Transcript
- 0:06Hello, what's your least favorite scary movie?
- 0:15Welcome to What's Your Least Favorite Scary Movie?
- 0:17The podcast where we talk about the good, the bad, the ugly and
- 0:19the absurd and all of our favorite.
- 0:21And least favorite? Scary movies.
- 0:22Because we believe every horror movie rightfully has this fan
- 0:25base. Even if we don't always get it.
- 0:27My name is Travis. My name is Jesse and we're back
- 0:29and we're finally talking about the best Hostel in the
- 0:33franchise. As you can tell, Travis is very
- 0:38thrilled and I am very thrilled. So we're in for a good time.
- 0:42But first, I have no announcements, but I do believe
- 0:45Travis has some poll results for us.
- 0:46I sure do. So we talked about which movie
- 0:50was it? Pieces.
- 0:52Yes. The Chainsaw movie.
- 0:54Yeah, yeah. Chainsaw Bastard Man.
- 0:56Chainsaw Bastard Man. We talked about that last week.
- 0:58So we asked everybody the following for our poll.
- 1:04Which movie is the Chainsaw movie?
- 1:08So on Twitter, 8% voted for pieces, 92% voted for Texas
- 1:14Chainsaw Massacre, and on Instagram, 29% pieces.
- 1:18Wow. 71% Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
- 1:20Instagram a little bit more with it than I.
- 1:22Expected. You know, I'm actually happy
- 1:23that Pieces does get some votes because that proves that some
- 1:27people do call it the chainsaw movie.
- 1:29Yeah, yeah. And for me, it's always going to
- 1:32be Texas Chainsaw because that is the chainsaw movie.
- 1:35It's the original. It beat it by like a not quite a
- 1:38decade, but almost. Yes, it is the chainsaw movie.
- 1:41However, the chainsaw movie as per video violence is pieces.
- 1:46So it depends on how deep in the lore we're going.
- 1:48But because of that movie, video violence is also the chainsaw
- 1:55movie for me now because I have been referring to it as that.
- 1:58So yeah. Oh, is that exactly OK?
- 2:01I just reworded it. Yeah.
- 2:02For the people who have brains like me, That's how you think
- 2:04about that. That was like such a typical
- 2:07joke, like from a sitcom about a man taking a woman's idea.
- 2:11It's. Like a It's always sunny right
- 2:15there. What they do to?
- 2:15D Yes. Man, all right, Smart.
- 2:17You guys so good at this shit. OK, so now we're going to go
- 2:22ahead and we're going to talk about hostile part three.
- 2:25Would you like to? Rewind.
- 2:27No man, Go, go. You're doing a fantastic job.
- 2:30You're speaking in just like a man would.
- 2:33You're doing. Great.
- 2:34Good job. OK, I kid so.
- 2:37I just don't want people to actually think I am like that,
- 2:42no. Shut up.
- 2:42OK, let's. Go What about Hostile Part 3?
- 2:45OK, Hostile Part Three was released direct to DVD and
- 2:48streaming on December 27th, 2011.
- 2:52We watched it on Prime because as of today it's currently not
- 2:55streaming anywhere, very sadly. And we we tried fighting with
- 2:59our DVD. Yeah, we have the DVD, we have
- 3:01this on DVD and the Xbox just said no.
- 3:04It's not the Xbox's fault though, the disc looks like it
- 3:09should be flawless, but the closer I looked at it I could
- 3:12see some like some probably critical scratches on it that is
- 3:17causing it to not be readable anymore.
- 3:19I just also feel like your Xbox is in it's like conservative Fox
- 3:25News era where it's not willing. To take.
- 3:28Don't put it in that life. Willing to take anything that
- 3:32doesn't fit its world view. So if you like looked at a DVD
- 3:36wrong before you put it in the Xbox.
- 3:38Xbox is like, I don't think so, how dare you?
- 3:40What if the Xbox is trying to protect me?
- 3:42Like you don't like this movie, man, don't put it in there.
- 3:47Oh, Xbox, Maybe your own. You can also rent it.
- 3:50If you don't want to rent it from Prime, you can rent it from
- 3:52Google Play, YouTube, or Fandango at Home.
- 3:55Written by Michael D Weiss. Based on characters by Eli Roth,
- 4:00directed by Scott Spiegel, music by Frederick Weidman, and
- 4:04special effects makeup by Russell Tyrell and Shane
- 4:07Lambert. Starring Kip Pardew is Carter,
- 4:11Brian Hallesay is Scott. John Hensley is Justin, Skylar
- 4:15Stone is Mike, Sarah Hybel as Kendra, Zellay Hanno as Nikki,
- 4:21Chris Coy as Travis, Thomas Kretchman is Fleming, Nicholas
- 4:26Shreli is Victor, and Kelly Thybaud as Amy.
- 4:31Man, that's some names right there.
- 4:32Yes, Interesting. OK, yes.
- 4:34I couldn't, I couldn't narrow down the list any, so I was
- 4:37like, I feel like they all have relevance to the.
- 4:39Plot. Yeah, they do.
- 4:40It's not a big cast. Yeah.
- 4:43There's enough there to be a decent chunk.
- 4:45But you know what's good for a decent chunk?
- 4:47What our favorite game budget or bucketed?
- 4:51Do you have one for this? I do.
- 4:53Wow, really? Oh shit.
- 4:55Well, bugged up, yes. Yeah, definitely bugged up
- 4:58straight to DVD. Yes.
- 5:00And because of that, I only have the bugged head.
- 5:02I don't have the box office information, but I can tell you
- 5:05they were working on a $6 million budget.
- 5:08That's a lot more than I expected.
- 5:09Yeah, it has an IMDb score of 4.6 out of 10.
- 5:14That's a lot higher than I expected.
- 5:16Honestly, me too, because I know I'm in the minority for loving
- 5:19this one. Yeah, OK.
- 5:22I picked 3 movies from 2011. What's the theme?
- 5:25The theme is trips that went really badly.
- 5:28Good job. That's really fitting.
- 5:30OK. The first one is the task.
- 5:33We watched that. Didn't we?
- 5:34Yes, We have talked about this on the podcast briefly.
- 5:37It was part of our Texas Battle Triple feature.
- 5:39Yeah, Yeah. Where we also watched Wrong Turn
- 5:412 and Final Destination 3. All other bad trips, yes.
- 5:45Bad trip to the amusement park? Bad trip to West Virginia.
- 5:51You said that ominously. It's a very ominous place.
- 5:55April saying Dave Matthews and OK, so the task it's a reality
- 6:04TV show movie and they have to be in a haunted jail.
- 6:08So like wrong turn 2. Like wrong turn 2 so, but they
- 6:11weren't expecting it to actually be as bad as it was.
- 6:14That released July 14th, 2011. I don't have a budget but it did
- 6:19make one point, $6000 worldwide. Whoa, good job guys.
- 6:24That's it's the. One of the 8 horror films to die
- 6:28for. How they do those every?
- 6:29Year, yeah, it's the channel. IFC, I think, yes, Yeah, it's
- 6:34IFC they did that. Yes, it's got a 4.3 out of 10 on
- 6:37IMDb, which is about par for that's accurate these types of
- 6:40movies. Yeah, that's accurate.
- 6:42OK, second movie. We know this.
- 6:45We love this. We will eventually cover it on
- 6:47the show Vile. Oh, vile.
- 6:51Yeah. It is a messy movie.
- 6:53It makes no goddamn sense, but we love it.
- 6:56You know what? We went and saw Trap today too.
- 6:59We also love it. Just don't think about it.
- 7:01Have fun. Yeah.
- 7:02Trap for those who we we heard some shit about it and we both
- 7:06went in with like a positive mind frame and we both had a
- 7:09great time with that movie so. Because the premise falls apart
- 7:11the second you watch the trailer, so just don't go into.
- 7:15If you if you are into the idea of what goes on in the trailer
- 7:19and you subscribe and buy into that, I think you'll have a
- 7:21great time. It's fun, yeah.
- 7:23Just just have fun. So is file.
- 7:26And file is also very fitting to talk about when we're talking
- 7:29about, I saw these movies referred to as splatter horror,
- 7:33which I feel like is a much nicer way than saying torture
- 7:37porn. Yeah.
- 7:37Splatter horror does sound more. It's less.
- 7:43What am I trying to think of? It puts less of a tone to it,
- 7:48like a morality clause. Better Why kind?
- 7:51Of yes. Yeah, torture porn just kind of
- 7:53sounds like you're getting your rocks off on the whole.
- 7:55Thing yeah and that's not really what it is no so OK so vile
- 8:00released August 26th 2011 at the film for Fright Fest.
- 8:05I don't have a budget where a worldwide gross, but I have a
- 8:07very rude IMDb score 4.9. 4.9 That one is like it's a low
- 8:13budget, but I think that they did a really good job and they
- 8:16have a really interesting concept, like a good spin on
- 8:18that. And they have Beast Boy.
- 8:20They have Beast Boy. You're right.
- 8:22Oh fuck man. And it is distracting as hell
- 8:26watching them be like I hear Beast Boy.
- 8:28It's just kind of insane that that's his actual voice.
- 8:31I know you were like wait, but this is actually just how he
- 8:34talks. But what if it wasn't?
- 8:36What if that's just like his acting voice?
- 8:39It's like when you found out that Stevo just nobody told him
- 8:43not to talk that way, so that's how he talks.
- 8:47Yeah, that there's some insane shit right there.
- 8:50OK, third movie. OK?
- 8:52Also know that we love this and we'll talk about this someday,
- 8:55OK? Final Destination 5.
- 8:57Fuck yeah. Yeah, hell yeah.
- 8:58I love that movie. So and that was there on a
- 9:01corporate retreat type thing on a bus and it goes bad.
- 9:05On a bridge bus on a bridge. We don't like bridges, so we
- 9:09love Jeff Bridges. Though I was just thinking of
- 9:11Jeff was just like, hold on a second.
- 9:13We don't like bridges, but that's not inclusive.
- 9:16Yeah, OK, so I released August 12th, 2011 on a budget of 40
- 9:21million and a worldwide gross of 157 point something million.
- 9:26That sounds right. IMDb score.
- 9:28And I'm just gonna say it and I say it a lot, but I'm gonna say
- 9:30it for this. It's.
- 9:31Rude. 5.9 out of 10. Yeah, that one is really good.
- 9:36I don't think it deserves. I think it deserves it to be in
- 9:38the sixes at least. Yes, and the twist at the end
- 9:41got me. It's a really good.
- 9:43One good yeah I remember leaving the theater cuz we were with our
- 9:46friend Taylor and we were all just like didn't see that
- 9:49coming. I'm glad that I didn't know
- 9:51about that. Yeah, until I watched it on DVD
- 9:54and then I was born away also. OK, OK.
- 9:59I have one tag line. Only one tag line.
- 10:02Only. One what is it?
- 10:04Do you feel lucky? I like that, yeah.
- 10:07That's pretty good it actually. Really works.
- 10:08Yeah. So that's not too bad.
- 10:11There's a lot of gambling things that you could do, Vegas theme
- 10:13stuff here. Yeah, so it works.
- 10:16OK, I've got some fun facts. One is that Spiegel was the
- 10:21producer on Hostile part one and two.
- 10:24Oh, really? Yeah, so.
- 10:25He's associated with the interesting he was.
- 10:27Brought in to do this, and Eli Roth was actually going to be
- 10:30producer on this and his name kind of kept dropping in and out
- 10:33of discussion so. I wonder why he distanced
- 10:36himself. I don't know, I didn't get so I
- 10:40couldn't find a ton of like non like what am I trying to think?
- 10:47I'm not non biased but like most of my information came from
- 10:53interviews this time so it wasn't just like it wasn't like
- 10:57a third person view on it. I got you.
- 10:59Yeah, not objective. Yeah, yes, Thank you.
- 11:02So most of, well, everything else that I'm about to say for
- 11:06the rest of this came from an interview that Scott Spiegel did
- 11:08with hornnews.net. OK, cool.
- 11:10So, and I thought that he would be a good source for this.
- 11:13And it was honestly kind of disappointing, not to preface it
- 11:16too badly with the information I got.
- 11:20Yeah, let's do it. So Peter Nelson and Chris
- 11:22Briggs, who are producers and Sony, wanted it to be set in
- 11:26Vegas. Yeah.
- 11:27So it's kind of why it got set in Vegas.
- 11:30It's because of the fucking movie.
- 11:32I keep getting it. Hold on.
- 11:33OK. Yeah, Yeah.
- 11:34Hold on. We will talk about that.
- 11:36I'm not trying to steal your Thunder here.
- 11:39Would you you wanted to take away from our No, no, no.
- 11:43You got this. You got this.
- 11:44Go ahead. So Scott said that there's like,
- 11:47you know, there's a certain mythos with Vegas.
- 11:49You know, what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.
- 11:51And it works really well with the with this kind with the
- 11:53Hostel series. But you know, there is also the
- 11:58hangover was massively popular. And he ended this quite like his
- 12:06answer to this question by just saying in the end, it was
- 12:09somebody had a cool idea for it being in Vegas.
