- 0:27Lord, I pray in the name of Jesus that you will give us
- 0:30healing. God.
- 0:31Heal our broken bodies. Father, heal our minds, God, our
- 0:36hurts and our hang ups and our habits.
- 0:38God, I pray for freedom. God, let the Spirit come.
- 0:42Let the Holy Spirit fill us today.
- 0:45God, I pray that you will endue us from power, from on high.
- 0:49Father, I pray that you'll help us Lord to take up our cross and
- 0:53to follow you. To put our hand to the plow God
- 0:56and not look back. I pray God we count the cost.
- 1:00Lord, I pray in the name of Jesus that many of the captives
- 1:03will be set free today. God, I pray that today is the
- 1:06day of salvation for many. Lord, I pray that you will be
- 1:10exalted above the nations, that Lord, it'll be you.
- 1:14Father, that's the first thing on our mind and the last thing
- 1:17on our mind, and it's what we are always meditating upon is
- 1:21you. Jesus Christ.
- 1:23You are preeminent. You are the supremacy, you are
- 1:28everything, You are our everything.
- 1:30You are life and you are breath and you are the way and the
- 1:33truth and the life. And yes, God, we come to you in
- 1:37spirit and in truth. Yes, we worship you God, with
- 1:41all of our heart, with all of our mind, with all of our
- 1:44strength. Lord, I pray that you help us to
- 1:47love our neighbors as ourselves. I pray that you give us the
- 1:50contentment, God, for the food and clothing that you've already
- 1:53provided. God.
- 1:54I pray for joy, Lord, to spring up.
- 1:57I pray against the suicidal spirit God.
- 2:00I pray in the name of Jesus that you'll give us victory over the
- 2:05flesh. God, I pray that we will not
- 2:08succumb to all of the woes of this life God and all of the
- 2:13trickery. God and the deception, Father, I
- 2:15pray in the name of Jesus that you will help us to break free
- 2:19from all of the chains, to break free from all of the cares and
- 2:24the tares and the briars, God that come up and try to choke
- 2:28out the faith. Lord, I pray that faith
- 2:30increases today. Lord, I pray that we have the
- 2:33faith of a mustard seed. I pray God Almighty that Jesus
- 2:37is what we put our faith into our whole heart, into our old
- 2:42self, into. Lord, he is lovely and he is
- 2:45beautiful. Yes, Jesus, we love you.
- 2:48Thank you. Eyes like fire and hair like
- 2:51wool, the voice of the many multitudes.
- 2:54Thank you Jesus, that you are our everything.
- 2:57We love you, King Jesus, and it's in your holy and precious
- 3:00name that I pray. Amen.
- 3:05Let's start in verse one. Then drew near unto him all the
- 3:10publicans and sinners to hear him.
- 3:14So look how he draws this crowd. And this is the crowd who's
- 3:18trying to trap them to. And the Pharisees and the
- 3:21scribes murmured, saying, this man receives sinners and eats
- 3:25with them. So here we can see that Jesus
- 3:30was a friend of sinners. Isn't that amazing that he loved
- 3:34us even yet while we were still sinning?
- 3:37And we would do well to make sure that we always keep our
- 3:42story in mind, our testimony in mind.
- 3:45And we need to remember where we came from.
- 3:49And we also need to remember who we belong to.
- 3:53And we need to keep those two points always in the forefront
- 3:57of our mind, that we were once sinners, we were once lost, we
- 4:01were once destitute and in need of a Savior.
- 4:06And we cannot look down the nose at those that are in that
- 4:10current state. Now, there are many who we think
- 4:13are going to be there in the end, but they will not be.
- 4:16They're just the suit and tie, ravenous wolves, the false
- 4:20teachers. And then you can see that there
- 4:22are many now that are strung out, there are many now that are
- 4:26addicted to the flesh, and they're addicted to this life,
- 4:31and they will be there with us because they see their need for
- 4:35the repentance. Let's keep moving. 3 And he
- 4:40spoke this parable unto them, saying, 4 What man of you having
- 4:45100 sheep, if you lose, one of them does not leave the 99 in
- 4:50the wilderness, and goes after that which is lost, until he
- 4:54finds it. 5 And when he has found it, he lays it on his
- 5:00shoulders, rejoicing. 6 And when he comes home, he calls together
- 5:05his friends and neighbors, saying unto them, Rejoice with
- 5:08me, for I have found my sheep which was lost.
