Transcript
- 0:00Back in 2019 I didn't really believe in a lot of vision boards affirmations being able to Really think yourself to where you want to be kind of like think and grow rich, napoleon hill, you think about something that you want, then you, you visualize it you work towards it, because you can't just Do affirmations and think about stuff and things happen.
- 0:01You also have to do the stuff towards it. I mean, you still have to take action, but doing that stuff helps move you. And that, that's the big thing. And so back in 2019, I my first. My first coach and my first coaching group they mentored me on my mindset. That was the, the big, big thing. And one of the things was creating a vision board.
- 0:02And I'm like, what is a vision board? Why would I need a vision board? And really that vision board is. is really a claw. I think it's, I would call it a cloche of like different images, different quotes, different things that you want to achieve in your life. So some of your dreams, some of your goals, and you're putting it down, On a board.
- 0:03It doesn't matter if it's a cork board, if it's a bristle board. And so in 2019, I've actually did this and I made goals before, and I've made lists of goals and accomplished lots of them and continue to make goals. And my, my goal is continues to grow and yours should too. But on this vision board back in 2019, 2020. I wrote put some things down. I cut some pictures out. I print stuff off online, and I glued them down to this board. Different things. Some of them still have not came to fruition yet, but you know what? When I look at the board now, today, goals that I set for say, okay, in five years, I want to hit these goals.
- 0:04I have them on my vision board. I was looking at it all the time. So I already knocked off two or three of them. It's, it's crazy. And then, and as it happened and they don't have to be all extravagant goals, it could be like, you want to have a summer home, maybe it could be one of them was for me and my family to do something together and we did it and we accomplished it because I had it on that board and I thought about it
- 0:05and with these goals here that I have or with the vision board, I know I'm going to accomplish more. So I challenge all of you again, every day I'm trying to give you a little challenge, but sit down maybe this weekend, find some time if you can this weekend and start to create yourself a vision board.
- 0:06And it doesn't matter what it looks like now, but maybe it's, okay, I want to move from my apartment that I'm in right now to a house with a backyard, or I want to move from my duplex to a single house. Maybe it's, I want to be able to take my kids out once a month for dinner where it's just a family dinner, out for a movie, and out for dinner.
- 0:07Because that's what I did. I wrote things down like that. And I'm, I'm thinking and I'm hitting these little, these are small, like micro goals or micro visions, but they're coming. They're, they're happening. Some people, well, that's easy. You could just go and do it. Well, not necessarily mine. Mine was a specific food one that I would like my, my kids to enjoy with me while we're out having fun.
- 0:08And it's actually, It's happening and it's, it's, it's crazy people, your kids eat that, that I've never heard of that. And it's, it's fun to see, but the first step, is getting there, creating this for you. Will it change? For sure. But it gives you inspiration and you got to look at it all the time.
- 0:09Like I talked about the goals. You got to look at it all the time. So I had some great surveys come back and I continue to want you guys to fill out the surveys at the end, because this helps me out. One of them came back and said, like, I wish I was better with controls and refrigeration. And I hear this time and time again, that not very good with controls.
- 0:10I don't know how to really work at them. I don't know how to get better at them. I feel like I struggle all the time. Well, that should be a goal. If you keep telling yourself you're no good at it, you're not going to be good at it. So maybe that's something to put on, on your vision board. So for an example, if you want to get better at controls, first step is which control is it?
- 0:11Is it a Danfoss? Is it a Emerson or I'm sorry, Copeland E3 is a microthermal. Is it a Crell? Is it an RDM? Is it an OGRAR? And it doesn't matter which one is it? Why, what does this do for you and your career in your life? Make, make you more confident, maybe get a better role, maybe get into controls, but take a step back and.
- 0:12Put it down. Put that on your vision board. And then what's the next step, you know, if you're looking at this all the time and you see it Well, I want to get better at controls I want to get better at controls and you see it and it's in your face all the time You're probably going to take more action on those down times than than not A lot of people think well, I shouldn't I don't need to be learning this while i'm not at work.
- 0:13It's my time at home Well, you're in the wrong mindset. You just go do your time at home and that's totally understand But if you want to get better This is something you need to be looking at and striving for all the time. That's the only way you get better at anything. It's like playing sports when you start out.
- 0:14And if you play baseball, throwing the ball for the very first time, it went, you know, you just dropped it, or maybe it didn't go far at whatever age you started two or five. And even if you started older, maybe you threw it a little further, but it wasn't very accurate, but you practice and practice and =worked at it.
- 0:15And then got lessons from a coach. You know, coach teaching, you know, I was at one of, one of my kids, well, all my kids actually are playing baseball this year for the first time. And. We were at some practices on the weekend. Never played baseball before. I used to play baseball all the time when I was a kid, when I started, I was playing since I was really young, that's the sport my dad liked.
- 0:16So that's what I, what I played and I enjoyed it. But when I took out my kids, like they never played before, it was kind of different. They had a coach there and the coach was showing them, okay, hold your glove like this. Okay. Here I throw the ball and they were catching, never put a, they put a glove on before we went out to the practice, but never had a glove on before, but that practice led in to catch it.
- 0:17And so I talked to them, talked to them about, okay, you gotta listen to your coach. They have done it before. They have the experience. And as they listen, I could watch them getting better and better, even on the first practice. And then we talked about, then we went into the batting, the first last weekend or the weekend before.
- 0:18Just tip the ball off the bat as the coach was pitching it. And then they talked to them, change your stance, change your feet. And then all of a sudden they hit the ball last weekend, multiple times. And that made them feel real good. But once again, that came in through the coaching and them saying, I want to try baseball, having that vision to be like, okay, I've done these sports already, but I want to try this.
