- 0:31welcome to the MonDay Edge edition of the show.
- 0:37Glad you could join us. As always, it's great to be with
- 0:42you and before we get started with the show, ladies and
- 0:48gentlemen, I do want to just take a moment to thank everyone
- 0:53who tuned in for the 15th anniversary.
- 0:58Special Alon, Saturday. There were 60 of you that
- 1:04watched live on Rumble and then I just checked the stats.
- 1:12before, hitting the record button and At the time of this
- 1:19recording there are over 460 views on the rumble video on the
- 1:29replay. In less than 40 hours.
- 1:35Just on that one video alone. Plus the current do.
- 1:40A little interview has like 180. views and then you know the
- 1:52podcast I did with both Macs and on the economy and The Craig
- 2:00Mansfield interviewed, I did on the train derailments.
- 2:04Those have also gotten multiple views in the hundreds as well.
- 2:11point being ladies and gentlemen, is I think we have
- 2:17finally started to get our mojo back.
- 2:22In regards to this show, people have said that.
- 2:29Four people said to me initially after I got banned off YouTube,
- 2:34well, your show is done, unless you want to make another YouTube
- 2:38channel because no one's going to go to Odyssey or any or
- 2:43rumble or any of these alternative platforms to to
- 2:46Niche. No one's going to watch you.
- 2:50And yet we have greater visibility over on Rumble.
- 2:57And Saturday night, Saturday night show which granted was a
- 3:04special occasion. But even so that was a landmark
- 3:08show. Not only because it was the 15
- 3:11year anniversary of when I started podcasting but also
- 3:14because that is one of the most viewed you know, video podcasts
- 3:22that I've done. Total in my entire career.
- 3:30And it's only two days old, nearly 500 views in less than
- 3:39two days. It's really unbelievable when
- 3:42you think about it and then the the podcast which just got
- 3:50uploaded to Spotify and apple podcast, like early this
- 3:54morning, that podcast is less than 24 hours old in it already
- 4:00has something like 40 downloads and lessons. so, the momentum is
- 4:09huge and All the naysayers out there who said that, you know,
- 4:17ones, I lost my YouTube channel. The, you know, the show is going
- 4:22to be done for Well, we're not done yet and not just that but
- 4:28more people are seeing the video on run ball. then on YouTube,
- 4:36and these people aren't even subbed necessarily we only have
- 4:40like 35 subscribers on Rumble, And yet we have more visibility
- 4:46on Rumble then with the 800 subscribers that we had on
- 4:53YouTube. So really quite amazing, too.
- 5:00You know, be able to share that with you.
- 5:04And I am truly humbled and honored to be able to do so.
- 5:08And I also want to take a moment to say, you know, big thank you
- 5:14to all of our guests, who came on Max, shmuly Apex gamma, you
- 5:23know, all of whom took time out of their Saturday evening.
- 5:26To, you know, come help celebrate my show.
- 5:30And very special thank you to genius anus who donated native
- 5:36$30 worth of PlayStation, you know, Store gift credit to me
- 5:41that was very generous and then also to mr.
- 5:45Vicious Vickers the big bad coin.
- 5:48Merchants elf who donated $90? To the show.
- 5:57And I was able to read that on air because I was using my phone
- 6:06as my webcam as I usually do. And my PayPal account is tied to
- 6:13my phone, at least a notification part of it.
- 6:16So I wasn't, I was not able to see, you know, the donation that
- 6:21mr. Vickers made but I I want to
- 6:24acknowledge it now ninety dollars, rolling means a lot to
- 6:29me, sir. And, you know, if you are
- 6:33listening to this, thank you. Although more than that the fact
- 6:38you are friend of the show means You know, a lot more to me in
- 6:45and of itself than any single, you know, donation or monetary
- 6:50transaction. That's just an added bonus.
- 6:56In my book. So like I said, folks, it was a
- 7:01great show. The archive is up on Rumble
- 7:07Odyssey and it's also available on the video version of spotify.
- 7:14And then the audio podcast is a little on Apple podcasts Amazon.
- 7:20Wherever you listen to podcasts and if you didn't have a chance
- 7:24to wasn't to, I highly recommend you do.
- 7:27So I did. Dad chapter markers in.
- 7:31So the two segments of the show are indexed in case you don't
- 7:35want to listen to the whole for our celebration but it was a lot
- 7:40of fun to do that show. And I just really wanted to
- 7:44thank everyone who participated So, thank you.
