- 0:00Speaker 1: The Woody Show, just the little wrap up on the
- 0:05Speaker 1: whole topic of prosta, the senior problem, slow dance songs
- 0:09Speaker 1: for Best of seven. Dude, these prom sendoffs. So your
- 0:15Speaker 1: promposals were a big thing, right.
- 0:17Speaker 2: Part of that.
- 0:17Speaker 1: So now there's prom sendoffs. Were your kids doing any
- 0:21Speaker 1: of this stuff?
- 0:22Speaker 3: Thank God?
- 0:22Speaker 1: No, no, but it's off for Instagram all because like,
- 0:24Speaker 1: your your kids are more they how are your kids?
- 0:26Speaker 3: I got sixteen and nineteen.
- 0:28Speaker 1: Sixteen and nineteen Yeah, because dude, this has turned into
- 0:30Speaker 1: a full blown expensive celebration before the actual pop. So
- 0:37Speaker 1: people are people are spending thousands of dollars on the
- 0:42Speaker 1: pre prom festivities and so here this is According to
- 0:45Speaker 1: the article, prom sendoffs often include things like professional photography,
- 0:49Speaker 1: luxury cars, custom dresses, elaborate decorations, catering, big gatherings with
- 0:55Speaker 1: friends and extended family. One family said they spent around
- 0:59Speaker 1: six thousand dollars on their kids prom send off, which
- 1:03Speaker 1: included a three thousand dollars custom gown, a Lamborghini rental.
- 1:09Speaker 3: Okay.
- 1:09Speaker 1: Another family spent twelve thousand dollars on a themed event
- 1:13Speaker 1: inspired by Bridgerton and so parents are going overboard, saying
- 1:20Speaker 1: this is a milestone celebration to honor their kids achievement
- 1:25Speaker 1: of reaching prom.
- 1:26Speaker 4: So like, no, we did talk about this. This is
- 1:30Speaker 4: actually not a new thing. This is like the gathering
- 1:33Speaker 4: of taking the photos before you leave. Right now they're
- 1:39Speaker 4: just dumping more into that.
- 1:40Speaker 2: Yeah, you just do it on someone's lawn and go
- 1:42Speaker 2: to the prom.
- 1:43Speaker 1: Yeah, that was always like you would exchange the boot
- 1:46Speaker 1: neeer whatever.
- 1:47Speaker 2: You take pictures.
- 1:49Speaker 4: There might have been some kind of catering, like little
- 1:53Speaker 4: bites to eat or something, but that was you.
- 1:56Speaker 2: Meet at the friend's house with the nicest launch.
- 1:58Speaker 3: They're talking about like some keys or something.
- 2:00Speaker 1: Nothing crazy. These you know, like the younger the younger kids. Now, man,
- 2:04Speaker 1: they are living in a different world because even Easter
- 2:09Speaker 1: we've talked about. Fine, there was like an Easter basket,
- 2:12Speaker 1: your parents maybe hide a couple of those plastic eggs
- 2:14Speaker 1: that you have some candy and crap in it.
- 2:16Speaker 5: Now they're getting full on gifts, getting gifts. They're getting gifts,
- 2:20Speaker 5: gifts for Easter.
- 2:22Speaker 2: Right because it's a different time of years.
- 2:24Speaker 1: Brom send off. Yeah, you a different time. You're justifying it's.
- 2:28Speaker 4: A different time of year from Christmas when you're getting
- 2:30Speaker 4: all wonderfills and stuff like that.
- 2:31Speaker 6: So then Easter is a nice time.
- 2:34Speaker 1: Summer Easter was all about sacrifice, by the way, not
- 2:36Speaker 1: getting gifts like you know, not well.
- 2:41Speaker 2: D lent, and then Easter is my reward. You got
- 2:44Speaker 2: closed for Easter? Yeah wow, I would get yeah, bathing suits,
- 2:48Speaker 2: flip flop summary stuff or whatever.
- 2:51Speaker 4: Your parents are nice, right, I like yeah, duh yeah, because.