- 12:12So we ran with it. You know what?
- 12:14That's good enough for me. Yeah.
- 12:17Honestly, yeah, it is a cool setting for the place.
- 12:19I like that. If you're gonna take it to
- 12:21America, that is a very fitting place.
- 12:23Yeah, and everything doesn't have to be super fucking deep.
- 12:25I kind of like it when directors are like, I don't know, that
- 12:28would be cool. That was cool.
- 12:29Yeah, we did it cuz we wanted to.
- 12:31Same thing with driver. I just thought it'd.
- 12:32Be fun. I just thought it'd be fun.
- 12:34So the script originally was more of a police procedural and
- 12:37it kept getting edited. Scott Spiegel didn't come on as
- 12:40director until about a year into it being written and they were
- 12:44doing they were already several edits in and he pitched a lot of
- 12:47ideas and lines that ended up being used.
- 12:53I'm judging him for this. He came up with the line.
- 12:56When it comes to pussy, I have no friends.
- 12:59He came up with that, He came up.
- 13:00He's proud of that enough to mention.
- 13:03It one of the executives was like, Oh, well, that summarizes
- 13:06the character and the movie really well.
- 13:09What I don't think it does I. Don't think it does, yeah.
- 13:13The only guy is just that character.
- 13:15It's just him. Yeah.
- 13:17So it just. Yeah.
- 13:18And the the ending was going to be even more of kind of like a
- 13:22gladiatorial blowout. And Spiegel kept having to say,
- 13:26hey, we don't have money for this.
- 13:29Yeah, like, we can't do all of this.
- 13:32And I had to cut it down quite a bit.
- 13:34Just imagining it in an actual Roman Colosseum.
- 13:37Like they like send the tiger out or the lion out and they
- 13:39have to like battle the lion. Yeah.
- 13:42And so he was often describing the movie as hostile meets The
- 13:46Hangover. And when the interviewer was
- 13:49like, so were the similarities between, you know, the
- 13:54storylines, Were those intentional?
- 13:55He was like, I'm going to be really honest, I had haven't
- 13:57seen it for a long time. There's no tiger in this so.
- 14:01That's true. There could have been if you did
- 14:04the Colosseum. Exactly.
- 14:07That would have been more of a lion though.
- 14:08Yeah, but they could have been like, but tigers.
- 14:11But this is a tiger. Yeah.
- 14:13So a lot of the movie was actually shot in the Detroit
- 14:16Masonic Temple, which is where Scott Spiegel and Bruce Campbell
- 14:20graduated. So.
- 14:22Yeah, So very familiar with the setting.
- 14:24He said this era especially, it was very depressing to be around
- 14:27there. He said Detroit is not for the
- 14:29light hearted. But he said it was funny because
- 14:32at the time, Sean Penn, Sigourney Weaver and Alicia
- 14:35Silverstone were all shooting movies there as well, and they
- 14:39kept getting each other's sets mixed up.
- 14:41Really. Yeah.
- 14:41Wow, that was so strange. Yeah.
- 14:43Can you imagine just accidentally stumbling on the
- 14:45hostel set? Like what the fuck is going on
- 14:47here? Yeah, especially sweet little
- 14:49Alicia Silverstone. Yeah, oh man, they're like
- 14:54awkward smile. It turns into an awkward frown.
- 14:56It's like that face when she accidentally had something with
- 14:58her car. Yeah, like the little lip I.
- 15:02Yeah. So that's, I mean, honestly,
- 15:04that's really all I have for for.
- 15:08Fun facts. Fun facts, yeah.
- 15:10So that's, that's where we're at with it.
- 15:13I feel like this tends to be a lot of the direct to DVD curses.
- 15:16There's not a ton of information out there unless it's something
- 15:19that becomes a cult classic, which I'm still holding out hope
- 15:22for this one, but. Yeah, well, I mean, this was the
- 15:26end of the series for a while, but now they're going to do the
- 15:28TV show, so. And he said that they definitely
- 15:31have room to make a sequel somewhere down the line, you
- 15:35know, if it is a thing that people want.
- 15:37So it's not out of the realm of possibility.
- 15:39However, it has been 13 years. Yeah, well.
- 15:44I mean, that's the thing with the series.
- 15:45You can put it anywhere in the world.
- 15:46You can pick it up with any character you want to.
- 15:48It doesn't have to follow a set of people.
- 15:50And that's what he said. He was like, really honestly, if
- 15:53you get the right kind of story going on, it works wherever you
- 15:56want to put it. So you can really place this
- 15:59kind of story anywhere you want. Now that I'm talking about it
- 16:02like I'm thinking there could be one that's like a set back in
- 16:06time. Like they they had the fucking
- 16:08hound tattoos when they were like doing like, you know, Roman
- 16:11gladiator type shit. Oh my God, honey, you're gonna
- 16:13say gladiator. Yeah, I mean, we can give
- 16:16Russell Crowe. He can be a gladiator again, and
- 16:18he can be one of the hound dudes.
- 16:20My God, I would love to see Russell Crowe.
- 16:23And all I know he seems like he would be fitting right?
- 16:25I've never. Thought about this before, but
- 16:28now that you've put that into the world, I want nothing more.
- 16:31Dream sequel already he it's a sequel to that and what's
- 16:38unhinged? Unhinged.
- 16:39Where he gets so pissed off with somebody that cuts him off in
- 16:42traffic that he's like, I'm buying that person to torture.
- 16:45He somehow survived the end of unhinged and like a bunch of
- 16:50like, like Uber right wing people agree with him that like,
- 16:54yeah, when somebody cuts you off in traffic, you should murder
- 16:57them. And so he becomes like a kind of
- 17:00like, all right, celebrity in that way.
- 17:02And then he gets money from that.
- 17:04And that's how he joins the Elite Hunting.
- 17:06Yeah, yeah. Oh man.
- 17:08We already wrote it, folks. Yes.
- 17:10OK. All right, some time for yeah.
- 17:13Time for good, bad, ugly time. For good, bad, ugly, and I'm
- 17:15sorry Travis, please tell me the things you like about this movie
- 17:18because I know you don't straight up hate it.
- 17:20So I know you don't love it, but I know you don't hate it.
- 17:24For this episode so far, I've been playing it up that I hated
- 17:27this movie. However, on rewatch this past
- 17:31week, I had a pretty good time with this movie.
- 17:35I think I needed to give it another chance.
- 17:37So here's the good things I have to say.
- 17:40I think that they did a good job playing with the tropes from the
- 17:43past movies. So they have these characters
- 17:46that you automatically suspect are going to be evil or they're
- 17:50going to be shady or whatever just because they are like the
- 17:54past. New movies kind of make you
- 17:56xenophobia. Yeah, we were referring to this
- 17:58as the casual xenophobia in this movie.
- 18:00And it's true because like, we are introduced to these two
- 18:02Ukrainian people and like, well, they're obviously bad people and
- 18:06they have accent and like, that doesn't make me feel good.
- 18:09About myself, Anka, I totally would have had a threesome with
- 18:12Travis. They were trying to.
- 18:13Yeah, like they would have been down down to do it also, I feel.
- 18:17Like this is the first Travis we've talked about on the show.
- 18:20That's true because we we do run into that name in horror movies
- 18:24and comedies and like other movies a lot.
- 18:26And a lot of times Travis's aren't like the nice guys in the
- 18:30movie. This still holds up, but it is
- 18:32funny to like, look over and be like Travis.
- 18:35Yeah. And now we get to actually talk
- 18:36about that. It's a little bit strange.
- 18:39So I I like that they made him the bad guy in that situation
- 18:43because you don't expect it. And then they did the same thing
- 18:47with Nikki and Kendra in the movie too, because you think
- 18:50that they're the women that seduced the people and wore them
- 18:53into the trap, but turns out they are also a part of it.
- 18:56Yeah, they really subvert the tropes.
- 18:58Yeah, they did a really good job doing that and it really made it
- 19:01fresh compared to the other two, Yes, I think so.
- 19:04While still doing hostile things, they just toyed with the
- 19:08formula and not to just keep it pretty good.
- 19:11Yes. I like the garage torture room
- 19:15at the end. Yes.
- 19:16I like the idea of like having multiple types of that.
- 19:19So like, that's the poor man's hostel room right there.
- 19:21Like where's my fucking power tools at?
- 19:23This is not the elite hunting club.
- 19:25This is what would they call it, to pretend that it's elite but
- 19:28it's not. Instead of the hound tattoo, you
- 19:31get the acid cat tattoo from Inkmaster.
- 19:33It is acid cat. This is the acid cat club They
- 19:36just whatever you got, that's what you torture them with right
- 19:39there. I like that a lot because it
- 19:42made me think oh, like you don't even have to have this be like
- 19:45high dollar people. You could just have people that
- 19:48are just really into it and like are aware of that, like they've
- 19:51been made aware of that organization.
- 19:53Like let's start our own group here in 10 They.
- 19:55Would probably call it something like the Premier Hunting Club or
- 19:58something that. That's the.
- 19:59Illusion of fanciness without being fancy.
- 20:02But it was cool because I just thought, you know, like they
- 20:06could just, they could really take this and scale it down a
- 20:08lot and they could keep the essence of the movie.
- 20:11And I know it's just like a throwaway moment at the end of
- 20:13the movie, but I really appreciated that.
- 20:15Yeah. I thought also the people like
- 20:18did a really good job in this movie too.
- 20:20Like this movie, The camera works surprisingly good, the
- 20:24acting surprisingly good. I think there's only a little
- 20:29bit bad that holds it back. That kind of gives it that cheap
- 20:31feeling, and I'll talk about that.
- 20:32Not bad. OK, so that's my good stuff
- 20:34there. OK, my good is that I like that
- 20:37this it takes place in a context that isn't just like, OK, let me
- 20:50start over. I'm not saying what I want to
- 20:52say the right way. So in addition to subverting the
- 20:55tropes, I do like how we've moved it to this new setting.
- 20:58Right. And I like that we adjusted what
- 21:02the Elite Hunting Club does with it.
- 21:05Yeah, because it makes sense. We've put it in Vegas, so we're
- 21:08going to turn this into a show. So it's not just rich people
- 21:11paying to torture, it's rich people paying to see it, and
- 21:15they're paying to participate and bet on it.
- 21:19So it takes that idea that we had in the second one of like
- 21:22bidding on people, and then you get to do whatever you're gonna
- 21:25do with it. And then it also makes it a
- 21:27little bit more theatrical and a little bit more of a group
- 21:32activity in a way that makes sense for Vegas.
- 21:36Yeah, they really Vegas stood up with.
- 21:38It yeah. And if you're going to move the
- 21:41setting for this, it makes sense that you would do it that way.
- 21:43It's just like you can have any kind of an international chain,
- 21:46but it's always gonna be, you know, scaled to match the local
- 21:50area. Think about like McDonald's
- 21:51around the world. They don't have the same menu.
- 21:54Yeah, you're right. You know, that's a great point
- 21:57because I'm thinking we've only seen it from the same place in
- 22:00the past few movies. Like every other country that
- 22:04the organization's in probably handles it a little bit
- 22:06different based off of their own culture.
- 22:08Yes, which is really interesting to think about.
- 22:10And I think it's also really interesting to have it set in
- 22:14America and make it very overt that the Americans are, you
- 22:19know, like the bad guys in this. Because I think sometimes they
- 22:23like themes of, you know, Americans not adapting to other
- 22:27cultures and disrespecting local customs and things like that
- 22:30that are supposed to be there in the first two movies kind of get
- 22:35overshadowed by the titties and blood.
- 22:37Yeah. So I think like this one, like,
- 22:40is like, hey, yeah, no, we've been saying from the beginning
- 22:43that, like, the Americans aren't necessarily the innocent, but, I
- 22:45mean, not that they're, you know, torturing, even though
- 22:47there were American torturers and the 1st 2:00.
- 22:50But I do think that it's kind of interesting the way that they're
- 22:54like a little bit more overt with that.
- 22:56It's kind of funny that like, yeah, Americans suck as Taurus,
- 22:59but hey, here's a fun fact, they suck in America still too.
- 23:03Even when they come back there, there's still shitty people.
- 23:05Yeah. So Americans are just the
- 23:06problem, Yeah. Not all Americans, but those are
- 23:10the bad Americans there. Yeah, I just, I thought, I
- 23:12thought it was kind of interesting when you think about
- 23:14what some of the thematic elements are meant to be in the
- 23:18first two movies and how a lot of times it kind of gets
- 23:21overlooked. And because the torturer, you
- 23:24know, group is the these Slavic people that it kind of makes the
- 23:31messaging a little bit muddy there.
- 23:34And then, like you said, especially when we walk in and
- 23:38Victor and Anka are immediately set up to be like, oh, they're
- 23:41going to be the bad guys, but they're not like straight away.
- 23:45That's what happens. And then I also think it's
- 23:46really interesting, again, what you said with this, with the
- 23:52Kendra and Nikki, their characters.
- 23:54I think it's really interesting that when Nikki goes missing,
- 23:57Kendra's like, well, no, they don't worry about people like us
- 24:00here on the Strip. They don't worry about us for at
- 24:03least a week. Like it's a lost cause.
