- 0:00Speaker 1: Hey, everybuddy, Welcome to Girls Gone Hallmark.
- 0:03Speaker 2: I'm Megan, and today we are coming to you not
- 0:06Speaker 2: with a review of a new.
- 0:08Speaker 1: Movie, but with a new to you.
- 0:10Speaker 2: Review, and that is our review of Winter and Veil,
- 0:14Speaker 2: starring Lacy Shubert and Tyler Hines. This is a re
- 0:19Speaker 2: release of a Patreon episode that we released over a
- 0:23Speaker 2: year ago. We decided, since Wendy's traveling this week and
- 0:26Speaker 2: we are not going to be reviewing either of this
- 0:28Speaker 2: weekend's newest movies, we didn't want to leave you hanging,
- 0:31Speaker 2: so we pulled this one from the Patreon vault. We
- 0:34Speaker 2: also wanted to let you know that you'll hear us
- 0:35Speaker 2: reference Tyler Hines Month. That was a feature we were
- 0:38Speaker 2: doing on Patreon. We don't currently have a Girl's Gone
- 0:41Speaker 2: Hallmark tier on Patreon, but we'd consider bringing one back
- 0:45Speaker 2: if there was a demand for it.
- 0:47Speaker 1: Let us know. Enjoy this review of Winter and Veil.
- 1:07Speaker 2: Welcome to a bonus episode of Girls Gone Hallmark. I'm Megan,
- 1:10Speaker 2: I'm Wendy, and welcome to Tyler Hines Month. That means
- 1:15Speaker 2: that every month we're gonna be choosing a new dude
- 1:18Speaker 2: of Hallmark and diving into their back catalog with one
- 1:22Speaker 2: of their previous Hallmark movies, and then something outside of
- 1:25Speaker 2: the Hallmark world. You know, our first month had to
- 1:28Speaker 2: be Tyler Freakin Hines.
- 1:31Speaker 1: I mean, yeah, I'd have to quit if it wasn't.
- 1:35Speaker 2: So we started with Winter and Veil, a movie that
- 1:39Speaker 2: neither of us thought we had seen. One of us
- 1:41Speaker 2: was wrong that stars Tyler Hines and Lacy Shabert, which
- 1:43Speaker 2: feels like a strong choice right out of the gate.
- 1:46Speaker 1: Well, okay, so first of all, I want to talk
- 1:49Speaker 1: about how I don't know when I've watched this movie.
- 1:53Speaker 1: Upon rewatching it, I was like, oh, yeah, I've seen
- 1:55Speaker 1: this movie. When would I have set down in the
- 1:59Speaker 1: year twenty twenty and watched this movie?
- 2:02Speaker 2: Well, it's a twenty twenty movie, right.
- 2:05Speaker 1: It came out on January fourth, twenty twenty, so it
- 2:09Speaker 1: was part of the Like, it wasn't called New Year
- 2:12Speaker 1: New Movies, it was called Winterfest. Yeah, and we were
- 2:16Speaker 1: not reviewing Hallmark movies at that time.
- 2:19Speaker 2: No, not even close. The podcast didn't even exist at
- 2:21Speaker 2: that point. So who knows. Maybe you came across a
- 2:25Speaker 2: lasyshi Bearer movie on the guide and clicked play. I
- 2:30Speaker 2: no idea, nor perhaps you watched it may have replayed
- 2:34Speaker 2: last year when we were doing Hallmark movies and you
- 2:36Speaker 2: just sat down and dug in.
- 2:39Speaker 1: And I might have just been like, oh, Tyler Hines
- 2:41Speaker 1: because he was in one of the very first movies
- 2:44Speaker 1: that we watched on the twelve date of Christmas date
- 2:47Speaker 1: of Christmas, and I was like, who is this hottie?
- 2:50Speaker 1: And then I might have like looked up other Tyler
- 2:53Speaker 1: Heines movies. So maybe that's why I've seen it. So
- 2:56Speaker 1: let me give the synopsis for the listeners. Are you okay?
- 3:01Speaker 1: Chelsea inherits a house in Veil, She meets Owen and
- 3:05Speaker 1: gets a much needed break together, they put on Strudelefest
- 3:09Speaker 1: to highlight the charm of old Veil, starring Lacey Shabayer
- 3:13Speaker 1: and Tyler Hines. You did it, I know.
- 3:17Speaker 2: So let's hop into some news and notes about this movie.
