Speaker 1: Chapter one, in which we are introduced to Winnie the
• 0:03
Speaker 1: Pooh and some bees and the stories begin. Here is
• 0:09
Speaker 1: Edward Bair coming downstairs now, bump bump, bump on the
• 0:14
Speaker 1: back of his head behind Christopher Robin. It is, as
• 0:18
Speaker 1: far as he knows, the only way of coming downstairs.
• 0:20
Speaker 1: But sometimes he feels that there really is another way,
• 0:23
Speaker 1: if only he could stop bumping for a moment and
• 0:25
Speaker 1: think of it. And then he feels that perhaps there
• 0:28
Speaker 1: isn't anyhow. Here he is at the bottom and ready
• 0:32
Speaker 1: to be introduced to you, Winnie the Pooh. When I
• 0:36
Speaker 1: first heard his name, I said, just as you were
• 0:38
Speaker 1: going to say. But I thought he was a boy,
• 0:41
Speaker 1: so did I said, Christopher Robin. You can't call him Winnie.
• 0:45
  Speaker 1: I don't. But you said he's Winnie the Pooh. Don't
• 0:49
Speaker 1: you know what the means. Ah, Yes, now I do,
• 0:53
Speaker 1: I said quickly, And I hope you do too, because
• 0:56
Speaker 1: it's all the explanation you're going to get. Sometimes, Winnie
• 0:59
Speaker 1: the pool a game of some sort when he comes downstairs,
• 1:02
Speaker 1: and sometimes he likes to sit quietly in front of
• 1:04
Speaker 1: the fire and listen to a story this evening. What
• 1:08
Speaker 1: about a story, said Christopher Robin, What about a story?
• 1:12
Speaker 1: I said, could you very sweetly tell Winnie the Pooh one?
• 1:16
Speaker 1: I suppose I could? I said, what sort of stories
• 1:19
Speaker 1: does he like about himself? Because he's that sort of bear? Oh,
• 1:23
Speaker 1: I see, so could you very sweetly? I'll try, I said,
• 1:31
Speaker 1: So I tried. Once upon a time, a very long
• 1:35
Speaker 1: time ago, now about last Friday, Winnie the Pooh lived
• 1:39
Speaker 1: in the forest all by himself, under the name of Sanders.
• 1:42
Speaker 1: What does under the name mean, asked Christopher Robin. It
• 1:46
Speaker 1: means he had the name over the door in gold
• 1:48
Speaker 1: letters and lived under it. Winnie the Pooh wasn't quite sure,
• 1:52
Speaker 1: Sir Christopher Robin. Now I am, said a growley voice.
• 1:56
Speaker 1: Then I'll go on, said I. One day, when he
• 1:59
Speaker 1: was out walking, he came to an open place in
• 2:01
Speaker 1: the middle of the forest. And in the middle of
• 2:03
Speaker 1: this place was a large oak tree, And from the
• 2:06
Speaker 1: top of the tree there came a loud, buzzing noise.
• 2:09
Speaker 1: Winnie the Pooh sat down at the foot of the tree,
• 2:11
Speaker 1: put his head between his paws, and began to think.
• 2:14
Speaker 1: First of all, he said to himself that buzzing noise
• 2:17
Speaker 1: means something you don't get a buzzing noise like that,
• 2:21
Speaker 1: just buzzing and buzzing without its meaning something. If there's
• 2:26
Speaker 1: a buzzing noise, somebody's making a buzzing noise. And the
• 2:30
Speaker 1: only reason for making a buzzing noise that I know
• 2:33
Speaker 1: of is because you're a bee. And then he thought
• 2:36
Speaker 1: another long time and said, and the only reason for
• 2:39
Speaker 1: being a bee that I know of is making honey.
• 2:43
Speaker 1: And then he got up and said, and the only
• 2:45
Speaker 1: reason for making honey is so as I can eat it.
• 2:50
Speaker 1: So he began to climb the tree. He climbed, and
• 2:53
Speaker 1: he climbed, and he climbed, and as he climbed, he
• 2:57
Speaker 1: sang a little song to himself. It went like this,
• 3:01
Speaker 1: isn't it funny how a bear likes honey? Buzz buzz buzz.
• 3:06
Speaker 1: I wonder why he does. Then he climbed a little further,
• 3:12
Speaker 1: and a little further, and then just a little further,
• 3:16
Speaker 1: And by that time he'd thought of another song. It's
• 3:20
Speaker 1: a very funny thought that if bears were bees, they
• 3:24
Speaker 1: build their nest at the bottom of trees, And that
• 3:28
Speaker 1: being so, if the bees were bears, we shouldn't have
• 3:33
Speaker 1: to climb up all these stairs. He was getting rather
• 3:39
Speaker 1: tired by this time, so that's why he sang a
• 3:41
Speaker 1: complaining song. He was nearly there now, and if he
• 3:45
Speaker 1: just stood on that branch, crack. Oh, help, said pooh,
• 3:50
Speaker 1: as he dropped ten feet on the branch below him.
• 3:53
Speaker 1: If only I hadn't, he said, as he bounced twenty
• 3:56
Speaker 1: feet onto the next branch. You see what I meant
• 3:59
Speaker 1: to do, he explained, as he turned head over heels
• 4:01
Speaker 1: and crashed onto another branch thirty feet below. What I
• 4:05
Speaker 1: meant to do? Of course it was rather, he admitted,
• 4:09
Speaker 1: as he slivered very quickly through the next six branches.
• 4:11
Speaker 1: Who it all comes, I suppose, he decided, as he
• 4:14
Speaker 1: said goodbye to the last branch, spun around three times,
• 4:17
Speaker 1: and flew gracefully into a gauze bush. It all comes
• 4:20
Speaker 1: of liking honey so much. For help, He crawled out
• 4:25
Speaker 1: of the gause bush, brushed the prickles from his nose,
• 4:27
Speaker 1: and began to think again. And the first person he
• 4:30
Speaker 1: thought of was Christopher Robin. Was that me? Said Christopher
• 4:35
Speaker 1: Robin in an awed voice, hardly daring to believe it.
• 4:38
Speaker 1: That was you? Christopher Robin said nothing, but his eyes
• 4:42
Speaker 1: got larger and larger, and his face got pinker and pinker.
• 4:47
Speaker 1: So Winnie the Pooh went round to his friend Christopher Robin,
• 4:49
Speaker 1: who left behind a green door in another part of
• 4:52
Speaker 1: the forest. Good morning, Christopher Robin, he said, Good morning.
• 4:56
Speaker 1: Winnie the Pooh said, you, Oh, wonder if you've got
• 5:00
Speaker 1: such a thing as a balloon about you? A balloon? Yes,
• 5:05
Speaker 1: I just said to myself, coming along, I wonder if
• 5:08
Speaker 1: Christopher Robin has such a thing as a balloon about him.
• 5:11
Speaker 1: I just said it to myself, thinking of balloons and
• 5:15
Speaker 1: wondering what do you want a balloon for? He said.
• 5:20
Speaker 1: Winnie the Pooh looked round to see that nobody was listening,
• 5:23
Speaker 1: put his paw to his mouth, and said, in a
• 5:25
Speaker 1: deep whisper, honey. But you don't get honey with balloons,
• 5:31
Speaker 1: I do, said Pooh. Well, it just happened that you've
• 5:35
Speaker 1: been to a party the day before at the house
• 5:36
Speaker 1: of your friend Piglet, and you had balloons. At the party.
• 5:40
Speaker 1: You had had a big green balloon, and one of
• 5:42
Speaker 1: Rabbit's relations had a big blue one and had left behind,
• 5:46
Speaker 1: being really too young to go to a party at all,
• 5:48
Speaker 1: And so you had brought the green one and the
• 5:51
Speaker 1: blue one home with you, which one would you like, who,
• 5:54
Speaker 1: asked Pooh. He put his head between his paws and
• 5:57
Speaker 1: thoughts very carefully. It's like this, he said, when you
• 6:02
Speaker 1: go after honey with a balloon. And the great thing
• 6:05
Speaker 1: is not to let the bees know you're coming. Now,
• 6:08
Speaker 1: if you have a green balloon, they might think you
• 6:11
Speaker 1: were only part of the tree and not notice you.
• 6:15
Speaker 1: And if you have a blue balloon, they might think
• 6:18
Speaker 1: you're only part of the sky and not notice you.
• 6:21
Speaker 1: And the question is which is most likely. Wouldn't they
• 6:27
Speaker 1: notice you underneath the balloon, he asked, They might or
• 6:32
Speaker 1: they might not. So Winnie the Poo, who never can
• 6:35
Speaker 1: tell with bees, he thought for a moment and said,
• 6:38
Speaker 1: I shall try to look like a small black cloud.
• 6:43
Speaker 1: That would deceive them. And then you'd better have the
• 6:45
Speaker 1: blue balloon, he said. And so it was decided. Well,
• 6:49
Speaker 1: you both went out with the blue balloon, and you
• 6:51
Speaker 1: took your gun with you, just in case, as you
• 6:53
Speaker 1: always did. And Winning the Poo went to a very
• 6:56
Speaker 1: muddy place that he knew of, and rolled and rolled,
• 6:59
Speaker 1: and he was black all over. And then when the
• 7:02
Speaker 1: balloon was blown up as big as big, and you
• 7:05
Speaker 1: and Pooh were both holding onto the string you let
• 7:07
Speaker 1: go suddenly, and Pooh Bear floated gracefully up into the
• 7:10
Speaker 1: sky and stayed there, level with the top of the tree,
• 7:14
Speaker 1: at about twenty feet away from it. Hooray, he shouted.
• 7:19
Speaker 1: Isn't that fine? Shouted Winnie the Pooh down to you.
• 7:22
Speaker 1: What do I look like? He looked like a bear
• 7:26
Speaker 1: holding onto a balloon, he said, Not, said Pooh anxiously.
• 7:31
Speaker 1: Not like a small black cloud in a blue sky.
• 7:36
Speaker 1: Not very much. Oh well, perhaps from up here it
• 7:41
Speaker 1: looks different. And as I say, you never can tell
• 7:44
Speaker 1: with bees. There was no wind to blow him nearer
• 7:47
Speaker 1: to the tree, so there he stayed. He could see
• 7:51
Speaker 1: the honey, he could smell the honey, but he couldn't
• 7:54
Speaker 1: quite reach the honey. After a little while, he called
• 7:58
Speaker 1: down to you, Christopher. He said, in a loud whisper, Hello,
• 8:04
Speaker 1: I think the bees suspect something. What sort of thing,
• 8:10
Speaker 1: I don't know, but something tells me that they're suspicious.
• 8:14
Speaker 1: Perhaps they think that you're after their honey. It may
• 8:17
Speaker 1: be that you never can tell with bees. There was
• 8:21
Speaker 1: another little silence, and then he called down to you again,
• 8:24
Speaker 1: Christopher Robin, Yes, have you an umbrella in your house?
• 8:30
Speaker 1: I think so. I wish you would bring it out
• 8:34
Speaker 1: here and walk up and down with it and look
• 8:36
Speaker 1: up at me every now and then and say, it
• 8:39
Speaker 1: looks like Rain. I think if you were did that,
• 8:42
Speaker 1: who would hope the deception which we are practicing on
• 8:44
Speaker 1: these bees? Well, you laugh at yourself, city old bear,
• 8:50
Speaker 1: but you didn't say it aloud because he was so
• 8:52
Speaker 1: fond of him, and you went home for your umbrella.
• 8:55
Speaker 1: Oh there you are, called down with Nie the poo.
• 8:57
Speaker 1: As soon as you got back to the tree, I
• 8:59
Speaker 1: was beginning to get anxious. I've discovered that the bees
• 9:02
Speaker 1: are now definitely suspicious. Shall I put my umbrella up?
• 9:07
Speaker 1: He said yes, But to wait a moment. We must
• 9:10
Speaker 1: be practical. The important bee to deceive is the queen bee.
• 9:15
Speaker 1: Can you see which is the queen bee? From down there? Now,
• 9:21
Speaker 1: pity we will now if you walk up in town
• 9:24
Speaker 1: with your umbrella saying tut tut, it looks like Rain.
• 9:27
Speaker 1: I shall do as I can by singing a little
• 9:30
Speaker 1: cloud song, such as a cloud might sing. Go. So
• 9:35
Speaker 1: while you walked up and down and wondered if it
• 9:37
Speaker 1: would rain, we need the pooh sang this song, how
• 9:41
Speaker 1: sweets to be a cloud floating in the blue.
• 9:47
Speaker 2: Every little cloud always sings a loud How sweet to
• 9:55
Speaker 2: be a cloud floating in the blue. It makes him
• 10:02
Speaker 2: very proud to be a little cloud.
• 10:08
Speaker 1: The bees were still buzzing as suspiciously as ever. Some
• 10:12
Speaker 1: of them indeed left their nests and flew all round
• 10:14
Speaker 1: the cloud as it began the second verse of this song,
• 10:17
Speaker 1: and one bee sat down on the nose of the
• 10:18
Speaker 1: cloud for a moment, and then got up again. Christopher
• 10:22
Speaker 1: Oh Robin called out the cloud. Yes, I've just been thinking,
• 10:29
Speaker 1: and I've come to a very important decision. These are
• 10:33
Speaker 1: the wrong sort of bees, are they? Oh, quite the
• 10:37
Speaker 1: wrong sort? So I should think they would make the
• 10:40
Speaker 1: wrong sort of honey, shouldn't you? Would they? Yes? So
• 10:46
Speaker 1: I think I shall come down, how asked you? Who
• 10:51
Speaker 1: hadn't thought about this? If he let go of the string,
• 10:54
Speaker 1: he would fall bump And he didn't like the idea
• 10:56
Speaker 1: of that. So he thought for a long time, and
• 10:59
Speaker 1: then he said, Christopher Robin, you must shoot the balloon
• 11:03
Speaker 1: with your gun. Have you got your gun? Of course
• 11:06
Speaker 1: I have, he said, But if I do that, it'll
• 11:09
Speaker 1: spoil the balloon, he said. But if you don't, said pooh,
• 11:13
Speaker 1: I shall have to let go and that would spoil me.
• 11:17
Speaker 1: When he put it like this, you saw how it was.
• 11:20
Speaker 1: And she aimed very carefully at the balloon and fired. Oh,
• 11:24
Speaker 1: said Pooh, did I miss you? Asked who? You didn't
• 11:29
Speaker 1: exactly miss, said Pooh, But you missed the balloon. I'm
• 11:33
Speaker 1: so sorry, he said, And he fired again, and this
• 11:36
Speaker 1: time you hit the balloon, and the air came slowly out,
• 11:40
Speaker 1: and Winnie the Pooh floated down to the ground. But
• 11:44
Speaker 1: his arms were so stiff from holding onto the string
• 11:47
Speaker 1: of the balloon all that time that they stayed up
• 11:49
Speaker 1: straight in the air for more than a week. And
• 11:51
Speaker 1: whenever a fly came and settled on his nose, he
• 11:54
Speaker 1: had to blow it off. Pooh, And I think, but
• 11:58
Speaker 1: I'm not quite sure, but that is why he was
• 12:02
Speaker 1: always called Pooh. Is that the end of the story,
• 12:07
Speaker 1: asked Christopher Robin. And that's the end of that one.
• 12:10
Speaker 1: There are others about Poo and me had piglets and
• 12:13
Speaker 1: rabbits and all of you. But you remember, I do remember,
• 12:18
Speaker 1: And then when I tried to remember, I forget that
• 12:22
Speaker 1: day when Poo and pigle that tried to catch the
• 12:23
Speaker 1: head flump. They didn't catch it, did they? No? Pooh
• 12:27
Speaker 1: couldn't because he hadn't any brain. Did I catch it? Well?
• 12:32
Speaker 1: That comes into the story, Gris Robin nodded, I do remember,
• 12:36
Speaker 1: he said, Only Pooh doesn't very well. So that's why
• 12:40
Speaker 1: he likes having it told to him again, because then
• 12:42
  Speaker 1: it's a real story and not just a remembering. That's
• 12:46
Speaker 1: just how I feel, I said. Christopher Robin gave a
• 12:49
Speaker 1: deep sigh, picked his bear up by the leg, and
• 12:51
Speaker 1: walked off to the door, trading Poo behind him. At
• 12:55
Speaker 1: the door, he turned and said, coming to see me
• 12:57
  Speaker 1: have my bath, I might, I said, I didn't hurt
• 13:02
Speaker 1: him when I shot him, did I? Not? A bit?
• 13:05
Speaker 1: He nodded and went out, and in a moment I
• 13:08
Speaker 1: heard Winnie the Pooh bump bump bump going up the
• 13:12
Speaker 1: stairs behind him. End of chapter one, Chapter two, in
• 13:19
Speaker 1: which Pooh goes visiting and gets into a tight place.
• 13:24
Speaker 1: Edward Bhare going to his friends as Winnie the Pooh
• 13:27
Speaker 1: or Pooh for short, was walking through the forest one day,
• 13:30
Speaker 1: humming proudly for himself. He had made up a little
• 13:33
Speaker 1: hum that very morning as he was doing his stoutness
• 13:36
Speaker 1: exercises in front of the glass trollola troumola as he
• 13:41
Speaker 1: stretched up as high as he could go. Then trollo
• 13:44
Speaker 1: la troulla e help l lah as he tried to
• 13:49
Speaker 1: reach his toes after breakfast. He'd said it over and
• 13:52
Speaker 1: over to himself until he learned it off by heart,
• 13:55
Speaker 1: and now he was humming it right through properly. He
• 13:57
Speaker 1: went like this, trolla lah tololage hollo lage holl lah
• 14:03
Speaker 1: rum tom ti lung tom till litl till little till
• 14:09
Speaker 1: little till little rum tom tong till lum. Well, he
• 14:15
Speaker 1: was humming this hum to himself and walking along gaily,
• 14:18
Speaker 1: wondering what everybody else was doing and what it felt
• 14:20
Speaker 1: like being somebody else, when suddenly he came to a
• 14:23
Speaker 1: sandy bank, and then the bank was a large hole.
• 14:27
Speaker 1: Ha ha, said pooh, rum tum ti lum tom. If
• 14:32
Speaker 1: I know anything about anything, that hole means rabbit, he said.
• 14:38
Speaker 1: And rabbit means company, he said, And company means food
• 14:43
Speaker 1: and listening to me humming in such like rum tom
• 14:47
Speaker 1: tum ti lung. So he bent down, put his head
• 14:50
Speaker 1: into the hole and called out, who's anybody is home?
• 14:55
Speaker 1: There was a sudden stuffling noise from inside the hole.
• 14:58
Speaker 1: And then silence. What I said was, is anybody at home?
• 15:04
Speaker 1: Called out Pooh very loudly? No, said a voice, and
• 15:08
Speaker 1: then added, you didn't shout so loud. I had you
• 15:11
Speaker 1: quite well the first time. Bother said, Pooh? Is there
• 15:15
Speaker 1: anybody who at all? Nobody? Winnie the Pooh took his
• 15:19
Speaker 1: head out of the hole and thought for a little,
• 15:22
Speaker 1: and he thought himself, who must be somebody there? Because
• 15:26
Speaker 1: somebody must have said nobody. So he put his head
• 15:31
Speaker 1: back in the hole and said, hello, rabbit. Isn't that you? No,
• 15:36
Speaker 1: said rabbit, in a different sort of voice this time.
• 15:39
Speaker 1: But isn't that rabbit's voice? I don't think so, said rabbits?
• 15:43
Speaker 1: And is it better be who? Said Pooh? He took
• 15:48
Speaker 1: his head out of the hole and had another think,
• 15:50
Speaker 1: and then he put it back and said, well, cut
• 15:53
Speaker 1: a very kindly, tell me where rabbit is.
• 15:57
Speaker 3: He's gone to see his right Pooh bear, great.
• 16:00
Speaker 1: Friendly face, But this is me, said bear, very much surprised.
• 16:05
Speaker 1: What sort of me, Pooh Bear?
• 16:09
  Speaker 3: Are you sure?
• 16:11
Speaker 1: Said rabbit, still more surprised. Quite quite sure, said pooh Oh. Hell.
• 16:17
Speaker 1: Then come in. So Pooh pushed and pushed and fussed
• 16:23
Speaker 1: his way through the hole, and at last he got in.
• 16:26
Speaker 1: I mean, you were quite right, so I was looking
• 16:29
Speaker 1: at him all over. It is you glad to see you?
• 16:33
Speaker 1: Who did you think it was? Well, I wasn't sure.
• 16:37
Speaker 1: You know how it is in the forest. One can't
• 16:39
Speaker 1: have anybody coming into one's house. One has to be careful.
• 16:44
Speaker 1: What about a mouthful of something? Pooh always liked a
• 16:46
Speaker 1: little something at eleven o'clock in the morning, and he
• 16:49
Speaker 1: was very glad to see Rabbit getting out the plates
• 16:51
Speaker 1: and mugs. And when Rabbit said, honey or condence milk
• 16:54
Speaker 1: with your bread, he was so excited that he said, booth.
• 16:58
Speaker 1: And then so it's not to seeing greedy, he added,
• 17:01
Speaker 1: but don't bother about the bread, please, And for a
• 17:04
Speaker 1: long time after that he said nothing, until at last,
• 17:07
Speaker 1: humming to himself in a rather sticky voice, he got up,
• 17:11
Speaker 1: shook rabbit lovingly by the poor and said that he
• 17:13
Speaker 1: must be going on? Must you, said rabbit? Politely? We will,
• 17:19
Speaker 1: said Pooh. I could stay a little longer, if it's
• 17:24
Speaker 1: if you, And he tried very hard to look in
• 17:27
Speaker 1: the direction of the larder. As a matter of fact,
• 17:31
Speaker 1: said Rabbit, I was going out myself directly. Oh, well
• 17:35
Speaker 1: then I'll be going on. Goodbye, well, goodbye, if you're
• 17:41
Speaker 1: sure you had he any more? He's still anymore, asked Pooh. Quickly.
