- 0:00SPEAKER_00: There's a great big beautiful tomorrow.
- 0:04SPEAKER_00: Shining at the end of every day.
- 0:08SPEAKER_00: There's a great big beautiful tomorrow.
- 0:12SPEAKER_02: Just a dream.
- 0:15SPEAKER_00: Hello, you're listening to Mice and Main Street Men.
- 0:18SPEAKER_00: I am Tristan.
- 0:19SPEAKER_02: And I'm Savannah.
- 0:21SPEAKER_02: You are home.
- 0:22SPEAKER_02: I'm home.
- 0:24SPEAKER_01: For a minute, at least.
- 0:25SPEAKER_02: For three whole months.
- 0:26SPEAKER_01: I know.
- 0:26SPEAKER_02: I've been gone for ten.
- 0:28SPEAKER_01: I know.
- 0:28SPEAKER_01: So those of you that are listening have heard me talk about Savannah.
- 0:31SPEAKER_01: Uh, or if you listen to the Disney Adventure episode, you knew that I went to visit her.
- 0:35SPEAKER_01: But what have you been doing?
- 0:36SPEAKER_02: Because I have been working for the mouse.
- 0:40SPEAKER_01: You have been working for the mouse.
- 0:42SPEAKER_02: Michael Mouse himself.
- 0:46SPEAKER_02: Michael Mouse.
- 0:47SPEAKER_02: Michael Mouse.
- 0:49SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I've been working with Disney Cruise Line.
- 0:53SPEAKER_02: I opened the new Disney Adventure.
- 0:55SPEAKER_02: I was part of the inaugural team.
- 0:57SPEAKER_02: Where is that?
- 0:59SPEAKER_02: Not close to Disney.
- 1:00SPEAKER_02: Not close by.
- 1:02SPEAKER_02: Our home port is in Singapore.
- 1:07SPEAKER_02: So I have been all over the world at this point because I opened the ship.
- 1:13SPEAKER_02: So I got to embark uh while the ship was still in the shipyard in Germany.
- 1:19SPEAKER_02: Not the original shipyard.
- 1:21SPEAKER_02: It moved to um, I believe it was Meyerwurft.
- 1:25SPEAKER_02: Uh so that's where I embarked in Bremerhaven, Germany.
- 1:28SPEAKER_02: And I got to do a Pacific or an Atlantic crossing from Germany to Florida, which was long.
- 1:37SPEAKER_02: Uh but then we did, I got to see you while we were in Florida.
- 1:41SPEAKER_02: You did an episode about that.
- 1:42SPEAKER_02: Um we went to Curacao and through the Panama Canal and to LA, and then we did a Pacific crossing, which was even longer than the Atlantic crossing.
- 1:53SPEAKER_02: And then we stopped in Tokyo and then finally made it to Singapore.
- 1:57SPEAKER_02: And on my way home, I flew from Singapore to Germany and then Germany to Chicago.
- 2:03SPEAKER_02: So I truly did a full circle around the world.
- 2:06SPEAKER_01: That's crazy.
- 2:06SPEAKER_01: So you're working for the mouse, which we can't talk a whole lot about what you do.
- 2:10SPEAKER_01: What you're doing existing.
- 2:11SPEAKER_02: We can talk a little bit about it, but that we can save that for another episode.
- 2:14SPEAKER_01: But uh, but yeah, I'm just happy that you're home and it's lovely.
- 2:17SPEAKER_02: I'm so happy to be home.
- 2:18SPEAKER_02: I missed you, I missed Harper, I missed our cats.
- 2:21SPEAKER_01: I'm a big fan of you.
- 2:23SPEAKER_02: And you know, I don't know if you know this.
- 2:25SPEAKER_02: You're not allowed to have a cat on the Yeah, they didn't they didn't let you bring the cat.
- 2:29SPEAKER_02: They didn't let me have a cabin cat.
- 2:31SPEAKER_02: I miss you too.
- 2:32SPEAKER_01: Yes, I know, but it was mostly the cat.
- 2:34SPEAKER_02: I get it.
- 2:34SPEAKER_02: No, I no, no, no.
- 2:35SPEAKER_02: I get it.
- 2:36SPEAKER_01: I know where I rank.
- 2:37SPEAKER_02: I did go to a cat cafe while I was in Singapore to get my little fix.
- 2:41SPEAKER_01: But I'm happy that you're home because uh every memorial day I have gone to Lost Island for their opening weekend.
- 2:48SPEAKER_02: By yourself.
- 2:49SPEAKER_01: By myself.
- 2:50SPEAKER_01: And because you're usually gone, yeah.
- 2:53SPEAKER_01: Working somewhere.
- 2:54SPEAKER_01: And uh you came with me.
- 2:57SPEAKER_02: I did.
- 2:57SPEAKER_01: So that's exciting.
