- 1:26SPEAKER_04: Yes, boo.
- 1:26SPEAKER_04: Glad to be back.
- 1:27SPEAKER_03: Yes, girl.
- 1:28SPEAKER_03: All right, your next sister.
- 1:30SPEAKER_03: My name is Cynthia, and I'm a barber.
- 1:33SPEAKER_03: I've been a barber for 23 years.
- 1:35SPEAKER_03: And when I'm not barbering, I'm a living caregiver.
- 1:39SPEAKER_06: Okay, caregiver.
- 1:40SPEAKER_06: I like that.
- 1:41SPEAKER_03: Thank you.
- 1:41SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 1:42SPEAKER_02: All right.
- 1:43SPEAKER_02: Hi, beautiful.
- 1:44SPEAKER_02: I'm number five out of six.
- 1:46SPEAKER_02: My name is Ophelia.
- 1:48SPEAKER_02: Just call me Philly.
- 1:49SPEAKER_07: Philly.
- 1:50SPEAKER_02: Um, I've been doing hair for 17 years.
- 1:53SPEAKER_02: Uh-huh.
- 1:54SPEAKER_02: I have a nonprofit.
- 1:55SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 1:56SPEAKER_02: And I'm also dabbling in a little music.
- 1:59SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 2:01SPEAKER_06: Okay.
- 2:01SPEAKER_06: Look, I love this.
- 2:03SPEAKER_07: All right.
- 2:03SPEAKER_07: Them these sisters is powerful, okay?
- 2:05SPEAKER_07: And they show you that you're powerful together.
- 2:07SPEAKER_07: I love that.
- 2:08SPEAKER_09: Right.
- 2:08SPEAKER_07: All right.
- 2:09SPEAKER_07: And just we can go ahead and start off with the first question.
- 2:13SPEAKER_07: How did you guys start the business together?
- 2:15SPEAKER_07: Like the salon philosophy, or did you guys come together, or you guys just how did that happen with you guys being in business with each other?
- 2:24SPEAKER_04: Well, I I was the first one that was doing hair.
- 2:28SPEAKER_04: And my sisters, you know, I felt like they were talented too, because my sister that's the barber, she would be cutting my dad's hair, my brother's hair, all in the garage.
- 2:36SPEAKER_04: Oh, wow.
- 2:36SPEAKER_04: So I had become a cosmetologist already, but they were also working other jobs.
- 2:41SPEAKER_04: And then my younger sister, Ophelia, she had a talent for braiding.
- 2:45SPEAKER_04: So I was just like, why don't you guys go to beauty school?
- 2:48SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah.
- 2:49SPEAKER_04: And so my sister, she did an apprentice at a barber shop.
- 2:52SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 2:53SPEAKER_04: Jay's barbershop.
- 2:54SPEAKER_04: Shout out.
- 2:55SPEAKER_03: Okay, Jay.
- 2:57SPEAKER_03: I was doing 18 years.
- 2:59SPEAKER_03: For real?
- 3:00SPEAKER_03: And then I went to my sister's salon in what, COVID?
- 3:04SPEAKER_03: 2021.
- 3:05SPEAKER_03: 2021.
- 3:05SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 3:06SPEAKER_03: So COVID brought you guys together.
- 3:07SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 3:08SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 3:08SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 3:09SPEAKER_03: Well, they didn't have space for me.
- 3:11SPEAKER_04: Well, I had a no salon at first, but I'm like, okay, well, I'm going to turn it into a barber shop.
- 3:15SPEAKER_04: So come on and join us.
- 3:17SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 3:17SPEAKER_02: No, she wanted to be with the guys.
- 3:20SPEAKER_02: She wanted to be with us shit.
- 3:22SPEAKER_02: Okay, well, that's what it was.
- 3:23SPEAKER_07: See, they're trying to throw you out, huh?
- 3:25SPEAKER_07: But you have to make your way in.
- 3:27SPEAKER_04: She did.
- 3:27SPEAKER_04: She did.
- 3:28SPEAKER_04: And it was a wonderful thing because before our dad passed away, like he got to see all of us working together.
- 3:33SPEAKER_04: And I think that was the dream of his, too.
- 3:36SPEAKER_04: Be us working together all together.
- 3:38SPEAKER_07: That is cool.
- 3:39SPEAKER_03: And then you said that you cut, you used to cut your dad in them hair.
- 3:42SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 3:42SPEAKER_03: I started in the garage, you know, where I would do family, friends.
- 3:47SPEAKER_03: And then my sister, Sophia, was like, you need to go get your license.
- 3:51SPEAKER_03: And I'm like, nobody wanna see a girl cutting hair, you know, because at that time there was not a lot of women cutting hair.
- 3:58SPEAKER_03: Uh-huh.
- 3:58SPEAKER_03: And so when I did it, I started off with an apprenticeship program and I got my license, passed the first time.
- 4:06SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 4:07SPEAKER_03: Just started cutting hair from then.
- 4:08SPEAKER_03: That's what I love, okay?
- 4:10SPEAKER_03: She wrote.
- 4:10SPEAKER_07: And then what are you doing in shop as well?
- 4:13SPEAKER_02: I do everything.
- 4:14SPEAKER_07: Everything.
- 4:15SPEAKER_07: Okay.
- 4:16SPEAKER_02: I do everything.
- 4:17SPEAKER_02: Uh-huh.
- 4:17SPEAKER_02: I'm I'm her, I watch her back.
- 4:20SPEAKER_08: Yep.
- 4:21SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 4:22SPEAKER_02: Period.
- 4:23SPEAKER_02: Period time.
- 4:24SPEAKER_02: Because I'm in the corner.
- 4:25SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 4:26SPEAKER_02: And then I do hair color, braids, extensions.
- 4:30SPEAKER_02: I'm a therapist.
- 4:32SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 4:32SPEAKER_02: A therapist?
- 4:33SPEAKER_02: Not licensed.
- 4:34SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 4:35SPEAKER_02: So we're hair list.
- 4:37SPEAKER_07: We're hair pizza.
- 4:38SPEAKER_07: Yeah, because the barbershop, you know, when you get your hair, they're hair piss.
- 4:41SPEAKER_02: So when we get our hair garbage cans, you know.
- 4:43SPEAKER_02: You we dump it on you.
- 4:44SPEAKER_02: People come empty and then we empty out on each other.
- 4:47SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 4:48SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 4:48SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 4:48SPEAKER_02: That's what I'm talking about.
- 4:49SPEAKER_02: That's what I love.
- 4:50SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 4:51SPEAKER_07: Okay, ladies.
- 4:52SPEAKER_07: And who, so you said out of everyone, Sophia, you was the first one to start doing hair out of all of them.
- 4:58SPEAKER_07: Yes.
- 4:59SPEAKER_07: Okay.
- 5:00SPEAKER_07: And then just what made you like hair or what made you want to start hair?
- 5:04SPEAKER_04: When I was young, so we have five siblings, and we all have different textures of hair.
- 5:09SPEAKER_04: So I came out with the most like over curly, like kinkiest hair when I was young.
- 5:15SPEAKER_04: The most coarse, right?
- 5:16SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 5:16SPEAKER_04: So my mom, she had, she had challenges like combing my hair, but she didn't know how to comb it.
- 5:22SPEAKER_04: She would always comb it out.
- 5:23SPEAKER_04: I never had like dreads or anything.
- 5:25SPEAKER_04: Like she would never let it mat up.
- 5:26SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 5:27SPEAKER_04: She knew how to comb my hair, but I only could get one style, which was the same ponytail.
- 5:33SPEAKER_04: Two ponytails.
- 5:35SPEAKER_04: Yeah, but I was tired of it.
- 5:36SPEAKER_04: So I wanted to be like, I wanted to have like different styles too.
- 5:42SPEAKER_04: So I think at an early age, like nine, at nine, I was like, you know what?
- 5:45SPEAKER_04: I'm gonna have to take it into my own hands and do my own hair.
- 5:48SPEAKER_04: So I got my first relaxer, and then that's when I started like just experimenting with my own hair.
- 5:53SPEAKER_04: And I was like, I kind of like this.
- 5:54SPEAKER_04: And every time I would pass by a salon, I was just like, I love that environment.
- 5:59SPEAKER_04: I want to be in there.
- 6:00SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 6:01SPEAKER_04: When I grow up.
- 6:02SPEAKER_07: And then who what sisters did you used to start on?
- 6:04SPEAKER_07: Like any guinea pig?
- 6:05SPEAKER_07: Use the guinea pigs.
- 6:07SPEAKER_02: Any style, anything she wanted to do on me, I wore it.
- 6:11SPEAKER_02: I went and modeled it.
- 6:12SPEAKER_02: You know, I had a freeze in the sixth grade.
- 6:15SPEAKER_02: That was not, that was not happening back then.
- 6:18SPEAKER_02: Like that was a grown style.
- 6:19SPEAKER_02: Oh my god, what is the freeze?
- 6:21SPEAKER_02: Because y'all gotta it's waves lifted up.
- 6:24SPEAKER_02: Are you serious?
- 6:25SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 6:26SPEAKER_02: But it was still cute though.
- 6:28SPEAKER_02: Go back Google it.
- 6:28SPEAKER_02: Oh, we're gonna Google it, y'all.
- 6:30SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 6:30SPEAKER_02: We're gonna Google it.
- 6:31SPEAKER_02: Because um, if you were born in the 70s, 80s, you 90s, you know what a freeze is.
- 6:37SPEAKER_07: Then we know what a okay, so look, we gotta do some research.
- 6:42SPEAKER_02: They'll bring it back to try to make it something, and it was already there.
- 6:46SPEAKER_07: Yes.
- 6:47SPEAKER_07: So once you got your hair done, like, did you guys just continue to just go to you?
- 6:51SPEAKER_07: Like, hey, since she knows how to do our hair, we just want to continue to just go to Sophia.
- 6:56SPEAKER_02: I wasn't doing hair at all yet.
- 6:58SPEAKER_02: I started really late.
