- 0:06Speaker 1: Hello everybody, and welcome to another edition of Cardinal Territory.
- 0:10Speaker 1: I'm Jim Hayes. Our special guest is a buddy of mine,
- 0:13Speaker 1: Corey Miller from KSDK Channel five, who's all suited up
- 0:18Speaker 1: because he just got off the air and he looks
- 0:20Speaker 1: very handsome. Before we get to Corey, though, we have
- 0:23Speaker 1: some business to take care of and it has to
- 0:26Speaker 1: do with merch.
- 0:27Speaker 2: Now.
- 0:27Speaker 1: We're always peddling Cardinal Territory merch. Now Foul Territory is
- 0:32Speaker 1: offering official All Star Game merch. So all you have
- 0:38Speaker 1: to do is click on that QR code and you
- 0:41Speaker 1: can see the whole collection, real deal, officially licensed All
- 0:46Speaker 1: Star Game merch. So hit that QR code and get
- 0:51Speaker 1: some of that. Corey. It is nice to have you again.
- 0:55Speaker 1: We appreciate you coming on after you just got off
- 0:58Speaker 1: the air. The Cardinals just took a lost five to
- 1:01Speaker 1: three in Arizona, so we're going to get your thoughts
- 1:04Speaker 1: on that. They drop back to five hundred if I'm
- 1:07Speaker 1: not mistaken. My main takeaway from that is Dustin May
- 1:12Speaker 1: had another rough one. Now he had stretched ten twelve
- 1:15Speaker 1: games where he was lights at one of the best
- 1:16Speaker 1: pitchers in the National League but if you recall he
- 1:20Speaker 1: had a bad outing, then he got a line drive
- 1:22Speaker 1: off his ankle, and then some short starts there hasn't
- 1:27Speaker 1: been quite the same Today. He goes five innings, gives
- 1:30Speaker 1: up eight hits, five runs, and he walks four. That's
- 1:34Speaker 1: a big problem. Now my concern with Dustin May. I
- 1:38Speaker 1: think they're gonna deal them now. I just also want
- 1:40Speaker 1: to tell you Corey that my other partners on this show,
- 1:44Speaker 1: with lanceln and Kyle Gibson, when I say I think
- 1:47Speaker 1: the Cardinals will trade this guy, they try to say,
- 1:51Speaker 1: I want to see this guy trade it. I don't.
- 1:54Speaker 1: I like Dustin May. I just think he has value
- 1:58Speaker 1: and there's a mutual option next year for twenty million.
- 2:01Speaker 1: I think he's going to want the bag long term.
- 2:04Speaker 1: I think the Cardinals can use the money elsewhere. So
- 2:07Speaker 1: my question to you is should we be overly concerned
- 2:12Speaker 1: about Dustin May right now?
- 2:15Speaker 3: Well, first of all, thank you for having me on.
- 2:16Speaker 2: I'm honored program take our you know, locker room conversation
- 2:22Speaker 2: to uh have the people out there at large.
- 2:25Speaker 3: I appreciate it.
- 2:26Speaker 2: Dustin May, when the Cardinals signed, I was saying that, ever,
- 2:30Speaker 2: but I don't know if I've ever seen a more
- 2:32Speaker 2: obvious Let sign this guy hopefully rehabilitate what people of
- 2:37Speaker 2: them and with them signing from the Cardinals and maybe
- 2:40Speaker 2: ever since I've been alive, it seems very obvious that
- 2:43Speaker 2: they wanted to happen and that can still happen. But
- 2:46Speaker 2: like you said, we've seen the gamut of Dustin May
- 2:50Speaker 2: you know, experience the domination of a complete game and
- 2:54Speaker 2: then the game in Atlanta.
- 2:56Speaker 3: Where he gets hurt.
- 2:57Speaker 2: Kind of today is in the middle of that, where
- 3:01Speaker 2: he gets you know, the ending, still the inning, but
- 3:04Speaker 2: doesn't have you know, moment that's going out of that.
