- 0:04Daniel Moore: People can get to a point where they get numb to the gospel of God, and that is a sad thing to say.
- 0:11Daniel Moore: But a lot of people play games with God until their time runs out.
- 0:15Daniel Moore: I have been there and I have done that also, but one of these days, reality is going to knock at our door.
- 0:23Daniel Moore: It could be tonight, it could be tomorrow.
- 0:26Daniel Moore: None of us knows.
- 0:28Daniel Moore: Only God knows.
- 0:29Daniel Moore: We could be sitting here in good health, but God could still take us out in an instant.
- 0:35Daniel Moore: Would we be ready?
- 0:37Daniel Moore: Would you be ready this week?

- 2:04Daniel Moore: Well, this week we're going to take a little bit of a different route with our episode.
- 2:10Daniel Moore: It's a little bit of an interesting subject that a lot of people just really don't want to talk about, but you know what the reality of heaven and hell is actually here.
- 2:20Daniel Moore: It's a real place.
- 2:22Daniel Moore: Both of them are, and all of us have a choice to make as we live in this life Now.
- 2:27Daniel Moore: My dad was a old-time Pentecostal fiery preacher and one of the favorite things that he liked to talk about was hell and redemption.
- 2:36Daniel Moore: And so this week, as I do this episode, this is a little bit of a nod to my dad.
- 2:41Daniel Moore: He passed away back in 2004.
- 2:44Daniel Moore: As he had cancer, he was 55 years old.
- 2:53Daniel Moore: He's in heaven with Jesus at this point and I pray that he looks down and he's proud of everything that I'm doing here as I endeavor to do this episode this week and every week here on Connecting the Gap, and so, without further ado, let's go ahead and take a trip to hell.
- 3:05Daniel Moore: Well, I want to share with y'all this week a very sober subject.
- 3:23Daniel Moore: It's a subject that really isn't talked about very much.
- 3:27Daniel Moore: It might even be a little bit of a flashback to being old school, a nod to the way I grew up.
- 3:33Daniel Moore: This may sound like a judgmental discussion today, but believe me, it is done out of love and just to make it clear, I'm teaching to the choir.
- 3:44Daniel Moore: I need this message as much as anyone.
- 3:48Daniel Moore: This isn't really a very popular subject that anyone wants to talk about, but this week we're going to be talking about a trip to hell.
- 3:57Daniel Moore: I'm sure there are Christians listening to this episode this week.
- 4:00Daniel Moore: Some of you may not be Christians.
- 4:02Daniel Moore: Some of you may have never had a relationship with God in your life, ever since you were born.
- 4:08Daniel Moore: Some of you may go to church each week and just warm a pew.
- 4:12Daniel Moore: You know that's the crazy thing about claiming to be a Christian.
- 4:17Daniel Moore: We can dedicate ourselves to go to church every week, but yet we are just going through the motions.
- 4:23Daniel Moore: Is that you?
- 4:25Daniel Moore: I've been there and I pray to never be there ever again.
- 4:30Daniel Moore: Some of you may go to church to, you know, just get a feel-good message, one that isn't convicting, one that makes you feel like an accomplished believer when you walk out the door and into your Monday.
- 4:42Daniel Moore: But the truth is, the last thing you want to happen, as a created being on this earth, is for someone to tickle your ear in church and you die lost.
- 4:53Daniel Moore: Our text isn't out of Hebrews this week, but there is a scripture in Hebrews that says it is appointed unto men to die once, and after that, the judgment.
- 5:02Daniel Moore: You know, we all have an appointment someday.
- 5:05Daniel Moore: Most appointments we make in life we don't really have to keep.
- 5:09Daniel Moore: Things can come up and those appointments, well, they can be canceled or they can be moved.
- 5:15Daniel Moore: But this one appointment with God, it's not like that.
- 5:20Daniel Moore: It's a one-time shot.
- 5:23Daniel Moore: We play the gamble of life each day until God's appointed time for us comes to go.
- 5:29Daniel Moore: There are no do-overs.
- 5:31Daniel Moore: The Bible says that it is appointed unto us once to die.
- 5:36Daniel Moore: Now, at this point, let's go ahead and step on some toes here.
- 5:41Daniel Moore: Mine were stepped on at one time for this very reason.
- 5:45Daniel Moore: Some people go to church just to say that they go.
- 5:48Daniel Moore: They listen to the message, they sing some great worship and pray with the rest.
- 5:53Daniel Moore: During prayer for the sick, they then get up and go back out into the world.
- 5:58Daniel Moore: No more changed than when they went to church in the first place.
- 6:01Daniel Moore: Their hearts are cold, they are in a routine or a rut, so to speak, and they feel that they are a-okay.
- 6:10Daniel Moore: If they were to be asked about that morning sermon, they probably couldn't even say what it was about.
- 6:17Daniel Moore: But you know, serving God is a serious business.
- 6:21Daniel Moore: I love every listener I have on this podcast.
- 6:25Daniel Moore: The last thing I want to see is any one of you to have that appointment and not make it to heaven.
- 6:31Daniel Moore: I would feel I haven't done my part.
- 6:35Daniel Moore: As I stated earlier, hell isn't a pleasant subject.
- 6:38Daniel Moore: Most people don't want to hear about it.
- 6:41Daniel Moore: They want to hear about other things.
