Transcript
- 0:00We will cover chapter 10 of the book of Daniel today.
- 0:04Really, 11 and 12 go together with this chapter, but it'll be
- 0:08way too long and Chapter 11 is way too complicated to cover in
- 0:13this podcast. So we will start with chapter 10
- 0:17and only do that for this one. Dear Lord, please be with us as
- 0:20we read through this chapter and please give us insight through
- 0:25the Holy Spirit and understanding of what we read.
- 0:29We ask this in Jesus name, Amen. In the third year of Cyrus, King
- 0:35of Persia, a revelation was given to Daniel who is called
- 0:40Beltachezar. It's message was true and it
- 0:45concerned a Great War. The understanding of the message
- 0:49came to him in a vision. So Daniel is now this is Cyrus
- 0:56of Persia, whose ruling, remember initially it was the
- 1:01Babylonian and then now it's Persian rulership.
- 1:05And this is the third year of Cyrus, king of Persia that he
- 1:08has this vision. So verse 2, at that time I,
- 1:13Daniel mourned for three weeks. I ate no choice food, no meat or
- 1:20wine touched my lips. I used no lotions at all until
- 1:25the three weeks were over. On the 24th day of the first
- 1:30month, and I'll pause here because it's not really
- 1:34significant, but the first month, according to the original
- 1:39Jewish calendar, would have been in the springtime, around March
- 1:44usually. So on the 24th day of the first
- 1:49month, I was standing on the Bank of the great river, the
- 1:53Tigris. I looked up and there before me
- 1:56was a man dressed in linen with a belt of fine gold from upez
- 2:02around his waist. His body was like Topaz, his
- 2:06face like lightning, his eyes like flaming torches, his arms
- 2:13and legs like the gleam of burnished bronze, and his voice
- 2:18like the sound of a multitude. Now, when I read this, there are
- 2:24so many other descriptions of Jesus that fit this category.
- 2:30And I actually, before doing this podcast, I actually read
- 2:36the questions and answers from the study Bible this time.
- 2:38And I understand that there are, you know, some people think it's
- 2:43an Angel and some people think it's Jesus.
- 2:46So the reason why I think it's Jesus is because there are
- 2:50multiple entries and you'll see multiple reasons why it sounds
- 2:56like Jesus more so than than an Angel.
- 2:59To start, most of the time when angels come, people are, I guess
- 3:06they feel the presence of something greater than what they
- 3:09are, something supernatural. And when an Angel messenger
- 3:14comes to a person and they usually like bow down right away
- 3:19because they know that it's something greater than what they
- 3:22are. And often times when it's an
- 3:24Angel messenger, the Angel will say, Oh no, no, don't do that
- 3:28because I'm a servant just like you.
- 3:31And the Angel usually, you know, it's like, don't worship me.
- 3:35I'm just a servant just like you.
- 3:37I'm just coming to give you a message, but this we'll see that
- 3:42there's no discussion about that like, oh, don't do that, you
- 3:45know, but there's just things that show and I will point out
- 3:49all the different references in the cross references in other
- 3:53parts of the Bible that really lead me to believe that it is
- 3:58Jesus. Scripture interprets Scripture.
- 4:02So let's start with the description of him.
- 4:06It does sound like in the Book of Revelation.
- 4:10So in Daniel, the way he describes he look, he looks up
- 4:14in a man's dressed in linen. Well, linen is always like is
- 4:18often the clothing. Usually it's white and is
- 4:24usually like a heavenly clothing.
- 4:27The that's what they typically are described as wearing.
- 4:32And then it says he has a belt of fine gold from UPEZ around
- 4:37his waist. And so I was curious, I was
- 4:39like, what is UPEZ or UPEZ? And it's so I just searched
- 4:45that. It's an unidentified location
- 4:47mentioned in the Old Testament, both in Jeremiah chapter 10 and
- 4:52Daniel chapter 10. It's famous for its
- 4:55exceptionally pure fine gold, possibly the same as Ofer,
- 5:03though some scholars suggest it's a term for refined gold
- 5:07itself or a region in India or Arabia serving as a symbol of
- 5:13ultimate wealth and purity in contrast to idols or worldly
- 5:19things. So it almost and let us see the
- 5:21source of fine gold. Scripture highlights Upaz as a
- 5:25source of top grade gold alongside Tarshish is a silver
- 5:31source. So this is just, you know, it
- 5:37seems like it's something like a superior form of gold and this,
- 5:43you know, wouldn't that be related to God or definitely
- 5:46from some someone heavenly, but sounds like Jesus.
- 5:53His body was like Topaz, his face like lightning, his eyes
- 5:59like flaming torches, his arms and legs like gleams of
- 6:03burnished bronze and his voice like the sound of a multitude.
- 6:09So we have description for his, his body, his eyes, his legs and
- 6:17his voice. And so elsewhere in Scripture we
- 6:20find, well, there's something that I wanted to point out first
- 6:24of all, because the reason why I say it, it's Jesus, because of
- 6:30what is stated about God in Scripture.
- 6:34So this isn't like a a vision of God because it says God is
- 6:41spirit and his worshippers must worship in the spirit and in
- 6:47truth. And that's found in John chapter
- 6:494 verse 24. This is, I guess this is like
- 6:56from, yeah, this is Jesus saying this, Jesus telling people I can
- 7:02read the whole context. This is when he's talking to the
- 7:06woman at the well and she tells him she has no husband and he
- 7:09knows all about her without her telling him anything.
- 7:13And then I'll pick up where she responds back to him.
- 7:17Sir, the woman said, I can see that you are a prophet.
- 7:20Our ancestors worshipped on this mountain, but you Jews claim
- 7:24that the place where we must worship is in Jerusalem.
- 7:29Woman, Jesus replied, Believe me, a time is coming when you
- 7:33will worship the Father, neither on this mountain nor in
- 7:39Jerusalem. You Samaritans worship what you
- 7:42don't know. We worship what we do know, for
- 7:46salvation is from the Jews. Yet a time is coming and has now
- 7:51come, when the true worshippers will worship the Father in the
- 7:56spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshippers the
- 8:02Father seeks. God is spirit and his
- 8:06worshippers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.
