- 0:10Shannon Jean: Boy, I could do some more sunscreen.
- 0:13Dave Hamilton: We all need it. I know. I don't like it.
- 0:16Shannon Jean: Though. I don't like it. But that doesn't mean I shouldn't wear it.
- 0:19Dave Hamilton: You've got to use the right sunscreen, and then it's not greasy. The face.
- 0:21Shannon Jean: Yeah, that's what I, that's what I.
- 0:23Dave Hamilton: I have some things to talk about on this. Okay, good. Yeah.
- 0:26Shannon Jean: Perfect. This is business brain brain. Good deal. It's sunny out here in California, man.
- 0:31Dave Hamilton: It turns out.
- 0:33Shannon Jean: Yeah.
- 0:34Dave Hamilton: I heard him sing about the warm California sun.
- 0:37Dave Hamilton: Greetings and welcome to Business Brain, the show where we take some ideas,
- 0:42Dave Hamilton: we crunch them, we dissect them, we use them to tune our business brains so
- 0:46Dave Hamilton: we can all level up our charmed lives.
- 0:49Dave Hamilton: Our sponsors for this episode include some of your favorites.
- 0:53Dave Hamilton: That's bitdefender.com slash brain, where you can save 30% on Bitdefender Ultimate

- 1:08Dave Hamilton: New Hampshire. I'm Dave Hamilton.
- 1:10Shannon Jean: And out here in Northern California, I'm Shannon Jean. Dude,
- 1:12Shannon Jean: those sponsors are awesome. They've been around forever.
- 1:15Dave Hamilton: Yep. Like Bitdefender.
- 1:16Shannon Jean: I can just remember using them.
- 1:19Shannon Jean: Ongoing shopify and you know there's just great i'm so i really feel honored
- 1:23Shannon Jean: that that those guys support us that
- 1:25Dave Hamilton: They still that yep it's ongoing it's really great yeah.
- 1:28Shannon Jean: Yeah i love it i love it very good uh i don't know whose topic are we starting with i i'll
- 1:37Dave Hamilton: I'll start here we we had a um you
- 1:40Dave Hamilton: know this week we here in the u.s we had memorial day on
- 1:43Dave Hamilton: monday and i opted to
- 1:47Dave Hamilton: really kind of detached this weekend and man
- 1:51Dave Hamilton: did i pay for it uh on
- 1:55Dave Hamilton: tuesday here which is the day we're recording you know it was just like oh man
- 2:00Dave Hamilton: i like i i usually like usually i can i can handle a four day week i guess it's
- 2:07Dave Hamilton: the monday off friday off i can i guess i'm better at planning for it where It's like I'm finished,
- 2:13Dave Hamilton: but I have so many things that I stack up for the beginning of the week.
- 2:18Dave Hamilton: I really like the beginning of the week. I like Mondays.
- 2:21Dave Hamilton: I'm not somebody that, you know, don't get me wrong. I enjoyed having the extra day and all that.
- 2:26Dave Hamilton: But like I didn't shift things in the right way to make Tuesday my Monday.
- 2:36Dave Hamilton: I let Tuesday be my Tuesday, you know, and that was like, oh,
- 2:40Dave Hamilton: no, no, no. This is this was terrible.
- 2:42Dave Hamilton: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It just it's an I've learned a lesson here.
- 2:47Dave Hamilton: I have I guess I've been in AI is is no small part of this,
- 2:53Dave Hamilton: but I've been sort of tweaking my my weekly schedule and carving out some more
- 2:59Dave Hamilton: time for myself to just kind of not be scheduled doing things.
- 3:05Dave Hamilton: And that works really well for me.
- 3:08Dave Hamilton: And I'm able to be very productive without that schedule. I mean,
- 3:14Dave Hamilton: I schedule the things I need to schedule. Yeah.
- 3:16Dave Hamilton: There is a rhythm to the way my Monday and Tuesday work together and trying
- 3:24Dave Hamilton: to do them all on the same day.
- 3:27Dave Hamilton: It was just like and I knew it when I was going to bed last night.
- 3:30Dave Hamilton: I'm like, oh, what have I done?
- 3:32Dave Hamilton: Yeah. Like I should have I should have prepared more.
