Transcript
- 0:00It's most things, Kenobi and don't try it, Anakin.
- 0:04We always have the high ground. Hi everyone, welcome to another
- 0:20episode of Most Things Kenobi, a podcast about Obi Wan Kenobi and
- 0:24all things Star Wars. I'm your host, Leanne.
- 0:27And I'm your host, Lauren. And before we get started, we
- 0:31have a special shout out to our dear friend Hannah, who sent the
- 0:36loveliest message to us and it literally stopped me in my
- 0:41tracks. It was like, oh wow, that's
- 0:44that's really, really special what her message was.
- 0:48We won't say what it is, but. Yeah, keep it private.
- 0:52But we just wanted to say hello, Hannah.
- 0:54Thank you for listening to our show, and we're sorry you're
- 0:58going through a rough patch, but we send you lots and lots and
- 1:00lots of love, and we're glad that you found our podcast and
- 1:05we're glad you're here and part of our little family.
- 1:07Truly that your message was unexpected and kind, and if our
- 1:12podcast brings happiness to anyone, then we must be doing
- 1:15something right. Yeah, that makes everything
- 1:21worthwhile, honestly. I mean, yes.
- 1:23We've, we've always said we would do this anyway just 'cause
- 1:26you and I love chatting about Star Wars together.
- 1:28But when we get messages like this that, you know, we have a
- 1:31positive impact on someone else's life, that is just, Yep,
- 1:35the best kind of message. So thank you, Hannah, and
- 1:40sending you lots of good energy and hugs.
- 1:43On to the main course. And this is special.
- 1:49Yeah, it is special. It's different.
- 1:52Yeah, and we have to thank our our friend and patron listener
- 1:56Ben, who is just such a champion of our show.
- 2:00He's a delight, yes. He was telling me how he put our
- 2:05show on in in his workplace and everyone was listening to it
- 2:11together. Just like Ben.
- 2:12You're the best. When you sent me that, I was
- 2:15like, you've got to be kidding me.
- 2:16That's crazy. I don't know.
- 2:20That's cool. Thanks, Ben.
- 2:22It's really. Cool.
- 2:23I thank you for the book he sent us.
- 2:26It's part of a collection 'cause I have the Leia one that was
- 2:29gifted to me by a different friend, not a well, not yeah,
- 2:32they're not a patron, but that's OK.
- 2:36Not to call them out, but like. We have friends who aren't
- 2:39patriots. Yeah, that's correct.
- 2:40Yeah. Yeah, that's correct.
- 2:44This one is titled Be More Obi Wan, Navigate Your World with
- 2:48Wit and Wisdom. And it's this little hardback
- 2:51book. And perhaps you all have seen
- 2:52them. And we thought it would be fun
- 2:56to go through some of our favorite parts of this book and
- 3:00talk about all the ways that we should be more like Obi Wan.
- 3:03That will probably never be because it's Obi Wan.
- 3:07And there's a reason why he's the best, because he's
- 3:10everything that we are not. And he's just wittier.
- 3:16He he's just when I'm in stress, I can't sass.
- 3:20I freeze up, I clam up. And he is like always ready with
- 3:24A1 liner, Yeah. And not only that, but the title
- 3:28puts wit before wisdom. I know, I know because it's it's
- 3:36a top tier character trait for him.
- 3:40You know what else I like about this book?
- 3:41They have Clone Wars pictures, like animated.
- 3:43First of all, the Clone Wars one I'm I'm showing it to the class
- 3:47but no one can see is from our one of our favorite episodes.
- 3:52I know the minute I turned to that page I was like, ah, that's
- 3:55excellent. Right.
- 3:56And then there's pictures from the live action from the
- 3:58original trilogy. There's pictures of Leia, of
- 4:01Ray, of Vader, of freaking Ahsoka from the Ahsoka show.
- 4:05So this is a recent book obviously, right?
