- Lucas: Welcome back to Learn Spanish with Fexingo. I'm Lucas. Luna: And I'm Luna. Hey, last episode we learned how to buy a drink at the park, like water or juice. Lucas: Right. Today we're going to focus on something more specific: ordering a soda. You know, a fizzy drink. Luna: Ooh, I love soda. So what's the first thing I'd say? 'I want a soda'? Lucas: Exactly. 'Quiero una soda.' Let's break it down. Quiero — I want. Una soda — a soda. Luna: Quiero una soda. Lucas: Perfect. Now, the vendor might ask you, '¿De qué sabor?' — What flavor? Luna: ¿De qué sabor? So they want to know if I want cola, lemon, orange... Lucas: Yes. So you answer, 'De cola, por favor.' Or 'De limón,' etc. Luna: De cola, por favor. Lucas: Great. Then you'll want to know the price: '¿Cuánto cuesta?' Luna: ¿Cuánto cuesta? Lucas: And when you pay, they hand you the soda and say 'Aquí tienes.' Here you go. Luna: Aquí tienes. So I'd say 'Gracias.' Lucas: Exactly. Let's put it all together. Imagine you're at the park. You go to a little stand. Luna: Okay, I'll be me. Quiero una soda. Lucas: ¿De qué sabor? Luna: De cola, por favor. Lucas: ¿Cuánto cuesta? Luna: Two dollars. Lucas: Aquí tienes. Luna: Gracias. That was smooth. Lucas: You did great. Now, a quick thing: you can also say 'un refresco' for soda, but 'una soda' is common too. Luna: Got it. So 'Quiero una soda' is my go-to. Lucas: Let's practice the phrases once more. Repeat after me: Quiero una soda. Luna: Quiero una soda. Lucas: ¿De qué sabor? Luna: ¿De qué sabor? Lucas: De cola, por favor. Luna: De cola, por favor. Lucas: ¿Cuánto cuesta? Luna: ¿Cuánto cuesta? Lucas: Aquí tienes. Luna: Aquí tienes. Lucas: You know, it's funny — the more you practice these little exchanges, the more natural they feel. Luna: Totally.
