- 3:19Speaker 4: Say beautiful Gemini echoes?
- 3:23Speaker 2: I mean, oh my god.
- 3:25Speaker 4: Okay, So tonight we have our returning author, missus Martine Moore,
- 3:32Speaker 4: and she's here to talk about her newest book.
- 3:35Speaker 2: Hey, girly, hey are you?
- 3:40Speaker 4: I am a crazy? How are you?
- 3:44Speaker 6: Oh? I'm good. I'm good on this new journey. I'm good.
- 3:48Speaker 2: And you know, I think they feel safe. They brought
- 3:52Speaker 2: us two back together again, did they not the first
- 3:56Speaker 2: time when we'd had the poetry book. Now this one
- 4:02Speaker 2: is an actual full length novel. Oh my god? So yes, first,
- 4:12Speaker 2: you gotta tell us a little bit about yourself.
- 4:20Speaker 7: Well and my author to Tom's selling an award winning author. Now,
- 4:26Speaker 7: since the last time I saw you on the show,
- 4:28Speaker 7: I want an International Impact Book Award for Phoenix Heart.
- 4:34Speaker 7: So I'm author, I'm still I'm in HR, still doing
- 4:39Speaker 7: my HR thing and living life, living life.
- 4:46Speaker 2: All right, So.
- 4:50Speaker 4: First congratulations and they choose the right person, so automatically congratulations,
- 4:58Speaker 4: so you thank you. Where going from poetry to a
- 5:05Speaker 4: full link novel, how was that transition?
- 5:14Speaker 7: It was different? Like I was telling you earlier. When
- 5:18Speaker 7: I first started writing, my editor was like, girl, you
- 5:21Speaker 7: have to do punctuation. You just can't write the way
- 5:25Speaker 7: you want to write, and not that I had run
- 5:27Speaker 7: on sentences. But it was different because I really had
- 5:33Speaker 7: to sit and think because unlike my poetry, I can
- 5:37Speaker 7: write that right, but.
- 5:39Speaker 6: I had to stay in line with the stories.
- 5:41Speaker 7: So it was a whole different scheme to formatting and
- 5:45Speaker 7: writing everything right because different authors write different ways. Some freestyle,
- 5:50Speaker 7: some do outline, and I'm a mixture. So I had
- 5:56Speaker 7: my I had my concept in my outline of where
- 5:59Speaker 7: I wanted to go, but sometimes the scene because the
- 6:02Speaker 7: characters become very real in my head, they are real
- 6:05Speaker 7: to me, while I'm right took on a storyline of
- 6:09Speaker 7: their own because I had some characters that I didn't
- 6:12Speaker 7: even know were gonna be characters.
- 6:13Speaker 6: In here that became kind of meeting in the story.
- 6:18Speaker 2: So so can I can. I actually, do your characters
- 6:24Speaker 2: talk to you like yeah? AUTHI? Oh my goodness, they
- 6:29Speaker 2: didn't because.
- 6:30Speaker 7: Like when I'm right and I'd be like, oh no,
- 6:32Speaker 7: hadssa because that's one of my characters.
- 6:34Speaker 6: Oh, she definitely wouldn't do this. This is how Hattie
- 6:38Speaker 6: would think. This is how she would think. Oh and
- 6:41Speaker 6: this is how this is how happening because they're twins.
- 6:44Speaker 6: This is how she would react. So yeah, they.
- 6:48Speaker 7: Started talking and you you one of their heads. The
- 6:55Speaker 7: I think the most difficult ones may have been the
- 7:00Speaker 7: the male characters, you know, seeing that on female Okay.
- 7:04Speaker 4: Obvious, right, So.
- 7:07Speaker 6: I would have to call like my guy friends, Hey,
- 7:10Speaker 6: what you know, how does this sound?
- 7:12Speaker 7: You know, because I'm right here and I wanted to
- 7:14Speaker 7: be as close to factual from a male's perspective, okay
- 7:20Speaker 7: as I could get it, you know, because you know,
- 7:23Speaker 7: as a female, we might see it one way and
- 7:25Speaker 7: that is not how they would think or how they
- 7:27Speaker 7: would even react. Yeah, because one thing I was like,
- 7:31Speaker 7: he gonna do this and that, And when.
- 7:33Speaker 6: I talked to my guy friends, they were like girl, no, Now.
- 7:37Speaker 7: Lot of them react like that. I call from each
- 7:40Speaker 7: extreme to my little low key one to the ones
- 7:43Speaker 7: who would go one hundred.
- 7:44Speaker 1: And they're like nah.
- 7:45Speaker 6: And I was like, okay, this is in my mind
- 7:48Speaker 6: as a female.
- 7:50Speaker 4: Wow, because I hear a lot of authors say that
- 7:54Speaker 4: their characters are talking to them, and I'm like talking
- 7:57Speaker 4: them like you physically hear them.
- 8:00Speaker 2: And it's like yeah, like they're telling me this is
- 8:03Speaker 2: what I would do, Like, don't put that because that's
- 8:06Speaker 2: not me. So they really do that.
- 8:09Speaker 7: They do and and and thank God, like I told
- 8:13Speaker 7: you earlier that I'm able to write this because somebody would.
- 8:16Speaker 6: Think I was alluding to and if I thought saying,
- 8:18Speaker 6: hey this, I got voices. You know, I heard I
- 8:21Speaker 6: had talking to me for trees.
- 8:25Speaker 2: I woke up.
