- 0:24Hey guys, good afternoon, it's John C.
- 0:27Morley here, serial entrepreneur.
- 0:29Great to be with you on the show
- 0:30once again, in case you're wondering.
- 0:33Today is a Monday, yes, it starts the
- 0:35work week, but our week, as you know,
- 0:37starts on a Saturday and finishes up on
- 0:39a Friday.
- 0:41But it's great to be with you.
- 0:42It's actually our day three.
- 0:44We're very happy to be in our fifth
- 0:46year, actually our 12th day of our fifth
- 0:48year.
- 0:48That means we're celebrating being on the air
- 0:50over four years in a row and really
- 0:52grateful for that.
- 0:53Thank you to all of you great people
- 0:55that have been following us for so very

- 1:17more, go do that after the show, that
- 1:20is.
- 1:20All right, guys?
- 1:21All right.
- 1:22Again, it's great to have everyone here.
- 1:25If I haven't seen you yet this year,
- 1:27happy new year to everyone.
- 1:28It's really great, as I said, to have
- 1:29you here with me.
- 1:31We have an amazing year planned.
- 1:35As I said to you guys once before,
- 1:37if you fail to plan, then you inevitably
- 1:41have planned to fail.
- 1:43Let me say that again.
- 1:45If you have failed to plan, then you
- 1:47have planned to fail.
- 1:49All right, guys, without any further ado, I'm
- 1:51going to go ahead and kick this wonderful
- 1:54show off so we can get started.
- 1:57All right, everyone?
- 1:58Great.
- 2:01As we ponder in, we're on day three,
- 2:03and it's about fairness, integrity, and inner authority,
- 2:06series five, episode three.
- 2:08Hello, everyone, and welcome back to Inspirations for
- 2:11Your Life.
- 2:11This is the daily motivational show where growth
- 2:14is intentional, success is sustainable, and leadership begins
- 2:17from, yes, the inside out.
- 2:19I'm your host, in case you were wondering,
- 2:21John Seymour, a serial entrepreneur, engineer, marketing specialist,
- 2:25video producer, podcast host, coach, graduate student, and
- 2:29yes, guys, a passionate lifelong learner.
- 2:32This is the show where it's built from
- 2:36the ground up on real world experience, building
- 2:39businesses, leading people, and making decisions when shortcuts
- 2:43would have been easier, but integrity matters more,
- 2:47which is why we stick to that.
- 2:49Today's episode is all about a very interesting
- 2:52thing that oftentimes gets lost by the wayside,
- 2:55fairness, integrity, and inner authority.
- 2:58Sometimes those things get muffled when we talk
- 3:00about relationships or we talk about profits.
- 3:04Those things become more important than integrity, and
- 3:07they really shouldn't, right?
- 3:10Your inner authority is very important, and the
- 3:11quiet forces that create real power over time,
- 3:16because when everything else changes, your values are
- 3:19what keep you steady, trusted, and respected.
- 3:22I know it seems like a long journey,
- 3:25but as I said before, Rome was not
- 3:26built in a day, so we need to
- 3:29be patient.
- 3:31Number one, integrity builds authority.
- 3:35When your actions align with your words, people
- 3:38naturally trust and follow you.
- 3:41But if they don't, they're kind of like
- 3:43shaking their head or they're like, you know,
- 3:45second guessing, like, is he really telling the
- 3:48truth?
- 3:49Number two, guys, fair doesn't mean weak.
- 3:52Fairness requires strength, okay, discipline, and of course,
- 3:56confidence.
- 3:57So if you think fairness is all about
- 3:59being a weak person, you're wrong.
- 4:01Number three, guys, inner standards matter more than
- 4:05public praise.
- 4:07What you accept privately defines you publicly.
- 4:10Let me say that again.
- 4:11What you accept privately defines you publicly.
- 4:16Number four, guys, doing right is always on
- 4:18brand.
- 4:20Integrity never goes out of style.
- 4:23Regardless of what your coworkers say, your family
- 4:26say, your exes, or maybe even current relations
- 4:31are saying, it never goes out of style.
- 4:33And anybody who's telling you to operate in
- 4:36that domain, well, you probably should just 86
- 4:39them out of your life, all right?
- 4:41Number five, guys, oh, what have I told
- 4:43you?
- 4:43For those who are following me or just
- 4:46coming the first time, my new book just
- 4:48kicked off a few days ago and will
- 4:50be done within six to seven months.
