- 0:00Speaker 1: Here we are, guys. Last break of the day. Wow.
- 0:04Speaker 2: Thank you to our Steve Harvey Nation as always. You know, Steve,
- 0:07Speaker 2: we got Dolly from Pittsburgh who wanted to ask you
- 0:10Speaker 2: a question, wanted to say something.
- 0:13Speaker 3: Hey, this is Dolly from Pittsburgh. And I just want
- 0:15Speaker 3: to say y'all be putting too much emphasis on Steve
- 0:19Speaker 3: being rich as a reason why he doesn't know how
- 0:22Speaker 3: to wash or clean. He was not always rich. And
- 0:27Speaker 3: so if he wasn't taught to wash clothes as a
- 0:30Speaker 3: young boy, as a young man, then rich or not.
- 0:33Speaker 3: that's what he's going to be like when he grows up.
- 0:37Speaker 3: If he wasn't taught to clean up after himself, or
- 0:39Speaker 3: if he never took on to the teaching of cleaning
- 0:42Speaker 3: up after himself, then that's what he's going to do.
- 0:45Speaker 3: That's the same way he's going to be rich or poor.
- 0:49Speaker 3: He is who he is.
- 0:51Speaker 4: That's interesting. Well, you know, Dolly, I appreciate you saying that.
- 0:57Speaker 4: I was taught to clean up after myself.
- 1:00Speaker 5: I had to. I had to make the bed, all
- 1:02Speaker 5: that stuff. do dishes. I had to sweep down the stubs.
- 1:06Speaker 1: Then you got rich.
- 1:09Speaker 4: That was a conscious decision. I'm not ever doing this
- 1:12Speaker 4: no more. Now, washing clothes now, I've been to laundromats
- 1:25Speaker 4: and stuff like that. The stuff that's in our house now,
- 1:30Speaker 4: I don't know how.
- 1:30Speaker 5: To work it. I can't.
- 1:32Speaker 1: Oh, that's your excuse.
- 1:35Speaker 5: You can go on YouTube.
- 1:37Speaker 1: The University of YouTube.
- 1:40Speaker 2: Yeah, you can look up anything on YouTube and give
- 1:43Speaker 2: me instructions and show you how to use your equipment.
- 1:46Speaker 5: Why would I be in there? This is too much
- 1:49Speaker 5: for him. Why would he?
- 1:53Speaker 1: But was Dolly having your back, though?
- 1:55Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Dolly was really having my back.
- 1:58Speaker 4: I like Dolly. Dolly, my girl. Thank you, Dolly, for
- 2:01Speaker 4: defending me. Um, I didn't, I grew up having to
- 2:05Speaker 4: take care, you know, do stuff. I knew how to
- 2:07Speaker 4: do chores and stuff, but we had them. I just,
- 2:11Speaker 4: when I got well off, I don't do them no
- 2:14Speaker 4: more and they have changed and I don't know how
- 2:16Speaker 4: to do them. Like when I see commercials on TV,
- 2:19Speaker 4: I be wondering what they talking about. You ever like
- 2:20Speaker 4: them Swifter commercial where you change the head on the mop.
- 2:23Speaker 5: And all that. Who doing that?
- 2:25Speaker 3: Yes.
- 2:25Speaker 1: And I love Swiffer. I use it all the time.
- 2:29Speaker 5: Who is doing that?
- 2:31Speaker 3: Me.
- 2:31Speaker 5: Sliding in me. Dust cover on it. What is it?
- 2:33Speaker 3: Yes.
- 2:34Speaker 4: Yes.
- 2:36Speaker 1: You don't even know how much a loaf of bread costs.
- 2:39Speaker 5: None of that. Yeah.
- 2:40Speaker 4: A loaf of bread. Oh, hey, man. But I haven't
- 2:44Speaker 4: been to the grocery store in years.
- 2:46Speaker 5: You know.
- 2:49Speaker 4: And whatever it costs, I'm going to put it in
- 2:50Speaker 4: a cart anyway.
- 2:51Speaker 5: What are we talking about?
- 2:55Speaker 1: Because you need it.
- 2:56Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm going to put it in the cart.
- 2:59Speaker 4: But the reason I fight so hard for like voting
- 3:01Speaker 4: for this midterm is because I know everyday people who
- 3:05Speaker 4: are not privileged, they have to figure things out.
- 3:08Speaker 1: That's right.