- 8:25Speaker 7: I would sleep one night and and and a lot
- 8:29Speaker 7: close to me at night. I think it's most creative.
- 8:31Speaker 7: And I woke up about eleven thirty and I wrote
- 8:34Speaker 7: to like two a m. Because I heard a scene
- 8:37Speaker 7: and I had to get up and write it.
- 8:40Speaker 2: I could.
- 8:41Speaker 6: I had to write it then in the middle of
- 8:43Speaker 6: the work week. All this I didn't care. I was like,
- 8:46Speaker 6: I gotta get up, I gotta write this now, as
- 8:49Speaker 6: I would lose it.
- 8:50Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 8:51Speaker 2: Someone says that characters have their own mind.
- 8:55Speaker 7: They do they're really they're they're people. They're people, canary people,
- 9:00Speaker 7: but they're people.
- 9:02Speaker 2: Oh my god, to make you get up and write.
- 9:05Speaker 6: I heard I heard her, because I guess I should preface.
- 9:10Speaker 7: I was having a writer's block on my scene, and
- 9:13Speaker 7: I was like, I've done everything to break this writer's block.
- 9:15Speaker 6: And I finally went to sleep, and then I heard.
- 9:19Speaker 6: I heard.
- 9:20Speaker 7: I heard having one talking because that's the main character,
- 9:24Speaker 7: one of the main characters. And I said, oh, now
- 9:26Speaker 7: I know what she's going to do. And I got
- 9:29Speaker 7: up and I wrote that scene in the book.
- 9:31Speaker 6: I wrote that chapter, so yeah, and when I read it,
- 9:36Speaker 6: I got up next day and I reread. I said,
- 9:38Speaker 6: this is fire.
- 9:39Speaker 4: So so okay, you talk about writer's block. I know
- 9:46Speaker 4: a lot of people get that. Let me ask you
- 9:48Speaker 4: a question.
- 9:49Speaker 2: What do you do two to get over it?
- 9:57Speaker 4: Do you starting up the project? Do you you like
- 10:01Speaker 4: listen to music? Like, how do you how do you
- 10:04Speaker 4: deal with writer's block?
- 10:05Speaker 7: Well, see, I like to write with like when I'm writing,
- 10:08Speaker 7: I like to write with music, so that that really
- 10:13Speaker 7: doesn't help me.
- 10:14Speaker 6: I try to go out and do something and if
- 10:17Speaker 6: that didn't work, It's like I had a huge writer's block.
- 10:19Speaker 7: It was. It was a huge writer's block cup back
- 10:23Speaker 7: in August, and so I've just laid down. I looked
- 10:29Speaker 7: at TikTok to find other authors to see what they did.
- 10:32Speaker 7: They said, well, watch a movie, watch something mindless. I
- 10:35Speaker 7: did that and I couldn't. And for me, I broke
- 10:38Speaker 7: my writer's block by sleeping. That's probably why. But I
- 10:43Speaker 7: went to sleep, and there it was. I had to
- 10:47Speaker 7: I had to turn everything off and unplugged. I had
- 10:50Speaker 7: to have complete silence. I went my room turned everything
- 10:54Speaker 7: off because I'm I'm a person a little no fact.
- 10:57Speaker 7: I like to sleep with TV. I have to hear
- 10:59Speaker 7: no so I had to just cut. I had to
- 11:04Speaker 7: disconnect from the world to save my writer's block.
- 11:09Speaker 4: Join the club of having to have the TV on
- 11:12Speaker 4: or some type of noise would.
- 11:18Speaker 2: If my house goes okay.
- 11:19Speaker 4: So like when the storm was going on down here
- 11:21Speaker 4: in Charleston, at first me and my baby were wait,
- 11:26Speaker 4: next thing, you know, the house went quiet.
- 11:29Speaker 7: I will.
- 11:29Speaker 4: I came straight up like this like, oh no, this
- 11:32Speaker 4: ain't about to happen, so I.
- 11:35Speaker 2: Have to have noise soon.
- 11:36Speaker 4: I thought it was weird, but even at work, and
- 11:40Speaker 4: you know, I work at a public library. Sometimes walk
- 11:44Speaker 4: around my headphones in because I gotta have some type
- 11:47Speaker 4: of noise.
- 11:48Speaker 6: Yeah, I do too. I have my my little blue
- 11:52Speaker 6: I keep putting my little bluetooth in because hr you
- 11:56Speaker 6: always buy yourself sectioned off. So I buy myself.
- 12:00Speaker 7: So I have my my stuff in my ears. I
- 12:02Speaker 7: can hear hear noise. I don't even care what it is,
- 12:05Speaker 7: because I have the time. I'm not even paying attention.
- 12:07Speaker 6: It's just the emotional support.
- 12:10Speaker 2: The emotion and the static of it.
- 12:13Speaker 6: The white noise, yes, man, the white ones.
- 12:16Speaker 4: That's what they call it, Gemini echos. So we're gonna
- 12:23Speaker 4: we're gonna put that book coming.
- 12:24Speaker 2: Back up again.
- 12:26Speaker 4: Tell us about this one, okay.
- 12:32Speaker 7: So it is about two sisters, identical twins, Havling in
- 12:37Speaker 7: Hadossa Cloud.
- 12:39Speaker 6: Now, Havling is more of a free, free, free spirit.