- 8:13So then the woman replies. The woman said, I know that
- 8:17Messiah called Christ is coming. When he comes he will explain
- 8:22everything to us. Then Jesus declared, I the one
- 8:27speaking to you, I am he. So this is another great part of
- 8:34the Bible where Jesus says I'm the Messiah.
- 8:37He replies to this woman, he reveals that he is the Messiah
- 8:40to this woman. But that's not really what we
- 8:44were here to discuss. There's so many different
- 8:47tangents you can go to once you start studying and cross
- 8:50referencing the Bible. But this whole point is about
- 8:54God is spirit. So this vision that he sees is
- 8:58not the Father. And even though Jesus hadn't
- 9:04been here on earth, we know that Jesus, well, I say he hadn't
- 9:07been on earth it the birth of Jesus to Mary had not occurred
- 9:13yet. And at this point what we're
- 9:15reading in the Bible, but Jesus was eternal.
- 9:19He was eternal with the Father and the Spirit, and I think
- 9:25there's some evidence in that when we get when we start out in
- 9:29the Bible in the book of Genesis, where it refers to God
- 9:32as Elohim, which is plural in a plural sense.
- 9:37But yes, we know that God said, you know, he's you should
- 9:41worship the one that one true God and and so, but the the
- 9:48Father, Son and spirit are connected.
- 9:52They are 1. So that's like, I think a great
- 9:55mystery that maybe we'll all understand.
- 9:58I tend to think it's like by the same Spirit, because Jesus says
- 10:03that he does exactly what he sees the father doing.
- 10:06So there's like he's not like operating on his own.
- 10:10He's doing exactly what the father.
- 10:11There's a connection and then Jesus prays before he dies on
- 10:15the cross and says that to the Father make people humanity, I
- 10:21guess one as we are one like he prays for us that that we may
- 10:27enjoy what he enjoys with the Father that that connection to
- 10:31the father and I believe that's through the spirit that we
- 10:34become one with with God. I mean, we, we share the same
- 10:38spirit when God's Spirit is living in US.
- 10:40And what that means in eternity, I don't really know, but we
- 10:45certainly would have when we receive the Holy Spirit we are.
- 10:49That's our connection to God. And let's see what the other
- 10:53thing about the voice. So he, Daniel describes the
- 10:57voice of a multitude. So other people who have had
- 11:02experiences like this said, like Ezekiel, for example, he said
- 11:07when in his vision, he said when the creatures moved, I heard the
- 11:10sound of their wings, like the roar of rushing waters, like the
- 11:17voice of the Almighty, like the tumult of an army when they
- 11:22stood, they lowered their wings. So this again is the God's voice
- 11:28sounds like rushing waters. And again it says, like in
- 11:34Ezekiel 10, it talks about the sound of the wings of the
- 11:38cherubim could be heard as far as away as the outer court, like
- 11:42the voice of God Almighty when he speaks like it's a booming
- 11:46voice, it's a very loud voice. And then in Ezekiel 43, he said,
- 11:53and I saw the glory of the God of Israel coming from the east.
- 11:59We know that's really referring to Jesus.
- 12:01His voice was like the roar of rushing waters, and the land was
- 12:07radiant with his glory. And in Revelation chapter one,
- 12:15verse 15, it says his feet were like bronze glowing in a
- 12:19furnace. That's kind of what Daniel saw
- 12:22too. He said his body was Topaz, His
- 12:24face let's see his arms and legs like the gleam of burnished
- 12:30bronze and his voice like the voice like the sound of multi of
- 12:40a multitude. And then in Revelation 4, John
- 12:46sees this. He said and after this I looked
- 12:50and there before me was a door standing open in heaven.
- 12:53And the voice I heard speaking to me like a trumpet said, come
- 12:58up here and I will show you what my must take place after this.
- 13:01I'm not sure if that's actually that I was just looking at voice
- 13:05and that was another. So anyway, it's rushing waters
- 13:11is primarily what it's described loud about.
- 13:18So let's see Revelation 110, it says on the Lord's Day, this is
- 13:25John talking. I was in in the Spirit and I
- 13:29heard behind me a loud voice like a trumpet.
- 13:34So again, it does say that God's voice is like a trumpet.
- 13:37It's like the sound of a multitude.
- 13:39That's how Daniel describes it. It's like the sound of rushing
- 13:42waters. And then.
- 13:49Yeah. So.
- 13:50So anyway, that's I guess in Job it talks about God's voice being
- 13:55like Thunder. It's because it says, do you
- 13:59have an arm like God's and can your voice Thunder like his?
- 14:06So this, this voice that Daniel heard sound like a multitude.
- 14:13It's just very, you know, I think these, these descriptions
- 14:20sound familiar. So then he says, I, Daniel was
- 14:24the only one who saw the vision. Well, when he said that, it made
- 14:28me think about Saul from the road to Damascus.
- 14:31So he describes this also. I'll finish reading what Daniel
- 14:34said. I, Daniel was the only one who
- 14:36saw the vision. Those who were with me did not
- 14:39see it, but such terror overwhelmed them that they fled
- 14:44and hid themselves. That just made me think and I
- 14:47didn't look up this first. But in the Book of Revelation,
- 14:51when the 6th seal is open, people flee into caves because
- 14:56they know that the wrath of God is coming.
- 14:59And many times when the presence of God has been felt, people
- 15:04have felt scared or intimidated because they knew they were
- 15:09sinful and they didn't want to be in the presence of God
- 15:12because sin cannot be in the presence of God because God's
- 15:18holiness will destroy the sin, which is eventually what's going
- 15:22to happen within the world. But the reaction from people
- 15:27when they sense a heavenly presence is, you know, to bow
- 15:30down or to flee and hide themselves.
- 15:32And that's exactly what it says in in the Book of Revelation
- 15:35about the 6th seal. So I was left alone, gazing at
- 15:39this great vision. I had no strength left, my face
- 15:44turned deathly pale, and I was helpless.
- 15:48Then I heard him speaking. And as I listened to him, I fell
- 15:52into a deep sleep, my face to the ground.
- 15:58So I'm going to read about what it said.
- 16:03I think there's some other verses that I missed that I
- 16:05wanted to talk about. It's about no one's seeing God.