- 6:43Daniel Moore: But you know, sometimes we need to get a little more sober in our thinking and we do need to think about where we are headed into our eternity.
- 6:53Daniel Moore: The truth of the matter is, none of us have any guarantee of the next moment or tomorrow.
- 6:59Daniel Moore: If you haven't stopped to think about it, people every moment, every second, if you haven't stopped to think about it, people every moment, every second are dying somewhere and going to hell.
- 7:11Daniel Moore: Those of us that are right with God do we take the time to share?
- 7:17Daniel Moore: Is it too much of a burden for us to take that on?
- 7:24Daniel Moore: If you watch the news today, people are dying every day.
- 7:26Daniel Moore: Many of them these days are below 50 years old, from all kinds of causes.
- 7:29Daniel Moore: Do you ever wonder how many of them were ready?
- 7:31Daniel Moore: If you have no doubt about your relationship with God, you know where you will go.
- 7:38Daniel Moore: If you aren't sure, you need to change that.
- 7:42Daniel Moore: You need to know, without a doubt, that you are gods.
- 7:48Daniel Moore: Now some people they sometimes mock and make jokes about hell.
- 7:51Daniel Moore: A lot of people have said crazy things to me about hell, just basically candy-coating it.
- 7:58Daniel Moore: But hell is a dangerous, serious matter.
- 8:01Daniel Moore: It is not something to joke about.
- 8:04Daniel Moore: The thing to remember is that hell is a very real place.
- 8:09Daniel Moore: If you don't think it is well, just take any moment in your life where you were moments from dying and you knew it.
- 8:18Daniel Moore: You know most people are scared to die at that moment because they don't have any guarantee where they are going.
- 8:25Daniel Moore: They are definitely scared to die if it means going to hell.
- 8:30Daniel Moore: If you are saved, you know where you are going to go.
- 8:35Daniel Moore: You know, a lot of people have questions in their life.
- 8:38Daniel Moore: They may think am I really ready or not?
- 8:42Daniel Moore: Am I really honestly serving God?
- 8:45Daniel Moore: There are a lot of sincere people in this world.
- 8:48Daniel Moore: They really think they sincerely are ready to meet God, but there are also a lot of sincere people that are in hell.
- 8:57Daniel Moore: What they sincerely thought was right in their life wasn't.
- 9:04Daniel Moore: We're going to take our text this week from Luke 16, and we're going to start with verse 19.
- 9:09Daniel Moore: Now, a lot of you have probably read this and thought you understood it, but some of you may have read it, skimmed it and that's all that you've done.
- 9:17Daniel Moore: This week we're going to read this scripture and I want to share with you a little bit about hell.
- 9:24Daniel Moore: In Luke 16, starting with verse 19, it says there was a rich man who was clothed in purple and fine linen and who feasted sumptuously every day, and at his gate was laid a poor man named Lazarus, covered with sores, who desired to be fed with what fell from the rich man's table.
- 9:45Daniel Moore: Moreover, even the dogs came and licked his sores.
- 9:49Daniel Moore: The poor man died and was carried by the angels to Abraham's side.
- 9:54Daniel Moore: The rich man also died and was buried, and in Hades or hell.
- 10:13Daniel Moore: It doesn't say that he rested a while and then went on a long journey.
- 10:17Daniel Moore: It says he died, was buried and then went to hell.
- 10:24Daniel Moore: When we die, the Bible tells us that we will go to heaven or hell.
- 10:27Daniel Moore: When we die, our spirit is going to go.
- 10:32Daniel Moore: There is no waiting time.
- 10:34Daniel Moore: We will go Back to verse 22,.
- 10:39Daniel Moore: It says the poor man died and was carried by the angels to Abraham's side.
- 10:43Daniel Moore: The rich man also died and was carried by the angels to Abraham's side.
- 10:45Daniel Moore: The rich man also died and was buried.
- 10:46Daniel Moore: And in Hades, being in torment, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham far off and Lazarus at his side, and he called out Father Abraham, have mercy on me and send Lazarus to dip the end of his finger in water and cool my tongue, for I am in anguish in this flame.
- 11:05Daniel Moore: But Abraham said Child, remember that you in your lifetime received your good things and Lazarus, in like manner, bad things.
- 11:16Daniel Moore: But now he is comforted here and you are in anguish.
- 11:20Daniel Moore: And besides all this, between us and you a great chasm has been fixed in order that those who would pass from here to you may not be able and none may cross from there to us.
- 11:33Daniel Moore: And he said Then I beg you, father, to send him to my father's house, for I have five brothers, so that he may warn them lest they also come into this place of torment.
- 11:46Daniel Moore: But Abraham said they have Moses and the prophets, let them hear them.
- 11:52Daniel Moore: And he said no, father Abraham, but if someone goes to them from the dead, they will repent.
- 11:59Daniel Moore: Now notice here in this scripture, this man knows what it means to repent.
- 12:05Daniel Moore: He believes in repentance because now he is in a place that he didn't want to go.
- 12:10Daniel Moore: Now he is sold completely on repentance because he says that if they would send him back, his brothers would repent.
- 12:19Daniel Moore: Verse 31 says he said to him If know, if you mention hell these days, a lot of people will laugh about it and mock it.
