- 4:35Speaker 1: a group of authors came together and they wanted to
- 4:39Speaker 1: give us that encouraging words that we would use. Okay,
- 4:45Speaker 1: I am going to have her. I have Miss Tammy Myers.
- 4:49Speaker 1: And there's also another young lady that I have coming up.
- 4:53Speaker 1: Oh my god, her name just went away. But they
- 4:58Speaker 1: are going to be on my show this month to
- 5:01Speaker 1: talk about their journey. Can you hear me now?
- 5:05Speaker 2: Yes, I can hear you can hear me?
- 5:07Speaker 1: I can hear you now? So tall, So tell us
- 5:12Speaker 1: a little bit about yourself.
- 5:17Speaker 2: I am a fifty six year old mother. I have
- 5:22Speaker 2: five children, grandchildren. I have a lot of very I
- 5:28Speaker 2: don't even know. I'm just a very laid back, down
- 5:30Speaker 2: to earth person. I love God before anything and anymore,
- 5:35Speaker 2: and I must give him all the honor and praise
- 5:37Speaker 2: in my life. I love to laugh and joke, and
- 5:42Speaker 2: I don't know. I'm just a simple kind of girl.
- 5:46Speaker 1: You can hang out together because I willing off of nothing.
- 5:52Speaker 2: You just giggle what my friends do.
- 5:57Speaker 1: That's what I'm just something about. When you're laughing, when
- 6:03Speaker 1: you're smiling, it's just it's just that that I've listening.
- 6:08Speaker 1: And I know some people is like, ah, I smile
- 6:10Speaker 1: all the time, but it's like a genuine smile.
- 6:13Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying yes, smam. I love laughter.
- 6:17Speaker 2: I love to see people smile for no reason. So
- 6:23Speaker 2: I'm just the whole gift giver, just to show people
- 6:27Speaker 2: that there are still people in the world who care.
- 6:32Speaker 2: It don't have to be a reason to be nice.
- 6:35Speaker 2: Just be nice. I love to be nice and I
- 6:38Speaker 2: love making people smile. You never know what people are
- 6:43Speaker 2: going through.
- 6:44Speaker 1: You never ever know. So let's talk about foot the
- 6:50Speaker 1: fos in the sand of time. What made you want
- 6:54Speaker 1: to become an author?
- 6:57Speaker 2: Oh, I've been writing only I started writing in twenty thirteen, and.
- 7:05Speaker 1: I was.
- 7:07Speaker 3: No.
- 7:07Speaker 2: I started writing in twenty nineteen. I'm sorry, and I
- 7:11Speaker 2: actually it was just laying down one day and I
- 7:14Speaker 2: couldn't I couldn't sleep, and words were just like going
- 7:18Speaker 2: through my head, like if God was talking to me.
- 7:21Speaker 2: And I got up for some reason and I wrote
- 7:24Speaker 2: them and that was my first poem. And then it
- 7:27Speaker 2: was like whatever I was going through because I was
- 7:30Speaker 2: in the midst of my healing. I was about four
- 7:34Speaker 2: years into recovery at that time, and whatever I was
- 7:39Speaker 2: going through or whatever I was healing from, was that
- 7:44Speaker 2: if God just kept giving me poetry, and so I
- 7:48Speaker 2: actually healed through my poetry. I didn't think that it
- 7:52Speaker 2: was good at first. I thought it was just my words,
- 7:54Speaker 2: and people were always saying, oh, you need to write
- 7:56Speaker 2: a book, you need to encourage and thanks to a
- 8:02Speaker 2: great friend of a sea, Lee Andrew, also an an author, yeah,
- 8:08Speaker 2: I should also read his book Critical Grades. But he
- 8:13Speaker 2: kept pushing me and I finally he was like, girl,
- 8:15Speaker 2: send me all your poblty, I'm about to put it
- 8:16Speaker 2: in a book. And he did.
- 8:19Speaker 1: He did awesome. And what is the title that book?
- 8:24Speaker 2: The title of that book will be Caterpillars and Butterfly
- 8:29Speaker 2: But okay, because I want to say it wrong, It's
- 8:33Speaker 2: called Caterpillar and Butterflies, a collection of transformative poetry.