- 3:36Dave Hamilton: Like I should have thought about this on Thursday or Friday and been like,
- 3:38Dave Hamilton: all right, what can I juggle around? I, you know, I don't schedule meetings
- 3:42Dave Hamilton: for Tuesday because that's going to be your, your, your first day,
- 3:46Dave Hamilton: you know? So, yeah. Yeah.
- 3:48Shannon Jean: I feel the same way. I'd rather do the Friday thing. I don't know.
- 3:51Shannon Jean: I'm just, I feel more prepared and maybe I'm just conditioned that way.
- 3:55Shannon Jean: But, you know, I like you, I'm Monday's great.
- 3:58Shannon Jean: I mean, I think it's just, it's awesome. And I have no problems.
- 4:01Shannon Jean: I don't dread it. I'm like, oh, great. I'm going to get back, back into things.
- 4:03Dave Hamilton: I get to get back into things, but I, but I've, I've built myself.
- 4:07Dave Hamilton: I wouldn't say Mondays are easy days for me. Like I get plenty done,
- 4:12Dave Hamilton: but it's a, it's a ramp into Tuesday, you know, and, and I, I wind up booking
- 4:17Dave Hamilton: a lot of things on Tuesday and it's like, oh wait, I didn't,
- 4:20Dave Hamilton: I just didn't plan ahead.
- 4:21Dave Hamilton: Well, that was my, that was my main issue. You know, if I was traveling,
- 4:24Dave Hamilton: I would have, I would have planned ahead for it, but it was like,
- 4:28Dave Hamilton: ah, it's just a Monday holiday. Like, I don't need to worry about it. It'll be fine.
- 4:31Dave Hamilton: It'll be fine. And it, I don't know. I was, I was, yeah, I'm usually much better at this.
- 4:36Shannon Jean: It's, yeah, that's interesting. I listened to some, I was listening to somebody
- 4:41Shannon Jean: might've been over the weekend talk about how the,
- 4:45Shannon Jean: The work week is dead anyway because people are working all the time and you've
- 4:50Shannon Jean: got your device with you and this kind of stuff.
- 4:52Shannon Jean: And I feel the same way. It's like yesterday I really felt, because yesterday
- 4:56Shannon Jean: was Memorial Day when we're recording this. Yeah.
- 5:01Shannon Jean: And I kept getting a sense that it was Sunday. I was like, oh,
- 5:05Shannon Jean: I got to do some office work. I got to do some stuff, prep. I had to do a couple of newsletters.
- 5:09Shannon Jean: And then I was like, oh, I got to go out and do some, I got to chop down part
- 5:13Shannon Jean: of this tree and get my chainsaw out.
- 5:15Shannon Jean: But it was, I was still glad I was able to dip in and out and get some things
- 5:24Shannon Jean: done because I sleep better knowing that I've checked things off my list.
- 5:30Dave Hamilton: Yes. Oh, ah, yes. The two did list is the best sleep aid, Shannon. It is.
- 5:37Shannon Jean: It is. As I look back and I go, oh, I got that done. It could be anything.
- 5:41Shannon Jean: It'd be like, oh, I actually, I worked on the pool for an hour.
- 5:45Shannon Jean: And then I did this and I wrote a newsletter and I did this.
- 5:47Shannon Jean: So that's my, that's my sleep aid is sitting there thinking about,
- 5:52Shannon Jean: oh yeah, okay, I got this done. I did this check, check, check my to did.
- 5:55Shannon Jean: If you don't know what the to did list is, go to businessbrain.show and search for to did.
- 6:00Shannon Jean: Maybe Dave will link it actually in the show notes today.
- 6:04Shannon Jean: Yep. He's good at that, but that's, I don't like to do lists,
- 6:07Shannon Jean: but if i have a well typically my day at the end of the day i want to check
- 6:12Shannon Jean: things off i got done that's my two did and the more i productive i am the better
- 6:16Shannon Jean: i sleep and if i lay there think i didn't get anything done i know i have to
- 6:19Shannon Jean: do better the next day and it's just very simple but it works for
- 6:23Dave Hamilton: Me no it it absolutely i'm i'm the same way yeah i i i,
- 6:29Dave Hamilton: I found it interesting when we dug in deeper that you have no problem.
