- 4:17the end. Welcome, miss Christina. Thank you for having me. Of
- 4:24course, you know we've been talking before the show. But is there anything
- 4:29that you want them to know about you that I did not say in your
- 4:34small introduction. No, you pretty much all of Outside of that, you
- 4:41know, I give all the glory and honor praise to God's That is who
- 4:45I am sitting here representing tonight. That's pretty much it. Yes, Well,
- 4:53I'm going to start with asking the question about your childhood. How was
- 4:59it for are you growing up? And where did you grow up? Was
- 5:02it here in South Carolina? So? Yeah? It was originally so I
- 5:09originally grew up like until about the age of eleven. I grew up in
- 5:13Greenwood, South Carolina, and this really small town called were Shows. My
- 5:17grandmother was then and then my mother had taken me, and that's how I
- 5:21ended up here in Columbia, South Carolina, where I currently am. My
- 5:28childhood with my grandmother was very smooth, full of love, and very much
- 5:33what a child's childhood should be. When my mother had taken me at eleven,
- 5:38that's some things had gotten pretty rocky. I was introduced to a lot
- 5:41of new things. I was abandoned at fourteen, so she only had me
- 5:45for a little bit. Things got pretty crazy. It was almost like culture
- 5:48shop coming from my grandmother to that type of childhood that was kind of like
- 5:53a storybook childhood, almost living with my mother, which was almost like an
- 6:00urban fiction novel kind of transition. So it was, it was, It
- 6:06was, It was a lot. It's always different when you go from what
- 6:13you consider a stable household to one of chaos. And basically, I'm gonna
- 6:18call it what it is, foolishness because it doesn't seem right and it doesn't
- 6:24seem safe, because I can relate to that because I was raised by my
- 6:30aunt. But I did go and live with my mom. I remember around
- 6:36the age of I stayed with her when I was around five, and the
- 6:42very first time I witnessed domestic violence in the household, and it was a
- 6:48courture, very culture shock for me because I had never been in a space
- 6:54where I saw adults raising their hands. I saw adults, you know,
- 7:00using weapons against each other, blood everywhere, and I'm the older sibling and
- 7:04so I'm having to protect my younger brother and it was just complete chaos.
- 7:10And then like the next day, they're acting like nothing happened, and that
- 7:15was completely weird to me. And then anytime I would be in the space
- 7:19with my mom, this was the type of atmosphere that was there, and
- 7:25so for her it was normal. For me, it was like, Okay,
- 7:28this is crazy. I don't want to be here. Where can I
- 7:30go? But I do understand that that does lead to having self esteem issues
- 7:39and dealing with abandonment issues. How were you able to deal with that and
- 7:46overcome that? Well, I started saying, it took an extremely It took
- 7:53a really long time. The abandonment and the rejection was probably the worst because
- 7:59it put me in a mindset of like, you know, if my own
- 8:01mother doesn't want me, who could possibly want me? Right? And it
- 8:07was hard, and I want to be honest and say it wasn't something I
- 8:11got over. I went to therapy several times. Didn't really you know,
- 8:16it didn't really help me that much at first because I had such a hard
- 8:20time even articulating what exactly I felt because I didn't comprehend it myself. And
- 8:26I want to say I was twenty seven, right, I'm twenty nine now,
- 8:31So I was twenty seven when I actually was finally from that. And
- 8:37the reason I say that is because it had such a hold on me.
- 8:39I went through something very deep with God because I couldn't understand, you know,
- 8:45like I thought that when I came to him, he would reveal to
- 8:46me exactly why I was rejected and abandoning all of these things. And this
- 8:52is why I love the belief in the journey. Right. Yes, he
- 8:56did, in fact reveal to me a lot of these things, but he
- 8:58did it in such a loving and like just a wonderful, profound way.
- 9:03How I got over it. Honest to God, I was like, you
- 9:05know what, that's it. I'm I'm not giving it any more in my
- 9:09life because I'm every decision in relationships or off of me being abandoned at fourteen
- 9:16years old. Yeah, and so you know, I was very different.
- 9:22A lot of people thought that I was weird too clingy. Yeah, and
- 9:26I decided, you know, I went through a situation with a very dear
- 9:28friend of mine and I felt completely rejected, and I'm like, you know
- 9:33what, I'm done with this. I don't ever want to feel rejection again
- 9:35or abandonment or whatever, because you know, people would be doing normal human
- 9:39things and it would affect me very deeply those right, like maybe not returning
- 9:45my phone call in the same day. You know, it's like I'm not
- 9:48good enough for anybody, and they're like, I was busy, right,
- 9:52life is happening, but it's still an insult to injury because you're like,
- 9:58Okay, I thought enough of you for me to call you, and you
- 10:01can't think enough of me to answer the phone or call me back or say
- 10:05something. You know, Yeah, I definitely know how that feels. And
- 10:11I was really just putting like unwarranted, unnecessary, overbearing expectations on the people
- 10:20in my life. I cried out to God. So I was in my
- 10:22living room and I was praising God one day and I made up my mind
- 10:26that that was it. I was done being abandoned and rejected and you know,
- 10:28all of these things that I said, God if you're going to take
- 10:31it, I'll give it to you. If you really will take these kinds
- 10:33of feelings, then I'll give them. That's how I understand why I was
- 10:37rejected. I don't understand why I was abandoned, and I don't care anymore.