- 6:59SPEAKER_02: She's the youngest.
- 7:00SPEAKER_02: Because I didn't know what I wanted to do in my life.
- 7:02SPEAKER_02: So, but I always had a job.
- 7:04SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 7:04SPEAKER_02: Sure.
- 7:05SPEAKER_02: Sure it did.
- 7:06SPEAKER_02: She had a job work.
- 7:07SPEAKER_02: Um, but Sophie did push us to go.
- 7:10SPEAKER_02: She's like, you need to help me.
- 7:11SPEAKER_02: You should be able to help me.
- 7:13SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 7:13SPEAKER_02: Um, and I appreciate that.
- 7:15SPEAKER_04: So and then too, after beauty school, like her and one of my other stylists, they would go to beauty school and they would come to the salon after and just like assist, like sweep and help me around the salon while they were in school.
- 7:27SPEAKER_07: So you're like, you might as well sooner or later, you know, get here.
- 7:30SPEAKER_02: She's talented.
- 7:31SPEAKER_04: You're helping me.
- 7:32SPEAKER_02: And then also on my dad's side, everyone does hair, like our cousins, so it's kind of in the blood, too.
- 7:39SPEAKER_02: On top of that.
- 7:39SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 7:40SPEAKER_02: All of our kids do hair.
- 7:41SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 7:42SPEAKER_04: The beauty business is in our blood.
- 7:44SPEAKER_04: Oh my god.
- 7:45SPEAKER_07: See, I told y'all this is the episode for y'all because they know how to get you right and they know how to run a business together.
- 7:50SPEAKER_07: Yes, yes.
- 7:51SPEAKER_07: I love it.
- 7:52SPEAKER_07: And then you said that your dad and them family has that.
- 7:55SPEAKER_07: So growing up, did anybody used to make fun of y'all's hair because y'all was mixed or biracial or anything like that?
- 8:01SPEAKER_03: No, I remember going back east um for summers, and my aunts and the cousins, they used to always love washing my hair because she had the good hair.
- 8:13SPEAKER_03: The Michael Jackson hair.
- 8:17SPEAKER_03: It was free and everything.
- 8:18SPEAKER_03: But yeah, I don't know what happened.
- 8:19SPEAKER_04: And then they would come, they would come and help me.
- 8:22SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 8:23SPEAKER_04: Because they're like, okay, we're gonna comb your hair.
- 8:26SPEAKER_04: So I was excited about that.
- 8:28SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 8:28SPEAKER_03: So they influenced us a lot.
- 8:30SPEAKER_03: A lot.
- 8:30SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 8:31SPEAKER_03: Our older cousins.
- 8:32SPEAKER_03: I love it.
- 8:33SPEAKER_04: Shout out to them.
- 8:34SPEAKER_04: Shout out to the cousins.
- 8:35SPEAKER_07: Yes.
- 8:36SPEAKER_07: They like we got y'all looking right.
- 8:38SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 8:38SPEAKER_07: And like, you ain't coming over here looking crazy.
- 8:40SPEAKER_07: No.
- 8:41SPEAKER_07: I love that.
- 8:41SPEAKER_07: And then you said your parents, were they um like influent influential with you guys starting?
- 8:48SPEAKER_07: Because you said your father he wanted y'all to start the or not wanted, did he want y'all to start the business?
- 8:53SPEAKER_04: Or like both of our parents always encouraged us to be whatever we wanted to be.
- 8:58SPEAKER_04: They never downplayed, like, I knew I wanted to go to beauty school.
- 9:01SPEAKER_04: They weren't like, oh, I want you to be a doctor or a lawyer.
- 9:03SPEAKER_04: They're like, okay, go.
- 9:04SPEAKER_04: Like, you know, they were encouraging about what we wanted to be in life.
- 9:09SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 9:10SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 9:10SPEAKER_07: And that's good.
- 9:11SPEAKER_07: So they kind of influence you guys to kind of do your own thing, but in the business, be together as well.
- 9:19SPEAKER_07: Kind of?
- 9:20SPEAKER_07: Yes.
- 9:21SPEAKER_02: Um, they we basically grew up, they instilled in us to always stick together, to help each other.
- 9:30SPEAKER_02: On top of that, we couldn't go nowhere anyway.
- 9:32SPEAKER_02: Because we grew up in the church setting.
- 9:34SPEAKER_02: Oh, okay.
- 9:36SPEAKER_02: We are very appreciative of that.
- 9:38SPEAKER_02: It it has groomed us to who we are today.
- 9:41SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 9:42SPEAKER_02: Um our faith is very, very strong because of our parents.
- 9:47SPEAKER_02: You know, we watch them go through a lot and come out successful.
- 9:53SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 9:54SPEAKER_02: Like they've never been through anything.
- 9:56SPEAKER_07: That's a but that is a beautiful blessing.
- 9:58SPEAKER_02: And so we've taken that as adults into our lives and into our children's lives.
- 10:05SPEAKER_02: And we have, you know, took on the baton.
- 10:09SPEAKER_02: And whatever they instilled in us still is in us today, right?
- 10:14SPEAKER_07: I can see it.
- 10:15SPEAKER_07: And I love it, you guys.
- 10:16SPEAKER_04: And and like growing up, we're all we had.
- 10:19SPEAKER_04: Like, we didn't have extended family living here because our mom is from Taiwan.
- 10:22SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 10:23SPEAKER_04: So her family was over there, and then our dad's family was in the Carolinas.
- 10:27SPEAKER_04: So we're all we had.
- 10:28SPEAKER_04: We all were best built-in best friends.
- 10:31SPEAKER_04: We're just siblings.
- 10:33SPEAKER_02: We're just chickens together.
- 10:35SPEAKER_02: Just do everything together.
- 10:36SPEAKER_02: I would steal their clothes when I could fit them.
- 10:46SPEAKER_01: Absolutely.
- 10:46SPEAKER_07: We had a money and we had her.
- 10:50SPEAKER_07: The only reason why I say that, because y'all know my memory though, my older sister trying to get to recover.
- 10:54SPEAKER_07: She didn't know.
- 10:55SPEAKER_07: But she had a thong and I stole it.
- 11:07SPEAKER_02: You can't wear no thugs now.
- 11:09SPEAKER_02: It'll just eat it up.
- 11:11SPEAKER_02: It won't allow.
- 11:15SPEAKER_07: Okay.
- 11:16SPEAKER_07: So who thought about, okay, so we already said, who thought about just actually making the family business?
- 11:23SPEAKER_07: You said Sophia, you basically was like, y'all come to start.
- 11:26SPEAKER_07: Let's we need to start this together.
- 11:28SPEAKER_07: Yes.
- 11:28SPEAKER_07: During COVID 19.
- 11:30SPEAKER_07: Yes.
- 11:30SPEAKER_07: And how do you guys get along?
- 11:32SPEAKER_07: Like with her being.
- 11:36SPEAKER_07: You want to expect?
- 11:37SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah.
- 11:39SPEAKER_04: Yeah, we get along fine.
- 11:40SPEAKER_04: It's just, I think us as sisters, we just play our own part.
- 11:45SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 11:45SPEAKER_04: Um, I know my Cindy's the oldest, so she's the boss.
- 11:49SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 11:49unknown: Okay.
- 11:50SPEAKER_04: But you're the real boss.
- 11:51SPEAKER_04: No.
- 11:52SPEAKER_04: So I appreciate that about my big sister because like I run the business.
- 11:56SPEAKER_04: I mean, I'm the, I just say I'm the visionary, but they help me execute.
- 12:00SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 12:00SPEAKER_04: So my older sister, she doesn't overstep her boundaries.
- 12:04SPEAKER_04: Like if I'm doing something at the salon, like they know that this is what I want or this is what I need to happen and they make it happen.
- 12:11SPEAKER_04: She's not like, well, I'm trying to run, you know, yeah, they're supportive, very supportive.
- 12:16SPEAKER_02: You can't have everyone be a leader.
- 12:18SPEAKER_02: We're a leader in our own way.
- 12:20SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 12:20SPEAKER_02: And inside the salon, you have to work together.
- 12:24SPEAKER_02: You know?
- 12:25SPEAKER_02: Um, if Sophie has a vision, then we just follow it.
- 12:29SPEAKER_02: You know?
- 12:30SPEAKER_02: But we do hear out everyone's vision.
- 12:33SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 12:34SPEAKER_02: So, like if I have something I want to bring to the table and then they listen to it, and then we figure out how we can execute it, you know.
- 12:42SPEAKER_02: So we're not, we're very supportive of each other.
- 12:44SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 12:45SPEAKER_02: You know?
- 12:45SPEAKER_02: We're not trying to one up each other.
- 12:47SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 12:48SPEAKER_02: You know?
- 12:48SPEAKER_07: That's great.
- 12:49SPEAKER_02: And that's how we work together.
- 12:50SPEAKER_02: And we also know each other's personalities.
- 12:53SPEAKER_02: So, you know, if she's getting on my nerves or whatever, they just know.
- 12:57SPEAKER_02: We just leave a low.
- 12:58SPEAKER_02: We just give a look.
- 12:59SPEAKER_02: We just give a look.
- 13:00SPEAKER_02: Don't ask me today.
- 13:01SPEAKER_02: Okay, I'm not feeling it today.
- 13:02SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 13:03SPEAKER_02: Don't really bother me.
- 13:04SPEAKER_02: Give them this space.
- 13:05SPEAKER_07: But at least you guys respect each other enough to know.
- 13:07SPEAKER_07: And then, like you say, y'all not stepping on each other's toes.
- 13:11SPEAKER_09: No.
- 13:11SPEAKER_07: Because starting a business with your family.
- 13:15SPEAKER_07: Um, I think that's important, like you say, for people not to step on your toes, even though they like, oh, I am the big sister, or hey, I am the little sister.
- 13:23SPEAKER_07: Um, yeah.
- 13:24SPEAKER_07: That's amazing.
- 13:24SPEAKER_02: We just all want to see each other, make sales, and we need each other.