- 6:33Dave Hamilton: And I understand completely why you have no problem with a reminders list.
- 6:38Dave Hamilton: You don't like a to-do list.
- 6:40Shannon Jean: Yeah, that's right. I don't want to be told what to do. You can remind me what
- 6:45Shannon Jean: needs to be done. That's very different.
- 6:48Dave Hamilton: No, I totally get it. I'm not making fun.
- 6:51Dave Hamilton: Like I, when you said it, it was like, oh yeah, like that. But I guess the way,
- 6:56Dave Hamilton: and I mean, it's just, but it is the language we use to speak to ourselves, right?
- 7:02Dave Hamilton: But when I look at my to-do list, it is like no one else has control over that list.
- 7:09Dave Hamilton: Like that list is populated by me and I can choose to move things around and
- 7:15Dave Hamilton: I have the freedom to do that, right?
- 7:16Dave Hamilton: It's mine and I'm accountable only, well, there's some things on there that
- 7:20Dave Hamilton: I am accountable to other people for.
- 7:22Dave Hamilton: But, you know, I'm accountable to myself first on that list.
- 7:25Dave Hamilton: And so it never bothered me to call it a to-do list because it's not,
- 7:30Dave Hamilton: I'm not being told what to do, right? Like it is, it is just a reminders list.
- 7:36Dave Hamilton: It's a self, it's a self-created list. So, but I get it.
- 7:40Dave Hamilton: Like that language we use to talk to ourselves is super, super important in
- 7:44Dave Hamilton: a lot of different ways. Yeah.
- 7:46Shannon Jean: Yeah. Cause I look at the to-do as it's like a barrier in front of me.
- 7:50Shannon Jean: Yeah. Reminders keep moving me along.
- 7:53Dave Hamilton: I, yeah, I like it.
- 7:55Shannon Jean: And it just kind of prompts me and I set them up throughout the day.
- 7:58Shannon Jean: So I know that last night I'm like, oh, remind me at 10 a.m. to do this.
- 8:03Shannon Jean: Remind me at 10 30 to do this. And then I off, I've offloaded it from my brain.
- 8:07Dave Hamilton: Oh, that's the best part.
- 8:09Shannon Jean: Yeah. I know. I don't have to think about it. Like, oh, I got to schedule this
- 8:13Shannon Jean: thing. I got to do this. I got to create this.
- 8:15Shannon Jean: So, you know, once it's out, I stopped thinking about it. Yep.
- 8:19Shannon Jean: I don't think about it all
- 8:20Dave Hamilton: Same at all yeah uh yeah i highly highly recommend if you,
- 8:25Dave Hamilton: Well, if you're someone who relies on your memory for things,
- 8:30Dave Hamilton: I encourage you to ask two questions.
- 8:33Dave Hamilton: And these are the questions I asked of myself, which is why I'm encouraging
- 8:36Dave Hamilton: you to ask two questions.
- 8:37Dave Hamilton: One is, is your memory perfect?
- 8:40Dave Hamilton: And for me, that answer was no. And I would miss things, right?
- 8:46Dave Hamilton: And then the other part is, even when it serves me, when my memory serves me,
- 8:51Dave Hamilton: my memory is very good. It's not perfect, but it's very.
- 8:53Shannon Jean: Very good.
- 8:54Dave Hamilton: Uh when my memory serves me it is taking up brain cycles because i am actively
- 9:01Dave Hamilton: having to think about tokens.
- 9:02Shannon Jean: Dave you're using tokens i'm
- 9:03Dave Hamilton: Using tokens right yeah and when i offload it to my my calendar in some way
- 9:09Dave Hamilton: shape or form it's it there's no more tokens like the process is has ended until
- 9:14Dave Hamilton: such time as i get back around to like when the the date comes and it's like
- 9:18Dave Hamilton: oh i have that that thing to do. Okay, great.
- 9:21Shannon Jean: It's so important, man. And it's a fundamental part of my life where I'm juggling,
- 9:28Shannon Jean: I don't know, 30 things at a time, maybe, maybe even more.