- 8:41Speaker 1: I love that. I love that. Calterpillars and Butterflies transformation.
- 8:47Speaker 1: Oh my god, that is awesome. So congratulations on your sobriety.
- 8:57Speaker 1: And I'm gonna tell you that because I see it
- 9:01Speaker 1: all and when you guys do it, I'm gonna be
- 9:04Speaker 1: right there, like, yo, I am so proud of you.
- 9:07Speaker 1: Don't know you've maden cat, but I'm proud of you.
- 9:12Speaker 2: It's a hard thing and it's a hard journey, and
- 9:15Speaker 2: it takes a lot out of you. But if you
- 9:18Speaker 2: keep pushing. It's also one of the most beautiful things
- 9:21Speaker 2: I've ever experienced to know where I came from and
- 9:25Speaker 2: to see where I am today, Like I never thought
- 9:29Speaker 2: this would be my life, and it's just so awesome,
- 9:33Speaker 2: so awesome. God is so good.
- 9:37Speaker 1: And you already know this. Now you know this, Yes,
- 9:43Speaker 1: tell us your contribution, because I know that this book
- 9:47Speaker 1: is an anthology, and there's several of you guys in
- 9:49Speaker 1: this book, So what is your contribution to put prints
- 9:53Speaker 1: in the.
- 9:53Speaker 2: Same So I have five poems in the book, and
- 10:02Speaker 2: whoever has the privilege of reading it will come to
- 10:08Speaker 2: some kind of healing in itself. It will touch you.
- 10:11Speaker 2: It will definitely touch you. It makes you want more,
- 10:18Speaker 2: which is it was a blessing that we got this book,
- 10:23Speaker 2: so that it's only five as an introduction to my book,
- 10:26Speaker 2: because it's amazing and I love the poems, the different subjects,
- 10:33Speaker 2: different topics. I love that each one of my poems
- 10:37Speaker 2: are in a different topic. The book is amazing.
- 10:42Speaker 1: That is crazy neat. So which one of your poems
- 10:48Speaker 1: would you say? Is that knockout? Like? If you read
- 10:53Speaker 1: any five of these, this is the one that you
- 10:56Speaker 1: should read.
- 11:02Speaker 2: Can you see me?
- 11:04Speaker 1: Oh? Can you tell us a little bit. Yes, yes, everybody.
- 11:09Speaker 1: Spoiler alert, Okay, I got my copy. I hope y'all
- 11:12Speaker 1: got yours.
- 11:18Speaker 2: Can You See Me? As a it's a poem of
- 11:24Speaker 2: like about someone sitting there. You know how sometimes people
- 11:29Speaker 2: are in relationships and and they are going through so
- 11:34Speaker 2: much and it's like the person that they're with or
- 11:40Speaker 2: their friends don't even know what they're going through. And
- 11:44Speaker 2: so the poem is called can you see Me?
- 11:48Speaker 1: Wow? Wow, because a lot of people are going through
- 11:54Speaker 1: situations like that right now, whereas you and there we go.
- 11:59Speaker 1: We talked about early that genuine smile, So they have
- 12:02Speaker 1: that smile, but they're begging for someone to just tug
- 12:08Speaker 1: at them a little bit more. So I understand that,
- 12:11Speaker 1: truly understand that.
- 12:13Speaker 2: Yeah. When I wrote this poem, it was because so
- 12:18Speaker 2: many people always see me laughing and smiling, and it's
- 12:24Speaker 2: like you're sitting right next to me and you don't
- 12:27Speaker 2: even know I'm crying. You know, sometimes people are crying
- 12:32Speaker 2: on the inside and sometimes I will still be laughing.
- 12:36Speaker 2: I could be in a club, but I can be
- 12:37Speaker 2: so broken on the inside and nobody know.
- 12:43Speaker 1: Yes, you've done that, wrote the book next to you,
- 12:47Speaker 1: checking that coin, making sure that I read it. So
- 12:54Speaker 1: where do you see yourself going with this journey?
