Latest / Foul Territory / Top 5 Yankees and Red Sox players who won’t be back in 2027

- 0:00Speaker 1: Every year on this channel, we make a video about
- 0:02Speaker 1: which Yankees we think will not be back the following season.
- 0:06Speaker 1: Even in a year where they quote unquote run it back,
- 0:08Speaker 1: there are still some players that the Yankees moved on
- 0:11Speaker 1: from like Devin Williams and Luke Weaver. So I do
- 0:14Speaker 1: expect the Yankees will make some changes this year. The
- 0:17Speaker 1: frustrating thing is that it's difficult sometimes to separate out
- 0:20Speaker 1: the players that you're frustrated with from the ones that
- 0:23Speaker 1: the Yankees realistically have a chance to move on from.
- 0:26Speaker 1: Contracts matter. Available replacements matter. Age matters. And as always,
- 0:32Speaker 1: there are going to be some names on this list
- 0:34Speaker 1: that tick people off. Sometimes a guy can do his job,
- 0:39Speaker 1: but the roster just isn't a good fit for that
- 0:41Speaker 1: player anymore. Sometimes there are prospects who you put a
- 0:45Speaker 1: lot of hope into, a lot of faith behind, and
- 0:48Speaker 1: they don't work out. As always, let me know in
- 0:50Speaker 1: the comments which of these players you think will not
- 0:54Speaker 1: be back with the Yankees in 2027, if there is
- 0:55Speaker 1: a 2027. I was talking about the lockout. Anyway, here's
- 1:06Speaker 1: my list of top five Yankees who will not be back.
- 1:09Speaker 1: Stick around for the honorable mentions at the end. Let's
- 1:18Speaker 1: begin with number five. And this is one of those
- 1:20Speaker 1: guys that I wish I didn't have to put on
- 1:22Speaker 1: this list because I like him. The clubhouse seems to
- 1:25Speaker 1: like him. He's got a lot of great energy, but
- 1:28Speaker 1: age and injuries catch up to everyone. fernando cruz fernando
- 1:33Speaker 1: cruz is likely going to try and pitch through the
- 1:37Speaker 1: partial tear of his ucl he had a pretty good
- 1:40Speaker 1: year 67 strikeouts in 54 and two-thirds innings just a
- 1:44Speaker 1: 207 batting average against but his last few outings he
- 1:48Speaker 1: really struggled because he was trying to pitch through an
- 1:50Speaker 1: injury and ultimately after he was diagnosed with this partial
- 1:54Speaker 1: tear in his ucl he did not pitch again and
- 1:58Speaker 1: He's going to be 37 years old next season, and
- 2:02Speaker 1: the idea that he can come back and be effective
- 2:05Speaker 1: seems like kind of a pipe dream, honestly. He will
- 2:08Speaker 1: try and continue his career without the surgery, but once
- 2:12Speaker 1: that UCL tears, a lot of times it's a ticking
- 2:16Speaker 1: time bomb. Masahiro Tanaka was able to pitch through it
- 2:19Speaker 1: for a long time, but he was in his 20s.
- 2:21Speaker 1: Fernando Cruz is in his late 30s now. He'll probably
- 2:24Speaker 1: catch on somewhere with a prove-it deal, but I can't
- 2:28Speaker 1: see him returning to the Yankees. Number four is a
- 2:32Speaker 1: guy that I genuinely am going to miss. This is
- 2:36Speaker 1: a guy who has done everything the Yankees have asked
- 2:38Speaker 1: of him. And a lot of Yankees fans are going
- 2:39Speaker 1: to want to bring him back. But Paul Goldschmidt is
- 2:43Speaker 1: going to be 40 years old next year. And there
- 2:45Speaker 1: is a logjam at first base. You had Ben Rice.
- 2:48Speaker 1: who broke out this year with 40 home runs plus
- 2:50Speaker 1: a huge postseason. You got Luis Garcia Jr., who the
- 2:54Speaker 1: Yankees picked up at the deadline. Now, Paul Goldschmidt is
- 2:57Speaker 1: a good right-handed bat, but the Yankees are going to
- 2:59Speaker 1: have to find a younger right-handed bat who can play
- 3:03Speaker 1: every single day. Paul Goldschmidt will be 40 next year.
- 3:07Speaker 1: He did have 18 home runs and 52 RBIs this
- 3:10Speaker 1: season for the Yankees, and he had a 111 WRC +,
- 3:14Speaker 1: which means that He was 11% above league average. Now,
- 3:18Speaker 1: Paul Goldschmidt is a great dude. He is a classy dude.
- 3:22Speaker 1: He has a nice clubhouse presence. I would love to
- 3:25Speaker 1: have him back as perhaps a coach, maybe somebody that
- 3:28Speaker 1: can help Ben Rice grow. continue to improve at first base,
- 3:32Speaker 1: although it seems like Luis Garcia Jr. is going to
- 3:35Speaker 1: get most of the reps over there, so I'm not
- 3:37Speaker 1: sure that that even makes a lot of sense. But
- 3:39Speaker 1: Paul Goldschmidt was a fun Yankee to have around, classy dude,
- 3:42Speaker 1: and we're going to miss him, but Paul Goldschmidt will
- 3:44Speaker 1: likely not be back.
- 3:45Speaker 2: The most famous baseball player of all time, Jay Bruce.
- 3:48Speaker 1: Number three is a guy who was part of the
- 3:51Speaker 1: Juan Soto trade, and he's making his second straight appearance
- 3:54Speaker 1: on this list. He was on this list last year.
- 3:57Speaker 1: I did not expect the Yankees to bring him back.
- 3:59Speaker 1: They offered him a qualifying offer, and he took it.
- 4:02Speaker 1: And for $ 22 million, Trent Grisham did not necessarily have
- 4:06Speaker 1: a great season. He backtracked from 34 home runs the
- 4:09Speaker 1: previous year to 18 home runs last This season hit
- 4:12Speaker 1: just to 11. Now you'll see the postseason stats. He
- 4:15Speaker 1: hasn't done much. Granted, I am filming this after game
- 4:18Speaker 1: two of the American League division series because I always
- 4:21Speaker 1: release it when the Yankees are eliminated. I'm not counting
- 4:24Speaker 1: on them making it out of this round. The metrics
- 4:27Speaker 1: pretty solid for Trent Grisham. But if we are being honest,
- 4:31Speaker 1: he can't run. anymore he's way too slow to be
- 4:34Speaker 1: a center fielder he's too slow to come in on
- 4:36Speaker 1: balls and he's had hamstring injuries two years in a
- 4:39Speaker 1: row now I will say this about Trent Grisham the
- 4:41Speaker 1: man is very clutch he's had a lot of big
- 4:44Speaker 1: hits for the Yankees unfortunately time age catches up to
- 4:49Speaker 1: everybody and he is not the defender that he was
- 4:52Speaker 1: when he was acquired from San Diego however gotta give
- 4:56Speaker 1: Trent Grisham credit for having a lot of big hits
- 4:58Speaker 1: with the Yankees but Trent Grisham will not be back
- 5:03Speaker 1: Number two is probably the one that I am most
- 5:06Speaker 1: likely to be wrong about. But I also feel very
- 5:09Speaker 1: strongly about this one, because if I were the Yankees GM,
- 5:12Speaker 1: there is no way that Ryan McMahon would be my
- 5:16Speaker 1: third baseman next year. Now, the Yankees acquired Ryan McMahon
- 5:18Speaker 1: because they wanted to improve their third base defense a
- 5:21Speaker 1: little bit. and they thought, looking at his average exit
- 5:24Speaker 1: velocity being above average, that he would hit better with
- 5:28Speaker 1: the Yankees. Well, he hasn't hit that great with the Yankees.