- 5:12Seven, I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven
- 5:18over 1 Sinner that repents more than over the 99 just persons
- 5:24which need no repentance. So here you can see that God
- 5:29pursues us. You might, you might feel 1000
- 5:34miles away from God, but he's only one step back because He's
- 5:38been pursuing you, friend. He knows who belongs to him.
- 5:44He makes it about his business to come and to find us in the
- 5:49pig pen, to come and to find us in our mess.
- 5:53And all we need to do is turn from sin and turn to the Savior
- 6:01to receive our salvation, to receive our healing and to walk
- 6:05in that bridal identity. And you can see the 99 that are
- 6:11sitting on their blessed assurance.
- 6:14They're the they are the Pew warmers.
- 6:17They are the ones that attend the church and they are the ones
- 6:20that have their name on a roll. And they are the ones who think
- 6:25that all of their outward religious expression is what
- 6:29saves them. And it is not.
- 6:33It is a relationship with God Almighty through His Son Jesus
- 6:37Christ that is day-to-day to day to hour to hour to hour to
- 6:42moment by moment by moment to second by second by second to
- 6:47heartbeat by heartbeat by heartbeat from breath to breath
- 6:50to breath for the rest of your life, friend, from now until you
- 6:55take your last breath and you will be ushered into paradise.
- 7:01You will be ushered into the presence of God, praise God,
- 7:05Hallelujah. 11 And he said a certain man had will go back to
- 7:118 either what woman, having 10 pieces of silver, if she lose
- 7:17one piece, does not light a candle and sweep the house and
- 7:22seek diligently until she finds it Here he's going to tell us
- 7:28another parable of what it is like and how he sees us friends.
- 7:359 And when she has found it, she called her friends and her
- 7:38neighbors together, saying, Rejoice with me, for I have
- 7:41found the peace which I had lost. 10 Likewise I say unto
- 7:45you, There is joy in the presence of the angels of God
- 7:49over 1 Sinner that repents. You can see our need for
- 7:54repentance. You can see the God desires for
- 7:58us to get right with Him, to put off the old man, to put off the
- 8:03sin that is entangling us, and to return back to our proper
- 8:10place, which is holy. Because He is holy, we can walk
- 8:18in the light, we can put on the full armor of God, We can be
- 8:24washed in the blood and be able to stand and to gird up our
- 8:30loins, and to stand in the holy east of holy places, and to dine
- 8:35and Sup with our Father and to commune with Him.
- 8:39And we do not have to hide. Whenever we repent, we need to
- 8:43confess all the things that are entangling us.
- 8:47We need to consecrate the temple.
- 8:49Get rid of all of the evil. Do not delight in the the evil,
- 8:53but love the truth. Friends, put your face, fix your
- 8:57eyes upon Jesus today, look at him, look upon him and be saved
- 9:05today. Friends, confess that Jesus is
- 9:09Lord. Believe in your heart that God
- 9:13raised him from the dead and do not let this world have the last
- 9:19say over your life. Do not be in love with this
- 9:23world, but fall in love with Jesus and everything else will
- 9:27flow out of that relationship. Friends, we need the repentance.
- 9:3311 And he said, A certain man had two sons, 12 And the younger
- 9:38of them said to his father, Father, give me the portion of
- 9:41goods that falls to me. And he divided unto them his
- 9:46living. 13 And not many days after, the younger son gathered
- 9:50all together, and took his journey into a far country, and
- 9:54there wasted his substance with riotous living.
- 9:58So you can see here that whenever we squander the
- 10:01inheritance that God has for for us, his elect, we can see that
- 10:07he desires to give us the good things.
- 10:11And He desires to put us in heavenly places and to see us
- 10:17with Him and to make us more than conquerors and to give us
- 10:21the peace that comes from a relationship with Him and to
- 10:25give us the joy that springs out of contentment what He is
- 10:29desires to give us. A lot of times we trade that
- 10:33like Esau, we trade our birthright for a bowl of soup.