- 13:00Speaker 2: Okay, so this one is my first book. Yeah, and
- 13:04Speaker 2: me congratulates Leslie. I'm Asian author.
- 13:09Speaker 1: And the next before we say you are officially author,
- 13:13Speaker 1: you gotta put you gotta say that correctly. You are
- 13:15Speaker 1: an Amazon selling.
- 13:18Speaker 2: I am an Amazon best seller author. Yes, god, so
- 13:28Speaker 2: when my second bestseller comes out, that'll be nice. And
- 13:34Speaker 2: you have all My poetry is about my life, so
- 13:38Speaker 2: my third book will be my life story. Oh and
- 13:46Speaker 2: that's a book that makes Precious look like Cinderella.
- 13:53Speaker 1: What the devil? Oh?
- 13:57Speaker 2: So people only know you know, people know some people.
- 14:00Speaker 2: Everybody know different parts of my life and nobody know everything.
- 14:04Speaker 2: But I had one of them lives. So I'm looking
- 14:08Speaker 2: forward to writing the whole story. Wow, because you will
- 14:16Speaker 2: definitely be surprised.
- 14:18Speaker 1: She's look forward to it. Pressures look like Cinderella.
- 14:23Speaker 2: Oh yeah, ma'am. Wow.
- 14:26Speaker 1: Wow, Okay, I still can't get off of that because
- 14:29Speaker 1: I've seen pressure.
- 14:34Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, that's woa.
- 14:38Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 14:38Speaker 2: Pressure story was like one h of my life.
- 14:44Speaker 1: Wow. And let me tell you, baby girl, you look
- 14:49Speaker 1: so blessed because.
- 14:51Speaker 2: Thank you, I feel it and I am.
- 14:54Speaker 1: I would have never thought anything along that line.
- 14:58Speaker 2: Well, I think I must thank God first, but yes,
- 15:02Speaker 2: thank you first.
- 15:03Speaker 1: You said the fifty six when when we first talked,
- 15:06Speaker 1: I wanted to tell you, y'all know black, no one
- 15:09Speaker 1: crack because crack.
- 15:15Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying.
- 15:18Speaker 1: Who would be your ideal reader for your books? Like
- 15:22Speaker 1: if if I put you in a group of people,
- 15:26Speaker 1: who would be the person that I will say, this
- 15:28Speaker 1: is the book that I should give to you. Who
- 15:30Speaker 1: would be that ideal reader?
- 15:36Speaker 2: Anybody and everybody. That's the beautiful thing about my books.
- 15:44Speaker 2: It deals with everything I've written about, everything from self
- 15:50Speaker 2: esteem and soul because I wanted to reach everybody and
- 15:55Speaker 2: if you just give it to anybody, but mostly someone
- 16:00Speaker 2: who just don't think they can, because I need for
- 16:04Speaker 2: you to know that you can. If he did it
- 16:08Speaker 2: for me, and trust me, he got you. And and
- 16:15Speaker 2: I need you to know that you are a queen.
- 16:17Speaker 2: And it doesn't matter what you've been through, what you
- 16:20Speaker 2: went through, what you're going through, you got this. Even
- 16:24Speaker 2: if it's not today, it's just tomorrow, you still got this.
- 16:29Speaker 2: It's one step at a time, one journey at a time,
- 16:33Speaker 2: one healing at a time. I'm eleven years in and
- 16:37Speaker 2: I'm still healing, I'm still learning, I'm still growing.
- 16:42Speaker 1: Oh my goodness, Well I have somebody who says that
- 16:47Speaker 1: that's my sister. I am so proud of you, Miss
- 16:51Speaker 1: Lynn Guiltful's.
- 16:56Speaker 2: And we had I think the reason I'm in book
- 17:00Speaker 2: she did. She did a book where I think she
- 17:04Speaker 2: might be in footprints, one that she did, and she
- 17:06Speaker 2: was like, you should do it, you should do it,
- 17:08Speaker 2: you should do it. And I finally did. I caught.