- 24:05And I think that's a really interesting kind of throwaway
- 24:08line about how even, you know, people that work there on the
- 24:12Vegas Strip, they're the heart of what makes that city roll
- 24:17because they're not the economic stronghold.
- 24:21You know, they're just basically the servants of that area.
- 24:24They're not the actual wealthy elite that are really driving
- 24:28the economy. They're just the worker bees.
- 24:30They don't. In the end, they don't matter.
- 24:32And I think that ties into the themes of this movie and the
- 24:35franchise really well also. That's true.
- 24:37It does. So yeah, they did a really good
- 24:39job with these characters. Yeah, And I, I didn't mean to
- 24:41get this deep into the reading of it, but it's also part of the
- 24:44reason why I like this movie. And, you know, I think part of
- 24:47it too, is because we have seen so many movies that take place
- 24:51in Vegas. And it's a context for me as an
- 24:53American who, you know, doesn't have a lot of experience outside
- 24:58of America itself. This puts the movie into a
- 25:01context telling a certain type of story that is very easy for
- 25:05me to grasp on. Yeah, from my own lens.
- 25:08So that's, I think that's part of it for me too.
- 25:12OK, I can see that. OK, so on to bad.
- 25:16So one of the bad things that I thought with this was one of the
- 25:22things that cheapens it. I think it's the soundtrack.
- 25:25It feels very much royalty free music, just the jammed in there.
- 25:30It feels like the music that they tried on Below Deck season
- 25:3411 where they like had their in house artists like write music
- 25:38and it's like what the fuck? Why are we like listening to
- 25:42this right here as we brew coffee?
- 25:44It's weird. Yeah, it just, I don't know,
- 25:47like it didn't really work for this type of movie.
- 25:51It didn't make any of the scary scenes scary.
- 25:54It didn't make any of the, like, the normal plot scenes seem
- 25:58interesting in any way. They just didn't really invoke
- 26:00any emotion in me. It was just like, oh, OK, this
- 26:02is what you're playing for me here.
- 26:04The only time it really worked for me was when we had this
- 26:06montage of them when they're arriving to Vegas and they're in
- 26:09the limo and then the music would cut and we'd cut to Victor
- 26:12in the holding cell, like arguing with the captors like,
- 26:15So those cuts back and forth worked for.
- 26:18Me. That's an editing thing.
- 26:19Yeah, that it's. Yeah, that's more less to do
- 26:22with the music and more to do with, like, showing the very
- 26:24stark contrast, yeah, between what's happening.
- 26:27That I do appreciate. Yeah.
- 26:29And the only other bad thing I could say about this one is it
- 26:32lacks any of the scariness in the torture scenes, any of the
- 26:37tension, I think. And I think the thing that
- 26:41doesn't work for me with this is it is a little bit more tidy in
- 26:46there this time around. It's queen.
- 26:48I liked the dank like abandoned area setting of the first two
- 26:54and makes it feel that much more uncomfortable when you're in
- 26:57there and you're isolated with this.
- 26:59Like fucking weirdo with leather shit on and all kinds of torture
- 27:03tools. However, I think for me it works
- 27:08because it is Vegas and it's meant to be a show and an
- 27:10experience. And I think when you think about
- 27:12it, like from Mike's perspective, when he realizes
- 27:15there's a whole audience there and nobody is helping him, yeah,
- 27:17I think like, moments like that really works for me because it's
- 27:21a whole different spin on how the Elite Hunting Club works.
- 27:25It's entertaining, I'll give them that, but I don't think it
- 27:29makes it any more terrifying. I think it actually takes away
- 27:34from the scariness of the whole ordeal for me.
- 27:37I do think that if maybe they had played it up a little bit
- 27:40more, made it a little bit more theatrical, a little bit cleaner
- 27:44even, I think that that would make it eerie for me.
- 27:48Maybe just like shoot it inside there a little bit differently
- 27:51too. There's just something the whole
- 27:54way that the whole thing was played out.
- 27:56And then you get that one woman who looks like she's like from
- 27:59the future when it comes in, she like has like goggles and shit
- 28:03on. She kind of looks like she's
- 28:04like she's trying out to be a predator.
- 28:07Yeah, no, that's exactly what I was thinking of.
- 28:10Yeah, it see when like that right there it was just like,
- 28:13oh, OK, yeah, you're going for a show.
- 28:15I get it, but I like it. We got one guy that dressed in
- 28:20the classic outfit. The classic outfit, you agree,
- 28:22is terrifying. Yes, absolutely.
- 28:24When you look at that, you see that that black cap, that apron,
- 28:28the orange shirt on. Yeah, there's just something
- 28:30about it that's unsettling. But when you see somebody walk
- 28:32in with a, you know, medical coat and a face mask, and then
- 28:36you get the person dressed as like a cybernetic Predator
- 28:40cosplay, it's just, it doesn't work as well for me.
- 28:43I think it also gives me a little bit of a hint of purge
- 28:47with it too. Yeah, yeah, you're right.
- 28:49I can see that. What is it?
- 28:50Is it the third one that I'm the second one where the church?
- 28:54It's not the church, no, it's rich people and they're like
- 28:56bidding on. Doing that's the 2nd.
- 28:58Yes, yes. The first Frank Grillo movie,
- 29:00Yeah, we haven't quite named Bloody Stranger yet, but now we
- 29:05just call him Stranger. We went on a whole journey
- 29:08watching through the some of the other Purge movies after we
- 29:11covered the. The first one, but not the first
- 29:14purge. The original purge.
- 29:16Yes, the original purge. Yeah, the original Purge movie.
- 29:19Yes. Not that it's God.
- 29:20It's so fucking why did they have to do this?
- 29:23They they took advice from Nintendo and they were like,
- 29:27they're like, hey, how do we name this movie you guys are
- 29:29great in? We actually lost a lot of money
- 29:32by naming our consoles. Yeah.
- 29:35So yeah, but I OK. Are you done?
- 29:37Yeah, yeah. OK.
- 29:39So I was kind of chiming in on some of the pieces that I agreed
- 29:43with, but there is one other one that I would say would up the
- 29:49moment of the gore for me, and that's Mike.
- 29:52You know, his whole thing is getting his face cut off.
- 29:54Yeah. And I thought they did a pretty
- 29:56good job with the effects on that because you see, like, the
- 29:59muscles and stuff in his face. I think it would have been nice
- 30:02if they had just added a little layer of extra fake skin on the
- 30:06parts they didn't cut off because it was distracting that,
- 30:09like, the muscle was laying flat with the flesh.
- 30:12And you should see a little bit of a line there.
- 30:14And that's just one of those things that I'm like, I get it.
- 30:17They probably didn't think it was going to stand out to
- 30:19anybody, but it stuck out to me because I was like, it shouldn't
- 30:22lie flat like that. Like you should see at least a
- 30:24little bit. Plus, I feel like when they cut
- 30:27the face off and he's holding the face and showing it off to
- 30:31all of the people watching. Too clean.
- 30:32Yeah, exactly. It's too clean.
- 30:34That guy has very he's not old, but he's got distinguished
- 30:38wrinkles and I think freckles too.
- 30:41He's the guy that are always, for those listening, get
- 30:44confused with the kid from Sandlot.
- 30:46Yes, Yeah. And then he does look like a he.
- 30:50Does yes, I do see where you come to confusion with that.
- 30:53Yeah, so I'm again picturing that kids face being held up.
- 30:58Yeah, that's not probably good, but that's what I expect.
- 31:02But yeah, it was very clean. Yeah, it felt very much like
- 31:05they they did like some silicone or latex or something on a, on a
- 31:09mold and painted it with some makeup and then they held it up
- 31:13and they could have bloodied it up some they could have added.
- 31:16A little extra. Yes, they could have done a
- 31:18little bit more with it. I think about like, what is it,
- 31:22The Devil's rejects? Where he puts Lou Reed's face.
- 31:26Puts Lou Reed's face on No. Lou Reed.
- 31:28Lou Reed's fucking who? What is his name?
- 31:32Louie I. Went right along.
- 31:35With you, Lou Temple. Lou Temple.
- 31:37Temple I was like, yeah, Lou Reed, it is a perfect.
- 31:41Game exactly Lou Reed's in the movie.
- 31:45Lou Temple, yeah, they put Lou Temple's face on his character,
- 31:48his wife. And yeah, she, yeah, that was a
- 31:52really well done face. That moment, I saw that moment
- 31:56when I was a kid and I snuck watch that part, it was on TV
- 32:00and it traumatized. Me.
- 32:01Oh, it was one of those scenes that you showed me when we first
- 32:03started dating. You're like, have you ever seen
- 32:05this? This fucking this is.
- 32:07Most of our early relationship was Travis being like have you
- 32:11seen this? And we're sitting in his dark
- 32:12dorm room and he pulls up a YouTube clip of some like fucked
- 32:16up shit and look at us. Hey. 12 1/2 years later.
- 32:20Just look at the Travis in this movie and just think twice about
- 32:23this relationship that you're in right here.
- 32:26I'm. I'm just playing the Wong Con
- 32:27baby. Yeah, OK, Ugly time.
- 32:31Yes. I just wrote one word and it's
- 32:35Mikey. Yeah, Mikey is such an asshole
- 32:39in this movie and he's like misogynistic and he's.
- 32:42He's the asshole that unironically says there's three
- 32:46rings in marriage. The engagement ring, wedding
- 32:50ring and southern ring. Oh yeah, yeah, he has that
- 32:56attitude the entire time. And he's on his wife.
- 32:59So disrespectful. Such a nasty person.
- 33:03He he probably didn't deserve what he got, but you don't feel
- 33:07so bad when he's the first victim.
- 33:09Oh, well, it's like, I feel like they grabbed, what's the guy's
- 33:15name that they would grab at the beginning?
- 33:17Victor? They grabbed Victor.
- 33:19Like, all right, Victor, we're going to get you.
- 33:21But then they keep grabbing worse people.
- 33:23Like, hold on, this guy sucks. Let me get him first.
- 33:25And then they just keep bringing these more annoying people.
- 33:28All right, hold on, Victor. I feel like this ties into the
- 33:32like xenophobia that is so central to the Hostel movies
- 33:37because if it's people that are betting on them, think about in
- 33:40like the European ones, the American sell for a higher
- 33:43amount. I wonder if it's the same here.
- 33:45And Anka, it was kind of implied that maybe she had too much of
- 33:49the sedative. And she died.
- 33:51Yeah. We never do see her again, do
- 33:53we? Yeah.
- 33:53It's like some throwaway line that he had about, you know, if
- 33:59there's damage, it's OK We'll be able to make it up or something.
- 34:01Like he. Right.
- 34:03Yeah. So there's a part of me that
- 34:06wonders if it's because he's the only Ukrainian and they keep
- 34:09swooping up with these Americans, if it's, you know, if
- 34:14there's an element of that involved.
- 34:16Could be, yeah. You ever know?
- 34:19OK, what's your ugly? My ugly is just Carter, you
- 34:24Dick. Carter, you Dick.
- 34:25Carter. Fucking sucks.
- 34:27Too. Yeah.
- 34:27He like, oh, surprise trip to Vegas.
- 34:30Like, I don't feel like that's what Scott really wanted to do.
- 34:34He seemed ready to golf in Palm Springs.
- 34:38Yeah. He wanted to not have strippers
- 34:40and all that shit going on on his bachelor party and Carter's
- 34:44like, fuck that. We're going to do the
- 34:46stereotypical bachelor. Yeah, and especially like when
- 34:49it's so such a fresh wound where he had cheated on Amy and she
- 34:55like. He's encouraging him to cheat.
- 34:57Yeah, I pay these people to have sex with you.
- 34:59Yeah, it just just the whole thing is very icky.
- 35:04And that's not what a bachelor or a Bachelorette party should
- 35:06be about. And if you have to see it as
- 35:08like, I don't know, we have a lot of fun together.
- 35:11I didn't feel like my Bachelorette party was the last
- 35:14time I had fun before. We got married.
- 35:16I hate the whole idea my. Last time fun was my maiden
- 35:19name. Yeah, but you know, we've had
- 35:23plenty of fun together outside of that, you know?
- 35:26Probably more fun. Yeah.
- 35:28I hate that mentality. Like, oh, man, you're last night
- 35:31of freedom. Like, really.
- 35:32Like I've been in a committed relationship, but long enough to
- 35:34be engaged. Like, I don't think that it's
- 35:37been free. Like I've been able to do
- 35:39whatever the fuck I want this entire time with other.
- 35:41People, it's like, really, all that changes with marriage is
- 35:44that it's more expensive to break up, Yeah.
- 35:46That's yeah, it makes you know the.
- 35:48Commitment piece didn't change that much.
- 35:50Yeah, it makes it a little is a little bit harsher of a
- 35:53commitment. Yeah, All right.
- 35:54Right. Now, like, our credit scores
- 35:56would take a hit and we'd have to deal with selling the house.