- 10:37Friends, because we're thinking of the natural, we're thinking
- 10:41of the physical, we're thinking of the here and the now.
- 10:43We think that this is all that there is and we would give up
- 10:47eternity just to have a little pleasure and a little bit of
- 10:51security down here. And we can reveal our inner
- 10:56motives. Friends, when we chase the
- 10:57dollar, whenever we are chasing Mammon and he's going to tell us
- 11:01what it all results to. 14 And when he had spent all, there
- 11:10arose a mighty famine in that land, and he began to be in
- 11:15want. That is our state when we are
- 11:18disconnected from God Almighty, when we turn our backs on Jesus
- 11:24Christ, whenever we have tasted in the goodness of God and we
- 11:31revolt and turn away from it. Whenever we renounce our faith,
- 11:36whenever we walk away from the faith, there is nothing but
- 11:41want. 15 And he went and joined himself to a citizen of that
- 11:46country, and he sent him into his fields to feed swine.
- 11:51As a Jew. This would have been the lowest
- 11:53of the lowest of the lowest places to be in the same pigpen
- 12:01as the swine, and this Jew would have seen just how far he had
- 12:08fallen in this moment. 16 and he would feign have filled his
- 12:14belly with the husks that the swine did eat, and no man gave
- 12:19unto him. We can see that Satan's plan is
- 12:25to steal, kill, and destroy. He cares nothing for us.
- 12:28He masquerades himself, and he tries to get us to believe that
- 12:37he has the power to give what he promises.
- 12:44We can see that Satan is a deceiver and he tries to trick
- 12:50us into believing that all of the good we can have.
- 12:57But what happens is the longer we go along with them, the more
- 13:02and more destitute we become. And you can see it here.
- 13:08He started out with this riotous living.
- 13:11I'm sure he was eating high on the hog.
- 13:14He was living in the penthouse. He was at the top of his game
- 13:19and threw a lot of sequences of events.
- 13:23He found himself in the pig pen with an empty belly.
- 13:26And that's where we find ourselves anytime we turn our
- 13:29backs on God. And it never starts out that
- 13:33way. It seems fun and games in the
- 13:35beginning. It seems as if God's holding out
- 13:38on us in the beginning. And what happens as we go on, we
- 13:42see that when we were in our Father's house, it was much
- 13:46better. And He gives us all of the gifts
- 13:50at the appropriate time when we're able to steward them.
- 13:54And He doesn't just keep lavishing us with all of the
- 13:57riches of heaven that we cannot steward well.
- 14:00And those very blessed things that God gives to us becomes the
- 14:05entanglement because we are not stewarding them well.
- 14:10And God knows when to give His children the gifts that they can
- 14:14steward, the gifts that they can actually enjoy.
- 14:19So if you feel like God is holding out on you, perhaps you
- 14:22need to start with what He's already given you.
- 14:25Start taking care of the things that He's already entrusted to
- 14:29you, friend, and then if you're faithful with little, you'll be
- 14:33faithful with much. 17 And when he came to himself, he said, how
- 14:39many hired servants of my father's have bred enough and to
- 14:43spare, and I will perish with hunger.
- 14:46So here he starts thinking about how even the hired servants that
- 14:53his father has are eating better than him, and he is his child.
- 14:59And we could see that this prodigal is turning his mind
- 15:05back to the father. 18 And I will arise and go to my father,
- 15:11and I will say unto him, Father, I've sinned against heaven, and
- 15:15before you. So not not only did he bring the
- 15:17father back to his mind, but he actually put it into action.
- 15:23He actually put some feet to the thought.
- 15:27He actually went 19 and am no more worthy to be called your
- 15:34son. Make me as one of your hired
- 15:37servants. So we can see here that as long
- 15:41as he was in his father's house, he knew that he would be taken
- 15:44care of. 20 And he arose and came to his father.
- 15:49But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had
- 15:53compassion, and ran and fell on his neck, and kissed him.
- 15:58So we can see here that the father did not go to the son.