- 5:31Speaker 1: Just a. 213 average this year, 11 home runs, 41 RBIs.
- 5:35Speaker 1: He was awful last year. an on-base percentage under 280,
- 5:40Speaker 1: a strikeout rate of almost 30%, and a WRC plus
- 5:44Speaker 1: that's 22% below league average. And you know what? Here's
- 5:48Speaker 1: the dirty little secret. Ryan McMahon has not even really
- 5:51Speaker 1: been that good defensively. And defensively, he made a huge
- 5:55Speaker 1: error in Game 2 of the American League Division Series,
- 5:57Speaker 1: which I'm filming this the night after it. First play
- 6:00Speaker 1: of the game. He makes $ 16 million. You can probably
- 6:03Speaker 1: eat some of that contract and move him elsewhere. Here's
- 6:07Speaker 1: one thing to consider. With this collective bargaining agreement coming...
- 6:11Speaker 1: There's probably going to be a salary floor, which means
- 6:14Speaker 1: there are teams that are going to need to take
- 6:17Speaker 1: on money, take on players who might be towards the
- 6:19Speaker 1: end of their careers who have a little bit of
- 6:22Speaker 1: a higher salary just so that they can meet that
- 6:25Speaker 1: salary floor. Ryan McMahon would be a great candidate for that.
- 6:29Speaker 1: The Yankees are trying to actually improve the roster. He
- 6:31Speaker 1: would be gone, but we'll see what happens.
- 6:33Speaker 2: If you don't like it, you're fired. You haven't hired
- 6:36Speaker 2: me yet.
- 6:37Speaker 1: Number one, and remember, we do have some honorable mentions
- 6:39Speaker 1: coming up next, but number one, this will cause some
- 6:42Speaker 1: division in the comments because I know this guy has
- 6:45Speaker 1: a lot of fans, but Jazz Chisholm is going to
- 6:49Speaker 1: be gone. Jazz Chisholm is a free agent. The Yankees
- 6:51Speaker 1: are not going to bring him back. There was a
- 6:52Speaker 1: report about two months ago that they weren't intending on
- 6:56Speaker 1: bringing him back. He's going to be 29 years old.
- 6:59Speaker 1: He took a step back offensively this year, hit just 231.
- 7:02Speaker 1: He had forecasted 50 home runs for himself. He ended
- 7:05Speaker 1: up with just 19. He stole a career-best 41 bases.
- 7:09Speaker 1: And defensively, he had 14 outs above average, so he
- 7:13Speaker 1: was actually pretty good. He's still very fast. However, Jazz
- 7:16Speaker 1: Chisholm does not seem to be a great fit for
- 7:19Speaker 1: the Yankees organization today. New York is trying to kind
- 7:23Speaker 1: of mold him into a more polished Yankee, more of
- 7:27Speaker 1: the prototypical, quiet, humble Yankee. But he's not that. He's
- 7:32Speaker 1: a brash, kind of fun-loving, free spirit. He brought a
- 7:36Speaker 1: lollipop to second base, we're crying out loud. If he
- 7:39Speaker 1: were to go out to someplace like, I don't know,
- 7:41Speaker 1: San Francisco, or just maybe like a moderately competitive team
- 7:47Speaker 1: that doesn't have... Press that's going to put him under
- 7:49Speaker 1: the microscope all the time. I could see him being
- 7:53Speaker 1: pretty successful. I could see him doing some damage in
- 7:56Speaker 1: someplace like Kansas City where there's a big spacious outfield.
- 7:59Speaker 1: He could drop in more hits, maybe hit for a
- 8:01Speaker 1: higher average, steal more bases. His home runs would probably
- 8:04Speaker 1: come down. But Jazz Chisholm has all the athletic ability
- 8:07Speaker 1: in the world. I just think that he might be
- 8:10Speaker 1: a little bit too much of a free spirit player.
- 8:12Speaker 1: for the yankees mold he'd probably be a better fit
- 8:16Speaker 1: elsewhere also the yankees are going to try and cut
- 8:19Speaker 1: payroll honestly and they're not going to be giving that
- 8:21Speaker 1: kind of money to jazz chisholm OK, honorable mentions. And
- 8:26Speaker 1: this one is difficult because I like this guy, Jason Dominguez.
- 8:29Speaker 1: Good kid. A lot of physical tools, but he is
- 8:32Speaker 1: now blocked in the outfield. If you plan to keep
- 8:35Speaker 1: playing Aaron Judge in right field and Ben Rice becomes
- 8:38Speaker 1: your D.H. centerfield, looks like it's going to be Spencer
- 8:41Speaker 1: Jones in left field. is Cody Bellinger. So Jason Dominguez
- 8:45Speaker 1: doesn't have a place to play right now. He is
- 8:48Speaker 1: still young enough to have some trade value, and I
- 8:51Speaker 1: think the Yankees will move him this winter. That's just
- 8:54Speaker 1: what I suspect. I will mention Jason Dominguez. I will
- 8:57Speaker 1: mention Austin Wells. Now I know he turned it up
- 8:59Speaker 1: offensively in the postseason. But he hit just 186. That
- 9:04Speaker 1: cannot be overlooked. He was good at challenges. But there
- 9:08Speaker 1: are other free agents out there. There's guys like Ryan Jeffers.
- 9:11Speaker 1: Could the Yankees try and make a trade? All of
- 9:13Speaker 1: these are possibilities. I do think that they're going to
- 9:15Speaker 1: have Austin Wells on the roster next year, especially given
- 9:19Speaker 1: how well he swung the bat in the postseason. But
- 9:21Speaker 1: I've had to yell at him about... bad postseason performances
- 9:25Speaker 1: two years in a row on the postgame shows. But
- 9:29Speaker 1: I think Austin Wells will probably be back on the team,
- 9:32Speaker 1: but honorable mention anyway. Next, we have Tim Hill. Now,
- 9:36Speaker 1: Tim Hill could be one of those guys they bring
- 9:38Speaker 1: back on a very cheap contract and He's old. I
- 9:41Speaker 1: think you need to keep a funky lefty on the roster,
- 9:44Speaker 1: and it really depends on how many of those guys
- 9:47Speaker 1: are available. Tim Hill was not super effective this year.