- 12:37Daniel Moore: They act like it is a fictitious place, that they will never have to go.
- 12:41Daniel Moore: A lot of the reason for that is because so many people these days have candy-coated hell.
- 12:47Daniel Moore: A lot of people would say that there is no such place at all.
- 12:51Daniel Moore: It's just a dark, lonely place.
- 12:53Daniel Moore: Why would an ever-loving God send someone to a place called hell?
- 12:59Daniel Moore: Have you ever heard that question or asked it yourself?
- 13:03Daniel Moore: Well, the answer to that question is that God doesn't send us there.
- 13:08Daniel Moore: We do From the very beginning of time.
- 13:12Daniel Moore: God gave man a choice.
- 13:14Daniel Moore: He gave us a freedom to choose.
- 13:17Daniel Moore: We ourselves choose to live the life we live and therefore, if we don't live according to God's word and believe on Jesus and the price he paid for us, we go where we choose to go.
- 13:30Daniel Moore: The Bible tells us that if we choose to continue to live our life in sin, we then make the choice to go to hell.
- 13:36Daniel Moore: It is a place made for Satan and his demons and those that do not believe here.
- 13:43Daniel Moore: In these scriptures it says that in hell he was in torment.
- 13:47Daniel Moore: In other versions of the Bible it says torments.
- 13:51Daniel Moore: What those are, we don't exactly know and I personally don't want to find out.
- 13:58Daniel Moore: But what we get from this story is that there was a rich man that had everything that this life could desire.
- 14:05Daniel Moore: He had money, he had the finest, slickest camels, he had jewelry, a very nice home and he had plenty to eat.
- 14:15Daniel Moore: He had everything a person could desire from this life, but when he died it wasn't what he really needed.
- 14:25Daniel Moore: I know people that have had homes, barns and lots of worldly riches, but they wanted bigger barns and bigger homes, and so they tore them down and built what they wanted.
- 14:35Daniel Moore: But then God called on them and said Thou fool, this day, your soul is required of thee.
- 14:41Daniel Moore: At that moment, it didn't matter what they had acquired here on earth.
- 14:45Daniel Moore: None of that mattered anymore, as they were whisked away into eternity.
- 14:50Daniel Moore: We may have everything here that we could ever want, but is your soul right with God when that moment comes, that is required of us.
- 15:00Daniel Moore: Does it really matter what we have down here?
- 15:03Daniel Moore: It's fine to have things I mean don't get me wrong but it is more important to have our hearts right with God so that when he calls us home, we are ready.
- 15:16Daniel Moore: I can tell you what I think hell is.
- 15:17Daniel Moore: I think it is a place of torment and anguish.
- 15:21Daniel Moore: I believe that if a man had an addiction to drugs, he will want it more than he has ever wanted it.
- 15:28Daniel Moore: I believe that if a person was consumed with an addiction to alcohol, they will want it more than they have ever wanted it.
- 15:35Daniel Moore: If it was pornography, that was your hookup.
- 15:38Daniel Moore: I believe you will want it more than you have ever wanted it in your entire life.
- 15:43Daniel Moore: But you can't get it.
- 15:45Daniel Moore: I believe that an addiction that you had in life that totally destroyed your relationship with God, will create a lustful hunger in you that you cannot feed.
- 15:55Daniel Moore: In hell you won't get those luxuries.
- 15:58Daniel Moore: It will always be just out of reach, and that lust for the addiction will grow until it torments you because there is no satisfaction.
- 16:07Daniel Moore: Even Christians fight with these addictions to this day.
- 16:13Daniel Moore: It's something that needs to be addressed.
- 16:14Daniel Moore: You may think you can control those things here on your own, but the truth is they will consume you.
- 16:20Daniel Moore: God is the only way to be granted that freedom from those strongholds in your life, and you must accept that from Him before it is too late.
- 16:29Daniel Moore: We have to get more concerned for the things of God, make it a habit to go to church, read our Bible and pray.
- 16:37Daniel Moore: You may say well, I can walk my Christian life without all of that.
- 16:42Daniel Moore: Well, I say that if you truly love God and give your life over to Him, you will make it a high priority to be in His presence as much as you can, learning more about Him every moment of your life and allowing Him to guide your steps in all that you do.
- 16:58Daniel Moore: It is a life choice that we all must make.
- 17:02Daniel Moore: Our priorities have to come into alignment with His, allowing Him to change us from the inside out.
- 17:08Daniel Moore: If you love someone, you will pay attention to them.
- 17:12Daniel Moore: It may not send you to hell by not going to church and doing the things the Bible encourages us to do, but our Savior died for us and that's a price to pay that is much bigger than we could ever be.
- 17:26Daniel Moore: The least we can do is be in His presence as much as we possibly can.
- 17:32Daniel Moore: The first thing we want to talk about is that hell is a real place.
- 17:36Daniel Moore: Hell is a place that causes severe and persistent distress of the body and mind, a source of pain and harassment.
- 17:45Daniel Moore: It's not going to be a place that is very joyful.
- 17:48Daniel Moore: It is going to be a place of misery.
- 17:51Daniel Moore: When you die and if you go to hell, you will be very aware and conscious of what is going on around you.
- 17:58Daniel Moore: Whether if it is heaven or hell, you will know where you are at.
- 18:02Daniel Moore: We read that here in the story of the rich man and Lazarus.