- 13:30SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 13:30SPEAKER_02: So that's the thing.
- 13:31SPEAKER_02: Like, right.
- 13:32SPEAKER_02: Eat each other.
- 13:33SPEAKER_04: Couldn't do it without them.
- 13:34SPEAKER_04: Like, they're like my right and left.
- 13:36SPEAKER_04: Like, yeah.
- 13:37SPEAKER_04: For the business, it's like, if I need, like, if I'm busy and I'm like, hey, I can you go run and do that, they're like, okay, whoever has free time.
- 13:44SPEAKER_02: Like, and we at least make sure one of us stays when we go on vacation, um, you know, to help just make sure just that is amazing.
- 13:54SPEAKER_07: Yeah, it's like you guys are so selfless.
- 13:57SPEAKER_07: Yeah, like it's not selfish in it, it's self-we're definitely selfless.
- 14:01SPEAKER_04: Because when one of us wins, we all win.
- 14:04SPEAKER_04: Like whoever wins first.
- 14:05SPEAKER_04: Hey, we're all winning.
- 14:06SPEAKER_04: Girl, give me some.
- 14:08SPEAKER_02: Who's gonna win first?
- 14:09SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 14:09SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 14:09SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 14:10SPEAKER_03: We all gonna win motion.
- 14:11SPEAKER_03: Yeah, but yeah.
- 14:14SPEAKER_02: Because Sophie started the salon and brought us all in to have a place to work, um, a great environment, um, all of that.
- 14:23SPEAKER_02: So we're very appreciative of our sister.
- 14:27SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 14:27SPEAKER_02: Don't make the cry.
- 14:30SPEAKER_04: I love it.
- 14:31SPEAKER_04: And we also have like three other siblings.
- 14:33SPEAKER_04: So I want to give a shout out to Michael Fonso and Tamika, our baby sister.
- 14:38SPEAKER_04: She also has a hand in the business.
- 14:40SPEAKER_04: Also, she does all our marketing materials, our websites.
- 14:43SPEAKER_04: So she's behind the scenes.
- 14:45SPEAKER_04: And then our brothers, they just cheer us on.
- 14:47SPEAKER_04: They're always like our marketing people like, hey, my sisters have a salon, or hey, my sisters do hair.
- 14:52SPEAKER_07: And then I remember you said that they help you with the salon too.
- 14:54SPEAKER_07: I remember you said your daddy knocked down the hair.
- 14:57SPEAKER_04: Yeah, oh yeah.
- 14:57SPEAKER_04: Handyman, my brother, yeah, my older brother, he's like a great handyman.
- 15:01SPEAKER_04: So anytime I need anything fixed, like they put the floors in, him and my sister, she's the handy woman too.
- 15:07SPEAKER_04: So you know, everybody just works there, they do all the aesthetics of the salon.
- 15:13SPEAKER_04: Yeah, and then our mom, she's marketing also.
- 15:15SPEAKER_04: So she goes around town when she goes to the doctor, they're like, hey, you know, she's fashion out our cars, like, hey, my daughters have a salon.
- 15:23SPEAKER_07: And I think she had a birthday too.
- 15:28SPEAKER_04: Yes, and still going.
- 15:30SPEAKER_02: Yes, she'd be in the streets more than we for real.
- 15:33SPEAKER_07: Yes, I gotta meet you, mama.
- 15:35SPEAKER_02: She'd be in the streets, yeah.
- 15:37SPEAKER_02: She'd be riding the bus.
- 15:39SPEAKER_07: She got the best ministry.
- 15:41SPEAKER_07: Are you serious?
- 15:43SPEAKER_07: Well, that's good.
- 15:43SPEAKER_07: Do you guys still do her hair?
- 15:45SPEAKER_07: Yes.
- 15:45SPEAKER_07: Yes.
- 15:45SPEAKER_07: Which one out of all three of y'all, or just okay?
- 15:47SPEAKER_07: Whoever's available.
- 15:48SPEAKER_07: Yeah, me and that's what I'm talking about.
- 15:53SPEAKER_07: And then inside the business, when they are helping you, say the family, they're not looking for no money, huh?
- 15:59SPEAKER_07: Like, you know how some people will be like, oh, I'll help you.
- 16:02SPEAKER_07: Um, could you pay me?
- 16:03SPEAKER_07: Or is it kind of like, no, you know what?
- 16:05SPEAKER_07: Let me help you guys out.
- 16:06SPEAKER_07: And then if you want to offer them something, you will.
- 16:09SPEAKER_07: But they're not coming in trying to get money.
- 16:11SPEAKER_07: No, but I do.
- 16:12SPEAKER_07: But we give.
- 16:15SPEAKER_04: Why would I not pay my siblings or anyone who's doing work for me?
- 16:19SPEAKER_04: Like, it's just only right.
- 16:21SPEAKER_04: Like it's time, it's effort, and I mean, you have to put yourself in those shoes.
- 16:26SPEAKER_04: Like, do you want me to do somebody's hair for free, like every day, all day?
- 16:28SPEAKER_04: No, that's my skill, you know, my livelihood.
- 16:32SPEAKER_04: So yes, I do pay whoever is doing work for me.
- 16:35SPEAKER_02: We pay anyway, like, even if we be fighting.
- 16:38SPEAKER_02: That's the thing.
- 16:39SPEAKER_02: We do.
- 16:39SPEAKER_02: We fight when we go out, it's bad.
- 16:43SPEAKER_02: It's bad.
- 16:43SPEAKER_02: We're gonna fight on who's gonna pay.
- 16:45SPEAKER_02: We pushing each other, trying to get our heart to tap on the machine, you giving cash.
- 16:52SPEAKER_02: It's not good.
- 16:53SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it's not good.
- 16:54SPEAKER_07: Are you serious?
- 16:55SPEAKER_07: Yes.
- 16:55SPEAKER_07: I'm I'm in y'all's sisterhood, okay?
- 16:59SPEAKER_06: Y'all said 67, okay?
- 17:01SPEAKER_07: Okay, because that's amazing that y'all are able to just support each other like that.
- 17:06SPEAKER_07: And you like, no, you don't pay, I'll pay.
- 17:08SPEAKER_07: And then if you don't, I'll pay this time, and it's kind of like you guys are arguing because y'all want to take over.
- 17:13SPEAKER_07: Yeah, we want to pay.
- 17:14SPEAKER_07: It's like a spirit, yeah.
- 17:16SPEAKER_02: We don't want our blessings being blocked.
- 17:18SPEAKER_02: Exactly.
- 17:19SPEAKER_02: But sometimes we have a problem with receiving.
- 17:22SPEAKER_02: So that's our problem.
- 17:24SPEAKER_02: Like, um, sometimes we have to receive so that we don't block the other person's blessing.
- 17:30SPEAKER_02: Yeah, you know, right.
- 17:31SPEAKER_02: And we had to learn that.
- 17:32SPEAKER_02: We had to learn to just receive.
- 17:34SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 17:35SPEAKER_02: We like to give, yeah, but it's very hard for us to receive.
- 17:38SPEAKER_02: And when we do receive, we have to understand that if they give it to us willingly, that we will block their blessings if we don't take it.
- 17:48SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 17:49SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 17:49SPEAKER_07: And that's that's amazing too, because like you said, you're so much of giving.
- 17:53SPEAKER_07: It's like, how can I receive when I want to give?
- 17:55SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 17:56SPEAKER_07: But y'all gotta, you gotta take the gift.
- 17:58SPEAKER_07: You do give it.
- 17:59SPEAKER_02: You do.
- 17:59SPEAKER_02: I've learned that.
- 18:00SPEAKER_02: I've learned that.
- 18:01SPEAKER_02: We're learning.
- 18:02SPEAKER_07: Right.
- 18:04SPEAKER_07: Yeah, like for real.
- 18:05SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 18:06SPEAKER_07: Because that's amazing.
- 18:07SPEAKER_07: I keep telling y'all that because it's so many people that's now in a business or starting a business or just trying to do something, and they so selfish.
- 18:15SPEAKER_07: Yes.
- 18:16SPEAKER_07: Like, y'all don't deal with none of that.
- 18:18SPEAKER_07: With um, what about anybody on the outside of the sisters?
- 18:20SPEAKER_07: Like, you're never dealt with anybody trying to like come and mess up the plan or come to the city.
- 18:26SPEAKER_04: They can't mess up what God has already orchestrated.
- 18:29SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 18:30SPEAKER_04: And we always keep God first.
- 18:31SPEAKER_04: So this is really God's line.
- 18:33SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 18:34SPEAKER_04: Like, we use our platform and our business to reach other people, to serve other people, to help other people, to make people feel beautiful.
- 18:42SPEAKER_04: So that's in a way like our ministry.
- 18:44SPEAKER_04: We grew up like preachers, kids, but sometimes it's not always being behind the podium at the church.
- 18:50SPEAKER_04: It's being where we are, meeting people where they are every day.
- 18:54SPEAKER_04: So we meet them behind our chair and in our business.
- 18:57SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 18:58SPEAKER_04: That's our ministry.
- 18:59SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 18:59SPEAKER_07: And you are exciting people's lives because you make them feel good.
- 19:02SPEAKER_07: Yes.
- 19:03SPEAKER_07: They're being heard.
- 19:04SPEAKER_02: Yep.
- 19:04SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 19:05SPEAKER_07: And they know they can come to a supportive, yeah.
- 19:08SPEAKER_07: Supportive place.
- 19:09SPEAKER_07: Exactly.
- 19:10SPEAKER_07: Family oriented.
- 19:12SPEAKER_02: The vibe is we try to make sure it's family welcoming and no judgment.
- 19:19SPEAKER_02: Um, we know who our provider is.
- 19:21SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 19:22SPEAKER_02: God.
- 19:22SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 19:23SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 19:23SPEAKER_02: So when you know who that is and you're confident in who that is, you don't have to worry about the outside people.
- 19:30SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 19:30SPEAKER_04: Never.
- 19:31SPEAKER_04: And of course, you're always gonna have like noise or people who are like looking at you with a side eye or like, why are they doing this?