- 4:51I'm really excited about that.
- 4:54Number five, character scales better than shortcuts.
- 4:57What's built right will last longer, and that's
- 5:00a fact.
- 5:01Number six, integrity compounds quietly.
- 5:05Small right choices add up over time.
- 5:08You don't need to cheat to win.
- 5:10Real success never requires compromise.
- 5:15I think that's important.
- 5:17Success may not always be easy, guys.
- 5:20It might not always drop in your lap,
- 5:23but it feels really good when you achieve
- 5:26it.
- 5:27Number eight, fair decisions sleep better at night.
- 5:32Yes.
- 5:32When you make fair ethical decisions, you can
- 5:35put your head down on that pillow and
- 5:38rest in peace.
- 5:40Peace of mind is priceless.
- 5:44Guilt, on the other hand, will do more
- 5:48and keep you up at night.
- 5:49It can affect your health, relationships, and so
- 5:52much more.
- 5:53Number nine, guys, trust is built in those
- 5:57small moments, those small moments.
- 6:01Consistency creates credibility.
- 6:04I talked about something the other day with
- 6:06a group that I wasn't getting traction in
- 6:08for a while.
- 6:09I decided to post something that was relatable
- 6:14to the entire group.
- 6:16I got 25, 26 responses and several likes.
- 6:21Number 10, guys, ethics outlasts trends.
- 6:27Values are timeless, so why don't we realize
- 6:31that?
- 6:32Well, people still think there's a magic bullet
- 6:36or there is an easy way to do
- 6:38things.
- 6:40There might be easy, and easy might be
- 6:43wrong.
- 6:44Not always, but a lot of times it
- 6:46is.
- 6:47This takes you back to a shortcut.
- 6:49You probably remember Wendy's.
- 6:51They've been around for a while.
- 6:53They had this interesting phrase.
- 6:55I'm not a big fast food person.
- 6:56It says, we don't cut corners.
- 7:01All your other places like Burger King, McDonald's,
- 7:06other places, they cut the corners.
- 7:08They give you a round burger.
- 7:09Well, not Wendy's.
- 7:11They give you a square burger.
- 7:13Number 11, guys, inner authority beats external validation.
- 7:19Self-trust creates confidence.
- 7:22And as confidence is built, we become more
- 7:26sustainable.
- 7:28We become more unstoppable.
- 7:32We become a force that no one's going
- 7:35to reckon with or could reckon with.
- 7:37Number 12, you don't need to cut corners
- 7:40to move forward.
- 7:41So progress built right is stable.
- 7:43I guess Wendy's must have did something there,
- 7:45right?
- 7:46Number 13, guys, fairness creates long-term leverage.
- 7:51It does.
- 7:52Even though it might seem like you're making
- 7:54it harder for yourself, it's ethical.
- 7:57It's the right thing to do.
- 7:59People remember how you treat them.
- 8:02I think that's an important thing to understand.
- 8:04People will never remember maybe something you said.
- 8:10They may not remember what you gave them,
- 8:14okay?
- 8:15Or even what you did for them.
- 8:17But they'll always remember one thing.
- 8:19If you said something or did something to
- 8:21them and it made them feel a certain
- 8:23way, remember how you made them feel.
- 8:26Number 13, fairness creates long-term leverage.
- 8:31People remember how you treat them, as I
- 8:33said.
- 8:34So treating is not something you just do
- 8:37today.
- 8:37It's something you do consistently over time.
- 8:41And what you're going to find out is
- 8:42a lot of these people out there that
- 8:44are going a certain way are going to
- 8:45say, hey, you know what?
- 8:47This person is true to their core.
- 8:50Not just when people are watching.
- 8:52Even when people aren't watching.
- 8:54I've said this to you before.
- 8:55We have to do the right thing even
- 8:57when no one else is watching.
- 8:58I know it's easy to do the right
- 9:00thing when people are watching.
- 9:01I want to reflect back on a funny
- 9:04social media post that I saw a few
- 9:07weeks ago.
- 9:08And it was about this airline company.
- 9:10I'm not going to mention the airline company.
- 9:11And there were people that were unloading the
- 9:14luggage.
- 9:14So when they saw themselves being filmed on
- 9:18camera, and they knew they were being filmed,
- 9:20they were so grateful with the bags.
- 9:22They took them off.
- 9:23They smiled.
- 9:24They would dust them off.
- 9:25I mean, it was comical.