- 9:50Speaker 1: Let's be honest. However, he does get ground balls. He
- 9:53Speaker 1: does get double plays. So if you don't bring back
- 9:57Speaker 1: Tim Hill, you at least need to replace the role.
- 10:01Speaker 1: Also John Carlos Stanton Now this one also stings John
- 10:05Speaker 1: Carlos Stanton Big G you know Was one of the
- 10:09Speaker 1: most exciting Trades that the Yankees have made in my
- 10:12Speaker 1: Lifetime He hits the ball as hard as anybody. He
- 10:15Speaker 1: was the 2024 ALCS MVP. The guy is an absolute stud.
- 10:20Speaker 1: Problem is, he can't run. He injured himself multiple times
- 10:27Speaker 1: rehabbing a calf injury. He hurt his calf in April
- 10:30Speaker 1: and didn't make it back until the postseason. I just
- 10:34Speaker 1: don't know how you can continue to devote resources and
- 10:37Speaker 1: a roster spot to that one dimensional of a player
- 10:42Speaker 1: a guy who might occasionally play for a couple of
- 10:44Speaker 1: weeks and go on a hot streak but for the
- 10:46Speaker 1: most part he's not going to be available i know
- 10:49Speaker 1: he's under contract what the yankees might be able to
- 10:51Speaker 1: do is give him some kind of a buyout where
- 10:55Speaker 1: they pay him you know basically his salary for the
- 10:59Speaker 1: season and he gets released And then you can fill
- 11:03Speaker 1: that 40-man roster spot with someone who can actually help you.
- 11:06Speaker 1: But I like Big G. Unfortunately, he is a candidate
- 11:11Speaker 1: to not be back. Let me know in the comments
- 11:13Speaker 1: which ones you agree with, which ones you disagree with.
- 11:15Speaker 1: As always, like and subscribe. We're here after every game
- 11:18Speaker 1: all season long. And I'll see you this winter for
- 11:20Speaker 1: all sorts of hot stove coverage.
- 11:22Speaker 2: Welcome to Boston Territory, ladies and gentlemen. Boy, that was
- 11:26Speaker 2: quite the abrupt ending to the Red Sox season here
- 11:28Speaker 2: in 2026, getting absolutely shellacked at Yankee Stadium. But as
- 11:33Speaker 2: we all know, the show must go on. And as always,
- 11:36Speaker 2: we do our five Red Sox that aren't going to
- 11:39Speaker 2: be returning the following season. Let's not waste any more time.
- 11:42Speaker 2: Let's get to it here, shall we? The first guy
- 11:44Speaker 2: I got to talk about is Patrick Sandoval. Now, I
- 11:47Speaker 2: think there were a couple of good things about Sandoval
- 11:49Speaker 2: this year. He had a pretty good strikeout rate, 9.3
- 11:52Speaker 2: strikeouts per nine. He did a good job at keeping
- 11:55Speaker 2: the ball in the yard as well under a home
- 11:57Speaker 2: run per nine. But the big issue with Sandoval was
- 11:59Speaker 2: his the command. He had a pretty high walk rate,
- 12:01Speaker 2: right around four walks per nine. He had trouble going
- 12:04Speaker 2: deeper into games. So I think when you combine that
- 12:08Speaker 2: with the fact that the Red Sox already have a
- 12:09Speaker 2: lot of starting pitching at the major league level and
- 12:12Speaker 2: in the minor leagues as well, and they just have
- 12:15Speaker 2: a good amount of depth. I don't really see the
- 12:16Speaker 2: need to bring back Sandoval at this point. I think
- 12:20Speaker 2: he's going to end up finding a team out there
- 12:22Speaker 2: that needs a fourth or fifth starter at the Or
- 12:26Speaker 2: could you possibly even see him sign as a reliever somewhere?
- 12:29Speaker 2: I feel like he'd be a really solid reliever, like
- 12:31Speaker 2: a multi-inning kind of a guy, because the first time
- 12:34Speaker 2: through the order, he's always been pretty solid for the
- 12:36Speaker 2: most part. His big issue is just going deeper into games.
- 12:39Speaker 2: So I'm interested to see what his market is going
- 12:43Speaker 2: to be, you know, where he ends up signing, what
- 12:45Speaker 2: kind of a role he's going to end up having.
- 12:47Speaker 2: But in the end, I don't see him returning to
- 12:49Speaker 2: the Red Sox. Moving on. Now, I remember when this
- 12:53Speaker 2: signing first happened. I think we were all kind of
- 12:56Speaker 2: freaking out when it happened because we needed a bat, right?
- 12:59Speaker 1: Alex Bregman.
- 13:00Speaker 2: I still remember this. Alex Bregman went to the Cubs,
- 13:03Speaker 2: and then we signed IKF like a few days later.
- 13:06Speaker 2: And I'm thinking, what the heck? This is the bat?
- 13:09Speaker 2: This is the big bat the Red Sox are bringing in?
- 13:11Speaker 2: Are you kidding me? luckily they ended up making the
- 13:14Speaker 2: trade for Caleb Durbin not too long after that but
- 13:16Speaker 2: the signing at the time was a little confusing even
- 13:19Speaker 2: though you knew he was going to be able to
- 13:21Speaker 2: give you good defense good veteran coming off the bench
- 13:24Speaker 2: but you know you're thinking to yourself you already had
- 13:26Speaker 2: guys like Romy Gonzalez in the mix you know obviously
- 13:29Speaker 2: you know Trevor Story at shortstop ended up kind of
- 13:32Speaker 2: working out, right? Because Story ended up going down. He
- 13:35Speaker 2: was able to provide you some pretty decent insurance defensively,
- 13:39Speaker 2: but then he ended up getting hurt and missing a
- 13:40Speaker 2: whole bunch of time. So kind of the same thing
- 13:43Speaker 2: with Sandoval. I just feel like you already got a
- 13:46Speaker 2: lot of guys in the mix, especially now that, you know,
- 13:48Speaker 2: you have Andrew Monasterio as well as Romy Gonzalez, obviously
- 13:53Speaker 2: Trevor Story, who we'll talk about him in just a
- 13:55Speaker 2: second here. But then, you know, obviously Franklin Arias, who's
- 13:59Speaker 2: getting very close. to major league ready. So I feel
- 14:02Speaker 2: like you're already pretty good for now with up the
- 14:06Speaker 2: middle infield depth. So I don't really see the need
- 14:09Speaker 2: to bring back IKF for next year. I think he'll
- 14:12Speaker 2: end up signing elsewhere. You know, probably, you know, something
- 14:15Speaker 2: kind of like that one year deal he just signed.
