- 0:00Well, Dave, I have to thank you. I appreciate any opportunity to
- 0:03go and visit Vegas and of course this was an opportunity to get
- 0:08the sights and sounds or having to lose any of the money.
- 0:13Yeah, it's a place where I've never been.
- 0:15You're missing out. It's not on my.
- 0:17List. You got to get on the list.
- 0:19Yeah. Oh my God, such a great vibe.
- 0:21I would never be able to convince my wife to go to.
- 0:23Vegas or to let you go to Vegas or to.
- 0:25Let me go to Vegas. It would have to be.
- 0:27It's a tandem deal on the down low.
- 0:29You know we have to. She's off in Turkey somewhere.
- 0:33You abscond over to Vegas for a couple of days.
- 0:36None the one what's tell her we're going to.
- 0:37Maraca, you know, that was our plan originally and we'll just
- 0:40hightail it to. Sure.
- 0:41Hang a quick left head to Vegas instead.
- 0:45Well done. Yeah.
- 0:45OK, we got a little plan. This movie, you know, give you a
- 0:48bit of an itch. To maybe go to Vegas or just go
- 0:51to Quebec. You know what it strangely it
- 0:53doesn't give me. It gives me an itch to go to
- 0:55Vegas because I love all the sights and sounds, but it
- 0:58doesn't necessarily give me the itch to gamble.
- 0:59This movie is not a gamble movie.
- 1:02So I thought it was kind of. That's true.
- 1:03Makes you want to like, yeah, get on heights.
- 1:05What makes me want to go to Vegas more than that is
- 1:08something like The Good Thief. If you remember that the last 15
- 1:11to 20 of that movie where he's just Bob, as you know, is, is on
- 1:15a streak and he's in the the South of France and he's doing
- 1:18all this, you know, that is like, I need to get to Vegas.
- 1:21Get me to a table immediately. This movie is great for the
- 1:26vibe, but I don't have the the compulsion, let's say.
- 1:29Yeah. That's good.
- 1:30I didn't want to bring out any sort.
- 1:31I didn't want to be a negative influence on you by any stretch.
- 1:34No, but just to be clear, I am going to Vegas at the end of
- 1:38September. So wonderful.
- 1:40It's locked in. I don't have to tell anybody
- 1:42either. Maybe you'll run in.
- 1:44No one. No approvals necessary.
- 1:47Maybe you'll run into Big Frank Thomas.
- 1:49That's right, the big hurt coming back.
- 1:53Hello and welcome to Off the Shelf with Phil and Dave, the
- 1:57Movie talk show where each week one of us takes a movie off the
- 1:59shelf, presents it to the other and discusses it at length.
- 2:08This week, we've got coming off of Dave Shelf 2001, Ocean's 11,
- 2:13George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, Don Cheadle, Julia
- 2:16Roberts, Andy Garcia. Yeah.
- 2:18Yeah, keep it going. So many people.
- 2:20It's it's Steven Soderbergh directed.
- 2:22Bernie Mac. Bernie Mac Absolutely.
- 2:24Ted Griffith, The writing. It's a hell of a movie, David.
- 2:27What I do, what I do, buddy. So I appreciate you taking it
- 2:31off. It was nice to revisit.
- 2:32Dave, what is your history and interest in bringing off the
- 2:36shelf this week? You're not a Vegas guy.
- 2:38I'm not. Definitely not a Vegas guy.
- 2:39I don't have any fond memories of watching the movie.
- 2:42I have seen it maybe once or twice before.
- 2:45I think it's kicking around on the old DVD.
- 2:47OK, sure. The reason why I couldn't put a
- 2:50finger on it, I'm like. Why am I drawn to this?
- 2:53I don't I. Don't know, it's not a go to
- 2:55movie. I can't even put it under the
- 2:57category of hankering. You're a Garcia guy, we
- 3:00established. Oh, you are.
- 3:01I'm. A You are a Garcia guy, so maybe
- 3:03this is just a treat to you. A.
- 3:05Gift even. Yeah, a gift that nice.
- 3:08You know, house warming gift. Sure, sure.
- 3:10We are here in our in our brand new studio.
- 3:12Yeah, beautiful. Yeah, well funded.
- 3:16Yes, absolutely. We got a whole.
- 3:18Crew in here now. That's right.
- 3:19Finally. Yeah, pizza right around the
- 3:21corner is perfect. Yeah, yeah.
- 3:24But that's it, Phil. So I'm curious to know if you're
- 3:27willing to tell me your history with it.
- 3:29I will divulge. I imagine you might be drawn to
- 3:33this, you know. Absolutely.
- 3:34I saw this in the theater 2001. Living in Vancouver, OK and good
- 3:39years out there. It may be, and I may have
- 3:42believed it to be at the time, and in some ways still do, it
- 3:44may be the coolest movie ever made.
- 3:47Wow, that's it's. It's not like a great movie.
- 3:49It's it's heavens no kind of got some flaws.
- 3:52It it, you know, all the things that we're going to discuss it
- 3:54during the the episode, but man, oh, man, this is the a cool
- 3:58movie from minute one to the end.
- 4:00Like there's a cool vibe. And I can't think of anything
- 4:03better than that to say other than everything about it just
- 4:06feels cool. Yeah.
- 4:07And at the time I was like, there's nobody cooler in the
- 4:09world than George Clooney, Brad. But like, it just the vibe of
- 4:12this was so great. And I was really on a Steven
- 4:14Soderbergh high. I had loved his sort of previous
- 4:17four or five movies. I liked Aaron Brockovitz a lot.
- 4:19I love traffic Full frontal. I loved I loved sex, lies and
- 4:23videotape. I loved the King of the Hill.
- 4:26He's just done. Great movie after great movie.
- 4:28Out of sight we've already spoken about.
- 4:30I got out of sight vibes at the beginning because sure, for a
- 4:33good looking guy, he's been in prison twice now.
- 4:36Yeah, I don't know. You know, they're good looking.
- 4:38People can go to prison. I'm just happy he wasn't in a
- 4:40trunk. Yeah.
- 4:41Yeah. Really, This movie would have
- 4:42been better if they. Iced it out of a trunk.
- 4:44So that was my instinct when I first saw it.
- 4:46I was like, I have to see it. I really love the trailer.
- 4:48Thought it was really kind of clever and fun, the trailer.
- 4:51And then watching the movie, I was like, yeah, it delivered on
- 4:53all of those things, so. You're you were content as you
- 4:55walked out. Yeah, I loved it.
- 4:57I was really, I loved it when I saw it in 2001, masterpiece
- 5:00level or no. Again, recognizing that it was
- 5:03more just about being cool, just about a vibe.
- 5:06What year did the recruit come out?
- 5:08We did it like a little while ago.
- 5:09It's around the same time if I'm not mistaken though.
- 5:11Came out 2003. 'Cause we, we talked about the
- 5:13coolness of that. I felt like Colin Farrell would
- 5:16be good in this movie too, 'cause it's, it's about yeah,
- 5:19cool. I, I, I did feel like it was
- 5:21kind of obvious now looking back 20 odd years later, like, OK,
- 5:24you're trying to be cool. You're succeeding to a certain
- 5:27level. But in the dialogue, I felt like
- 5:29a little bit, you know, there's a couple of lines in there.
- 5:31Sure. A little bit written.
- 5:32Yeah. But there are some really
- 5:34amazing lines that actually I love in this movie.
- 5:36So a little bit of mixed bag, Cheryl.
- 5:37Totally for me, but he just the the the pallet, if you will,
- 5:40like the the way it's filmed and everything is certainly it's
- 5:43that time early 2000s that's the jam.
- 5:46Yeah. And I mean, we are, we saw a
- 5:47little bit of this with Soderbergh as well when dealing
- 5:49with Out of Sight, the different film stocks, the different sort
- 5:52of, you know, Detroit. Very blue and very and sort of
- 5:55saturated in Florida. There's a couple of that he's
- 5:57playing with, certainly playing it even more so in traffic.
- 5:59So here we are doing something similar where he's clearly a fan
- 6:04of the camera and what it can do.
- 6:06And it's of that era as you mentioned with the recruit in
- 6:092002, even our 2003, sorry, Minority Report and I think 2002
- 6:14has that saturated coloring very early 2000.
- 6:18A lot of tweaking in the early 2000.
- 6:20I think it's like the rise of digital film is sort of coming
- 6:23into play some of the more techniques you can kind of play
- 6:25with. But anyway, I think this movie
- 6:27delivers what it tries to do without being a masterpiece, but
- 6:31being it might for my money like very watchable.
- 6:34Entertaining. It's an easy one to put on and
- 6:37just like coast with it. Just under 2 I believe.
- 6:39Ballpark. Yeah, it's really good.
- 6:41Now there is an Ocean's 12. Yeah, and 13.
- 6:44Now and eight, calm down this in a way, if you watch this at a
- 6:48later date, not when it came out, this would be like a
- 6:52prequel. Now, we recently did a prequel,
- 6:54so if you watched, say Oceans 12 and 13 and then go back to 11
- 6:58for the first time. You.
- 7:00Think a lot of things were spoiled.
- 7:01Has it? Would it stand up as a prequel?
- 7:03I think because it's none of what is.
- 7:06My memories of 12 are hazier than my memories of 13, but I
- 7:10don't think that they're predicated on the movie quite
- 7:12the same way as our last prequel.
- 7:14Less dots to connect, just yeah. Like, I think it's just like
- 7:17these guys doing something else. Gotcha.
- 7:19But you know they're all going to live.
- 7:21Yeah, it's true. It's true.
- 7:23You know that they were successful.
- 7:25They're going to get to the green place, but.