• 17:45
Speaker 1: Rabbit took the covers off the dishes and said, no,
• 17:49
Speaker 1: there wasn't I thought not, said Pooh, nodding to himself. Well, goodbye,
• 17:56
Speaker 1: I must be going on. So he started to climb
• 17:58
Speaker 1: out of the hole. He pulled with his front paws
• 18:01
Speaker 1: and pushed with his back paws, and then a little
• 18:04
Speaker 1: while his nose was out in the open again, and
• 18:06
Speaker 1: then his ears, and then his front paws, and then
• 18:11
Speaker 1: his shoulders, and then, oh, help, said Pooh. I'd better
• 18:18
Speaker 1: go back. Oh bother, said Pooh. I shall have to
• 18:22
Speaker 1: go on. I can't do either, said Pooh, Oh help
• 18:29
Speaker 1: and bother. Now by this time Rabbit wanted to go
• 18:33
Speaker 1: for a walk too, and, finding the front door full,
• 18:36
Speaker 1: he went out by the back door and came round
• 18:39
Speaker 1: to Pooh and looked at him. Hello, are you stuck?
• 18:43
Speaker 1: He asked, No, said Pooh, carelessly, just resting and thinking
• 18:49
Speaker 1: and humming to myself. Here, give us a paw. Pooh
• 18:54
Speaker 1: bear stretched out a paw, and Rabbit pulled and told
• 18:58
Speaker 1: and hold oh, cried Pooh. You're hurting. The fact is,
• 19:05
Speaker 1: said Rabbit, you're stuck. It all comes, said Pooh crossly,
• 19:10
Speaker 1: with not having front doors big enough. It all comes,
• 19:14
Speaker 1: said Rabbit, sternly, of eating to a match. I thought
• 19:17
Speaker 1: at a time, said Rabbit. Only I didn't like to
• 19:20
Speaker 1: say anything, said rabbits. That one of us was eating
• 19:23
Speaker 1: too much, said Rabbit, and I knew it wasn't me.
• 19:26
Speaker 1: He said, very well, I do, then, fetch Christopher Robin.
• 19:31
Speaker 1: Christopher Robin lived at the other end of the forest,
• 19:34
Speaker 1: and when he came back with rabbits and saw the
• 19:36
Speaker 1: front half of Pooh, he said, silly old Bear in
• 19:39
Speaker 1: such a loving voice that everybody felt quite hopeful. Again.
• 19:43
Speaker 1: I was just beginning to think, said bear, sniffing slightly,
• 19:49
Speaker 1: that Rabbit might never be able to use his front
• 19:52
Speaker 1: door again. And I should hate that, He said, so
• 19:56
Speaker 1: should I said, Rabbit. Here is this front door again,
• 20:00
Speaker 1: said Christopher Robin. Of course he'll use his front door again, God,
• 20:04
Speaker 1: said Rabbit. If he can't pull you out, Pooh, we
• 20:07
Speaker 1: might push you back. Rabbit scratched his whiskers thoughtfully and
• 20:11
Speaker 1: pointed out to this. When once Pooh was pushed back,
• 20:14
Speaker 1: he was back, and of course nobody was more glad
• 20:17
Speaker 1: to see Poo than he was still there. It was
• 20:20
Speaker 1: some lived in trees and some lived underground. And you
• 20:24
Speaker 1: mean I'd never get out, said Pooh. I mean, said Rabbit,
• 20:29
Speaker 1: that heavy got so far it seems to pity to
• 20:32
Speaker 1: waste it. Christopher Robin nodded. And there's only one thing
• 20:36
Speaker 1: to be done, he said, which I'll have to wait
• 20:38
Speaker 1: for you to get thin again. How long does getting
• 20:42
Speaker 1: thin take, asked Pooh anxiously, About a week, I should think,
• 20:46
Speaker 1: But I can't stay here for a week. You can
• 20:50
Speaker 1: stay here all right till the old bear is getting
• 20:52
Speaker 1: you out, which is so difficult. Well meet you, said
• 20:55
Speaker 1: Rabbit cheerfully. And I hope it went snow, he added,
• 20:58
Speaker 1: And I sail. You take up a good deal of
• 21:01
Speaker 1: room in my house. Do you mind if I use
• 21:04
Speaker 1: your beckleggs as a towel horse, because I mean there
• 21:07
Speaker 1: they are doing nothing, and it would be very convenient
• 21:10
Speaker 1: just to hang the towels on them a week, said
• 21:14
Speaker 1: Pooh gloomily. What about meals? I'm afraid no meal, said
• 21:19
Speaker 1: Christopher Robin, because of getting thin quicker, But we will
• 21:22
Speaker 1: read to you. Bear began to sigh, and then found
• 21:27
Speaker 1: they couldn't because he was so tightly stuck, and the
• 21:30
Speaker 1: tear rolled down his eye as he said, then would
• 21:33
Speaker 1: you read a sustaining book such as would help and comfort?
• 21:38
Speaker 1: Or with bear and great tightness? So for a week
• 21:43
Speaker 1: Christopher Robin read that sort of book at the north
• 21:45
Speaker 1: end of Pooh, and Rabbit hung his washing on the
• 21:48
Speaker 1: south end, and in between Bear felt himself getting slenderer
• 21:52
Speaker 1: and slenderer. And at the end of the week, Christopher
• 21:55
Speaker 1: Robin said, now, so he took hold of Pooh's front paws,
• 22:00
Speaker 1: and Rabbit took hold of Christopher Robin, and all rabbits
• 22:02
Speaker 1: friends and relations took hold of Rabbit, and they all
• 22:05
Speaker 1: pulled together. And for a long time Pooh only said
• 22:08
Speaker 1: oh and ooh. And then all of a sudden, he said,
• 22:13
Speaker 1: just as if a cork were coming out of a bottle,
• 22:15
Speaker 1: And Christopher Robin and Rabbit and all rabbits friends and
• 22:18
Speaker 1: relations went head over heels backwards, and on the top
• 22:21
Speaker 1: of them came Winnie the Pooh free. So with a
• 22:26
Speaker 1: nod of thanks to his friends, he went on with
• 22:28
Speaker 1: his walk through the forest, humming proudly to himself. But
• 22:32
Speaker 1: Christopher Robin looked after him lovingly and said to himself, silly,
• 22:36
Speaker 1: old bear. End of chapter two, Chapter three, in which
• 22:43
Speaker 1: Pooh and Piglets go hunting and nearly catch a woozle.
• 22:49
Speaker 1: The piglet lived in a very grand house in the
• 22:51
Speaker 1: middle of a beech tree, and the beech tree was
• 22:54
Speaker 1: in the middle of the forest, and the piglets lived
• 22:56
Speaker 1: in the middle of the house. Next to his house
• 22:59
Speaker 1: was a piece of broken board which had trespassers were
• 23:02
Speaker 1: on it. When Christopher Robin asked the piglet what it meant,
• 23:05
Speaker 1: he said it was his grandfather's name and had been
• 23:07
Speaker 1: in the family for a long time. Christopher Robbins said,
• 23:10
Speaker 1: you couldn't be called trespassers were, and Pigler said, yes,
• 23:13
Speaker 1: you could, because his grandfather was. And it was short
• 23:16
Speaker 1: for Trespaser's will, which was short for trespassers William, and
• 23:19
Speaker 1: his grandfather had had two names in case he lost one,
• 23:22
Speaker 1: Trespassers after an uncle and William after trespassers. I've got
• 23:27
Speaker 1: two names, said Christopher Robbin carelessly.
• 23:29
Speaker 3: Oh there you are.
• 23:30
Speaker 1: That proves it, said Piglet. One fine winter's day, when
• 23:34
Speaker 1: Piglet was brushing away the snow in front of his house.
• 23:37
Speaker 1: He happened to look up, and there was Winnie the Pooh.
• 23:40
Speaker 1: Pooh was walking round and round in a circle, thinking
• 23:42
Speaker 1: of something else that when Piglet called to him, he
• 23:45
Speaker 1: just went on walking. Hello, said Piglet, What are you doing? Hunting?
• 23:51
  Speaker 1: Said Pooh?
• 23:53
  Speaker 3: Hunting what?
• 23:54
Speaker 1: Tracking something? Said Winnie the Pooh, very mysteriously tracking what,
• 24:00
Speaker 1: said Piglet? Coming closer? That's just what I asked myself.
• 24:05
Speaker 1: I ask myself, what.
• 24:07
Speaker 3: What do you think? Your answer?
• 24:10
Speaker 1: I shall have to wait until I catch up with it,
• 24:12
Speaker 1: said Winnie the Pooh. Now look there, He pointed to
• 24:15
Speaker 1: the ground in front of him. What do you see there? Tracks,
• 24:19
Speaker 1: said Piglet. Paw box hoo, you go a little squeak
• 24:23
  Speaker 1: of excitement.
• 24:23
Speaker 3: Oh, Pooh, do you think it's oo?
• 24:27
Speaker 1: So it may be, said Pooh. Sometimes it is and
• 24:33
Speaker 1: sometimes it isn't. You never become told with poor marks.
• 24:37
Speaker 1: With these few words, he went on tracking a piglet.
• 24:40
Speaker 1: After watching him for a minute or two, ran after him.
• 24:44
Speaker 1: When he the Poe had come to a sudden stop
• 24:46
Speaker 1: and was bending over the tracks in a puzzled sort
• 24:48
Speaker 1: of way. What's the matter, asked Piglet. It's a very
• 24:54
Speaker 1: funny thing, said beer, But there seemed to be two animals.
• 24:59
Speaker 1: Now this whatever it was, has been joined by another
• 25:04
Speaker 1: whatever it is, and the two of them are now
• 25:07
Speaker 1: proceeding in company. Would you mind coming with me, Piglet,
• 25:11
Speaker 1: in case they turned out to be hostile animals? Piglet
• 25:16
Speaker 1: scratched his ear in a nice sort of way and
• 25:18
Speaker 1: said that he had nothing to do until Friday, and
• 25:20
Speaker 1: would be delighted to come in case it really was
• 25:23
Speaker 1: a woozle. You mean, in case it really is two woozles,
• 25:27
Speaker 1: said Winnie the Pooh, and Piglet said that anyhow, he
• 25:30
Speaker 1: had nothing to do until Friday, so off they went together.
• 25:34
Speaker 1: There was a small spinny of larch trees just here,
• 25:37
Speaker 1: and it seemed as if the two woozles, if that
• 25:40
Speaker 1: is what they were, had been going round this spinny.
• 25:43
Speaker 1: So round this spinny went Pooh and Piglet after them,
• 25:46
Speaker 1: Piglet passing the time by telling Pooh what his grandfather
• 25:49
Speaker 1: trespassers were had done to remove stiffness after tracking, and
• 25:53
Speaker 1: how his grandfather trespassers were had suffered in his later
• 25:56
Speaker 1: years from shortness of breath, and Pooh wondering what grandfather
• 26:00
Speaker 1: was like and if perhaps this was two grandfathers they
• 26:03
Speaker 1: were after now, and if so, whether he would be
• 26:05
Speaker 1: allowed to take one home and keep it, and what
• 26:07
Speaker 1: Christopher Robin would say had still the tracks went on
• 26:11
Speaker 1: in front of them. Suddenly, Woodie the Pooh stopped and
• 26:14
Speaker 1: pointed excitedly in front of him. Look what, said Piglett,
• 26:18
Speaker 1: with a jump, And then to show that he hadn't
• 26:20
Speaker 1: been frightened, he jumped up and down once or twice
• 26:23
Speaker 1: more in an exercising sort of way. The tracks, said Pooh.
• 26:28
Speaker 1: A third animal has joined the other two, Pooh cried Piglet.
• 26:34
Speaker 3: Do you think it's another woozal?
• 26:37
Speaker 1: No, said Pooh, because it makes different marks. It's either
• 26:41
Speaker 1: two woozles and one as it might be wizzle, or
• 26:46
Speaker 1: two as it might be whizzles and one, if so
• 26:48
Speaker 1: be tears woozle that has continued to follow them. So
• 26:53
Speaker 1: they went on, feeling just a little anxious now in
• 26:56
Speaker 1: case the three animals in front of them were of
• 26:58
Speaker 1: hostile intent. And Piglet wished very much that his grandfather
• 27:02
Speaker 1: Tea were were there instead of elsewhere, And Pooh thought
• 27:05
Speaker 1: how nice would be if they met Christoph Robin. Suddenly,
• 27:07
Speaker 1: but quite accidentally, and only because he liked Christopher Robbins
• 27:11
Speaker 1: so much. And then all of a sudden, Winnie the
• 27:15
Speaker 1: Pooh stopped again and licked the tip of his nose
• 27:17
Speaker 1: in a cooling manner, who was feeling more hot and
• 27:20
Speaker 1: anxious than ever in his life before. There were four
• 27:26
Speaker 1: animals in front of them to see Piglet look at
• 27:30
Speaker 1: their tracks, three as it were rousals, and one as
• 27:34
Speaker 1: it was whizzle. Another rouzal has joined them, and so
• 27:39
Speaker 1: it seemed to be. There were the tracks crossing over
• 27:42
Speaker 1: each other here, getting muddled up with each other there,
• 27:45
Speaker 1: but quite plainly every now and then, the tracks of
• 27:48
Speaker 1: four sets of paws.
• 27:51
Speaker 3: Ha ha, I think.
• 27:53
Speaker 1: Said Piglet, when he licked the tip of his nose too,
• 27:55
Speaker 1: and found that he brought very little comfort.
• 27:58
  Speaker 3: I think that I've just a something.
• 28:01
Speaker 4: I just remembered something that I forgot to do yesterday
• 28:03
Speaker 4: and shan't be able to do it tomorrow.
• 28:05
Speaker 3: So I suppose I really ought to go back and
• 28:07
  Speaker 3: do it now.
• 28:09
Speaker 1: We'll do it this afternoon, and I'll come with you,
• 28:11
  Speaker 1: said Pooh.
• 28:12
Speaker 4: It isn't the sort of thing he could do in
• 28:14
Speaker 4: the afternoon, said Piglet quickly. It's a very particular morning
• 28:16
Speaker 4: thing that has to be done in the morning, and
• 28:18
Speaker 4: if possible, between the hours of what would you say.
• 28:22
Speaker 1: At the time was about twelve, said Winnie the Pooh,
• 28:26
Speaker 1: looking at the sun.
• 28:27
Speaker 4: Between that, I was saying the hours of twelve and
• 28:29
Speaker 4: twelve five. So really, dear old Pool, if you look,
• 28:32
  Speaker 4: here's me.
• 28:34
  Speaker 3: What's that?
• 28:35
Speaker 1: Pool looked up at the sky, and then as he
• 28:38
Speaker 1: heard the whistle again, he looked up into the branches
• 28:41
Speaker 1: of a big oak tree, and then he saw a
• 28:44
Speaker 1: friend of his. It's Christopher Robin. He said, huh, then
• 28:49
Speaker 1: you'll be all right, said Pigot. You'll be quite safe
• 28:51
Speaker 1: with him. Goodbye, and he trotted off home as quickly
• 28:55
Speaker 1: as he could, very glad to be out of all
• 28:57
Speaker 1: danger again. Christopher Robin came slowly down his tree. Silly,
• 29:02
Speaker 1: old bear, he said, what were you doing? First? You
• 29:05
Speaker 1: went round the spinney twice by yourself, and they peel
• 29:08
Speaker 1: it round after you, and you went round again together.
• 29:10
Speaker 1: I think you were just going round the fourth time.
• 29:13
Speaker 1: Wait a moment, said Winnie the Pooh, holding up his paw.
• 29:17
Speaker 1: He sat down and thought in the most thoughtful way
• 29:20
Speaker 1: he could think. Then he fitted his paw into one
• 29:24
Speaker 1: of the tracks, and then he scratched his nose twice
• 29:27
Speaker 1: and stood up. Yes, said Winnie the Pooh. I see now,
• 29:33
Speaker 1: said Winnie the Pooh. I have been foolish and deluded,
• 29:38
Speaker 1: said he, And I'm a bare of no brain at all.
• 29:42
Speaker 1: You're the best bear in all the world, said Christer
• 29:46
Speaker 1: Robin soothingly. Am I said Pooh hopefully, And then he
• 29:51
Speaker 1: brightened up suddenly. Anyhow, he said, it's nearly luncheon time,
• 29:58
Speaker 1: so he went home for it. End of chapter three,
• 30:03
Speaker 1: Chapter four, in which Eyoor loses a tail and Pooh
• 30:08
Speaker 1: finds one. The old gray donkey Eore stood by himself
• 30:12
Speaker 1: in a thistly corner of the forest, his front feet
• 30:15
Speaker 1: well apart, his head on one side, and thought about things.
• 30:21
Speaker 1: Sometimes he thought sadly to himself why, and sometimes he
• 30:26
Speaker 1: thought wherefore? And sometimes he thought inasmuch as weech, And
• 30:34
Speaker 1: sometimes he didn't quite know what he was thinking about.
• 30:37
Speaker 1: So when Winnie the Pooh came stumping along, Eore was
• 30:40
Speaker 1: very glad to be able to stop thinking for a
• 30:42
Speaker 1: while in order to say how do you do? In
• 30:45
Speaker 1: a gloomy manner to him? And how are you? Said
• 30:49
Speaker 1: Winnie the Poo, Eore shook his head from side to side,
• 30:53
Speaker 1: not very how, he said, I don't seem to have
• 30:56
Speaker 1: felt at all how for a long time, Dear dear,
• 31:01
Speaker 1: said pooh, I'm sorry about that. Let's have a look
• 31:04
Speaker 1: at you. So Eol stood there gazing sadly at the ground,
• 31:09
Speaker 1: and Winnie the Pooh walked all round him once. Why
• 31:12
Speaker 1: what's happened to your tail? He said, in surprise. What
• 31:17
Speaker 1: has happened to it? Said he orl It isn't there?
• 31:22
Speaker 1: Are you sure? Well? Either a tail is there or
• 31:26
Speaker 1: it isn't there. You can't make a mistake about it,
• 31:28
Speaker 1: And yours isn't there? Then what is nothing? Let's have
• 31:35
Speaker 1: a look, said Eol, and he turned slowly round to
• 31:38
Speaker 1: the place where his tail had been a little while ago,
• 31:41
Speaker 1: and then, finding that he couldn't catch it up, he
• 31:43
Speaker 1: turned round the other way, and so he came back
• 31:45
Speaker 1: to a way he was at first, And then he
• 31:47
Speaker 1: put his head down and looked between his front legs,
• 31:50
Speaker 1: and at last he said, with a long, sad sigh,
• 31:55
Speaker 1: I believe you're right. Of course I'm right, said peer.
• 32:01
Speaker 1: How accounts for a good deal, said he or gloomily.
• 32:05
Speaker 1: It explains everything. No wonder. He must have left it somewhere,
• 32:11
Speaker 1: said Winnie the Pooh. Somebody must have taken it, said eorl.
• 32:16
Speaker 1: How like them, he added. After a long silence, Pooh
• 32:20
Speaker 1: felt that he ought to say something helpful about it,
• 32:23
Speaker 1: but didn't quite know what, so he decided to do
• 32:27
Speaker 1: something helpful instead. He uw, he said, solemnly. Hi, Winnie
• 32:33
Speaker 1: the Pooh will find your tail for you. Thank you,
• 32:37
Speaker 1: Pooh answered, eyol, You're a real friend, said he, Not
• 32:43
Speaker 1: like some, he said, so Winnie the Pooh went off
• 32:47
Speaker 1: to find Eore's tail. There was a fine spring morning
• 32:51
Speaker 1: in the forest. As he started out, little soft clouds
• 32:54
Speaker 1: played happily in a blue sky, skipping from time to
• 32:56
Speaker 1: time in front of the sun as if they come
• 32:58
Speaker 1: to put it out, sliding away suddenly so that the
• 33:01
Speaker 1: next might have his turn through them and between them.
• 33:05
Speaker 1: The sun shone bravely, and the cops, which had worn
• 33:08
Speaker 1: its furs all the year round, seemed old and dowdy
• 33:11
Speaker 1: now beside the new green lace which the beaches had
• 33:13
Speaker 1: put on so prettily. Through Cops and Spinny marched bare
• 33:17
Speaker 1: down open slopes of gauze and heather over rocky beds
• 33:20
Speaker 1: of streams, up steep banks of sandstone, into the heather again,
• 33:24
Speaker 1: and so at last, tired and hungry, to the hundred
• 33:27
Speaker 1: acre wood. For it was in the hundred acre wood
• 33:30
Speaker 1: that Owl lived. And if anyone knows anything about anything,
• 33:35
Speaker 1: said bear to himself, it's Owl who knows something about something.
• 33:39
Speaker 1: He said, Oh, my name's not Winny the Pooh, he said,
• 33:44
Speaker 1: which it is, he added, So there you are. Owl
• 33:48
Speaker 1: lived at the Chestnuts, an old world residence of great charm,
• 33:52
Speaker 1: which was grander than anybody else's, or seems so to bear,
• 33:55
Speaker 1: because it had both a knocker and a bell pull.
• 33:59
Speaker 1: Underneath the knocker there was a notice which said, pleas
• 34:03
Speaker 1: ring if n runser is required. Underneath the bell pull
• 34:08
Speaker 1: there was a notice which said, pleas knoake if an
• 34:11
Speaker 1: runser is not requid. These notices had been written by
• 34:15
Speaker 1: Christopher Robin, who was the only one in the forest
• 34:17
Speaker 1: who could spell for Owl. Wise, though he was in
• 34:20
Speaker 1: many ways able to read and write and spell his
• 34:22
Speaker 1: own name w O. L, yet somehow went all to
• 34:27
Speaker 1: pieces over delicate words like measles and buttered toasts. Winnie
• 34:32
Speaker 1: the Pooh read the two notices very carefully, first from
• 34:35
Speaker 1: left to right, and afterwards, in case he'd missed some
• 34:38
Speaker 1: of it from right to left. Then, to make quite sure,
• 34:42
Speaker 1: he knocked and pulled the knocker, and he pulled and
• 34:45
Speaker 1: knocked the bell rope, and he called down to the
• 34:47
Speaker 1: very loud voice, Oh, I require an answer, it's bare speaking.
