- 1:36Speaker 1: And it's the term that we created. There have been
- 1:40Speaker 1: other folks that have you know, created their own term,
- 1:42Speaker 1: like La Loba Looka refers to Abolita knowledge and that's
- 1:47Speaker 1: her the way she talks about fem tech. Kim Alan
- 1:49Speaker 1: has talked about I think fem science. So there have
- 1:52Speaker 1: been different women and fem's talking about these concept yeah,
- 1:56Speaker 1: from different lenses. Yeah. And this is our our offering,
- 1:59Speaker 1: our local perspective of fem tech. And we have two

- 3:36Speaker 1: go chos recently too. So use the cold localmotives to
- 3:39Speaker 1: get off of your order. And it's what I just
- 3:42Speaker 1: want to say that we went from you know, not
- 3:46Speaker 1: having any codes and product placement at all and now
- 3:50Speaker 1: we have multiple and I love it because it's all
- 3:52Speaker 1: Latina women of color like small businesses well, and it's
- 3:55Speaker 1: also super on brand because one they're like sex toys,
- 3:59Speaker 1: yep and hygiene care and then the other is makeup everything.
- 4:06Speaker 1: We love? What else? Think? Yeah? Like really, wow? What
- 4:10Speaker 1: else do we need in life? More money? More money? Oh,
- 4:14Speaker 1: if there is an I p A brand out there,

- 4:20Speaker 1: A s we really do. We drink it like it's
- 4:21Speaker 1: water to our own the minds we shouldn't. We should
- 4:24Speaker 1: We do it like it's a light beer, you know.
- 4:26Speaker 1: I want to say that. I have been like talking
- 4:27Speaker 1: about the hashtag fems who drink I p A. And
- 4:31Speaker 1: last night I ordered a drink and the guy was like, oh,
- 4:34Speaker 1: what are you going to order there? This one that's
- 4:36Speaker 1: really light, and I was like, Nope, I'll take the
- 4:38Speaker 1: I p A. Yes, me, underestimated me with the I
- 4:41Speaker 1: p A. I think I can handle it. I act
- 4:44Speaker 1: like I can handle it. I can. I can handle it.
- 4:46Speaker 1: Maybe not the next day, but in the moment, I'm good.
- 4:49Speaker 1: Like maybe I'll have a little hangover, but it's worth it.
- 4:51Speaker 1: It's part of the process. It's part of the experience.
- 4:54Speaker 1: Um also for our look on motives for our listeners
- 4:58Speaker 1: out there. As you know, we still our d I
- 5:01Speaker 1: y UM. We're self, we're startup. You know, we're indie

- 7:02Speaker 1: goal of that three part series is to take your

- 7:07Speaker 1: you can share with the world. So that's May nine,
- 7:10Speaker 1: and then coming up the also is going to be
- 7:12Speaker 1: participating in a really exciting event called Love Thyself Festival.
- 7:17Speaker 1: Oh yes, yeah, So Love Myself Festival is put on
- 7:21Speaker 1: by hippieca Arianna. She designed our logo for look at
- 7:25Speaker 1: That our radio, and she's curating this like amazing mini
- 7:30Speaker 1: festival all about elamor Propio, all about self love. I
- 7:34Speaker 1: will be doing a workshop on a guide to Goddess Worship,
- 7:39Speaker 1: which is something that Mala and I, um we have
- 7:41Speaker 1: a la on that and we presented that at University
- 7:44Speaker 1: of Oregon about over a year ago. So I'm going
- 7:47Speaker 1: to be facilitating that at this festival. In addition, Yesica
- 7:51Speaker 1: will be there, uh the amazing the Hood which is
- 7:54Speaker 1: also going to be there, and the Hood which I'm
- 7:57Speaker 1: sure that our listeners follow her. You know, Brie. She's
- 8:01Speaker 1: actually based in Seattle, so it's not very often that
- 8:04Speaker 1: she is out in l A. So the fact that
- 8:06Speaker 1: Adrian booked her like he's incredible and like yeah, So
- 8:10Speaker 1: it's just gonna be a full day of like selfie taking,
- 8:14Speaker 1: opportunities of photo booth performances, workshop workshops. Hood Profit is
- 8:20Speaker 1: going to be there, Tonna is gonna be there. Mad
- 8:23Speaker 1: Love to Hood Profit, Mad Love to So Much Love
- 8:26Speaker 1: for Hood Profit. Anthonna Antonna and there's gonna be vendors,
- 8:29Speaker 1: there's gonna be food. It's gonna be amazing. So you
- 8:32Speaker 1: can get your tickets on event Bright. It's Love Thyself
- 8:36Speaker 1: Dot event Right. I'm sad I'm not going to be there.
- 8:39Speaker 1: I'm gonna be out of town. Yeah, that's the only
- 8:41Speaker 1: reason mal I will not be there. She has an
- 8:43Speaker 1: important date. It's it's it's a it's a reunion. Like
- 8:48Speaker 1: it's a reunion. I'm going to for for school. So
- 8:51Speaker 1: I'm excited to see my home girls who live out
- 8:54Speaker 1: on the East Coast that I haven't seen in a while.
- 8:56Speaker 1: You will be engaging in God's worship in your own way.
- 8:59Speaker 1: This is this is true, So I'll be I'll be
- 9:02Speaker 1: participating in spiritual yes. Yes. Another exciting thing that is
- 9:06Speaker 1: participating in. Yeah. So We All Grow is a big
- 9:11Speaker 1: conference that happens out here that's put on by hashtog
- 9:14Speaker 1: We All Grow, and it's going to be at the
- 9:17Speaker 1: Hotel Maya and Long Beach and I'm going to be
- 9:19Speaker 1: on a panel curated by Mario La Rosario, who is
- 9:22Speaker 1: the editor in chief at Hip Latina. So I'm really
- 9:25Speaker 1: excited because Raguel, our homegirl, is going to be on
- 9:28Speaker 1: the panels. She's going to be Intel, She's back, She's
- 9:32Speaker 1: going to be back on the West Coast. Yes, um
- 9:35Speaker 1: even actually she's a journalist. She also writes for Hip
- 9:38Speaker 1: Latina and Camari Chelsea will also be on the panel.
- 9:41Speaker 1: So it's going to be really amazing. And the name
- 9:43Speaker 1: of the panel is let's get political how socially conscious
- 9:46Speaker 1: content can build a brand. So I'm really excited to
- 9:49Speaker 1: be on the panel. And I'm like really thankful that
- 9:51Speaker 1: to Maria lad that reached out and you know, wanted
- 9:54Speaker 1: to include me. So that's really cool because I'm like
- 9:56Speaker 1: a baby journalist, Like I have like my little articles
- 9:59Speaker 1: that I've done. I think I've done maybe five or
- 10:00Speaker 1: six total. So have you talked about your articles on
- 10:03Speaker 1: the podcast, but I don't think you have. You've shared
- 10:05Speaker 1: on Instagram. I've shared on Instagram. I have like, um,
- 10:08Speaker 1: I think maybe three articles with Hip Latina one one
- 10:13Speaker 1: or on UM Fierce by me. So you can actually
- 10:16Speaker 1: head over to our website if you drop down and
- 10:19Speaker 1: go to theosa my profile, you can find all my
- 10:22Speaker 1: articles there if you want to read them. Some really
- 10:24Speaker 1: good stuff. I really like the one about UM you
- 10:27Speaker 1: did research into the products that are in feminine hygiene
- 10:30Speaker 1: products into the ingredients, the chemicals. I should say yes,
- 10:33Speaker 1: the chemicals because girls, ladies look at motive. If you
- 10:37Speaker 1: have a volva, you know, however, you identify a vagina
- 10:42Speaker 1: um and the tampons that you're using like have actual
- 10:46Speaker 1: chemicals in them. They have chlorine. And I kept getting
- 10:49Speaker 1: I wrote about this in an article. I kept getting
- 10:51Speaker 1: a U T I like painful ones and my doctors
- 10:54Speaker 1: were like, fucking just wipe, Like how are you wiping?
- 10:57Speaker 1: Literally that's what they would ask me, like are you peeing?
- 10:59Speaker 1: After said are you cleaning up? And actually ended up
- 11:01Speaker 1: being the tampons that I was using their poisonous. Yeah,
- 11:04Speaker 1: it was horrible. I mean, toxic shock syndrome is a thing,
- 11:07Speaker 1: and like you know the fact that that product can
- 11:10Speaker 1: give that to you alone. It is like I recently
- 11:13Speaker 1: switched over and started using a Diva cup. I started
- 11:16Speaker 1: using a Diva cup and I'm I'm into it. I'm obsessed.