- 4:08What cracks? Me up huge about this though is
- 4:11the Obi Wan icon that is on every single.
- 4:15Page it's. Oh.
- 4:17A mullet. The mullet, yes, Well, why not?
- 4:22If you're going to be more like Obi Wan, you got to get the hair
- 4:26down. And it's got the little flips
- 4:28like the the roll brush flips at the end.
- 4:32Of the giant roll brush, Yes, hair is.
- 4:37Important. Maybe I could put like a picture
- 4:39of it in the show notes or something like that.
- 4:41So everyone. Gets that would be appropriate
- 4:45this OK so as we get started, I just want to talk about this one
- 4:51like the one that caught me the most because it's so shady.
- 4:56It's shady as hell. It says be more Obi Wan by stop
- 5:04avoiding your problems and it's a picture of Vader.
- 5:16I can't. I love this so much because all
- 5:23the jokes that we and most of the fandom make about like,
- 5:27you're never going to outrun those Skywalkers.
- 5:30Even after they die, you still got to deal with them and then
- 5:34there's always another you have to deal with and it's like stop
- 5:37avoiding your problems. Your Skywalker problems are
- 5:42always right behind. Specifically, the Skywalkers.
- 5:50Yeah, that one cracked me. Up perhaps for context, each
- 5:53chapter is like one page and each chapter has a little phrase
- 5:59it like face your fears. Stop avoiding your problems.
- 6:02Jump in feet first. You know it's this is not like a
- 6:07deep book, but it is a cute book.
- 6:10And honestly, the things that are that are offered in here are
- 6:13very Obi Wan. It could be, yeah.
- 6:15It could be every Jedi really, if you want to, you know, from a
- 6:18certain point of view, which is also in this book.
- 6:21Yes, and they do have like lovely little inside Obi Wan
- 6:25jokes like in the jump in feat first where it says toss off
- 6:28anything that might get in your way like a bulky Jedi.
- 6:31Pro, right? Right.
- 6:34Because why are they wearing them?
- 6:36And because he's his rope, rope drops are epic.
- 6:41They're iconic, honestly. He times it all so, so well.
- 6:46I know. I wonder how many times Ewan had
- 6:48to practice getting that giant robe off his shoulders.
- 6:51That's a great question to ask for anyone who gets to like meet
- 6:54him in a meet and greet. You should ask that question.
- 6:57I'd be. Curious.
- 6:58Ask him how many times he got caught up in the giant bell
- 7:01sleeves. Trying to wield a lightsaber
- 7:05that could burn a hole through it in any turn.
- 7:10Oh my goodness. This is a nice one.
- 7:16Allow yourself to smile in tough times.
- 7:19And the picture next to it is him chained up in Attack of the
- 7:22Clones. He's not smiling in the picture
- 7:29either. He has that deadpan look on his
- 7:31face. Because fucking Anakin, right?
- 7:33Like, yeah. That's when he says good job and
- 7:37he's definitely not smiling enough.
- 7:39But allow yourself to smile in tough times.
- 7:41Sure, you're handcuffed in a dusty arena, surrounded by
- 7:45ferocious peace, but that doesn't mean it's the wrong time
- 7:48to crack and joke. I love this little book, I
- 7:55really do. It's witty.
- 7:56It's very witty. It doesn't take itself
- 7:58seriously. No, it gives good sound advice
- 8:03that and like you might assume this is for kids, but actually
- 8:06it it's not just for kids. They even mention things like
- 8:10following your CE OS instruction.
- 8:14So it's definitely for adults as well.
- 8:16But I like the way they presented in Little Bite Sized.
- 8:20You can read this book in 15 minutes.
- 8:23Yeah, I just, I think there's a little bit of humor in here that
- 8:27I was unintentionally funny to me that Stop avoiding your
- 8:31problems, Anakin. Darth.
- 8:34Vader. There's some humor there.
- 8:36They know what they were doing. Actually, who wrote this?