- 9:34Shannon Jean: Multiple businesses, all kinds of opportunities, this show, email,
- 9:38Shannon Jean: newsletter, content, video, on and on and on and on.
- 9:41Shannon Jean: Sometimes things do slip through the cracks, but that keeping,
- 9:46Shannon Jean: yeah, figuring out the language that works for you and your brain and how you
- 9:53Shannon Jean: process information is really important.
- 9:55Shannon Jean: Like Slack, I use a Slack reminders all the time. I'll read something and I'll
- 9:59Shannon Jean: go, okay, I can't do that right now, but I'll set the reminder and I'll come
- 10:03Shannon Jean: back in three hours. I do that all the time.
- 10:06Dave Hamilton: I wish I could do that with iMessage, but that's a whole lot of conversation.
- 10:09Shannon Jean: Why can't we do that with iMessage? Dude,
- 10:11Shannon Jean: It's ridiculous, Dave, that we can't do that.
- 10:14Dave Hamilton: It's 2026, and we can't do that.
- 10:16Shannon Jean: And we can't set a reminder. Yep. That's unbelievable. I agree.
- 10:19Shannon Jean: I was just thinking about that the other day.
- 10:20Dave Hamilton: Yep. Yeah. Sucks.
- 10:21Shannon Jean: Anyway, find the language that works for you, and if you have a system that
- 10:25Shannon Jean: you'd like us to talk about, feedback at businessbrain.show,
- 10:28Shannon Jean: we'd love to hear from you.
- 10:29Dave Hamilton: Absolutely. We have a business to talk about, a system, in fact,
- 10:33Dave Hamilton: that we're going to talk about in a little bit.
- 10:35Dave Hamilton: The next thing we're going to do is I'm going to tell you about our sponsors. Yeah.
- 10:40Dave Hamilton: And every entrepreneur knows that 2 a.m. voice, right? The what if no one buys from me?
- 10:47Dave Hamilton: What if I pick the wrong idea?
- 10:50Dave Hamilton: What if I'm not cut out for this charmed life?
- 10:54Dave Hamilton: And you can flip this for yourself, folks, by using Shopify.
- 10:59Dave Hamilton: I use Shopify for another podcast and another one of my businesses,
- 11:03Dave Hamilton: in fact, where we sell merch for both.
- 11:04Dave Hamilton: And we went from should we even try this
- 11:08Dave Hamilton: to our very first sale in the
- 11:10Dave Hamilton: same day like we had the idea at
- 11:13Dave Hamilton: a staff meeting in the morning and then i went and i signed us up for shopify
- 11:18Dave Hamilton: and i went through the process and i got us online and our first sale happened
- 11:22Dave Hamilton: before i went home for dinner shopify is packed with ai tools that write your
- 11:28Dave Hamilton: product descriptions your headlines and even enhance your product photography.
- 11:33Dave Hamilton: You can spin up email and social campaigns like you've got a marketing team
- 11:37Dave Hamilton: behind you, plus award-winning 24-7 support whenever you get stuck.
- 11:42Dave Hamilton: I've started reading my Shopify analytics out loud like bedtime stories,
- 11:47Dave Hamilton: and that's why I hear ka-ching.
- 11:50Dave Hamilton: It's time to turn those what-ifs into cha-ching with Shopify today.
- 11:55Dave Hamilton: Sign up for your $1 per month trial at shopify.com slash businessbrain.
- 12:01Dave Hamilton: Go to shopify.com slash businessbrain.
- 12:05Dave Hamilton: That's shopify.com slash businessbrain.
- 12:08Dave Hamilton: And our thanks to Shopify for sponsoring this episode.
- 12:13Dave Hamilton: And we entrepreneurs often live one click away from chaos, right?
- 12:19Dave Hamilton: One bad link and the charmed life we've been building turns into a very expensive Tuesday.
- 12:25Dave Hamilton: The things that I've been thinking about lately are things like those emails
- 12:29Dave Hamilton: that you get that ask you to redirect someone's paycheck or send you an invoice, right? Right.
- 12:37Dave Hamilton: And like those kinds of things can really send you in the wrong direction.
- 12:43Dave Hamilton: And this is where our sponsor Bitdefender stands out for me.