- 11:19Speaker 1: It's my new thing. I'm not ready for the Diva
- 11:20Speaker 1: cup I tried for. I tried it a while years ago. Um,
- 11:24Speaker 1: maybe maybe now now that I'm having sex with a man,
- 11:27Speaker 1: maybe I can do at the time I couldn't sure
- 11:31Speaker 1: it's too much, but anyway, anyway, that's second. So tickets
- 11:37Speaker 1: are actually sold out for that event, but I have
- 11:39Speaker 1: heard that there will be a digital past for sale.
- 11:43Speaker 1: So they are going to be streaming all of the workshops.
- 11:46Speaker 1: Very cool, so I will post about it. Yeah, so
- 11:49Speaker 1: I can't be there, you can stream. We are also
- 11:53Speaker 1: going to be traveling again. I'm really excited for this
- 11:56Speaker 1: one another university. We're going to be at Northwestern Northwestern
- 12:01Speaker 1: University UM in Illinois in Chicago or Chicago and Jason
- 12:05Speaker 1: outside of Chicago, but it's like thirty minutes from So
- 12:09Speaker 1: that's so thank you to the students at Northwestern who
- 12:13Speaker 1: have and it's been a while trying to plan this
- 12:17Speaker 1: trip out, you know, it's this Yeah, it's been in
- 12:19Speaker 1: the making for more than a couple of months and
- 12:22Speaker 1: the students are so amazing because they actually fundraised to
- 12:25Speaker 1: bring us out. I'm not sure if they got any
- 12:27Speaker 1: like university grants, any like student funds like located, but
- 12:31Speaker 1: I know for sure that they fundraise. Yeah, So we
- 12:33Speaker 1: appreciate all the students who ever reach out to us
- 12:37Speaker 1: and find funding or fundraise and book our flights and
- 12:40Speaker 1: get us out to your universities. It's really amazing. And
- 12:43Speaker 1: those gigs like are always really incredible for us, like
- 12:46Speaker 1: meeting students and our listeners and you all are very inspiring.
- 12:49Speaker 1: So it's just honestly a privilege to be there with
- 12:52Speaker 1: you and to meet you. Yeah, it really is, like
- 12:54Speaker 1: we really do not take it for granted that book us,
- 12:57Speaker 1: that y'all want to that y'all come out for us,
- 12:59Speaker 1: so y'all want to meet us, so you want to
- 13:00Speaker 1: take pictures with us, Like we like really soaked that
- 13:03Speaker 1: all up, We really do. We always leave inspired and motivated.
- 13:08Speaker 1: So that's Mala has some really exciting news to share
- 13:13Speaker 1: with us. Oh my god, I am living my best
- 13:16Speaker 1: white women life right now, bitch. So the Wing here's
- 13:20Speaker 1: the thing. The Wing is. Um. I feel like one
- 13:23Speaker 1: day we had never heard of it. We lived our
- 13:26Speaker 1: whole we had never heard of this place. Is very true,
- 13:28Speaker 1: and then the next day all the women in our
- 13:31Speaker 1: circle are involved with the Wing. Yeah it's wild. So
- 13:34Speaker 1: for those of you who have never heard of the Wing,
- 13:35Speaker 1: because I mean it's still new for us, you know
- 13:37Speaker 1: what I mean. Also just opened in l A. So
- 13:39Speaker 1: it's like literally new for us. I know, that there
- 13:41Speaker 1: have been. There's other locations that have been opened for
- 13:43Speaker 1: a while New York, in Chicago. I see Joanna from
- 13:47Speaker 1: the Unapology, we see you with the Wing and Amy. Yeah,
- 13:52Speaker 1: they're always out there taking up space. Yes, well that
- 13:55Speaker 1: has been. That was like one of my introductions to
- 13:57Speaker 1: the Wing on the East coast side. And now they're
- 13:59Speaker 1: in l A. So the West Hollywood location just opened
- 14:02Speaker 1: up two weeks ago. So, UM, you know, it's like
- 14:05Speaker 1: a women it's a women's club. It's a women's club
- 14:08Speaker 1: and coworking space. It's kind of like a grown up sorority.
- 14:12Speaker 1: UM but better, I'm gonna just say that. So the
- 14:15Speaker 1: Wing just opened up here in West Hollywood, and you know,
- 14:17Speaker 1: it's like a membership based UM club and a lot
- 14:22Speaker 1: of women will use the space to work and hold meetings.
- 14:26Speaker 1: UM and uh. They had a scholarship program that they
- 14:29Speaker 1: were offering because it's kind of expensive to like be
- 14:32Speaker 1: a member and to pay the monthly fees to be
- 14:34Speaker 1: quite honest, But they had a scholarship program that they
- 14:37Speaker 1: put out and I um received one of their scholarships.
- 14:40Speaker 1: So they accepted me. They gave me a scholarship, So
- 14:42Speaker 1: I am now a member at the Wing. Um, living
- 14:45Speaker 1: my best white woman fantasy and it's really fun. Yesicas
- 14:48Speaker 1: there chilling our girls. Zeila a word agency because like
- 14:54Speaker 1: mol and I are a package. So like wherever she goes,
- 14:58Speaker 1: I go and vice versa. So I'm just hello, I
- 15:00Speaker 1: am also a member of the Wing. We're at the Wing.
- 15:02Speaker 1: Like I'm also there. We're at the Wing and like
- 15:04Speaker 1: they do workshops and I'm like R S V P
- 15:07Speaker 1: Mala plus one. I'm the plus one. I love it
- 15:11Speaker 1: is my forever plus one. So yeah, that's cute. That's
- 15:13Speaker 1: cute stuff. So thank you. I'm really happy for you.
- 15:17Speaker 1: It's a lot of fun. So thank you at the
- 15:19Speaker 1: Wing for having me, for accepting me into your club. Um.
- 15:23Speaker 1: That being said, we have a little a segment that
- 15:27Speaker 1: we want to bring back that we don't do all
- 15:28Speaker 1: the time. It just kind of depends on experience and
- 15:31Speaker 1: if we have a story. So this is weird things
- 15:33Speaker 1: White women did this week? So what weird thing did
- 15:36Speaker 1: white women do this week? Okay, well, at first I
- 15:38Speaker 1: want to preface with preface it with, Um, we had
- 15:42Speaker 1: two listeners come to our library workshop that we just
- 15:45Speaker 1: had at Exposition Park Library in South l A. This
- 15:48Speaker 1: past week, which was very fun. Workshop was so great.
- 15:51Speaker 1: The library is beautiful and we had two listeners come,
- 15:54Speaker 1: multiple listeners, but these two in particular are white women. Yes,
- 15:58Speaker 1: and they were like you can tell that they're listeners
- 16:01Speaker 1: when they came because they wanted to learn about how
- 16:04Speaker 1: we did started our podcast because they also want to
- 16:06Speaker 1: start our podcast. So then we started to think like, yeah, yeah,
- 16:10Speaker 1: so we're being and you know, we're being a little
- 16:12Speaker 1: bit facetious. This this pat this segment is is funny,
- 16:15Speaker 1: you know what I mean? So like love to our
- 16:17Speaker 1: white listeners do view her out there? And if y'all
- 16:20Speaker 1: are like you're learning, you're learning. So if you're listening,
- 16:23Speaker 1: you know we say all this it's all with love,
- 16:26Speaker 1: but you know, you know, it's like, you know, you're
- 16:28Speaker 1: making it when white women start showing up to your
- 16:30Speaker 1: ship and with white women are tuning in and acknowledging
- 16:33Speaker 1: what they're doing. Not that we need and seek that approval,
- 16:36Speaker 1: because we absolutely do not, but it's just like, oh, well,
- 16:39Speaker 1: I guess maybe we're about to go somewhere we are
- 16:42Speaker 1: doing some share, doing something where I'm thinking. Honestly, I
- 16:46Speaker 1: had that thought when I heard a white girl once
- 16:50Speaker 1: singing out loud Google's song Honda c RV. And I
- 16:55Speaker 1: was like, oh my god, Google is going to be
- 16:57Speaker 1: a superstar. A white girl is singing his song. Valid,
- 17:00Speaker 1: he's gonna be He's going to be a mega superstar.
