Speaker 5: Well, when I leave here, I'm going to uh beat
• 2:47
Speaker 5: my brains out and work out. Okay, to work out.
• 2:51
  Speaker 5: I didn't think I needed to come with a pretty
• 2:53
Speaker 5: blouse and matching pants, all right, So.
• 2:56
Speaker 4: What's the workout routine for Milli Snyder love.
• 2:58
Speaker 5: Well, it's the various thing. I go to Nautilus in
• 3:02
Speaker 5: Kenos City and I work with a trainer and he
• 3:05
Speaker 5: puts me through a very rigorous half an hour and
• 3:08
Speaker 5: I do a variety of things and I love it.
• 3:11
Speaker 5: And I've been going most of this year twice a week,
• 3:15
Speaker 5: sometimes three times a week. And I also think that
• 3:19
Speaker 5: being physically active no matter how old you are. And
• 3:25
Speaker 5: I am beginning to get older, although I'm in heavy
• 3:28
  Speaker 5: denial about that.
• 3:29
Speaker 4: Well you're early as old as you feel.
• 3:31
  Speaker 5: Well, that's true. And I think I feel like i'm
• 3:33
  Speaker 5: fifty one.
• 3:33
Speaker 4: Well there you go.
• 3:34
Speaker 5: So I don't know what fifty one felt like, but
• 3:36
Speaker 5: it was. But I'm very grateful for the way that
• 3:39
Speaker 5: I eat. I'm very grateful for my ability to exercise.
• 3:44
Speaker 5: And I have some very very exciting things happening next week. Okay,
• 3:48
Speaker 5: as many people know, I wasn't born in Charleston, albeit
• 3:51
Speaker 5: a Charleston is my home.
• 3:53
Speaker 4: Got here's fastly as fastly, got here as quickly as
• 3:55
Speaker 4: you could, they say, right.
• 3:57
Speaker 5: Yes, And that was nineteen sixty nine. So I'm here
• 4:01
Speaker 5: a very long time, thank goodness. And next week I'll
• 4:04
Speaker 5: be in Baltimore and I'm attending my sixty fifth high
• 4:09
Speaker 5: school reunion. Wow, I'm going to find out how many
• 4:12
Speaker 5: of us across the line and actually made it. No,
• 4:17
Speaker 5: it's going to be exciting.
• 4:18
Speaker 4: I mean, if you crossed the line and actually made.
• 4:20
Speaker 5: Across the line to still being alive.
• 4:22
Speaker 4: Okay, that's that's such an eloquent way to put him.
• 4:25
  Speaker 4: I'm sure.
• 4:26
  Speaker 7: Yes.
• 4:27
Speaker 4: Well, I mean, so I've attended most of my high
• 4:32
Speaker 4: school reunions. It was actually on the committee for a
• 4:35
Speaker 4: few of them. And you know, high school reunions, it
• 4:37
Speaker 4: seems like they're not what they used to be, mainly
• 4:39
Speaker 4: because of Facebook, because people keep up with who they
• 4:41
Speaker 4: want to keep up with. But do you have that's
• 4:43
Speaker 4: very true? Do you have a good? Yeah? I mean
• 4:45
Speaker 4: because I say that because when I had my ten
• 4:46
Speaker 4: year high school reunion, the DJ that we hired said
• 4:49
Speaker 4: it was the best one he'd ever had because as
• 4:51
Speaker 4: far as the amount of people that came, I mean
• 4:53
Speaker 4: we had, I mean, you know, it's hundreds of people
• 4:56
Speaker 4: that showed up, counting spouses and so on and so forth.
• 4:59
Speaker 4: And then the last one we had, we had approximately
• 5:01
Speaker 4: fifteen or twenty that shown up. And so how is
• 5:06
Speaker 4: yours I would send.
• 5:08
Speaker 5: When we graduated June nineteen sixty, which was right after
• 5:13
Speaker 5: Columbus arrived here. But nonetheless we were a year of
• 5:18
Speaker 5: five hundred and seventy three people. Okay, so I have
• 5:21
Speaker 5: a lot of things to see when we have this.
• 5:24
Speaker 5: It's a luncheon on next saturd.
• 5:26
Speaker 4: Of the ninety. See, I'm trying to picture Millie Snyder
• 5:28
Speaker 4: in high school. I mean, were you popular, you in
• 5:31
Speaker 4: the band, cheerleader, none of.
• 5:34
Speaker 5: The above, None of the above, And what I was
• 5:36
Speaker 5: doing at that time of my life. I was fighting
• 5:39
Speaker 5: my weight then, and I was morbidly obese at my graduation,
• 5:45
Speaker 5: and morbidly obese means the numbers were very high, and
• 5:48
Speaker 5: sadly for me because I wanted to lose weight. But
• 5:53
Speaker 5: in that time of my life, the only things that
• 5:55
Speaker 5: were available, Dave were diet pills or starving counting calories,
• 6:01
Speaker 5: and I tried everything and nothing worked. So for my graduation,
• 6:08
Speaker 5: which was June sixty, in order to wear a white dress,
• 6:14
Speaker 5: my seamstress and not my seamstress, but the seamtress that
• 6:19
Speaker 5: my mother my sister used, actually had to make my
• 6:22
Speaker 5: dress really and it was that painful. Yes, and so
• 6:27
Speaker 5: I can relate with people who are struggling. And that's
• 6:31
Speaker 5: why I have been so proud to have been the
• 6:36
Speaker 5: gal who brought weight Watchers to West Virginia. And then
• 6:39
Speaker 5: when all of that changed because I sold back to
• 6:43
Speaker 5: the company in twenty thirteen, three years later, I wanted
• 6:47
Speaker 5: to keep doing what I do, which is very simply
• 6:50
Speaker 5: help people help themselves. So I represent the Mediterranean lifestyle
• 6:55
Speaker 5: and it is getting more and more respect, not just
• 6:59
Speaker 5: from the users, but from the medical community. And if
• 7:03
Speaker 5: people say, well, I don't want to do it because
• 7:06
Speaker 5: I don't like homess and don't eat homss. And if
• 7:09
  Speaker 5: I don't want to do it because there's a particular
• 7:12
Speaker 5: thing that you don't like, don't eat that particular thing,
• 7:16
Speaker 5: but come to the group, enjoy a group. Support Weight
• 7:22
Speaker 5: loss right now is taking everybody by storm with the GLP,
• 7:27
Speaker 5: and there are also a lot of knockoffs for that
• 7:29
Speaker 5: particular drug. We still have to learn how to eat
• 7:33
Speaker 5: at somewhere in this whole puzzle. We have to make
• 7:39
Speaker 5: peace with the fact that we need to eat healthfully
• 7:43
Speaker 5: so that we can continue to live our life. And
• 7:46
Speaker 5: Mediterranean eating is old, tried and true and it's safe,
• 7:52
Speaker 5: so I am happy to say that we change locations.