- 19:37SPEAKER_04: Or what are we doing?
- 19:38SPEAKER_04: That's but it's not for you to understand.
- 19:40SPEAKER_04: Exactly.
- 19:40SPEAKER_04: It's our vision, my vision, you know, our purpose.
- 19:44SPEAKER_04: So you can say what you want to say, but as long as God He has the final say, and as long as He's directing us and in our corner, we don't really need anyone else.
- 19:54SPEAKER_04: You know, because He's gonna put the people that are supposed to be in your life, the people to push you forward, you know, and sometimes you have to block out all the other noise.
- 20:03SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 20:03SPEAKER_04: And sometimes He gives us intuition and discernment to like kind of see those people before they come.
- 20:09SPEAKER_04: Like we may not say much, but I see you.
- 20:12SPEAKER_07: You know, yeah, yeah, for sure.
- 20:14SPEAKER_07: Because there's some people that will try to break a bond that's so close.
- 20:17SPEAKER_02: Yeah, we unbreak it.
- 20:19SPEAKER_02: We if if our bond breaks, it's because we broke it within each other, right?
- 20:24SPEAKER_04: Yeah, but people have asked us before, like, oh, do you guys fight?
- 20:28SPEAKER_04: Like, yes, we have disagreements.
- 20:29SPEAKER_04: We don't get on each other, nerfs, yeah.
- 20:32SPEAKER_04: But like we've never gotten in a fist fight.
- 20:33SPEAKER_04: Like, why would I fight my sister?
- 20:35SPEAKER_04: Like, of course, it's three personalities or six personalities coming together, but we work it out like whatever hey, a misunderstanding, we just work it out and move forward.
- 20:45SPEAKER_04: Yeah, your siblings are basically this the people that you know most of your life from the beginning of your birth to the end of your life.
- 20:53SPEAKER_07: That is true.
- 20:54SPEAKER_04: So if you don't have your siblings, like you know.
- 20:57SPEAKER_07: But then that's like so.
- 20:58SPEAKER_07: When you guys have a so if you well, you said earlier, if y'all have a disagreement, y'all just give each other a break.
- 21:05SPEAKER_07: But what would you say to the people who do get into it with their siblings and they don't understand that your siblings is very important to your life?
- 21:14SPEAKER_07: Like, you know what?
- 21:16SPEAKER_02: Well, I've learned over these uh past years is that life is short.
- 21:23SPEAKER_02: And it's like, do you want to live the rest of your life holding a grudge for something that could have been communicated properly?
- 21:32SPEAKER_02: Most of the time it's communication.
- 21:34SPEAKER_02: Yeah, people are assuming you don't like them or you this and that.
- 21:38SPEAKER_02: And it's not, it don't even be that.
- 21:41SPEAKER_02: Yeah, you know, it just be a miscommunication.
- 21:44SPEAKER_02: Like you could have talked it out or you could have worked it out, you know.
- 21:48SPEAKER_02: Yeah, but people hold things in their heart, they hold a lot of grudges, they they don't do forgiveness.
- 21:55SPEAKER_02: That's like number one.
- 21:57SPEAKER_02: Yeah, forgiveness is not for the Person.
- 22:00SPEAKER_02: It's for you.
- 22:01SPEAKER_08: Amen.
- 22:02SPEAKER_02: And so, like, when you start to forgive, you start to free yourself.
- 22:07SPEAKER_02: No matter what the other person did to you.
- 22:10SPEAKER_02: Like, somebody's gonna always do something to you, you know.
- 22:14SPEAKER_02: I mean, uh how many people you gonna count to hold a grudge against?
- 22:17SPEAKER_02: Like, you're gonna just walk around and be bitter the rest of your life, and you know what?
- 22:21SPEAKER_02: By you doing that, it goes to your kids.
- 22:24SPEAKER_02: Your kids start to take on that black unforgiveness.
- 22:28SPEAKER_02: They start to take on those grudges, oh, well, my mom don't like this person, so I'm not gonna like her either.
- 22:34SPEAKER_02: But you don't, you don't um have your own, you know, concept or identity of what that was.
- 22:44SPEAKER_07: Yes.
- 22:44SPEAKER_07: Instead of breaking cycles, they're just making more cycles toxic.
- 22:48SPEAKER_02: More toxic.
- 22:50SPEAKER_02: When all you had to do, you know, uh apology goes a long way.
- 22:53SPEAKER_07: Some people cannot apologize, girl.
- 22:55SPEAKER_02: Because of the pride.
- 22:56SPEAKER_02: Pride.
- 22:57SPEAKER_07: Pride and ego, huh?
- 22:58SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 22:58SPEAKER_02: Right and ego.
- 22:59SPEAKER_07: And you guys don't have that though.
- 23:00SPEAKER_07: They don't have that.
- 23:01SPEAKER_02: You gotta let go.
- 23:03SPEAKER_02: We try not to have it.
- 23:05SPEAKER_02: You know, we're still human.
- 23:06SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 23:07SPEAKER_02: Um, we still, you know, go through life.
- 23:10SPEAKER_02: We're not perfect at by any means at all.
- 23:13SPEAKER_02: The only perfect person is Jesus.
- 23:15SPEAKER_02: Period.
- 23:16SPEAKER_02: So when we try to um go through this life, of course, we're gonna have, you know, opinions.
- 23:25SPEAKER_02: That's just our opinion, though.
- 23:27SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 23:28SPEAKER_02: You don't have to act on it.
- 23:29SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 23:30SPEAKER_07: And I was gonna ask you guys, so when tragedy hit first, because it was the father, daddy first, right?
- 23:35SPEAKER_07: Oh, yeah.
- 23:36SPEAKER_07: How was you guys able to, when tragedy hit, like how were you guys able to stay together?
- 23:41SPEAKER_02: Our process is working, honestly.
- 23:44SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 23:45SPEAKER_04: We came to work, like our father passed on a Saturday.
- 23:48SPEAKER_04: We came to work on Tuesday, the other day.
- 23:51SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 23:51SPEAKER_04: Um, and we just talk it out, like, but we I feel like we spent a lot of time with like our dad, like going through life.
- 24:00SPEAKER_04: So it's like you don't really have regrets.
- 24:04SPEAKER_04: Like, we did everything we could for our parents, our, you know, our dad.
- 24:08SPEAKER_04: So he was amazing, yeah.
- 24:10SPEAKER_04: Supporting instilled so much in us that we still carry on his legacy.
- 24:14SPEAKER_07: And none of you guys broke up.
- 24:15SPEAKER_04: But I might need a tissue.
- 24:16SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah.
- 24:18SPEAKER_07: Yeah, we yeah, we're gonna, because yeah, I know it's some, you know, it's more tragedies.
- 24:21SPEAKER_07: That's why I told y'all, you know, through all of this, they're still able to remain together with a lot of trials and um tragedies happening.
- 24:31SPEAKER_07: And that's why I really admire you guys.
- 24:34SPEAKER_07: Because after your father, some people could have probably like, oh, I feel this way or you feel that way, and then we break up.
- 24:41SPEAKER_02: Absolutely, absolutely.
- 24:42SPEAKER_07: But y'all didn't.
- 24:44SPEAKER_02: And I'm sure people wanted us to, yeah, or thought we would.
- 24:48SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 24:49SPEAKER_02: But I give all the glory to God.
- 24:51SPEAKER_02: Yeah, all the credits.
- 24:53SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 24:54SPEAKER_02: Like, honestly, um, oh my God.
- 24:58SPEAKER_07: I don't know if we have a tissue yet.
- 24:59SPEAKER_07: Cause I was about to say, I know you've been through a lot.
- 25:02SPEAKER_07: Yeah you've been through.
- 25:03SPEAKER_07: I am literally, yeah, yeah.
- 25:06SPEAKER_07: Um she's the strongest person.
- 25:09SPEAKER_07: Because I was about to say no.
- 25:10SPEAKER_07: Yeah, because I was about to say baby girl.
- 25:13SPEAKER_07: And we're gonna honor, you know, your late husband too.
- 25:15SPEAKER_07: Yes, yes.
- 25:17SPEAKER_07: Um, shout out to Trill, right?
- 25:18SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 25:19SPEAKER_07: Shout out to Trill.
- 25:20SPEAKER_07: Yes, you guys.
- 25:22SPEAKER_07: Yes, girl.
- 25:23SPEAKER_07: Oh my god, y'all know I cry too, okay?
- 25:25SPEAKER_07: Sorry.
- 25:25SPEAKER_07: No, it's okay, because girl, I will cry with you.
- 25:27SPEAKER_07: I'm telling you, girl, you got me, I'm about to start crying, y'all.
- 25:31SPEAKER_07: My eyelash is gonna fall out.
- 25:32SPEAKER_07: This is right.
- 25:33SPEAKER_07: And then how do you guys come for her?
- 25:35SPEAKER_07: Like, how do you guys feel support her?
- 25:37SPEAKER_07: Or that you feel supported, huh?
- 25:40SPEAKER_07: Of course.
- 25:40SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 25:41SPEAKER_04: Without them, yeah.
- 25:43SPEAKER_04: Whatever she needs, we're here.
- 25:45SPEAKER_04: Whatever day she's having, like, if she's like sad or mad, I mean, because you have to go through different emotions when you're grieving.
- 25:52SPEAKER_04: And of course, we're grieving too, because that was our brother, our niece, or our dad.
- 25:56SPEAKER_04: Like, um, so whatever she's feeling, like I try to be with, we try to be with her every day.
- 26:02SPEAKER_04: Like, just don't let her have any like lonely periods.
- 26:05SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 26:05SPEAKER_04: Because you always have to be around somewhere.
- 26:08SPEAKER_04: That is important.
- 26:09SPEAKER_02: You shouldn't be alone like when you're grieving, you know.
- 26:13SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 26:13SPEAKER_02: And to I've been through so much grief.
- 26:16SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 26:17SPEAKER_09: So sorry.
- 26:18SPEAKER_09: No, it's okay.
