- 0:06Speaker 1: Yeah, oh.
- 0:24Speaker 2: These, Well, I'm back home now. So what's going on? Everybody?
- 0:29Speaker 2: I'm the one, the only, the w O O K.
- 0:31Speaker 2: I E joined here by my normal compatreons. We have
- 0:38Speaker 2: the guy who's better than you, Cole, Robbie. Hell, hold,
- 0:46Speaker 2: we got everyone's favorite kid who gets kicked out of things. Dexter.
- 0:52Speaker 3: Hello, everybody, and.
- 0:54Speaker 2: Felix I'm on about. He's out in the boot, as
- 0:59Speaker 2: the Canadians say. Got some stuff and things to go
- 1:03Speaker 2: over to. The Hold on my daughter, What do you want? Daughter? Oh?
- 1:06Speaker 2: You want to hug around.
- 1:09Speaker 4: House? You've got a feature?
- 1:12Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, she she wants a hug, So I'm going
- 1:15Speaker 2: to give her a hug. Is that cool with everybody?
- 1:17Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 1:18Speaker 2: All right, yeah? Cool? Cool beans, I'm hugging my daughter
- 1:21Speaker 2: because she needed a hug. Might be something with I
- 1:24Speaker 2: think we gave her twenty bucks, but you know, long
- 1:28Speaker 2: gone are.
- 1:29Speaker 5: The days of no hugs, only handshakes with fathers.
- 1:34Speaker 2: Yeah no, now it's thanks for twenty dollars. But stuff
- 1:39Speaker 2: and things have happened. Me and Dexter are back from
- 1:43Speaker 2: forging all of our keys. Some forged more than others.
- 1:50Speaker 3: I did not forge that many keys, and.
- 1:52Speaker 2: Some of us did well, and some of us didn't.
- 1:55Speaker 2: But that's not what we're here to talk about today.
- 1:57Speaker 2: We're here to talk about altered, right, and all the
- 2:01Speaker 2: stuff and things that altered can bring, the joy altered
- 2:06Speaker 2: can bring into your life.
- 2:09Speaker 3: All the altered stuff and things.
- 2:10Speaker 2: All the altered stuff and things. And I just want
- 2:12Speaker 2: to give a PSA to everyone out there. If you
- 2:17Speaker 2: are teaching a friend to play altered, do not give
- 2:21Speaker 2: them the shit deck. That's all I got just to say, capeche.
- 2:27Speaker 5: Well, you should always learn to always pick muna.
- 2:32Speaker 4: Yeah you was going to say that.
- 2:33Speaker 2: Listen here, Cole, Robbie, I have a bone to pick
- 2:39Speaker 2: with you, sir, No bones, no, stop it. But we
- 2:46Speaker 2: did have the May twenty first, Ama, it happened on
- 2:49Speaker 2: May twenty first weird story, which was a Wednesday, by
- 2:52Speaker 2: the way, for those of you who understand who the
- 2:56Speaker 2: comedian Dane Cook is.
- 3:00Speaker 4: Actually, Yes, what did you say? I have crossed amore?
- 3:07Speaker 2: You keep talking at the same time, Cole, you talk first?
- 3:10Speaker 2: What I said.
- 3:12Speaker 5: I don't think he exists anymore?
- 3:14Speaker 2: He does exists. Why are you so quiet? Are you
- 3:16Speaker 2: like across the room?
- 3:18Speaker 5: No, I'm talking right into my mic.
- 3:20Speaker 2: Are you really okay? I got to crank you up
- 3:22Speaker 2: for some reason. You are like quieter than quiet. I've
- 3:26Speaker 2: now cranked you up.
- 3:28Speaker 5: Okay, I won't touch anything.
- 3:29Speaker 2: Good for me, Cole, I've cranked you up. We're good.
- 3:35Speaker 2: We're good, all right.
- 3:36Speaker 5: And I think Felix referenced that he had passed the
- 3:39Speaker 5: train tracks and something about the tree or something.
- 3:42Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, across the train tracks. Then I have gone through.
- 3:45Speaker 2: Part over the river and through the woods to grandmother's house.
- 3:48Speaker 2: We go into the World Championship qualifiers. While that didn't
- 3:52Speaker 2: work out at all, so may may first, Ama, we
- 3:57Speaker 2: do talk a little bit about World Championship qualifiers. This
- 4:01Speaker 2: is kind of cool for altered players. If you have
- 4:05Speaker 2: the need to qualify for the World Championships.
- 4:11Speaker 5: Are you guys going to have the need to qualify?
- 4:15Speaker 2: I don't. I might have the need, but I don't
- 4:18Speaker 2: know if I have the skill. So my skill and
- 4:24Speaker 2: altered is lacking. So I think what needs to happen
- 4:27Speaker 2: here is I need to run the gauntlet with Cole
- 4:30Speaker 2: Robbie and just play thousands of games between now and
- 4:36Speaker 2: like middle of June.
- 4:38Speaker 5: Okay, I think you'll have until the beginning of August.
- 4:44Speaker 5: Actually is is Baltimore closer to you. It's got to
- 4:48Speaker 5: be right.
- 4:49Speaker 2: But you know what's funny is Baltimore is closer to
- 4:51Speaker 2: me and Baltimore the place that the it's not t malt.
- 4:55Speaker 2: What are they calling these the w c Q for sure. Yeah,
- 5:01Speaker 2: well yeah, they don't have like some fun name like
- 5:05Speaker 2: uber Timault or something like that. They didn't come up
- 5:07Speaker 2: with a name. They have a tim Malt, which is
- 5:10Speaker 2: like start championships as sorry as they didn't come up
- 5:12Speaker 2: with a name for it.
- 5:15Speaker 5: I don't think so yet, because this is just getting
- 5:19Speaker 5: Worlds out of the way for this year.
- 5:22Speaker 2: This is good. I feel like this is getting the
- 5:24Speaker 2: monkey off their back.
- 5:26Speaker 5: No, maybe maybe a little bit. A lot of people
- 5:30Speaker 5: that know competitive DCGs know that it's actually really early.
- 5:39Speaker 5: A World's already. I think they wanted to do what
- 5:45Speaker 5: they called like the Confluence or something. It was mentioned
- 5:48Speaker 5: a time or Tina.
- 5:49Speaker 2: Yeah that's what it was called, the confluence.
- 5:51Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, so I think they're still working on that,
- 5:56Speaker 5: but since they had kind of already mentioned having.
- 6:00Speaker 2: A World's, now they're roped into it.
- 6:04Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 6:04Speaker 5: So, I mean it's still a very cool setup, very awesome.
- 6:08Speaker 5: It's already happening but I think and hope the confluence
- 6:13Speaker 5: type event will still happen, maybe next year.
- 6:16Speaker 2: But what's weird is what's what's funny. Okay, So the
- 6:18Speaker 2: same store that we'll be holding the world to the
- 6:20Speaker 2: w CQS is the same store that we'll be holding
- 6:24Speaker 2: the Vault tour for KEYFDE, just in different months.
- 6:29Speaker 3: What month?
- 6:32Speaker 2: When is Baltimore? Dex is that it's the month right before,
- 6:38Speaker 2: So Baltimore. Yeah, it's not this, It's not me. It's
- 6:41Speaker 2: not June. I think it's July. I want to say
- 6:45Speaker 2: July something or other. I can I can double check that,
- 6:48Speaker 2: but it's literally the same store in games and stuff.
- 6:50Speaker 2: Is a very cool store from what I've heard. I've
- 6:53Speaker 2: never been, but from all the people that have been there,
- 6:57Speaker 2: very very cool store, very very friendly staff. Off. I
- 7:00Speaker 2: think there's an awesome taco place around the corner, if
- 7:04Speaker 2: I remember correctly, I I don't. I don't know. I
- 7:07Speaker 2: think it was a time it was either tacos or seafood.
- 7:12Speaker 2: I don't. I can't remember which one.
- 7:13Speaker 5: But well you'll have to, uh look look it up
- 7:17Speaker 5: if you're going there. Yeah, but that that part's just
- 7:21Speaker 5: kind of a little recap because we I believe we
- 7:25Speaker 5: talked about it on a previous.
- 7:26Speaker 2: We didn't talk about it, me and the boys from
- 7:29Speaker 2: a Hero's Guide too. Has Gartha talked about it because
- 7:32Speaker 2: y'all were like at packs or something because Royal the
- 7:36Speaker 2: but y'all bunch of losers? Yeah, or something like that.
- 7:40Speaker 2: I don't know. It might have been a story I
- 7:42Speaker 2: just made up.
- 7:44Speaker 5: I mean it's possible.
- 7:45Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, New Adventure Pass. Oh what am I saying about?
- 7:53Speaker 4: What?
- 7:54Speaker 5: You're skipping already to a New Adventure Pass?
- 7:57Speaker 2: Well that's so, what's next on the list?
- 7:58Speaker 6: Oh?
- 7:58Speaker 2: I did skip? I did. I'm sorry, my apologies. I
- 8:01Speaker 2: did sketch. I had it. I had it just a thing,
- 8:04Speaker 2: and I'm like, all right, we're done with this, and
- 8:05Speaker 2: I kept scrolling. Right now we have the whispers from
- 8:09Speaker 2: the main demo deck tournament. Now this is the one
- 8:12Speaker 2: with people from Equinox correct correct ish yeah, correct ish, Okay,
- 8:20Speaker 2: tell me all about it. I'm interested.
- 8:23Speaker 5: Yeah. So, uh, the only other thing real quick on
- 8:27Speaker 5: the World Championship Qualifiers. This will this will be good
- 8:32Speaker 5: to know there will be a board game arena opportunity.
- 8:39Speaker 5: We don't know when yet what the Demo deck tournament
- 8:44Speaker 5: is actually our first test in doing that. And if
- 8:50Speaker 5: you don't know, I am also on the admin team
- 8:54Speaker 5: for A Wall and A Wall is going to be
- 8:58Speaker 5: the one hosting the demo deck tournament with help from Equinox,
- 9:04Speaker 5: mainly Cedric, but of course some of the other team
- 9:08Speaker 5: is involved in, you know, writing up the article that
- 9:12Speaker 5: announced it, providing some key art and things like that
- 9:17Speaker 5: for the stream graphics, which I've been working on all week,
- 9:22Speaker 5: basically every night. I don't I don't think my friend
- 9:27Speaker 5: listens to the podcast, but I've been so busy and
- 9:30Speaker 5: so deep in it, I didn't even know what day
- 9:33Speaker 5: it was. I looked at the calendar today and realized
- 9:35Speaker 5: I did not tell him happy birthday. So sorry for that.
- 9:40Speaker 2: But let's do it now. Ye who were wishing happy
- 9:44Speaker 2: birthday to Cedric?
- 9:47Speaker 5: Jake?
- 9:48Speaker 2: Jake? Happy birthday Jake?
- 9:52Speaker 3: All right, Happy birthday Jake.
- 9:53Speaker 2: Well it's Tuesday by the time he gets us as Tuesday,
- 9:57Speaker 2: but we were to say, just know, we recorded record
- 10:00Speaker 2: on Friday, so just now you were thought of. It's
- 10:05Speaker 2: the thought that counts exactly.
- 10:08Speaker 5: So one of the first things we learned is that
- 10:12Speaker 5: there is actually a maximum participant participant cap on all
- 10:18Speaker 5: BGA tournaments of five hundred and twelve. So even if
- 10:24Speaker 5: we had wanted to have the tournament be more than that,
- 10:28Speaker 5: we couldn't have. But also, uh, four out of like
- 10:34Speaker 5: five of us did not think that a five hundred
- 10:38Speaker 5: and twelve person demo deck tournament would fill up when we.