• 7:55
Speaker 5: We're over at Trinity Evangelical.
• 7:58
Speaker 4: This is your meetings you're talking about.
• 8:00
Speaker 5: Every Thursday, we do a morning and an evening, tenth
• 8:03
Speaker 5: in the morning, five point thirty in the evening and
• 8:07
Speaker 5: group support makes the difference. The program is fabulous. We
• 8:10
Speaker 5: have lots of success happening well. We now have a
• 8:13
Speaker 5: presence on Facebook and if anybody wants to look it up,
• 8:17
Speaker 5: just put in Mediterranean mindset and join us. Come and
• 8:22
Speaker 5: find out what we're all about.
• 8:23
Speaker 4: But Dave Alan showing five eighty Live is brought to
• 8:25
Speaker 4: you parted by Morgan to Morgan, America's largest injury law firm.
• 8:28
Speaker 4: If you're injured, visit for the People dot com. I
• 8:30
Speaker 4: want to ask you. There's been a lot in the
• 8:32
Speaker 4: news here nearly lately about the battles over insurance, you
• 8:36
Speaker 4: know in West Virginia, Peia, but also insurance issues across
• 8:39
Speaker 4: the country. And one of the things that always gets
• 8:42
Speaker 4: brought up is the battle over some of these drugs
• 8:45
Speaker 4: you talked about. Now, I would imagine that for some
• 8:49
  Speaker 4: it's a double edged sword. I mean, if you're sitting
• 8:51
Speaker 4: back and listening to the discussion about this because on
• 8:54
Speaker 4: one hand, you've you devoted your life to making people healthy,
• 8:59
Speaker 4: first weight watchers, now the Mediterranean living and the class
• 9:01
Speaker 4: and so on and so forth, and we, I guess
• 9:04
Speaker 4: we realized that some people truly need these medications. But
• 9:08
Speaker 4: I would imagine not trying to get into your head here,
• 9:10
Speaker 4: but I would imagine that you kind of approach this
• 9:13
Speaker 4: a little bit differently, because while you want people to
• 9:16
  Speaker 4: be healthy, I don't know that you Here's what I've
• 9:18
Speaker 4: learned from you. I don't know that you think that
• 9:20
Speaker 4: you want to make some of these drugs more readily
• 9:23
Speaker 4: available to people just to lose weight.
• 9:25
Speaker 5: I do not, because I've seen it happen time and
• 9:28
Speaker 5: time again, and at the end of the drug experience,
• 9:33
Speaker 5: they're in the same place. Right, nothing has changed. I
• 9:37
Speaker 5: haven't learned what I need to learn, and as a
• 9:39
Speaker 5: result of that, I'm back at square one. I mean,
• 9:43
Speaker 5: I've watched I remember the days of finfin, and then
• 9:47
Speaker 5: a new drug came along.
• 9:48
Speaker 4: I've heard in a while I forgot about that one.
• 9:50
Speaker 5: Oh, I've been forgotten about it. The lawsuits were raging
• 9:53
Speaker 5: across not just West Virginia. They were raising raging across
• 9:57
Speaker 5: the country, and at that time time, no one came
• 10:01
Speaker 5: to weight watchers because they believed the cure, the magic
• 10:06
Speaker 5: had come. However, we also learned that it created mitrio
• 10:10
Speaker 5: valve heart dysfunction. There was another drug that was because
• 10:15
Speaker 5: the other drug was making too much money, so somebody
• 10:17
Speaker 5: came up with reducts and that created primary pulmonary hypertension.
• 10:22
Speaker 5: And once you developed those maladies, they didn't go away.
• 10:26
Speaker 5: That you were stuck with them. Now, no one needs
• 10:29
Speaker 5: to be faulted. What did they want to have happened?
• 10:32
Speaker 5: They wanted to lose weight ageah, but they didn't want
• 10:35
Speaker 5: to now be sick as a result of that. And
• 10:38
Speaker 5: I have to tell you, during that period, many people
• 10:41
Speaker 5: lost their life because their bodies weren't healthy enough to
• 10:45
Speaker 5: sustain the injury that was occurring.
• 10:48
Speaker 4: And now we're seeing it with these new drugs. And
• 10:49
  Speaker 4: I don't you can't watch the you can't watch your
• 10:52
Speaker 4: TV news at night in a network or whatever that
• 10:55
Speaker 4: you're not constantly bombarded with these with these ads for
• 10:58
  Speaker 4: these things.
• 10:58
Speaker 5: And that's because there's a lot of money behind that.
• 11:01
Speaker 5: And the money is I'm not We're not talking a
• 11:04
Speaker 5: few hundred dollars. Oh yeah, we're talking millions, millions, and
• 11:08
Speaker 5: one of the one of the companies I saw on
• 11:10
Speaker 5: the internet just laid off nine thousand people because there
• 11:15
Speaker 5: are so many generics coming down the pipe, right.
• 11:19
Speaker 4: And I have been a big believer in this uh
• 11:22
Speaker 4: And you can agree or disagree, and listeners can agree
• 11:24
  Speaker 4: or disagree.
• 11:25
  Speaker 8: I have.
• 11:25
  Speaker 4: I've always been a believer that there's never there's never
• 11:28
Speaker 4: been a problem that that throwing more and more medicine
• 11:34
Speaker 4: at is the answer. Now, some people obviously have to
• 11:36
Speaker 4: have certain medications. I get that, of course, but no
• 11:41
Speaker 4: matter what the problem is, I mean, if you want
• 11:44
Speaker 4: to be one of these people, I mean, I've seen people,
• 11:46
  Speaker 4: and I know you've seen them. You've got friends, I've
• 11:48
Speaker 4: had family members and so on and so worth that
• 11:50
Speaker 4: their life revolves around pills. Their life revolves around going
• 11:54
Speaker 4: to this time. There's so many things that that we
• 11:56
Speaker 4: and I'm as guilty as anybody for not adhering to
• 11:58
Speaker 4: it sometimes, but there's so many things that we can do.
• 12:01
Speaker 4: They'll keep you out of the doctor's office, and we'll
• 12:03
Speaker 4: keep these poisons out of your body because a lot
• 12:05
Speaker 4: of them, quite frankly, are are deadly to the body.
• 12:09
Speaker 5: Absolutely, and especially this weight loss a drug that is
• 12:12
Speaker 5: in all the glps. It actually begins with the gea
• 12:16
Speaker 5: monster and they've taken the poison from that and re
• 12:20
Speaker 5: manufactured it into something that's not toxic, but it's the
• 12:25
Speaker 5: element that creates the sensation of not being hungry. And
• 12:30
Speaker 5: I'm very frightened for all of these things. In the
• 12:33
Speaker 5: years of my life, as I tried to lose weight,
• 12:36
Speaker 5: I went from one bariatric doctor to the other. And
• 12:40
Speaker 5: while I'm not proud to tell you this, I was
• 12:42
Speaker 5: forced to go to the first bariatric doctor when I
• 12:46
Speaker 5: was eleven years old because my family called me some
• 12:50
Speaker 5: very unpleasant names and I was, as I said, I'm
• 12:53
Speaker 5: repeating myself, eleven years old. So what did I learn?