- 8:38It's her name is. Is there an author listen?
- 8:42Kristen something. Oh.
- 8:44Kelly Knox. Kelly Knox.
- 8:47Oh, OK, Kelly Knox. Maybe, perhaps I shouldn't say
- 8:49she because Kelly can be a a male name too.
- 8:52So written by Kelly Knox. Because I had looked at the
- 8:55back, there's a bunch of like thank yous for people in the
- 9:00Disney publishing office, but I didn't see an author listed.
- 9:04But I guess that's on the the title page inside.
- 9:07You know, something I really appreciate about this book are
- 9:10the giant double layout pages of Ewan McGregor's face.
- 9:14Oh. In all of its glory, with those
- 9:16eyes of his. Yeah.
- 9:19Honestly, this one of him, you know, at Qui God's funeral, he's
- 9:23I know it's a funeral, but he's really pretty.
- 9:25He's very it's the lighting. We've said for years that the
- 9:29lighting favors Obi Wan Kenobi. It does.
- 9:33In animation in live action. In all forms.
- 9:38In art. Yes.
- 9:43Here's another one I like. Stay focus on the present
- 9:45moment. Now this one I could borrow.
- 9:48This one I need to be reminded of.
- 9:50It's hard to stay focused in the present moment.
- 9:53But it's like the most useful way of blocking out what ifs,
- 9:59which I think they even mentioned that on this page,
- 10:01don't they? Because what if scenarios don't
- 10:04really help anybody? You know, you, you need to deal
- 10:08with what is in front of you and not extrapolate into
- 10:13catastrophizing. Is that how you?
- 10:15Say that Yeah, I. Always feel like I mispronounced
- 10:18that word but. Mountains and molehills.
- 10:21Yeah, yeah. But the thing I like about it is
- 10:28staying present in the moment allows you to enjoy yourself
- 10:31more. Yeah.
- 10:33Especially when the moment is a good one.
- 10:35You know you're not forcing yourself to smile through the
- 10:37pain. But really, living in the
- 10:40present means you're living, period.
- 10:42You're not focused on the past, you're not focused on the
- 10:44present. And here it says everyone can
- 10:46practice mindfulness, whether they're a Jedi Master like Qui
- 10:49Gon Jinn or someone without a trace of any Force abilities.
- 10:55That's true. Except them all, Even even that
- 10:59unmistakable whiff of bantha poodoo.
- 11:04Now that was not necessary. We always have to have a poo
- 11:07joke in the store. Or a fart.
- 11:10It's either poo or fart. Always, usually in species.
- 11:15Poodoo. Poodoo that's why I loved Andor.
- 11:19They just said shit. That's right, they didn't
- 11:22sugarcoat anything. It's just shit.
- 11:25Yes, thank you. I could you picture Diego Luna
- 11:29saying Pooju? I would.
- 11:30Like to see him do it. He'd probably get tremendous joy
- 11:33out of doing it, he would chuckle.
- 11:35He would he. Would but you're right though,
- 11:37the two don't mix. The the two don't mix, no.
- 11:43Good God. What's another one?
- 11:45What's another chapter you like? Honestly, I really got kind of
- 11:50struck by the title page for one of the sections, The Keeping
- 11:55Perspective. Oh yeah, yeah.
- 11:57Which is this beautiful picture of you?
- 11:59And. And it says, have you ever been
- 12:01certain someone was the chosen one only to find out they were
- 12:04not who you thought they were? And like, yeah, we know we're
- 12:06talking about Anakin, but we're like, to me, it's more like,
- 12:10well, lately I feel like a lot of the things I feel like I'm
- 12:13certain about, I don't really think I'm right.
- 12:17And that's frightening to have that experience.
- 12:21But also there is like a little bit of a contradictory page
- 12:26later that says to like hold true to your values and your
- 12:29beliefs. So it's like finding that fine
- 12:33line of whether or not you really do need to re evaluate
- 12:36your perspective or is this a time where you really should be
- 12:40holding on to what you believe in?
