• 0:07
Speaker 1: The Season with Peter Scheger is a production of the
• 0:09
Speaker 1: NFL in partnership with iHeartRadio. What's Up, Everybody, Welcome to
• 0:24
Speaker 1: the Season with Peter Scheger. It's the podcast where we
• 0:28
Speaker 1: cover the league every single day, three hundred and sixty
• 0:30
Speaker 1: five days a year, and we give you the most
• 0:32
Speaker 1: immediate and in depth analysis and reactions. We typically like
• 0:36
Speaker 1: to interview coaches, general managers, team owners, certain players, ex players,
• 0:42
Speaker 1: media personalities. Sometimes we just want the voice of the fans.
• 0:49
Speaker 1: Last night was Monday Night Football. It was September eleventh.
• 0:53
Speaker 1: The Jets put on a show like no other show
• 0:57
Speaker 1: we have seen for a home opener for MetLife Stadium.
• 1:01
Speaker 1: There were celebrities on the field before the game, celebrities
• 1:04
Speaker 1: such as Justin Timberlake, celebrities such as Jake Paul, celebrities
• 1:10
Speaker 1: up and down, inside and out, football luminaries, hockey luminaries,
• 1:16
Speaker 1: NBA luminaries, celebrities in the entertainment field. Edie Falco was there.
• 1:22
Speaker 1: We get to the start of the game and they
• 1:24
Speaker 1: turn the lights off and all of a sudden, the
• 1:27
Speaker 1: U two is blasting and there in the pitch dark
• 1:32
Speaker 1: coming out like a light that's forty years in the
• 1:36
Speaker 1: making is number eight, Aaron Rodgers starting from the tunnel
• 1:40
Speaker 1: with an American flag, and it is hard not to
• 1:45
Speaker 1: think this is one of the coolest things ever. And
• 1:50
Speaker 1: then the game starts. Bills get a first down, then
• 1:54
Speaker 1: go three and out. The Jets get the ball and
• 1:58
Speaker 1: on the fourth snap of Aaron rodgers Jets career, this
• 2:03
  Speaker 1: is what happens.
• 2:04
Speaker 2: Takes the snap drops back the middle under pressure and
• 2:07
Speaker 2: he King's sack back to the thirty two yard gone
• 2:10
  Speaker 2: by Leonard Floyd.
• 2:12
Speaker 1: So the Bills get a big negative.
• 2:15
Speaker 2: And Aaron Rodgers gets up with a limp. Aaron Rodgers
• 2:19
Speaker 2: right now, does it looked one hundred percent?
• 2:21
  Speaker 3: Right?
• 2:22
Speaker 2: Well, that's a good light lit because you got Leonard
• 2:25
Speaker 2: Floyd the right He's gone down. Then Aaron Rodgers is
• 2:27
Speaker 2: sitting down in the field, he's hurt. Eleven fifteen to
• 2:32
Speaker 2: go in the opening quarter and Aaron Rodgers is injured
• 2:37
Speaker 2: on the sack by Leonard Floyd, and the Jets training
• 2:40
Speaker 2: staff surrounds him and sack. Wilson pops up and starts
• 2:44
Speaker 2: to get ready and take some warm up throws.
• 2:48
Speaker 1: Look like you might have got that left ankle twisted
• 2:51
Speaker 1: as he went down and.
• 2:54
Speaker 2: As we're taking another look at the replay, and it
• 2:58
Speaker 2: looks as if when Floyd dragged him down he toe
• 3:02
Speaker 2: picked a bit and Aaron Rodgers right now gingerly walking
• 3:06
  Speaker 2: off the field.
• 3:08
Speaker 1: With a trainer on either side. Rogers wouldn't take another
• 3:11
Speaker 1: snap after that. As we record this Tuesday morning, first thing,
• 3:15
Speaker 1: it has been confirmed. It's an Achilles' injury. That's the
• 3:17
Speaker 1: season end. There. There's no guarantee Rodgers will be back
• 3:21
Speaker 1: on the field next year for the Jets. It might
• 3:24
Speaker 1: all be over like that in a flash. Four snaps
• 3:28
Speaker 1: as a New York Jet, never completed a pass as
• 3:31
Speaker 1: a New York Jet, and after an off season like
• 3:35
Speaker 1: no other in New York, and for Aaron Rodgers, it
• 3:41
Speaker 1: could be done. I bring on my producer, Aaron wang
• 3:45
Speaker 1: Kaufman erin. I didn't expect this to be our Week
• 3:48
Speaker 1: two podcast. I didn't expect us to devote it to
• 3:50
Speaker 1: Aaron Rodgers, but we are doing an instant reaction podcast.
• 3:55
Speaker 1: Where were you when you saw the injury and what
• 3:57
Speaker 1: was your initial reactions?
• 3:59
Speaker 4: So I'm watching in my office and texting with my
• 4:03
Speaker 4: dad and with some friends as well, and and uh,
• 4:07
Speaker 4: you know, my dad and I are dissecting what the
• 4:08
Speaker 4: Bills are doing on offense, and then you know Jets
• 4:12
Speaker 4: have the ball and I was like, oh, wow, Rogers
• 4:15
Speaker 4: just went down. My dad's always like a few seconds
• 4:17
Speaker 4: ahead of me because he's watching on TV stream.
• 4:19
Speaker 1: He's also older, and that's just how it goes exactly.
• 4:22
Speaker 1: They get faster internet.
• 4:25
Speaker 4: And I was like, wow, that's not good, and like
• 4:29
Speaker 4: there were a lot of injuries on Sunday. You never
• 4:32
Speaker 4: want injuries at all, and I also don't want to
• 4:35
Speaker 4: see injuries to the team that we're playing against, like
• 4:38
Speaker 4: as Bills fans, like, we don't want Rogers to get hurt.
• 4:41
Speaker 4: You you want to win a real game. And it
• 4:45
Speaker 4: was it. It took the wind out of me, not
• 4:49
Speaker 4: even being a Jets fan, like rooting for the other team.
• 4:52
Speaker 4: It was I don't know it. There were so many
• 4:55
Speaker 4: injuries already to think that we were going to get
• 4:57
Speaker 4: another one, and the biggest one was terrifying.
• 5:03
Speaker 1: It was crushing. And I speak on behalf of NFL
• 5:08
Speaker 1: speak on behalf of a fan of New York teams,
• 5:13
Speaker 1: and I think I think now as a fan of Rogers,
• 5:16
Speaker 1: as a guy like he totally won everybody over this
• 5:19
Speaker 1: offseason and it was authentic, but I can mourn about it,
• 5:23
Speaker 1: you and I can dish about it. For this podcast,
• 5:26
Speaker 1: I wanted to go to the true fans, and I've
• 5:29
Speaker 1: got two of them. One of them is a world
• 5:32
Speaker 1: famous actor and comedian and a guy that you have
• 5:35
Speaker 1: seen on movies like The Bird Cage, on TV shows
• 5:39
Speaker 1: like The Simpsons, where he plays about twenty voices. And
• 5:42
Speaker 1: he's also been on the season with Peter Schrager representing
• 5:45
Speaker 1: an optimistic Jets fan this past summer. A very different
• 5:48
Speaker 1: version of him, I'm sure we're getting in a few
• 5:50
Speaker 1: minutes here. It's the actor and comedian Hank Azaria. And
• 5:54
Speaker 1: in addition to Hank, I've got a friend named David
• 5:57
Speaker 1: who has been a Jets season ticket holder since nineteen
• 6:00
Speaker 1: sixty six. We've met in recent years at a Super
• 6:02
Speaker 1: Bowl event. David rolls in some pretty cool circles. He
• 6:05
Speaker 1: knows a lot of NFL owners. He's also been to
• 6:08
Speaker 1: just about every Jets home game since they were in
• 6:11
Speaker 1: Shay Stadium till when they moved to Giant Stadium to
• 6:15
Speaker 1: what it is now MetLife Stadium. When you're a season
• 6:17
Speaker 1: ticket holder since nineteen sixty six, you've seen it all.
• 6:20
Speaker 1: I want to speak with David about what he saw
• 6:23
Speaker 1: last night in the building. But first usually laugh at
• 6:28
Speaker 1: him when he's doing things. There's no laughing here, mister
• 6:30
Speaker 1: Hanka's Area. All right, we're about twelve hours removed from
• 6:34
Speaker 1: the injury in the moment that shook New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Westchester,
• 6:41
  Speaker 1: South Florida.
• 6:42
  Speaker 5: You name it.
• 6:43
Speaker 1: There's Jets fans everywhere in one of my favorites, this
• 6:49
Speaker 1: guy here, we had him on in the summer. We
• 6:50
Speaker 1: talked about his Jets fandom echoes deep and we want
• 6:55
Speaker 1: the raw reaction. Hanka's Area. Welcome back to the season
• 6:58
  Speaker 1: with Peter Schregg.
• 7:01
Speaker 6: Thanks, I guess yeah, it's great to be here, Peter,
• 7:04
Speaker 6: really great, great reason. How are you feeling, honest genuinely
• 7:11
Speaker 6: still kind of in shock, like a shock, actual shock,
• 7:14
Speaker 6: like a life event shock. I was just telling your
• 7:17
Speaker 6: producer Aaron that there's certain Jets Mets nicks. Okay, there's
• 7:22
Speaker 6: certain moments in that journey. Mostly it's comical and it's
• 7:25
Speaker 6: sad sack, and you love the team and you know,
• 7:28
Speaker 6: you know, the aura that hangs over them is not great.
• 7:32
Speaker 6: You live with it and there are times when though
• 7:35
Speaker 6: it's not really funny at all. The Mets collapse in
• 7:39
Speaker 6: seven was not funny, not fun actually depressed me for
• 7:44
Speaker 6: a couple of weeks.
• 7:45
Speaker 1: I was there that was against the Marlins in the
• 7:47
Speaker 1: final game of the season, and I remember I was
• 7:49
  Speaker 1: their unbelievable collapse.
• 7:51
Speaker 6: Yeah, that whole three week collapse was brutal, and last
• 7:55
Speaker 6: year's Met semi collapse was somewhat reminiscent. This is all
• 8:00
Speaker 6: up there with you know, there's certain mo like you know,
• 8:04
Speaker 6: Charles Smith not being able to make that lay up
• 8:06
Speaker 6: again to Jordan Bowles, right, they just stay in your
• 8:09
Speaker 6: mind and you know this might be the granddaddy of
• 8:12
  Speaker 6: them all.