- 7:27How, but how you know, we want to know what the how.
- 7:29That's the key and this movie, make sure you get to know the
- 7:31how as it can be a little bit confusing, but.
- 7:34Yeah. And I think sometimes I think
- 7:36about the complexity of some of these heists in these movies
- 7:40where I think you're going to maybe make whatever the number
- 7:43is, let's say $100 million, but it's going to cost you about 40
- 7:45million to get all the things in place to deliver the payoff.
- 7:49You know you. Just got to get Ross.
- 7:51Skeller's dad, the Fungia. Elliott Gould.
- 7:54I believe that's. I believe that's him, Right.
- 7:56Yes. Elliott Gould.
- 7:56So if you guys that look sort of the same and I get them mixed
- 7:58up, but I can, I'll take that one to the bank.
- 8:01Yeah. Like I'm cracking on that.
- 8:02And he. Yeah.
- 8:03Speaking of taking him to the bank, he is in one of my
- 8:05favorite bank movies called The Silent Partner, Christopher
- 8:09Plummer, which I wish I could take off the shelf.
- 8:11What's stopping you? That's a good question.
- 8:13I just haven't. It's Curtis Hansen, directing,
- 8:15shot in Canada. The Eden Center.
- 8:17Elliot Gould, Christopher Plummer.
- 8:19Brilliant concept. It's a Christmas movie as well.
- 8:24Yeah. You know what?
- 8:25Maybe it'll come off. Maybe.
- 8:26The whole Made in Canada thing is that the whole.
- 8:28That's right. Canvas strong elbows up.
- 8:30Yeah, you have an aversion to Canadian movies, as we've
- 8:33established with last night. Hey.
- 8:35You know, does Mike Myers make a cameo?
- 8:37No, it was 76 I think pre pre Michael.
- 8:40It's also pre Michael Myers, still a couple years away.
- 8:44Now I was sort of joking about the prequel of it all just that
- 8:47one of those dumb thoughts that enter my brain but it is a
- 8:50remake of a movie I believe it was 1960 fell up if my well not
- 8:56my memory. Have I looked it up?
- 8:57Your memory of looking it up. Yes, which was just about 5
- 9:00minutes ago. Frank Sinatra?
- 9:03Yeah, the Rat Pack. Yeah, OK, don't have.
- 9:06I don't know. I'm not going to have a lot to
- 9:08bring to it because I haven't seen it.
- 9:10I knew it existed. Have you seen it or do you have
- 9:12any any input about? It, I love it.
- 9:15It's a little dry. It being 1960, I watched Ocean's
- 9:1811. I watched 4 for Texas, which is
- 9:21another sort of Rat Pack kind of movie.
- 9:25And then they did Robin and the Seven Hoods also in that same
- 9:29kind of vein of this OK, you know, kind of grand thing.
- 9:33I was really into Sinatra for a period of time.
- 9:35And so and I just like another one where it's just like what
- 9:40was super cool of 1960 was transposed 2001.
- 9:44Take the the hottest actors, best looking Sammy Davis.
- 9:48You got Dean Martin, you got the coolest guys in the world.
- 9:50Sorry to interrupt you Phil, but for those who don't know,
- 9:52including myself, the Rat Pack, please explain.
- 9:55Just a collection of stars, celebrities and singers
- 9:59ultimately. Telling on each other.
- 10:01Or no, no, they call them, I think the Rat Pack because they
- 10:04were sleeping their way around and I think they were, they were
- 10:07having a good time with their lives.
- 10:08So rascals more, Yeah. So a lot of a lot of drinking
- 10:13and presumably a lot of humping. I can get behind that all.
- 10:16Over. But yeah, they're just like some
- 10:17of, again, the most talented people.
- 10:19I mean, Joey Bishop, arguably, he's the Ringo, let's call it
- 10:23what it is, come on. But Dean Martin says Sammy Davis
- 10:26Junior and Frank Sinatra are three of the greatest voices,
- 10:29performers, personalities. You know, again, just these
- 10:33these larger than life vibes, not unlike they got vibes a
- 10:36Clooney, a pit and a demon just in that kind of vibe.
- 10:40Well, isn't. Frank a singer as well?
- 10:42Did he have a a few? Heads Oh yeah, he's a huge,
- 10:44huge, huge singer huge, huge yeah doing like New York, NY he
- 10:48was in Guys and Dolls and he was in he wanted me to just his
- 10:52whole career was singing ultimately.
- 10:53But he's also an actor nominated for Forget the Manchurian
- 10:56Candidate, which is another great.
- 10:58I know him as a singer. That's why I know.
- 11:00I know. New York.
- 11:01Yeah. Marty Crane.
- 11:02Big fan. Big fan.
- 11:04Try to write one for him actually.
- 11:05OK. Good episode.
- 11:13Phil, have you ever been to a parole hearing?
- 11:15I know you're a big fan of being on.
- 11:17Jury to get on jury duty. So I mean, it's not unheard of,
- 11:19but I was never blessed. Yeah, you're hanging around
- 11:22outside. Any hearings today anyway on?
- 11:24Parole, yeah. Thank you on this.
- 11:26Yeah. Can I trade my jury summons for
- 11:29a parole hearing? Anyone on the black market?
- 11:32Any 2 fers out there? Scalping tickets to a parole
- 11:36hearing would be kind of fun. Well, this scene opens.
- 11:38The movie opens, really, with Clooney in jail once again, like
- 11:42we mentioned, a familiar. We left him, basically he was on
- 11:45his way to jail, out of sight. He got caught doing something.
- 11:48I don't know. Yeah, yeah, he was a thief.
- 11:50He was a thief. Yeah, he's a liar and a thief,
- 11:52and he only lied about being a thief.
- 11:54That's true. That is true.
- 11:55That comes into play everyone. These are great lines to, like,
- 11:58in this parole hearing, I was in a dark place, Like, don't you
- 12:01know, like, nothing's ever really my fault.
- 12:03I was in, Yeah, poor tendencies or whatever that sort of term
- 12:06is. But he does say, yeah, she's not
- 12:08gonna leave me twice, right? Or she's not gonna leave me
- 12:10again. That mean?
- 12:11Yeah, come on. This is a great line.
- 12:13And it's just to me again, exudes a certain level of cool
- 12:16when he's just confident and calm and just saying like, well,
- 12:19she's not gonna do that again, so I'll probably be fine.
- 12:22And then, of course, out he goes.
- 12:23Out he goes to the world, he passes.
- 12:25And my gosh, this guy makes the most of his time.
- 12:28Immediately calls his PO parole officer.
- 12:31Yeah, as he don't know. And then immediately is meeting
- 12:34up with Bernie Mac. Yeah.
- 12:35This is like Atlantic City, which is basically one tier
- 12:39down, would you say from Vegas? Have you been to Atlantic City?
- 12:43No. Well, why haven't you?
- 12:45That appeals to me more than Vegas.
- 12:46Tell me why that's a bigger thing.
- 12:48No, it's got a. It's got a boardwalk.
- 12:50OK, yeah. Beaches.
- 12:52Yes. Vegas does not have beaches.
- 12:54Yeah, but the movie Beaches. Oh, absolutely.
- 12:56Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, absolutely.
- 12:58There you go. I don't know.
- 12:59I like to go like the one down. Like the poor man's, Yeah.
- 13:04Well, I mean, like I said before in a in a previous episode,
- 13:06never been to Wonderland, but I've been to Ontario Place.
- 13:09Yeah, you know what I mean? That's that's where that's where
- 13:11I am not the crowd's not so big, more manageable, OK.
- 13:15And it's like the name Atlantic City.
- 13:16So I that that appeals to me. Again, I don't think I would
- 13:19really enjoy myself if it's centered around gambling and
- 13:22what have you. Sure.
- 13:23Would you head to the Jersey Shore?
- 13:25Yeah, right. See some.
- 13:27I don't know, whoever the stars of the Jersey Shore were.
- 13:30Sookie. Maybe there was a Sookie
- 13:32involved. I guess all I know.
- 13:34Didn't watch. Didn't watch a lot of it.
- 13:35Johnny Beans. Maybe.
- 13:37Maybe I. Don't.
- 13:37Did not. Did not watch a lot of it.
- 13:40Never. Never.
- 13:40Which is funny. What I liked about this movie,
- 13:42actually in the first like 15 minutes of it, is Joshua
- 13:46Jackson. Oh yeah, the other guys, Sure.
- 13:49Topher, Grace, Holly Marie Combs.
- 13:51Yeah, you know them all. No, just Ollie Marie Combs.
- 13:54She was in Josh. Wheaton was one.
- 13:56Josh Wheaton, No. Definitely Topher Grace and
- 13:58definitely Holly Marie Combs. Those are the did.
- 14:00You guys were definitely recognizable, but all like back
- 14:02then were in their prime and heart throbs and popular and.
- 14:06I like and TV, that's your world, that's.
- 14:08Yeah, here we go. Munch, punch.
- 14:10Yum it, munching it up, buddy. Loving it.
- 14:12I wasn't a big fan of somebody's show, but I do like, I do like
- 14:14Topher Grace. Sure.
- 14:16Using traffic as well. So there you go.
- 14:18A little connective tissue as you love so much.
- 14:20Yeah, I thought it was cute, them just playing themselves.
- 14:23Yeah, and like, obnoxious versions of themselves, right?
- 14:26What am I? It's just chump change anyway,
- 14:28right? And they're like, come on.
- 14:29It's a great scene. I I was explaining to my wife
- 14:31like, hey, hey, they're all just playing themselves and she's
- 14:34like, OK. Yeah, whatever.
- 14:35That is a great scene for poker. It's a great scene.