- 12:42I think that's where as an adult, life gets hard.
- 12:46Yeah, we, we briefly spoke about this before when we were setting
- 12:49up for for this episode that a lot of this is is a little, I
- 12:54don't want to say laughable in the face of reality.
- 12:57It's not They're good. They're good reminders.
- 13:01But often the reason why Obi Wan and most Jedi are so respectable
- 13:07is because it comes easier to them than perhaps say, the ones
- 13:11without use of the force or any sort of self-discipline.
- 13:15But but that page in particular is really true.
- 13:20Think of all the times that you've been, like, duped.
- 13:23Yeah. And how long you went without
- 13:26knowing who that real person was.
- 13:29Yeah, it's scary when that kind of stuff happens.
- 13:31It really disarms you. Yeah, and there was some line in
- 13:35here at some point saying it might feel nice to go into the
- 13:40desert and hit restart on your life.
- 13:42And I was like, yeah, yeah, that does suck.
- 13:45Wait a second, what kind of reset?
- 13:48How severe are they talking? Not dehydration resetting but I
- 13:55get I get to go live in a cave and and meditate for like 40
- 13:58years and wait for Luke to grow up.
- 14:01Just go and dry up like a prune in the desert.
- 14:04But yeah. Then have a spa day and
- 14:06rehydrate yourself. Yeah, some of this is very
- 14:13ponderous. Like you could get, you could
- 14:15get deep if you wanted to. Yeah.
- 14:17And I, I think it's, yeah, I think like you were saying, it's
- 14:23a little bit oversimplifying life, but also maybe sometimes
- 14:27you need things oversimplified if you're an overthinker like I
- 14:31am. Same.
- 14:32Sometimes just getting down to a very simple route sentence.
- 14:37Honestly, the the last page actually brought tears to my
- 14:43eyes. What is?
- 14:44I don't remember the last page. If you hear us flipping through
- 14:47pages, I'll I'll try to edit it out.
- 14:49But forgive us if you hear page flipping.
- 14:51We have it. We have our textbooks here.
- 14:56Oh, is this? Yeah, the last one.
- 14:57Yeah. Don't stoop to their level,
- 14:59which, you know, it's not really that.
- 15:01It's what the line in this section where it says Obi Wan's
- 15:08Obi Wan responds to hate with love and that I was just like,
- 15:15yeah, 'cause that's Anakin says I hate you.
- 15:20And he says, you know, I loved you.
- 15:22That's yeah. And that's the picture that's
- 15:24right next to the the the page itself with the writing that is
- 15:30that's. That's the last, the last
- 15:33spacious Obi one crying. That's usually.
- 15:36Support turns out. But I I think that to end on the
- 15:42sentiment that like meet hatred with love is actually one of the
- 15:48most powerful messages you can get, especially right now, so.
- 15:52Oh God, yeah. And so like think of.
- 15:56This picture. Really puts it in perspective.
- 15:58He's really suffering in this moment and instead of doing
- 16:03what's easy and getting angry and hateful, he just says I
- 16:07loved you. Yeah.
- 16:10It's so beautiful. It is him on Mustafar, sweaty
- 16:18and pretty. And the page before that is the
- 16:23lawless, which is just. Oh God, yeah.
- 16:29I mean between animation and and and live action, I mean there's
- 16:34no difference. Both flawless.
- 16:39So beautiful. Honestly, let's talk about that.
- 16:42The the next, the one before it. Refuse to let anyone else define
- 16:47you honestly. Yeah, that's.
- 16:52Really important, yeah. And it's.
- 16:55Only you have the power to define who you are.
- 16:59Yeah, if you give up what you believe in, then they've already
- 17:03won the fight before you even ignite your lightsaber.
- 17:06Now I can. I can appreciate that.