- 17:03Speaker 1: And he is and now and and he is, and
- 17:05Speaker 1: so I think we're on the same path. So thank
- 17:08Speaker 1: you white women for acknowledging that we women. Yes, we
- 17:11Speaker 1: love some allies. We love some allies, And I think,
- 17:15Speaker 1: like the listening to podcast is obviously not the only
- 17:18Speaker 1: way to be an ally, but I think it's such
- 17:20Speaker 1: a great way to learn from experiences that are not
- 17:23Speaker 1: yours because you don't the people talking are not doing
- 17:27Speaker 1: additional labor to teach. You put the content out there,
- 17:31Speaker 1: and it's your responsibility to follow it, to listen to it,
- 17:34Speaker 1: and then follow up in terms of like I'm going
- 17:36Speaker 1: to look more into this. Oh I heard this, okay,
- 17:38Speaker 1: so now I'm going to research that absolutely now, as
- 17:41Speaker 1: opposed to like DM me them and being like, hey, um,
- 17:45Speaker 1: you know what's reversed racism exactly? People are being racist
- 17:50Speaker 1: to me but I'm white, you know what I mean.
- 17:51Speaker 1: Don't don't send don't you know, Like that's like I
- 17:54Speaker 1: feel like that's a good way to learn from people
- 17:57Speaker 1: without expecting additional labor. Yeah, listening is very important in
- 18:01Speaker 1: the learning process, you know, actively listening. Um, And I was,
- 18:05Speaker 1: you know, it's also like from pen to post kind
- 18:10Speaker 1: of a thing. This is a woman of color Latin
- 18:13Speaker 1: X production and project. And I think a lot of
- 18:16Speaker 1: white women may be the only time that white women
- 18:19Speaker 1: depending on your community and where you grew up and
- 18:21Speaker 1: where you live and where you work blah blah blah
- 18:22Speaker 1: blah blah, I think a lot of white women maybe
- 18:24Speaker 1: are only getting uh stories from people of color, Like
- 18:28Speaker 1: if it's like a diversity training or an inclusion training,
- 18:31Speaker 1: or you have a speaker, or you watch a documentary
- 18:34Speaker 1: like it's it's it's kind of isolated and it's sporadic
- 18:39Speaker 1: and there's not it's not as holistic with this. This
- 18:42Speaker 1: is like our whole lives. This is this is not
- 18:46Speaker 1: it's just a different approach to learning us and learning
- 18:48Speaker 1: about us. So yes, thank you, thank you white women.
- 18:53Speaker 1: So on onto onto other things. Okay, so um, a
- 18:57Speaker 1: quick word from our sponsors before we enter our our
- 19:00Speaker 1: songbreak and introduce our amazing guests. So, our sponsor is
- 19:04Speaker 1: a Therapy for latin X, and we are taking this

- 19:25Speaker 1: out the Therapy for latin X online database. We're all
- 19:29Speaker 1: about the mental health glow up, and that means taking
- 19:32Speaker 1: the proper and necessary steps right to allow for that
- 19:36Speaker 1: glow up to happen. Go see somebody, find a therapist. Absolutely.
- 19:40Speaker 1: You know, so often we you know, talk to our friends,
- 19:43Speaker 1: our families about our problems, and you know that gets
- 19:46Speaker 1: to a certain point where it's like, okay, you vented,
- 19:49Speaker 1: you sought out some some advice from your home girls.
- 19:52Speaker 1: Now it's time to take the next step, which could
- 19:54Speaker 1: be therapy, and that could be in whatever way that means,
- 19:57Speaker 1: like talk based therapy is not the only step of therapy.
- 20:00Speaker 1: So highly recommend checking out Therapy for latin X. Shout
- 20:03Speaker 1: out to myself because I had my two year anniversary
- 20:05Speaker 1: with my therapist recently. That's huge. I know, I'm really
- 20:08Speaker 1: proud of my that's major. Um I still need to
- 20:11Speaker 1: go to therapy. But you know it's a process, and
- 20:14Speaker 1: you have the database ready for you. I have the
- 20:16Speaker 1: data ready, so you see that we're available. We're a
- 20:19Speaker 1: good example right here, right like actually taking the steps
- 20:22Speaker 1: and going to therapy be a long time to get here. Sure, absolutely,
- 20:25Speaker 1: it's a process. Um So yeah, So that's therapy for
- 20:28Speaker 1: latin X. Check them out. Alrighty. So before we get
- 20:32Speaker 1: into our song break, we are going to introduce our guests.

- 22:20Speaker 1: and we're back. Hello. Hello, we're so excited today to
- 22:23Speaker 1: have with us in studio at Espa Noni Lamar and
- 22:29Speaker 1: thea Monier of All Heart Podcast. Welcome to look. Thank
- 22:33Speaker 1: you so much for being here. Can you introduce yourselves
- 22:35Speaker 1: for our listeners. Yes, we're super excited. Were over your cheesing.
- 22:40Speaker 1: I'm so happy. We're super happy to be here. Yes,
- 22:43Speaker 1: my name is and I'm Knowny Lamar. Yeah, we do
- 22:48Speaker 1: a podcast. It's all about joy and pleasure. Yes, yeah,
- 22:53Speaker 1: we HiPE, we HiPE to be here like this is great.
- 22:56Speaker 1: It's usually just the two of us. It's like double
- 22:58Speaker 1: the trouble to love it. We like that excited. Um
- 23:04Speaker 1: So so as a reminder to our listeners, work currently
- 23:07Speaker 1: in our quarter of fem tech. So you know, we
- 23:09Speaker 1: want to talk about our framework of fem technology and
- 23:13Speaker 1: ingenuity behind women and fem's um and our labor and
- 23:17Speaker 1: our science, our technology that's not often viewed as stem
- 23:21Speaker 1: or steam, right, Um, so really honoring that and bringing
- 23:25Speaker 1: that to the forefront um and what you you all
- 23:27Speaker 1: do through your podcast A Hard and talking about de
- 23:31Speaker 1: colonizing pleasure and being joy centered. You know, we really
- 23:34Speaker 1: want you to talk about your project and how that
- 23:36Speaker 1: came to be and why you're doing the work that
- 23:39Speaker 1: you're doing. A Yeah. So really, both the and The
- 23:43Speaker 1: and I have been friends for a really long time.
- 23:45Speaker 1: We were actually in our rap group together. And you know,
- 23:49Speaker 1: it's a little known fact, so you heard it here
- 23:54Speaker 1: a group. Yeah, there may be videos. Yeah, I'm not
- 23:57Speaker 1: going to tell you the name of room because I'll
- 24:00Speaker 1: give you a little little clue. It's a little too much.
- 24:02Speaker 1: So we were in a band together. It was a
- 24:05Speaker 1: rock rap outfit, you know, all together, and we lived together,
- 24:11Speaker 1: and you know, on her way out the door, she
- 24:13Speaker 1: would bring her baby, who's now how old it's a teenager. Yeah,
- 24:19Speaker 1: she would bring her baby and lay her in my
- 24:21Speaker 1: bed so I could hold her till her you know,
- 24:23Speaker 1: mother in law came to watch her. So we were family.
- 24:27Speaker 1: You know, we've been family for a long time. And
- 24:29Speaker 1: we kind of floated apart and then came back together
- 24:32Speaker 1: and when we came back together, we were on the
- 24:35Speaker 1: same wave, and that wave we were on was definitely
- 24:38Speaker 1: both really wanting to focus on joy and pleasure, like
- 24:42Speaker 1: those were the two things that we were spiritually aligned.
