Transcript
- 0:04Speaker 1: Hey guys, you're back.
- 0:05Speaker 2: Oh normally the show was normal. It takes me and
- 0:08Speaker 2: it just gets weird. I'm Mary Catherine.
- 0:09Speaker 3: Hume and I'm Carol Marcoitz Gary Catherine. I realized I
- 0:13Speaker 3: forgot to tell you. I wait. I went to go
- 0:15Speaker 3: see Nate Brigatti last week.
- 0:18Speaker 2: Yeah, it's so good.
- 0:19Speaker 3: It was so good. He's so normal. I just feel
- 0:22Speaker 3: like if I ever met him, I'd be like, your
- 0:24Speaker 3: brand is normal, Our brand is normal. I really enjoyed it,
- 0:30Speaker 3: super clean humor. I wish my kids were with me,
- 0:33Speaker 3: but the tickets were also really expensive, so you know,
- 0:36Speaker 3: just forget them. It was amazing. He was hilarious and
- 0:41Speaker 3: did just a really great job, you know, doing what he.
- 0:44Speaker 2: Does, undisputed king of the normies. He's He's so great.
- 0:48Speaker 2: I love any opportunity he gets. Just keep giving him stuff,
- 0:52Speaker 2: just like just like I want Doug Burgham and Marco
- 0:54Speaker 2: Rubert to have like so funny seven jobs. I'm happy
- 0:57Speaker 2: for Nate Bargazzi to have all the entertainment jobs.
- 1:00Speaker 4: So just do that.
- 1:02Speaker 3: Yes, love it.
- 1:04Speaker 2: So, by the way, I say, can I say also
- 1:06Speaker 2: that I'm coming off a nine to ten mile hike today,
- 1:13Speaker 2: so if my words give me yeh know.
- 1:17Speaker 3: Why I'll be there to help you.
- 1:19Speaker 2: I feel like I have very few friends who would
- 1:22Speaker 2: have wanted to join me on that one, and I
- 1:24Speaker 2: have one friend who did and we made it happen.
- 1:28Speaker 3: Like, yeah, I know, I'm at the bottom of that
- 1:31Speaker 3: list of friends who would want to join you. Like
- 1:33Speaker 3: that was my gut feeling for drinks afterwards. Maybe you
- 1:37Speaker 3: know so Iran is still the top story of the week.
- 1:44Speaker 3: We are going to be releasing this episode a day
- 1:47Speaker 3: early because it is changing so quickly and we don't
- 1:51Speaker 3: know what's going to happen. We're recording this Tuesday night.
- 1:56Speaker 3: Trump was going to speak and then the White House
- 1:58Speaker 3: called a lid, so we don't know. He had a
- 2:01Speaker 3: two hour conversation with Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Yeah Who.
- 2:07Speaker 3: We don't know what they spoke about. Yet they've been
- 2:10Speaker 3: getting along and I think things are going pretty swimmingly.
- 2:14Speaker 3: Israel has frankly been on a tear. They've been dismantling
- 2:21Speaker 3: the place, and things are going very well.
- 2:24Speaker 2: Yeah. I mean, look, Israel is surrounded by Iranian proxies.
- 2:29Speaker 2: Iranian proxies have been doing harm to American assets and
- 2:32Speaker 2: American soldiers and American races and American ships for years
- 2:36Speaker 2: and years and years done worse often to Israel. And again, I,
- 2:43Speaker 2: like I said, I don't want to assume that Iran
- 2:48Speaker 2: doesn't have capabilities that it might still have. Yes, and
- 2:52Speaker 2: I don't think I think Israel's intel has shown itself
- 2:55Speaker 2: to be extremely competent. I'm I'm sure they quite a
- 3:00Speaker 2: bit about it. But this does seem like just such
- 3:04Speaker 2: a high value opportunity to put this awful, violent regime
- 3:11Speaker 2: that would like to take over the world and like
- 3:14Speaker 2: to have a nuke, which is a really bad combo
- 3:16Speaker 2: of all the things on its knees. Yeah, and there's
- 3:19Speaker 2: a yes seems like an open one given that Israel
- 3:23Speaker 2: took out all of their missile defenses pretty quick, it's
- 3:26Speaker 2: been continues to take out launching spots and here.
- 3:31Speaker 3: We are, Yeah, here we are. So the question has
- 3:34Speaker 3: been is this going to split MAGA and I have
- 3:37Speaker 3: a new poll to tell our listeners about that found
- 3:41Speaker 3: this is a poll of just Trump voters. So eighty
- 3:45Speaker 3: percent of Trump voters back the United States providing the
- 3:49Speaker 3: offensive weapons to Israel. I'm not surprised by that at all.
- 3:52Speaker 3: In addition, the poll found seventy two percent of voters
- 3:55Speaker 3: support of the United States taking its own military action
- 3:59Speaker 3: targeting to prevent the Iranian regime from developing nuclear weapons.
