- 0:08SPEAKER_00: There's a great big beautiful tomorrow.
- 0:14SPEAKER_01: Hello, everyone you are listening to Mice and Main Street Man.
- 0:17SPEAKER_01: I am Tristan.
- 0:18SPEAKER_01: And I am Sean.
- 0:20SPEAKER_01: Oh, how are you?
- 0:21SPEAKER_01: I'm good.
- 0:22SPEAKER_01: I'm good.
- 0:23SPEAKER_01: How are you?
- 0:23SPEAKER_01: I'm doing alright, you know.
- 0:25SPEAKER_01: Doing okay.
- 0:26SPEAKER_00: Nice.
- 0:27SPEAKER_01: Glad to hear it.
- 0:28SPEAKER_01: Yeah, you know, we're just getting through this life, you know, the best way we can.
- 0:33SPEAKER_00: That's that's very deep, actually, for this podcast.
- 0:38SPEAKER_01: Yeah, well, sometimes we're serious and deep.
- 0:41SPEAKER_01: That's what we're known for, is being very serious.
- 0:43SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 0:44SPEAKER_00: We stop and smell the mouse.
- 0:46SPEAKER_00: We do, we snort pavement.
- 0:50SPEAKER_00: Yeah, we can.
- 0:51SPEAKER_00: When there's an animatronic we don't like.
- 0:53SPEAKER_00: We do.
- 0:55SPEAKER_00: Just yeah.
- 0:57SPEAKER_01: Anyway.
- 0:58SPEAKER_01: Well, last week uh we chatted about um our favorite family attractions.
- 1:03SPEAKER_01: The week before that, we talked about Zen attractions.
- 1:05SPEAKER_01: This week, yeah, we're finally getting to the thrilling attractions at Disney World.
- 1:10SPEAKER_01: The opposite of Zen.
- 1:12SPEAKER_01: The opposite of that.
- 1:13SPEAKER_01: And I this will be a fascinating list because I left something.
- 1:18SPEAKER_01: I agree.
- 1:19SPEAKER_01: I left something off my list, and we'll talk about it towards the end that you'll be shocked that I left off.
- 1:24SPEAKER_00: But wow.
- 1:25SPEAKER_01: Um all right.
- 1:26SPEAKER_01: I bet it's on my list then.
- 1:27SPEAKER_01: I I think it is going to be, but let's all right, let's dive into it, my friend.
- 1:32SPEAKER_00: Like, what do you got for your number for call your bookies?
- 1:34SPEAKER_00: Call your bookies, because I don't know.
- 1:36SPEAKER_00: This will be interesting to see how many of these overlap.
- 1:40SPEAKER_00: It was it was super interesting that we overlapped two in last week's in the same spots.
- 1:46SPEAKER_00: So let's let's see how that I don't know.
- 1:49SPEAKER_00: I'm I'm gonna start with a dark horse here, one that I might be sort of controversial, but I really do think it belongs on this list, albeit at number five.
- 2:02SPEAKER_00: But I placed in my number five slot Tron light cycle run.
- 2:08SPEAKER_00: I know, I know there's the I love it, I know I love it.
- 2:12SPEAKER_00: I know there's the haters out there that go, but it's too short.
- 2:15SPEAKER_00: It is, it's it's it's short, but but the the fact that you climb on that light cycle and you you you get launched, and I I just think that it really is, except for the length of it, which is too short, but I really do think it's a really cool attraction, and and made the number five on my list of thrilling attractions at Walt Disney World.
- 2:46SPEAKER_01: Well, everybody call that bookie right away, because my number five is Tron Light Cycle Run as well.
- 2:52SPEAKER_01: No, that's crazy pants.
- 2:54SPEAKER_01: 100% true.
- 2:55SPEAKER_01: I think I agree with it, it's short, however, having you know ridden this attraction the last couple times, it's it's always been something we have made time to do.
- 3:14SPEAKER_00: And you you wait in the you wait in the regular line, right?
- 3:18SPEAKER_00: You're not doing individual lightning lane.
- 3:20SPEAKER_01: Um yeah, no, we we just always we've done that once, but the last couple times um we've just hit it right in the like you know, rope dropped it.
- 3:31SPEAKER_01: Um, but yeah, in fact, this last trip, there were no lightning lanes purchased at all.
- 3:36SPEAKER_01: And we'll talk about that at some point because it was actually very successful.