- 3:08Speaker 2: I think still that the deadline is gonna have that
- 3:10Speaker 2: value on him. I also think they're going with it's
- 3:13Speaker 2: an interesting conversation and maybe this is.
- 3:16Speaker 3: A guy you invest in.
- 3:17Speaker 2: It be somebody that these young guys coming up, we'll
- 3:20Speaker 2: look because the Cardinals would benefit from a guy like
- 3:24Speaker 2: that going forward. But yeah, get that money on the books.
- 3:29Speaker 2: It just makes too much sense to deal him. If
- 3:31Speaker 2: there's people out there interested in that, there will be. Hopefully,
- 3:36Speaker 2: if you're hind blue, you know, every single start he makes,
- 3:39Speaker 2: you're getting a little more nervous that it's not good
- 3:41Speaker 2: not good, and I think Dustin knows that too, and he.
- 3:45Speaker 3: Would love to go on Cardinals. They're like Park right now,
- 3:49Speaker 3: but more of a.
- 3:50Speaker 2: Defender, So it would behoove all party for him to
- 3:53Speaker 2: kind of pick it up. And the last few starts probably.
- 3:58Speaker 1: Now for dust In may number one job I think
- 4:02Speaker 1: from his point of view would be showing MLB that
- 4:05Speaker 1: I'm healthy. Check that box, because he had a long
- 4:09Speaker 1: stretch where he looked really good. I don't know what
- 4:12Speaker 1: went on today, I'm not in Arizona, but the four walks.
- 4:17Speaker 1: I talked to Dusty Blake, the pitching coach, and I
- 4:20Speaker 1: was like, what are the things that you see and
- 4:23Speaker 1: he said, well, number one, he's walking guys, which when
- 4:26Speaker 1: things are right, he's not walking guys. Four more walks today,
- 4:29Speaker 1: only five innings too, and he threw ninety eight pitches.
- 4:33Speaker 1: I think that's a plus that he can throw them
- 4:35Speaker 1: many pitches. You'd like to see him go deeper. But
- 4:38Speaker 1: my concern is what you get in return if you're
- 4:42Speaker 1: going to deal this guy. And again Corey Miller says,
- 4:45Speaker 1: trade him. I'm sorry, I'm just trying to play the
- 4:47Speaker 1: role of Lancelint. Neither of us are saying trade him.
- 4:50Speaker 1: We just think he will be traded a lot of people.
- 4:53Speaker 1: I think Corey agreed when they signed him, this is
- 4:56Speaker 1: a guy that could flip right. They did their homework
- 4:59Speaker 1: and said he's healthy. We're going to give him a
- 5:02Speaker 1: pathway to show he's healthy. But my concern is, boy,
- 5:05Speaker 1: if you go a few games ago, the Hall would
- 5:09Speaker 1: have been great, and there's still a lot of baseball
- 5:11Speaker 1: to play, and I know he's a competitor and he
- 5:13Speaker 1: wants to finish strong. That's my concern is that what
- 5:16Speaker 1: could have been a huge Hall might be limited unless
- 5:19Speaker 1: he gets it back on track.
- 5:22Speaker 2: We talk about this later, got all the guys who
- 5:24Speaker 2: are kind of end up traded.
- 5:27Speaker 3: He was kind of the guy at the top that.
- 5:28Speaker 2: You think that the main guy Wire more than O'Brien, Socket,
- 5:36Speaker 2: Jojo Romero. Now on I l that thinks a little
- 5:39Speaker 2: bit too far. What is his work the other team?
- 5:43Speaker 2: So May was gonna be the guy that would get you.
- 5:46Speaker 3: The biggest Hall. So maybe not feeling as great as
- 5:49Speaker 3: you did.
- 5:51Speaker 1: So what we also saw today was a multi hit
- 5:53Speaker 1: game from Weatherhold Walker coming through with a big hit.