- 2:57Speaker 2: A lot of times though, like kids need that. So
- 3:00Speaker 2: anyways you're going to buy it, it's just packaged with Easter.
- 3:03Speaker 2: I just don't want them to expect that crap for
- 3:05Speaker 2: a present.
- 3:05Speaker 1: All right, if it wasn't Christmas, where new socks or
- 3:08Speaker 1: underwear things like that, dumb that stuff that parents just
- 3:12Speaker 1: package up so they can have more things under the tree.
- 3:14Speaker 1: Like okay, so yeah maybe like uh you know, yeah
- 3:17Speaker 1: your new Christmas jammis. Yeah, we didn't get those, but
- 3:21Speaker 1: maybe got a sweater or something from a family member.
- 3:25Speaker 1: Clothes for Christmas? That blows. The only other time there
- 3:28Speaker 1: was new clothes the entire year was back to school, Yes,
- 3:31Speaker 1: thank you, that was it. Back to school. That's where
- 3:34Speaker 1: you got the pair of sneakers that had the last
- 3:36Speaker 1: year the entire year, and you know, man, like if
- 3:39Speaker 1: you drew on them with a pen or you did
- 3:40Speaker 1: it blew them up by getting because we were playing
- 3:44Speaker 1: sports and everything and getting so the dirt and all
- 3:46Speaker 1: the you know, they get all jacked up. Tough, toughish man.
- 3:49Speaker 1: You wore those the entire year, didn't matter what was
- 3:51Speaker 1: going on. There was no like seasonal no seasonal outfitting. No,
- 3:55Speaker 1: because you grow out of it, your bathing aware of
- 3:58Speaker 1: how it works the kids next year, I understand, but
- 4:02Speaker 1: there was no like Easter gift giving in these This
- 4:05Speaker 1: prompting is insane, Like you're catering and you're getting Lamborghini
- 4:08Speaker 1: rentals and I think this is so much you're treating
- 4:10Speaker 1: it like a wedding or like a bar mitzvah.
- 4:12Speaker 2: Yeah, like not only is.
- 4:15Speaker 5: Almost swore, it's ridiculous. The only new clothes I got
- 4:19Speaker 5: were hand me downs from my brother. That was it.
- 4:22Speaker 1: I got plenty of hand me downs too.
- 4:24Speaker 4: Yeah, but like at the beginning of the year and
- 4:26Speaker 4: then anything in between that I would have to like
- 4:28Speaker 4: buy it myself.
- 4:30Speaker 1: Nine one six. What type of people are doing this?
- 4:31Speaker 3: Would he? Gee?
- 4:32Speaker 1: I wonder I'll give you three guesses. People, Yeah, rhymes
- 4:35Speaker 1: with schmite. People rais people.
- 4:42Speaker 2: That's what it is exactly saying this is for the parents.
- 4:46Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 4:47Speaker 1: Another you know what, another effect of social media, right,
- 4:50Speaker 1: because the parents didn't put it on social media and
- 4:52Speaker 1: that you know, uh puff their chest out to all
- 4:55Speaker 1: the other moms and you know, showing off. I mean,
- 4:58Speaker 1: the social media wasn't a found when when I was
- 5:01Speaker 1: going to know, you have very different we've we've learned
- 5:04Speaker 1: long ago your yea, your existence so I think was
- 5:07Speaker 1: very different than yeah. Yeah, and there's.
- 5:13Speaker 3: Nothing wrong with that.
- 5:14Speaker 1: It's just great for you. But explain, there's like you
- 5:18Speaker 1: had some kind of fantasy world going on compared to
- 5:21Speaker 1: compared to like most of the rest of us. You're
- 5:24Speaker 1: trying to explain to you, like, it's not that.
- 5:27Speaker 7: Everybody, Like what did you have both parents to Yes, lucky.
- 5:32Speaker 4: That's weird parents they live in the house.
- 5:38Speaker 1: Yeah, so weird. The person who fathered you is still
- 5:42Speaker 1: together with the person who carried you to term.
