- 0:09You're listening to the Hidden Lightness on America Out Loud Talk Radio.
- 0:13I'm your host, Jimmy Hinton.
- 0:14Well, this is Soap Box Friday.
- 0:17I'm gonna go on my soapbox about vehicles.
- 0:21And if you own a vehicle, you have got to listen to this episode.
- 0:26Uh that's probably all of us.
- 0:31And you know that for a long time I've talked about uh one of the biggest issues that I see is car manufacturers selling expensive junk.
- 0:42They wrap a turd and wrapping paper, and they have all these bells and whistles, and they're like, oh, look how great this vehicle is.
- 0:52I mean, it looks nice.
- 0:54The new vehicles, most of them look nice, but they're expensive piles of junk, and some of them hundred plus thousand piles of junk.
- 1:06And I guess at the end of the day, um my message is let these companies fail.
- 1:15We've got to stop propping up these companies, both the consumers and the government, and uh we've got to let them fail because these companies, and it's sad, they used to build really good cars, and they've turned to total junk.
- 1:33So there was an article that caught my attention, and it just uh just published, I believe, yesterday.
- 1:39Um Ford recalls more than 83,000 vehicles over headlight engine valve issues.
- 1:49All right, uh that caught my attention, and here's why.
- 1:54Ford is repeatedly in the news, and I I had to look this up to make sure that this wasn't my imagination.
- 2:02Uh, and it's not.
- 2:05I looked it up.
- 2:06Ford has spent a record amount of numb numbers, uh, a record amount of money, and has had a record amount of numbers of recalls just last year.
- 2:20It's like every year their vehicles get worse and worse.
- 2:24The quality is crap, total garbage.
- 2:29And I know the die hard loyalists are gonna be like, well, my vehicle has you know 200,000 miles, and I I never had a problem.
- 2:38That's not the norm.
- 2:41That's the exception to the rule.
- 2:44The vast majority of owners of major uh the the major manufacturers are having massive issues.
- 2:53I mean, uh I'm not talking just issues, so this isn't like uh a matter of, well, you know, I I have a car that I have problems with.
- 3:03These are life altering issues.
- 3:08Now, people put a lot, actually, too much.
- 3:12Uh, they put too much money, too much of their income, they overextend themselves because we're told that's the American dream, right?
- 3:21To have a car, at least one car for every family member, and people buy into that, and they overextend themselves.
- 3:32How do we know this?
- 3:33Well, um, the recalls just last year, or not recalls, the um uh repos repossessions reached a staggering three million vehicles in the United States.
- 3:50Three million vehicles were repossessed.
- 3:54People are overextending themselves, and I hate to say this, you know, it's easy to point fingers at people, but a lot of this is not their fault.
- 4:04A lot of this is people buy cars thinking that they're getting a dependable car, and next thing they're having eight, twelve, twenty thousand dollar repairs, and I'm not exaggerating.
- 4:18I mean, some of these repairs are as expensive or more expensive than the vehicle than what it's worth.
- 4:26It's absolute insanity.
- 4:28So, yeah, we're not talking like little light issues, headlight issue.
- 4:34Uh, I'll read about that.
- 4:36That one's uh kind of interesting.
- 4:38So the headlights end up, it's it's these stupid headlights that they uh they pivot as you as you turn the steering wheel.
- 4:48And they just overload these vehicles with so much crap, unnecessary stuff that it sounds nice.
- 4:58Oh, well, you know, you know, and they talk all fancy.
- 5:01Well, the headlights, they they curve as you're going around the curve, and they you know, because light can't bend, so what do we do?
- 5:11We bend the the uh the headlight fixture, and then you can see around the turn.
- 5:19Folks, it's a gimmick.
- 5:22It's it's so unnecessary.
- 5:26But anyway, the Ford, in all their brilliance, they have the headlights pointing the wrong direction.
- 5:33So as you go into a right turn, the headlights point to the left.
- 5:40Making it.
- 5:41I mean, I'm not making this up.
- 5:44It makes the road completely dark.
- 5:49Uh it it it's dangerous.
- 5:52Engine valve issues.
- 5:56That's not a cheap issue.
- 5:57That's not a cheap issue to fix for the manufacturer or if a car is out of warranty for the owner.
- 6:05So Ford recalled more than 83,000 vehicles in two separate actions due to issues that could increase the risk of crash, federal regulator said.
- 6:17The first recall effects 35,000 772 model year 2025 and 2026 explorer SUVs.
- 6:29And the dynamic bending light feature.
- 6:32See, see what I mean?
- 6:33See how fancy they make it sound.
- 6:35Oh, the dynamic light bending feature.
- 6:38I need that.
- 6:41You can have it.
- 6:47A motor.
- 6:49It's just one more thing to break.
- 6:50It's tied into the computer.