• 34:54
Speaker 1: And the door opened, and Owl looked out. Hello Pool,
• 34:58
Speaker 1: he said, whole sing terrible and sad, said Pooh, because
• 35:03
Speaker 1: e Or, who is a friend of mine, has lost
• 35:06
Speaker 1: his tail and he's moping about it. So could you
• 35:10
Speaker 1: very kindly tell me how to find it for him? Well,
• 35:14
Speaker 1: said Al. The custom be proceded in such cases is
• 35:17
Speaker 1: as follows. What does customony precede cake mean, said Pooh?
• 35:24
Speaker 1: For I am a bare of very little brain, and
• 35:26
Speaker 1: long words bother me. It means the thing to do,
• 35:31
Speaker 1: as long as it means that I don't mind, said
• 35:34
Speaker 1: Pooh humbly. The thing to do is as follows. First
• 35:39
Speaker 1: issue a reward, Then just a moment, said Pooh, holding
• 35:43
Speaker 1: up his paw. What do we do to this? What
• 35:47
Speaker 1: you were saying? You sneeze, just as you were going
• 35:49
Speaker 1: to tell me. I didn't sneeze, Yes you did, Al,
• 35:54
Speaker 1: excuse me, Pooh, I didn't. You can't sneeze without navigat. Well,
• 35:59
Speaker 1: you can't worried without something having been sneezed. What I
• 36:03
Speaker 1: said was the first issue a reward. Who are doing
• 36:07
Speaker 1: it again, said Pooh, sadly. Ain't reward, said Al, very loudly.
• 36:13
Speaker 1: We write a notice to say that we will give
• 36:15
Speaker 1: a large something to anybody who finds yours tail. I see,
• 36:21
Speaker 1: I see, said Pooh, nodding his head. Talking about large somethings,
• 36:27
Speaker 1: He went on dreamily, I generally have a small something
• 36:31
Speaker 1: about now, about this time in the morning, and he
• 36:35
Speaker 1: looked wistfully at the cupboard in the corner of Owl's parlor.
• 36:39
Speaker 1: Just a mouthful of condensed milk or what not, perhaps
• 36:44
Speaker 1: a link of honey will Then said Al. We write
• 36:49
Speaker 1: out this notice and we put it up all over
• 36:52
Speaker 1: the forest. Huh link of honey, murmured Bert to himself,
• 36:57
Speaker 1: or or not, as the case may be. Who And
• 37:04
Speaker 1: he gave a deep sigh and tried very hard to
• 37:06
Speaker 1: listen to what Al was saying. But Al went on
• 37:10
Speaker 1: and on, using longer and longer words, until at last
• 37:13
Speaker 1: he came back to where he started and explained that
• 37:15
Speaker 1: the person to write out this notice was Christopher Robin
• 37:19
Speaker 1: it was he who wrote the ones in my floot
• 37:21
Speaker 1: door for me. Did you see them?
• 37:23
  Speaker 3: Paul?
• 37:24
Speaker 1: For some time now Pooh had been saying yes and
• 37:27
Speaker 1: no in turn, with his eyes shut to all that
• 37:30
Speaker 1: Al was saying, and having said yes yes last time,
• 37:34
Speaker 1: he said no, not at all now, without really knowing
• 37:37
Speaker 1: what Al was talking about. Didn't you see them? Said Al,
• 37:41
Speaker 1: a little surprised. Come and look at them now? So
• 37:45
Speaker 1: they went outside, and Pooh looked at the knocker and
• 37:48
Speaker 1: the notice below it, and he looked at the bell
• 37:51
Speaker 1: rope and the notice below it. And the more he
• 37:53
Speaker 1: looked at the bell rope, the more he felt that
• 37:56
Speaker 1: he'd seen something like it somewhere else some time before.
• 38:02
Speaker 1: Handsome bilbb, isn't it? Said awl? Pooh nodded. It reminds
• 38:07
Speaker 1: me of something, he said, But I can't think what
• 38:13
Speaker 1: where did you get it? I just came across it
• 38:16
Speaker 1: in the forest. It was hanging over a bush, and
• 38:18
Speaker 1: I thought at first somebody lived there, so I rang
• 38:21
Speaker 1: it and nothing happened, and then I rang it again,
• 38:24
Speaker 1: very loudly, and it came off in my hand. Then,
• 38:26
Speaker 1: as nobody seemed to want it, I took it home,
• 38:29
Speaker 1: and Oh said, Pooh solemnly, who made a mistake? Somebody
• 38:34
Speaker 1: did want it? Ooh, eel, my dear friend, ewel he was.
• 38:42
Speaker 1: He was fond of it, fond of it, attached to it,
• 38:47
Speaker 1: said Winnie the Pooh sadly. So with these words, he
• 38:50
Speaker 1: unhooked it and carried it back to Eore. And when
• 38:53
Speaker 1: Christopher Robin had nailed it on in its right place again,
• 38:56
Speaker 1: Eol frisked about the forest, waving his tail so happily
• 39:00
Speaker 1: for Winnie the Poo came over all funny and had
• 39:02
Speaker 1: to hurry home for a little snack of something to
• 39:04
Speaker 1: sustain him, and wiping his mouth. Half an hour afterwards,
• 39:08
Speaker 1: he sang to himself proudly, who found the tail? I said,
• 39:13
Speaker 1: Pooh at a quarter to two, Only it was a
• 39:17
Speaker 1: quarter to eleven. Really, I found the tail end of
• 39:23
Speaker 1: chapter four, Chapter five, in which Piglet meets a heifer lump.
• 39:31
Speaker 1: One day, when Christopher Robin and Winnie the Pooh and
• 39:33
Speaker 1: Piglet were all talking together, Christopher Robin finished the mouthful
• 39:37
Speaker 1: he was eating and said, carelessly, I saw a heffer
• 39:40
Speaker 1: lump to day, Piglet. What was he doing, asked Piglet,
• 39:45
Speaker 1: Just blumping along, said Christopher Robin. I don't think it
• 39:47
Speaker 1: saw me. I saw one once, said Piglet. He least
• 39:51
Speaker 1: I think I did, he said, Helly, perhaps it wasn't,
• 39:56
Speaker 1: so did, I said Pooh, wondering what a heflung was?
• 39:59
Speaker 1: I like? You don't often see them, said Christopher Robin carelessly.
• 40:03
Speaker 1: Not now, said Piglet, Not at this time, of you,
• 40:07
Speaker 1: said Pooh. Then they all talked about something else until
• 40:10
Speaker 1: it was time for Pooh and Piglet to go home together.
• 40:12
Speaker 1: At first, as they stumped along the path which edged
• 40:15
Speaker 1: the hundred Acre Wood, they didn't say much to each other.
• 40:18
Speaker 1: But when they came to the stream and had helped
• 40:20
Speaker 1: each other across the stepping stones, they were able to
• 40:22
Speaker 1: walk side by side again over the heather, they began
• 40:25
Speaker 1: to talk in a friendly way about this and that,
• 40:27
Speaker 1: and Piglet said, if you see what I mean, Pooh,
• 40:30
Speaker 1: And Pooh said, who's just what I think myself Piglet.
• 40:34
Speaker 1: And Piglet said, but on the other hand, Poo, we
• 40:37
Speaker 1: must remember, and Peu said, quite true, Piglet, although I
• 40:41
Speaker 1: had forgotten it for the moment. And then, just as
• 40:44
Speaker 1: they came to the six pine trees, Pooh looked round
• 40:47
Speaker 1: to see that nobody else was listening, and said, in
• 40:49
Speaker 1: a very solemn voice, Piglet, I have decided something.
• 40:55
Speaker 3: But if you decided, Pooh.
• 40:58
Speaker 1: I have decided to catch a heaf lump. Poo nodded
• 41:02
Speaker 1: his head several times as he said this, and waiting
• 41:05
Speaker 1: for Piglet to say how, or Pooh, you couldn't, or
• 41:09
Speaker 1: something helpful of that sort, but Piglet said nothing. The
• 41:12
Speaker 1: fact was Piglet was wishing that he had thought about
• 41:15
Speaker 1: it first. I shall do it, said Pooh, after waiting
• 41:19
Speaker 1: a little longer, by means of a trap. And it
• 41:22
Speaker 1: must be a cunning trap. So you will have to
• 41:25
Speaker 1: help me, pickelet, Pooh said Piglet, feeling quite happy again.
• 41:29
Speaker 1: Now I will, And then he said how shall we
• 41:33
Speaker 1: do it? And Pooh said, hm, that's just it, Oh,
• 41:38
Speaker 1: And then they sat down together to think it out.
• 41:40
Speaker 1: Pooh's first idea was that they should dig a very
• 41:43
Speaker 1: deep pit, and then the heflung would come along and
• 41:45
Speaker 1: fall into the pit. And why, said Piglet, Why would
• 41:49
  Speaker 1: said Pooh?
• 41:50
Speaker 3: Why will you fall in?
• 41:53
Speaker 1: Pooh rubbed his nose at his poor and said that
• 41:55
Speaker 1: the heffulum might be walking along pubbing a little song
• 41:58
Speaker 1: and looking up at the sky wondering if it would rain,
• 42:00
Speaker 1: and so he wouldn't see the very deep pit until
• 42:02
Speaker 1: he was halfway down, when it would be too late.
• 42:05
Speaker 1: Piglett said that this was a very good trap, but
• 42:08
Speaker 1: supposing it were raining already, who rubbed his nose again
• 42:12
Speaker 1: and said that he hadn't thought of that, And then
• 42:14
Speaker 1: he brightened up and said that if it were raining already,
• 42:17
Speaker 1: the hefflarm would be looking at the sky wondering if
• 42:19
Speaker 1: it would clear up, and so he wouldn't see the
• 42:22
Speaker 1: very deep pit until he was halfway down, when it
• 42:24
Speaker 1: would be too late. Piglet said that now that this
• 42:28
Speaker 1: point had been explained, he thought it was a cunning trap.
• 42:33
Speaker 1: Pe was very proud when he heard this, and he
• 42:35
Speaker 1: felt that the Hefflop was as good as course already.
• 42:37
Speaker 1: But there was just one other thing which had to
• 42:39
Speaker 1: be thought about, and it was this, Where should they
• 42:43
Speaker 1: dig the very deep pit? Piglet said that the best
• 42:47
Speaker 1: place would be somewhere where a heflarmp was just before
• 42:50
Speaker 1: he fell into it, only about a foot farther on.
• 42:53
Speaker 1: But then he would see his digging it, said Poo, not.
• 42:56
Speaker 3: If he was looking at the sky.
• 42:59
Speaker 1: He would just begged, said Pooh. If he happened to
• 43:02
Speaker 1: look down. He thought for a long time, and then added, sadly,
• 43:07
  Speaker 1: this isn't easy as I thought. I suppose that's why
• 43:10
Speaker 1: her lumps hardly ever get caught. That must be it,
• 43:13
Speaker 1: said piglet. They sighed and got up, and when they'd
• 43:17
Speaker 1: taken a few gorse prickles out of themselves, they sat
• 43:20
Speaker 1: down again, And all the time, who was saying to himself,
• 43:23
Speaker 1: if why I could think of something? He felt sure
• 43:28
Speaker 1: that a very clever brain could catch a heaf lump,
• 43:31
Speaker 1: if only he knew the right way to go about it.
• 43:34
Speaker 1: Suppose he said to Piglet, you wanted to catch me,
• 43:39
Speaker 1: how would you do it? Well, said piglet.
• 43:43
Speaker 3: I should do it like this.
• 43:45
Speaker 4: I should make a trap, and I should put the
• 43:47
Speaker 4: jar of honey in the trap, and you would smell it,
• 43:49
Speaker 4: and you were coming after it, and.
• 43:51
Speaker 1: I would coming after it, said Pierre excitedly, only very
• 43:54
Speaker 1: carefully so as not to hurt myself, and I would
• 43:56
Speaker 1: get to the jar of honey, and I should lick
• 43:58
Speaker 1: around the edges first of all, pretending that wasn't anymore,
• 44:01
Speaker 1: you know, And he dousa walk away and think about
• 44:04
Speaker 1: it a little, and then I should come back and
• 44:07
Speaker 1: start looking in the middle of the jar, and then guess, well,
• 44:10
Speaker 1: never mind about that.
• 44:11
Speaker 3: There you would be, and there I should catch you.
• 44:14
  Speaker 1: Now.
• 44:14
Speaker 4: The first thing to think of is what do hefe
• 44:17
Speaker 4: lumps like? I should think acorns, shouldn't you? Well, gets
• 44:23
Speaker 4: a lot of I say Wake up, Pooh.
• 44:26
Speaker 1: Pooh, who had gone into a happy dream, woke up
• 44:29
Speaker 1: with a start and said that honey was a much
• 44:31
Speaker 1: more trappy thing than haycorns. Piglet didn't think, so they
• 44:35
Speaker 1: were just going to argue about it when Piglet remembered
• 44:37
Speaker 1: that if they put acorns in the trap, he would
• 44:41
Speaker 1: have to find the acorns, but if they put honey,
• 44:44
Speaker 1: then Poo would have to give up some of his
• 44:46
Speaker 1: own honey. So he said, all right, honey. Then just
• 44:51
Speaker 1: as peer remembered it too and was going to say,
• 44:53
Speaker 1: all right, haycorns, honey, said Piglet to himself in a
• 44:57
Speaker 1: thoughtful way, as everyone else settled.
• 45:00
Speaker 3: I'll dig the pit.
• 45:01
Speaker 1: Will you go and get the honey? Very well, said
• 45:05
Speaker 1: pa and he stumped off. As soon as he got home.
• 45:09
Speaker 1: He went at a ladder, and he stood on a
• 45:10
Speaker 1: chair and took down a very large jar of honey
• 45:13
  Speaker 1: from the top shelf. It had h U n n
• 45:16
Speaker 1: y written on it, but just to make sure, he
• 45:19
Speaker 1: took off the paper cover and looked at it, and
• 45:22
Speaker 1: it looked just like honey. But you never can tell,
• 45:27
Speaker 1: said poo. I remember my uncle saying once that he'd
• 45:30
Speaker 1: seen cheese just this color. So he put his tongue
• 45:34
Speaker 1: in and took a large lick. Yes, he said, it
• 45:40
Speaker 1: is no doubt about that. And honey, I should say,
• 45:45
Speaker 1: right down to the bottom of the jar, unless, of course,
• 45:49
Speaker 1: he said, somebody put cheese in at the bottom just
• 45:52
Speaker 1: for a joke. Perhaps I'd better go a little further,
• 45:57
Speaker 1: just in case. In case hevloms don't like cheese, same
• 46:01
Speaker 1: as me. And he gave a deep sigh. I was right.
• 46:11
Speaker 1: It is honey, right the way down. Having made certain
• 46:16
Speaker 1: of this, he took the jar back to Piglet. A
• 46:18
Speaker 1: Piglet looked up from the bottom of his very deep
• 46:21
Speaker 1: pit and said, that's it. And he said, yes, but
• 46:25
Speaker 1: it isn't quite a full jar, And he threw it
• 46:28
Speaker 1: down to Piglets and Piglet said, no.
• 46:31
Speaker 3: It isn't. Is that all you've got left?
• 46:33
Speaker 1: And he said yes, because it was so. Piglet put
• 46:38
Speaker 1: the jar at the bottom of the pit and climbed out,
• 46:40
Speaker 1: and they went off home together. Well, good night, Pooh,
• 46:44
Speaker 1: said Piglet, when they got the pool's house.
• 46:46
Speaker 3: And we meet at.
• 46:46
Speaker 4: Six o'clock tomorrow morning by the pine trees, and see
• 46:49
Speaker 4: how many heatherlumps we've got in our chap.
• 46:51
Speaker 1: Six o'clock, Piglet, And have you got any string? Now?
• 46:57
Speaker 1: Why do you want string to lead them home with? Oh?
• 47:01
Speaker 3: I think heav lumps come if you whistle hum.
• 47:05
Speaker 1: Some do and some don't. She never can tell with
• 47:08
Speaker 1: her lumps. Well, good night, good night, Adolf. Piet trotted
• 47:13
Speaker 1: to his house Trespasser's woo, while Pooh made his preparations
• 47:17
Speaker 1: for bed. Some hours later, just as the snipers beginning
• 47:21
Speaker 1: to steal away, Pooh woke up suddenly with a sinking feeling.
• 47:25
Speaker 1: He'd had that sinking feeling before, and he knew what
• 47:28
Speaker 1: it meant. He was hungry, so he went to the larder,
• 47:33
Speaker 1: and he stood on a chair and reached up to
• 47:34
Speaker 1: the top shelf and found nothing. That's funny, he thought,
• 47:41
  Speaker 1: I know I had a jar of honey there, a
• 47:44
Speaker 1: full jar full of honey, right, up to the top
• 47:47
  Speaker 1: and had h u n and wyridd nodded, so I
• 47:49
Speaker 1: should know it was honey. That's very funny. And then
• 47:54
Speaker 1: he began to wander up and down, wondering where it
• 47:57
Speaker 1: was and murmuring a murmur to himself like this, it's
• 48:01
Speaker 1: very very funny because I know I had some honey
• 48:05
Speaker 1: because it had a label long seeing h unnhy a
• 48:10
Speaker 1: glluptious fulla pot two. And I don't know where it's
• 48:14
Speaker 1: got to now, I don't know where it's gone. Well,
• 48:18
  Speaker 1: it's f you n why. He'd murdered this to himself
• 48:23
Speaker 1: three times in a singing sort of way, when suddenly
• 48:27
Speaker 1: he remembered he'd put it into the cunning trap to
• 48:31
Speaker 1: catch the heifer lump. Bother said, pooh, it all comes
• 48:36
Speaker 1: of trying to be kind to heffalumps. And he got
• 48:39
Speaker 1: back into bed, but he couldn't sleep. The more he
• 48:42
Speaker 1: tried to sleep, the more he couldn't. He tried counting sheep,
• 48:46
Speaker 1: which is sometimes a good way of getting to sleep,
• 48:48
Speaker 1: and as that was no good, he tried counting heffalumps,
• 48:50
Speaker 1: and that was worse because every hefferlump that he counted
• 48:54
Speaker 1: was making straight for a pot of Pooh's honey and
• 48:57
Speaker 1: eating it all for some. And he lay there miserably.
• 49:01
Speaker 1: But when the five hundred and eighty seventh he Flump
• 49:03
Speaker 1: was licking its jaws and saying to itself, a very
• 49:06
Speaker 1: good honeyness, I've done a worth toasted better, Pooh could
• 49:09
Speaker 1: bear it no longer. He jumped out of bed. He
• 49:12
Speaker 1: ran out of the house, and he ran straight to
• 49:14
Speaker 1: the six pine trees. The sun was still in bed,
• 49:17
Speaker 1: but there was a lightness in the sky over one
• 49:19
Speaker 1: hundred acre wood, which seemed to show that it was
• 49:21
Speaker 1: waking up and would soon be kicking off the clothes.
• 49:24
Speaker 1: In the half light, the pine trees looked cold and lonely,
• 49:27
Speaker 1: and the very deep pit seemed deeper than it was.
• 49:30
Speaker 1: And Pooh's jar of honey at the bottom was something mysterious,
• 49:34
Speaker 1: a shape and no more. But as he got nearer
• 49:37
Speaker 1: to it, his nose told him that it was indeed honey,
• 49:41
Speaker 1: and his tongue came out and began to polish up
• 49:43
Speaker 1: his mouth ready for it. Bulver, said Pooh. As he
• 49:48
Speaker 1: got his nose inside the jar, heihilump has been eating it.
• 49:53
Speaker 1: And then he thought a little and said, oh, no,
• 49:58
Speaker 1: I did I forgot. Indeed, he had eaten most of it,
• 50:02
Speaker 1: but there was a little left at the very bottom
• 50:05
Speaker 1: of the jar, and he pushed his head right in
• 50:09
Speaker 1: and began to lick bye and bye. Piglet woke up.
• 50:15
Speaker 1: As soon as he woke, he said to himself. Oh,
• 50:18
Speaker 1: then he said bravely, yes, and then still more bravely.
• 50:23
Speaker 1: Quite so, But he didn't feel very brave. For the
• 50:27
Speaker 1: word which was really jiggeting about in his brain was
• 50:31
Speaker 1: heifer lumps. What was a heferlump like? Was it fierce?
• 50:38
Speaker 1: Did it come when he whistled? And how did it come?
• 50:42
Speaker 1: Was it fond of pinks at all? If it was
• 50:45
Speaker 1: fond of pigs, didn't make any difference what sort of pig?
• 50:49
Speaker 1: Supposing it was fierce with pigs, wouldn't make any difference
• 50:53
Speaker 1: at the pig had a grandfather called Trespassus William. He
• 50:57
Speaker 1: didn't know the answer to any of these questions, and
• 50:59
Speaker 1: he was He went to see his first heaflump in
• 51:01
Speaker 1: about an hour from now. Of course, Pooh would be
• 51:04
Speaker 1: with him, and it was much more friendly with two.