- 12:48Dave Hamilton: Bitdefender is a global leader in cybersecurity and their ultimate small business
- 12:52Dave Hamilton: security is built for businesses with 25 or fewer employees and no IT team on standby.
- 12:59Dave Hamilton: And what I really like is the AI powered scam protection trained on exactly
- 13:04Dave Hamilton: these kinds of small business tricks.
- 13:06Dave Hamilton: You also get business reputation monitoring, password management,
- 13:10Dave Hamilton: unlimited VPN, and one clean dashboard so you can secure the whole team without
- 13:15Dave Hamilton: becoming the security department yourself, right?
- 13:19Dave Hamilton: I love what they're doing, and I think it's great. Keep your small business
- 13:23Dave Hamilton: safe with Bitdefender Ultimate Small Business Security and save 30% when you
- 13:28Dave Hamilton: go to bitdefender.com slash brain.
- 13:30Dave Hamilton: That's bitdefender.com slash brain for 30% off.
- 13:34Dave Hamilton: Go check it out. I think you're going to like it. And our thanks to Bitdefender
- 13:37Dave Hamilton: for sponsoring this episode.
- 13:39Dave Hamilton: All right, Shannon, tell me about this business that you got. Okay.
- 13:44Dave Hamilton: That we're going to dissect here. It's not your business, right? I don't think so.
- 13:47Shannon Jean: I wish it was. I wish it was my business, Dave. So there's a business called S.B. Mowing.
- 13:56Shannon Jean: Okay. Somebody's initials. Guy's name is Spencer.
- 13:58Shannon Jean: All right. And if you go to S.SierraBravoMowing.com.
- 14:03Dave Hamilton: Love the use of the Nato Photography. Phonetic alphabet, that makes me happy.
- 14:06Shannon Jean: You told me that, yes, yes. You could also, they're very big on YouTube. And this is a...
- 14:15Shannon Jean: He's a landscape maintenance guy, right? Yeah.
- 14:18Shannon Jean: And so he starts as a kid doing landscape maintenance and doing mowing and doing all this stuff.
- 14:24Shannon Jean: But somewhere along the way, in high school, maybe a little later,
- 14:29Shannon Jean: he's a little older than that now, he realizes that, hey, you know what?
- 14:32Shannon Jean: I should film myself time-lapse doing all this work.
- 14:37Shannon Jean: And so he's doing just mowing in the summer months. And he's filming and he's
- 14:43Shannon Jean: posting, starts posting time-lapse videos of these big weeds and tall weeds
- 14:49Shannon Jean: and edging and everything.
- 14:50Dave Hamilton: So for those of you that aren't watching along with us, I need to share with
- 14:53Dave Hamilton: you what's happening to everyone that is watching along with us.
- 14:57Dave Hamilton: Yes. If you've ever power washed something or mowed a lawn, it's super satisfying
- 15:03Dave Hamilton: to look back, certainly when you're finished.
- 15:05Dave Hamilton: But even, you know, as you finish sections, you're like, ah, I did that.
- 15:09Dave Hamilton: Like it's complete. It's satisfying. Watching time-lapse video of this is like crack.
- 15:15Dave Hamilton: Yeah. Yes. It's great. Oh, man.
- 15:18Shannon Jean: And he figured this out. His YouTube channel takeoff.
- 15:21Shannon Jean: So as of now, SB Mowing has 55 million followers.
- 15:28Shannon Jean: Yeah. 55 million.
- 15:30Dave Hamilton: Of course it does.
- 15:32Shannon Jean: Yes, of course it does. And 3 billion annual views.
- 15:37Dave Hamilton: So he's making bank from YouTube. And then also he's got a side job of a filming his content.
- 15:45Shannon Jean: He no longer charges for the service.
- 15:49Dave Hamilton: That's amazing.
- 15:50Shannon Jean: This is what I'm trying to get across. he does not charge for the lawn edging
- 15:57Shannon Jean: mowing cleanup of these yards because it's
- 16:00Dave Hamilton: Just him finding content.