- 6:53It's just so much stuff that they're loading these vehicles down with.
- 6:58So much unnecessary technology, and they're junk.
- 7:02Absolutely.
- 7:04The affected vehicles have an incorrect headlamp control module, software calibration that results in the right headlight turning in the opposite direction of a vehicle.
- 7:17Sounds safe to me.
- 7:19Why don't we go a step further?
- 7:21Why don't we just uh shut the headlights off?
- 7:24Let's just glitch them out.
- 7:26And uh, you know, I've driven I've driven uh GM vehicles that were the glitchiest.
- 7:33I mean, literally nothing electronic worked on those things.
- 7:39I've had headlights short out, I've had it's the um, oh, what's the control module?
- 7:46I've replaced like three of them basically every 10,000 miles they go out.
- 7:50It's that uh control module under the dashboard.
- 7:54Any of you that have uh an older GM, you'll know what I'm talking about, but it controls the uh the vents inside your vehicle, and so it'll sit there and it'll it'll clack really loud, and it's like dot dot sounds like somebody's beaten your windshield out.
- 8:12First time it went off, it scared the living daylights out of me.
- 8:15I about crashed because it caught me off guard.
- 8:18I was like, what in the world is that?
- 8:22And those those modules are total junk, and they're like way up under the dashboard.
- 8:28I replaced it myself, but what a pain in the butt.
- 8:32It's just uh total garbage.
- 8:34I mean, these vehicles are junk.
- 8:38And people are people are paying a fortune.
- 8:43I mean, uh, what's what's the average cost of a vehicle now?
- 8:48Uh here we are.
- 8:49As of early 2026, the average transaction price, ATP for a new vehicle in the United States is hovering just under or around, you ready for this?
- 9:0349,000 to 50 plus thousand.
- 9:08That's average.
- 9:11The average trans, you're buying a 50,000, and good luck finding a decent vehicle for 50,000.
- 9:22They're junk.
- 9:24You're paying for a $50,000 piece of junk that is constantly breaking down.
- 9:30And I'm gonna get into the specifics.
- 9:32I mean, I'm talking major engine problems, transmission problems, major problems.
- 9:37And by the way, here's uh the dirty little secret, they're not fixing them.
- 9:43The manufacturers are not actually fixing them.
- 9:49And how this is even legal is 100% beyond me.
- 9:54What they're doing is because they're so computerized, they uh they install software and
- 10:00That tricks the transmission in the engines into thinking that they're actually working properly when they're not.
- 10:08Oh, yeah.
- 10:10This is the kind of shady stuff that GM is involved in.
- 10:16Um here.
- 10:18Let's start with the transmission while I brought it up.
- 10:20GM 10 speed automatic transmission recall fix.
- 10:24Band-aid or reliable.
- 10:26This was written in September, uh, September of 2025, so very recent.
- 10:33The GM 10 speed automatic transmission transmission fix recall saga has entered a new stage with a new fix on the way, yet the controversy isn't over.
- 10:44This fix includes changes to the valve body unit, the brains of the transmission, incorporating three new components.
- 10:52A new plate, a valve, a new bigger spring, meant to finally solve the rear wheel lockup issue at higher speeds.
- 11:04Literally, these things, you you can look them up.
- 11:07You can look up the videos, and the rear wheels literally lock up.
- 11:12I mean, nothing says quality like having your wheels lock up at highway speeds at 75, 80 miles an hour.
- 11:22So how do they fix it?
- 11:24What's their fix?
- 11:25Well, you would think that they would engineer a decent transmission.
- 11:32After all, they used to.
- 11:33They used to have great transmissions.
- 11:36And especially the Allison transmission, and that's the transmission that's in question.
- 11:42In fact, this transmission is an Allison licensed transmission.
- 11:48And it's a validated transmission, but it's not an Allison engineered transmission, and that's the difference.
- 11:55I've driven Allison Transmissions.
- 11:57Allison transmissions are like they really have a reputation for being indestructible.
- 12:04They're good transmissions.
- 12:07But uh, yeah, they wanted to work around and make things cheaper, and they're paying a price for it.
- 12:13In fact, the customers are the ones paying the price for it.
- 12:18So if you think this is bad, it gets worse.
- 12:22The problem first flagged in November 2024 prompted a recall affecting both 1500 and HD Chevy Silverado, GMC Sierra, and several GM SUVs.
- 12:37The failures have left commercial operators and private owners without drivable vehicles, sometimes for weeks at a time.
- 12:46Oh, it gets worse.
- 12:48This issue is more prominent in diesel powered trucks and SUVs due to the amount of twerk and loads that they're often towing.
- 12:58Folks, we're talking about 80 to 11,000 trucks.
- 13:05And they're junk.
- 13:06They're literally junk.