- 10:41And I said it just like that, And you spoke to me,
- 10:43and he said, you weren't abandoned and you weren't rejected. He said you
- 10:48were chosen. I chose you. And he said you weren't rejected. You
- 10:52were hidden. I hid you from those who didn't know what to do with
- 10:56your heart. I do. And from that day forward, God gave me
- 11:01a completely different perspective on my life and on what I had gone through.
- 11:09Not that it had damaged me, but it had me right that it stopped
- 11:15me from over pouring into those that I wasn't supposed to pour into that I
- 11:18wouldn't poured into, So the scar in a sense, had protected me.
- 11:24And then receiving this revelation completely changed the way that I you know, it
- 11:31opened up doors for me to forgive my mother. Yeah, and you know,
- 11:33we really it went on from there and after that, like I was
- 11:37completely open to new perspectives about everything. Yeah, And I think that's not
- 11:46relate to that, because people don't understand that when you talk about forgiveness and
- 11:52things of that nature, it's not about forgetting what you've gone through at all.
- 11:58It has absolutely nothing to do with that. But it's acknowledging the people
- 12:03in which for where they were, and you got to look at them.
- 12:09And that's what helped me to forgive my mom, forgive my dad, and
- 12:13the sense of they were children before and they were hurt, and the things
- 12:18that they were hurt by led to them not understanding the position and the role
- 12:24in which they had for the children that they brought into the world. So
- 12:30they didn't abandon me in the sense of they didn't want me. They abandoned
- 12:37me in a way that here, I can't have you with me because I
- 12:41can't protect you in the way that I need to. So I'm going to
- 12:46leave you where I feel you're the most safe and the most secure. And
- 12:50so when I realized, Okay, my mom didn't leave me. She put
- 12:58me in a place where it was safe for her to be, where she
- 13:01would always know where I was, and there was never a question about me
- 13:05being out on the street or not being to where she could come and see
- 13:09me or anything like that. My dad, it was the same thing,
- 13:13and so learning to let them go and let them off the hook for being
- 13:20who they were assigned to be and not who I wanted them to be.
- 13:26And that was the major thing. Once I realized, Okay, God,
- 13:31I gotta let them go and the image go of who I wanted them to
- 13:37be and understand for who you created them to be. Once I did that,
- 13:43the forgiveness was easy. There was never a hard word that I had
- 13:46to say to my mama, never a hard word that I had to say
- 13:50to my dad. And even though the relationship with my dad is still somewhat
- 13:56a little rocky here and there, but that's only because like my mom passed
- 14:01away in June. And getting my dad to understand is that at this point
- 14:07in life, I just simply want to be a child. I don't care
- 14:11about what you didn't do when I was little. I need you to be
- 14:16my dad. I don't care that you didn't teach me how to ride a
- 14:20bike. I don't care that you didn't teach me how to be how a
- 14:26guy is supposed to treat a girl. I don't care about any of that.
- 14:28I need you to be my father today because yesterday is gone and we
- 14:33can't move on from yesterday if you're gonna hold on to it, because we're
- 14:37in the presence of today, and today is what's gonna get us to tomorrow.
- 14:41So if we can meet there, then we'll be fine, because yesterday
- 14:46gone and God ain't gonna give us a repeat of yesterday. He's gonna give
- 14:50us a new day when we open our eyes in the morning. So let's
- 14:54move forward. But going through abandonment issues, being depressed, self esteem issues,
- 15:03looking at you know who you are, and it's a hard thing to
- 15:05do to look at yourself in the mirror and think, okay, well I'm
- 15:11not good enough for anybody. I'm not good enough for anything. And being
- 15:16hidden is one of the things that you know. I can honestly say not
- 15:20for for obvious reasons. For me, I always say I'm often overlooked and
- 15:28never really heard because number one, I'm four eight. Most people don't ever
- 15:31see me for that particular reason, so it oftentimes fits. But most people
- 15:37don't listen to a lot of things that I have to say. And I
- 15:41had to understand that the people who are supposed to hear what I have to
- 15:45say hear me the first time. I never worry about it anymore because I
- 15:48used to be like, Okay, nobody cares anything about what I say,
- 15:52Nobody cares anything about how I look or anything like that. But then what
- 15:56I realized that it was the people who are supposed to see me will see
- 16:00me. I'll never be hidden to them. The people are who are supposed
- 16:04to hear what I have to say will always hear it, whether it's today
- 16:07or tomorrow. They heard what I said, and I'm in a space to
- 16:11where people hear me without a question, you know. And I'm grateful for
- 16:17that because God connected me with the people that he has designed for my destiny.