- 35:58But like, you know, I just as much would be pissed if you
- 36:02cheated on me now as if you had done it when we were seniors in
- 36:04college, you know? Exactly.
- 36:06Like, so that's just that's, that's an ugly thing.
- 36:10And Cartier represents the ugliness of that.
- 36:12Absolutely. OK, Absurd.
- 36:15Yes, absurd. I just wrote one down.
- 36:18Oh, can I add to the ugly like so Justin walks with a cane and
- 36:28his friends like act like that's the only thing about him and
- 36:32that's. His personality.
- 36:33Justin makes jokes about it too, but you can also see that it
- 36:37seems to really bum him the fuck out because we do see like a
- 36:40woman that starts to flirt with him until she sees the cane and
- 36:45then she was like Oh no, I gotta go.
- 36:47I loved. His responses I hate it stays
- 36:49hard all night. Yeah.
- 36:50And I think maybe he does the joking as a coping mechanism.
- 36:56And I'm sure there is an element of like, yeah, I'm just going to
- 37:00joke about this because this is my life.
- 37:01Because granted, I do that with a lot of things too.
- 37:04Yeah, don't like, I don't mind it talk.
- 37:08It's more just the way they use that with everything they talk
- 37:11about with him. That is kind of like ugly to me.
- 37:14I do like the way he handled himself.
- 37:17He he's like, you know what? I'm not going to just be mad
- 37:20about this. I'm just going to make the best
- 37:21of this. And I do again, gross from Mike
- 37:26when Justin said let's go see Cirque du Soleil, which I'm
- 37:29sitting there on the couch be like, yeah, let's go see Cirque
- 37:30du Soleil, watch an hour Cirque du Soleil instead of the rest of
- 37:35this movie also. And Mike go, so you're not just
- 37:38disabled, but you're gay. And Justin goes sometimes, like,
- 37:42he didn't skip a beat. He was willing to just, like,
- 37:45LED. Yeah, roll with it.
- 37:47But also, again, Mike is ugly and gross.
- 37:49And they like, oh, fellas, is it gay to like to watch women in
- 37:56leotards do splits and stuff? Like, yeah.
- 38:00Mikey. Mikey is my next an absurd as
- 38:04well. Oh, OK.
- 38:05Yeah, my, MY1 absurd is Mikey is 28.
- 38:11We see his license and they're like 28 years old.
- 38:14I'm like what the fuck? This guy is 28.
- 38:16Don't tell me that shit. That guy is not 28 years old.
- 38:20It's like last night when we were watching Deadly games on
- 38:23the last drive in and everybody lost their fucking mind when
- 38:26they found out George was 40. And they're like, really?
- 38:28Yeah, right. Don't tell me that shit.
- 38:32We're all just speaking down to our asses right here.
- 38:35There's no fucking way. So yeah, that I thought it was
- 38:39very absurd. Yeah.
- 38:40What's yours? My absurd.
- 38:46There's a lot of absurd in these movies.
- 38:51My absurd, I suppose it's gonna be Yeah, I'm really trying to
- 39:05pad the time and feel like if I just keep.
- 39:08Talking I'm. Trying
- 39:21I guess my absurd is the cab driver that seems like he's a
- 39:25problem, but actually he just ends up rescuing Scott when he
- 39:29passes out. I think he is part of the crew,
- 39:32right? I don't know, cuz he drove them
- 39:34there and I think it's part of the crew.
- 39:36I think he was like hired to get them there for like the surprise
- 39:39bachelor party. But then he's just like chilling
- 39:42out there. Like who are you?
- 39:43Alfred Pennyworth? Like, yeah.
- 39:45Up that is, you know what? I don't think we see him again.
- 39:48And he did bring that guy back home.
- 39:50He brought Justin, not Justin. Scott.com.
- 39:53Justin and Scott look too much alike and they do also got
- 39:56Carter. None of them looks like they
- 39:58deserve the name they have. It's very confusing.
- 40:01Yeah, that's very confusing. Mikey's fitting.
- 40:04Yeah, Mikey works. I'm OK with Mikey.
- 40:06I did not have a trouble getting him in my notes at all.
- 40:09That sentence is a grammatical nightmare.
- 40:11I'm sorry. It's OK, you know, you're right
- 40:14there. I think he actually was good.
- 40:16He again. Did they get us with the tropes?
- 40:19Because Scott's like you're meters isn't working and then
- 40:21the guy's like he doesn't even say anything.
- 40:24He's just like, OK. Yeah, but I mean, and that's the
- 40:28thing, even in real life and to this day, if I get in an Uber
- 40:33alone or if I get in it and it's just me and my gal pals, I
- 40:41always send you a screenshot of like who the driver is or I will
- 40:45get a picture of their license and send it to you.
- 40:47So I'm like, by the way, if I get murdered and you always
- 40:49check in with me, you're like, let me know when you are out of
- 40:52the stranger's car. Like, it is a very real fear
- 40:55because it is a thing that has happened.
- 40:58So that's legit. But you know, he was good cab
- 41:02driver guy. He was good cab driver.
- 41:04I think that might have been his credit.
- 41:05Even cab driver Guy. Cab.
- 41:08Driver Guy. He's the foil to chainsaw
- 41:12bastard man. Yeah, he's the protagonist in.
- 41:17That movie Oh my God. We just need like a a full moon
- 41:22films like 9 movie series for each of them and then it ends
- 41:27with them. Like.
- 41:28Fighting each other. Fuck yeah.
- 41:29Yeah. OK.
- 41:31So now it's time to rate it, babe.
- 41:33OK. You know, yeah, I, I liked it a
- 41:37lot more this time around than I remembered.
- 41:40I'm going to give it a 6 1/2. Yes.
- 41:44Where you at? This.
- 41:47Honestly I have I think 2. After watching all of these
- 41:53again, I think 2 just barely edges this out.
- 41:56Are you fucking kidding me? You put it up there in the same
- 41:58tier. It's two.
- 42:02I just had two just barely edges this.
- 42:03Out, but it's in like yeah, you're like barely.
- 42:05It's you're putting in like the same tier, yeah.
- 42:09OK, I do not like love Hostile Part One the same way everybody
- 42:13else does. OK, I see its merits, but I also
- 42:17see its flaws. I feel like Hostile part one
- 42:19succeeded the most in being a scary movie.
- 42:24We're not gonna rehash this argument right now.
- 42:27I'm. Throwing down the gauntlet
- 42:29today. But I, I, I love this movie a
- 42:32lot. I think it's a lot of fun for
- 42:35this type of movie and I think it's successful in the the
- 42:40thematics of what it needs to be.
- 42:41So I'm gonna give it an 8. Oh, OK.
- 42:44So 7.25 you, you guys. He said that as I was writing
- 42:52the number down. Don't think that he did the
- 42:54math. He's doing the thing again.
- 42:56Just you're acting like people can read your fucking
- 42:58handwriting. Patrons tell me that.
- 43:01Check out the show notes and tell me you can read that shit.
- 43:03Me, me handed. Me the grocery list today I'm
- 43:06like, what the fuck is this shit here?
- 43:07I'm just I'm guessing that so. To be fair, I also shorthanded a
- 43:11lot of that because I wasn't expecting you to have to read my
- 43:14list. I knew what my list meant.
- 43:16I didn't expect you to. Need to know what my list meant.
- 43:19OK. All right then 725, that's
- 43:22pretty good for this. OK.
- 43:23All right. So ready to talk about it.
- 43:25Let's do. It so we have a couple of quick
- 43:32shots. We see somebody getting a key
- 43:34fob. There's some indoor smoking cuz
- 43:37Vegas. We see a lady in some real hot
- 43:40boots that I want to own, and then we see who at this point I
- 43:45just call Mullet Flannel Bro, which should have been the clue
- 43:49right there that his name was Travis.
- 43:51OK, OK, I I saw him and whenever it was revealed that his name
- 43:55was Travis, I'm like, oh fuck. Like that is my that's my
- 44:00clothing style. My hair does that same shit
- 44:03where it flares out in the back like his does.
- 44:05I kind of have a mower right now.
- 44:07If you're given the option between beer and vodka, you
- 44:10generally pick beer. Beer.
- 44:11Beer. Yeah, and I'm a piece of shit.
- 44:15Not. Always.
- 44:20Thank you. Yeah.
- 44:21So this is a very eye opening here.
- 44:23So yeah, Travis is walking around.
- 44:25This is like a hostel. Obviously, he opens up the door
- 44:30and there's still the previous tenants that were there.
- 44:34They're getting ready to leave. But the guy's like, hey, don't
- 44:36worry about it. Come on in.
- 44:37We'll be out in a minute. Yeah, let's have a drink
- 44:39together. And, you know, he pulls out his
- 44:43vodka and you can also see he's got, like, this wicked kind of
- 44:46hunting knife in his suitcase. And Travis kind of like,
- 44:49eyeballs it. And he's like, he goes, well,
- 44:51I've got beer. Still cold?
- 44:54In the backpack. Where'd you come?
- 44:56From Yeah, I this is confusing. I, I don't know.
- 44:59I suppose he could have just hopped off the plane at LAX.
- 45:03Yeah. Went to a beer cave beer liquor
- 45:05store. I was doing a Miley Cyrus thing.
- 45:08Yeah. Yeah.
- 45:12You immediately went to Beer Cave, so that's fine.
- 45:15Yeah. I mean, I suppose he could have
- 45:17done it, because it's not like we've never travelled places.
- 45:19And then we're like, well, let's get something for the room.
- 45:21Before we get settled in. True, yeah.
- 45:24So yeah, he pulls it out. And I also want to know how this
- 45:28works because they had to like, do a full bottle opener.
- 45:31Like how did he drug these beers?
- 45:34You know, that is a great question.
- 45:36Maybe they, well, he probably got them from the organization.
- 45:40They probably have a machine that puts the caps on that shit.
- 45:44They probably. Like a really strong man.
- 45:47Or her really strong. They got plenty of them plenty
- 45:50of those people there. So the girlfriends like, all
- 45:53right, I'm going to go take a shower and she's just like.
- 45:55Speaking of last night I had a beer that was called Oh.
- 45:59Yeah. And I ordered it like that and
- 46:01the bartender loved my commitment.
- 46:03It was. Great, I didn't tell you, but
- 46:05the couple that was to my left when you did that, like the
- 46:08woman just like shot over. Like what the fuck is that?
- 46:13It's funny. So yeah, the girlfriend there
- 46:16gets undressed and goes and hops in the shower.
- 46:19Yeah, and Travis is kind of eyeballing her and victors like
- 46:21it's okay, she thought, I get it.
- 46:23He goes. By the way, we went to this
- 46:25really cool club last night. Lots of hotties there.
- 46:27Let's all go get drunk. So here, take my card.
- 46:30I don't need it. Yeah, this guy is being such an
- 46:33awesome guy. I want a party with Victor and
- 46:35Anka. Yeah, they seem like they'd be a
- 46:37lot of fun. They they really do.
- 46:38They would be some good people. Yeah, sure.
- 46:41And so. He's like trying to get the card
- 46:43for the club, and he's asking Anka where it is.
- 46:46And when he goes into the bathroom, he finds her passed
- 46:48out when he's asking Travis to come.
- 46:50And at first, it looks like maybe Travis is like, a little
- 46:52bit shocked. You know, some people fight
- 46:55flight or freeze. Yeah.
- 46:56And he, he freeze. Yeah.
- 46:59He freeze. He freezed.
- 47:00Yeah. And he's just, like, looking
- 47:02there. And Victor's, like, come on,
- 47:03man, Do something. Do something.
- 47:05And then Travis just kind of there's like a very subtle
- 47:09shift. And then all of a sudden, like,
- 47:11Victor is like passing out, too. And then the mirror opens and
- 47:15these men in black suits come in.
- 47:16And Travis, like, may have given the little one too much.
- 47:21It's OK, we'll get, we'll be able to make up for it.
- 47:23Yeah, so he walks out of the place and then we get this
- 47:27really cool title card. Oh, we do see his tattoo first.
- 47:30Oh yeah, you see the? Yeah, it's a very subtle thing
- 47:32cuz like when Victor's passing out, he rips Travis's sleeve and
- 47:35when Travis goes to like roll it up, you see the dude tattoo on
- 47:38on his arm. So you remember in Part 2 how
- 47:41the guy was just free handing the?
- 47:43Test yes. In this movie, The hound tattoos
- 47:46are the code like you scan it to get access to place.
- 47:51So are they still free handing them?
- 47:53Because if so, that guy's gonna be super precise for it to
- 47:55register on these little key scanner things.
- 47:58I feel like in Vegas it's probably more of a template.
- 48:04My God, what am I trying to think of?
- 48:06Stencil. Yes, stencil but like where?
- 48:09Flash. Tattoo like.
- 48:10A flash tattoo situation. Yeah, yeah.
- 48:11Yeah, I feel like it's probably a little bit more like that in
- 48:14Vegas. Dude, that would be one of the
- 48:15weird, like the cruelest flash tattoo to do as a tattoo parlor.