- 5:45Speaker 4: Wow, you babysitters doing cocaine when you were a kid,
- 5:51Speaker 4: like in front of you.
- 5:54Speaker 1: No, that's weird.
- 5:57Speaker 2: Boy once and then we told on them and they
- 5:59Speaker 2: never may again.
- 6:02Speaker 1: Shows that day.
- 6:04Speaker 3: Is show.
- 6:08Speaker 1: All right, tom Stretch, final hour of the Woodie Show
- 6:12Speaker 1: here on this throw back Thursday, Woodie, Greg Dennis, there's
- 6:17Speaker 1: Gina Grange, we got Sea Bass, We've got Sammy. Jeff
- 6:21Speaker 1: g is here, and ladies and gentlemen, we have another
- 6:25Speaker 1: guest in the studio, as we always do around this
- 6:28Speaker 1: time on a throwback Thursday. He is the Pride of Pacoima, California.
- 6:32Speaker 1: He is the senior vice president managing partner of Club
- 6:35Speaker 1: Turn Up El Presidente TiO two. DJ Tim Martinez. How
- 6:45Speaker 1: are you, sir?
- 6:45Speaker 3: What is up?
- 6:46Speaker 1: Woody Show dude. We're getting a lot of great feedback
- 6:49Speaker 1: on this this t Tim idea we started running with
- 6:53Speaker 1: all of a sudden over the last couple of weeks.
- 6:56Speaker 1: So Jeff g has questions and then what we try
- 6:59Speaker 1: to do is guess what your answer will be. And
- 7:03Speaker 1: I went out and I bought these fancy little white boys.
- 7:06Speaker 1: Well we use them. We use them for the dumb
- 7:13Speaker 1: ass spelling bee uh huh. And they really they've already
- 7:16Speaker 1: they've already paid for themselves.
- 7:18Speaker 5: It's a great investment.
- 7:19Speaker 3: It's great.
- 7:20Speaker 1: So because what we'd like to try to match answers, right, so, uh,
- 7:24Speaker 1: Jeff will have the question, We'll write down our answers,
- 7:27Speaker 1: and then too, Tim, he will uh, he will tell
- 7:30Speaker 1: us what he thinks. Now, people have been suggesting questions.
- 7:33Speaker 1: You can send those over on the text over to
- 7:36Speaker 1: two to ninety seven. If you got a good question
- 7:37Speaker 1: you like to have answered for a round of too, Tim.
- 7:41Speaker 1: And then also you can send us an email email
- 7:43Speaker 1: at the Woodi Show dot com. Are you ready to go? Tim?
- 7:46Speaker 1: And then we'll go up in the club, all right, Teo, Tim.
- 7:49Speaker 1: Question number one.
- 7:50Speaker 3: Jeff g what you got, Tim?
- 7:52Speaker 7: When Mexican people want to go to a white people restaurant,
- 7:56Speaker 7: which restaurant do they go to?
- 7:59Speaker 1: I got this a.
- 8:00Speaker 2: Couple of ches.
- 8:01Speaker 3: I do you know? I have a couple of I
- 8:03Speaker 3: have a class.
- 8:04Speaker 1: Okay, all right, all right, got it?
- 8:11Speaker 5: All right?
- 8:12Speaker 1: Now you're writing down your answer to right, Tim, I
- 8:15Speaker 1: wrote it down. You write it down, all right, And
- 8:17Speaker 1: we're just picking one.
- 8:18Speaker 8: Yeah, okay, which I don't know if i'd like I
- 8:22Speaker 8: like to have like an honorable mention, Gina.
- 8:28Speaker 2: Your answer when you're here your family, olive garden.
- 8:31Speaker 1: Olive garden, Okay, Greg Gory, I also have all of
- 8:38Speaker 1: the guarden Menace. Denys Denny is my second choice. I
- 8:43Speaker 1: thought about Denny's. I considered Denny's. What did you write down?