- 10:44Speaker 3: Were ten minutes.
- 10:46Speaker 5: Yeah, less than that, but.
- 10:48Speaker 4: Like a minager.
- 10:50Speaker 3: So yeah, when the sign ups went live, so I
- 10:53Speaker 3: completely missed it.
- 10:55Speaker 2: Well, hold on, Like, these are new starter decks. This
- 10:58Speaker 2: is like, I don't know, kind of like a big deal.
- 11:01Speaker 5: No, is it?
- 11:02Speaker 4: Just? Is it?
- 11:03Speaker 2: Just the look is a big deal.
- 11:04Speaker 3: There's a there's a good amount of prizing for it too.
- 11:07Speaker 2: Well that too, But like, we haven't seen new starter
- 11:10Speaker 2: decks since Beyond the Gates, right, we went into Trials
- 11:15Speaker 2: by Frost, no new starter decks, and now we're getting
- 11:19Speaker 2: new starter decks.
- 11:19Speaker 3: So these are technically not starter decks. They're demo decks
- 11:23Speaker 3: for the next set. True, so they will be pre cons.
- 11:26Speaker 3: They're only on BGA.
- 11:28Speaker 2: Oh so these aren't available for purchase. No, that's kind
- 11:32Speaker 2: of a bummer. Let me buy one. Let me buy one.
- 11:37Speaker 3: One by just getting all the cards. The deck lists
- 11:39Speaker 3: are available readily online and.
- 11:43Speaker 2: Dexter, Dexter, Dexter, dexter, I am giving an Equinox an
- 11:50Speaker 2: opportunity to make a buck off me. Let them make
- 11:54Speaker 2: a dollar off me. I'm dumb, I don't know, and
- 11:58Speaker 2: I just want to give them money. Okay, let me
- 12:02Speaker 2: do it, all right, Thanks Dexter.
- 12:05Speaker 5: So appreciate you, I will say Keelon Guy was the
- 12:10Speaker 5: only one that expected this would happen when we were
- 12:15Speaker 5: first planning it. I my bet was literally three hundred
- 12:19Speaker 5: and eighteen people. I think the biggest BEGA tournament we
- 12:24Speaker 5: have seen before now was a hundred and eighty. Maybe
- 12:31Speaker 5: I could actually pull up thirty nine cards and double check.
- 12:36Speaker 5: But there's also this feeling that people have of BGA
- 12:40Speaker 5: being really highly competitive tournaments being you know, super competitive
- 12:47Speaker 5: and not wanting to join. So I was like, this
- 12:50Speaker 5: is this is a pretty cool thing. This is a
- 12:52Speaker 5: pretty big deal. It's you know, in conjunction with Equinox.
- 12:57Speaker 5: I think I think it's three eighteen.
- 13:01Speaker 3: Okay, I would have said like four hundreds, but I
- 13:04Speaker 3: think the biggest pull probably is just because Equinox themselves
- 13:09Speaker 3: like officially advertised it on the altered website. So the
- 13:13Speaker 3: most people are going to see that.
- 13:15Speaker 4: That's what I was going to say.
- 13:16Speaker 7: I got the feeling that it was definitely going to
- 13:18Speaker 7: fill up very very fast, because if one five hundred
- 13:22Speaker 7: and twelve player account for a worldwide event that is
- 13:25Speaker 7: also co sponsored by the company itself is very big.
- 13:30Speaker 7: This is not a localized event like we usually.
- 13:33Speaker 2: Have you and you're giving away.
- 13:36Speaker 5: And I guess my thought process was all of the
- 13:39Speaker 5: tournaments are wide open to the whole world and promoted
- 13:43Speaker 5: on BGA. But I guess the the like you said,
- 13:47Speaker 5: the article put out by Equinox really did, yeah, blasted
- 13:53Speaker 5: wide open. After that article came out and we saw
- 13:56Speaker 5: how many people were joining the discord, I was.
- 13:58Speaker 3: Like, oh yeah, a lot of people hopped into the
- 14:02Speaker 3: A Wall discord. It is kind of crazy and.
- 14:04Speaker 7: You have all sorts of different languages being spoken in there.
- 14:08Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 14:09Speaker 5: So once that happened, I was like, Okay, this is
- 14:11Speaker 5: going to fill up. I still did not imagine it
- 14:14Speaker 5: would fill up in basically five minutes because we found
- 14:20Speaker 5: another little issue with BGA. It's not really an issue,
- 14:27Speaker 5: but if you don't select what players can play based
- 14:33Speaker 5: on like beginner blah blah blah whatever, which you can't
- 14:38Speaker 5: even select the bottom two because you have to have
- 14:41Speaker 5: one hundred e low. If you don't, it sets the
- 14:45Speaker 5: tournament link as private for some reason.
- 14:50Speaker 2: Yeah, I have a question. I have a quick question. Yeah,
- 14:55Speaker 2: this is just Wookie thinking out loud. Having dealt with
- 14:58Speaker 2: internet stuff most of my life. Has BGA ever held
- 15:03Speaker 2: a five hundred and twelve person event? I honestly do anything.
- 15:09Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 15:09Speaker 4: No, I don't think so, I'd be surprised.
- 15:13Speaker 2: That's a lot, Like, that's a lot of people's online
- 15:18Speaker 2: all at the same time, plus whatever everything else you
- 15:22Speaker 2: have going on, because bj just doesn't host altered they
- 15:25Speaker 2: host all.
- 15:25Speaker 3: Sorts of client hosts other stuff too.
- 15:27Speaker 2: So you're gonna you're gonna have five hundred and twelve
- 15:30Speaker 2: altered players plus whatever else is going on on BG
- 15:34Speaker 2: the spectators and so oh god, I didn't think about
- 15:37Speaker 2: the spectators. Oh my god.
- 15:40Speaker 4: Yep.
- 15:41Speaker 5: So that is why this is a huge first test.
- 15:45Speaker 5: And we actually went to like the BGA team, well
- 15:49Speaker 5: Cedric did, and I was like, hey, currently, if one
- 15:53Speaker 5: person joins a tournament, you can't change anything. Can you
- 15:57Speaker 5: let us increase the player count? And they were like,
- 16:01Speaker 5: actually five and twelve is the absolute maximum. So my
- 16:07Speaker 5: hope is they will see how big Altered is on BGA.
- 16:13Speaker 5: BGA is also owned by Asthma Day. I am sure
- 16:18Speaker 5: they have made a not unsubstantial increase in premium subscriptions
- 16:25Speaker 5: because of Altered. Because I have a premium because of Altered.
- 16:29Speaker 2: I have a I don't even use mine. I have
- 16:32Speaker 2: a premium because of Altered.
- 16:34Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, yeah, I hope this lights of fire for
- 16:42Speaker 5: them to put more effort, effort into the actual because
- 16:48Speaker 5: the the individual game developers on BGA are amazing, Like Vincent,
- 16:53Speaker 5: the lead developer for Altered, it's not even his main job,
- 16:57Speaker 5: but he's amazing.
- 16:58Speaker 2: Aren't all BGAP volunteers.
- 17:02Speaker 5: It's kind of an interesting system. There's like sometimes a
- 17:07Speaker 5: company can like hire you a little bit to develop
- 17:12Speaker 5: the game at first, and then from there you get
- 17:15Speaker 5: some kind of like revenue share based on how many
- 17:18Speaker 5: games that you develop on BGA or something. I know
- 17:23Speaker 5: that they don't get paid nothing, but I know that
- 17:26Speaker 5: it is not.
- 17:27Speaker 2: Near enough for how much they get paid, but slaps. Yeah.
- 17:34Speaker 5: It's it's kind of like you know all those like
- 17:38Speaker 5: gaming news blogs and things like that, like what's the
- 17:44Speaker 5: comic one that is super big? Anyways, it's I I
- 17:50Speaker 5: feel like it's kind of like that where they have
- 17:53Speaker 5: to write like twelve articles a day and then they
- 17:56Speaker 5: get paid based on how many clicks.
- 18:01Speaker 2: Yeah, so yeah, those are all though that hustle is
- 18:05Speaker 2: something else. But yeah, I know what one you're talking about,
- 18:08Speaker 2: and that's bananas. But how cool is that?
- 18:12Speaker 4: That?
- 18:12Speaker 2: Like in five minutes five hundred and twelve, probably well
- 18:17Speaker 2: more than five hundred and twelve because some people didn't
- 18:19Speaker 2: get in, people rushed out to like support I guess
- 18:26Speaker 2: supports the easiest way to say it. Support this game.
- 18:30Speaker 2: I really wish. I don't see it in the article,
- 18:33Speaker 2: and maybe that's hidden somewhere, And I'm sure is this
- 18:36Speaker 2: is information someone has maybe not readily available, but somewhere.
- 18:42Speaker 2: What the like world demographic was like? Was it mainly
- 18:46Speaker 2: European countries that were doing a lot of the sign ups?
- 18:50Speaker 2: Was it you know, was there a good American show out?
- 18:54Speaker 2: Was that you know North America? Where where is everybody
- 18:58Speaker 2: hailing from? I guess is my big question to see
- 19:01Speaker 2: kind of like to get the hot take on where
- 19:05Speaker 2: everybody's coming out of.
- 19:07Speaker 5: Yeah, that is a good question. I might be able
- 19:10Speaker 5: to annoy Tom to see if that's statistic he can
- 19:15Speaker 5: pull somewhere.
- 19:17Speaker 2: If somebody can pull that statistic, because just whether they
- 19:20Speaker 2: want to put the time and effort into doing it.
- 19:22Speaker 5: Yeah, Tom, Tom already is the one who created thirty
- 19:26Speaker 5: nine cards dot com, so he already scrapes BGA data
- 19:31Speaker 5: basically just currently. I don't think it notes the player's country.
- 19:41Speaker 2: That's just select your region of nationality when you sign
- 19:44Speaker 2: up for BGA. I think I did, I don't remember.
- 19:47Speaker 3: Yeah, everyone in BGA has their nationality listening.
- 19:51Speaker 2: Yeah, so I mean that seems like a thing that
- 19:52Speaker 2: should be am I easily.
- 19:57Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 19:57Speaker 3: Yeah, it just hasn't been done yet.
- 20:00Speaker 5: Yep, that's what I'm saying Tom, because yeah, we'll see
- 20:08Speaker 5: his own time. But yeah, I'm sure I'll work with
- 20:11Speaker 5: him on something for the event because I also help
- 20:16Speaker 5: out with admin stuff on thirty nine Cards. I don't
- 20:19Speaker 5: know why I do this to myself.
- 20:20Speaker 2: Man, they caught you a check yet?
- 20:22Speaker 4: Bro?
- 20:23Speaker 2: Who's they anybody?
- 20:27Speaker 4: No?
- 20:27Speaker 2: Why not?
- 20:28Speaker 4: So? Yeah?
- 20:30Speaker 5: Oh, speaking of which, I just got charged for the website.
- 20:33Speaker 5: So if you want to help support the website, please
- 20:37Speaker 5: check us out.
- 20:38Speaker 2: On Patreon, oreon dot com give us a buck or
- 20:40Speaker 2: two so that call could keep the website up and running.
- 20:44Speaker 5: Yeah, but yeah, the demo deck tournament is super cool.
