- 0:00Speaker 1: This is the Ben and Ashley I almost Famous podcast
- 0:03Speaker 1: with iHeartRadio.
- 0:05Speaker 2: This is the almost Famous podcast. We have a very
- 0:07Speaker 2: special guest on, somebody that we just enjoy and we
- 0:10Speaker 2: got to see on this season of The Bachelor. She
- 0:18Speaker 2: I've booked out four hours for this interview because I
- 0:21Speaker 2: just feel like once we start talking, we could never stop.
- 0:24Speaker 2: That's kind of fun, Demmy, don't worry about it. We
- 0:28Speaker 2: actually have like thirty thirty minutes, so it's fine, Demmy.
- 0:31Speaker 2: Welcome to the podcast.
- 0:33Speaker 3: No, oh my gosh. So Debbie, tell us just about
- 0:42Speaker 3: like your day to day life right now. How are
- 0:44Speaker 3: you doing? Because you just told us before getting on
- 0:46Speaker 3: the podcast and it was funny.
- 0:48Speaker 4: Yeah. Well, first of all, Ben, is that a strawberry
- 0:53Speaker 4: banana Prime?
- 0:54Speaker 2: It is?
- 0:54Speaker 3: I just got them sent to me en they send them.
- 0:58Speaker 3: They send so much prime to our house. And Jared's
- 1:01Speaker 3: sass and then he loves being at the gym and
- 1:03Speaker 3: like taking pictures of it.
- 1:05Speaker 4: I like the hydration drinks because they're like nice because
- 1:07Speaker 4: it's like, oh, better than water, I guess. But the
- 1:10Speaker 4: energy drinks I don't drink them, so I just have
- 1:12Speaker 4: these heavy boxes of it.
- 1:14Speaker 3: Those are the same situation. Over here.
- 1:16Speaker 4: Yeah, I've got two on top of my fridge. I'm keeping.
- 1:19Speaker 4: I've got the Alani Kimmid. I'm keeping that one.
- 1:21Speaker 3: Just count Yeah, the kim Maid is super cute.
- 1:23Speaker 4: Wow.
- 1:24Speaker 3: We have the same people sending us stuff and they
- 1:26Speaker 3: and why do they? Because here we are in a
- 1:28Speaker 3: podcast talking about that.
- 1:30Speaker 4: Hey, everyone that comes over, I'm encouraging them to drink
- 1:33Speaker 4: that Prime. I'm like, get it out of my house.
- 1:36Speaker 4: You want to take a box home?
- 1:39Speaker 2: But it is good.
- 1:40Speaker 4: The energy drinks are Actually whenever I do drink them,
- 1:43Speaker 4: I sound super cracked out, like I get I'm talking,
- 1:47Speaker 4: but I have a lot of fun on it, on it,
- 1:50Speaker 4: on it, on the Prime.
- 1:52Speaker 2: Well this is a good segue though, because if you
- 1:54Speaker 2: drink an energy drink, Here's a question I have for
- 1:57Speaker 2: you that just came to my mind that now I'm
- 1:59Speaker 2: super curious about it. If I don't ask it, I'll
- 2:00Speaker 2: be really upset. Do you crochet faster on energy drinks
- 2:06Speaker 2: or not? Ps.
- 2:08Speaker 3: She told us before the podcast started that she likes
- 2:10Speaker 3: to watch reality TV, scroll and read the gossip on
- 2:14Speaker 3: her Instagram and then she does it all walle crocheting.
- 2:17Speaker 4: Yes, And I do more than just on Instagram, I'm
- 2:20Speaker 4: looking on Twitter, I'm looking at Reddit. I don't look
- 2:23Speaker 4: at the Bachelor Reddit, but I'm in every other teeks
- 2:25Speaker 4: the reality TV show reddit. Just taking it all in
- 2:29Speaker 4: and also taking it all with a grain of salt,
- 2:31Speaker 4: because like, I know how reality TV works, and I
- 2:34Speaker 4: know that a lot of the time what we're seeing
- 2:37Speaker 4: isn't exactly what went down, or like a lot of
- 2:39Speaker 4: the time I was prompted by someone to like, you know,
- 2:43Speaker 4: they ask a question and they tell you to answer
- 2:45Speaker 4: the question by saying the question first. So like, I
- 2:48Speaker 4: can see how a lot of people get set up
- 2:49Speaker 4: all the time and whatever. But I also like, this
- 2:52Speaker 4: is what I did before I went on The Bachelor,
- 2:54Speaker 4: minus the crocheting, and it helped me really well at
- 2:58Speaker 4: reality TV. So I like to think that, like, while
- 3:01Speaker 4: I'm crocheting and watching reality TV and looking at the
- 3:05Speaker 4: gossip and seeing what people like, don't like, et cetera,
- 3:08Speaker 4: I'm working. I am working.
- 3:11Speaker 3: Your preparing for a new show.
- 3:13Speaker 4: That's right, I am. And with the crocheting, I get
- 3:16Speaker 4: like a fun creative outlet and it's really fun to
- 3:19Speaker 4: share online and it's challenging and it's cool.
- 3:24Speaker 2: Yeah, So do you crochet faster on energy drinks or not.
- 3:30Speaker 4: Well, I don't drink enough energy drinks to really know,
- 3:32Speaker 4: Like I don't take energy drinks to crochet, but I
- 3:36Speaker 4: mean I would imagine I probably would. Maybe I'd probably
- 3:40Speaker 4: get a little shaky.
- 3:41Speaker 2: Yeah, tried out some time. Let us know how it goes.
- 3:43Speaker 2: I'm curious, Demy. We saw you on this season of
- 3:46Speaker 2: the Bachelor, and that's why I want to start here,
- 3:48Speaker 2: because we have a lot to get into with you
- 3:50Speaker 2: personally and kind of what's going on in your life.
- 3:52Speaker 2: We haven't gotten to talk to you in a while,
- 3:55Speaker 2: but you were on this season of the Bachelor. You
- 3:58Speaker 2: did host a date with one of my favorite people
- 4:01Speaker 2: from season twenty of The Bachelor, Jubilee. Tell us about it.