- 2:58SPEAKER_02: I got to go with you today.
- 2:59SPEAKER_01: I went to Lost Island's opening weekend, not their opening day, but close enough.
- 3:04SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 3:04SPEAKER_02: And um In Waterloo, Iowa.
- 3:07SPEAKER_01: And I've talked about it before, and if you go back a couple years, there's an in really great interview with the owner of Lost Island, Eric Birch.
- 3:14SPEAKER_01: Um, it was in May of 2023, so you'd have to go pretty far back in the archives.
- 3:20SPEAKER_02: Three years ago.
- 3:21SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 3:21SPEAKER_01: Um, but he's a really fascinating dude, and Lost Island is so cool.
- 3:25SPEAKER_01: I refer to it as like the closest thing you'll get to Disney in the Midwest.
- 3:29SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 3:30SPEAKER_01: And there's just something about it that because there's a bunch of theme parks within a couple hours of here.
- 3:35SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 3:36SPEAKER_01: Six flags and various things.
- 3:37SPEAKER_01: Um, but there's just something extra special about Lost Island.
- 3:42SPEAKER_02: And I think it's it's the most well thought out and planned.
- 3:47SPEAKER_02: Um, if you're a fan of like theming, then then this is for you.
- 3:52SPEAKER_01: Well, and they just they've created their own world.
- 3:55SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 3:55SPEAKER_01: Essentially, with their own IP and their own characters, and they're the park itself is divided into several different lands within this made-up world that they've created.
- 4:08SPEAKER_01: And it's so fascinating to see, like, it's so new still.
- 4:13SPEAKER_01: You know, it only opened in 2022.
- 4:16SPEAKER_02: And it still feels like so fresh, so clear.
- 4:18SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 4:18SPEAKER_01: But it's been cool to see them like evolve too, because they did add a coaster last summer.
- 4:23SPEAKER_01: I did, actually.
- 4:25SPEAKER_02: I wasn't home last summer at all, really.
- 4:27SPEAKER_02: So I didn't get to go to Lost Island last year and experience the new coaster, but this year's amazing.
- 4:31SPEAKER_01: It's yeah, it's called Fire Runner.
- 4:34SPEAKER_02: It's good.
- 4:35SPEAKER_01: And it cooks.
- 4:36SPEAKER_01: It really, really it's so quick, but it has so many turns and twists and and intervals and I was pretty dizzy.
- 4:45unknown: Yeah.
- 4:46SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 4:46SPEAKER_01: It's a it's uh it's a really great coaster, but it's definitely one of the ones where I'm like, all right, I did that.
- 4:52SPEAKER_01: And and now I need to like have a moment because it's really good.
- 4:57SPEAKER_01: It is really great.
- 4:58SPEAKER_01: But um Lost Island itself has a dark ride as well called um Volcano, which is just one of the most incredible dark rides I've ever been on.
- 5:11SPEAKER_01: Designed in uh built by Sally Dark rides, who does a lot of Disney stuff.
- 5:15SPEAKER_01: And when you ride it, that is exactly what you do think is uh Screams Disney.
- 5:22SPEAKER_01: Screams Disney, truly.
- 5:23SPEAKER_02: Because it's like uh it it you have all the senses in there, like obviously visual.
- 5:31SPEAKER_01: Um but it has a cool cue, has a pre-show, yeah, the smells, the smells, and and like a couple animatronics which were great.
- 5:39SPEAKER_01: And it's just one of my favorite We did it like three times.
- 5:42SPEAKER_01: And I think we did do it three times.
- 5:44SPEAKER_01: The first time I went, I think I did that like five times because I was so impressed by it.
- 5:47SPEAKER_01: Um but what were you?
- 5:49SPEAKER_02: Oh, I was gonna say about the um the Fire Runner.
- 5:53SPEAKER_02: I had to look this up just to be sure the wording was correct.
- 5:56SPEAKER_02: But Firerunner is the Midwest's first single rail roller coaster.
- 6:01SPEAKER_02: Oh, okay.
- 6:02SPEAKER_02: So it's yeah, it's a little bit different.
- 6:05SPEAKER_02: I think the single rail makes me a little nervous.
- 6:10SPEAKER_02: But it is really cool.
- 6:11SPEAKER_02: And it is the first of its kind in the Midwest.
- 6:13SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I do.
- 6:15SPEAKER_02: You can't ride that anywhere else.
- 6:16SPEAKER_02: And it's in this area.
- 6:17SPEAKER_01: And you know, the the park's in its fourth year, and for them to have added a coaster already, I think is incredible.
- 6:23SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 6:23SPEAKER_02: Um and I know they've got a lot of room to expand.
- 6:26SPEAKER_01: They do have a lot of room, but people need to go there.
- 6:31SPEAKER_01: Um you rode the carousel for the first time.