- 3:40SPEAKER_01: Wow, good for you, and I think that that thrill that comes like immediately with the launch is so fantastic, and you're the way you're leaning forward on the motorcycle with that motion, yeah, the outdoor section is incredibly smooth and like visually stunning.
- 3:56SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and at night time when that canopy is lit, I know that does not add necessarily to the thrill of the attraction, but but it's got some good stuff going over there in Marlis.
- 4:09SPEAKER_01: And like I know it's not the biggest drop or longest ride time or anything like that, but it delivers, I think, you know, one of Disney's most unique sensations.
- 4:17SPEAKER_01: It's like pure speed and it's sleek and it's futuristic, and it's unlike anything else there.
- 4:23SPEAKER_00: So I I and as long as you don't have as long as you don't have giant calves, you can ride.
- 4:28SPEAKER_00: Yeah, is really what it boils down to.
- 4:31SPEAKER_01: Right, you know, so all the walking, you know, you gotta be careful.
- 4:35SPEAKER_01: But you do I like it.
- 4:36SPEAKER_01: Number five, Tron Light Cycle Run.
- 4:39SPEAKER_00: All right, all right.
- 4:40SPEAKER_00: Well, my number four, I'm into I'm I'm really kind of surprised that it's this far down on my list, but it's because I have said over and over what an incredible attraction I think it is.
- 4:54SPEAKER_00: I wasn't sure it quite lived up to the thrill of some of the other things on my list, so I guess I downgraded it to the fourth position, but I chose Rise of the Resistance.
- 5:09SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 5:11SPEAKER_00: Uh is it on your list?
- 5:14SPEAKER_00: It is not at all.
- 5:16SPEAKER_00: Actually, interesting.
- 5:17SPEAKER_00: And was that the one you thought I'd be surprised by?
- 5:20SPEAKER_00: Or something else?
- 5:21SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah.
- 5:22SPEAKER_00: And and I do the reason I you know, it is trackless.
- 5:29SPEAKER_00: The the whole experience is amazing, but that's part of you know, riding in the shuttle up to the Imperial Galactic Cruiser isn't thrilling, but it's really cool.
- 5:44SPEAKER_00: And the lightsaber coming through the the wall or the door or the ceiling or whatever is oh, it's incredible.
- 5:53SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's the just the whole thing, and you know getting out there in in the middle of those ad-ats is just mind-blowing.
- 6:02SPEAKER_00: There just isn't I I don't know.
- 6:05SPEAKER_00: I was torn because I think it's such an amazing attraction, and I wanted it to be on my thrill list somewhere, and so I put it at number four.
- 6:15SPEAKER_01: Yeah, so I'll briefly touch on Rise of the Resistance because it did not make the list, and largely because the last like we did end up on it this last time, but it keeps breaking down every time we're there.
- 6:30SPEAKER_01: So when Harper and I were there for spring break, we never got on it.
- 6:33SPEAKER_01: We kept checking this past summer.
- 6:35SPEAKER_01: It was broken down a lot, and we finally did get on it, but it is so impressive, it really, really is.
- 6:41SPEAKER_01: But its inconsistencies really bumped it for me, so it's not on mine, but you never know if you're gonna get real Kylo or if you're gonna get well.
- 6:51SPEAKER_00: Well collapsed that too.
- 6:55SPEAKER_01: Oh, yes, yes.
- 6:56SPEAKER_01: Um, okay, so my number four is actually the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror.
- 7:01SPEAKER_00: Um, I did I considered putting that on my list, but it did not make my list.
- 7:07SPEAKER_00: And that's okay.
- 7:08SPEAKER_01: I just think you know, we've talked about it being a master class in suspense, and I think the attraction, this is one of those that begins long before you even enter the elevator with the the couple pre-shows and the cues and um all of the details, the story, the the cue, the pre-show, and the the theming all through really helps build all of that anticipation.
- 7:31SPEAKER_01: So when you get to the final thrill, I think it it has a really great payoff.
- 7:35SPEAKER_01: Um, you know, the unpredictable drops, uh and it really creates a memorable experience.
- 7:43SPEAKER_01: And the genius of Tower of Terror is that the fear comes from legit unknown because those drops are so randomized, and you just really never know what you're going to get.
- 7:53SPEAKER_01: And I absolutely love it about that.