• 12:56
Speaker 5: I took pills, and then when they didn't come up
• 13:00
Speaker 5: with that money for the refill, which was every week,
• 13:04
Speaker 5: I hadn't learned anything except to take the pills. Not
• 13:07
Speaker 5: only did I gain back the few that I lost,
• 13:09
Speaker 5: but I put on more. And that was the story
• 13:11
Speaker 5: of my life until until I have had to grow up.
• 13:16
Speaker 5: And I went to weight Watchers, but I didn't want
• 13:19
Speaker 5: to go because I really wanted to prove weight watchers
• 13:22
Speaker 5: wrong and I didn't need failure alongside of my name
• 13:26
Speaker 5: for yet another time, so I fought going. However, it
• 13:31
Speaker 5: changed my life all right.
• 13:32
Speaker 4: Now you're changing lives every day, So let's get back
• 13:34
Speaker 4: to your classes. Before we let you go, remind people
• 13:37

• 17:14
Speaker 4: isn't deadly, but you're right, those cancer patients don't need
• 17:17
Speaker 4: to take drugs. That's just not the cure. Huh No.
• 17:21
Speaker 4: What I'm saying is is that as a society, we
• 17:24
Speaker 4: push medicine on everything. And if you listen to what
• 17:27
Speaker 4: I said, I did not say that, no one that
• 17:29
Speaker 4: people never needed to take medicine. Sometimes they're necessary. I
• 17:33
Speaker 4: said that I don't know that the way our society
• 17:38
Speaker 4: constantly wants to throw medicine. Oh you got this, You
• 17:40
Speaker 4: take a pill for it. You take a pill for this,
• 17:42
Speaker 4: you take a pill for that. It's it's absolutely ridiculous.
• 17:45
Speaker 4: And so many of those things. I'm not talking about cancer,
• 17:48
Speaker 4: but so many of those things can be avoided and
• 17:52
Speaker 4: go off of it because it's poison. That's what I'm
• 17:54
Speaker 4: talking about. Steve Animal, Yes, why are you here in
• 17:57
  Speaker 4: my studio? Uh?
• 17:58
  Speaker 10: You invited?
• 17:59
  Speaker 11: Oh?
• 18:00
Speaker 4: Trial, ok at. Dave Rutgers also here. Fall Y'all's coming
• 18:02
Speaker 4: up here pretty soon in Saint Alban's. Dave Rucker, welcome
• 18:04
Speaker 4: to the show. Thank you for having us, appreciate being here.
• 18:06
Speaker 4: All right, so when and where give us the Well,
• 18:09
Speaker 4: we'll get to that first.
• 18:10
Speaker 12: October fourth, twelve to six o'clock, Main Street, Saint Albans.
• 18:14
Speaker 4: All right, And for those that aren't familiar with it,
• 18:16
Speaker 4: to explain what fall y'all is, fall.
• 18:18
Speaker 12: Y'all is a group that just aims mainly to bring
• 18:22
Speaker 12: a better, safer Saint Albans community. We do couple fundraiser events.
• 18:26
Speaker 12: We do our fall y'all Chili cook Off in the
• 18:28
Speaker 12: spring and we do a dog Bowl and I'm sorry
• 18:31
Speaker 12: chili cook off in the fall and a dog Ball
• 18:32
Speaker 12: in the spring, and all of our proceeds go to
• 18:36
Speaker 12: supporting the Saint Albans Police Department Canine Unit and then
• 18:39
Speaker 12: to local youth and education and initiatives that are within
• 18:42
Speaker 12: the city of Saint Albans.
• 18:43
Speaker 4: Talk about some of the things that you do with
• 18:45
Speaker 4: the with the with the utes. As rush Lumball used
• 18:47
  Speaker 4: to say.
• 18:48
Speaker 12: Well, we all started with safety. Community and getting at
• 18:52
Speaker 12: them at a young age is what creates the best community.
• 18:56
Speaker 12: So we try and and get involved with the school programs,
• 18:59
Speaker 12: education programs, things that are happening in the schools. We
• 19:02
Speaker 12: help to support those other organizations that are outside of
• 19:06
Speaker 12: the schools a little bit too. For example, the Star
• 19:09
Speaker 12: Club program is an after school program. They provide tutoring.
• 19:13
Speaker 12: They have paid tutors that are there to help the
• 19:15
Speaker 12: students that are teachers. They have a nutrition program which
• 19:19
Speaker 12: is a snack provided, and they also have a community
• 19:23
Speaker 12: involvement program where they get involved with like community gardens
• 19:27
Speaker 12: things like that. So they're they're teaching them all sorts
• 19:31
Speaker 12: of things there and then it provides a safe space
• 19:34
Speaker 12: for the kids to be after school. Some of the
• 19:36
Speaker 12: parents might work till six o'clock, Well they can be
• 19:38
Speaker 12: at Star Club with their peers, with adults supervision. They're safe,
• 19:43
Speaker 12: they're learning, they're fed, and they're giving back to their community.
• 19:47
Speaker 12: And then we also do like Project Graduation, a safe
• 19:50
Speaker 12: alcohol free party for our celebration for the graduating seniors
• 19:56
Speaker 12: that are going to be going on and we're trying
• 19:58
Speaker 12: to make sure that they find our next journey safe
• 20:01
Speaker 12: and healthy rather than in tragedy.
• 20:03
Speaker 4: And this is all as far as the amount of
• 20:06
Speaker 4: people that come out to this thing. I'm there every year,
• 20:08
Speaker 4: you know, along with Steve and the folks at the Mountains.
• 20:11
Speaker 4: You put a whole lot of people on Old Man.
• 20:13
Speaker 12: We do it gets crowded sometimes and you know, we
• 20:17
Speaker 12: everybody comes out enjoys it. It's a great time. The
• 20:20
Speaker 12: chili's out there, the vendors are out there. You know,
• 20:22
Speaker 12: we don't know exactly how many, but a couple thousand
• 20:26
  Speaker 12: probably the.
• 20:27
Speaker 4: Day, every bit of because people kind of drift in
• 20:29
Speaker 4: and out, you know. Yeah. Yeah, music too.
• 20:32
Speaker 10: The Groove Brothers are going to be planned.