- 6:33SPEAKER_01: They added that last year.
- 6:34SPEAKER_01: It's really, really cute.
- 6:36SPEAKER_02: Um a nice pace.
- 6:37SPEAKER_02: I don't like to spin, and sometimes carousels go too fast.
- 6:41SPEAKER_02: I'm gonna be so for real.
- 6:43SPEAKER_02: Is it Prince Charming's carousel?
- 6:45SPEAKER_01: Prince Carousel's Prince Regal, the Regal.
- 6:48SPEAKER_02: The Regal carousel at Disney World.
- 6:50SPEAKER_02: Someone's Prince is the owner of that.
- 6:53SPEAKER_02: At Disney World, yeah.
- 6:54SPEAKER_02: It does, it goes really fast.
- 6:56SPEAKER_02: It's a little cut.
- 6:57SPEAKER_02: It got me really dizzy and like maybe a little nauseous.
- 7:01SPEAKER_02: Um so this one is really nice.
- 7:04SPEAKER_02: It's very slow, very, very chill.
- 7:07SPEAKER_01: You did do the uh the flyer.
- 7:10SPEAKER_02: I did.
- 7:10SPEAKER_02: I do like that one.
- 7:11SPEAKER_02: I just don't want to flip upside down.
- 7:13SPEAKER_01: It's really pretty.
- 7:14SPEAKER_01: I couldn't get you on the swing, so that's okay.
- 7:15SPEAKER_02: No, because it's been I know.
- 7:17SPEAKER_01: That's that's a mean harper thing.
- 7:18SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 7:19SPEAKER_01: Um But we uh we got there a little afternoon, and it was a bummer there weren't more cars in the parking lot.
- 7:27SPEAKER_01: It's it's not like nobody was there, but it's just such a beautiful place that I wish more people would give it.
- 7:32SPEAKER_02: I mean, I want to be selfish and like gatekeep it for sure, because I love you know waiting only a few minutes for things.
- 7:41SPEAKER_02: Um because like there, yeah, there were enough people there that there was like a sh a short line for things, but like nothing like Disney where you're waiting, you know, minimum 30 minutes.
- 7:51SPEAKER_01: It is funny though, because if there is a sort of a line you like, you do think to yourself, like, oh let's move on.
- 7:56SPEAKER_01: And I'm like, oh my god, I would have waited like 40 minutes for this at a Disney park.
- 7:59SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 8:00SPEAKER_01: Uh but it's a great it's such a great little place.
- 8:05SPEAKER_01: And it's to hear Eric's story too, so you gotta go listen to that podcast if you're interested, that him and his wife did so much of it just like out in the middle of winter, like putting like seashell imprints into the the concrete and things like that.
- 8:21SPEAKER_01: Um but like I said, it's it's divided into to various lambs.
- 8:25SPEAKER_01: Four lambs.
- 8:26SPEAKER_01: Four lambs.
- 8:27SPEAKER_02: A little bit a la like Avatar the Last Airbender, with with like the fire, fire, water, water, earth, and air.
- 8:36SPEAKER_01: And the air coaster was down.
- 8:39SPEAKER_02: That was down, but I wouldn't have gone on that anyway.
- 8:42SPEAKER_01: They did replace part of the track.
- 8:44SPEAKER_01: I s it's pretty good.
- 8:46SPEAKER_02: It's a great roller coaster.
- 8:47SPEAKER_02: If you like roller coasters, go on it.
- 8:49SPEAKER_02: Absolutely.
- 8:50SPEAKER_02: I just find as I'm aging, my tummy is a little more sensitive.
- 8:55SPEAKER_02: No, for real.
- 8:56SPEAKER_00: No, no, no, I no, I'm not gonna be.
- 8:57SPEAKER_02: When I was in high school, like stomach of steel.
- 9:00SPEAKER_00: Sure.
- 9:00SPEAKER_02: It took like I remember going to Six Flags Great America in Gurney and going on every single roller coaster, all the spinning things.
- 9:09SPEAKER_02: It wasn't until like the end of the day that I finally did something that made me a little nauseous.
- 9:15SPEAKER_02: Sure.
- 9:15SPEAKER_02: Now it happens a little sooner.
- 9:17SPEAKER_00: That's fair.
- 9:18SPEAKER_02: There are certain things I know I shouldn't do.
- 9:23SPEAKER_02: And spinning things, and that roller coaster.
- 9:27SPEAKER_01: Sure.
- 9:28SPEAKER_02: I I can't I can't do it unless it's the end of the day and I don't mind getting a little nauseous.
- 9:33SPEAKER_01: It does knock you around quite a bit, but I know that they replaced some of the track and and some of the reviews have been pretty positive, but although it wasn't open the entire day we were there.
- 9:41SPEAKER_02: No, well, I could see them working on it.