- 26:19SPEAKER_07: This is girl, from pain to purpose.
- 26:21SPEAKER_07: Yes.
- 26:22SPEAKER_07: Because this is hard.
- 26:24SPEAKER_04: So many people that have been through what she's been through, they would have been in a nut house right now.
- 26:30SPEAKER_04: Or falling apart in the family.
- 26:33SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 26:34SPEAKER_04: Like laying in the bed and don't even want to get up.
- 26:36SPEAKER_04: Like you could be there.
- 26:37SPEAKER_07: I don't drink, I don't smoke, I don't So you take all of this emotions in sober.
- 26:42SPEAKER_07: Yeah, right.
- 26:43SPEAKER_07: I do.
- 26:44SPEAKER_02: I do.
- 26:45SPEAKER_02: You strongly and still able to help people when I'm working.
- 26:49SPEAKER_02: You know, they'll never know.
- 26:51SPEAKER_02: I've been through any of this unless they ask me.
- 26:54SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 26:54SPEAKER_02: But I don't hold on to nothing.
- 26:56SPEAKER_02: I try to help other people poor grieving out too.
- 26:59SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 26:59SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 27:00SPEAKER_01: It's so fresh, you know?
- 27:02SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 27:03SPEAKER_08: It is.
- 27:04SPEAKER_02: And I just grief is someone told me that grief is love that has nowhere to go.
- 27:13SPEAKER_02: Once that person leaves, the love is still there.
- 27:16SPEAKER_02: So you don't know where to put it.
- 27:18SPEAKER_02: And that's why I direct it to other things.
- 27:22SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 27:23SPEAKER_02: Into pain, turning it into a purpose.
- 27:26SPEAKER_02: Yeah, exactly.
- 27:27SPEAKER_02: It doesn't serve me any purpose to wallow in my grief.
- 27:31SPEAKER_02: So like people would ask me, they're like, How is she working?
- 27:35SPEAKER_02: Why is she at work right now?
- 27:37SPEAKER_02: And it's like, look, I don't want to be broke and laying in the bed.
- 27:41SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah, right, girl.
- 27:42SPEAKER_02: We need that money.
- 27:44SPEAKER_02: Like, like, they don't understand that.
- 27:47SPEAKER_02: Like, me laying in the bed doing nothing is like is not serving any purpose.
- 27:52SPEAKER_07: I think it puts you in a deeper depression.
- 27:54SPEAKER_07: Right.
- 27:54SPEAKER_04: It does.
- 27:55SPEAKER_04: They would even text us, like, hey, I want to text your sister, but you know, I don't want to bother her.
- 28:00SPEAKER_04: I'm like, my sister is like with an appointment.
- 28:04SPEAKER_04: She's here working.
- 28:05SPEAKER_02: Yeah, so book your appointment.
- 28:06SPEAKER_02: I'm working in this camera right here.
- 28:09SPEAKER_02: I'm good.
- 28:11SPEAKER_02: I'm gonna make you look beautiful.
- 28:13SPEAKER_09: Yes.
- 28:14SPEAKER_02: But also, I have a daughter, six-year-old daughter that is watching me.
- 28:18SPEAKER_07: Yes, baby girl.
- 28:20SPEAKER_02: I do not want her to go into that place.
- 28:24SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 28:24SPEAKER_02: And it's really hard to get out of it.
- 28:27SPEAKER_02: You know?
- 28:28SPEAKER_02: And so by she's watching me that way, she's surrounded by a lot of people.
- 28:33SPEAKER_02: I I'm trying to figure out her process.
- 28:35SPEAKER_02: You know, I don't know what her process is.
- 28:39SPEAKER_02: Um at this young age, losing a father who was very, very present in her life from a baby.
- 28:46SPEAKER_02: Yeah you know?
- 28:47SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 28:48SPEAKER_02: I never missed a doctor's appointment.
- 28:50SPEAKER_02: I was always there with her daddy's girl.
- 28:54SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 28:54SPEAKER_02: She was such a daddy's girl, she wouldn't even eat my food.
- 28:57SPEAKER_02: I had to start lying, saying, Oh, daddy made it.
- 29:01SPEAKER_02: Daddy made this food.
- 29:02SPEAKER_02: Oh, do that to my girl.
- 29:04SPEAKER_01: So she would eat it.
- 29:06SPEAKER_02: So it's really funny that, you know, um he's not here.
- 29:12SPEAKER_02: And um how she's dealing with it.
- 29:14SPEAKER_02: She's she's also very strong.
- 29:16SPEAKER_08: You know, she is resilient.
- 29:18SPEAKER_02: She keeps me going.
- 29:20SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 29:21SPEAKER_02: And you know, um life is short.
- 29:25SPEAKER_02: We don't we don't know when our time could be, you know.
- 29:29SPEAKER_02: And so what are people gonna say about you when you leave?
- 29:34SPEAKER_02: Are they gonna show up to your funeral?
- 29:36SPEAKER_02: You know?
- 29:37SPEAKER_02: Like you have to think about those things.
- 29:39SPEAKER_02: What impact are you making in this life?
- 29:43SPEAKER_02: By you holding a grudge and harboring unforgiveness, that's not helping.
- 29:49SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it's not helping.
- 29:51SPEAKER_07: It's not.
- 29:51SPEAKER_07: And I was gonna say, I don't even know if some people just because I've dealt with grief.
- 29:58SPEAKER_02: Yes, yes.
- 29:59SPEAKER_07: And I was gonna say, I don't even know if people would know how to continue to go.
- 30:04SPEAKER_07: Because some people would just give up.
- 30:06SPEAKER_07: Like some do.
- 30:07SPEAKER_07: It's very hard.
- 30:08SPEAKER_07: This podcast is the reason why I didn't give up.
- 30:11SPEAKER_02: Yes, exactly.
- 30:12SPEAKER_02: That's your purpose.
- 30:13SPEAKER_02: That's your purpose, and that's why I started the nonprofit in honor of my daughter.
- 30:18SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 30:18SPEAKER_02: Um, the hit beauty collective.
- 30:21SPEAKER_02: Yep, I remember here.
- 30:22SPEAKER_02: Yes, yes.
- 30:23SPEAKER_02: So um I started that.
- 30:25SPEAKER_02: Matter of fact, she came up with the whole concept.
- 30:28SPEAKER_02: She used to be in the salon, mommy.
- 30:31SPEAKER_02: Um, I'm a hit.
- 30:32SPEAKER_02: And I'm like, oh, what's that?
- 30:35SPEAKER_02: And she was like, it's hairstyles and training.
- 30:38SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 30:39SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yes.
- 30:40SPEAKER_02: I'm like, for real.
- 30:41SPEAKER_02: Okay, that's very clever.
- 30:43SPEAKER_02: And so I started that, and now with my husband, um he he was a music artist, so he left a lot of music here.
- 30:52SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 30:53SPEAKER_02: So now I'm just, you know, trying to get that out.
- 30:56SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 30:57SPEAKER_02: Um, I just dropped a song called Let's Dip.
- 31:02SPEAKER_02: It's on all the platforms.
- 31:03SPEAKER_02: And you performing it?
- 31:04SPEAKER_02: She's singing.
- 31:05SPEAKER_02: I'm I'm on a four-bar.
- 31:06SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 31:07SPEAKER_02: I'm on a four-bar hook.
- 31:08SPEAKER_02: No, you better give yourself a four-bar.
- 31:10SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 31:10SPEAKER_02: A good four-bar.
- 31:12SPEAKER_02: I'm on a four-bar hook, but you can download it.
- 31:15SPEAKER_02: Spotify, Apple.
- 31:16SPEAKER_02: Spotify.
- 31:17SPEAKER_02: And you said the name one more time of the song?
- 31:19SPEAKER_02: Let's Dip.
- 31:20SPEAKER_02: Let's Dip, y'all.
- 31:21SPEAKER_02: Trilli.
- 31:22SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 31:23SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 31:24SPEAKER_02: And so, yeah.
- 31:25SPEAKER_02: And that was an amazing thing because I I did it for his birthday.
- 31:30SPEAKER_02: You know, because I didn't know what else I could do.
- 31:32SPEAKER_02: And I didn't think it would come out, you know, as amazing as it did, but thanks to the team.
- 31:39SPEAKER_01: You know who you are.
- 31:40SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 31:41SPEAKER_01: It's always a team.
- 31:42SPEAKER_02: Um they really helped me push this out.
- 31:47SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 31:47SPEAKER_02: It's amazing.
- 31:48SPEAKER_02: Even my baby's on the end of it.
- 31:50SPEAKER_02: So she put her stamp on it.
- 31:53SPEAKER_02: So I'm just gonna continue doing that, pushing more music um in his legacy.
- 31:59SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 32:00SPEAKER_02: And yeah.
- 32:01SPEAKER_04: And our sister has a beautiful like songbird voice.
- 32:04SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 32:04SPEAKER_04: She doesn't like to say it, but she is made to sing.
- 32:08SPEAKER_04: I'm not singing on this.
- 32:09SPEAKER_04: Are you nervous?
- 32:10SPEAKER_06: She's nervous?
- 32:11SPEAKER_02: No, because I'm not singing.
- 32:12SPEAKER_02: No, because girl, you can sing.
- 32:14SPEAKER_02: I'm just saying.
- 32:16SPEAKER_02: Listen, it's a muscle.
- 32:17SPEAKER_02: You gotta exercise it.
- 32:19SPEAKER_06: Okay, girl, because I can't sing, but I'll try it if I took her out.
- 32:23SPEAKER_06: I told you I embarrassed myself before I let you figure out.
- 32:26SPEAKER_06: Okay.
- 32:27SPEAKER_02: That's the only time you're gonna hear me is on them four bars.
- 32:31SPEAKER_02: So go get the song, y'all.
- 32:33SPEAKER_07: She said y'all ain't no live performance yet.
- 32:35SPEAKER_07: Yeah, yeah.
- 32:36SPEAKER_07: We're gonna speak it until it exists.
- 32:38SPEAKER_07: Right.
