- Lucas: Velkommen tilbage to Learn Danish with Fexingo. I'm Lucas. Luna: And I'm Luna. Hey Lucas, I've been settling into my new apartment, and I realized I don't know the Danish words for my furniture. Lucas: Oh, that's a perfect topic for today! Let's start with some basic pieces. The first one is 'bord' — table. Luna: Bord. That sounds like 'board' in English, kind of. Lucas: Exactly. So if you want to say 'a table', it's 'et bord'. Listen: et bord. Luna: Et bord. Lucas: Perfect. And 'chair' is 'stol' — 'en stol'. Luna: En stol. So 'en' for chair, 'et' for table. I remember from earlier episodes — en is common gender, et is neuter. Lucas: You've got it. Now, 'bed' in Danish is 'seng' — 'en seng'. Luna: En seng. That sounds cozy. Lucas: And finally, 'sofa' — it's the same in Danish, just pronounced a bit differently: 'sofa' — 'en sofa'. Luna: En sofa. Easy one. Lucas: Let's use them in sentences. Jeg har et bord. Jeg har en stol. Jeg har en seng. Jeg har en sofa. Luna: Jeg har et bord. Jeg har en stol. Jeg har en seng. Jeg har en sofa. I have a table, a chair, a bed, and a sofa. Lucas: Exactly. And if you want to say 'the table', it's 'bordet', 'the chair' is 'stolen', 'the bed' is 'sengen', 'the sofa' is 'sofaen'. Luna: Bordet, stolen, sengen, sofaen. That's the definite form. Lucas: Right. So 'Bordet er stort' — the table is big. Or 'Stolen er lille' — the chair is small. Luna: Bordet er stort. Stolen er lille. I love that we can reuse adjectives from before. Lucas: Absolutely. Now, let's do a quick scene. Imagine you walk into your living room. What do you see? Luna: Jeg ser en sofa. Sofaen er grøn. Lucas: Oh, green sofa! Nice. And in the dining room? Luna: Jeg ser et bord og en stol. Bordet er stort. Lucas: Perfekt. And in the bedroom? Luna: Jeg ser en seng. Sengen er hvid. Lucas: Great job. Now, before we go further, if Fexingo has been helping you make actual progress with Danish, you can support the show at buy me a coffee dot com slash fexingo. A couple of dollars a month genuinely keeps these episodes ad-free and coming. Luna: Yeah, it really helps. And we appreciate every bit of support. Okay, back to furniture. How about asking where something is? Lucas: Good idea. Hvor er stolen? — Where is the chair? Luna: Hvor er stolen? Stolen er i køkkenet. Lucas: Perfect. And Hvor er sengen? Luna: Sengen er i soveværelset. Lucas: You're already using room vocabulary from earlier episodes. Fantastic. Luna: It's all coming together. Let me practice the phrases one more time: et bord, en stol, en seng, en sofa. Bordet, stolen, sengen, sofaen. Lucas: Excellent. And don't forget to put them in sentences. Jeg har et bord. Jeg har en stol. Luna: Jeg har et bord. Jeg har en stol. Jeg har en seng. Jeg har en sofa. Lucas: Perfect. That's all for today. Practice these words, and next time you're in your living room, try naming the furniture in Danish. Luna: Tak, Lucas. Vi ses næste gang! Lucas: Ja, vi ses! Keep practicing with Fexingo.