- 14:17Speaker 2: He'll probably go to a contender and be a good
- 14:20Speaker 2: veteran coming off the bench. Moving on to the Yoshida
- 14:27Speaker 2: now here's the thing I love Masa I have always
- 14:30Speaker 2: loved Masa ever since he came to the Red Sox
- 14:32Speaker 2: but The big problem with Masa has been the health.
- 14:36Speaker 2: He has just not been able to stay healthy. When
- 14:39Speaker 2: he has been healthy and when he's gotten himself into
- 14:42Speaker 2: a groove and he's built that consistency, he has shown
- 14:46Speaker 2: to be a good hitter with the Red Sox. But again,
- 14:48Speaker 2: he's just had trouble with the durability. So I kind
- 14:52Speaker 2: of just wonder, is Masa going to still be an
- 14:55Speaker 2: $ 18 million bat off the bench when someone like Curtis
- 14:59Speaker 2: Meade is probably going to be getting a lot of ABs?
- 15:01Speaker 2: If you think of Roman Anthony, who seems to be
- 15:05Speaker 2: the more comfortable role, seems to be playing outfield as
- 15:09Speaker 2: well as splitting time at DH. So I just feel
- 15:12Speaker 2: like with all the bats that you have in the
- 15:15Speaker 2: DH spot already that are going to be needing ABs,
- 15:18Speaker 2: I have a hard time seeing where Massa is going
- 15:21Speaker 2: to be able to fit in here. And, you know,
- 15:23Speaker 2: you also think about the fact that he's going to
- 15:24Speaker 2: be making right around 18 million dollars. I imagine the
- 15:28Speaker 2: Red Sox are going to look to try and trade
- 15:30Speaker 2: him somewhere to even if they have to eat a
- 15:33Speaker 2: little bit of that salary just to be able to
- 15:35Speaker 2: clear it off the books and obviously clear the roster
- 15:38Speaker 2: space as well. And if they're unable to make a
- 15:41Speaker 2: trade out there with the team, I could just see
- 15:43Speaker 2: a straight up DFA as much as I would hate
- 15:46Speaker 2: to see that because, again, when healthy, he has shown that.
- 15:49Speaker 2: to be a good hitter. But I'm going to say
- 15:51Speaker 2: right now, just because of the guys they already have
- 15:55Speaker 2: in the mix needing ABs at the DH spot, I
- 15:58Speaker 2: have a hard time seeing Masa being back with the
- 16:01Speaker 2: Red Sox for next year. Now, last year, I said
- 16:03Speaker 2: this as well, but, you know, thinking back to it,
- 16:07Speaker 2: you know, he had a couple more years left on
- 16:09Speaker 2: the contract. So that's a lot of money you have
- 16:12Speaker 2: to try and clear. And it was already an underwater
- 16:14Speaker 2: contract as it was. But trying to clear that much
- 16:17Speaker 2: salary is tough. But because he's only got one year remaining,
- 16:21Speaker 2: I imagine the Red Sox will be able to find
- 16:23Speaker 2: a way to move him to another team or even
- 16:26Speaker 2: if it just ends up being a DFA. I feel
- 16:28Speaker 2: like they're going to be more willing to stomach that
- 16:31Speaker 2: at this point. And I've said it before, while I
- 16:33Speaker 2: do think he's a good hitter and a guy that
- 16:35Speaker 2: gets on base well, he works counts well, he's just
- 16:37Speaker 2: not going to be able to give you that pop
- 16:40Speaker 2: that you really want out of the DH spot. If
- 16:42Speaker 2: you've got a guy that's getting a ton of ABs mostly,
- 16:45Speaker 2: at the DH spot, you want more production there. You know,
- 16:48Speaker 2: a decent batting average and a good on-base percentage is nice,
- 16:51Speaker 2: but you need more slug in that spot. So that's
- 16:54Speaker 2: kind of where I think the Red Sox are going
- 16:56Speaker 2: to be heading. Again, guys like Roman, Curtis Meade, they're
- 16:58Speaker 2: going to be getting ABs at the DH spot. And
- 17:01Speaker 2: if they want to add another impact bat, I would imagine,
- 17:04Speaker 2: you know, that could be a guy that could potentially
- 17:07Speaker 2: share some DH duties as well. So in the end,
- 17:10Speaker 2: I think the Red Sox are going to move on
- 17:11Speaker 2: from Masutake Yoshida.
- 17:13Speaker 1: This is the call of the Australian rubber bird.
- 17:16Speaker 2: Snap! Snap!
- 17:18Speaker 1: This is the call of the Alaskan chili bird.
- 17:21Speaker 2: Kiki-kiki-kiki-kiki-kiki-kiki-kiki-kiki-kiki-kiki-kiki-kiki-kiki-kiki-kiki-kiki-kiki-kiki-kiki-kiki-kiki-kiki-kiki-kiki-kiki-kiki-kiki-kiki-kiki-kiki-kiki-kiki-kiki-kiki-kiki-kiki-kiki-kiki-kiki-kiki-kiki-kiki-kiki-kiki-kiki-kiki-kiki-kiki-kiki-kiki-kiki-kiki-kiki-kiki-kiki-kiki-kiki-kiki-kiki-kiki-kiki-kiki-kiki-kiki-kiki-kiki- Let's move on to the next guy here, shall we?
- 17:54Speaker 2: Fourth on my list, I'm going to throw in Jaron
- 17:57Speaker 2: Duran here. Now, I've been talking about Jaron Duran over
- 18:00Speaker 2: the last couple of years as a possible trade candidate.
- 18:02Speaker 2: I thought for sure he was going to get traded
- 18:05Speaker 2: last offseason. And it looked like at one point it
- 18:07Speaker 2: could have been heading that way. But the Red Sox
- 18:10Speaker 2: ended up holding on to him. You go back to
- 18:12Speaker 2: last offseason, we were talking about the outfield surplus. That
- 18:15Speaker 2: was a big talking point last offseason, right? Because you
- 18:18Speaker 2: had Duran. roman had emerged will your seti you know
- 18:22Speaker 2: gold glovers in the outfield so you're thinking how you
- 18:24Speaker 2: gonna make this work and you were thinking too like
- 18:26Speaker 2: you know you had masa at the time or if
- 18:28Speaker 2: they were gonna go get themselves another bat right you're
- 18:31Speaker 2: thinking how is this gonna work with four outfielders you
- 18:33Speaker 2: know and the dh spot with other bats as well
- 18:36Speaker 2: but in the end it pretty much worked for the
- 18:37Speaker 2: red socks roman ended up getting hurt and ended up
- 18:40Speaker 2: being a good thing that you had to ran but
- 18:42Speaker 2: At the same time, the season that Duran had was
- 18:46Speaker 2: extremely underwhelming, right? Now, he did post a 2020 season,
- 18:49Speaker 2: 20 homers, 21 stolen bases, but.