- 16:23And that's a blessing because we met in the process of the sorority.
- 16:30Yes, and that was by God's design, And even me being in that
- 16:34space for the small amount of time that I was, I knew it was
- 16:38God's design and his purpose for me to be there. And I also knew
- 16:41it when it was time for me to let it go. And so when
- 16:47I realized it was time for me to go, I had already let them
- 16:51know I will never fight for a position that God has already told me.
- 16:56I've done my time here and I did what I was assigned to do,
- 17:00and I'm okay with leaving. And they were like, well, don't do
- 17:03that. No, I'm okay because God already told me my assignment there was
- 17:10up. So I don't have any hard feelings. I don't have any animosity
- 17:14towards anybody with that. It was just that I was there for the season
- 17:18in which He had placed me. There no other reason, no other exceptions
- 17:22at all except for that. And I think people sometimes want to hold on
- 17:27to things that God is trying to tell them to let go, and he
- 17:32will. He will hit you a couple of times, and he will break
- 17:36you to the point that when you're broken enough, he'll mend you back.
- 17:45You know, he'll mend you back together in the place that broke you.
- 17:48But you gotta you gotta let it go. And if you don't let it
- 17:52go, you're gonna be hurt and you're gonna be damaged in so many more
- 17:56ways than if you let it go when he told you to the first time.
- 18:00Because I know I'm one of those stubborn people, and I'll be like,
- 18:03Okay, God, I can do this, just just give me a
- 18:06little bit more time. Yeah, he gonna hit me a couple more times
- 18:10and be like, I don't told you let it go. Yeah, you
- 18:14know, I believe I agree with you on that, and I believe that's
- 18:18this is why I tell you, this is why I always give you your
- 18:18flowers. Like, I'm so grateful that guy's using you in this leg on
- 18:22this podcast, because I don't think people speak enough on believing in the journey.
- 18:26And since I was telling you earlier about elevation often does not when it
- 18:32comes to elevation in Christ, it often does not look the way that people
- 18:37imagine it looking right can elevate me. So I got a brand new mansion
- 18:41I'm pulling up in some twenty twenty four or something, you know that,
- 18:44Like I got a job making eighteen figures a year, you know. And
- 18:48elevation in God for me was not like that. It was him actually breaking
- 18:52me down and building you back up because the foundation was just it was it
- 18:57wasn't a silent it wasn't at all. It was broken. It was broken
- 19:03with you know, anger and bitterness and resentment and non understanding it. That's
- 19:07exactly what he does. He tears all of that from you, and then
- 19:11he rebuilds your foundation and builds you back up. But you know, it's
- 19:14like, if you're going to build a brand new mall, you got to
- 19:17knock down the mall that's there. You know, you held on top of
- 19:19a broken structure. And that's exactly what God does. Elevation in Christ it
- 19:25looks like it looks like you know, like it looks it does. And
- 19:32then after you go through the building process because he bulldoze, he cleans up
- 19:37and then he rebuilds and once you start going that, then you start going
- 19:41through the other elevation. Yeah. But I believe that's how a lot of
- 19:44people miss so many of their blessings for the wrong things instead of in the
- 19:48journey exactly, because one thing I will say is that God will give you
- 19:55a vision. He'll give you the vision before he even gives you anything else.
- 19:59If you're very vivid in dreams, like, God gives you that dream
- 20:04and then he'll start placing things in place, not even you may not even
- 20:11prayed anything about it. It may have been an afterthought. But God already
- 20:15heard that, and he starts giving you the vision. And once he gives
- 20:18you the vision. All you need to do is follow the steps and what
- 20:22He's given you, and then it slowly becomes a reality and you're like,
- 20:27Okay, God, I don't really know what you're trying to do, but
- 20:33I'm gonna be obedient to what it is, because now it just looks like
- 20:37a whole bunch of mess. And then the people that you've been trying to
- 20:41hold on to they slowly start acting funny or then they'll tell you that you
- 20:45acting funny or whatever. But without that elevation, you gotta go through some
- 20:51separation too, which means you gotta let a lot of things go. And
- 20:56we don't want to let people go because we feel like like, Okay,
- 21:00we have history with these people. Okay, that's great, you can have
- 21:03history with them, but they can't go to where God is about to take
- 21:07you next. And it's okay that they can't go with you. And we
- 21:11got to learn to be okay that that separation that God has for you and
- 21:17that catastrophe that downfall everything you like, God, why am I so uncomfortable
- 21:23right now? And what I've learned to do and when those times come for
- 21:27me is that when I'm uncomfortable, I say, God, listen, I'm
- 21:33very uncomfortable right now, and I don't know what you're about to do.