- 7:56SPEAKER_00: It is it is thrilling.
- 7:58SPEAKER_01: I just I thrilling it just missed my list.
- 8:02SPEAKER_01: That's okay.
- 8:03SPEAKER_01: That is just one of my favorite attractions of all time, too.
- 8:06SPEAKER_01: So I think I have a little bit of bias going into there, but that's my number four is Twilight Zone Tower of Terror.
- 8:12SPEAKER_00: All right, all right.
- 8:14SPEAKER_00: So my number third, I'm sure this is on your list.
- 8:16SPEAKER_00: I cannot fathom that it would not be, but it's Expedition Everest.
- 8:21SPEAKER_01: Yes, 100% on my list, just a little higher.
- 8:23SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 8:23SPEAKER_00: Disco Yeti and all.
- 8:26SPEAKER_00: There's just it is a really top-notch, thrilling coaster, as we've said over and over.
- 8:34SPEAKER_00: The getting up there to the top and having the switch back and and going backwards is so exciting and innovative, and just just the whole atmosphere and the cue, but really, and as I said, the last time we went to our uh Moonlight Magic event and riding it at night, which you don't get a chance to do a whole lot of the time.
- 9:00SPEAKER_00: And normally when you're in the tunnels going backwards, you've got some daylight filtering from either end, and at night you don't, and it becomes really sort of disorienting and just sort of adds to the whole thrill factor.
- 9:14SPEAKER_00: So so yeah, number three on my list, Expedition Everest.
- 9:20SPEAKER_01: And uh yes, I concur with everything that you said.
- 9:23SPEAKER_01: However, that is a little higher for me.
- 9:25SPEAKER_01: So my number three is Avatar Flight of Passage.
- 9:30SPEAKER_01: Um that's my it's my number two.
- 9:33SPEAKER_01: Okay, so I'll let you talk about it.
- 9:35SPEAKER_01: But I it remains one of Disney's most thrilling experiences because of how real it feels.
- 9:40SPEAKER_01: Even though I've been on it countless times, I understand how it works.
- 9:44SPEAKER_01: But when you're climbing on the back of that banshee and it's breathing and you take this journey across Pandora, the sensation of movement is insane.
- 9:54SPEAKER_01: And it really is.
- 9:56SPEAKER_01: It really is.
- 9:57SPEAKER_01: It's it's so immersive, and that it just creates the feeling that you're actually flying, and it's just like it's one of the most memorable attractions in all of Walt Disney World, but I know you're gonna talk about so well.
- 10:09SPEAKER_00: I mean, it's we're right here because that was your number, that was your number number three.
- 10:12SPEAKER_00: Yeah, so yeah, so here my number two is the same thing, flight of passage, and I it for all the reasons you said, uh it just it truly feels like flying.
- 10:26SPEAKER_00: The the first time I wrote it, I would just blew my mind, and to get that beautiful respite in the middle in the cave, but then to dive and and just really feel like you are soaring through the air.
- 10:44SPEAKER_00: I uh that's that's why it was number two on my list and and nudged just a little higher than Expedition Everest.
- 10:54SPEAKER_01: Um and as I mean, that honestly, at any given day, that could be like my number two or one, honestly.
- 11:01SPEAKER_01: Um okay, so my number two, yeah.
- 11:04SPEAKER_00: What's what is your number two?
- 11:05SPEAKER_01: Well, my number two is gonna be a little blasphemous for it being number two, but it's Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind.
- 11:13SPEAKER_01: Um one of the most animated coasters Disney's ever created.
- 11:18SPEAKER_00: Well, and I will I will jump in and say that is my number one.
- 11:21SPEAKER_00: So exactly.
- 11:22SPEAKER_01: So, like I I'll let you talk about it, but I just think it delivers just like a huge thrill without really even relying on massive drops, which I think is fascinating.
- 11:35SPEAKER_01: It's just what it's doing with the speed and the storytelling and the music and the technology, it just is so fresh and exciting.
- 11:44SPEAKER_01: But and in like even the the like pre-show in the queue, still the magic trick with the wall is still cool, even though you totally understand how it happens, right?
- 11:54SPEAKER_01: Still neat.
- 11:55SPEAKER_00: So I'll let you talk about it though, because it's well, I just it's it's also I think that this the rock and roll score plays such a huge part and and can be different up to six times if you write it, although we still have never gotten September.