- 4:03Speaker 3: Then eighty percent of voters felt that I ran as
- 4:06Speaker 3: a destabilizing force, a sponsors terrorism, threatens US allies, and
- 4:10Speaker 3: undermines American interest throughout the region. Seventy two percent said
- 4:14Speaker 3: I ran with a serious threat to the United States
- 4:17Speaker 3: national security. Now let's be real here. This poll was
- 4:21Speaker 3: conducted yesterday and the day before, so Monday and Sunday.
- 4:25Speaker 3: It's very possible that Americans have seen Israel deliver a
- 4:30Speaker 3: total whooping on Iran in the last few days and decided, sure,
- 4:34Speaker 3: why not we could join in. That's fine, because I
- 4:38Speaker 3: don't think that if this poll was conducted before the
- 4:41Speaker 3: fighting began and we saw just what a paper tiger
- 4:44Speaker 3: Iran really is, that the numbers would be quite this high.
- 4:48Speaker 3: But it really does say something that there really isn't
- 4:51Speaker 3: a split in MAGA. These are Trump voters with these numbers.
- 4:55Speaker 2: Well, and I think something that I have pretty much
- 4:59Speaker 2: always liked about Trump, even when I've been very skeptical
- 5:02Speaker 2: of him, as I was during his first term. Look,
- 5:05Speaker 2: he'll say things that make me nervous on the foreign
- 5:08Speaker 2: policy front. I get nervous about like Steve Whitcoff saying
- 5:11Speaker 2: he's negotiating. I think a lot of that was a ruse. Sure,
- 5:15Speaker 2: I get nervous about these things. And also Trump does
- 5:19Speaker 2: seem to know when the rubber hits the road wins
- 5:22Speaker 2: a good opportunity. He listens to military experts about it,
- 5:27Speaker 2: he listens to intel. He doesn't drop off cash for
- 5:31Speaker 2: enemies instead opting for bombs. And the thing that I
- 5:35Speaker 2: think many Americans are okay with is an American foreign
- 5:40Speaker 2: policy from a guy who says, these are bad guys.
- 5:43Speaker 2: I don't want to go nation build. I just want
- 5:46Speaker 2: to go strike and then come home and let the
- 5:49Speaker 2: pilots have lunch. Like that's that's what he wants to do,
- 5:53Speaker 2: and he has a record of doing it on solo money.
- 5:55Speaker 2: He's like, I got a hit, I'm going to take
- 5:57Speaker 2: the hit, and right, that's it. And I actually this
- 6:00Speaker 2: is a very DC story. I was at a very
- 6:03Speaker 2: DC dinner the night that Solomoni was struck was killed,
- 6:09Speaker 2: as our friend Smokes has turned to salsa, and everyone
- 6:15Speaker 2: at this sort of conventional table of foreign foreign policy
- 6:18Speaker 2: experts because it was very beltwigh situation was like, oh
- 6:24Speaker 2: my gosh, this is it. This is the beginning of
- 6:27Speaker 2: World War three. He's done it. He's done the thing
- 6:29Speaker 2: we were afraid of, that we said he was going
- 6:31Speaker 2: to do. And I was basically the only person who
- 6:34Speaker 2: was like, I don't know, Like, maybe it's goodbe not
- 6:38Speaker 2: the Iranian general who's guilty of a lot of bad
- 6:41Speaker 2: stuff and was in Iraq doing those bad things to
- 6:44Speaker 2: our people, and maybe it won't be World War three.
- 6:48Speaker 2: And in fact it wasn't right because Trump takes the
- 6:51Speaker 2: shot and then goes back to doing what he does right.
- 6:55Speaker 2: And he's done that with the Houties, where he's bombed
- 6:58Speaker 2: them for six weeks. Actually from Noah Pollock had a
- 7:01Speaker 2: tweet on this, and it echoed exactly what I was thinking.
- 7:04Speaker 2: He says, this endless war shrieking is ridiculous. Trump bombed
- 7:07Speaker 2: the hoodies for six weeks and then ended it. He
- 7:09Speaker 2: fought Isis for around two years to feed them, and
- 7:12Speaker 2: then ended it. Trump killed Solomoni and did not engage further.
- 7:15Speaker 2: He degraded al Shabab and Somalia for three years and
- 7:18Speaker 2: then ended it. Trump's record of not dragging us into
- 7:21Speaker 2: another endless war is impeccable.