- 21:37But I know if I was still comfortable, I couldn't get where you're trying
- 21:41to take me next. So allow me some grace and allow me some patience
- 21:48to understand it at this moment, because I don't understand it completely, but
- 21:52I know in time it shall come, and what it does, I'll understand
- 21:57and I'll be able to put the pieces together because I know this piece is
- 22:03gonna be connected to another piece. It may not be tomorrow, it may
- 22:07not even be next month, but it will be a piece that connects to
- 22:11whatever it is. And I've learned that, and so I look at life
- 22:17now as a puzzle piece because there are so many things that God has brought
- 22:22me out of. And I was looking at my Facebook memories the other day,
- 22:27and I had a stroke in two thousand and nine, and one of
- 22:32those memories was me coming from physical therapy and going into my neurologist. And
- 22:38I remember the physical therapist that I had. Oh my God, she was
- 22:45really hard, really tough, and I did not like her for the reason
- 22:48of her being so hard and so tough on me because I couldn't use my
- 22:53left side. My right side was attend This left side was a three like
- 22:57on the strength scale, and so I was really stubborn, hard headed,
- 23:04frustrated, mad, angry with the whole situation because I went to bed one
- 23:11way and woke up a whole other way. And that was difficult in itself.
- 23:17And I had small kids. I'm trying to raise them, going through
- 23:19separation, going through a divorce, all of this at the same time,
- 23:22dealing with my mama, dealing with my sister. Everything was all on my
- 23:26shoulders. And I'm like, now I got somebody else over here that's telling
- 23:32me that if I don't want people to treat me like I'm handicapped, then
- 23:37I need to put weight on my foot and walk. And I'm like,
- 23:40I, lady, I can't feel this foot, and you want me to
- 23:44walk. I was like, look, Hire, if you go stand beside
- 23:48me and keep me balanced, then I'll do what you say to do.
- 23:52And she was like, and I told her. I told her, I
- 23:55said I don't like you. She said, it's not my job for you
- 23:57to like me. My job is to make that you walk. And so
- 24:02I'm grateful for how hard she was on me, because yes, I am
- 24:07very stubborn. I I really truly am. So I looked at that and
- 24:12it was like, God, I was praying to be where I am today,
- 24:17and you put a person in my space to help me realize what you
- 24:22needed to do within me and help me to see what I needed to see.
- 24:26And I'm like, Okay, all of that to get me here is
- 24:32because I needed to share that with someone else. Yes it's gonna be hard,
- 24:37Yes it's gonna be uncomfortable. Yes you're not gonna like what people say,
- 24:41what people do, but don't use it as an excuse. Don't use
- 24:45it as a crutch, because it is necessary to get you to where you
- 24:49need to go, because it's gonna be a tool that you're gonna need when
- 24:52you go to the next level. So I was like, okay, God,
- 24:56I see what you did there. That was a good memory. I
- 25:00appreciate it, you know. And so I use walk by faith and not
- 25:04by sight, because if I was walking by sight, then I'd be like,
- 25:08I ain't nowhere in the world at all. I'm gonna get through this
- 25:11because I did not see it at all. I just prayed for strength to
- 25:18get through to the next day because it was hard, and you know,
- 25:22there are some days like I still have the residual effects of you know,
- 25:26left side weakness and numbness and stuff like that. But most people would never
- 25:32know that. Yeah, not no, not not not dealing with you.
- 25:37They wouldn't like, Yeah, they wouldn't. I'm gonna say most people.
- 25:45They might like most people were probably overpoured to like, oh, you know,
- 25:48but not with you. However, I would say that's equivalent or faith,
- 25:53like your stubbornness and your faith, Like I don't know which one.
- 25:57You know what I know, and I feel like so many people miss that.
- 26:04You know, it takes my God, it's a blessing to go into
- 26:10something with the mindset of like, I don't know Jesus, but I know
- 26:14it's you somewhere. That's quite literally the key if you believe that God is
- 26:19who he says he is, and he's gonna do what he said he's gonna
- 26:22do, and that he is forever, that he's working everything out for your
- 26:25good. Technically, you know, it would make sense for you to be
- 26:30like, I'm not worried about it, but that is so much harder for
- 26:33people to do. You would be. You know how they say, so
- 26:37why me, right, and then you have to say, why not me?
- 26:41I'm built for this, I can do this. That's quite literally your
- 26:45mindset. Like I knew that I had to go through this because someone else
- 26:49was gonna need it. Someone else is here this testimony. Yeah, that
- 26:55is what I call astronomical faith. And I think that it. I think
- 26:59that it's a gift. And I think for those of us who don't have
- 27:03that gift so deeplyer who haven't gone through enough, right, because blessed to
- 27:07those who go through many trials and tribulations, So those who haven't gone through
- 27:10enough to be developed in that area to that extent. Yeah, I pray
- 27:15for it, pray for it. That it takes so much of that faith
- 27:19to get through those kinds of things, you know, And often we want
- 27:23to get to the finish line, but don't want to run the race.
- 27:26That was my problem. I wanted to get to the finish line. I
- 27:29didn't want to un listen. The devil always tries to in a way.