- 9:43SPEAKER_02: Yeah, but it's still like the very beginning of the season.
- 9:46SPEAKER_02: It is.
- 9:46SPEAKER_02: I know they just opened and they had a lot of issues because of the weather recently.
- 9:50SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it's been wacky.
- 9:52SPEAKER_02: So many storms.
- 9:52SPEAKER_02: We're in Tornado Alley now.
- 9:54SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that too.
- 9:55SPEAKER_02: Uh so I understand that part of it.
- 9:58SPEAKER_01: But as you when you walk into the park, you kind of get a full view of everything, which is so pretty.
- 10:03SPEAKER_02: Pretty the landscaping, beautiful.
- 10:05SPEAKER_01: Landscaping is gorgeous.
- 10:06SPEAKER_02: They didn't have to go off like that.
- 10:08SPEAKER_02: No.
- 10:08SPEAKER_02: With in a theme park with the landscaping.
- 10:11SPEAKER_01: But when you go off into each land, each land has its own musical motif as well.
- 10:16SPEAKER_01: That does change as you go land to land, of course.
- 10:20SPEAKER_01: Um, but in the fire realm, you have Volcano, you have I don't know what the one ride is that we never do.
- 10:26SPEAKER_02: Which one?
- 10:27SPEAKER_02: There's two of them in the fire land that we don't have.
- 10:29SPEAKER_01: Nero's Fury is the one that goes up.
- 10:31SPEAKER_01: Upside down the other one.
- 10:32SPEAKER_01: The other one I can't remember what that I don't do it because it's it just it's it's very um it gives like carnival ride vibes.
- 10:42SPEAKER_02: It's it's like a smaller ride, but it's like intense.
- 10:44SPEAKER_01: It is intense.
- 10:45SPEAKER_01: And then right next to that is Fire Runner, which is great.
- 10:48SPEAKER_02: And then Oh, there is one more in the Fire Land.
- 10:51SPEAKER_02: Oh, yeah.
- 10:52SPEAKER_02: The little coaster that spins.
- 10:54SPEAKER_02: And like you sit like you're on a motorbike.
- 10:55SPEAKER_01: I do love that.
- 10:56SPEAKER_02: I don't hate that one.
- 10:57SPEAKER_01: I do love that one.
- 10:58SPEAKER_02: It just spins.
- 10:59SPEAKER_01: It does spin.
- 11:00SPEAKER_02: I like it.
- 11:00SPEAKER_02: I've enjoyed it when I went on it.
- 11:02SPEAKER_01: Harper and I do it a lot.
- 11:05SPEAKER_01: But that is a great attraction as well.
- 11:07SPEAKER_02: That one is really fun.
- 11:08SPEAKER_01: And then there's Mantugani, which was down, which was running part of the day, and then we got in line and it broke down and it never seemed to reopen before we were.
- 11:19SPEAKER_01: And then I think we stopped by again in the show.
- 11:21SPEAKER_02: Oh, just kidding.
- 11:22SPEAKER_01: But it's a really cool launch coaster.
- 11:24SPEAKER_01: That's right.
- 11:24SPEAKER_02: That's so good.
- 11:25SPEAKER_02: I can't wait to go back out there just so we can go on that.
- 11:28SPEAKER_01: Um, then as you enter into the water realm area, there's uh Yucca Falls.
- 11:35SPEAKER_01: Is that what the name of that was?
- 11:37SPEAKER_02: Technically, I think that's in the earth area.
- 11:39SPEAKER_01: Is that in the earth area?
- 11:40SPEAKER_02: In the earth area, you've got to do it.
- 11:47SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 11:47SPEAKER_01: The green roller coaster is what we call it.
- 11:50SPEAKER_01: That's right, that is in the earth, yeah.
- 11:51SPEAKER_02: Uh and then the the lot like the flume ride.
- 11:55SPEAKER_01: Yeah, which looks like not open.
- 11:56SPEAKER_02: It wasn't open today.
- 11:57SPEAKER_02: It seemed like a lot of the water, like the fountains were down.
- 12:01SPEAKER_02: I think that ride was down.
- 12:03SPEAKER_02: They also have like a fun little bumper car.
- 12:07SPEAKER_02: Which we usually do when we're with Harper.
- 12:09SPEAKER_01: There's also a restaurant over there which we went to today.
- 12:12SPEAKER_02: They have two restaurants, like bigger like cafeteria style restaurants in the water area and in the earth area.
- 12:19SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and this one looks like the tree of life from Disney when you look at it from the outside.
- 12:23SPEAKER_01: It's really cool.
- 12:24SPEAKER_01: Um, but there's a burger I really like in there that has like pineapple.
- 12:28SPEAKER_02: Grilled pineapple and a mango habanero mayo.
- 12:31SPEAKER_01: And you got some chicken.
- 12:32SPEAKER_02: That's good.