- 4:05Speaker 2: How was it to be back on camera? Was it exciting?
- 4:11Speaker 2: And honestly, DEMI like, how did how did you and
- 4:15Speaker 2: Jubilee get into this?
- 4:16Speaker 4: Like?
- 4:16Speaker 2: How did that happen?
- 4:18Speaker 4: I totally forgot Jubilee was on your season. That is
- 4:21Speaker 4: so funny. I love Jubilee. We met that day and
- 4:26Speaker 4: we just we we both just got text asking us,
- 4:30Speaker 4: you know, if we wanted to do an episode, and
- 4:33Speaker 4: they were gonna pay us, so we both were like absolutely,
- 4:36Speaker 4: and so when we met, I mean I immediately just
- 4:40Speaker 4: kind of leaned on her, like, you know, like she
- 4:42Speaker 4: was my buddy, Ashley. You know how I am.
- 4:44Speaker 3: I need buddy, yeah, a.
- 4:46Speaker 4: Safe person to cling to. So Jubilee became that for
- 4:49Speaker 4: me very quickly, and I think I became that for
- 4:52Speaker 4: her too, because you know, like on your season, you
- 4:54Speaker 4: saw everyone was trying to like dim her light and
- 4:58Speaker 4: for like for anyone to shine, like you gotta shine
- 5:01Speaker 4: like with them, you know, So like I was encouraging
- 5:03Speaker 4: her to like have fun with it. So I feel
- 5:05Speaker 4: like I provided a safe place. She provided a safe place,
- 5:08Speaker 4: and we got to both be ourselves and have the
- 5:10Speaker 4: best day ever. Like I'm not kidding you guys. I
- 5:14Speaker 4: wish I could work like that every day. I wish
- 5:16Speaker 4: that was my job. I just had so much fun
- 5:18Speaker 4: because I think I'm so comfortable with the crew, I
- 5:21Speaker 4: know everyone. I feel like I'm not going to get
- 5:25Speaker 4: in trouble for like anyone. No one's gonna yell at
- 5:27Speaker 4: me there. So like I just am having so much fun.
- 5:30Speaker 4: And I have an earpiece, so like in case I
- 5:32Speaker 4: messay anything up, it's easy to fix. Like it's just
- 5:36Speaker 4: everything about it was fun. Aana wasn't worried about, you know,
- 5:40Speaker 4: not getting a rose or anything.
- 5:42Speaker 3: Yeah, that's always really nice to be on set and
- 5:44Speaker 3: not have that fear. Were you on the Canadian VIP?
- 5:49Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah I did. I went there and hosted something too.
- 5:53Speaker 3: How'd that go?
- 5:54Speaker 2: How was that?
- 5:54Speaker 3: In like a whole different country? And like having a
- 5:57Speaker 3: cast that you're not really familiar with.
- 5:59Speaker 4: It was wonderful because the Canadian like crew and everything.
- 6:04Speaker 4: They're just so nice. I mean, like ours are really
- 6:06Speaker 4: nice too, but they somehow they are even nicer. Like
- 6:09Speaker 4: I feel safe with our production with a Bachelor people
- 6:13Speaker 4: like I just got done saying that. And these Canadian people,
- 6:16Speaker 4: I never met them before, and they were just I
- 6:19Speaker 4: could do no wrong, you know. They were so sweet
- 6:20Speaker 4: to me, and they were like that to everyone. It
- 6:23Speaker 4: was really chills, really nice and I had a great time.
- 6:27Speaker 4: It was actually insane whenever I walked in to the
- 6:30Speaker 4: or walked down to the lake beach whatever it was,
- 6:34Speaker 4: And as I walked in, like a hurricane came with me.
- 6:38Speaker 4: Like it was like a gust of wind that was
- 6:40Speaker 4: so massive, so much power behind it, that it blew
- 6:44Speaker 4: chairs into the lake. Chairs were on fire. I mean
- 6:48Speaker 4: everything is blowing everywhere, were on fire, on fire, things
- 6:51Speaker 4: were catching on fire. My top broke open, so my
- 6:54Speaker 4: titties are flailing like I it was. It was magic.
- 6:59Speaker 3: It was.
- 7:00Speaker 4: It's like, holy crap.
- 7:01Speaker 3: It was the introduction you love to have.
- 7:04Speaker 4: Yes, it was so on brand, but I just couldn't
- 7:06Speaker 4: believe it. Feel I couldn't believe it happened. Everyone was
- 7:09Speaker 4: in shock, and I just didn't think it got enough
- 7:11Speaker 4: credit for how eerie. It was like, just how cool
- 7:15Speaker 4: it was that I really came in with a force
- 7:17Speaker 4: of nature.
- 7:19Speaker 2: Did it air?
- 7:20Speaker 4: Yes? It air.
- 7:21Speaker 2: That aired like you walking down everything popping out, stuff
- 7:25Speaker 2: flying around, fires getting started. This is how it aired.
- 7:29Speaker 4: This is how it aired.
- 7:30Speaker 2: Oh goodness to me, you are made for TV.
- 7:34Speaker 4: It was like the universe was affirming that to me.
- 7:37Speaker 4: Like I was very validated in that moment, and I
- 7:40Speaker 4: was like, surely after this, everyone's going to be wanting
- 7:43Speaker 4: to pick me up for shows.
- 7:45Speaker 2: All right, Well, that's what I want to get into
- 7:47Speaker 2: next with you. You've made it very clear that you
- 7:50Speaker 2: like being on television, that it's a place that you
- 7:52Speaker 2: feel comfortable, that you feel confident, that you feel like
- 7:55Speaker 2: in a lot of ways you were made for and
- 7:57Speaker 2: that your personality doesn't really change, it might even heighten
- 8:01Speaker 2: when the cameras get rolling. Now, let's say that the
- 8:05Speaker 2: Bachelor franchise is off limits and you've done what you've done,
- 8:08Speaker 2: it's gone now for you. What shows are out there
- 8:12Speaker 2: that you know of that you're dreaming of being a
- 8:16Speaker 2: part of, or maybe even a show that you have
- 8:19Speaker 2: in your mind that's not created yet that you feel
- 8:22Speaker 2: like you'd be perfect on.