- 18:53Speaker 2: Everything else offensively was absolutely atrocious. Now, when it comes
- 18:58Speaker 2: to all-time Major League players that have posted a 20-20 season,
- 19:03Speaker 2: 20 homers and 20 stolen bases, none of them in
- 19:06Speaker 2: Major League history have had an OPS under 650 and
- 19:10Speaker 2: a batting average under 250 until.
- 19:14Speaker 2: Jaron Duran here in 2026 he's the only player in
- 19:17Speaker 2: major league history to have a 2020 season while hitting
- 19:20Speaker 2: under 250 with an OPS under 650. I think with
- 19:24Speaker 2: Duran while there are some good things there right he
- 19:27Speaker 2: still obviously has that pop he has that speed and
- 19:30Speaker 2: he played good defense out in left field this year
- 19:32Speaker 2: but besides those things he was just completely lost this
- 19:35Speaker 2: year the plate discipline went down the tubes the batted
- 19:38Speaker 2: ball profile wasn't very strong this year more middle of
- 19:41Speaker 2: the road You know, the expected numbers didn't look very good.
- 19:44Speaker 2: So I think because of those things, I think the
- 19:46Speaker 2: Red Sox, they're going to move on this coming offseason.
- 19:50Speaker 2: He still has a little bit of control left. That
- 19:52Speaker 2: still gives him a decent amount of trade value. And again,
- 19:55Speaker 2: did post a 2020 season. He still has that skill
- 19:59Speaker 2: set where I could see other teams out there looking
- 20:01Speaker 2: at that and be like, you know what? Let's bring
- 20:03Speaker 2: him in and let's see what we can do with
- 20:05Speaker 2: this guy, right? There is a good player in Jaron Duran.
- 20:08Speaker 2: We just saw it. A few years ago, I mean,
- 20:10Speaker 2: this guy was off the charts back in 2024. And unfortunately,
- 20:14Speaker 2: the numbers have just regressed since then. But he has
- 20:17Speaker 2: that track record of being a good player. So I
- 20:19Speaker 2: could see teams out there willing to take a chance
- 20:22Speaker 2: on him. And because the overall numbers have dipped this year,
- 20:25Speaker 2: his trade value has pretty much crashed down to earth.
- 20:28Speaker 2: The fact that he has a little bit of control left,
- 20:31Speaker 2: two more years of control left, until free agency, not
- 20:34Speaker 2: a cheaper salary for the most part. I can see
- 20:37Speaker 2: teams out there thinking, hey, you know, this is a
- 20:39Speaker 2: 2020 guy. We wouldn't have to give up too much
- 20:41Speaker 2: for him. So yeah, let's pull off a trade here.
- 20:44Speaker 2: And Craig Breslow, while he has held a high price
- 20:46Speaker 2: tag for him before, he's not going to be able
- 20:49Speaker 2: to do that this time around. And when you think
- 20:51Speaker 2: of just the Red Sox roster right now, I mean,
- 20:53Speaker 2: you still have the outfield surplus. I imagine Roman is
- 20:57Speaker 2: going to be back next year. I expect him to
- 20:59Speaker 2: be fully healthy. for 2027 and I know there's going
- 21:02Speaker 2: to be people out there that doubt Roman's health moving
- 21:04Speaker 2: forward but that's the outfield you have for the most
- 21:07Speaker 2: part moving forward with Roman in left Seti in center
- 21:10Speaker 2: and Willier out and right but you need more impact
- 21:14Speaker 2: offensively you were hoping Durant would be able to give
- 21:16Speaker 2: you more than this right but because of the overall
- 21:19Speaker 2: numbers this year being absolutely atrocious I think the Red
- 21:22Speaker 2: Sox are going to look at this and think you
- 21:23Speaker 2: know what we need to make an upgrade offensively. We
- 21:26Speaker 2: need to get a guy that's going to be more consistent. Sure,
- 21:29Speaker 2: 2020 season, that's pretty good, but when you take a
- 21:32Speaker 2: look at everything else, he just wasn't really able to
- 21:35Speaker 2: impact the team as much as you would want. I
- 21:38Speaker 2: think in the end, teams, they're going to look at
- 21:40Speaker 2: his skill set. They're going to be willing to take
- 21:41Speaker 2: a chance on him. It's not going to cost really
- 21:43Speaker 2: too much to acquire him, and I think from the
- 21:45Speaker 2: Red Sox point of view, they need to make upgrades offensively.
- 21:49Speaker 2: So when those two things come together, I think the
- 21:51Speaker 2: Red Sox end up trading him away. Now, there are
- 21:54Speaker 2: going to be some offensive upgrades on the free agent market.
- 21:57Speaker 2: And the first guy I got my eyes on is
- 21:59Speaker 2: Randy Rosarena. You could say he's the best bat available
- 22:02Speaker 2: in free agency this offseason. But we all remember Randy
- 22:05Speaker 2: Rosarena with the Rays causing havoc against the Red Sox
- 22:08Speaker 2: for so many years. He's always hit well at Fenway Park,
- 22:11Speaker 2: right around 830. OPS in his career there. He's a
- 22:14Speaker 2: guy that's going to be a bit more of a
- 22:16Speaker 2: pole hitter, so I could see him being a good
- 22:18Speaker 2: fit with the Green Monster there. But the one thing
- 22:20Speaker 2: with Randy that's always stuck out with him is postseason success,
- 22:25Speaker 2: over a 900 OPS in his career in the postseason.
- 22:28Speaker 2: So you know this guy is going to be a
- 22:29Speaker 2: gamer if you are obviously trying to go win yourself
- 22:33Speaker 2: a World Series. So with Randy, I think he could
- 22:35Speaker 2: fit well between left field and DH, splitting time with
- 22:39Speaker 2: Roman Anthony there. So I think you could make that work.