- 12:32SPEAKER_02: I always get the little chicken bites.
- 12:34SPEAKER_02: The chicken bites.
- 12:34SPEAKER_02: They're like little popcorn chicken nuggies.
- 12:37SPEAKER_01: I love it.
- 12:38SPEAKER_01: I have this thing.
- 12:40SPEAKER_01: I don't know what it is, but I have this like thing about the theme park burger.
- 12:44SPEAKER_02: I know it's not like I love theme park chicken.
- 12:46SPEAKER_01: I know, I just don't know.
- 12:47SPEAKER_01: I it's like, it's not great.
- 12:49SPEAKER_01: It's like my cosmic race thing.
- 12:50SPEAKER_01: It's like it's good enough, and it's just like, ah, you're just there, so it's fun.
- 12:54SPEAKER_02: I just really love chicken lenders with a honey mustard dipping sauce.
- 12:59SPEAKER_00: That's fair.
- 13:00SPEAKER_02: It's uh and honestly, that started on the cruise.
- 13:02SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 13:03SPEAKER_02: I Disney Cruise Line honey mustard.
- 13:05SPEAKER_02: I don't know.
- 13:06SPEAKER_02: I don't know what it is about it, and I don't know if it's across the fleet or if it's just adventure specific, but there's some good stuff there.
- 13:13SPEAKER_01: Okay, good to know.
- 13:15SPEAKER_01: Um, and then as you kind of keep going, there is a little Dumbo esque.
- 13:21SPEAKER_02: Yeah, in the water area, there's like a little arcade.
- 13:24SPEAKER_02: You can just get behind like carnival games.
- 13:26SPEAKER_01: That's where the carousel is.
- 13:27SPEAKER_02: Another little food stand, there's another food stand which has like noodles.
- 13:30SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 13:31SPEAKER_02: Like ramen noodles.
- 13:32SPEAKER_01: Not ramen noodles, but there's also a play area back there, which is really nice.
- 13:36SPEAKER_01: Um the carousel, there's a few cups, there's another like this one like it's like technically a kiddie ride, but it's intense.
- 13:47SPEAKER_01: It's more intense than you wanted to.
- 13:49SPEAKER_01: I uh I remember last three night.
- 13:50SPEAKER_02: I went on it once and said absolutely not, and never again.
- 13:54SPEAKER_02: But it was filled with kids today.
- 13:55SPEAKER_02: They love it.
- 13:56SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I don't know.
- 13:58SPEAKER_01: Um and then, yeah, there's uh another.
- 14:02SPEAKER_02: There's like fish dumbo.
- 14:04SPEAKER_01: Yeah, there's fish dumbo, which are they fish or they octo- what is it?
- 14:07SPEAKER_02: They're they're little fishies.
- 14:08SPEAKER_01: Is it little fishies?
- 14:09SPEAKER_02: There's an octopus in the center.
- 14:10SPEAKER_02: Oh, maybe that's what it is.
- 14:11SPEAKER_02: But they're little fishies.
- 14:12SPEAKER_01: And then there's like a little a little boat ride.
- 14:15SPEAKER_02: Boat ride.
- 14:16SPEAKER_02: You have water guns.
- 14:17SPEAKER_01: It's like a miniature version if you've been following the epic universe uh stuff.
- 14:22SPEAKER_01: It's in the Isle of Burke.
- 14:23SPEAKER_01: They have a similar ride, but it's not much bigger.
- 14:26SPEAKER_01: It's the same kind of thing.
- 14:27SPEAKER_01: Um Isle of Burke also has that flyer ride that we went on too.
- 14:31SPEAKER_01: It's interesting.
- 14:32SPEAKER_01: But there's also uh another water area which was closed again, but then there was the whale bone, which is the other restaurant.
- 14:38SPEAKER_02: Yeah, similar menu, burgers, chicken, tenders, salads, wraps, fries.
- 14:45SPEAKER_01: In the air area, there's the sky, skyborn, the drop, and then the the swings, the the uh the fly.
- 14:54SPEAKER_02: I don't know how to describe the flyer.
- 14:57SPEAKER_01: I don't know either.
- 14:58SPEAKER_01: If you're you're in a you're like on an axis, and you can it goes up and then it goes down and it's great, is what it is.
- 15:10SPEAKER_01: Harper Harper's Harper does.
- 15:11SPEAKER_01: Harper does.
- 15:12SPEAKER_01: I have.
- 15:14SPEAKER_01: But and then that's where the air coaster is too.
- 15:16SPEAKER_01: But then beyond that, there is um this children's area, which is really, really cute.
- 15:21SPEAKER_02: And it has several has outgrown it.
- 15:23SPEAKER_02: She has I think even the first time we went, she was a little too big for it.
- 15:27SPEAKER_01: But that's the cool thing about Lost Island is it has these thrill rides, but then it has this whole area dedicated to the tiny people.