- 7:24Speaker 3: Yeah, I also think he you know, for all of
- 7:26Speaker 3: Trump's off the coff stuff, and look, you know you
- 7:29Speaker 3: and I have been critical when we feel like he
- 7:32Speaker 3: just says things. He just says things. He actually has
- 7:36Speaker 3: been telegraphing this for a long time. The White House released,
- 7:39Speaker 3: you know, a montage of Trump commenting on this over
- 7:42Speaker 3: the years. But I went back to May when he
- 7:46Speaker 3: did his Middle Eastern tour and he gave that speech
- 7:49Speaker 3: in Saudi Arabia, where I liked that speech a lot,
- 7:53Speaker 3: but I felt like a lot of people who are
- 7:56Speaker 3: supportive of Israel didn't like it. And they didn't I
- 7:59Speaker 3: thought they just didn't understand it. And at the time
- 8:03Speaker 3: he said in that speech, he said, I Ran can
- 8:06Speaker 3: have a much brighter future, but we will never allow
- 8:09Speaker 3: them to threaten America and our allies with terrorism or
- 8:12Speaker 3: nuclear attack. The time is right now for them to choose.
- 8:16Speaker 3: And I at the time was like, how do you
- 8:19Speaker 3: not hear this as a pro Israel speech? Which allies?
- 8:22Speaker 3: Does he mean here? It could only be Israel? So,
- 8:26Speaker 3: you know, I think people wanted and some anti Israel
- 8:29Speaker 3: people also heard this as an anti Israel speech, and
- 8:32Speaker 3: I was just perplexed at the time. I did not
- 8:35Speaker 3: understand how anybody could have heard it as anything other
- 8:38Speaker 3: than Trump being supportive of Israel, which he has been
- 8:40Speaker 3: the entire time he ran for president, and during his
- 8:44Speaker 3: entire first administration he has been damn near flawless on Israel.
- 8:50Speaker 2: I just think that I understand why people worry about
- 8:54Speaker 2: nation building.
- 8:56Speaker 3: Yeah, we did it poorly.
- 8:57Speaker 2: Yeah. A friend of mine tweeted at one point, not
- 9:00Speaker 2: anti warrior, anti nation building, right, and that is Look,
- 9:03Speaker 2: I have many friends who lost limbs, I have families
- 9:06Speaker 2: who lost family members in those conflicts, trying to make
- 9:10Speaker 2: good on those promises, right. I understand people being war
- 9:13Speaker 2: weary and being worried about that. But I think Trump
- 9:17Speaker 2: has shown a propensity to be like occasionally bellicos and
- 9:22Speaker 2: then wrapper up, which I think most Americans are comfortable with.
- 9:27Speaker 2: Certainly most Republicans are comfortable with, yeah, and probably most
- 9:30Speaker 2: Trump voters. While there are also very loud Trump coalition
- 9:35Speaker 2: influencers who disagree right.
- 9:38Speaker 3: And those influencers, it turns out, are a stark minority,
- 9:42Speaker 3: And I feel like, you know, for a lot of
- 9:44Speaker 3: those influencers, it's not about war, it's not about even
- 9:48Speaker 3: nation building. It's about being anti Israel. Look it feels
- 9:52Speaker 3: like that that's their prerogative, but don't try to sell
- 9:56Speaker 3: us on Oh this is not what Trump ran on.
- 10:00Speaker 3: I know, retweeted a bunch of old tweets of mine
- 10:03Speaker 3: where Trump is saying Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon
- 10:07Speaker 3: and Trump is saying we will stand by Israel. So
- 10:10Speaker 3: I just don't see how anybody could have followed politics
- 10:14Speaker 3: for the last, you know, almost ten years of Trump
- 10:17Speaker 3: on the scene. It's actually we just passed the ten
- 10:19Speaker 3: year mark when he came down the escalated and not
- 10:21Speaker 3: seeing him as this very very pro Israel guy.
- 10:27Speaker 2: Yeah, And I think when it comes to foreign policy,
- 10:31Speaker 2: having credible threats, having capable allies who are doing the
- 10:36Speaker 2: kinds of amazing almost magical things that Israel is accomplishing
- 10:39Speaker 2: right now, it really is those things make peace. And
- 10:45Speaker 2: I know it's like it's an old saw, peace through strength,
- 10:49Speaker 2: but I believe it real and reterrence is real, and
- 10:52Speaker 2: when you lose it, it's hard to get back, and
- 10:54Speaker 2: we certainly lost it during Afghanistans withdrawal. And I just
- 11:00Speaker 2: like to see I have rejoiced to see Israel's successes
- 11:04Speaker 2: and to see institutions work the way they're supposed to
- 11:08Speaker 2: work and in sometimes like really astounding ways, and for
- 11:11Speaker 2: us to be able to buoy that and to on
- 11:14Speaker 2: the cheap get maybe a huge when in the region.
- 11:19Speaker 3: I mean absolutely, I'm not.
- 11:21Speaker 2: Mad at it.