- 20:48Speaker 5: I've been working on some stream graphics you'll get to
- 20:53Speaker 5: see on Sunday and some different things, and Blue Blue
- 21:00Speaker 5: Oak TV has been putting together are like Jason files
- 21:05Speaker 5: for the stream and everything. So we've we've been putting
- 21:09Speaker 5: work into it and uh, should be very good. But
- 21:14Speaker 5: it is a big test to see how BGA handles
- 21:18Speaker 5: that many players.
- 21:19Speaker 4: Yep. Uh.
- 21:20Speaker 5: Surprisingly it did not crash BGA entirely for the sign ups,
- 21:25Speaker 5: so that's a good sign.
- 21:27Speaker 7: It's important as well, especially considering the world full of fires.
- 21:32Speaker 5: Yep.
- 21:32Speaker 3: Yeah, that's why the world.
- 21:35Speaker 2: I was gonna say, I remember so key Ford. When
- 21:38Speaker 2: key Ford was supposed to have its first World Championships,
- 21:40Speaker 2: there was a major global pandemic sweeping across the world.
- 21:45Speaker 2: So we actually ran it on online. Boy did we
- 21:50Speaker 2: crash that thing? Uh?
- 21:54Speaker 5: Was this the crucible still?
- 21:56Speaker 2: Yeah? Yeah, this is still the so at the time
- 21:59Speaker 2: a crucible online and was open source. So somebody actually
- 22:01Speaker 2: like basically took it and liked made a few changes
- 22:05Speaker 2: to it and made it their own. But we we
- 22:09Speaker 2: They're like, yeah, we're going to have this big we
- 22:11Speaker 2: called it shadow Worlds, right, because it wasn't technically Worlds,
- 22:14Speaker 2: but we were running basically the same format. You know,
- 22:17Speaker 2: Worlds at that point was going to be in a
- 22:20Speaker 2: team event, right, So key Forge team events consisted of
- 22:24Speaker 2: one person played Arkan, one person played Sealed, and one
- 22:31Speaker 2: person played short Adaptive Nope, short Adaptive, regardless of what
- 22:39Speaker 2: any of those are, basically had three different formats being played.
- 22:43Speaker 2: You you had to take best two out of three games,
- 22:46Speaker 2: so that that was actually kind of fun. I know
- 22:48Speaker 2: Magic does something kind of similar to that. I don't
- 22:52Speaker 2: know if they're just running two Headed Giant or what
- 22:54Speaker 2: are they doing. I forget what they do, but team
- 22:57Speaker 2: events could definitely because Altered is very nationality driven, I
- 23:04Speaker 2: feel like, more than any other card game I think
- 23:05Speaker 2: I've ever played before, except for maybe Magic. That could
- 23:10Speaker 2: be a fun little thing, you know, us versus France,
- 23:13Speaker 2: France versus Belgium and Belgium. You know, that could be
- 23:16Speaker 2: a very kind of a cool thing to do on
- 23:18Speaker 2: like BGA, right, get some team has Altered formed teams yet,
- 23:23Speaker 2: I guess I'm not very like, yes, I'm in the scene,
- 23:26Speaker 2: but I am in the scene.
- 23:29Speaker 5: Yes, I am technically on a team. I'm like the
- 23:33Speaker 5: honorary clerical worker secretary of the team. Also, what you
- 23:40Speaker 5: explained is something that some of us are working on,
- 23:45Speaker 5: a altered team League championship event, and maybe you'll see
- 23:54Speaker 5: it eventually. I think I'm just gonna let Spaghetti Altered
- 23:58Speaker 5: do all of the work. But I've wanted to do
- 24:02Speaker 5: something like that for a long time.
- 24:03Speaker 2: So it is. I will tell you this. When it
- 24:07Speaker 2: comes down to like the nationalities thing, super cool, giant
- 24:12Speaker 2: pain in the ass when you're talking about like time
- 24:15Speaker 2: zones and stuff like that. That's that's the biggest thing,
- 24:18Speaker 2: is like you know, especially when it comes to European countries,
- 24:21Speaker 2: like well, when it's seven am here, it's like nine
- 24:24Speaker 2: pm over there, right, so like I got to get
- 24:27Speaker 2: up extremely early. They got to stay up a little
- 24:29Speaker 2: later maybe than they normal too, they become.
- 24:34Speaker 5: Yeah, we still have not finished the Rotisserie draft entirely
- 24:38Speaker 5: for that reason.
- 24:39Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 24:42Speaker 5: Now we are at the Adventure.
- 24:45Speaker 2: Now we're to the New Adventure pass.
- 24:48Speaker 7: So the New Adventures what to mention, So the demo
- 24:55Speaker 7: deck thing.
- 24:57Speaker 4: Other card games that I know of does.
- 24:59Speaker 7: Something similar to that, And speaking for University because that's
- 25:03Speaker 7: the one that I work with most of the time,
- 25:06Speaker 7: they sometimes do something called a throw down, which over
- 25:11Speaker 7: at some regional events they used to do before the pandemic,
- 25:15Speaker 7: they would have some of the staff members be in
- 25:18Speaker 7: the locale the actual location venue of the event, and
- 25:22Speaker 7: as a site event players could play against them and
- 25:26Speaker 7: their deck is full of never before seeing cards. So
- 25:31Speaker 7: the fact that they did this demo deck idea with
- 25:33Speaker 7: a bunch of Whispers of the Maze cards that we
- 25:35Speaker 7: hadn't seen before was actually pretty cool.
- 25:40Speaker 5: Yeah, there is I do have some extra insight on that. Actually,
- 25:44Speaker 5: this has been in the plans for so long, not
- 25:52Speaker 5: specifically just like the tournament part, but having these demo
- 25:56Speaker 5: decks on BGA and having them have new cards that
- 26:02Speaker 5: they were very specifically picked cards that went into the
- 26:08Speaker 5: decks to showcase. That's usually how a demo deck works,
- 26:12Speaker 5: not a fine tuned deck. It doesn't even have the
- 26:15Speaker 5: right number of rayerrors, but it's to show off the cards.
- 26:18Speaker 5: But these were all also cards that were then not
- 26:22Speaker 5: given to creators for reveals.
- 26:27Speaker 2: So nobody so this is part of the cool thing
- 26:29Speaker 2: to it. No matter where you are in altered right,
- 26:33Speaker 2: I mean, obviously good players are good players for a reason.
- 26:37Speaker 2: But gives everybody the opportunity on an equal playing field. Right,
- 26:42Speaker 2: then that's something I I still admire about this game
- 26:46Speaker 2: as something that they strive for is to kind of
- 26:48Speaker 2: try to give everybody the same experience on a somewhat
- 26:51Speaker 2: equal playing field.
- 26:53Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, for sure. And when we were when we
- 26:56Speaker 5: were doing things like the charity stream, which if you're
- 27:00Speaker 5: listening and I have to ship something out to you,
- 27:02Speaker 5: that is my number one priority after this weekend. And
- 27:07Speaker 5: I survived this weekend. I have it all in a
- 27:09Speaker 5: box ready to go, and everyone's addresses. But we made
- 27:15Speaker 5: sure like, oh, we can't show this card because this
- 27:18Speaker 5: is a Creator reveal. We can't show too much of
- 27:22Speaker 5: this card because it's in the demo deck or things
- 27:24Speaker 5: like that.
- 27:24Speaker 4: So it was.
- 27:25Speaker 5: It was really nicely coordinated. That is part of the
- 27:30Speaker 5: reason as well why there weren't as many Creator reveals
- 27:34Speaker 5: this time around.
- 27:35Speaker 2: Yeah we're not cool enough again.
- 27:39Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean you missed you. You weren't even there
- 27:41Speaker 5: for our reveals today. Where were you at?
- 27:44Speaker 2: I don't know, at work, Probably at where I normally
- 27:49Speaker 2: am at work. Yeah, that's where I live. It's my
- 27:53Speaker 2: other home, as I like to call it. I keep
- 27:55Speaker 2: telling my boss if you put a shower up, I
- 27:57Speaker 2: could just live here.
- 27:59Speaker 5: I think your family might miss you.
- 28:01Speaker 2: Yeah, they be right with me. They might for a
- 28:04Speaker 2: little while, you know, maybe like every couple of weeks
- 28:06Speaker 2: they'd be like, all right, can you go home? I'd
- 28:08Speaker 2: be like, all right, and then then they get stick
- 28:09Speaker 2: of me real quick. But but are we ready to
- 28:13Speaker 2: talk about this adventure? Pass?
- 28:15Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 28:15Speaker 5: What do you want to tell us about that?
- 28:17Speaker 2: Oh? This thing looks dope. So Season three Whispers are Amazed.
- 28:24Speaker 2: Promo or promo boosters take you through the labyrinth with
- 28:27Speaker 2: cyclo alternative art cards. The six characters from the Myth
- 28:31Speaker 2: of Thesis and the Minataury jump into the future. Find
- 28:35Speaker 2: them in the middle of fantastic Altered convention filled with
- 28:38Speaker 2: references to the game.
- 28:41Speaker 5: All right, before, before you go any further, I want
- 28:45Speaker 5: to know everyone's opinion of these alt arts that you
- 28:50Speaker 5: are seeing right now as you scroll down?
- 28:52Speaker 2: Can I can I use foul language? Not like I'm
- 28:54Speaker 2: not going to if you tell me? No, fucking dope?
- 28:59Speaker 2: Love them big hearts, hearts.
- 29:04Speaker 7: Think of the Lucky author and I thought it was
- 29:06Speaker 7: pretty cool.
- 29:07Speaker 2: Yeah, I enjoy all of these, every last one.
- 29:11Speaker 5: I I am you know, for for as much as
- 29:15Speaker 5: uh Wookie is you know, a crass uh maybe whatever
- 29:22Speaker 5: they call you in key Forge.
- 29:24Speaker 2: I'm the shock shock of key Forge, is what I'm told.
- 29:27Speaker 5: I feel like you're the enemy of ghost Galaxy. Uh
- 29:31Speaker 5: in key Forge.
- 29:32Speaker 2: I'm not their enemy. And like I've told people, right,
- 29:36Speaker 2: I give praise when praise is due, but when you
- 29:39Speaker 2: make a mistake, I will beat you to the end.
- 29:41Speaker 2: Degree that's all there.
- 29:44Speaker 5: There was a handful of people who really did not.
- 29:48Speaker 2: Like, Oh, why they're so cool?
- 29:52Speaker 5: I also love them. And the one at the bottom
- 29:56Speaker 5: is especially awesome because it's Pacife, who is the mother
- 30:01Speaker 5: of the minotaur in the myth, and she is in
- 30:06Speaker 5: this art selling minitar Plushi's it's so great.
- 30:09Speaker 2: I thought the coolest one because I don't know, maybe
- 30:12Speaker 2: it was just me who noticed it. So second one down,
- 30:16Speaker 2: I'm not quite sure who it's supposed to be. It's
- 30:20Speaker 2: playing a Lyra deck. I think that that.
- 30:23Speaker 4: Could be probably Obs Croupier is playing.
- 30:28Speaker 5: That could be it's Theseus and I think in the
- 30:34Speaker 5: like upgraded version he's playing Lyra, but in the bass.
- 30:39Speaker 2: Version he's playing Bravo. Yeah, I kind of I see
- 30:42Speaker 2: the subtle difference now, but like he's playing Bobba Yaga
- 30:47Speaker 2: the upgraded one like his opponent's Bobba Yaga.
- 30:51Speaker 5: No oh, that's the I think it's the croupier is
- 30:55Speaker 5: playing the croupier against.