- 3:09Speaker 5: That I don't even have to consider anymore.
- 3:11Speaker 4: And so my fight is for the common man, not
- 3:14Speaker 4: for me. You know, the gas prices for me, they high.
- 3:18Speaker 4: But I'm going to fill it up. So whatever, whatever
- 3:22Speaker 4: it costs. But for for everyday people, that's not a
- 3:26Speaker 4: man that's cutting into eating. That's cutting into school activities.
- 3:32Speaker 4: That's cutting it. That's cutting into some real life stuff.
- 3:35Speaker 2: And that's the difference, Steve, between you and how you
- 3:38Speaker 2: were raised. You care about the common man. This person
- 3:42Speaker 2: we have in the White House knows nothing. I mean,
- 3:45Speaker 2: he was rich. He grew up rich.
- 3:47Speaker 1: He doesn't know anything about us.
- 3:51Speaker 5: And I've been the common man.
- 3:53Speaker 1: Yeah. You were raised without for a very long time.
- 3:57Speaker 5: And I have a common man mentality.
- 3:59Speaker 4: But more than that, I have a heart for people. Exactly.
- 4:02Speaker 3: Exactly.
- 4:03Speaker 4: You know, man, I just I just resonate with people, man,
- 4:05Speaker 4: when they're out there on that struggle, because I was
- 4:08Speaker 4: I've been on the struggle. I know what that is.
- 4:10Speaker 4: I want people to be able to do better, to
- 4:14Speaker 4: create an option. That's the tough part about being successful
- 4:19Speaker 4: is people think that you don't have an awareness of
- 4:25Speaker 4: what it is to be without.
- 4:27Speaker 1: No.
- 4:27Speaker 2: Oh, he changed.
- 4:29Speaker 4: What you don't know is you don't have the awareness
- 4:31Speaker 4: of what I had to do to get to this point.
- 4:35Speaker 1: The sacrifice.
- 4:35Speaker 5: The journey. If you only knew.
- 4:39Speaker 4: But for a lot of people, not all, but for
- 4:41Speaker 4: a lot of people, everybody wants to be successful.
- 4:45Speaker 5: But when you get the invoice, wait a minute, what?
- 4:51Speaker 5: What you got to do. I got to do what now?
- 4:54Speaker 4: Yes.
- 4:54Speaker 5: Hold on. I ain't going to be able to sleep
- 4:57Speaker 5: all the time. Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. I got to leave.
- 5:00Speaker 5: I got to travel. I got to pack. Wait a minute.
- 5:04Speaker 5: Wait a minute. Wait a minute.
- 5:06Speaker 4: I'm going to have to give up some things I
- 5:07Speaker 4: really enjoy doing. The only time I can watch TV
- 5:12Speaker 4: like that is when I'm on vacation.
- 5:14Speaker 5: Because you were into Beauty in Black.
- 5:16Speaker 1: And me and my girl.
- 5:17Speaker 5: Sit down and we binge watch stuff. You know.
- 5:22Speaker 4: Or if I get a dark week on TV or something.
- 5:26Speaker 4: But that's really it. You lose all of that, man,
- 5:30Speaker 4: in your sacrifice to make it. And to make it,
- 5:33Speaker 4: you have to be willing to sacrifice. A lot of
- 5:36Speaker 4: people don't want to pay the sacrifice.
- 5:38Speaker 2: And you have to be disciplined, right, and consistent with
- 5:41Speaker 2: all of that.
- 5:42Speaker 5: It's really, really hard, man.
- 5:45Speaker 1: And no guarantees.
- 5:47Speaker 5: There are no guarantees. There are no guarantees. That's the fear.
- 5:51Speaker 5: There's no guarantees. But there is one guarantee, though. What?
- 5:57Speaker 4: That if you quit, you will never ever see if
- 6:02Speaker 4: you could have been successful.
- 6:04Speaker 5: That's the one guarantee. I enjoy that. We should talk
- 6:08Speaker 5: about this more tomorrow. That motivates you.
- 6:13Speaker 2: Take us home.
- 6:14Speaker 4: Hey, y'all have a great day today. Talk to God today.
- 6:18Speaker 4: He would absolutely love to hear from you. And he
- 6:21Speaker 4: ain't going to be mad at you because you ain't
- 6:22Speaker 4: talked to him in a while.
- 6:23Speaker 5: He ain't that type of guy. All right?
- 6:30Speaker 3: Have a good one.