- 16:08And that's another reason why it seems like it's Jesus, right?
- 16:12You know not the Father because it says in John chapter one
- 16:20verse 18, no one has ever seen God.
- 16:25But the one and only Son who is himself God and is in the
- 16:32closest relationship with the Father has made him known.
- 16:38And then in John chapter 646, no one has seen the Father except
- 16:42the one who is from God. Only he has seen the Father.
- 16:47And in first John chapter 4 verse 12, no one has ever seen
- 16:51God. But if we love one another, God
- 16:53lives in US and his love is made complete in US.
- 16:57So multiple times Jesus's disciple John has said no one
- 17:03has ever seen God and he wrote that in the book.
- 17:07However, this was what let's see that one no one has ever seen
- 17:13God. This is John 1.
- 17:16That's him saying that. And then in John chapter 6, this
- 17:23is actually from Jesus. So I'll read this, this whole, I
- 17:28don't know, I guess I'll read this section.
- 17:30Jesus is talking to these. He's talking to the Jews in
- 17:38this. I didn't read this in advance,
- 17:40but I'm not going to read the whole thing because it's pretty
- 17:42long. But he said, you know, he was.
- 17:50Let's see, this is all right. Let's just start here.
- 17:59John chapter 6, verse 35, let's start there because there's so
- 18:04much in here, but this is really good, this is Jesus.
- 18:07So then Jesus declared, I am the bread of life.
- 18:10Whoever comes to me will never go hungry and whoever believes
- 18:15in me will never be thirsty. That's very similar that what he
- 18:19said to the woman at the well. He said the water I give you,
- 18:23you will never be thirsty again. And she's like, where can I get
- 18:26this? So this is again showing like
- 18:29things about Jesus giving water to people.
- 18:32It's it's a different kind of water.
- 18:34It's the Holy Spirit. It's symbolic of that.
- 18:37Continuing on what he said. But as I told you, you have seen
- 18:41me. So people see Jesus, of course,
- 18:44and still you do not believe. All those the Father gives me
- 18:49will come to me. And whoever comes to me, I will
- 18:53never drive away. For I have come down from heaven
- 18:58not to do my will, but to do the will of him who sent me.
- 19:05And this is the will of him who sent me, that I shall lose none
- 19:11of all those he has given me, but raise them up at the last
- 19:17day. So Jesus is going to raise up
- 19:22people at the last day. See, This is why Jesus says I am
- 19:27the way, the truth, and the life.
- 19:28And no one comes to the Father except through me.
- 19:31And Jesus is the one who gives us the Holy Spirit.
- 19:35And we need the Holy Spirit to raise because that's how Jesus
- 19:38rose from the dead. It was the Father's Spirit
- 19:42living in him. OK, so Jesus continues, for my
- 19:46Father's will is that everyone who looks to the Son and
- 19:52believes in him shall have eternal life.
- 19:57And I will raise them up at the last day.
- 20:03So again, there's the resurrection.
- 20:05Jesus is in charge of that. I will raise them up the last
- 20:08day. At this the Jews there began to
- 20:11grumble about him, because he said, I am the bread that came
- 20:14down from heaven. They said, Is this not Jesus the
- 20:17son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know?
- 20:20How can he say I came down from heaven?
- 20:24Stop grumbling among yourselves, Jesus answered.
- 20:27No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws them,
- 20:33and I will raise them up at the last day.
- 20:37Now Jesus has said this three Times Now, that he would raise
- 20:39people up on the last day and that people can't come to him
- 20:43unless the Father who sent Jesus draws them.
- 20:47God calls us first, then it's up to us to respond to God.
- 20:52So whenever somebody is inviting you to church, sharing something
- 20:59about God, something about Jesus with you, don't think that is
- 21:05just, I don't know, a weird thing or that it's just happened
- 21:11for an unknown reason. It's not a coincidence.
- 21:16God is calling people. He uses people who are willing
- 21:20to do that, just like Jesus was will.
- 21:24He came to do the Father's will. The same thing for people who
- 21:28have the Holy Spirit, because people who don't have the Holy
- 21:32Spirit are probably not going to be sharing God or Jesus or the
- 21:36Holy Spirit with anyone else because that's kind of a weird
- 21:40subject before you have the Holy Spirit to really talk about with
- 21:43people. So once you have the Holy
- 21:46Spirit, though, you, you actually, you care.
- 21:50And so you do say things about it that you wouldn't have said
- 21:54prior to having the Holy Spirit. And I can just say that from my
- 21:57own personal experience that I never talked to anybody about
- 22:01this, you know, in the way that I do today.
- 22:06And that's, I think that's the difference.
- 22:08It's the Holy Spirit. Anyway, I'm going back to verse
- 22:1245 now. It is written in the prophets.
- 22:15They will all be taught by God. Everyone who has heard the
- 22:21Father and learned from him comes to me.
- 22:26So when you get somebody drawing you in or inviting you to get to
- 22:34know Jesus, to know God, to go to church and learn about God,
- 22:41don't refuse it because it's an invitation from God.
- 22:45God works through people to get to you.
- 22:48And if you seek him, if you respond to that, if you start
- 22:54seeking him and wanting to know more about Him, he will reveal.
- 22:59It says right here they will all be taught by God.
- 23:03Everyone who has heard the Father and learned from him
- 23:06comes to me. So that's the the Father will
- 23:10draw us and then will show us that Jesus is who he says He
- 23:15was, is, really was and is. He is the way, the truth, the
- 23:21life, and no one comes to the Father except through him.
- 23:24Then Jesus said no one has seen the Father except the one who is
- 23:29from God. Only He has seen the Father very
- 23:33truly, I tell you, the one who believes has eternal life.
- 23:39I am the bread of life. Your ancestors ate the manna in
- 23:45the wilderness, yet they died. But here is the bread that comes
- 23:49down from heaven, which anyone may eat and not die.
- 23:54I am the living bread that came down from heaven.
- 23:57Whoever eats the spread will live forever.
- 24:00The bread is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the
- 24:04world. So Jesus, Jesus is the bread
- 24:10symbolically, right? And the bread is his flesh like
- 24:14his body, and his body is given on the cross for the life of the
- 24:20world so that we can live. So anyway, then it goes into
- 24:24like all the confusion that the Jews start debating.