- 14:37It's like a reminder that poker is a very specific skill and and
- 14:41so forth to play. I liked the vibe, as you're
- 14:44saying, kind of making it really funny and silly.
- 14:46What I like as well is the interplay between Clooney and
- 14:49Pitt in the way that they're immediately on the take, They're
- 14:54both know the score, and they're gonna like, take these guys
- 14:57down. Funny, I didn't pick up on that.
- 14:59I thought he was sincere and saying that he's, he's in too
- 15:02deep, you know. OK.
- 15:04But he was. He's bluffing.
- 15:05Sure. And I'm like, oh, yeah.
- 15:06OK. Because that seems like that's
- 15:08very impossible. Yeah.
- 15:09And my wife's like, I think they're working together there.
- 15:12Yeah. Oh, OK.
- 15:13Within minutes, like, I just like that they fell right into
- 15:15whatever that vibe was that they had had before.
- 15:17She had said that they had like bad eyes for each other in that
- 15:20quick moment. And I watched it the second
- 15:22time, like yeah, Yep. But my favorite part of that
- 15:24scene is Topher, though, all red and the look on pits face and
- 15:29then he's like high 5 and Josh Jacks.
- 15:31I think I'm like, yeah, these guys are idiots.
- 15:34Yeah, totally dumb. Yeah, what I find is kind of
- 15:37funny as well is there's two things.
- 15:39First is in the moment, and I only caught this years later,
- 15:42but in the moment when Pitt walks into the room to discover
- 15:46that Clooney's in there, Clooney is asking the question, did you
- 15:49find it difficult to transfer to movies?
- 15:51And Topher was like, not for me, man.
- 15:53And I thought, this is George Clooney, like the king of going
- 15:56from, yeah, Booker on Roseanne to to like, 100 different
- 16:00bullshit roles. The hospital ER for years, but
- 16:03had been bouncing around television for a long time.
- 16:06And now he's obviously it's one of the biggest movie stars in
- 16:08the world. So him to say that I just
- 16:09thought that's clever. And then alternatively, what I
- 16:11thought was really clever was at the end of that scene when Pitt
- 16:14and Clooney are walking out of the club.
- 16:16Nobody cares. Nobody cares.
- 16:17But Topher walks out autographs and they're getting swarmed.
- 16:20And it's like, there's just something kind of funny to me
- 16:22about, you know, I didn't quite pick up on that.
- 16:23That's that is actually clever. There's a lot of winks and nods
- 16:26to their lives, which I thought was really clever.
- 16:28Always room for a wink and a nod.
- 16:29Sometimes 2. No, Phil, I'm in sales.
- 16:33In sales and we have a bit of a pitch here, Yeah, as I look
- 16:36through some blueprints, Can you read those things?
- 16:38No. Have you tried?
- 16:39I'm colorblind so they just look like prints to me and that's the
- 16:42problem I always forget about that just prints.
- 16:44Yeah, that explains a lot when we're online gaming.
- 16:48I thought it was a pretty good sales pitch.
- 16:50And I like Pitt saying you rushed it.
- 16:53Yeah, that in particular was a scene in the trailer that I was
- 16:56like, I need to see this movie because he's delivering this
- 16:58line all earnesty can come up with because the house always
- 17:00wins. And you sit in the bed long
- 17:02enough and you're going to go unless that one time you bid it.
- 17:05And then he just like, sits in silence for just a beat.
- 17:07He goes, I rushed it felt like. I rushed it.
- 17:09And Pitt's like, no, no, you're fine.
- 17:10That relationship, that interplay is like, that's why
- 17:13I'm going to the movie. And the rest of the movie ended
- 17:15up being just as good for my for my taste.
- 17:18These are two guys I want to spend 2 hours with.
- 17:20Of course they got good chemistry.
- 17:21They've they've worked together since recently.
- 17:23Actually it's 12 and 13 of course, but they also in wolves.
- 17:27Wolves I feel. Like there's one even a couple
- 17:29years ago, but they must get along clearly, which is nice.
- 17:32We've talked before in different episodes about kind of
- 17:35vernacular, creating a language, creating rules the movie has to
- 17:38follow by this and that, but in particular vernacular in tone.
- 17:41The way that pit is hearing the pitch.
- 17:44Rusty for those Rusty. That's right.
- 17:46And the way that he is, he's like trying to assert how to do
- 17:50the job that that Clooney is pitching.
- 17:52And he talks about how well to do that, we're going to need a
- 17:56dozen people doing any number of cons.
- 17:58And then he kind of breaks it down to being, you know, they
- 18:01need a Bowski, a Jim Brown, you know?
- 18:03Who Jim Brown is. Yeah, of course, football.
- 18:05Player in there? OK, just check in.
- 18:06I know him from Mars Attacks, but he's also a football player.
- 18:10Commonly known. That's right.
- 18:11Yeah, a Miss Daisy, 2 Jethro's and a Leon Spinks.
- 18:15And they don't explain why or what any of those things really
- 18:18are. Dog day afternoon.
- 18:20No, no, Leon is the boyfriend in Dog Day.
- 18:22That's a good memory, Leon, you got.
- 18:25I get a lot of R.E.M. I get a lot of R.E.M.
- 18:27Sleep. Great memory.
- 18:29But Leon Speaks is a boxer, OK. But the idea that the
- 18:32relationship is tight enough and that the understanding is so
- 18:36clear between them that you can say, hey, we need a couple of
- 18:39jet throws and Miss Daisy into this and that.
- 18:41And everyone just goes, yeah, OK, without any question.
- 18:44I like that as a shorthand for that camaraderie and like, we're
- 18:49in this together. And it happens a little later,
- 18:50too, which I I just think it's a great way to put you in the
- 18:53scene and the first step along the way.
- 18:55They got to go see Ross Giller's dad, also known as Elliott
- 19:02Gould, also known in this movie as Reuben.
- 19:04What was Courtney Cox's name in that show?
- 19:07It's a Rachel. No, Monica.
- 19:09Monica. Monica Geller.
- 19:10There you go. OK, so much for that REM sleep.
- 19:14This guy, he's great. He is great.
- 19:17He is great. I love his wardrobe, first and
- 19:20foremost. Smoking the cigar, sitting there
- 19:23with his robe wide open. Goddamn minds right away.
- 19:27Yeah, he's a fun character. Doesn't play a huge role.
- 19:30He's got him in the background for most of it.
- 19:32Yeah, he's kind of funding the thing, it seems.
- 19:33Yes, he's he's the man with the money, but they got to give him
- 19:36a a reason to do it. And luckily he's not a fan of
- 19:40Mr. Benedict, played by Andy Garcia.
- 19:43Yep. Because he muscled him out of
- 19:44the Basically, yeah. Left him out of a push, out of
- 19:47the game of of a casino? Yeah, of a deal.
- 19:49Now there'll be a demolishing coming up.
- 19:51I don't want to spoil it for anybody, but a building will
- 19:53come down. Funny scene we're going to talk
- 19:55about for just a bit there. Obviously he doesn't mind
- 19:57getting back at Benedict, so. See, here's because he's
- 20:00shooting them down. Yeah, yeah, they're playing
- 20:02them, Yeah. And then they get the.
- 20:04What's the casinos? And this, again, is a testament
- 20:06to their coolness because they go what was it?
- 20:08What were we talking about? Yeah, they just play it to the
- 20:10hilt, right. It's just the bingo hall.
- 20:12That's right. No.
- 20:13Yeah, the big one. Bellagio.
- 20:14You know them all. Bellagio, MGM Grand and the.
- 20:17Yeah, their garage. It's like the tenors and the
- 20:20other. And the other one.
- 20:21But what I like about that as well is, and I wonder how you
- 20:24felt, because this is another testament to Soderbergh, sort
- 20:27of. I felt fine.
- 20:28Artistic flourishes were the three separate stories.
- 20:33Yeah. Yeah, of the previous heists in
- 20:35the in the movie because it kind of stops the movie.
- 20:37These flashbacks, it's really just for style and humor.
- 20:40Yes. How did you react to that?
- 20:41Because it is a bit off the path of the movie?
- 20:44No, you know, I liked the insertion of it, OK.
- 20:46I like the idea of it, the execution of it, like it wasn't
- 20:50amazing. I like, I did like the music
- 20:52over top of the last one. That was nice, sure.
- 20:54My thought was because I'm a thinker.
- 20:56That's what people say about you.
- 20:59Some do is you would never shoot an unarmed man now.
- 21:03Oh, certainly not. Yeah, yeah, absolutely.
- 21:04But you can do that back in the. Day I think about if you're
- 21:07remembering It's a Wonderful Life where Ernie Bert, I believe
- 21:11is like when when George gets thrown out of the bar and just
- 21:14running down the street and Bert's just like, yeah, fire
- 21:17Ernie, yeah. Firing a couple of shots in the
- 21:19middle of the street, like, yeah, like nothing, yeah.
- 21:22And so I think, yeah, yeah. The interjection of that was, it
- 21:25was a nice touch, yeah, overall. I thought it was pretty clever.
- 21:28And, you know, since then, other directors like Adam McKay in
- 21:31particular, has sort of done this, stop the movie, tell
- 21:33another story and then come back to the movie to varying degrees
- 21:36of success. I thought this worked.
- 21:38OK. Yeah.
- 21:38He ends the his sort of scenes too, like right before all of
- 21:42that as they're trying to figure out which casinos.
- 21:44He says, look, I owe you from the the thing with the guy at
- 21:48the place and I'll never forget it.
- 21:50It's just really cool. It's clever, it's funny, and it
- 21:53kind of stands out to me and. Isn't he sending him some,
- 21:55sending him some furniture or? Something I'll send you.