- 24:45Speaker 1: But we were like, man, this world right now is
- 24:47Speaker 1: like all in their fields on a negative just a
- 24:50Speaker 1: total negative wave, and we wanted to like bring something
- 24:54Speaker 1: to the culture that was really healing. You know. That
- 24:57Speaker 1: was really like for me, like that was like I
- 25:00Speaker 1: to do a heart centered work. And you know, I'm
- 25:03Speaker 1: definitely we're both hippies, but I'm definitely the real crunchy
- 25:07Speaker 1: of the two of us. I realized I'm more an
- 25:10Speaker 1: island after you, like on an island vibe. I'm definitely
- 25:16Speaker 1: like I'm making my own potions. I'm the alchemist amazing tease. Yeah,
- 25:21Speaker 1: I'm such a hippie, you know. But like THEA made
- 25:26Speaker 1: me realize, like you can't just talk about flower and
- 25:32Speaker 1: birds and just like how great life is all the time,
- 25:35Speaker 1: like you had to process through your trauma's too, And
- 25:38Speaker 1: so our podcast really does both, like we're talking about
- 25:41Speaker 1: the barriers to join and pleasure, but we're also talking
- 25:44Speaker 1: about like diving deep and just talking about food for
- 25:47Speaker 1: a whole episode, or just talking about being cozy and
- 25:49Speaker 1: like how good it feels to just like put on
- 25:52Speaker 1: a sweater and sit next to a fire. You know. Yeah, No,
- 25:55Speaker 1: only definitely introduced Like NONI introduced me to a lot
- 25:58Speaker 1: of stuff that like, I'm probably conceptualizing, but she knows
- 26:02Speaker 1: the actual name for it. I haven't. I didn't know
- 26:06Speaker 1: that was a thing. I fly just kind of off
- 26:09Speaker 1: the seat of my pants about things that Donties were like,
- 26:12Speaker 1: we should probably have a plan for this, we should
- 26:14Speaker 1: probably sounds like I recognize that we should probably look
- 26:19Speaker 1: at the deeper. But I think some of our best
- 26:22Speaker 1: moments have come when we were both so full of
- 26:25Speaker 1: emotion from things that are going on and the world
- 26:27Speaker 1: around us that we just came in and were like,
- 26:30Speaker 1: this can't be like planned. We're gonna have to just
- 26:32Speaker 1: press record. And I found that us being willing to
- 26:36Speaker 1: open up and share how we still prioritize joy and
- 26:40Speaker 1: pleasure in the midst of this bullshit has been like
- 26:44Speaker 1: a thing that people are like gravitating too. So it's
- 26:46Speaker 1: not even just like giving the strategies, but it's like, listen,
- 26:49Speaker 1: it's tough for us too, and we're gonna trudge through
- 26:52Speaker 1: all these conversations and still at the end of it
- 26:56Speaker 1: claim our right in the marginalized space is and to
- 27:01Speaker 1: having an accessing joy and pleasure which is super important
- 27:04Speaker 1: to us. Like that's you're right, Yes, I wanted to say, like,
- 27:08Speaker 1: I think it's important when we're when we're thinking about
- 27:11Speaker 1: manifesting things, when we're thinking of starting things, how it
- 27:15Speaker 1: shows up in the body and that resonance that you're feeling.
- 27:18Speaker 1: To me, that's your greatest signal of something that will
- 27:21Speaker 1: have a longevity or a true impact in the life
- 27:24Speaker 1: of yourself. First, I'm always kind of focused on how
- 27:27Speaker 1: it's going to be for me, and then how that
- 27:29Speaker 1: impact is going to affect others. And when we were
- 27:31Speaker 1: talking about starting all Heart podcasts, we were in tears,
- 27:34Speaker 1: like we're talking on the phone thinking about the ability
- 27:38Speaker 1: that we both had the knowledge that we had massed
- 27:40Speaker 1: at that point, like spending all this time healing ourselves,
- 27:44Speaker 1: spending all this time studying, spending all this time diving
- 27:47Speaker 1: deep spiritually, emotionally, and then to have a platform to
- 27:51Speaker 1: do that, Like we were like crying out of joy,
- 27:54Speaker 1: like this is gonna be so dope, and and it's
- 27:59Speaker 1: really easy, organic natural. You two just said so much
- 28:03Speaker 1: in there. Then I think there are so many in
- 28:05Speaker 1: roads to what you were both just talking about to
- 28:07Speaker 1: fem technology. And I even think even just like you know,
- 28:11Speaker 1: the hippie stuff, the tinctures and the oils and the
- 28:13Speaker 1: homemade goodies, and we were talking about before we started recording,
- 28:17Speaker 1: the fact that there's so many women of color like online,
- 28:19Speaker 1: like brujas and healers and even healing and like these
- 28:23Speaker 1: indigenous spiritualities as a fem technology. I don't know if
- 28:26Speaker 1: you want to talk a little bit more about that.
- 28:28Speaker 1: Actually being the planner, I did text via a little
- 28:32Speaker 1: something before we got ready to let me tell you
- 28:36Speaker 1: what it said. We did not plan this beforehand, So
- 28:39Speaker 1: I said THEA, the definition of technology is actually the
- 28:43Speaker 1: application of scientific knowledge for practical purposes, especially in industry.
- 28:48Speaker 1: And I said, you know, I think we talk a
- 28:50Speaker 1: lot about tech, but we don't talk about spiritual technology.
- 28:53Speaker 1: And I feel like that's where women have, that's women
- 28:57Speaker 1: in films, that's where we live, boom, you know, that's
- 29:00Speaker 1: where we live. Like you know, my partner like he
- 29:03Speaker 1: has to do a lot of studying and I just
- 29:05Speaker 1: have to go to sleep. And have a dream and
- 29:08Speaker 1: wake up and be you know, I got the answers. Yeah,
- 29:11Speaker 1: like I got the answers, I got the herb, I
- 29:14Speaker 1: got the I got the revelation. Let me light this candle,
- 29:17Speaker 1: you know, I got I gotta don't don't worry. You
- 29:20Speaker 1: don't don't stress. You don't need to read all them books.
- 29:23Speaker 1: I mean we can read them too, but like I
- 29:25Speaker 1: have access to this whole other place that that comes
- 29:29Speaker 1: from being a woman, being fami, you know. And I
- 29:31Speaker 1: think that's why I like the conversation. So, you know,
- 29:35Speaker 1: I I really go hard on decolonizing mental health, decolonizing pleasure,
- 29:40Speaker 1: because I'm very clear that that is under attack, specifically
- 29:45Speaker 1: so that we do not access that spiritual technology, because
- 29:49Speaker 1: that's the technology required to absolutely revolutionize and shift everything
- 29:53Speaker 1: in this world in an instant right. I'm very clear
- 29:56Speaker 1: that that power lies in the sacred chakra of the
- 30:00Speaker 1: feminine right. And so it's very like clear to me
- 30:03Speaker 1: how that's under attack and why even though we'll will
- 30:06Speaker 1: be talking about joy and pleasure, it definitely for us
- 30:09Speaker 1: intersects as a social justice issue, like it's um systemically
- 30:13Speaker 1: and intentionally oppressed because at this point, I think other
- 30:17Speaker 1: people know the power of it even more so than
- 30:20Speaker 1: we do. So when I challenge the mental health field,
- 30:23Speaker 1: a lot of the reasons I'm doing it is because
- 30:25Speaker 1: it's the idea. The myth about it is, Oh, you
- 30:29Speaker 1: come into this place and I give you something to
- 30:33Speaker 1: heal yourself. And I'm very clear with my clients that's
- 30:35Speaker 1: not what's happening. What's happening as I am willing to
- 30:38Speaker 1: be a safe space for you to heal yourself because
- 30:41Speaker 1: you have access to the spiritual technology, to the knowledge
- 30:44Speaker 1: it's already there. And like this idea that we always
- 30:47Speaker 1: have to wait for someone to give us access to
- 30:50Speaker 1: what's already ours kisses me so much. Um that, Like
- 30:57Speaker 1: I think we're really clear on Like even when we
- 31:00Speaker 1: each podcast, we do like, and here's what you can do.
- 31:03Speaker 1: So it's not like is doing this like we're just
- 31:07Speaker 1: literally reminding you and yourselves on a cellular level of
- 31:12Speaker 1: what you can do. Yeah, I really reject, like I
- 31:14Speaker 1: reject the ideas of gurus, Like I reject the idea
- 31:22Speaker 1: guru keeps like I can't. I reject that that notion
- 31:28Speaker 1: that anyone even projects that on me, you know, like
- 31:31Speaker 1: I have spiritual information, I have spiritual knowledge. But I'm
- 31:34Speaker 1: only here as your mirror, right, Like I'm here to
- 31:37Speaker 1: reflect you and for you to know that, like we're
- 31:40Speaker 1: the same, but there's only to me. There's only one
- 31:42Speaker 1: person here on earth, There's only one of us, right, So,
- 31:45Speaker 1: like I'm a I'm a fan of Thea's work of
- 31:48Speaker 1: decolonization because I don't personally get that. I don't even
- 31:52Speaker 1: get riled up about colonization because I'm thinking about more
- 31:57Speaker 1: so the future too often, like where are we in
- 32:00Speaker 1: the future, Like where are we after after after she's
- 32:04Speaker 1: done decolonizing, Like where are we going to be? And
- 32:07Speaker 1: I'm trying to create that that place, Like you know,
- 32:12Speaker 1: I'm here to like shift the frequency of the planet,
- 32:15Speaker 1: So what do we want that frequency to feel? Like what? What? Where? Where? Where?