- 48:19Like, hey, I saw this dude with like a hound and I was like, I
- 48:21want to do that. And then he just tattoos all
- 48:23these people, like with hounds. Oh, man.
- 48:26OK, yeah. So yeah, the I like the title
- 48:29card because it has like the little neon signs.
- 48:31Yeah, that's. The actual way to do it, yeah,
- 48:34it's like hostile. And then the light turns out
- 48:35it's like part three apparently. Yeah, so we cut to a man and a
- 48:40woman. I did not remember their names.
- 48:42At this point, it's Scott and Amy.
- 48:43They step out. Scott's got his golf bags with
- 48:46them. He's waiting for his best man,
- 48:48Carter, to come pick him up for his bachelor party.
- 48:51So when the airport shuttle pulls up, he is ready to go.
- 48:55He We have, like, gratuitous exposition where they like
- 49:02Carter. Just because we dated for a week
- 49:04in freshman year doesn't mean I still wanna be with you.
- 49:07I'm with Scott now. You miss now.
- 49:09This guy super uncomfortable. Yeah, because the guy's like,
- 49:14what happened to us, by the way? She's like, well, we dated.
- 49:17We dated. In seven years.
- 49:18Yeah. And I got over you.
- 49:21Yeah, that's pretty much. It.
- 49:24Yeah, that's the way people do. Yeah, Scott, not you apparently,
- 49:27but. Scott surely feeling hell
- 49:29awkward in this situation. Which I also, and honestly, and
- 49:32I'll talk more about this later, I'm sure, but I don't think it's
- 49:35that Carter is in love with Amy. I think it's that he is a rich
- 49:38white man. So he's not used to losing.
- 49:41Yeah, you know what? You're right.
- 49:42Yeah, it's not so much that cuz his lifestyle does not suit
- 49:48settling down with this woman right here.
- 49:50He just wanted the thing that he couldn't get.
- 49:53Yeah, that's that's literally all it.
- 49:54Is money couldn't buy it either. He just like he had to get it
- 49:57however, and I guess he found a way for money to.
- 49:59Buy it. Yeah.
- 50:00I mean, in the long, long roundabout way.
- 50:02Money Almost bought it. Almost.
- 50:04Yeah. So yeah, they all load up in the
- 50:07car and Carter hands him a drink already and it's like 10:00 AM
- 50:11and he's also driving and. No, they're in a shuttle.
- 50:15Oh, they're in a shuttle. Oh, I thought he was.
- 50:16Driving. No, no, they're in a shuttle.
- 50:17OK, well, so never mind that's. Fine.
- 50:19Yeah, that's fine. It's your bachelor party, I'm
- 50:21all. For the fuck you, dude, get
- 50:22bottles. Yeah, but instead he's like, by
- 50:26the way, we're not going. We're.
- 50:28Not going to Palm Springs. Yeah.
- 50:31So they have some champagne in the limo once they get there,
- 50:35and we get a lot of stock Vegas footage.
- 50:38Yep. Like literally all that's
- 50:40missing is Las Vegas. Yeah, Yep.
- 50:45Isn't that wild how like basically every franchise goes
- 50:48to Vegas at some point? Like even the fucking Rugrats
- 50:51did it. You're right, It's almost like
- 50:52space. It's like, yeah, we don't have
- 50:54the budget for space, so let's do the.
- 50:56Vegas. Vegas.
- 50:57Yeah, yeah, whichever one would do.
- 50:58So Saul could go there. Oh.
- 51:00My God I would love to see Saul in Vegas.
- 51:04John Kramer at the slot machine. Give me.
- 51:07I want to hear his morale. No, I want to.
- 51:09Hear him at the black eject table like counting cards and
- 51:12then he they try to get him in trouble for accounting cards and
- 51:14then that person saw trap. How else am I supposed to fund
- 51:18my shit? Dude, I want to.
- 51:21Yeah, like, they're doing too well in the saw traps.
- 51:26So he's like, all right, well, now the Pit Master has to step
- 51:30in and make shit a little bit more difficult for you.
- 51:32Yeah. Shit man, we're just spouting
- 51:36ideas all over the place here. We're on fire.
- 51:38We are OK. So they arrived to, I guess like
- 51:43they meet up with the rest of the crew.
- 51:45It's Justin and Mikey. They hit up the casino.
- 51:50Yeah, we have a little gambling montage and then we get Mikey
- 51:54being cynical about marriage. Seems like a shame that you went
- 51:58ahead and got married and had two children.
- 52:01And you also hate being like, listen, we got married young.
- 52:05Yeah, it worked for us. It's what we wanted.
- 52:07Clearly it's still working for us.
- 52:09But 28 is pretty young to be married and have two kids.
- 52:13It's not the right call for everybody.
- 52:16And maybe if you're this fucking cynical about it, don't settle
- 52:18down. Don't do it just because you're
- 52:20being told, oh, well, I've been in a relationship this long.
- 52:22I need to go ahead and just propose and let's have kids and
- 52:24buy a house and move out to the suburbs.
- 52:27And the taxes are a little bit higher, but it's a great school
- 52:30system. Like God, yeah, you sound like
- 52:33Mikey over. Here, Yeah.
- 52:35Yeah. And also all of this is
- 52:36happening. We're also getting shots of them
- 52:39in the cages. It's Victor and I.
- 52:42Think it's Anka and they do come and get Anka, but the
- 52:46implication before was that she might not be.
- 52:50Boy, there, she's still kind of stays.
- 52:52In the cage, yeah. And.
- 52:54They take a route of the cage. Yeah, so.
- 52:57I think maybe they just forgot to shoot her death scene and
- 53:02they just kind of ice boxed it that way.
- 53:04They might not. Yeah, so they are in the casino
- 53:07still, and then Kendra and Nikki are eyeing them, so they go and
- 53:11approach them and they ask if they want to hang out and, you
- 53:15know, do some shit, do some gambling party.
- 53:17Do you like, do you like freaky? Do you like the movie with Vince
- 53:21Vegan? Vince Vegan, Yeah.
- 53:24So they invite them to a freaky club.
- 53:30So they are. Kendra and Nikki take them off
- 53:37the strip because that's where the freaky party is.
- 53:40Yeah, they put them into a cab, the meters off, and the guys
- 53:45experience a sense of fear that women have generally throughout
- 53:49their lives, day-to-day. It's.
- 53:52Just Scott, because Scott is the only one that notices that the
- 53:55meter isn't running, which is sketchy.
- 53:57Yeah, you don't know the thing about it.
- 53:59It makes sense because they probably prepaid and arranged
- 54:01this trip already. Yes, and I'm I am 100% certain
- 54:05that's what it is, which I kind of alluded to during Good, Bad,
- 54:09ugly and Absurd once again. It's just no piece.
- 54:11It's it's common together. Mom, I'm not trying this take
- 54:14shit from me. I'm just, I'm slow.
- 54:17I know it's just stupid. I keep that.
- 54:21I swear to God I'm not doing this.
- 54:22Intentionally, I know. So they arrived there.
- 54:24It's a really sketchy looking place.
- 54:26It's. Yeah, it's deserted.
- 54:27There's this like one door that they knock on and when the
- 54:30bouncer opens it up, they just use Kendra and Nicky's name and
- 54:33it works and they go in. The guy, I the guy gives creepy
- 54:36vibes again. He's like, oh, you're gonna have
- 54:39a good time. Yeah.
- 54:41What does that mean? That doesn't sound good, but you
- 54:42know what? It kind of is good I guess.
- 54:44Well, Scott gets strapped to a wheelchair and he gets his eyes
- 54:47covered and he's very upset about this, as you do.
- 54:53No, he gets like a fucking funnel shoved down his mouth and
- 54:56he's forced to chug a beer. Yeah, and surprise, it's a
- 55:00surprise bachelor party. I will say 1 great thing about
- 55:03this scene is there's a lot of boob diversity.
- 55:06Yeah, you see all kinds of different boobs and I think.
- 55:08That's really nice sizes. Shapes, sizes, different nipples
- 55:11and areolas. One of them has like a tattoo.
- 55:14Yeah. Which, ow hey, you know.
- 55:18Yeah, yeah. And they're like all partying,
- 55:21having a good time. Mikey is getting really nursery
- 55:25with Nikki. Yeah, which I mean, that's kind
- 55:28of their whole profession thing. That's true.
- 55:31Yeah. So that's happening.
- 55:33And Justin starts to flirt with this rude lady who, as soon as
- 55:36she sees the cane, she, like, makes a face and walk away.
- 55:39And Nikki is like, wow, that's shitty.
- 55:43She's like, I don't think your friend's gonna last long, so how
- 55:46about you just hang around here a little?
- 55:48Bit you later? Yeah.
- 55:49And then Scott is isolated with Kendra.
- 55:52Kendra's trying to initiate sex, but he's like, look, I can't do
- 55:57it right now. It's my bachelor party.
- 55:58I'm engaged. I already got in trouble for
- 56:01cheating on my wife last year and I promised her I would never
- 56:03do that again. Yeah, I almost lost that
- 56:05relationship. It was an eye opener.
- 56:07I don't want that to happen again.
- 56:08Yeah, also I feel very sick and I need to go outside for some
- 56:12fresh air. Yeah.
- 56:13Yep. So he goes outside, he vomits
- 56:16into a trash can, and then Alfred Pennyworth comes and
- 56:18scoops him up as he. Passes that nice taxi cab.
- 56:21Man, nice taxi cab. Man the the, you know, mortal
- 56:26enemy of Chainsaw. Bastard man.
- 56:28Yeah, yeah. So we get we see a car driving
- 56:33to like a locked compound, and then we see Scott waking up in
- 56:36the hotel room and we are hearing sounds and it's just the
- 56:40blender and he's just hungover and hurting.
- 56:43Yeah. Card is making a smoothie.
- 56:45Justin's in there reading the paper.
- 56:48Mikey's not there. Yeah.
- 56:51Scott asks how he got back, and we don't know.
- 56:53You were just here when we got back, Mike.
- 56:56They said that they think he was still with Kendra, so they're
- 57:00not too concerned. But he has his phone off because
- 57:04he doesn't like to communicate with his family when he's on a
- 57:06trip. What a Peach.
- 57:08Yeah, right, man, there's red flags about this dude all and.
- 57:11He even changed his voicemail. He's like I'm in Vegas, leave me
- 57:13the fuck alone or. Something like that and.
- 57:15It's like, dude, chill, Yeah. We cut over to Mikey, though.
- 57:19He wakes up in a cage next to Victor.
- 57:22I like how Victor's whole thing in this movie is basically like,
- 57:25Oh yeah, you're going to die. Yeah, he's kind of the
- 57:28harbinger. He really is.
- 57:29Yeah. Yeah.
- 57:30I don't know why they're not killing me, but it seems like
- 57:33everybody else that comes in here is dying.
- 57:34Yeah, it's funny because he keeps telling everybody when
- 57:36they come in here that they're going to die.
- 57:38And it's kind of like, well, Victor, Victor, you're still
- 57:41here. Yeah, so maybe not.
- 57:43Yeah, maybe not. Maybe I'll be another Victor.
- 57:46Yeah, what do I know? Is it because his name is
- 57:49Victor? He is the Victor.
- 57:52Maybe. Maybe they is.
- 57:54So fucking deep dude, Damn. It is deep.
- 57:56It is so deep. OK, so.
- 58:01They they take Mike, he's like trying to offer money and
- 58:07they're like, you've been paid for.
- 58:10Honestly, that's kind of a terrifying line.
- 58:12Like paid for for what? Yeah, right.
- 58:14Like, yeah, that's yeah, they. Drag him to the torture room.
- 58:17Yeah, we see a screen that says Wheel of Misfortune, which
- 58:23obvious but still fun. Yeah.
- 58:25And yeah, he's strapped to a chair and people are just like,
- 58:30watching. They're being served by women in
- 58:33hot shorts and suspenders and. No top but.
- 58:37Nothing else. The nipples are covered.
- 58:39Yeah, with the suspenders, yes. Yes, that.
- 58:42I don't think they're like pasties or something on
- 58:45probably. Does not feel.
- 58:46Good, that rubbing. Yeah, yeah.
- 58:51So Mikey's guy comes in, He is torturer.
- 58:54He's dressed all up like a doctor and he he starts to like
- 59:01toy with Mikey. Yeah, he pulls some stuff out of
- 59:04the bag, including a $7.00 serif from Head that they got at the
- 59:07craft section at Walmart. And I know because I have the
- 59:09exact same one. Yeah, yeah.
- 59:12He's like just setting stuff out.
- 59:13He pulls out a drill that, you know, the driller killer would,
- 59:18you know, respect is like the first attempt.
- 59:20Yeah, yeah. That's that's probably what he
- 59:22started out with too. Yeah, and he's like starting to
- 59:25mess with him. And then he's like, please
- 59:27don't. I've got a wife and two kids and
- 59:30I'm only 28. And that's the most shocking
- 59:32moment of the entire movie. So that's the big twist right
- 59:35there, folks. But I like it.
- 59:37As soon as he says that the voice over lady says that like
- 59:41the people who won the over under for when he would use his
- 59:44family as leverage like she announces those winners.