- 17:11Speaker 2: I caught Miss Angela at the last moment, like I
- 17:14Speaker 2: and and she allowed me to come. And Slynn Kilfert
- 17:19Speaker 2: is the reason that I'm in this book.
- 17:22Speaker 1: And somebody else says, that's my daughter's grandmother right there.
- 17:31Speaker 1: You know you got to shout out that grand baby.
- 17:34Speaker 2: Yes, that is definitely my Lena. Oh Gord, shout out
- 17:40Speaker 2: to all my grandchildren and children.
- 17:42Speaker 1: Well, hi, all the grandkids, how y'all doing?
- 17:46Speaker 2: And my children, I got six of them.
- 17:50Speaker 1: And six of the kids who helped created the grand kids,
- 17:53Speaker 1: the whole family. Yet wonderful metriarch right here. So what
- 18:00Speaker 1: advice would you give somebody about working on their first book?
- 18:07Speaker 2: Believe in yourself? Oh it took me this long to
- 18:12Speaker 2: write my book because I didn't believe in my work.
- 18:16Speaker 2: Believe in yourself. Have faith in what you write, because
- 18:21Speaker 2: whatever you write is correct because you wrote it. Nobody
- 18:24Speaker 2: can't tell you how you feel, how you felt, what
- 18:27Speaker 2: you should write, And so whether you think it's good
- 18:31Speaker 2: or not, somebody else will. And a lot of times
- 18:35Speaker 2: we don't see our own potential and everybody else do.
- 18:40Speaker 2: So just take a leave of faith.
- 18:43Speaker 1: And see, I'm gonna to stop walking down on the street. Now,
- 18:46Speaker 1: stop walking down the street. Somebody said, come on on
- 18:49Speaker 1: that part, you walking down the street going off my corner.
- 18:52Speaker 2: Now, No, it's true. I would have been had a book.
- 18:57Speaker 2: If I had to just believed in myself, I probably
- 19:00Speaker 2: would be so far in at this mouth. I wouldn't.
- 19:03Speaker 2: Oh no, if I go to open mics, what if
- 19:06Speaker 2: they say, oh, my work is too much about God?
- 19:08Speaker 2: What if they just say I'm just talking them out
- 19:10Speaker 2: here there? And all the while, everything that I was
- 19:13Speaker 2: writing about was something somebody needed to hear, even if
- 19:16Speaker 2: they didn't want to hear it. For one thing, and
- 19:19Speaker 2: it was good, and I just didn't even understand how
- 19:24Speaker 2: good it was. I had to, you know, push through
- 19:27Speaker 2: my own insecurities. But once I got there. Something the
- 19:31Speaker 2: other day I was sitting here just reading over them,
- 19:33Speaker 2: and I'm like, oh, oh, this is good. That's good.
- 19:40Speaker 1: Well, someone says, saying it one more time for them
- 19:42Speaker 1: in the back end, besides you, hey, hold up beside me.
- 19:50Speaker 1: I think you're talking about me. And so what was
- 19:56Speaker 1: the hardest part about writing this?
- 20:03Speaker 2: The hardest part about writing for me is that I'm
- 20:07Speaker 2: writing and healing. And so if I'm writing a poem,
- 20:11Speaker 2: that means I'm going through something. And so it's always
- 20:16Speaker 2: a journey. But the beautiful thing about each one of them,
- 20:20Speaker 2: it always most of them ends with what God did
- 20:25Speaker 2: and how He will bring you through. So, like I said,
- 20:28Speaker 2: I have poems about rape, low self esteem, domestic violence, addiction,
- 20:38Speaker 2: being a crackhead, being a whole, being a bad mother.
- 20:42Speaker 2: And as I was writing, I had to deal with
- 20:45Speaker 2: those issues. I had to deal with who I was,
- 20:49Speaker 2: what I had been through, and how I came through
- 20:52Speaker 2: and thank God, I came through. And that's the best part.
- 20:56Speaker 2: So that in my poetry, it was hard, but it
- 21:02Speaker 2: was beautiful.
- 21:05Speaker 1: So it's so healing if you allow yourself to be free.
- 21:09Speaker 1: That is so true.