- 13:10To address the problem, GM introduced a new Gen 3 valve body for light duty trucks and later for HD trucks.
- 13:20Uh it uses checkballs or boost balls.
- 13:25This was changed in 2019.
- 13:29Excuse me.
- 13:31And uh even these are they're not working properly.
- 13:40Uh, it's just so crazy.
- 13:43It gets worse.
- 13:45Like just when you think it can't get any worse, it gets worse.
- 13:50The problem is the new valve body GM introduced.
- 13:53This is the new uh check valve body that they introduced.
- 13:57The new valve body GM introduced has caused an issue where the system could try to shift to a lower gear very rapidly at high speeds, and the transmission decides why not both gears.
- 14:10This causes the rear wheels to lock up at high speeds.
- 14:15That's crazy.
- 14:17And the transmission.
- 14:19Um transmission literally locks up.
- 14:25So GM developed a band-aid fix, initially forcing the truck into limp mode when this happens.
- 14:35Limp mode, I used to drive uh I drove truck and I had trucks that would go into limp mode, and it's so stinking annoying.
- 14:44It it essentially cuts the power back where your truck can top out at about 45 miles an hour.
- 14:52It reduces the speed, it reduces the horsepower, and there's nothing you can do about it.
- 14:57I mean, when it goes into limp mode, it's game over.
- 15:02So it forces the owner to pull over, drive at a slow speed, so you're driving up the shoulder of the highway.
- 15:08If you're on the interstate, it's very dangerous.
- 15:13But I guess that's GM's alternative to having the wheels lock up.
- 15:19Then the owner would have to wait for a replacement part, and this could drag on for months as the the drive.com detailed for one U.S.
- 15:28Air Force member.
- 15:30And I've heard stories.
- 15:32I've heard stories from friends of mine who've waited months and haven't gotten a solution.
- 15:38Can you imagine making payments on an 80 to 100,000 truck that's literally useless?
- 15:47That's terrible.
- 15:48And this is just the transmission problem.
- 15:50Uh, GM has a major engine problem.
- 15:55Major engine problems in virtually all of their trucks now.
- 16:01There they are garbage on wheels.
- 16:05It's a trash bin on wheels.
- 16:08A very expensive one.
- 16:11So uh yeah, they keep coming up with these fixes, and it's like every fix makes it worse.
- 16:20So here's a quote.
- 16:22Uh it's stuff that obviously doesn't make a difference.
- 16:26But if you're not a transmission engineer, you would have no idea.
- 16:30So the separator plate is General Motors uh giving them a high five, in my opinion.
- 16:36That's right.
- 16:38They're not even utilizing transmission engineers, they're just they're they're figuring out software.
- 16:44You know, they're turning to the software engineers, and they're like, hey, how do we basically how do we put a band-aid on this and uh cross our fingers and hope this problem just goes away?
- 16:56It's a terrible way to do business, but uh yeah, I have a slogan.
- 17:00Let's make cars great again.

- 19:58That's my new slogan.
- 19:59That's my slogan.
- 20:00Slogan for today.
- 20:01Make cars great again.
- 20:03These cars are literally bankrupting people.
- 20:07I mean, people it really does get me upset because people need vehicles, right?
- 20:14You you have to have them.
- 20:16You have to have transportation to get to and from work to bring your kids to all their ball games and all their activities after school activities to and from school a lot of the times.
- 20:28You have to have a dependable vehicle.
- 20:31And these cars are total junk, and they're they're charging people.
- 20:35It wouldn't be that bad if it was like a Yugo, you know, where like you already know it's a piece of junk when you buy it and it's dirt cheap.
- 20:43But these vehicles are so expensive.
- 20:48They're very overpriced for what they are, and a lot of the main manufacturers are in very big trouble.
- 20:57You know, uh, car sales have already slowed way down.
- 21:01Uh signs are kind of pointing towards at least possibly a mild recession.
- 21:08You know, the economy's resilient, but uh that's one of the first things it goes is people stop buying cars.
- 21:17And right now, the manufacturers, it's kind of kind of going to be a repeat of 2008.
- 21:23Remember when President Obama was bailing out all the major car companies and forcing them to close.
- 21:30The government literally came in and told them which dealerships they had to close.
- 21:35Then they did the whole cash for clunkers, trying to try to entice people to buy brand new vehicles, yeah.
- 21:42Take your quote unquote clunker in, even if it's in good working order, you can take it in, and they would uh put you know, pour sand and shards of glass down the down the oil pan and junk the motor.
- 21:57I mean, it was absolutely crazy.
- 22:01And what that did is it superficially drove the price of used vehicles way up, and it forced people to buy brand new, and uh, you know, now we're right back in a worse position than we were in 2008.
- 22:18So GM has a major, major, major, major problem on its hands, and this is only one manufacturer.
- 22:25I'm not just picking on GM.