- 8:24Speaker 4: Okay, well, I think that maybe maybe, like if I
- 8:29Speaker 4: want to stay another reality show like The Traders, being
- 8:33Speaker 4: on The Traders would be cool. I just I don't know.
- 8:36Speaker 4: I don't know if I can handle it, but I
- 8:37Speaker 4: think that I would be cool.
- 8:39Speaker 3: We did an entire interview with Peter Webber and it
- 8:41Speaker 3: sounds like really intense, and I truly find myself confused
- 8:46Speaker 3: watching it. I'm like, wait, what is going on?
- 8:48Speaker 4: Love? I love it.
- 8:50Speaker 2: You're smarter than me.
- 8:52Speaker 3: I'm like, this is a puzzle piece.
- 8:54Speaker 4: I listened to all the Traders podcasts. I'm obsessed with
- 8:57Speaker 4: the Trader. But I'm also you have to understand, I'm
- 9:01Speaker 4: massive fans of every single person on there, Like this
- 9:04Speaker 4: is a all star castic. I love Big Brother. The
- 9:08Speaker 4: only thing is like, I don't know the Housewives. I
- 9:10Speaker 4: don't get I have not gotten into the Housewives yet.
- 9:13Speaker 3: You like competition, Yes, yes.
- 9:16Speaker 4: I like seeing people's dreams getting crushed. But I also
- 9:19Speaker 4: like seeing like an underdog win. I like, I just
- 9:23Speaker 4: love every bit of the competition. So maybe I wouldn't
- 9:27Speaker 4: want to do Maybe I probably I don't know if
- 9:29Speaker 4: I would want to do something like Big Brother Survivor
- 9:31Speaker 4: because again, the stress, the lying, the betrayal, I'm not
- 9:38Speaker 4: I'm not big into that, but I think that what
- 9:41Speaker 4: I deserve is you know that, you know how they
- 9:45Speaker 4: had that show catching Kelsey. Yeah, we need it. We
- 9:49Speaker 4: need a demi version of that. I don't know what
- 9:50Speaker 4: it would be, but we need it because I am
- 9:53Speaker 4: so single and it's so painful, and like, I can't
- 9:56Speaker 4: figure out why people aren't jumping all over me, you know.
- 9:59Speaker 3: I mean, you look like our human Barbie.
- 10:01Speaker 4: I don't know either exactly exactly, like what more do
- 10:03Speaker 4: they want from me? And and people will be like, yeah,
- 10:07Speaker 4: there's probably people trying to hit you up. I'm like, yeah,
- 10:09Speaker 4: people that like in the like, we we do not
- 10:13Speaker 4: match up together at all, Like it's not not me
- 10:16Speaker 4: just trying to be shallow, but like, it's not anyone
- 10:18Speaker 4: who's in my dating pool, like and I'm and I'm
- 10:21Speaker 4: being My dating pool is very big. I would say,
- 10:24Speaker 4: I'm going all the way down to fives. I'm taking
- 10:26Speaker 4: a glance at five's these days, but I'm getting all
- 10:29Speaker 4: the d ms from below fives, Like that's come on,
- 10:32Speaker 4: I mm hmm. That's just I'm not willing to settle
- 10:37Speaker 4: on that one. I think it's because then I would
- 10:40Speaker 4: become I just I would never be attracted to them,
- 10:43Speaker 4: and so that wouldn't be fair to them.
- 10:55Speaker 3: You are super open about your diagnosis with autism and ADHD.
- 11:01Speaker 3: Have you ever watched the show Love on the Spectrum?
- 11:05Speaker 4: Yeah, I did, and I thought that it's cute. It's
- 11:09Speaker 4: like I have mixed feelings about it, just as the
- 11:12Speaker 4: internet does. Like it's sweet and stuff, but there's also
- 11:16Speaker 4: like a lot of infantilizing, you know, like in fanalizing,
- 11:23Speaker 4: like treating them like they're like babies, okay, and a
- 11:28Speaker 4: lot of the time, like you know, I love Abby.
- 11:30Speaker 4: I love Abby so much.
- 11:31Speaker 3: I've never seen it, but I know that I have
- 11:34Speaker 3: people in my life that really love it.
- 11:36Speaker 4: Exactly because it's sweet, but it's also like sweet because
- 11:38Speaker 4: they're kind of treating among babies, which I know that
- 11:42Speaker 4: like I sometimes want, but like I I don't, Uh,
- 11:48Speaker 4: I wouldn't want that force on me and not having
- 11:50Speaker 4: to be the narrative, you know, it's like wait, wait, wait,
- 11:53Speaker 4: still it's still an adult. But also like Abby, I
- 11:56Speaker 4: love Abby, but I'm also like, is Abby consenting to
- 11:59Speaker 4: all of this? Like Abby's mom needs to leave Abby alone?
- 12:03Speaker 4: Like she's just always recording Abby doing everything or like Abby,
- 12:08Speaker 4: you know, just little simple things that Abby doesn't because
- 12:10Speaker 4: like she does them her way and not the way
- 12:13Speaker 4: that she's supposed to buy society, and then she's like
- 12:18Speaker 4: recording it, making a viral video out of it, and
- 12:21Speaker 4: I mean maybe Abby's fine with it whatever, but for me,
- 12:23Speaker 4: it's like I think that's encouraging people to like do
- 12:28Speaker 4: more of that, recording children constantly like like that, like
- 12:33Speaker 4: showing off, like look, how weird my kid is. She's
- 12:36Speaker 4: doing this weird thing.
- 12:37Speaker 2: It's like a little exploitive. It can be at times. Yeah.
- 12:42Speaker 2: Abby is a character on Love on the Spectrum, which
- 12:45Speaker 2: is become a very popular reality show and a lot
- 12:49Speaker 2: of people I think watched it, and they are now
- 12:51Speaker 2: starting to And I don't necessarily di me. I'd love
- 12:54Speaker 2: for you to argue with me. I don't necessarily find
- 12:56Speaker 2: it a bad thing that now people are starting to
- 12:57Speaker 2: form an opinion on if they like it or not.