• 20:34
Speaker 12: The Groove Brothers are an Almand Brothers tribute band. They'll
• 20:37
Speaker 12: take the stage at four o'clock. At two o'clock will
• 20:40
Speaker 12: be Anderson Road Band, and at twelve thirty will be
• 20:43
Speaker 12: the heavy hitters. Also, we're talking about the youth. You know,
• 20:45
Speaker 12: these kids take a standardized test every year at twelve
• 20:48
Speaker 12: o'clock to start things off. We'll recognize called Mastery on
• 20:52
Speaker 12: Main Street. So we'll recognize all those kids who obtain
• 20:55
Speaker 12: Mastery level in their their learning in the classroom on
• 20:58
Speaker 12: those tests. So they'll be wreckingcognize. Their parents will get
• 21:01
Speaker 12: to come out and see them walk across the stage,
• 21:04
Speaker 12: have a great time. Chili cookers. We got eighteen of
• 21:06
Speaker 12: them out there right now, and we want more.
• 21:09
Speaker 4: How many is I mean?
• 21:13
  Speaker 13: Eight?
• 21:13
Speaker 4: Okay? My goal is always judge. Last year was myself
• 21:17
Speaker 4: and Brian Brian Hughes. Who else was there? Eric Eric
• 21:22
Speaker 4: Nelson was one of the judges.
• 21:23
Speaker 12: And Jay Silverman. Yeah, and now our judges this year
• 21:27
Speaker 12: we have Mary Lee mccallaugh. We have Rob Real, Stephen
• 21:30
Speaker 12: Keith and j Silman. So I've been bumped as a judge.
• 21:34
Speaker 2: Here comes to judge.
• 21:35
Speaker 4: You want to come judge, Come on, you need to
• 21:37
Speaker 4: have different people every year.
• 21:39
Speaker 12: That's what our real We had some complaint of the
• 21:43
Speaker 12: same winners the same year, so that's.
• 21:45
Speaker 4: Why I will say the way that these things work
• 21:48
Speaker 4: is that we we don't uh, the judges don't know
• 21:51
Speaker 4: who we're judging. We just get a number. That's the
• 21:53
Speaker 4: way that the you know, the chili competitions go. And
• 21:56
Speaker 4: so all we get is number seventeen, and we you know,
• 21:58
Speaker 4: would write down you know too salty needs more salt.
• 22:02
Speaker 12: You know, completely unbiased.
• 22:04
Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, so that that way. We don't know, But
• 22:07
Speaker 4: I agree, I think you and I'm gonna be down
• 22:09
Speaker 4: there with Steve anyway, but but I do believe that
• 22:12
Speaker 4: that you you do need to have different judges every year.
• 22:14
Speaker 12: And that's what give everybody a chance to win, you know,
• 22:17
Speaker 12: a different taste palette there, so different people might win.
• 22:20
Speaker 4: Yeah, exactly, And where can people Because you said you'd
• 22:23
Speaker 4: like you got about eighteen, now you'd like to have
• 22:25
Speaker 4: about thirty. Do you have Look before I get to
• 22:27
Speaker 4: how you can sign up? Do you have different levels
• 22:29
Speaker 4: of chilliers at all together? We don't.
• 22:31
Speaker 12: So we're not a sanctioned competition, so we don't have
• 22:34
Speaker 12: to separate it out. You know, you you bring your
• 22:36
Speaker 12: favorite chilier. You have green chili, if you have homestyle chili,
• 22:40
Speaker 12: if you like beans or not beans, there's no it's
• 22:42
  Speaker 12: it's a it's a one for all winnings. Now you
• 22:46
Speaker 12: get five hundred dollars for first place, three yeah, three
• 22:50
Speaker 12: hundred for second place, two hundred for third place, and
• 22:53
Speaker 12: then People's Choice gets one hundred, one hundred bucks. The
• 22:56
Speaker 12: People's Choice. That's the folks come out and tasting. So
• 22:59
Speaker 12: when you come to buy your tickets, you can buy
• 23:02
Speaker 12: one ticket for a dollar, or you can buy twelve
• 23:04
Speaker 12: tickets for ten dollars. When you buy the ten dollars,
• 23:06
Speaker 12: you also get the option to be one of the
• 23:10
Speaker 12: community judges. Okay, you come through, you drop your voting
• 23:14
Speaker 12: system into their bucket, and you're recognizing them as your favorite,
• 23:19
Speaker 12: so you come out and taste. You can also be
• 23:21
Speaker 12: one of those judges that are just walking around the
• 23:24
Speaker 12: street in the community.
• 23:26
Speaker 10: People's Choice, So you can also check out the Facebook page.
• 23:29
Speaker 10: So there's a lot of great pictures from hers past.
• 23:31
Speaker 10: But yeah, we need twelve more chili.
• 23:34
Speaker 4: All right, and this would be good for you know,
• 23:36
Speaker 4: and I've seen and I've done a lot of these
• 23:37
Speaker 4: chili competitions in the past. You know, sometimes you'll see individuals,
• 23:41
Speaker 4: but sometimes it's a great what's the word on looking
• 23:44
Speaker 4: for great networking thing, great team building thing if you
• 23:47
Speaker 4: had a church or you got like, you know, a
• 23:50
Speaker 4: rotary group or or something like that. You know, the
• 23:53
Speaker 4: radio or radio you don't you don't want radio chill,
• 23:56
Speaker 4: trust me, you don't. You don't want radio chill. Yeah. Yeah,
• 24:01
  Speaker 4: but uh but it's a it's a great team building
• 24:04
Speaker 4: opportunity for people to kind of get together and do these,
• 24:06
Speaker 4: you know, and get a little awareness toward their particular calls,
• 24:09
Speaker 4: whether it's a fire department or a Little League team
• 24:11
Speaker 4: or what it certainly is.
• 24:12
Speaker 12: And and and some of our vendors are I mean,
• 24:14
Speaker 12: I think we got about eight non profit vendors Rotary, uh,
• 24:18
Speaker 12: Hayes Middle School, Saint Albans High School. So all of
• 24:21
Speaker 12: these are non profit entities that are coming out as vendors.
• 24:24
Speaker 12: A couple of them selling grilled cheese, going with the
• 24:27
Speaker 12: chili's the great idea to have pepperoni rolls, uh, fall
• 24:31
Speaker 12: time foods and festival type foods. So all those will
• 24:35
Speaker 12: be there well, so your nonprofits.
• 24:36
Speaker 4: Will be out there on maybe one day we'll actually
• 24:38
Speaker 4: have fall, you know that we're hoping for it. The weather,
• 24:41
Speaker 4: if I remember correctly, Uh, the weather last year was
• 24:44
Speaker 4: was was really good. It's perfect. It was perfect last year.
• 24:47
Speaker 4: But you want to have a little bit of a
• 24:49
Speaker 4: nip in the air. Oh yeah, we like that, We
• 24:51
Speaker 4: like the fall time. Yeah, and we're hoping eventually. Yeahni
• 24:54
Speaker 4: will also be beer on the street.