- 8:46Speaker 1: I said, Chili's, Chili's, Chili's, Applebee's. Another I write down,
- 8:51Speaker 1: cheesecake factory, cheesecake factory. What'd you write down? Jeff g Olive?
- 9:04Speaker 1: Now are any of us right?
- 9:07Speaker 3: Yes?
- 9:07Speaker 5: Really?
- 9:08Speaker 1: Yes, Tim, I have a connection with somebody, Tim, hold
- 9:12Speaker 1: it up. Chili? What's your go to at Chili's? Which
- 9:19Speaker 1: chilies can? It's somewhat of not not a cheat, you
- 9:22Speaker 1: know what I mean, because I mean it is it's Southwest,
- 9:25Speaker 1: so there's some Yeah, I mean we were talking about,
- 9:28Speaker 1: like what's the whitest thing on the menu at a
- 9:30Speaker 1: Mexican restaurant. Somebody said fijidas. The chili is known for
- 9:33Speaker 1: the fihidas, you know, things like that. But yeah, text
- 9:38Speaker 1: mex is different, but half a text mex is mex.
- 9:45Speaker 9: Right, I mean great, great, great apps like you know,
- 9:52Speaker 9: you know what they changed at Chili's. They used to
- 9:55Speaker 9: the because they would do not chose differently.
- 9:58Speaker 1: It was almost like individual chips, and on top of
- 10:00Speaker 1: each individual chip they would put like some refried beans,
- 10:04Speaker 1: and then they melt cheese over the top with all
- 10:06Speaker 1: the other stuff, right, and then they bake them badly?
- 10:09Speaker 1: You know they changed them up?
- 10:12Speaker 2: Is it just a pile of chips?
- 10:14Speaker 1: It's not the same, and it's it's not nearly as good,
- 10:17Speaker 1: I mean most delete it.
- 10:19Speaker 2: But sadly.
- 10:20Speaker 1: All right, Next question for Tim?
- 10:23Speaker 7: All right, deal Tim? What is the most famous movie
- 10:26Speaker 7: about Mexicans? Could be in Mexican celebrity? Maybe culture?
- 10:29Speaker 3: Easy, lifestyle? Okay, easy? Most famous movie having to do
- 10:36Speaker 3: with Mexicans?
- 10:38Speaker 6: So sorry, are we talking like about one person?
- 10:42Speaker 3: Are we talking just in general? Could be about one
- 10:44Speaker 3: person in general? All right?
- 10:48Speaker 1: I have a I have a guess.
- 10:51Speaker 2: And mine has to be right.
- 10:53Speaker 1: I have a guess, and I think mine has to
- 10:54Speaker 1: be right as well. But I have I have some
- 10:56Speaker 1: reasoning behind it.
- 10:57Speaker 3: I have to.
- 10:58Speaker 6: But you got two, that's okay, think that's what I
- 11:01Speaker 6: got it?
- 11:02Speaker 1: All right, all right, I have to a you gotta
- 11:05Speaker 1: pick one menace you did? Okay, everybody write those down? Okay,
- 11:10Speaker 1: I'll start this one. I wrote LaBamba and I'll tell
- 11:13Speaker 1: you what, Because Tim is the pride of you were
- 11:17Speaker 1: gonna say, Tim, you already wrote your down right, Okay? Okay,
- 11:21Speaker 1: So like he's the pride, He's from Pacoima. El is
- 11:24Speaker 1: from Pacoima. Richie balance right, and so also, you know,
- 11:29Speaker 1: big movie, great for the culture, you know, celebrating a big,
- 11:33Speaker 1: a big hero in the community. So for all those reasons,
- 11:37Speaker 1: I said LaBamba Gina grad all right, Greg Gory my
- 11:42Speaker 1: third the love bomba alright, you were caught between two.
- 11:46Speaker 4: Yeah, I'll say the one that I didn't write down
- 11:48Speaker 4: was My Crazy Life.
- 11:50Speaker 3: But I put blood in blood Out.