• 8:13
Speaker 1: This might be crazy.
• 8:14
Speaker 6: Yeah, let's go through.
• 8:16
Speaker 1: I mean, because we were texting at four a m.
• 8:18
Speaker 1: This morning, you and I were both awake, and you
• 8:20
Speaker 1: were the first person I thought of when this thing's
• 8:22
Speaker 1: going down, because we talked about it over the summer.
• 8:25
Speaker 1: But like the build up of the summer is one thing.
• 8:29
Speaker 1: The building last night, it's almost if you look at
• 8:32
Speaker 1: it's like a ghastly joke of Rogers coming out in
• 8:35
Speaker 1: the dark with the lights on nine to eleven with
• 8:37
Speaker 1: the American flag, and he played it. He never completed
• 8:40
  Speaker 1: a pass.
• 8:41
Speaker 6: No you couldn't. I mean, you know this old story
• 8:44
Speaker 6: about Red Fox, Peter Red Fox Herett was Sanford and Son,
• 8:49
Speaker 6: and you know that theme music was okay, that would
• 8:55
Speaker 6: when he played Vegas as a stand up, that would
• 8:58
Speaker 6: play him out. That was his intro music. It was
• 9:00
Speaker 6: famous in show business. We parodied it on The Simpsons
• 9:03
Speaker 6: one time. Apparently one night there was no audience for
• 9:05
Speaker 6: whatever is and there's like three people out there and
• 9:08
Speaker 6: the gentlemen Red Fox and he comes out. He looks
• 9:14
Speaker 6: out at the audience, he goes three people, I'm not
• 9:16
Speaker 6: playing a show for no three damn people, and walked
• 9:19
Speaker 6: off and they played his music when they carted Aaron off.
• 9:26
Speaker 6: I heard the Red Fox music in my mind, I'm like,
• 9:29
Speaker 6: this is that. This is just insane. You know, you
• 9:32
Speaker 6: run out with a.
• 9:32
Speaker 1: Foul Grandpa Simpson walks into Mo's with the hat and
• 9:36
Speaker 1: walks right out. Is that what we're thinking like that?
• 9:39
Speaker 6: I think it was like that. That might be when
• 9:41
Speaker 6: we used it, but it was It's just absurd, it's crazy.
• 9:46
Speaker 6: And then I was thinking like, well, because I was
• 9:49
Speaker 6: half expecting him to get hurt this year. He's you know,
• 9:51
Speaker 6: he's not a young man, He's like, well, if this
• 9:54
Speaker 6: happened week eight, would that be better? And you know
• 9:56
Speaker 6: what the answer would be, Yes, it would have been better.
• 9:58
Speaker 6: Lucy would have gotten to see what was what I mean,
• 10:01
Speaker 6: it would have been almost exactly like Brett Favre went
• 10:05
Speaker 6: eight and three before he got hurt for us. But Peter,
• 10:10
Speaker 6: it's just you know, you.
• 10:11
Speaker 1: Know, I have a lot of Jets fans, and one
• 10:15
Speaker 1: of them text me like, I'm just convinced we can't
• 10:17
  Speaker 1: have nice things.
• 10:18
Speaker 6: Yeah, I texted you that too. Yeah, that's really no.
• 10:22
Speaker 6: You start to kind of believe it, you know, I
• 10:25
Speaker 6: don't actually wrote Mike Puma wrote a book about the Mets,
• 10:27
Speaker 6: and I wrote the forward and I wrote about being Mets, Jets,
• 10:30
Speaker 6: Nicks and how it's actually made me quite a negative person.
• 10:33
Speaker 6: It really has. It's affected me genuinely, like in business,
• 10:37
Speaker 6: you know, trying to get projects made in show business
• 10:40
Speaker 6: is very hard, and with the first sign of trouble,
• 10:43
Speaker 6: I'm always like, well that's it. Whenever it's not going
• 10:45
Speaker 6: to happen, and my partners are always like, why are
• 10:48
Speaker 6: you so negative, I'm like, because I'm a Mets, Jets
• 10:51
Speaker 6: and Knicks fan, that's why. And they laugh, and I say, no,
• 10:54
  Speaker 6: I'm not kidding.
• 10:55
  Speaker 1: I'm serious.
• 10:56
Speaker 6: It's absolutely true. I have come to expect Aaron Rodgers'
• 11:01
Speaker 6: outcomes like that, like that's it, we're done, forget it,
• 11:05
Speaker 6: you know, and of nice things.
• 11:07
Speaker 1: Not to rub salt in the wounds here, but like
• 11:09
Speaker 1: the thing that no one else was talking about that
• 11:12
Speaker 1: the Jets coaches who I speak with often were saying,
• 11:14
Speaker 1: is that Rogers would be there till eleven o'clock at night,
• 11:17
Speaker 1: like working with random backup running backs on, like getting
• 11:20
Speaker 1: the offense down. I reported this on Fox's pregame on Sunday.
• 11:24
Speaker 1: He did something called a firing line exercise where he
• 11:27
Speaker 1: would line up all the young players and they'd go
• 11:29
Speaker 1: through every hand signal that he could possibly do, and
• 11:31
Speaker 1: they had to know it. If they got it wrong,
• 11:32
Speaker 1: they had to keep going till they got it right.
• 11:34
Speaker 1: Like he was so invested in texting was Sola this morning,
• 11:37
Speaker 1: and it's just like you feel for the fans, you
• 11:39
Speaker 1: feel for us, you can pity us, you feel for Rogers.
• 11:44
Speaker 6: Actually, you know, I had a crazy journey with this
• 11:46
Speaker 6: because I disliked Aaron Rodgers by his end of the
• 11:49
Speaker 6: time with Green Bay. Between all that craziness that was
• 11:53
Speaker 6: going on there, and then the vaccination stuff and then
• 11:58
Speaker 6: some other stuff. Right, I was like, man and being
• 12:02
Speaker 6: a Hollywood creature as I am, like, you know what,
• 12:05
Speaker 6: you know, what you don't need in most situations is
• 12:07
Speaker 6: diva energy coming like old man, especially old man diva
• 12:11
Speaker 6: energy like we just I was like, please just get
• 12:15
Speaker 6: me Derek Carr, please, which is a nice daddy presence
• 12:19
Speaker 6: in there, nice young fella who's gonna be a good
• 12:22
Speaker 6: daddy and gonna work really hard. And I have a
• 12:25
Speaker 6: feeling that Derek Carr was going to really uh improve
• 12:30
Speaker 6: with a change of scenery, which we'll see if he does.
• 12:33
Speaker 6: And then Man Rogers completely won me over just because
• 12:37
  Speaker 6: I didn't think he'd even show up for OTA's right,
• 12:40
Speaker 6: if he'd work with the young receivers, I mean even
• 12:44
Speaker 6: before hard knocks giving back all that money and everything
• 12:47
  Speaker 6: he did. And I'm like, I tweeted, I whatever I
• 12:50
Speaker 6: put out, whatever you young people do on social I
• 12:52
Speaker 6: put out this thing of he's gonna do this, He's
• 12:55
Speaker 6: gonna he's gonna recreate your namath for us when he
• 12:57
Speaker 6: runs off the field. I just totally bought and I
• 13:01
Speaker 6: just I fell in love with the guy, you know,
• 13:03
Speaker 6: and I was happy for him, happy Jets, happy for Sala.
• 13:08
Speaker 6: I was even happy for Woody Johnson, which takes a
• 13:10
Speaker 6: lot for me to get happy for that guy.
• 13:12
Speaker 1: We talk about the humor and the gas and the stuff.
• 13:14
Speaker 1: It like they go to the box and what he's wearing,
• 13:16
Speaker 1: this ridiculous sauce gardener chain. Well, and it's just like
• 13:19
Speaker 1: that is so Jets. Like he doesn't take off the chain.
• 13:22
Speaker 1: He still has the ridiculous chain on and he's still
• 13:25
Speaker 1: caught up in the and it's just it is. It's
• 13:27
  Speaker 1: the Jets.
• 13:28
Speaker 6: It's Samuel Jets man. At bottom line is you'll look
• 13:32
Speaker 6: back at this right and you'll just say, Samuel Jets.
• 13:35
Speaker 1: Fun well lasted. Now here's the thing. There is a
• 13:37
Speaker 1: whole season to play. You did beat the Bills last night.
• 13:40
Speaker 1: I'm not silver lining guy in this. It's almost secondary
• 13:44
Speaker 1: topic that they won. But can Zach Wilson just hold
• 13:47
Speaker 1: the fort down and rely on the run game and
• 13:49
Speaker 1: the defense and can we still be a playoff team?
• 13:51
  Speaker 6: I don't know, We'll see. I mean that sucks too.
• 13:55
Speaker 6: It's like if Zach was gonna feels like Zach needed
• 13:58
Speaker 6: a year or two, didn't if he was, and now
• 14:01
Speaker 6: he's thrown back into the fire, which will probably end
• 14:05
Speaker 6: his career because he probably not ready for it. There's
• 14:08
Speaker 6: my you know, sunny Jets outlook coming forward. But you know,
• 14:13
Speaker 6: I probably here's the thing about being Jets metchniks. When
• 14:16
Speaker 6: you predict doom and gloom, you're usually right. And well, now,
• 14:21
Speaker 6: I guess we'll really see. To me, kind of looked
• 14:24
Speaker 6: the same last night, like I've you know, he played well,
• 14:27
Speaker 6: but I've seen him play that well. Yeah, but I
• 14:31
Speaker 6: don't know who else you bring in. Nothing else seems
• 14:34
Speaker 6: realistic right now. And I guess I'm a poker player.
• 14:37
Speaker 6: I was playing poker last night while this is going on.
• 14:39
Speaker 6: To me, Zach is an inside straight draw, I meaning
• 14:42
Speaker 6: four cards, you're outs with two cards to come. That's
• 14:45
Speaker 6: a sixteen percent chance. That's about how I feel about Zach.
• 14:48
Speaker 6: He's an inside straight draw.
• 14:50
Speaker 1: It's an incredible analogy. It's incredible. I'll leave you on this.
• 14:55
Speaker 1: You think back to the pregame. You've got Timberlake on
• 14:58
Speaker 1: the sidelines, you got Jake Paul being trotted out, you
• 15:01
Speaker 1: got all these luminary celebrities. Did you, in a little
• 15:06
Speaker 1: bit of a glimmer of your jets cynical mind, think
• 15:08
Speaker 1: this a little bit much before we get this game going.