- 27:41It always goes in and out every single time. But God's message is gonna
- 27:47be delivered regardless at the end of the day. But I do equate faith
- 27:52and stubbornness for me together, because for one thing, it is always say,
- 28:00God, I don't understand what is necessary for me because I used to
- 28:07ask that question all the time. God, Why mean, why did you
- 28:11put me in this situation? Why did you put me in this space?
- 28:14And then once I realized, I said, okay, look here, God,
- 28:18let's have a conversation so that I can start to change the way I
- 28:22talk with you, because I'm constantly asking you, why, why me?
- 28:27Why am I dealing with this? Why is this so hard? What is
- 28:32it that I'm supposed to learn in this moment? And so I was like,
- 28:36teach me how to change my vocabulary so that I can understand what it
- 28:41is. And so I was like, Okay, I'm not going to ask
- 28:44you why me. I'm going to ask what is it that you're teaching me
- 28:49in this moment that I need? Because I know there's a lesson that you
- 28:55don't want me to repeat, So I need to pay attention now. So
- 29:00once I started doing that, things became a little easier. But me,
- 29:04being who I am in a relationship that I got with God, I will
- 29:08definitely God, look here, sir, this is something that I'm not even
- 29:15sure you sent to me because who you talk to, Like, like,
- 29:23I'm not that ain't for me. I think you delivered this to somebody else
- 29:29the wrong address, sir, because this is not for me. Like when
- 29:33I wrote my first book, I was like, Sir, I was in
- 29:37the middle of cleaning up, like cleaning my house, and I saw a
- 29:41vision of me getting on a plane and going speaking in different places, and
- 29:47I was like, Nah, that wasn't meant for me. Like when I
- 29:49tell you it was a clear vision of all of this, and it was
- 29:55like it was like a twenty second tray of all of these different things,
- 30:02like you know when it's going in fast motion and they're showing you all these
- 30:04different things. That's what I saw. And I was like, uh uh,
- 30:07I think that meant to go to somebody else's addressing, like my neighbor
- 30:11or somebody upstairs somewhere. That was not for me, And so I just
- 30:18went on about my business finish cleaning up. In about a week or so
- 30:21later, the same thing happened again, and I was like, Okay,
- 30:23God, look here, I think you keep delivering this to the wrong house
- 30:27because that is not anything for me. I don't write books. I write
- 30:32poetry. That's what I do. I write when I'm emotional, when I'm
- 30:37dealing with something or motions are all over the place, I write it down.
- 30:41I write it in a poem, and I do whatever. But I'm
- 30:45not a writer. That's not what I do. Lo and behold, that
- 30:51is what I do, now, you know. And so it's like,
- 30:56Okay, I see what you did. I see what you did. So
- 31:00it's like, okay, God, all right, I guess you had a
- 31:06point. I didn't know that you really had it for the right address.
- 31:11It was my stomach. You know. It's like, okay, and now
- 31:15I also help other people do the same thing. And it's like, okay,
- 31:22sir, can you slow down just a little bit so I can actually
- 31:27process this for a moment. And he's like, you already processed it,
- 31:33so keep going God. Yeah, I'm like, dude, come on,
- 31:40And I know, I don't know, God be getting tired of me,
- 31:42cause I wake up in the morning. I'm like, God, I thank
- 31:45you for the breath of my body, for this new day that we have.
- 31:48Thank you for allowing me to get up out of this bed and put
- 31:52one foot in front of the other. I gotta go to work today,
- 31:55and I gotta be able to deal with these people that you're gonna send my
- 31:59way. Allowed me to be whatever you need me to be, whoever you
- 32:02need me to speak to, Allow me to do so in the way that
- 32:07you will speak to them. And I'd be like, okay, God,
- 32:10look here, I'm still a work in progress, though, so don't don't
- 32:15don't. I ain't there all the way. And I know I don't called
- 32:21you three times before I got to work. Please don't put me on hold
- 32:23because I don't ask you seventeen times about these different things. And I know
- 32:29you want to put me on hold again, but I got another question,
- 32:32And I know he'd be like, okay, Tvida, can you please just
- 32:37go do what I told you to do right now? And I'll be like,
- 32:40okay, but let me ask you this though. If I go through
- 32:44this process right here, what's gonna be the outcome? And he'd be like,
- 32:47I didn't need you to ask me that right now. I just need
- 32:51you to go do what I said do, So can you go do that?
- 32:53Okay? Well, I'll be back in about thirty minutes. God,
- 32:55I'm gonna come back. And then we're gonna talk about this, and that's
- 32:59what I do, and that's how I talk to God. And I feel
- 33:01like I know he'd be tired of me. I know he do. He'd
- 33:06be like, Lord, she don't ask me seventeen questions before five o'clock.