- 11:52Speaker 1: That's blood and blood Out. Yeah, I'm not familiar with
- 11:56Speaker 1: blood in blood Out.
- 11:57Speaker 3: It's very famous. Yeah, you should watch it.
- 12:02Speaker 4: So I almost said Lobamba like everyone else, but I
- 12:05Speaker 4: went with Selena.
- 12:08Speaker 3: Also Clutch, Okay, Jeff g It's not my first or
- 12:12Speaker 3: my last. Is Labomba quote the Great Bob.
- 12:16Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah yeah, and Greg and j cartoons.
- 12:19Speaker 1: Buzz Buzzard Buzzard Wood drawn all the characters, buzz Buzzer.
- 12:29Speaker 8: I just, you know what's funny, I just rewatched LaBamba
- 12:33Speaker 8: last week.
- 12:35Speaker 3: I hadn't seen it, literally since the time.
- 12:38Speaker 1: What's the what's you know? What's the actor's name? We
- 12:40Speaker 1: played Richie's brother, Bob. What's his name name? What's his name?
- 12:46Speaker 2: I literally forgot its? Thank you.
- 12:51Speaker 3: She knows.
- 12:52Speaker 1: She's pretending that she doesn't know it.
- 12:53Speaker 2: Was no, it was she was.
- 12:55Speaker 5: She was.
- 12:56Speaker 1: She was the queen of the of the fan club there.
- 12:58Speaker 2: For Morales was on the tip of my tongue. Let's
- 13:02Speaker 2: put it that way.
- 13:02Speaker 3: Yeah, all right, all right, I let all of you down.
- 13:07Speaker 6: My guy.
- 13:10Speaker 3: Stand. That was the second shot out. My second was
- 13:17Speaker 3: blood and blood out.
- 13:19Speaker 9: So I mean, come on, Manma never crossed your mind.
- 13:24Speaker 8: So take that back.
- 13:28Speaker 3: Obama did.
- 13:29Speaker 8: But if that's why I asked, Jeff was like, are
- 13:31Speaker 8: we talking like single one person out?
- 13:34Speaker 3: Are we talking?
- 13:35Speaker 1: I let the kind.
- 13:39Speaker 3: I let my hometown down.
- 13:41Speaker 1: Damn.
- 13:42Speaker 3: All right.
- 13:43Speaker 1: One more question, Yes, this is the final one.
- 13:46Speaker 3: How many is too many baby mamas?
- 13:48Speaker 7: All right?
- 13:49Speaker 3: Everybody has their limit.
- 13:51Speaker 1: How many has too many baby mamas? All right? Okay,
- 13:55Speaker 1: I got my I got my answer, round down? All right? Yeah, yours?
- 14:01Speaker 3: But got there?
- 14:02Speaker 1: Yeah all right, menace you First I put three three.
- 14:06Speaker 4: I have a lot of friends with two, and then
- 14:09Speaker 4: once they hit three, that guy has a problem.
- 14:13Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, all right, Greg Gory.
- 14:15Speaker 5: I don't know why I put four.
- 14:17Speaker 6: Four.
- 14:18Speaker 1: Wow, all right.
- 14:19Speaker 2: Wow, I put no such thing.
- 14:25Speaker 1: I just noticed how he did the little boarder I
- 14:27Speaker 1: decorated Sammy.
- 14:30Speaker 2: I went with four as well.
- 14:31Speaker 1: Four. I put one, Like any more than one is
- 14:35Speaker 1: too much? Yeah, because like the hassle. And also I'm
- 14:39Speaker 1: I'm kind of thinking like from the perspective of Tim, well,
- 14:43Speaker 1: like I don't think Tim would have the patience for
- 14:44Speaker 1: more than no ways for one for sure, like when
- 14:50Speaker 1: when Veronica ends up divorcing.
- 14:52Speaker 8: Me, I am so.
- 14:58Speaker 3: Sure, Jeff, would you want put three?
- 15:00Speaker 1: Three?
- 15:01Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 15:01Speaker 7: Yeah, three, because you got to figure like if you
- 15:03Speaker 7: break up with one, you get another one.