- 15:35SPEAKER_02: It's so family friendly.
- 15:37SPEAKER_01: And it's so cute.
- 15:38SPEAKER_01: There's like a little coaster in there, there's a little Ferris wheel and a playground, and just kind of the lore behind the park itself.
- 15:47SPEAKER_01: Harper was really into that.
- 15:49SPEAKER_01: Yes, and learning about all of the characters in the dictionary because there's like it's all there's a whole language that they've created for this.
- 15:56SPEAKER_02: She she bought a dictionary um and started memorizing it.
- 16:00SPEAKER_02: She was taking notes on the drive home.
- 16:02SPEAKER_01: Well, and they have um they don't have them there yet, but they have a troupe of actors that have inhabited these characters from these various realms that will uh walk around the park and tell you stories, and they do like a special nighttime uh show, if you want to call it that.
- 16:18SPEAKER_01: Um but it's really cool.
- 16:20SPEAKER_01: They didn't they don't have them there yet, but it's still awesome that this park in particular like still invests in live entertainment, which I think is important.
- 16:29SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 16:29SPEAKER_02: Um I think the only thing it's missing is like an actual live show.
- 16:34SPEAKER_02: Like they do like a little ceremony towards the end of the day, but I want to see like an original show with maybe some music.
- 16:43SPEAKER_02: Hey, you're a playwright, you you should talk about it.
- 16:46SPEAKER_01: I'll get a hold of Eric and be like, hey, listen.
- 16:48SPEAKER_01: Um I just think it's such a cool place that they're not depending upon IP, they're not depending upon, you know, uh they've literally created their own universe and their own world and their own characters and is very thorough, and it's so interesting, and the landscaping is beautiful.
- 17:08SPEAKER_01: It's just such a pretty park and it's so clean.
- 17:10SPEAKER_02: Oh we almost forgot.
- 17:13SPEAKER_01: What did we forget?
- 17:15SPEAKER_02: For our Disney fans out there, which I obviously, if you're listening to this podcast, if you're not a Disney fan, I'm sorry.
- 17:22SPEAKER_02: Like, why are you listening to this?
- 17:24SPEAKER_02: Um they have pineapple doll.
- 17:30SPEAKER_01: Oh yes, they do.
- 17:32SPEAKER_01: They do.
- 17:32SPEAKER_02: I I was calling it Dole Whip all day, and Tristan did correct me.
- 17:37SPEAKER_02: It's pineapple doll.
- 17:38SPEAKER_01: It is the their version.
- 17:40SPEAKER_02: Their version of pineapple doll whip.
- 17:42SPEAKER_02: And it's really lovely.
- 17:44SPEAKER_01: It is very good.
- 17:45SPEAKER_02: Um at that same quick service station, you can get a tower of donuts.
- 17:50SPEAKER_01: I have not done this yet.
- 17:51SPEAKER_02: Which we haven't done yet.
- 17:52SPEAKER_01: But I'm so curious about uh yeah, I need to do this donut thing.
- 17:56SPEAKER_01: I don't know what's going on here.
- 17:57SPEAKER_01: It looks good.
- 17:58SPEAKER_01: I saw somebody get that.
- 18:00SPEAKER_02: Um but we're always uh a Dole Whip kind of family.
- 18:03SPEAKER_01: Oh, of course.
- 18:04SPEAKER_01: Of course we are.
- 18:05SPEAKER_01: Um and then we we ended up doing Volcanu again.
- 18:09SPEAKER_01: I'm I I can't I'm just kind of obsessed with it.
- 18:12SPEAKER_01: I am too.
- 18:13SPEAKER_01: And every time I ride it, I find like new stuff.
- 18:15SPEAKER_01: Also, I think they've enhanced a few things as I was noticing there's some lighting enhancements.
- 18:19SPEAKER_01: But uh it's just such a brilliant dark ride.
- 18:22SPEAKER_01: It's so good.
- 18:23SPEAKER_01: There's a if you are so interactive.
- 18:26SPEAKER_01: If you're a Disney uh, you know, file and just kind of fanboy, fangirl, I'm sure you follow Jerendell.
- 18:33SPEAKER_01: And if you don't, go on um Instagram, Facebook, YouTube.
- 18:37SPEAKER_01: He went there last year.
- 18:38SPEAKER_01: He's a big Disney guy, but he managed to go to a bunch of the Midwest parks and he raves about Volcano.
- 18:46SPEAKER_01: It is such a neat.
- 18:47SPEAKER_01: I have a reel that's gonna go up about it soon, but it's just it's incredible from like start to finish.
- 18:51SPEAKER_01: It really, really is.
- 18:53SPEAKER_01: And something about Lost Island too is it's so clean, but also they're so safety conscious there.