- 11:21Speaker 3: Yeah, definitely. You know. Trump had a comment today he
- 11:27Speaker 3: said on his truth social he said, we now have
- 11:31Speaker 3: complete and total control of the skies over Iran. Iran
- 11:34Speaker 3: had good skytrackers and other defensive equipment, and plenty of it,
- 11:37Speaker 3: but it doesn't compare to American made, conceived and manufactured stuff.
- 11:41Speaker 3: Nobody does it better than the good old USA. And
- 11:44Speaker 3: a lot of people were like, we now have complete
- 11:48Speaker 3: and total control of the skies over Iran. Okay, Like
- 11:52Speaker 3: that's great.
- 11:53Speaker 2: You know why I can't credit it, but yeah, because
- 11:55Speaker 2: I didn't see the name. But somebody tweeted the kid
- 11:59Speaker 2: who does nothing the group project and still get today.
- 12:02Speaker 3: Somebody on one of my group chats said, it's like
- 12:04Speaker 3: when the husbands like, we're pregnant.
- 12:08Speaker 2: I did all this work.
- 12:10Speaker 3: It's great.
- 12:11Speaker 2: Oh wow, Yeah, we shall keep you posted. But I
- 12:13Speaker 2: don't I think the split is overblown. I agree.
- 12:17Speaker 3: I agree, it is overblown and I really don't see
- 12:22Speaker 3: uh much of a split in real life especially So
- 12:27Speaker 3: look again, you're the influencers. Can say what they want.
- 12:30Speaker 3: They can be angry about any military action at all,
- 12:34Speaker 3: but it is not the military action that they're pretending
- 12:39Speaker 3: it will be. I would be against that military action.
- 12:41Speaker 3: I'd be against boots on the ground for American troops.
- 12:45Speaker 3: We'll be right back on normally. Meanwhile, what are the
- 12:52Speaker 3: Democrats up to? Oh my god, it's just you know,
- 12:56Speaker 3: Democrats keep getting arrested for illegal imigrants and it is
- 13:01Speaker 3: just entirely baffling to me how they've decided that this
- 13:06Speaker 3: is the issue that they're going to just this is
- 13:08Speaker 3: the hill that they're going to die on. It's unbelievable.
- 13:11Speaker 3: So we know Senator Alex Padilla interrupted Secretary Christinome last
- 13:17Speaker 3: week as she was speaking. He was tackled by secret Service.
- 13:21Speaker 3: He was not wearing his senator pin and she did
- 13:24Speaker 3: not know who he was, so he just came off
- 13:26Speaker 3: as some guy charging at the Secretary Palm and Security.
- 13:30Speaker 3: Earlier today, Democratic reps, I'm going to butcher Raja Krishna
- 13:35Speaker 3: Morphy and Jonathan Jackson attempted to enter an ICE facility
- 13:40Speaker 3: in Chicago. It was an interaction that they filmed. The
- 13:44Speaker 3: guy at the ice facility was basically like, no, I
- 13:47Speaker 3: don't have to answer to you and close the gate
- 13:49Speaker 3: on them. And then also today Brad Lander, a mayoral
- 13:53Speaker 3: candidate in New York City, attempted to stop ice from
- 13:57Speaker 3: detaining someone by locking arms with them. It turned into
- 14:00Speaker 3: a bit of a wrestling match. Our friend Kirsten Fleming wrote,
- 14:03Speaker 3: he looks like the town drunk getting tossed out of
- 14:06Speaker 3: the bar once again for getting fresh with the waitress.
- 14:09Speaker 3: That really sums it up very well. He was very disheveled.
- 14:14Speaker 3: Why are they doing this? It is just bananas to
- 14:18Speaker 3: me that they've decided to make this their whole issue.
- 14:22Speaker 3: And it's not over for brad Lander. He got to
- 14:24Speaker 3: get out, but the US Attorney's Office is still investigating
- 14:27Speaker 3: his actions. I'm baffled, and I'm baffled despite Brad Lander
- 14:32Speaker 3: was my city councilman in Brooklyn and he was the
- 14:35Speaker 3: absolute worst. I'll get into that in a second, But
- 14:37Speaker 3: what do you think? What are we looking at here?
- 14:40Speaker 3: Why do they need this issue so badly? Why have
- 14:42Speaker 3: they decided this is the issue?
- 14:45Speaker 2: I mean look, I had sort of a radicalizing moment
- 14:48Speaker 2: during COVID when in La LA's public school teachers who
- 14:53Speaker 2: would not teach American children in classrooms volunteered to go
- 14:58Speaker 2: to migrant shelters. And I just thought, oh, no, they
- 15:06Speaker 2: just really like them not an Americans, Like it's just
- 15:13Speaker 2: and it is it. They just keep proving that, And
- 15:19Speaker 2: I'm not I generally want to not uh like assume
- 15:23Speaker 2: people's motives in that way, but the evidence is mounting
- 15:28Speaker 2: right that they want to offer benefits that other people
- 15:32Speaker 2: don't get. I've always felt this way about in state
- 15:34Speaker 2: tuition for illegal immigrants, like, so, a kid from North
- 15:37Speaker 2: Carolina can't go uh to another state, but but somebody
- 15:43Speaker 2: from El Salvador can get in state tuition, Like it's
- 15:46Speaker 2: wild to me. But they do this over and over again.