• 24:56
Speaker 12: There will and and you can get information at fall
• 24:59
Speaker 12: y'all Chili Off dot com or the Facebook Saint Albans
• 25:02
Speaker 12: fall Y'all Festival Chili Cookoff.
• 25:04
Speaker 4: All right, and uh, and of course we'll be there. Yes,
• 25:08
Speaker 4: I know you just said that Rob Reel would be there,
• 25:09
Speaker 4: so that means that ninety six to one Kubles will
• 25:13
Speaker 4: be there. The Mountain will be there. We always have
• 25:14
Speaker 4: a big presence of these things.
• 25:15
Speaker 10: Yes, No, it's a lot of fun too. Just get out,
• 25:19
Speaker 10: live life, have some fun and do some good for
• 25:21
  Speaker 10: the neighborhood too.
• 25:22
  Speaker 12: Enjoy your neighbors.
• 25:23
Speaker 4: Yeah, and you know it's there's a lot of stuff
• 25:26
Speaker 4: going on in St. Albans, you know constantly. I had
• 25:30
Speaker 4: Jared Page on the show just a couple of weeks ago.
• 25:32
Speaker 4: He was talking about the PODA thing that's gone into
• 25:34
Speaker 4: into effect there. That's contrary to what you think, Steve.
• 25:37
Speaker 4: It's not the public outdoor drinking area. It's public outdoor
• 25:41
Speaker 4: designated that he does not stand for drinking. Okay, what
• 25:44
  Speaker 4: I'm just letting you know, I'm just but it's it's
• 25:47
Speaker 4: been according to him and talking to him, it's been
• 25:49
Speaker 4: a great thing for the businesses there in Putney Command
• 25:53
Speaker 4: or in St Albans and what it allows you to do.
• 25:55
Speaker 4: Charleston's done at certain areas and other cities have done
• 25:58
Speaker 4: it too. Basically, you can purchase a now, not necessarily
• 26:01
Speaker 4: during this event, the Maure Festival, not at any other
• 26:04
Speaker 4: time on a regular Friday or Saturday night, you want
• 26:06
Speaker 4: to go out grab one, you can. You get a
• 26:09
Speaker 4: cup from one of these businesses, uh, and then you
• 26:12
Speaker 4: can then take it to the different places if you
• 26:14
Speaker 4: choose to have alcohol or you don't have to do
• 26:17
Speaker 4: that if you don't want to.
• 26:19
Speaker 12: Yeah, this event is that those are the ones. The
• 26:21
Speaker 12: POTO events are the free walking, the festival type, the
• 26:25
Speaker 12: yack fest all y'all, they're they're not PoTA events at
• 26:28
Speaker 12: the time. And the you can they're the street festival
• 26:32
Speaker 12: type of environment is what you would expect more here
• 26:35
Speaker 12: at at these events. But yes, Saint Aubans, we're trying
• 26:38
Speaker 12: to bring a lively environment, trying to bring youth and
• 26:41
Speaker 12: family into the town.
• 26:42
Speaker 4: So and I will I will say this as well,
• 26:46
Speaker 4: if you want to come out to the fall y'all event,
• 26:49
Speaker 4: and maybe if you're if you don't even like chili,
• 26:52
Speaker 4: I mean, you can come out and you could take
• 26:53
Speaker 4: in the music and stuff like that because it's an
• 26:55
Speaker 4: open street so there's no charge for any of that.
• 26:57
Speaker 12: No, no, it's it just wants to be there on
• 26:59
Speaker 12: the show Street to walk around, to view, to listen.
• 27:03
Speaker 12: And if you don't like chili, there's there are other
• 27:05
Speaker 12: food vendors, there are other opportunity to peek around and
• 27:09
Speaker 12: see what there is for you there.
• 27:11
Speaker 10: And if you haven't been to Saint Albans multitude of restaurants.
• 27:15
Speaker 10: We have Shuckers on Old Maine. We also have the Cafe,
• 27:19
Speaker 10: the Tap, We have Cole River Coffee, we have Cosamel,
• 27:22
Speaker 10: we have Angela's on the River. Hat Tricks the new
• 27:26
Speaker 10: we have Yeah Hat Tricks. We have Marco's Pizza Love Pizza.
• 27:29
Speaker 12: Hat Tricks is new establishment across from the Dairy Queen
• 27:32
Speaker 12: there on sixth that.
• 27:33
Speaker 10: We have Dairy Queen.
• 27:34
  Speaker 4: Yeah.
• 27:34
Speaker 10: So I mean there's a ton of great food options too,
• 27:37
  Speaker 10: So yeah.
• 27:38
Speaker 4: Come on out. And you mentioned a couple of my
• 27:40
Speaker 4: I mean, all those places are great, but you mentioned
• 27:41
Speaker 4: a couple of my favorite places. The Cafe. You and
• 27:43
Speaker 4: I have been known to go to the Cafe a
• 27:45
Speaker 4: timeer twelve yes, uh. And and also Shuckers. Shuckers of course,
• 27:48
Speaker 4: a big shout out the guy and the folks they
• 27:50
Speaker 4: sponsor on the Mountain the Appetite for the eighties show
• 27:54
Speaker 4: that the Jeff Snyder does on the show, and they
• 27:57
Speaker 4: crab stuff, mushrooms. Man, there are awesome. They're everything there
• 28:00
Speaker 4: is great. Had a texture so salted cheese, sour cream,
• 28:03
Speaker 4: and chips are awesome. With chili all yeah, things are
• 28:06
Speaker 4: and the chili cooker, yes, that texture. You need to
• 28:10
  Speaker 4: come and cook.
• 28:10
Speaker 12: Yes, they can. Get to the website sign up. You
• 28:12
Speaker 12: can sign up to cook from the website and and
• 28:15
Speaker 12: the cookers. Some drop cheese and sour cream and crackers
• 28:19
Speaker 12: in the chili. That's perfectly allowed your choice, So however
• 28:23
Speaker 12: you like it, come on down.
• 28:25
Speaker 10: Also, we're still needing some volunteers, so if you'd like
• 28:27
Speaker 10: to volunteer, help out for a great cause for a
• 28:30
  Speaker 10: great day.
• 28:31
Speaker 12: Link is also on the website there as well, either
• 28:34
Speaker 12: the volunteer or the registration link as soon as you
• 28:36
Speaker 12: go to the fall Y'all website, it'll be right there.
• 28:39
Speaker 12: You can click to the link there and if.
• 28:41

• 28:49

• 33:26
Speaker 3: Thank you so much for having me today.
• 33:28
Speaker 4: You know you got to follow up Steve Animal, because
• 33:31
Speaker 4: when you think symphony, you think Steve Animal.