• 15:11
Speaker 1: Let's just play football.
• 15:12
  Speaker 2: Oh.
• 15:12
Speaker 6: I've felt the hubris of this for a while, I
• 15:14
Speaker 6: really have. I mean, all the super Bowl talk and
• 15:16
Speaker 6: I'm like, you guys, please, and I've been saying uh
• 15:20
Speaker 6: to anyone who listened. You know, I'll really just be
• 15:23
Speaker 6: happy if we play well over the first five six games.
• 15:25
Speaker 6: I mean honestly, you know, I mean, I want to
• 15:28
Speaker 6: go to the playoffs, but I really let's let's calm
• 15:33
Speaker 6: down here for a second. Rogers usually starts slow, and
• 15:37
Speaker 6: he's not young, and I mean, so yeah, it was
• 15:42
  Speaker 6: a lot, a lot of hubrists and I feel, I
• 15:45
Speaker 6: honestly feel embarrassed, literally embarrassed.
• 15:48
Speaker 1: I feel stupid, all right, get into this because there
• 15:51
Speaker 1: is a you think about buying in after knowing, and
• 15:54
Speaker 1: you're you're coursened with this and you know this is
• 15:57
Speaker 1: what Jimmy and Jet Finn is and yet you let
• 15:59
Speaker 1: yourself get excited again. I feel that, you know.
• 16:01
  Speaker 6: It's even worse. I had to I had, I got
• 16:03
  Speaker 6: a little I missed it, I guess mercifully, I had
• 16:06
  Speaker 6: a school function. Sorry, it's loud. I had a school
• 16:08
Speaker 6: function and I had I got to the game about
• 16:13
Speaker 6: I watched it with my poker buddies the game last night.
• 16:15
Speaker 6: Got there ten minutes lad, I walk in smiling, and
• 16:17
Speaker 6: everybody's looking at me like, you don't know, do you.
• 16:20
  Speaker 6: I'm like, no, I didn't see it, and you hadn't
• 16:23
Speaker 6: seen it. I walked in like five ten minutes after
• 16:27
Speaker 6: it happened, and everybody's like, no, what. And I was like,
• 16:31
Speaker 6: and I thought they were, you know, poker guys. I
• 16:32
Speaker 6: thought they were kidding me. I thought they were joking,
• 16:34
Speaker 6: of course, and then I saw it was all too real,
• 16:39
Speaker 6: and you know, it was the saddest part was like
• 16:41
Speaker 6: a buddy of mine, who a couple of buddies just
• 16:43
Speaker 6: love ribbing me about you know, you know what's going
• 16:46
Speaker 6: to happen. You know what's going to happen with the
• 16:48
Speaker 6: Jets and the Mets. And even those guys didn't have
• 16:51
Speaker 6: the heart to to give me, to give me crap
• 16:55
Speaker 6: about it. They were like actually looking at me with sympathy.
• 16:58
Speaker 6: I'm like, I think that's the worst part of all
• 16:59
Speaker 6: this is you looking at me like you feel bad
• 17:01
  Speaker 6: for me.
• 17:02
Speaker 1: Right, It's the first time like Patriots and Bills and
• 17:05
Speaker 1: Dolphins are like feeling bad for the Jets fans because
• 17:08
Speaker 1: even they can appreciate the human the feeling of letdown
• 17:11
Speaker 1: and just as horrible.
• 17:14
Speaker 6: I mean, at least giant fans can't say nothing today.
• 17:19
Speaker 1: What was worse winning and losing Rogers for the season
• 17:23
Speaker 1: or losing forty to nothing on national TV while you're
• 17:25
Speaker 1: wearing a blue shirt's doing a blue out.
• 17:28
Speaker 6: I'd probably be I'd honestly be more embarrassed by that
• 17:30
  Speaker 6: giant loss.
• 17:31
Speaker 1: Personally, man, I feel you. I feel like you're the
• 17:35
Speaker 1: voice of thousands and thousands of fans, and you know,
• 17:38
Speaker 1: Jets fans they're all over La now, they're all over floor,
• 17:40
Speaker 1: like I met that when I let it do it,
• 17:42
Speaker 1: like New York fans are everywhere, and this one I
• 17:45
Speaker 1: felt like reverberated throughout the country. And you're the voice
• 17:47
Speaker 1: of it right now on the pod.
• 17:49
Speaker 6: That said, I mean, it was a gutty win. I
• 17:51
Speaker 6: got to give them credit. I mean, that was amazing
• 17:54
Speaker 6: and it's just but how well that defense played, because
• 17:58
Speaker 6: last year they were great, but they four turnovers. They
• 18:00
Speaker 6: didn't get that many turnovers last year, you know, and
• 18:03
Speaker 6: it was amazing to see them busted up like that
• 18:07
Speaker 6: and get that gutty Win. Who knows. Maybe football is
• 18:10
Speaker 6: a crazy, crazy thing. Man, Stranger things have happened. Who
• 18:14
Speaker 6: knows what could happen this season.
• 18:16
Speaker 1: So I was talking to coaches this morning from the Jets,
• 18:19
Speaker 1: texting them, and the real takeaway for me is like,
• 18:21
Speaker 1: all right, if Hackett had won, or if Todd Downing
• 18:24
Speaker 1: had won, or if Sala had won with Rogers, it's
• 18:26
Speaker 1: a great story. If these guys can do it with
• 18:29
Speaker 1: this team without Rogers after the deflation, now that's a
• 18:32
Speaker 1: really great story and it almost adds another chapter. So
• 18:35
Speaker 1: there is a silver lining, cool wrinkle to this. If
• 18:38
Speaker 1: they could put it together, It's it's almost like, hey,
• 18:41
Speaker 1: we won one for the Gipper, but we also did
• 18:42
  Speaker 1: it for ourselves.
• 18:44
Speaker 6: Yeah, it was impressive. You gotta admit that they that
• 18:47
Speaker 6: was demoralizing, demoralizing and they throre down ten and they
• 18:52
Speaker 6: came back and won that game. I mean that's something
• 18:55
Speaker 6: that is, you know, proud of those guys on nine
• 18:57
Speaker 6: to eleven. I mean that was good.
• 19:00
Speaker 1: Hanka's area, We love you, Thank you for coming on.
• 19:02
Speaker 1: I know you're busy and obviously this morning is not
• 19:05
Speaker 1: a fun and happy topic for Jets fans, and yet
• 19:08
Speaker 1: I felt like we needed to get your insurer actions.
• 19:10
Speaker 6: Can I shack on a personal Notekay, I just got
• 19:12
Speaker 6: a hair looking okay, and I just the girl cut
• 19:15
Speaker 6: my hair. The young lady cut my hair, and she
• 19:17
Speaker 6: asked me, are you a senior? So that that was
• 19:20
Speaker 6: like insult to injury.
• 19:21
Speaker 1: Today, Good morning, Hank.
• 19:23
Speaker 6: I said, yes, I'm an old Jets fan.
• 19:25
  Speaker 5: It's good.
• 19:26
Speaker 1: That's it. On that note, we love you man, thank
• 19:28
Speaker 1: you for joining. This is like a shive a call.
• 19:36
Speaker 1: In my culture, we call this and it wasn't enough
• 19:39
Speaker 1: just to have our guy Hank's area call in and
• 19:43
Speaker 1: give his fifteen minutes of sadness and dietract. I want
• 19:46
Speaker 1: to go to maybe the biggest Jets fan I know.
• 19:49
Speaker 1: It's my friend David. David has been a season ticket
• 19:52
Speaker 1: holder for many many years. He travels on the road,
• 19:54
Speaker 1: goes to games. He never misses a home game. And i'mlike, Hank,
• 19:57
Speaker 1: David is actually in the building. David, how are you
• 20:00
  Speaker 1: feeling this morning?
• 20:02
Speaker 5: But today I'm daged in disbelief, but I'm not shocked.
• 20:07
Speaker 5: Go on, you knew he was on.
• 20:08
  Speaker 1: Explain it.
• 20:09
Speaker 3: You knew he was gonna get Nick. You knew he
• 20:10
Speaker 3: was gonna get banned up. You have a porous offensive line,
• 20:14
Speaker 3: get it. A great Hall of Fame quarterback Aaric Argers,
• 20:17
Speaker 3: but not the most mobile quarterback. And I looked back
• 20:22
Speaker 3: in the top. So Douglas since day one saying I'm
• 20:26
Speaker 3: gonna build an offensive line.
• 20:27
Speaker 5: I'm gonna build an offensive line. He's ignored it. He
• 20:30
  Speaker 5: got Allen.
• 20:30
Speaker 3: I's sorry, you got some other received from Green Bay.
• 20:33
Speaker 3: You get this guy, you got that guy. My heart
• 20:35
Speaker 3: is broken. The defense, solid, great young talent, great heart.
• 20:41
Speaker 5: They didn't quit. They won the game. They beat the Bills.
• 20:44
Speaker 3: They kicked their butt on the line of scrimmage on defense,
• 20:47
Speaker 3: they kick their butt in the secondary.
• 20:50
Speaker 5: But now, what are you doing? Zack Wilson and zero.
• 20:53
Speaker 3: He's a thirty second ranked quarterback out of thirty two
• 20:55
Speaker 3: in the NFL. Everybody knew that going into the season.
• 20:58
Speaker 3: You're sure enough of it last year in the year before.
• 21:01
Speaker 3: You're not gonna win the AFC's, You're not going to
• 21:03
Speaker 3: the playoffs with Zach Wilson.
• 21:06
Speaker 5: GM should have had a backup quarterback.
• 21:09
Speaker 3: It's that simple, solid backup quarterback by Sam Donald. Whoever
• 21:14
Speaker 3: you have at any great team, they got somebody to
• 21:17
  Speaker 3: step in.
• 21:18
Speaker 5: Zach Wilson was, you know, a bad pick move on.
• 21:23
Speaker 3: Sam just Goo moved off from Trey Land, same draft,
• 21:26
  Speaker 3: same draft class.
• 21:27
Speaker 5: But you know, I don't know where you go from here.
• 21:30
  Speaker 5: I'm devastated.
• 21:32
Speaker 1: Take me the high and the low because, like before kickoff,
• 21:35
Speaker 1: you've been a sittent ticket holder since Shaye Stadium.
• 21:37
Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, Chase Stadium. I was there from the beginning. Yeah,
• 21:40
Speaker 3: nineteen sixty six, So.