- 12:45Speaker 7: She's all about love and passion, and Hadssa is the
- 12:48Speaker 7: responsible one. Having's love life is what Rack wrecks the
- 12:54Speaker 7: havoc in the book and brings them into the situation
- 12:59Speaker 7: that they have to get out of us.
- 13:00Speaker 6: So it is a murder mystery.
- 13:04Speaker 7: So yeah, well, poetic my poetic license, poetic justice. One
- 13:14Speaker 7: of the characters who got caught off, who got killed off,
- 13:17Speaker 7: who he may have deserved it in a prior life.
- 13:24Speaker 4: Hold up, So are you telling us that possibly now,
- 13:28Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 13:29Speaker 2: I'm trying to get this vibe that this book is
- 13:32Speaker 2: linked to one of your previous.
- 13:34Speaker 6: Books and it could be flowing from.
- 13:40Speaker 4: From See now, I don't like stuff like that now
- 13:45Speaker 4: because that would make me go and try to find
- 13:47Speaker 4: this character.
- 13:48Speaker 2: In one of your other books.
- 13:49Speaker 7: Oh yeah, if you, if you, if you, if you
- 13:53Speaker 7: read and you read my poetry books, you'll go back
- 13:55Speaker 7: to a poem and you'll be like, oh, okay, but
- 14:01Speaker 7: but the care But like I said, it's it's a
- 14:05Speaker 7: couple of deaths in there. It's a couple of deaths
- 14:10Speaker 7: in there, but one is actually is a is a murder,
- 14:15Speaker 7: So that gets haling and hadassa wrapped up wrapped up
- 14:20Speaker 7: in that. But the but the echoes part, so vi
- 14:24Speaker 7: echoes is because what you do in your your president,
- 14:27Speaker 7: in your past always affect your presence. So she's in
- 14:30Speaker 7: she has two lovers she has to choose from, and
- 14:35Speaker 7: a past in the present and havling so mixed up
- 14:38Speaker 7: in that that when the murder happens, it brings everybody
- 14:44Speaker 7: her and her sister mainly have tests their bond, bringing
- 14:47Speaker 7: them into.
- 14:51Speaker 6: Into the murder.
- 14:51Speaker 5: I don't want to say too much, so in the romance,
- 15:02Speaker 5: romance and murder, yes, because you.
- 15:05Speaker 6: Know passion, it's a thin line between love and hate.
- 15:09Speaker 2: Right, Yes, and.
- 15:13Speaker 4: Okay, So this is now becoming a new uh, I
- 15:17Speaker 4: won't say new, it's coming back more stronger where they're
- 15:21Speaker 4: doing the seri serious mixing of genres. Before it was like, oh,
- 15:28Speaker 4: I'm gonna give you a little sprinkle. It's a little
- 15:29Speaker 4: sprinkle at the vibe I'm getting is I'm gonna give
- 15:32Speaker 4: you a whole lot of romance, and I'm gonna give
- 15:34Speaker 4: you a whole lot of murder, and we're gonna mix
- 15:36Speaker 4: it all up together.
- 15:38Speaker 2: Is that what you're doing?
- 15:40Speaker 6: Yes? And the characters, the characters they really have, they
- 15:49Speaker 6: had they you I think.
- 15:52Speaker 7: I don't want to say I'm pat myself, but I
- 15:54Speaker 7: think I did a good job of imagery because what
- 15:58Speaker 7: as I told you, when I do my book, I
- 16:00Speaker 7: have a panel I sent it out to.
- 16:03Speaker 6: I think three different people I have.
- 16:07Speaker 7: In different from different point of views read and everybody
- 16:11Speaker 7: has a different take on everything.
- 16:13Speaker 6: So yeah, they're they all look at it differently.
- 16:17Speaker 7: And it's just I love that as an author because
- 16:19Speaker 7: I'm like, you might like the character that's like one
- 16:22Speaker 7: of my favorites, and they're like, no, one of my
- 16:26Speaker 7: readers hates one of the characters, and I'm like, why
- 16:28Speaker 7: do you hate him like that? But that's how I
- 16:30Speaker 7: know I did a good job, because you actually have emotion,
- 16:34Speaker 7: because I think when you're right, you should be able
- 16:36Speaker 7: to pull that emotion out be like and then she's like, oh,
- 16:38Speaker 7: that girl is.
- 16:39Speaker 6: Dumb, and.
- 16:42Speaker 7: It's just it's an a ray. Everybody likes something different
- 16:45Speaker 7: that have that are on my panel that have read
- 16:48Speaker 7: the book.
- 16:49Speaker 4: See now this this is when I'm talking about having
- 16:52Speaker 4: me sitting up here telling the character in the book off,
- 16:54Speaker 4: you're so stupid, so stupid.
- 16:57Speaker 2: Yes, that's my type of thing, right.
- 17:01Speaker 6: And then I have a character he actually came out
- 17:06Speaker 6: of nowhere. I don't know where. He just appeared him
- 17:10Speaker 6: in his other half and they are like my favorite
- 17:14Speaker 6: because he reads you and the way he reads you
- 17:17Speaker 6: and talks to you, you can just hear him and
- 17:20Speaker 6: you can see him and you can picture him. He's
- 17:22Speaker 6: so real in my head. His name is Tatum. Tatum.
- 17:26Speaker 4: He just went to my question because I was about
- 17:27Speaker 4: to ask you who are your two favorite characters? So
- 17:30Speaker 4: we talking about Tatum and your next favorite character is.
- 17:39Speaker 6: Probably Tatum is my favorite.