- 3:21Speaker 1: Okay.
- 3:22Speaker 2: The majority of the movie was filmed in Canada, specifically
- 3:25Speaker 2: Calgary and Alberta, including the tubing scene and Uncle Grady's home,
- 3:30Speaker 2: but there were a few establishing shots and street scenes
- 3:33Speaker 2: shot in Veil.
- 3:35Speaker 1: Have you ever been to Veil? I have not? Okay,
- 3:38Speaker 1: me neither, So I was wondering about this because I
- 3:42Speaker 1: had also read that there were some the last two
- 3:44Speaker 1: days of filming were shot in Veil, but I've never
- 3:48Speaker 1: been to Veil. I don't know if there's like a
- 3:50Speaker 1: new part of Veil and an old part of Veil. Like,
- 3:53Speaker 1: I have no idea how true to the story is at.
- 3:55Speaker 2: In a minute, we're gonna fact check some of the
- 3:58Speaker 2: winter in Veil.
- 3:59Speaker 1: Oh, exciting, exciting. My note here says that the last
- 4:04Speaker 1: two days of filming were December fourth and December fifth
- 4:08Speaker 1: of twenty nineteen, and this movie was released on January fourth,
- 4:13Speaker 1: twenty twenty. Talk about a tight turnaround.
- 4:17Speaker 2: Yeah, which is not unusual. They started filming obviously in
- 4:20Speaker 2: November twenty nineteen.
- 4:21Speaker 1: And whipped it out. Here's what I like. Well, Nope,
- 4:24Speaker 1: not gonna do that. Let's nope.
- 4:26Speaker 2: No, I have reasons why I like that particular type turnaround.
- 4:30Speaker 2: We'll talk about that in a minute. The director wanted
- 4:34Speaker 2: a skiing scene in the movie, but Lazy can't ski,
- 4:37Speaker 2: so they went tubing instead.
- 4:39Speaker 1: Oh, I have some thoughts on that scene. That's funny.
- 4:42Speaker 1: That's funny that she can't. Well, he wanted them like
- 4:45Speaker 1: a downhill skiing situation. Evidently that scene was you know,
- 4:50Speaker 1: Vail is known for its skiing, so they wanted them skiing.
- 4:54Speaker 1: Either she can't ski or isn't a strong skier. Skiing
- 4:57Speaker 1: is not the sort of thing you can pick up
- 4:58Speaker 1: in a day. Snowboarding. I think you could fake it skiing.
- 5:02Speaker 1: It's hard, you're been skiing? Yeah, yeah, I was on
- 5:05Speaker 1: my ass the entire time. Yeah, I'm not a good skier.
- 5:08Speaker 2: So I could see how that they wouldn't have had
- 5:11Speaker 2: time to train her as a skier and then have
- 5:13Speaker 2: her be strong enough to be filmed.
- 5:15Speaker 1: Well, they trained her as a dancer and she danced
- 5:17Speaker 1: in the Christmas Waltz, so you know enough. Maybe don't
- 5:20Speaker 1: discount Lacey and what she can and can't do fair enough.
- 5:25Speaker 1: The director of Maybe Wes Terry Ingram, and he just
- 5:29Speaker 1: recently directed The Wedding Veil, which stars Lisa. I have
- 5:34Speaker 1: a note about the Wedding Veil. Oh okay.
- 5:37Speaker 2: At three point three nine four million viewers, it had
- 5:42Speaker 2: more than any Hallmark movie in twenty twenty one get
- 5:46Speaker 2: out and it's only January eleventh, So Lacey is commanding
- 5:51Speaker 2: those views.
- 5:52Speaker 1: She is the Queen of homework. I think Candice should
- 5:56Speaker 1: sit down. Has been dethroned. I think, so wow, that's amazing.
- 6:02Speaker 1: So I have an article from veil Ski excuse me,
- 6:06Speaker 1: from Veilski shop dot com that is titled ask a
- 6:09Speaker 1: local fact checking hallmarks movie Winter in a Veil.
- 6:13Speaker 2: So I've got some I've got some statements, and I
- 6:16Speaker 2: want you to tell me if they are true or false.
- 6:18Speaker 1: Okay.
- 6:19Speaker 2: The opening scenes of the movie highlight aerial views of
- 6:22Speaker 2: Veil Village.
- 6:24Speaker 1: I'm gonna say yes, because they filmed there.