- 18:07Daniel Moore: It is a place that you will be familiar with.
- 18:12Daniel Moore: The Bible speaks of the wrath of God more than frequently over 600 times than it does of His love, which is a little over 300 times, hundred times than it does of His love, which is a little over three hundred times.
- 18:24Daniel Moore: The Bible says that God is love.
- 18:29Daniel Moore: If someone loves a person, it wouldn't be quite fair if that person didn't share about the bad things or the wrath to come.
- 18:33Daniel Moore: If you love a person, you want to do everything in your power to save them from wrath.
- 18:36Daniel Moore: It wouldn't be fair if God didn't warn us of the wrath to come if we don't change our lives.
- 18:43Daniel Moore: He loves us too much to let us go down that path.
- 18:47Daniel Moore: Unknowingly.
- 18:47Daniel Moore: God spoke more of wrath than he did on love.
- 18:53Daniel Moore: One thing I always want my listeners to know I love all of you and I appreciate you listening to every episode.
- 19:00Daniel Moore: I consider you to be my friends and I don't want you to be left in the dark about your eternity.
- 19:05Daniel Moore: I want you to know the truth.
- 19:07Daniel Moore: You know it's like the man that was driving down a country road and ahead of him a storm had washed the bridge out, but he didn't know it.
- 19:15Daniel Moore: As he was coming up on the broken bridge, a local ran out to him and stopped him and said Sir, you can't go any further.
- 19:30Daniel Moore: The bridge is out Now.
- 19:30Daniel Moore: That is a man of love to take the time to warn someone.
- 19:31Daniel Moore: What if he had not done it and just let the man keep driving until he crashed?
- 19:35Daniel Moore: The man could have died and went to eternity.
- 19:39Daniel Moore: This is how Christ was.
- 19:41Daniel Moore: He wanted us to know that there is a place that we should shun and it's a place called hell.
- 19:49Daniel Moore: Now there's two words, one in the Hebrew sheol and in the Greek hades, used in the New Testament with the meaning of the underworld or hell.
- 19:58Daniel Moore: Now, these two words are not the hell of the final punishment or the grave for the body.
- 20:04Daniel Moore: It is speaking of a hell of torment.
- 20:07Daniel Moore: It is the place of torment where the lost are tormented day after day and night after night.
- 20:13Daniel Moore: Eventually, as stated in Revelation, hades will be cast into the lake of fire for an eternity after the final white throne judgment, when all of those that do not have their names in the Lamb's Book of Life will be judged.
- 20:28Daniel Moore: So this week I'd like to share with you a little bit out of the scriptures as we read what hell is like.
- 20:34Daniel Moore: Now we have read here in the Bible that the rich man had died and was buried and gone to hell.
- 20:41Daniel Moore: The Bible says that he lifted his eyes and looked up.
- 20:44Daniel Moore: So the first thing to know about hell is this tells us that hell is a place where we can see when we go there.
- 20:52Daniel Moore: Because here is a rich man that went to hell and he looked up seeing the place that he was in went to hell and he looked up seeing the place that he was in.
- 21:03Daniel Moore: You know, a lot of people say that when we die it is all over with and nothing else is going to happen.
- 21:06Daniel Moore: There was a lady one time that was on the news that in her will when she died, she wanted her body to be cremated, put into a jar and then loaded onto an airplane and they flew her over the ocean, took the lid off and spread her ashes all over the water because she did not want God to find her.
- 21:24Daniel Moore: But I want you to know this week that's not the way it's going to happen.
- 21:28Daniel Moore: When you die and if you go to hell, you'll be able to see, just like you are seeing at this moment.
- 21:34Daniel Moore: You're going to be able to see everything around you.
- 21:38Daniel Moore: It's not going to be a place where if you think that if you go there it is all over with, I don't see that.
- 21:45Daniel Moore: I see here that the Bible says we will be aware and will see.
- 21:49Daniel Moore: It says in verse 23,.
- 21:52Daniel Moore: In hell, he lifted up his eyes and he sees Abraham.
- 21:56Daniel Moore: This tells me that hell is going to be a place that a person will truly see, and I can say that there will probably be things there to see that we wouldn't want to see, things that will drive a person miserable and insane.
- 22:11Daniel Moore: Have you ever looked at something and it just drove you nuts?
- 22:15Daniel Moore: Well, I can guarantee that if a person ends up going to hell, well, I can guarantee that if a person ends up going to hell, it'll be a place that you will see those kinds of things and more.
- 22:24Daniel Moore: A person may want to close their eyes so they can't see it, but I think that even if the eyes were closed, it wouldn't make a difference.
- 22:32Daniel Moore: The vision of what was seen is still there.
- 22:35Daniel Moore: Hell is a place that a person will be able to see.
- 22:46Daniel Moore: The second thing to know about hell is that hell is a place where a person will be able to feel.
- 22:48Daniel Moore: In verse 23 it says and in Hades, being in torments, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham far off and Lazarus at his side, and he called out Father Abraham, have mercy on me and send Lazarus to dip the end of his finger in water and cool my tongue, for I am in anguish in this flame.
- 23:06Daniel Moore: This tells us that hell is a place where we will be able to feel.
- 23:11Daniel Moore: It isn't a place that will be really nice and cool and comfortable.