- 15:04Speaker 3: That's two. Yeah, you know, so that's about right? Yeah? Yeah,
- 15:08Speaker 3: three is max? All right?
- 15:11Speaker 1: Tim?
- 15:12Speaker 4: No more than two, man, Yeah, I think that's I mean,
- 15:17Speaker 4: my buddies have the hack where you have one baby
- 15:19Speaker 4: mama that's in Mexico, so they're not like in the
- 15:22Speaker 4: same city.
- 15:23Speaker 3: You know, you have a separate family. I feel like
- 15:27Speaker 3: you send some money every so often.
- 15:30Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, the hack, Yeah, the hack trauma. Well, look,
- 15:36Speaker 1: if you have a question for a future round of
- 15:38Speaker 1: to Tim, you can send us on the text over
- 15:40Speaker 1: to two two nine eight seven. Yeah. You can also
- 15:43Speaker 1: send us a question through the email email at what
- 15:46Speaker 1: he Show dot com or through social media any means uh.
- 15:48Speaker 1: And then you know, Jeff is collecting these and he's
- 15:50Speaker 1: been doing a really good job of selecting the questions
- 15:53Speaker 1: for us for the first couple of weeks here of
- 15:55Speaker 1: this really good. Are you able to share the follow
- 15:58Speaker 1: up from one of our other Tim questions, because what
- 16:02Speaker 1: was that where you and you and your wife got
- 16:04Speaker 1: into the argument and then with your daughter because the
- 16:09Speaker 1: question was like, Tim, let's say your daughter got pregnant.
- 16:12Speaker 1: The question was, let's say your daughter got pregnant, and
- 16:16Speaker 1: the question was like she's living with you? Do you
- 16:19Speaker 1: let the baby daddy the boyfriend? Do you let him
- 16:22Speaker 1: move in?
- 16:23Speaker 3: Bro? Save yourself dog?
- 16:26Speaker 1: No, he already answered the question.
- 16:27Speaker 3: He answered the question, no, he did, But you want
- 16:29Speaker 3: to recap.
- 16:31Speaker 1: But yes, who heard it? His wife and his daughter
- 16:34Speaker 1: And so this led to a discussion at the at
- 16:36Speaker 1: the Martinez household.
- 16:37Speaker 3: So I went home. I went home.
- 16:39Speaker 6: They're like, so we heard we heard you on the
- 16:41Speaker 6: Woody Show. And I was like, oh, okay, cool, Like
- 16:42Speaker 6: you literally never listened, but I'm glad. I'm glad you
- 16:46Speaker 6: listened today.
- 16:47Speaker 3: And she was like, are you kidding?
- 16:49Speaker 6: If Lauren got pregnant, you wouldn't let her boyfriend live
- 16:52Speaker 6: with us?
- 16:52Speaker 8: And I was like, hell no, And it was like absolutely,
- 16:55Speaker 8: we would allow that, and wood he actually said that
- 16:58Speaker 8: last week when we talked about it, was like, that
- 17:01Speaker 8: is not happening, and she was like, no, it is
- 17:05Speaker 8: like it was starting in a complete argument, and I
- 17:07Speaker 8: was like over a hypothetical, hypothetical hypothetical, And I was like, hey,
- 17:11Speaker 8: let's make this easy, like seriously, like, if this actually
- 17:14Speaker 8: happens and he wants to move in, all three of
- 17:17Speaker 8: you can move out.
- 17:20Speaker 1: Literally.
- 17:21Speaker 3: That didn't go either. She's a business.
- 17:24Speaker 2: She was like, dude, you're out of your mind.
- 17:26Speaker 3: This is our daughter.
- 17:27Speaker 6: And I was like, but he ain't my son.
- 17:29Speaker 2: Yeah, right, give a penny, take a penny, you leave
- 17:32Speaker 2: and let him move in.
- 17:33Speaker 1: Yeah, okay, Well let's uh, let's flip the script. What