- 24:29But anyway, Jesus is the one who said that.
- 24:31So he said that nobody's seen the Father.
- 24:34But then we have to think about very early on in the Old
- 24:36Testament when Moses had a burning Bush happen and a voice
- 24:43came out of it and the voice said I am who I am.
- 24:49This is what you are to say the to the Israelites.
- 24:51I am has sent me to you. So it's it's very interesting
- 24:58how it's written in the Bible is it first says that it was like
- 25:03an Angel of the Lord appeared to him.
- 25:06But Angel is also an interpretation because it's
- 25:11usually a messenger of the Lord. So the messenger of the Lord,
- 25:15could that have been Jesus, a messenger of the Father, the Son
- 25:21of God? It really does sound like it
- 25:25simply because of the exchange that happened.
- 25:28So I'm going to start with Exodus chapter 3, verse 2.
- 25:31Then the Angel, or if you want to say messenger of the Lord
- 25:35appeared to him in flames of fire from within the Bush.
- 25:40Moses saw that the Bush, that though the Bush was on fire, it
- 25:44did not burn up. Actually, that's that just
- 25:47brought to mind another one that we read in the book of Daniel
- 25:50about the three boys, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego that were
- 25:54thrown into a burning furnace and they did not burn.
- 25:58And then King Nebuchadnezzar said, wait a minute, we threw
- 26:02three boys into that furnace, but I see four and the fourth
- 26:07looks like the sons of God. So that's another sighting of
- 26:13Jesus before he was before he came to Mary.
- 26:19So Jesus was eternal and he's, this is what Jesus is actually
- 26:23saying to Moses here in when he appears in this Bush.
- 26:28So going back to the book of Exodus verse chapter 3, verse 3.
- 26:34So Moses thought, I will go over and see this strange sight.
- 26:38Why the Bush does not burn up? When the Lord saw that he had
- 26:43gone over to look, God called to him from within the Bush.
- 26:50Moses. Moses and Moses said, here I am,
- 26:54do not come any closer. God said, take off your sandals,
- 26:59for the place you are standing is is holy ground.
- 27:03Then he said, I am the God of your Father, the God of Abraham,
- 27:11the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.
- 27:15At this Moses hid his face because he was afraid to look at
- 27:20God. The Lord said, I have indeed
- 27:24seen the misery of my people in Egypt.
- 27:26I have heard them crying out because of their slave drivers,
- 27:29and I'm concerned about their suffering.
- 27:31So I have come down to rescue them from the hand of the
- 27:37Egyptians. Remember it also says like by my
- 27:41own arm I saved them, and to bring them up out of the land
- 27:47into a good and spacious land, a land flowing with milk and
- 27:51honey, the home of the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites,
- 27:54parasites, Hivites and Jebusites.
- 27:57And now the cry of the Israelites has reached me, and I
- 28:01have seen the way the Egyptians are oppressing them.
- 28:04So now I am sending you to the Pharaoh to bring my people, the
- 28:08Israelites out of Egypt. But Moses said to God, who am I
- 28:14that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the Israelites out of
- 28:16Egypt? And God said, I will be with
- 28:19you, and this will be a sign to you that it is I who have sent
- 28:25you. When you have brought the people
- 28:28out of Egypt, you will worship God on this mountain.
- 28:32Moses said to God, Suppose I go to the Israelites and say to
- 28:36them, the God of your Father's has sent me to you.
- 28:39And they asked me, What is his name?
- 28:42Then what shall I tell him? God said to Moses, I am who I
- 28:48am. This is what you are to say to
- 28:50the Israelites. I am has sent me to you.
- 28:56There's another time where Jesus was talking to the Pharisees
- 29:00that's in Scripture that they said that Abraham saw what I was
- 29:05doing and he was pleased with it.
- 29:06Something to that effect, I'm paraphrasing.
- 29:09And so the Pharisees say to him, how can that be?
- 29:12You were not even 50 years old and you couldn't have known
- 29:17Abraham. You're not that old to have
- 29:19known Abraham basically is what they were saying.
- 29:21But again, this is just showing that I think it was Abraham, or
- 29:29maybe it was it was Moses that he was talking to that I can't
- 29:34remember now. I'd have to look up that
- 29:36Scripture, but it was basically Jesus was saying that he, I
- 29:39thought it was Abraham that he was telling that he had shared
- 29:43his plans with him and Abraham was pleased and they were like,
- 29:46there's no way because you're not old enough.
- 29:49And so God has, which we'll get to next about Abraham, how God
- 29:55had, Jesus had actually visited Abraham too.
- 30:01So Jesus visited, in my opinion, and I think supported by
- 30:05Scripture, Jesus had visited Abraham, He visited Moses.
- 30:09We just saw that. Now here's where he visits
- 30:12Abraham. So what happened here was this
- 30:16is about Sodom and Gomorrah and people were saying how terrible
- 30:20it was. They were praying to God and the
- 30:22prayers went up and then there were three visitors who showed
- 30:25up. And this is the account of the
- 30:30the three visitors that showed up, which I think Jesus is one
- 30:34of these visitors because of what is said here.
- 30:37So Genesis chapter 18, verse one, the Lord appeared to
- 30:43Abraham near the great trees of Mamare while he was sitting at
- 30:47the entrance to his tent in the heat of the day.
- 30:51Abraham looked up and saw three men standing nearby.
- 30:55When he saw them, he hurried from the entrance of his tent to
- 30:57meet them and bowed low to the ground.
- 30:59He said, if I found favor in your eyes, my Lord, do not pass
- 31:03your servant by. Let a little water be brought
- 31:06and you may all wash your feet and rest under this tree.
- 31:10Let me get you something to eat so you can be refreshed, and
- 31:13then go on your way, now that you have come to your servant.
- 31:17Now that you've come to your servant.
- 31:18Very well, they answered, Do as you say.
- 31:22So Abraham hurried into the tent to Sarah.
- 31:24Quickie said, Get 3 sias of the finest flour and knead it and
- 31:29bake some bread. Then he ran to the herd and
- 31:32selected a choice tender calf and gave it to a servant who
- 31:35hurried to repair it. Then he bought some curds and
- 31:38milk in the calf that had been prepared and set the these
- 31:42before them. While they ate, he stood near
- 31:45them under a tree. Where is your wife, Sarah?