- 23:16Daniel Moore: As I read that word torments, it really stuck with me.
- 23:20Daniel Moore: I always read the scripture that he was in torment and went on.
- 23:25Daniel Moore: But that isn't what it says.
- 23:27Daniel Moore: It says torments.
- 23:30Daniel Moore: There will be all kinds of different torments, one of them here.
- 23:33Daniel Moore: He is in flames.
- 23:35Daniel Moore: He can feel the heat coming off of them.
- 23:39Daniel Moore: The Bible tells us that hell is hot.
- 23:41Daniel Moore: We don't have to drill a hole down into the ground and find that out, as the myth goes.
- 23:46Daniel Moore: Some people may listen to this and they may say well, you don't need to scare this into someone and you know you're right.
- 23:56Daniel Moore: I don't think anyone needs to scare anyone into anything, but when people need to hear the truth and then they hear it it will take care of itself.
- 24:05Daniel Moore: Here is a man that is in hell, in torment, wanting to soothe himself because he is in so much pain.
- 24:12Daniel Moore: Some of you have burnt yourself by putting your hand over a fire or maybe in boiling water.
- 24:17Daniel Moore: From what I recall, when that has happened to me, it doesn't feel very good at all.
- 24:23Daniel Moore: You can touch something really hot and release it really quickly and immediately.
- 24:28Daniel Moore: You can be released from that pain.
- 24:30Daniel Moore: If we don't burn ourselves Immediately, we think about how hot that was.
- 24:37Daniel Moore: A story was told once by a preacher, a true story, about a man that was driving down the road in his truck.
- 24:42Daniel Moore: He had a chainsaw in the back of his truck.
- 24:45Daniel Moore: He had been cutting wood.
- 24:46Daniel Moore: He came into the intersection and as he started to stop his brakes went out.
- 24:51Daniel Moore: He continued into the intersection and a semi T-boned him really hard and his truck burst into flames.
- 24:55Daniel Moore: A police officer was close by and arrived immediately.
- 24:57Daniel Moore: I t-boned him really hard and his truck burst into flames.
- 25:00Daniel Moore: A police officer was close by and arrived immediately.
- 25:03Daniel Moore: He ran to the burning truck and the man was screaming at him to get him out of the truck.
- 25:08Daniel Moore: His legs had been pinned under the steering wheel with the impact of the accident.
- 25:13Daniel Moore: The man looked at the officer with flames all around him and said Sir, please help me, get me out of this truck, take the chainsaw, fire it up and cut off my legs so I can be freed.
- 25:25Daniel Moore: I don't want to stay in this truck and die in these flames that are around me.
- 25:28Daniel Moore: The policeman couldn't do that because the flames were too hot.
- 25:33Daniel Moore: The man then looked at the officer and said Well then, officer, just take your gun and shoot me and kill me, because I can't take these flames.
- 25:42Daniel Moore: I don't want to burn alive and watch these flames snatch me away.
- 25:45Daniel Moore: Well, of course the officer couldn't do that either, but the man continued to beg and plead for him to take his life because he couldn't stand to be in the pain of that flame and fire.
- 25:56Daniel Moore: The officer said that all he could do was stand there and watch that man burn and hear his flesh singe, crackle and pop.
- 26:04Daniel Moore: You know, I've seen it happen many times in my previous career as a firefighter.
- 26:09Daniel Moore: I've seen many accidents where people's lives have been snuffed out, not even knowing it.
- 26:16Daniel Moore: I was on duty one day when we got a call that a car had hit a van head-on and that it had burst into flames.
- 26:22Daniel Moore: We jumped into the fire trucks and when we arrived on scene we came up on a horrific scene.
- 26:29Daniel Moore: A Ford Mustang had hit a minivan head-on.
- 26:33Daniel Moore: The Ford Mustang had burst into flames.
- 26:36Daniel Moore: Some stand-byys had got some chains and pulled the van off of the car because they were stuck together and there was a pregnant woman in the driver's seat of the van.
- 26:46Daniel Moore: The fire had gotten into the ditch and set the whole hillside on fire.
- 26:51Daniel Moore: As we started to assess the scene, we come to realize that the woman was pregnant in the van and from the impact the gear shifter had stabbed her into her stomach.
- 27:03Daniel Moore: So we didn't know if the baby was going to be lost or not.
- 27:06Daniel Moore: So we had to med-flight her to the hospital In the car.
- 27:10Daniel Moore: When the flames were put out, we found out that there was a 16-year-old boy driving that car and he had his 15-year-old girlfriend in the passenger seat.
- 27:19Daniel Moore: They were stuck in that car.
- 27:22Daniel Moore: They couldn't get out.
- 27:23Daniel Moore: The boy had been scalped and it was laying in the back of the car.
- 27:27Daniel Moore: The girl was in the seat with her feet up like she was trying to kick out the windshield, and people that were standing around was telling us that as the fire was rolling they could hear the kids screaming to get out of the car, but no one could get close enough to get them out.
- 27:41Daniel Moore: You know, I hope both of those teenagers were ready to meet God.
- 27:45Daniel Moore: If they weren't and could come back today, they could tell you what a horrible place that hell is to be.
- 27:52Daniel Moore: The fire chief that I had at the time retired after that call.
- 27:57Daniel Moore: He had a couple of kids that were the exact age of those teenagers in that Mustang.