- 5:58Speaker 1: These two guys just seem to be getting better and
- 6:00Speaker 1: better and again still out of baseball to play. But
- 6:04Speaker 1: with what we saw Walker do with the home run Derby,
- 6:06Speaker 1: which is unlike anything I've seen before, right, I mean,
- 6:10Speaker 1: not only did you know the the guys, you know,
- 6:14Speaker 1: the Philly guys were saying it's over, right, and it
- 6:16Speaker 1: wasn't over because he kept going. Then you see his families,
- 6:20Speaker 1: You see what a nice guy is like. It's the
- 6:23Speaker 1: world is his now. And if you look at Weatherhole
- 6:26Speaker 1: after he gets the extension, everyone, his teammates, the fans,
- 6:30Speaker 1: everyone is excited. Those two guys you figure are gonna
- 6:35Speaker 1: be right. I mean, they're the guys you're gonna build
- 6:38Speaker 1: around for years to come. And that's a good thing.
- 6:41Speaker 2: That's your pundation staying arout the last. The Walker moment
- 6:47Speaker 2: in the home run Derby is the best Ardnold baseball
- 6:50Speaker 2: moment at least since Albert two over the last decade.
- 6:54Speaker 3: You know, it's play up.
- 6:55Speaker 2: There, especially how everything old of the end, Billy playing
- 7:01Speaker 2: the villain against that crowd and kind of everything. And
- 7:05Speaker 2: you know, you and I have covered work for a
- 7:07Speaker 2: long time, but it was really tough. You know, this
- 7:11Speaker 2: goes about it the right works hard to such a
- 7:13Speaker 2: decent game with a great family.
- 7:15Speaker 3: And it just wasn't working for him.
- 7:18Speaker 2: The Seed even has been incredible, so level headed and
- 7:22Speaker 2: cool throughout it all. I guess I should have expected
- 7:26Speaker 2: that in the home run Derby, but that's what we've
- 7:28Speaker 2: seen all season. But I thought that would rattle him
- 7:30Speaker 2: a bit, and it just looks like he did all long.
- 7:33Speaker 2: He knows what he could do, and he's going out
- 7:35Speaker 2: there and proving it. Hopefully, even though it was on
- 7:37Speaker 2: Netflik got to kind of wake up.
- 7:43Speaker 1: Yeah, Netflix, I didn't like the Netflix coverage. I'd like
- 7:46Speaker 1: to know on every home run the distance. I'd like
- 7:49Speaker 1: an angle where I could see where the ball goes.
- 7:51Speaker 1: I would like for the guys to know the rules
- 7:53Speaker 1: of the home run Derby. That being said, though, going
- 7:57Speaker 1: into it, see, I think the concern with Walker was
- 8:01Speaker 1: what if he hits a down week or two and
- 8:05Speaker 1: then messes with him again? Right, and people, you've you've
- 8:08Speaker 1: heard this. You know the home run der where you
- 8:10Speaker 1: can mess with your swing. The fact that he wanted
- 8:14Speaker 1: to do it, the fact that he wanted to go
- 8:16Speaker 1: and have fun because it was a boyhood dream of his,
- 8:20Speaker 1: and the fact that he dominates tells me there's no
- 8:24Speaker 1: more worries about Jordan Walker. I know the fact that
- 8:27Speaker 1: he said I want to do it, I'm going to
- 8:29Speaker 1: do it told me a lot. How about you?
- 8:32Speaker 2: And as you're watching it, there are a couple of
- 8:34Speaker 2: things that stood out that that made me not worried
- 8:37Speaker 2: about what's after.
- 8:39Speaker 3: Uh did you formatt?
- 8:40Speaker 2: I think benefits everybody that's you're on a timer. You're
- 8:44Speaker 2: up there clinging away, can't here. You know, you get
- 8:47Speaker 2: to take your time. You're not really rocking the probably
- 8:50Speaker 2: less hurt yourself or throw yourself off. And the way
- 8:55Speaker 2: he was hitting home runs, he wasn't necessarily hitting the
- 8:58Speaker 2: jack pack.
- 8:59Speaker 3: Then we'll sure it's almost five hundred foot bobs.