- 22:27Uh, I'm just pointing out that this is a very, very deep, this is a cultural issue within the manufacturing in the United States.
- 22:37It's a cultural issue that says, let's just throw band-aids on things and you know, we're gonna sell them complete garbage, and uh hope that brand loyalty keep keeps bringing them back.
- 22:52Well, I got news for people.
- 22:56I got news for these manufacturers.
- 22:59People are gonna leave these brands forever, and they probably should.
- 23:04So I was talking about GM with their transmission problem, and they keep doing these little band-aid fixes, which are not fixes at all.
- 23:12All it's doing is it's masking the major issue.
- 23:15These transmissions are garbage.
- 23:19I want to read a little bit here.
- 23:20Uh, this is pickup truck talk.com.
- 23:24Independent transmission specialist Nate Valentin from Next Gen Drivetrain has been vocal in criticizing GM's design, calling it flawed compared to Ford's version of the co-developed gearbox.
- 23:39Nate said uh the kit that they believe, or so they claim is going to fix uh this problem is a separator plate, a valve and a spring.
- 23:50So let's break them down one by one.
- 23:52So the plate, the only thing they didn't uh they did, I've seen this separator plate before because we've built a lot of 2025 valve bodies, and it's currently in use.
- 24:06The separator plate is not one ounce more reliable than the one that was in it before.
- 24:13All they did was change some of the whole dimensions.
- 24:18That's crazy to me.
- 24:21So here's a transmission expert saying the only thing that GM did is they changed the plate, and that separator plate is garbage, it's literally no different.
- 24:33They just changed a couple hole dimensions, it's literally no no different, it doesn't solve the problem.
- 24:41So he also believes a spring and the aluminum plate does nothing to address the core issue either.
- 24:50Uh the oil leaks out, it doesn't allow the inboard side of the nose of the valve to fully close.
- 25:00So the truck, usually in fifth gear, can't shift, and then it goes into limp mode.
- 25:08So it only makes it to fifth gear out of 10 and it goes into limp mode.
- 25:13And this is happening a lot.
- 25:15I mean, by the tens of thousands.
- 25:19Absolutely crazy.
- 25:24Um here we go.
- 25:26Here's here's his solution.
- 25:27On the one hand, Valentin has been tearing apart GM's valve bodies and re-engineering them since COVID.
- 25:35He has his solution with a lifetime guarantee and has become a go-to source of parts for frustrated owners, tired of waiting for a GM replacement part to arrive.
- 25:49However, he spares no expense.
- 25:52And his valve body, okay.
- 25:54So here's an independent guy.
- 25:55You can get a part from an independent guy who's not even a GM uh uh engineer.
- 26:06Listen to what his valve body price is.
- 26:09Now he guarantees it for life, but his valve body just for the valve body is priced at $3,500.
- 26:18That's just for the part.
- 26:20Not covered by GM, not covered by warranty.
- 26:25Um crazy.
- 26:29Absolutely.
- 26:31GM's automatic transmission upper control valve body replacement part is priced in the hundreds of dollars.
- 26:40And it's it is covered under warranty.
- 26:44Um people are gonna opt.
- 26:48What do you think they're gonna opt for?
- 26:50Owners are opting for the free one, the one that GM's putting out that's garbage.
- 26:58Free labor, free valve, uh the valve plate, and they're putting it in, and the transmissions are still blowing up.
- 27:09And what GM is hoping happens is that people kind of ride the warranty out and that these things hold together until until the warranty's up at 60,000 miles, and then they could care less if these things blow, which they will.
- 27:25Crazy.
- 27:27This is crazy.
- 27:30Or owners could opt.
- 27:31Now, keep in mind, this is on 80 to 100,000 trucks, or they could opt to buy uh uh an expensive valve body for 3500 that actually does work, but then you have labor in the thousands of dollars.
- 27:47So for a transmission rebuild, you're probably looking at in the ballpark.
- 27:51My guess is in the ballpark of seven to seven to ten thousand on a brand new truck on a brand new truck.
- 28:07Uh how does this even happen?
- 28:14All right, what about the engines?
- 28:16GM has a major engine problem.
- 28:18Here's another article.
- 28:21Uh this was published just a few months ago.
- 28:24GM's V8 engine fix gives owners two bad choices.
- 28:28Lawsuit alleges.
- 28:31In April, General Motors issued a massive recall for problems with its L87 6.2 liter V8 truck engines.
- 28:40Nearly 600,000 Chevy Silver Auto, Tahoe, and Suburban GMC UConn and Sierra, Cadillac Escalade vehicles from 2021 to 24 were affected with tens of thousands of those trucks expected to need a brand new engine.
- 29:00How do you have that many pieces of garbage make it across the assembly line?
- 29:08They had to have known that there was a problem, and they just kept pumping them out and pumping them out.