- 28:02Daniel Moore: It really bothered him, and he'd been a firefighter for many, many years.
- 28:09Daniel Moore: You know, the greatest believers today are those that are in hell.
- 28:12Daniel Moore: If they could come back, they would tell you Hell is real, the fire is real, the flames are there, the torment is there and you are going to feel it.
- 28:22Daniel Moore: But yet some people are still going to reject it and make jokes about it.
- 28:27Daniel Moore: But here's a man that believes in hell today.
- 28:30Daniel Moore: He knows the flames are hot because he felt them for himself.
- 28:34Daniel Moore: God put this story in the Bible for a reason to show us what hell is all about.
- 28:40Daniel Moore: It's not a fun city and it's not a game that we are going to play.
- 28:45Daniel Moore: It's a place that, when you get there, reality will knock at your door and you will realize that hell is a place that is real.
- 28:53Daniel Moore: We're going to take a break here for a moment.
- 28:56Daniel Moore: When we come back, we're going to continue this discussion this week as we take a trip to hell.
- 29:01Daniel Moore: I ain't taking any day at a time and I don't care what they tell me, but it's me.
- 29:17chataboutjesus.com: The famous Sydney Harbour Bridge in Australia recently turned 80 years old.
- 29:21chataboutjesus.com: There were numerous celebrations, including 11 80-year-old musicians who climbed to the top of the bridge to perform.
- 29:29chataboutjesus.com: At the time this bridge was built, it was said to have solved the divide between the different communities in Sydney.
- 29:36chataboutjesus.com: Did you know?
- 29:37chataboutjesus.com: The Bible says there is a great divide between you and God.
- 29:40chataboutjesus.com: The prophet Isaiah wrote your sins have separated you from your God and it's like a wide chasm, with you and your sins on one side and God and His holiness on the other.
- 29:53chataboutjesus.com: The only bridge that can span that gap is the cross of Jesus Christ.
- 29:58chataboutjesus.com: If you would like to know how you can begin a relationship with Jesus Christ and bridge the gap between yourself and God, please call 1-888-NEED-HIM or chat with us at chataboutjesuscom.
- 30:12chataboutjesus.com: We'll see you next time.
- 30:24chataboutjesus.com: Welcome back to this week's episode of Connecting the Gap.
- 30:41Daniel Moore: I'm Daniel Moore.
- 30:48Daniel Moore: Thank you guys for joining us this week's episode of Connecting the Gap.
- 30:57Daniel Moore: I'm Daniel Moore.
- 30:58Daniel Moore: Thank you guys for joining us this week and if you've been with us for the first half talking about a little bit of a sober subject this week that a lot of people don't like to talk about, satan has really fought me as I've put this episode together.
- 31:12Daniel Moore: I will tell you that for sure.
- 31:13Daniel Moore: But this week we are taking a trip to hell.
- 31:23Daniel Moore: Well, the third thing that I want you to know about hell is that it is a place where you will remember.
- 31:26Daniel Moore: In verse 25, it says but Abraham said Child, remember that you in your lifetime received your good things and Lazarus and like men are bad things, and now he is comforted here and you are in anguish.
- 31:38Daniel Moore: That verse says remember in your lifetime.
- 31:42Daniel Moore: This says that if a person dies and goes to hell, they'll remember everything that they've done.
- 31:48Daniel Moore: A person can steal, lie, cheat and do any other bad sin you can think of and maybe get by with it here on earth, but when they die and go to hell, they'll remember everything that they have done.
- 32:00Daniel Moore: One of these days, if you die and go to hell, you'll remember the time that I released this podcast on this date and you listened to it and you rejected it and went the other way.
- 32:12Daniel Moore: If you've done someone wrong and never asked forgiveness, you'll remember that.
- 32:17Daniel Moore: You'll remember all of the opportunities that you had to make your life right throughout your lifetime and you chose not to.
- 32:25Daniel Moore: It's a choice.
- 32:27Daniel Moore: There won't be any shortcuts.
- 32:29Daniel Moore: It's a one-way street with no turnoffs, unless you accept Christ into your heart and start moving the opposite direction.
- 32:37Daniel Moore: You know, when I do something wrong to someone, I want to do my best to go to that person and ask for forgiveness.
- 32:44Daniel Moore: Now, I'm not at all perfect.
- 32:46Daniel Moore: I'm not ever going to ever sit here and say that I am, but the effort has to be made to make the wrong right.
- 32:52Daniel Moore: I don't want anything in my way to keep me from missing heaven.
- 32:57Daniel Moore: I might be a little too strong in my beliefs or too radical in some cases, but I'd rather be a little bit too much than not enough and miss it.
- 33:07Daniel Moore: I don't believe we can ever go too far overboard serving God, but my intention is to make it to heaven whatever it takes, and I want to make it.
- 33:19Daniel Moore: The next thing we want to talk about, about hell.
- 33:21Daniel Moore: Today, hell is a place of remembrance.
- 33:23Daniel Moore: There is an old book called Hell is Real.
- 33:27Daniel Moore: It was written, as seen, by John Bunyan and it was printed by MA Dowell, which is out of Oklahoma.
- 33:33Daniel Moore: This book was about a person that was going to commit suicide and they went to the point of starting to take their life, and God sent an angel down to this person and took this person to heaven and hell and showed them what it is all about.