- 22:42Speaker 2: And with Randy, he would absolutely be a fan favorite
- 22:45Speaker 2: in Boston, doing the arm cross thing. He's always had
- 22:49Speaker 2: a pretty good personality. So I can see Boston fans
- 22:51Speaker 2: really liking him at Fenway Park. And with the Red Sox,
- 22:54Speaker 2: they have money. coming off the books. You know, Sonny Gray,
- 22:57Speaker 2: he has a mutual option that I don't think is
- 22:59Speaker 2: going to get exercised. They have a couple other guys
- 23:01Speaker 2: coming off the books as well. So with the Red Sox,
- 23:04Speaker 2: you know, they are pretty set on the pitching side
- 23:06Speaker 2: of things. So if they really wanted to invest some
- 23:08Speaker 2: money into a bat for the next four to five
- 23:11Speaker 2: years or so, I could see them having some interest
- 23:14Speaker 2: in Randy. And then you got someone like Seiya Suzuki
- 23:17Speaker 2: as well. You know, same thing. You know, he can
- 23:19Speaker 2: play some outfield, maybe DH a couple of days. Now,
- 23:22Speaker 2: one issue that with say I don't know if it's
- 23:24Speaker 2: an issue necessarily but just a question mark in my
- 23:27Speaker 2: opinion is he's more of a right fielder right he's
- 23:30Speaker 2: a pretty good right fielder at that he posted very
- 23:33Speaker 2: good numbers in right field this year right near the
- 23:35Speaker 2: top when he came to outs above average and a
- 23:36Speaker 2: very good arm as well if he's open to playing
- 23:39Speaker 2: some left field I could see that splitting time with
- 23:42Speaker 2: Roman Anthony. But another issue there is, you know, go
- 23:44Speaker 2: back a couple of years ago when the Cubs brought
- 23:46Speaker 2: in Kyle Tucker, you know, there were some things going
- 23:48Speaker 2: on where he was saying he wanted to play in
- 23:50Speaker 2: the field every day, right? He didn't really want to
- 23:53Speaker 2: be DH-ing for the most part. So you were hearing him,
- 23:55Speaker 2: you know, possibly coming up on the rumor mill for
- 23:58Speaker 2: a possible trade. So I don't know if he would
- 24:00Speaker 2: be willing to to split time between left field and DH.
- 24:04Speaker 2: I don't know. Something to think about there. But his
- 24:06Speaker 2: swing would fit really well at Fenway Park. More of
- 24:09Speaker 2: a pulse swing compared to Randy's. So obviously with the
- 24:12Speaker 2: green monster, that fits. So I think Sayap could be
- 24:15Speaker 2: a possible fit there. Now, if you wanted to go
- 24:17Speaker 2: for a cheaper option that could play some outfield, even
- 24:20Speaker 2: a little bit of first base, DH obviously. Jake Bowers
- 24:24Speaker 2: is coming off a career year. 873 OPS, a 143 touchdown.
- 24:28Speaker 2: WRC plus 26 homers, 11 stolen bases to go with it.
- 24:31Speaker 2: So could you see a situation where he can play
- 24:34Speaker 2: some first base some days while Wilson can DH, you know,
- 24:37Speaker 2: if Roman was going to DH some days, he can
- 24:39Speaker 2: go play some left, you know, even if Willier needed
- 24:42Speaker 2: a day or whatever it may be, he can go
- 24:44Speaker 2: play some rice. Now he doesn't have quite the track
- 24:46Speaker 2: record as Randy or say, obviously coming off a career year,
- 24:49Speaker 2: but you know, he could be a guy that I
- 24:51Speaker 2: could see the Red Sox having some interest in. He
- 24:53Speaker 2: would be on the cheaper side. He's obviously, you know,
- 24:55Speaker 2: not as sexy of a name, compared to Randy or
- 24:58Speaker 2: Seah but you know I could see the Red Sox
- 25:00Speaker 2: having some interest here he is going to be more
- 25:03Speaker 2: of a pole guy but with the batter ball profile
- 25:05Speaker 2: that should be able to fit well at Fenway Park
- 25:08Speaker 2: but he also has the ability to go oppo a
- 25:10Speaker 2: little bit so I could see him peppering that monster
- 25:12Speaker 2: a little bit as well you know so Jake Bowers
- 25:14Speaker 2: again I'm kind of looking at really you know the
- 25:16Speaker 2: versatility that he has the good power that he has
- 25:19Speaker 2: from the left side.
- 25:20Speaker 3: To Okay, Kratzy, here we are again, man. How many
- 25:24Speaker 3: times do we have to tell people to get the
- 25:26Speaker 3: best tickets in the house? Where do we got to go?
- 25:28Speaker 3: We got to go to SeatGeek. It's been worth it
- 25:31Speaker 3: so many times, so many years. The green light will
- 25:34Speaker 3: let you know when it is time to go and
- 25:36Speaker 3: the best seats available. The red will let you know
- 25:38Speaker 3: if it's not the best. Kratzy, tell them how easy
- 25:41Speaker 3: it is.
- 25:42Speaker 4: Todd, I know it's easy, but I'm looking for the
- 25:44Speaker 4: deals because that's what I do. Even so much, like
- 25:48Speaker 4: we're getting such a good deal. I want you to
- 25:50Speaker 4: come across the river. and we'll go to a Sixers
- 25:52Speaker 4: game together. I don't know where to sit in the stadium,
- 25:55Speaker 4: but it'll let me know that it's a perfect view
- 25:57Speaker 4: because I'm not a big NBA fan, but I gotta
- 26:01Speaker 4: go see the Sixers play with LeBron and the boys.
- 26:03Speaker 3: And of course I have a code for you all.
- 26:05Speaker 3: You can use code TERRITORY10 for 10% off your next
- 26:08Speaker 3: set of tickets at SeatGeek. That's 10% of all tickets
- 26:12Speaker 3: with promo code TERRITORY10. Make sure you click the link
- 26:15Speaker 3: in the description to download the app and have the
- 26:17Speaker 3: code automatically added to your account so you can use
- 26:20Speaker 3: it later.
- 26:22Speaker 2: Now, if you wanted to get away from, you know,
- 26:24Speaker 2: the outfield first base, you know, I'm also looking at
- 26:27Speaker 2: Brandon Lau. Now, second base has been a bit of
- 26:30Speaker 2: a revolving door for the Red Sox over the years.
- 26:33Speaker 2: It feels like they just have not been able to
- 26:36Speaker 2: find the guy at second base. Well, Brandon Lau would
- 26:40Speaker 2: absolutely solve that. He's coming off one of his best
- 26:42Speaker 2: seasons at the plate with the Pittsburgh Pirates. 824 OPS,
- 26:44Speaker 2: 35 homers, 96 RBIs. a 121 WRC plus he was
- 26:49Speaker 2: right around a five war player not just because of
- 26:51Speaker 2: the offense but the defense as well he posted a
- 26:53Speaker 2: career year at second base this year and defensively at
- 26:56Speaker 2: second base that has been a bit of a question
- 26:58Speaker 2: mark for the Red Sox over the last few years
- 27:00Speaker 2: but obviously he did great there this year so yeah
- 27:03Speaker 2: Brandon Lau Trevor Story up the middle and with Trevor
- 27:06Speaker 2: Story he has one year left until free agency so
- 27:09Speaker 2: with Franklin Arias he wouldn't be too blocked over at shortstop.