- 21:11Speaker 2: Yes, ma'am. So that's funny. One of my poems is
- 21:16Speaker 2: called just let Us Be Free.
- 21:21Speaker 1: Oh wow, So let me tell you what happens on
- 21:25Speaker 1: sc book, Guds and friends. The last ten minutes, we
- 21:29Speaker 1: like to have some fun. Nobody said, yes, you are
- 21:33Speaker 1: teaching tonight, Queen, she is teaching. She just dropping all
- 21:37Speaker 1: kind of nuggets. So the last ten minutes, we like
- 21:41Speaker 1: to have some fun. And me, I just love to.
- 21:44Speaker 1: So if you can have someone to play you and
- 21:51Speaker 1: your bio pic that's going to be based on your
- 21:54Speaker 1: book and she let's just say, we want to do
- 21:59Speaker 1: gospel artists. I haven't done a gospel artist in the time.
- 22:02Speaker 1: Which gospel artists would it be?
- 22:08Speaker 2: Oh that's kind of hard because they have to look
- 22:10Speaker 2: like me. That's a hard look.
- 22:16Speaker 5: Mary J.
- 22:17Speaker 2: Blige would probably have it down back.
- 22:19Speaker 1: Okay, so we're gonna R and B. So you think
- 22:22Speaker 1: Mary J. Blige, you know who I got? I got
- 22:27Speaker 1: Shirley Murdock.
- 22:29Speaker 3: Mm hmmm.
- 22:31Speaker 1: I could see Shirley Murdock. Okay, you would actually have
- 22:36Speaker 1: to know her her background because Shirley murdof for the music.
- 22:42Speaker 1: But if you read her bio, Shirley been through some
- 22:46Speaker 1: spines not some things.
- 22:47Speaker 2: Some fine bangs probably you know what I'm gonna go with.
- 22:54Speaker 2: See Mary been through some things, but she has the
- 22:58Speaker 2: same emotions know that I have, since we have since
- 23:02Speaker 2: we have the same birthday, you know, like I feel,
- 23:09Speaker 2: you know, And a lot of people don't understand. Some
- 23:12Speaker 2: people are so I am such an emotional person. It's
- 23:16Speaker 2: so mixed up and confused, and it takes a lot
- 23:19Speaker 2: for someone to even understand that. A lot of I
- 23:22Speaker 2: love my friends, but sometimes I feel like they don't
- 23:25Speaker 2: get me. It's like a handful that they deal with me,
- 23:29Speaker 2: but it's hard to get me because I'm I'm very
- 23:31Speaker 2: complicated because I'm a thinker and I'm always in my head.
- 23:37Speaker 1: No, you know what. Some people like people like that
- 23:40Speaker 1: because it's and lets some think outside the bout.
- 23:44Speaker 2: Yeah, and because we make it happen, because I'm to
- 23:47Speaker 2: make it happen person right now. And the clown and
- 23:54Speaker 2: the clown I don't dog, don't give me twist, the
- 23:56Speaker 2: girl that sense, the humans, everything.
- 24:00Speaker 1: Have to have it. Like I said, laughter, it's.
- 24:03Speaker 2: Definitely and don't don't get it, don't even matter. First
- 24:06Speaker 2: of all, I already know that I talk kind of funny,
- 24:09Speaker 2: but when I'm mad, Oh my god, it's hilarious. And
- 24:11Speaker 2: I am a straight up clown and I get to
- 24:16Speaker 2: talking and being mad at the same time. Hilarious.
- 24:21Speaker 1: Okay, So I'm down here in Charles's South Caroline and
- 24:24Speaker 1: we did this thing called so when I get mad
- 24:28Speaker 1: and when I'm at work, it just starts coming slow down.
- 24:33Speaker 1: And what did you just say? You know what? I
- 24:35Speaker 1: just say, my daughter? Sometimes Mama, will you say, you know,
- 24:43Speaker 1: just get out of my room. So totally understand you.