- 17:42Speaker 7: Probably I would say Havelin, But Havelin because she's the
- 17:48Speaker 7: main character, and he is always bless her heart. She's
- 17:53Speaker 7: always in turmoil. She always in turmoil. She had she
- 18:02Speaker 7: wears what you call rosie glasses all the time and
- 18:07Speaker 7: it's like, girl, girl, wake up, wake up.
- 18:10Speaker 6: Up, what's wrong with you?
- 18:14Speaker 2: Oh my goodness.
- 18:15Speaker 4: So if she could beat somebody, yes, you know I
- 18:23Speaker 4: already skipped that part.
- 18:24Speaker 2: We know each other. If she can be somebody, who
- 18:27Speaker 2: would she be? Which?
- 18:30Speaker 4: If she could be any? So we did music last time?
- 18:36Speaker 2: Right?
- 18:36Speaker 7: No?
- 18:37Speaker 2: Did we did the music lass? No, we did.
- 18:39Speaker 6: We did movie stars last time.
- 18:42Speaker 2: Okay, so now let's do music. Who would she be.
- 18:49Speaker 6: In music?
- 18:51Speaker 4: So? How are you describing her in her love life?
- 18:54Speaker 4: I'm getting Monica or Mirrid your blood they have some
- 19:01Speaker 4: messy You married.
- 19:05Speaker 6: Mary J.
- 19:06Speaker 2: Do you think she would be Mary J.
- 19:11Speaker 6: Or either? Oh god, that girl was just in my jazz.
- 19:17Speaker 2: Ooh ooh not the bust the window out the cod jast.
- 19:21Speaker 7: No, that would be that would be HARDSSA always intermoils.
- 19:27Speaker 7: I'm just say Mary J. Because Mary J had that
- 19:30Speaker 7: that music that's like, why are you doing me? Like
- 19:32Speaker 7: this second grade love?
- 19:35Speaker 6: Yeah, I'm going down that Mary J.
- 19:38Speaker 4: Blish Oh oh she she she snored my married Chip Blige.
- 19:47Speaker 2: Snorter. That's what we call Mary J.
- 19:49Speaker 4: Blige and that song down here in Charleston, because yeah,
- 19:53Speaker 4: she was all over the place.
- 19:54Speaker 2: It's a beautiful song. But you can tell us she
- 19:58Speaker 2: was a little bit.
- 19:59Speaker 1: Wow.
- 20:00Speaker 4: Okay, now that's strong. So that means this character is
- 20:05Speaker 4: is wow, she can I ask, well she find love
- 20:09Speaker 4: at the end.
- 20:11Speaker 2: When she's fall in love.
- 20:13Speaker 6: This child is so confused.
- 20:19Speaker 7: Because she's torn between two people. And that's why may
- 20:22Speaker 7: be a different second book. I because her heart is torn.
- 20:30Speaker 6: And then and then and then and then her love
- 20:33Speaker 6: interests and Claire and Kai there are something else, both
- 20:37Speaker 6: of them or something else. And it's a scene in there.
- 20:40Speaker 6: It's a scene in there where you're like, girl, are
- 20:43Speaker 6: you crazy?
- 20:45Speaker 2: Oh?
- 20:46Speaker 1: Lord?
- 20:47Speaker 4: Okay, So since we're talking about scenes, which one was
- 20:52Speaker 4: the hardest to write?
- 20:54Speaker 7: The hardest to write for me was probably in chapter
- 21:00Speaker 7: sixteen or seventeen. It actually was it actually was a
- 21:03Speaker 7: death of a character.
- 21:04Speaker 6: It really, it really drained me because it was an
- 21:08Speaker 6: unexpected death and it wasn't it wasn't a murder, but
- 21:12Speaker 6: this death is pivotal in the plot with all of
- 21:16Speaker 6: the characters, and so it affects their future.
- 21:21Speaker 7: And so when you come into the book, everybody's past
- 21:25Speaker 7: the death, but you have to look back to see
- 21:27Speaker 7: why everybody's in that place.
- 21:30Speaker 6: But it's because of it.
- 21:32Speaker 7: Yeah, And so it was very it was very emotional
- 21:37Speaker 7: for me to write because when I wrote it and
- 21:40Speaker 7: the character that I that died, I actually cried when
- 21:44Speaker 7: I was crying when I was writing it, and I
- 21:47Speaker 7: actually had to get up and take a break after
- 21:51Speaker 7: I wrote that scene because I mean, he was really
- 21:54Speaker 7: a good characters he but the way he died it
- 21:59Speaker 7: was Yeah, and it affected all of them, It affected
- 22:04Speaker 7: all of their lives. Having Kai hadossa wow mm hmm, yeah.
- 22:10Speaker 2: Okay, that just hurt my feelings. Is I'm sorry you
- 22:14Speaker 2: had to cry.
- 22:17Speaker 4: See now you're making me really just want to just
- 22:20Speaker 4: but see now on half the week to see the
- 22:21Speaker 4: book doesn't come out to November first, and then I
- 22:24Speaker 4: gotta be to November first.
- 22:27Speaker 7: But you have.
- 22:29Speaker 2: Oh yeah, you guys, I didn't want to see it,
- 22:32Speaker 2: but she she started. I got a little bit of it.
- 22:34Speaker 1: So so.