- 21:58Just all of this really cool vibe between them.
- 22:00You dig? Cool, I definitely did.
- 22:02You're not, but you dig it. Well, I think that's why it's
- 22:04aspirational. There you go, crew Cotton.
- 22:15We have ourselves a crew call, crew call, Classic, crew call
- 22:19Armageddon that reminded me of Phillip.
- 22:21Yeah, actually now you mentioned that that's.
- 22:24And I, I, I, I try not to compare the two apples and
- 22:26oranges, but they're both fruits, so it's a minor
- 22:29comparison here. Armageddon had a lot more
- 22:32energy. It was bigger Michael Bay
- 22:35movies, I think going to be bigger than the Steven
- 22:37Soderbergh. Movie sparks, certainly.
- 22:39Nonetheless this, you know, does the trick.
- 22:41A little meet and greet with the 11:10.
- 22:44I guess there's already 2 so. Well, they're piercing you
- 22:46together and then eventually they get to the You think we
- 22:49need one more, but but we'll get to.
- 22:50That Well, yeah, we'll get to that because I was surprised.
- 22:54I think Ramon Slash Frank, Yep, was the first one.
- 22:58That's right. Yeah, we've got Affleck and
- 23:02Scott Caan. James Caan.
- 23:04Oh, the twins. The Twins.
- 23:05Wait, that. Oh, I didn't know that.
- 23:07Yeah. Well, that's nice.
- 23:08Yeah. Tweeter.
- 23:09I call him Varsity Blues. Oh, yeah.
- 23:11Wide receiver. There you go.
- 23:13I believe he's James Caan's son. OK, we've talked about in Enemy
- 23:18of the State. Enemy of the state?
- 23:19There you go. James Caan is not an enemy of
- 23:21the state. James Caan isn't, but his son
- 23:22is. Oh, Scott, Yeah, sorry.
- 23:24Sure. Yes, elf is maybe what you were
- 23:26thinking of. We're getting cons every few
- 23:28months. We're getting a couple.
- 23:30Big pros couple of con Affleck. You know, it's not, it's not
- 23:34Ben, but at least it's it's an Affleck.
- 23:37Dude, I saw this guy in something blah blah blah
- 23:39Manhattan. Or some really sad movie.
- 23:42Oh, yeah, yeah. Manchester by the sea, Man.
- 23:44There it is. A nominal performance. 1 Oscar
- 23:47for it. Rightfully so.
- 23:48Who else is great in that is Michelle Williams.
- 23:49Oh my God. Like melt your soul.
- 23:52She is a gem. She's not hidden.
- 23:54She's not hidden. She's.
- 23:55Out there, she's out there. She's an incredible, incredible,
- 23:57very good, very good, very good. Well, Speaking of Ashley
- 24:00Jackson, you know there was a. There you go.
- 24:02A little Dawson for you. You love that connected tissue,
- 24:06Lord love you. But they're they're funny.
- 24:08They're they're twins. I don't know if they're real
- 24:09twins. Yeah, I don't know.
- 24:10Probably they're not identical twins, but yeah, they got those
- 24:13the the monster truck race that's happening.
- 24:15And Affleck just plays that sad guy.
- 24:17Like he just looks so pathetic. The tweeter's just like he's
- 24:21laughing, amped up. Yeah, what a guy.
- 24:24What a guy. What a guy.
- 24:24And then we have, I believe. Livingston.
- 24:27Livingston, yes. How's his nerves?
- 24:30Yeah, little shot. I like him.
- 24:31Yeah, he's great. He doesn't really have a big
- 24:33part, but where he shows up, he delivers.
- 24:34He's got a huge part to play in the movie, though.
- 24:37He's integral. He's integral.
- 24:38Speaking of Integral and Speaking of great, we've got Don
- 24:41Cheadle. Don Cheadle from Out of Sight,
- 24:44another collaboration with Steven Soderbergh.
- 24:46Traffic. Traffic as well.
- 24:48Yeah. We we like him.
- 24:49Devil in a blue drag the guy is. Phenomenal.
- 24:51This is not his real accent. No, OK, no.
- 24:55Because he could be no. Could be, but it's not.
- 24:57No great character basher. Yeah, explosive expert.
- 25:02That's right. His introduction is great too.
- 25:04When Brad kind of goes to get him right and we just like, hey,
- 25:07get the. Yeah, I have.
- 25:08I listen here. I have some questions about this
- 25:10and hoping you can answer them. Finally.
- 25:12You don't often answer my questions, but they said there
- 25:14might be a problem getting Cheadle Basher because of
- 25:17availability and I'm thinking because maybe he's in prison.
- 25:22That's my thought. But then we go to the scene
- 25:25where you're talking about and Pitts like getting him out of
- 25:28the jam of, you know, he got caught stealing something.
- 25:31So I thought I got all messed up to what he meant by
- 25:34availability. And then we cut to that.
- 25:35But that's obviously in the future.
- 25:38But I got the impression that they're cutting back to the
- 25:39past, but they're not because you know what?
- 25:43I. Mean if the problem was
- 25:43availability, they just circumvented it.
- 25:45So the problem isn't a problem with availability, they just
- 25:48kept it so that he isn't that he is available.
- 25:51It's fair, yeah. It's a great scene though.
- 25:54I mean, I don't know, I'm still confused.
- 25:56That was like. Yeah, there is no answer I got
- 25:58now that you mentioned like I couldn't define it or explain
- 26:00it, but I. Think Nolan needs to work on
- 26:02that part. And when they have that little
- 26:04explosive to walk away, that's dangerous.
- 26:06That looked like a big explosion.
- 26:08There's like innocent cops around.
- 26:09I didn't sure, I didn't like it, but I did remember that scene
- 26:12from the first time watching it. Obviously it's a memorable
- 26:15moment. Yeah, I mean, it's definitely
- 26:17memorable. I really liked it.
- 26:19We get the grease man. The grease man.
- 26:20Got another problem right here. OK, let's hear it.
- 26:22I. Don't have a lot of problems
- 26:23with the movie, but Clooney's not impressed.
- 26:25He's not impressed with it. He's in the acrobatic guy at
- 26:27first, not at first, not at first, understandably so.
- 26:31But then what the Grease man does to me isn't still that
- 26:34impressive. So for him to change to like,
- 26:36oh, this guy is not interesting, He's boring.
- 26:38Who's next? Sure, on the list.
- 26:41And then to be like wowed by just jumping from 1 bar to the
- 26:43other. I thought, well I could do that.
- 26:46I mean I could. Let me assure you that.
- 26:47You cannot I, I. Think I I do better now.
- 26:50What he does later is impressive.
- 26:52Yeah, yeah, yeah. But this is like not even close
- 26:53to that. So I don't know.
- 26:54I don't know. Just a small, you know, Irk
- 26:56yeah, that's fair. I think if you the take away
- 26:59from that scene potential, you look at that move and you think
- 27:03this kid's got potential. All right, you say so, buddy.
- 27:07I'll let you have it. I'll let you have it.
- 27:09And they're doing the count. They're summarizing the team.
- 27:12Absolutely. Clooney in dead silence without
- 27:15any feedback, watching the Acrobat, as it were.
- 27:19He says we need one more. You think we need one more?
- 27:23All right, let's get one more. Yeah, it's great.
- 27:25Those two, like I said, it's just all you have to do is put a
- 27:27camera on it and it's magic. Magic.
- 27:29It's magic. Yeah, and who's the who's the
- 27:30last guy? Last one they draft.
- 27:33That's right, this is actually maybe up your.
- 27:35Alley. That's why I was late today, by
- 27:37the way, I was finishing up my final draft, by the way, this is
- 27:40it. I did the last one.
- 27:41I. Have heard this 100 times.
- 27:43Our audience has heard it 100 times.
- 27:45You'll appreciate this. In left field I got Altuve.
- 27:48Oh my boy. Just for you got him in the
- 27:50fifth round. He's 34.
- 27:51But you have to have a couple guys with some wisdom on the
- 27:53team. Am I still catching?
- 27:54You're catching. I didn't draft you, though.
- 27:56I got Travis Darnaud. You Starnaud.
- 27:59I know you were gone. Sorry buddy.
- 28:02Yeah, you're to be with an eye line.
- 28:04Yeah, Yeah, you, I think you, you to go in the 32nd round.
- 28:06Yeah, that's. Good for you, that's my sweet
- 28:08spot. Yeah, I forgot Matt was in this
- 28:11movie. Oh, really?
- 28:12And what I like about Matt Damon, amongst many things, I
- 28:15think I like him more than I lead on.
- 28:17Sure. You don't take a lot of bent.
- 28:19You don't take a lot of Damon off the off the shelf.
- 28:22We had lots of opportunities. We did.
- 28:23Ripley's believe It or not. Or yeah, that was me off my
- 28:26shelf. No, it wasn't.
- 28:27Check the tapes, buddy. That was mine.
- 28:29That was mine and you know it. I will go back to it to prove it
- 28:32if I need to, but much like Interstellar, not that I forget
- 28:35that he's in it, but he just shows up a little bit later.
- 28:38He's your kicker. He's already.
- 28:39Going and he's just amped us up. Yeah, he's just that guy.
- 28:41He's like that extra infielder, if you will.
- 28:43That's like, oh, I got this guy late Giraffe, but he's good,
- 28:46sure. And he makes your team that
- 28:48much, Always delivers, Always delivers, generally speaking.
- 28:51And he's he's gambled using rounders.
- 28:54That's right. With Norton.
- 28:55I haven't seen it. That's.
- 28:56Going to come off the shelf a little bit.