- 16:01Shannon Jean: He finds the worst ones he goes up to the door and says hey i i'd like to do
- 16:06Shannon Jean: this for free i've got a a little youtube channel and if you don't mind and
- 16:12Shannon Jean: they people are like okay great it's awesome and then he also during he also
- 16:18Shannon Jean: does pressure washing so yeah
- 16:20Dave Hamilton: The power washing is one of the most, that's one of the most satisfying things.
- 16:25Shannon Jean: What do they call those videos? AS, AMR, AS?
- 16:28Dave Hamilton: Well, there's the ASMR, but that's the sound stuff. That's different.
- 16:31Shannon Jean: That's the sound stuff.
- 16:32Dave Hamilton: Yeah.
- 16:32Shannon Jean: Yeah. But anyway, there's so many viewers and so many people.
- 16:37Shannon Jean: This guy's making over six figures a month on YouTube.
- 16:39Dave Hamilton: Oh, of course he is. Oh, yeah.
- 16:41Shannon Jean: Probably a couple hundred thousand dollars a month. That's a $2.4 million business
- 16:47Shannon Jean: out of a pickup truck and a trailer.
- 16:51Shannon Jean: What we have said on this show over and over again is every business is in the social media business.
- 16:58Shannon Jean: And you have, you must, it is imperative that you find a way to integrate time-lapse
- 17:05Shannon Jean: video into your marketing.
- 17:08Shannon Jean: I don't care if you're taking water heaters out. I don't care if you're detailing
- 17:12Shannon Jean: cars, if you're painting houses, if you're an accountant, figure it out.
- 17:18Shannon Jean: Because everybody falls into this net of, oh, look at this video. This is crazy.
- 17:25Shannon Jean: And if you go watch this stuff, like Dave said, it's like crack.
- 17:29Shannon Jean: And so here are guys like, well, I'm just gonna start this mowing business and yada, yada, yada.
- 17:34Shannon Jean: And it's got a really interesting story if you read them at sbmowing.com.
- 17:38Shannon Jean: But then he just realized, hey, there's a hundred times more money in doing
- 17:46Shannon Jean: these time-lapse videos and posting them on YouTube every week.
- 17:51Shannon Jean: And I love it. And I'm totally here for it. And if any business you talk about, we could find a way to.
- 17:59Shannon Jean: So if you're listening and you're like, well, I can't really integrate time.
- 18:02Dave Hamilton: Well, let's just do it. I challenge you. I'll go first.
- 18:06Shannon Jean: Pick a hard one.
- 18:07Dave Hamilton: I mean, I'm going to do it. I think we need to do it for our businesses.
- 18:10Dave Hamilton: Like we got to dog food this.
- 18:11Dave Hamilton: So I mean, I have an easy one that just came to mind as we were looking at what
- 18:17Dave Hamilton: Spencer's doing. and I'm going
- 18:18Dave Hamilton: to go into business competing with Spencer because he has a good idea.
- 18:21Dave Hamilton: I might as well compete with it if I can get 1% of what he's doing.
- 18:24Shannon Jean: Best practices. You got it.
- 18:26Dave Hamilton: I'm going to time-lapse. I've been testing, and I'm going to be testing.
- 18:30Dave Hamilton: Another one just arrived. I've been testing robot lawnmowers.
- 18:34Dave Hamilton: I'm going to time-lapse the robot lawnmowers. I love it. Yep.
- 18:39Shannon Jean: That's a big deal. Yeah, it's massive.
- 18:42Dave Hamilton: And it's easy.
- 18:43Shannon Jean: It's very easy.
- 18:44Dave Hamilton: I think to your point, Shannon, And it's not come up with something new to do
- 18:48Dave Hamilton: that you can time lapse, figure out what you're already doing that you can put a camera up.
- 18:53Dave Hamilton: And really the other thing that I I've been I know I need to do is time lapse
- 19:00Dave Hamilton: setting up and tearing down my drums at every gig.
- 19:04Shannon Jean: Yep.
- 19:05Shannon Jean: Oh, that would be huge.
- 19:07Dave Hamilton: People will lose their minds. Like you're doing it wrong. Or why do you do that?
- 19:11Dave Hamilton: Or, oh my God, that's cool, right?