- 31:49They asked him. There in the tent, he said.
- 31:53Then one of them said, I will surely return to you about this
- 31:58time next year, and Sarah, your wife, will have a son.
- 32:02Now Sarah was listening at the entrance to the tent which was
- 32:06behind him. Abraham and Sarah were already
- 32:09very old, and Sarah was past the age of childbearing.
- 32:13So Sarah laughed to herself as she thought, After I am worn out
- 32:20and my Lord is old, will I now have this pleasure?
- 32:25Then the Lord listen that. Then the Lord said to Abraham,
- 32:30why did Sarah laugh and say, Will I really?
- 32:35Will I really have a child now that I'm old?
- 32:39So it says when and then the Lord, and it was Jehovah.
- 32:43Jehovah is the Lord in Hebrew. So isn't that talking about
- 32:51Jesus then it says is anything too hard for the Lord?
- 32:58I will return to you at the appointed time next year and
- 33:02Sarah will have a son. Sarah was afraid so she lied and
- 33:06said I did not laugh, but he said yes you did laugh.
- 33:11So again, I think that might have been Jesus because Jesus
- 33:17said that no one has ever seen the Father.
- 33:22And then we have another part. We're going to go back to the
- 33:26book of Daniel chapter 10, verse 10 and read something else that
- 33:31sounds like maybe this was Jesus once again.
- 33:35OK, verse 10 from Daniel chapter 10, a hand touched me and set me
- 33:41trembling on my hands and knees. He said, Daniel, you who are
- 33:47highly esteemed, consider carefully the words I am about
- 33:51to speak to you and stand up, for I have now been sent to you.
- 33:56And when he said this to me, I stood up, trembling.
- 34:02Then he continued. Do not be afraid, Daniel.
- 34:05Since the first day that you set your mind to gain understanding
- 34:09and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard,
- 34:14and I have come in response to them.
- 34:17But the Prince of the Persian Kingdom resisted me. 21 days.
- 34:23Then Michael, one of the chief Princess came to help me because
- 34:29I was detained there with the king of with the king of Persia.
- 34:34Now I have come to explain to you what will happen to your
- 34:38people in the future for the vision concerns a time yet to
- 34:42come. Now this is really interesting
- 34:44and I just as I was reading it, I started thinking about
- 34:47something I had read that the study Bible said was there was
- 34:53they it says like, why would you know, why would Jesus need this
- 35:00Michael? Why would Jesus need Michael to
- 35:02help him? You know, if it's Jesus, that's,
- 35:05you know, he wouldn't need Michael to help him.
- 35:07That's a really good point. However, at this point when
- 35:13Daniel is saying this, Jesus hasn't died on the cross yet and
- 35:19somehow Satan has. He's called the ruler of the air
- 35:25and he's rowing about the earth. And also, if you remember when
- 35:30Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist, he went out to the
- 35:34wilderness and Satan tempted him for 40 days.
- 35:39And during that temptation time, Satan took him up on a tall
- 35:44mountain or hilltop and basically said, look at all of
- 35:48this. This is my Kingdom.
- 35:50If you bow down and worship me, I will give it to you.
- 35:54And Jesus didn't say, Satan, that's not yours.
- 35:58You can't do that. You don't have authority to do
- 36:01that. Jesus didn't say that.
- 36:04Jesus said you shall not test, test or tempt the Lord your God
- 36:10and to when he said that, so, and he just said, you know, he
- 36:17was acknowledging Jesus was acknowledging who Jesus himself
- 36:20was the son of God. And he's like, don't don't test
- 36:25me or don't tempt me. I don't remember exactly what
- 36:27the word was, but he was basically that's all he, he just
- 36:31kind of rebuked Satan basically, but he didn't say Satan.
- 36:35That's not true. So and then when we get into the
- 36:40Book of Revelation, everyone in heaven is cheering when
- 36:46everything has been turned over to Jesus.
- 36:49So at this point, maybe Jesus has, you know, like there's all
- 36:55these principalities. The way we understand from Paul
- 36:59that God apparently the Father has assigned to different
- 37:04entities angelic beings to oversee certain areas.
- 37:08That's also kind of confirmed in the Book of Enoch.
- 37:10That is not canonized or part of the Bible, but it explains a lot
- 37:16of this where there's these, these angelic rebellious beings
- 37:20who came to the earth and did things they weren't supposed to
- 37:22do. But the Bible itself does
- 37:25support that. There are different
- 37:27principalities and they have dominion over certain lands.
- 37:31If we think about it, the ancient lands that are talked
- 37:35about in the Bible, which I do like to point out as we read
- 37:39along, because you will see that these lands seem to always have
- 37:44been against the Israelites, against God.
- 37:48And why do you think that might be?
- 37:50Maybe the people that were living in those lands were being
- 37:54influenced by the enemy of God. Maybe this is all spiritual.
- 38:00I, I didn't understand this until I read the Bible, but
- 38:03everything that's going on in the Middle East is spiritual.
- 38:06It's a spiritual battle for territory.
- 38:10It's the enemies of God that want to have the earth.
- 38:17That's what this is a power struggle.
- 38:19And that's what we're experiencing.
- 38:21And, and we're not, you know, it says we're, we don't wrestle
- 38:24against flesh and blood, but we do against the evil entities in
- 38:29the spiritual realms that have these principalities and have
- 38:34dominions over certain areas. So all the people in the Bible
- 38:39knew this in ancient times. But until we read the Bible,
- 38:42because nobody talks about it, we don't understand this.
- 38:46And we don't understand there's a higher spiritual thing that's
- 38:49happening in this world and it's affecting all of us here.
- 38:52So anyway, and that's why I think this, this could have very
- 38:57well been Jesus that said this. So I'm going to I'm going to
- 38:59read this again. Then he continued.