- 9:27So when they didn't believe that they were
- 9:32being watched, they didn't dust the bag off.
- 9:34They just took the bag and they throw
- 9:35it.
- 9:36They just wang it somewhere.
- 9:40And I think a lot of baggage claim
- 9:43systems are like that.
- 9:45They don't treat your bag with true integral
- 9:50personality.
- 9:51They just see it as a bag, as
- 9:53a number, as another piece they have to
- 9:56move from point A to point B.
- 9:59But it was funny.
- 9:59When people knew they were being watched, that's
- 10:02when magic happened.
- 10:05But when they didn't think they were being
- 10:07watched, they acted differently.
- 10:10And that's something that we have to be
- 10:12very mindful of.
- 10:13We have to act the same way when
- 10:14people are watching us, when people aren't watching
- 10:16us.
- 10:17Number 14, guys, respect.
- 10:20Yep.
- 10:21Respect grows from consistency.
- 10:24Reliability, though, builds influence.
- 10:27So the reliability is us doing what we
- 10:31say we're going to do for much of
- 10:33our time.
- 10:33People can depend on us.
- 10:35So it's not dependable?
- 10:37Well, they're going to probably move to not
- 10:40just the back of the line or the
- 10:41back of the bus.
- 10:43They move to an entirely different line or
- 10:46maybe an entirely different vehicle that might not
- 10:49even be in the same state.
- 10:50You get my point.
- 10:51Number 15, guys, and I think number 15
- 10:54is really a big favorite of mine.
- 10:55Your values.
- 10:57That's right.
- 10:58Your values are your foundation.
- 11:02They're your core to who you really are
- 11:05every single day.
- 11:07Everything else just sort of rests on them.
- 11:10Think of it like this.
- 11:13In your home, you have lots of things,
- 11:16right?
- 11:17And you have a core foundation and everything
- 11:22else or the lumber or the metal just
- 11:25rests on that foundation.
- 11:29Of course, it's supported and things like that
- 11:32and nailed together, but it rests on that
- 11:34foundation.
- 11:36That's powerful, guys.
- 11:38Number 16, character is what remains under pressure.
- 11:46Character is what remains under pressure.
- 11:50Stress reveals truth.
- 11:55So character.
- 11:58I'm going to compare this to a diamond,
- 12:00okay?
- 12:01A diamond in the rough.
- 12:03So let's think of a diamond that is
- 12:07able to remain under pressure and it still
- 12:11has its same character.
- 12:12In fact, it becomes even more beautiful under
- 12:14pressure.
- 12:15Stress reveals the truth.
- 12:17Stress reveals that beautiful diamond, that beautiful creation
- 12:23that came from the earth.
- 12:25I'm not talking about zirconias.
- 12:26I'm not talking about fake diamonds.
- 12:28I'm talking about a diamond in the rough
- 12:31and how we can put it through processes
- 12:33and then we can get out its beauty
- 12:35and its luster.
- 12:37Number 17, guys, integrity protects your future self.
- 12:42Today's choices, guys, I don't know if you
- 12:44know this, they will shape tomorrow every single
- 12:47time.
- 12:48Whether you know about this stuff or you
- 12:50don't, it will still affect tomorrow.
- 12:53Number 18, fairness attracts the right people.
- 12:58Alignment draws alignment.
- 13:01When you're fair, you attract other people that
- 13:03are fair and you align with other positive
- 13:07alignment.
- 13:08That's just how our universe works.
- 13:10We attract that type of energy in our
- 13:12life and if we're attracting that energy, it
- 13:15means, well, we're not on the right frequency.
- 13:18We're not on the right channel, right?
- 13:20You've heard this before.
- 13:21If you turn on a channel, let's say
- 13:22you're looking to watch a football game but
- 13:25you're on a channel that's talking about cooking,
- 13:27you're never gonna see a football game on
- 13:29a channel that just does cooking, like Food
- 13:31Network, right?
- 13:31It's not gonna happen.
- 13:32When you get in alignment with sports and
- 13:34you tune into a sports network like ESPN,
- 13:37ESPN2 or another channel that plays sports, you're
- 13:41very likely to see sports, right?
- 13:44Make sense?
- 13:45Number 19, shortcuts cost more later.
- 13:51Yeah, my grandfather, when he was alive, he
- 13:55used to say to me, John, measure twice,
- 13:59cut once.