- 15:49Speaker 2: They show it over and over again. They care more
- 15:52Speaker 2: about uh protecting illegal immigrants than they do about those
- 15:56Speaker 2: who are hurt by them. And it's such a bad issue,
- 16:01Speaker 2: and I think they look at they look at us
- 16:03Speaker 2: on the boys and girls' sports issue and go, I
- 16:08Speaker 2: can't believe this is the hill you're going to pick
- 16:09Speaker 2: to die on. I'm like, my dude, this is an
- 16:11Speaker 2: eighty twenty issue.
- 16:12Speaker 3: Right.
- 16:13Speaker 2: We look at them and go, why is this the
- 16:14Speaker 2: hill you're dying on?
- 16:15Speaker 1: And I think maybe they think it's an eighty twenty
- 16:18Speaker 1: issue and they've been so bubblized they don't realize that
- 16:22Speaker 1: at best this is splitting in half for some groups
- 16:26Speaker 1: of migrants, right, And this.
- 16:28Speaker 2: Whole theatrical nonsense. Yeah, tonight's wear padilla and his situation
- 16:34Speaker 2: when he comes into the room. He's not wearing his
- 16:36Speaker 2: pen on purpose. When you're in a situation as a
- 16:40Speaker 2: senator and by the way, not a well known senator
- 16:42Speaker 2: you were appointed. Now he knows who you are.
- 16:44Speaker 3: I have to admit I did not know his name.
- 16:47Speaker 2: You wear your pen so that all the security can
- 16:50Speaker 2: know that you are who you say you are, the guy.
- 16:54Speaker 2: And it is a whole lot to ask a secret servants,
- 16:58Speaker 2: agents of protection forces in general that you just get
- 17:03Speaker 2: to wander up as a large man to a small
- 17:06Speaker 2: female cabinet secretary. After the president has had three plots
- 17:10Speaker 2: for maybe four plots against him for assassination, two of
- 17:14Speaker 2: them come close to pulled off, and they're just supposed
- 17:19Speaker 2: to sit on their hands. It's until you clarify crazy
- 17:23Speaker 2: puts them in a terrible position, and he did it
- 17:25Speaker 2: on purpose because he wanted this result.
- 17:28Speaker 3: Yeah, it's wild. Let me tell you guys a little
- 17:31Speaker 3: bit about Brad Lander, because I just he's the kind
- 17:33Speaker 3: of politician that I always worry will succeed beyond where
- 17:37Speaker 3: he should. So he was my city councilman. He's now
- 17:40Speaker 3: the controller of New York City. The last time he
- 17:43Speaker 3: got arrested for protesting was in favor of speed cameras
- 17:49Speaker 3: being put around the city. He felt like people were
- 17:51Speaker 3: speeding and it's really you know, he wanted to make
- 17:55Speaker 3: sure that people weren't going to do that, and somehow
- 17:57Speaker 3: that turned into a tussle with police and he got
- 18:01Speaker 3: his speed cameras, went on to get dozens of tickets,
- 18:05Speaker 3: speeding tickets on the speeding cameras he wanted to put in.
- 18:10Speaker 3: But he let me tell you another little story about him.
- 18:13Speaker 3: He one time was on a panel and he got
- 18:19Speaker 3: tried to arrange protesters for the panel that he was
- 18:23Speaker 3: participating in for them to come in protest so that
- 18:26Speaker 3: it would make news, and he was since he's completely inept,
- 18:30Speaker 3: he sent them to the wrong address. I mean, this
- 18:32Speaker 3: guy is just he is an embarrassment. I have maybe
- 18:39Speaker 3: a little bit too much information on him because he
- 18:41Speaker 3: was my city councilman and I felt so strongly about
- 18:43Speaker 3: his just ridiculous policies. But this is the guy I
- 18:48Speaker 3: always worried would become mayor of New York. Now the
- 18:51Speaker 3: other communists running in the race certainly seems as bad,
- 18:55Speaker 3: if not worse. But yeah, Brad Lander arrested to because
- 19:01Speaker 3: he decided he had to make a splash for his
- 19:04Speaker 3: mayoral campaign. Really, there wasn't at all about, you know,
- 19:07Speaker 3: about anything else. Here is his wife. We have a
- 19:10Speaker 3: clip of his wife talking about what it means that
- 19:14Speaker 3: he got arrested. I mean, it's not what I want
- 19:17Speaker 3: to say to them, but I mean, what are what
- 19:19Speaker 3: are we doing? What are we doing as a country.