- 39:01Don't be afraid, Daniel, since the first day that you set your
- 39:04mind to gain understanding and to humble yourself before God,
- 39:07God doesn't like the proud. Your words were heard and I've
- 39:11come in response to them. But the Prince of the Persian
- 39:15Kingdom, so the ruler of the Persian Kingdom resisted me 21
- 39:21days. So maybe there's some legal God
- 39:24is very orderly and very legal. He doesn't just not abide by his
- 39:29rules. That's exactly if, if he could
- 39:32just, he can do whatever he wants, but because he's right
- 39:36and he's just, he has to do things legally.
- 39:39So just like he could have if he wanted to, if he wasn't
- 39:45righteous, he could have just saved all of us and he wouldn't
- 39:48have had to send, send his son Jesus to die on the cross for
- 39:54us. But because he does things
- 39:57legally, there was a required sacrifice.
- 40:02There was. It says the wages of sin is
- 40:04death. Somebody had to pay the price.
- 40:07Animals didn't cut it because they weren't human.
- 40:10That's why Jesus took on the form of a human being.
- 40:13And was killed so that he could be the substitute sacrifice for
- 40:19our sins. I mean he literally God came
- 40:23down in human form and died and was abused prior to that on the
- 40:31on the cross and then resurrected just so that we can
- 40:35be in the Kingdom of God. It just like the Bible says
- 40:40there's no greater love than one who lays down their life for
- 40:43another and that's what Jesus did for us.
- 40:46Then it says then Michael, one of the chief Princess came to
- 40:50help me. So you know, God chose Israel.
- 40:54So it would make sense that Michael, the Angel that is
- 40:59overseeing Israel, who has that area, that he would be with
- 41:03Jesus. He would be helping him.
- 41:06Jesus returns with the armies of the heavenly armies at the very
- 41:11end. So you know he doesn't need them
- 41:15but they come with him. So that argument about well it
- 41:21wouldn't be Jesus because he wouldn't be helping Michael or
- 41:24something. Jesus was always like AI mean
- 41:27when he came to earth he acted like a servant.
- 41:30He washed his disciples feet. You think he wouldn't help
- 41:34Michael the Archangel? I mean that just doesn't that
- 41:38contradicts the scripture what we know.
- 41:41OK, so it's because I was detained there with the King of
- 41:44Persia. Now I have come to explain to
- 41:47you what will happen to your people in the future for the
- 41:51vision concerns a time yet to come.
- 41:54So God reveals things. So again, he didn't say I come
- 41:59with the message from God. He just said I'm telling you
- 42:03what's going to happen. So it kind of seems like this is
- 42:08probably Jesus here. What else was I going to?
- 42:13Oh, strengthening. So Daniel gets very weak.
- 42:16And that's a very common thing that people who have visions of
- 42:21angels or visions of Jesus, they become very weak.
- 42:24There's just something about in the presence, they fall down on
- 42:27their knees. And this is exactly what
- 42:30happened to Elijah when he was, oh gosh, he was going through a
- 42:39battle with Jezebel and Ahab and they were trying to kill all
- 42:43these prophets. And so this is a part of that
- 42:48story where Elijah is running away so that he's not killed
- 42:52like the other prophets of the Lord, the true prophets that are
- 42:56hearing from God. So this is in First Kings
- 43:00chapter 19, verse 4. This is about Elijah.
- 43:04While he himself went a day's journey into the wilderness.
- 43:07He came to a broom Bush, sat down under it and prayed that he
- 43:13might die. I have had enough, Lord, He
- 43:17said, take my life. I am no better than my
- 43:22ancestors. This sounds like repentance.
- 43:27It sounds like he's just he's giving up here.
- 43:33Then he lay down under the Bush and fell asleep all at once.
- 43:38An Angel touched him and said get up and eat.
- 43:43So when I look up Angel, it says Malak it, which is a messenger,
- 43:51ambassador or variant, or it could be an Angel.
- 43:56So it could be, but it it might be a messenger of God, it could
- 44:02be the Son of God. I don't know because he
- 44:05strengthens. So anyway, I don't know if
- 44:09angels have that power to strengthen somebody, but I know
- 44:12that God does. So then he lay down and the
- 44:15Angel said, get up and eat. He looked around and there by
- 44:19his head was some bread baked over hot coals and a jar of
- 44:23water. He ate and drank and then lay
- 44:25down. OK, now that I'm reading that,
- 44:27instantaneously, all of a sudden I had another thought.
- 44:30What happened when the disciples after Jesus rose from the dead,
- 44:35the disciples are out on a boat. They come in and they come to
- 44:38shore and they see Jesus there. He's making a meal for them.
- 44:42He's cooking fish and they ate and drank with him.
- 44:45This was after he died and resurrected.
- 44:48So this is another thing that Jesus has done before that he
- 44:52feeds his people, he brings. He's again has this like servant
- 44:56posture that he's doing. Then it says the Angel of the
- 45:00Lord or the messenger of the Lord came back a second time and
- 45:03touched him and said, get up and eat, for the journey is too much
- 45:07for you. So he got up and ate and drank.
- 45:11Strengthened by that food, he travelled 40 days and 40 nights
- 45:17until he reached Horeb, the mountain of God, that's Mount
- 45:21Sinai. So there he went into The Cave
- 45:24and spent the night, and the word of the Lord came to him.
- 45:29What are you doing here, Elijah? So like God is just right with
- 45:34him. And that's something else like a
- 45:36biblical message that we get when we read Scripture is when
- 45:39we're going through tough times. Like Elijah was, he was wanting
- 45:42to die. He was like, take my life.
- 45:45And God was with him. God was strengthening him.
- 45:50Like with God, the impossible is possible.
- 45:54That's also in Scripture. And then in Psalms it says, not
- 45:59Psalms, it is Philomen, I guess Philippians, Philippians.
- 46:06I wasn't sure which one it was. The way it was abbreviated in
- 46:10Philippians 4 verse 13, it says I can do all this through him
- 46:15who gives me strength. So the Lord gives strength to
- 46:19people. So again, that's another reason
- 46:21why I think this messenger could have been Jesus.
- 46:28When we get to Ezekiel chapter one, verse 28, it says this is a
- 46:35vision that he said I saw actually verse 27, he has this
- 46:42heavenly vision. He said, I saw that from what
- 46:45appeared to be his waist up, he looked like glowing metal as if
- 46:52full of fire and that from there down he looked like fire and a
- 46:57brilliant light surrounded him. So the only thing that I can say
- 47:03about this one, let's see, we have to read verse.