- 6:27Speaker 2: Yes, the iconic covered bridge and Bell Tower are distinctly
- 6:31Speaker 2: Veil Village. You cannot park on Main Street and Veil
- 6:34Speaker 2: Village unless you are unloading your vehicle.
- 6:37Speaker 1: Am I supposed to say? True or false? Yes? Uh?
- 6:40Speaker 1: I don't Oh my gosh, I don't know. True. It's true.
- 6:44Speaker 2: Main Street is reserved for pedestrians and skiers only. Okay,
- 6:48Speaker 2: so that's trucks there are for deliveries. Okay, so in
- 6:51Speaker 2: the movie that's kind of a wink and a nod
- 6:54Speaker 2: to actual Veil Village rules.
- 6:57Speaker 1: Then yes, ma'am. True or false.
- 7:01Speaker 2: There is an Adlevis Mountaintop mountaintop restaurant in Veil.
- 7:05Speaker 1: I'm gonna say sure. False. Many incredible restaurants and stores
- 7:09Speaker 1: in Veil.
- 7:10Speaker 2: The Adelvis Mountaintop restaurant is not one of them, and
- 7:13Speaker 2: the building of that restaurant is not located in town,
- 7:16Speaker 2: so there's not like a big German influence in Veil.
- 7:21Speaker 1: They do have an.
- 7:21Speaker 2: Annual Octoberfest celebration.
- 7:23Speaker 1: Oh so maybe I don't know. True or false. There
- 7:26Speaker 1: is an annual Strudel Festival. God, I hope not false. False.
- 7:31Speaker 2: However, there is an annual Octoberfest celebration, Okay, true or false.
- 7:35Speaker 2: Many of us have more than one job in town.
- 7:37Speaker 1: I would say yes, probably especially snow season and not
- 7:41Speaker 1: snow season winter and summer. Yes, several people have a
- 7:45Speaker 1: nine to five and then work in hospitality in the
- 7:47Speaker 1: evenings or on weekends.
- 7:49Speaker 2: Oh interesting, that's interesting. True or false. We have horse
- 7:52Speaker 2: drawn carriages for tourists in Veil Village.
- 7:55Speaker 1: I would probably say yes. False. It would be romantic
- 7:58Speaker 1: but oh so messy. Scene of Lacy and Tyler having
- 8:01Speaker 1: an evening horse drawn carriage was not filmed in Vale Village.
- 8:05Speaker 1: M true or false.
- 8:07Speaker 2: Vale has brightly colored gondola cars true false. The cars
- 8:12Speaker 2: that were in the movie were not from Vail. The
- 8:15Speaker 2: oneson Veil or Silver that was filmed in Canada.
- 8:19Speaker 1: I don't even remember those cars in that in the movie.
- 8:22Speaker 2: They only see that when Lacy arrives to meet Tyler
- 8:25Speaker 2: and they're gonna ride up to.
- 8:27Speaker 1: The top to go to me. Oh oh yeah, yea, yeah,
- 8:30Speaker 1: yeah yeah yeah.
- 8:30Speaker 2: Okay, to or false there's snow tubing at the top
- 8:32Speaker 2: of Vale Mountain.
- 8:33Speaker 1: I'm gonna say false. It is actually true.
- 8:38Speaker 2: They have Adventure Ridge, but that's not where they filmed
- 8:41Speaker 2: the tubing scene in this movie that was filmed in Canada.
- 8:44Speaker 2: I have one more little news and note. Okay, Uncle
- 8:48Speaker 2: Grady's Chalet is actually a private home located in Bragg Creek.
- 8:52Speaker 2: And all I gotta say to that is, yikes. That
- 8:55Speaker 2: house was not attractive from the outside or the inside.
- 8:59Speaker 2: Oh I loved it from the outside.
- 9:02Speaker 1: Oh my god, are you kidding me?
- 9:04Speaker 2: It was so maybe just the scenery gross. All right,
- 9:09Speaker 2: let's let's talk first impressions. Okay, my first impression is
- 9:14Speaker 2: this maybe one of my favorite winter Hallmark movies.