- 59:47That's funny. Yeah, so they gag him and then
- 59:51he's still fucking with him with the drill.
- 59:53But this while Mikey's freaking out, he accidentally spits on
- 59:56the guy's face. Which makes him very mad so he
- 59:59puts a little mask on him and then he picks up a scalpel and
- 1:00:04like. Outlines off his face.
- 1:00:07Yeah, he he. Does like little sharpie
- 1:00:08outlines on his face. And then he cuts it, yeah, and
- 1:00:10pulls the face off. And then he holds it up for the
- 1:00:13audience. So Scott is worried about Mike.
- 1:00:17And Justin's like, well, I've got Nikki's card.
- 1:00:22We can probably find where she lives.
- 1:00:24And Carter, for a moment, is surprised at this level of
- 1:00:29sleeves, which is surprising that Carter can be a surprise.
- 1:00:32I know. Yeah.
- 1:00:32And Justin's like, yeah, I've done some cyber stalking.
- 1:00:36He's like, I'm really fucking good at this shit, guys.
- 1:00:38I know exactly what. You think there's a dark back
- 1:00:41story to Justin there? Yeah, for real.
- 1:00:44So so yeah, they go to her home and they break in.
- 1:00:47It's. A trailer park, which Jesse
- 1:00:49mentioned is kind of a trope of Vegas movies like Showgirls.
- 1:00:52Yeah, and I've read it in books too.
- 1:00:55It's like. Work outside the.
- 1:00:56Strip like they? Yeah, people.
- 1:00:57Yeah, people that work around that are just like from trailer
- 1:01:00parks. Or something cuz again, it's the
- 1:01:02whole thing like they're not really, you know, making a huge
- 1:01:05living off of that. It's.
- 1:01:07Getting by, yeah. So yeah, they break into Nikki's
- 1:01:12trailer. I can't find anybody there but
- 1:01:15Kendra Bustin with another dude with a gun and they hold them.
- 1:01:19Dude, this guy looks like such a trope too.
- 1:01:22He does. He's right.
- 1:01:23On the black tank top and he's got like the Buster and the Gray
- 1:01:27beard and like, I'm like, you know what though?
- 1:01:29I would want him to help me stop some home invaders.
- 1:01:32Yeah, he'd be a good asset to have.
- 1:01:35Yeah, he looks like the stereotypical bad, hostile man.
- 1:01:38Yes, he was this. Movie's deep again.
- 1:01:44So deep my. God yes, so.
- 1:01:48We weren't here that Kendra wasn't part of it, and neither
- 1:01:51was Nikki. Yeah.
- 1:01:53So she's like, yeah, Nikki never came home either, so.
- 1:01:56I don't know, I also kind of like Kendra be like, oh what?
- 1:02:00His Dick was so magical that Nikki forgot what her entire
- 1:02:03fucking job is and just abandoned her home to spend the
- 1:02:07night with him. No thank you.
- 1:02:08I was like. Whoa, have you seen this movie
- 1:02:11called Pieces? Movies about this guy with a
- 1:02:14magical Dick. Yeah, so, so magical that he
- 1:02:16gets expelled. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:02:20So magical he becomes a cop. I wrote Carter you Dick here and
- 1:02:24I forget exactly what it was he said, but I was apparently very
- 1:02:27mad at him. He he starts trashing Kendra and
- 1:02:32the dude there, he's being in Dick to them.
- 1:02:34OK. I can't remember exactly what he
- 1:02:36said, but he's not nice. We see Travis and he is looking
- 1:02:40through costumes for Nikki and ends up with a cheerleader
- 1:02:43outfit. And I feel like they had him AD
- 1:02:47Lib here and he was like rah rah rah because that's the extent of
- 1:02:55his dialogue in this moment. And he was like, I don't know
- 1:02:57anything about cheerleading. Give.
- 1:03:00Me a rah. Like I would love it if he was
- 1:03:03like, you're still big red. Like throw out some, bring it
- 1:03:09on. Yeah, bring it on.
- 1:03:10Go to Taurus. Damn, it's cold in here.
- 1:03:16It starts actually. Just kidding.
- 1:03:19So let's should we? Should we do some crumping?
- 1:03:24Fucking Crump dude. They started crumping in this
- 1:03:26movie. I'd lose.
- 1:03:28They they make her Crump until she just like crumps to death.
- 1:03:34Torture right there. All right, now, Crump.
- 1:03:36Yeah. So yeah, they have her dressed
- 1:03:41as the cheerleader. She's in the torture room and a
- 1:03:43man arrives. And he just starts take, he
- 1:03:46takes out this little vial with a dropper in it and just starts
- 1:03:48like, and like you can see her like tensing up and we're all
- 1:03:53sitting here like what is about to have it is this acid like,
- 1:03:56and it goes sweet like you. And she's like, what?
- 1:04:00And then he pulls out Madagascar hissing cockroaches, because
- 1:04:05that is the only type of roaches that movies and television use
- 1:04:07for whatever. Reason.
- 1:04:08They're big, they're scary, and apparently they're deadly.
- 1:04:12Yeah, well, especially when you open your mouth and let them
- 1:04:15like climb inside like you're from The Mummy.
- 1:04:18Exactly. Yeah, they're very deadly in
- 1:04:20that scenario. So yeah, she's dead.
- 1:04:23Yeah, and that big time. How long does it take to die
- 1:04:27like that? Dude, I don't even want to know.
- 1:04:29Yeah, I'm glad we didn't get to see that one play all the way
- 1:04:32out. Hold on, I'm gonna Google this
- 1:04:34real quick. It's fine cuz I'm editing.
- 1:04:35OK, so apparently the short answer is that she would have
- 1:04:40just suffocated with a crawling down.
- 1:04:44Yeah, crawling down her windpipe and that's horrible.
- 1:04:47Smothering her bronchial tubes. That's a terrifying.
- 1:04:50Way. Yeah, that's a terrifying way to
- 1:04:52go, but at least it's not like the Roach is eating her.
- 1:04:54I don't know if that's better or worse, but it's like it's
- 1:04:57different. Think of like choking on water,
- 1:05:01but the. Water has legs.
- 1:05:03Yeah, it's just crawling all around.
- 1:05:05You don't want to do that. No, that's nasty.
- 1:05:07No, don't want any part of it. OK, so.
- 1:05:11Justin gets a text from Mikey's phone saying sorry been gone
- 1:05:15been crashed all day and then replies again.
- 1:05:18Is like with Nikki still sleeping?
- 1:05:20And they sent a picture of her, and it's like right after she
- 1:05:23had just died. Travis looks so pleased with
- 1:05:25himself taking that picture. He's like, yeah, he'll
- 1:05:28definitely buy this. She doesn't like that at all.
- 1:05:30Then he sends an address and so they go to that address and
- 1:05:34Justin and Justin stays in the car cuz he's like, dude, my leg
- 1:05:39really fucking hurts. Which I get that.
- 1:05:41I've been there. It it took a long time for my
- 1:05:43knee to get to a point. Like there were some days that I
- 1:05:45just like I can't do any more walking.
- 1:05:47Yeah, we're done. Yeah, so he says behind.
- 1:05:49Yeah. Carter and Sky break.
- 1:05:52OK. It's a it's a hostel and it's
- 1:05:54called hostel. They find Nikki's purse in the
- 1:05:57room that the room number that they were given and Nikki's
- 1:05:59phone is or Mike's phone is in the room.
- 1:06:01There's a note that says that they stepped out and they'll be
- 1:06:03back, but go ahead and have a beer while you wait.
- 1:06:06So Carter is grabbed in the secret mirror because this is
- 1:06:10the room from the beginning and he has grabbed and pulled in,
- 1:06:14and the others are grabbed like snuck up behind and taken as
- 1:06:18well. Travis comes outside and sees
- 1:06:20Justin in the car and he says that Mike asked for him and
- 1:06:23Justin's like, OK, let me call him real quick because Justin's
- 1:06:25smart. Yeah, he, yeah, he's the
- 1:06:27smartest guy in this whole group.
- 1:06:29Yeah. He's like, yeah, yeah, he sent
- 1:06:30me here to come pick you up and. OK.
- 1:06:32Yeah, and then Travis tries, he amazes him, and Justin hits him
- 1:06:36with his cane. It's actually like it's an
- 1:06:38effective. Yeah, and it knocks him down.
- 1:06:41That Justin spent money on that cane, Yeah.
- 1:06:43Like it's this solid. He wanted to make sure that I
- 1:06:45would last him because he needs it all the time.
- 1:06:47They get in a pretty good little fight.
- 1:06:48Right here. Yeah.
- 1:06:50And eventually we cut to all of them in cells, and Justin is
- 1:06:53taken. Victor says that they should
- 1:06:56just go ahead and say their goodbyes.
- 1:06:57And then Carter flashes his elite hunting club tattoo,
- 1:07:01which, by the way, it took until very far into the movie for me
- 1:07:05to remember what they were called.
- 1:07:06And I kept thinking of them as The Bloodhound Gang, which I
- 1:07:09knew was not correct, but I did not know what else to call them.
- 1:07:11The. Bloodhound Gang, Yeah.
- 1:07:12You know, it seems right. So yeah, they're.
- 1:07:17UCK, you know. They're very upset with Carter
- 1:07:21because he. Carter, you did.
- 1:07:24A fucking Dick here. He kind of staged.
- 1:07:27This, Yeah, he leaves Scott Scott's like, dude, what the
- 1:07:30fuck? Then he meets with Fleming.
- 1:07:34Fleming, it talks, he apologizes for the inconvenience of Carter
- 1:07:40getting locked up. He's like, but you also have to
- 1:07:42understand that normally we pick people that don't have lives
- 1:07:46outside of here and they're not going to be easily missed.
- 1:07:49So you've caused us quite a bit of inconvenience as well.
- 1:07:53So and he's like, but I am a top tier client.
- 1:07:57And besides, I brought you those women, which should recuperate
- 1:08:00to the cost. And then the men here are just
- 1:08:02collateral damage. Yeah.
- 1:08:04So it's all very cold and calculated.
- 1:08:06Yeah, so we cut to Justin. He's in the torture room.
- 1:08:12He is strapped to a chair as well and then this room fills
- 1:08:15with smoke and then Predator comes out and shoots him with a
- 1:08:18crossbow. Straight up, she may have been
- 1:08:21living out her Predator fantasy here.
- 1:08:24You know what, Yeah. If you're paying money to do
- 1:08:27stuff like this, I guess, you know, do the full fantasy.
- 1:08:30It's gross. She shoots him in the Dick too,
- 1:08:32like multiple times with the crossbow.
- 1:08:34Yeah, it's. It feels personal, it really.
- 1:08:36Does like he was the one of the good ones.
- 1:08:39It's cyber stalking aside cyber. Stalking aside, yeah.
- 1:08:43That's sad. That's our standard for those
- 1:08:45groups. The cyber stalker is the least
- 1:08:48problematic of them. Yeah, he could be one of those
- 1:08:51guys. Like I'm really good at Facebook
- 1:08:52searches. Yeah, maybe.
- 1:08:54That's the extent of. It yeah like he just knows how
- 1:08:56to use Google. Yeah Google like cyber stalker.
- 1:08:58Yeah. OK.
- 1:09:00So yeah, he is killed. Victor is worried about Unka.
- 1:09:06He still does not know what happened.
- 1:09:07To him, Victor and Scott have like a broom on it where they
- 1:09:09were like just weep over their lost loves.
- 1:09:13Yeah, yeah. And then he tells Scott.
- 1:09:16And Kendra's like, all right, you guys are going to die.
- 1:09:18This is my job now. He's like, it's a good thing
- 1:09:20you're not married because now your fiance won't be a widow.
- 1:09:23Damn, yeah, that's harsh. That's.
- 1:09:25Harsh. So Scott gets dragged away and
- 1:09:28he gets taken to his torture room.
- 1:09:31Except this Harder is his killer.
- 1:09:33Yeah. He's like this cheap black suit
- 1:09:37didn't have time to fly out. The one for your wedding.
- 1:09:39But I guess this will just have to work for your funeral.
- 1:09:42They have the knife block. It was the one that Amy
- 1:09:46registered for from Bloomies. And he's like, I'm so glad they
- 1:09:48were able to get this. It's fucking bloomy.
- 1:09:51It's like that's not. Outrageous.
- 1:09:54Like, yeah, it's. Funny.
- 1:09:55Oh man, we got a Bloomingdale's knife block here.
- 1:09:58How wild. It's not like super rare or
- 1:10:00anything like. That yeah, it's.
- 1:10:01Kind of funny, yeah. So he's going to try and kill
- 1:10:04him with that shit. Because it's symbolic.
- 1:10:05He wanted symbolic. He wanted the girl.
- 1:10:08He said that he's done plenty of these so far and it's just
- 1:10:12losing. It's fun for him and he needs to
- 1:10:15really up the ante. The kills need to matter and
- 1:10:17what better way than to kill his long time friend and go be the
- 1:10:21shoulder that his fiance cries on?