- 31:00Speaker 2: Yeah, but all of these are just so cool, Like
- 31:03Speaker 2: the selfie with a selfie stick with the minotaurs, like
- 31:06Speaker 2: that is so cool. Who hates these? If you hate these,
- 31:10Speaker 2: you hate fun?
- 31:12Speaker 5: Yeah, basically.
- 31:15Speaker 2: I like them all. I think they're so cool. I actually,
- 31:19Speaker 2: to be honest with you, if you could foil just these,
- 31:22Speaker 2: like I don't even want the actual like the cards
- 31:24Speaker 2: I'm sure are very cool, but like even these just
- 31:27Speaker 2: to have, like if you could just put like the
- 31:28Speaker 2: name card on them and make them textless, textless full arts.
- 31:35Speaker 7: Well, the very first row, the regular version, the booster
- 31:39Speaker 7: pack that's flying around is beyond the gates. But if
- 31:42Speaker 7: you look at the upgraded one is a Kickstarter one.
- 31:46Speaker 2: Oh yeah totally is.
- 31:49Speaker 4: Oh yeah too.
- 31:51Speaker 5: Yeah yeah I love them And if you want to
- 31:56Speaker 5: uh roll quickly down, you'll also see the landmark.
- 32:01Speaker 2: Yeah, the landmarks. I am in love with this art style,
- 32:05Speaker 2: Like I don't know who they got to do this,
- 32:07Speaker 2: but that super cool again, every every last one of
- 32:11Speaker 2: them is super cool. I know a lot of them
- 32:14Speaker 2: are just like small art changes like color palettep palette
- 32:18Speaker 2: swaps and and and whatnot, but still very cool.
- 32:22Speaker 4: Yep.
- 32:23Speaker 5: Good thing with altered is every card has the artist's
- 32:27Speaker 5: name on it, So these landmarks are by Victor Ken.
- 32:31Speaker 2: Or all of them by him. Oh yeah, look at that,
- 32:33Speaker 2: every last one. Super cool. I mean, I know there's
- 32:37Speaker 2: not much change in most of them. I think the
- 32:40Speaker 2: only one that really changes is what is the fourth
- 32:43Speaker 2: one down where you just have a field and then
- 32:45Speaker 2: you have like glowing cabbages. I don't know, you got
- 32:49Speaker 2: to you got an additional farmer. The other ones, I
- 32:52Speaker 2: don't know. Maybe I gotta look into let's see, you've
- 32:55Speaker 2: got all right guitar pumpkin sweet. I think all of
- 33:01Speaker 2: the ones are just color swaps, no, just palette swaps
- 33:05Speaker 2: to their to their appropriated faction.
- 33:10Speaker 5: It's a it's a little bit. I think there are
- 33:13Speaker 5: differences in each one, but most of them go from
- 33:18Speaker 5: like day to night.
- 33:20Speaker 2: Yeah, but I.
- 33:22Speaker 5: Definitely think that the Muna one does have a little
- 33:27Speaker 5: more variance. The Lyra one kind of does too, because
- 33:30Speaker 5: the spires change.
- 33:33Speaker 2: Oh yeah, yeah, ones more fireworks and then yeah, okay,
- 33:37Speaker 2: I see that.
- 33:39Speaker 5: Yeah, so there are a little little key uh details there,
- 33:44Speaker 5: which is awesome.
- 33:45Speaker 2: Yeah, these all these are super clear. Like this makes
- 33:48Speaker 2: me want to like go find a place to go
- 33:50Speaker 2: like and get these because I like, yeah, yeah, I'm
- 33:56Speaker 2: I'm a big big fan. I like it. All Right,
- 34:04Speaker 2: what have we got next? All in the let's see
- 34:06Speaker 2: the altered blog, let's see yeah, Whispers from the Maze design.
- 34:12Speaker 2: You want to take us to this one again, Cole.
- 34:15Speaker 5: Yeah, so I'll kind of just give an overview of it.
- 34:20Speaker 5: But basically, uh, the point of trial by Frost was
- 34:25Speaker 5: not to completely rewrite the game and was more for
- 34:29Speaker 5: just adding, you know, just a little more ideas that
- 34:33Speaker 5: they were playing with and give some support for heroes
- 34:39Speaker 5: that were underplayed. But for Whispers from the Maze, and
- 34:44Speaker 5: I absolutely think you can already tell this.
- 34:49Speaker 4: One.
- 34:49Speaker 5: It's a larger set and it also has more of
- 34:56Speaker 5: a developed complete system when you add it in to
- 35:00Speaker 5: the other two. And they talk about how they wanted
- 35:04Speaker 5: to add more removal options to uh lessen some of
- 35:10Speaker 5: the more powerful uniques, and then they talk about the
- 35:15Speaker 5: hunger and things like that. But it's really a lot
- 35:20Speaker 5: about how they're adding a lot more and kind of
- 35:25Speaker 5: opening up as a design team because they feel that
- 35:29Speaker 5: the first two sets kind of got people you know,
- 35:32Speaker 5: in and learning the game, and now they can kind
- 35:38Speaker 5: of get a little more experimental with the design space.
- 35:43Speaker 5: They talk about specific cards and things like that, which
- 35:48Speaker 5: you can read on the blog if you want, and
- 35:54Speaker 5: then they they do mention that a ongoing design struggle
- 35:59Speaker 5: for the team has been working around heroes like our
- 36:03Speaker 5: June and Lindaway, and while they can create specific cards
- 36:09Speaker 5: to support their play styles, other heroes within their faction
- 36:13Speaker 5: can simply use the same cards more effectively, and that
- 36:17Speaker 5: is why neither hero are in Whispers from the Maze
- 36:22Speaker 5: limited play, and that's why Lindaway has not been included
- 36:26Speaker 5: in a set since Beyond the Gates. But that is
- 36:31Speaker 5: something that they're obviously looking to work on. And they
- 36:37Speaker 5: mentioned a note here that they were experimenting in Whispers
- 36:42Speaker 5: from the Maze a way that allowed ROC players to
- 36:45Speaker 5: manipulate top cards of the deck and it turned out
- 36:49Speaker 5: to be way too powerful and was providing eight and
- 36:53Speaker 5: nine man of cards for free regularly.
- 36:56Speaker 4: So it's a slippery slow for that one.
- 37:00Speaker 2: Yeah, that's a bad thing.
- 37:04Speaker 5: Too much. Maybe I will say I am I think
- 37:08Speaker 5: Arak is the deck I am most excited to build
- 37:11Speaker 5: in Whispers from the Maze while they had that, that
- 37:15Speaker 5: was obviously to Opie. There's a lot of really cool
- 37:19Speaker 5: things for her in Whispers from the Mace. And then
- 37:25Speaker 5: at the end of the design here they just talk
- 37:27Speaker 5: about how tournament rules are still in development. Tournament rules
- 37:33Speaker 5: technically do exist, but they were kind of like a
- 37:36Speaker 5: quick release thing for packs Unplugged and other events, and
- 37:41Speaker 5: then we should get the comprehensive rules or Whispers from
- 37:47Speaker 5: the Maze before the pre release. Last I heard is
- 37:51Speaker 5: they're done. They're just going through like final editing and
- 37:54Speaker 5: grammar and wording and all of that checks.
- 38:00Speaker 2: Got it nice? So what do you guys most What
- 38:05Speaker 2: are you most excited to see? And Whispers from the Mace?
- 38:08Speaker 2: Like you call you said, uh, You're you're like really
- 38:12Speaker 2: like Rox, like your jam. I don't know how I
- 38:15Speaker 2: feel about.
- 38:18Speaker 3: I'm really enjoying the rac demo deck. I loved her
- 38:22Speaker 3: on the cards. This new landmark that makes your seven
- 38:24Speaker 3: cost characters cost less super cool. I really like the adding.
- 38:29Speaker 3: Oh yeah, Outsadi, wrong name, ALX sucks.
- 38:33Speaker 4: I like Sadi.
- 38:34Speaker 3: I'm enjoying this demo deck. I really like the the
- 38:37Speaker 3: boost mechanic for boosting characters in Reserve and the whole
- 38:41Speaker 3: SAP thing.
- 38:45Speaker 5: Hm.
- 38:47Speaker 3: I haven't played much with augmenting just because I don't
- 38:49Speaker 3: really like axiom, but augmenting looks like there could be
- 38:52Speaker 3: some cool abilities there.
- 38:55Speaker 4: Mm hmm.
- 38:56Speaker 5: What about Felix.
- 38:58Speaker 4: I'm both him and playing lyre so far, but.
- 39:02Speaker 7: The way that they've built it, focusing a lot on
- 39:07Speaker 7: the Novenka rolling dice all the time is very fun.
- 39:13Speaker 4: Now the randomness that comes.
- 39:15Speaker 7: With it is something else. I think I've played that
- 39:19Speaker 7: demo deck like four times and I've rolled probably one
- 39:25Speaker 7: like three times in every single game.
- 39:27Speaker 4: So that's kind of rough.
- 39:29Speaker 5: Yeah, mar is rough.
- 39:32Speaker 4: Yeah, it's really really rough.
- 39:34Speaker 7: Other than that, though, just seeing how what people can
- 39:36Speaker 7: play the boost from the Reserve is really.
- 39:38Speaker 4: Throwing my math off.
- 39:40Speaker 7: So that's pretty cool because it has to be playing
- 39:43Speaker 7: in a different way because I haven't seen at least
- 39:47Speaker 7: the games that have been playing supportabilities that require you
- 39:50Speaker 7: to discard cards yet.
- 39:52Speaker 4: It's all been.
- 39:54Speaker 7: In the constant support ability at least in the demo decks,
- 39:59Speaker 7: which is different.
- 40:01Speaker 4: They're really different.
- 40:03Speaker 5: Yeah, I have most of them. There are some really
- 40:07Speaker 5: cool ones, but in Lira specifically, most of them are
- 40:10Speaker 5: just getting boosts in reserve. I don't remember if there
- 40:16Speaker 5: are any that do something else. There are, there is
- 40:21Speaker 5: some manipulation there with like if you have a boosted
- 40:26Speaker 5: character out in, it discounts artists things like that. So
- 40:32Speaker 5: there's more like.
- 40:33Speaker 7: The trible that that tribal design space that they're going
- 40:40Speaker 7: with is interesting as well.
- 40:43Speaker 4: It's curious.
- 40:44Speaker 7: I just hope it doesn't make that deck building type
- 40:47Speaker 7: very monotonous.
- 40:49Speaker 4: But we're gonna see how that goes. Because there's a
- 40:51Speaker 4: lot of artists right.
- 40:52Speaker 2: Now in songs.
- 40:54Speaker 4: Yep, hmm.
- 40:57Speaker 3: You think that the band will have a place in
- 41:00Speaker 3: in Lyra, all those the guitarists and the bassist.
- 41:04Speaker 7: Absolutely, probably very likely. What I'm really excited for is
- 41:07Speaker 7: a tech lab. But it's not even a lyric card.
- 41:10Speaker 7: But that's a that's another discussion.
- 41:12Speaker 5: Yeah, that's gonna be there's gonna be everywhere good in
- 41:17Speaker 5: Fenn because Fenn doesn't even need landmarks right now. Yeah,
- 41:23Speaker 5: that's a very good one for how Fenn plays right now.
- 41:27Speaker 4: Yeah, but it's not even a lyric card.
- 41:30Speaker 7: So and even then the Wayfarer is a really really
- 41:33Speaker 7: fun card. Yeah, it makes me want to try and
- 41:36Speaker 7: build a deck that just focuses on rolling dice all
- 41:38Speaker 7: the time.