- 19:21Speaker 4: If they're gonna take Brad into the elevator like that,
- 19:24Speaker 4: and he's the citywide elected official, how are they treating
- 19:27Speaker 4: our neighbors and our other folks.
- 19:29Speaker 3: I mean, I would say that, you know, they represent
- 19:32Speaker 3: the Justice Department at some point, and this is the
- 19:34Speaker 3: antism antithesis of justice, don't is.
- 19:37Speaker 2: No one above the law? Yeah, or people above the law?
- 19:40Speaker 3: Now, right, of course, they found tweets of Brad Lander
- 19:42Speaker 3: saying no one is above the law. He obviously thinks
- 19:46Speaker 3: he is above the law. I tried to interfere with
- 19:48Speaker 3: ICE agents because he just felt like he was on
- 19:51Speaker 3: the right side of that, and they better listen to him.
- 19:53Speaker 2: And here's the thing that can be your sincere take right.
- 19:58Speaker 2: I'm an activist, I'm an up in here. I'm going
- 20:01Speaker 2: to cause trouble. Great, you also have to take the
- 20:03Speaker 2: punishment for that. That's your your semi civil disobedience is
- 20:07Speaker 2: gonna come right, possibly being a little man handled and
- 20:11Speaker 2: dragged away if you look like you're being threatening to
- 20:14Speaker 2: someone or interfering with law enforcements, lawful duties.
- 20:17Speaker 3: Yeah, and they did. You know, as I'm watching this,
- 20:20Speaker 3: this like tussle, they really didn't like grab him aggressively.
- 20:26Speaker 3: I felt like, I don't know if I'm an ICE agent.
- 20:28Speaker 3: I maybe this is why I'm not an ICE agent. Yeah,
- 20:31Speaker 3: but I feel like I would be more like he's
- 20:34Speaker 3: stopping you from making the arrest that you're there to make.
- 20:37Speaker 3: And he just thinks he's gonna link arms, and that'll
- 20:40Speaker 3: be you know, why are you arresting me? I'm just
- 20:42Speaker 3: standing in this hallway, is what he's saying. And You're like,
- 20:45Speaker 3: you're not just standing in this hallway, you're literally blocking me.
- 20:47Speaker 3: I think that the agents are report very gentle with him.
- 20:51Speaker 2: The progress report on a agent Mark Wuitz is that
- 20:54Speaker 2: she does not show proper restraint. This is I also
- 21:01Speaker 2: think that once once it's been made clear to this
- 21:05Speaker 2: person that they can't interfere in the way that they're
- 21:07Speaker 2: whether it's padilla or lamber, like, how do the agents
- 21:11Speaker 2: not just be like, this is embarrassing for you, right,
- 21:14Speaker 2: let's just let's just not do that anymore. But I
- 21:18Speaker 2: think they they think it looks courageous or virtuous. I
- 21:22Speaker 2: think it looks quite silly. I agree, even when I think, oh,
- 21:25Speaker 2: maybe they went a little hard, maybe they should let up,
- 21:27Speaker 2: which I haven't thought yet, Like if I did, I
- 21:30Speaker 2: would still be like, but oh, this is what I
- 21:32Speaker 2: was gonna say, Carol, if we reversed it and it
- 21:35Speaker 2: was like a not very well known Republican senator busted up.
- 21:40Speaker 2: Let's say during Obama Care busted into Kathleen Sibelius. I'm
- 21:44Speaker 2: picking a female imagine into into a press conference instead
- 21:49Speaker 2: of giving an opposing press conference. Waltz is up in there,
- 21:52Speaker 2: moves toward the stage, pushes back on officers and then
- 21:56Speaker 2: gets put to the ground. Yeah, I would agree with
- 22:01Speaker 2: the Republican senator's position on Obamacare and say he.
- 22:05Speaker 3: Done brought that on himself, right, not wearing his pin
- 22:08Speaker 3: like come on, yeah.
- 22:10Speaker 2: I swear to you I would not give him a break.
- 22:12Speaker 2: I might be like, oh, like, maybe they shouldn't have
- 22:15Speaker 2: gone so hard, Like that's that's as far as I
- 22:17Speaker 2: would go. Yeah, because I'd be like, that was dumb.
- 22:20Speaker 2: You should have done that, right.
- 22:21Speaker 3: But I didn't. I didn't even think that they went
- 22:23Speaker 3: hard on Senator pay But he disagrees, and we're gonna
- 22:27Speaker 3: we're gonna play a little clip of him tearing up
- 22:30Speaker 3: and talking about what they did to him.
- 22:33Speaker 5: I was forced to the ground, first on my knees
- 22:42Speaker 5: and then flat on my chest, and it's those handcuffed
- 22:51Speaker 5: and marched down a hallway, repeatedly.