- 22:42Speaker 4: We talked about the plot, we talked about the characters,
- 22:46Speaker 4: we talked about editing. Let's talk about this cover, because
- 22:51Speaker 4: off stage you showed us. You showed me something in
- 22:57Speaker 4: the cover that I would have never seen. So tell
- 23:00Speaker 4: us a little bit about.
- 23:01Speaker 2: Who created your cover, how important.
- 23:05Speaker 4: This is, and we already see how beautiful it is,
- 23:08Speaker 4: but tell us a little bit about this company.
- 23:11Speaker 7: So my graphic artist, his name is Richard Ruth and
- 23:15Speaker 7: he's with Graphic Media, and he created the cover. I
- 23:21Speaker 7: did the concept of the of the of the girls
- 23:25Speaker 7: because I had to develop that part, and I put
- 23:28Speaker 7: them specifically on a lake because I said the lake
- 23:31Speaker 7: is going to be pivotal. It's a pivotal part of
- 23:33Speaker 7: the book. But we always collaborate together. So if you
- 23:39Speaker 7: look on the cover, like by their cheeks, because they're
- 23:41Speaker 7: identical twins, you'll see the Gemini sign and then the
- 23:44Speaker 7: Gemini constellation is embedded within their faces because you know,
- 23:48Speaker 7: what a Gemini is is duality, and so you know
- 23:51Speaker 7: I'm poetic. So in my book, I still have my
- 23:54Speaker 7: high coups that sum.
- 23:57Speaker 6: Up the chapters. After you read the chapter, you get
- 24:00Speaker 6: little haiku.
- 24:00Speaker 7: So if you read the chapter and you forget instead
- 24:03Speaker 7: of going back, you can see the little haig cou
- 24:05Speaker 7: that'll kind of tell you, oh, yeah, this is what happened.
- 24:08Speaker 6: Without rereading the chapter unless you just want to.
- 24:11Speaker 7: But if you look closely, you can see the Gemini consolation.
- 24:15Speaker 7: And he embedded the geminis uh. I'm pointing to it,
- 24:18Speaker 7: like you can see, but the sign is right on
- 24:22Speaker 7: their cheeks, right in between the two of them to
- 24:24Speaker 7: connect them. So I wanted to have that embedded in
- 24:29Speaker 7: image in there is like a subliminal and I wonder
- 24:33Speaker 7: how many people would catch it.
- 24:34Speaker 6: I want to see how many people would catch it.
- 24:37Speaker 4: So you guys, I did not catch it, and she
- 24:39Speaker 4: would describing it to me. So I'm gonna try and
- 24:42Speaker 4: describe it to you guys. If you look where the
- 24:44Speaker 4: longest hair is, take your finger there and keep pulling out. Evidentally,
- 24:51Speaker 4: it's gonna pop out at you. And I see it
- 24:54Speaker 4: like clear clear, clear as dead, and.
- 24:59Speaker 2: I it's it's wild. Even even the font you did
- 25:06Speaker 2: flows with the the astrological feel of the cover.
- 25:14Speaker 6: That that that was all graphic media and Richard yeah, yeah,
- 25:22Speaker 6: I'm not that talented. I want it, I know what
- 25:26Speaker 6: I want it, but that's all him. He is, he
- 25:28Speaker 6: is fantastic graphic media.
- 25:31Speaker 4: Yes, well, we appreciate you for giving us this beautiful cover.
- 25:36Speaker 4: So I never asked you this question last time, SMA
- 25:39Speaker 4: at you this kind since we are an Impact Award winner,
- 25:44Speaker 4: two time best selling author.
- 25:48Speaker 2: What does literary success look like to you?
- 25:55Speaker 7: Well, to me, the success part is doing what I
- 26:01Speaker 7: love to do. I realize I love to do this
- 26:03Speaker 7: now and I like that people are receptive to my work.
- 26:09Speaker 7: So that's in my mind's if it's ten people, if
- 26:13Speaker 7: y'all are receptive, I love it because that's success to
- 26:16Speaker 7: me that you just reached, you reach somebody, you know,
- 26:20Speaker 7: I said there with the poetry and with the novel,
- 26:23Speaker 7: I'm hoping that it'll it'll take legs and then a run.
- 26:27Speaker 6: So this will be a different test. So I think
- 26:31Speaker 6: it's a success. I wrote the book.
- 26:35Speaker 2: Is this your first full length novel or oh my god, I.
- 26:41Speaker 6: Haven't written a story story since high school?
- 26:48Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 26:48Speaker 2: Oh wow, so you wow? This is a holy all
- 26:54Speaker 2: over again full circle.
- 26:56Speaker 7: Yes, yes, it's full circle. But this is the best
- 27:00Speaker 7: time in my life. Because kids are grown adult kids
- 27:05Speaker 7: by myself, so.
- 27:08Speaker 6: You know I can write this.
- 27:10Speaker 7: You know, God, God makes no mistakes. I always take
- 27:13Speaker 7: it back to that he makes no mistakes. So this
- 27:16Speaker 7: was my ordained time to do, to write, to put
- 27:19Speaker 7: the poetry out, to write, to do the novels. And
- 27:23Speaker 7: it's like I said, everything is seamless. So when it's seamless,
- 27:26Speaker 7: you know it's meant to be right right.
- 27:30Speaker 2: So November first, it's supposed to be out.
- 27:36Speaker 7: Right before the holidays. That is as if my editor,
- 27:41Speaker 7: I know you're watching, get it done. Yeah, but it's
- 27:51Speaker 7: November November definitely.