- 27:14Speaker 2: You know, I've thought about where Story, he could be
- 27:16Speaker 2: the shortstop for next year. And then Arias, he can
- 27:18Speaker 2: come up, maybe play some second base at some point.
- 27:20Speaker 2: Or if Story goes down at short, he can play there, obviously.
- 27:23Speaker 2: But if you sign Lau, that, you know, that wouldn't
- 27:26Speaker 2: necessarily block Arias for too long. So something to think about.
- 27:30Speaker 2: And one more thing I forgot to mention with Lau,
- 27:32Speaker 2: same thing with Randy. He was with the Rays. for
- 27:34Speaker 2: so many years he's obviously had a lot of experience
- 27:37Speaker 2: playing against the Red Sox playing at Fenway Park and
- 27:40Speaker 2: his numbers at Fenway Park are really good has over
- 27:43Speaker 2: an 1100 OPS in his career at Fenway Park and
- 27:47Speaker 2: another good thing about Brandon Lau as well is this
- 27:50Speaker 2: is a guy that's good in the clubhouse he's a
- 27:52Speaker 2: good veteran he's a guy that's very active in the
- 27:54Speaker 2: community he's done charity work wherever he's gone so you
- 27:57Speaker 2: know Brandon Lau I could see the Red Sox having
- 28:00Speaker 2: some interest and Because he is 32 years old now,
- 28:03Speaker 2: I don't think he's going to be getting himself like
- 28:04Speaker 2: a seven or an eight year deal, even a six
- 28:07Speaker 2: year deal. I could see something along the lines of
- 28:09Speaker 2: a four to a five year deal for Brandon Lau.
- 28:11Speaker 2: That seems to be right in the sweet spot of
- 28:14Speaker 2: where the Red Sox have liked to go when it
- 28:16Speaker 2: comes to free agent contracts in the past. So, yeah,
- 28:18Speaker 2: Brandon Lau, I think he checks off a lot of
- 28:21Speaker 2: boxes here. But another name I want you to keep
- 28:24Speaker 2: an eye on is a guy coming out of Japan
- 28:26Speaker 2: by the name of Teruaki Sato. This guy's got a
- 28:29Speaker 2: really good bat from the left side of the plate.
- 28:31Speaker 2: He's probably going to be winning his second straight MVP
- 28:35Speaker 2: in the MPB this year. Not quite the power of
- 28:37Speaker 2: Munataka Murakami, but still has a good amount of it
- 28:40Speaker 2: from the left side of the plate. You know, taking
- 28:41Speaker 2: a look. at the numbers this year. I mean, this
- 28:43Speaker 2: guy put up great numbers this year. 137 games, hitting 316,
- 28:48Speaker 2: a 395 on base percentage, a 626 on the slugging,
- 28:51Speaker 2: 38 homers. He had 40 homers last year. So yeah,
- 28:54Speaker 2: Murakami's got better power upside, but he's a very good
- 28:57Speaker 2: bat himself. He kind of reminds me of Hideki Matsui
- 29:00Speaker 2: for a couple of reasons. One being very similar numbers
- 29:03Speaker 2: to Matsui in his last couple of years in the
- 29:06Speaker 2: MPB before signing with the Yankees in the early 2000s.
- 29:09Speaker 2: but also he has a bit more athleticism compared to
- 29:12Speaker 2: Munataka Murakami. With Murakami, more of a first baseman DH profile,
- 29:17Speaker 2: but with Sato, he's got a really good arm that's
- 29:20Speaker 2: capable of playing third base and a corner outfield spot. Now,
- 29:23Speaker 2: could you see a situation where you bring in Sato
- 29:25Speaker 2: to play third base and then Durbin, he can move
- 29:28Speaker 2: over to second base. Now, like I just said a
- 29:30Speaker 2: little bit ago, Second base has been a bit of
- 29:32Speaker 2: a revolving door for the Red Sox. Well, Durbin, he
- 29:35Speaker 2: could be your answer for second base. And he's played
- 29:37Speaker 2: a lot of second base in the past while he
- 29:39Speaker 2: was with the Brewers. So I could see him being
- 29:41Speaker 2: just fine over at second. Very good defensively at third base,
- 29:45Speaker 2: but I trust that he'd be able to handle second base.
- 29:47Speaker 2: And Sato, yeah, there are question marks defensively, but maybe
- 29:51Speaker 2: you can get that shirt up a little bit, work
- 29:53Speaker 2: with him on the side, you know, kind of improve
- 29:55Speaker 2: a couple of things. And You know, he could be
- 29:57Speaker 2: your third baseman or, you know, maybe just split time.
- 29:59Speaker 2: He could play third and then Durbin. He could play
- 30:01Speaker 2: second those days and then Durbin can play third and
- 30:04Speaker 2: then Sato could be your DH. You know, so I
- 30:06Speaker 2: feel like you could make that work. But, you know,
- 30:08Speaker 2: with Sato again, he provides a lot of ceiling with
- 30:12Speaker 2: the bat. You know, you think of last offseason, the
- 30:14Speaker 2: Red Sox were connected a little bit. with Munataka Murakami
- 30:18Speaker 2: obviously he ended up going to the White Sox but
- 30:20Speaker 2: a lot of people were hoping the Red Sox would
- 30:22Speaker 2: bring in a bat like that because obviously power upside
- 30:26Speaker 2: for days I mean look what he did with the
- 30:27Speaker 2: White Sox this year someone like Sato could definitely bring
- 30:31Speaker 2: you some pretty good power that could definitely clear Fenway
- 30:33Speaker 2: Park as a left-handed hitter so I'd say keep your
- 30:36Speaker 2: eyes on Teruaki Sato the last guy on my list
- 30:42Speaker 2: the guy that I have last on my list Is
- 30:45Speaker 2: Sonny Gray. And I hate saying that because he's been amazing.
- 30:48Speaker 2: for the Red Sox this year. Tied for the Major
- 30:50Speaker 2: League lead in wins with 18, tied with Christopher Sanchez
- 30:54Speaker 2: over in the National League. Now I'm not really a
- 30:57Speaker 2: big wins guy necessarily. You know, I like looking at
- 31:00Speaker 2: the ERA, the FIP, the strikeouts. I like looking at
- 31:03Speaker 2: the metrics, but still 18 wins. That just goes to
- 31:07Speaker 2: show that the Red Sox were very successful when he
- 31:10Speaker 2: was on the mound and he was pitching well in
- 31:12Speaker 2: game two in the wild card round against the Yankees.