- 17:10Yeah, well then they say they may strike you down, but at
- 17:15least then it will be on your terms.
- 17:17Absolutely. And that's important.
- 17:19Literally, literally. Oh man, I have so many examples.
- 17:23I'm not gonna say 'cause they're all very personal, but like.
- 17:27Yeah, but to use like the lawless in that example, it's
- 17:31like it's literally the worst moment you can imagine besides
- 17:36what happens on Mustafar. You know, someone you love that
- 17:38you're now powerless to protect if you stick to your beliefs,
- 17:44you have to like, let that person die.
- 17:47It's so this is so classic Obi Wan and so fucking sad.
- 17:52Star Wars is pain, honestly. This is his line.
- 17:57You can kill me, but you can never destroy me.
- 17:59Which is James's favorite line I think.
- 18:01Yes, yes. And what an appropriate phrase
- 18:06to have with the refuse to let anyone else define you.
- 18:08Because in in real terms, not maybe not the word kill.
- 18:13But like, you can. You can talk all the shit you
- 18:17want, but you'll never bring me down.
- 18:19I know who I am. Yeah, because the difference
- 18:23between death and destruction are are so interesting cause
- 18:30death isn't necessarily the worst thing.
- 18:32And that's kind of like the the theme I was playing with in my
- 18:37dark Obi Wan fix. It's like it's not about dying,
- 18:39it's about losing what you believe in that's worse.
- 18:42Yeah, I think losing yourself and losing perhaps maybe what
- 18:48you stand for, trading it for something I could never live
- 18:52with myself. Yeah, there's certain places
- 18:56where you just have to choose to take a stand.
- 18:58Like there, there is a line. Each person, I think most people
- 19:03I'll say, have a line that they will not cross.
- 19:06Right. And Obi Wan's had to face a lot
- 19:10of lines that he never crossed. Never.
- 19:13Yeah. He came close, you know, he got
- 19:16angry. Anger's fine.
- 19:18Anger is they. Even say that in this book a
- 19:20Jedi feel anger and hatred. It's just what they choose to
- 19:24act on that sets them apart. Which I thought was interesting
- 19:26that they said Jedi feel hatred. Well, it's an important reminder
- 19:30as well, because we think that they just go through life.
- 19:32Well, maybe not we, but like there's a there's a part of us
- 19:36that think it's easier for Jedi because they don't feel
- 19:38anything. But that's not the truth.
- 19:40Yeah. They feel everything that we do,
- 19:42everything that you know, non force wielders do same shit that
- 19:46Sith do. It's just there's two, there's
- 19:49two ways here of reacting or acting, I guess depending on
- 19:57which side you're on. But.
- 19:59Yeah. It's a lifelong battle.
- 20:03You know these these simple lines are lifelong struggles for
- 20:08for myself. They are and like the there's
- 20:13the one page that says regroup and reassess when you need to
- 20:16and it's a picture of Qui Gon and he's saying I'm sure another
- 20:20solution will present itself. That is so hard for me.
- 20:25Like I want to believe that but that's so hard to practice for
- 20:30real in real life. It makes me wish I had Qui
- 20:34Gon's. Peace, I know, honestly, be more
- 20:38Qui Gon too while we're at it. Seriously.
- 20:41Yeah, 7 feet tall and totally calm.
- 20:46Carrying an umbrella and a water bottle.
- 20:52But seriously, it's like it goes back to living in the moment, in
- 20:55the present moment. It's hard to do that when
- 20:58you're, you're looking for answers or solutions and stuff.
- 21:01And and that's that delicate balance you have to have of like
- 21:05you have to solve a problem, you need to find a solution.
- 21:09It may not be with you at this moment, but you have to trust in
- 21:13something that it will come. Yeah, I know that's hard.
- 21:17And that's the kind of faith that is difficult to just, you
- 21:23know, trust that the universe has your best interests at
- 21:25heart. It's hard to do that.