- 29:15It's crazy to me.
- 29:19You know, rather than stop production and say, we better figure this out.
- 29:23Houston, we have a problem.
- 29:26Somebody or a series of somebody were like, eh, screw it.
- 29:35Just keep pumping them out.
- 29:37Not our problem.
- 29:39I can't imagine.
- 29:43So a lot of these engines, they say it's not because the engines could fail, or even because of the delays in getting trucks repaired.
- 29:52It's because once the recall has been completed, the big V8 powered trucks won't get the fuel economy their buyers expect.
- 30:02So they take engines that have a major problem.
- 30:06These V8s are junk.
- 30:07They're garbage.
- 30:08I've heard mechanics talk about it.
- 30:09I've watched plenty of videos.
- 30:11These engines are total garbage.
- 30:14Literal garbage.
- 30:17So they have this recall.
- 30:20And the fix, once they come back from the recall, are getting horrific fuel mileage.
- 30:27And owners are not happy with it.
- 30:30And I can't blame them.
- 30:40Because they're 420 horsepower, they require premium gasoline.
- 30:47And they have an EPA fuel economy estimates as low as 14 miles per gallon.
- 30:57That's crazy.
- 31:0014 miles per gallon.
- 31:02You have to buy premium gas.
- 31:0693 octane.
- 31:08You can't put 87 octane in it.
- 31:12And that gas is expensive.
- 31:17So here we go.
- 31:18Um it gets worse for GM.
- 31:21The defect with the engines is in the connecting rods and or the crankshaft.
- 31:27There's a manufacturing defect, which GM didn't elaborate on that can cause the engines to fail suddenly and in some cases catastrophically.
- 31:39That's wild.
- 31:41In NHTSA recall documents, GM said that it had investigated 28,102 incidents potentially related to failures.
- 31:53There were 12 potentially related alleged crashes and 12 potentially related alleged injuries in the U.S., GM said.
- 32:02And 42 potentially related allegations of fire.
- 32:09The fix is an engine inspection.
- 32:11If the truck needs a new engine, it will get one.
- 32:15If the engine is still okay, GM will change the oil grade and update the oil fill cap and owner's manual to match.
- 32:27Do you hear the fix?
- 32:29That will just put a different weight oil in it.
- 32:32It'll be fine.
- 32:43These V8 engines, like most new gas engines, left the factory with zero W20 engine oil.
- 32:50Their recall fix changes the zero W that to zero W40 oil.
- 32:57So it's a thicker oil at operating temperature.
- 33:03You know, uh to keep the heat down a little bit inside the engine.
- 33:11I can tell you this is not this is not a fix.
- 33:17This is not a fix.
- 33:22Absolutely crazy.
- 33:25Uh GM's not alone.
- 33:27I mean, they've got a big big problem.
- 33:29As I mentioned, Ford, they have this um major, major problem.
- 33:35Major problem with theirs.
- 33:3783,000 vehicles in two separate actions due to issues that could increase the risk of crash.
- 33:44Again, we have the headlamp control module, which uh turns the headlight in the wrong direction when you're going around a curve.
- 33:52But then there's a major engine problem.
- 33:56Um they're gonna do software, a software fix.
- 34:00That's real promising.
- 34:02Uh to fix the headlight control module.
- 34:07So apparently that's a software issue to begin with.
- 34:09That's why I don't like all this computerized stuff.
- 34:13You know, give me the old car, give me a manual transmission.
- 34:16That's what they ought to do, but they don't make them anymore.
- 34:19It's getting nearly impossible to get a manual transmission.
- 34:23Everything's automatic and the automatics are junk, they're garbage.
- 34:28In a separate action, Ford is recalling 47,804 vehicles due to issues with the engine gas recirculation, EGR valve that could lead to a loss of power, most likely at low speeds, which Ford said increases the risk of a crash.
- 34:44Yeah, you think you go to pull out at a stoplight or a stop sign.
- 34:51You pull out in front of traffic thinking you're gonna be able to accelerate and pukes out, you get nothing.
- 34:59The recall affects certain year model uh 2025 Ranger, Mustang, Maverick, Explorer, Escape, Bronco, Bronco Sport, Lincoln Nautilus, and Corsair vehicles with 1.5 liter, 2.0 liter or 2.3 liter engines.
- 35:18On and on it goes.
- 35:19I mean, I have I have a whole list.
- 35:23I'm just getting warmed up here.
- 35:28Millions of Hyundai and Kia vehicles built between 2011 and 2022 were manufactured without standard engine immobilizers.
- 35:41Uh they can be hot wired.
- 35:45I think they're the number one vehicles that get stolen.
- 35:48They can easily be hot wired, uh, which led to an explosion in thefts.
- 35:57So again, they issued a band-aid fix.