• 21:42
Speaker 1: You've been there nineteen sixty six. That pregame and you've
• 21:46
Speaker 1: got celebrities and Justin Timberlake is dap In Rocks.
• 21:49
Speaker 3: It was my boys turned to me, all three of
• 21:52
Speaker 3: my sons serving to me and said, I feel like
• 21:54
Speaker 3: I am in Miami. It was seventy five degrees. The
• 21:57
Speaker 3: place was lit up, but it was like Super Bowl
• 22:00
Speaker 3: three years ago, twenty twenty. That kind of electricity, that
• 22:05
Speaker 3: kind of power, kind of enthusiasm, that kind of belief
• 22:09
Speaker 3: that yes, we are here, this is our.
• 22:12
  Speaker 1: Time, right.
• 22:14
  Speaker 5: It never stopped.
• 22:15
Speaker 3: I mean, obviously after that fourth play, we were all
• 22:19
Speaker 3: stunned and shocked, but I never showed the stitium like that. Never,
• 22:23
Speaker 3: even in sixty eight when name of one and Chase
• 22:27
Speaker 3: Citium went to the Super Bowl sixty nine. It was exciting,
• 22:31
Speaker 3: but this was more elected. There's something about ninety eleven.
• 22:35
Speaker 3: The whole country is watching, The whole world is watching.
• 22:38
Speaker 3: Aaron has come in and to everybody's you know, negative
• 22:43
Speaker 3: feelings about him, embraced the team, embraced the culture, embraced
• 22:47
Speaker 3: the city, embraced roadway, embraced the ballet, embraced the restaurant,
• 22:53
Speaker 3: embraced the young kids, helped Makay back then, helped all
• 22:56
Speaker 3: his teammates, cut his salary.
• 22:59
Speaker 5: He did more than all the right things.
• 23:02
Speaker 3: He did all the right things times acts and we're all,
• 23:07
Speaker 3: you know, embracing him and embracing the Jets culture. And
• 23:12
Speaker 3: I don't know how you replaced them. They should have
• 23:15
Speaker 3: had somebody to step in a little bit better than
• 23:18
Speaker 3: Zach Wilson know what he is, but.
• 23:22
  Speaker 5: I don't know.
• 23:22
  Speaker 1: It's it's a cruel joke. I mean, honestly, we had
• 23:25
Speaker 1: Hank's are on before you, the actor and comedian, and
• 23:28
Speaker 1: he said, you know, he was embarrassed because he started
• 23:31
Speaker 1: to believe. And like, if you're a Jets fans in
• 23:34
Speaker 1: sixty six, you know that this isn't going to go swimmingly.
• 23:37
Speaker 1: But he said, I'm embarrassed this morning because I resisted.
• 23:41
Speaker 1: I resisted. I resisted, and as Rogers is coming out
• 23:44
Speaker 1: of that tunnel, I let the good feelings wash over
• 23:47
Speaker 1: me and I let it go and I started to believe.
• 23:49
Speaker 1: And how silly am I? Why would I ever believe?
• 23:52
Speaker 3: You know, I get that, But I don't hold that
• 23:56
Speaker 3: attitude because I would have left a long time ago.
• 23:59
Speaker 3: Even after Rogers went down and I, as saws Zach Gilson,
• 24:02
Speaker 3: a quarterback, I said, we could win this game. We're
• 24:05
Speaker 3: Jets die haod down deep. We're not quitting on them.
• 24:09
Speaker 3: They're not quitting on the field. I watched the guys
• 24:12
Speaker 3: come come back to the locker room at halftime. They
• 24:14
Speaker 3: weren't hanging their heads, they weren't in shock. There was
• 24:18
Speaker 3: a sense that, you know what, in a way, this
• 24:21
Speaker 3: is going to be a true test of who we are.
• 24:23
Speaker 3: Let's go out and prove to the world that we're
• 24:25
Speaker 3: not just one man team.
• 24:26
  Speaker 5: We're a team.
• 24:27
Speaker 3: Maybe Rogers's still that in them. I think his spirits
• 24:30
Speaker 3: with them. How long that could last? You know, because
• 24:33
Speaker 3: eventually it comes down to what you do on the field.
• 24:35
Speaker 3: And the quarterback position. But I don't I don't embrace that.
• 24:39
Speaker 3: I was still proud, still sharing, still screaming. My voice
• 24:43
Speaker 3: is harsh, irom all the screaming. You know, whatever time
• 24:46
Speaker 3: it was midnight with that kick return, beautiful, it was beautiful, great, great, great.
• 24:53
Speaker 3: I give all the credit to the defensive coordinator, guys,
• 24:56
Speaker 3: rock Star, give all the credit to Salah. He embraced
• 25:01
Speaker 3: the proper emotion and let them. Obviously your leaders are
• 25:06
Speaker 3: on offensive defense. They were him, Moseley and both Williams,
• 25:10
Speaker 3: and they can't see enough about those steps. Great talent,
• 25:13
Speaker 3: great young talent, great heart. So yeah, I'm not I'm
• 25:17
Speaker 3: not embarrassed at all.
• 25:18
Speaker 1: In the moment we were texting, you were in the stadium,
• 25:20
Speaker 1: You're like, what are they saying on TV? I'm like,
• 25:22
Speaker 1: I don't have an update. You know, Lisa Salters is
• 25:24
Speaker 1: not exactly on it in the second and it took
• 25:26
Speaker 1: a few drives before they said ankle injury. But I
• 25:28
Speaker 1: said to you over text, I've done this a long time,
• 25:31
Speaker 1: had an ankle injury. I knew it was Achilles. Just
• 25:34
Speaker 1: by the way. With that, I said, Achilles in real time,
• 25:36
Speaker 1: I know this stuff.
• 25:37
Speaker 5: We couldn't tell sitting in the stand, I was.
• 25:39
Speaker 1: Gonna say in the building, this feeling of hope.
• 25:42
Speaker 5: You knew it was bad.
• 25:44
Speaker 1: You knew once you saw the cart.
• 25:47
Speaker 5: No, yeah, the cart just cemented it.
• 25:49
Speaker 3: But even the way he got off, did not take
• 25:53
Speaker 3: a step, was thinking about taking a step, and then
• 25:55
Speaker 3: just sat down and you saw his face, you saw
• 25:59
Speaker 3: his body motions. You knew it was very seriously what
• 26:03
Speaker 3: acl it could have been an act we couldn't see,
• 26:05
Speaker 3: you know from the stand.
• 26:06
Speaker 5: That's exactly which part of it's like it was. But
• 26:08
Speaker 5: you knew it was bad. You know it was if
• 26:10
Speaker 5: that season ending at least six eight weeks.
• 26:13
Speaker 1: Not to wallow in your sadness on this, but you've
• 26:15
Speaker 1: been a fans in sixty six offhand? Is this the
• 26:19
Speaker 1: biggest disappointment? Is this the biggest letdown? Is this team
• 26:22
Speaker 1: the one that you got most excited for? Is this
• 26:24
Speaker 1: injury something I'm thinking about it. I'm going to my head,
• 26:26
Speaker 1: Like they lost in the AFTC Championship game when they're
• 26:28
Speaker 1: beating the Broncos that year, and they lost in a
• 26:31
Speaker 1: couple of games, but like they were never supposed to
• 26:32
Speaker 1: be those teams. To not see Rogers complete a pass
• 26:35
Speaker 1: in the New York Jets uniform. After this whole summer
• 26:37
Speaker 1: of excitement, I can't imagine anything lower it gets.
• 26:40
Speaker 3: It gets to rank in the top five for Shore.
• 26:43
Speaker 3: I was there when Vinnie went down. I was with
• 26:45
Speaker 3: Vinnie last night before the game.
• 26:47
Speaker 5: By anyway, we're yeah, he looks great.
• 26:50
Speaker 3: He's living in Tampa, he's doing some work, he's happy.
• 26:54
Speaker 3: He was thrilled to be there last night. He embraced
• 26:56
Speaker 3: the whole Jet culture.
• 26:58
Speaker 1: You know, the crazy parallel that people are making. You
• 27:01
Speaker 1: know that ninety nine season was after the AFC Championship game,
• 27:04
Speaker 1: and it was the first game and an nny Vinnie
• 27:07
Speaker 1: rips his achilles, and that's the season they go. And
• 27:10
Speaker 1: it was eerily similar. And when Vinnie's in the building,
• 27:12
  Speaker 1: it's very.
• 27:13
Speaker 5: It was like, this is scripted, right, this is scripted.
• 27:16
Speaker 1: This is a reality in the worst way.
• 27:18
Speaker 5: The worst possible way. But you got enough. This team
• 27:23
Speaker 5: was built to win now, right. You can't think about
• 27:27
Speaker 5: let's let's just tank for Caleb Williams.
• 27:30
  Speaker 1: Right.
• 27:30
Speaker 5: I mean, you know, that's a pipe tree that ain't happening.
• 27:33
Speaker 3: So you have to go out and do something today
• 27:38
Speaker 3: that's very different. You have to have a brilliant GM
• 27:42
Speaker 3: that has the capacity to think through something that is
• 27:47
Speaker 3: not your typical move, not your predictable move, but something
• 27:52
Speaker 3: out of the box. I don't know what it is,
• 27:54
Speaker 3: obviously people are talking about.
• 27:56
Speaker 1: All right, let's let's skip to it. Then let me
• 27:57
Speaker 1: do okay, because the names that be mentioned on TV
• 27:59
Speaker 1: are all moderate, like Matt Ryan. You don't want Matt
• 28:02
Speaker 1: Ryan at the same you know Carton, sure, sure, yeah,
• 28:05
Speaker 1: you want to come Matt Ryan. Apparently Carson Wentz. No,
• 28:09
Speaker 1: Colt McCoy is not when he gets any Super Bowls.
• 28:11
Speaker 1: Here's the big one. You operate in New York circles.
• 28:16
Speaker 1: You know how these things go and these would you
• 28:21
Speaker 1: call up Tom Brady this morning and say, hey, do
• 28:23
Speaker 1: you got one more in you?
• 28:24
Speaker 5: And he would absolutely take the phone call.
• 28:27
Speaker 1: Would you think you would take the.
• 28:28
Speaker 3: Phone competitive animal? He's a competitive animal. He's gonna think
• 28:33
Speaker 3: through and way and analyze pros and cuts. He's already
• 28:38
Speaker 3: done it, like whether approach. I'm back in New York,
• 28:41
Speaker 3: I'm back on top. This is you know, a hero's
• 28:45
Speaker 3: ending to the greatest career ever. They have the talent.