- 7:50All right. Now, I didn't get a chance to
- 7:55cover this last week because it didn't have it until Friday.
- 8:02But I figured, I would cover this for you today.
- 8:05So, one of the latest news items, you know, that's been
- 8:12talked a lot is, are these Congressional hearings over Tick
- 8:18Tock in the fact that Tick Tock is basically, you know, sir
- 8:24surveying, or they have surveillance, they're spying on
- 8:28American citizens. Through their app and data
- 8:32mining it. Not just that but they are
- 8:35manipulating data to basically spread propaganda to the
- 8:42Americans and weaponized propaganda against us.
- 8:48So make no mistake folks, we are now in a electronic cold war
- 8:58with China. and, I have a feeling that that cold war if
- 9:05we're not careful. may I ask like now the CEO of tick-tock
- 9:12actual went before Congress on Friday and You know, was
- 9:21basically forced to admit this under oath and Sean Hannity
- 9:27cover this on Friday on his show.
- 9:30I'm not going to play the whole segment.
- 9:32I by will play you a clip of this because I do think it is
- 9:38relevant. What this?
- 9:41You know, guy is saying, you know, admitting that Tik-Tok is
- 9:46spying on American citizens. So this is a Hannah be covering
- 9:53the Congressional hearings on Tick-Tock.
- 9:57This was on Friday show roll the clip.
- 10:12Right now, is Biden's weakness on the world stage has never
- 10:19been more apparent, but Republican leaders.
- 10:21Thankfully are pushing back against our adversaries.
- 10:24Now. Yesterday South Dakota, governor
- 10:26Kristi noem signed a bill Banning China and other quote
- 10:30evil, foreign governments from State contracts.
- 10:33And today, Tick-Tock Tick-Tock CEO was grilled by lawmakers on
- 10:38Capitol Hill over concerns. That the social media company is
- 10:42spying on Americans, take a look.
- 10:45Do you disagree with FBI director, Ray and NSA director
- 10:48and cassone. When they said that the CCP
- 10:52could have the capability to manipulate data and send it to
- 10:55the United States. Do you disagree with their
- 10:57statement? They statements has could.
- 11:00So, do you disagree with that? No, I don't disagree.
- 11:03That. Okay has white dance spied on
- 11:06American citizens. I don't think the spying is the
- 11:09right way to describe it. All right, so that is
- 11:20essentially, you know, the two big takeaways from the hearing
- 11:25there. The CEO of tick-tock basically
- 11:28admitted that Tick-Tock is being used to spy on American
- 11:34citizens. And more than that send, you
- 11:40know, anti-American weaponized propaganda to our kids.
- 11:45And this isn't some Alex Jones conspiracy theory.
- 11:48Light isn't gentlemen, this is on the record in front of
- 11:53Congress, The Tick-Tock CEO is admitting doing this.
- 12:00And the reason why I bring this up ladies and gentlemen is
- 12:04there's not a whole lot to talk about in regards to this.
- 12:08But one thing that is notable is this is the first instance in
- 12:14quite a long time. where, Both Republicans and Democrats in
- 12:24Congress. Are actually an agreement.
- 12:28That Tik-Tok is a threat to National Security.
- 12:37I mean, plain as day, that's what it is.
- 12:41You know, going on they've basically admitted to this and
- 12:47now there are bipartisan bills on the senate floor to perhaps
- 12:54band tick-tock. you know, from the US, Now.
- 13:04You know, ironically some of the Libertarians out there, the, the
- 13:11and cap must free market. People are basically saying that
- 13:17well, well, Sam, this is bad because the government would
- 13:26basically be, you know, outline Tick-Tock from being able to
- 13:31participate in the free market. Of business.
- 13:35And this sets, a dangerous precedent for, you know, the
- 13:39government to be able to regulate tech companies and
- 13:44interfere with business practices practices in general.
- 13:50and my response to, this is basically that the free market,
- 13:58you know, argument does not apply here in regards to tick
- 14:02tock and it doesn't apply folks because Tick Tock in its
- 14:11Company. B, dance are centrally owned by
- 14:14the Chinese Communist Party the CCP as are, you know, All
- 14:21businesses. Essentially in China, the
- 14:25Chinese government has direct influence over all businesses in
- 14:30China, you know not just in the sense they you know give him
- 14:36money on occasion but you know how these businesses are run.