- 27:54Speaker 2: What are you going to do November first?
- 27:58Speaker 7: Well, actually I'm supposed to be traveling to Phoenix on
- 28:03Speaker 7: a second.
- 28:04Speaker 6: So I had that award, So.
- 28:08Speaker 2: Okay, so wow, I don't know.
- 28:13Speaker 6: I don't know.
- 28:14Speaker 7: I'll try to maybe. I'm I'm hoping that I'll start
- 28:19Speaker 7: reminding people that the book will be out. It'll be
- 28:22Speaker 7: on Barnes and Noble. If I started pre advertising trying
- 28:29Speaker 7: to advertise.
- 28:30Speaker 6: This is different, like I said, I this is different.
- 28:36Speaker 4: Yes, I did see your advertisement on Facebook, Like I said,
- 28:41Speaker 4: tag as much as you can.
- 28:43Speaker 2: When I see it, I share it to my audience.
- 28:46Speaker 4: So I am wishing you everything, but you should have
- 28:52Speaker 4: plaud yourself because you did it.
- 28:55Speaker 6: I know I had baby number three.
- 28:57Speaker 2: Girl, I'm gonna a lot a lot of.
- 29:01Speaker 4: You did it because I remember last time you were
- 29:03Speaker 4: talking about it and you did it byby number three.
- 29:06Speaker 6: Mm hmm, I'm gonna have four.
- 29:07Speaker 1: So I was just.
- 29:12Speaker 2: Maybe number four gonna be.
- 29:15Speaker 4: A poetry book or another full fiction.
- 29:19Speaker 6: No, actually, this one is gonna be more of a
- 29:22Speaker 6: uh it's more of a.
- 29:26Speaker 7: More of a fiction sci fi well not a fantasy.
- 29:31Speaker 7: So this character has already been talking to me. The
- 29:35Speaker 7: name of the book is Cinnamon Blades, and Blades is
- 29:38Speaker 7: B L A I A C. Because it's gonna be
- 29:40Speaker 7: based out She's in the value of Louisiana. So it's
- 29:44Speaker 7: a spiritual, supernatural thriller. So this is like a preteen
- 29:49Speaker 7: I'm giving all the preface of a book because she's
- 29:50Speaker 7: raised by her eclectic grandmother and great grandmother because her
- 29:54Speaker 7: mother's expired, and so during the events of her life,
- 30:01Speaker 7: she kind of she gets into an accident and she
- 30:04Speaker 7: starts getting a sight where she can see and she
- 30:09Speaker 7: runs across a view. A voodoo priestess, a voodoo priestess
- 30:13Speaker 7: in her town, and all of this wraps up into
- 30:16Speaker 7: her mother's death and dealing with her grandmother and her
- 30:20Speaker 7: great grandmother.
- 30:21Speaker 6: So it's already in my head.
- 30:24Speaker 7: I've already broke like one chapter, but I had to
- 30:27Speaker 7: get that out so I wouldn't forget. Yeah, so it's
- 30:30Speaker 7: I don't know how to describe it, but feeling in Louisa.
- 30:36Speaker 2: I'm feeling like some Eves Voyu type thing.
- 30:40Speaker 7: Maybe, yeah, but it's yeah, it's based in the Bayou
- 30:46Speaker 7: and the time period the late seventies, early eighties. Okay,
- 30:52Speaker 7: so in a small town. So yeah, it's Cinnamon herself
- 30:57Speaker 7: is very She's a collected because she can't help me
- 31:01Speaker 7: to be eclected by how I'm gonna write her, because
- 31:05Speaker 7: she's being raised by her grandmother and her great grandmama,
- 31:09Speaker 7: her big mama. And yeah, and I already had the
- 31:14Speaker 7: names picked out of the characters. And Delaney, that's the name.
- 31:18Speaker 7: Remember Delaney, because that's the one who's gonna be the
- 31:21Speaker 7: voodoo priests that deals with the magic.
- 31:24Speaker 6: Voodoo. I don't know what you sam.
- 31:28Speaker 2: What the black magic.
- 31:30Speaker 4: I think that is what they call her.
- 31:32Speaker 6: Mm hmm.
- 31:33Speaker 2: I think that's what Santa.
- 31:35Speaker 6: Ria in the Caribbean. But yeah, so Delaney's her name.
- 31:42Speaker 7: That when the names come in my head, I already
- 31:44Speaker 7: see the characters of Delaney's her name. Okay, right, yeah,
- 31:52Speaker 7: this is I don't even know what the I don't
- 31:55Speaker 7: even know how to base it.
- 31:56Speaker 6: I don't, I don't know what it's called. It's just
- 31:58Speaker 6: gonna it's gonna be good.
- 32:02Speaker 2: My attention. And I normally don't read scie FIY and
- 32:07Speaker 2: I don't.
- 32:08Speaker 7: I don't know if it's called side fact because it's
- 32:10Speaker 7: actually based it's going to be based on a time period.
- 32:12Speaker 7: Like I said, it's either the late seventies or early eighties,
- 32:16Speaker 7: but mainly in the seventies from the way I've been
- 32:18Speaker 7: writing that and with her, because I've written out the
- 32:23Speaker 7: first chapter and started on the second. But I had
- 32:26Speaker 7: to hop back to like they're there to haling in
- 32:31Speaker 7: Hadassa and finish them off.
- 32:35Speaker 4: Oh yeah, because it was not trying to be out
- 32:37Speaker 4: do to have another book coming in front of them.