- 9:18Speaker 1: Oh my god. Oh no, okay, here we go. No,
- 9:22Speaker 1: it's not that bad. My first impression is Strudel is
- 9:25Speaker 1: the most unsexy topic ever. It looks so good. No,
- 9:30Speaker 1: and you know what I kept you know, in Hamilton,
- 9:32Speaker 1: the scene between Hamilton and Washington and he keeps calling
- 9:37Speaker 1: him son, and Hamilton goes, call me son one more time? Right,
- 9:41Speaker 1: do you know what I'm talking about? Of course, all
- 9:43Speaker 1: I could think about is say strudel one more time?
- 9:47Speaker 3: Like, not Hamilton, it looks so delicious, though, Oh no, no, no,
- 9:55Speaker 3: The strudel was the worst part of it.
- 9:57Speaker 1: Strudele. The word strudel if I it evokes feelings like
- 10:03Speaker 1: panties or must be or like stuff like that. Like
- 10:07Speaker 1: it for some reason really grosses me out. I'm so
- 10:10Speaker 1: sorry to hear that. Was there anything you liked about
- 10:14Speaker 1: this movie? I did. I did not hate this movie.
- 10:16Speaker 1: I did like this movie. I loved Tyler and Lacey
- 10:20Speaker 1: together in this I just think they're great together on screen.
- 10:25Speaker 1: Now we're not reviewing Lacey because this is Tyler freaking
- 10:28Speaker 1: Hein's month. I'm trying to compare. In contrast, I did
- 10:33Speaker 1: think that Tyler and Lacy had great chemistry, but I
- 10:37Speaker 1: think he had so much better chemistry with the girl
- 10:42Speaker 1: in an Unexpected Christmas And I can't remember her name
- 10:46Speaker 1: right now, Beth Bethany Joy. Yes, like that was over
- 10:51Speaker 1: the top. Fireworks. For me, this is like a nice
- 10:54Speaker 1: sweet like kind I have, like some chemistry. I just
- 10:58Speaker 1: you know, it's hard to like watch these other movies
- 11:01Speaker 1: when like you think the actor or the actress is
- 11:05Speaker 1: so good in one film, and you're comparing it to another,
- 11:07Speaker 1: don't you think of course? Okay, so I did like
- 11:11Speaker 1: them in this movie.
- 11:12Speaker 2: One thing I liked is that this movie just has
- 11:15Speaker 2: a classic love story progression. There's no manufactured problem in
- 11:21Speaker 2: their way. Even when they meet, there's a small hitch,
- 11:24Speaker 2: it's resolved. Their antagonism is resolved very quickly.
- 11:29Speaker 1: And even they have there is a problem of course
- 11:32Speaker 1: in the end stops them from immediately getting together, but
- 11:35Speaker 1: that problem isn't a result of a miscommunication or not
- 11:39Speaker 1: talking about it.
- 11:39Speaker 2: They're very clear about what's happening.
- 11:42Speaker 1: And it's resolved.
- 11:43Speaker 2: And I enjoyed the lack of shenanigans.
- 11:48Speaker 1: Yeah that's my biggest pet, pevious shenanigan. So this was
- 11:51Speaker 1: This was nice. However, I'll wait till get wished for it. No,
- 11:56Speaker 1: I wasn't. I was kind of bored. The whole strudle
- 11:59Speaker 1: thing was way too much, way too long. I love
- 12:02Speaker 1: the idea of like we're gonna throw this like you know, festival,
- 12:07Speaker 1: Like that's fun. But strudel would not bring all the
- 12:11Speaker 1: boys to the playground, you know what I mean? Make
- 12:16Speaker 1: it something else, like I don't know, Like can you okay,
- 12:20Speaker 1: if your local town had a strudle fest, would you
- 12:23Speaker 1: would that be like something you guys would go to.
- 12:27Speaker 2: We're not real festival people, but you know there's a
- 12:29Speaker 2: corn fest. There's there's lots of fat strawberry. I know
- 12:33Speaker 2: there's and do we go to them? No we don't,
- 12:36Speaker 2: so I just attend.
- 12:38Speaker 1: I don't, but I don't totally buy that a annual
- 12:42Speaker 1: strudel competition is going to bring tourists to town. It
- 12:46Speaker 1: maybe if I'm already in town and there was you know,
- 12:50Speaker 1: it's like one of those things like the hotels, like, oh,
- 12:52Speaker 1: there's this strudel fest happening down at the Idlevice restaurant.
- 12:56Speaker 1: Gotate some struds? You might go to it, but yeah,
- 13:00Speaker 1: might not.