- 32:38SPEAKER_07: And after all of this that happened, none of you guys never decided on giving up.
- 32:42SPEAKER_02: Like all of it is going harder.
- 32:45SPEAKER_02: That's where you're trying to go harder.
- 32:46SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 32:48SPEAKER_02: We're going hard until our time is up.
- 32:51SPEAKER_02: Because that means we're left here.
- 32:53SPEAKER_02: We still have stuff to do.
- 32:55SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 32:56SPEAKER_02: You know?
- 32:56SPEAKER_02: Like my husband, he would always get stuff done early.
- 32:59SPEAKER_02: So I'm not surprised at him getting whatever he had to do here on earth done early.
- 33:06SPEAKER_07: And then with that happening, that just happened out of nowhere, right?
- 33:09SPEAKER_07: Just unexpectedly.
- 33:10SPEAKER_02: It just happened six months ago.
- 33:14SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 33:14SPEAKER_02: In October.
- 33:16SPEAKER_02: I was talking to him on the phone all the way home.
- 33:20SPEAKER_02: I'm the one that found him.
- 33:22SPEAKER_02: And even when my daughter, see, people don't understand the mental capacity that it takes to deal with what I'm dealing with.
- 33:31SPEAKER_02: You know.
- 33:32SPEAKER_02: They see me, you know, but they don't see the mental work that it takes.
- 33:38SPEAKER_02: And if you don't have a village surrounded by you, and if you don't have God, I can't stress that enough because it's not me.
- 33:47SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 33:47SPEAKER_02: They ask me every day, and I tell them, it's not me.
- 33:50SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 33:51SPEAKER_02: It's God that is holding me together.
- 33:54SPEAKER_02: So if you don't know him, you better find him.
- 33:57SPEAKER_02: Please get to know him.
- 33:59SPEAKER_02: He's here.
- 33:59SPEAKER_02: Because I'm a living proof that you can still make it.
- 34:04SPEAKER_07: Girl, testimony.
- 34:05SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 34:05SPEAKER_07: Period.
- 34:06SPEAKER_07: And then with y'all being so supportive.
- 34:08SPEAKER_07: Like I love y'all for that.
- 34:09SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 34:10SPEAKER_07: No, I'm I'm so serious because I'm I don't talk to all my sisters.
- 34:15SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 34:16SPEAKER_07: And it hurts me.
- 34:17SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 34:18SPEAKER_07: So with y'all to be here, like I already told y'all when I met y'all, y'all don't make me cry.
- 34:21SPEAKER_07: You are sisters, when I met y'all and just being able to support each other and love each other and not hate on each other.
- 34:28SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 34:29SPEAKER_07: Let me give y'all a clap, okay?
- 34:30SPEAKER_07: Y'all for real, because that's what it's about.
- 34:33SPEAKER_07: Like seriously.
- 34:35SPEAKER_07: And it hurts, but but you are sis.
- 34:39SPEAKER_05: Don't bring your other sisters in the phone to exactly.
- 34:42SPEAKER_05: Thank you.
- 34:43SPEAKER_04: There's always hope.
- 34:43SPEAKER_04: It doesn't have to be blood to be our sister.
- 34:47SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 34:48SPEAKER_07: We're going to come sit in y'all's shop and dump on y'all.
- 34:50SPEAKER_07: Yeah, come on for more.
- 34:51SPEAKER_02: We can have a podcast there if you like.
- 34:53SPEAKER_02: Yeah, for real.
- 34:54SPEAKER_02: And you know what?
- 34:55SPEAKER_02: It it's okay.
- 34:56SPEAKER_02: I don't mind being dumped on.
- 34:58SPEAKER_02: Um, I take it out at the end of the night.
- 35:02SPEAKER_02: And you know, if God gives me this grace to keep helping others, I'm gonna continue to do that no matter what I'm going through, you know?
- 35:11SPEAKER_02: It'll help somebody else.
- 35:13SPEAKER_07: That's what I'm talking about.
- 35:15SPEAKER_07: And okay, so listen, I'm gonna go ahead to the games because we was kind of a little, yeah, no, no, because I'm like, you know, we're gonna break it a little bit, we're gonna make it a little, you know, because we was crying every year.
- 35:28SPEAKER_07: Yeah, okay, because I I love it.
- 35:30SPEAKER_07: But we have a game, and I'm gonna give a shout out to my baby Zamira, because she made sure to say, make sure y'all put sister edition.
- 35:38SPEAKER_07: So we got the who's most likely.
- 35:40SPEAKER_07: Oh, Lord G.
- 35:41SPEAKER_07: Who's most likely sister edition, okay?
- 35:45SPEAKER_09: Yeah, okay.
- 35:46SPEAKER_09: All right, scary.
- 35:46SPEAKER_06: So yeah, so we did cry a little bit, now we laugh.
- 35:49SPEAKER_06: Cry.
- 35:51SPEAKER_06: What's Drake's song called?
- 35:52SPEAKER_06: Cry now, what do you say?
- 35:54SPEAKER_06: Don't give me the line.
- 35:55SPEAKER_06: I don't know.
- 35:57SPEAKER_06: What is it?
- 35:57SPEAKER_07: Cry now, laugh later, some shit like that, okay?
- 36:00SPEAKER_07: But who's most likely to show up on time?
- 36:04SPEAKER_07: Me.
- 36:05SPEAKER_05: Her.
- 36:05SPEAKER_05: You always on time?
- 36:06SPEAKER_05: Yes.
- 36:07SPEAKER_07: And which one show up late?
- 36:14SPEAKER_00: Listen, go ahead and let her explain her.
- 36:20SPEAKER_04: No, I wasn't.
- 36:21SPEAKER_04: I had I had everything orchestrated today.
- 36:24SPEAKER_04: We were early, 20 minutes early.
- 36:27SPEAKER_04: I was up.
- 36:28SPEAKER_04: I had to go.
- 36:29SPEAKER_04: No, okay, so this is the problem why I'm always late, because I'm always doing stuff for them.
- 36:35SPEAKER_04: I just want to get myself ready, but then, hey, can you do this?
- 36:38SPEAKER_04: Can you do this?
- 36:39SPEAKER_04: Yeah, you know, and then like leaving the salon, I'm always the one that has to like finish making sure everything's cleaned, or you know, they can just go.
- 36:46SPEAKER_07: Okay, so you're the last one in the salon.
- 36:48SPEAKER_07: Yes, okay.
- 36:49SPEAKER_04: No, not most of the times.
- 36:52SPEAKER_01: I'm there with this.
- 36:54SPEAKER_04: But it's like always something going on with me.
- 36:56SPEAKER_04: So it's like, always.
- 36:57SPEAKER_04: I'm always late.
- 37:00SPEAKER_04: Late too.
- 37:01SPEAKER_04: So no.
- 37:02SPEAKER_01: I am way better than you.
- 37:05SPEAKER_01: No, way better.
- 37:07SPEAKER_01: Falling in the door.
- 37:08SPEAKER_01: I'm falling in the door.
- 37:10SPEAKER_01: My clients know.
- 37:11unknown: They know.
- 37:11SPEAKER_04: My clients too.
- 37:12SPEAKER_01: They late no, they know from Sacramento.
- 37:15SPEAKER_02: Okay, you never know what's gonna happen.
- 37:16SPEAKER_02: There's gonna be an accident where you come in.
- 37:18SPEAKER_04: Coming from home.
- 37:20SPEAKER_04: But I will get you out on time.
- 37:22SPEAKER_07: Yeah, see, there you might be a few minutes late, man.
- 37:24SPEAKER_07: Yeah, you're gonna be you leaving out on and you looking good, feeling good.
- 37:27SPEAKER_03: And you still gonna book that appointment.
- 37:29SPEAKER_03: Yeah, and you still gonna book it.
- 37:30SPEAKER_07: That's what I'm talking about.
- 37:32SPEAKER_03: Our clients give us grace.
- 37:33SPEAKER_03: Yeah, they do.
- 37:34SPEAKER_07: It's customers.
- 37:35SPEAKER_03: We love our clients.
- 37:36SPEAKER_07: Yeah, shout out to the client.
- 37:39SPEAKER_07: And the new ones too.
- 37:40SPEAKER_07: Because once y'all see this episode, I already told y'all.
- 37:43SPEAKER_07: It's um Bacchaville.
- 37:44SPEAKER_07: Yes.
- 37:44SPEAKER_07: Salon Philosophy.
- 37:46SPEAKER_07: Did I say it right?
- 37:47SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 37:47SPEAKER_04: 116 P body.
- 37:48SPEAKER_04: Yes, you did.
- 37:49SPEAKER_04: All right, okay.
- 37:50SPEAKER_07: So we know what sister is on time.
- 37:52SPEAKER_07: We know what sister lit.
- 37:55SPEAKER_07: What out of all of you guys like to spend the most money on the trips?
- 37:59SPEAKER_07: Because y'all was just telling me y'all be fighting on who to pay.
- 38:01SPEAKER_07: But when y'all go on vacations, who's spending the most?
- 38:05SPEAKER_03: Uh husband.
- 38:07SPEAKER_03: The elders.
- 38:09SPEAKER_02: I'm gonna say the elders because they don't usually want me to pay.
- 38:14SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 38:15SPEAKER_02: So okay, baby.
- 38:17SPEAKER_02: I'm gonna say that elders, they take really good care of their baby.
- 38:21SPEAKER_04: We share the load, but I feel like the elder, yeah.
- 38:24SPEAKER_04: My she she always the one, like she's crazy, trying to grab the jack.
- 38:29SPEAKER_02: She's crazy with the money.
- 38:30SPEAKER_02: Like she'll she will not be able to get the city.
- 38:32SPEAKER_02: She wants to be older.
- 38:34SPEAKER_07: She will be older sister.
- 38:35SPEAKER_07: But how do that make you feel?
- 38:37SPEAKER_07: Like, does it make you feel good in the one that you can take care of your yes?
- 38:40SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 38:41SPEAKER_03: Who wouldn't want to take care of your skin?