- 47:07The verse before that it says above the vault over their heads
- 47:11was what looked like a throne of lapis lazuli.
- 47:18And high above on the throne was a figure like that of a man.
- 47:25So again, this is what I think is Jesus that I saw from what
- 47:29appeared to be his waist up. He looked like glowing metal, as
- 47:33if full of fire, and that from there down he looked like fire
- 47:37and a brilliant light surrounded him, like the appearance of a
- 47:42rainbow in the clouds on a rainy day.
- 47:45So was the radiance around him. This was the appearance of the
- 47:51likeness of the glory of the Lord.
- 47:55When I saw it, I fell face down and I heard the voice of one
- 48:00speaking. So again, it's just like in awe.
- 48:05That's what happens to people. They they feel weak, they fall
- 48:09down and there's this light that's shown and that's kind of
- 48:13what Daniel saw. He said in verse 6.
- 48:18He said his body was like Topaz, his face like lightning, his
- 48:22eyes like flaming torches. So again, the sounds like him
- 48:29and then let's see this is the story about what happened with
- 48:36Saul and starting in Acts Chapter 9 verse 3, as he neared
- 48:43Damascus on his journey, suddenly a light from heaven
- 48:49flashed around him. That's just like what Daniel
- 48:52saw. He said his face.
- 48:54Daniel said, his face like lightning.
- 48:57This is back to Acts now where Saul or Paul?
- 49:02He fell to the ground and heard a voice say to him, Saul, Saul,
- 49:07why do you persecute me? Who are you Lord?
- 49:11Saul asked. I am Jesus whom you are
- 49:16persecuting. He replied.
- 49:18Now get up and go into the city and you will be told what you
- 49:22must do. So Jesus just gives him
- 49:25direction. The men travelling with Saul
- 49:29stood there speechless. They heard the sound but did not
- 49:32see anyone. That was just like what happened
- 49:35to Daniel. The the others that were with
- 49:39him, they, they just felt terror and they fled and hid.
- 49:44They didn't see it, but he did. But they experienced something.
- 49:50Saul got up from the ground, going back to the book of Acts.
- 49:52Saul got up from the ground, but when he opened his eyes he could
- 49:55see nothing. So they led him by hand into
- 49:59Damascus. And so then that goes on about
- 50:02Saul's story about him being obedient to Jesus.
- 50:06And then his eyesight was restored.
- 50:09And then John has a vision of Christ.
- 50:14And this is what John says in the Book of Revelation chapter
- 50:201. And this is where let's start at
- 50:25verse 10. On the Lords day I was in the
- 50:27Spirit and I heard behind me a voice like a trumpet which said
- 50:32right on a scroll what you see and send it to the seven
- 50:37churches to Ephesus, Smyrta, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis,
- 50:41Philadelphia and Laodicea. I turned around to see the voice
- 50:45that was speaking to me and when I turned I saw 7 golden
- 50:50lampstands and among the lampstands was someone like a
- 50:54son of man the way Jesus is often described, dressed in a
- 50:59robe reaching down to his feet with a golden sash around his
- 51:04chest. So again, this golden sash, the
- 51:07golden belt, this is this is repeated through multiple
- 51:11visions. The hair on his head was white
- 51:14like wool, as white as snow, and his eyes were like blazing fire.
- 51:20That's what Daniel said. His eyes like flaming torches,
- 51:24his feet were like bronze glowing in a furnace, and his
- 51:28voice was like the sound of rushing waters.
- 51:31It's kind of like what Daniel said, his arms and legs like
- 51:34gleams of burnished bronze and his voice like the sound of a
- 51:39multitude. And then it goes on to describe
- 51:42more in the Book of Revelation. So then here's another thing
- 51:50that I came across as I was thinking about this.
- 51:54You know what the study Bible says that, well, Jesus, you
- 51:58know, Christ the Messiah would not need Michael to help him or
- 52:01anything. Well, actually, that'll be the
- 52:07end of it. So I'm not going to go there yet
- 52:08because we have to finish Daniel's chapter 10 before that
- 52:12next cross reference in the Bible's going to make sense.
- 52:16So the last verse that we read was the the person who appeared
- 52:23to Daniel saying, Now I have come to explain to you what will
- 52:26happen to your people in the future, for the vision concerns
- 52:30a time yet to come. While he was saying this to me,
- 52:33I bowed with my face toward the ground and was speechless.
- 52:37Then one who looked like a man touched my lips, and I opened my
- 52:42mouth and began to speak. I said to the one standing
- 52:46before me. I am overcome with anguish
- 52:49because of the vision, my Lord, and I feel weak.
- 52:53How can I, your servant, talk with you, my Lord?
- 52:57My strength is gone, and I can hardly breathe again.
- 53:02The one who looked like a man touched me and gave me strength.
- 53:07It's the Lord who strengthens people.
- 53:09Do not be afraid. You who are highly esteemed.
- 53:12He said peace, be strong now be strong.
- 53:17When he spoke to me, I was strengthened just speaking to
- 53:22him. That's what Jesus says.
- 53:24There are power in words, the power and the, you know, in God
- 53:29through God. So when he spoke to me, this
- 53:32wasn't by food or anything. This was just speaking to him.
- 53:36He was strengthened and that's, this sounds like son of God.
- 53:40When he spoke to me, I was strengthened and said, speak my
- 53:44Lord, since you have given me strength.
- 53:47So he said, do you know why I have come to you?
- 53:51Soon I will return to fight against the Prince of Persia.
- 53:56And when I go, the Prince of Greece will come.
- 54:00But first I will tell you what is written in the book of Truth.
- 54:04No one supports me against them except Michael, your Prince.
- 54:09And and in the first year of Darius the Mead, I took my stand
- 54:16to support and protect him. So Michael is a senior.
- 54:22He's like the chief, you know, an Archangel.
- 54:25He's somebody important that is overseeing Israel and this
- 54:29person, this, this, I won't say person, this entity, the Jesus,
- 54:38let's just say Jesus, Jesus who came to talk to Daniel said in
- 54:42the first year of Darius that was from Chapter 9.