- 0:19I, I, I see it on TV. We went to some ball games. I want to try it. They were having this vision and we didn't talk about it as a vision, but they were, they were the one aspiring to go to baseball because I want them to play whatever sports they, they want. And I love that they try different things out. But they had a vision.
- 0:20Well, I'm going to hit the ball this time. And they did. And so I think it all comes back to what you, you believe yourself is capable of doing. And so getting back to the control one, if you have a vision board and you put it down and you put the controls, you want to get that. I, I know for sure. If you look at that every day, You're going to start making actions towards it.
- 0:21You'll maybe download the manual. Maybe you'll spend an extra five or ten minutes at a site to look stuff up. You'll go in and read something about it. You maybe you'll take your meter out and start looking at things. I think this is something that that will definitely help you with your growth in your professional career or your personal life.
- 0:22100 percent because it has helped me in both of mine. There's many visions that I have on my vision board, my goal board, my dream board, whatever you want to call it that I'm working towards. But the thing that I said there is that I'm working towards. And I really believe you start doing stuff like that something different something people are gonna you know Probably the people around you.
- 0:23Well, what are you doing that for? What does that make sense? Why are you writing stuff down? That's not going to get you anywhere. Those are the naysayers and that's that's fine There's lots of them out there and even you like Arnold Schwarzenegger or not, this guy is such a smart business person, such a someone, anyone should aspire to be in the way he did his life. So if you haven't watched my wife watched the documentary on his life. It's on Netflix, if you have Netflix or not, and I watched some of them.
- 0:24His three stages of life, his three or four careers he had in life. And I'm not mean like, oh, go become a bodybuilder or whatever. It's the way he approached and tackled life. What he talks about.
- 0:25Yeah, he had a dream. He had a goal. He worked his ass off to get there. A lot of people, Oh, he, he, he just got there. He magically got there. No, no, no, no. This guy started with nothing right after the the world war. He was, you know and then he, he's seen and had a vision. He wanted to be a bodybuilder.
- 0:26He wanted to be on TV. He wanted to be in movies. He wanted to be. Rich and at the age of I think 16 or 15. I can't remember what he said He started working towards that in the gym five hours a day And, and working towards that. Now maybe you're older, maybe you're in your 30s or your 40s and, and becoming a bodybuilder to win the Mr.
- 0:27Olympics might not be your aspirations anymore compared to maybe when you were younger. But the thing is, what can you do? Towards that vision or goals. And so what he did, he worked towards it. He became Mr. Olympia. And from there he was like, well, I want to move to America. And then that was his, he, he didn't want to live in a little farm town.
- 0:28He wanted to live where, where there are skyscrapers and in America where there's more opportunity. And then what he did. It wasn't only Mr. America. He went and learned English. He didn't know English. He went and learned English. He went and removed his accents or accent. And then he went into business.
- 0:29He started in real estate, you know, and he was working in construction jobs. So he would go and he would do acting classes for six, seven hours a day. Then he would go and work his job in construction. So he still had to make money. So when you go back and look at the amount of work this person put in to develop themselves.
- 0:30Now you can do this too But once again, it comes back to that mindset having those those visions and goals to work towards Then he wanted to get into to acting everyone said he'd never be an actor. He's too big. He's too muscly He'll never he'll never do it in in the movies. And you know what? He was one of the most famous people on in movies Many times most paid actor, I think too, but what he did, he had that vision and he worked towards and he stayed consistent working towards them where a lot of people I'll have a goal and then they give up on their goal or they give up on the vision.
- 0:31So I think having this vision board, looking at it all the time and working towards it, it's going to make those steps. But once again, you got to think about the things you want. You know, are you right now doing the things that you want to be doing? That's the first step Do you want to be doing what you're doing today?
- 0:32If not, well, what do you actually want to be doing? This is where that thought comes in where you come and think about the things that you want to do Do I want to? Have a successful career in the refrigeration industry. Do I want to continue to grow and move to that next level in my career? What is that vision that you have for yourself?
- 0:33Once again, it comes back to the goal. What do you want? Most people are not happy with what they do. If you're in refrigeration HVAC and you're not happy doing the role, go do something else. Go find the things that you're passionate about. Will you make the same amount? Probably not starting out, but maybe over time you can get back up to that.
- 0:34To the financial place you're looking for. Lots of people don't even have a number they, they, that they're working towards. That's another big thing. Oh, I want to be rich. Well, how rich? You know, so, because making 10, 000 a year is rich to some people around the world. That's just what it is. Now, in other places in the world, making 10 million is not being rich.
- 0:35So you got to put a number on, on the things that you want, and that should be on your vision board. Well, I want to, I want to be here at this age. How do I get there? You work backwards. So on your vision boards at 50, 60 years old, you want to have 500, 000 in the bank or a million dollars in the bank, whatever it is.
- 0:36So where am I at now? I'm at 40, we'll say like a 60, years. Well, how do I get a million dollars in the bank? Well, you start doing the numbers. You're a refrigeration professional. You know numbers better than most people may say. You don't know numbers. But you know numbers better than the people that, that are around you, for sure.
- 0:37Because you deal with them all the time. Sizing measuring things, pricing stuff, like, pressures, temperatures, like, you're, you're really good with that stuff. So, I really think the takeaway from today is take a look at what you should have on your vision board for yourself. And you don't have to show anyone this.
- 0:38Don't show anyone. Actually, maybe don't show anyone. Have it for yourself. Don't talk to anyone about it. Just do it and see where it takes you in the next six months, one year, two years. I challenge you on that.