- 12:59Speaker 2: Like I I think at first it was new and
- 13:01Speaker 2: shocking and like something that they were curious about. And
- 13:05Speaker 2: as seasons have continued, I think now people are educated, aware,
- 13:11Speaker 2: and now they're forming their opinions, which I think is
- 13:14Speaker 2: a helpful step to become more I guess aware of
- 13:19Speaker 2: you know, what it is like to live on the
- 13:21Speaker 2: spectrum and to find love on the spectrum.
- 13:24Speaker 4: Yeah, I haven't watched the newest season, so I don't
- 13:29Speaker 4: know what range of autistic characters they have, you know,
- 13:36Speaker 4: So like I don't know, because the part of beating
- 13:40Speaker 4: the stereotype isn't just like loving I mean, of course
- 13:44Speaker 4: loving autistic people and like autistic people finding love, yes,
- 13:48Speaker 4: but like the stereotype too, is like what it looks like.
- 13:52Speaker 4: And I feel like they're trying they try to sometimes
- 13:56Speaker 4: just show how it looks in one way, and that's
- 13:59Speaker 4: by like santalizing. I'm saying that word wrong. I think
- 14:03Speaker 4: a person and you know what I mean, and and so.
- 14:07Speaker 2: That are you saying Do you mean sensatializing?
- 14:11Speaker 3: No, I think she means, and I think it makes sense.
- 14:14Speaker 3: She's there trying to treat them younger than they are.
- 14:17Speaker 2: Oh yeah, that okay, that yes, that does make sense.
- 14:20Speaker 2: I honestly wasn't aware of the words. So you were
- 14:22Speaker 2: throwing words out there. I was like, I'm guessing she's
- 14:24Speaker 2: saying something that I makes sense.
- 14:28Speaker 4: To mean.
- 14:29Speaker 2: So in your dating life, you just mentioned that you
- 14:31Speaker 2: want to be dating that you know that you're putting
- 14:35Speaker 2: yourself out there when you're on a date, Like how
- 14:39Speaker 2: quickly are you talking about like your diagnosis and kind
- 14:43Speaker 2: of how you live your life and what people can
- 14:45Speaker 2: expect out of you or are you holding it back
- 14:47Speaker 2: or are you super upfront and confident. Now, it's just.
- 14:52Speaker 4: Rich of you to assume that I've been on a date.
- 14:55Speaker 2: I mean, there's no way you haven't been on a
- 14:57Speaker 2: date since you came out publicly.
- 14:59Speaker 4: No, I have not, no way, No, I spared. The
- 15:02Speaker 4: only thing that's happened is like, in the past month,
- 15:06Speaker 4: I hung out with one guy. I've had him by hangout,
- 15:10Speaker 4: I mean he comes over for a few hours, and
- 15:12Speaker 4: goes home and that's up and comes up. I know
- 15:16Speaker 4: it's a great, great deal with me. I love that.
- 15:18Speaker 4: And he is also autistic and he's also like in
- 15:23Speaker 4: reality TV, so like a date like kind of but
- 15:29Speaker 4: like we were just hanging out of my house and
- 15:34Speaker 4: talking about like our special interests. But like I might,
- 15:37Speaker 4: I've been sell a bit for two years, like I won't.
- 15:39Speaker 4: I'm not having sex.
- 15:41Speaker 2: I'm not by choice.
- 15:43Speaker 4: Yeah, since I stopped drinking, I really I went back
- 15:48Speaker 4: to like my old high school ways of being a prude.
- 15:51Speaker 4: Just just I don't know, I just I I don't
- 15:56Speaker 4: know what it is. I think that I'm just kind
- 15:58Speaker 4: of disgusted I ever, like not just because but just
- 16:01Speaker 4: even like the act of it is disgusting, like our
- 16:04Speaker 4: bodily fluids, like touching each other, Like have they washed
- 16:06Speaker 4: their hands? Am I gonna have to ask them? Like
- 16:08Speaker 4: brush your teeth? Like all of these things that I'm
- 16:10Speaker 4: just like it's not worth it to me. Whereas when
- 16:12Speaker 4: I was drunk, I don't really care about all that stuff.
- 16:14Speaker 4: But now that I'm not, I am very weird about
- 16:17Speaker 4: all of that. And I can get turned off like
- 16:19Speaker 4: so easily because of a smell so I'm being so
- 16:22Speaker 4: vulnerable right now.
- 16:24Speaker 2: I'm I actually didn't know you would stop drinking. I
- 16:28Speaker 2: don't know if like you publicly had announced this, But
- 16:31Speaker 2: so you've been sober now for two years.
- 16:34Speaker 4: Yeah, so you're gonna have almost it'll be three years
- 16:36Speaker 4: in July.
- 16:37Speaker 2: That's a big deal. Like it has it been a
- 16:41Speaker 2: I mean for anybody that's listening who's maybe considering that
- 16:44Speaker 2: journey or are going down it, has it been a
- 16:47Speaker 2: good thing? I mean I'm assuming there's no negatives to it,
- 16:50Speaker 2: but like what kind of good stuff is coming from it?
- 16:53Speaker 4: Yeah, it's been great. I would say the best thing
- 16:56Speaker 4: is being able to well, not being sick, like not
- 16:59Speaker 4: feeling sick, not feeling like you're dying. That was the
- 17:02Speaker 4: worst part for sure, Like I always felt like I
- 17:04Speaker 4: was dying in the anxiety. Like, don't get me wrong,
- 17:07Speaker 4: I still have anxiety, but it's not about dying from drinking.
- 17:11Speaker 3: I mean like being super hungover.