- 9:03Speaker 2: He looked like Jorga Walker in game in line drive
- 9:06Speaker 2: Pepper and him out there's people in the first couple
- 9:08Speaker 2: of rows. Be ready because it's gonna hurt.
- 9:10Speaker 3: You if it came at you.
- 9:11Speaker 2: He just looked like people with Dolphine's lung instead of
- 9:14Speaker 2: a guy trying to pain to who he was with
- 9:16Speaker 2: a cearchain top.
- 9:17Speaker 3: So I know why people were scared.
- 9:20Speaker 2: And the Homarn Derby kind of does that and we've
- 9:22Speaker 2: seen it happen the folks, but watching Jordan's didn't really
- 9:27Speaker 2: scare me at all.
- 9:29Speaker 1: And also kudos to kt the cards bullpen catcher through
- 9:33Speaker 1: the pool holes now throws to Walker that my friend
- 9:36Speaker 1: is a legacy. You know what. There are lots of
- 9:38Speaker 1: things going on right now that you might want to
- 9:41Speaker 1: see this summer. There's concerts, right there's Major League Baseball,
- 9:45Speaker 1: all kinds of sporting events. And that's when our good
- 9:49Speaker 1: friends at seat geek come into the picture. Nailed it.
- 9:55Speaker 1: Sea Geek has seventy thousand events listed. Okay, you can
- 9:59Speaker 1: get your festivals. Whatever it is, you name it, they've
- 10:03Speaker 1: got it, and they have a deal for you. We
- 10:05Speaker 1: have a deal for you. Go to see geek enter

- 10:17Speaker 1: League Baseball. Every purchase is guaranteed. Thank you, See Geek.
- 10:23Speaker 1: All right, let's talk about extensions.
- 10:25Speaker 2: Right.
- 10:26Speaker 1: We talked about JJ. We're both on board, and I
- 10:30Speaker 1: just wonder JJ was the right move. But you got
- 10:33Speaker 1: other guys that you think deserve extensions to, mostly because
- 10:38Speaker 1: you believe they will be good players today, tomorrow and
- 10:41Speaker 1: into the future. And you're building for the future. Guy
- 10:45Speaker 1: like Walker, I think is proving a lot now. They
- 10:48Speaker 1: don't have to do that now. But I've heard other
- 10:49Speaker 1: people media on social media say, you know, maybe not
- 10:54Speaker 1: Mason when you know they be drafted a short stuff.
- 10:57Speaker 1: I don't know where you are. I'd like to see
- 10:59Speaker 1: Mason one extended. Now, you're a guy that's in the
- 11:02Speaker 1: clubhouse all the time, you get to look around. You
- 11:05Speaker 1: see who the leaders are. If you're in there, you
- 11:07Speaker 1: know Mason is one of the leaders in there. Secondly,
- 11:10Speaker 1: gold Glove to me, I think he's still just scratching
- 11:13Speaker 1: the surface of what he can be offensively. Deals with
- 11:17Speaker 1: some back issues and knee issues. I get that. So
- 11:20Speaker 1: if there are red flags, maybe those are them. But
- 11:24Speaker 1: as a as a Cardinal fan, which I am, I
- 11:27Speaker 1: want to see JJ and win up the middle together
- 11:31Speaker 1: for years to come. What say you?
- 11:34Speaker 3: Oh? Absolutely?
- 11:36Speaker 4: There was just graphics that flashed on the screen today
- 11:38Speaker 4: reminding everybody that that's been the best sort of stops
- 11:41Speaker 4: that can pay and all of baseball, the most double
- 11:45Speaker 4: plays of any Uh.
- 11:48Speaker 3: You know, Mason, he's a better offensive.
- 11:50Speaker 2: Player than and I think an ideal way for the
- 11:54Speaker 2: rest of the lineup eventually is going to be destructed
- 11:57Speaker 2: where he doesn't have to be a guy. He doesn't
- 12:00Speaker 2: have to be a guy that people were looking at
- 12:02Speaker 2: his office. He can hit him eight or ninth and
- 12:06Speaker 2: then just kind of forget about it.