- 16:02The Father waited for the Son to make the connection, to make the
- 16:08application, to see and to actually decide and make a
- 16:12decision for the Father. And God doesn't take any
- 16:18hostages. God waits until we choose Him
- 16:23and it brings him so much more glory.
- 16:25And it is a divine mystery that God could have put us in the
- 16:30garden without the tree, with the knowledge of good and evil,
- 16:36He could have put us in the garden without.
- 16:40And what did He do? He put us in that garden.
- 16:44And he told us we could eat of all the trees except for the
- 16:46One. What did he do?
- 16:48He put us in the garden with the serpent.
- 16:51And why? It is wisdom to ask yourself why
- 16:58he could have done it any other way.
- 17:00But why did he choose this way? And the answer is to bring him
- 17:05the most amount of glory. And you can see it in this story
- 17:09of the prodigal. The prodigal has to choose to go
- 17:13back. The prodigal has to come to his
- 17:16senses. It wasn't enough for the Father
- 17:18to just keep him in his house and to just make him obedient.
- 17:23It is us we have to make that decision.
- 17:26And when we do, because we have free will, it brings the Father
- 17:30so much more glory. Friends 21 And the son said unto
- 17:39him, Father, I've sinned against heaven and in your sight, and am
- 17:43no more worthy to be called your son.
- 17:46He was worthy of death in this culture, Friends.
- 17:49And the Father fell upon him, and made him his son quickly, so
- 17:53that he would not be put to death. 22 But the Father said to
- 17:57his servants, Bring forth the best Rd., put it on him, and put
- 18:02a ring on his hand and shoes on his feet, and show the community
- 18:06that he is mine, He is my Son. He is not a traitor.
- 18:11And this is what God does for you, and he does for me.
- 18:15We are worthy of death, we are worthy of hell.
- 18:18We are worthy of eternal damnation and separation from
- 18:22God. But what does he do?
- 18:24He calls us his own. He invites us in to paradise.
- 18:29He invites us in to his heavenly abode.
- 18:32He seats us there with Christ, and we are not worthy of it.
- 18:36But it is only by the blood of Jesus Christ that we can enter
- 18:40in friends, and that is this covering. 23 And bring here the
- 18:48fattened calf, and kill it, and let us eat and be merry. 24 For
- 18:53this my son was dead and is alive again.
- 18:57He was lost and is found, and they began to be merry.
- 19:02God prepares A banquet for us in the presence of our enemies,
- 19:08this marriage supper of the Lamb.
- 19:11And here we can see that we were once dead in our trespasses, we
- 19:20were dead in our sin. And if we would have died, we
- 19:25would have been eternally separated from God forever and
- 19:29ever, a billion times over, dying and never being able to
- 19:33die. And here you can see that the
- 19:37doesn't see us in our sinful state.
- 19:40The Father sees us clothed and in a robe, and he sees us with
- 19:45the ring, and he prepares the banquet for us.
- 19:48Praise God. Hallelujah. 25 And now the elder
- 19:52son was in the field, and as he came, and he drew near to the
- 19:56house, and he heard music and dancing. 26 And he called one of
- 20:00the servants and asked what these things meant. 27 And he
- 20:04said unto him, Your brother has come, and your father has killed
- 20:08the fattened calf, because he has received him safe and sound.
- 20:12Praise the Lord whenever we finally come to our senses,
- 20:15whenever we finally return to the Father's house and He sees
- 20:19us. Made whole he sees us safe and
- 20:25sound. 28 And he was angry. Who?
- 20:30Would not go. In and therefore came his father
- 20:34out and entreated him. 29 And he answering said to his father,
- 20:40Lo, these many years do I serve you?
- 20:43Neither transgressed I at any time your commandment, and yet
- 20:48you never gave me a kid that I might make merry with my
- 20:53friends. So you can.
- 20:56See here that this root of bitterness has sprung up in this
- 21:02brother, and you can see here that he's trying to come to the
- 21:09Father and give his resume of all of the things that he's done
- 21:15for the Father. But it doesn't work that way.
- 21:18Grace abounds, friends, and it is not by our works that we are
- 21:25saved, so that any man should boast.
- 21:30It is. Only by the blood of the Lamb
- 21:32that we're going to get there, and it is by the grace of God
- 21:36that we're going to get there, and this grace abounds. 30.