- 17:13Speaker 4: Yeah, but like I mine went from like being super
- 17:16Speaker 4: hungover to where I was like I can't take this,
- 17:19Speaker 4: and then hair the dog drink more and then I
- 17:22Speaker 4: never stopped, so I just every day and then I
- 17:25Speaker 4: just got myself into this like terrible habit. And I
- 17:29Speaker 4: didn't want to be drinking anymore, but I had to
- 17:31Speaker 4: because if I didn't, I was gonna get sick. I
- 17:34Speaker 4: was gonna get violently ill and get the shakes. And
- 17:37Speaker 4: so actually, whenever I did stop drinking, I posted about
- 17:40Speaker 4: this on my Instagram. But Natasha was at my house
- 17:44Speaker 4: and she stayed the night with me, and I drank,
- 17:47Speaker 4: and I drank the night before. But then the next
- 17:49Speaker 4: morning I was like, Hey, Natasha, I have to tell
- 17:51Speaker 4: you something. I have a really bad drinking problem and
- 17:54Speaker 4: I want to stop drinking today. Can you please just
- 17:56Speaker 4: stay with me and make sure that I don't die
- 17:58Speaker 4: because I'm gonna get thick. And she was like, of course,
- 18:01Speaker 4: of course. And so then I immediately just started yacking
- 18:05Speaker 4: and like I couldn't stop. And so she was like,
- 18:07Speaker 4: all right, you're either going to go to rehab or
- 18:09Speaker 4: we're calling the ambulance. And I said, call the ambulance.
- 18:12Speaker 4: I can't go to rehab. I have a house full
- 18:14Speaker 4: of animals. Like that's not realistic for me. Just call
- 18:16Speaker 4: the ambulance. So call the ambulance. They come over here.
- 18:20Speaker 4: They undermine all my pain, and they undermine everything going
- 18:23Speaker 4: on about me, and he's just like, you're gonna be fine.
- 18:26Speaker 4: It's gonna suck for a couple of days, You'll be okay, buddy, whatever,
- 18:30Speaker 4: And so they leave and then a few hours later,
- 18:34Speaker 4: Natasha was about to leave, and right before she left,
- 18:38Speaker 4: I started having seizures so that we had to call
- 18:42Speaker 4: the ambulance again and like I don't remember any of that,
- 18:46Speaker 4: and the ambulance came back to me in the hospital
- 18:49Speaker 4: and I was in the hospital for a few days,
- 18:51Speaker 4: and that was honestly, like the best ever was being
- 18:54Speaker 4: in the hospital because I didn't have to go through
- 18:58Speaker 4: the withdrawals of it like alone, like I had medication
- 19:03Speaker 4: and help. Like the alcohol withdraws are the worst along
- 19:07Speaker 4: with I think like Heroin, Like they're like the worst
- 19:09Speaker 4: with withdrawals you can have. And it's literally like okay
- 19:12Speaker 4: in euphoria, you know, whenever like Real is having her withdrawals,
- 19:17Speaker 4: I think she's having withdraws or she's like really sick
- 19:20Speaker 4: or something, but she's just like ah, like can bear,
- 19:22Speaker 4: Like she looks like she's dying, and I'm like, this
- 19:24Speaker 4: is literally exactly how it is. Like it's just it's awful.
- 19:28Speaker 4: So once I once I got out of the hospital.
- 19:33Speaker 4: I was like, yeah, I'm I'm not sick anymore, like
- 19:36Speaker 4: my I don't feel ill, I don't feel like I'm
- 19:38Speaker 4: gonna vomit, and I don't feel like super weak like
- 19:41Speaker 4: I did. But I was like, I feel better. And
- 19:43Speaker 4: then I was like, yeah, I'm not gonna drink anymore,
- 19:45Speaker 4: like I'm gonna die if I do. Probably, like I
- 19:49Speaker 4: I think that maybe one day, like if I have
- 19:52Speaker 4: a spouse, I'll be like, you know, you can make
- 19:55Speaker 4: give me a glass of wine in Italy or something
- 19:58Speaker 4: and just make sure that I I don't want to
- 20:00Speaker 4: be in charge of any of my own alcohol, but
- 20:02Speaker 4: like you know, maybe something like that. But it just
- 20:06Speaker 4: the thought of it still makes me sick, Like I
- 20:08Speaker 4: just feel like, oh, I just know I'm going to
- 20:09Speaker 4: feel bad the next day, like I don't even I'm
- 20:11Speaker 4: not tempted because of it.
- 20:13Speaker 2: So first off, I want a shout out to Natasha Parker,
- 20:17Speaker 2: I'm assuming from the show right, Yes, yes, what a
- 20:20Speaker 2: good friend, I mean, what an.
- 20:22Speaker 4: Angel, Like she not only did she get me to
- 20:25Speaker 4: the hospital, like she contacted everyone that I needed to,
- 20:29Speaker 4: like on my phone, because like I was like passed out,
- 20:31Speaker 4: you know, and so she was like calling my parents
- 20:35Speaker 4: making sure my animals were taken care of. Like she
- 20:37Speaker 4: just really went above and beyond and took care of me.
- 20:42Speaker 4: And I just felt so safe in that whole situation,
- 20:46Speaker 4: like I knew that she had me, and yeah, I
- 20:48Speaker 4: don't know, It's just one of the most amazing things
- 20:51Speaker 4: anyone could ever do for someone, Like she saved my life.
- 20:54Speaker 4: And I don't know what would have happened if she
- 20:56Speaker 4: wasn't here whenever if I started seizing, you know, like.
- 21:00Speaker 2: Big deal, and it's for her.
- 21:02Speaker 4: She's an incredible person. As if we all didn't know,
- 21:05Speaker 4: like blown me away.
- 21:19Speaker 2: Obviously, you've had some big changes in your life over
- 21:21Speaker 2: the last couple of years, and these changes have all
- 21:24Speaker 2: been really positive for you. But you did say that
- 21:27Speaker 2: you stay in your house often right that you're watching TV,
- 21:30Speaker 2: that you've taken up this great like hobby of crusheng,
- 21:33Speaker 2: which I think super cool. I saw the quill that
- 21:35Speaker 2: you made the other day, which I was beautiful, like
- 21:39Speaker 2: absolutely beautiful, and the time and the technique and yeah,
- 21:43Speaker 2: like the difficulty and the complexity of that to turn
- 21:46Speaker 2: into something so great is so cool. But you are
- 21:48Speaker 2: in your house more often and I'm wondering why, Like,
- 21:52Speaker 2: is it because now you know there is a little
- 21:55Speaker 2: social anxiety? Is it because you just prefer it? It's
- 21:58Speaker 2: a safe space, Like why are you finding yourself? Kind
- 22:01Speaker 2: of like hunkering down more than ever.