- 1:10:23Oh yeah, and Scott realizes that he told Amy about the whole
- 1:10:29cheating, so which I'm not. Don't get mad about that man you
- 1:10:32got. You got caught.
- 1:10:33You did the cheat. Yeah.
- 1:10:35Like that was the wrong time to throw that line in there because
- 1:10:39it makes that like a little less sympathetic, like.
- 1:10:42They're still shooting man. Like don't get mad at him for
- 1:10:44the thing that you did. Yeah, it kind of gives off an
- 1:10:47air of you're only sorry about cheating because you got caught.
- 1:10:49Yeah, like you betrayed. That person you're.
- 1:10:52Supposedly loves trust. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:10:55So he's kind of a Dick here. Yeah.
- 1:10:57But anyway, he's like, shouting at him, saying how could he have
- 1:11:00killed all of his friends, da, da, da.
- 1:11:02And eventually the audience votes to let him be unstrapped
- 1:11:06so they can fight. And I think that's fun.
- 1:11:09And, you know, Fleming was just fucking over Carter at this
- 1:11:12point. He's like, you know, we're going
- 1:11:13to really recuperate some costs here.
- 1:11:14Yeah, yeah. They're like, you know what?
- 1:11:16Because he was like showboating a little bit too.
- 1:11:18And he's already caused him a lot of trouble.
- 1:11:19He's like fuck it, let him free. So yeah, he just like gets his
- 1:11:23like walk unlocked and then he they start having a big fight
- 1:11:28and he ends up beating Carter. Yeah, and he cuts off his tattoo
- 1:11:33so he can use it to get through the doors and get out.
- 1:11:35Should've killed him. Yeah, and he runs into the room,
- 1:11:38he releases Victor, who takes a guard and takes a guard's Taser
- 1:11:42and then tases that guard to death.
- 1:11:44Dude, yeah, Victor is like getting his shit.
- 1:11:47He's like I kill now. The more I watch, the more we're
- 1:11:50talking about this, the more I think that Shyamalan watched
- 1:11:53this and was like, I wanna take some ideas from this and like a
- 1:11:56really absurd maybe, and we're gonna have fun.
- 1:11:59Yeah, that's what I think happened on this track.
- 1:12:02So they are running around he's. Trying alarms are going off.
- 1:12:07Scott has found the room where all of the people's belongings
- 1:12:10have been stored, and he's trying to find a cell phone to
- 1:12:13make a call to the cops. He sees his dead friends, he has
- 1:12:16a sad moment, he knocks out the power and then.
- 1:12:19Victor does. Victor takes like.
- 1:12:20A fuck backs. And just it's like nails, one of
- 1:12:24the. OK.
- 1:12:25Pipes and it just shuts power off, yeah.
- 1:12:27Fleming tells Travis to kill the witnesses.
- 1:12:32And Travis is like, so just like the people in the cells.
- 1:12:36And he goes all of them. Yeah.
- 1:12:38So even the wealthy people and Fleming, as far as a bad guy
- 1:12:42goes, he's a good one because he understands that like the more
- 1:12:46people there are, the harder it is to contain something like
- 1:12:48this. I bet it was his idea to put out
- 1:12:51the vote to let Carter and Scott vote because then he can deal
- 1:12:55with this problem client of his that is eventually going to
- 1:12:58cause problems for the elite hunting club.
- 1:13:00Oh, you know what? I bet you're right.
- 1:13:01Yeah, damn deep. Deep so Scott get kind and cold
- 1:13:13no. Scott takes guard.
- 1:13:16So Scott, oh, Scott takes the guard shotgun.
- 1:13:22He he battles like he like killed one of the guards that
- 1:13:27came in and then he ends up taking his shotgun and then he
- 1:13:32rescues Kendra with it from the cage.
- 1:13:35Kendra Scott gets Kendra out. Yeah, OK.
- 1:13:38So they are running away. And then Travis shoots, Travis
- 1:13:42shoots their run there. Yeah, and that was sad.
- 1:13:44Kendra did not deserve to die like that.
- 1:13:47So Carter stabs. Oh.
- 1:13:52Yeah. The fucking guy, the guy he's,
- 1:13:55he's waiting in the. Yeah, he's waiting in Fleming's
- 1:13:57car and he kills Fleming, steals his car, uses him for the, the,
- 1:14:03the, the barrier spikes. No, he uses him for the barrier
- 1:14:07spike so he can drive his car out because they've got Yeah.
- 1:14:10Falling apart here. At the you are falling apart.
- 1:14:12So he gets out there and he gets past the gate and he locks it.
- 1:14:16And just as he's locking it, Scott runs up and he's like bye,
- 1:14:22bye. And then there's an explosion
- 1:14:24and Scott is thrown up against the gay violently.
- 1:14:27We cut to an urn on a shelf. Amy's really sad.
- 1:14:31She's leaning up against Carter, who's just ready to swoop in.
- 1:14:35It feels like maybe this is the next day almost, which like
- 1:14:39feels very abrupt. Like it's like it's so.
- 1:14:42Sad. It really did feel like it was
- 1:14:44like the next hour was like, Yep.
- 1:14:45So he's sad, yeah. And she's like, Carter, I don't
- 1:14:50want to be alone tonight. And he's like, and she was like,
- 1:14:55let me go get some champagne. And then she pulls a Friday 13th
- 1:15:00part four, and he's like, hey, Carter, there's just one
- 1:15:05problem. He's alive and stabs his hand to
- 1:15:08the table. Yeah.
- 1:15:10And then Scott comes out and he's got his own little torture
- 1:15:15room. Yep, he's got the garage.
- 1:15:17It's full of power tools. He says we're gonna finish up
- 1:15:21that bachelor part of you plan, buddy.
- 1:15:23And then he pulls out a roto tiller.
- 1:15:26Dude, yeah, that was a gnarly, gnarly choice.
- 1:15:29I respect it. Yeah, see, that's the thing.
- 1:15:31You have so many fun tools to play with if you choose that as
- 1:15:34your torture room. Yeah, it was.
- 1:15:36Cool, you have to be like an efficient homeowner.
- 1:15:39You do. Yeah.
- 1:15:40Yeah. But it was cool.
- 1:15:42I like the way that they ended this movie.
- 1:15:44Yeah. And yeah.
- 1:15:45It was a nice little little twist there because usually it's
- 1:15:48like the member of the elite hunting club like pops up and is
- 1:15:51like, haha, I got you, but but it's.
- 1:15:54Yeah, no, no, listen. Which realistically, they
- 1:15:58probably know that Scott's still alive, so Scott's probably going
- 1:16:01to die sometime down the line. But all of the people that were
- 1:16:04in that building probably died in the explosion.
- 1:16:06The only reason Scott's still alive is because he was like,
- 1:16:08outside. Everybody's dead.
- 1:16:09Yeah, 'cause he even Fleming. 'S yeah.
- 1:16:12Fleming. Yeah.
- 1:16:12His body was used for the barrier spikes.
- 1:16:14Travis presumably died in the explosion.
- 1:16:17Yep. Travis got his arm chopped off.
- 1:16:19We didn't even talk about that. But yeah, he he, he got fucked
- 1:16:23poor. Victoria, Victor, RIP.
- 1:16:25Did Victor? Survive.
- 1:16:26No, he wouldn't have survived. I think we see him getting
- 1:16:29killed at one point. There's a lot of action that was
- 1:16:31happening there. Was hard to keep up with my
- 1:16:33notes. I think Victor makes it.
- 1:16:35I don't think Victor died. I.
- 1:16:36Don't think Victor got out. Victor comes back and gets
- 1:16:42Scott. Victor Victorious.
- 1:16:45Victor was the nice guy, cab guy all along.
- 1:16:48OK, OK, we're done here. I think it's, I think it's fun.
- 1:16:54I think it's just as fun as the other ones.
- 1:16:57And I don't know, it feels less full of itself, like it just
- 1:17:01knows it's a silly movie and it just does its thing.
- 1:17:05Because I think I'm keeping mine 6 1/2 OK, but I do like this one
- 1:17:10a lot more than I did going into it because I, I don't know, I I
- 1:17:16looked at it through another lens this time around and it was
- 1:17:19just. That's what we do here, you
- 1:17:22know. Yeah, which is kind of cool.
- 1:17:24Like movies that you hate at one point and then you just like,
- 1:17:27revisit it later and you're like, huh, you know what?
- 1:17:29Really? Not that.
- 1:17:29Terrible. Yeah, actually.
- 1:17:31Yeah, yeah. It's, it's OK.
- 1:17:32Yeah, it's pretty good. OK, so Talia was very squeaky,
- 1:17:37squeaky, squeaky, squeaky. We actually had to take her
- 1:17:39Ralphie away from her because that is her loudest toy that she
- 1:17:43owns aside from Giggleball. Yeah, and it just, she was going
- 1:17:48at it and you tricked her, and then she spent the rest of the
- 1:17:50movie whining because she didn't know where it was.
- 1:17:53She likes to play with it while we watch movies.
- 1:17:57Specifically for the podcast. Yes.
- 1:17:59Yeah. I don't know how she makes it.
- 1:18:01Maybe when she sees her binder she's like let me get mine too.
- 1:18:03Yeah, she's like here on my notes, Yeah.
- 1:18:07I don't know what it is, but yeah, she was.
- 1:18:09She was very loud, but it was whatever.
- 1:18:11She was a happy puppy. She also had to go out at 11
- 1:18:13minutes and 34 seconds in one hour and 15 minutes.
- 1:18:16So I think Talia is going to give this A7.
- 1:18:19I think she would have given it more points if my kid said that
- 1:18:23he had a wife, two kids and a dog that he needed to go home
- 1:18:26to. I think that I think she lost
- 1:18:28sympathy for him at that point. Yeah, it could have been like,
- 1:18:32marriage sucks, I hate my wife, I hate my kids, love my dog.
- 1:18:35Yeah, I feel like tell you been like, that's the correct answer.
- 1:18:38Yeah, that's right. Yeah.
- 1:18:40So who's Zoes? Ultimate Warrior.
- 1:18:42There's a lot of people here. I I think she likes Victor.
- 1:18:48You know what? Yeah, cuz Victor.
- 1:18:49He just shouts at the guards until he eventually gets free
- 1:18:52and causes mayhem. Yeah, yeah, it's absolutely
- 1:18:55Victor. Yeah, and once he's free, he is
- 1:18:58fucking vicious. Yes, absolutely.
- 1:19:01He just master of disaster. Yeah, it's totally correct.
- 1:19:05OK. OK, cool.
- 1:19:07Who did you relate to? Travis, like I don't like it,
- 1:19:12but I mean, the guy was kind of like the on the outside, like
- 1:19:18me. I hope I'm now I come on the
- 1:19:20inside. I don't think I am, but maybe I
- 1:19:23am. Don't look at me like that.
- 1:19:28Did I relate to probably NICU when she saw that one bitch at
- 1:19:32the barn was like God what's her fucking problem cuz I feel like
- 1:19:35I would have that same reaction. Yeah, like what the fuck is
- 1:19:38wrong with her? Yeah, she's fucking sex.
- 1:19:40Yeah, OK, cool. OK, and we already did our dream
- 1:19:43sequel cuz that was just it. It hit us.
- 1:19:47Inspiration struck. Yeah, I mean, I think that we,
- 1:19:49you know, like unhinged and hostile can make a good little
- 1:19:53crossover. And hostile.
- 1:19:55And hostile. I like it.
- 1:19:59I like it a lot. OK, now we have to come up with
- 1:20:03a new tagline. OK, well, there's some, there's
- 1:20:08plenty of Vegas things that you could.
- 1:20:09Do yeah. Let's see, put it all in red.
- 1:20:20Put it all on dead. Put it all on dead.
- 1:20:24Yes, I like that. I'm gonna do like a little
- 1:20:27crossed out red and put it on dead.
- 1:20:30Yeah, OK. That's awesome.
- 1:20:32Cool. OK, time for reviews.
- 1:20:35That's me at. First, yeah, Internet review.
- 1:20:37You're right. Go ahead.
- 1:20:39I'm now gonna try and take that one from you, OK?
- 1:20:41So I actually had pulled two reviews because I did not know
- 1:20:45where you were standing with this.
- 1:20:46OK. So I'll read the one out of 10.
- 1:20:50OK well I've arrived at the final Hostile movie until the TV
- 1:20:54show and it's Hostile part three 2011.
- 1:20:57Also this is a direct to video sequel and it has no involvement
- 1:21:00from Eli Roth. One more thing, this is the
- 1:21:02worst installment of the Hostile franchise, which isn't
- 1:21:04surprising because the other two were garbage.
- 1:21:06But what is shocking is that this movie was directed by Scott
- 1:21:08Spiegel, one of the Co writers of Evil Dead 21987.
- 1:21:11Like what happened there? Positives for her Hostile part
- 1:21:15three. The main guy is played by
- 1:21:16Jennifer Love Hewitt's husband, and the villain is played by the
- 1:21:19guy who is Frank Dean in Marvel's Runaways.
- 1:21:21By the way. These are positives for the
- 1:21:23movie. I just wanted to get that off my
- 1:21:25chest. Why?