- 14:00And at the beginning, I didn't quite understand
- 14:02it but then I quickly realized when I
- 14:04made a mistake is that's why I told
- 14:06you to measure twice, cut once because see,
- 14:09once you cut, you can't uncut.
- 14:12There is no undo button.
- 14:14You have to start over again.
- 14:16And if there's not enough wood, gotta go
- 14:18get a new block of wood or a
- 14:20new slab or a new two by four
- 14:22or four by six or whatever it is
- 14:24that you're working with.
- 14:26So yes, guys, shortcuts cost more.
- 14:30Integrity avoids hidden costs.
- 14:33That's right, hidden costs.
- 14:34That's what integrity is about.
- 14:36Keeping integrity in check is not the easiest
- 14:40thing.
- 14:40I will admit that.
- 14:42And there are times when you wanna just
- 14:44sway because like, oh, I really don't wanna
- 14:46do that.
- 14:47That's gonna be a lot of extra work.
- 14:51It's important to stay true to your values.
- 14:57Number 20, guys, moral clarity simplifies decisions.
- 15:04So if you know about doing the right
- 15:06thing, you are more likely to do the
- 15:08right thing.
- 15:09So values remove confusion.
- 15:12I like to call them, as I said
- 15:13to you before, my core values, your core
- 15:15values.
- 15:16When you understand what your core values are,
- 15:19how they're part of your makeup and how
- 15:21everything you do has to go through those
- 15:25core values, then you understand.
- 15:28Think of it like this.
- 15:30In your home, every appliance you plug in
- 15:34has to go through the main core value
- 15:36of the electricity coming into your home.
- 15:39Every single thing has to go through that
- 15:42main electric panel, regardless of where the plug
- 15:45is in your house, it has to go
- 15:47through that panel.
- 15:51That's break prices.
- 15:54Number 21, guys, do right even when it's
- 15:57inconvenient.
- 15:58I know that we all wanna do right
- 16:00when it seems easy, when people are watching,
- 16:04when we're gonna probably get a pat on
- 16:05the back.
- 16:07But do we do this when it's uncomfortable?
- 16:12Do we do this when it's not convenient
- 16:14for us?
- 16:16I mean, I'm asking you a question.
- 16:17That's really what I'm doing here.
- 16:19I'm asking you a question.
- 16:20Do you do the right thing?
- 16:22You don't have to tell me.
- 16:24Talk to yourself.
- 16:26And if you don't do the right thing,
- 16:28then I would encourage you to change your
- 16:33mannerisms and your attitudes because this is only
- 16:36going to reflect on others.
- 16:41I said before, it's the boomerang effect or
- 16:44the butterfly effect.
- 16:45What we do percolates out to other people.
- 16:50We do good, right?
- 16:52We get the good back.
- 16:54We do bad, but we get the bad
- 16:56boomerang back.
- 16:58So do right even when it's inconvenient.
- 17:00And that's where, guys, the growth happens.
- 17:04Now, I don't want you to get upset
- 17:05and say, oh my gosh, John, I've been
- 17:07doing this, but no growth's been happening.
- 17:09Okay, so we don't do something once and
- 17:13expect it to just work.
- 17:14I'll give you a perfect example.
- 17:15So when I was younger, I learned to
- 17:18ride a bike, right?
- 17:19And I remember the very first time I
- 17:21got on that bike, what happened?
- 17:24I fell.
- 17:25I started pedaling and I fell.
- 17:27Now there were training wheels on the bike
- 17:30at first.
- 17:31So there was no chance of falling.
- 17:32But then once the training wheels came off,
- 17:36it felt funny.
- 17:37It felt different.
- 17:41And I didn't understand what balance was.
- 17:44The training wheels got me into the feeling
- 17:46of, you know, keep pedaling to keep it
- 17:49going.
- 17:49But even though I knew you had to
- 17:51keep pedaling, when I was on a bike
- 17:55without training wheels, it felt different.
- 17:59Whoa, whoa, whoa, you really have to pedal.
- 18:01If I stopped pedaling when the training wheels
- 18:03were on, the bike just stopped.
- 18:05But if I stopped pedaling when I'm riding
- 18:08and there's no training wheels, well, the bike
- 18:10would just, you know, fall to the ground.
- 18:16And I remember the times when I fell
- 18:18to the ground.
- 18:19I remember the first time I fell to
- 18:20the ground.
- 18:21I just wanted to go inside and, you
- 18:23know, just take it easy because that was
- 18:25a hard fall.