- 22:05Speaker 4: Definitely social anxiety. And I had social anxiety like my
- 22:09Speaker 4: whole life. But the way that I thought I had
- 22:12Speaker 4: beat it was like once I started drinking in college,
- 22:16Speaker 4: Like the reason I love alcohol so much or loved
- 22:20Speaker 4: it is because it is a cure for my social anxiety.
- 22:23Speaker 4: It helped me be myself on the Bachelor, helped me
- 22:27Speaker 4: be able to be who I was without fear, which
- 22:31Speaker 4: now I still have those skills because I can still
- 22:35Speaker 4: channel that part of me, like I know how to
- 22:38Speaker 4: I know how to get into that mode now because
- 22:41Speaker 4: you know, I had this crutch that helped me in
- 22:44Speaker 4: the beginning. And it's harder though, because now I do
- 22:46Speaker 4: have the not in my stomach of anxiety that doesn't
- 22:49Speaker 4: go away. You know that I have to be like
- 22:50Speaker 4: what do I need to do to help me feel
- 22:53Speaker 4: safer in this moment so the social anxiety will go away?
- 22:56Speaker 4: And it's usually like I just need somebody who I'm
- 22:58Speaker 4: like joking around with are like keeping a like up.
- 23:02Speaker 4: I'm just someone I feel safe with and who I'm
- 23:05Speaker 4: never gonna cross the line with, you know, like they
- 23:07Speaker 4: know who I am. They know that I don't mean
- 23:09Speaker 4: any harm. Like even if I say bad joke, they'll
- 23:11Speaker 4: be like they won't make me feel like a terrible
- 23:14Speaker 4: person for it, you know, like just a really safe person.
- 23:17Speaker 4: And yeah, so now it's like I can't have a
- 23:24Speaker 4: buddy on me at all times to go do things
- 23:26Speaker 4: Like I have my dog, so I do walk my dog,
- 23:29Speaker 4: so like I get my outside exercise whatever, my good
- 23:33Speaker 4: exposure to the outdoors. But the social anxiety is it
- 23:41Speaker 4: can just get to be too much if I don't
- 23:42Speaker 4: have a buddy, and even if I do have a buddy,
- 23:45Speaker 4: Oh my gosh. The other day, I was at Casavega
- 23:47Speaker 4: with my mom and my friend Piper, and we had
- 23:52Speaker 4: been eating for a while and then there was this
- 23:54Speaker 4: table of like ten like fifty sixty year old white nails,
- 24:01Speaker 4: and so you know, that's just kind of intimidating to
- 24:03Speaker 4: begin with, Like just went show you know, uh, happy
- 24:06Speaker 4: to you probably coming off of work laughing. They're running
- 24:10Speaker 4: the world. So I'm sitting there and out of nowhere.
- 24:15Speaker 4: I hear one of them being like, wasn't she I'm
- 24:18Speaker 4: the bachelor, And I just look up and every table
- 24:21Speaker 4: that's around us is now staring at me. And I
- 24:25Speaker 4: immediately am like stop subs sop soup zuh blah blah,
- 24:28Speaker 4: like I have a panic attack. And I'm just like
- 24:31Speaker 4: and I'm like, mom, pay the check, let's cool, let's go.
- 24:33Speaker 4: Like I'm so scared right all my way out. He's
- 24:36Speaker 4: yelling never watching that show again. And I'm like, one,
- 24:41Speaker 4: I don't care. Two me either. At three, I'm just
- 24:45Speaker 4: but three, like I am scared. I'm not trying to
- 24:49Speaker 4: be rude. I'm so freaking terrified my guy, like everyone
- 24:53Speaker 4: who's looking at me like I don't know, Like I
- 24:56Speaker 4: just wasn't prepared for it. I don't know what happened.
- 24:59Speaker 4: But situations like that or why I don't want to
- 25:01Speaker 4: leave the house because they, I mean, they just always
- 25:03Speaker 4: are having like.
- 25:06Speaker 3: Anyways, the social anxiety is tied to the autism. What
- 25:10Speaker 3: when you got the autism diagnosis? Were you going to
- 25:13Speaker 3: a doctor psychiatrist? And then did you feel like how
- 25:17Speaker 3: was it discovered and how long did it take to diagnose?
- 25:21Speaker 3: And sorry for the multi part question, but like how
- 25:24Speaker 3: kind of relieving was it for you to get answers
- 25:26Speaker 3: about just your personality?
- 25:29Speaker 4: Yeah, I so it's a neuropsychologist and you have to
- 25:34Speaker 4: do an autism evaluation. It's very expensive and insurance I
- 25:40Speaker 4: don't even know if they cover it. Most of them
- 25:42Speaker 4: don't take insurance. It's just it's very hard to get
- 25:44Speaker 4: diagnosed as an adult. So I went to a neuropsychologist
- 25:50Speaker 4: who specializes in autism and women, and she's a woman,
- 25:55Speaker 4: and we did it was all over zoom. But it
- 25:59Speaker 4: was for like two weeks. I don't even know how
- 26:03Speaker 4: many sessions, like somewhere from like four to eight sessions,
- 26:06Speaker 4: and every time we talked it was for multiple hours.
- 26:10Speaker 4: Then she also I had to get questionnaires filled out
- 26:15Speaker 4: from my parents, and I gave it to my granny
- 26:18Speaker 4: as well, because she was around me a lot whenever
- 26:21Speaker 4: I was a kid. And also she had a zoom
- 26:27Speaker 4: call with my friend without me, so she could like
- 26:33Speaker 4: talk to my friend without me and like you know,
- 26:35Speaker 4: ask her the questions. So it took it took a
- 26:38Speaker 4: while to get it. I would say though, like two weeks,
- 26:42Speaker 4: maybe maybe more like a month because it was probably
- 26:44Speaker 4: like we started and then we made the appointment for
- 26:47Speaker 4: two weeks you know, and then all of that. But
- 26:51Speaker 4: it's it takes a long time. It's a long process,
- 26:54Speaker 4: and it's expensive, and it's only worth it to me
- 26:58Speaker 4: because I needed it to be I will too, like, uh,
- 27:02Speaker 4: like nobody would have believed me without it, right, and
- 27:04Speaker 4: so how would I be able to help all the
- 27:06Speaker 4: women who feel the same way as me if I
- 27:08Speaker 4: didn't have that like proof, you know, if I didn't
- 27:11Speaker 4: have any credibility like that, Like uh, I I needed
- 27:16Speaker 4: like it to feel better for myself as well, because
- 27:19Speaker 4: of course in my mind, I'm like, it's probably just
- 27:21Speaker 4: not but maybe it's like not autism, like you know,
- 27:24Speaker 4: maybe it can't be. But yeah, So after I did
- 27:27Speaker 4: all of this evaluating and we were done, I was like,
- 27:31Speaker 4: we had another follow up meeting and I was like, so,
- 27:33Speaker 4: like what is it? She was like, dimmy, you're definitely autistic.