- 36:00They tried to solve the physical hardware problem with a software update, but thieves figure out how to bypass the software, forcing the companies to finally offer physical hardware fixes, which were zinc reinforced ignition cylinders.
- 36:19Uh, on top of a 200 million dollar consumer class action settlement, they just reached another 9 million multi-state settlement in December, just a couple months ago with 35 attorneys general.
- 36:38Major insurance companies began refusing to issue new policies for certain Hyundai and Kia models.
- 36:47Uh there are fire risks, melting fuel tanks, Hyundai and Kiev historically struggled with engine fire risks.
- 36:57November 2025, they recalled over 335,000 popular sedan, Hyundai Sonata and Kia K5.
- 37:10This is wild to me.
- 37:12I've never seen anything like it.
- 37:15Uh the EVs are junk.
- 37:19EV power loss and software glitches.
- 37:24Everybody was on the EV bandwagon.
- 37:26You you gotta go electric.
- 37:29And they're garbage.
- 37:31Catching fire, losing power, not charging, on and on.
- 37:36Uh, we need to make cars good again.
- 37:40Maybe President Trump should get on that.
- 37:42Make cars good again, make cars great again.

- 39:16I want to get that bumper sticker.
- 39:17I want to get t-shirts.
- 39:19I want to I want to pay for billboards.
- 39:21I want this message out there.
- 39:23Make cars great again.
- 39:24Americans are fed up.
- 39:26Americans are tired of it.
- 39:28And a lot of these car companies, I believe, are going to start failing.
- 39:33And they should.
- 39:36When you build garbage, when all these recalls slip past, and the warranty department is well aware of these issues.
- 39:46And I know.
- 39:47I've I've read plenty of reports on this.
- 39:51They know and they continue to kick these cars out for months and months and months.
- 39:56And they deny the problem in warranty department.
- 39:58They, you know, they brush.
- 40:00Customers off, and they say, well, maybe, you know, maybe you're just imagining that there's a problem.
- 40:07Like they really gaslight the customers.
- 40:10And it's just crazy when you're paying $50,000 on average in America for a new car, and they're complete garbage.
- 40:20Cars catching on fire.
- 40:22Uh, the GDI engine that Kia and Hyundai puts out is total garbage.
- 40:27Uh, it's been known to be garbage.
- 40:29You cannot rebuild those engines.
- 40:32Uh, there's not a mechanic in the nation who's going to attempt to rebuild one of those engines.
- 40:39You cannot rebuild them.
- 40:42And so when there are problems, and there will be problems with them.
- 40:47The solution is you get a new engine or get a new car.
- 40:52And uh Kia extended their warranty.
- 40:56I think Hyundai did too, and that was their band-aid solution.
- 41:00Well, let's milk a few more miles out of the warranty.
- 41:05And what that tells me is that they're crossing their fingers, hoping that most of these cars make it past the uh when the warranty is up at 120,000 miles.
- 41:16Now that sounds like a great warranty, but if your car craps out at 130,000 miles, I don't think that's that good.
- 41:23That's not impressive.
- 41:26So those engines are using oil, they're seizing up, they have valve problems where they have that they knock real loud, just on and on and on, catching fire.
- 41:35They're garbage.
- 41:37They literally are garbage.
- 41:41So here's an article.
- 41:42Uh, this was very recently.
- 41:44This is just in December.
- 41:47American consumers lose patience with high car prices.
- 41:52For years it has seemed no sticker price was too high for American car buyers.
- 41:57Even as average new car prices approached 50,000 this year, dealers fretted more over depleted inventories than losing customers to sticker shock.
- 42:08Those days are coming to an end, reports the Wall Street Journal.
- 42:12Increasingly, stretched consumers are starting to draw the line on what they will pay for a new car, according to dealers, analyst, and industry data.
- 42:21Car buyers are downsizing, buying used vehicles, taking on longer car loans, and holding out for deals.
- 42:29People are asking, how can I afford this?
- 42:32Said Robert Robert Peltier, who owns car dealerships in East Texas.
- 42:40He said traffic, while still solid has slowed at his dealerships, and more customers are gravitating toward less costly cars, such as the pint-sized Chevy tracks.
- 42:53There are people who are in debt and living paycheck to paycheck.
- 42:58Exactly right.
- 43:01For the for the U.S.
- 43:02auto industry, 2025 was supposed to be a banner year fueled by tax cuts and deregulatory wave.
- 43:11Yeah, that was the promise, right?
- 43:14Trump touted that.
- 43:15Oh my goodness, like, you know, we're gonna deregulate the car industry, and people are gonna be buying cars like crazy.
- 43:23Well, it turns out people aren't fools.
- 43:28They don't want to buy garbage.
- 43:32They can strip away the emissions regulatory garbage.