- 18:27And I was scraped, maybe a little bleeding.
- 18:29So I kind of wanted to call it
- 18:30quits.
- 18:32But my parents didn't let me do that.
- 18:33I went inside, I had lunch or I
- 18:35had a little snack or a cookie or
- 18:36something, used the restroom, came back out.
- 18:40And then I decided to get back on
- 18:41the bike again with their persuasive enthusiasm.
- 18:45And so I pedaled a little more, got
- 18:48two or three houses and then fell to
- 18:51the ground.
- 18:55And I got back on the horse again,
- 18:58or I said that the bike again, got
- 18:59even further and I fell again.
- 19:00But you get my point.
- 19:02I fell three and four times, but each
- 19:04time I fell, I didn't hit as hard.
- 19:07First time it was a pretty big of
- 19:10a, more than the scab, it was bleeding,
- 19:12right?
- 19:13The next time was more of a light
- 19:16bruise.
- 19:17Then it became a scrape.
- 19:20Then after the scrape, it became a light
- 19:22scrape.
- 19:22You get my point, don't you guys?
- 19:24I'm sure you do.
- 19:25Number 22, guys, long games reward integrity.
- 19:29If we're in life with a short game,
- 19:32don't even play.
- 19:33Don't even pick up a racket.
- 19:35Don't even go into the rink.
- 19:37Don't even try, if you're not in the
- 19:40game, the long-term integrity.
- 19:44Time favors the principle.
- 19:48But many people get upset because they're like,
- 19:50oh my gosh, the principles here hit principle
- 19:53here, but I don't know what I'm supposed
- 19:55to say, what I'm supposed to do.
- 19:58So I get confused.
- 19:59And when I get confused, it's like, oh
- 20:01my gosh, what am I going to say
- 20:02now?
- 20:03Number 23, guys, being fair is strategic.
- 20:09Trust accelerates results.
- 20:11Trust accelerates results.
- 20:14Nothing else.
- 20:15No manipulation, no mind games.
- 20:18Trust, trust accelerates results.
- 20:25Nothing else, guys, nothing else.
- 20:28That's powerful.
- 20:30It's so powerful that more people want to
- 20:34build trust.
- 20:35But when trust doesn't get built immediately, people
- 20:38give up.
- 20:39They're like, they want to go home.
- 20:40They don't want to try again because falling
- 20:45off a bike or whatever and it not
- 20:48working gets lonely.
- 20:51It's very lonely out there.
- 20:53And that's why people build trust so very
- 20:58slowly.
- 21:00Number 24, guys, trust is a force multiplier.
- 21:04It amplifies everything.
- 21:06Number 25, ethics are invisible armor.
- 21:11Ethics are there so that we stay within
- 21:15the parameters we're supposed to.
- 21:17Kind of like our boundaries.
- 21:21Your eyes will protect you when challenges arise.
- 21:25Could be ice, could be a variety of
- 21:30things.
- 21:31I remember, I'm still in Usher.
- 21:35I remember being in a time when people
- 21:39wanted me to push forward without ethics.
- 21:43Oh, John, don't worry about the ethics now.
- 21:45Just move forward.
- 21:48But if I move forward, then I wouldn't
- 21:50be with ethics.
- 21:51So I want to jump to a definition
- 21:55by Merriam-Webster.
- 21:57And the definition is of ethics.
- 22:02Ethics.
- 22:04So according to Merriam-Webster, ethic is a
- 22:09noun, a set of moral principles, a theory
- 22:13of system of moral values.
- 22:20Ethics, the principles of conduct governing an individual
- 22:26or a group.
- 22:28An awareness of moral importance of a specific
- 22:31thing, a guiding philosophy, ethos, a set of
- 22:36moral issues or aspects, or the discipline dealing
- 22:41with what is good and bad and with
- 22:44moral duty and obligation.
- 22:46These are very important things.
- 22:50And a lot of people miss them because
- 22:51they're so focused on getting to the end
- 22:54of the pool that they don't care about
- 22:57who they hurt.
- 22:57They don't care about what they do.
- 23:00And I'm going to share a story with
- 23:02you, which I think you're going to find
- 23:02as interesting.
- 23:03So love to competitive sail.
- 23:04I started sailing when I was in just
- 23:06in my single digit years.
- 23:09And I remember the first time I crewed,
- 23:13it was probably within a couple months of
- 23:16starting my sailing lesson.