- 31:15Speaker 2: I felt he got pulled too early. He felt that
- 31:17Speaker 2: as well. I think for the most part, all of
- 31:19Speaker 2: us agree that he should have stayed in that game
- 31:22Speaker 2: at least a little bit longer. He was only at
- 31:24Speaker 2: 70 pitches for crying out loud. He was very good
- 31:27Speaker 2: this year. Third time through the order. He's shown plenty
- 31:29Speaker 2: of times this year to be able to work out
- 31:31Speaker 2: of jams. So I felt like he should have stayed
- 31:33Speaker 2: in that game, even though the Yankees did pick up
- 31:35Speaker 2: a couple of base hits off of him. Still, I
- 31:38Speaker 2: would have trusted Sonny to maneuver his way out of
- 31:41Speaker 2: that situation. That's just me. But I wonder if that
- 31:44Speaker 2: comes into play with his decision making. He's got the
- 31:47Speaker 2: mutual option that doesn't usually get exercised because obviously it
- 31:51Speaker 2: takes two to tango with that. From his point of view,
- 31:54Speaker 2: he's getting towards the end of his career. I imagine
- 31:57Speaker 2: he would like to go sign like a multi-year deal
- 32:00Speaker 2: to finish off his career. And for the Red Sox,
- 32:03Speaker 2: you know, we all know they're very analytical players. I
- 32:05Speaker 2: feel like they probably take a look at something with
- 32:08Speaker 2: the metrics and they're like, well, you know, you had
- 32:10Speaker 2: a good season this year, but we feel like moving forward,
- 32:13Speaker 2: this is probably what you're going to be worth. So
- 32:15Speaker 2: we could do a contract along these lines. And then
- 32:18Speaker 2: I could see Sonny being like, no, that's not quite
- 32:21Speaker 2: what I'm looking for. And then when you got teams
- 32:23Speaker 2: out there that are always looking for starting pitching, I
- 32:25Speaker 2: could imagine a team out there. paying him a pretty
- 32:28Speaker 2: penny to go finish his career there so I just
- 32:30Speaker 2: feel like when you combine those factors you know the
- 32:33Speaker 2: contract negotiations obviously having a bad taste in your mouth
- 32:37Speaker 2: to end the year you know wanting to stay in
- 32:39Speaker 2: the game you know I wonder if that comes into
- 32:42Speaker 2: play but I mentioned this as well With the Red
- 32:45Speaker 2: Sox earlier when talking about Patrick Sandoval coming full circle here,
- 32:48Speaker 2: you already have a lot of pitching depth within the organization, right?
- 32:52Speaker 2: Got Garrett Crochet. He's going to be back atop the
- 32:55Speaker 2: rotation next year. Dayton Tully coming off a tremendous rookie season.
- 32:59Speaker 2: Jake Bennett also very solid in his rookie season. Ranger Suarez,
- 33:02Speaker 2: he's looked like a good signing so far. So you
- 33:04Speaker 2: already got four guys that are going to be prime
- 33:06Speaker 2: members of the rotation right there. But then you got
- 33:09Speaker 2: guys that are going to be coming back along with
- 33:11Speaker 2: Garrett Crochet, right? Tanner Houck, we saw him. at the
- 33:14Speaker 2: end of the season there. So I imagine he's going
- 33:16Speaker 2: to have a say for a rotation spot. Brian Bale,
- 33:19Speaker 2: I imagine, is not going to be staying in a
- 33:21Speaker 2: long relief role for the rest of his career. So
- 33:24Speaker 2: I think he's going to have a say when it
- 33:26Speaker 2: comes to a rotation spot. Johan Oviedo, don't forget about him.
- 33:29Speaker 2: They brought him in last offseason. What happens with cutter
- 33:32Speaker 2: crawford here you know yeah there are some injuries going
- 33:36Speaker 2: on with a few of these guys but then you
- 33:37Speaker 2: go even further down into the minor leagues you know
- 33:40Speaker 2: you got some guys down here as well jettison paez
- 33:42Speaker 2: who came up for a couple of starts of the
- 33:44Speaker 2: red sox this year i imagine he could be a
- 33:46Speaker 2: candidate for some spot starts john holobets he looked pretty
- 33:49Speaker 2: good this year gage zeal posted some pretty decent numbers
- 33:51Speaker 2: so you already have a good amount of arms in
- 33:53Speaker 2: the organization already and you know then you can go
- 33:56Speaker 2: out there and free agency maybe you know pick up
- 33:58Speaker 2: a guy on, say, a one-year deal. I could see
- 34:01Speaker 2: the Red Sox going that route. And as good as
- 34:03Speaker 2: Sonny Gray is, I would love to have him back.
- 34:06Speaker 2: If the Red Sox bring him back, that's great. I'm
- 34:08Speaker 2: not going to completely dismiss that. You know, anything can happen, obviously. Yeah,
- 34:13Speaker 2: he had a lot of success with the Red Sox
- 34:15Speaker 2: this year. Obviously, it was working. So I wouldn't be
- 34:17Speaker 2: surprised at all if they were able to work out
- 34:19Speaker 2: something new.
- 34:20Speaker 1: I hope they do.
- 34:21Speaker 2: But, you know, when I'm thinking of just how things
- 34:24Speaker 2: ended this year, teams out there looking for starting pitching,
- 34:27Speaker 2: how the Red Sox possibly value him moving forward, I'm
- 34:31Speaker 2: going to say that he ends up not coming back.
- 34:34Speaker 2: You know, I could see him honestly going to the
- 34:36Speaker 2: Atlanta Braves for a couple of years, right? That's close
- 34:38Speaker 2: to home for him. You know, maybe with him and
- 34:40Speaker 2: his family, he'd like to be closer to home towards
- 34:43Speaker 2: the end of his career. So I'm going to say
- 34:45Speaker 2: that for now. I think Sonny Gray is going to
- 34:48Speaker 2: end up not coming. returning but ladies and gentlemen that
- 34:51Speaker 2: does it for our annual five red socks that won't
- 34:54Speaker 2: be back next season but let me know your thoughts
- 34:57Speaker 2: down below in the comments do you think any of
- 34:59Speaker 2: these guys are going to be back with the red
- 35:01Speaker 2: socks this year do you think they're going to be
- 35:02Speaker 2: gone let me know do you think some other guys
- 35:04Speaker 2: could be gone from the red socks next year let
- 35:06Speaker 2: me know down below and also let me know what
- 35:08Speaker 2: free agents are you interested in for the red socks
- 35:11Speaker 2: to pursue this coming off season but ladies and gentlemen
- 35:14Speaker 2: that's all i got for now if you kind of
- 35:16Speaker 2: the way out hit the like button subscribe if you're
- 35:19Speaker 2: new And we'll talk to you next time.