- 12:12SPEAKER_00: It's a bit of a contentious thing with our household in Disney.
- 12:18SPEAKER_00: It's like really there was even one year, I swear we were there on the 21st day of September, but it was the year they decided not to do September all day right.
- 12:27SPEAKER_01: How dare they?
- 12:28SPEAKER_00: How dare they?
- 12:30SPEAKER_00: But just like you said, the I will say it does tend to make me a little squeamish sometimes with a spinning, but as everybody has said, it's like find that fixed point, you know, those portals, look at a portal.
- 12:47SPEAKER_00: Um, it just it does churn your stomach just a touch, I think, but in a good way, in a thrilling way.
- 12:54SPEAKER_00: And I that's why it made it to the top of my list.
- 12:59SPEAKER_00: It's just an amazing coaster.
- 13:02SPEAKER_01: I agree, it's incredible, it's incredible.
- 13:05SPEAKER_00: So clearly you have made Expedition Everest your number one, correct?
- 13:09SPEAKER_01: I haven't I was a little surprised by that, but as I got to thinking about it, I think Everest is the perfect combo of what like a true thrill ride and a mixed with like that classic Disney storytelling, which I mentioned before, but I think that Q is the best one at Disney, and the story that it's telling and the coaster, the details, even when you're going up the hill, and that you know that that backwards section is so great, and the rest of the time you're racing through the mountain, and yeah, I just think it's it's one of those ones that the thrills are really supported by the story.
- 13:49SPEAKER_01: So the mountain and the atmosphere and the mystery of the yeti, even though he's disco.
- 13:54SPEAKER_00: There's nothing more thrilling than a discoing yeti.
- 13:57SPEAKER_00: I mean, it's not something you see every day.
- 14:00SPEAKER_00: No, and to know that he embraces a dance style of the 70s in such an important and threatening way, absolutely.
- 14:08SPEAKER_00: I think I think speaks volumes to the imagineers and and what they have managed to accomplish.
- 14:17SPEAKER_00: But seriously, I might consider pushing it up my list a little further if they could figure out how to fix the disco yeti.
- 14:25SPEAKER_00: Because I I wrote it in the very, very early days, and I do remember that sucker lungeon at the car, and it was cool.
- 14:34SPEAKER_00: Well, and like the or that or it's the Mandela effect, and I think I saw that, but I really do in the early days think I wrote it with that.
- 14:43SPEAKER_01: I just it's one of those attractions too.
- 14:45SPEAKER_01: The the scale is so incredible that the attraction it's it makes it feel this is gonna sound weird, but uh it just makes it feel like a grand adventure, not just a roller coaster.
- 14:58SPEAKER_01: Cause I I mean it's just incredible.
- 15:02SPEAKER_01: Like we did it several times, and I I just I'm always when I come off that, I'm like, I I'm I'm ready to do it again, and I could do it all day long.
- 15:14SPEAKER_01: And this is the best, you know.
- 15:16SPEAKER_00: Did you try did you try to do the single rider line?
- 15:20SPEAKER_00: Were you affected by this whole new we're gonna put the odd numbers on one side and the even numbers on the other and cut down on how many times we have to use the single rider line?
- 15:29SPEAKER_01: Yeah, so what because I had heard all that before we went there, and we used to use single rider, but the wait times were never crazy for that.
- 15:35SPEAKER_01: So we there was one time where we did wait and we got almost, and then that store a storm hit, and they closed it down for the rest of the day, and that was a bummer.
- 15:43SPEAKER_01: But um, we never did use single rider, but we did see firsthand what they were doing, and it almost eliminates single rider completely because of the way they're separating everybody, which made a lot of sense.
- 15:57SPEAKER_01: It does, it really does.
- 16:00SPEAKER_01: But I mean, they didn't need it because of you know, so wouldn't recommend it anymore.
- 16:05SPEAKER_00: But so that hack is gone, but um, we still managed to get on it a few times, so um Disney World, I Disney World has some darn thrilling rides, it really does, it really does.
- 16:20SPEAKER_00: All the naysayers that think the park down the street has better thrill rides.
- 16:25SPEAKER_00: I go, well, I guess there there are some really good thrill rides down the street and a couple of really great coasters.
- 16:32SPEAKER_00: Velocicoaster is quite a coaster, but in my book, the theming uh leaves plenty to be desired when compared to something like Expedition Everest, even with a disco yeti.