- 33:47Daniel Moore: As we mentioned, the scripture talking about us remembering when in hell, this person went to hell and was interviewing people that had went there and was interviewing people that had went there.
- 34:01Daniel Moore: The book says we then passed on further, among the small senses of unmixed sorrows, and saw two wretched souls tormented by the friend who, without ceasing, plunged them into the liquid fire, burning brimstone, while they, at the same time, accused and cursed each other.
- 34:15Daniel Moore: One of them said to his tormented fellow sufferer O cursed be thy face that I ever set eyes on you, and cursed each other.
- 34:23Daniel Moore: One of them said to his tormented fellow sufferer O cursed be thy face that I ever set eyes on you.
- 34:28Daniel Moore: My misery is due to you.
- 34:29Daniel Moore: I may thank you for this, for it was you who ensnared me thus.
- 34:35Daniel Moore: It was your covetousness and cheating and your oppression and grinding of the poor that brought me hither.
- 34:38Daniel Moore: If you had set me a good example, as you did the ill one, I might have been in heaven, and there I might have been as happy as I am, miserable.
- 34:46Daniel Moore: But, o, wretch that I was, my following in your steps has made me in this wretched state and ruined me forever.
- 34:54Daniel Moore: O that I had never seen your face or you had never been born to do my soul that wrong that you have done.
- 35:01Daniel Moore: You know, just think about it.
- 35:04Daniel Moore: If you end up in a place called hell and someone walks up to you and says it was you, you are the reason that I am here tonight, and you'll remember the time that you led them astray and falsely led them down the wrong path.
- 35:21Daniel Moore: Well, as this book continued, he moved on to interview another.
- 35:24Daniel Moore: He asked him what is it like for you to be here?
- 35:27Daniel Moore: To that the man replied my pains are such as can admit to no relief.
- 35:33Daniel Moore: No, not for one small moment.
- 35:36Daniel Moore: But by this question you have asked, I do perceive you as a stranger here, and may you ever be so.
- 35:43Daniel Moore: Had I but a last hope still remaining, how I would kneel and cry and pray forever to be redeemed from hence.
- 35:52Daniel Moore: He remembered the things he had done in his life and now he wished for just one moment that he could ask God, lord, forgive me, I'm sorry for what I have done.
- 36:04Daniel Moore: If only he could do it.
- 36:06Daniel Moore: But no, he can't do that because he is in a place of no return.
- 36:13Daniel Moore: If you were to die tonight and you were not right with God, you will remember.
- 36:18Daniel Moore: If you were to die tonight and you were not right with God, you will remember.
- 36:22Daniel Moore: You will remember every sermon that has been preached and every time conviction settled on your soul and it was ignored.
- 36:30Daniel Moore: Hell is not a place to be, but many people will be there.
- 36:33Daniel Moore: Hell is also a place of separation.
- 36:35Daniel Moore: Verse 26 says this.
- 36:38Daniel Moore: And besides all this, between us and you a great chasm has been fixed in order that those who would pass from here to you may not be able, and none may cross from there to us.
- 36:52Daniel Moore: The very second you die, and if you are lost, you will realize that you are on a trip of no return.
- 36:58Daniel Moore: You can beg and plead with God and say God, have mercy on me.
- 37:03Daniel Moore: I made a huge mistake.
- 37:05Daniel Moore: But no, that's not the way it is going to be.
- 37:09Daniel Moore: If we all get at least one chance, we've had a million to make it right with God.
- 37:15Daniel Moore: The worst person that will go to hell is the person that sits in church week after week, year after year, hearing the word of God and rejecting it.
- 37:25Daniel Moore: The second we die, we are going on a trip, a one-way ticket.
- 37:30Daniel Moore: Here is the man that went to hell and now he cannot come back because there was a goal fixed there between him and God.
- 37:39Daniel Moore: God has made it very clear in the Bible if we die, lost, there is only one place we will go.
- 37:45Daniel Moore: Yes, god is a loving God.
- 37:48Daniel Moore: Therefore, he does not want you to go to a place called hell.
- 37:51Daniel Moore: God wants us to know what awaits there, if that is our choice.
- 37:56Daniel Moore: Hell is also a place of concern.
- 38:00Daniel Moore: In verse 28, it says for I have five brothers so that he may warn them lest they also come into this place of torment.
- 38:10Daniel Moore: Hell is a place of concern.
- 38:14Daniel Moore: There are a lot of preachers and Christians in hell today that wish they would have done things right.
- 38:19Daniel Moore: They went off and started compromising, started cutting corners here and there and, before they knew it, they ended up in a place called hell.
- 38:27Daniel Moore: It's a sad thing, but there are a lot of preachers and Christians today that will take a lot of people with them.
- 38:34Daniel Moore: They don't have the guts or the backbone to stand up and tell the truth.
- 38:39Daniel Moore: You know, I would be upset today if someone came to me and preached me a candy-coated doctrine.
- 38:45Daniel Moore: I was born and raised a Pentecostal.
- 38:48Daniel Moore: The foundational fundamentals of biblical doctrine that I was taught was the truth and as long as I have followed those to the best of my ability, I have never had any trouble in it, unless I rejected God when I gave my life to Christ.