- 32:19Speaker 1: Where is that? Where will we be? You know, looking
- 32:22Speaker 1: towards the future. I'm wondering too if we can even
- 32:26Speaker 1: think about how these conversations happening in the podcast format
- 32:29Speaker 1: at all, Like there's so many women of color podcasters
- 32:32Speaker 1: now doing so many different types of content and like
- 32:35Speaker 1: healing work, like podcasting as a vehicle for all this
- 32:39Speaker 1: stuff completely, and I see it all the time because
- 32:42Speaker 1: so I'm on All Heart Was Known, and then I
- 32:45Speaker 1: do DIM Black mamas Um and so on both podcasts.
- 32:49Speaker 1: What's been interesting is energetically, I feel like we have
- 32:53Speaker 1: the same wavelength and ideas like and and being in
- 32:58Speaker 1: both it comes out into for an expressions. But I'm like,
- 33:01Speaker 1: I get the d M s look the same, right,
- 33:04Speaker 1: The d M s are like, wow, you know this.
- 33:07Speaker 1: I didn't. I thought I was the only one. It
- 33:09Speaker 1: may be a different type of person saying it, but
- 33:11Speaker 1: the message is clear, like you being out there means
- 33:13Speaker 1: I'm not alone, that I can identify with someone someone
- 33:17Speaker 1: identifies with me, And so I feel like, um, we're
- 33:21Speaker 1: definitely doing something beyond entertainment, like we're tapping into like
- 33:27Speaker 1: right now, this is podcasting is still it's like in
- 33:29Speaker 1: that space where it's like they haven't co opted it
- 33:32Speaker 1: yet kind of spoken word you know, we know how
- 33:35Speaker 1: that was, and then they got a hold too and
- 33:38Speaker 1: it started corporatizing it into right and so we're in
- 33:42Speaker 1: that space right now. It's still very much a tool
- 33:45Speaker 1: of the rebellions. It can still be that, and we're
- 33:49Speaker 1: really using it and can do it, and we're doing
- 33:52Speaker 1: it and I even prescribe them so I've prescribed several
- 33:56Speaker 1: students your podcast, like I've been like, you know, as
- 34:00Speaker 1: a therapeutic tool. I did, like, you know, no, you
- 34:02Speaker 1: need to check this out and they'll come back and
- 34:04Speaker 1: give me feedback. So I'm prescribing podcast at this point.
- 34:07Speaker 1: Like that's again a form of decolonizing health in the
- 34:11Speaker 1: tool cap. Yeah, as I really you said something I
- 34:13Speaker 1: was listening to you on another podcast when this girl
- 34:18Speaker 1: is dope, Like, but you were talking about like if
- 34:24Speaker 1: you're with the therapist and they leaving you in your pain, yeah,
- 34:26Speaker 1: leave them, leave them. They should. They should that they
- 34:30Speaker 1: don't take you to your joy, pimp in your pain.
- 34:32Speaker 1: You need to the full process. The whole point of
- 34:35Speaker 1: me going to a therapist is to get to my joy.
- 34:38Speaker 1: If I just if we're like, oh, I feel so
- 34:40Speaker 1: much better now that you explain that trauma. I'm glad
- 34:42Speaker 1: you feel better, but I still haven't regained access to
- 34:47Speaker 1: you know, post traumatic growth and my joy. But the
- 34:50Speaker 1: habit energy, right, I've been thinking a lot about that
- 34:53Speaker 1: this week, Like the habit energy of the habit energy
- 34:57Speaker 1: of sadness, the habit and g of darkness, the habit
- 35:02Speaker 1: energy of pain, you know, like that's what we can
- 35:06Speaker 1: even get into the habit energy of rebellion against this thing.
- 35:10Speaker 1: Like so, how how do we exist even outside of
- 35:15Speaker 1: our oppression? That's always my question. And like when we're
- 35:19Speaker 1: talking about fam technology, like to me, I'm using um herbs.
- 35:24Speaker 1: For instance, I started reading about mother work. I've never
- 35:26Speaker 1: used it mother word. Yeah, I've started reading about mother wark.
- 35:30Speaker 1: And I go through these relationships with plants where they
- 35:33Speaker 1: start to call me like, hey, no, over here. We
- 35:36Speaker 1: know you like nettles so much. We know you're in
- 35:39Speaker 1: You're in your season and nettle, but we want you
- 35:41Speaker 1: over here, right, We want wants you, you know, And
- 35:46Speaker 1: I'm like okay. So then this week mother ward started
- 35:49Speaker 1: just calling my name and my damn mother word? What
- 35:52Speaker 1: you go from? Me? I started researching mother wark and
- 35:55Speaker 1: it's like, all, it's like the earth giving you a hug.
- 35:59Speaker 1: Like I recently lost my grandmother and so it's like
- 36:04Speaker 1: your grandma's hugs. Basically that's what everyone. It takes you
- 36:07Speaker 1: out of anxiety, like all of these things. I cannot
- 36:09Speaker 1: wait to get that tincture. But it's bitter. It's a
- 36:14Speaker 1: super bitter herb. And I just start thinking about that,
- 36:17Speaker 1: like why is something that's so bitter trying to call
- 36:20Speaker 1: call me so I can experience that sweetness too, you know.
- 36:24Speaker 1: So I'm always kind of thinking about, like, what are
- 36:26Speaker 1: these these kind of physical things in in the earth,
- 36:32Speaker 1: these physical things in the earth that we can really
- 36:35Speaker 1: utilize to take us to that new place and live there,
- 36:39Speaker 1: because I don't want to go back and forth, you know,
- 36:42Speaker 1: I don't want to go back and forth. I'm depressed today,
- 36:45Speaker 1: I'm happy today, I'm depressed today. I want to live
- 36:48Speaker 1: in in peace. That's really draining to go up and down,
- 36:51Speaker 1: up and down with your mood and your energy, and
- 36:54Speaker 1: it can be. And you know though I always think, no,
- 36:57Speaker 1: like I'm really focused on the I'm really focused on
- 37:01Speaker 1: the ad because everything we know, even in looking at tantra,
- 37:04Speaker 1: which is another ancient science that technology utilizes the shadow,
- 37:11Speaker 1: there's no there's no So even like you know, decommisation
- 37:16Speaker 1: in the future, they're not there, and like it's like
- 37:18Speaker 1: it's not either or. And the same thing with the
- 37:21Speaker 1: darkness and the light. So like when I'm teaching my clients,
- 37:23Speaker 1: they have a new relationship with what they think of
- 37:25Speaker 1: as dark because for me, in those loads are where
- 37:29Speaker 1: I create some of my best ships, and the light
- 37:33Speaker 1: it reveals it. But honestly, if I was walking around
- 37:36Speaker 1: happy all the time, I probably I can enjoy what
- 37:40Speaker 1: I've created in the dark when I'm happy, you know
- 37:43Speaker 1: what I'm saying, but that it's all necessary and I'm
- 37:46Speaker 1: really learning to like just like I used to be
- 37:49Speaker 1: so hard on myself when I dipped, or like you
- 37:51Speaker 1: know better, you know the tools. You know, this is
- 37:53Speaker 1: an illusion, Like I used to do all that, and
- 37:55Speaker 1: it was that was draining in me. Like it's a
- 37:58Speaker 1: lot of matter, like invating yourself up as opposed to accepting.
- 38:02Speaker 1: Like the thing that we've ultimately learned is that it's
- 38:05Speaker 1: all a part of the process and it's all for
- 38:07Speaker 1: our good. So that means even those lows are producing something.
- 38:12Speaker 1: You know. It's that I'm saying. A good therapist will
- 38:15Speaker 1: teach you what those lows, will help you to come
- 38:18Speaker 1: to understand within yourself what that low came to teach you.
- 38:23Speaker 1: It won't leave you with just a like broken pieces
- 38:25Speaker 1: and like, oh we figured that out, it would be
- 38:27Speaker 1: like no, and that was so that you could elevate
- 38:30Speaker 1: this or yourself or whatever. You know. So I really
- 38:33Speaker 1: am really looking at how things compliment um and not
- 38:38Speaker 1: like not or I think that or is even a columnize.