- 13:00Speaker 2: You know, you know, chili is like the least sexy
- 13:03Speaker 2: food ever, and I hear constantly about chili cookoffs that
- 13:07Speaker 2: people are attending.
- 13:08Speaker 1: So I were underestimating the masses. Neither would I.
- 13:11Speaker 2: But there listen, if you are listening to this episode,
- 13:15Speaker 2: Please leave a message in Patreon or you can DM
- 13:19Speaker 2: us or email us and tell me if you would
- 13:21Speaker 2: ever attend a strudelefest. They're like, hey, also, you don't
- 13:25Speaker 2: all live fifteen minutes from Disneyland, so I know, well, what.
- 13:29Speaker 1: Does Disneyland have Strudel?
- 13:31Speaker 3: Oh?
- 13:31Speaker 1: Maybe I know. Your point is you might, right, I
- 13:36Speaker 1: don't know. Let's find out on February fit. I live
- 13:38Speaker 1: in a tourist destination where there are a number of
- 13:40Speaker 1: things to do and not everybody does. Yeah, I know,
- 13:42Speaker 1: but in Veil, if you're going to Veil, you're there
- 13:46Speaker 1: for a skien like trip, right, That's why people go
- 13:50Speaker 1: to Vail, Right, what else do they do there, like
- 13:53Speaker 1: in the summertime? Do they do anything in the summertime?
- 13:55Speaker 3: Is that?
- 13:55Speaker 2: I think there's mountains Festival, Like, Oh, I don't know,
- 13:58Speaker 2: but there's probably like outdoor highing and fishing and that
- 14:01Speaker 2: sort of thing that seems to be the summer events
- 14:04Speaker 2: of mountain towns.
- 14:06Speaker 1: I just strudle. You could still ride to the top of.
- 14:09Speaker 2: The gondola in the summer and see the views. Anyway,
- 14:12Speaker 2: Wendy didn't like Strudell, but I loved the snow. We're
- 14:15Speaker 2: in the middle of New Year New Movies, formerly called Winterfest,
- 14:18Speaker 2: and these movies are not wintery movies, which is okay
- 14:20Speaker 2: because last year we got hit over the head with winter.
- 14:23Speaker 2: But I did enjoy it was snowy. It was clearly cold.
- 14:26Speaker 2: We've got Tyler's shoving his hands into his pockets as
- 14:28Speaker 2: opposed to pushing up his jacket sleeves. You can see
- 14:31Speaker 2: their breath. There is actual snow on the ground around them.
- 14:36Speaker 1: I loved it. Uh Okay.
- 14:38Speaker 2: I didn't have to do tight shots with fake snow
- 14:40Speaker 2: around them because they were clearly in the snow.
- 14:43Speaker 1: No, I know, and I can't appreciate that when we're
- 14:47Speaker 1: not watching a Christmas movie with fake snow that was
- 14:49Speaker 1: filmed in July. So yeah, there is like this like
- 14:53Speaker 1: little sweet spot of yes, you're gonna get real weather,
- 14:56Speaker 1: you know. And I can appreciate that, appreciate that. And
- 15:00Speaker 1: I'm telling you, I really appreciated the snow tubing scene.
- 15:04Speaker 1: I thought it was so fun and natural and organic,
- 15:07Speaker 1: like they really did that. She was a little bit
- 15:10Speaker 1: freaking out, like and I if you watch the full scene,
- 15:14Speaker 1: which I rewound it to watch it again, when they
- 15:17Speaker 1: get down to the bottom. Tyler like gets out of
- 15:20Speaker 1: his like uh tube and like kind of eats it
- 15:25Speaker 1: a little bit. It's really funny. I was like, I wonder,
- 15:28Speaker 1: I wonder if that was a choice or if that
- 15:30Speaker 1: was like really did he slip in the snow or
- 15:32Speaker 1: like what happened? It was funny.
- 15:34Speaker 2: It's awkward to get out of a tube. I loved
- 15:36Speaker 2: that footage too. I totally would have been the same
- 15:39Speaker 2: screaming person going down the hill. You can't help it.
- 15:42Speaker 2: The actual tubing park in Canada where they were filming
- 15:45Speaker 2: wasn't open yet, so they improvised. But I just I
- 15:48Speaker 2: thought it was very fun and natural and well shot,
- 15:52Speaker 2: and I liked that there were clo slips on their
- 15:54Speaker 2: face so it wasn't just like sending two random people.
- 15:56Speaker 1: Down a hill and yeah, footage behind them, I was wondered.