- 1:21:26Why? Why?
- 1:21:27Why is that about the the husband you married, Jennifer
- 1:21:29Ella Fewitt? Good for you bud.
- 1:21:31Yeah, yeah, I guess negatives for Hostile part three this and
- 1:21:35the guy put the year of every single thing he references in
- 1:21:38here. I once I realized that as I was
- 1:21:40reading this, I'm stopping doing that.
- 1:21:43This movie has the typical problems that come with any
- 1:21:46directive video movie. It has really terrible acting,
- 1:21:48cheap looking sets, horrible directing, an awful dialogue.
- 1:21:52The movie also commits this end of not giving the fans of the
- 1:21:54previous two hostile movies what they want.
- 1:21:56There's very little blood and gore and the violence is very
- 1:21:59tamed in this movie. Overall, Hostile part three is
- 1:22:01the worst installment of franchise, and there's no reason
- 1:22:04why the hostile franchise and there's no reason why the
- 1:22:07hostile franchise died after this movie.
- 1:22:10No, probably. No wonder.
- 1:22:11Yeah, or a reason why. Yeah, but thankfully there's an
- 1:22:17upcoming TV series being developed by Eli Roth and
- 1:22:19starred starred Paul Giamatti. Oh, starring Paul Giamatti.
- 1:22:25Yeah, so if you're a fan of Hostile, then there's something
- 1:22:28for you to look forward to in the future.
- 1:22:31I feel like this person watched this whole series and they hated
- 1:22:34it, but they're like, well, Paul Giamatti is going to be.
- 1:22:36Yeah, like he's just really, he's just a really big Paul
- 1:22:39Giamatti fan. He's like, I got to see what
- 1:22:41this all about. It's so funny.
- 1:22:42He's going to be like, oh man, I got to get all the war on
- 1:22:44hostile. Like, I mean, you can jump in on
- 1:22:47any one of them, man, you're. In a Wikipedia article, and then
- 1:22:49you're caught up. It's fine.
- 1:22:51You didn't. You're not premise, you're good.
- 1:22:53Yeah. So I mean, I guess there is
- 1:22:57definitely a direct to video feel to it.
- 1:23:00There is, yeah. But I still think that, you
- 1:23:02know, we do have a little bit of gore, definitely not as much as
- 1:23:05in the other movies. But also I feel like in the
- 1:23:07other movies you see the aftermath of the gore, then you
- 1:23:11see like the actual stuff happening.
- 1:23:13I feel like the gore in this movie, it didn't have any of
- 1:23:17those upsetting moments. Like in the first one you have
- 1:23:20the guy having his tin sliced, you have the Japanese girl with
- 1:23:25the blowtorch to the face. The second one you have fuck,
- 1:23:30what's her? Name Heather Matarazzi.
- 1:23:31Yeah, being hung up, yeah, which is gnarly.
- 1:23:34There's a couple of other ones than that one, too, where he,
- 1:23:37like, saw as the girl's face accidentally.
- 1:23:40Yeah, like, there's nothing like that in this movie.
- 1:23:43Like, it's very much straightforward when they do
- 1:23:45those scenes. And I don't know, I do feel like
- 1:23:48I agree that those scenes fall short in this.
- 1:23:51I hate to say this again in this episode, but I feel like that's
- 1:23:55a little bit of the Americanization of it.
- 1:23:58I mean, think about we're going to be talking about this movie
- 1:24:01later this month, but think about the European ending for
- 1:24:03The Descent versus what they put out for American audiences.
- 1:24:07I guess, yeah. But I just like, I like, I like
- 1:24:10the griminess of it before. And I liked how nasty the scenes
- 1:24:16were before because those are visceral moments that everybody
- 1:24:20cringes at whenever it happens in the previous ones.
- 1:24:23I don't think you get you get Justin getting a crossbow to the
- 1:24:26Dick. And that's probably the most
- 1:24:28outrageous thing that happens in this.
- 1:24:30I think for me it's a little bit because I see your point, like
- 1:24:35the things that people like in the first two are definitely not
- 1:24:38present in this one. But I think for me, the things
- 1:24:40that you know about the 1st 2 where it just feels very like
- 1:24:48we're going to focus on like seedier parts of Europe, you
- 1:24:52know what I mean? Like we're taking this big
- 1:24:55tourist destination in the United States and we're looking
- 1:24:57at all the glitz and glam of it. And we're going to show you the
- 1:24:59seedy underside to it. But we're not going to make it
- 1:25:01look too seedy because this is the whole fucking point of it.
- 1:25:04It's a tourist attraction. Yeah, I guess, yeah.
- 1:25:08Yeah, I think it it's the same but different.
- 1:25:10You know what I mean? It makes sense, but I am with
- 1:25:14most people and prefer the stylistic choice of the other
- 1:25:17two movies. I understand making that
- 1:25:20decision for this one, but it doesn't work as well in my
- 1:25:24opinion and some people's opinion apparently.
- 1:25:29It's kind of. I need more Paul Giamatti.
- 1:25:32My my stylist sent me this account.
- 1:25:34She was like, this girl has a very similar taste to you, just
- 1:25:37a different flavor. And I thought that was an
- 1:25:39interesting way of putting it. And I feel like this movie has
- 1:25:42the same taste as the Hostel movies, just a different flavor.
- 1:25:44Yes, yeah, you're right. Yeah, This is like a different
- 1:25:47flavor. It's like when they put like
- 1:25:48they make it diet lemon. That's what this is right here.
- 1:25:53It's it's the Lacroix of the Hostel movies.
- 1:25:58You tag one. OK, well, let's go to our
- 1:26:06listener. Reviews Our listener reviews.
- 1:26:08All right, so we have two, one on each platform.
- 1:26:12We'll go with Instagram first. It's Cube saves.
- 1:26:15Who says? This movie makes me think Scott
- 1:26:17Spiegel is a bad director and Sam Raimi made The Intruder.
- 1:26:22Whoa, I've not seen. I've not seen Intruder.
- 1:26:25I really want to watch that movie though.
- 1:26:26I know that it has the Raimis involved in it so that's cool.
- 1:26:31I know a lot of people like it too, and hearing his attachment
- 1:26:34to Evil Dead 2 is really surprising also.
- 1:26:37So yeah, maybe like, I don't know, like.
- 1:26:40He was a writer for that one. It wasn't then he was a
- 1:26:43director. Yeah, right.
- 1:26:44Yeah, Like maybe, you know, he might be on to something here
- 1:26:48that like the magic that's been Sam or Amy all along and Scott
- 1:26:51Spiel just kind of been tagging. OK, I see what you're saying
- 1:26:54now. Yeah, I don't know.
- 1:26:57I don't think the directing was that bad.
- 1:26:59No, directing wasn't that bad, I think.
- 1:27:00Yeah, like, I, I don't know. I just, we've already talked
- 1:27:05about it, like, what worked and what didn't work.
- 1:27:07All right. And the final one on Twitter is
- 1:27:10award zombie. OK, he says.
- 1:27:12I barely remember this one. The first two were not great but
- 1:27:15better movies. The change to the location and
- 1:27:17how the secret club works just did not feel as scary as it was
- 1:27:21in the first two. See, that was exactly what I was
- 1:27:23saying right there. Yeah.
- 1:27:26And yeah, like I, I completely agree and Jesse doesn't.
- 1:27:29But you know, like that's, you know, that's our show, you know,
- 1:27:32like it's for some people, it's not for some people.
- 1:27:36Different flavors for different people.
- 1:27:39Yeah, yeah, yeah. And that works.
- 1:27:41That works. Yeah, but I did come around on
- 1:27:44it. Yay.
- 1:27:45I'm very glad that you at least came around on it so it doesn't
- 1:27:48have to be a running joke in the house about hey, let's watch
- 1:27:50Hostile part three. So.
- 1:27:52That's true. OK, cool.
- 1:27:54So that wraps it up for this one.
- 1:27:56So. Oh, I forgot to announce this at
- 1:27:59the beginning because we're doing it early in the month, but
- 1:28:01to be or not to be is going to be this weekend.
- 1:28:03That's right, it's on Sunday. We had to plan strategically for
- 1:28:08the for the month of August, so that'll be on Sunday.
- 1:28:11It's Travis's pick. This is a very Travis heavy
- 1:28:13month, but it's OK, we're going to.
- 1:28:15Have fun. Yeah, and next month is what you
- 1:28:18guys are patrons voted for. Next week.
- 1:28:20OK, next next week is why you guys voted for.
- 1:28:23Chris's theme was ex wrestler horror movies.
- 1:28:27Yeah, it's yeah. Like the Battle of the wrestlers
- 1:28:30in horror. We had it go between They Live
- 1:28:34and see No Evil. So you got Roddy Piper and Kane
- 1:28:38and Roddy Piper won. So we are getting They Live.
- 1:28:42Let me pull up. You can currently watch that on
- 1:28:46YouTube TV premium or you can rent it from prime YouTube,
- 1:28:49Google Player, Fandango at home. So.
- 1:28:52Yeah, unfortunately it's only streaming on Stars on Apple TV
- 1:28:57apparently. Or YouTube TV Premium.
- 1:28:59Yeah, probably the same thing through stars, Yeah.
- 1:29:02So there you go. There we go.
- 1:29:04Yeah. It's a great movie.
- 1:29:05It's yeah, it's definitely I I hadn't watched it until last
- 1:29:11year, the year before. Is that your first?
- 1:29:13Time, yeah. Really.
- 1:29:14Yeah. Wow.
- 1:29:14And I thoroughly enjoyed it. I love Roddy.
- 1:29:18Roddy Piper. Roddy Piper.
- 1:29:20So I love him. The guy's so fucking likable.
- 1:29:24Yeah, he's my God. I can't wait to talk about that
- 1:29:26maniac. Yeah, he's the maniac man.
- 1:29:30Fuck yeah. I can't wait.
- 1:29:32So get prepared, watch that one, and we're going to have a good
- 1:29:35time. And then check out our 2B or
- 1:29:37Nuts B that comes up this weekend.
- 1:29:38I don't know what that's going to be yet.
- 1:29:39Yep, we'll see. What Travis?
- 1:29:41Picks for Yeah, we'll see. All right, all.
- 1:29:43Right until then, we want to thank our bubbies.
- 1:29:47Over in the Patreon we've got Joe Freakatron, as is his name,
- 1:29:51Amber, Michael, Lord Zombie at Tyler and Chad.
- 1:29:54Thank you guys so much. You guys are awesome for
- 1:29:57supporting the show the way that you do.
- 1:29:59Means a whole lot to us. If you're unable to support like
- 1:30:03those cool people, you can rate US or review us or both on
- 1:30:08whatever. That's very cool.
- 1:30:09That's very cool, actually. Yeah.
- 1:30:10You do that on whatever platform you're listening on because it
- 1:30:13helps us a whole lot. It does good stuff for our show
- 1:30:17if you. All about the algorithms, baby.
- 1:30:20And also sharing the episodes is very nice, you know, like
- 1:30:24letting people, people know if there's a movie out there that
- 1:30:27we're talking about that, you know, somebody likes.
- 1:30:28And I love hearing people say that they're revisiting
- 1:30:32something or watching it for the first time for yeah, that makes
- 1:30:35me really excited A, that you're so excited to listen to us talk
- 1:30:39about it, that you want to watch the movie.
- 1:30:40But V because genuinely, at least one of us loves these
- 1:30:43movies. So it's always really exciting.
- 1:30:46And I know that happened last week with Pieces.
- 1:30:48Yeah, I'm surprised with the reception on pieces, honestly.
- 1:30:53I didn't know that many people like we're into it.
- 1:30:55Y'all, we were working on our fucking puzzle while we were
- 1:30:58watching Joe Bob last night and progress We put together like 15
- 1:31:01pieces we did. Really.
- 1:31:03It felt really good, yeah. Had a good day, feeling good
- 1:31:05enough to go at it again tonight.
- 1:31:07Maybe. Yeah, Yeah, we're gonna we're
- 1:31:08gonna go again while we watch some Fast and Furious, because
- 1:31:10it is I I know this is confusing because Pieces was Travis's
- 1:31:14birthday episode, but because of the schedule where we record,
- 1:31:17it's actually his birthday weekend right now.
- 1:31:19So we're doing a Fast and Furious.
- 1:31:21Thing. Yeah.
- 1:31:23And so we're gonna watch some Paul walk, and we're going to
- 1:31:26put together some puzzle pieces. Yeah.
- 1:31:28Great time and hey also e-mail us if you want to if you want to
- 1:31:35reach out to us that way or you can DM us show like that you
- 1:31:39know that's cool too our. All of the links for social and
- 1:31:41our Patreon are below in our show notes, so feel free to just
- 1:31:45click those. Yeah, and we will see you guys
- 1:31:48this weekend on To Be or Not To Be and next week on the live
- 1:31:51episode. So all right, take it easy y'all
- 1:31:54all. Right, bye.
- 1:31:55Bye. Laughed too hard at our own
- 1:32:14timeline. That's OK.
- 1:32:16We're funny.