- 38:43SPEAKER_03: Exactly.
- 38:44SPEAKER_03: Being the oldest.
- 38:45SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 38:45SPEAKER_03: She's the mama.
- 38:46SPEAKER_07: They say that mama is.
- 38:48SPEAKER_07: But that's a good role.
- 38:49SPEAKER_07: Because you know, some, you the first oldest, right?
- 38:52SPEAKER_07: The first girl.
- 38:53SPEAKER_07: The first girl.
- 38:54SPEAKER_07: Because I was gonna say, sometimes they say the first oldest is kind of like they get upset or not because it's the other kids that come after them.
- 39:02SPEAKER_07: So it's kind of like their spot got took.
- 39:04SPEAKER_03: Well, at one point when my mom, when they were having the kids, I was like, How many more kids?
- 39:10SPEAKER_07: Yeah, yeah.
- 39:11SPEAKER_07: Cause that's how my older sister kind of is.
- 39:13SPEAKER_03: I was like, I'm tired of babysitting.
- 39:16SPEAKER_03: But I'm glad, like at first, I used to tell my mom, like, why do you have so many kids?
- 39:21SPEAKER_03: And then she was like, You're gonna you're gonna remember this, you know, later on.
- 39:25SPEAKER_03: And I'm now I'm glad she had a bunch of kids.
- 39:28SPEAKER_02: Yeah, we all we have a village, you know.
- 39:31SPEAKER_02: We filled up the church with the thing that is and uh secretary.
- 39:40SPEAKER_02: So that is so we know how to survive.
- 39:43SPEAKER_02: Yeah, that's one thing we know how to do.
- 39:45SPEAKER_02: We do different jobs, we'll know how to survive, yeah.
- 39:47SPEAKER_07: And y'all, and that's good.
- 39:48SPEAKER_07: You never stepping on nobody's toes.
- 39:50SPEAKER_07: Y'all, like, if we're gonna survive, or if you need a hand, I'm gonna come help you with this hand, yeah, and we're gonna thrive.
- 39:55SPEAKER_03: I'm the survivalist.
- 39:58SPEAKER_03: Make sure they stop that, yeah.
- 40:00SPEAKER_06: Okay, yeah, that's why I need a big sister like you, sister.
- 40:03SPEAKER_06: I give me your sister.
- 40:06SPEAKER_06: Put you on the big chat.
- 40:08SPEAKER_06: Please add me in the chat.
- 40:11SPEAKER_06: Okay, how do we say four?
- 40:12SPEAKER_06: Oh, no, it's already a four sister, and I'm a five.
- 40:15SPEAKER_06: How we say five in Chinese?
- 40:18SPEAKER_07: Ooh.
- 40:18SPEAKER_07: Ooh, ooh.
- 40:20SPEAKER_07: I'm ooh.
- 40:21SPEAKER_07: Okay.
- 40:23SPEAKER_01: Did I say it right?
- 40:24SPEAKER_05: Okay, because I'm gonna say it now.
- 40:26SPEAKER_01: I'm number five, okay?
- 40:28SPEAKER_01: Number five.
- 40:29SPEAKER_01: Okay, boo.
- 40:30SPEAKER_07: Oh my god.
- 40:31SPEAKER_07: And I was gonna ask this one who's the most hotheaded?
- 40:35SPEAKER_07: Like, who gets angry, angry quick?
- 40:38unknown: No.
- 40:39SPEAKER_05: Uh-huh.
- 40:39SPEAKER_05: The little one.
- 40:42SPEAKER_05: Are you so you get angry quick, girl?
- 40:44SPEAKER_05: To the crazy.
- 40:47SPEAKER_02: No, it takes a while for me to get angry.
- 40:49SPEAKER_02: Okay, I just don't take no BS, you know.
- 40:53SPEAKER_02: Like, like I'm a realist, I'm direct.
- 40:56SPEAKER_02: I'ma say what people thinking.
- 40:58SPEAKER_02: Uh-huh.
- 40:59SPEAKER_02: I'm just gonna say it.
- 41:00SPEAKER_02: Yeah, you know, but it's not in a bad way, you know.
- 41:03SPEAKER_02: They speak.
- 41:04SPEAKER_02: It's how they take it, it's how they perceive it.
- 41:06SPEAKER_02: But you need her, it's always gonna be in a good way, a loving way, or a you know, a good way.
- 41:12SPEAKER_07: Uh-huh.
- 41:13SPEAKER_02: But you know, you just don't want to mess with me.
- 41:15SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 41:15SPEAKER_07: I'm gonna say, what's your sign?
- 41:17SPEAKER_02: Sagittarius.
- 41:17SPEAKER_05: Oh, girl, you giving it uncut as a raw with the girl, you ripped the band-aid off.
- 41:22SPEAKER_05: Okay, girl, it hurts him.
- 41:24SPEAKER_05: It still hurt, girl.
- 41:26SPEAKER_05: Right, right.
- 41:26SPEAKER_05: Sagittarius.
- 41:27SPEAKER_07: It was yours, yeah, tourists, Sagittarius, and I know my very girl.
- 41:32SPEAKER_02: Okay, but you know, like you need a friend like me.
- 41:35SPEAKER_02: Yeah, because I'm not a yes friend, yeah.
- 41:38SPEAKER_02: No friend.
- 41:39SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 41:40SPEAKER_02: If you're wrong, you're wrong.
- 41:41SPEAKER_02: And and if I'm wrong, I'm wrong.
- 41:43SPEAKER_03: You know, like she might ride or die six.
- 41:46SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 41:46SPEAKER_03: Oh, yeah.
- 41:47SPEAKER_02: We fight.
- 41:47SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 41:48SPEAKER_02: I'm fighting for this.
- 41:49SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 41:49SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 41:50SPEAKER_02: That's why I stand in the back of the salon for her.
- 41:53SPEAKER_02: I can see her back.
- 41:54SPEAKER_07: Okay, we got Shig Knight in the building.
- 41:57SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 41:58SPEAKER_02: I don't want that Shake Knight body.
- 42:04SPEAKER_01: She washes the front on the other side.
- 42:06SPEAKER_07: You got the back and you got the middle.
- 42:07SPEAKER_07: So you can come into this line around the too.
- 42:10SPEAKER_02: Yeah, but no, you're not, you know, I can turn around too.
- 42:13SPEAKER_02: You get one sister, you get us all.
- 42:15SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 42:15SPEAKER_02: Period.
- 42:16SPEAKER_02: We come in and herd.
- 42:17SPEAKER_02: We come, yeah, just like a herd.
- 42:19SPEAKER_02: Okay, girl, that's what I'm talking about.
- 42:20SPEAKER_02: We move like a herd.
- 42:23SPEAKER_07: I was about to say you better get out your way.
- 42:25SPEAKER_07: Shoot.
- 42:26SPEAKER_07: So which one cried the most?
- 42:27SPEAKER_07: I don't know.
- 42:28SPEAKER_03: She, uh, both of them.
- 42:30SPEAKER_03: I did when I was a young girl.
- 42:31SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 42:32SPEAKER_04: When I was younger.
- 42:32SPEAKER_04: You see, I was just crying.
- 42:34SPEAKER_04: I know I was like a medium school.
- 42:36SPEAKER_04: When I was younger, I used to cry at the drop of a hat.
- 42:38SPEAKER_04: I was just crying.
- 42:39SPEAKER_04: And I just sit older.
- 42:41SPEAKER_04: I don't think I cry as much.
- 42:42SPEAKER_04: Like I developed a little tougher instead.
- 42:44SPEAKER_04: You just feel passionate.
- 42:46SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 42:46SPEAKER_04: I like to tell people I'm just passionate.
- 42:49SPEAKER_02: She's just hard.
- 42:50SPEAKER_02: I know.
- 42:50SPEAKER_04: But she's softy inside.
- 42:53SPEAKER_02: She's like a boiled egg, you know.
- 42:55SPEAKER_02: Hard shell on the house.
- 42:57SPEAKER_06: Yummy and salty.
- 42:58SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 42:58SPEAKER_06: And real yummy and inside a little salt and peppery little.
- 43:02SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 43:04SPEAKER_05: Little devil neck.
- 43:06SPEAKER_05: Girl.
- 43:07SPEAKER_07: Girl, devil neck.
- 43:08SPEAKER_07: She's gonna do a devil egg.
- 43:10SPEAKER_07: That is so funny.
- 43:12SPEAKER_06: See, I like to get a little electronic with the crying as I'm setting the side and then I laugh a little later.
- 43:17SPEAKER_06: You know what I'm saying?
- 43:20SPEAKER_07: And who's most likely to be dancing in the salon?
- 43:25SPEAKER_06: Girl, you gonna shake that button that salmon?
- 43:28SPEAKER_06: That's what I'm talking about, girl.
- 43:31SPEAKER_02: You're gonna get the party started.
- 43:32SPEAKER_04: She's the party starter.
- 43:34SPEAKER_02: I will, I will, I'll do whatever it takes, you know.
- 43:37SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 43:37SPEAKER_02: I just want to have fun and just like, you know, not be so cheap.
- 43:41SPEAKER_03: I use the serious thing.
- 43:43SPEAKER_03: We're not doing sophisticated sis.
- 43:45SPEAKER_03: And you right in the middle.
- 43:46SPEAKER_03: You got the balance.
- 43:47SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 43:48SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 43:48SPEAKER_03: So serious.
- 43:53SPEAKER_04: No, you need me.
- 43:55SPEAKER_04: We need that.
- 43:56SPEAKER_07: We need that sad, okay?
- 43:57SPEAKER_04: We just need to talk to any stranger, she can tell you.
- 44:00SPEAKER_02: To a bee, very friendly, you know, but don't get it twisted.
- 44:04SPEAKER_02: I got that discernment.
- 44:06SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 44:06SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 44:07SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 44:07SPEAKER_07: Not mess with you.
- 44:08SPEAKER_07: Period.
- 44:09SPEAKER_07: Oh, yeah.