- 22:56Speaker 4: Asking why am I being detained? Not once did they
- 23:03Speaker 4: tell me why. I pray you never have a moment
- 23:08Speaker 4: like this, but I will tell you. In that moment,
- 23:14Speaker 4: a lot of questions came to my mind. First of all,
- 23:20Speaker 4: where are they taking me? Because I know I'm not
- 23:23Speaker 4: just being escorted out of the building. Am I being
- 23:28Speaker 4: arrested here.
- 23:29Speaker 3: Don't charge at the Secretary of Homeland Security as she's
- 23:32Speaker 3: giving a speech and try to interrupt her. And this
- 23:35Speaker 3: won't happen to you. It's really just that simple. Yeah.
- 23:39Speaker 2: Well, and once he pushes back on those officers, it
- 23:42Speaker 2: is an insert that they get him out of the room. Yeah,
- 23:46Speaker 2: because they don't know whether to believe that he's there
- 23:48Speaker 2: doing what he says he's doing.
- 23:50Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 23:50Speaker 2: Also, can I just like appro tip on reaching mail voters.
- 23:54Speaker 2: Stop crying. There's a lot of crying going on Act.
- 24:01Speaker 2: There's a lot Ken Martin, We're.
- 24:04Speaker 3: Just both not criers.
- 24:05Speaker 2: I feel like, I don't know, I just I just
- 24:09Speaker 2: think I'm just saying that's one of the things you.
- 24:11Speaker 3: Can try normally. Pro tip stop crying.
- 24:15Speaker 2: Actually one of my I'm not in favor of more
- 24:17Speaker 2: federal laws in general, but if I could ban one thing,
- 24:20Speaker 2: it would be crying selfie videos.
- 24:22Speaker 3: Oh yeah, for sure, illegal right now worse?
- 24:25Speaker 2: Yeah, straight to jail.
- 24:26Speaker 3: Yeah, pineapple and pizza and crying video.
- 24:29Speaker 2: No, I'm a violator, No violator.
- 24:33Speaker 3: No, in my uh, in my dictatorship, it would be illegal,
- 24:38Speaker 3: So you'd check us.
- 24:40Speaker 2: I'm out of luck.
- 24:41Speaker 3: Yeah, we're going to take a short break and come
- 24:44Speaker 3: right back with normally light story wrap us up here.
- 24:51Speaker 2: Yeah, so you know how the news media sometimes does
- 24:54Speaker 2: this thing where they discover things that have always existed. Yeah, this, yes,
- 25:00Speaker 2: Annually outlets like the New York Times. New York Times
- 25:03Speaker 2: does a trend piece this week on is it okay
- 25:06Speaker 2: for your kids to rot all summer? Some parents are
- 25:10Speaker 2: choosing to forego high intensity camps and activities for their
- 25:13Speaker 2: children in favor of weeks of unplanned time. No way
- 25:17Speaker 2: call it. They got a name for it, kid rotting.
- 25:23Speaker 4: One.
- 25:23Speaker 2: I don't like the term rotting. Bed rotting is what
- 25:25Speaker 2: the youngs call just sitting around binging a TV. Now,
- 25:29Speaker 2: I'm not in favor of the term rotting. It just
- 25:31Speaker 2: grosses me out. Right. This is also just known as summer, right,
- 25:37Speaker 2: that's what used to be known as summer. Yeah, yeah,
- 25:40Speaker 2: I don't need a new version. I fully agree.
- 25:43Speaker 3: And I wrote about a very similar thing in January
- 25:49Speaker 3: of twenty sixteen. It was during the time, you know,
- 25:53Speaker 3: between when kids are off for a break, and everybody
- 25:56Speaker 3: was like, what are your kids going to do? And
- 25:57Speaker 3: I had small kids, and I was like, what am
- 25:59Speaker 3: I going to do? We take them to the park
- 26:00Speaker 3: once a day, and you know, that's what I'm going
- 26:04Speaker 3: to do. My kids go to some version of camp.
- 26:07Speaker 3: They do also have a lot of downtime with no camp,
- 26:11Speaker 3: weeks and weeks of nothing going on. What I wrote
- 26:14Speaker 3: at the time is raising children is exhausting, and there's
- 26:18Speaker 3: no reason to make it more difficult by wearing ourselves
- 26:20Speaker 3: out in pursuit of entertainment for our kids. That's not
- 26:23Speaker 3: to say we shouldn't be involved in our children's lives
- 26:26Speaker 3: or long for some glory days where our moms chain
- 26:29Speaker 3: smoked cigarettes and played majong with their friends while we
- 26:32Speaker 3: entertained ourselves with matches and dry cleaner bags. There is
- 26:35Speaker 3: a happy medium, there is, and you know I mentioned
- 26:41Speaker 3: this on Fox the other day talking about this. But
- 26:43Speaker 3: my fifteen year old daughter has been sleeping till noon
- 26:46Speaker 3: every day, and good for her. She works really hard
- 26:50Speaker 3: all year. She's a straight A student. Let her enjoy
- 26:54Speaker 3: and then she'll have some you know, teen tours coming up.