- 38:42Speaker 1: It's a it's a polarity. It's a polarity instead of
- 38:46Speaker 1: like being because I realized recently, like the darkness of
- 38:49Speaker 1: grief is an initiation. Now if this is like okay,
- 38:53Speaker 1: I'm an initiation to put everything up to question because
- 38:57Speaker 1: I'm saying, okay, now this is done. Is part of
- 39:00Speaker 1: life is done? And I'm in this new place. Well,
- 39:03Speaker 1: well now everything's on the table. Why am I doing that?
- 39:06Speaker 1: Why why do I believe that? You know? Oh my gosh,
- 39:09Speaker 1: this is like so sad. But what you're saying right
- 39:11Speaker 1: now about grief and stuff is reminding me of what
- 39:13Speaker 1: Lauren London said at Nipsey Hustle's funeral about grief or
- 39:17Speaker 1: being the final act of love and just like the
- 39:20Speaker 1: way that she spoke about, you know, like loving him,
- 39:24Speaker 1: and the way I've seen his mom talk to about
- 39:27Speaker 1: like just accepting and preparing for debt and just the
- 39:31Speaker 1: lens through which they're coping with like this really tragic murder.
- 39:35Speaker 1: I don't know, it's just drawing connections for me right
- 39:37Speaker 1: now with what you're saying, because part of her lens
- 39:39Speaker 1: is as Afro science spiritual technology. Yet those words and
- 39:45Speaker 1: we were like, oh okay, and if you and someone
- 39:53Speaker 1: was writing about this, if you look at how the
- 39:56Speaker 1: community grieved, again, that wasn't awakening of ancestral technology. Because
- 40:01Speaker 1: no one told us to go put the candles there,
- 40:03Speaker 1: no one told us to bring the stage. No one
- 40:05Speaker 1: told And it was kind of like intuitively, you look
- 40:08Speaker 1: and there's like a huge shrine. Right, like we have
- 40:12Speaker 1: been told you don't do shrines anymore, right, like the
- 40:15Speaker 1: idea that like you only go to this church on
- 40:18Speaker 1: this thing, this thing, but here separately, we created one
- 40:22Speaker 1: big communal shrine. Even the way, even the way that
- 40:26Speaker 1: they traveled with him through the community was very That's
- 40:30Speaker 1: what our ancestors would have done, right, so that everybody
- 40:33Speaker 1: was a chance to like celebrate indigenous. To me, that
- 40:38Speaker 1: was something spiritually shifted, like you could see it like
- 40:43Speaker 1: in like, oh, we're doing things that we don't even
- 40:47Speaker 1: that we don't have to think about. Their intuit is happening.
- 40:51Speaker 1: And even like my mom was like, I want to
- 40:53Speaker 1: go she knows that practice ari, I wanta go to
- 40:55Speaker 1: your church. I don't have church. But right like going
- 41:00Speaker 1: on three years and she's never said that, right, so
- 41:03Speaker 1: after she saw awakening happening technology. That's interesting too, because
- 41:14Speaker 1: your mom got her initiative from another mother. It had
- 41:17Speaker 1: to be like mother, mother, I've been saying it. You know.
- 41:24Speaker 1: I had to think about have have like my own
- 41:26Speaker 1: internalized sexism when I was I was listening to y'all
- 41:29Speaker 1: talk about film tech and about building things and engineering,
- 41:33Speaker 1: and I realized I was like, yeah, but we all
- 41:36Speaker 1: we built the pyramids, like I've been to I've been
- 41:38Speaker 1: to the pyramids in Mexico and like I've been you know,
- 41:41Speaker 1: I haven't been to the pyramids in Egypt or ancient
- 41:43Speaker 1: Chemist yet. But I had to realize this whole time
- 41:46Speaker 1: in my mind there were men. In my mind, there
- 41:51Speaker 1: were men that built these things. I never even imagined that.
- 41:55Speaker 1: And then I was like, wait, wait, wait, wait, of
- 41:58Speaker 1: course women building. Wait look at the symmetry, like the
- 42:04Speaker 1: actual the pyramids in Egypt are set up as astrological structures,
- 42:11Speaker 1: like they're in alignment with serious and like other other
- 42:14Speaker 1: stars and constellations, like who are the astrologers now? And
- 42:19Speaker 1: if you watch Beyonce, you're like, of course, yeah, yeah,
- 42:26Speaker 1: She's like, we got to get the pyramids in that.
- 42:30Speaker 1: But I'm thinking about climbing the Pyramid of the Sun,
- 42:32Speaker 1: the Pyramid of the Moon, and being up there and
- 42:35Speaker 1: looking around and I was like, dang. Even as I
- 42:37Speaker 1: was climbing, I thought, oh these look at these men? Yeah,
- 42:42Speaker 1: what kind of you know to be like hey know
- 42:44Speaker 1: this it was us? Yeah, definitely, but it just yeah,
- 42:49Speaker 1: I mean, I think exactly what you're saying about that
- 42:52Speaker 1: internalized sexism, right, because if you're thinking about like who
- 42:55Speaker 1: the historians are, they are men, right, so there, if anything,
- 42:58Speaker 1: they're the ones that have been telling that that that
- 43:01Speaker 1: story or the knowledge. But actually we have been there,
- 43:04Speaker 1: we have been creating the things, whatever happening is. I mean,
- 43:08Speaker 1: And when I was like, I went to like Monte
- 43:10Speaker 1: alban too, and I like I saw my face like
- 43:13Speaker 1: on the sick like I was like, I was looking around.
- 43:15Speaker 1: I was like, guys, guys, I was like standing next
- 43:20Speaker 1: to it, like hello, hey, yo, like look at the
- 43:25Speaker 1: I mean, come on. But what's interesting to me is
- 43:28Speaker 1: the conspiracy theories you hear, like in particular about pyramids
- 43:31Speaker 1: and Latin America aliens. Na, it has to be nas.
- 43:37Speaker 1: Also the alien alias. It has to be the aliens
- 43:40Speaker 1: because people of color couldn't have thought about all of
- 43:42Speaker 1: this exactly exactly. There's no way we would rather believe
- 43:47Speaker 1: literally c right right right. It's so crazy. I know,
- 43:53Speaker 1: it's so thick, the denialist thing. So I'm wondering what
- 43:58Speaker 1: just thinking about the podcast us in all hard and
- 44:01Speaker 1: all these conversations that are being had. If you want
- 44:03Speaker 1: to share with us any like news updates, announcements for
- 44:07Speaker 1: our listeners about you know, what's coming up with the
- 44:10Speaker 1: podcast or with any of your individual work where they
- 44:13Speaker 1: can find you and listen to some of these really
- 44:15Speaker 1: important conversations. We I think together we've set a really
- 44:19Speaker 1: clear intention this year to really organically reach people, touch people,
- 44:27Speaker 1: meet with people. So you'll probably hear more about like, hey,
- 44:30Speaker 1: we are at such and such coffee shop. Come have
- 44:33Speaker 1: coffee with us, just like spontaneous and because that's how
- 44:37Speaker 1: we like to be, you know, we like to have
- 44:39Speaker 1: some freedom, but we also really like to connect um
- 44:43Speaker 1: so that and then we we we are weekly putting
- 44:47Speaker 1: out content. Every Wednesday, We're putting out content and just
- 44:51Speaker 1: kind of growing in that way. And then individually we
- 44:55Speaker 1: have a million projects follow all heart you could follow
- 44:59Speaker 1: us and see like the work that we're doing on
- 45:02Speaker 1: Our Heart definitely trickles into music and film and stuff
- 45:07Speaker 1: with known and then like working with decommizing mental health
- 45:11Speaker 1: and pleasure and sex therapy for me. So it's just
- 45:15Speaker 1: together we can we cover quite. Yeah, we're really into
- 45:21Speaker 1: spreading by word of mouth, like I love you know,
- 45:24Speaker 1: I love how great. I love Instagram and care about
- 45:27Speaker 1: and nobody said I love Instagram. It's my meditation, but
- 45:31Speaker 1: one of my meditations. Okay, I love Instagram. It's beautiful.