• 28:50
Speaker 3: They may have to pick up an offensive linement, but
• 28:53
Speaker 3: they certainly have the talent, hackets and goods of suh
• 28:58
Speaker 3: or the DC. I forgot his name was John hoebrig.
• 29:02
Speaker 3: I mean they want to Jackson wanted Firemans first year.
• 29:05
Speaker 3: It's ridiculous. The guy is just, you know, one of
• 29:07
Speaker 3: the best that doesn't get the credit.
• 29:09
  Speaker 6: Uh.
• 29:10
Speaker 5: He's weighing that. It's not about buddy. He loves New York.
• 29:14
Speaker 5: He hates the Jets one than anything in the world.
• 29:16
Speaker 5: When I saw him last.
• 29:19
Speaker 1: No, no, you said, you think you think.
• 29:21
Speaker 3: Brady, Well, the last time I saw him with a
• 29:25
Speaker 3: couple of guys and one of them, you know, David's
• 29:27
Speaker 3: a big Jeff fan, and he it up. He was
• 29:30
Speaker 3: so excited to jump all over there. It's too bad.
• 29:34
Speaker 3: Remember this game. Remember that game. Remember Brandy Moss and
• 29:38
Speaker 3: the last player in the first stelf. I mean it's
• 29:40
Speaker 3: photographic memory every time he beat us, right, and it's
• 29:43
Speaker 3: a lot of them, a lot of highlight. So in
• 29:45
Speaker 3: a way to turn that hatred is it's very very
• 29:51
Speaker 3: uh literary and and you know, inspiring in a certain way,
• 29:57
Speaker 3: you know, in terms of taking a view on life
• 29:59
Speaker 3: that you know, maybe I do something out of the box, unpredictable.
• 30:03
Speaker 3: The part I don't know is physically you know, where's
• 30:06
Speaker 3: his and for forty one forty two he's probably in
• 30:09
Speaker 3: the best self of anybody in the world. But I
• 30:10
Speaker 3: see football ready and my guess is he's not at
• 30:13
Speaker 3: all Ash've been And you know he's got a good
• 30:18
Speaker 3: gig down in Vegas by the way, by somebody tickets.
• 30:23
Speaker 3: I got off for a quarter million dollars my six
• 30:25
Speaker 3: seats before the game. I probably could sell out for
• 30:28
Speaker 3: fifty bucks today the big financial turn in for a place, right,
• 30:37
Speaker 3: But I think I would make the call, he answers, Yes,
• 30:41
Speaker 3: I think ninety ten. He doesn't do it, but he'll
• 30:44
Speaker 3: consider it. He's a very smart, thoughtful guy.
• 30:47
  Speaker 6: You know.
• 30:48
Speaker 1: It's funny. He was at the Patriots game obviously, so
• 30:51
Speaker 1: from people who were there in New England, they were like,
• 30:54
Speaker 1: a he's got the glimmer in his eyes still, like
• 30:57
Speaker 1: he's still You could see he loved being in that arena.
• 31:00
Speaker 1: He's a solid fifteen to twenty pounds lighter than he
• 31:03
Speaker 1: was oh yeah last year.
• 31:04
Speaker 5: Yeah yeah, he looks that.
• 31:05
Speaker 1: He looks very And then the other side of this
• 31:08
Speaker 1: is he currently owns a piece of the Raiders, so
• 31:11
Speaker 1: that would have to be a lot of legality stuff
• 31:13
Speaker 1: with the league. But I'm sure the league, if Brady
• 31:14
Speaker 1: wanted to come back, they figure that out and we
• 31:16
  Speaker 1: could expedite that.
• 31:17
Speaker 5: I mean, Mark Davis would figure that out.
• 31:19
Speaker 3: But who else is Yeah, I'm thinking out for back.
• 31:23
Speaker 3: I don't go back to tradition. I say give me
• 31:26
Speaker 3: going back that has leg that's young, that I could
• 31:29
Speaker 3: throw in there. I won't make mistakes, but could make
• 31:31
Speaker 3: plays with his legs, that has the capacity with the
• 31:34
Speaker 3: braid to not just that break frim So Will.
• 31:38
Speaker 1: Is all right, So the you don't Malik's so young.
• 31:42
Speaker 1: That's like having Zach Wilson out there. They're not proven.
• 31:44
Speaker 1: You'd want like a Tyrod Taylor. Who the Giants have
• 31:47
Speaker 1: in that sense, you'd want he? Does you know Huntly?
• 31:51
Speaker 1: Maybe Huntley on the Ravens, the backup to Lamar He Like,
• 31:56
Speaker 1: are these guys that much better than Zach Wilson At
• 31:58
Speaker 1: this point? I don't know Andy Dalton. Do you want Dalton?
• 32:00
Speaker 1: He's down in Carolina mentoring Bryce Young.
• 32:02
Speaker 3: Okay, let me let me make a real simple anybody's
• 32:06
Speaker 3: better than anybody can put it there because he was
• 32:10
Speaker 3: the game for you.
• 32:11
Speaker 5: He cannot the greatest catch of the season. It was
• 32:16
Speaker 5: Garrett Wilson, right, Why was.
• 32:18
Speaker 1: That a terrible pass?
• 32:19
Speaker 5: The worst pass that was thrown to the wrong shoulder,
• 32:22
Speaker 5: That was a that was a pick hard.
• 32:26
Speaker 3: So everything you needed to see. He threw interceptions into
• 32:30
Speaker 3: triple covers. He threw it into the dirt. He's running back,
• 32:33
Speaker 3: which he's got got that high school mentality. I'm going
• 32:36
Speaker 3: to run around and run around and then I'm going
• 32:38
Speaker 3: to make a mistake trying to make something great happen.
• 32:41
  Speaker 5: That hasn't changed.
• 32:42
Speaker 3: He is who is he is not nf already processing
• 32:46
Speaker 3: ability to see the field, make quick decisions, and then actor.
• 32:51
Speaker 5: He's just you cannot go more than one or two
• 32:54
Speaker 5: games for him. That's it.
• 32:55
Speaker 1: One last one for you and not a player. It's
• 32:57
  Speaker 1: a because I just I don't know whether this is
• 32:59
Speaker 1: gonna where reaction is going to be what you want
• 33:01
Speaker 1: to say publicly, but I think if you represent Jets fans,
• 33:04
Speaker 1: you have a certain cringe factor to this. So Rogers
• 33:07
Speaker 1: is down, snaps his achilles. They're going sideline, sideline, and
• 33:12
Speaker 1: then they show the owner's box and wood. He has
• 33:14
Speaker 1: a giant diamond encrusted sauce gardener necklace still on while
• 33:19
Speaker 1: he's like taking calls about Rogers. You can't make it up, David.
• 33:22
Speaker 5: No, no, I mean I've talked to about you know,
• 33:25
Speaker 5: his view on on on the team.
• 33:28
Speaker 3: I mean he's all in killing the scene and getting
• 33:31
Speaker 3: the attention, getting the buzz, and himself being legitimized by
• 33:36
  Speaker 3: Aaron Rodgers.
• 33:36
Speaker 5: That's what that was about. I mean, I could go
• 33:39
Speaker 5: back to whether trade was made.
• 33:41
Speaker 3: They didn't have to swap the picks in the first round,
• 33:44
Speaker 3: the fifteenth for the sixteen, none of that. But Zach
• 33:47
Speaker 3: wilson game plan doesn't fly that the year will be
• 33:51
Speaker 3: out of the appalloon by the end of the first
• 33:53
  Speaker 3: step in Dallas.
• 33:54
Speaker 5: I'm gonna go to the Dallas game. I'm gonna super
• 33:56
  Speaker 5: Cherry Joe.
• 33:57
Speaker 1: You go, You're going to dallass I am.
• 34:00
Speaker 5: I'm ruining this team on It's.
• 34:03
  Speaker 1: A shot, no snap, it's a shot.
• 34:06
  Speaker 5: Big.
• 34:08
Speaker 1: You're gonna sit with Jerry and say what go Jacks.
• 34:12
Speaker 5: For the chats. It doesn't matter. I sait with Steve
• 34:15
Speaker 5: Ross in Miami and news for the chats. It's okay.
• 34:19
Speaker 3: So you know he respects it, he respects me. He's loyal,
• 34:24
Speaker 3: He's a loyal Maybe no, it's un loyal to the Jets.
• 34:26
Speaker 3: I will tell you by the end of the first half,
• 34:29
  Speaker 3: you'll see what exact that's.
• 34:32
Speaker 5: I mean, if you could.
• 34:33
Speaker 3: Train him to manage a game, to really manage a
• 34:37
Speaker 3: game with his brain and just make a couple of
• 34:40
Speaker 3: quick passes, but he is not capable of the Yeah,
• 34:45
Speaker 3: stack ten guys in the box and stop. You saw
• 34:48
Speaker 3: what a super talent he is. I mean, you love
• 34:51
  Speaker 3: cook super.
• 34:52
Speaker 5: Talent all in big part you Garrett. Garrett is maybe
• 34:57
Speaker 5: the premiree wide receive, the number one. He's a true
• 34:59
  Speaker 5: number one.
• 35:00
Speaker 1: He's a blizard made a couple of big players. They
• 35:03
Speaker 1: have all the skills.
• 35:04
Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, I'm not complaining about the wide receivers.
• 35:06
Speaker 3: Done about you know, Dwayne Brown hasn't had a staff
• 35:08
Speaker 3: in preseason and practice something and the biggest side of
• 35:13
Speaker 3: the history of Jets about an issue the Jets. That's
• 35:15
Speaker 3: your left tackle, that's your blind site, the left tackle
• 35:18
Speaker 3: blind side position in one of the top five positions
• 35:21
Speaker 3: in the NFL. You're going a thirty eight to thirty
• 35:23
Speaker 3: nine year old guy come roughly labroom surgery that hasn't
• 35:26
Speaker 3: had a staff. So the other thing you do is
• 35:28
Speaker 3: go down try to do a you know, a tick block,
• 35:31
Speaker 3: you know, and that's what happened. We went down, the
• 35:33
Speaker 3: guy went over him Camplain. Actually in a way they
• 35:37
Speaker 3: should have ran the first three, four, five place, you know,
• 35:40
Speaker 3: just get to go there to go.
• 35:42
Speaker 5: But I'm not going to play pack it, you.