- 14:41You know products are going to sell everything from the top on
- 14:46down. so, You know, that's that's why that's why it's so
- 14:55hard to get. Wha wait Huawei phones here in
- 15:00the US to like you barely ever see him because The US
- 15:06government banned. Well wave phones from being
- 15:10distributed here because of, you know, of concerns of serious
- 15:16legitimate concerns that these smartphones are basically just
- 15:20Chinese smart. We're in same with Tick-Tock,
- 15:25right? Now.
- 15:30President Trump like 2 years ago was Basically saying the same
- 15:38thing about Tick Tock in general, that Tick Tock was
- 15:43being used as a Chinese Communist Party propaganda arm
- 15:50to spread fear and propaganda amongst Americans.
- 15:55Particularly, you know, American Youth who are susceptible to
- 15:58this type of indoctrination and he was concerned about it and
- 16:05You know, unfortunately, he didn't he didn't got much to do
- 16:10about it because he was caught in the midst of all these other
- 16:13Witch, Trials, and whatnot, you know, but credit, where credit
- 16:19is due Joe Biden. Despite all the things that I
- 16:26may despise about the current like it under the White House,
- 16:32Joe Biden, President, Biden. Has seemed to recognize that
- 16:39China is a dangerous threat and is considering passing multiple
- 16:45bills. Either Banning or heavily
- 16:49regulating to talk in the US. Now, do I actually think
- 16:57anything will come of Congress? Doing anything?
- 17:02You know, regards Tick-Tock and honestly, folks the answer to
- 17:07that is that I have no idea. It is honestly hard to tell
- 17:15because given all the hearings that Congress has had over the
- 17:24past few years, over Facebook and YouTube and Twitter and all
- 17:30that regarding, you know, censorship and social media
- 17:35behavior and all that, right? Congress has said that they were
- 17:38going to, you know, investigate further into Twitter's activity,
- 17:44right? And whatnot, back in 2017,
- 17:47right? And yet they did nothing.
- 17:51Writing the censorship issue on Twitter, and they've done
- 17:54nothing regarding Facebook or YouTube, you know, it's actually
- 18:00seem to cause more problems in some ways.
- 18:04When the, when the government grills Facebook, because
- 18:10Facebook intern just makes their lives like more Draconian and
- 18:15more, You know, anti-free speech.
- 18:20So you know the only the only reason why Twitter is so good is
- 18:24because bilan stepped in and you know basically made it as for
- 18:30you as much of a free speech platform as you're going to get
- 18:36with it in Reasonable Doubt. and, you know, but that was Elon
- 18:44musk's doing that. Once he bought Twitter that was
- 18:48not, you know, because the government made him.
- 18:53Do so anything like that, heated up his own volition.
- 18:57Right? So Congress when it comes to
- 19:02actually like stopping big Tech issues, they're not that great
- 19:07about about ladies and gentlemen.
- 19:09And so before anyone gets, you know, like really excited.
- 19:13Like yeah, the CCP is gonna, you know, get banned from the US
- 19:18because of tick tock just hold your horses because it may take
- 19:24while and at the end of the day, cause Congress might not even do
- 19:28anything about it. So that is one of the those
- 19:33situations folks where we will, you know, approach it from a
- 19:38taken. See, you know, from like a
- 19:40wait-and-see circumstance and take things day by day and you
- 19:46know, at some point we may have a guest on to discuss this issue
- 19:50and you know, we keeping an eye on it for you all.
- 19:58So, that's that, I didn't want to cover that for you guys
- 20:03today, since that was a relevant news topic. and then the next
- 20:11Topic at hand also has to deal with technology.
- 20:18This in fact has to do with the internet archive. in a in a
- 20:28lawsuit that they lost against these big publishing companies,
- 20:34Now, some of you may have heard about this because it happened
- 20:38on Thursday. And I heard about it but it
- 20:44didn't get much press coverage and only got a little bit.
- 20:49And this has more to do also with like free speech and woke
- 20:54censorship and whatnot. But anyway, let's continue on.
- 20:59So let me see here. All right, folks.
- 21:08So headline from reason magazine or reason.com, rather.
- 21:17Internet, archive, loses the lawsuit.
- 21:20Over National Emergency Library will append appeal.
- 21:27Why sensitivity readers. Rewrite Agatha Christie.
- 21:35A. Little Free Library battle and
- 21:40much more. So this has to do with corporate
- 21:43censorship, right? And things going well, So, let's
- 21:51continue. Okay.