- 24:51Speaker 1: So let's see if you can have one song to

- 28:05Speaker 2: fifty what. Oh my god, that was a moment. I

- 28:13Speaker 2: a moment, he'd be bye. He did like for like
- 28:17Speaker 2: ten minutes by Oh my god, for him to be older.
- 28:21Speaker 2: He killed it.

- 28:24Speaker 1: three nephews and I called him to give Fresh Crew.
- 28:29Speaker 1: That's my gift crew. So but one more thing. Okay,
- 28:36Speaker 1: Amazon bestselling author, what would you like to end telling
- 28:42Speaker 1: your readers.
- 28:47Speaker 2: Well, first I want to tell you thank you. Thank
- 28:51Speaker 2: you for all those who bought the book, who will
- 28:53Speaker 2: buy the book, thank you for all those who showed up.
- 28:56Speaker 2: And just I just want to just tell people to
- 29:03Speaker 2: love theirself and it's okay to go through something. It's
- 29:07Speaker 2: okay no matter where you at in your life. Just
- 29:13Speaker 2: love yourself because I love you. God loves you, and
- 29:18Speaker 2: you are special. You are beautiful, you are wonderful. No matter,
- 29:22Speaker 2: Oh my God, for like crying, no matter what you're
- 29:24Speaker 2: going through, you got this, no matter what's happening in
- 29:29Speaker 2: your life. You got this. You are special. You are
- 29:34Speaker 2: a queen, you are a king, you are strong, you
- 29:39Speaker 2: are wonderfully made. And just don't give up, not or nothing.
- 29:46Speaker 2: Whether you're a writer, whether you're a cook, what do
- 29:49Speaker 2: you just sitting on your cow? Just don't give up
- 29:52Speaker 2: on yourself. Love yourself because you are wonderful. Is nothing
- 30:00Speaker 2: that you can't do. Nothing, nothing is impossible with God. Nothing.
- 30:08Speaker 2: And I'm talking from experience.
- 30:11Speaker 1: So beautiful. That was so beautiful. Yeah, people want to cry.
- 30:16Speaker 1: Don't do that. Now, I don't do that. Don't do that.

- 30:25Speaker 2: And that don't mean that success looks like a lot
- 30:28Speaker 2: of money because I don't have a lot of money.
- 30:30Speaker 2: But I am so rich. Yes, I am so rich,
- 30:34Speaker 2: and it just it just it. Succeeding just means loving yourself,
- 30:40Speaker 2: being confident walking down the street. It just means that
- 30:44Speaker 2: every day you feel better about yourself. Every day, every
- 30:51Speaker 2: day when you wake up in the morning, if you
- 30:53Speaker 2: grew one new eyelash, you look better. I'll go look
- 30:56Speaker 2: at this little all around I'm getting killed.
- 30:58Speaker 1: Now, that's what I gotta agree on here. So I
- 31:03Speaker 1: think that might be you.
- 31:05Speaker 2: Because right exactly, because gray men, you made it to
- 31:09Speaker 2: somewhere a lot of people didn't.
- 31:11Speaker 1: And you know what, that's that's that's that's especially where
- 31:15Speaker 1: I live at I think about that all the time
- 31:18Speaker 1: because there are people that are leaving this earth so young,
- 31:24Speaker 1: and yeah, it's crazy, ridiculous. Someone says, bless you, Queen.

- 32:15Speaker 2: when I say, just don't give up, just because I
- 32:19Speaker 2: never thought I'd be sitting here doing interviews with my
- 32:21Speaker 2: grandchildren watching me. Those are things I never thought I
- 32:24Speaker 2: would have and I have them today, like we are
- 32:28Speaker 2: so blessed. Don't don't give up everybody's blessings is coming somehow,
- 32:33Speaker 2: some way. It's not the same as mine, your blessings
- 32:36Speaker 2: and your blessings, but they come in. Just don't give
- 32:39Speaker 2: up because life gets so much better and you will
- 32:42Speaker 2: never know that. If you give up, you will never
- 32:45Speaker 2: know that.
- 32:46Speaker 1: Keep on pushing. Gods right, they're like, come on, I
- 32:48Speaker 1: got you. Just think I got four of them. You