- 12:07Speaker 3: Because he's gonna pay.
- 12:08Speaker 1: Well.
- 12:08Speaker 2: Look, he's gonna be illumer and he's gonna do something
- 12:11Speaker 2: each night at shortstop that makes you work throwing up.
- 12:15Speaker 3: And so I'm absolutely in on Amazon, but you know numbers,
- 12:19Speaker 3: what does that look like? Who knows right now? And
- 12:22Speaker 3: maybe you can get a deal on.
- 12:23Speaker 2: It right now of age, and you know, as a
- 12:26Speaker 2: quite broken out the way, still cold, but the leather
- 12:30Speaker 2: hoole when duo.
- 12:32Speaker 3: Seems like something spectful that you want to keep together.
- 12:35Speaker 3: So I would definitely be.
- 12:38Speaker 1: Mark my words about Mason when we will see better
- 12:41Speaker 1: offense from that guy. First off, you know how much
- 12:45Speaker 1: he wants to be that guy at short stuff and
- 12:48Speaker 1: he works his tail up. I don't know how, you know,
- 12:52Speaker 1: sometimes he gets pull heavy and then he doesn't look
- 12:55Speaker 1: there's some things he needs to work on. But knowing
- 12:58Speaker 1: that guy and seeing what he does, if I think
- 13:01Speaker 1: people that look at him as yeah, we got a
- 13:03Speaker 1: really good defensive shortstop might be just seeing part of
- 13:07Speaker 1: the equation. I'm a big fanily that guy, all right.
- 13:10Speaker 1: Do you think there's a danger though when you when
- 13:13Speaker 1: you extend one guy and they're a team like you
- 13:16Speaker 1: know that too from being they are a group, they're
- 13:18Speaker 1: tight knit, they lean on each other. Is there a
- 13:22Speaker 1: danger of rocking the boat a little when this guy
- 13:25Speaker 1: gets an extension? This guy deserves one, but this guy
- 13:28Speaker 1: isn't getting one.
- 13:31Speaker 3: Very interesting.
- 13:33Speaker 2: You know everybody showed up to JJ signing in his presstopper,
- 13:37Speaker 2: that everybody filed in the room, the whole team. They're
- 13:40Speaker 2: so close, good vibes are at an old time hide.
- 13:44Speaker 2: Everybody's yelling together. You know, everybody wants the money and
- 13:48Speaker 2: it's spectually the guys that are Jordan Walker of Ann Herrera,
- 13:53Speaker 2: I think are both the two n candidates for an extension.
- 13:57Speaker 3: Uh, you know the Jordan Walker at all.
- 14:01Speaker 2: We've seen what it looks like when it's not really
- 14:04Speaker 2: only had a alps when it is great. Is that
- 14:08Speaker 2: enough to make you dive fully in? I think this
- 14:11Speaker 2: is more or less to this guy is.
- 14:13Speaker 3: Than what we saw last year sport. But I also
- 14:16Speaker 3: get it from a front off of game he might
- 14:18Speaker 3: be a little weary.
- 14:20Speaker 2: So how it was at the time, like they did
- 14:24Speaker 2: with JJ though his value is only gonna go up.
- 14:27Speaker 3: And there's a very good chance Jordan's value is going
- 14:30Speaker 3: to go up.
- 14:31Speaker 2: So why not get in on the ground floor of
- 14:32Speaker 2: a guy you already planned on building this all around
- 14:36Speaker 2: and get him for a better price than you're gonna
- 14:39Speaker 2: get him in a couple of years when maybe you've
- 14:41Speaker 2: made him mad by that point by not showing that
- 14:43Speaker 2: you believe in him early. And he's like, well, I
- 14:47Speaker 2: can find my own way in.
- 14:49Speaker 3: A couple of years, and I'm agreed.