• 35:43
Speaker 1: Know, last one, last one, because you and I are gonna.
• 35:47
Speaker 5: Last from this deva ends.
• 35:49
Speaker 1: This is for the rest of our last one, last
• 35:53
Speaker 1: last one. Do you regret doing Rogers over Car now
• 35:57
Speaker 1: that we look back on it all these months later.
• 35:59
Speaker 5: Absolutely no, absolutely no. No.
• 36:03
Speaker 3: Rogers did something matchical for this team, and it's got
• 36:06
Speaker 3: to go. It's gonna last for a while. How we
• 36:09
Speaker 3: take advantage of that, that's what's going to set us apart.
• 36:12
Speaker 1: Okay, thank you, be the best, David, appreciate you.
• 36:15
Speaker 2: So there you go.
• 36:16
Speaker 1: Eron two different diehard Jet fans giving two very similar perspective.
• 36:22
Speaker 1: David the latter one didn't seem as woe as me
• 36:24
Speaker 1: and was more angry about the offensive line play and
• 36:27
Speaker 1: what the general manager has done to prepare this team
• 36:29
Speaker 1: at quarterback, and Hank just sound like, you know, that's
• 36:33
Speaker 1: just doom and gloom. What got me is when Hank's
• 36:35
Speaker 1: area says that he carries over that Nicks Jets Mets
• 36:39
Speaker 1: fandom of always being the sad sack loser to like
• 36:42
Speaker 1: his Hollywood career, where the second you pitch a project
• 36:45
Speaker 1: and there's pushback, you just immediately shut things down. It
• 36:48
Speaker 1: does become an ethos after a while. And I said
• 36:51
Speaker 1: it on Good Morning Football. At some point, Jets fans
• 36:53
Speaker 1: look in the mirror and just say, why can't I
• 36:55
Speaker 1: have nice things? Why me? That?
• 36:58
Speaker 4: Like rung really true when you were saying, you know,
• 37:00
Speaker 4: you had multiple friends who texted you we just can't
• 37:03
Speaker 4: have nice things, which is the kind of mandra you
• 37:05
Speaker 4: have after years and years of feeling beaten down by
• 37:08
Speaker 4: something and then getting excited about it and then just
• 37:12
Speaker 4: the bottom falling out entirely. So that hurt to hear that,
• 37:15
Speaker 4: and it hurt to hear that you were getting that
• 37:17
  Speaker 4: from multiple people.
• 37:18
Speaker 1: Yeah, all right, so it's Tuesday morning. We're gonna get
• 37:20
Speaker 1: this up as quick as possible. So it's an instant reaction.
• 37:23
Speaker 1: But I threw out there to David about Brady. I
• 37:25
Speaker 1: don't know if that's realistic, but like, if you're looking
• 37:28
Speaker 1: for inside stuff, of course I was texting with all
• 37:30
Speaker 1: the Jets coaches. Of course, I was texting with executives
• 37:33
Speaker 1: in the front office. My thing to you is this morning,
• 37:37
Speaker 1: in the immediate reaction, devastation. They won the game. They
• 37:40
Speaker 1: love it. Devastation. I spoke to a coach who said,
• 37:43
Speaker 1: he hasn't slept and it's already ten am and they
• 37:46
Speaker 1: got home at midnight one am. Hasn't slept, can't sleep.
• 37:50
Speaker 1: Why excitement nerves, just gutted. Why gutted four Rogers, gutted
• 37:56
Speaker 1: four Rogers. How much Aaron has poured into this team
• 37:58
Speaker 1: this summer, and how much he gave the money back
• 38:00
Speaker 1: and he's all in and he gosh, it's everything. I
• 38:06
Speaker 1: feel so bad for so many people, the fans, the
• 38:10
Speaker 1: organization that threw their weight behind Rogers, for Aaron and
• 38:14
Speaker 1: his team, and for the NFL. It sucks. The Jets
• 38:18
Speaker 1: being a good team and the Jets being interesting was
• 38:20
Speaker 1: really fun, and maybe they are, but this does feel
• 38:23
Speaker 1: like a day of morning. Do I think they go
• 38:24
Speaker 1: and sign Matt Ryan.
• 38:26
  Speaker 4: No?
• 38:27
Speaker 1: Do I think they signed Carson Wentz.
• 38:29
  Speaker 5: No.
• 38:29
Speaker 1: I think Zach Wilson's the guy right now, and we
• 38:31
Speaker 1: can cross those bridges if it is clear and obvious
• 38:34
Speaker 1: that he isn't do they maybe have to sign someone
• 38:35
Speaker 1: else called Tim Boyles on the practice squad, probably elevate
• 38:38
Speaker 1: Tim Boyle. Other immediate things is that they have a
• 38:41
Speaker 1: game in six days, like they got to go play
• 38:43
Speaker 1: the Cowboys who just want forty to nothing and have
• 38:45
Speaker 1: the best defense in the league. So they have to
• 38:47
Speaker 1: start preparing. The NFL's cruel like that. You're going to
• 38:49
Speaker 1: turn the page. Originally, when we were planning this during
• 38:53
Speaker 1: the week yesterday, I had a different guest schedule. I
• 38:56
Speaker 1: had about ten points from week one on one to
• 38:58
Speaker 1: go through. They're all second there, They're all way in
• 39:02
Speaker 1: the back burner. Today was a Jets episode. If we
• 39:05
Speaker 1: were on WFN, spend ten hours doing it. Fortunately we
• 39:09
Speaker 1: were recording the podcast here. But I do want to
• 39:12
Speaker 1: give a story or two for my weekend? Is that okay?
• 39:15
  Speaker 3: Erin?
• 39:15
  Speaker 4: Oh yeah, no, I let's hear something. I don't know
• 39:17
Speaker 4: what the story is, but hopefully something uplifting and a
• 39:20
Speaker 4: little brighter than what the past.
• 39:23
Speaker 1: I'm gonna pat you some pictures. I'm gonna paint you
• 39:25
Speaker 1: some pictures. So I work for Fox Sports on the weekend.
• 39:30
Speaker 1: I'm blessed to do. It's it's one of the coolest
• 39:33
Speaker 1: gigs a guy can have in our world because I
• 39:36
Speaker 1: fly in and I'm with sports media and ex player
• 39:39
Speaker 1: luminaries for about two hours every Sunday. Then I fly back,
• 39:44
Speaker 1: but on week one, I fly in on a Friday
• 39:47
Speaker 1: every year because the Fox executives, led by Eric Shanks
• 39:51
Speaker 1: and Bill Richards and Jacob Ollman and Brad Zeiger, these
• 39:54
Speaker 1: guys put together a beautiful Friday night dinner for anyone
• 40:00
Speaker 1: who works on the Sunday pregame shows. And we have
• 40:03
Speaker 1: two of them. We got the Fox NFL Kickoff show
• 40:05
Speaker 1: that starts at eleven AM. I'm Eastern, and it features myself,
• 40:09
Speaker 1: Carissa Thompson, Charles Woodson, Michael Vick, and now our new
• 40:12
Speaker 1: edition Julian Edelman. And then Rob Gronkowski comes in and
• 40:16
Speaker 1: he's gonna be doing a bunch of appearances with us too.
• 40:18
Speaker 1: Now on the other show, it's almost like chair for chair.
• 40:21
Speaker 1: You got kurm Nafie, Michael Strahan, Jimmy Johnson, Howie Long,
• 40:25
Speaker 1: and Jay Glazer, who kind of does the insider stuff
• 40:29
Speaker 1: on that show. So I got all those people, got
• 40:31
Speaker 1: all the producers, you got all the executives, and they
• 40:33
Speaker 1: rent out some awesome LA restaurant. Last year we went
• 40:37
Speaker 1: to Spago, which is like the original La Cool restaurant,
• 40:40
Speaker 1: and I got to meet Wolfgang Paul, who came out
• 40:42
Speaker 1: of the kitchen probably to want to go meet Michael Strahan,
• 40:45
Speaker 1: but I just ran right in front and I just
• 40:46
Speaker 1: like intercepted him and to talk to him. So this
• 40:49
Speaker 1: is all very glamorous, free steak, free dinners treated like gold.
• 40:56
Speaker 1: Probably a car that picks me up, whether it be
• 40:58
Speaker 1: an uber or a car service, to drive me ten
• 41:00
Speaker 1: minutes to wherever we got to go. Like Fox treats
• 41:02
Speaker 1: talent really well. Fox cannot control the airline industry. So
• 41:09
Speaker 1: I finished my show Good Morning Football, and we had
• 41:12
Speaker 1: a great one. After the Lions upset the Chiefs at
• 41:15
Speaker 1: ten am, I immediately run to a car that's going
• 41:18
Speaker 1: to drive me to the airport where I had a
• 41:21
Speaker 1: noon flight on a certain airline that was going to
• 41:25
Speaker 1: fly and get me to LA at three pm Pacific time.
• 41:30
Speaker 1: Dinner's not till six. I'd have time to go check
• 41:33
Speaker 1: into a hotel. Typically I would, I would maybe you know,
• 41:37
Speaker 1: freshen up, maybe get a workout in probably not maybe
• 41:42
Speaker 1: instead of getting that workout, ordering room service and eating
• 41:45
Speaker 1: a meal before the meal. That's my typical routine. Well,
• 41:50
Speaker 1: I get to the airport and I go to that.
• 41:53
Speaker 1: Let's just say I don't want to give any tips
• 41:55
Speaker 1: away and complain about an airline a gathering space for
• 41:59
Speaker 1: those who travel often on the airline, and it is
• 42:02
Speaker 1: a pig sty. Everyone's fighting over like one cheese play
• 42:06
Speaker 1: in like a potential cup of humus. It's vile. I
• 42:09
Speaker 1: literally do the Simpsons meme that I referenced with Hank,
• 42:12
Speaker 1: where like I walk in, put my hat on the rack,
• 42:15
Speaker 1: get my hat, walk right out. It was disgusting. So
• 42:17
  Speaker 1: I sit at the gate. I haven't eaten. I've been
• 42:20
Speaker 1: up since four in the morning for Good Morning Football,
• 42:22
Speaker 1: and I'm like, I'll eat on the flight. We'll be okay.
• 42:26
Speaker 1: Flight's delayed one hour. I'm like, all right, no big deal.