- 41:39Speaker 3: It's just Yeah, I think the way to make it
- 41:41Speaker 3: work is if you also have the bastion that lets
- 41:43Speaker 3: you roll two dice, because hoping that you flip the
- 41:46Speaker 3: same number is a pretty low chance there.
- 41:49Speaker 7: Yeah, I need to check on the rulings on how
- 41:51Speaker 7: that would work if rolling to the two dice and
- 41:55Speaker 7: you picking the dice comes first before the reveal.
- 41:57Speaker 4: Or the reveal happens when you roll them. Curious about
- 42:00Speaker 4: that one?
- 42:03Speaker 5: Have I have not tested that because that is not
- 42:08Speaker 5: in the demo decks stable.
- 42:10Speaker 7: Yeah, and I'm not sure BGA because the BGA does
- 42:13Speaker 7: have still some very small amounts of bugs, So curious
- 42:17Speaker 7: I was going to perform that particular trigger because they're
- 42:20Speaker 7: not in limbo any of them. All those abilities are
- 42:23Speaker 7: constant abilities, so I'm curious how that's going to work out.
- 42:28Speaker 5: One of the other things I've been doing to prepare
- 42:31Speaker 5: for the tournament on Sunday is anytime someone mentions there
- 42:35Speaker 5: might be a bug with the demo decks, I immediately
- 42:39Speaker 5: go and try to find it and recreate it so
- 42:41Speaker 5: I can submit a bug report, because ninety percent of
- 42:46Speaker 5: the time someone will say something's a bug or complain
- 42:49Speaker 5: about a bug and not do anything. Yeah, and fifty
- 42:53Speaker 5: percent of the time it's not a bug they misunderstood,
- 42:57Speaker 5: and the other fifty percent means that they're still a
- 43:00Speaker 5: bug report. So I've been playing a lot of those
- 43:03Speaker 5: decks just so I can make sure there are no
- 43:05Speaker 5: actual bugs. One that I think is a bug unless
- 43:11Speaker 5: there's a rule clarification or change that comes in three
- 43:15Speaker 5: point zero is because of the nature of demo decks
- 43:19Speaker 5: and showing differences. There are both common and rare Wayfarer
- 43:25Speaker 5: in Navenka's deck, and if you have both in play,
- 43:30Speaker 5: they counteract each other. And rules is written and how
- 43:34Speaker 5: I read the cards, I don't believe that should be.
- 43:37Speaker 3: Yeah, you should be able to pick either, Yes, you could.
- 43:42Speaker 3: You should be able to pick which one to trigger,
- 43:44Speaker 3: but board game Arena automatically picks the common for you.
- 43:47Speaker 4: Yep.
- 43:48Speaker 7: So yeah, I can see why, And I can see
- 43:53Speaker 7: why maybe in the code it might be something triggering
- 43:56Speaker 7: to work with.
- 43:58Speaker 3: Was say you may tap it, and then the common
- 44:01Speaker 3: one says you have to draw it, So maybe they're
- 44:04Speaker 3: just like, well, one is the may trigger, one is
- 44:06Speaker 3: a half to trigger, so that it just automatically does
- 44:09Speaker 3: the half two trigger interaction based on the rule?
- 44:13Speaker 7: Yes, yeah, because one of them requires you to tap
- 44:16Speaker 7: it as part of an action you need to make.
- 44:19Speaker 7: So I'm wondering if the coding doesn't really consider that
- 44:21Speaker 7: into account right now.
- 44:24Speaker 5: I I did it thanks to a game against Dexter,
- 44:29Speaker 5: and I submitted a bug report, and I also double
- 44:33Speaker 5: checked in the judge discord to see if a game
- 44:36Speaker 5: designer chimes in and we'll go from there. But in
- 44:41Speaker 5: in the blog, I they're they're The next part is
- 44:45Speaker 5: like about Hero balance and patch notes and how there's
- 44:49Speaker 5: no new added watchless stuff, which, in my opinion, you
- 44:55Speaker 5: can read. The next interesting part to me is the
- 44:59Speaker 5: Tumultuo Ampionships and how those went.
- 45:03Speaker 2: I was gonna say, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa whoa, but
- 45:06Speaker 2: you actually didn't skip what I thought it was what
- 45:10Speaker 2: interests you in the small championships. I didn't really find
- 45:12Speaker 2: anything too like that jumped out at me, and just.
- 45:16Speaker 3: The cards that are revealed the kuru kamis.
- 45:20Speaker 2: Oh was that was that? Ms?
- 45:24Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 45:24Speaker 5: No, I was talking about the future Tumult.
- 45:27Speaker 2: Oh okay, oh got well, go well do tell Yeah.
- 45:32Speaker 5: So they do talk about how they are pleased about
- 45:35Speaker 5: how they came together, and you know they're taking feedback
- 45:38Speaker 5: and looking to change the next set, which will happen
- 45:42Speaker 5: July twenty sixth to September seventh.
- 45:46Speaker 4: Is that right?
- 45:47Speaker 5: That seems Oh I'm so dumb, disregard me. It's late.
- 45:53Speaker 5: They are talking about changing their rewards, and I think this.
- 45:58Speaker 1: Is yeah they.
- 46:01Speaker 2: What no, the the Tumult rewards, Tumult Championships, decks or
- 46:08Speaker 2: keep up.
- 46:11Speaker 4: Yeah, so the attention that is true.
- 46:14Speaker 7: The Venture Pass rewards are changing a little bit too, Yes,
- 46:20Speaker 7: that is also a change.
- 46:23Speaker 5: But for the Tumult, I think this is a direct
- 46:27Speaker 5: response to feedback, and I think there's a split right now. Well, basically,
- 46:36Speaker 5: in the Tumults that we just finished, for a trial
- 46:38Speaker 5: by Frost, if you were the top place in your faction,
- 46:43Speaker 5: you got a oversized thick card that says like Moon
- 46:48Speaker 5: a Scout or or to Scout or whatever, and it
- 46:52Speaker 5: had the alt art for that faction's character from the season.
- 46:58Speaker 5: I have one sitting behind me. It's super cool. It's
- 47:01Speaker 5: part of my like stream background. But a percentage of
- 47:08Speaker 5: the community did not like that they were not playable,
- 47:13Speaker 5: So the future rewards will be playable and possibly similar
- 47:20Speaker 5: to what is included with the World Championship.
- 47:26Speaker 4: Rising.
- 47:28Speaker 5: I think this is honestly kind of unfortunate to me.
- 47:35Speaker 5: I get how people want like their rewards to be playable,
- 47:41Speaker 5: but to me, it feels like what every other TCG
- 47:46Speaker 5: is doing out there, and it's just a card with
- 47:50Speaker 5: like a little stamp on it, like what Star Wars does.
- 47:54Speaker 5: I have a couple Judge cards. I think I have
- 47:57Speaker 5: like a Top eight card, and they're kind and the
- 48:00Speaker 5: lame to me, but that's what people prefer, so that
- 48:05Speaker 5: is probably what's going to happen for the next month.
- 48:11Speaker 3: I mean, people like they're going to get more use
- 48:15Speaker 3: than just a piece of cardboard. So I'm fine with
- 48:18Speaker 3: this change.
- 48:19Speaker 4: Well, it would be cool. I think, probably.
- 48:21Speaker 3: Less cool, but you can at least play it.
- 48:25Speaker 4: But I think would be cool. They're not sure that
- 48:27Speaker 4: they're gonna do or even listen to this.
- 48:29Speaker 7: Is have lenticular cards that they change from the rare
- 48:35Speaker 7: to the common version, but it's just pure decoration.
- 48:40Speaker 5: Like when you when you rotate it.
- 48:44Speaker 4: Mm hm hmm, yeah, exactly.
- 48:46Speaker 5: Yeah, I think that Altered usually does a lot better
- 48:52Speaker 5: on their promo cards and like promo arts than other
- 48:58Speaker 5: TCGs uh. In the end, it does feel like just
- 49:04Speaker 5: everything else, so, but a lot of people wanted them
- 49:10Speaker 5: to be actually playable. And then I think what Dexter
- 49:14Speaker 5: was mentioning on the Adventure Pass is going forward and
- 49:18Speaker 5: starting in Whispers from the Maze, you'll get a full
- 49:23Speaker 5: play set of whatever the card reward is, because before
- 49:29Speaker 5: you only got one based on other things blah blah blah,
- 49:33Speaker 5: and people were really upset with that because you most
- 49:36Speaker 5: commonly put three copies of a card.
- 49:38Speaker 4: In your deck.
- 49:41Speaker 2: Most of the time.
- 49:43Speaker 5: Most of the time, indeed.
- 49:45Speaker 2: Most of the time. Always the next thing, I don't know, actually,
- 49:51Speaker 2: I'm sorry. Well, anything in future design that anything jumped
- 49:54Speaker 2: out to anybody.
- 49:59Speaker 5: I mean, I mean there's talk of like hoping to
- 50:05Speaker 5: see dual types such as landmark or character. They talk
- 50:10Speaker 5: about how we have seen two factions in the lower
- 50:16Speaker 5: that are not in the game, being the Lost Tribe
- 50:21Speaker 5: that never made it to as Gartha and the Exiles
- 50:26Speaker 5: left Carrados and were never heard from again.
- 50:31Speaker 2: Or were they, Yes, they have not been but maybe maybe.
- 50:36Speaker 5: Yeah. They talk about how out of faction cards or
- 50:40Speaker 5: oof cards as we call them, are are kind of
- 50:43Speaker 5: hard to keep on theme and keep balanced. And then
- 50:50Speaker 5: they just mentioned how the low cost meta is not
- 50:56Speaker 5: something that needs to be changed because one of Alter's
- 51:01Speaker 5: main themes is the back and forth play style, and
- 51:05Speaker 5: if the game style shifts more heavily towards larger characters,
- 51:11Speaker 5: that reduces the number of potential actions, making turns less interesting.
- 51:17Speaker 2: There was something in here and I don't remember what
- 51:20Speaker 2: section it was, but it spoke about the villain for
- 51:25Speaker 2: the next set. Let's see is that in te Mault
- 51:32Speaker 2: Championships Control f Here it is. I found it the playmat.
- 51:37Speaker 2: We have also linked to the villain for this expansion,
- 51:42Speaker 2: which is interesting because traditionally, like past two expansions, have
- 51:47Speaker 2: we really had a villain.
- 51:49Speaker 5: No, but we definitely have one for this one.
- 51:51Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 51:53Speaker 5: I like, we have a whole lower section on a
- 51:56Speaker 5: previous episode and episode title dedicated to said villavillain.
- 52:01Speaker 2: Mm hmmm, here's the villain?
- 52:04Speaker 5: Uh yes, at face? Yeah.
- 52:09Speaker 3: I think there are other parasites as well.
- 52:12Speaker 2: Yeah, but why are there the villains? I think they're
- 52:15Speaker 2: just misunderstood.
- 52:17Speaker 3: They're parasites, they're infiltrating the normal people.
- 52:21Speaker 2: Well, I mean brothers gotta eat right, like you know, like.
- 52:27Speaker 5: Well they did kill Besier's family and that.
- 52:32Speaker 2: Was that on purpose?
- 52:34Speaker 4: Yes, yes, so very much.
- 52:37Speaker 2: So that was straight up mortar.
- 52:39Speaker 5: Huh. I mean it could be something else revealed.
- 52:46Speaker 2: There's two sides to every story. Call that's all I'm saying.
- 52:50Speaker 2: You know, you don't know their side and what.
- 52:51Speaker 3: All family did something to them first?
