- 0:14Speaker 1: should know. Excited to have a comedy call right now
- 0:18Speaker 1: with the very funny Jake Cox, and he will be
- 0:20Speaker 1: at Billy Frog's tonight and at the Grain Bend tomorrow. Jake,
- 0:23Speaker 1: I am so excited to have you on stage telling
- 0:25Speaker 1: jokes again.
- 0:26Speaker 2: Yeah, me too. I think it's going to be a
- 0:28Speaker 2: lot of fun.
- 0:29Speaker 1: Now, how long has it been since you've done comedy?
- 0:31Speaker 1: Has it been a minute?
- 0:32Speaker 2: Yeah, I kind of thought of a habit during COVID.
- 0:35Speaker 2: A lot of things changed back then.
- 0:37Speaker 1: Well, you are one of my favorites from back in
- 0:39Speaker 1: the day, and I was so excited. I reached out
- 0:41Speaker 1: to three friends who I have not seen on stage
- 0:44Speaker 1: in a long time, Reed Baxter, Jake Cox, and Adam Wilka,
- 0:47Speaker 1: and all three said yes, which is awesome. And all
- 0:51Speaker 1: three are going to be on stage tonight at Billy Frogs.
- 0:53Speaker 1: That's a free show. Folks, come out. Be a part
- 0:55Speaker 1: of it. It's going to be a blast. If tonight
- 0:57Speaker 1: doesn't work, you can join us tomorrow night. There are
- 0:59Speaker 1: tickets for tomorrow night, but you can win tickets as well.
- 1:02Speaker 1: I'll tell you how to do that here in a bit. Now,
- 1:03Speaker 1: have you worked with Adam or Reed in the past, Jake?
- 1:06Speaker 2: I actually have worked with both of them. So this
- 1:08Speaker 2: is going to be a lot of fun hanging out
- 1:10Speaker 2: with those guys again.
- 1:11Speaker 1: Well, and again, three very, very funny comics. And like
- 1:14Speaker 1: I said, I haven't seen you guys in a while.
- 1:15Speaker 1: And I was like, you know, it would be really
- 1:16Speaker 1: fun to bring back some people that I haven't seen
- 1:19Speaker 1: for a long time. Get them out, doing some stuff.
- 1:22Speaker 1: And are we going to see some new material tonight?
- 1:24Speaker 1: Are we going to see some dust off some of
- 1:26Speaker 1: the tried and true stuff tonight or a little bit
- 1:28Speaker 1: of everything?
- 1:28Speaker 2: A little bit of everything. Definitely trying out some new material.
- 1:31Speaker 2: I've got some brand new trauma to debut for an audience.
- 1:36Speaker 2: But also dusting off some of the old stuff, some
- 1:38Speaker 2: stuff that I know tried and true.
- 1:40Speaker 1: Now, the thing that's really fun, it's not like you've
- 1:43Speaker 1: just been doing nothing for all this time. You are
- 1:46Speaker 1: like marrying people. Let's talk a little bit about that
- 1:48Speaker 1: because I thought that was such a cool thing when
- 1:50Speaker 1: I first met you. I'm like, wait a minute, you're
- 1:52Speaker 1: a wedding officiant? So how long have you been doing that, Jake?
- 1:55Speaker 2: Yeah, so I started this professionally in 2019, but I've
- 2:00Speaker 2: been marrying people on and off for over 20 years.
- 2:04Speaker 1: So you've probably married more people than any of my
- 2:05Speaker 1: other friends. Some of them married like one person, but
- 2:08Speaker 1: maybe two or three. But you've married hundreds of people.
- 2:11Speaker 2: Yeah, literally. A couple hundred, a few hundred couples a year.
- 2:15Speaker 2: So it's pretty big for me.
- 2:17Speaker 1: I think that's really cool. And again, not afraid to
- 2:20Speaker 1: get up in front of a crowd of people and
- 2:21Speaker 1: do whatever it is you're doing. So if it's marrying
- 2:25Speaker 1: somebody or... like tonight and tomorrow night, getting up and
- 2:27Speaker 1: sharing some silly stories of sometimes it's things that didn't
- 2:31Speaker 1: go well, but we can laugh about it later. And
- 2:34Speaker 1: those are my favorite things. Would you describe yourself as
- 2:36Speaker 1: more of a storyteller?