• 42:28
Speaker 1: I've dealt with this before. Flight's delayed two hours. All right, okay,
• 42:33
Speaker 1: just hang in there. I'm texting. I'm getting my notes
• 42:35
Speaker 1: ready for Sunday's pregame show. Finally they bored us. I
• 42:39
Speaker 1: feel great, Feel great, Get seated. I got a nice
• 42:43
Speaker 1: little window seat. There's another seat next to me. It's
• 42:45
Speaker 1: open till the very last second, I'm like, okay, we're good.
• 42:49
Speaker 1: All of a sudden, they're like, all right, we're wrapping up.
• 42:50
Speaker 1: More like I have two seats to myself. A guy
• 42:53
  Speaker 1: comes walking on.
• 42:55
Speaker 5: I know the guy.
• 42:57
Speaker 1: This is my senior big brother from my fraternity in college.
• 43:03
Speaker 1: Comes walking down the aisle and sits right next to me.
• 43:06
Speaker 1: It just so happens that this guy is a gentleman
• 43:09
Speaker 1: named Michael Dubin. Do you know that name? Do either
• 43:11
Speaker 1: and of you guys know this name Michael Dubin? No,
• 43:13
Speaker 1: Michael Dubin was my favorite senior. When I was a
• 43:18
Speaker 1: freshman in college. I was in a fraternity. He was
• 43:22
Speaker 1: one of the seniors. Some of the seniors were huge assholes.
• 43:25
Speaker 1: Michael Dubin was amazing. Would take care of us. So
• 43:28
Speaker 1: be the guy that would say, hey, this isn't a
• 43:29
Speaker 1: great moment in your life.
• 43:30
  Speaker 3: I know that.
• 43:31
Speaker 1: Why don't you come to my room and have a
• 43:32
Speaker 1: soda and relax and chill out while the rest of
• 43:35
Speaker 1: your friends are not enjoying being up at three in
• 43:37
Speaker 1: the morning doing positive things. I'm sure, I mean, it's
• 43:40
Speaker 1: all we're doing philanthropy. That's what we did in the
• 43:42
Speaker 1: fraternity as a freshman. Yes, it's all about philanthropy, and
• 43:46
Speaker 1: we were probably putting together some sort of wonderful community
• 43:49
Speaker 1: service event or planting a tree for somebody. Duban walks
• 43:53
Speaker 1: on and now Dubin since we were in college, and
• 43:56
Speaker 1: you can google him and everything, and it's not like
• 43:58
Speaker 1: I've seen any of this. This you know from him
• 44:01
Speaker 1: in a personal level because we haven't talked much in
• 44:03
Speaker 1: the last twenty years. He was struggling in his twenties
• 44:07
Speaker 1: and like marketing and like trying to be an actor.
• 44:09
Speaker 1: At one point, and he'll tell it, Candon Lee was
• 44:11
Speaker 1: working in advertising, was having some success and came across
• 44:16
Speaker 1: an idea and had this concept in about two thousand
• 44:19
Speaker 1: and seven where he launched a YouTube video for a
• 44:23
Speaker 1: company called Dollar Shave Club. If you haven't heard a
• 44:27
Speaker 1: Dollar Shave Club, it was razors that were sent directly
• 44:31
Speaker 1: to your home. It was you skip the middleman, you
• 44:34
Speaker 1: go right to the consumer. And he was selling razors
• 44:38
Speaker 1: for one dollar and it was as legitimate as it sounds.
• 44:42
Speaker 1: But the story goes he inherited some incredible warehouse of
• 44:45
Speaker 1: razors and was a creative mastermind because he's a genius,
• 44:48
Speaker 1: put together a hilarious YouTube video which I don't know
• 44:51
Speaker 1: if you remember Hit the Tennis Racket, Walker through the Warehouse,
• 44:54
Speaker 1: Go google Dollar Shave Club YouTube video. Essentially, Michael Duban
• 44:58
Speaker 1: creates Dollar Shave Club. It's one of the most successful
• 45:02
Speaker 1: first entrepreneurial, grassroots disrupt the mainstream companies in business. That
• 45:09
Speaker 1: was in like two thousand and seven. In twenty seventeen,
• 45:12
Speaker 1: after they've already expanded from just razors to doing shampoo
• 45:15
Speaker 1: and doing conditioner into colognes I don't think he'd be
• 45:18
Speaker 1: upset with me saying this. Dubin sells the company to
• 45:21
Speaker 1: Unilever for a billion dollars, all right, so he's now
• 45:25
Speaker 1: a multi millionaire whatever, and then he goes on he's
• 45:27
Speaker 1: on boards of companies whatever. So imagine me. I'm sitting
• 45:30
Speaker 1: here and Duban walks out of all the people that
• 45:32
Speaker 1: you could sit with, he sits down. We immediately embrace.
• 45:36
Speaker 1: We're having a hilarious conversation. He's the fun one of
• 45:39
Speaker 1: the funniest guys ever. If you watch the YouTube stuff
• 45:41
Speaker 1: that he does, it's authentic. It's him. He's amazing. But
• 45:45
Speaker 1: sure enough, it's not like we're talking while the flight's
• 45:47
Speaker 1: going off. We're sitting on the runway, to late another hour,
• 45:50
Speaker 1: to late another hour. Now it's two hours. We've caught up.
• 45:52
Speaker 1: We're good. We're both doing our own thing on our
• 45:54
Speaker 1: phones like whatever. Pilot gets on now. Remember the flight
• 45:57
Speaker 1: was supposed to take off at twelve. It's four o'clock Eastern.
• 46:01
Speaker 1: Four hour delay. Gets on. Pilot says, folks, good news
• 46:06
Speaker 1: and bad news. The weather that was seemingly affecting this
• 46:10
Speaker 1: flight has passed and we're about eleventh in order to
• 46:15
Speaker 1: get out of here. But due to FAA regulations at
• 46:18
Speaker 1: nine hours, our entire crew has to clock out. We're
• 46:21
Speaker 1: at eight hours in forty eight minutes. You can't make
• 46:25
Speaker 1: this stuff up. So Dubin looks at me because he's
• 46:27
Speaker 1: hilarious and is like, I'm sure he's really gunning it
• 46:30
Speaker 1: to get us off the runway. The alternatives. He's a
• 46:33
Speaker 1: Friday off in New York and we're not sure enough.
• 46:37
Speaker 1: Fock fifty D plane a new Cruisy to come on.
• 46:40
Speaker 1: Don't worry though, this usually takes pretty easy. We get off.
• 46:44
Speaker 1: I'm dejected. I'm missing this dinner. I know that, but
• 46:47
Speaker 1: I know I also have to be in La first
• 46:49
Speaker 1: thing in the morning because we have a big production meeting.
• 46:51
  Speaker 1: Edelman's new we're doing a walk through, and like, I
• 46:54
Speaker 1: can't miss that. We get off. I see my Delta
• 46:57
Speaker 1: app it says boarding in about twenty minutes your flight.
• 47:01
Speaker 1: I look at Dubin. He says to me, well, they'd
• 47:03
Speaker 1: have to get all of the bags from that place,
• 47:07
Speaker 1: put them on a different plane. There's no way they're
• 47:09
Speaker 1: doing that in the next twenty minutes. There's no way.
• 47:12
Speaker 1: And I look around JFK Airport. It's mass hysteria, as
• 47:15
Speaker 1: it always is. But it's Friday week after labored and
• 47:19
Speaker 1: sure enough, the next update on our app, your flight
• 47:22
Speaker 1: is taking off at ten pm Eastern. Oh my god.
• 47:29
Speaker 1: So now it's like, what do you do? So now
• 47:31
Speaker 1: we're attached to me and him, We're like, are we
• 47:33
Speaker 1: have an adventure? He's a diehard tennis fan, says to me,
• 47:39
Speaker 1: should we just go to Medvedev or what's his name?
• 47:43
  Speaker 5: So?
• 47:44
Speaker 1: What's the alcarez? This is Friday night. I'm like, I can't.
• 47:47
  Speaker 1: I got a family, I've got bags, I've got like.
• 47:49
  Speaker 1: He's like, I've got bags, I've got I'm in the
• 47:52
Speaker 1: Like I gotta get back to LA. He's like, this
• 47:53
Speaker 1: flight's not taken off till ten Why don't we go?
• 47:58
Speaker 1: And this is why, Like you have like certain people
• 47:59
Speaker 1: who are doers and alphas, and then there's me who
• 48:02
Speaker 1: like waits for things to happen. This is an unbelievable
• 48:04
Speaker 1: story of like entrepreneurial spirit. He's like, why don't we
• 48:06
Speaker 1: just go? He doesn't have tickets. Why don't we go
• 48:08
Speaker 1: to this tennis match? Hang out there for a few hours.
• 48:11
Speaker 1: It's quicker than going all the way back to Brooklyn
• 48:13
Speaker 1: or Manhattan. We'll watch some tennis and we'll go back.
• 48:15
Speaker 1: I'm like, hey, you gonna get tickets. He's like, go on,
• 48:17
Speaker 1: stup publy. Look it's a few hundred bucks. He's like,
• 48:20
Speaker 1: I'll buy both our tickets. The two of us will go.
• 48:21
Speaker 1: Like we what do we do with our bags? He's like,
• 48:23
Speaker 1: we'll leave our bags. We'll figure it out. There's something
• 48:24
Speaker 1: we could do. Like we'll be fine. I'm like, you
• 48:26
Speaker 1: really into this? He goes, I'm really doing this. So
• 48:29
Speaker 1: I call an uber and I'm like, I'm going home.
• 48:32
Speaker 1: I have a chance to see my family. I'll come
• 48:34
Speaker 1: back to the airport. I'm not sitting in the airport
• 48:36
Speaker 1: for six hours. Aaron, this really happened have you seen
• 48:40
Speaker 1: the Paris Hotel on the side of the road on
• 48:42
Speaker 1: the Bqui ever on the way to Laguardier or airport.
• 48:44
  Speaker 1: I think it's called the Paris Hotel. It's like a
• 48:48
Speaker 1: stucco building and it's every all the romance and beauty
• 48:51
Speaker 1: of Paris. Imagine the opposite of that. It's off the
• 48:54
Speaker 1: Bqui and like, I'm not talking a story of queens
• 48:57
Speaker 1: like we're talking to like, get right off the Bqui
• 48:59
Speaker 1: And it's got a giant Eiffel tower that lights up
• 49:02
Speaker 1: fluorescent colors. It almost looks like sleazy in a way,
• 49:05
Speaker 1: like one of those like movies you'd see where you
• 49:08
Speaker 1: know on Savory thing's happen.