- 16:00Speaker 1: I was like, was Lacey holding the camera like on
- 16:02Speaker 1: that and then he was holding it on her like
- 16:04Speaker 1: an iPhone.
- 16:05Speaker 2: Shot where they got GoPros on their jacket on their
- 16:08Speaker 2: heads and yeah something.
- 16:11Speaker 1: After that, they did a little fun little snowball fight
- 16:14Speaker 1: scene too, which I liked because again, real snow, not
- 16:17Speaker 1: like perfectly formed cotton snowballs that they picked off the ground. Yeah, huh.
- 16:22Speaker 1: I thought that was really cute. And there was another
- 16:26Speaker 1: scene and I was getting confused thinking that it was
- 16:29Speaker 1: the same scene, but it's not. But they're like on
- 16:32Speaker 1: skis and they're like walking somewhere. Oh they're cross country skiing. Yeah,
- 16:36Speaker 1: I mean it looks painful. Like I was like, oh,
- 16:38Speaker 1: that is so labor intensive. I would never want to
- 16:40Speaker 1: do that. But she's like, I'm running, I'm gonna beat you.
- 16:44Speaker 1: It was funny, and I thought like they must have
- 16:46Speaker 1: ad libed that part because it was cute and funny
- 16:49Speaker 1: and quirky. There's no way that that was written.
- 16:53Speaker 2: No, I can I thought they had lots of natural
- 16:56Speaker 2: chemistry together. Good acting, good acting, What did you wish for? Okay,
- 17:03Speaker 2: this is one of those movies where Tyler Hines starts
- 17:06Speaker 2: out as an asshole and then he becomes the lovable guy.
- 17:10Speaker 1: Yeah, because he was not very kind to her. Obviously
- 17:13Speaker 1: he knew that she was not from the town. He
- 17:17Speaker 1: could have been a little more like, oh hey, not
- 17:21Speaker 1: a condescending jerk, you know. Yeah. That bugged me at
- 17:26Speaker 1: the beginning, so I didn't like that, But then I
- 17:29Speaker 1: did like when he came to the house and was
- 17:33Speaker 1: very helpful with the repairs around the house, and they
- 17:36Speaker 1: were like funny about it. You know.
- 17:38Speaker 2: Yeah, he kind of dropped that you're an outsider thing
- 17:40Speaker 2: pretty quickly. He apologized very shortly after that for his attitude,
- 17:45Speaker 2: which I liked, and I liked that he was like,
- 17:48Speaker 2: it's freezing in that house. You can't stay there. He
- 17:50Speaker 2: wasn't like, oh little city girl can't handle the mountains.
- 17:54Speaker 2: He was like, it's not reasonable for someone to stay
- 17:56Speaker 2: in the house without electricity.
- 17:58Speaker 1: Yeah, here's a question. This is what I was thinking.
- 18:01Speaker 1: So she like just got the keys at the house
- 18:03Speaker 1: that day, Right, they go out and they come home
- 18:06Speaker 1: after dark. Would you not be scared shitless to go
- 18:09Speaker 1: into this house after dark all by yourself, never stayed
- 18:11Speaker 1: there before? Yes, yeah, right, And it was like, yeah,
- 18:16Speaker 1: that's terrifying. But that they they pull up and like
- 18:19Speaker 1: all the lights are on inside the house, and I
- 18:21Speaker 1: was like, okay, like that's not scary going into if
- 18:24Speaker 1: all the lights are on. But still I was like,
- 18:26Speaker 1: I know, I think I might have stayed in a
- 18:28Speaker 1: hotel or something like holding upstairs. Yeah, she was just
- 18:33Speaker 1: there and they left, you know, Yeah, she just grabs
- 18:36Speaker 1: a bunch of blankets from that chest downstairs and piles
- 18:38Speaker 1: them on her. Bit. Yeah, and have you ever started
- 18:40Speaker 1: a fire on your own, like in an old fireplace
- 18:44Speaker 1: like that? Like I wouldn't know what to do. I
- 18:47Speaker 1: don't even know like how to open yeah, right, I
- 18:52Speaker 1: mean anyway, what I wished for was that they just
- 18:55Speaker 1: don't don't You don't have to always make the guy
- 18:58Speaker 1: like this antagonist, like he could be a normal guy.