- 21:44But as soon as your son was come, which has devoured your
- 21:48living with harlots, you have killed for him the fatted calf.
- 21:55So here this brother was presuming that his other brother
- 22:02had. Squandered.
- 22:04All the wealth with prostitutes, and here he comes back and the
- 22:10father treats him better than his brother who's been with him
- 22:14the whole time. And it is only by the grace of
- 22:18God that someone at the end of their life can give their life
- 22:23over to the Lord Jesus Christ and be saved and enter into
- 22:29eternity and escape the fires of damnation.
- 22:33But what risk we take at trying to wait till the end?
- 22:42And this older brother would have done well to remember that.
- 22:48If he was. To finish this race well, his
- 22:52rewards would have been greater than the younger brother who
- 22:55squandered his life and squandered the inheritance and
- 22:59then came in at the last moment. And you could see it here in our
- 23:03day, in our hour. You can see it here in this
- 23:06lifetime. There are many who gave their
- 23:08life to the Lord at a young age, and they've lived a righteous
- 23:13life and they when they die and they go into the presence of the
- 23:18Lord, they will be richly rewarded for this long life.
- 23:22And there is nothing better in this world than to serve God
- 23:25while you were young and to accept your lot in life.
- 23:29And if you were to finish the race, well, your rewards will be
- 23:33many friends and there will be some who wait and they live a
- 23:40debaucherous lifestyle. And at the very end, the gospel
- 23:44is presented and they accept it and they are also ushered into
- 23:49eternity, but they have nothing to bring with them friends.
- 23:53But you can flip that around and you can say that there are a lot
- 23:58of people who are resentment. They are resentful of those who
- 24:04get to come into the same place, and they got to have their cake
- 24:10and eat it too. And they themselves, their
- 24:16rewards are snatched from them even though they go.
- 24:20And the least shall be 1st and the 1st shall be least.
- 24:23And this calls for wisdom, friends. 30.
- 24:33One. And he said unto him, Son, you
- 24:36are ever with me, and all that I have is yours.
- 24:40This is the Christian walk. This is the faith filled walk.
- 24:46Friends. All that is the Father's belongs
- 24:49to us, friends. This whole world in the galaxies
- 24:54above and the depths below, friends, it was all created by
- 24:58Him and for Him and to Him. And whenever you come in a right
- 25:03relationship with God through His Son Jesus Christ, it's all
- 25:07available to you. You just have to reach out and
- 25:10grab it friends. I pray.
- 25:14That you found that 32 and it was me that we should make merry
- 25:19and be glad for this. Your brother was dead and is
- 25:23alive again and was lost and is found and will end there.
- 25:29Wow, what? A chapter.
- 25:33What an amazing. Story that Jesus tells us.
- 25:38These are from the lips, the very lips of our Lord Jesus
- 25:42Christ. We can see here his thoughts
- 25:46about what it looks like for those that are trapped in sin
- 25:52and they finally come to their senses while they still have
- 25:55breath in their lungs. They were dead and now they are
- 25:58alive and we do not need to be like the older brother and try
- 26:02to push out and keep out those that are squandering their
- 26:07inheritance now. If there's breath in their
- 26:09lungs, there's still hope for them, friends.
- 26:12And we would do well to celebrate anytime that a Sinner,
- 26:18no matter their past, anytime a Sinner comes to their senses, it
- 26:24is a cause for celebration. Do not let a root of bitterness
- 26:30spring up. Do not try to keep those out of
- 26:34the Kingdom of God. Because.
- 26:38Our Father will be sore displeased whenever we try to
- 26:43keep those out of the Kingdom because we don't see ourselves
- 26:49properly as once completely debased and separated from Him.
- 26:57There is not one that is good, no, not one.
- 27:01Friends, all of our righteousness is but filthy
- 27:05rags. It is only the righteousness of
- 27:09Jesus Christ that gets us there. I hope you've been blessed by
- 27:13this chapter. I know I sure have, many times
- 27:16over. I'm praying for.
- 27:18You. We'll see.
- 27:20You back here. Tomorrow, God bless you.