- 28:57Everything. A lot of things to say about.
- 28:59That everything is going to come off the shelf at some point, but
- 29:02it's good to have a board. Apparently he's the son of
- 29:04somebody from Chicago, somebody name Pickpocket.
- 29:08He is a pickpocket. He is a pickpocketer.
- 29:10Have you ever been pickpocketed? No.
- 29:13Yeah, I had an attempt in Istanbul.
- 29:15They tried. They're big on that.
- 29:17Yeah, my wife's backpack was open, but nothing was taken.
- 29:20Luckily there's a pocket inside a pocket and that would really
- 29:22suck. You know, now that I think about
- 29:24it, my ex, and when we were in Paris, had her purse lifted.
- 29:28It was like a wallet in a purse. And she had unzipped it for some
- 29:31reason. And we had warned and had been
- 29:33warned. Yeah, of course.
- 29:34Yeah, 100 times. But until it really happens,
- 29:37yeah. She's the reason there.
- 29:38She's the ex. OK, doesn't listen.
- 29:40That was the no oh, yeah, that did happen.
- 29:43And I had, I was out on a date with another girl once and her
- 29:46purse got stolen, but that was more of a we left the restaurant
- 29:50and like, oh, wait. And then came back and it was
- 29:52gone, of course. So that wasn't really an active
- 29:54pickpocket or anything, but. Seizing an opportunity.
- 29:57Exactly. I know I shouldn't have taken
- 29:59that. I'm sorry.
- 30:01With all these guys together, he put he put them as an ensemble.
- 30:05It makes you think that they got some sort of group rate.
- 30:07In the words of Mr. Geller, Ruben Geller.
- 30:13Yeah, absolutely. We've got the crew.
- 30:15Yeah. Now we're going to hash out the
- 30:18plan. Of course, in this plan, it's a
- 30:20biggie. It's a doozy, if you will.
- 30:22It's a big job, but no one is committed.
- 30:25Everyone at this point, walk away.
- 30:27If you come and go, have some juice, have some food, get out.
- 30:30I just like the vibe of this. There's not an urgency, but
- 30:33there is a propulsion. Like it's still moving forward
- 30:36without being so like, get in there.
- 30:38We got to sort it out. We got, you know, whatever.
- 30:40There's a couple of good propellers, sort of study pace.
- 30:43There's two things I don't like about Pitt's character, though.
- 30:45OK, the reference to the mothers was odd.
- 30:48OK, I guess maybe I didn't quite understand his character and the
- 30:51fact that he's so cool and so smart that he speaks Mandarin.
- 30:56Like it's just, you know, he's like, I don't know, I don't
- 30:58know. 2 Little. Well, that's an example of what
- 31:01I was saying earlier about what I what I enjoyed was that much
- 31:04like the Miss Daisies and the Leon Spinks is and such that
- 31:08there's a vernacular that doesn't need explanation.
- 31:10His approach to, to the Mandarin is just answering the questions
- 31:15and reacting, right. So instead of explaining or or
- 31:18translating or having a scene about it, he just asked the
- 31:21question in Mandarin and gets the answer.
- 31:23I like the fact that they don't make a meal out of that, so I
- 31:26I'm on the opposite side of that spectrum, which is not uncommon.
- 31:29No it is not, and I'm not even sure if that's Mandarin.
- 31:31That's my ignorance, but I'm that would be my first guess.
- 31:33Likely Orcanthony's. Who's to say?
- 31:35Who's to say they are to? Say, but their ability to just
- 31:37hear it and understand it and run with it I.
- 31:39I. Kind of appreciate it.
- 31:40Well, OK, fine, I wrote down installation.
- 31:45Well, why did I do that filter? Well, they're doing the Recon
- 31:47mission. There it is.
- 31:48He's got his his clamp. He's trying to get a.
- 31:51This is his oral ride. Yeah, we've got the twins with
- 31:54the what I think is one of the great, great scenes with the
- 31:57balloons. Oh yeah, Casey Affleck having
- 32:00this. Great.
- 32:01Yeah, nice hat. It's nice hat is like, I'm just
- 32:04trying to deliver the balloons do.
- 32:06You know any balloon boys A. Circus animal or something like
- 32:09that. No I don't.
- 32:09I'm not a balloon boy. No, not.
- 32:11Do you know any? No, I'm looking.
- 32:13You're looking. You need a balloon guy.
- 32:15I need a balloon guy. Yeah, OK, Balloon boy, actually.
- 32:18It's not any better, but yeah, the way Casey Affleck says
- 32:22circus animals at the end of this exchange is something that
- 32:25sticks out with me. Yeah, those guys do a lot.
- 32:26Of different things in this movie, they're the.
- 32:29Yeah, they're the a lot of baseballs, the greasers, yes,
- 32:32couple of Jethro's. I would say they're maybe the
- 32:33Jethro's of the team. I thought there were a couple of
- 32:35Jim Browns. I.
- 32:37Don't know, could be I? Didn't get it I guess.
- 32:41They have to rebuild the vault is the trick.
- 32:43That's that's where you need Ruben's money for sure.
- 32:45That's this is the thing I was saying where like the the
- 32:48extensive build that that would require.
- 32:51It's an investment. You're yeah, you better make
- 32:53this heist work because. Well, if you don't, you're dead
- 32:56anyway. I suppose that's fair.
- 32:58So that's fair risk reward. I don't think, and correct me if
- 33:10I'm wrong, Phil, which happens periodically.
- 33:12Have we done a Julia Roberts movie in our five years?
- 33:15Together. Good question.
- 33:16I don't know that we have. I don't off the top of my head.
- 33:19Thinks. She's not an actor that I
- 33:20particularly gravitate towards. No, but she's in like an Oscar
- 33:24level female. Performer 100.
- 33:26Percent and I'm thinking of our year end reviews and she's never
- 33:29come up even as a as a as a runner up so I.
- 33:32I don't know. I mean, she's a superstar, but I
- 33:34don't know. I mean, she won the Oscar for
- 33:36Erin Brockovich in the year, in this year, I think 2002. 1001
- 33:39two thousand was a. Soderberg movie.
- 33:41Yeah, he in traffic. He was kind of competing against
- 33:43himself. Oh wow.
- 33:44Tough break. Coincidentally, I saw two
- 33:46Soderberg movies in the theater this year alone.
- 33:47I believe it black. Bag and presents so he's still
- 33:52churn them out. Good for him, good for him.
- 33:54I think she's a little overrated.
- 33:56Yeah, I'm not a huge fan and. I'm not necessarily saying
- 34:00performance wise, like talent wise, I don't think she's just
- 34:02good looking. Wow, yeah, it's not my type.
- 34:04Just bringing it all the way down to more bassist.
- 34:07More of a Salma Hayek kind of guy.
- 34:09Yeah. Checks out who was in the movie
- 34:11with George Clooney but that's we'll come up the show
- 34:14eventually I'm. Looking at it right now, Phil
- 34:17Dust still done right there it is.
- 34:20But none nonetheless. She's introduced nothing we can
- 34:22do about it. She's here, she's not going
- 34:24anywhere. Great star presence, if not
- 34:25anything. Else I mean, I'm she's fine in
- 34:27this movie, don't get me wrong. She actually has some really
- 34:29good lines we'll get to in a moment with.
- 34:31Clooney some good on screen chemistry.
- 34:34Absolutely. Yeah, we got Andy Garcia, the
- 34:37sort of the antagonist. Yeah, you are definitely a big
- 34:40Garcia fan. This is like our 4th Garcia
- 34:42movie. I was thinking that just
- 34:43released, and I bought the 4K of Things to Do in Dendra When
- 34:47You're Dead available in the archives, of course.
- 34:49Yeah. And I watched that movie and
- 34:51there's a couple of shots where he's walking and I'm like, I
- 34:53love that walk, man. This guy is great and I love
- 34:56that movie Things to Do. But yeah, I'm definitely a
- 34:58Garcia guy. This is a few.
- 35:00This is another in the list, yeah, of Garcia performances
- 35:03that I just love. He's got a swagger.
- 35:05Yep, got a swagger, Terry Benedict Damon is trying to
- 35:08watch him. Basically, he's trying to get a
- 35:10sense as to this guy. Routinement is routine.
- 35:12That's. That's Damon's job.
- 35:14Correct and. He's doing a good job.
- 35:16That's right. So he's end up kind of observing
- 35:18who this woman is. He's not sure, but we got a
- 35:21great scene between, as you're saying, the chemistry.
- 35:23Julia and George talk to me about that scene.
- 35:25Well, it's it's the scene where has the most memorable lines.
- 35:29Yes, personally sure. I think if correct me if I'm
- 35:31wrong and she approaches them, she's startled.
- 35:34He he approaches her, she's at the table.
- 35:37Waiting for Andy and she's a little startled, of course.
- 35:40Understandably so, because they are they.
- 35:41Last time he was in prison. Yeah, and he left for cigarettes
- 35:45and never came back, and she doesn't smoke another.
- 35:49Is he questionable? So obviously there's some
- 35:52tension. Yep, she's a little upset about
- 35:54the whole thing. Sure, he's a liar and a thief
- 35:56and a thief. Not a good combination, but they
- 35:58usually tend to go hand in hand. But they only lied about being a
- 36:02thief. That's.
- 36:03A That's a great line. But he, you know, everyone
- 36:06deserves a second chance. That's how the saying goes.
- 36:09He's paid his debt to society. Funny, I never got my check.
- 36:13Great line, phenomenal line, and she delivers it well.
- 36:16That's why she wins. That's why she wins Oscars.
- 36:19Yeah, lines like that. The other great line is Clooney
- 36:22saying because she's with Benedict.