- 54:44That's when Daniel had that vision.
- 54:47He said I took my stand to support and protect him.
- 54:52So this person delivering the this being delivering the
- 54:55message to Daniel is protecting Michael.
- 54:59Wouldn't that be Jesus? I mean, this just sounds so much
- 55:03like Jesus. Let's see what else is there.
- 55:06And then he has to, you know, if again, it's God is legal, he
- 55:11does things through justice through his laws.
- 55:14He does what he needs to do to accomplish his will.
- 55:18So is, you know, in during this time was Jesus fighting against
- 55:24the Prince of Persia and how would anyone except for Jesus be
- 55:31all knowing, except for God be all knowing to say that when I
- 55:35leave, the Prince of Greece will come and the Greece is actually
- 55:41Yevon or Yavon. And, and that is, you know, I
- 55:48guess like ancient Ionia, and that is primarily modern day
- 55:55Turkey. It does consist of other areas.
- 55:57But whenever I hear Greece, the way the Bible has it translated
- 56:02in these versions instead of Yavon, which are Yavon, they
- 56:05don't know how to pronounce it in the Bible.
- 56:08The actual Hebrew word. It gives me a different picture
- 56:11of what we're talking about. But the Greece was the Ionia.
- 56:17Ancient Ionia was located on the western the coast of Asia Minor,
- 56:22meaning its territory is primarily within modern day
- 56:25Turkey. That kind of gives us a little
- 56:28bit of a different understanding of this of Greece.
- 56:33I mean, if we substitute just like I talked about before about
- 56:36the goat, which was symbolic, I think of Turkey, and I think
- 56:43that plays into current day events as well, that we should
- 56:47really pay attention to it. And we'll probably get into more
- 56:51of that detail when we get into the kings of the north and the
- 56:54South. But that was just so, so
- 56:56detailed. Like that's just going to take a
- 56:58little bit to go through that one.
- 57:00But it says key Ionian cities like Ephesus, Militis, Smyrna
- 57:05are in Turkey. But the spirit of Ionia
- 57:08philosophy early scene is part of a broader Greek heritage,
- 57:12while the name also refers to islands that are now part of
- 57:15Greece like Samos and Chios. So I don't know how to say that.
- 57:19And the Ionian Sea so that is it talks about.
- 57:27This is also interesting. Ancient Yvana or Yvonne
- 57:35primarily refers to the Greek and Hellenistic peoples,
- 57:39especially those interacting with ancient India.
- 57:42So modern countries like Greece but also areas of modern
- 57:46Pakistan and Afghanistan where Indo Greek kingdoms ruled and
- 57:52historically regions were Greek settled like Turkey, Egypt and
- 57:56parts of Central Asia. The name itself comes from
- 58:00Ionians, the Greek Persians first met and persist in modern
- 58:05names for Greece across many languages.
- 58:08So it's Yevon and Hebrew. So I think it's always
- 58:14interesting to find out about these things.
- 58:20So another thing that I came across when I was looking about
- 58:23Anatolia, Turkey, where they're saying that that is becoming,
- 58:28they're finding more and more archaeological findings.
- 58:32And they're, there's like a, a thought that this could be like
- 58:36the, the origination of human civilization.
- 58:40And that was thought to have been ancient Mesopotamia, where
- 58:47ancient civilization started. But now they're thinking it
- 58:50might be Anatolia, Turkey. So everything, if we're talking
- 58:54about the history of the world and where it all started,
- 58:58Mesopotamia, that's where Abraham was called from.
- 59:01He was in the land of Ur, which is the land of Mesopotamia,
- 59:04which is like modern day Iraq. That's where all this came from.
- 59:10And God called him. That's how all this started.
- 59:12God called him and then told him that he would have descendants
- 59:19that would be numerous. And then through him came Jacob,
- 59:24came Isaac and Jacob. So that's why you hear that
- 59:27Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and he there you can follow along in
- 59:33the Bible and find how the promise was given to the next
- 59:37generation. When you travel, you know, go
- 59:39through generations, Abraham to Isaac, to Jacob, to his
- 59:43descendants, the promise stayed with the descendants of Jacob.
- 59:47And so you see that Israel is the name for Jacob.
- 59:53God changed again. This is another Jesus sighting
- 59:56where I think it was actually Jesus wrestling with Jacob and
- 1:00:02he names him Israel. So these are there's just so
- 1:00:07many times where Jesus appears in not just in prophecy, but
- 1:00:11literally in the Old Testament. And the more I read, the more I
- 1:00:16see this. But ancient Mesopotamia was
- 1:00:20modern day Iraq and also parts of Syria, Turkey and Iran.
- 1:00:27So think about where all this chaos is happening right now.
- 1:00:33This is where it all started. This is where it's all going to
- 1:00:37end eventually. But to know the Bible is to know
- 1:00:42the very beginning of our world and what happened.
- 1:00:47And it makes everything make sense.
- 1:00:50Like you understand what is going on in the world when you
- 1:00:54know what's in the Bible because it applies to our modern day.
- 1:01:00And anyway, it just keeps current life very interesting.
- 1:01:05I had no idea. Again, this was going to be such
- 1:01:07a long podcast, so I'm going to end it now, but hopefully it was
- 1:01:11beneficial to you. If you aren't already
- 1:01:15subscribed, please subscribe to this podcast and share it with
- 1:01:20others if you think it would be helpful.
- 1:01:22The most important thing is that we all develop a relationship
- 1:01:26with Christ because Jesus is the way, the truth and the life, and
- 1:01:30no one comes to the Father except through Him.
- 1:01:33So when somebody reaches out to us, you can be assured that if
- 1:01:40they're talking about God, if they're talking about Jesus,
- 1:01:43that God is trying to get your attention.
- 1:01:46So get into Scripture and seek him because there will be
- 1:01:52benefits. I mean, God's trying to give you
- 1:01:55the inheritance that he planned for everybody, but it's up to us
- 1:01:58to respond. He's not going to force us,
- 1:01:59force it on us. So it's our decision, but
- 1:02:04respond to God. So hopefully staying in the word
- 1:02:08every day like I tried to do through these podcasts will help
- 1:02:11others stay in the Word also. Come back again.
- 1:02:16Thanks.