- 39:02Daniel Moore: I totally sold out to Him 100%.
- 39:05Daniel Moore: I myself, I am concerned about people and where their souls are headed.
- 39:10Daniel Moore: That's why I've been doing this podcast for almost four years now.
- 39:15Daniel Moore: Most Christians seem to never have any time to go share the gospel with the lost only a few people.
- 39:21Daniel Moore: If we ever need to get a burden for lost souls and to be concerned for them, it is today.
- 39:27Daniel Moore: If that man could come back today from hell, he would be the best soul winner that we have ever seen.
- 39:35Daniel Moore: If he could in any way, he would set this world on fire for God, because he knows what is there.
- 39:42Daniel Moore: Most people get serious with God when they are on their deathbed.
- 39:46Daniel Moore: It's a time of reflection about life, what they did and what they didn't do.
- 39:52Daniel Moore: It creates a time that they must make a choice.
- 39:55Daniel Moore: But that is only if they have that last opportunity, as some don't.
- 40:02Daniel Moore: People can get to a point where they get numb to the gospel of God, and that is a sad thing to say.
- 40:07Daniel Moore: But a lot of people play games with God until their time runs out.
- 40:11Daniel Moore: I have been there and I have done it myself also.
- 40:15Daniel Moore: But one of these days, reality is going to knock at our door.
- 40:19Daniel Moore: It could be tonight, it could be tomorrow.
- 40:23Daniel Moore: None of us know, only God knows.
- 40:26Daniel Moore: We could be sitting here in good health, but God could still take us out in an instant.
- 40:32Daniel Moore: Would we be ready?
- 40:34Daniel Moore: Would you be ready, or would you be like this man?
- 40:38Daniel Moore: You know it is a sober question that we all must ask ourselves.
- 40:43Daniel Moore: You may say, well, that will not happen to me.
- 40:47Daniel Moore: Well, the Bible says in Proverbs 27, 1,.
- 40:51Daniel Moore: Boast not thyself of tomorrow, for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth.
- 40:56Daniel Moore: I know that I may not live to see the sun rise in the morning, but I do know I want my life to be ready.
- 41:05Daniel Moore: If this man could have come back from hell, he would have worked his best to get his five brothers saved.
- 41:11Daniel Moore: He has a concern that no one has ever seen before.
- 41:15Daniel Moore: No one has ever seen before.
- 41:19Daniel Moore: Hell is also a final death.
- 41:20Daniel Moore: In Revelation 20, verses 14-15, it says and death and hell were cast into the lake of fire.
- 41:28Daniel Moore: This is the second death, and whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
- 41:35Daniel Moore: This is a final death.
- 41:38Daniel Moore: Hell is forever.
- 41:41Daniel Moore: A man one time asked a professor how he would explain eternity.
- 41:44Daniel Moore: The professor said well, it's been explained many ways, but if a bird would pick up the smallest pebble from the face of the earth, fly up into space and place it and come back and get another pe pebble and keep doing that repetitively, over and over until the earth would disappear, eternity would have just started.
- 42:06Daniel Moore: Hell is forever.
- 42:09Daniel Moore: Hell is not a place that we should ever want to go.
- 42:12Daniel Moore: Here is a man that has experienced everything about it.
- 42:17Daniel Moore: You know I pray this week that I have shared with you a reminder of the reward we have when we live for Christ.
- 42:23Daniel Moore: This is not a popular subject, but I don't want to see anyone end up increasing the population in hell.
- 42:30Daniel Moore: God has made a place for us, called heaven, and it's free for the asking.
- 42:36Daniel Moore: In John, chapter 14, verses 2 through 6, it says In my Father's house are many mansions.
- 42:42Daniel Moore: If it were not so, I would have told you I go to prepare a place for you, and if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to myself.
- 42:52Daniel Moore: That where I am there, you may be also.
- 42:57Daniel Moore: Heaven is described in the Bible as a place of indescribable beauty and glory.
- 43:02Daniel Moore: In Revelation 21.4, it says 1 Corinthians 2.9 says Note what no eye has seen, what no ear has heard and what no human mind has conceived the things God has prepared for those who love Him.
- 43:25Daniel Moore: And in Revelation 21.18-21, it says pure as glass.
- 43:34Daniel Moore: The foundations of the city walls were decorated with every kind of precious stone.
- 43:39Daniel Moore: The twelve gates were twelve pearls, each gate made of a single pearl.
- 43:44Daniel Moore: The great street of the city was of gold as pure as transparent glass.
- 43:51Daniel Moore: Heaven is described as a place of perfect peace, joy and unity with God.
- 43:57Daniel Moore: It is a place where there is no pain, suffering or death and where believers will dwell in the presence of God for eternity.
- 44:05Daniel Moore: God made man to be a servant, and man is going to do that.
- 44:10Daniel Moore: He is going to serve God or he is going to serve Satan.
- 44:15Daniel Moore: And when we serve God or Satan, we serve them 100%.
- 44:19Daniel Moore: You can't do it 50-50.
- 44:22Daniel Moore: Matthew 6, 24-26 states that no man can serve two masters, as they will either hate the one and love the other, or hold on to one and despise the other.
- 44:33Daniel Moore: It isn't possible to go both ways.
- 44:36Daniel Moore: If God could come right now to take us home, would you be ready to go?