- 32:39Speaker 2: It was not trying to hear that. No. No.
- 32:43Speaker 7: But but you know, I keep in touch with a
- 32:45Speaker 7: lot of different authors now because you know, it's so
- 32:49Speaker 7: it's so great to meet all the different authors and.
- 32:54Speaker 6: I don't know if you heard the author Peyton Banks.
- 32:57Speaker 6: She's a USA bestselling author.
- 32:59Speaker 7: I keep with her, and so she was like you
- 33:03Speaker 7: because she writes like books like puts like puts them
- 33:06Speaker 7: out and I'm.
- 33:07Speaker 6: Like, how'd you do that? Which is like, well, I
- 33:09Speaker 6: go from one to the other. She's like, you should
- 33:10Speaker 6: try where you don't lose your ideas.
- 33:13Speaker 7: And so that did help me because now I really
- 33:16Speaker 7: have that that beginning to send them in blaze, and
- 33:22Speaker 7: it's there, so I'm not gonna lose it because I
- 33:24Speaker 7: went ahead and did that and did my little outline
- 33:27Speaker 7: and I know, and I did my character creations and
- 33:30Speaker 7: names and everything, and.
- 33:31Speaker 6: So that helped.
- 33:33Speaker 7: So I tell all authors it's not competition. We should
- 33:37Speaker 7: all talk to each other to help each other. Because
- 33:39Speaker 7: you're one of your pointers may help me, and one
- 33:42Speaker 7: of my pointers may help you because I'm not shy
- 33:45Speaker 7: about sharing my knowledge. Then you.
- 33:50Speaker 2: Please say that again.
- 33:51Speaker 4: I really dislike when authors compete, or really anybody competes
- 33:58Speaker 4: with each other, because there's so much out here, right,
- 34:04Speaker 4: so much out here. Just I mean, you may have
- 34:10Speaker 4: this part, you may have this part. Can you tell
- 34:12Speaker 4: me how you did your part? So I can tell
- 34:14Speaker 4: you how I did my part, and we all gonna
- 34:17Speaker 4: eat together at the same table.
- 34:20Speaker 7: Right because I can't take from you and you can't
- 34:23Speaker 7: take from me, because we're two unique individuals. All I'm
- 34:26Speaker 7: doing is sharing an idea, like I'm telling you two
- 34:29Speaker 7: plus two is four or you tell me three plus
- 34:32Speaker 7: one equals four. Oh, I didn't know it, you know,
- 34:35Speaker 7: I didn't think about it like that. But that's not
- 34:37Speaker 7: taken from you, and it's not you know, it's not
- 34:41Speaker 7: taken from you to do that at all, because everybody
- 34:44Speaker 7: gets to something different, especially creatives.
- 34:47Speaker 6: We all think differently.
- 34:50Speaker 4: All ye, yes, somebody said that part. They say it
- 34:55Speaker 4: again for the people in the back. There's this one
- 34:59Speaker 4: publishing co Benied that I adore, and the name is
- 35:04Speaker 4: The Love Publications. A lot of them are romance office.
- 35:10Speaker 4: There's no competition and they all support each other. This
- 35:16Speaker 4: one has a book coming out, and then the next
- 35:18Speaker 4: day another one has a book coming out.
- 35:20Speaker 2: But you don't see them going like this. You see them, Hey,
- 35:23Speaker 2: my book, sister did this or this sister or and
- 35:28Speaker 2: then theism. I think there's a dude in it too.
- 35:32Speaker 2: I think there's one guy in the whole group. But
- 35:34Speaker 2: I love that because they support each other, right, And I.
- 35:38Speaker 4: Always tell people, we are all in this together. There's
- 35:41Speaker 4: no way that you could feel that you're going to
- 35:46Speaker 4: do this by yourself. We are all in this together. Yeah,
- 35:49Speaker 4: it's all support. We are all in this together.
- 35:54Speaker 6: But it's enough.
- 35:55Speaker 7: It's enough out there where everybody has their own audience, because,
- 36:00Speaker 7: like I said, just because you're giving me tips, that
- 36:02Speaker 7: mean that your reader is never just gonna leave you. No,
- 36:07Speaker 7: they're gonna stay with you. And then they picked up
- 36:09Speaker 7: another author you do. So yeah, it's I mean, it's
- 36:13Speaker 7: room for everybody I've seen. I hate to say I
- 36:16Speaker 7: love TikTok. If anybody knows me, I love TikTok because
- 36:19Speaker 7: TikTok is just awesome. I met all kind of booktalkers, readers,
- 36:24Speaker 7: authors of different genres that I started following an author
- 36:29Speaker 7: and I actually had the inboxing because he's writing a
- 36:33Speaker 7: LGBT vampire love mystery store.
- 36:37Speaker 6: I said, what, But.
- 36:42Speaker 7: Because he has people following him. That may not be
- 36:45Speaker 7: your cup of tea, but it's somebody's cup of tea.
- 36:47Speaker 7: So I'm like, I just I just love all of
- 36:50Speaker 7: the different authors and how everybody's how you know you
- 36:54Speaker 7: can support each.
- 36:55Speaker 6: Other, and everybody can band together and help.
- 36:58Speaker 7: Each other to just you know, get ideas, because like
- 37:01Speaker 7: I said, your imagination is not my imagination.