• 33:35
Speaker 11: Well it's a tough fact to follow. But I like
• 33:37
Speaker 11: to think I know you said that the symphony wasn't
• 33:39
Speaker 11: for you. I like to think the symphony.
• 33:41
Speaker 3: All of this for everyone.
• 33:42
Speaker 4: It is, it is. My point was is that people
• 33:45
Speaker 4: like myself an Animal, you wouldn't normally think of us
• 33:48
Speaker 4: with the symphony. But I've gone to I go to
• 33:50
Speaker 4: the symphony regularly. I love it, that is for sure.
• 33:52
Speaker 11: Well, and I think this year's season gives a little
• 33:55
Speaker 11: bit of taste for everybody. So if you are not
• 33:58
Speaker 11: a classical music fan or don't think you like symphonic music,
• 34:01
Speaker 11: don't worry because there's lots coming up for you. But
• 34:04
Speaker 11: on Saturday, September twentieth, we are going to kick off
• 34:06
Speaker 11: our opening season with Opening Night, and we've got a
• 34:09
Speaker 11: lot of fun classical music that'll start off our season.
• 34:14
Speaker 11: We've got a piece by Augusta Holmes, which is a
• 34:17
Speaker 11: beautiful French composer. We've got two guest artists on stage,
• 34:21
Speaker 11: which is something a little bit different. So we'll be
• 34:23
Speaker 11: having a cello and of Island that'll be featured for
• 34:25
Speaker 11: the evening, and then we'll be kicking and finalizing our
• 34:29
Speaker 11: evening for a performance of Rimsky Korsakov's Shaherazad, which is
• 34:33
Speaker 11: the famous tale of Arabian Nights one thousand and one
• 34:37
Speaker 11: in Arabian Nights. So a lot of fun stuff coming
• 34:40
Speaker 11: up on the Symphonic series and also for our ZMM
• 34:44
Speaker 11: Architecture and Engineer's Pop series.
• 34:45
Speaker 4: As well, so we talk about that a little bit.
• 34:47
Speaker 11: Yeah, So Saturday, October twenty fifth, we're going to be
• 34:49
Speaker 11: coming to the stage to kick off our Pop series,
• 34:51
Speaker 11: which if you aren't familiar with classical music, it's a
• 34:53
Speaker 11: great way to dip your toe into that genre, I
• 34:57
Speaker 11: like to say. And we're going to be collaborating with
• 34:59
Speaker 11: some local band which I'm really really excited for. The
• 35:01
Speaker 11: title of the show is Listen where You Live, and
• 35:04
Speaker 11: we're going to be welcoming Shalem the company's stores, and
• 35:07
Speaker 11: then John Ingram band on stage to share time with
• 35:10
Speaker 11: the Symphonies, so they'll be playing with the Symphony, they'll
• 35:11
Speaker 11: be playing a little bit by themselves. The Symphony will
• 35:14
Speaker 11: be playing by themselves. So it's a really great way
• 35:16
Speaker 11: to share in not only the classical music scene, but
• 35:20
Speaker 11: the Charleston and West Virginia music scene in a really
• 35:23
Speaker 11: fun way to kick off the year with some fun music.
• 35:27
Speaker 4: And I always love when these you know, you can
• 35:28
Speaker 4: call them fusions or whatever you want to call them,
• 35:30
Speaker 4: when these different genres of music come together like this.
• 35:34
Speaker 4: And I always love when you hear a symphony. I
• 35:36
Speaker 4: go back a few years ago, I think it I
• 35:39
Speaker 4: want to say it was Melbourne when Metallica performed with
• 35:44
Speaker 4: the I think it was the Melbourne Symphony. It was
• 35:46
Speaker 4: simply amazing because music is music, you know, That's the
• 35:49
Speaker 4: thing I mean. And they have a lot more in
• 35:51
Speaker 4: common the different genres than what you would think.
• 35:53
  Speaker 3: That's for sure.
• 35:54
  Speaker 7: Well.
• 35:54
Speaker 11: And we love to do collaborations with local organizations too,
• 35:59
Speaker 11: so later in the year will be collaborating for the
• 36:01
Speaker 11: twenty sixth year with the Charleston Blake for the Nutcracker
• 36:04
Speaker 11: two and we'll be bringing Swan Lake to the stage
• 36:07
Speaker 11: in the spring. So really everything we put on is
• 36:11
Speaker 11: a little bit something for everyone. So if you like dance,
• 36:14
Speaker 11: if you like pop and rock music, we have our
• 36:17
Speaker 11: fun Sounds of the Season concert, which is holiday music
• 36:21
Speaker 11: in the best way. We'll have some solo vocalists, so
• 36:24
Speaker 11: corral vocalists on there too. I mean, really, everything we
• 36:27
Speaker 11: have to offer for the Charleston area and the state
• 36:31
Speaker 11: in general is really going to be a little bit
• 36:34
Speaker 11: of everything, from your very traditional classical music to things
• 36:38
Speaker 11: that you really don't envision with a orchestra on stage.
• 36:41
Speaker 11: We'll actually be collaborating with the WU Theater Department in
• 36:45
Speaker 11: February and there we're gonna be playing some Romeo and
• 36:47
Speaker 11: Juliette and they're going to be performing Romeo and Julian
• 36:49
Speaker 11: on stage. So it's a really exciting time to be
• 36:53
Speaker 11: a part of the West Virginia sim you know.
• 36:54
Speaker 4: So then I would like to get and I don't
• 36:55
Speaker 4: know whether you can pull this together because people come
• 36:58
Speaker 4: from all around play with the symphony. But one thing
• 37:01
Speaker 4: that I think would really be cool we get this,
• 37:03
Speaker 4: We get this big old studio in here, and you
• 37:05
Speaker 4: should bring a couple of them in sometime and see
• 37:07
Speaker 4: what we can. Now, we can't bring the entire symphony,
• 37:09
Speaker 4: of course, you know.
• 37:10
Speaker 3: Oh I have no Dave. We might be able to
• 37:13
  Speaker 3: know about that.
• 37:13
Speaker 4: But if you could bring a few in because we've
• 37:15
Speaker 4: done things like in the past, we've done live music
• 37:17
Speaker 4: on the show. I mean, why not, it's my show,
• 37:18
  Speaker 4: the rules.
• 37:19
Speaker 3: I would love that well.
• 37:20
Speaker 11: And we have a really talented concertmaster who is the
• 37:23
Speaker 11: lead of the orchestra and she is a professor at WBUKA,
• 37:28
Speaker 11: So we are really excited to be able to feature
• 37:30
Speaker 11: some local musicians. Dave Porter is a fantastic trumpet player,
• 37:35
Speaker 11: a staple in the Charleston music scene, and really exciting
• 37:39
Speaker 11: to feature him on our stage as a symphony musician
• 37:41
Speaker 11: as well. Too interested in anything we have to offer,
• 37:44
Speaker 11: make sure you check out our website Wbsymphony dot org.