• 51:06
Speaker 1: But suppose hefflumps were very fierce with pigs and bears,
• 51:12
Speaker 1: wouldn't it be better to pretend that he had a
• 51:14
Speaker 1: headache and couldn't go up to the six pine trees
• 51:16
Speaker 1: this morning. But then suppose it was a very fine
• 51:19
Speaker 1: day and there was no heaflump in the trap here,
• 51:22
Speaker 1: he would be in bed all the morning, simply wasting
• 51:24
Speaker 1: his time for nothing. What should he do? And then
• 51:30
Speaker 1: he had a clever idea. He would go up very
• 51:33
Speaker 1: quietly to the six pine trees, now, peep very cautiously
• 51:37
Speaker 1: into the trap, and see if there was a heffer
• 51:39
Speaker 1: lump there, and if there was, he would go back
• 51:42
Speaker 1: to bed, and if there wasn't, he wouldn't. So off
• 51:46
Speaker 1: he went. At first he thought that there wouldn't be
• 51:49
Speaker 1: a heflump in the trap, and then he thought that
• 51:51
Speaker 1: there would, And as he got nearer he was sure
• 51:54
Speaker 1: that there would, because they could hear it heffalumping about
• 51:56
  Speaker 1: it like anything.
• 51:58
Speaker 3: Oh dear, oh dear, dear, said.
• 52:00
Speaker 1: Piglet to himself. He wanted to run away, but somehow,
• 52:03
Speaker 1: having got so near, he felt that he must just
• 52:06
Speaker 1: see what a hef lump was like. So he crept
• 52:09
Speaker 1: to the side of the trap and looked in, and
• 52:14
Speaker 1: all the time Whinnie the pur hab been trying to
• 52:16
Speaker 1: get the honey jar off his head. The more he
• 52:18
Speaker 1: shook it, the more tightly it stuck bother he said,
• 52:21
Speaker 1: inside the jarud oohoop and mostly oh. And he tried
• 52:27
Speaker 1: bumping it against things, but as he couldn't see what
• 52:30
Speaker 1: he was bumping it against, it didn't help him. And
• 52:32
Speaker 1: he tried to climb out of the trap, but as
• 52:34
Speaker 1: he could see nothing but jar and not much of that,
• 52:36
Speaker 1: he couldn't find his way. So at last he lifted
• 52:39
Speaker 1: up his head, jar and all, and made a loud,
• 52:42
Speaker 1: roaring noise of sadness and despair. Oh and it was
• 52:52
Speaker 1: at that moment the piglet looked down. Have help, cried
• 52:58
Speaker 1: Piglet Heaven, and he scampered off as hard as he could,
• 53:03
  Speaker 1: still crying.
• 53:04
  Speaker 3: Out help help.
• 53:11
Speaker 1: And he didn't stop crying and scampering until he got
• 53:14
Speaker 1: to Christopher Robin's house. What's the matter, Piglet, said Christopher Robin,
• 53:19
Speaker 1: who was just getting up, Have, said Pigot, breathing so
• 53:22
Speaker 1: hard that he could hardly speak. He lump where there,
• 53:29
Speaker 1: said Pigot, waving his paw. What did it look like like?
• 53:34
Speaker 3: Like I have the biggest head you ever saw?
• 53:36
Speaker 1: Christopher Robbin's enormous thing like nothing, and the huge pig
• 53:44
  Speaker 1: like I don't know.
• 53:46
Speaker 3: Look look at enormous big nothing.
• 53:49
Speaker 1: Look at jar, well, said Christoph Robin, putting on his shoes.
• 53:54
Speaker 1: I shall go and look at it. Come on, Pigot
• 53:57
Speaker 1: wasn't afraid if he had Christopher Robbin with him, so
• 53:59
  Speaker 1: off they went.
• 54:01
Speaker 3: I can hear it, can't you, said.
• 54:03
Speaker 1: Pigolet anxiously as they got near. I could hear something,
• 54:07
Speaker 1: said Christopher Robin. It was Pooh bumping his head against
• 54:10
Speaker 1: tree roots he'd found, Saidglet, This is it awful, and
• 54:15
Speaker 1: he held on tight to Christopher Robin's hand. Suddenly Christopher
• 54:19
Speaker 1: Robin began to laugh, and he laughed, and he laughed
• 54:24
Speaker 1: and he laughed. And while he was still laughing, crash,
• 54:28
Speaker 1: when the heaven UM's head against the tree roots, smash
• 54:31
Speaker 1: went the jar, and out came Pooh's head again. Then
• 54:36
Speaker 1: Piglets saw what a foolish piglet he'd been, and he
• 54:39
Speaker 1: was so ashamed of himself that he ran straight off
• 54:42
Speaker 1: home and went to bed with a headache. But Christopher
• 54:45
Speaker 1: Robin and Pooh went home to breakfast together. Oh bear,
• 54:49
Speaker 1: said Christopher Robin, how I do love you so do,
• 54:53
Speaker 1: I said Pooh. End of chapter five, chapter six, in
• 55:02
Speaker 1: which Eore has a birthday and gets two presents. Ere
• 55:07
Speaker 1: the old gray donkey stood by the side of the
• 55:10
Speaker 1: stream and looked at himself in the water. Prophetic, he said,
• 55:16
Speaker 1: he it's Swartsoo's prothetic. He turned and walked slowly down
• 55:21
Speaker 1: the stream for twenty yards, splashed across it. I walked
• 55:24
Speaker 1: slowly back on the other side. Then he looked at
• 55:27
Speaker 1: himself in the water again. As I thought, he said,
• 55:32
Speaker 1: no better from this side. But nobody minds, nobody cares pathetic.
• 55:39
Speaker 1: That's Swart it is. There was a crackling noise in
• 55:42
Speaker 1: the bracken behind him. How about, came Pooh? Good morning,
• 55:46
Speaker 1: New York, said Pooh. Good morning. Pooh Bear, said Eol gloomily.
• 55:51
Speaker 1: If it is a good morning, he said, which I doubt,
• 55:56
Speaker 1: said he. Hi, what's the matter? No thing, Pooh Bear. Nothing.
• 56:02
Speaker 1: We can't tall, and some of us don't, and so
• 56:05
Speaker 1: all there is to it? Can't all? What said Pooh,
• 56:09
Speaker 1: rubbing his nose. Gaiety, song and dance. Here we go
• 56:13
Speaker 1: round the mulberry bush, Oh, said Pooh. He thought for
• 56:18
Speaker 1: a long time, and then asked what milberry bush. Is
• 56:22
Speaker 1: that bone on me? Went on e your gloomily French
• 56:27
Speaker 1: word meaning bon on me. He explained, I'm not complaining,
• 56:32
Speaker 1: but there it is. Who sat down on a large
• 56:36
Speaker 1: stone and tried to think this out. It sounded to
• 56:39
Speaker 1: him like a riddle. It was never much good riddles,
• 56:42
Speaker 1: being a bear with very little brain, so he sang
• 56:45
Speaker 1: Cottleston Pie instead Cottlestun Curttleston, Cottleston Pie. A fly can't bird,
• 56:53
Speaker 1: but a bird can fly. Ask me a riddle and
• 56:56
Speaker 1: I reply, Cardleston, Cottleston, Cottleston Pie. That was the first verse.
• 57:03
Speaker 1: When he finished it, or didn't actually say that, he
• 57:06
Speaker 1: didn't like it, so Pooh very kindly sang the second
• 57:09
Speaker 1: verse to him Cordleston, Cottleston, Cottleston Pie. A fish can't whistle,
• 57:15
Speaker 1: and neither can. I Ask me a riddle and I
• 57:19
Speaker 1: reply Cordleson, Cardleston, Cordleston Pie. Eyol still said nothing at all,
• 57:27
Speaker 1: so Pooh hums the third verse quietly to himself, Cordleston, Cordleston,
• 57:32
Speaker 1: Cuddleston pie. Why does a chicken? I don't know why?
• 57:38
Speaker 1: Ask me a riddle and die reply Cordleston, Cuttleston, Cottleston Pie.
• 57:45
Speaker 1: That's right, said he. Or sing empty tiddly humpty too.
• 57:50
Speaker 1: Here we go gathering nuts and may enjoy yourself, I am,
• 57:55
Speaker 1: said Pooh. Some can said he? Or what what's the matter?
• 58:01
Speaker 1: Is anything the matter? Who seems so sad? Are you all?
• 58:06
  Speaker 2: Said?
• 58:07
Speaker 1: Why don't I be? Said? It's my birthday, the happiest
• 58:12
Speaker 1: day of the year. Sure, birthday, said Pooh in great surprise.
• 58:18
Speaker 1: Of course it is. Can't you see? Look at all
• 58:21
Speaker 1: the presents I've had? He waved the foot from side
• 58:25
Speaker 1: to side, Look at the birthday cake, candles and pink sugar.
• 58:31
Speaker 1: Who looked third to the right and then to the left. Prisons,
• 58:35
Speaker 1: said Pooh. Birthday cake, said Pooh. Where can't you say them? No,
• 58:44
Speaker 1: said Pooh? And I over can? I said? Your joke?
• 58:48
Speaker 1: He explained, ha hah, who scratched his head, being a
• 58:53
Speaker 1: little puzzled by all this. But is it really your birthday?
• 58:58
Speaker 1: He asked? It is? Oh, well, many happy returns of
• 59:04
Speaker 1: the day, or and many happy returns to you, pooh bear,
• 59:09
Speaker 1: But it is my birthday? No, it's mine, But you
• 59:15
Speaker 1: said many happy returns? Well why not? He don't always
• 59:18
Speaker 1: want to be miserable on my birthday? Do you oh,
• 59:23
Speaker 1: I see, sir Pooh. It's bad enough, said El, almost
• 59:28
Speaker 1: breaking down, being miserable myself, what with no presents, no cake,
• 59:34
Speaker 1: and no candles and no proper notice taken of me
• 59:38
Speaker 1: at all. But if everybody else is going to be
• 59:41
Speaker 1: miserable too, this was too much for Pooh. Stay there,
• 59:45
Speaker 1: he called to we Or as he turned and hurried
• 59:47
Speaker 1: back home as quick as he could. We felt that
• 59:49
Speaker 1: he must get Poorie or a present of some source
• 59:53
Speaker 1: at once, and you could always think of a proper
• 59:55
Speaker 1: one afterwards. Outside his house, he found piglets jumping up
• 59:59
Speaker 1: and down trying to the knocker. Hello, Piglet, he said,
• 1:00:03
Speaker 1: Ha Pooh, said pigot. What are you trying to do?
• 1:00:07
Speaker 1: Have us trying to reach the knocker, said pigot, I
• 1:00:10
Speaker 1: just came round. Put me do it for you, said
• 1:00:12
Speaker 1: Pooh kindly. So he reached up and knocked at the door.
• 1:00:16
Speaker 1: I've just seen Eel, he began. And poor Eel is
• 1:00:20
Speaker 1: in a very sad condition because it's his birthday and
• 1:00:24
Speaker 1: nobody's taken any notes of it, and he's very gloomy,
• 1:00:27
Speaker 1: you know what tear is. And there he was, and
• 1:00:31
Speaker 1: what a long time? Whoever lives here is answering this door,
• 1:00:34
Speaker 1: and he knocks again. But Pooh said, Pigot, it's your
• 1:00:39
Speaker 1: own house. Oh, sir Poo, so it is. He said,
• 1:00:44
Speaker 1: well let's go in, so in they went. The first
• 1:00:48
Speaker 1: thing Poo did was to go to the cupboard to
• 1:00:50
Speaker 1: see if he had quite a small jar of honey left,
• 1:00:52
Speaker 1: and he had, so he took it down. I'm giving
• 1:00:56
Speaker 1: this to Eel, he explained, as a present. What are
• 1:00:59
Speaker 1: you going to give? Couldn't I give it too, said
• 1:01:02
Speaker 1: piglets from both of us, No, said Pooh, that would
• 1:01:06
Speaker 1: not be a good plan.
• 1:01:08
Speaker 3: All right, then I'll give him a balloon. I've got
• 1:01:12
Speaker 3: one left for my party. How do I get it?
• 1:01:14
Speaker 1: Now? Shall I? That, Piglet is a very good idea.
• 1:01:19
Speaker 1: It's just what you wants to cheer him up. Nobody
• 1:01:22
Speaker 1: could be uncheered with a balloon. So off Piglet trotted,
• 1:01:26
Speaker 1: and in the other direction went Pooh with his jar
• 1:01:29
Speaker 1: of honey. It was a warm day and he had
• 1:01:32
Speaker 1: a long way to go. He hadn't gone more than
• 1:01:34
Speaker 1: halfway when a sort of funny feeling began to creep
• 1:01:37
Speaker 1: all over him. He began that the tip of his
• 1:01:40
Speaker 1: nose and trickled all through him and out to the
• 1:01:43
Speaker 1: soles of his feet. It was just as if somebody
• 1:01:45
Speaker 1: inside him were saying, now, then, pooh, time for a
• 1:01:49
Speaker 1: little something to you. Dear, said pooh, I didn't know
• 1:01:54
Speaker 1: it was as late as that. So he sat down
• 1:01:57
Speaker 1: and took the top of his jar of honey. Brought
• 1:02:00
Speaker 1: this with me? He thought, only a bird going out
• 1:02:02
Speaker 1: to a warm day like this would never have thought
• 1:02:04
Speaker 1: of bringing a little something with him, and he began
• 1:02:07
Speaker 1: to eat. Oh, let me see, he thought, as he
• 1:02:13
Speaker 1: took his last lick of the inside of the jar,
• 1:02:16
Speaker 1: Where was I going? Ah? Yes, eow. He got up slowly,
• 1:02:22
Speaker 1: and then suddenly he remembered he'd eat Eel's birthday present.
• 1:02:30
Speaker 1: Bother said, pooh, what shall I do? I must give
• 1:02:34
Speaker 1: him something. For a little while, he couldn't think of anything.
• 1:02:38
Speaker 1: Then he thought, well, it's a very nice pot, even
• 1:02:43
Speaker 1: if there's no honey in it, And if I watched
• 1:02:46
Speaker 1: Cuan and got somebody to rise a happy birthday on it,
• 1:02:50
Speaker 1: he all could keep things in it which might be useful. So,
• 1:02:54
Speaker 1: as he was just passing one hundred acre wood, he
• 1:02:56
Speaker 1: went inside to call on Owl who lived there. Good
• 1:03:00
Speaker 1: He said, well, good morning, pool, said Al. Many happy
• 1:03:04
Speaker 1: returns of Ewel's birthday, said Pooh, Oh, is that what
• 1:03:08
Speaker 1: it is? What are you giving him out? What are
• 1:03:12
Speaker 1: you giving him? Pooh? I'm giving him a useful pot
• 1:03:16
Speaker 1: to keep things in. And I wanted to ask you.
• 1:03:19
Speaker 1: Is this it, said Al, taking it out of Pooh's paw. Yes,
• 1:03:24
Speaker 1: And I wanted to ask you. Somebody has been keeping
• 1:03:27
Speaker 1: honey in it, said Alf. You can keep anything in it,
• 1:03:30
Speaker 1: said Pooh, earnestly. It's very useful like that. And I
• 1:03:34
Speaker 1: wanted to ask you. You ought to write a happy
• 1:03:36
Speaker 1: birthday on it? That was what I wanted to ask you,
• 1:03:40
Speaker 1: said Pooh, because my spelling is wobbly. It's good spelling,
• 1:03:45
Speaker 1: but wobbles and the letters get in the wrong places.
• 1:03:49
Speaker 1: Would you write a happy birthday on it for me?
• 1:03:52
Speaker 1: It's a nice pot, said Al. The kids it's all around.
• 1:03:56
Speaker 1: Couldn't I give it two from both of us? No,
• 1:04:00
Speaker 1: said Pooh. There would not be a good plan. Now,
• 1:04:03
Speaker 1: I'll just what it first, and then you can write
• 1:04:05
Speaker 1: on it. Well. He washed the pot out and dried it,
• 1:04:09
Speaker 1: while Al at the end of his pencil and wondered
• 1:04:12
Speaker 1: how to spell birthday? Can you read? Paul? He asked
• 1:04:17
Speaker 1: a little anxiously noticed about knocking and ringing outside my door,
• 1:04:22
Speaker 1: which Christopher Robin wrote, Could you all read it? Christopher
• 1:04:27
Speaker 1: Robin told me what it said, and then I could
• 1:04:30
Speaker 1: well well ten you all this is, and then you'll
• 1:04:33
Speaker 1: be able to so l wrote, and this is what
• 1:04:38
  Speaker 1: he wrote. H I P y p A p y
• 1:04:47
  Speaker 1: b t h u t h d t h th
• 1:04:54
  Speaker 1: h u t h d A b t h u
• 1:04:58
  Speaker 1: t h d why Pooh looked on admiringly. I'm just
• 1:05:04
Speaker 1: singing happy birthday, said al carelessly. It's a nice long one,
• 1:05:10
Speaker 1: said Pooh, very much impressed by it. Who actually, of course,
• 1:05:13
Speaker 1: I'm saying a very heavy birthday with a love from Pooh. Naturally,
• 1:05:17
Speaker 1: it takes a good deal of pencil to say a
• 1:05:19
Speaker 1: long thing like that. Ooh, I see, said Pooh. While
• 1:05:24
Speaker 1: all this was happening, Piglet had gone back to his
• 1:05:26
Speaker 1: own house to get Eel's balloon. He held it very
• 1:05:29
Speaker 1: tightly against himself so that it shouldn't blur away, and
• 1:05:31
Speaker 1: he ran as fast as he could so as to
• 1:05:33
Speaker 1: get to Eel before Pooh did, For he thought that
• 1:05:35
Speaker 1: he would like to be the first one to give
• 1:05:36
Speaker 1: a present just as if he'd thought of it without
• 1:05:38
Speaker 1: being told by anybody, and running along and thinking how
• 1:05:41
Speaker 1: pleased the oil would be. He didn't look where he
• 1:05:43
Speaker 1: was going, and suddenly he put his foot in a
• 1:05:45
Speaker 1: rabbit hole and fell down flat on his face. Bine
• 1:05:48
Speaker 1: Piglet lay there wondered what had happened. At first he
• 1:05:51
Speaker 1: thought that the whole world had blown up, and then
• 1:05:54
Speaker 1: he thought that perhaps only the forest part of it
• 1:05:56
Speaker 1: had And then he thought that perhaps only he had
• 1:05:59
Speaker 1: and he was alone in the moon or somewhere. Have
• 1:06:02
Speaker 1: you never seen Christopher Robin or poo or eo again?
• 1:06:06
Speaker 4: And then he thought, well, even if I'm in the moon,
• 1:06:09
Speaker 4: I'd needly be faced downwards all the time.
• 1:06:12
Speaker 1: So he got cautiously up and looked about him. He
• 1:06:16
Speaker 1: was still in the forest. WHOA, that's funny, he thought.
• 1:06:22
Speaker 3: However, what that bang was?
• 1:06:24
Speaker 1: I couldn't have made such a noise just falling down.
• 1:06:27
Speaker 3: And where's my balloon? And what's that small piece of
• 1:06:31
  Speaker 3: dan Bragg doing?
• 1:06:33
Speaker 1: It? Was the balloon? Oh dear, oh, dear, oh, deary,
• 1:06:41
Speaker 1: deary dear oh. It's too late now I can't go back,
• 1:06:45
  Speaker 1: and I haven't another balloon. Perhaps he y'all doesn't like
• 1:06:50
Speaker 1: balloons so very much. So he trotted on rather sadly.
• 1:06:54
Speaker 1: Now and down. He came to the side of the
• 1:06:56
Speaker 1: stream where EO was and called out to him, borning
• 1:07:00
Speaker 1: you are, shouted piglets. Good morning, little piglet, said Eel.
• 1:07:05
Speaker 1: If it is a good morning, he said, we're sh
• 1:07:08
Speaker 1: I doubt, said he not that it matters. He said,
• 1:07:13
Speaker 1: Many happy returns of the day, said piglet, Having now
• 1:07:16
Speaker 1: got closer, He'll stopped looking at himself in the stream
• 1:07:20
Speaker 1: and turned to stare at piglet. Shall say that again,
• 1:07:25
Speaker 1: he said, Many happened. Wait a moment. Balancing on three legs,
• 1:07:30
Speaker 1: he began to bring his fourth leg very cautiously up
• 1:07:32
Speaker 1: to his ear. I did this yesterday, he explained, as
• 1:07:37
Speaker 1: he fell down for the third time. It's quite easy.
• 1:07:40
Speaker 1: It's so as I can hear better. There. That's done it. Now,
• 1:07:46
Speaker 1: then what were you saying? He pushed his ear forward
• 1:07:51
  Speaker 1: with his hoof.
• 1:07:52
Speaker 3: Maggie happy for turns of the day.
• 1:07:54
Speaker 1: Said Piglets again, meaning me have cost el my birthday, Yes,
• 1:08:03
Speaker 1: me having a real birthday.
• 1:08:06
Speaker 3: Yes, Eil, And I've brought you a present.
• 1:08:10
Speaker 1: Heil took down his right hood from his right ear,
• 1:08:12
Speaker 1: turned round and with great difficulty put up his left hoof.
• 1:08:17
Speaker 1: I must have that in the other ear, he said.
• 1:08:20
Speaker 1: Now then, how present, said Piglets, very loudly, meaning me again. Yes,
• 1:08:28
Speaker 1: my birthday still of course, here me going on having
• 1:08:33
  Speaker 1: a real birthday. Yes, l and I brought you a
• 1:08:37
Speaker 1: balloon balloon, said eel, You did say, balloon, one of
• 1:08:44
Speaker 1: those big colored things you blow up gaiety song and dance.
• 1:08:48
Speaker 1: Here we are and there we are. Yes, but I have
• 1:08:51
Speaker 1: a faith I'm very savvy, eel. But when I was
• 1:08:55
Speaker 1: running along to bring it to you, I fell down?
• 1:09:00
Speaker 1: Do you how unlucky? Who ran too farst? I expect
• 1:09:04
Speaker 1: you didn't hurt yourself, little Piglet, No.
• 1:09:09
  Speaker 3: But I I Oh, you're a burst balloon.
• 1:09:15
Speaker 1: There was a very long silence. My balloon, said here
• 1:09:20
Speaker 1: at last, Piglet nodded, my birthday balloon. Yes, here you are,
• 1:09:29
Speaker 1: said Piglet, sniffing a little.
• 1:09:32
Speaker 3: Here it is with with many happy returns of the day.