- 19:01Speaker 1: They could have a normal encounter. They don't have to
- 19:03Speaker 1: have like a confrontational one. It just drives me crazy.
- 19:07Speaker 2: Well, and I don't have a lot of things that
- 19:09Speaker 2: I wished for, But in that scene, I think it's
- 19:11Speaker 2: very out of character because every other person we meet
- 19:14Speaker 2: is so kind and so commedy. The realtors like, you
- 19:17Speaker 2: call me no matter what you need. I don't remember
- 19:20Speaker 2: anybody's name. But the owner of the restaurant is so
- 19:22Speaker 2: lovely to her when he meets her, and the waitress
- 19:25Speaker 2: is so lovely when they meet in the grocery store,
- 19:28Speaker 2: and the townspeople are all wonderful to her. And so
- 19:30Speaker 2: we have this one guy who comes from this town
- 19:32Speaker 2: where everyone's so lovely, and he's kind of nasty to
- 19:36Speaker 2: the newcomer who okay, doesn't understand the parking rules, and
- 19:39Speaker 2: all you had to say was like, loops, you don't
- 19:40Speaker 2: want a ticket, might want to move your car. I
- 19:42Speaker 2: did think that didn't jive with what we're supposed to
- 19:46Speaker 2: feel about this town that she then falls in love with, right,
- 19:50Speaker 2: h a goree.
- 19:51Speaker 1: Did you see that we have more wishes? Well? Yeah,
- 19:56Speaker 1: one I wrote down less strudl like I've already established
- 19:59Speaker 1: it a like there was too much baking the strudel,
- 20:03Speaker 1: like rolling the dough like stop, so I get it,
- 20:07Speaker 1: I get it.
- 20:08Speaker 2: I hated it and all what I was just gonna say,
- 20:12Speaker 2: this is maybe a movie that could have benefited from
- 20:14Speaker 2: an additional plot line.
- 20:17Speaker 1: Uh, agreed, It was too too much of it. There
- 20:19Speaker 1: was too much strutal content for me. I also hate
- 20:25Speaker 1: when our wish for like I don't like, don't make
- 20:28Speaker 1: this like be like the push and pull of like
- 20:31Speaker 1: she leaves her job. She clearly quits her job and
- 20:34Speaker 1: moves to veil like don't have this, like oh did
- 20:39Speaker 1: I do the right thing? I need to go back,
- 20:41Speaker 1: like she can't do that work and veil just like
- 20:44Speaker 1: he said, Right, did he not say like, you can't
- 20:47Speaker 1: you do event planning here?
- 20:49Speaker 2: Yeah, Like Veil, people are having weddings there, People are
- 20:52Speaker 2: having big events there. It is a destination. There are
- 20:55Speaker 2: definitely events to be planned there. Whether she's working for
- 20:58Speaker 2: the town or not. Will people go to Veil and
- 21:01Speaker 2: they need their events planned. Also, her boss kind of sucked,
- 21:04Speaker 2: like she quit, she didn't want to do this, and
- 21:07Speaker 2: then what kind.
- 21:08Speaker 1: Of asshole are you that you call her and beg
- 21:10Speaker 1: her to come back because you made a bad hire?
- 21:12Speaker 1: Yeah exactly, and she went back. Bad mistake. Who moves
- 21:17Speaker 1: who leaves their life in Los Angeles? I think that's
- 21:20Speaker 1: where they were supposed to be, and then moves to
- 21:22Speaker 1: Colorado and then moves back. Come on, that's it? Did
- 21:27Speaker 1: you see that? I have one? Just one, okay, and
- 21:31Speaker 1: it's about the strudel. When they were making the strudle,
- 21:35Speaker 1: they took a ton of time to like make the
- 21:38Speaker 1: dough for it, right, yeah, and in a bowl was
- 21:41Speaker 1: like sliced apples and like those things would have turned
- 21:44Speaker 1: so bround before they put it in the street. All like,
- 21:48Speaker 1: come on.
- 21:49Speaker 2: Also, when they're making the strudel, at one point they
- 21:52Speaker 2: check to see if it's thin enough by sticking a mentor.
- 21:55Speaker 1: Don't to be filled? People touch that thing all days.
- 22:00Speaker 1: I know, I was like what I could feel? How
- 22:03Speaker 1: sticky that menu was? You know that menu? Sticky? Yeah? Gross?
- 22:07Speaker 1: Gross gross.