- 27:37Speaker 2: What do you mean?
- 27:38Speaker 4: And I was like, oh my gosh. And so yeah,
- 27:41Speaker 4: then that was like the the start of a very
- 27:47Speaker 4: new life for me and like a new way of
- 27:49Speaker 4: like believing in myself so much more and just yeah,
- 27:58Speaker 4: like self like compassion. So whenever you have compassion for yourself,
- 28:04Speaker 4: it consequently starts happening with other people. You start having
- 28:07Speaker 4: compassion for everyone around you. It was life changing for me,
- 28:11Speaker 4: and the best way. It does seem like sometimes people
- 28:14Speaker 4: could look at it on the outside and look at
- 28:16Speaker 4: it as negative because I'm in my house all the
- 28:19Speaker 4: time and I don't like to go and do things,
- 28:20Speaker 4: blah blah blah. But it's like I get to I
- 28:23Speaker 4: feel more myself, and I also now have like beautiful
- 28:27Speaker 4: hobbies like crocheting and video games, and I do have
- 28:31Speaker 4: like when I do get to when I do go
- 28:34Speaker 4: out and do things, I usually have a really amazing
- 28:37Speaker 4: time because it's something I really want to do or
- 28:40Speaker 4: there's people there that I really want to see, and
- 28:43Speaker 4: I've been saving it up, you know, like I've been resting.
- 28:46Speaker 4: I've been in my rest. So now I'm coming out
- 28:48Speaker 4: of rest that look great and ready to see everyone.
- 28:50Speaker 4: I'm happy and it's fun and I don't have the
- 28:54Speaker 4: anxiety of like where I used to have anxiety when
- 28:57Speaker 4: I drink all the time and I would be bop
- 28:59Speaker 4: around every where. I would be like, Yeah, what am
- 29:01Speaker 4: I supposed to be doing? I'm supposed to be doing
- 29:03Speaker 4: a lot of other things back at home. But yeah,
- 29:04Speaker 4: I'm gonna not go home and I can go to
- 29:06Speaker 4: brunch because I don't want to think about that. So yeah,
- 29:09Speaker 4: I guess I'm more like forced to deal with my life,
- 29:12Speaker 4: which I like, I'm happier with my life. Yeah.
- 29:16Speaker 2: Well, you're living in the truth now too, Like there's
- 29:19Speaker 2: some there you know your truth, and that's an exciting
- 29:22Speaker 2: next step. Well to close out here, don't. I don't
- 29:26Speaker 2: know your relationship anymore, but I knew at one point
- 29:28Speaker 2: in your life you had a really close relationship with Nick.
- 29:31Speaker 2: Nick Natalie just had a baby. Have you met the
- 29:34Speaker 2: new baby girl yet?
- 29:36Speaker 4: No? But I texted Natalie and I was like, Hey,
- 29:39Speaker 4: can I crochet something for baby River? She was like,
- 29:42Speaker 4: of course, And so I am trying to figure out
- 29:45Speaker 4: what I want to make for her. If you guys
- 29:47Speaker 4: think of anything cute, Ashley, you think of it, see
- 29:50Speaker 4: anything online, like if anywhere you know, I'm sure you
- 29:53Speaker 4: have like baby stuff popping up on all your fees.
- 29:55Speaker 4: So if you see anything really cute crocheted and you're like,
- 29:57Speaker 4: I would want this for my maybe send it to me.
- 30:00Speaker 4: And then by the time you have your baby, maybe.
- 30:03Speaker 2: I'll have one made for you to you know, you
- 30:06Speaker 2: know what comes to my mind? Demmy right away. You know,
- 30:08Speaker 2: I just saw this the other day and I think
- 30:09Speaker 2: it's the cutest thing that kids wear. I don't know
- 30:11Speaker 2: why it could be the worst thing overalls, Like I
- 30:14Speaker 2: think crocheted overalls would be absolutely adorable.
- 30:18Speaker 4: That is adorable. What color? What color?
- 30:21Speaker 2: I think you can go all out like it's overalls,
- 30:24Speaker 2: like you're if you're gonna wear overalls, just like I'm
- 30:27Speaker 2: talking like crazy colors, mixed colors, rainbowed colors, like do whatever.
- 30:32Speaker 4: I just got this really cute yarn. I've been making
- 30:35Speaker 4: a sweater for myself, but like, look at how cute
- 30:40Speaker 4: this is.
- 30:40Speaker 3: Oh that's so cute and so why two k I
- 30:44Speaker 3: love that?
- 30:45Speaker 2: Oh adorable?
- 30:46Speaker 3: I was thinking that. You know how Nick loves dim Sum.
- 30:49Speaker 3: What if you made like a little dim Sum hat?
- 30:52Speaker 4: Perfect? Because he takes me there. You know, that's the
- 30:55Speaker 4: only restaurant we go to.
- 30:57Speaker 3: That's his comfort safe sum.
- 30:59Speaker 4: Literally, me and I have only been to Dent type
- 31:03Speaker 4: Fung and I've probably been like twenty times and every
- 31:05Speaker 4: time was with him.
- 31:06Speaker 3: Yep, same hair and Jones on third that's his other
- 31:09Speaker 3: same third. Can't say that either there are bad meals,
- 31:14Speaker 3: they're both, they're both fantastic meals, but the dim summers.