- 33:12And I say, well, God, I woke up at fourth like,
- 33:15what's the problem, Like we you know I'm gonna do this, So I
- 33:20mean, you ain't got to put me on whole today. You know you
- 33:22ain't got to do that. You know. I think God loves that,
- 33:25and I think that it's extremely important that we stay open in that way because
- 33:32I'm gonna tell you something that I used to do. Okay, I you
- 33:36see, at to some point, if I didn't want to deal with something
- 33:37and God got me for this. If I didn't want to deal with something,
- 33:40I would literally like I wouldn't talk to God about it. I'm like
- 33:46Jesus, you know, And I'm gonna tell you how God got me with
- 33:50that. So God had had me start a Bible study and I started it.
- 33:53It was an end home Bible study. And God will let you know
- 33:57that it was going that it was gonna go public and straight up in boor
- 34:00and I'm like, I don't do public. Jesus, you already know when
- 34:06I left it within the home. So God had me and some very beautiful
- 34:10young ladies connect. We connected and everything's going. They're like, oh,
- 34:15you know what, we shad a Bible study. I'm like, yeah,
- 34:15let's do it. So we all signed up. We're doing this Bible study.
- 34:20To me, why kid you not? I found out that I was
- 34:22the host the night of we're setting up for the Bible study and everybody's and
- 34:29I'm just like, what, Petreon, what are you looking at me like
- 34:32that? Oh, I'm hosted? And so I was just I looked up
- 34:37at God and I'm just like, that's not funny. But you know,
- 34:45in that moment, he gave me exactly what I needed, like all the
- 34:49nervousness. It ceased everything, you know, and I started and he he
- 34:52took over right and Holy Spirit led that. And when it was done,
- 34:57I was like like it was like so I'm like, oh all right,
- 35:04thank God, we ain't got ever do that again. We're like hitting me
- 35:07up, planning for the next one and the next one, and then here
- 35:10we are over a year later, yo, and the Bible Study is still
- 35:15going and there's you know, more and more people coming, and then it
- 35:16when it you know, ended up going on to like YouTube and it just
- 35:20got like, you know, more and more people coming, and it was
- 35:22just like when I think back to the mindset, I've never done it again.
- 35:28Now, I'm like, would you say, when can you confirm that
- 35:30confirmation? Jesus? You know, And I think it's it's extremely important that
- 35:37we're that way. I don't think we ask God enough questions. I do
- 35:39want to say. I think there's a difference in between questioning God and asking
- 35:44God questions. Like how you said, I didn't ask God why me?
- 35:46I asked him? What can I learn from this? Yeah? That's asking
- 35:51God questions? Why questioning God? Yeah, if you know, if you
- 35:55like, if they you know, if that's hard for anybody, grab I
- 35:59understand. But I think I think it's beautiful that you do that. And
- 36:02I'm sure I'm sure God laughs a lot, and I'm sure he, you
- 36:06know, ignores a lot of those questions because I believe that if God told
- 36:09us, because if God would have told me next Thursday, I'm gonna have
- 36:14you go live in front of thirty three people. Oh yeah, I would
- 36:19have got sick or something. I would have sneeze a snack. I can't
- 36:22make it. Yes, if God actually gave you what you are gonna be
- 36:29doing a itinerary of what He has planned for you every day, there would
- 36:34be an excuse that you would have every single time. You ain't gonna give
- 36:39him a reason. You gonna give him an excuse. And God ain't gonna
- 36:43take no excuse from you. He ain't finna do none of that. And
- 36:46my thing is like I'd be like, God, I know, look,
- 36:51I know you won't me do such and such, but do I have to
- 36:55do it today? Like like right now? Like right now. You'd be
- 37:00like, yeah, that's what I said. Do I'm like, okay,
- 37:04all right, God, I got it. I'm a gone and dude.
- 37:07And then I'd be like, but Jesus, I'm trying to take a bath.
- 37:09I'm trying to take a bath right now. Well, I said,
- 37:14you need your phone in here. You can post what I just said.
- 37:16And that's usually what happens, like especially if I post like the thing that
- 37:21I did yesterday about the post that I seen about somebody said that it was
- 37:29a post that somebody had posted that their assignment was to break you. But
- 37:35in God's presence, he is the person to mend you and put you back
- 37:39together in front of the very person that broke you. And it was like,
- 37:45I'm trying to take a bath, sir, and this is what you
- 37:50want me to do, so I had to stop taking my bath putting this
- 37:53out. I'm like, okay, Lord, I understand, I'm being obedient
- 38:00and I did what you said do but you know, I was just trying
- 38:02to clean up. I was just that's what I was doing. And he
- 38:06don't care about what you doing in that moment. If he if he tells
- 38:12you to do something, gon' do it. Just gon do it. I
- 38:14don't know me God, I'll get to it in a minute. Now,
- 38:19you're gonna go ahead and do it now, just like your mama and your
- 38:21dad to tell you to do something, and they don't want to wait five
- 38:23ten minutes for you to figure out what it is they telling you. Now,
- 38:27you know what they telling you to do, gone in the clean up
- 38:30their room. And like I said, and that's basically what he'd be telling
- 38:34me. And I'm like, okay, I sir, I did it.