- 26:58Speaker 2: I loved the way that they have to pay being
- 27:00Speaker 2: bored to high strung New York parents in this. By
- 27:06Speaker 2: the way, one of the camps on this list that
- 27:08Speaker 2: they mentioned in the New York Times piece, which, of course,
- 27:10Speaker 2: like all of this is out of my income bracket.
- 27:13Speaker 2: One of the camps is like the Metropolitan Museum of
- 27:17Speaker 2: Art maybe, and it's fifteen hundred dollars a week. I'm
- 27:27Speaker 2: gonna check it, weld On, it's in here. Oh I
- 27:30Speaker 2: can't find it, okay, ive, Yeah. The point is at
- 27:34Speaker 2: one point in this piece, uh, they there's a person
- 27:38Speaker 2: who advises private school admissions missions consultant in Manhattan. She
- 27:45Speaker 2: advises these parents to give their kids some unscheduled time,
- 27:48Speaker 2: and she's she says, I tell them their kid will
- 27:50Speaker 2: be more ahead with their own experimentation versus taking a
- 27:55Speaker 2: class inside other children. She said. Registering for STEM camp,
- 27:59Speaker 2: for instance, may seem like a great idea to a parent,
- 28:01Speaker 2: but it can leave little room for a kid to
- 28:03Speaker 2: explore their natural curiosities. It's all adult driven.
- 28:07Speaker 4: Yep.
- 28:08Speaker 3: Yeah, I have to I have to just also add
- 28:10Speaker 3: this is I mean that New York you know type
- 28:13Speaker 3: a thing is so so real. But when my daughter
- 28:18Speaker 3: was we had our first child and we were living
- 28:21Speaker 3: in Manhattan, we had to apply her to nursery school,
- 28:23Speaker 3: which is like applying to college. I wrote a really
- 28:27Speaker 3: jokey essay about like, you know, like she likes to
- 28:30Speaker 3: play with her ABC puzzle, but mostly she likes putting
- 28:33Speaker 3: all the pieces in a handbag and carrying it around
- 28:35Speaker 3: the house. And like I just I made it as much, like,
- 28:39Speaker 3: isn't this ridiculous? She got in, Yes, if you make
- 28:42Speaker 3: if you make a big joke out of it. She
- 28:44Speaker 3: got into like, you know, the only the only nursery
- 28:47Speaker 3: school we applied to, but that was really really hard
- 28:50Speaker 3: to get into. So nice.
- 28:52Speaker 2: Yeah, by the way, just for the record, it is
- 28:54Speaker 2: the American Museum of Natural History and it is thirteen hundred.
- 28:56Speaker 3: Per week, thirteen hundred a week. That is in sanity.
- 29:01Speaker 3: Why I was thinking eight hundred as a like extremely
- 29:04Speaker 3: high number that would be ridiculous.
- 29:07Speaker 2: Well, and I would say, I get it that people
- 29:09Speaker 2: need childcare obviously, That's why people end up with kids
- 29:12Speaker 2: at YMCA camps. And actually I think day camps at
- 29:15Speaker 2: REX and nine yeah, probably are a lot of boredom,
- 29:18Speaker 2: Like they're not exactly totally planning that day either. But
- 29:23Speaker 2: there is so much to be said for kids having
- 29:25Speaker 2: unstructured time just goof off and they find so many
- 29:30Speaker 2: cool things to do. My kids this summer have started
- 29:32Speaker 2: with a friend in the neighborhood. They started playing like
- 29:34Speaker 2: a pirate themed game and now they've decided that they're
- 29:37Speaker 2: writing a book about pirates, but like they're the daughters
- 29:40Speaker 2: of pirates, and I actually think it's a pretty great concept.
- 29:44Speaker 2: And they've everyday with like little character studies and I'm like,
- 29:48Speaker 2: if I had them in camp, they would be doing this.
- 29:50Speaker 3: Yeah, totally, I fully on board. My kids live outside
- 29:55Speaker 3: most of the year. I totally love it, and yeah,
- 29:58Speaker 3: let them enjoy it, let them be kids, like just
- 30:02Speaker 3: all this structured stuff, you.
- 30:03Speaker 2: Know, that's part of it too. It's it's and it
- 30:05Speaker 2: makes parenting more fun because you are not you are
- 30:08Speaker 2: not killing yourself to shuttle your children from thing to thing,
- 30:13Speaker 2: and you might actually get organic, creative fun time with them, exactly,
- 30:18Speaker 2: and they're not burnt out and you're not as burnt out. Absolutely.