- 21:27It's really hard. Yeah, I hope that's true.
- 21:30You know I. Mean, I like to think that way
- 21:32because so far I've gotten this far, right?
- 21:35We all have. We've gotten to this very
- 21:36moment. Yeah.
- 21:38So, but the The thing is, is like over the past probably year
- 21:44and a half, two years almost, I have had to ask myself this
- 21:48question over and over. The question is, will it ever
- 21:52get any better? When does this get easier?
- 21:56And I don't know that I will ever have an answer to that
- 21:59question, but you, you know what?
- 22:03I know what my accountant just said to me yesterday.
- 22:06I don't. I don't think I want to know
- 22:08what anyone dealing with money wanted to say.
- 22:12He was talking about life. He's 73 and he said life doesn't
- 22:17get easier, it just gets different.
- 22:20OK, I can accept that. I can accept that.
- 22:23Listen, I have this page open. I was bookmarking it because I
- 22:26actually really like this one. It kind of ties in.
- 22:29It has a picture of Ahsoka. Oh nice.
- 22:31And it says consider failure just as valuable as success.
- 22:35Now the word valuable is the keyword here.
- 22:40Nobody likes failure. Nobody wants to accept failure.
- 22:43But is it really failure if it's valuable to you if you create
- 22:49success from the failure? Failure sucks, really.
- 22:52Does rejection, anything that can be considered like you lost,
- 22:58you know what I mean? It's terrible.
- 22:59It's horrible. Yeah.
- 23:01But the quote that got me is the one of Ahsoka on the opposite
- 23:04page. It says I like first.
- 23:06Good or bad, they're always memorable.
- 23:08I never thought of it like that. Yeah, yeah, that was
- 23:12interesting. Is that from Oops?
- 23:16The the Ahsoka TV show The TV show the series of Ahsoka.
- 23:21I was going to say, is that from the series?
- 23:23It get. I guess so because I don't
- 23:25remember it from Clone Wars and it is picture it's her from the
- 23:29the series or maybe it's actually maybe it's from the
- 23:34Mandalorian. Yeah, I can't remember, but it
- 23:38was. It's a good quote.
- 23:39Honestly I'm like stopped in my tracks by this picture.
- 23:44What is it? Oh, he's, oh, he's so stunning.
- 23:47He's stunning. It's Ewan.
- 23:49He really is. It's on the Being true to
- 23:51yourself page, and my goodness, that is a gift.
- 23:56If that was myself, I would be true to him as well.
- 24:01I wouldn't you. Yeah, I'll be true to that for
- 24:04the rest of my life. A Jedi like that easy.
- 24:11I also love this line because it's shady as fuck too.
- 24:14I don't know. I, I, I gravitate towards the,
- 24:18the, the, the undercutting compliments.
- 24:20But as Ahsoka Tano learned from Obi Wan Kenobi and Anakin
- 24:24Skywalker time and time again, no one is perfect.
- 24:30Now did she learn that by observation or cuz they told her
- 24:33that she wasn't perfect? Could be a happy blend of both.
- 24:39Even a Jedi can make a mistake. Yeah, he can turn into Darth
- 24:43Vader. I really liked this.
- 24:52Of course, it's in this section about using your wits.
- 24:56Oh yes. Tell me more.
- 24:57I I liked that they made the point here about how you can,
- 25:01you know, make a jest to lighten the mood if if you're kind of in
- 25:05a dark situation, but it does say make jokes to gently, just
- 25:11never to anger as that leads to the dark side, blah, blah, blah.
- 25:15But you know. Right.
- 25:17Ellen DeGeneres used to say if I'm making a joke, we both
- 25:19should be laughing. And I always, I always felt that
- 25:23in my bones, like if only one person's laughing at the joke,
- 25:26it's at the expense of another person.
- 25:30That is very, very true. That's very true.
