US teacher revisits Chinese desert-control project 27 years later
Former American high school history teacher Ronald Sakolsky raised 5,000 dollars from US donors for a pair of Chinese desert-control pioneers in 1999. The fund has helped the Chinese pioneers expand a small swathe of green to more than eight million trees, covering more than 11,000 acres of once-barren land.