- 43:38And people still don't want to buy vehicles that are going to crap out after 20,000 miles, and they don't want to pay $50,000 just for the vehicle, and then the cost of repairs on top of that.
- 43:53Constant repairs.
- 43:57So, yeah, it's really interesting.
- 43:59And uh, I think the American people are finally getting smart, finally getting smart to this and realizing we've been conned for a really long time by these car manufacturers.
- 44:13I mean, they're absolute monstrosities, and people are done with it, and I think that's a good thing.
- 44:21You know, it sounds like I'm just uh using this as a time to gripe and complain, but I really honestly, honest to goodness, I see this all as a good thing.
- 44:31Let the manufacturers fail, make cars great again.
- 44:40There was a day when cars were really decent, Ford, GM, uh, even Dodge, they all used to put decent vehicles out.
- 44:51And now the amount of electrical issues, uh, just on and on and on.
- 44:55It's just mounting, mounting major issues, transmission issues, engine issues, fire issues, software issues, hardware issues, suspension issues, brake issues, brakes failing.
- 45:10The list goes on and on and on.
- 45:12I'm just uh I'm reading through a list here.
- 45:15I literally didn't even scratch the surface with this list.
- 45:20This is a never-ending list of problems, and it's getting worse, it's not getting better.
- 45:28And I'm I am a big big proponent because I happen to like investing.
- 45:37I like to keep my dollars and put my dollars to work.
- 45:42I don't like to give them to con companies that build complete garbage and gaslight their customers when they're paying 50 to 100 grand for a vehicle, and then they gaslight them and tell them, well, there's no problem with your car.
- 45:56I'd rather not give money to them.
- 45:58I'd rather buy a decent vehicle, run it until the wheels fall off, sometimes literally, and uh take that money and and and invest it.
- 46:11At the end of the day, uh who cares what you drive.
- 46:16And I know people can argue with that, and that's fine.
- 46:19That's people have a right to buy whatever they want.
- 46:25And if people want something that looks nice, I'm certainly not going to judge.
- 46:31I think it's great.
- 46:32I think it's fantastic, but at the end of the day, these are depreciating quickly, depreciating pieces of metal that will wind up in a landfill one day.
- 46:45It just happens that the major car manufacturers have put that on steroids and they've sped up that process, and these things are winding up in the junkyard a whole lot sooner than anybody ever anticipated.
- 47:01And it's hurting Americans, and that's where I get defensive.
- 47:08I want to defend the people who are putting their hard-earned money.
- 47:11I mean, people work hard.
- 47:14It takes a long time to pay off $50,000.
- 47:19On average, cars are $50,000.
- 47:21It takes a long time to work that off.
- 47:25So I would rather see somebody enjoy something that's reliable, something that's fun, fun to drive, looks good.
- 47:32You know, might have a few bells and whistles, but but it's dependable.
- 47:36At the bottom, you know, the bottom line at the end of the day, it's dependable.
- 47:41I have a vehicle right now with 207,000 miles on it.
- 47:48And it drives like it's brand new, and I'm not exaggerating.
- 47:52It's it drives so so well.
- 47:56And I'll keep that at least until it has 300,000 miles, at least.
- 48:04And I've done that with every single one of my vehicles.
- 48:11But I refuse.
- 48:14I refuse to buy these cars that are just complete garbage, that people know they're garbage.
- 48:23Do your homework.
- 48:24That's my plea to everybody who's listening.
- 48:28You know, that's that's the hidden lightness in this, is that these companies are gonna pay a price for this.
- 48:33They're not gonna get away with this forever.
- 48:36The American people are gonna figure this out.
- 48:39They already are.
- 48:57Toyota still puts really really good quality cars out there.
- 49:03Now they've had their own recalls, every manufacturer does, and that's gonna happen.
- 49:07It happens with anything that's manufactured.
- 49:10I'm not saying that uh a car should be recall free and that there should never be any problems.
- 49:16It's there's always gonna be problems, but you can tell a very big difference in build quality.
- 49:25I've seen cars off of the lot that have had big gaps, like a big the hood was completely crooked.
- 49:35There are big gaps between the hood and the fender on one side and tight on the other side, paint flaws, just basic stuff that you're like, did they literally just slap this together?
- 49:51I mean, we can do better than that.
- 49:54I'm all about made in America, but if our quality is good.
- 50:02Yeah, that's the president's plea is we're gonna make everything made in America.
- 50:08Make America great again.
- 50:09Everything's gonna be made in America.
- 50:11Okay, great.
- 50:14But don't sell us garbage.
- 50:17Don't you dare sell me something that I have to have to get to and from my job, to get my kids to and from school, to go on vacation, you name it.
- 50:29To work.
- 50:31Uh a lot of farmers.
- 50:35And uh all types of workers that use their vehicle as a work vehicle.