- 25:34I know some people. Some people handle grief with
- 25:38laughter, and everyone handles grief differently to some
- 25:42degree. It's on a spectrum, like most
- 25:43things, and a lot of people handle tense moments with with
- 25:48laughter, awkwardness with laughter.
- 25:51Yeah, you got to break the ice somehow, right?
- 25:55Shit, now last week I was on a a work training trip for for this
- 26:00whole this trip has been cancelled and rescheduled and
- 26:03cancelled and rescheduled and and you know the whole story,
- 26:06but I was not looking forward to it.
- 26:08I was so sick of it. I was so done with it and I
- 26:10hadn't even done it yet, but I told myself, I'm going to go to
- 26:16this thing. I'm going to make the most of
- 26:18it. And I ended up having a very,
- 26:20very good time to the point where I look back on that week
- 26:24rather fondly. I had a really nice time.
- 26:28And I think that's, you know, some of what is in this book,
- 26:33kind of, you know, it's just a nice thing to remember, like
- 26:38open your mind, have a little chuckle.
- 26:41If things are serious, just laugh your way through it.
- 26:44You know, just kind of don't take it.
- 26:47I I was building it up in my mind like it was going to be
- 26:49that some big thing and it ended up just being fine.
- 26:52You. Know when the whole perspective
- 26:54thing too, that like be open to the possibility that it might
- 26:57actually be nice. It might be.
- 26:59You know what is what is that famous phrase?
- 27:03I can't remember who said it that like, what if it all works
- 27:07out? You know that.
- 27:09Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. We can think of 1000 ways we
- 27:13spend our whole fucking waking lives our our days spent
- 27:18catastrophizing, thinking of the worst case scenario.
- 27:21What if just for 4/4 or five seconds, we spent time thinking
- 27:25about how wonderful it might be? Yeah.
- 27:27Because chances are it will be that and not the, you know, the
- 27:32catastrophe. Of all, hopefully, hopefully,
- 27:34fingers crossed. I mean, hopefully, hopefully
- 27:37things can always go wrong, but they're almost never going to
- 27:40just blow up, you know, hopefully, hopefully.
- 27:46Well, unless you're on the. Death Star and then maybe it
- 27:49will blow up. I didn't think of the Death
- 27:52Star. Both of them.
- 27:53If you're on the Death Star and Luke Skywalker is nearby, it
- 27:57might blow up. Speaking of Death Star, you
- 28:02could also be Mr. Orson Krenik on Scariff and you'd just get
- 28:08Kaboom. Bye bitch.
- 28:11I love the thing. Sucks to suck.
- 28:14They took the time to add a little green dot in his eye
- 28:18right before he write. His kite so that you can.
- 28:21See the Death Star's reflection in his eyes?
- 28:25Oh, Krenik. Oh, Chronic, I do love that he
- 28:29stared at that thing so lovingly, and then his very last
- 28:32moments were spent staring at it, not lovingly.
- 28:35These are the beautiful ironies. What goes around comes around.
- 28:39That's the. Still sexy though.
- 28:42Yes, still sexy, but that makes me think of the Oscar Wilde
- 28:45quote. The good ended happily and the
- 28:49bad ended unhappily. That is what fiction means.
- 28:55That's a good quote too. Who said that?
- 28:58Oscar Wilde. Oh, of course.
- 29:00OK, Very nice. He's got some good ones.
- 29:02Yeah. I think my last favorite one to
- 29:06talk about in in this episode is trust in your own experience.
- 29:11That was a good one. Remember that you've trained
- 29:15hard to get where you are. Trust in yourself and what your
- 29:18teachers have taught you. As Yoda says, already know you
- 29:22that what you need and mind what you have learned save you it
- 29:26can. It's so hard to read him on
- 29:29paper. No, Yoda's difficult.
- 29:32My brain wants to rearrange it, but the point stands.
- 29:35How many times, including last week's work trip, did I say I
- 29:39can do this, I can do this, I've done this 1000 times.