- 36:24Let's get that out there. They're in a relationship.
- 36:26That's right, a situation ship, if you will.
- 36:29Does he make you laugh? What did she say?
- 36:31He doesn't make me cry. That's good.
- 36:34Brilliant line. And I feel like, wow, I've
- 36:36probably made a lot of women cry.
- 36:37I made a lot of women laugh. A funny guy.
- 36:39Too, I have to tell you, I. Don't know what I know what the
- 36:41ratio is though. I don't know if I'm ahead of the
- 36:43game or I'm sure behind or even Steven.
- 36:46I don't know. Yeah, the idea of laughter being
- 36:48a part of a relationship is pretty huge.
- 36:50In the absence of that, it's painful.
- 36:52Very painful, very painful. But yeah, great, great couple
- 36:55lines. It gives the sense of those
- 36:56relationships being long lasting and that is not easy to do in
- 37:01dealing with chemistry. And I find the same thing with
- 37:02he and Pitt in this movie, where this is a relationship that
- 37:05existed before the frame one and will continue after the end of
- 37:09the movie. And why the sequels become
- 37:11interesting or why Wolfs becomes a thing.
- 37:14Clooney and Julia made a movie recently.
- 37:16Returned to the paradise or something.
- 37:18Was she in the American? No.
- 37:19No, OK. My mistake, but.
- 37:22That kind of chemistry is you can well.
- 37:24Put a price tag on chemistry helps cover up the fact that we
- 37:28don't have a lot of back story. No, you don't need it.
- 37:30Well, because of the chemistry. Exactly.
- 37:31That's what I'm saying. A couple of lines like that,
- 37:33right? You went out, you disappeared,
- 37:35and now you're. Back that's that's the story,
- 37:37yeah. Monet Manet, Zippy, Zippy Day
- 37:39day. You know, the two painters, one
- 37:41that's syphilis. Apparently you don't want that.
- 37:44I guess it's treatable now maybe, but back then it was a it
- 37:47was a bit of an issue. Yeah, we thought measles was
- 37:49treatable too, but well. You know, turns out one of the
- 37:52greats, one of the classics, is back.
- 37:54Yeah. There's a scene coming up where
- 37:57Damon is sort of being tasked with watching Clooney, correct.
- 38:01And there's a shot that reminds me a lot of Strangers on a
- 38:04Train, a great Hitchcock movie, which will eventually come off
- 38:07the shelf. Yes, of course, you know, sooner
- 38:09or later. But there's a a sequence in that
- 38:11that we'll we'll talk about, but.
- 38:13This is very, very decent. Where Clooney is looking
- 38:16straight at Benedict and Damon is looking straight at Clooney
- 38:20and everybody else. Is looking, yeah.
- 38:22Turns around to look at, of course, the explosion of the
- 38:25demolition of the the Sands or whatever hotel that was.
- 38:28Yeah, yeah. And we've got Basher.
- 38:31Talk to me Basher. This is just really funny.
- 38:34This movie tries to be funny a couple times.
- 38:37This is funny. This is just naturally funny.
- 38:39He's watching it on TV. Yeah.
- 38:41And it's happening right behind him, and he's got this giant
- 38:44window in his hotel. And yeah, anyway, it's a very
- 38:48short scene, but I think it's just a great opportunity to have
- 38:51a little humor in this movie. This movie needs to be a little
- 38:55bit funny because a movie with this kind of chemistry, it's
- 38:58going to have some moments like that loosen up a little bit.
- 39:01I found a movie pretty loose and pretty funny throughout, but
- 39:04they're this is like clearly a comedic moment, whereas the rest
- 39:06of it is more kind of charm. And yeah, right.
- 39:09And that goes a long way. But this is definitely like a
- 39:11joke, which I think is kind of funny.
- 39:13Now I I prefer the the swirl but basher.
- 39:17Prefers the pinch, sorry knuckle involved.
- 39:23I appreciate you getting that reference one of the.
- 39:26Few. One of the few I will.
- 39:29But there's a bit of an issue that was caused actually by said
- 39:33demolition, because Bashor is the explosives expert.
- 39:38He's that's his job. Basically, they find out that
- 39:41they did what he was going to do, so they did it.
- 39:43Before that they were gonna do it.
- 39:45So now they've caught on. So basically they had a way in.
- 39:47Yeah. And now they're.
- 39:48Gonna fix this and. Now they're gonna fix the way
- 39:50in, Yeah, and that's gonna cause some complications and some
- 39:53problems. Yep, Yep, Yep, Yep, Yep, Yep.
- 39:55But it's. An opportunity for the movie, in
- 39:59my view to for the first time and really the only time.
- 40:02And it's not for very long, but I find myself bored.
- 40:05I think this sequence. Where they're getting in the van
- 40:10and they're going to get the chemical from this building.
- 40:13Damon chases after him. He's thinking the twins were
- 40:15bickering. Again and getting the the dog
- 40:18kind of chasing him and just they're driving away.
- 40:20Then they have to back up to get like all of that sequence.
- 40:23It's not long. It's maybe 10 minutes.
- 40:24But I, I think most of that, if not all of it could be excised.
- 40:27And it's only gotten worse every time I watch this movie.
- 40:30Like a less and less. I like it less and less.
- 40:32It takes me more and more off. Glad to hear it.
- 40:36That you didn't enjoy it brings me pleasure.
- 40:37That when you don't enjoy things.
- 40:40I agree and it seems like a lot to do just to hurt the hand of
- 40:44the grease man. That's all it's for basically.
- 40:47And to create a little tension between Damon and Clooney.
- 40:50That is true. That is true.
- 40:52It's a lot just to do. That that's the thing.
- 40:54I just think it drags. I think it's, it's not really
- 40:56propelling the story forward. It's not that interesting.
- 40:59It's I don't think shot particularly.
- 41:00It's just it's everything that is wrong with the movie exist to
- 41:04me in this 10 minutes and after that I think it's back on the
- 41:07rails because we get the blow up, if you will, between Rusty
- 41:11and and Danny Ocean, right, you're out.
- 41:13You can't be trusted. You put test Julius character
- 41:16ahead of us. That's a problem no longer
- 41:18right. So he's on the women.
- 41:20Cloud everything that's from Pearl Harbor, buddy.
- 41:22Sure. Cloud the mind.
- 41:24If you think about rocky women, weaken legs as well.
- 41:27There you go. So it might be some truth to it.
- 41:36We have a Mr. Megorium moment here.
- 41:39I don't know if you picked up on it.
- 41:40It's a little obscure. Please tell him.
- 41:42I'm going to throw it to you, though, because now Damon's the
- 41:44the Clooney role in this. He's got a kind of sub in yes,
- 41:48so so Pitts giving kind of a rundown like if you're lying,
- 41:52don't look up. Yeah, like do these things.
- 41:54You got all these tips and then he said under no circumstances
- 41:58and then he's pulled away and he's left hanging.
- 42:00Damon's like what under what don't do you know it's.
- 42:02Just that's right. That is like Magorium.
- 42:04I I didn't pick up on that at the moment, but that is a
- 42:06Magorium phone call moment. REM sleep, buddy.
- 42:08Under any circumstances, don't. And then that's it.
- 42:12That's great. Yeah.
- 42:13I like that scene, though. You have to be present without
- 42:15being obvious. You have to be ambivalent
- 42:16without being caring. You have to.
- 42:18He does that and like be funny without being funny and then he
- 42:22has that line which. Were under no circumstances
- 42:24should you that's it. I love it and I think that Damon
- 42:30now his his opportunity. This is showcase yeah because up
- 42:33until now he hasn't really had he's been a side player much
- 42:36like his career. This is really young like he's
- 42:38true. I mean, this early in five
- 42:39years, four years after goodwill.
- 42:41Goodwill, right? Like so it's a couple years
- 42:44after Talented Ripley. So he's definitely on the
- 42:47opposite. He hasn't gone out on his own
- 42:48yet but hasn't really a supporting guy until.
- 42:51Yeah. And if you look at it through 12
- 42:53and 13, he becomes a larger part of the ensemble, in part because
- 42:57he becomes just a bigger star. Yeah, which is kind of
- 43:00interesting, just the trajectory of that.
- 43:02I like him. Yeah, I think he's great.
- 43:03I think he's great as the gaming commissioner.
- 43:05He kind of shows up. He's kind of rightfully nerdy.
- 43:07Yeah, he's good to look for him. And they're trying to bust Ramon
- 43:10Frank. And this is a great, great scene
- 43:13where you could tell he's he's frustrating Garcia.
- 43:16Everything has to happen like, perfectly, you know, like the
- 43:18right. Yeah.
- 43:19These movies because exactly, it's like 1/2 fraction off.
- 43:22It's the whole thing falls apart in the movies.
- 43:23Bullshit. Yeah, all movies we've ever
- 43:25talked about. You kind of have to buy into it
- 43:28because plausibility isn't its strong suit if you're telling a
- 43:31story this detailed. Yeah, it did sneak into my my
- 43:34conscious a couple of times where the stars need to align so
- 43:38many times, but I I was able to defend it off.
- 43:41It's kind of the. Fun of it sometimes too, I
- 43:43think, you know, if you let yourself enjoy it, there are
- 43:46moments where you're just like, God, that the intricacy of that
- 43:49is, is the fun part, rather than that's bullshit, that wouldn't
- 43:52happen, right? It's like a fine line between
- 43:54engaging with it and then being, yeah, dismissed by it, you know?
- 43:58In terms of my my wife, she says don't be negative.
- 44:00Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. It's good advice.
- 44:02Yeah, it is. Give it a try.
- 44:03Now just negative just for fun. Now.