• 37:47
Speaker 11: It's going to have all of the information on it
• 37:49
Speaker 11: for our single tickets, our subscriptions, everything from our symphonic
• 37:53
Speaker 11: concerts and our pops concerts to all of these collaborations
• 37:56
Speaker 11: we're talking about. It really is the place to figure
• 37:58
Speaker 11: out what you'd like to see for the symphony and
• 38:00
Speaker 11: how to get there.
• 38:01
Speaker 4: So's I can to a Mana McDonald again, who is
• 38:03
Speaker 4: the marketing director for the Symphony, the West Virginian Symphony,
• 38:05
Speaker 4: the Dave Aland Show and five Vedie Live is Brown

Speaker 4: Vis A Pinnacle Corp dot net. Because what you don't
• 38:19
Speaker 4: know can hurt you. Let's talk about the popularity of
• 38:24
Speaker 4: the symphony here in the Charleston area and really all
• 38:27
Speaker 4: of West Virginia. You know, you don't think some people
• 38:30
Speaker 4: may think, well, you know, it's a select few that
• 38:33
Speaker 4: like this sort of thing. I have gone several times,
• 38:36
Speaker 4: my wife and I have gone, and I've been amazed
• 38:38
Speaker 4: by the different types of people that you see at
• 38:41
Speaker 4: your events. It's not just the people in the tuxedos
• 38:45
Speaker 4: and things like that like you see on television or movies.
• 38:47
Speaker 4: That's not what it is at all. You see families,
• 38:49
Speaker 4: you see individuals, you see people in blue genie, you
• 38:52
Speaker 4: see people dressed up in suits and ties. Just talk
• 38:55
Speaker 4: about the overall scene for sure.
• 38:57
Speaker 11: I mean, really, we work on, really working hard on
• 39:00
Speaker 11: trying to get such a diverse audience. You're right, and
• 39:02
Speaker 11: we think of classical music as suits and ties and
• 39:05
Speaker 11: tuxes and operas, and that is definitely a great part
• 39:08
Speaker 11: of it, but a lot of part of it is
• 39:11
Speaker 11: making sure that everyone feels comfortable when you walk into
• 39:14
Speaker 11: the Clay Center, and just because you may not understand
• 39:17
Speaker 11: or know the piece that you're listening to, doesn't mean
• 39:20
Speaker 11: you're not going to enjoy just as much. Really working
• 39:23
Speaker 11: on to bringing in a younger audience to our symphony.
• 39:26
Speaker 11: We have a really amazing education program. A part of
• 39:29
Speaker 11: that program goes out into the Knnow County schools and
• 39:32
Speaker 11: has string educators that are not only employees in the
• 39:36
Speaker 11: in the county, but also musicians on our stage too,
• 39:39
Speaker 11: working with young students, middle school, high schoolers to really
• 39:42
Speaker 11: start an initial initialize that love of music.
• 39:45
Speaker 3: I'm from a really young age.
• 39:47
Speaker 11: We're also working with the West Virginia, the Kannawk County
• 39:50
Speaker 11: Public Library to distribute these things we call WB Symphony Passports.
• 39:54
Speaker 3: So if you have a student or.
• 39:56
Speaker 11: A child a's twelve and younger, we would love to
• 39:59
Speaker 11: issue a passport. That passport gets you a free ticket
• 40:02
Speaker 11: for your student plus an adult to most all of
• 40:05
Speaker 11: our concerts, all of our symponic concerts, a select group
• 40:09
Speaker 11: of our pops concerts, and that is a way to
• 40:11
Speaker 11: really help to grow that audience, to diversify that audience,
• 40:14
Speaker 11: to make people feel like the Symphony is their own.
• 40:17
Speaker 11: We want to be able to have a great night
• 40:19
Speaker 11: out and a fun night out, to dress up and
• 40:20
Speaker 11: things like that too, but it's just as nice to
• 40:23
Speaker 11: come out in a comfortable outfit and enjoy just a
• 40:26
Speaker 11: night of music in the Clay Center.
• 40:27
  Speaker 6: And we have.
• 40:27
Speaker 11: A gem of a venue in the in the city
• 40:31
Speaker 11: built for the Symphony. It's the most acoustically sound venue.
• 40:35
Speaker 11: I mean, it is just fantastic. Our musicians are really
• 40:37
Speaker 11: grateful to play there. We are really grateful to have
• 40:40
Speaker 11: a home there, and we're hoping everyone will come out
• 40:42
Speaker 11: there and see us.
• 40:43
Speaker 4: Quickly talk about the sponsors that make it all possible,
• 40:46
Speaker 4: because you couldn't do it without without the great sponsor.
• 40:48
Speaker 3: That is an understatement.
• 40:50
Speaker 11: The Elliott Foundation is our Symphonic Series sponsor and has
• 40:53
Speaker 11: been a sponsor for a very very very long time
• 40:55
Speaker 11: along with the z Along with the ZMM Architects and
• 40:58
Speaker 11: Engineers has been our pop sponsors for decades, so not
• 41:02
Speaker 11: along only with them, but our individual concerts sponsors, and
• 41:06
Speaker 11: COVA is sponsoring our opening Night series. They are an
• 41:08
Speaker 11: exclusive sponsor for that and have been for quite some time.
• 41:12
  Speaker 3: All of the.
• 41:12
Speaker 11: Sponsors that come together throughout the year to really help
• 41:14
Speaker 11: make these concerts be the epic shows that we love.
• 41:18
Speaker 4: All right again, give us the details about Saturday Night.
• 41:21
Speaker 4: We covered a lot here, but let's talk at specifically
• 41:22

• 46:19
Speaker 4: Richmond is here from the Libertarian Party of West Virginia.
• 46:22
Speaker 4: The Libertarian Party has been very vocal about having some
• 46:27
Speaker 4: issues with free speech, and if you know anything at
• 46:30
Speaker 4: all about the Libertarian Party and the libertarian movement, they're
• 46:33
Speaker 4: all about free speech and they're calling out Republicans right
• 46:37
Speaker 4: now who suddenly suddenly don't like free speech. And we're
• 46:44
Speaker 4: going to get into that with Taylor coming up a
• 46:45
Speaker 4: little bit later, and also on the show today, Delegate
• 46:48
Speaker 4: Jonathan Pinson is going to stop by. He's one of

Speaker 4: time talking about some things going on with Marshall University,
• 47:13
Speaker 4: some some for their alumni program, and Senator Eric Tarr
• 47:16
Speaker 4: is going to stop by the show tomorrow as well.
