- 0:11Hello friends, it's Sean here and it is the 3rd of October.
- 0:17It's a Friday and well done, I'll make it to the end of
- 0:20another week. I have had an awfully cruisy
- 0:23week on holidays, not doing a whole lot of, well, anything
- 0:28particularly stressful, so I don't feel like I've really
- 0:31earned much of A Friday celebration.
- 0:33But hey, you know, when you're on holidays, every day is a
- 0:35celebration, so I'll take it. But no matter where you are, no
- 0:38matter what your week has been like, here we are at the end of
- 0:42it before our God, ready to take on some of his wisdom, our Holy
- 0:47Spirit. May your wisdom through the ages
- 0:50land with us and draw us closer to you in the way that we live
- 0:55our lives. All right, friends, you ready?
- 0:59Let's do it together. Let's read Proverbs 1629 to 33.
- 1:14Violent people mislead their companions, leading them down a
- 1:19harmful path. With narrowed eyes, people plot
- 1:25evil. With a smirk they plan their
- 1:28mischief. Grey hair is a crown of glory.
- 1:35It is gained by living a godly life.
- 1:42Better to be patient than powerful.
- 1:45Better to have self control than to conquer a city.
- 1:52We may throw the dice, but the Lord determines how they fall.
- 2:00And again, violent people mislead their companions,
- 2:05leading them down a harmful path.
- 2:10With narrowed eyes, people plot evil.
- 2:13With a smirk, they plan their mischief.
- 2:19Grey hair is a crown of glory. It is gained by living a godly
- 2:24life. Better to be patient than
- 2:29powerful. Better to have self control than
- 2:33to conquer a city. We may throw the dice, but the
- 2:40Lord determines how they fall. Thank you for your wisdom, our
- 2:55loving God. Thank you for the counter
- 2:59cultural life that you call us to.
- 3:04As we see in verse 32, while our world promotes power and
- 3:09conquering your way promotes patience and self control.
- 3:16Would you call us to be patient And with our patience and the
- 3:21gentleness that comes with that, we don't need to be overbearing
- 3:24to force our way through situations that we want to
- 3:28achieve a certain outcome in. And rather than conquering a
- 3:33city, it's better that we live with self control because even
- 3:39as the next proverb tells us, it's not what we do that brings
- 3:45about the outcomes. We may throw the dice, but you,
- 3:48you Lord, determines how they fall.
- 3:52So I pray that you guide us and teach us how to throw the dice
- 3:56well, how to live with patience and self control, knowing that
- 4:03ultimately, if we live faithfully for you, you will
- 4:08bring about your Kingdom just the way you want it to be on
- 4:12earth as it is in heaven. So we give ourselves to you once
- 4:16again, Jesus, and pray that you take us and use us and bring
- 4:21about your ways and we love you and we want our lives to be of
- 4:26service to you. We pray this in your name,
- 4:29Jesus, Amen.