- 2:38Speaker 2: Oh, absolutely. I'm a storyteller kind of guy. I'll probably
- 2:42Speaker 2: even share some weddings that have gone a little off
- 2:45Speaker 2: the rails with you guys tonight.
- 2:47Speaker 1: I can't wait because I've not heard that. But I'll
- 2:49Speaker 1: bet there's probably, you know, doing what you do that
- 2:52Speaker 1: lends itself to some kind of funny, interesting things, doesn't it?
- 2:55Speaker 2: Oh, absolutely. And I do, you know, weddings scaling from
- 3:00Speaker 2: the little tiny intimate elopements to the giant ones at
- 3:04Speaker 2: the wedding barns. And all of them have kind of... Weird,
- 3:07Speaker 2: unique problems, and there's a lot of laughs.
- 3:09Speaker 1: Well, I am excited. And there's probably some folks right now, like,
- 3:13Speaker 1: riding to work, and they're hearing this going, wait a minute,
- 3:15Speaker 1: I think that's the guy that married us. So, you know, again,
- 3:19Speaker 1: you probably get in front of more people than most
- 3:22Speaker 1: of the comics do, because every wedding that I've been to, there's,
- 3:25Speaker 1: you know, a bunch of people at every wedding. So
- 3:27Speaker 1: what would you say is the biggest audience you've been
- 3:29Speaker 1: in front of for a wedding? Is it hundreds of people?
- 3:32Speaker 2: Yeah, it has been hundreds of people. I think I
- 3:34Speaker 2: had a wedding with about 400 people in attendance. So yeah,
- 3:38Speaker 2: it's been pretty big to keep that.
- 3:40Speaker 1: That is awesome. Well, I am excited to see you tonight.
- 3:43Speaker 1: You're going to probably accidentally marry some people while you're
- 3:45Speaker 1: at the bar tonight. So folks, if you want to
- 3:47Speaker 1: get hitched, just show up. The next thing you know,
- 3:49Speaker 1: Jake's got a whole bunch of people married to each
- 3:51Speaker 1: other who didn't intend to be. But it's going to
- 3:53Speaker 1: be a whole lot of fun tonight. Again, Adam Wilka,
- 3:57Speaker 1: Jake Cox, and Reed Baxter, three very funny comics who, again,
- 4:02Speaker 1: I haven't seen in forever. And I'm so excited to
- 4:04Speaker 1: see you guys tonight and tomorrow night. And again, I
- 4:07Speaker 1: thank you very much for taking a little bit of
- 4:09Speaker 1: time to chat with me today. And if people want
- 4:12Speaker 1: to follow you on social media and stuff, where do
- 4:14Speaker 1: they go to follow Jake Cox?
- 4:15Speaker 2: Oh, yeah. My social media presence probably isn't what it
- 4:18Speaker 2: should be, but they can definitely visit my wedding website. Yeah,
- 4:22Speaker 2: there you go.
- 4:23Speaker 1: That's cool. Because there's somebody sitting in traffic right now going,
- 4:26Speaker 1: I've been meaning to get married. How do they find
- 4:29Speaker 1: you there?
- 4:30Speaker 2: SiouxFallsWeddingEfficient.com.
- 4:34Speaker 1: Very nice. Well, I will see you this evening and
- 4:36Speaker 1: again tomorrow, and I am so excited. Jake, thank you again.
- 4:38Speaker 2: Oh, absolutely. Good talking to you, Jeff.
- 4:41Speaker 1: Again, Jake Cox, one of the very funny comics you're
- 4:43Speaker 1: going to see tonight. Again, it's a free show every
- 4:45Speaker 1: Thursday at Billy Frogs, and I would love to have
- 4:47Speaker 1: you come out and join us tonight. There's not a
- 4:49Speaker 1: ton of room in there, so if you want to
- 4:51Speaker 1: do tonight, get there early. Get there at like 7 o'clock.
- 4:53Speaker 1: Maybe have some dinner, have some drinks, whatever. Show is
- 4:56Speaker 1: at 7.30. It's one hour long. Same thing tomorrow night.
- 4:59Speaker 1: The door is open at 7 o'clock. The show is
- 5:01Speaker 1: at 7.30 tomorrow night. That's at the Grain Bin. You
- 5:04Speaker 1: can get all the details on that show at SiouxFallsComedyClub.com.