• 1:09:38
Speaker 1: And he gave you all the small piece of damp rag.
• 1:09:42
Speaker 1: Who's this it? Said? He or a little surprise. Piglet
• 1:09:46
Speaker 1: nodded my present. Piglet nodded again a balloon. Yes, thank you, Piglet,
• 1:09:57
Speaker 1: said he or who don't mind my asking? He went on,
• 1:10:02
Speaker 1: but what color was this balloon? When it When it
• 1:10:07
Speaker 1: was a balloon? Right? I? I just wondered. Rude, he murmured
• 1:10:14
Speaker 1: to himself, my favorite color. How big was it?
• 1:10:20
Speaker 3: About as big as me?
• 1:10:23
Speaker 1: I just wondered, about as big as piglet, he said
• 1:10:29
Speaker 1: to himself, sadly, my favorite size. Well will Piglet felt
• 1:10:36
Speaker 1: very miserable and didn't know what to say. He was
• 1:10:39
Speaker 1: still opening his mouth to begin something and then deciding
• 1:10:43
Speaker 1: that there wasn't any good saying that when he heard
• 1:10:45
Speaker 1: a shout from the other side of the river, and
• 1:10:47
Speaker 1: there was Pooh. Many happy returns of the day, called
• 1:10:51
Speaker 1: out Pooh. Forgetting it, he said it already, thank you, Pooh.
• 1:10:55
Speaker 1: I'm having them, said he or gloomily. I've brought you
• 1:10:59
Speaker 1: a little present, said peer excitedly. I've had it, said Eol.
• 1:11:04
Speaker 1: Pooh now splashed across the stream to weel, and Piglet
• 1:11:06
Speaker 1: was sitting a little way off his head and his
• 1:11:08
Speaker 1: paws snuffling to himself. It's a useful pot, said Pooh.
• 1:11:13
Speaker 1: Here it is, and it's got a very happy birthday
• 1:11:16
Speaker 1: with love from Pooh ridden on it. But that's what
• 1:11:18
Speaker 1: all that writing is, and it's for putting things in there.
• 1:11:23
Speaker 1: When he all saw the pot, he became quite excited.
• 1:11:27
Speaker 1: Why he said, I believe my balloon will just go
• 1:11:31
Speaker 1: into that pot. Oh, no eare, said Pooh. Balloons are
• 1:11:35
Speaker 1: much too big to go into pots. What you do
• 1:11:37
Speaker 1: with the balloon is you hold the balloon, not mine,
• 1:11:41
Speaker 1: said Heyl proudly look Piglet, And as Piglet looked sorrowfully,
• 1:11:46
Speaker 1: round Eel picked the balloon up with his teeth and
• 1:11:48
Speaker 1: placed it carefully in the pot, picked it out and
• 1:11:51
Speaker 1: put it on the ground, and then picked it up
• 1:11:53
Speaker 1: again and put it carefully back. So it does, said Pooh.
• 1:11:59
Speaker 1: It goos in, So it does, said Piglet.
• 1:12:03
  Speaker 3: And it comes.
• 1:12:04
Speaker 1: Out, doesn't it? Said he Or he goes in and
• 1:12:08
Speaker 1: out like anything. I'm very glad, said Pooh happily. And
• 1:12:14
Speaker 1: I thought of giving you a useful pot to put
• 1:12:16
  Speaker 1: things in.
• 1:12:17
Speaker 4: I'm very glad, said Piglet, happy that I thought they'd
• 1:12:20
Speaker 4: give you use something to pot, any useful pot.
• 1:12:23
Speaker 1: But he wasn't listening. He was taking the blue and
• 1:12:26
Speaker 1: out and putting it back again, as happy as could be.
• 1:12:31
Speaker 1: And didn't I give him anything, asked Christopher Robin, sadly.
• 1:12:37
Speaker 1: Of course you did, I said, you gave him, But
• 1:12:40
  Speaker 1: don't you remember a little, a little? I gave him
• 1:12:44
Speaker 1: a box of paints to paint things with. That was it.
• 1:12:48
Speaker 1: Why didn't I give it to him in the morning?
• 1:12:50
Speaker 1: You were so busy getting his party ready for him.
• 1:12:53
Speaker 1: He had a cake with icing on the top, and
• 1:12:55
Speaker 1: three candles, and his name and pink sugar. And yes,
• 1:13:00
Speaker 1: I remember, said Christopher Robin. End of chapter six, Chapter seven,
• 1:13:09
Speaker 1: in which Kanga and baby Roo come to the forest
• 1:13:12
Speaker 1: and Piglet has a bath. Nobody seemed to know where
• 1:13:17
Speaker 1: they came from, but there they were in the forest,
• 1:13:20
Speaker 1: Kanga and baby Roo. When Pooh asked Christopher Robin, how
• 1:13:24
Speaker 1: do they come here? Christopher Robin said, in the usual way,
• 1:13:28
Speaker 1: if you know what I mean. Pooh at Pooh, who
• 1:13:31
Speaker 1: didn't said oh. Then he nodded his head twice and
• 1:13:35
Speaker 1: said in the usual way. Ah. Then he went to
• 1:13:40
Speaker 1: call upon his friend Piglet to see what he thought
• 1:13:42
Speaker 1: about it. At a Piglet's house he found Rabbit, so
• 1:13:45
Speaker 1: he all talked about it together. What I don't like
• 1:13:47
Speaker 1: about it is this, said rabbit. Here are we you, Pooh,
• 1:13:51
Speaker 1: and you, Piglet and me? And suddenly and ere said Pooh,
• 1:13:56
Speaker 1: and ere, And then suddenly und Ole said Pooh and
• 1:14:00
Speaker 1: our And then all of a sudden, oh and Eel
• 1:14:03
Speaker 1: said Pooh. I was forgetting him. Here we are, said rabbit,
• 1:14:09
Speaker 1: very slowly and carefully, all of us. And then suddenly
• 1:14:15
Speaker 1: we wake up one morning, and what do we find?
• 1:14:17
Speaker 1: We find a strange animal among us, an animal of
• 1:14:21
Speaker 1: whom we have never even heard before, an animal who
• 1:14:24
Speaker 1: carries her family about with her in her pocket. Suppose
• 1:14:27
Speaker 1: I carried my family about with me in my pocket?
• 1:14:30
Speaker 1: How many pockets should I want?
• 1:14:32
  Speaker 3: Sixteen?
• 1:14:33
Speaker 1: Said piglet? Seventeen, isn't it? Said a rabbit that n
• 1:14:36
Speaker 1: more for her handkerchief. That's eighteen eighteen pockets? Who want suit?
• 1:14:40
Speaker 1: I have a time. There was a long and thoughtful silence,
• 1:14:44
Speaker 1: and then Pooh, who had been frowning very hard for
• 1:14:47
Speaker 1: some minutes, said I make it fifteen What said rabbit?
• 1:14:53
Speaker 1: Fifteen fifty? What your family? What about them? Rubbed his
• 1:15:00
Speaker 1: nose and said that he thought rabbit had been talking
• 1:15:02
Speaker 1: about his family, did I, said rabbits carelessly? Yes, you said,
• 1:15:08
Speaker 1: never mind, Pooh, said pelded impatiently. The question is how
• 1:15:11
Speaker 1: do we to do about Kanga? Oh I see, said Pee.
• 1:15:17
Speaker 1: The best way, sir Rabbit, would be this. The best
• 1:15:20
Speaker 1: way would be to steal baby Rue and hide him,
• 1:15:23
Speaker 1: and then when Kanga says where's baby Ru, we say aha, Oha,
• 1:15:31
Speaker 1: said Pooh, practicing. Oh oh, of course, he went on.
• 1:15:38
Speaker 1: We could say aha even if we hadn't stolen baby Rue. Pah,
• 1:15:44
Speaker 1: said Rabbit. Kindly, you haven't any brain, I know, said Pooh. Humbly,
• 1:15:51
Speaker 1: we say ah so that Kanga knows that we know
• 1:15:54
Speaker 1: where baby Ru is. Aha means we'll tell you where
• 1:15:58
Speaker 1: baby Roul is if you'll promise to go away for
• 1:16:01
Speaker 1: the forest and never come back. Now, don't talk what
• 1:16:04
Speaker 1: I think. Who went into a corner and tried saying
• 1:16:07
Speaker 1: aha in that sort of voice. Sometimes it seemed to
• 1:16:11
Speaker 1: him that it did mean what Rabbit said, and sometimes
• 1:16:14
Speaker 1: it seemed to him that it didn't. I suppose it's
• 1:16:17
Speaker 1: just practice, he thought. I wonder if Kangle will have
• 1:16:21
Speaker 1: to practice it too, so as to understand it. There's
• 1:16:25
Speaker 1: just one thing, said Pigot, fidgeting a bit.
• 1:16:28
Speaker 4: I was talking to Christopher Robin, and he said that
• 1:16:31
Speaker 4: a kango is generally regarded as one of the fiercer animals.
• 1:16:35
Speaker 4: I'm not frightened the fierce animals in the ordinary way,
• 1:16:38
Speaker 4: but it's well known that if one of the.
• 1:16:40
Speaker 1: Fiercer animals is deprived of its young, it becomes as
• 1:16:44
Speaker 1: fierce as two of the fiercer animals, in which case, Ah,
• 1:16:49
Speaker 1: it's perhaps a foolish thing to say, Piglet said, Rabbit.
• 1:16:54
Speaker 1: Take it out a pencil and licking the end of it.
• 1:16:56
Speaker 1: You haven't any pluck. It's hard to be brave, said Piglet,
• 1:17:01
Speaker 1: sniffing slightly. Are you're only a very small animal? Rabbit,
• 1:17:07
Speaker 1: who had begun to write very busily, looked up and said,
• 1:17:11
Speaker 1: it is because you're a very small animal that you
• 1:17:13
Speaker 1: will be useful in the adventure before us. Pigler was
• 1:17:16
Speaker 1: so excited at the idea of being useful that if
• 1:17:18
Speaker 1: you got to be frightened anymore. And when Rabbit went
• 1:17:21
Speaker 1: on to say that kanglars were only fears during the
• 1:17:23
Speaker 1: winter months, being at other times of an affectionate disposition,
• 1:17:26
Speaker 1: he could hardly sit still. He was so eager to
• 1:17:29
Speaker 1: begin being useful at once. What about me, said Pooh, sadly,
• 1:17:34
Speaker 1: I suppose I shan't be useful. Never mind, Poh, said
• 1:17:39
Speaker 1: pigot comfortingly. Another time, perhaps without Pooh, said Rabbit solemnly,
• 1:17:44
Speaker 1: as he sharpened his pencil. The adventure would be impossible, Oh,
• 1:17:49
Speaker 1: said Piglet, and tried not to look disappointed. But Pooh
• 1:17:53
Speaker 1: went into a corner of the room and said proudly
• 1:17:55
Speaker 1: to himself, impossible without me, that sort of bear. Now listen,
• 1:18:03
Speaker 1: all of you, said Rabbit when he finished writing. Had
• 1:18:06
Speaker 1: pum piglets sat listening, very eagerly with their mouths open.
• 1:18:10
Speaker 1: This was what Rabbit read out plan to capture baby Ru.
• 1:18:15
Speaker 1: One general remarks, Kangar runs faster than any of us,
• 1:18:19
Speaker 1: even me. Two more general remarks, Kanga never takes an
• 1:18:23
Speaker 1: eye off baby Roux, except when he's safely buttoned up
• 1:18:26
Speaker 1: in her pocket. Three. Therefore, if we are to capture
• 1:18:31
Speaker 1: baby Roux, we must get a long start, because Kangar
• 1:18:33
Speaker 1: runs faster than any of us, even me. See one.
• 1:18:37
Speaker 1: Four A thought if Ru had jumped out of Kango's
• 1:18:40
Speaker 1: pocket and Piglet had jumped in, Kango wouldn't know the difference,
• 1:18:44
Speaker 1: because Piglet is a very small animal five like Ru. Six,
• 1:18:50
Speaker 1: But Kango would have to be looking the other way first,
• 1:18:52
Speaker 1: so as not to see Piglet jumping in seven CE
• 1:18:56
Speaker 1: two eight. Another thought, But if Pooh was talking to
• 1:19:00
Speaker 1: her very excitedly, she might look the other way for
• 1:19:03
Speaker 1: a moment nine, and then I could run away with
• 1:19:06
Speaker 1: rue ten quickly eleven, and Kanga wouldn't discover the difference
• 1:19:11
Speaker 1: until afterwards. Well, Rabbit read this out proudly, and for
• 1:19:16
Speaker 1: a little while after you'd read it, nobody said in
• 1:19:18
Speaker 1: a thing. And then Piglet, who had been opening and
• 1:19:21
Speaker 1: shutting his mouth without making any noise, managed to say,
• 1:19:24
Speaker 1: very huskily. And afterwards, how do you mean when Kanger
• 1:19:32
Speaker 1: does discover the difference? There we all say aha, all
• 1:19:37
Speaker 1: three of us. Yes. Oh, but what's a travel Piglet, Nothing,
• 1:19:43
Speaker 1: said Piglet. As long as we all three say it,
• 1:19:47
Speaker 1: as long as we all three say it, Pigot, I
• 1:19:50
Speaker 1: don't mind, he said, But I shouldn't care to say
• 1:19:53
Speaker 1: aha by myself. It wouldn't sound nearly so well. By
• 1:19:58
Speaker 1: the way, he said, you are are quite sure about
• 1:20:01
Speaker 1: what you said about the winter months the winter mons? Yes,
• 1:20:05
Speaker 1: are you being fierce in the winter months? Oh, yes, yes,
• 1:20:08
Speaker 1: that's all right. Real Paul you'll see what you have
• 1:20:11
Speaker 1: to do. No, said Pooh Beert, Not yet, he said,
• 1:20:17
Speaker 1: what do I do? Well, you just have to talk
• 1:20:20
Speaker 1: very hard to canker so she doesn't notice anything. Oh well,
• 1:20:25
Speaker 1: what about anything you like? You mean, like telling her
• 1:20:29
Speaker 1: a little bit of poetry or something. That's it, said Graret,
• 1:20:32
Speaker 1: spend it. Now, come along, So they all went out
• 1:20:36
Speaker 1: to look for Kanga kangar and Rou was bending a
• 1:20:39
Speaker 1: quiet afternoon in the sandy part of the forest. Baby
• 1:20:42
Speaker 1: Roo was practicing very small jumps in the sand and
• 1:20:45
Speaker 1: falling down mouse holes and climbing out of them, and
• 1:20:48
Speaker 1: Kanger was fidgeting about and saying, just one more jam dear,
• 1:20:51
Speaker 1: are there? We mask at him, and at that moment,
• 1:20:54
Speaker 1: who sh comes stumping up the hill. But pooh, good
• 1:20:57
Speaker 1: after Kanger, good afternoon, Look at me jumping, sweet Rue
• 1:21:02
Speaker 1: and fell into another mousehole. Hello Ru, my little fellow. Wait,
• 1:21:06
Speaker 1: we're just going home, said Kanga can I afternoon, Rabbit,
• 1:21:09
Speaker 1: Canna afternoon, Piglet. Rabbit and Piglets, who had now come
• 1:21:12
Speaker 1: up from the other side of the hill, said good
• 1:21:14
Speaker 1: afternoon and hello Rue. And Ru asked them to look
• 1:21:17
Speaker 1: at him jumping, so they stayed and looked, and Kanga
• 1:21:21
Speaker 1: looked too. Ooh, oh, Kanger said pooh, after Rabbit had
• 1:21:25
Speaker 1: winked at him twice. Oh don't know if you're interested
• 1:21:29
Speaker 1: in poetry at all, handle at all, said Kanga. Ooh,
• 1:21:33
Speaker 1: said Pooh. Rudy, it just one more jamp than then
• 1:21:36
Speaker 1: we must go home. There was a short silence while
• 1:21:39
Speaker 1: rue fell down another mousehole. Go on, said rabbit, in
• 1:21:44
Speaker 1: a loud whisper behind his paw, talking of poetry, said Pooh.
• 1:21:49
Speaker 1: I made up a little piece as I was coming along.
• 1:21:52
Speaker 1: It went like this, sir, No, let me see, fancy
• 1:21:56
Speaker 1: said now road dear, you don't love this piece, peetree,
• 1:22:00
Speaker 1: said rabbit. He'll, Rabbit said, piglet, you ask this, and
• 1:22:04
Speaker 1: very carefully said rabbit.
• 1:22:06
Speaker 3: So is that to miss any of it?
• 1:22:07
Speaker 1: Said pigot Ah. Yes, said Kanga, but she still looked
• 1:22:11
Speaker 1: at baby row. How did it go? Poh, said rabbit.
• 1:22:15
Speaker 1: Poo gave a little cough and began lies written by
• 1:22:22
Speaker 1: a pair of very little brain. On Monday, when the
• 1:22:26
Speaker 1: sun is hot, I wonder to myself a lot. Now
• 1:22:30
Speaker 1: is it true or is it not? Yet? What is which?
• 1:22:33
Speaker 1: And which is what? Hod Tuesday, when it hails and snows,
• 1:22:38
Speaker 1: the feeling on me grows and grows that hardly anybody
• 1:22:41
Speaker 1: knows if those are these or these are those? On Wednesday,
• 1:22:47
Speaker 1: when the sky is blue and I have nothing else
• 1:22:49
Speaker 1: to do, I sometimes wonder if it's true that who
• 1:22:53
Speaker 1: is what? And what is who? On Thursday, when it
• 1:22:56
Speaker 1: starts to freeze, a hoarfrost twinkles on the trees. Oh,
• 1:23:00
Speaker 1: very readily one sees that these are wos. But whose
• 1:23:04
Speaker 1: are these? Yes, it is, isn't it? Said Kanga, not
• 1:23:07
Speaker 1: waiting to hear what happened on Friday. Just one more jam,
• 1:23:10
Speaker 1: rue deer, and then we really must be galling. Rabbit
• 1:23:13
Speaker 1: gave Poo a hurrying up sort of nudge, talking of poetry,
• 1:23:17
Speaker 1: said Pooh, quickly, have you ever noticed that tree right
• 1:23:19
Speaker 1: over there where? Said Kanga. Now Rue, right over there,
• 1:23:23
Speaker 1: said Poo, pointed behind Kanger's back. Now, said Kanga, Now
• 1:23:27
Speaker 1: jump in, Rue, dear, and we'll go home. You ought
• 1:23:29
Speaker 1: to look at that tree right over there, said Rabbit.
• 1:23:31
Speaker 1: Shall I lift you in rule? And he picked up
• 1:23:34
Speaker 1: Rue in his paws. I can see a bird of
• 1:23:36
Speaker 1: it from here, said Poo. Or is it a fish?
• 1:23:40
Speaker 1: You want to see the bird from here? Said rabbit
• 1:23:42
  Speaker 1: unless it's a fish.
• 1:23:44
  Speaker 3: It isn't a fish. It's a bird, said.
• 1:23:46
Speaker 1: Piglet, So it is, said rabbit. Is that a starling
• 1:23:50
Speaker 1: or a blackbird? Said Pooh, that's the whole question, said rabbit.
• 1:23:53
Speaker 1: Is it a blackbird or a starling? And then at
• 1:23:57
Speaker 1: last Kanga did turn her head to look, and the
• 1:24:00
Speaker 1: moment that her head was turned, Rabbit said in a
• 1:24:02
Speaker 1: loud voice, any gay rule And in jumped Piglet into
• 1:24:06
Speaker 1: Kanga's pocket and off scampered Rabbit with ruin his paws
• 1:24:09
Speaker 1: as fast as he could. Why is rabbit, said Kanga,
• 1:24:13
Speaker 1: turning round again. You're all right? Bo, Dear Piglet made
• 1:24:17
Speaker 1: a squeaky rue noise from the bottom of Kangar's pocket. Oh,
• 1:24:21
Speaker 1: if rabbit had to go away, said poo. I think
• 1:24:24
Speaker 1: he thought of something you had to go and see
• 1:24:26
Speaker 1: about suddenly, and Piglet, I think Piglet thought of something
• 1:24:30
Speaker 1: at the same time. Suddenly. Well, we must take any time,
• 1:24:35
Speaker 1: said Keanker. Goodbye, Pooh, and in three large jumps she
• 1:24:39
Speaker 1: was gone. Two looked after her as she went. I
• 1:24:44
Speaker 1: wish I could jump like that, he thought. Some can
• 1:24:47
Speaker 1: and some can't. That's how it is. But there were
• 1:24:52
Speaker 1: moments when Piglet wished that Kango couldn't. Often, when he'd
• 1:24:55
Speaker 1: had a long walk home through the forest, he'd wish
• 1:24:58
Speaker 1: that he were a bird. But now he thought jerkily
• 1:25:00
Speaker 1: to himself at the bottom of Kanga's pocket.
• 1:25:02
Speaker 3: If this his flying Hi shall never really take to it.
• 1:25:08
Speaker 1: And as he went up in the air, he said ooh,
• 1:25:10
Speaker 1: And as he came down he said how. And he
• 1:25:13
  Speaker 1: was saying.
• 1:25:13
Speaker 3: Oh, how, oh, how, oh how.
• 1:25:17
Speaker 1: All the way to Kanga's house. Of course, as soon
• 1:25:20
Speaker 1: as kangar unbottomed her pocket, she saw what had happened.
• 1:25:23
Speaker 1: Just for a moment she thought she was frightened, and
• 1:25:26
Speaker 1: then she knew she wasn't. So she felt quite sure
• 1:25:29
Speaker 1: that Christopher Robin would never let any harm happen to Rue.