- 14:50Speaker 2: So I think it makes a lot of sense the Cardinals,
- 14:53Speaker 2: Not that I'm in their finance or anything, but it's
- 14:55Speaker 2: not like they broke Frank a whole lot of guys lately,
- 14:58Speaker 2: and the guys they did, they kicked out and hopefully
- 15:01Speaker 2: had other two pick up those contacts. So hopefully there's
- 15:05Speaker 2: money in the coffer for some of these young guys
- 15:07Speaker 2: that you start to commit to as you kind of build.
- 15:11Speaker 3: Beyond now.
- 15:14Speaker 1: Walker just put a million dollars in his pocket from
- 15:17Speaker 1: running the home run derby, so he's got a little
- 15:20Speaker 1: spending money to take care of things for now. But
- 15:23Speaker 1: I wonder too, the potential for a labor dispute. How
- 15:28Speaker 1: that will impact if you're a young player and this
- 15:31Speaker 1: is there and you like the organization. Like take Jordan
- 15:34Speaker 1: Walker for example, they stuck with them. They try to
- 15:37Speaker 1: help him get to where he should be. Now he's there,
- 15:42Speaker 1: is now the time where a player might be more
- 15:45Speaker 1: eager to grab the bag, as the kids say, when
- 15:49Speaker 1: you know that there could be this thing, they could
- 15:52Speaker 1: have a real negative impact on teams going after, you know,
- 15:56Speaker 1: going beyond whatever workstopage potentially there to be.
- 16:01Speaker 3: That's a great point, and I'm sure all the agents
- 16:04Speaker 3: are thinking about that right now.
- 16:06Speaker 2: They're talking to their players on a daily basis. Who
- 16:09Speaker 2: knows what next year is going to look like.
- 16:11Speaker 3: Somebody's reaching out right now saying we want to give
- 16:14Speaker 3: you this money today. That sounds more apetizing, no question.
- 16:21Speaker 1: All right, we're going to take a quick break.
- 16:23Speaker 2: Here.
- 16:23Speaker 1: You are watching Cardinal Territory on the Foul Territory Network.

- 17:28Speaker 1: Our guest is Corey Miller from a Channel five KSDK
- 17:32Speaker 1: sports reporter there does a fine job and he's all
- 17:35Speaker 1: suited up. We appreciate that. Now the Cardinals, now with
- 17:38Speaker 1: today's loss, back to five games over five hundred. I
- 17:42Speaker 1: guess I don't know why some people say you got
- 17:45Speaker 1: to be at ten games if you have to be
- 17:48Speaker 1: considered a contender. I think that's nonsense. So my question
- 17:52Speaker 1: to you is Heimas said this, You've interviewed him, I've
- 17:55Speaker 1: interviewed him. The thing that he stood at what stood
- 17:58Speaker 1: out to me is he's when I asked him about, Hey,
- 18:00Speaker 1: if you guys are this good and you're at the
- 18:03Speaker 1: trade deadline, what do you do when he said there's
- 18:06Speaker 1: ways to be true to our long range plans. While
- 18:11Speaker 1: also maybe he's you know, he wasn't clear. Maybe adding
- 18:15Speaker 1: pieces you need by being creative could be bullpen arms
- 18:19Speaker 1: could be Guys, you get that you have a little
- 18:22Speaker 1: control over, but you have to be creative. My question
- 18:25Speaker 1: to you is, if the Cardinals keep playing like this,
- 18:29Speaker 1: keep inspiring the fan base, does the organization owe it
- 18:36Speaker 1: to the fans and to the players as a reward
- 18:41Speaker 1: for for the players doing what they're doing and for
- 18:43Speaker 1: the fans by jumping back on board and showing a
- 18:47Speaker 1: little patience with the rebuild.
- 18:51Speaker 2: You can't kill this. That means a whole bunch of differences.
- 18:58Speaker 2: I'm as bull vocal us, uh got a great creative Probably.
- 19:04Speaker 3: Where makes sense to creative you guys, Romero, does the
- 19:08Speaker 3: bay you look at kind of the makeup of what
- 19:13Speaker 3: the field is going.
- 19:14Speaker 2: To be and I think it comes down to that
- 19:16Speaker 2: control back. The Cardinals are not going to acquire anybody at.