- 18:59SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I I noticed even in the dark ride, like yeah, obviously with the roller coasters, like they're very thorough in their safety checks.
- 19:07SPEAKER_02: But like even more thorough than like any other theme park I've oh yeah.
- 19:10SPEAKER_02: But even on the dark ride, you know, to the average person, you may not think that it's a huge safety concern, you know.
- 19:19SPEAKER_02: It's not a roller coaster, it's not moving very fast, but like they are thorough in their checks.
- 19:24SPEAKER_02: They're making sure that like the little rope blocking off the line is secure.
- 19:28SPEAKER_02: They're checking all possible areas where a person could maybe run through.
- 19:33SPEAKER_01: I should mention it's also a trackless ride, which is crazy.
- 19:36SPEAKER_01: Is it really a trackless dark ride?
- 19:37SPEAKER_01: You did not notice that.
- 19:38SPEAKER_01: No, I didn't notice that.
- 19:39SPEAKER_01: It's a trackless dark ride in Iowa.
- 19:42SPEAKER_02: In Iowa.
- 19:43SPEAKER_02: Also, there's something to say um about the staff as well.
- 19:46SPEAKER_02: Everyone was so kind.
- 19:48SPEAKER_01: They're very, they're very nice.
- 19:49SPEAKER_02: They had a lot of energy.
- 19:51SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 19:52SPEAKER_02: Like they were just so like happy to be there.
- 19:54SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 19:55SPEAKER_01: And you went full on princess mode in the queue.
- 19:58SPEAKER_01: I did.
- 19:58SPEAKER_02: Well, there was a little girl behind us in the queue who was like about to cry because she it, you know, it's dark in there.
- 20:06SPEAKER_02: It it gives off spooky vibes.
- 20:08SPEAKER_02: She thought it was gonna be like a scary roller coaster.
- 20:10SPEAKER_02: And so since we've been on it before, it seemed like maybe the family hadn't been on it yet.
- 20:15SPEAKER_02: So I knelt down and I was like, hi, it's not scary at all.
- 20:19SPEAKER_02: Like you get a little blaster that has a colorful gem on it, and it's really, really fun.
- 20:25SPEAKER_02: I promise it's not scary at all.
- 20:27SPEAKER_02: And then we just started chit-chatting, and she was so cute.
- 20:31SPEAKER_02: I wanted to be like, I work for Mickey Mouse, but I didn't.
- 20:36SPEAKER_01: Um but yeah, Lost Island, Waterloo, Iowa.
- 20:40SPEAKER_01: If you're in the Quad City area, which I know some of you are, it's only two hours from here.
- 20:44SPEAKER_02: It's such an halfway there or halfway back, there's a Trader Joe's.
- 20:49SPEAKER_01: There's a Trader Joe's, yes.
- 20:50SPEAKER_01: So yeah, you know what.
- 20:53SPEAKER_02: It's a win-win-win.
- 20:54SPEAKER_01: Those of you that are like avid listeners, you know this thing I have with this blueberry muffin.
- 20:59SPEAKER_01: I talked about it on a couple of uh an episode a couple weeks ago when Sean and I were talking about I don't know, what's your art of animation with blueberry muffins?
- 21:07SPEAKER_01: Yes, okay.
- 21:08SPEAKER_01: And I how I've not been able to find an equivalent.
- 21:11SPEAKER_01: Well, by golly, I took a bite of this muffin from Trader Joe's, and I think I might have found it.
- 21:16SPEAKER_02: Wow.
- 21:16SPEAKER_01: So that's exciting.
- 21:18SPEAKER_01: Uh but yes, Lost Island.
- 21:19SPEAKER_01: You gotta go check it out.
- 21:20SPEAKER_01: Only two hours from here.
- 21:21SPEAKER_01: If you're interested, like I said, go listen to my interview with Eric.
- 21:26SPEAKER_02: Uh they also have a water park.
- 21:28SPEAKER_01: Yes, and that's not open yet.
- 21:29SPEAKER_02: That's not open.
- 21:30SPEAKER_02: It opens June 5th, I believe, the sign said.
- 21:32SPEAKER_02: So like you can make a weekend of it.
- 21:34SPEAKER_01: Absolutely you can.
- 21:36SPEAKER_02: Road trip.
- 21:36SPEAKER_02: Go do both.
- 21:38SPEAKER_02: Or it works as a day trip too.
- 21:40SPEAKER_02: We've done it, you know, we're performers.
- 21:42SPEAKER_02: We usually work on weekends, but we don't work until later.
- 21:45SPEAKER_02: And we've totally been more than capable of like getting up, going to the park, going on everything at least once.
- 21:56SPEAKER_01: It's easy because unfortunately, because the crowds are not Chaotic.
- 22:01SPEAKER_01: You can usually do everything multiple times, but you should support it because it's really cool to see something at the at its beginning.