- 22:09Speaker 2: I have a couple When Tyler and his contractor Buddy
- 22:12Speaker 2: arrive at the house, Lucy comes downstairs. She's like, oh
- 22:14Speaker 2: my gosh, I overslept and he was. She goes, what
- 22:16Speaker 2: time is it? And he's like, it's six and she goes,
- 22:19Speaker 2: oh in LA, first thing means ten does it?
- 22:22Speaker 3: No?
- 22:22Speaker 1: It doesn't.
- 22:23Speaker 2: Is there any person in business who thinks ten am
- 22:26Speaker 2: is first thing in LA? Now, in New York, the
- 22:28Speaker 2: business day starts later, but it starts earlier in California
- 22:32Speaker 2: because we're on.
- 22:32Speaker 1: The West coast.
- 22:33Speaker 2: Yeah, Like, if somebody's the first thing to you, I
- 22:35Speaker 2: would think eight at the latest, Yeah, for sure, specially
- 22:39Speaker 2: someone in the construction business. Yeah, sometimes even seven point thirty. Right, Okay.
- 22:46Speaker 2: They go to this fancy chef's restaurant and she makes
- 22:50Speaker 2: these special hot chocolates for them. And you know this
- 22:53Speaker 2: was filmed in twenty nineteen because immediately thereafter we've got
- 22:57Speaker 2: hot chocolate bomb mania.
- 22:59Speaker 1: Sweeping the nation.
- 23:00Speaker 2: This seemed so novel and Wow, what happens when you
- 23:04Speaker 2: bore the.
- 23:04Speaker 1: Hot liquid over it?
- 23:06Speaker 2: Now that night you can get it on every shelf
- 23:08Speaker 2: in every grocery store and down.
- 23:10Speaker 1: Yeah, that was funny. That was really fun And I
- 23:14Speaker 1: was watching them closely too, like it did look like
- 23:17Speaker 1: they made an actual like uh hot chocolate like because
- 23:21Speaker 1: it was like steaming. But then like I was like,
- 23:24Speaker 1: are they really going to take a drink of that?
- 23:26Speaker 1: And then of course, like continuity, you could see like
- 23:28Speaker 1: there would be another shot and the drink was like
- 23:30Speaker 1: half empty and then it'd be back to full.
- 23:32Speaker 2: And yeah, I have one more. During Striddlefast at the restaurant,
- 23:38Speaker 2: Lacy and Tyler dance and I think there might be
- 23:42Speaker 2: music when they start dancing, but halfway through there's a
- 23:44Speaker 2: lot and they're dancing and all people are dancing and
- 23:47Speaker 2: there's just kind of the sound of things happening in
- 23:50Speaker 2: the restaurant.
- 23:51Speaker 1: But there's no music. Oh that's funny. They're just swam
- 23:54Speaker 1: back and forth no music. Then I have somebody the
- 23:58Speaker 1: editor was like, ooh, sorry about to put music over that.
- 24:01Speaker 1: That's funny. I didn't notice that, but I did notice,
- 24:04Speaker 1: like they're gonna have their like dancing in that back
- 24:07Speaker 1: room the restaurant. That stuff. Yeah, I don't know. It's
- 24:12Speaker 1: out in the back of the restaurant in the alleyway.
- 24:15Speaker 1: I don't know. So I don't know. What did you
- 24:19Speaker 1: rate this movie? I gave it three stars. It's too
- 24:23Speaker 1: much strudal for me. Oh, three stars is not bad,
- 24:25Speaker 1: though it's a c I know. I'm sorry. I mean,
- 24:29Speaker 1: I still think Tyler is hot and I hate his
- 24:32Speaker 1: hair at this length, but like, I just it's too
- 24:35Speaker 1: much sort. I didn't mind this drudle.
- 24:37Speaker 2: I don't know that I'll ever see a Tyler Hayness
- 24:40Speaker 2: movie that's less than a four star movie for me,
- 24:41Speaker 2: Tyler plus lazy four stars.
- 24:44Speaker 1: I just had hard eye for it. Well, I'm glad,
- 24:48Speaker 1: and you know what's funny. Oh, I couldn't help but
- 24:50Speaker 1: think like during this movie, like it came out in
- 24:53Speaker 1: January fourth, twenty twenty, like this shit was just getting
- 24:57Speaker 1: ready to hit the fan, you know. Yeah, it's just like,
- 25:00Speaker 1: oh what we didn't know back then.