• 1:25:32
Speaker 1: So she said to herself, if they are having a
• 1:25:34
Speaker 1: jike with me, Hi will have a jike with them now, then,
• 1:25:39
Speaker 1: Rue dear, she said, as she took Piglet out of
• 1:25:41
Speaker 1: her pocket. Bedtime ha ha ha, said Piglet as well
• 1:25:46
Speaker 1: as he could after his terrifying journey, But it wasn't
• 1:25:49
Speaker 1: a very good aha, and Kanga didn't seem to understand
• 1:25:52
Speaker 1: what it meant. Bear thirst said Kanga in a cheerful voice.
• 1:25:57
Speaker 3: Ha ha, ha ha.
• 1:25:59
Speaker 1: Said Piglet, again, looking round anxiously for the others. But
• 1:26:02
Speaker 1: the others weren't there. Rabbit was playing with baby Room
• 1:26:05
Speaker 1: in his own house and feeling more fond of him
• 1:26:07
Speaker 1: every minute, and Pooh, who had decided to be a kanger,
• 1:26:11
Speaker 1: was still at the sandy place on the top of
• 1:26:12
Speaker 1: the forest, practicing jumps. I'm not at all sure, said
• 1:26:17
Speaker 1: Kangar in a thoughtful voice. Then it wouldn't be a
• 1:26:19
Speaker 1: good idea to have a corold berth this evening, would
• 1:26:22
Speaker 1: you like that? Row deer? Piglet, who had never been
• 1:26:26
Speaker 1: really fond of bards, shuddered a long, indignant shudder and said,
• 1:26:30
Speaker 1: in as brave a voice as he could.
• 1:26:32
Speaker 3: Panga, I see that the time has come to speak.
• 1:26:36
Speaker 1: Plainly, Fanny little roue, said Kanga, as she got the
• 1:26:40
Speaker 1: bath waters already. I am not Roo, said Piglet loudly.
• 1:26:44
  Speaker 3: I am Piglet.
• 1:26:46
Speaker 1: Yes, dear, yes, said Kanga, soothingly and irritating Biggot's voice too.
• 1:26:51
Speaker 1: So clever of him, she went on, and she took
• 1:26:54
Speaker 1: a large bar of yellow soap out of the cupboard.
• 1:26:56
Speaker 1: What will he be doing? Next. Can't you see, shouted piglets.
• 1:27:01
Speaker 3: How did you got eyes?
• 1:27:03
Speaker 1: Look at me? Are all looking rude? Dear, said Kanga
• 1:27:07
Speaker 1: rather severely, as you know what I told you yesterday
• 1:27:09
Speaker 1: about making faces. If you go on making faces like piglets,
• 1:27:13
Speaker 1: you will grow up to look like piglets, and then
• 1:27:16
Speaker 1: think how sorry you'll be. Now, then h to the
• 1:27:19
Speaker 1: bath and don't let me have to speak to you
• 1:27:20
Speaker 1: about it again. Before he knew where he was, Piglet
• 1:27:24
Speaker 1: was in the bath and Kanger was scrubbing him firmly
• 1:27:27
Speaker 1: with a large, larvely fannel. Cried, piglets, let me out.
• 1:27:33
Speaker 1: I piglets. Don't open the mouth, dear, or the site
• 1:27:36
Speaker 1: goes in, said Kanga.
• 1:27:38
Speaker 4: There, what did I tell you?
• 1:27:41
  Speaker 3: You did it?
• 1:27:42
Speaker 1: Purpose, spluttered Piglet as soon as he could speak again,
• 1:27:45
Speaker 1: and then accidentally had another mouthful of larvy flannel. They're right, dear,
• 1:27:50
Speaker 1: don't say anything, said Kanga, and did another minute. Piglet
• 1:27:54
Speaker 1: was out of the bath and being rubbed dry with
• 1:27:56
Speaker 1: a towel. Now, said Kanga, there's yours, and then in bed.
• 1:28:04
Speaker 1: What medicine, said Piglet, to make you very big and strong, dear?
• 1:28:08
Speaker 1: He don't want to grab smaller than weak, like piglet.
• 1:28:10
Speaker 1: Do you well? Then at that moment there was a
• 1:28:14
Speaker 1: knock of the door. Come in, said Kanger. It didn't
• 1:28:17
  Speaker 1: came Christopher Robin.
• 1:28:18
  Speaker 3: Christopher Robin.
• 1:28:19
Speaker 1: Christpher Robin cried, Piglet, tell Kanga who I am? She
• 1:28:23
Speaker 1: keeps saying I'm blue. I'm not who am I? Christopher
• 1:28:27
Speaker 1: Robin looked at him very carefully and shook his head.
• 1:28:31
Speaker 1: He can't be rude, he said, because I've just seen
• 1:28:33
Speaker 1: rue playing in Rabbit's house. Well, said Kanger. Fancy that?
• 1:28:38
Speaker 1: Fancy am I'm making a mistake like that.
• 1:28:41
Speaker 3: There you are, said Billet. I told you so, I'm Piglet.
• 1:28:45
Speaker 1: Christopher Robin shook his head again. Oh you're not piglet,
• 1:28:48
Speaker 1: he said, I do Piglet. Well, then he's quite a
• 1:28:50
Speaker 1: different color. Piglet began to say that this was because
• 1:28:54
Speaker 1: he just had a bath, and then he thought, perhaps
• 1:28:56
Speaker 1: if he wouldn't say that, And as he opened his
• 1:28:58
Speaker 1: mouth to see something else, Kanga slipped the medicine spoon
• 1:29:01
Speaker 1: in and then patted him on the back and told
• 1:29:03
Speaker 1: him that it was really quite a nice taste when
• 1:29:05
Speaker 1: you got used to it. How there it wasn't Piglet,
• 1:29:08
Speaker 1: said Kanga. I wonder who it can be. Perhaps it's
• 1:29:12
Speaker 1: some relation of poos, said Christopher Robin. What about a
• 1:29:15
Speaker 1: nephew or an uncle or something. Kanger agreed that this
• 1:29:19
Speaker 1: was probably what it was, and said that they would
• 1:29:21
Speaker 1: have to call it by some name. I shall call
• 1:29:24
Speaker 1: it Pootle, said Christopher Robin, Henry Pootle for short. And
• 1:29:30
Speaker 1: just when it was decided, Henry Poodle wriggled out of
• 1:29:33
Speaker 1: Kanga's arms and jumped to the ground. To his great joy,
• 1:29:35
Speaker 1: Christopher Robin had left the door open. Never had Henry
• 1:29:39
Speaker 1: Poodle Piglet run so fast as he ran then, and
• 1:29:42
Speaker 1: he didn't stop running until he got quite close to
• 1:29:44
Speaker 1: his house. But when he was one hundred yards away,
• 1:29:47
Speaker 1: he stopped running and rolled the rest of the way
• 1:29:49
Speaker 1: home so as to get his own nice, comfortable color again.
• 1:29:53
Speaker 1: So kangar and rou stayed in the forest, and every
• 1:29:56
Speaker 1: Tuesday Rue spent the day with his great friend Rabbit,
• 1:30:00
Speaker 1: and every Tuesday Kanga spent the day with her great
• 1:30:02
Speaker 1: friend Pooh, teaching him to jump, And every Tuesday Piglets
• 1:30:06
Speaker 1: spent the day with his great friend Christopher Robin. So
• 1:30:09
Speaker 1: they were all happy again. End of chapter seven Chapter eight,
• 1:30:18
Speaker 1: in which Christopher Robin leads an expetition to the North Pole.
• 1:30:23
Speaker 1: One fine day, Poo had stumped up to the top
• 1:30:25
Speaker 1: of the forest to see if his friend, Christopher Robin
• 1:30:27
Speaker 1: was interested in bears at all. At breakfast that morning,
• 1:30:31
Speaker 1: a simple meal of marmalade, spread likely over a honeycomb
• 1:30:34
Speaker 1: or two, he suddenly thought of a new song. It
• 1:30:37
Speaker 1: began like this, sing Ho for the Life of a Bear.
• 1:30:42
Speaker 1: When he got as far as this, he scratched his
• 1:30:45
Speaker 1: head and thought to himself, matter who could start for
• 1:30:48
Speaker 1: a song? But what about the second line? He tried
• 1:30:52
Speaker 1: singing Ho two or three times, but it didn't seem
• 1:30:56
Speaker 1: to help. Perhaps it would be better, he thought, if
• 1:30:59
Speaker 1: I sign Hi for the Life of a bear. So
• 1:31:02
Speaker 1: he sang it, but it wasn't very well. Then he said,
• 1:31:07
Speaker 1: I shall sing that first line twice, and perhaps if
• 1:31:10
Speaker 1: I sing it very quickly, I shall find myself singing
• 1:31:13
Speaker 1: the third and fourth line before I have time to
• 1:31:15
Speaker 1: think of them, and that'll be a good song. Now,
• 1:31:18
Speaker 1: then sing Ho for the Life of a bir. Sing
• 1:31:23
Speaker 1: Ho for the Life of a bar. I don't much
• 1:31:27
Speaker 1: mind if it rains or snows, because I've got a
• 1:31:29
Speaker 1: lot of honey on my nice new nose. I don't
• 1:31:32
Speaker 1: much care if it snows or thaws, cause I've got
• 1:31:34
Speaker 1: a lot of honey on my nice clean paws. Sing
• 1:31:37
Speaker 1: Ho for a bear, sing ho for a pool, and
• 1:31:42
Speaker 1: I'll have a little something in an aw raw two.
• 1:31:46
Speaker 1: He was so pleased with this song that he sang
• 1:31:48
Speaker 1: all the way to the top of the forest. And
• 1:31:50
Speaker 1: if I go on singing it much longer, he thought,
• 1:31:53
Speaker 1: it'll be time for them in something, and then the
• 1:31:55
Speaker 1: last line won't be true, so he turned it into
• 1:31:58
Speaker 1: a hum instead. Christopher Robin was sitting outside his door
• 1:32:02
Speaker 1: putting on his big boots. As soon as he saw
• 1:32:06
Speaker 1: the big boots, Pooh knew that an adventure was going
• 1:32:08
Speaker 1: to happen, and he brushed the honey off his nose
• 1:32:11
Speaker 1: at the back of his paw and spruced himself up
• 1:32:13
Speaker 1: as well as he could so as to look ready
• 1:32:15
Speaker 1: for anything. Good morning, Christopher Robin, he called out, hello,
• 1:32:19
Speaker 1: Pooh Bear, I can't get this boot on. That's bird,
• 1:32:23
Speaker 1: said Pooh. Do you think he could very kindly lean
• 1:32:26
Speaker 1: against me? Because I keep pulling so hard that I
• 1:32:28
Speaker 1: fall over backwards. Pooh sat down, dug his feet into
• 1:32:32
Speaker 1: the ground and pushed hard against Christopher Robbins's back, and
• 1:32:35
Speaker 1: Christopher Robin pushed hard against his and pulled and pulled
• 1:32:40
Speaker 1: at his boot until he got it on her mort'stut
• 1:32:44
Speaker 1: said Pooh, what do we do next? We're all going
• 1:32:48
Speaker 1: on an expedition, said Christoph Robin as he got up
• 1:32:50
Speaker 1: and brushed himself. Thank you, Pooh cooing. On an expedition,
• 1:32:54
Speaker 1: said Pooh eagerly. I don't think I've ever been on
• 1:32:57
Speaker 1: one of those. Where are we going to on this expedition? Expedition?
• 1:33:02
Speaker 1: Silly old bear has got an X in it, oh,
• 1:33:05
Speaker 1: said Pooh, Hello, but he didn't. Really, We're going to
• 1:33:10
Speaker 1: discover the North Pole, oh, said Pooh again. What is
• 1:33:15
Speaker 1: the North Pole? He asked. It's just a thing you discover,
• 1:33:19
Speaker 1: said Christopher Robin carelessly, not being quite sure himself. Oh
• 1:33:23
Speaker 1: I see, said Pooh. Oh bears any good at discovering it?
• 1:33:27
Speaker 1: Of course they are, and Rabbit and Kanger and all
• 1:33:29
Speaker 1: of you. It's an expedition, That's what that expedition means.
• 1:33:33
Speaker 1: A long line of everybody. You'd better tell the others
• 1:33:36
Speaker 1: to get ready. What I see If my gun's all right?
• 1:33:38
Speaker 1: And we must all bring provisions, bring what things to eat? Ooh,
• 1:33:43
Speaker 1: said Pooh, happily. I thought you said provisions. I'll go
• 1:33:47
Speaker 1: and tell them, and he stumped off. The first person
• 1:33:50
Speaker 1: he met was Rabbit. Hello, Rabbit, he said, is that you?
• 1:33:55
Speaker 1: Let's pretend it isn't, said rabbit, and see what happens.
• 1:33:59
Speaker 1: I've got to miss for you. I'll give it to him.
• 1:34:02
Speaker 1: We're all going on an expedition with Christopher Robin. What
• 1:34:07
Speaker 1: is it when we're on it? Sort of boat, I think,
• 1:34:11
Speaker 1: said Poe. Oh, that sort, yes, and we're going to
• 1:34:14
Speaker 1: discover a pole or something or was it a mule? Anyhow,
• 1:34:19
Speaker 1: we're going to discover it. We are, are we said rabbit. Yes,
• 1:34:24
Speaker 1: We've got to bring pro things to eat with us
• 1:34:28
Speaker 1: in case we want to eat them. Now, I'm going
• 1:34:30
Speaker 1: down to Piglets. Tell Koger, will you. He left Rabbit
• 1:34:34
Speaker 1: and hurried down to Piglet's house. The piglet was sitting
• 1:34:37
Speaker 1: on the ground at the door of his house, blowing
• 1:34:39
Speaker 1: happily at a dandelion. I'm wondering whether it would be
• 1:34:41
Speaker 1: this year, next year, sometime, or never. He just discovered
• 1:34:46
Speaker 1: that it would be never, and was trying to remember
• 1:34:49
Speaker 1: what it was, and hoping it wasn't anything nice. When
• 1:34:52
Speaker 1: Poe came up, huh, Piglet said perr excitedly. We're going
• 1:34:56
Speaker 1: on an expetition, all of us who were things to
• 1:34:58
Speaker 1: eat to discover us something to discover what said Piglet anxiously, Oh,
• 1:35:05
Speaker 1: just something, nothing fierce. Christoph Robin didn't say anything about fierce.
• 1:35:10
Speaker 1: He just said it had an.
• 1:35:11
  Speaker 3: X It isn't there next I mind.
• 1:35:14
  Speaker 1: Said Piglet, earnestly.
• 1:35:15
Speaker 3: Hits their teeth. But if Christoph Robin is coming, I
• 1:35:18
  Speaker 3: don't mind anything.
• 1:35:21
Speaker 1: In a little while, they were already at the top
• 1:35:22
Speaker 1: of the forest and the expedition started. First came Christopher
• 1:35:26
Speaker 1: Robin and Rabbits, then Piglet and Pooh, then Kanga with
• 1:35:29
Speaker 1: ruined her pockets and owl, then Eyore, and at the end,
• 1:35:33
Speaker 1: in a long line, all Rabbit's friends and relations. I
• 1:35:37
Speaker 1: didn't ask them, explained Rabbit carelessly. They just came. They
• 1:35:40
Speaker 1: always do, take a march at the end after ere.
• 1:35:43
Speaker 1: What I say, said Eol, is that it's unsatling. Well,
• 1:35:48
Speaker 1: I didn't want to come on this, x bo, what
• 1:35:52
Speaker 1: Pooh said, I only came to oblige. But here I am,
• 1:35:57
Speaker 1: And if I am the end of the X what
• 1:36:01
Speaker 1: we're talking about, then let me be the end. But
• 1:36:05
Speaker 1: if every time I want to sit down for a
• 1:36:07
Speaker 1: little rest, I have to brush away half a dozen
• 1:36:10
Speaker 1: of rabbits, smaller friends and relations first, then this isn't
• 1:36:14
Speaker 1: an expo whilstever it is at all, It's simply a
• 1:36:19
Speaker 1: confused noise. That's what I say. They see what to
• 1:36:24
Speaker 1: all means? Said Al, if you ask me, I'm not
• 1:36:28
Speaker 1: asking anybody, said he. Or I'm just telling everybody. We
• 1:36:33
Speaker 1: can look from the north pole, or we can play
• 1:36:36
Speaker 1: here we go gathering nuts and may with the end
• 1:36:39
Speaker 1: part of an ansome nest. It's all the same to me.
• 1:36:43
Speaker 1: There was a shout from the top of the line.
• 1:36:45
Speaker 1: Come on, called Christopher Robbin, Come on, called peole and piglets.
• 1:36:50
Speaker 1: Come on, called Al, we're starting, Sai Rabbit. I must go,
• 1:36:54
Speaker 1: and he hurried off to the front of the expedition
• 1:36:56
Speaker 1: with Christopher Robbin. All right, said he Or, We're going,
• 1:37:01
Speaker 1: only don't blame me. So off they all went to
• 1:37:06
Speaker 1: discover the pole, and as they walked they chattered to
• 1:37:09
Speaker 1: each other of this and that, all except Pooh, who
• 1:37:11
Speaker 1: was making up a song. This is the first verse,
• 1:37:14
Speaker 1: he said to Piglet when he was ready with it.
• 1:37:17
Speaker 1: First verse of what my song? What song? This one?
• 1:37:22
  Speaker 3: Which one?
• 1:37:23
Speaker 1: Well, if you listen, piglets will hear it.
• 1:37:25
Speaker 3: How do you know I'm not listening.
• 1:37:28
Speaker 1: Poop couldn't answer that one, so he began to sing.
• 1:37:31
Speaker 1: They all went off to discover the pole. Owl and
• 1:37:34
Speaker 1: Piglet and Rabbit and all is a thing you discover,
• 1:37:38
Speaker 1: as I've been told by Owl and Piglet and rabbit
• 1:37:41
Speaker 1: and all he or Christopher, Robin and Pooh and rabbit's
• 1:37:44
Speaker 1: relations all went to and where the pole was. None
• 1:37:48
Speaker 1: of them knew sing hey for Rowl and Rabbit turned
• 1:37:53
Speaker 1: all hush said, as Robin turning round to Pooh, which
• 1:37:57
Speaker 1: is coming to a dangerous place. Hush, said Pooh, turning
• 1:38:01
Speaker 1: around quickly to Pikelet, Hush said Piglet. To Kanga, Hush
• 1:38:04
Speaker 1: said Kanger. To Olu said hush, hush, hah, hush, hush
• 1:38:08
Speaker 1: several times to himself very quietly, hush said al to
• 1:38:12
Speaker 1: we aw, Hush said he yaw, in a terrible voice
• 1:38:16
Speaker 1: to all Rabbit's friends of relations, And hush, they said
• 1:38:18
Speaker 1: hastily to each other all down the line until it
• 1:38:21
Speaker 1: got to the last one of all, and the last
• 1:38:23
Speaker 1: and smallest friend of relation. Was so upset to find
• 1:38:25
Speaker 1: that the whole expedition was saying hush to him that
• 1:38:28
Speaker 1: he buried himself head downwards in a crack in the ground,
• 1:38:31
Speaker 1: and stayed there for two days until the danger was over,
• 1:38:34
Speaker 1: and then went home with a great hurry, and lived
• 1:38:36
Speaker 1: quietly with his arms ever afterwards. His name was Alexander Beetle.
• 1:38:40
Speaker 1: They'd come to a stream which twisted and tumbled between
• 1:38:43
Speaker 1: high rocky banks, and Christopher Robins saw at once how
• 1:38:46
Speaker 1: dangerous it was. It's just the place, he explained. For
• 1:38:51
Speaker 1: an ambush? What sorts of bush? Whispered Poo to Piglet,
• 1:38:55
Speaker 1: Who gorse bush? They do? Pull? Said Al in his
• 1:38:59
Speaker 1: super period way. Don't you know what an ambushes? Owl,
• 1:39:04
Speaker 1: said Piglet, looking round at him severely. Poo's whisper was
• 1:39:07
Speaker 1: a perfectly private whisper, and there was now need an embush,
• 1:39:11
Speaker 1: said Al. This is a sort of surprise. So who
• 1:39:15
Speaker 1: was a gorse bush? Sometimes? Said Poo an ambush? As
• 1:39:18
Speaker 1: I was about to explaining to Pooh, said Piglet, here's.
• 1:39:21
Speaker 3: A sort of surprise if.
• 1:39:24
Speaker 1: People jump out at you suddenly that's an ambush, said Al.
• 1:39:28
Speaker 1: He's an ambush poo when people jump at you suddenly,
• 1:39:31
Speaker 1: explained Piglet Poo, who now knew what an ambush was,
• 1:39:35
Speaker 1: said that a gorse bush had sprung at him suddenly
• 1:39:37
Speaker 1: one day when he fell off a tree, and he'd
• 1:39:39
Speaker 1: taken six days to get all the prickles out of himself.
• 1:39:42
Speaker 1: We're not talking about gorse bushes, said Al, a little crossly.
• 1:39:48
Speaker 1: Hll yum, said Pooh. They were climbing very cautiously up
• 1:39:51
Speaker 1: the stream now, going from rock to rock, and after
• 1:39:54
Speaker 1: they'd gone a little way, they came to a place
• 1:39:56
Speaker 1: where the banks widened out at each side, so on
• 1:39:59
Speaker 1: each side of the water there was a level strip
• 1:40:01
Speaker 1: of grass on which they could sit down and rest.
• 1:40:03
Speaker 1: As soon as he saw this, Christoph Robin called halt,
• 1:40:07
Speaker 1: and they all sat down and rested. I think, said
• 1:40:10
Speaker 1: Christopher Robin, that we ought to eat all our provisions now,
• 1:40:13
Speaker 1: so that we shan't have so much to carry. Whose
• 1:40:16
Speaker 1: all are what, said pooh, Oh that we've bought, said Piglet.
• 1:40:20
Speaker 1: Getting to work. That's a good idea, said Pooh, and
• 1:40:23
Speaker 1: he got to work too. Hope you've all got something,
• 1:40:27
Speaker 1: asked Christopher Robin with his mouthful. All except me, said eol.
• 1:40:33
Speaker 1: As usual, he looked round at them in his melancholy way.