- 44:06Now you can just poke it. Right.
- 44:07Yeah, easy peasy. You're like laughing on the
- 44:09inside. I love the stuff with Ramon.
- 44:11I love the way that he gets challenged for being racist and
- 44:15Damon's delivery of horrible, horrible, you know, to say it
- 44:19just that Interplay I thought was really.
- 44:21Good. Yeah, Damon plays that character
- 44:23perfectly. Yes.
- 44:24Well, called him a colored person.
- 44:26Yeah. Yeah.
- 44:28It's a good, good interaction with them.
- 44:30One of the names we haven't mentioned, of course, is Carl
- 44:32Reiner playing Saul. Yeah, He's got a great line.
- 44:36When Pitt goes to pick him up, he says, I saw you before you
- 44:38even woke up to. Yeah.
- 44:39Like that's a that was that. I do like that line.
- 44:41It's a good line. He gets to wear silk, yes.
- 44:44What's your silk inventory like? Well, we talked about this.
- 44:47Before I think we did, didn't we?
- 44:48Yeah, Underwear. Maybe a monk episode you
- 44:51remember farting through silk? Oh, yes, yes.
- 44:53Classic line that will stand the test of time no doubt.
- 44:56Tell the film buddy. Hell of a film, but I can see
- 45:01where seen like quite earlier where Clooney isn't quite
- 45:04confident and saw mainly he's getting older.
- 45:07Maybe he's lost his touch and he he set some straight pretty
- 45:10quick, but I get the impression through trying to practice his
- 45:15accent. But then he gets it.
- 45:16Then he's like, now he's like locked in.
- 45:18Totally. But we're at the point where I
- 45:20believe he needs to fake. A heart attack.
- 45:23That's right. I think he's faking.
- 45:24Well, we find out he's faking, right?
- 45:26But it doesn't look like that because again, he's ahead of us
- 45:28because they've established that he might not be up to it.
- 45:31He's not eating a lot of his vitamins.
- 45:33And then we're watching this movie, we're like, Oh my God,
- 45:35God, he's blowing it. And it plays out until.
- 45:38We need tension. We got to call a doctor.
- 45:40Who's the doctor? It's.
- 45:42Brad Penta. That's of course that nice look.
- 45:45Nice wig. Yeah, Wig and I think a mustache
- 45:47maybe. I don't know, I can't remember,
- 45:48but it glasses glasses. And he's like, we've lost them,
- 45:51right? Just.
- 45:52Great, Great stuff. Yeah, everything's happening
- 45:54according to plan for the most part.
- 45:56That's right. There's that little briefcase on
- 45:59top of grease, man. Oh, yeah, Because he's inside
- 46:01now. That's right.
- 46:02He's got 30 minutes to breathe in that little box.
- 46:05Yep. Just so you know, I don't sure
- 46:07if you're aware of that. 30 minutes on the clock.
- 46:09Absolutely. You know this movie does.
- 46:11It has to, right? It's the little things to create
- 46:13the tension. These things can't go
- 46:14completely. Smooth.
- 46:15Yeah, that's the thing. It's it's built on that tension.
- 46:18Even if we all know like a prequel, like we all know it's
- 46:20going to work out. It's how it works out.
- 46:22That's the fun part. Gotta have some hiccups.
- 46:24And where those opportunities happen and don't happen, I think
- 46:27is what sells it. Speaking of hiccups, when's the
- 46:29last time you've had hiccups? Just yesterday.
- 46:31Really. Yeah, I don't think I've had
- 46:32hiccups, knock on wood. Wow for like.
- 46:35You. Years.
- 46:36Wow. Yeah, I just the other day as I
- 46:38was departing the office, I was like, I let a loud one out.
- 46:41I couldn't help it. And it was.
- 46:43Was it A1 and done? Or Oh yeah.
- 46:44Oh well, that's often just. AI don't really.
- 46:47Oh, I have a one and. Done.
- 46:47There's like a one I'm. Talking like 10 minutes it.
- 46:49Was one. Oh no, certainly never like
- 46:51that. Because I think they're on the
- 46:52way out. I think whatever we're doing to
- 46:54ourselves, I think hiccups are phased out.
- 46:56I think they're phasing out. All right, interesting.
- 46:58And with the COVID the rest. Of us are, you know, everything
- 47:00else is dying and depleted. We've solved the hiccup.
- 47:03We lose measles, but we gain hiccups.
- 47:05Perfect. Can't win more, buddy.
- 47:08Now the hand comes into play. Now with Greasepan.
- 47:12The big payoff. Yeah, that's right.
- 47:13The big payoff. It's amazing.
- 47:15They're about to blow the door. Yeah.
- 47:17Clooney and what's his face? Damon Damon down the tunnel.
- 47:21Now we've revealed that Clooney was in on it the whole time.
- 47:24Was never. Out.
- 47:25He's got somebody pretending to beat him up.
- 47:26That's right. He knows everybody.
- 47:28Yeah, yeah, they're all worked. Out he's stuck by the door, a
- 47:31grease man is and they're trying to, you know, press the The
- 47:34detonator. Yep.
- 47:35And it's it's not, it's not working.
- 47:37That's right. Check the batteries slapping
- 47:39around. Yeah.
- 47:41It's kind of funny. Yeah, Yeah.
- 47:42It's just, I think it's just another one of those.
- 47:44I don't think it's really a great joke.
- 47:46Yeah, but it's. It's it's covering up the
- 47:48contrivance of it with a, with a funny moment.
- 47:50Yeah. And.
- 47:51It's a bit of a contrivance on a contrivance really, because
- 47:53you're like, of course. Contrivance squared.
- 47:55He's the guy's gonna have a problem.
- 47:57We've established also the, you know, every whatever could go
- 48:01wrong is going wrong kind of stuff.
- 48:04I find it effective. But yeah, it's it's not a yeah,
- 48:07hilarious. It's just like, oh, here's the
- 48:08payoff. It's effective, just like the
- 48:11explosive. So they've blown it up.
- 48:12Luckily, Greasepan was able to get cover.
- 48:15That's right, And they're in. They're in.
- 48:17They're in. And they end up doing the thing
- 48:20and. And they're doing the thing.
- 48:22They're doing the things. And Garcia's got one of the
- 48:25great lines. Congratulations.
- 48:27You're a dead man. Yeah.
- 48:28That's not very nice thing to say, but we've they've alluded
- 48:31to this guy being a bad guy, almost like somebody who would
- 48:33who would buckwit you. Yeah, almost.
- 48:35What I, I find really funny is that he's being menacing.
- 48:38Yes, This is a monologue now, right?
- 48:40I have two words for, you know, run and hide somewhere where
- 48:43you're shitting, somewhere where you're doing all this sort of
- 48:45stuff. And he's like, hello?
- 48:48Are you there? Like Pitt just totally drops the
- 48:50phone like it means nothing. So I kind of like the
- 48:52contradiction in that. It made me smile.
- 48:55That's a fun scene. Yeah, yeah.
- 48:57They've got the kind of cut that out with the the van, right,
- 49:01Because we're trying to say that we've already robbed you and
- 49:03we're going to take half your money and the other half is in
- 49:06the van. I thought that was.
- 49:07Right out the van stuff is another.
- 49:09It's the other part of the movie that I'm like, I don't really
- 49:11care about the van. The selfless driver driving out
- 49:14with the coupons in the back. Another another payout everyone
- 49:17out like yeah, you. Know but the remote control with
- 49:19Casey Affleck this is just all like yeah set up some payouts.
- 49:22So I don't, I doesn't bother me, but it's not my favorite kind of
- 49:25moment. I find at the end of the movie
- 49:26things are ramping to a certain thing that this deviation, it's
- 49:29a little like I'm ready to get get to the sort of big payoff.
- 49:33Yeah. And I find this is a slight
- 49:34deviation that takes me a little bit out of the.
- 49:36I'm sorry to hear. Just a brief little.
- 49:37Yeah, Well, come on back, Come on back.
- 49:41And then we kind of go into the montage.
- 49:43Sort of what happened? Yeah, like check the tape and
- 49:46look at the things and check Bellagio.
- 49:48Is it on the yeah, the ground, right.
- 49:50We've been duped. Yeah, it ties up pretty well how
- 49:52they pulled it off, essentially. Yeah, and that's good.
- 49:55These movies are about that. Yeah.
- 49:56The same writer directed Matchstick Men a couple years
- 49:59after this. Not sure if you know that one,
- 50:01but another con movie with Sam Rockwell and Nicholas Cage.
- 50:03Okay. Directed by Ridley Scott.
- 50:05Okay, I saw that movie theater as well.
- 50:07I don't think as good as this. Person wait, is it not coming
- 50:10off the show it's. Good off the shelf Let's.
- 50:12All right, let's. Be clear, check in.
- 50:15But yeah, anyway, so Garcia knows Denny's involved, so he
- 50:20has to go to the goes to the to the office.
- 50:23Yeah, no windows in here. And he goes and he finds Danny
- 50:25getting beat up. That worked out really well.
- 50:28Timing. Is impeccable.
- 50:29That was yeah. You just got a yeah, OK, got a
- 50:32knack. He's got a knack.
- 50:33But I mean, played the dialogue and how he's coming on as as I
- 50:37don't know, like what happened? What are you talking about?
- 50:39What? Are you talking about right?
- 50:40Yeah. Plays exhausted.
- 50:41He plays all those things very well, yeah.
- 50:43I think the highlight of that scene is when he thinks he's in
- 50:46on it, right? But then he says, well, if you
- 50:49give up testing, I will, you know, I know a guy.