- 52:54Speaker 2: Maybe you don't know. I'm just saying two sides every story.
- 52:59Speaker 2: I just I found the villain. The villains they like
- 53:03Speaker 2: linked to the villain, and I kind of like, in
- 53:06Speaker 2: my heart of hearts, I knew that's where that was headed,
- 53:09Speaker 2: right Yeah, but like I was like, ooh, a villain, right,
- 53:13Speaker 2: we haven't really had a villain, like everything's been about
- 53:16Speaker 2: Like I was like, I didn't know why who was
- 53:18Speaker 2: in this expansion?
- 53:19Speaker 5: But anyway, yeah, there there are technically a lot of
- 53:25Speaker 5: villains in Altered You just would have to read more
- 53:28Speaker 5: into the Lord to know them. Like fun fact, the
- 53:33Speaker 5: Ma is not really a great companion. Uh So Lindaway
- 53:39Speaker 5: and Ma, it's not a relationship like the other heroes.
- 53:44Speaker 2: In their companion a little abusive.
- 53:48Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, maybe a lot, but well.
- 53:51Speaker 2: I mean I did it in a lot or too,
- 53:55Speaker 2: you know, I mean those are both two sides of
- 53:57Speaker 2: the same coin of how you view things. Yeah, who's
- 54:01Speaker 2: abusing who? Though?
- 54:03Speaker 4: Yeah, that's the question.
- 54:07Speaker 5: Read the Lord. The rest of the recap, it touches
- 54:11Speaker 5: on the judge program, which we've they've kind of talked
- 54:17Speaker 5: about a lot. It is in the works. There's a
- 54:19Speaker 5: judge discord.
- 54:21Speaker 2: I do like that finally, like there's something like I
- 54:25Speaker 2: feel like this is something that CC Jesus like kind
- 54:28Speaker 2: of take a long time to do, either take a
- 54:32Speaker 2: long time or like.
- 54:35Speaker 5: Lord ConA still doesn't have a judge program.
- 54:38Speaker 2: Yeah, like they don't do it at all. Well that's
- 54:40Speaker 2: not really that crazy, Like like there's no I don't
- 54:43Speaker 2: think there's a judge.
- 54:44Speaker 4: Program a lot of game three or four years.
- 54:46Speaker 2: But yeah, but there's is there a judge program for KeyForge,
- 54:52Speaker 2: Marcus and g they are not the judge program, Like,
- 54:56Speaker 2: there is no judge program for a lot of games.
- 54:59Speaker 2: I know Pokemon has one.
- 55:02Speaker 5: Yeah, Magic one has a really good one.
- 55:04Speaker 2: Yeahah, Magic has one, Like I know the big three
- 55:07Speaker 2: have them basically, but beyond that, like is there one
- 55:11Speaker 2: for like Unlimited I don't as far as I know.
- 55:15Speaker 5: No, it is, and I am. It's apprentice judge in
- 55:20Speaker 5: Star Wars and limited.
- 55:21Speaker 2: Is there a program though that like you can sign
- 55:23Speaker 2: up for? Yeah, oh there is, Okay.
- 55:26Speaker 5: Yeah it is. It is newer so.
- 55:28Speaker 2: Because that was something like FFG always talks about every
- 55:31Speaker 2: time they release the CCG, but then they end up
- 55:34Speaker 2: killing the CCG before they get there. Like I remember Destiny,
- 55:38Speaker 2: they were talking about it and then like they're like,
- 55:42Speaker 2: never mind, because we're just getting rid of Destiny.
- 55:45Speaker 5: Yeah. So the Dallas Planetary Qualifier I did last year.
- 55:58Speaker 5: That was like a month or two after the judge
- 56:02Speaker 5: program for Star Wars started, so at that time it
- 56:07Speaker 5: was basically only apprentice level was even possible. Now I
- 56:14Speaker 5: think they have like L one, maybe L two. I'm
- 56:18Speaker 5: not sure. I didn't keep up too much with it,
- 56:21Speaker 5: but it's been great.
- 56:23Speaker 2: Uh, Felix, you play Universes right, yep? Yeah, is there
- 56:28Speaker 2: a judge program for that game?
- 56:31Speaker 4: It's actually in the works too.
- 56:32Speaker 2: Yeah. And that game has been around for fucking ever.
- 56:37Speaker 4: Yeah, it's almost twenty years.
- 56:41Speaker 2: I mean, you got to go way too bad. I
- 56:43Speaker 2: don't remember what the I don't know what the original
- 56:45Speaker 2: one was the one I remember was Mortal Kombat versus they.
- 56:51Speaker 4: Had universal fighting system name.
- 56:54Speaker 2: Right, and and then I, like I said, I remember
- 56:57Speaker 2: the Man.
- 57:00Speaker 4: The Brave first said that released was Street Fighters sol
- 57:02Speaker 4: Caliber three.
- 57:03Speaker 2: That was, but I remember more. The first one I
- 57:05Speaker 2: remember is Mortal Kombat. And I remember who came out
- 57:08Speaker 2: with Mortal Kombat.
- 57:09Speaker 4: Yeah, Marcoma came out actually almost fifteen years later.
- 57:14Speaker 2: Oh for real? Yeah, welf, Okay, never mind, don't mind me,
- 57:19Speaker 2: I'm dumb.
- 57:21Speaker 7: But it doesn't have an actual judge program either. It
- 57:24Speaker 7: had a scout program, which is organizers and demos and
- 57:30Speaker 7: stuff like that, but there was no actual judge program.
- 57:33Speaker 2: Now yeah, I just feel like there needs to be
- 57:37Speaker 2: more of that in card gaming. Otherwise it just sleeves
- 57:42Speaker 2: ship up to interpretation.
- 57:45Speaker 7: So, like Cole mentioned, Pokemon does a really good job
- 57:48Speaker 7: with it their tournament regulations PDF. It's very impressive. It
- 57:55Speaker 7: goes over literally everything you can expect from a tournament
- 57:58Speaker 7: organizer and a judge, and it goes through penalties and
- 58:01Speaker 7: whatsp of penalties. You can assign examples of penalties and
- 58:05Speaker 7: rulings and the core mechanics of being a judge and
- 58:09Speaker 7: so on. So that's the stuff I would like to
- 58:12Speaker 7: see more often.
- 58:14Speaker 2: Yeah, I would agree with you so, But I thought
- 58:16Speaker 2: that was cool that they're actually is gonna, you know
- 58:19Speaker 2: again this early in the life cycle and they're thinking about,
- 58:22Speaker 2: you know, actually doing a judge program, which is pretty big.
- 58:25Speaker 2: I don't know if we've had any major rules questions
- 58:29Speaker 2: yet that like there was like, oh, like somebody had
- 58:33Speaker 2: to make up a ruling on the fly because there
- 58:35Speaker 2: was an interaction that wasn't foreseen.
- 58:39Speaker 7: There's some couple of timing rules that I think are
- 58:41Speaker 7: important to know. Like, for example, Taja, her ability isn't
- 58:46Speaker 7: doesn't go into limbo. It happens right before anything happens
- 58:50Speaker 7: m m, and that triggers a bunch of really weird
- 58:53Speaker 7: stuff afterwards.
- 58:54Speaker 4: It's like the.
- 58:55Speaker 7: Taja with the spindle harvesters and Yetti combo. It works
- 59:01Speaker 7: because the hearts of the harbors already comes in with
- 59:04Speaker 7: a boost and it just triggers a bunch of stuff
- 59:07Speaker 7: after that.
- 59:10Speaker 5: Yeah, I think I think we figure out a lot
- 59:14Speaker 5: of the stuff before it comes up at events. That's
- 59:20Speaker 5: where BGA is also really good, because if we see
- 59:24Speaker 5: something that doesn't seem right or just having access to
- 59:30Speaker 5: so many games played. It's either a bug report or
- 59:35Speaker 5: a question like, hey, is this how it should work?
- 59:39Speaker 5: But yeah, they say that the plan is to have
- 59:42Speaker 5: like a one point zero version for the early qualifier events,
- 59:48Speaker 5: and then like a one point one version by August September.
- 59:54Speaker 5: I am working on like a judge, not necessarily a quiz,
- 1:00:00Speaker 5: but kind of like uh note cards kind of thing
- 1:00:06Speaker 5: to just help keep judges trained and stuff, and I
- 1:00:12Speaker 5: hope to have that before gen Con so I can
- 1:00:15Speaker 5: share it just has like I mean, I could pull
- 1:00:19Speaker 5: it up right now and I could see, Uh, if
- 1:00:22Speaker 5: I have a a good question to uh quiz you with,
- 1:00:28Speaker 5: let's see.
- 1:00:29Speaker 2: I will fail immediately.
- 1:00:32Speaker 3: I should know the answer because I'm going to be
- 1:00:33Speaker 3: a judge of Gencome, let's hope I don't.
- 1:00:36Speaker 2: Yeah, let's let's uh yeah, let's let's let's have dexter.
- 1:00:41Speaker 5: I I won't. I won't give you the really hard one.
- 1:00:45Speaker 5: But does exhausting a card that is already exhausted trigger
- 1:00:52Speaker 5: nil the withering tree?
- 1:00:57Speaker 3: I would say no, but I'm not one hundred percent
- 1:01:00Speaker 3: isn't sure that's a I don't know. I don't think
- 1:01:03Speaker 3: though it should because you're not exhausting it. Because it's
- 1:01:06Speaker 3: already exhausted.
- 1:01:08Speaker 2: Well, okay, so how is Noe of the Withering tree worded?
- 1:01:13Speaker 3: So after you exhaust a card, you can tap the
- 1:01:17Speaker 3: tree to then make them off token, but you're not
- 1:01:20Speaker 3: exhausting it if it's already what.
- 1:01:22Speaker 2: Is What is the exact wording though, Hold on because
- 1:01:29Speaker 2: that's important.
- 1:01:30Speaker 5: The exact wording is when you exhaust a card in reserve.
- 1:01:34Speaker 5: You may exhaust me to create a man of moth
- 1:01:38Speaker 5: to to to illusion token and target expedition, and then
- 1:01:43Speaker 5: it has it from it anywhere. But we don't have
- 1:01:45Speaker 5: to worry about that for this example.
- 1:01:48Speaker 2: So it's not when a card is targeted, it's when
- 1:01:51Speaker 2: a card is actually exhausted.
- 1:01:53Speaker 4: Yep.
- 1:01:54Speaker 2: And it has to be when you use right when
- 1:01:58Speaker 2: I exhausted because it.
- 1:02:00Speaker 3: Can be either your own or your opponents. So exhausted
- 1:02:03Speaker 3: resupply would count as exhausting your own card in reserve
- 1:02:07Speaker 3: and you could trigger.
- 1:02:07Speaker 2: It, and that would make sense. But if you're targeting
- 1:02:11Speaker 2: a card that is already exhausted, would that trigger it?
- 1:02:15Speaker 2: And I would say, based upon my very limited knowledge,
- 1:02:19Speaker 2: I would say no.
- 1:02:22Speaker 3: As well.
- 1:02:23Speaker 5: The answer is if an effect tells you to exhaust
- 1:02:28Speaker 5: target card in reserve. You can choose a card that's
- 1:02:32Speaker 5: already exhausted. However, it cannot re exhaust. Therefore, if the
- 1:02:38Speaker 5: rest of the fact says if you do, it will
- 1:02:41Speaker 5: not happen. So just yeah, I'm just just things like that.
- 1:02:46Speaker 2: So does nellem say if you do?
- 1:02:50Speaker 4: It?
- 1:02:50Speaker 2: Does say no?