• 1:40:38
Speaker 1: I suppose none of you are sitting on a thistle
• 1:40:41
Speaker 1: by any chance, I believe I am, said pooh Oh.
• 1:40:46
Speaker 1: He got up and looked behind him. Yes, I was,
• 1:40:49
Speaker 1: who I thought, so, thank you, Pooh. If you've quite
• 1:40:53
Speaker 1: finished with it, he moved across the Pooh's place and
• 1:40:56
Speaker 1: began to eat. It doesn't do them any good, you know,
• 1:41:01
Speaker 1: sitting on them, he went on as he looked up,
• 1:41:04
Speaker 1: munching takes all the life out of them. Remember that
• 1:41:09
Speaker 1: another time, all of you. A little consideration, a little
• 1:41:14
Speaker 1: thought for others, makes all the difference. As soon as
• 1:41:18
Speaker 1: he'd finish his lunch, Christopher Robbin whispered to rabbit. A
• 1:41:21
Speaker 1: rabbit said yes, yes, of course, and he walked a
• 1:41:24
Speaker 1: little way upstream together. I didn't want the others to hear,
• 1:41:28
Speaker 1: said Christopher Robin. Quite so, said rabbit, looking important. It's
• 1:41:32
  Speaker 1: I wondered, it's only rabbit. I suppose you don't know
• 1:41:38
Speaker 1: what does the north pole look like? Well, said rabbit,
• 1:41:42
Speaker 1: stroking his whiskers. Now you're asking me. I did know once,
• 1:41:47
Speaker 1: only I've sort of forgotten, said Christopher Robin carelessly. It's
• 1:41:51
Speaker 1: a fadny thing, said Rabbits. But I've sort of forgotten too,
• 1:41:54
Speaker 1: or that I did know once. I suppose it's just
• 1:41:57
Speaker 1: a pole stuck in the ground. Shot to be a pearl,
• 1:42:01
Speaker 1: said a rabbit, because of calling it a pell. And
• 1:42:04
Speaker 1: if it's a poll, well I should think it would
• 1:42:06
Speaker 1: be sticking in the ground, shouldn't you, because there'd been
• 1:42:09
Speaker 1: nowhere else to stick it. Yes, that's what I thought.
• 1:42:12
Speaker 1: The only thing, said rabbit, is where is it sticking?
• 1:42:18
Speaker 1: That's what we're looking for, said Christopher Robin. They went
• 1:42:21
Speaker 1: back to the others. Piglet was lying on his back,
• 1:42:24
Speaker 1: sleeping peacefully. Ru was washing his face and pause in
• 1:42:27
Speaker 1: the stream, while Kango explained that everybody proudly that this
• 1:42:30
Speaker 1: was the first time he'd ever washed his face himself,
• 1:42:32
Speaker 1: and Al was telling Kanga an interesting anecdote full of
• 1:42:36
Speaker 1: long words like encyclopedia and rhododendron, to which Kango wasn't listening.
• 1:42:41
Speaker 1: I don't hold with all this washing, grumbled eaw, this
• 1:42:45
Speaker 1: modern behind the ears nonsense. What do you think, Pooh Pooh,
• 1:42:51
Speaker 1: said Pooh? I think, but we shall never know what
• 1:42:55
Speaker 1: Pooh thought. For there came a sudden squeak from Rue,
• 1:42:57
Speaker 1: a splash, and a loud cry of alone arm from Kanger.
• 1:43:01
Speaker 1: So much for washing, said he, orl Rule's falling in,
• 1:43:06
Speaker 1: cried Rabbit, and he and Christopher Robin came rushing down
• 1:43:08
Speaker 1: to the rescue. Look at me swimming? Sweeped Roue from
• 1:43:11
Speaker 1: the middle of his pool and was hurried down a
• 1:43:13
Speaker 1: waterfall into the next pool. Are you all right, ro Dea,
• 1:43:16
Speaker 1: called kangar anxiously, Yes, said Ruy, look at me swim
• 1:43:19
Speaker 1: Rouf and down he went over to the next waterfall,
• 1:43:22
Speaker 1: into another pool. Everybody was doing something to help. Piglet,
• 1:43:25
Speaker 1: wide awake, suddenly was jumping up and down and making
• 1:43:28
Speaker 1: oh I say noises. Al was explaining that in a
• 1:43:31
Speaker 1: case of sudden and temporary immersion, the important thing was
• 1:43:34
Speaker 1: to keep the head above water. Kanger was jumping along
• 1:43:37
Speaker 1: the bank, saying, are you sure you're all right? Ro Dea,
• 1:43:40
Speaker 1: to which Rue, from whatever pool he was in at
• 1:43:41
Speaker 1: the moment, was answering, look at by swimming Eol had
• 1:43:45
Speaker 1: turned round and hung his tail over the first pool
• 1:43:47
Speaker 1: into which Rue fell, and when his back to the accident,
• 1:43:50
Speaker 1: was grumbling quietly to himself and saying, all this washing,
• 1:43:54
Speaker 1: but curch on to my tail, little Rue, and you'll
• 1:43:57
Speaker 1: be all right. And Christopher Robin and ra came hurrying
• 1:44:00
Speaker 1: past your and be calling out to the others in
• 1:44:02
Speaker 1: front of them. All right, Rue, I'm coming, called Cristoph Robin.
• 1:44:06
Speaker 1: Get something across the stream, blower down. Some of your
• 1:44:08
Speaker 1: fellows called rabbit. But Poo was getting something two pools
• 1:44:13
Speaker 1: below Rue. He was standing with a long pole and
• 1:44:15
Speaker 1: his paws, and Kanga came up and took one end
• 1:44:18
Speaker 1: of it, and between them they held it across the
• 1:44:20
Speaker 1: lower parts of the pool, and Dru, still bubbling proudly swimming,
• 1:44:24
Speaker 1: drifted up against it and climbed out.
• 1:44:26
Speaker 3: Did you see me swimming?
• 1:44:27
Speaker 1: Squeaked through excitedly, while Kanga scolded him and wrapped him down.
• 1:44:30
Speaker 3: Poo, did you say we swimming? Let's called swimmy? When
• 1:44:32
Speaker 3: I was Donny Rubby, did you say what I was?
• 1:44:34
Speaker 3: Dowry swimmy? I say, piggot, what do you think it was?
• 1:44:38
  Speaker 1: Simmy swimming?
• 1:44:38
  Speaker 3: Chris Rubby?
• 1:44:39
Speaker 1: Did you silly? The Christopher Robin wasn't listening. He was
• 1:44:43
Speaker 1: looking at Pooh Pooh. He said, where did you find
• 1:44:47
Speaker 1: that pole. Pooh looked at the pole in his hands.
• 1:44:52
Speaker 1: I just found it, he said. I thought it ought
• 1:44:56
Speaker 1: to be useful, but just picked it up. Poo, said
• 1:45:00
Speaker 1: christ Robin solemnly. The expedition is over. You have found
• 1:45:06
Speaker 1: the north pole, Oh, said Pooh. Iore was sitting with
• 1:45:13
Speaker 1: his tail in the water when they all got back
• 1:45:14
Speaker 1: to him. Tail rude to be quick, somebody, he said,
• 1:45:18
Speaker 1: my tail's getting cold. I don't want to mention it,
• 1:45:23
Speaker 1: but I just mention it. I don't want to complain,
• 1:45:27
Speaker 1: but here it is. My tail's cold. Who I am,
• 1:45:32
Speaker 1: squeaked ru Oh, there you are.
• 1:45:35
Speaker 3: Did you see me swimming?
• 1:45:37
Speaker 1: Eol took his tail out of the water and swished
• 1:45:40
Speaker 1: it from side to side as I expected, he said,
• 1:45:45
Speaker 1: lost all feeling numbed it. It's what it's done. Numbed it. Well,
• 1:45:51
Speaker 1: as long as nobody minds well, I suppose it's all right,
• 1:45:55
Speaker 1: poor old dear. I'll driy it for you, said Christer Robin,
• 1:45:58
Speaker 1: and he took out his handkerchief rubbed it up. Thank you,
• 1:46:02
Speaker 1: Christopher Robin, you're the only one who seems to understand
• 1:46:06
Speaker 1: about tales. They don't think that's what the matter with
• 1:46:11
Speaker 1: some of these others, they have no imagination. The tale
• 1:46:16
  Speaker 1: isn't a tail to them. It's just a little bit
• 1:46:19
Speaker 1: extra at the back. Never mind it, you, said Christoph Robin,
• 1:46:23
Speaker 1: rubbing his hardest. Is that better? It's feeling more like
• 1:46:27
Speaker 1: a tale. Perhaps it belongs again, if you know what
• 1:46:32
Speaker 1: I mean. Hellui all, said Pooh, coming up to them
• 1:46:36
Speaker 1: with his pole. Hello Pooh, thank you for asking, But
• 1:46:41
Speaker 1: I shall be able to use it again in a
• 1:46:43
Speaker 1: day or two. Here's what, said Pooh? What we are
• 1:46:47
Speaker 1: talking about? I wasn't talking about anything, said Pooh, looking puzzled.
• 1:46:54
Speaker 1: My mistake again. I thought you were saying how sorry
• 1:46:58
Speaker 1: you were about my tail being all numb? And could
• 1:47:02
Speaker 1: you do anything to help, loo, said Pooh. That wasn't me,
• 1:47:06
Speaker 1: he said, he thought for a little and suggested help
• 1:47:09
Speaker 1: the Perhaps it was somebody else. Well, thank him for
• 1:47:15
Speaker 1: me when you see him. Pooh looked anxiously at Christopher Robin.
• 1:47:19
Speaker 1: Please found the north pole, said Christoph Robin. Isn't that lovely?
• 1:47:23
Speaker 1: Poo looked modestly down. Is that it? Said he? Or? Yes,
• 1:47:28
Speaker 1: said Christoph Robin. Is that what we were looking for? Yes,
• 1:47:34
Speaker 1: said Pooh? Oh said he or well? Anyhow, it didn't rain,
• 1:47:42
Speaker 1: he said. They stuck the pole in the ground, and
• 1:47:45
Speaker 1: Christoph Robin tied a message onto it, North Pole Dick
• 1:47:49
Speaker 1: sover reed by Pooh Pooh found it. Then they all
• 1:47:54
Speaker 1: went home again, And I think, but I'm not quite sure,
• 1:47:58
Speaker 1: that Rue had a hot bar and went straight to bed.
• 1:48:01
Speaker 1: But Pooh went back to his own house, and, feeling
• 1:48:04
Speaker 1: very proud of what he'd done, had a little something
• 1:48:08
Speaker 1: to revive himself. End of chapter eight. Chapter nine, in
• 1:48:16
Speaker 1: which Piglet is entirely surrounded by water. It rained, and
• 1:48:22
Speaker 1: it rained, and it rained. Piglet told himself that never
• 1:48:27
Speaker 1: in all his life, and he was Goodness knows how
• 1:48:30
Speaker 1: old three was it? Four, never had he seen so
• 1:48:35
Speaker 1: much rain, days and days and days. If only, he thought,
• 1:48:42
Speaker 1: as he looked out at the window.
• 1:48:43
Speaker 4: I've been in Poe's house, of Christopher Rowan's house, or
• 1:48:46
Speaker 4: Rabbit's house when it began to rain, then I should
• 1:48:49
Speaker 4: have had company all this time, instead of being here
• 1:48:51
Speaker 4: all alone with nothing to do except under winn it
• 1:48:54
  Speaker 4: will stop.
• 1:48:55
Speaker 1: Had he imagined himself, with Pooh saying did you ever
• 1:48:58
Speaker 1: see such rain? And Poo's saying, who isn't it awful?
• 1:49:03
Speaker 1: Piglet and piglets, saying.
• 1:49:05
Speaker 3: I wonder how it is of a Christopher Robin's way.
• 1:49:08
Speaker 1: And Pooh's saying, I should think poor old rabbit is
• 1:49:10
Speaker 1: about flooded out by this time, it would have been
• 1:49:13
Speaker 1: jolly to talk like this. And really it wasn't much
• 1:49:16
Speaker 1: good having anything exciting like floods if you couldn't share
• 1:49:19
Speaker 1: them with somebody, For it was rather exciting. The little
• 1:49:23
Speaker 1: dry ditches in which Piglet had nosed about so often
• 1:49:25
Speaker 1: had become streams. The little streams across which he'd splashed
• 1:49:29
Speaker 1: through rivers, and the river between whose steep banks they
• 1:49:32
Speaker 1: played so happily, had sprawled out of his own bed,
• 1:49:35
Speaker 1: and was taking up so much room everywhere. The people
• 1:49:37
Speaker 1: was beginning to wonder whether it be coming into his
• 1:49:39
Speaker 1: bed soon. It's a little anxious, he said to himself, to.
• 1:49:44
Speaker 4: Be a very small animal. It tiredly surrounded by water.
• 1:49:48
Speaker 4: Christopher Robin and Pooh could escape by climbing trees, and
• 1:49:51
Speaker 4: can they could escape by jumping? And rabbit could escape by.
• 1:49:54
Speaker 1: Burrowing, and how can escape by flying? And here or
• 1:49:58
Speaker 1: can escape by bye by making a loud noise until rescued?
• 1:50:03
Speaker 1: And here am I surrounded by water?
• 1:50:06
  Speaker 3: And I can't do anything.
• 1:50:09
Speaker 1: He went on raining, and every day the water got
• 1:50:11
Speaker 1: a little higher, until now was nearly up to Piglet's window,
• 1:50:15
Speaker 1: and still he hadn't done anything. There's Po, he thought
• 1:50:19
  Speaker 1: to himself.
• 1:50:20
Speaker 3: Po has a much.
• 1:50:21
Speaker 1: Brain, but he never comes twenty harm. He does silly things,
• 1:50:25
Speaker 1: so they turn out right.
• 1:50:26
Speaker 4: There's Owl al has exactually got brain, but he knows
• 1:50:31
Speaker 4: things here and all the right thing to do when
• 1:50:33
  Speaker 4: surrounded by water.
• 1:50:35
  Speaker 3: There's Rabbit.
• 1:50:36
Speaker 4: He hasn't learned in bugs, but he can always think
• 1:50:39
Speaker 4: of a clever plan. There's Kanger. She isn't clever. Kanger isn't,
• 1:50:44
Speaker 4: but she'd be so anxious about Rowe that she would
• 1:50:46
Speaker 4: do a good thing to do without thinking about it.
• 1:50:49
Speaker 4: And then there's Eel, And Eel is so miserable anyhow,
• 1:50:52
Speaker 4: that he wouldn't mind about this. But I wonder what
• 1:50:56
Speaker 4: Christopher Robin would do.
• 1:50:58
Speaker 1: Then suddenly he remer a story which Christopher Robin had
• 1:51:01
Speaker 1: told him about a man on a desert island who's
• 1:51:04
Speaker 1: written something in a bottle and thrown it in the sea.
• 1:51:07
Speaker 1: A Piglet thought that if he wrote something in the
• 1:51:08
Speaker 1: bottle and threw it in the water, perhaps somebody would
• 1:51:11
Speaker 1: come and rescue him. He left the window and began
• 1:51:14
Speaker 1: to search his house, all of it that wasn't underwater,
• 1:51:17
Speaker 1: And at last he found a pencil, a small piece
• 1:51:19
Speaker 1: of dry paper, and a bottle with a cork to it,
• 1:51:22
Speaker 1: and he wrote it on one side of the paper,
• 1:51:24
Speaker 1: help pivot me, and on the other side, hits me
• 1:51:30
Speaker 1: pivot help help. Then he put the paper in the bottle,
• 1:51:34
Speaker 1: and he corked the bottle up as tightly as he could,
• 1:51:36
Speaker 1: and he leant out of his window as far as
• 1:51:38
Speaker 1: he could lean without falling in, and he threw the
• 1:51:40
Speaker 1: bottle as far as he could throw splash, And then
• 1:51:45
Speaker 1: a little while it bogged up again on the water,
• 1:51:47
Speaker 1: and he watched it floating slowly away in the distance
• 1:51:50
Speaker 1: as his eyes ate with looking, and sometimes he thought
• 1:51:53
Speaker 1: it was the bottle, and sometimes he thought it was
• 1:51:56
Speaker 1: just a ripple on the water which he was following.
• 1:51:59
Speaker 1: And then suddenly he knew that he would never see
• 1:52:00
Speaker 1: it again, and that he'd done all that he could
• 1:52:03
Speaker 1: do to save himself. So now he thought, somebody else
• 1:52:08
Speaker 1: will have to do something, and I hope they'll do
• 1:52:10
Speaker 1: it soon, because if they don't, I shall have to
• 1:52:13
Speaker 1: swim which I can't, so I hope they do it soon.
• 1:52:18
Speaker 1: And then he gave a very long sigh and said.
• 1:52:21
Speaker 3: Ah, I wish Pooh here, it's so much more friendly
• 1:52:27
  Speaker 3: with two.
• 1:52:29
Speaker 1: When the rain began, Pooh was asleep. It rained and
• 1:52:32
Speaker 1: it rained, and it rained, and he slept and he
• 1:52:35
Speaker 1: slept and he slept. He'd had a timing day. You
• 1:52:40
Speaker 1: remember how he discovered the North Pole. Well, he was
• 1:52:42
Speaker 1: so proud of this. Did he ask Christopher Robin if
• 1:52:44
Speaker 1: there were any other poles, such as a bear of
• 1:52:46
Speaker 1: little brain might discover. There's a South Pole, said Christopher Robin,
• 1:52:51
Speaker 1: and I expect there's an East Pole and the West Pole,
• 1:52:55
Speaker 1: though people don't like talking about them. Who was very
• 1:52:58
Speaker 1: excited when he heard this, and suggested that they should
• 1:53:01
Speaker 1: have an expedition to discover the East Pole. But Christopher
• 1:53:04
Speaker 1: Robin had thought of something else to do with Kanger,
• 1:53:06
Speaker 1: so Pooh went out to discover the East Pole by himself.
• 1:53:10
Speaker 1: Whether he discovered it or not, I forget. But he
• 1:53:13
Speaker 1: was so tired when he got home that in the
• 1:53:15
Speaker 1: very middle of his supper, after he'd been eating for
• 1:53:17
Speaker 1: a little more than half an hour, he fell fast
• 1:53:19
Speaker 1: asleep in his chair and slept and slept and slept.
• 1:53:24
Speaker 1: Then suddenly he was dreaming. He was at the East Pole.
• 1:53:28
Speaker 1: There was a very cold pole with the coldest sort
• 1:53:30
Speaker 1: of snow and ice all over it. He'd found a
• 1:53:33
Speaker 1: bee hive to sleep in, but there wasn't room from
• 1:53:35
Speaker 1: his legs, so he left them outside, and wild woozles
• 1:53:38
Speaker 1: such as inhabit the East Pole came and nibbled all
• 1:53:41
Speaker 1: the fur off his legs to make nests for their young.
• 1:53:44
Speaker 1: And the more they nibbled, the cold of his legs got,
• 1:53:46
Speaker 1: until suddenly he woke up with him Oh, And there
• 1:53:50
Speaker 1: he was sitting in his chair with his feet in
• 1:53:52
Speaker 1: the water, had water all round him. He splashed to
• 1:53:57
Speaker 1: his door and looked out. This is serious, said Pooh.
• 1:54:02
Speaker 1: I must have an escape. So he took his largest
• 1:54:06
Speaker 1: pot of honey and escaped with it to a broad
• 1:54:08
Speaker 1: branch of his tree, well above the water. And then
• 1:54:10
Speaker 1: he climbed down again and escaped with another pot. And
• 1:54:13
Speaker 1: when the whole escape was finished, there was Pooh sitting
• 1:54:15
Speaker 1: on his branch, dangling his legs, and there beside him
• 1:54:19
Speaker 1: were ten pots of honey. Two days later there was
• 1:54:24
Speaker 1: Pooh sitting on his branch dangling his legs, and there
• 1:54:26
Speaker 1: beside him were four pots of honey. Three days later
• 1:54:31
Speaker 1: there was Pooh sitting on his branch, dangling his legs,
• 1:54:34
Speaker 1: and there beside him was one pot of honey. Four
• 1:54:39
Speaker 1: days later there was Pooh, and it was on the
• 1:54:42
Speaker 1: morning of the fourth day the piglet's bottle came floating
• 1:54:44
Speaker 1: past him, and with one loud cry of honey, Pooh
• 1:54:48
Speaker 1: plunged into the water, seized the bottle, and struggled back
• 1:54:51
Speaker 1: to his tree again. Bother said Pooh as he opened it,
• 1:54:56
Speaker 1: all that written for nothing? What's that bit of poop doing?
• 1:55:01
Speaker 1: He took it out and looked at it. It's a message,
• 1:55:05
Speaker 1: he said to himself. That's what it is. And that
• 1:55:08
Speaker 1: letter is a pee, and so is that, and so
• 1:55:12
Speaker 1: is that and pee means pooh. So it's a very
• 1:55:16
Speaker 1: important message to me, and I can't read it. I
• 1:55:21
Speaker 1: must find Christopher, Robin or Owl or Piglet, one of
• 1:55:24
Speaker 1: those clever readers who can read things, and they will
• 1:55:27
Speaker 1: tell me what this message means. Only I can't swim.
• 1:55:32
Speaker 1: Bother then he had an idea, and I think that
• 1:55:36
Speaker 1: for a bear of very little brain, it was a
• 1:55:39
Speaker 1: good idea. He said to himself. If a bottle can float,
• 1:55:44
Speaker 1: then a jar can float. And if a jar floats,
• 1:55:48
Speaker 1: I can sit on the top of it, if it's
• 1:55:49
Speaker 1: a very big jar. So he took his biggest jar
• 1:55:52
Speaker 1: and cocked it up. All boats have to have a name,
• 1:55:56
Speaker 1: he said, so I shall call mine the floating Bear.