- 38:36I did it. I'm right and there's always a reason. And this is,
- 38:39you know, something I teach my. You know, my listen,
- 38:43you don't have to you to be obedient. That's something that God taught me.
- 38:45It's like, I don't like this. You don't have to like it
- 38:49to be obedient. You know. I make that very clear to me,
- 38:52you know, because I had to think where I was like, well,
- 38:53God would never make me do something I don't want to do what I did.
- 39:01I had that believe, you know, and I will never forget the
- 39:05day God made it abundantly clear to me. I heard it three times in
- 39:09one day. You don't have to like it to be obedient. You don't
- 39:13have to like it to be obedient. If I tell you to do it,
- 39:15doesn't matter how you feel. Obedience is necessary and it's better than sacrifice.
- 39:22You know. I used to try to bargain with God in that way.
- 39:24Oh Lord, how lack of obedience affected our blessings and our lives and
- 39:34our relationship with God. They wouldn't be as inclined to do it. I
- 39:37actually had to learn that the hard way. You know. I think people,
- 39:42I think people tend to think that God is going to barter with them
- 39:47and negotiate and do this. And like I had a coworker one time a
- 39:52few years ago and she was, Oh my God, she was, I'm
- 39:58going to church every Sunday. And I prayed to God for a new car.
- 40:02And you know, I prayed and asked him, if you get me
- 40:05this new car, that I'll attend church every Sunday and I would do this.
- 40:08And so God blessed her with the car, and so then she stopped
- 40:15going to church. I said, oh, you got the blessing that God
- 40:20gave you, but now you don't want to keep your end of the bargain.
- 40:23I said, okay, just like God bless you, he will remove
- 40:28that blessing. God would never do that, I said, okay. I
- 40:31said, you made a promise to God and you are not fulfilling your promise
- 40:37to him. I said, but you know who am I to judge?
- 40:40I said, you know, I just know the promises that you made and
- 40:45the conversation that we had about the promise that you made. God doesn't beg
- 40:50and he doesn't barter. I said, but you bartered with him, and
- 40:52you made a promise. God is good on his promises because he never breaks
- 40:58a promise. So you're supposed to keep yours when you promise him what you're
- 41:02gonna do. So she started saying, oh, well, I gotta get
- 41:06the kids ready. It's five of them and that. And I said,
- 41:10okay, you have five of them. When you were praying and asking him
- 41:14to bless you with the car, the car started tearing up. It started
- 41:17eating a whole bunch of work done to it. It couldn't make the payment,
- 41:22like it was so much stuff. And I said, Mmm, you
- 41:28ain't been talking to God either. You ain't been heaping up with nothing you
- 41:31said you were gonna do. She's talking about you really believe that that's what
- 41:36it is. I said, go talk to them, find out for yourself.
- 41:38I said, because I'm just on the outside looking in, girl,
- 41:42I don't know. But I'm just gonna tell you what I'm saying. You
- 41:45made a promise, and now you don't want to hold up what you promised
- 41:50God you would do. Go do what you do, baby, But you
- 41:54don't have a car no more. Okay. It's so I see what I
- 42:00see prlel and our relationships with it really is his parallel. And this is
- 42:06actually what one of our most recent Bible study Bible studies were on God's forgiveness.
- 42:12Except in Christ into your life, it is all or nothing. It's
- 42:15the same with our relationships. This is why it's so important to believe in
- 42:17the journey, because once you accept Christ into your life, then boom,
- 42:21the process begins. It's like a handshakee like, okay, boom, we're
- 42:25starting. You know, the thing gives a lot of people. And I
- 42:30say this to a lot of people. They want God to be so big
- 42:34that he's the creator of the universe, everything inside of it, everything outside
- 42:37of it, that he can supernaturally bless them, give them supernatural jobs and
- 42:42finances, and solve it in a bottle, right exactly. But they want
- 42:47him to be small enough to comprehend, small enough so that they don't have
- 42:52to grow to meet him. You understand what I'm saying. Work that way.
- 42:57You know, they want God and the blessings, but they don't want
- 43:00to give what it takes for that, which is your whole, entire heart.
- 43:05You gotta be able to surrender, and most people aren't willing to surrender
- 43:10because they want to hold so much control over what it is that He does
- 43:15in their lives. And God doesn't work that way. And I don't know
- 43:20why people don't seem to understand that God does not work on our terms.
- 43:27He doesn't do that. And when I think, when people truly understand that
- 43:30God does not work on our terms, he will meet us where we are
- 43:36and he'll wait for us to invite him in. But he's always there.