- 50:52Yeah. And then in his response, like
- 50:54he he acts like he doesn't know what happening, but I I can find
- 50:57out what happened. That's right.
- 50:58And he plays that really well where I can buy into the fact
- 51:01that, OK, you maybe you weren't in on it.
- 51:03And I'm thinking from a Garcia's point of view, like, OK, well,
- 51:05maybe he wasn't in on it. Yeah, but it's the closest I can
- 51:07get because I trust that my guy is beating the crap out of this
- 51:10guy now for two hours or an hour, if not your guy by that
- 51:13whole scene. And I also enjoy how fast it he
- 51:17was willing to dump test. Yeah, that hurts.
- 51:19And she's watching it because someone's always watching it's.
- 51:22Always watching in your hotels nether payouts and payouts buddy
- 51:25that's screenwriter 101 yeah definitely.
- 51:27So I really. Like that Soderbergh hitting all
- 51:30the payouts knows what's up. And we get what it ultimately my
- 51:33favorite scene in the movie. Oh.
- 51:34It's this late. Yeah, wow.
- 51:36I like a lot of this movies we already established, but the the
- 51:39closing moments at the Bellagio fountains.
- 51:42You like that? As the sort of beautiful music
- 51:44is playing, I. Figured you'd like.
- 51:45That's a Phil scene. It's a place I've been often
- 51:48staring at those fountains. So I said to my wife, like, this
- 51:50is a Phil scene, by the way. She's like, OK, whatever.
- 51:53I love it. I love the score, I love the
- 51:56moment, I like how they all, at their own pace, show up at the
- 51:59fountain. And their own pace.
- 52:01And their own pace, they leave to get eleven faces in a shot.
- 52:05And he's, you know, Soderbergh can do it.
- 52:07He's fantastic. And then the fountains itself,
- 52:10it's just a really beautiful, as I said, a guy that loves to
- 52:12Vegas and loves going to Vegas doesn't make me want to gamble
- 52:15necessarily, but it does make me want to stand in front of that
- 52:17fountain and absorb the kind of beauty of the majesty of of
- 52:21those performances. Then go gamble.
- 52:23And then gamble, of course. So I'm going to gamble, let's be
- 52:25clear. But it drives us to stand at the
- 52:27fountain and watch that happen more so than it is to sit down
- 52:30at a blackjack. Table.
- 52:30It was ranked the 7th best fountain in the world.
- 52:34Fun fact. Fun fact, you sort of mentioned
- 52:42the score. Yeah, but you never really
- 52:43talked about it. That's right.
- 52:44We didn't talk about the music. Let me tell you, it suits the
- 52:46movie. It's fine.
- 52:47But after the third time watching the movie, it started
- 52:50to get a little bit on my nerve. There's like a one hit pony, a
- 52:54lot of it. Sure, sure.
- 52:55I'm like, OK, I've heard enough. Yeah, that's fair.
- 52:58I like to use the little less conversation.
- 52:59That's the Elvis song that they used in Fred Claus.
- 53:03Yeah. Came out a couple years after
- 53:04this. So this was the sort of starting
- 53:05point of that. Yeah.
- 53:06But yeah, the score itself, this is not even a score piece.
- 53:09I think it's just an, it's a classical piece of music that
- 53:12they play over it. It's.
- 53:13I don't think it's written specifically for the Orner.
- 53:16Not a Howard. No, certainly not a Williams.
- 53:18Certainly. Not we all know it's not a
- 53:20Zimmerd. We all need to say it.
- 53:23Yeah. But yeah, I just, I think it's
- 53:25really beautiful and it's a nice culmination because you really
- 53:27get a sense that, again, this was a team I did anticipate, but
- 53:31I didn't know that there would be a sequel.
- 53:32Right. So this is your your pay off of
- 53:35the whole thing. I thought that's a nice way to
- 53:38kind of button the movie. And then we go back to prison 3
- 53:42to 6, three to six, because test runs out.
- 53:45Basically tests and says, like, you're my husband.
- 53:46That's my husband. She turned around pretty quick
- 53:49on that. Yeah, whatever.
- 53:50Well, when you get she's clearly a serial monogamist, you know
- 53:53she's needy. We don't really know much about
- 53:55her. She's needy, is what we know all
- 53:57right? She can't be single.
- 53:59Apparently not. Right, jumps right from Danny to
- 54:01to Benedict. Yeah, Benedict says.
- 54:04I'll trade this money woman for cash.
- 54:06Yeah. That's a lot of cash, though.
- 54:08Right, back to Danny. I'd be flattered to say if I was
- 54:10worth 80 million. Sure.
- 54:12I mean, yeah, I'm. My wife's like, you're probably
- 54:14100,000 tops, you know? That's how much I'm worth.
- 54:16That's a. That's a, that's a big yeah,
- 54:18core in the paperwork. Yeah, yeah.
- 54:21Life insurance policy, yeah. But she flips rather easily.
- 54:24I'm I'm OK with that. I like Pitts line.
- 54:27Hope you were the groom. Yes, you know.
- 54:29Yeah, that's. Cute.
- 54:30It is cute. And that's it.
- 54:32They've Pitts back to pick him up.
- 54:34Kind of a full circle moment. Yeah, they gotta find him a man.
- 54:36He's got to find him a woman. Yeah, sure.
- 54:39A mother even. We've got we've got Tess in the
- 54:43backseat and they just drive off and sure enough, like Andy
- 54:47Garcia said, they're being tabled.
- 54:48I do like Clooney, one of his last lines says, because he's
- 54:51got, I think Pitt says I have your belongings in the car and
- 54:54he looks in and like, I don't think that's mine necessarily
- 54:56referring to Tess. Tess.
- 54:58Yeah, I think that's cute. Sure.
- 55:00Modern, modern man. Yeah.
- 55:02Women aren't possessions. Heavens, no.
- 55:04Well, that's it, David. It's.
- 55:07Come here Phil, give me your final.
- 55:08Thought you're gonna jump in. OK, well, I have to tell you, I
- 55:10love the movie. I thought you might.
- 55:12It's a it's a it's a rare case of coming off your shelf, but
- 55:15it's also on mine. 4K dual 1112 and 13.
- 55:21It's incredibly watchable. I don't see it a lot.
- 55:23It's been a while since I've watched it, but every time I do,
- 55:25I'm reminded it's watchable, but I don't watch it.
- 55:27I haven't watched it in a while, but every time I do, I'm
- 55:30reminded of how it just goes along in a great clip.
- 55:34Performances are just right on point, nothing really special I
- 55:38think about the city we live in and it shows up often in the
- 55:41great places to live in the country because here, OK, it
- 55:45ranks kind of like 8 at everything.
- 55:48Whereas other cities like Vancouver will be beauty 10.
- 55:52But affordability 3 got you right.
- 55:54And so there's big swings across the the country, whereas here
- 55:58it's like solid, we've got water, we've got this, we've got
- 56:02that, it's this. It's got to have every ability
- 56:03as well. You've got to have power.
- 56:04You got to have pitching and have fielding and have speed.
- 56:06But that's right. You know, I know.
- 56:08So by the time you put it all together, you're like, oh, wait,
- 56:09this is actually a great place. And this movie is kind of one of
- 56:12those where nothing is great, nothing is exceptional, but
- 56:15everything delivers above its weight, I think.
- 56:18And so by the end of it, I'm like, fuck, I love this movie.
- 56:20And that's really at the end of the day, my take away is like,
- 56:22God, I still love this movie. 20 years.
- 56:25Later, But the question is, would you recommend it?
- 56:26100 absolutely my gift to you, Phil.
- 56:29I'll keep keep on giving. Maybe we'll get the other two
- 56:32this year. Perhaps you know it's early.
- 56:34Sure. It's only half.
- 56:35It's May. I mean, it's May.
- 56:37LA King's rather playoffs now. Yes, yes, Listen to a couple
- 56:40episodes ago and it was full of hope and dreams.
- 56:43Yeah. And kind of like this movie, to
- 56:45me is I feel like is a little bit overrated.
- 56:48OK, like the kings? Like the Kings?
- 56:49Didn't quite have enough depth. Yeah, I don't know that this is
- 56:52a movie that you need depth. No, you don't need it.
- 56:54I I guess I wanted to. I was in the movie.
- 56:57You do be clear about that. Ironically, there's a deep
- 56:58bench, very, very deep, deep bench.
- 57:01Not a lot of character growth or or building.
- 57:03And then I understand that's not what this movie is about.
- 57:06So let's let's be clear. I enjoyed the film, OK, but I
- 57:10didn't enjoy as much as you. I don't think the scorn IMED is
- 57:13quite accurate. What is it?
- 57:15High dates. 7.7 OK, I give it a 7.1 yeah, that's. .6 Points
- 57:21that's that's your big, that's your big push back, that's your
- 57:24big push back. I don't think this movie is as
- 57:27good as that score. I'm going to take it down .6.
- 57:30I think I probably would have enjoyed it more if I had watched
- 57:34it maybe 15 years ago. I think the coolness is not as
- 57:38cool, yeah, a little bit. But I don't like to to knock
- 57:41that again. So I'm just knocking .6 for that
- 57:44for that reason. But I saw a movie and I would
- 57:47say I'm I'm looking forward to the next two.
- 57:49There is like a, a, a space for this type of movie, the heist
- 57:53movie because there is like montage availability big time
- 57:58deep bench like like you said. So how is it?
- 58:00Done. How are they going to get out of
- 58:01this one? Yeah.
- 58:02So there is that attraction to these type of movies and and
- 58:05some obviously do it better than others.
- 58:06I think this one for me is just right down the middle of the
- 58:08road when it comes to those type of films, but happy to bring it
- 58:11off my shelf. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