- 50:44Don't sell garbage.
- 50:48I think that's the line in the sand, and Americans need to stand up and just quit buying them.
- 50:54You know, find find a vehicle that's dependable.
- 50:57Do your homework.
- 51:00You know, I always do my homework now when I buy a car.
- 51:04I always do my homework.
- 51:05And I look for dependability.
- 51:08I look for reliability over a period of years.
- 51:12Uh my wife and I buy our vehicles used.
- 51:14We only bought one brand new vehicle ever, and that's the last one that we'll ever buy.
- 51:20That was when COVID prices, the cost of cars were super expensive for used cars, and it was actually the same price to buy a brand new vehicle as it would have been to buy one with 100,000 miles on it.
- 51:36Well, it would have been foolish to buy a car with 100,000 miles on it at the same price that we were buying a brand new car.
- 51:45So we bought the brand new car.
- 51:47I didn't like it.
- 51:48I don't like buying brand new cars, but we did it anyway.
- 51:53But when we buy a car, we do our homework and we look at the trajectory.
- 51:58We look at the history of that car over the past, you know, four or five years.
- 52:07What complaints have there been?
- 52:08What consumer complaints have there been?
- 52:10Uh, what recalls, if any, have there been, uh, what's the dependability factor?
- 52:15How do different car companies rate them?
- 52:17I watch YouTube videos.
- 52:18I literally do hours of homework before buying a car because it's a big purchase.
- 52:24Even used cars that we've bought for $10,000.
- 52:31You know, if I'm gonna be driving something for a couple hundred thousand miles, I'm gonna put it that's worth putting a few hours of research into.
- 52:41Yeah, I don't want to just walk on a lot and be like any meaning money mo, I want that one because it looks good.
- 52:49So my plea to you is do your homework and do not buy a poorly rated vehicle.
- 52:57Because it's gonna cost you.
- 52:59And I'm not talking about the sticker shock.
- 53:02I'm talking about in repairs, downtime.
- 53:06Manufacturers not getting rental cars for you.
- 53:12Believe it or not, that happens.
- 53:15Yeah, it happens often.
- 53:17They'll give you a rental for a week, and then after that, they say, well, that's all that we're gonna cover.
- 53:23You'll have to see if your insurance company will cover the rest.
- 53:25Well, insurance companies aren't gonna cover that.
- 53:30And so the customers, and you you heard the articles that I was reading.
- 53:35Some of these people are going months with their vehicles tied up, not working, brand new vehicles sitting at the dealerships.
- 53:46Months.
- 53:50And in the meantime, you're paying a mortgage on it still for a vehicle that you don't even have, and on top of that, you're paying for a rental car, hundreds of dollars a week.
- 54:01That's not acceptable.
- 54:04And they're gonna keep getting away with it unless the American people stand up to them and just stop buying them.
- 54:13You know, maybe that'll be the wake-up call for them to start making cars great again.
- 54:20We can do better than this.
- 54:24So many of these manufacturers, I've I've driven cars, I mean, my whole life.
- 54:29I've driven other people's cars.
- 54:31I worked on a farm.
- 54:32We had we had trucks that had hundreds of thousands of miles on them, uh no problem.
- 54:38If they could do that in the 90s, why can't they do it now?
- 54:46What's changed?
- 54:47What's the difference?
- 54:50Why are they so much more expensive now and they don't work?
- 54:55They literally fall apart at 10,000 miles.
- 55:00Like catastrophically fall apart.
- 55:05Something's got to give, and we the people have to stand up to it.
- 55:12We have to stand up, and if you don't like a vehicle, you are under zero obligation to purchase it.
- 55:18None, zero.
- 55:21We've got to get that out of our head that we have to buy it because if I don't buy this one, there's not gonna be another deal.
- 55:29Yes, there will be.
- 55:46But we need to make cars great again.
- 55:51I believe we can do it.
- 55:53I believe we will do it.
- 55:54I believe this will happen.
- 55:56Uh, it's gonna take time to turn the ship around.
- 55:58Uh, it's been years and years and years of car companies just um going to the wayside and really going downhill in their quality control.
- 56:09Uh, but I believe, I believe in America, I believe in American made vehicles.
- 56:13I believe in the major manufacturers.
- 56:16Uh, I think they just need a wake-up call, and maybe this is their wake-up call.
- 56:20Maybe this is the big wake-up call that they absolutely needed to make cars great again.
- 56:28All right, stay safe out there, folks.
- 56:30Have a great weekend.
- 56:31Enjoy time with your family, be blessed, and have a wonderful, wonderful, blessed weekend.

- 56:48There's a hidden lightness that shines inside of all of us.
- 56:51When there's so much darkness that envelops the world, remember that it doesn't take much light to expose that darkness and to ultimately inspire other people.
- 56:58Join me in being a light.