- 23:17And I would go to sailing Monday, Wednesday,
- 23:19and Friday.
- 23:20And after sailing, I would go to Bay
- 23:22Beach Camp, which was right near our house.
- 23:24And so Bay Beach Camp was started at
- 23:27eight.
- 23:28Because I was in sailing, I would leave
- 23:31there.
- 23:32Basically they would start around, so 10 o
- 23:35'clock is when they would start the Bay
- 23:40Beach.
- 23:40They would start all this stuff.
- 23:41But what I noticed is that people oftentimes
- 23:46will do things without integrity because they think
- 23:49it's easier, because they see it as a
- 23:53quick way to get across the bridge.
- 23:57You know what happens the next time they
- 23:58try to cross that bridge?
- 24:00It's not so easy.
- 24:02So what happened in this race one day,
- 24:04we were racing with my skipper.
- 24:06So I was the crew and he was
- 24:07the skipper.
- 24:08And I remember going around the buoy.
- 24:11I remember asking questions like, oh, what happens
- 24:12when we hit it?
- 24:13We have to reroute it and stuff.
- 24:14I don't want to do that.
- 24:15So we got close to the buoy, very
- 24:17close.
- 24:19Then we hit it.
- 24:20And I'll call my skipper, I'll call him
- 24:22Joe.
- 24:22I'm like, Joe, we got to reroute it.
- 24:23He's like, be quiet.
- 24:25I said, we got to reroute it.
- 24:26This isn't, it's not ethical, it's not moral.
- 24:28Be quiet.
- 24:32And somebody yells out, you hit the buoy.
- 24:35He's like, no, I didn't.
- 24:37You hit the buoy.
- 24:38And I'm even saying it quiet.
- 24:40I'm like, you hit the buoy, you know
- 24:41you hit it.
- 24:42Be quiet.
- 24:43And they're like, we see you, we're going
- 24:45to protest.
- 24:46We see you too, we're going to protest.
- 24:47All right, I'll reroute the buoy.
- 24:49But why do people have to be dragged
- 24:53into a threat that they're potentially going to
- 24:56be challenged or eliminated?
- 24:58So the way it works is if I
- 25:00finish, let's say ahead of you, okay.
- 25:03And let's say I finished in first place.
- 25:06You're behind me.
- 25:07You're going to challenge me so you can
- 25:10actually get one place closer.
- 25:13You could get first.
- 25:14But the thing is, I think it's not
- 25:18just about that.
- 25:19I think it's about the fact that we
- 25:21still need to report it because the person
- 25:23should get thrown out of the whole race.
- 25:25That's my feeling.
- 25:29People don't act with integrity because sometimes they
- 25:33just don't think.
- 25:34They don't use their brain.
- 25:38It's a lot of brain power for them.
- 25:39And they feel if they use it, maybe
- 25:42they're going to lose that little edge they
- 25:44have.
- 25:44That's really just an illusion, the edge that
- 25:48you think you have.
- 25:51Number 26, guys.
- 25:54Integrity removes regret.
- 25:55Alignment brings peace.
- 25:59If we think about integrity, we think about
- 26:05being on the same plane and we know
- 26:09that doing the right things helps us and
- 26:11we want to keep doing that, then we're
- 26:13going to live a life with integrity.
- 26:15Number 27, guys.
- 26:16Reputation is built daily.
- 26:19Small actions matter.
- 26:20That's right.
- 26:20Small actions matter.
- 26:21I don't mean the big things.
- 26:22You don't need the grand gestures.
- 26:24The small actions matter.
- 26:26The time to send somebody a holiday card
- 26:29or to send a thank you to somebody
- 26:31or to wish somebody well who might be
- 26:33in the hospital or not feeling well.
- 26:36That's the small actions.
- 26:40That's what it's about.
- 26:44Number 28, guys.
- 26:46Fair play builds real power.
- 26:49Respect always beats fear.
- 26:52Now, some people will try to cajole you
- 26:55into saying that it doesn't matter, but you
- 26:59know inside it does matter.
- 27:01That's all that matters.
- 27:04Number 29, values guide when motivation fades.
- 27:07Discipline follows principles.
- 27:09Remember that.
- 27:11Values guide when motivation fades because motivation can
- 27:14get weak sometimes.
- 27:16That's what we have to rely back on
- 27:19our inner core, our true values.
- 27:21At the last point for this afternoon is
- 27:24authority comes from alignment.
- 27:26When action matches values, leadership always follows.