- 31:18Speaker 2: Fine you are.
- 31:19Speaker 3: Okay, wait, Demi, before we let you go, you mentioned
- 31:21Speaker 3: your mom before, and your mom, of course was in
- 31:24Speaker 3: she was in prison. She was she's in jailer in prison, prison,
- 31:29Speaker 3: she was in prison when you were on the show.
- 31:31Speaker 3: And so how's your relationship today.
- 31:33Speaker 4: My mom is my best now. Oh my gosh, that's
- 31:37Speaker 4: one of the biggest changes in my life too, is
- 31:39Speaker 4: like my relationship with my mom. My mom helps me
- 31:42Speaker 4: so much because there are a lot of the things
- 31:45Speaker 4: that I struggle with are like invisible things like Bill's
- 31:50Speaker 4: like not I have the money.
- 31:52Speaker 3: I just don't.
- 31:53Speaker 4: I can't like make sure that everything's paid on time,
- 31:56Speaker 4: and like the auto draft sometimes that doesn't work out
- 31:58Speaker 4: because sometimes I'm I'm waiting on a payment, you know,
- 32:01Speaker 4: but then after it comes in, it never gets paid
- 32:03Speaker 4: because it wasn't in the auto draft. And like, I
- 32:07Speaker 4: am really just terrible with all of that, all of
- 32:10Speaker 4: that part of adulting, like the money and the making
- 32:14Speaker 4: sure you're doing these like adult things you're supposed to do.
- 32:18Speaker 4: I just really struggle with it, and I have ever
- 32:24Speaker 4: since I got into the adult world. Like this isn't
- 32:27Speaker 4: something new. This is I've always been this way and
- 32:30Speaker 4: I just never talk about it. But my mom has
- 32:33Speaker 4: been helping me so much with that and like just
- 32:36Speaker 4: making sure that things are paid, so like I'm not
- 32:39Speaker 4: getting lateies and things I'm falling through like I She's
- 32:43Speaker 4: making sure everything is good for me. And that's just
- 32:47Speaker 4: like such a relief for me, because it gives me
- 32:50Speaker 4: so much anxiety, Like I cannot I'm just like constantly
- 32:55Speaker 4: worrying about like if I've like paid these things and
- 32:58Speaker 4: blah blah, and it's like, well why would And I
- 33:00Speaker 4: just look, I don't know. I don't know why because
- 33:02Speaker 4: I'm too scared to look like it's like I'm just
- 33:05Speaker 4: terrified of the whole thing, and I'm just it eats
- 33:08Speaker 4: me alive too. So to have somebody who's just like, hey,
- 33:11Speaker 4: let me help you. I can do that. I can
- 33:14Speaker 4: like log into these things and make sure it's all
- 33:16Speaker 4: good for you, That's been just the biggest gift of anything.
- 33:20Speaker 4: Like I'm like, oh my god, thank you take care
- 33:22Speaker 4: of me, like please help me. And I think that's
- 33:26Speaker 4: why we have such a good relationship is because she's
- 33:28Speaker 4: not asking for anything in return. She's like, yeah, of
- 33:31Speaker 4: course I'm going to help you. I feel like part
- 33:32Speaker 4: of it is like she probably feels like she owes
- 33:35Speaker 4: it to me after you know, my childhood and everything
- 33:38Speaker 4: that happened with her. But also I just think that
- 33:41Speaker 4: she loves me so much and she just wants to
- 33:43Speaker 4: help me out because she she sees how like sick,
- 33:47Speaker 4: I get over it, like mentally and emotionally. So yeah,
- 33:52Speaker 4: that's why she's taking care of me. So we have
- 33:53Speaker 4: a good relationship. I think it's hard to have a
- 33:56Speaker 4: good relationship with me if you aren't if you're expecting
- 34:03Speaker 4: me to like be reaching out to you all the time.
- 34:05Speaker 4: Like my mom and I am such a great relationship
- 34:07Speaker 4: because she blows me up, which I need. Like I'm
- 34:13Speaker 4: my phone and I we have a very distant relationship.
- 34:16Speaker 4: I get on there for work to post on Instagram
- 34:19Speaker 4: and get off, like I don't text. I don't do
- 34:21Speaker 4: any of that phones work. So if you text me,
- 34:25Speaker 4: I might not really see it, or I might see
- 34:27Speaker 4: it while I'm working here, or whatever will happen. And
- 34:29Speaker 4: if you think that I'm not responding to that text
- 34:31Speaker 4: intentionally because I don't want to talk to you, and
- 34:34Speaker 4: if you take it that way, we're never going to
- 34:37Speaker 4: be friends because I do not mean it that way
- 34:40Speaker 4: whatsoever at all. And like, I have so many friends
- 34:44Speaker 4: where we understand this about each other. And so it's like, God,
- 34:47Speaker 4: thank god I found my people, because it sounds like
- 34:50Speaker 4: so rude that I'm like I didn't text them back,
- 34:52Speaker 4: But it's so sick. That's so typical, that's so society's
- 34:56Speaker 4: rules of like if you don't text back, then that
- 34:59Speaker 4: means you are mad, or that means you don't want
- 35:01Speaker 4: to talk, Like I need to text back because my
- 35:03Speaker 4: brain didn't even see it and I was busy, But
- 35:06Speaker 4: it doesn't mean it doesn't affect our relationship. I'm kind
- 35:11Speaker 4: of going a little too oft right now.
- 35:13Speaker 2: No, No, I love it.
- 35:14Speaker 3: And we're really happy to hear that you're get in
- 35:15Speaker 3: a good spot with your mom.
- 35:17Speaker 4: Yes, so my mom. My mom blows me up. My
- 35:19Speaker 4: mom is not afraid. She understands that I'm It doesn't
- 35:23Speaker 4: mean anything if I don't answer, it just means keep
- 35:25Speaker 4: trying or try again later. Nobody do. And my mom
- 35:28Speaker 4: is she's doing great, the happiest I have seen her
- 35:31Speaker 4: in years, Like her energy just being around her is
- 35:35Speaker 4: so happy and just ah, she's glowing.