- 19:13Shannon Jean: I had, yeah, one of the biggest posts I've had is I bought a big,
- 19:18Shannon Jean: one of those ginormous, like sharper image massage chairs that kind of sucks you into the pod.
- 19:23Shannon Jean: So I bought one of those at an auction. And after a little while,
- 19:26Shannon Jean: I was like, eh, I'm not gonna use this thing.
- 19:28Shannon Jean: So sat in my garage for a couple of years and it was kind of a beat up shape
- 19:33Shannon Jean: by that time. The mice had found a home.
- 19:36Shannon Jean: And so I said, okay, I'm going to pull it out. Rather than try to sell it,
- 19:39Shannon Jean: clean it up, I said, it's more valuable to me.
- 19:41Shannon Jean: I dragged it into my driveway. I set up my phone.
- 19:45Shannon Jean: I got out my big grinder and I cut it up on time lapse.
- 19:52Shannon Jean: And it was great because when you start grinding into the frame,
- 19:55Shannon Jean: the sparks are flying out and everything. Right.
- 19:58Shannon Jean: And to your point, half of the comments were about me doing it wrong.
- 20:03Shannon Jean: Using the wrong tool, why I should have done X instead of Y,
- 20:07Shannon Jean: why are you cutting it up? And the engagement was off the charts.
- 20:10Shannon Jean: I think I got about 500,000 views. Matter of fact, I'll find it and I'll give
- 20:14Shannon Jean: it to you for the show notes. Sure.
- 20:15Shannon Jean: And so anything you do, whether it's anything, like I said, a hard one would
- 20:21Shannon Jean: be like, okay, I'm an accountant, what do I do? I don't know.
- 20:23Shannon Jean: Tie-lapse yourself walking into an office and working at somebody's,
- 20:28Shannon Jean: working at your computer.
- 20:29Dave Hamilton: Right?
- 20:32Dave Hamilton: The filter to use if you're having trouble coming up with something is come
- 20:38Dave Hamilton: up, find the repetitive, the grunt work that you do.
- 20:43Dave Hamilton: Yeah, I like that. Find the grunt work. And when it's time-lapsed,
- 20:47Dave Hamilton: it's far more interesting to watch.
- 20:50Dave Hamilton: And that's what you can go do. All right, Shannon, I got a question for you.
- 20:54Shannon Jean: Yes, sir.
- 20:54Dave Hamilton: Because we have a couple of, there's a couple in contention here.
- 20:57Dave Hamilton: From your standpoint, what is your submission for this episode's big takeaway?
- 21:04Shannon Jean: My big takeaway here is you have to integrate time-lapse videos into your marketing.
- 21:10Dave Hamilton: Okay. Mine still is that the two-did list is the very best sleep aid.
- 21:18Shannon Jean: Okay. I could back myself up.
- 21:22Shannon Jean: I do agree 100% with that. so okay that that's a that is a huge takeaway and
- 21:28Shannon Jean: it's such a mental game that you play with yourself yeah uh as you go to sleep
- 21:33Shannon Jean: or whatever that it helps you because it really helps improve you the
- 21:37Dave Hamilton: Next day that's it right yep yeah in a lot of ways i'm on board and also you're
- 21:41Dave Hamilton: getting better if it actually works and you're getting better sleep like like
- 21:45Dave Hamilton: yeah you know sleep is the first domino right if if you don't get good sleep
- 21:50Dave Hamilton: the rest of it doesn't matter so especially.
- 21:52Shannon Jean: Especially as you age.
- 21:54Dave Hamilton: Which is something we're all doing.
- 21:56Shannon Jean: Yes, yes, yeah. And I mean, when I was like 30 years old, it was like,
- 21:59Shannon Jean: whatever, I'll stay up till three in the morning and then get up at seven and
- 22:02Shannon Jean: keep going. But you know, it's different. It's different now.
- 22:04Dave Hamilton: It changes a little bit.
- 22:05Shannon Jean: Yeah. So that is the big takeaway. The two-did list.
- 22:08Dave Hamilton: All right. I love it. Well, there it is. Thanks for hanging out, folks.
- 22:11Dave Hamilton: It's been a blast. Make sure to check out businessbrain.show and send your email
- 22:19Dave Hamilton: into feedback at businessbrain.show.