- 16:47SPEAKER_00: Yeah, because they have no velo disco velociraptors.
- 16:51SPEAKER_00: Nobody those Velociraptors don't seem to embrace the dances of the 70s at all.
- 16:57SPEAKER_01: But disco velociraptors doesn't roll off the tongue, but it's it's a good first draft of a band.
- 17:03SPEAKER_00: Well, yeah, they could maybe open for what was it?
- 17:06SPEAKER_00: Galactic Beaver was last week.
- 17:09SPEAKER_01: Galactic Beaver, yes.
- 17:11SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 17:13SPEAKER_00: Now now I want to go see what the what the levels are actually for Toy Story Mania.
- 17:18SPEAKER_00: But Galactic Beaver.
- 17:20SPEAKER_01: I like I like Galactic Beaver a lot.
- 17:22SPEAKER_01: I think, you know, um I've no notes on Galactic Beaver.
- 17:29SPEAKER_00: Well, I'm glad.
- 17:31SPEAKER_00: And I'm sure our audio visitors are glad as well.
- 17:34SPEAKER_01: I'm sure they are.
- 17:35SPEAKER_01: Um, but you know, those audio videos out there may be wanting to take a trip here coming up, and as we say every week, you can help them.
- 17:44SPEAKER_01: And I just want to remind the folks how they can get a hold of you.
- 17:47SPEAKER_00: Yes, well, go to go to our lovely website of Mice and Main Street Men.
- 17:51SPEAKER_00: And Tristan has a link there that will take you to the agent page on the Briar and Main website that uh you can start filling out a little bit of basic information and choose me as your uh as your uh travel designer, and we can start talking details because there is so much going on down there at the end of the year with with the Halloween festivities and the Christmas stuff that's been announced, and all of the parties, and I mean, and there's still some good deals down there to be had as well.
- 18:25SPEAKER_00: So, and if true horror is more your thing, there's always universal.
- 18:29SPEAKER_00: I do people people for some reason are under the impression that all I do is Disney.
- 18:34SPEAKER_00: Au contraire.
- 18:36SPEAKER_01: No, I mean at all.
- 18:37SPEAKER_00: I I love my Disney, but I also book Universal and I book cruises and European travel, and so yeah, I am a jack of all trades.
- 18:48SPEAKER_00: You are, and that's what we want to talk about.
- 18:51SPEAKER_00: And what about you?
- 18:52SPEAKER_00: What are you up to?
- 18:53SPEAKER_00: You you now have a second you have a dual podcast.
- 18:56SPEAKER_00: I mean, you you have two weekly entries, right?
- 18:59SPEAKER_00: The circa 21 minute podcast these days.
- 19:02SPEAKER_01: Yeah, if you're into you know more theatrical stuff, there is a podcast that I host called 21 Minutes, and it is a podcast for a local regional theater here in the Quad Cities called Circuit 21.
- 19:14SPEAKER_01: And each week uh we kind of take some new creative from that theater that's been involved, and we have 21 minutes to chat, but we also are doing these longer form uh episodes as well with various people that have had a tie to circuit 21 but have gone off to do some big things, so some of those are dropping soon too.
- 19:34SPEAKER_01: Yeah, so I'm done with the 42 minutes 42 minutes for those.
- 19:39SPEAKER_01: Those have been uh a little over an hour when I do with the longer form, but but yeah, I'm doing that too, so check it out.
- 19:48SPEAKER_01: 21 minutes, circuit 21.
- 19:50SPEAKER_01: So that's you know, and then I've got you know lots of film stuff.
- 19:56SPEAKER_01: Been doing that a lot lately, some theater stuff coming up.
- 19:59SPEAKER_01: So good for you, sir.
- 20:00SPEAKER_01: You know, we're I'm a dancing bear this month.
- 20:03SPEAKER_01: You are a dancing bear, and good for you.
- 20:07SPEAKER_01: I love my job.
- 20:09SPEAKER_01: You gotta get that, gotta get that insurance.
- 20:16SPEAKER_01: But uh uh, this is always a pleasure, my friend.
- 20:18SPEAKER_01: Thank you so much for doing it, and you know, as we say every week.
- 20:26SPEAKER_01: Thank you all for listening.
- 20:27SPEAKER_01: Good to you.