- 22:07SPEAKER_01: Everyone knows I'm like obsessed with that aspect of things.
- 22:11SPEAKER_02: Because this place is gonna blow up.
- 22:13SPEAKER_01: It is gonna blow up.
- 22:14SPEAKER_01: I really do believe that because it's so good and it's too cool not to.
- 22:18SPEAKER_02: But what I was saying is it's you are more than capable of doing a day trip.
- 22:22SPEAKER_01: Oh, absolutely.
- 22:23SPEAKER_02: Like we've uh today we only really spent, you know, three hours there, but we felt fulfilled.
- 22:29SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and there's certain things that like I would do with Harper that I won't do with you.
- 22:34SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 22:34SPEAKER_02: When we're like together, all the three of us with a child, yeah.
- 22:38SPEAKER_02: Uh there we'll do more.
- 22:40SPEAKER_01: And the coasters were just down, so that was a bummer.
- 22:42SPEAKER_01: But um, you need to go check it out.
- 22:44SPEAKER_01: It's well worth it.
- 22:45SPEAKER_01: And special thanks to Amy and Eric for setting us up with tickets for today in full disclosure.
- 22:52SPEAKER_01: We were there with media passes, uh, which was so cool.
- 22:56SPEAKER_02: But even if we weren't, we'd still be anything about it.
- 22:59SPEAKER_01: The thing is, I'll go anyway, and I'll go again.
- 23:01SPEAKER_02: We already have plans to go again.
- 23:02SPEAKER_01: I'll go again.
- 23:03SPEAKER_01: So go check it out.
- 23:04SPEAKER_01: Um you mentioned the little girl and the Disney princess.
- 23:09SPEAKER_01: Our nephew was not as interested in you as Cinderella than he was.
- 23:15SPEAKER_02: I don't well, to be fair, he didn't realize it was me.
- 23:18SPEAKER_02: I just it's out of context.
- 23:20SPEAKER_02: You just brought up an entirely.
- 23:22SPEAKER_01: Sorry, that's my ADHD brain, everybody.
- 23:26SPEAKER_02: I saw this our niece and nephew yesterday.
- 23:29SPEAKER_02: They're used to this, and uh I showed my nephew a picture of my very good friend Cinderella.
- 23:35SPEAKER_02: And he went, uh, where's Mickey Mouse?
- 23:39SPEAKER_02: And I said, You don't want to see Cinderella?
- 23:42SPEAKER_02: And he said, I don't like princesses.
- 23:46SPEAKER_02: He's what, four?
- 23:47SPEAKER_02: Three?
- 23:48SPEAKER_02: Four?
- 23:50SPEAKER_02: Three and a half?
- 23:51SPEAKER_01: Four?
- 23:52SPEAKER_01: He will be four.
- 23:53SPEAKER_01: What year is it right now?
- 23:54SPEAKER_02: Oh, he will be four this year.
- 23:57SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 23:58SPEAKER_02: He got he was born right after we got married.
- 23:59SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 24:00SPEAKER_01: I was trying to think of what year it was.
- 24:02SPEAKER_02: So yeah, three and a half.
- 24:04SPEAKER_02: Doesn't care about princesses.
- 24:06SPEAKER_02: Um so he he wanted to see my pictures with Mickey Mouse, and then he said, Where's Minnie?
- 24:10SPEAKER_02: Where's Goofy?
- 24:11SPEAKER_02: Where's Pluto?
- 24:12SPEAKER_02: And I was like, Ah, I don't have a picture of Pluto.
- 24:14SPEAKER_02: Sorry.
- 24:15SPEAKER_02: I gotta change that.
- 24:16SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 24:16SPEAKER_02: I gotta find Pluto the next time I'm there.
- 24:18SPEAKER_01: You should.
- 24:19SPEAKER_01: But we'll talk about adventure stuff more because I think there's more to talk about.
- 24:25SPEAKER_01: But like we said before, go check out Lost Island.
- 24:28SPEAKER_02: It's so good, it's so worth it.
- 24:30SPEAKER_02: And I'm just lovely.
- 24:32SPEAKER_02: I really want to see this place succeed.
- 24:33SPEAKER_01: I do too.
- 24:34SPEAKER_01: It's just such a lovely place.
- 24:35SPEAKER_01: So go check it out and then let me know what you thought.
- 24:37SPEAKER_02: Hell yeah.
- 24:39SPEAKER_01: But thank you for joining me, Sevena.
- 24:42SPEAKER_02: What?
- 24:42SPEAKER_02: How do you say my seven-a?
- 24:45SPEAKER_01: Sevena.
- 24:45SPEAKER_02: I think you uh treat song.
- 24:48SPEAKER_01: Oh I don't know.
- 24:51SPEAKER_01: Anyway, thank you all for listening, and we will see you next week.