- 29:42I can do this, I can do this, I've prepared for this.
- 29:45I've done worse. I've I've.
- 29:47Made my way through worse and I made it.
- 29:50Yeah, you've survived every day so far.
- 29:53That's it. And you, I think it we're all
- 29:56very quick to discredit our life experiences.
- 29:59Yes. And to assume that we're not
- 30:01prepared. Yeah, I think that's a great
- 30:04last point to make honestly, because it's and it's that
- 30:09mindfulness meditation idea that everything you need is already
- 30:13inside you. It's true, and you may not stick
- 30:16the landing perfectly. Yeah, and that's OK also.
- 30:20That's always OK. OK.
- 30:23It's not perfection. It's not.
- 30:25You're not. You're not aiming for
- 30:27perfection, you're just aiming to have the right intention in
- 30:31my opinion. And not only that, remember your
- 30:35own experience. You have experience doing all of
- 30:39this? Yeah.
- 30:41And you can still, you can do it.
- 30:43You can pull whatever you have inside of you out to do this.
- 30:46Whatever that thing is, you can do it.
- 30:49You got to believe in yourself. That seems so elementary, but
- 30:52how often do we need reminded of it?
- 30:54Me a lot. Yeah, and how often when you're
- 30:57an adult does someone say that to you?
- 30:59Like never. Never.
- 31:01You hear it all the time when you're in second grade.
- 31:03Exactly like people you know, you stop getting naps, you stop
- 31:07getting hugs and you stop getting encouragement when
- 31:09you're not in elementary school anymore.
- 31:11And adults need all of those things.
- 31:13We. Do.
- 31:15Naps. Especially naps.
- 31:17And like fruit juice boxes that you have to poke the thing in
- 31:21the hole and drink out of the straw.
- 31:23You know those things. We stopped getting all the good
- 31:26stuff. Why is it that the whole world
- 31:29expects children to be learning and make mistakes, but it's
- 31:34never appreciated when a an adult is trying to learn and
- 31:39make mistakes? Yeah, there's more perfection
- 31:42expected from adults. It's like we're supposed to
- 31:45know, but OK, but we don't know what we don't know, right?
- 31:49And that's not fair. That's not a fair expectation of
- 31:51anyone. Even Obi Wan's not perfect, he
- 31:55makes mistakes, but he. He's the closest thing he.
- 31:59Said this a million, Yeah. I mean, a perfection exists.
- 32:02It's him or Luke Skywalker, but yeah.
- 32:05Very true. But we've said it a million
- 32:08times. How many times has he been in a
- 32:10horrific situation and actually learned and changed and he's not
- 32:14the same? The next time he's in a similar
- 32:17situation? And that is something I wish I
- 32:20could be more Obi Wan. Yeah, I wish I had the patience,
- 32:25the wisdom, the fortitude and honestly the perseverance that
- 32:30Obi Wan has. Yeah, for sure.
- 32:35He's very. He's steady and, you know, has
- 32:40grace under fire. Yes, that's a great way of
- 32:43putting it. I want to be more like that.
- 32:49Same girl, same. All right.
- 32:57Next time we are going to talk about the mall series because
- 33:01that is coming out in just a few days.
- 33:04So we're probably going to try and do a week to week coverage
- 33:08of this. But we are thinking that we'll
- 33:10release our episodes later in the week since mall comes out on
- 33:14Monday and our episodes usually drop on Tuesday.
- 33:16That turn around time is too tight for us.
- 33:18But come back next time. We're going to probably do the
- 33:22first two batches that get released week 1 and Week 2 and
- 33:27then we'll pick up each week from there.
- 33:29But I'm excited. It looks pretty good.
- 33:32It does actually. I'm I'm intrigued.
- 33:36Sam and Sam looks. Sam what?
- 33:38We're listen, Chefs. Kiss.
- 33:41This is why we're here, folks. So come back next time for that.