• 1:56:02
Speaker 1: And with these words he dropped his boat into the
• 1:56:04
Speaker 1: water and jumped in after it. For a little while,
• 1:56:07
Speaker 1: Poo and the floating bear were uncertains to which of
• 1:56:10
Speaker 1: them was meant to be on the top, But after
• 1:56:12
Speaker 1: trying one or two different positions, they settled down with
• 1:56:15
Speaker 1: the floating bear underneath, and Pooh triumphantly astride it, paddling
• 1:56:19
Speaker 1: vigorously with his feet. Christopher Robbin lived at the very
• 1:56:23
Speaker 1: top of the forest. It rained, and it rained, and
• 1:56:25
Speaker 1: it rained, but the water couldn't come up to his house.
• 1:56:29
Speaker 1: It was rather jolly to look down into the valleys
• 1:56:31
Speaker 1: and see the water all around him. But it rained
• 1:56:33
Speaker 1: so hard that he stayed indoors most of the time
• 1:56:35
Speaker 1: and thought about things. Every morning he went out with
• 1:56:38
Speaker 1: his umbrella and put a stick in the place where
• 1:56:40
Speaker 1: the water came up to And every next morning he
• 1:56:43
Speaker 1: went out and couldn't see a stick anymore, so he
• 1:56:45
Speaker 1: put another stick in the place where the water came
• 1:56:47
Speaker 1: up to, and then he walked home again, and each
• 1:56:50
Speaker 1: morning he had a shout of way to walk than
• 1:56:51
Speaker 1: he had the morning before. On the morning of the
• 1:56:53
Speaker 1: fifth day, he saw the water all around him and
• 1:56:56
Speaker 1: knew that for the first time in his life he
• 1:56:58
Speaker 1: was on a real eyeland, which was very exciting. It
• 1:57:02
Speaker 1: was on this morning that owl came flying over the
• 1:57:05
Speaker 1: water to say how do you do to his friend
• 1:57:08
Speaker 1: Christopher Robin. I say how, said Christopher Robin. Isn't this fun?
• 1:57:12
Speaker 1: I'm on an island. The atmospheric conditions have been very unfavorable,
• 1:57:17
Speaker 1: Lily said, al but what it has been raining? Explained
• 1:57:22
Speaker 1: Al yes, said christ to Robin. It has. The flood
• 1:57:26
Speaker 1: level has reached an unprecedented height. The who there's a
• 1:57:31
Speaker 1: lot of water about, explained Al yes, said Christopher Robin.
• 1:57:35
Speaker 1: There is who Well, the prospects are rapidly becoming more favorable.
• 1:57:39
Speaker 1: At any moment, have you seen Pooh, No, at any moment.
• 1:57:43
Speaker 1: I hope he's all right, said Christopher Robin. Have been
• 1:57:45
Speaker 1: wondering about him. I expect piglets with him. Do you
• 1:57:48
Speaker 1: think they're all right? Al, I expect Sue, you'll see
• 1:57:52
Speaker 1: at any moment, do go and see how, because Poo
• 1:57:54
Speaker 1: hasn't got very much brain, and he might do something silly,
• 1:57:57
Speaker 1: and I do love him, so ow to see how.
• 1:58:01
Speaker 1: That's all right, said Al, I'll go back directly, and
• 1:58:04
Speaker 1: he flew off. In a little while he was back again. Pooh,
• 1:58:09
Speaker 1: isn't there, he said, Not there, He has been there.
• 1:58:15
Speaker 1: He has been sitting on a branch of his tree
• 1:58:17
Speaker 1: outside his house with nine pots of honey. But he
• 1:58:20
Speaker 1: is there now, Oh Pooh, cried Christopher Robin.
• 1:58:24
  Speaker 3: Where are you?
• 1:58:26
Speaker 1: Who I am? Said a growy voice behind him Pooh.
• 1:58:31
Speaker 1: The rushed into each other's arms. How did you get here, Pooh?
• 1:58:34
Speaker 1: Asked Christopher Robin, when he was ready to talk again.
• 1:58:37
Speaker 1: On my boot, said Pooh, proudly. I had a very
• 1:58:40
Speaker 1: important message sent me in a bottle and hurried to
• 1:58:43
Speaker 1: having got some water in my eyes, I couldn't read it,
• 1:58:46
Speaker 1: so I brought it to you on my boat. With
• 1:58:49
Speaker 1: these proud words. He gave Christopher Robbin the message. But
• 1:58:53
Speaker 1: it's from piglets, cried Christopher Robin when he'd read it.
• 1:58:57
Speaker 1: Isn't there anything about Pooh in it? Asked bear. Looking
• 1:59:00
Speaker 1: over his shoulder, Christopher Robin read the message aloud, ooh,
• 1:59:05
Speaker 1: are those peas piglets? I thought they were poos. We
• 1:59:08
Speaker 1: must rescue him. At once, I thought he was with you, Pooh, Al,
• 1:59:12
Speaker 1: could you rescue him on your back? I don't think so,
• 1:59:16
Speaker 1: said Al, after grave thought. It is doubleful of the
• 1:59:19
Speaker 1: necessarily dorsal muscles. Then would you fly to him at
• 1:59:22
Speaker 1: once and say that rescue is coming? And Pooh and
• 1:59:24
Speaker 1: I will think of a rescue and come as quick
• 1:59:26
Speaker 1: as ever we can. Don't talk. Owl go on quick
• 1:59:31
Speaker 1: and still thinking of something to say, Owl flew off
• 1:59:34
Speaker 1: now then, Pooh, said Christopher Robin. Where's your boat? I
• 1:59:38
Speaker 1: ought to sue, explained Pooh as they walked down to
• 1:59:41
Speaker 1: the shore of the island. But it isn't just an
• 1:59:44
Speaker 1: ordinary sort of boat. Sometimes it's a boat, and sometimes
• 1:59:48
Speaker 1: it's more of an accident. It all depends depends on
• 1:59:53
Speaker 1: what on whether I'm on the top of it or
• 1:59:56
Speaker 1: underneath it. Oh, well, where is it, uh, said Pooh,
• 2:00:01
Speaker 1: pointing proudly to the floating bear. It wasn't what Christopher
• 2:00:05
Speaker 1: Robbin expected, and the more he looked at it, the
• 2:00:07
Speaker 1: more he thought, what a brave and clever bear Pooh was.
• 2:00:11
Speaker 1: And the more Christopher Robbin thought this, the more Pooh
• 2:00:14
Speaker 1: looked modestly down his nose and tried to pretend he wasn't.
• 2:00:18
Speaker 1: But it's too small for two of us, said Christopher Robbins,
• 2:00:21
Speaker 1: sadly three of us with piglet. That makes it smaller. Still, Oh,
• 2:00:26
Speaker 1: Pooh bear, what shall we do? And then this bear,
• 2:00:32
Speaker 1: poo bear, Winnie the Pooh, f O P Friend of piglets,
• 2:00:36
  Speaker 1: r C Rabbit's companion, pe D Pole, discoverer E C
• 2:00:40
Speaker 1: and T F Eels, comforter and tail finder. In fact,
• 2:00:43
Speaker 1: Pooh himself said something so clever that Christopher Robin could
• 2:00:47
Speaker 1: only look at him with mouth open and eyes staring,
• 2:00:50
Speaker 1: wondering if this was really the bear of very little Brain,
• 2:00:53
Speaker 1: whom he known and loved so long. We might go
• 2:00:57
Speaker 1: in your umbrella, said Pooh. Hm hmm. We might go
• 2:01:03
Speaker 1: in your umbrella, said Pooh. Humph. We might go in
• 2:01:10
Speaker 1: your umbrella, said Pooh. For suddenly Christopher Robbins saw that
• 2:01:15
Speaker 1: they might. He opened his umbrella and put it point
• 2:01:19
Speaker 1: downwards in the water. It floated, but wobbled Pooh got in.
• 2:01:23
Speaker 1: He was just beginning to say that it was all
• 2:01:25
Speaker 1: right now. When he found that it wasn't so, after
• 2:01:27
Speaker 1: a short drink, which he didn't really want, he waded
• 2:01:30
Speaker 1: back to Christopher Robin, and they both got in together,
• 2:01:33
Speaker 1: and it wobbled no longer. I shall call this boat
• 2:01:37
Speaker 1: the Brain of Pooh, said Christopher Robin, And the Brain
• 2:01:41
Speaker 1: of Pooh set sail forthwith in a southwesterly direction, revolving gracefully.
• 2:01:46
Speaker 1: You can imagine Piglet's joy when at last the ship
• 2:01:49
Speaker 1: came inside of him. In after years, he liked to
• 2:01:51
Speaker 1: think that he'd been in very great danger during the
• 2:01:53
Speaker 1: terrible flood, but the only danger he'd really been in
• 2:01:55
Speaker 1: was in the last half hour of his imprisonment, when Owl,
• 2:01:58
Speaker 1: who had just flown up, sat on a branch of
• 2:01:59
Speaker 1: his tree to comfort him. I told him a very
• 2:02:01
Speaker 1: long story about an aunt who had once laid a
• 2:02:03
Speaker 1: seagull's egg by mistake. And the story went on and on,
• 2:02:06
Speaker 1: rather like a sentence, until Piglet, who was listening out
• 2:02:09
Speaker 1: of his window without much hope, went to sleep quietly
• 2:02:11
Speaker 1: and naturally, slipping slowly out of the window towards the water,
• 2:02:14
Speaker 1: until he was only hanging on by his toes, at
• 2:02:16
Speaker 1: which moment. Luckily, a sudden loud squawk from al, which
• 2:02:19
Speaker 1: was really part of the story, being what his aunt said,
• 2:02:21
Speaker 1: woke the piglet up and just gave him time to
• 2:02:24
Speaker 1: jerk himself back into Satie and say, how interesting and
• 2:02:26
Speaker 1: did she when? Well, you can imagine his joy when
• 2:02:30
Speaker 1: at last he saw the good ship brain of Pooh,
• 2:02:32
Speaker 1: Captain c Robin, first mate pea Bear coming over the
• 2:02:36
Speaker 1: sea to rescue him, Christopher Robin and Pooh again. And
• 2:02:41
Speaker 1: as that is really the end of the story, and
• 2:02:44
Speaker 1: I'm very tired after that last sentence, I think I
• 2:02:48
Speaker 1: shall stop there. Who end of chapter nine, Chapter ten,
• 2:02:58
Speaker 1: in which Christopher Robin gives a party and we say goodbye.
• 2:03:05
Speaker 1: One day, when the sun had come back over the forest,
• 2:03:08
Speaker 1: bringing with it the scent of May, and all the
• 2:03:10
Speaker 1: streams of the forest were tinkling happily to find themselves
• 2:03:13
Speaker 1: their own pretty shape again, and the little pools lay
• 2:03:16
Speaker 1: dreaming of the life they'd seen and the big things
• 2:03:18
Speaker 1: they'd done. And in the warmth and quiet of the forest,
• 2:03:21
Speaker 1: the cuckoo was trying over his voice carefully and listening
• 2:03:24
Speaker 1: to see if he liked it, and woodpigeons were complaining
• 2:03:27
Speaker 1: gently to themselves in their lazy, comfortable way that it
• 2:03:30
Speaker 1: was the other fellow's fault, but it didn't matter very
• 2:03:32
Speaker 1: much on such a day as this. Christopher Robin whistled
• 2:03:35
Speaker 1: in a special way he had, and Al came flying
• 2:03:40
Speaker 1: out of the hundred acre wood to see what was wanted.
• 2:03:43
Speaker 1: Owl said, Christer Robin. I'm going to give a party.
• 2:03:47
Speaker 1: You are, are? You? Said Al? And it's to be
• 2:03:50
Speaker 1: a special sort of party because it's because of what
• 2:03:52
Speaker 1: Pooh did when he did what he did to save
• 2:03:54
Speaker 1: Piglet from the flood. Ooh, that's what it's for, is it?
• 2:03:59
Speaker 1: Said Al. Yes, so we tell Pooh as quickly as
• 2:04:01
Speaker 1: he can and all the others, because it'll be tomorrow. Ooh,
• 2:04:05
Speaker 1: it will, will it, said Al, still being as helpful
• 2:04:08
Speaker 1: as possible. So will you go and tell them? Owl?
• 2:04:12
Speaker 1: Al tried to think of something very wise to say,
• 2:04:15
Speaker 1: but couldn't, so he flew off to tell the others,
• 2:04:18
Speaker 1: and the first person he told was Pooh Pooh. He said,
• 2:04:22
Speaker 1: Christopher Robin is giving a party. Ooh, said Pooh, And then,
• 2:04:28
Speaker 1: seeing the towel, expected him to say something else, he said,
• 2:04:31
Speaker 1: will there be those little cake things with pink sugar icing.
• 2:04:35
Speaker 1: Ol felt that it was rather beneath him to talk
• 2:04:37
Speaker 1: about little cake things with pink sugar icing, so he
• 2:04:40
Speaker 1: told Poo exactly what Christopher Robin had said, had flew
• 2:04:43
Speaker 1: off to Eel A party for me, thought Poot himself,
• 2:04:48
Speaker 1: how grand, And he began to wonder if all the
• 2:04:51
Speaker 1: other animals would know that it was a special Pooh party,
• 2:04:54
Speaker 1: and if Christopher Robin had told them about the floating
• 2:04:56
Speaker 1: bear and the brain of Poo and all the wonderful
• 2:04:59
Speaker 1: ships he'd invented and sailed on, and if began to
• 2:05:01
Speaker 1: think how awful it would be if everybody had forgotten
• 2:05:04
Speaker 1: about it, and nobody quite knew what the party was for.
• 2:05:07
Speaker 1: And the more he thought like this, the more the
• 2:05:09
Speaker 1: party got muddled in his mind, like a dream when
• 2:05:11
Speaker 1: nothing goes right. And the dream began to sing itself
• 2:05:14
Speaker 1: over in his head until it became a sort of song.
• 2:05:17
Speaker 1: It was an anxious Pooh song. Three cheers for Pooh?
• 2:05:23
Speaker 1: For who for Pooh? Why? What did he do? He thought,
• 2:05:27
Speaker 1: you knew? He saved his friend from a wedding. Three
• 2:05:30
Speaker 1: cheers for Bear? For where? For Bear? He couldn't swim,
• 2:05:34
Speaker 1: but he rescued him. He rescued. Who Oh, listen do
• 2:05:38
Speaker 1: I'm talking of Pooh woo of Pooh. I'm sorry, I'll
• 2:05:42
Speaker 1: keep forgetting well, Pooh was a bear of enormous brain,
• 2:05:47
Speaker 1: just say it again, of enormous brain, with enormous what well?
• 2:05:51
Speaker 1: He utter lot and I don't know if he could
• 2:05:53
Speaker 1: swim or not, but he managed to float on a
• 2:05:56
Speaker 1: sort of boat, on a sort of what well, a
• 2:05:59
Speaker 1: sort of pot. So now let's give him three hearty cheers.
• 2:06:02
Speaker 1: So now let's give him three hearty witches. I hope
• 2:06:06
Speaker 1: he'll be with us for years and years and grow
• 2:06:08
Speaker 1: in health and wisdom and riches. Three cheers for Pooh,
• 2:06:13
Speaker 1: for who for Pooh, three cheers for Bear, for where
• 2:06:18
Speaker 1: for Bear? Three cheers for the wonderful Winnie the Pooh.
• 2:06:23
Speaker 1: Just tell me, somebody what did he do? While this
• 2:06:27
Speaker 1: was going on inside him, Awl was talking to eol iil,
• 2:06:32
Speaker 1: said Al Christopher Robbins, giving a party. Very interesting, said Earl.
• 2:06:38
Speaker 1: I suppose they'll be sending me down the odd bits
• 2:06:41
Speaker 1: which got trodden on, kind and thoughtful, not at all,
• 2:06:46
Speaker 1: don't mention it. There's an invitation for you. What's that like?
• 2:06:52
Speaker 1: An invitation? Yes? I heard you? Who dropped it. This
• 2:06:57
Speaker 1: is the anything to eat. It's asking to the party
• 2:07:00
Speaker 1: to borrow. Eo shook his head slowly. You mean Piglet,
• 2:07:06
Speaker 1: a little fellow with the excited ears. It's Piglet. I'll
• 2:07:10
Speaker 1: tell him, do do, said Al, getting quite fussy. It's you,
• 2:07:15
Speaker 1: Are you sure? Of course? I'm sure, Christoph Roberts said,
• 2:07:19
Speaker 1: all of them, Tell all of them, all of them
• 2:07:23
Speaker 1: except Ere, All of them, said Al sulkily. Ah said Eol,
• 2:07:30
Speaker 1: A mistake, no doubt. But still I shall come. Only
• 2:07:36
Speaker 1: don't blame me if it rains. But it didn't rain.
• 2:07:41
Speaker 1: Christopher Robbin had made a long table out of some
• 2:07:43
Speaker 1: long pieces of wood, and they all sat round it.
• 2:07:46
Speaker 1: Christopher Robbins sat at one end, and Poo sat at
• 2:07:49
Speaker 1: the other. And between them on one side were Owl
• 2:07:51
Speaker 1: and Ere and Piglet. And between them on the other
• 2:07:53
Speaker 1: side were Rabbit and ruined Kanga, and all Rabbit's friends
• 2:07:56
Speaker 1: of relations spread themselves about on the grass and waited hopefully,
• 2:07:59
Speaker 1: and anybody spoke to them, or dropped anything or asked
• 2:08:02
Speaker 1: them the time. He was the first party to which
• 2:08:05
Speaker 1: ru had ever been, and he was very excited. As
• 2:08:08
Speaker 1: soon as ever they sat down, he began to talk.
• 2:08:10
Speaker 1: Hi boo, he squeaked Hello, Rue said pooh. Ru jumped
• 2:08:15
Speaker 1: up and down in his seat for a little while,
• 2:08:16
Speaker 1: and then began again, Hi pigot. He squeaked pigot, waved
• 2:08:20
Speaker 1: to Poor at him, being too busy to say anything. Hello,
• 2:08:23
Speaker 1: We all said Ru. He or nodded gloomily at him.
• 2:08:28
Speaker 1: It will rain soon, you see if it doesn't, he said,
• 2:08:33
Speaker 1: Ru looked to see if it didn't, and it didn't,
• 2:08:35
Speaker 1: so he said hello. Well, and al said who my
• 2:08:39
Speaker 1: little fellow in a kindly way, and went on telling
• 2:08:42
Speaker 1: Christopher Robin about an accident which had nearly had been
• 2:08:44
Speaker 1: to a friend of his whom Christopher Robin didn't know.
• 2:08:47
Speaker 1: And Kanka said to Rue, drink up your milk first, dear,
• 2:08:50
Speaker 1: and talk afterwards. So Rue, who was drinking his milk,
• 2:08:53
Speaker 1: tried to say that he could do both at once
• 2:08:55
Speaker 1: and had to be patted on the back and drive
• 2:08:57
Speaker 1: for quite a long time afterwards. When they nearly eaten enough,
• 2:09:01
Speaker 1: Christopher Robin banged on the table with a spoon and
• 2:09:03
Speaker 1: everybody stopped talking. I was very silent, except Brew, who
• 2:09:06
Speaker 1: was just finishing allowed attack of hiccups and trying to
• 2:09:09
Speaker 1: look as if it was one of Rabbit's relations. This party,
• 2:09:12
Speaker 1: to Christopher Robin is a party because of what someone did,
• 2:09:15
Speaker 1: and we all know who it was, and it's his
• 2:09:18
Speaker 1: party because of what he did. And I've got a
• 2:09:20
Speaker 1: present for him, and here it is. Then he felt
• 2:09:24
Speaker 1: about a little and whispered where is it? While he
• 2:09:28
Speaker 1: was looking your coughed in an impressive way and began
• 2:09:31
Speaker 1: to speak friends. He said, including oddments, it is a
• 2:09:40
Speaker 1: great pleasure, or perhaps i'd better say it has been
• 2:09:44
Speaker 1: a pleasure so far to see you at my party.
• 2:09:49
Speaker 1: What I did was nothing Any of you except Rabbit
• 2:09:55
Speaker 1: and Hewl and Kanger would have done the same. Oh
• 2:09:59
Speaker 1: and pooh. My remarks do not, of course apply to
• 2:10:03
Speaker 1: Piglet and Rue, because they are too small. Any of
• 2:10:07
Speaker 1: you would have done the same. But it just happened
• 2:10:10
Speaker 1: to be me. It was not I need hardly say
• 2:10:15
Speaker 1: with an idea of getting what Christopher Robin is looking
• 2:10:18
Speaker 1: for now. And he put his front leg to his
• 2:10:20
Speaker 1: mouth and said, in a loud whisper.
• 2:10:22
Speaker 5: Try under the table, that I did what I did,
• 2:10:28
Speaker 5: but because I feel that we should all do what
• 2:10:31
Speaker 5: we can to help.
• 2:10:33
Speaker 1: I feel that we should all hear said Rue accidentally, Oh, dear,
• 2:10:37
Speaker 1: said Kanka reproachfully, does it be asked Rue a little surprised.
• 2:10:43
Speaker 1: I see you're talking about Piglet, whispered to Pooh. I
• 2:10:47
Speaker 1: don't know, said Pooh rather dolefully.
• 2:10:50
Speaker 3: I thought it was your party.
• 2:10:53
Speaker 1: I thought it was once. But I suppose it isn't
• 2:10:57
Speaker 1: I continue it with yours and eels, said Pigot, So
• 2:11:00
Speaker 1: would I, said Pooh, said rub again as I was saying,
• 2:11:06
Speaker 1: said he, or loudly and sternly as I was saying,
• 2:11:11
Speaker 1: when I was interrupted by various loud sounds. I feel
• 2:11:16
Speaker 1: that here it is, cried Christopher Robin excitedly. Pass it
• 2:11:20
Speaker 1: down to city old Pooh. It's the Pooh for Pooh,
• 2:11:24