- 1:02:51Speaker 3: It doesn't say if you do it says two, which
- 1:02:54Speaker 3: is a conditional you made.
- 1:02:57Speaker 7: It's interesting those separate wordings because if you look at
- 1:03:02Speaker 7: the common garrickt for example, from Bravos, he specifically says
- 1:03:09Speaker 7: if I were gain fleeting, I gained one boost. But
- 1:03:12Speaker 7: then he also says I can gain fleeting even I'm
- 1:03:15Speaker 7: already fleeting. So that's one of the scenarios where you
- 1:03:19Speaker 7: can apply something more than once.
- 1:03:20Speaker 3: But it's not something that you can normally do.
- 1:03:23Speaker 4: True.
- 1:03:24Speaker 3: Yep, you can normally assign the target for fleeting, it
- 1:03:30Speaker 3: just won't be assigned again.
- 1:03:33Speaker 7: You cannot give fleeting to an already fleeting character.
- 1:03:35Speaker 4: You can target it for sure.
- 1:03:37Speaker 3: Yes, you can target it, it just won't do anything.
- 1:03:40Speaker 5: M But yeah, those are the fun kind of things
- 1:03:43Speaker 5: I'm putting together to just kind of help. Are you
- 1:03:46Speaker 5: getting a paycheck yet technically at gen Con?
- 1:03:51Speaker 2: Yes, like, how about for like all this other stuff
- 1:03:55Speaker 2: you're doing.
- 1:03:56Speaker 5: Uh no, but I got a cool box.
- 1:04:01Speaker 2: Okay, whatever makes you happy, man. The last little nice
- 1:04:07Speaker 2: showering you in product.
- 1:04:09Speaker 5: But the last little part is about a digital roadmap.
- 1:04:15Speaker 5: Cedric or Charles, I should say Charles says like the
- 1:04:20Speaker 5: Marketplace in print on demand was a huge undertaking, so
- 1:04:24Speaker 5: oh yeah, taking a little time for them to celebrate,
- 1:04:28Speaker 5: but after that, there's a lot of projects to work on,
- 1:04:31Speaker 5: like the World Championships and Equinox will communicate on a
- 1:04:38Speaker 5: future digital roadmap soon, and it says the survey filled
- 1:04:45Speaker 5: out by early testers of Marketplace included a set of
- 1:04:49Speaker 5: priority goals for the development team and that's what they've
- 1:04:53Speaker 5: been choosing from to focus on next and then going
- 1:04:58Speaker 5: forward from Whispers from the Maze, new marketing outreach will
- 1:05:04Speaker 5: be done with influencers, streams and social media.
- 1:05:08Speaker 2: Ooh, are we an influencer?
- 1:05:11Speaker 5: Yeah, I would say, to their credit, they're they're really
- 1:05:19Speaker 5: good at staying engaged with the community. I would say
- 1:05:23Speaker 5: one of the areas where there's maybe a little bit
- 1:05:26Speaker 5: of a blind spot for them is podcasts and twitch.
- 1:05:32Speaker 2: Streams in community, in community, actual people doing things for
- 1:05:37Speaker 2: their game. Yeah, I would say so.
- 1:05:41Speaker 5: Just those two. They are very well connected with all
- 1:05:44Speaker 5: the others. But that is something that is being.
- 1:05:50Speaker 2: What you're saying is we got to put on cameras
- 1:05:52Speaker 2: and actually put a video on somewhere.
- 1:05:55Speaker 3: I think we want to if we want them to
- 1:05:57Speaker 3: pay attention to us.
- 1:05:58Speaker 5: Probably, No, I think you misunderstood what I said.
- 1:06:02Speaker 2: All right, Yes, we also want them to get more
- 1:06:06Speaker 2: more for the knuckle draggers that I am.
- 1:06:10Speaker 5: I said before. Now I think they're blind spots Twitch,
- 1:06:15Speaker 5: Twitch streams and podcasts going forward, they're working on changing
- 1:06:21Speaker 5: that and they have some things like working with Twitch.
- 1:06:26Speaker 5: And I won't say that I'm helping make a list,
- 1:06:31Speaker 5: but I am so.
- 1:06:33Speaker 2: So again with this, with this paycheck thing, are you
- 1:06:36Speaker 2: getting one? Like, oh my god, dude.
- 1:06:40Speaker 5: That's why I said, I'm not saying it so that
- 1:06:42Speaker 5: you can't say that.
- 1:06:43Speaker 2: Like you're like, oh, how much free work are you
- 1:06:47Speaker 2: given to this company?
- 1:06:48Speaker 3: A lot?
- 1:06:51Speaker 5: It's all. It's all for fun, for love of the game.
- 1:06:54Speaker 2: It's for something, man. I'll tell you what. I did
- 1:06:58Speaker 2: A lot of free work for key for way back
- 1:07:00Speaker 2: in the day. You know where it got me.
- 1:07:04Speaker 5: The number one key Forge podcast.
- 1:07:06Speaker 2: Well, I mean we are, but that's just because I'd
- 1:07:10Speaker 2: say weird things that nobody expects you to say. So
- 1:07:14Speaker 2: for a totally different reason.
- 1:07:16Speaker 5: Well, before we wrap up here, do you want to
- 1:07:19Speaker 5: answer a Patreon question?
- 1:07:21Speaker 2: Let's do it. What does draconas have to ask me
- 1:07:24Speaker 2: this week?
- 1:07:25Speaker 4: Oh?
- 1:07:25Speaker 5: Do you want me to ask a Draconi's question or
- 1:07:28Speaker 5: a chili question?
- 1:07:29Speaker 4: Oh?
- 1:07:29Speaker 2: Either one, man, Let's do one to each. Let's do
- 1:07:32Speaker 2: one to each. How about that?
- 1:07:33Speaker 3: That so good?
- 1:07:34Speaker 4: Chill?
- 1:07:35Speaker 5: Chili's other one that we haven't answered is I mean,
- 1:07:39Speaker 5: I feel like we've answered it a different way on
- 1:07:41Speaker 5: a different cast. Okay, we'll see if we can. We'll
- 1:07:44Speaker 5: see if we can answer it quickly.
- 1:07:45Speaker 2: All right?
- 1:07:46Speaker 5: Thoughts on how the community can get involved in supporting
- 1:07:50Speaker 5: Altered at future conventions and are Altered wanting to endorse
- 1:07:56Speaker 5: this support?
- 1:08:00Speaker 2: Wait? How how can we get involved in supporting Altered?
- 1:08:05Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 1:08:06Speaker 3: As a community events?
- 1:08:09Speaker 2: Community events? Boy, that's actually kind of a tough one.
- 1:08:13Speaker 4: That's that's what I say.
- 1:08:15Speaker 3: There's not much we can do just like participate in
- 1:08:18Speaker 3: what's already there, right, I mean, well showing up.
- 1:08:24Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:08:25Speaker 5: So the way that I would answer this is what
- 1:08:28Speaker 5: you guys said, Invite people you know, if an event
- 1:08:33Speaker 5: is happening in your area and you can attend, attend
- 1:08:37Speaker 5: beyond that if you really want. There are very often
- 1:08:44Speaker 5: conventions that have like open submissions for certain things like
- 1:08:51Speaker 5: panels or running a game or something like that. Like
- 1:08:56Speaker 5: Blue I think has done one or two conventions where
- 1:09:00Speaker 5: he just reached out to them and was like, hey,
- 1:09:02Speaker 5: can I come teach people how to play Altered there?
- 1:09:05Speaker 5: And then went and did it in Utah. The conventions
- 1:09:11Speaker 5: kind of suck and the people who own them kind
- 1:09:14Speaker 5: of suck. But maybe maybe you could see about doing
- 1:09:18Speaker 5: something with fan x or maybe I think anime bonds
- 1:09:24Speaker 5: I died. I don't remember one of the anime conventions died,
- 1:09:28Speaker 5: but maybe one of the little conventions. And then are
- 1:09:31Speaker 5: they wanting to endorse it? I think you guys joined
- 1:09:35Speaker 5: the hive, which is the first step to really doing.
- 1:09:39Speaker 4: All of that.
- 1:09:41Speaker 5: So yeah, that's that's it. And then yeah, just keep
- 1:09:46Speaker 5: an eye out for events and if you can make it,
- 1:09:49Speaker 5: make it. We have a lot of fun at the conventions.
- 1:09:52Speaker 5: It's a good time.
- 1:09:54Speaker 7: Convention is probably a good idea as well as that
- 1:09:56Speaker 7: people be cosplaying at those booths.
- 1:10:02Speaker 4: Yeah, like actual characters from the game.
- 1:10:05Speaker 5: Mm hmm if you want too, Yeah, if you want
- 1:10:09Speaker 5: if you want.
- 1:10:09Speaker 3: To people to do them, yeah, if you.
- 1:10:12Speaker 5: Want to, you'll probably be able to get invited pretty easily.
- 1:10:16Speaker 5: So right now, there are not very many altered couse players.
- 1:10:22Speaker 5: I want to say I know of four right now,
- 1:10:28Speaker 5: and I think that's about it.
- 1:10:31Speaker 4: Maybe five?
- 1:10:31Speaker 5: Yeah, five, I would say five.
- 1:10:34Speaker 2: I can't say I costs play much. I will lie
- 1:10:39Speaker 2: to no one on that forefront.
- 1:10:41Speaker 3: I cannot either. I I would have to play dress up,
- 1:10:45Speaker 3: but I don't want to make the outfit. That's too
- 1:10:47Speaker 3: much work.
- 1:10:48Speaker 5: There are people who take commissions. If you pay them money,
- 1:10:51Speaker 5: they'll make you a cost p Yeah. I also love
- 1:10:55Speaker 5: how Nick joined right after I finished answering a question
- 1:11:00Speaker 5: and talking about Utah. So now you'll have to listen
- 1:11:04Speaker 5: to the recording because Draconus's question is hype level for
- 1:11:11Speaker 5: this next set more less or equal to the previous?
- 1:11:16Speaker 2: I think more? M I don't know, like the fact
- 1:11:22Speaker 2: that there's a villain. I don't know.
- 1:11:28Speaker 4: It's dark and doomy mm hmm.
- 1:11:32Speaker 3: Exactly what will he wanted?
- 1:11:34Speaker 2: It is what I wanted. I don't know if I'm
- 1:11:36Speaker 2: more hyped for it, though, Like I feel like I'm
- 1:11:38Speaker 2: still kind of in that same same boat, right, and
- 1:11:44Speaker 2: I really haven't gotten to experience you guys probably have.
- 1:11:50Speaker 2: But like it feels fast, doesn't it.
- 1:11:57Speaker 3: Yeah, I kind of am not ready for this new set,
- 1:12:00Speaker 3: almost like I was super invested in seeing all the
- 1:12:03Speaker 3: spoilers for Tribby Frost, and then all the WFM spoilers
- 1:12:07Speaker 3: have already happened, and it's like I missed it completely
- 1:12:10Speaker 3: and I'm having to catch back up. I was like
- 1:12:12Speaker 3: not ready for it.
- 1:12:14Speaker 2: Yeah, I agree, Like I don't know, I just feel
- 1:12:16Speaker 2: like it went really fast, right, and it was like
- 1:12:19Speaker 2: all of a sudden said, whoa, it's here, you know.
- 1:12:21Speaker 2: So I don't know if I was prepared, And that
- 1:12:23Speaker 2: might be because being involved in two games is especially
- 1:12:27Speaker 2: at a high competitive level, is super difficult. And maybe
- 1:12:33Speaker 2: maybe one day Chili will get his wish and I
- 1:12:35Speaker 2: will leave KeyForge. I don't know.