• 49:09
  Speaker 2: Yeah.
• 49:10
Speaker 1: Michael Dubin looks at me and says, all right, am
• 49:12
Speaker 1: I buying your ticket? I'm like, no, I'm going home.
• 49:14
Speaker 1: I've got I'm gonna have a meal and come back
• 49:16
Speaker 1: to the airport. He goes, I'm going to the US Open.
• 49:19
Speaker 1: I am telling you I watched this man buy a
• 49:22
Speaker 1: ticket on his phone with no hookup. No, he's not
• 49:25
Speaker 1: asking for anything. Get dropped off on the side of
• 49:28
Speaker 1: the road at the BQI. Walk by the Paris Hotel.
• 49:32
Speaker 1: I got dropped off at the Paris Hotel, walk to
• 49:35
Speaker 1: Flushing Meadows, which was probably a mile in the pouring rain,
• 49:39
Speaker 1: and I get back in the car within twenty minutes.
• 49:41
Speaker 1: I get a selfie from him and he's smiling in
• 49:43
Speaker 1: front of the match, in front of Medvedev and al Choriz.
• 49:49
Speaker 1: He watches the entire match, and midway through the second set,
• 49:53
Speaker 1: I'm still on the BQI because it's an hour and
• 49:56
  Speaker 1: a half. It's you know, Friday traffic. I'm miserable. I'm
• 49:58
Speaker 1: missing this dinner. I'm bombed. I get it updated from
• 50:02
Speaker 1: my airline. Flight's been canceled, so we go home. I
• 50:06
Speaker 1: get on the first flight out. Sure enough, he goes
• 50:09
Speaker 1: to the match. It's an incredible match. He's sending me photos.
• 50:12
Speaker 1: Obviously Durant's there and show these, Darron's there, and Tom
• 50:16
Speaker 1: Brady's there, and there he is in the mix, and
• 50:18
Speaker 1: I'm like, this is unbelievable. Saturday morning, I got on
• 50:20
Speaker 1: the first flight out, I get out to LA and
• 50:22
Speaker 1: it's just go, go, go. Hanging out with Gronk, hanging
• 50:25
Speaker 1: out with Edelman, Charles Woodson's amazing, Chris was great. We
• 50:29
Speaker 1: have an amazing Saturday morning meeting. I do my usual
• 50:32
Speaker 1: week one routine, five pm, table for one, dinner for one,
• 50:37
Speaker 1: just me eat, want to stay on East Coast time,
• 50:41
Speaker 1: get in bed around six or seven. I sleep like
• 50:43
Speaker 1: a baby. Have an awesome Sunday show. I'm not sure
• 50:46
Speaker 1: if you watch Fox NFL kickoff, we kicked ass. We
• 50:49
Speaker 1: had a great show. Edelman was fantastic. And I've got
• 50:52
Speaker 1: like a ten thirty flight, ten thirty Pacific. Get to
• 50:56
Speaker 1: the airport, brother, you wouldn't believe it. Get to the airport,
• 51:02
Speaker 1: going through security, get the alert. Flight is delayed till
• 51:07
Speaker 1: six pm Pacific, nine pm Eastern. Went back to Fox,
• 51:14
Speaker 1: Go back sitting in the green room watching games. Let's
• 51:18
Speaker 1: just say I did eventually get home. But if the
• 51:22
Speaker 1: travel woes of week one, or any example of what's
• 51:26
Speaker 1: to come, it could be a long season for your boy.
• 51:30
Speaker 1: P shrikes Aaron your thoughts on that entire story.
• 51:33
Speaker 4: So I have had a lot of horrible travel experiences.
• 51:38
Speaker 4: I've had bags getting lost on international flights and showing
• 51:41
Speaker 4: up in Australia with no luggage. I've had flights where
• 51:45
Speaker 4: we land and we have a layover and the connection
• 51:49
Speaker 4: does we miss the connection to them, We're stuck in
• 51:50
Speaker 4: a city overnight where we're like, it's not our city,
• 51:54
Speaker 4: it's not people we know kind of thing. And when
• 51:57
Speaker 4: I hear you talk about travel kind of makes me
• 52:00
Speaker 4: feel like I'm a little luckier than I think every
• 52:02
Speaker 4: single time, maybe just because you travel so much.
• 52:04
Speaker 1: But I have to give this side of Now, there
• 52:07
Speaker 1: are ninety nine percent of people who say, you have
• 52:08
Speaker 1: the best job in the world and you're flying on
• 52:11
Speaker 1: someone else's time. Shut up. I don't tweet about it.
• 52:13
Speaker 1: I don't out the airlines. If we're doing the season,
• 52:16
Speaker 1: I'm telling the season, the stories, this is what happens.
• 52:19
  Speaker 5: Did you consider?
• 52:21
Speaker 4: So there have been a few times I've been to
• 52:23
Speaker 4: JFK or Lagordia where it keeps getting later and later.
• 52:27
Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm just forget it.
• 52:29
Speaker 4: I want to fly out tomorrow morning. I want to
• 52:30
Speaker 4: go home and sleep in my bed. I don't want
• 52:32
Speaker 4: to sit in the airport for four hours. It turns
• 52:35
Speaker 4: into five, it turns into six. Like did you when
• 52:38
Speaker 4: it I guess when you got off the plane.
• 52:41
Speaker 1: Yeah, it was done. Now it's done, it's done. Yeah,
• 52:45
Speaker 1: it's over. And I hear the Friday night dinner was great.
• 52:47
Speaker 1: Here Edelman and Straighthand and Gronk and all these guys. Yeah,
• 52:50
Speaker 1: it's great, real quick on that. So I'm in the
• 52:55
Speaker 1: airport all day Sunday and then I go back to
• 52:56
Speaker 1: Fox and I'm back at the air The YouTube Sunday
• 53:01
Speaker 1: ticket freaking awesome. It was great, it worked. I bought
• 53:05
Speaker 1: it and it was great. So the the saving grace
• 53:07
Speaker 1: is that, like there was football to watch, I was
• 53:10
Speaker 1: able to do my work. I got home on Sunday
• 53:15
Speaker 1: around like two am, three am. I was on Good
• 53:18
Speaker 1: Morning Football by seven am. I still haven't slept as
• 53:22
Speaker 1: we do because I had to stay up and watch Rogers.
• 53:24
Speaker 1: So I'm running on fumes. I know, I just did
• 53:25
Speaker 1: twenty minutes on travel, but you know, I listened to
• 53:28
Speaker 1: Ryan Roussillo and he'll do a podcast and have a
• 53:31
Speaker 1: great guest for forty minutes. Sometimes I skip to life
• 53:33
Speaker 1: advice at the end. I listened to Simmons and cousin
• 53:36
Speaker 1: sal They have got great talk about the line. Sometimes
• 53:38
Speaker 1: I skip right to parent corner. Like, guys, if you're
• 53:42
Speaker 1: not into the travel woes or my travel stories, I
• 53:45
Speaker 1: get it. But there are some people who love this stuff.
• 53:48
  Speaker 2: Yeah.
• 53:48
Speaker 1: Figure as for Michael Dubin, go Google him, and if
• 53:53
Speaker 1: you ever want to support Dollar Shave Club, he doesn't
• 53:56
Speaker 1: open it anymore. So go do it or don't do it.
• 53:58
Speaker 1: I don't care. But one of the great stories. Google
• 54:00
Speaker 1: him on YouTube, enjoy the comedic. Should we get him
• 54:03
Speaker 1: on next week, I think he'll have some good stories.
• 54:05
Speaker 4: I mean, we can't have our favorite topics, travel, tennis.
• 54:11
Speaker 4: Does he like Broadway?
• 54:13
  Speaker 5: Yeah?
• 54:13
Speaker 4: Okay, great, Yeah that's all and football too, I guess.
• 54:16
Speaker 1: But there's a whole sect of people that I'm friendly
• 54:19
Speaker 1: with that are like, you know, Dube I haven't seen
• 54:20
Speaker 1: in twenty years, but we know each other well, but
• 54:24
Speaker 1: like a Gary V type where it's like entrepreneur. Then
• 54:27
Speaker 1: we've got chefs that I've become friends with, restaurant tours.
• 54:30
Speaker 1: I feel like we could open it up this season,
• 54:32
Speaker 1: and so one day we'll have like here's John Coon,
• 54:35
Speaker 1: who used to play fullback for the Packers, talking about
• 54:37
Speaker 1: interior offensive line play, and then the next week it's like,
• 54:41
Speaker 1: here's a Sioux chef for Gordon Ramsey, who's going to
• 54:43
Speaker 1: tell you what it's really like on the Bear. Yeah, yeah,
• 54:46
  Speaker 1: that's yeah.
• 54:46
Speaker 4: We need someone who will talk about the Bears, and.
• 54:49
Speaker 1: Then someone who will talk about the bear.
• 54:51
Speaker 4: Yeah, we can figure this out.
• 54:53
Speaker 1: On that note, we're done. Amazing podcast, Jets fans. I'm
• 54:57
Speaker 1: sorry it's not going to be what it was, but
• 54:59
Speaker 1: you know what, this is life. There could be worse
• 55:01
Speaker 1: things going on. I'm Peter Scherger. That's Aaron wan Kaufman.
• 55:05
Speaker 1: Jason English is in the cap. See, you guys are awesome.
• 55:07
Speaker 1: We text all the time now. We've become great friends
• 55:10
Speaker 1: and I love sharing the season as it goes.
• 55:13
  Speaker 2: In LA.
• 55:14
Speaker 1: You've got Matt Schneider and Jason Kleinman and all those
• 55:16
Speaker 1: Arizona guys who who are sad to see them lose
• 55:19
Speaker 1: to Mississippi State in overtime. Jed Fish couldn't get it done.
• 55:22
Speaker 1: We've got Meredith Batten and Dave Juranka and the NFL
• 55:25
Speaker 1: network side, and of course the iHeartRadio people. We're having
• 55:28
Speaker 1: a blast with this hopefully better tone to start this
• 55:32
Speaker 1: podcast next week. But you know what, that's the season.
• 55:34
Speaker 1: It's not all gonna be roses and rainbows.
• 55:36
  Speaker 5: Baby.
• 55:37
Speaker 1: On that note, we'll see you next week. The Season
• 55:56
Speaker 1: with Peter Schrager is a production of the NFL and
• 55:59
Speaker 1: partnership with iHeartRadio. For more podcasts from iHeartRadio. Visit the
• 56:03