- 43:40He's never too far away from you to get to him, but he will
- 43:45not come in until you invite him in. And once you do understand that,
- 43:51it's not it's not a straight line to your destiny. There is so
- 43:57much that you're gonna go through order for him to see if you are worthy
- 44:02of what you've prayed for. Because some of the things we pray for is
- 44:07not on our plan that God has for us. Because we be praying sometimes
- 44:13for that new car, for that new house, for whatever that is,
- 44:16and God like that ain't even in the season and what you own right now,
- 44:21So you can't have that call today, You can't even have that car
- 44:24next year because it's not in the plan. But since you want to go
- 44:29on over there and try to do something that I ain't told you it was
- 44:31part of your plan right now, it ain't your season. But God ahead
- 44:36gonna do. I'm gonna be right here. I'm not outside the perimeters of
- 44:40God, the protection of God. So and everything goes cuzy. You're like,
- 44:45oh, God, like, what's up? Way? I told you
- 44:50not to do it, but you want to go on over there and do
- 44:52it your way in the way. I wait for you. Yeah, I
- 44:58thought what you was doing. I ain't seeing the no boat, no life
- 45:02saved, I ain't sending none. You gonna work this out on your own
- 45:06until you feel like I said what I told you not to do in the
- 45:10first place. You won't go over there and touch that hot stove. I
- 45:14told you don't touch it, but look at it. You don't got burnt.
- 45:15Now you want me to heal it. I ain't all of that until
- 45:21it's time to heal. Like, stop playing with me. I was one
- 45:25of those. This is why I share it so deeply with people like I
- 45:29was one of those because I kept I kept coming to God, and I'm
- 45:31again I was expecting my elevations to look big different. I'm like, oh,
- 45:35I just accepted my life into Jesus Christ and really not worried about anything
- 45:37else. Everything's about the supernaturally happened in my life and everything started going the
- 45:43opposite way, and I'm like, I don't think I'm doing it right.
- 45:45I don't think I'm doing it right. But what do I need to do?
- 45:51And I took the wrong time somewhere And now that I am where I
- 45:55am, I am so open and so serious. This is so real about
- 46:00what I went through. There is no shame. Just like I told you,
- 46:04I'm real big on that I cannot carry shame in my father's name.
- 46:07I will open it. I'm for it, all of it. I feel
- 46:13like people need to understand that there is nothing that you've been through that God
- 46:19doesn't already know about, and so you have nothing to be ashamed of.
- 46:23And once you understand that, your level of transparency. That's why when I
- 46:29met you, I told you guys, I was an open book. I
- 46:31have nothing that I have been through that I am ashamed to tell you,
- 46:36and I stand on that I don't have an issue with telling you what I've
- 46:40been through, what I'm going through currently in this moment, because if I
- 46:45can, if I'm ashamed of what I'm going through, then I'm ashamed to
- 46:47tell you what God brought me through, yep. And if I'm gonna be
- 46:52ashamed to tell you what God brought me through. Then I'm ashamed of the
- 46:54life that He gave me. And I'm not ashamed of the life that he
- 46:59gave me, because in life that He gave me is the one that I
- 47:01consistently show up for every single day. Every day ain't a great day for
- 47:07me, but every day I'm showing up and I'm thanking God for this day
- 47:10and this day that I'll never see again, and I'm thankful for each and
- 47:14every moment that He gives me because I don't know who we touch tonight,
- 47:19but somebody's been touched by something we've said. And that's the biggest picture,
- 47:23biggest point of it all, that somebody somewhere heard what needed to be said
- 47:31tonight so that they can overcome what they're currently going through. Because going through
- 47:37dealing with abandonment issues, being in domestic violence situations, going through addictions and
- 47:42things of that nature, all of that made you who you are and appreciate
- 47:46what God has done for you. Because if you look back over your yesterday's,
- 47:52they didn't always seem bright and sunny, but yo tomorrow's and well,
- 47:57yo today and YO tomorrow is always brighter because you got God leading the way.
- 48:01And even if there's a dark day and a stormy cloud over that,
- 48:06if you keep walking through it, God will get you through to the other
- 48:08side in that rainbow and that sun is gonna shine again. You just gotta
- 48:13trust it and believe it. And if you trust Him like you say you
- 48:16do, he'll never put any more on you than He has not instilled inside
- 48:22of you. I don't believe he don't give you nothing, no more than
- 48:25you can bear. No, it's already there and He already knows what He's
- 48:30equipped you with it. He just needs you to dig deep and bring it
- 48:32out. Once you do that, you're fine. Yep. I want to
- 48:37thank you so much for being here tonight because you know, of course me
- 48:40and you will talk all night about the goodness of God, Chad, because
- 48:45we started before we got on here, and when we had the conversation a
- 48:49couple of weeks ago, it was the same thing. But I never end
- 48:53my show without saying this, and that is stay obedient to what God has
- 48:58called you to do, because the only thing God needs you to do is
- 49:01be obedient to what He's called you to do. But of course, please
- 49:06let them know where they can get your hair care products and how they can
- 49:10reach out to you if they want to be part of your Bible study.
- 49:15Absolutely okay. So I'm on Facebook Christianna Nelson's k R I S T I