• 47:19
Speaker 4: Texas Dave, the farm extension is ending on the thirtieth
• 47:22
Speaker 4: of this month. There's been no work, or at least
• 47:25
Speaker 4: no work publicized by Congress about their work on the
• 47:27
Speaker 4: farm bill. Videos and stories from small farmers are coming
• 47:30
Speaker 4: out stating that they can't pay their bills because foreign
• 47:34
Speaker 4: countries aren't buying crops because of the drum roll tariffs.
• 47:38
Speaker 4: Any word if our delegation is working on this or
• 47:40
Speaker 4: are they awaiting direction from their dear leaders. As a Texter,
• 47:45
Speaker 4: somebody sent me a news story here and this was
• 47:48
Speaker 4: on the Network News earlier. The FBI is there's a
• 47:51
Speaker 4: man hunt going on in Pittsburgh right now and it's
• 47:55
Speaker 4: been called an active terror and they've identified the man.
• 47:58
Speaker 4: His name is Donald of Penhills, Pennsylvania.
• 48:03
  Speaker 6: And.
• 48:05
Speaker 4: He is accused of ramming a gates and then fleeing
• 48:11
Speaker 4: at the FBI field office in Pittsburgh. And now they've
• 48:13
Speaker 4: got according to the texture I got here or sent
• 48:16
Speaker 4: me they've got bomb robots now scanning the vehicle, So again,
• 48:22
Speaker 4: appreciate that breaking news there. Tex says, Dave can't believe
• 48:28
Speaker 4: evangelical pastors are lifting Charlie Charlie Kirk up on a
• 48:31
Speaker 4: pedestal and say they believe God's word. Then they need
• 48:35
Speaker 4: to check what Charlie believes, and says on his podcast,
• 48:39
Speaker 4: there is an opening now on the canaw County Board
• 48:42
Speaker 4: of Education. Tracy White making the announcement yesterday on social
• 48:45
Speaker 4: media that she is resigning. She's been a board member
• 48:49
Speaker 4: going back to twenty eighteen now. In a post on Facebook,
• 48:51
Speaker 4: she said the decision didn't come lightly in cited family
• 48:55
Speaker 4: issues is one of the reasons she is residing now.
• 48:57
Speaker 4: She had said originally that she was going to an
• 49:00
Speaker 4: out to the end of this year that she would
• 49:01
Speaker 4: not seek reelection next year, but she opted to resign,
• 49:05
Speaker 4: effective immediately. The four other members will now choose a
• 49:09
Speaker 4: new member to finish out her term. We've had a
• 49:10
Speaker 4: story posted about it this morning at Wvmetronews dot com.
• 49:15
Speaker 4: Aaron Parker with the story this morning at the website,
• 49:19
Speaker 4: and we talked about this yesterday because this kind of
• 49:21
Speaker 4: broke the beginning of Midday yesterday, Marshall President Brad Smith
• 49:25
Speaker 4: and his wife Elise are writing a check to Marshall,
• 49:29
Speaker 4: his alma mater, a big one, as in fifty million
• 49:33
Speaker 4: dollars big and it's going to go to the Marshall
• 49:36
Speaker 4: for All program. It's the biggest donation ever to Marshall
• 49:39
Speaker 4: and believe to be the largest donation ever in the
• 49:42
Speaker 4: country to a university from its president fifty million dollars. Now,
• 49:48
Speaker 4: the program that it's going to, this Marshal for All,
• 49:50
Speaker 4: was launched back in twenty twenty three under the guidance
• 49:53
Speaker 4: of President Smith, and it's designed to get more students
• 49:59
Speaker 4: through college without much debt. And you would think this
• 50:03
Speaker 4: is all a good thing, right, Well not if you
• 50:07
Speaker 4: got online and you read the comments on the TV
• 50:11
Speaker 4: station websites, other news sources and some of the texts
• 50:15
Speaker 4: that I got to the show yesterday. I met your
• 50:17
Speaker 4: news Midday about this, criticizing people, criticizing President Brad Smith
• 50:24
Speaker 4: for being rich and doing well for his family. I mean,
• 50:33
Speaker 4: one would think that somebody who is a self made
• 50:36
Speaker 4: man like Brad Smith. President Bradsmith is and wants to
• 50:39
Speaker 4: give back and gets out the checkbook and writes a
• 50:42
Speaker 4: fifty million dollar check to help students go to school,
• 50:48
Speaker 4: meaning that many of them will not start their life
• 50:52
Speaker 4: weigh down with horrendous student debt. You would think that
• 50:55
Speaker 4: would be a good thing, but apparently not in our
• 50:58
Speaker 4: current society, where we vilify anybody that's rich. One text
• 51:02
Speaker 4: to the show yesterday said he was flaunting his wealth
• 51:06
Speaker 4: by doing good. Good on him, good on her, Good
• 51:10
Speaker 4: on everybody for being able to have wealth to flaunt.
• 51:13
Speaker 4: I respect it. It's just continuing the vitification of success
• 51:17
Speaker 4: in this country. And when you get a guy like
• 51:20
Speaker 4: Brad Smith that wants to give back, and this isn't all,
• 51:24
Speaker 4: but I mean a lot of the commenters on again,
• 51:27
Speaker 4: go go to your favorite television station, go to radio stations,
• 51:29
Speaker 4: go to you know, people vilifying him for doing this
• 51:33
Speaker 4: and getting blasted for it. But that's what we do
• 51:35
Speaker 4: in America. We like to vilify anybody that has done
• 51:38
Speaker 4: anything good with their lives. Closing moments on the show here,
• 51:45
Speaker 4: I wanted to get into this a little bit more
• 51:46
Speaker 4: on Midday today. Now two thirds of the Calhoun County
• 51:52
Speaker 4: Commission not far from here, are facing criminal charges. Morgan
• 51:56
Speaker 4: Pemberton has the story this morning. W metron Who's dot com.
• 52:00
Speaker 4: We told you about the one guy facing charges for
• 52:02
Speaker 4: sexual abuse. Now another commissioner, the President of the Commission,
• 52:05
Speaker 4: Craig Arthur, is facing seven counts of failing to pay
• 52:08
Speaker 4: taxes or to file returns or reports. WCCHS Television reporting
• 52:13
Speaker 4: this and again we have a story post about ourselves
• 52:15
Speaker 4: at w metronews dot com from Morgan at Pemberton. So
• 52:20
Speaker 4: if you're unhappy with your current job, my takeaway as
• 52:22
Speaker 4: you can move to Calhoun County and now run for
• 52:24
Speaker 4: county Commission because they got two or the three slots
• 52:27
Speaker 4: look like they're going to be opened soon. We'll have
• 52:28
Speaker 4: more of that on Midday to Day. Coming up on
• 52:30
Speaker 4: this show tomorrow, Senator Grey Tarwolf stop by and more
• 52:33
Speaker 4: from the Marshall University Alumni Association, DJ Meadows and Dave