- 19:20Speaker 3: The dead bone. I don't think that it's not going
- 19:23Speaker 3: to be a partner for the next like three years.
- 19:26Speaker 3: That's how I was.
- 19:27Speaker 2: I don't want to fire anybody that's not gonna be
- 19:30Speaker 2: with if I look three years down there, that's what for.
- 19:35Speaker 2: So you can do that and you'll find somebody who's
- 19:37Speaker 2: a major league ready right now that you're controllable with.
- 19:41Speaker 2: Maybe that's starting picture, just Tony, here you go. We'll
- 19:45Speaker 2: make it up happy for everybody. And I think they're
- 19:48Speaker 2: really interacting trade away from a like starting picture or
- 19:54Speaker 2: left fielder bar. You got guys in the minors who
- 19:58Speaker 2: fans are also flamoring. Could baby slide right in provide,
- 20:03Speaker 2: but those guys.
- 20:04Speaker 3: Already providing any Quinn Matthews in the rotation or Josh
- 20:07Speaker 3: Lebias in the outfit everybody.
- 20:10Speaker 2: So there's ways to get creative with this, but I
- 20:14Speaker 2: think you have to capitalize on assets that you can
- 20:18Speaker 2: pack in and get or people that they're not part
- 20:22Speaker 2: of your long goal.
- 20:25Speaker 1: I'm with you. Last thing before we let you go.
- 20:27Speaker 1: What is their biggest need because to me, you got bullpen,
- 20:32Speaker 1: which it's not where you want it to be. If
- 20:34Speaker 1: you're even hoping, like I, if you have a chance
- 20:37Speaker 1: to climb through that window of opportunity. You know, I'm
- 20:40Speaker 1: not saying if you get in you have to win
- 20:42Speaker 1: the World Series. No one knows that they're going to
- 20:44Speaker 1: win the World Series. Once they're in the postseason. I
- 20:47Speaker 1: would like to see them make an effort by adding
- 20:50Speaker 1: some pieces. But let's face it, you kind of figure
- 20:53Speaker 1: they need a starting pitcher, maybe some bullpen out, which
- 20:56Speaker 1: is the biggest need in your view.
- 20:59Speaker 2: Yeah, there to win, they got to find some more
- 21:01Speaker 2: stability in that, uh than three.
- 21:04Speaker 3: Guys that kind of comfortable right now.
- 21:07Speaker 2: They want to if they want to win, they got
- 21:09Speaker 2: to figure out the bullpen. Somebody's gonna have to step up,
- 21:13Speaker 2: and we trade a couple of those pieces away, then
- 21:16Speaker 2: it really gets tough.
- 21:17Speaker 1: Uh.
- 21:18Speaker 2: Who you're bringing up to really start e touch so thin,
- 21:21Speaker 2: so you can only do so much with the bullpen
- 21:24Speaker 2: if you want to compete, it would be nice to
- 21:26Speaker 2: get a starter who you have to soroleover and more
- 21:30Speaker 2: of a strikeout guy. I would like to see because
- 21:32Speaker 2: a lot of their guys done really well. This here,
- 21:34Speaker 2: aren't exactly uh strike out, you know, missing barrels kind
- 21:38Speaker 2: of guy, but done well the guy. So the bullpen
- 21:45Speaker 2: is going to be a point of catch I take
- 21:47Speaker 2: for the rest of the season, no matter what they
- 21:49Speaker 2: do with the deadline.
- 21:52Speaker 1: I think he is a really smart guy and if
- 21:55Speaker 1: there's a way to do it, him is a guy
- 21:57Speaker 1: who can figure it out. Corey did a great job.
- 22:01Speaker 1: Thank you for coming on Cardinal Territory. We appreciate it.
- 22:05Speaker 1: Thank you for having me and always a pleasure talking
- 22:09Speaker 1: with you. And that's going to do it for this
- 22:10Speaker 1: edition of Cardinal Territory. We'll see you for the next episode.
- 22:14Speaker 1: Hopefully that one won't suck.