- 21:55As Americans coped with lockdowns and isolation in the
- 21:59early days of the covid-19, pandemic, the internet archive,
- 22:04a platform devoted to preserving digital history.
- 22:12Hit on a novel way to help people.
- 22:14Stay sane. The company temporarily lined
- 22:18out free digital copies of books calling the service.
- 22:21The national emergency emergency Library the service operated
- 22:28from March 24th through mid June 2020, the four biggest US
- 22:36Publishers has shed but group harpercollins, John, John Wiley
- 22:43& Sons in penguin Random House. Sued calling this massive
- 22:49copyright infringement. The company pointed to one
- 22:58hundred and twenty seven bucks, digitized and Loans out and
- 23:05loaned out. As part of the National
- 23:07Emergency Library, declaring that they owned the rights of
- 23:12them and had not granted, the inter now archived for mission
- 23:16to lend them. The internet archive.
- 23:21Claimed fair use is a Doctrine Allah that allows unlicensed use
- 23:28of copyrighted, Works in circumcised in certain in
- 23:32certain circumstances such as when it has been used as part of
- 23:36criticism, commentary news reporting or research purposes.
- 23:42On Friday, a federal court side of with the publishers.
- 23:49The internet archives fair. Use defense rests on the notion
- 23:53that lawfully acquiring a copyrighted print book entitled,
- 23:57the recipient to make an unauthorized copy and distribute
- 24:00it in place of the book so long as it does not simultaneously
- 24:05Lambda print so I don't think any see why I'm the print book.
- 24:09Wrote Judge John see coach all of the US District Court for the
- 24:15southern district. Of New York in his opinion.
- 24:20But no case or legal principle is supports that notion every
- 24:25thority points the other direction.
- 24:30We are thrilled by the decision in the internet archive, open
- 24:34Library lawsuit, as we have long argued scanning and lending
- 24:38books without permission or compensation is not very use.
- 24:43It is theft and it devalues. The author's works.
- 24:48The authors gold tweeted, And, you know, I'm gonna come back to
- 24:56that, you know, part here in just a sec.
- 25:02Oops. But It is interesting. so, the
- 25:12internet archive says, it will appeal coat, olds decision,
- 25:16calling it calling it a blow, to all libraries in the
- 25:20communities, we serve libraries are more than The customer
- 25:27service departments for corporate database.
- 25:29Products internet archive. Founder Brewster kahle said in a
- 25:35blog post for democracy to survive in a for democracy to
- 25:43thrive at global scale. Excuse me, libraries must
- 25:47continue to sustain their historic role in society owning
- 25:52preserving and whining bucks. you know, and then and then
- 26:01here, this is a different article, but this secondary
- 26:08article here on reason magazine talks how Harper Harper Collins.
- 26:19Has basically rewrote and made edits to the Agatha Christie
- 26:26book series. You know, over quote-unquote
- 26:33offensive language. so they have essentially Rewritten, the books
- 26:39and Therefore, censored the original works.
- 26:46Now. Folks, the internet archive. for
- 26:53those of you don't know is exactly what you know, it says,
- 26:58at the beginning of the article, the internet are got, I've
- 27:09basically allows for people to upload ebooks videos documents.
- 27:20Etc, etc for people to download and use and consume.
- 27:28You know, it is essentially basically what it sounds like an
- 27:32archive of content on the internet. so, for example, you
- 27:44know, one one thing that has been pretty You know, has all
- 27:52these book publishers have been rewriting books or editing the
- 27:59books from their original publication and altering them to
- 28:04be more content. Sensitive in this.
- 28:08Whoa cage, ladies and gentlemen, right?
- 28:11so, for example, I tweeted about this a month ago because the Ian
- 28:20Fleming is stay. Basically coat caved to the woke
- 28:28progressives. and, Decided to higher sensitivity, readers to
- 28:36basically edit the James Bond books and edit the language for,
- 28:43you know, more sensible and modern times, right?
- 28:49Now, you could argue as I have. The altering the James on books
- 28:57in that way. Fundamentally all, you know,
- 29:01Alters the tone and therefore, the overall, you know, story of
- 29:08the James Bond novels, you know, they were written by Ian Fleming
- 29:14who was and who was in Navy intelligence officer.
- 29:18Who much like James Bond drank and smoked.