- 1:12:38Speaker 7: Maybe it seems to me, at least it feels to
- 1:12:40Speaker 7: me like it's Alter's villain art type of thing.
- 1:12:44Speaker 2: I do love gates. I do love a good villain.
- 1:12:47Speaker 7: Yeah, Beyond the Gates felt to me like it was
- 1:12:51Speaker 7: like a fun introduction.
- 1:12:52Speaker 4: Then you have tries By Frost, which.
- 1:12:54Speaker 7: Was a cute set because it's like cute art and
- 1:12:58Speaker 7: so on. But then you have of the bays when
- 1:13:01Speaker 7: it's dark, and you have a supposed villain, and you
- 1:13:04Speaker 7: have all these weird abilities.
- 1:13:06Speaker 2: There's a little emo parasites that.
- 1:13:10Speaker 3: SAP, though SAP is kind of anti emo.
- 1:13:15Speaker 5: I think the SAP. I'm I'm concerned with the SAP.
- 1:13:18Speaker 5: But I've already I've already said that.
- 1:13:20Speaker 3: You think it's it's going to corrupt people or something.
- 1:13:23Speaker 5: Well, okay, I mean I feel like I've said this,
- 1:13:25Speaker 5: but I get that the Bravos are cooking with it.
- 1:13:29Speaker 5: Axiom is powering machines with it. I don't go around
- 1:13:33Speaker 5: chugging gasoline.
- 1:13:36Speaker 2: I mean, don't yuck. Somebody is yum. So I'm just.
- 1:13:40Speaker 5: Saying, maybe maybe this is, uh, you know, a vaping situation.
- 1:13:46Speaker 5: When vapes first came out, everyone was like, Oh, this
- 1:13:49Speaker 5: is so much better than smoking. This is going to
- 1:13:51Speaker 5: help people stop smoking. And I was like, that's probably
- 1:13:55Speaker 5: gonna No, I don't trust that that's gonna be terrible,
- 1:13:58Speaker 5: And then turns out it's probably worse than smoking.
- 1:14:03Speaker 6: Mm hmm.
- 1:14:05Speaker 5: I think that maybe.
- 1:14:06Speaker 2: Maybe you have to be determined on the vaporing front.
- 1:14:10Speaker 2: But I man, I want the SAP to be some
- 1:14:16Speaker 2: sort of like Borg shit, right, like it assimilates you.
- 1:14:20Speaker 5: That's that's what I'm saying.
- 1:14:21Speaker 2: I'm concerned because that would be cool as book. I think,
- 1:14:28Speaker 2: what if the SAP is the reincarnation of the lost
- 1:14:31Speaker 2: tribe weird and they all they are formed into some
- 1:14:37Speaker 2: sort of weird thing, and now they have to take
- 1:14:40Speaker 2: other people's bodies. I feel like I'm writing a Star
- 1:14:43Speaker 2: Trek episode right now. They have to take everybody's body
- 1:14:46Speaker 2: out of something through like the ingestion, and they can
- 1:14:49Speaker 2: take over bodies and machines through this SAP.
- 1:14:54Speaker 5: Do you want to, uh know, a weird piece of lore?
- 1:14:57Speaker 2: Sure?
- 1:14:58Speaker 3: Uh?
- 1:14:59Speaker 5: The Order are basically a hive mind and so the
- 1:15:06Speaker 5: Borg did? I did I not talk about this on
- 1:15:10Speaker 5: an episode we did not know?
- 1:15:12Speaker 4: You have? Yeah?
- 1:15:13Speaker 3: I know I talked at least I'm pretty sure someone.
- 1:15:19Speaker 5: Yeah. But there there are parasites, right, And the concept
- 1:15:23Speaker 5: of the parasites are is that there is one place
- 1:15:27Speaker 5: in every faction. So in Mouna it's Saskia. In Yizmir
- 1:15:34Speaker 5: there's now Silas who there was one other but I
- 1:15:41Speaker 5: can't remember if we know their name, but it's basically
- 1:15:47Speaker 5: been stated that they've put these parasites into each faction
- 1:15:50Speaker 5: to watch over them and kind of try to cause trouble.
- 1:15:55Speaker 5: If there's one inn ortis, doesn't that mean that Parasite
- 1:15:59Speaker 5: has a vail like outreach to all of artists?
- 1:16:06Speaker 3: Hmmm yeah, probably.
- 1:16:09Speaker 2: Some philosophical shit Mountain Cole.
- 1:16:11Speaker 3: Yeah, anyway, it's just how works.
- 1:16:15Speaker 5: There's actually been some more dark stuff in the lore
- 1:16:20Speaker 5: of Altered just more stories you have to read than
- 1:16:23Speaker 5: present on the cards. I think Whispers from the Maze
- 1:16:27Speaker 5: is a tiptoe into that, but I think the set
- 1:16:31Speaker 5: after might actually be when shit hits the fan.
- 1:16:36Speaker 4: But I don't know.
- 1:16:39Speaker 5: Something I to specifically answer the question, I think I'm
- 1:16:43Speaker 5: more excited to build decks from cards revealed.
- 1:16:48Speaker 6: Uh.
- 1:16:49Speaker 5: With Whispers from the Maze. I really did like Trial
- 1:16:53Speaker 5: by Frost, and I thought some of the mechanics and
- 1:16:55Speaker 5: how they just felt like you were in a frozen
- 1:16:59Speaker 5: tundra was super cool. But I am very excited for.
- 1:17:04Speaker 2: The I'm more interested to see like because I want,
- 1:17:08Speaker 2: I really really and I've hoped for this in a
- 1:17:11Speaker 2: lot of games. Uh, you want to be able to
- 1:17:14Speaker 2: see every hero do well, right, like it's it's super
- 1:17:20Speaker 2: boring even in faction, right, Like it's super boring to
- 1:17:24Speaker 2: be like, oh this is like even now. It's like,
- 1:17:28Speaker 2: you know, when they talked about the team aults, like
- 1:17:30Speaker 2: they were like, oh, no surprise, it was gives me
- 1:17:33Speaker 2: an artist, you know, and it's like, yep, no, no
- 1:17:36Speaker 2: one was. No one was shocked, right, Like that hasn't
- 1:17:41Speaker 2: been figured out, but like, man, I just really want
- 1:17:44Speaker 2: them to, like, I don't know, balance it out a
- 1:17:47Speaker 2: little bit more. I would really like to see every
- 1:17:51Speaker 2: faction become just as viable as every other faction, and
- 1:17:58Speaker 2: I feel like with every set we get a lot closer.
- 1:18:02Speaker 5: I think this set will help on the hero front.
- 1:18:07Speaker 5: I think what they pointed out in the article, like
- 1:18:11Speaker 5: our June specifically, there are hypothetically a lot of cards
- 1:18:17Speaker 5: that could be very good for Arguin this set. I
- 1:18:20Speaker 5: think the majority will still play Tasia, but gool Ring
- 1:18:25Speaker 5: at Saudi, a Rock, Sue, Bash, Sierra like all of them.
- 1:18:31Speaker 5: I think are going to do a lot better this set,
- 1:18:36Speaker 5: But Axiom is still going to be on the bottom.
- 1:18:38Speaker 2: Hot don't sound sad about it.
- 1:18:43Speaker 5: Yeah, I actually have no qualms against Axiom. I just
- 1:18:46Speaker 5: thought it was funny.
- 1:18:47Speaker 2: You can't be angry at the people who suck, right,
- 1:18:50Speaker 2: Like that's not it's like being angry at the bears, Like, no,
- 1:18:52Speaker 2: that doesn't happen. But yeah, I just I want to
- 1:18:56Speaker 2: see like just that gap closed, right, like artists cool,
- 1:19:03Speaker 2: Ortis and a fondness. I'm sorry Ortis and Yazmir aren't
- 1:19:07Speaker 2: like and don't get me wrong, love me some Yeazmir
- 1:19:11Speaker 2: and I love me some some some lyra but man,
- 1:19:16Speaker 2: like make everything super competitive and just I mean, if
- 1:19:20Speaker 2: that means you got to make.
- 1:19:21Speaker 3: Some everyone's competitive.
- 1:19:23Speaker 2: No one's competitive, correct, But if everyone's competitive, it comes
- 1:19:27Speaker 2: down to a player's skill balancing, right, and you can't
- 1:19:32Speaker 2: balance player's skill. But like, do you know what I
- 1:19:36Speaker 2: mean in this? In this scenario, like if if everyone's competitive.
- 1:19:40Speaker 3: Possible to balance at all six all not sixteen? What
- 1:19:45Speaker 3: there's eighteen heroes. It's not possible to balance all of them.
- 1:19:48Speaker 2: Maybe not all eighteen heroes, but like balance at least
- 1:19:51Speaker 2: not the factions, right, I mean, they're always gonna have
- 1:19:53Speaker 2: one hero that kind of comes to the forefront, but
- 1:19:56Speaker 2: at least have the factions balanced, right, make it more
- 1:20:00Speaker 2: of a rock paper. I don't even because I don't
- 1:20:02Speaker 2: even know if I like the idea of like a
- 1:20:04Speaker 2: rock paper scissors, like you know, Lyra beats Ortis, Ortis beatsa,
- 1:20:08Speaker 2: Muna beats Yazmir, yusme or beats ax you know, and
- 1:20:12Speaker 2: that weird. Like it's like, oh, because it just makes
- 1:20:14Speaker 2: bad matchups for you, which kind of sucks to play
- 1:20:17Speaker 2: against that went up against it this past weekend, Right,
- 1:20:20Speaker 2: my deck was just a bad matchup in the finals
- 1:20:23Speaker 2: against the deck I was going up against. It sucked
- 1:20:25Speaker 2: to play, right, it was, it was it was, it
- 1:20:28Speaker 2: was just it was terrible, right, I basically got to
- 1:20:31Speaker 2: sit there and watch my opponent play.
- 1:20:34Speaker 5: That's factions currently are very well neck and neck besides Axiom,
- 1:20:41Speaker 5: and I think, yeah, axiom.
- 1:20:43Speaker 2: Is, I still don't feel like their neck and neck.
- 1:20:46Speaker 2: I feel like there are two clear cut winners.
- 1:20:48Speaker 5: Yeah, that's because more people don't play finn.
- 1:20:52Speaker 2: Well, okay, fair, but I feel like it's like Ortis,
- 1:20:56Speaker 2: Yazmir right lyros Bravos Muna than Axiom. You got it
- 1:21:05Speaker 2: in the wrong order, but what the order was not

- 1:21:13Speaker 2: at the top of the hill, and then you've got
- 1:21:17Speaker 2: three factions that are kind of like so like you
- 1:21:19Speaker 2: got your S and then you got your A and
- 1:21:22Speaker 2: then you get well. You know, however you want to
- 1:21:25Speaker 2: praise that your f right, and then you have your
- 1:21:27Speaker 2: like I'm just here, I'm just here for the Lowells guy, right,
- 1:21:33Speaker 2: So I just I want more balance, I want more Like,
- 1:21:38Speaker 2: just print something busted for Axiom. What's the harm? They
- 1:21:42Speaker 2: ain't doing nothing anyway?
- 1:21:44Speaker 3: Make Axiom great and just just give them something a
- 1:21:47Speaker 3: little busted.
- 1:21:50Speaker 5: I think they'll do really well next set.
- 1:21:52Speaker 2: We'll see though, Oh so you heard it here first.