- 37:04Speaker 4: Thing go things go talking about book talk, I still
- 37:09Speaker 4: on book talk talk about so many screenshots of books
- 37:13Speaker 4: off a book talk to it's not funny. So I
- 37:16Speaker 4: started putting up books that I read. I'll be sitting
- 37:18Speaker 4: up there in the middle night, i can't sleep. Oh
- 37:20Speaker 4: that's a good one.
- 37:22Speaker 2: Oh that's good.
- 37:24Speaker 6: Then there's channels on there where I follow. I follow
- 37:29Speaker 6: one lady.
- 37:29Speaker 7: I can't think her name, but she reads books so
- 37:32Speaker 7: like she was reading, Oh my gosh, the Alla Davis's book,
- 37:37Speaker 7: and so you can pick up like she she'll read
- 37:40Speaker 7: a book like a week and.
- 37:41Speaker 6: If you don't have to have downtime.
- 37:43Speaker 7: Sometimes I just listen just to hear, you know, just
- 37:46Speaker 7: to relax, just to hear. And I follow her and
- 37:50Speaker 7: I don't think she's the author. I've met voice actresses
- 37:54Speaker 7: on there because.
- 37:55Speaker 6: I need one for the audible book. I met all
- 37:59Speaker 6: kinds of Arthur coaches. Did you say audio book, yes,
- 38:07Speaker 6: because have one that DOCTA have to have audio.
- 38:11Speaker 2: Home? Are you going to have the audio books that? Okay,
- 38:16Speaker 2: so I love audiobooks. I love them. I love them.
- 38:19Speaker 2: I love them.
- 38:19Speaker 4: I'll be at work and I always pray to God
- 38:22Speaker 4: that somebody like sometime I use my chord. If I'm
- 38:26Speaker 4: at my main computer, I'm like, Lord, please don't let
- 38:29Speaker 4: nobody tap me, and this thing comes out, because if
- 38:32Speaker 4: they hear what I'm.
- 38:33Speaker 2: Listening to, I'm in trouble.
- 38:38Speaker 4: You do you think you use like one voice, one
- 38:46Speaker 4: actress for both of your voices, or do you believe
- 38:50Speaker 4: in the dual voice system.
- 38:53Speaker 7: I wanted to do a voice, but the voice actors
- 38:57Speaker 7: that I'm talking to her voice it's just so calmon
- 39:01Speaker 7: and relaxing. She probably could read all of the characters
- 39:05Speaker 7: with emphasis. So yeah, So that's after the editing part.
- 39:11Speaker 7: I'm gonna get the physical book out and then the
- 39:13Speaker 7: audio book. Well, I did find a neat feature on
- 39:17Speaker 7: when I was writing, which I am so non technical.
- 39:21Speaker 7: When I was writing work, the updated ones you can
- 39:23Speaker 7: read aloud. So I read my book aloud back to myself,
- 39:28Speaker 7: and that's how I decided that, oh I got to
- 39:31Speaker 7: get this an audio you know, and feature and updated, uh,
- 39:37Speaker 7: because I write my books and.
- 39:38Speaker 6: Words okay and read out loud and it'll read the
- 39:43Speaker 6: manuscript out loud. I'm giving you a hand for while
- 39:47Speaker 6: you're at work.
- 39:49Speaker 2: WHOA see you shouldn't tell me that.
- 39:52Speaker 7: Oh you go up there, go to the review and
- 39:56Speaker 7: it'll have a button and it'll play it out loud,
- 39:58Speaker 7: and you can choose the speed of how fast it
- 40:01Speaker 7: reads the read the text the document back to you.
- 40:06Speaker 7: I don't know about the voice because mine is a
- 40:08Speaker 7: female voice. But it's great because when I write my chapters,
- 40:13Speaker 7: I reread it.
- 40:14Speaker 6: I let her reread it.
- 40:17Speaker 7: So if if it's something that a word is missing
- 40:22Speaker 7: or or is the pronunciation's funny, I'm like, oh, let me.
- 40:26Speaker 6: Go back and stop right here and look and try
- 40:30Speaker 6: to do my editing. Hi, Joe, I know she's looking,
- 40:35Speaker 6: So I try. But you know, I'm not that I'm
- 40:38Speaker 6: not that technical on the editing.
- 40:41Speaker 2: Somebody is saying it says dictate. I'm gonna look for that.
- 40:46Speaker 6: Yeah, it it reads it back. I I have with
- 40:50Speaker 6: this novel. I have used it. I use it religiously
- 40:54Speaker 6: all the time.
- 40:56Speaker 2: So now we're coming to the end.
- 40:59Speaker 4: But we need to know how to follel you so
- 41:01Speaker 4: we can be there when the book drops and we
- 41:04Speaker 4: can find all the information on the books, so tell
- 41:08Speaker 4: us give us that rundown.
- 41:10Speaker 6: Okay.
- 41:11Speaker 7: You can find me on Instagram at that reel, Miss
- 41:15Speaker 7: Moore and it's thha real, Miss m Z Moore, and
- 41:21Speaker 7: then on Facebook, LinkedIn, link treet and TikTok. I'm very simple,
- 41:27Speaker 7: Marsine and Moore, you can find me like that on
- 41:31Speaker 7: all of those platforms, and Barnes and Noble on Marsine
- 41:36Speaker 7: and more so.
- 41:38Speaker 4: Before we leave, one more time, the name of the book,
- 41:42Speaker 4: when it will be out, and everything we need to
- 41:45Speaker 4: know about it.