- 45:34Speaker 1: But I also I also love like the old school
- 45:38Speaker 1: technology of word of mouth. And this year we're so
- 45:42Speaker 1: focused on that, like we want you to tell somebody
- 45:45Speaker 1: about All Heart because on All Heart we are Our
- 45:48Speaker 1: most popular episode, which is like listen toimes like three
- 45:52Speaker 1: times more than every other episode, is our episode on forgiveness,
- 45:56Speaker 1: and people write to us saying that keep listening to
- 45:59Speaker 1: it over and over and over because when they start,
- 46:02Speaker 1: they don't want to forgive anybody, and they keep going.
- 46:05Speaker 1: But we know that that's is hard, but that's the
- 46:11Speaker 1: first you know, that's the first step. That's the first
- 46:14Speaker 1: step to your own personal freedom right, And so we
- 46:17Speaker 1: talk about that a lot. Yeah, I've been thinking about
- 46:19Speaker 1: that a lot actually, because I think in the past
- 46:21Speaker 1: week some like old traumas have come up. When we
- 46:23Speaker 1: were at a university talk um, some old stuff came up,
- 46:28Speaker 1: and so I've been thinking about that, like what I
- 46:30Speaker 1: thought the anger was behind me, and then I was retriggered.
- 46:34Speaker 1: So so now what you know, I don't want to
- 46:36Speaker 1: forgive anymore. Now I'm stuck in the anger again. So
- 46:39Speaker 1: how do I work through that? You know? I when
- 46:42Speaker 1: I work with clients one, I tell them sometimes you'll
- 46:45Speaker 1: get a trigger and it seems like the same trigger
- 46:48Speaker 1: or it brings it the same thing, but it's about
- 46:51Speaker 1: a different part of yourself. Right, So maybe we feeled
- 46:54Speaker 1: it emotionally but we haven't heard it's like a logic.
- 46:57Speaker 1: Maybehood it is like ologically, but we haven't thought about
- 46:59Speaker 1: it physically. Maybe we feel you know what I'm saying.
- 47:01Speaker 1: So usually it looks it's the same. It could be
- 47:03Speaker 1: the same trigger, but it's in a different place, It's
- 47:06Speaker 1: in a different part of you. One talking about spiritual technology,
- 47:10Speaker 1: boooo has on he has the herbs, I have the stones,
- 47:14Speaker 1: So teal floor right? Is my yes, mother, I want
- 47:22Speaker 1: to yeah, it's not right? Is my motherfucker? When it
- 47:27Speaker 1: comes to forgiveness and understanding. What that really means is
- 47:31Speaker 1: show me the mirror that this moment is holding up
- 47:35Speaker 1: and help me to see what it is so that
- 47:37Speaker 1: I can like make whatever adjustments I need to make.
- 47:41Speaker 1: And usually within a day of holding that thing close
- 47:45Speaker 1: to me, it's like, yeah, and it's sometimes not even
- 47:49Speaker 1: about what we thought it was about. Like sometimes we
- 47:51Speaker 1: thought it was about like the trauma itself. And I'm talking,
- 47:54Speaker 1: I'm doing a denim day at um Polypomona. Yeah, it's
- 47:58Speaker 1: so excited and we're gonna be talking about how to
- 48:02Speaker 1: hold a story um and learning how to hold a story.
- 48:05Speaker 1: And what I found is like a lot of trauma.
- 48:09Speaker 1: There's a trauma of the incident, but what really people
- 48:13Speaker 1: comes into my chair for is how their community held
- 48:16Speaker 1: their trauma after. If they had a community that was
- 48:20Speaker 1: like able and process with them the trauma, they wouldn't
- 48:23Speaker 1: be in my seat, they really wouldn't. But what happened
- 48:26Speaker 1: is the community kept ree traumatized and kept asking for evidence,
- 48:30Speaker 1: kept asking for X, Y and Z. And that is
- 48:34Speaker 1: really what they're talking about, and that's that's actually when
- 48:37Speaker 1: you're dealing with that, you can really rewrite that narrative
- 48:40Speaker 1: absolutely can reimagine that narrati lately. And another tool we've
- 48:44Speaker 1: talked about two on All Heart podcast is like tapping
- 48:47Speaker 1: e FT and really using e f T because you're
- 48:50Speaker 1: using these points in your body and our body is
- 48:54Speaker 1: storing this trauma, right, and so you're using these points
- 48:57Speaker 1: you're tapping and you're saying, like, even though this happened,
- 49:01Speaker 1: I totally and completely love and accept myself. You know,
- 49:05Speaker 1: it's all about self acceptance, self love and like and
- 49:08Speaker 1: saying even though this may be the truth, like I'm
- 49:11Speaker 1: building a new truth. Right. So that's another tool that
- 49:15Speaker 1: like I really find when I'm like in a bad place,
- 49:18Speaker 1: Like that's one of the things I go to because
- 49:19Speaker 1: I'm tapping on these meridians all of these places on
- 49:23Speaker 1: my body. And trauma has a way of like overshadowing
- 49:28Speaker 1: a lot of things, Like it begins to it's like
- 49:30Speaker 1: the blob. It kind of it's like everything begins to
- 49:34Speaker 1: go into it, and so when you're starting to do
- 49:37Speaker 1: the work and you're healing, it's the blob pulls back.
- 49:40Speaker 1: And so that's what I'm saying, Like we could be
- 49:42Speaker 1: triggered by something, but it could actually be related to
- 49:44Speaker 1: something that is not directly about the trauma, but more
- 49:47Speaker 1: so a person who was peripheral to it. It's really crazy,
- 49:53Speaker 1: but it will come up. But each time it comes up,
- 49:55Speaker 1: it's it's slightly different. That's the thing I would encourage
- 49:58Speaker 1: so because because I want people to feel like their
- 50:00Speaker 1: behind or like, oh I have the first thing it says,
- 50:02Speaker 1: I haven't done something. I thought I was doing the work.
- 50:05Speaker 1: I'm regressing. It's not that it's just a new it's
- 50:07Speaker 1: a it's new even though it's the same. Thank for them. Yeah,
- 50:10Speaker 1: there are a lot of external factors that impact like
- 50:13Speaker 1: how we internalize the trauma. Like I feel like to
- 50:16Speaker 1: what you're describing is when there's a lack of reception,
- 50:19Speaker 1: like positive reception to your pain, or when there's a
- 50:21Speaker 1: lack of justice there's a lack of action, it can
- 50:25Speaker 1: just make like overcoming it's so much worse. And you
- 50:27Speaker 1: bring up Denim day and the way that you and
- 50:29Speaker 1: I be a man in person was at cal State
- 50:32Speaker 1: l A like doing uh, you knowining training for sexual
- 50:36Speaker 1: assault advocacy and um, you know, I think that a
- 50:40Speaker 1: big part of that training was talking about how oftentimes
- 50:43Speaker 1: depending on your identity, especially for survivors of color, there
- 50:46Speaker 1: is a lack of justice. So how does that make
- 50:48Speaker 1: recovery from trauma even more difficult and already marginalized communities
- 50:52Speaker 1: or transgenerational trauma? Because because you know, even if, what
- 50:57Speaker 1: if you're a product group whose bodies were used to
- 51:01Speaker 1: just so called breed and to do all these different
- 51:04Speaker 1: like it's a lot or to be experimented on, or
- 51:06Speaker 1: like there's just a lot. And so a lot of
- 51:09Speaker 1: the work we're doing now is like your body is not.
- 51:12Speaker 1: Our bodies are not like the ground zero. We're not.
- 51:15Speaker 1: We can't, we can't. They actually house so much power.
- 51:19Speaker 1: We cannot continue to to run from them and associate
- 51:22Speaker 1: from them. We need to be in them to claim
- 51:25Speaker 1: what's rightfully. Hour. I was thinking about that this morning.
- 51:28Speaker 1: You know, some someone was asking, you know, my daughter's
- 51:31Speaker 1: hair was looking crazy, and then my auntie was asking
- 51:33Speaker 1: about her hair, and I said, well, let's ask her.
- 51:36Speaker 1: This is her body. Do you do you want her
- 51:38Speaker 1: to do your hair? Yes? And I said, okay, well
- 51:40Speaker 1: this is style I have in mind for you. You know,
- 51:42Speaker 1: talk about my favorite kind of technology is corn rows. Right,
- 51:46Speaker 1: So I can't do them, but I got dreams, I
- 51:49Speaker 1: got a visions like I finally met like who talk
- 51:55Speaker 1: about a scientist. I met a scientist. I mean this
- 51:57Speaker 1: woman Lisa Boom, Lisa's making me up. She's like, oh,
- 52:01Speaker 1: you got a little short piece, but let me let
- 52:03Speaker 1: me do something. She like start mixing up, this little mixing.