- 29:23And you know was a womanizer and yes, you know he did say Some
- 29:33may be racially tense thing, not necessarily not like in an
- 29:36insulting way, but this was, you know, WWII or post World War
- 29:43Two. And the way people spoke was way
- 29:46different back then. And so a lot of the terminology
- 29:50the Iain, flooding and Agatha Christie. you know, in all of
- 29:58these other groups, a lot of the terminology that they've used
- 30:02over the years You know, it's way different than what we use
- 30:10today and they wrote they wrote their books in a certain time.
- 30:16And so for these new Publishers to suddenly you know just
- 30:20rewrite the books to sue modern day.
- 30:26You know since abilities is a form of censorship. and so
- 30:30people have uploading, you know, copies of the original James
- 30:36Bond books to be in an archive and You know, there have been
- 30:42other instances to where you know, most famously George
- 30:49Lucas. You know, he he has not Made the
- 30:57original theatrical releases available of Star Wars available
- 31:03digitally ever. He's only ever allowed for the
- 31:09special edition remastered editions to be distributed
- 31:13digitally. And so, you know, hobbyist film
- 31:17archive is have basically done Restorations of the original
- 31:25theatrical. Or release of the Star Wars
- 31:28films and put them out on internet archive.
- 31:33Now, one could argue that, that is copyright infringement
- 31:39because it's Lucas is property, and he didn't give permission to
- 31:43distribute that, but my argument would be and this applies for a
- 31:49lot of things, like, you know, television be movies, or, you
- 31:53know, are made for television, be movies from, or something
- 31:57like that, right? Lucas is not Distributing.
- 32:02The original theatrical films anymore, right?
- 32:07So it is up to the fans, you know, to do so and to Archive
- 32:14that material and to You know, preserve that more or less.
- 32:26And they're not stealing anything from Lucas by doing
- 32:30that because, you know, Lucas is no longer making money on the
- 32:35theatrical versions and neither is Disney.
- 32:42You know, neither are these fans that have done the remastered.
- 32:46They're not, you know, making any money off of The, you know,
- 32:50the edit summary Masters that they've done for the original
- 32:55theatrical versions so you know, no one, no one is really harming
- 33:01anyone and it's not really damaging.
- 33:09You know anyone's work. You know, another example could
- 33:13be when Playboy magazine went out of print, a few years ago,
- 33:18fans started to upload, you know, digital copies of you
- 33:25know, Playboy issues to the internet archive and same
- 33:30principle applies. You know, Playboy has not done
- 33:37anything with their, you know, Hugh Hefner era material.
- 33:44In fact, they've tried to stay, you know, kind of stayed away
- 33:48from that and take in to a different direction of more woke
- 33:54traction. So it is up to the hobbyist and
- 33:58the collectors to Archive that and preserve that for You know,
- 34:03people in the future who are student that you know, and it is
- 34:07up to and that is what the internet archive has done, you
- 34:13no other websites like it. So this hole You know, this
- 34:18whole notion of, you know, the internet archive being bad or
- 34:24taunting being bad in, and of itself is kind of Miss of of a
- 34:29misnomer. No, because Torrenting itself
- 34:35isn't necessarily bad. It's just a method to You Know
- 34:38download files and whatnot but piracy You know, which is
- 34:43directly like stealing profits. From.
- 34:49You know. Commies and filmmakers when they
- 34:52could still stand to benefit from that material.
- 34:56That is disingenuous. And that is, you know,
- 35:01dangerous. But you know, one of the things
- 35:04that, you know, Steve Jobs, most notably recognized and 2000's
- 35:10was piracy was happening, you know, online, because these
- 35:15media companies were not making their media digitally access
- 35:18mobile. You know, to their fans into
- 35:22their consumers. So therefore they had to go you
- 35:26know to places like The Pirate Bay and the LimeWire, you know,
- 35:31an internet archive back in the day because these play, you
- 35:37know, these website, these companies were not you know
- 35:41providing digital content to their you know online customers.
- 35:47you know, now that has changed for the most part, but there are
- 35:52some materials out there and some movies that, you know,
- 35:57either because the studio went out of business or Because the
- 36:03current Studios the last rites there are, there are movies out
- 36:06there that are not available, you know, through the
- 36:11distributor digital or the wise nowadays on minute net.
- 36:17And so the in an archive is a, you know, is a good place for
- 36:24these and I even have a few mile podcasts up on, then an archive,
- 36:30I think. So.
- 36:33And this instance, I'd do side with the folks at the internet
- 36:38archive. And, you know, I do indeed think
- 36:41it's a very interesting subject in Yeah.