- 52:06Speaker 1: Start that. Next time I saw her that thing, I
- 52:08Speaker 1: grow like three, like what did you do in the
- 52:11Speaker 1: at Lisa? So I was like, I think she wants
- 52:13Speaker 1: you know, you want some break She's like, yeah, I
- 52:15Speaker 1: want some braids. I want that. Someone else came and
- 52:17Speaker 1: asked her, you know, do you like these shoes? And
- 52:20Speaker 1: she just kind of was like whatever, and like do
- 52:21Speaker 1: you want them? Should I keep keeping for her? And
- 52:24Speaker 1: I said, ask her like she is too. She knows
- 52:29Speaker 1: how to say yes and no. She knows how to
- 52:31Speaker 1: pick out what she likes. It's her body, it's her hair,
- 52:35Speaker 1: it's her clothes, it's her expression, that's her. Let her.
- 52:39Speaker 1: Let her be autonomous, you know, let her have that world,
- 52:42Speaker 1: you know that world she does. This is amazing. There's
- 52:47Speaker 1: because there's so much more to talk about, like even
- 52:49Speaker 1: just bringing up like black hair culture is technology. Oh
- 52:53Speaker 1: that's my favorite. Yeah, yes, you your hair always it's
- 52:59Speaker 1: amazing constantly, and she has lots of my hair. I'll
- 53:03Speaker 1: do braids, I'll do we've afro crochet. I won't purn
- 53:08Speaker 1: my hair. That's not that's but no, no, no, I'm
- 53:11Speaker 1: not going to that level. But I will I will
- 53:14Speaker 1: do like. I'm like a real like I want real like.
- 53:17Speaker 1: This is no because I haven't been doing No you
- 53:20Speaker 1: ustill have a fresh press. No particularly Sky. Yeah, this one,
- 53:25Speaker 1: I was like, did I to I can went to
- 53:28Speaker 1: somebody's shop. I mean black hair technology, black black hairstylists
- 53:33Speaker 1: are the most brilliant. And I wanted to say, you
- 53:37Speaker 1: guys used the word on want of your episodes. And
- 53:39Speaker 1: this is actually the focus of my work as a writer.
- 53:42Speaker 1: So I I write scripts to write, and I write music.
- 53:45Speaker 1: I write, I write anything you could write down. I'm
- 53:47Speaker 1: writing it. But I write about women with genius. You know.
- 53:52Speaker 1: We're working on a project together. And the reason I
- 53:54Speaker 1: was drawn to adapting one of Thea's novels was because
- 53:59Speaker 1: the woman was genius, and that because was the NONI was.
- 54:07Speaker 1: She caught me a genius and it hit like something
- 54:11Speaker 1: in my body and I was changed from that point off.
- 54:13Speaker 1: But she was the first person to say that, and
- 54:16Speaker 1: when you say it, always bring me back to that
- 54:19Speaker 1: moment because it definitely gave me so much more permission
- 54:21Speaker 1: to do the work that I'm doing right now. So
- 54:23Speaker 1: I'm about to hug your right now. Yes, I love it.
- 54:26Speaker 1: This is like our whole point of existing. It's archiving
- 54:30Speaker 1: the genius of women of color, and it's like their
- 54:32Speaker 1: genius is amongst us. It's just naming. Yeah, yeah, you know.
- 54:36Speaker 1: Oh my gosh, Nanny Lamar. Then, thank you so much.
- 54:41Speaker 1: We got to bring to we want to talk more.
- 54:45Speaker 1: Cross two will be when you all come. Yes, I

- 55:02Speaker 1: wait to have you on again. Yes, Cross Collab is
- 55:05Speaker 1: an order, Yes, Cross class in the order and off
- 55:08Speaker 1: the whole number. Yes. So until then, can you just
- 55:15Speaker 1: plug more? All Heart? Where can our listeners find your work?
- 55:19Speaker 1: How can they support you and follow you? Okay, so
- 55:22Speaker 1: All Heart Podcasts, It's on Instagram and Facebook. We haven't
- 55:26Speaker 1: made it to Twitter, and then you can find us

- 55:53Speaker 1: and so I definitely want to pop up at one
- 55:55Speaker 1: of the spots she is featuring and stuff like that.
- 55:57Speaker 1: So we're exciting, and we're tagged on our all Heart
- 56:00Speaker 1: podcasts and you can follow us to knowny Lamar and
- 56:03Speaker 1: Theamnia fabulous. Thank you so much for havulously made it happen, happens.
- 56:09Speaker 1: So excited, I'm gonna shop, yes, right at a Spasso,
- 56:13Speaker 1: come out to a Spasio plug plug plug. So the
- 56:17Speaker 1: first time I really ever came into contact with Thea's
- 56:19Speaker 1: work was Deaf Poetry Jam. I was like, what like fourteen,
- 56:26Speaker 1: watching women to women like I can relay not at all.
- 56:31Speaker 1: I'm a child, but I feel it so deeply. It's
- 56:33Speaker 1: also called bitch Eye taught him. I feel like the
- 56:35Speaker 1: public renamed it. So we're our outre. We're gonna play
- 56:40Speaker 1: the woman to woman. Thank you once again for being here.
- 56:47Speaker 1: I'm actuately glad that you were bold and brave enough
- 56:50Speaker 1: to call my house so that we could discuss this
- 56:53Speaker 1: woman to woman and trying to work somebody's things out,
- 57:00Speaker 1: so we could compare notes on some dates in time
- 57:02Speaker 1: and try to figure out some of his tired ass live.
- 57:08Speaker 1: I'm actually glad to be hending from the lips and
- 57:10Speaker 1: lift the lipstick on my man's collar, even though he
- 57:14Speaker 1: told me he was working late, just trying to earn
- 57:15Speaker 1: a couple at your dollars, and I loved and not
- 57:17Speaker 1: trusting him, so his bullshit I would swallow, even though
- 57:20Speaker 1: my intuition would never let me sleep. So I guess
- 57:24Speaker 1: the gaps in our relationship or where you thought you
- 57:26Speaker 1: would fit in just an insecure woman chasing after man
- 57:30Speaker 1: who's already got a woman. But your puss is not
- 57:32Speaker 1: deep enough for a real man's fall in love with.
- 57:34Speaker 1: And that's we already know, because I see your third
- 57:36Speaker 1: is so short that it already shows your best assets.
- 57:39Speaker 1: So there's no point in wah time trying to figure
- 57:40Speaker 1: out what you're thinking. After all, he is not fucking
- 57:45Speaker 1: you for your mind and you're still younger hearts? Do
- 57:51Speaker 1: you think this is real? Cute telling your friends girl,
- 57:53Speaker 1: he's cheating on me because he really wants you when
- 57:55Speaker 1: the reality is that we are nothing alike. When he
- 57:59Speaker 1: can't deal with all of me, he goes to you
- 58:01Speaker 1: to get me off of his mind, but it never works.
- 58:02Speaker 1: Se he gets real still as he lays between the sheet,
- 58:05Speaker 1: says he's tuning you out. And now he's picture of
- 58:07Speaker 1: me because you put up with that ship that I
- 58:09Speaker 1: just won't deal with cause I'm strong and who I
- 58:11Speaker 1: asked and and he loves that. He loves that about me.
- 58:15Speaker 1: It's just sometimes he can't stand the reality that he
- 58:17Speaker 1: doesn't deserve a woman like me. And when he feels
- 58:20Speaker 1: that way, well, hell, that's when he comes calling me
- 58:22Speaker 1: your dirty sheet. And just like a child, you thought
- 58:26Speaker 1: you would call me to share, calling me to disclose
- 58:29Speaker 1: to me the color of my man's underwear, and you
- 58:31Speaker 1: tell me like I don't already know. Hell, I wollt
- 58:33Speaker 1: him trying to tell me about how my man sucks. Bitch,
- 58:37Speaker 1: I taught him, so, so why don't you do why
- 58:49Speaker 1: don't you do me a favorite? And when he comes
- 58:51Speaker 1: over tonight, and he's coming and you're coming, and you're
- 58:55Speaker 1: both coming. At last year, simply lean back his head
- 58:58Speaker 1: and look him deep in his eyes.