- 44:10SPEAKER_02: I know if you're playing.
- 44:11SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 44:11SPEAKER_07: All right.
- 44:13SPEAKER_07: And I okay.
- 44:14SPEAKER_07: Who's the one who likes snacking on snacks?
- 44:18unknown: Oh.
- 44:20SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 44:22SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 44:22SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 44:24SPEAKER_03: Sweet.
- 44:24SPEAKER_03: I thought you were not lemonade.
- 44:27SPEAKER_02: This one bought that.
- 44:28SPEAKER_02: She bought some walnuts that was flavored.
- 44:31SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 44:32SPEAKER_01: Got a whole lemon.
- 44:35SPEAKER_01: She all she's a T Mu.
- 44:37SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 44:38SPEAKER_03: I'm going to get that off the T Mu.
- 44:39SPEAKER_03: I know, but you're a Timu.
- 44:41SPEAKER_03: You a T Mu perd.
- 44:42SPEAKER_03: You always ordering her.
- 44:44SPEAKER_03: You go order.
- 44:45SPEAKER_04: She has boxes and bags coming to the salon.
- 44:48SPEAKER_07: But that is so good though.
- 44:49SPEAKER_07: Look at the dynamic, though.
- 44:50SPEAKER_07: You got the dancer, the crazy, you got the snacker.
- 44:53SPEAKER_07: You know, you got the one, the boss, but I cry a little bit, but I knock you out a little bit.
- 44:58SPEAKER_06: You know, it's a little diversity.
- 45:00SPEAKER_06: Diversity.
- 45:00SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 45:01SPEAKER_07: I love that.
- 45:02SPEAKER_07: That's the good thing.
- 45:03SPEAKER_07: That's what keep y'all clients coming back.
- 45:06SPEAKER_07: Exactly.
- 45:06SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 45:07SPEAKER_07: I love it.
- 45:08SPEAKER_07: Okay.
- 45:10SPEAKER_09: Okay.
- 45:12SPEAKER_07: Who's the one that takes the longest to get ready?
- 45:19SPEAKER_09: Today.
- 45:20SPEAKER_01: Oh my gosh.
- 45:22SPEAKER_09: We left her.
- 45:25SPEAKER_04: Because I knew I had time.
- 45:28SPEAKER_04: Like I said.
- 45:29SPEAKER_02: She always thinks she got time.
- 45:31SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 45:32SPEAKER_02: And I did.
- 45:33SPEAKER_02: And she did.
- 45:33SPEAKER_02: Y'all was here on time.
- 45:35SPEAKER_07: Y'all beat me.
- 45:36SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 45:36SPEAKER_02: See?
- 45:37SPEAKER_02: That's because we had the navigation.
- 45:39SPEAKER_02: Okay, well, she wanted to stop us.
- 45:42SPEAKER_02: We did.
- 45:42SPEAKER_02: We didn't stop us because we had time.
- 45:45SPEAKER_02: And then we got something to drink too.
- 45:47SPEAKER_02: Can we put the navigation on to see how much time we got to do?
- 45:49SPEAKER_02: I started that this morning.
- 45:51SPEAKER_04: So I know how much time I have.
- 45:52SPEAKER_02: There we go.
- 45:53SPEAKER_07: See, so if you plan, if you stay ready, you never have to get ready.
- 45:59SPEAKER_07: Okay.
- 45:59SPEAKER_07: Don't play with that Virgo because girl, we be having stuff organized and ready.
- 46:03SPEAKER_07: And if you mess it up, girl, that's when you're gonna see a whole nother problem, okay?
- 46:07SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 46:08SPEAKER_02: I love it, and I'm just um, you know, just going with the flow.
- 46:12SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 46:13SPEAKER_02: You know, whatever happens today happens in the morning.
- 46:17SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 46:17SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 46:17SPEAKER_02: We know.
- 46:18SPEAKER_02: Impulsive.
- 46:19unknown: Yeah.
- 46:20SPEAKER_07: And when you guys are in the salon, is there any stories that anybody have ever came to you guys and you like can relate to it or you let them know that because you know how some people come and they get their hair done?
- 46:32SPEAKER_07: So that's what I'm trying to say.
- 46:33SPEAKER_07: When they are in the shop and they are telling you their stories, how are you guys able to like resonate with them or make them feel better leaving the shop?
- 46:43SPEAKER_07: Because I'm pretty sure some people have probably came and unloaded on you guys maybe first.
- 46:48SPEAKER_07: Like, have you ever resonated with them?
- 46:50SPEAKER_03: Losing someone is one of the main help with that because we've been through it.
- 46:57SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 46:58SPEAKER_07: And when you're doing the hair, if they start crying, we have straight boxes.
- 47:02SPEAKER_02: You know, we console them.
- 47:04SPEAKER_02: Um, that's all about our career.
- 47:07SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 47:08SPEAKER_02: Job is consoling.
- 47:09SPEAKER_02: That's why what sets us apart, we just don't do hair for the money.
- 47:14SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 47:14SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 47:15SPEAKER_02: It's actually our passion for real.
- 47:17SPEAKER_02: And it's a ministry for us, you know.
- 47:20SPEAKER_02: So we're not just doing it to be doing it.
- 47:23SPEAKER_02: We we co we show up every day, no matter what we're going through to help people everywhere.
- 47:31SPEAKER_02: Because they take our career as a joke.
- 47:34SPEAKER_02: Like honestly, they think we stand it, you gotta think, we stand in 12 to 16 hours.
- 47:39SPEAKER_02: We're dealing with six to seven different personalities.
- 47:43SPEAKER_02: Um each one different, you know, they can have an issue.
- 47:47SPEAKER_02: Um, and we are still showing up for them.
- 47:52SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 47:52SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 47:53SPEAKER_02: You know?
- 47:54SPEAKER_02: That's a hard task to do.
- 47:56SPEAKER_02: It is.
- 47:57SPEAKER_02: Mentally.
- 47:58SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 47:58SPEAKER_08: Mentally.
- 47:59SPEAKER_02: And make their hair look nice.
- 48:00SPEAKER_02: And get them out in a timely manner.
- 48:02SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 48:02SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 48:03SPEAKER_02: If they have somewhere to go, you know, and just making them feel beautiful inside and out.
- 48:07SPEAKER_02: And you're not going to be able to please everybody.
- 48:08SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 48:09SPEAKER_07: Have y'all ever dealt with anybody?
- 48:10SPEAKER_02: Oh, of course, of course, of course.
- 48:12SPEAKER_02: We deal with that.
- 48:13SPEAKER_02: But you know what?
- 48:15SPEAKER_02: I don't let everybody sit in my chair, honestly.
- 48:18SPEAKER_02: So you guys can refuse people.
- 48:20SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 48:21SPEAKER_02: You have.
- 48:21SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 48:23SPEAKER_02: We fire people, we refuse people.
- 48:25SPEAKER_04: It's about our peace.
- 48:26SPEAKER_04: At this point, if you're going to disturb my peace, I'm not going to do your hair.
- 48:30SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 48:30SPEAKER_04: Because you can't put push that on me because you're not sure about what you want done to your hair, or you don't like this, or you like that.
- 48:37SPEAKER_04: Like, this is what you told me.
- 48:39SPEAKER_04: This is what I executed.
- 48:40SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 48:41SPEAKER_04: Now, if you're unsure of the look that you're going for, that's really not my problem.
- 48:45SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 48:46SPEAKER_07: Have you guys ever had a conversation like once the person leaves, like, this person never again?
- 48:51SPEAKER_07: Or, oh my God, this person again.
- 48:54SPEAKER_02: You know, like I mean, we're human.
- 48:56SPEAKER_02: We go through things.
- 48:57SPEAKER_02: We can't please everybody.
- 48:59SPEAKER_02: We understand that.
- 49:00SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 49:00SPEAKER_02: And then with your ancestors.
- 49:02SPEAKER_07: Yeah, sometimes we have discussion after work.
- 49:04SPEAKER_07: That's what I'm talking about.
- 49:05SPEAKER_01: Yes, yes, yes.
- 49:05SPEAKER_02: We unload on each other.
- 49:07SPEAKER_04: Yeah, that's what I said.
- 49:08SPEAKER_04: But we do communicate with that with the clients.
- 49:11SPEAKER_04: We ask them, like, if you're unsatisfied about something, please let us know.
- 49:14SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 49:14SPEAKER_04: Because there's no point in you like leaving the salon and we can't read your mind.
- 49:18SPEAKER_04: Like, if you're unhappy, you can let us know.
- 49:20SPEAKER_04: We will gladly fix it.
- 49:22SPEAKER_04: You know, and if we can't, there's just no other resolution.
- 49:25SPEAKER_04: You can either go to another stylist in the salon.
- 49:27SPEAKER_04: We rather you keep the basic moves in the salon instead of going somewhere else.
- 49:31SPEAKER_04: For sure.
- 49:32SPEAKER_04: So you got yeah, that's so you have other stylists in the salon.
- 49:34SPEAKER_04: Like 15 other people that work in the salon.
- 49:36SPEAKER_07: So and that's good that you'll pass somebody over to the next person.
- 49:40SPEAKER_02: We're just not the stylist for you.
- 49:42SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 49:43SPEAKER_02: And that's okay.
- 49:45SPEAKER_02: You know?
- 49:45SPEAKER_02: We're still gonna love you the same.
- 49:47SPEAKER_02: We're still gonna, you know, treat you the same.
- 49:50SPEAKER_02: We're not gonna treat you no different because we just it's not the right relationship.
- 49:56SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 49:57SPEAKER_07: Yeah, because then y'all are stronger than me.
- 49:58SPEAKER_07: I'll be like, get your alopecia ass out here.
- 50:02unknown: Sorry, y'all.
- 50:06SPEAKER_07: You know, because some people do, you know, when like you say, when y'all taking y'all business serious in your craft, you might have that one little devil egg that Yeah, you know, like I would you know, it's good.
- 50:19SPEAKER_07: But yeah, but you guys are able to support each other and keep each other going.
- 50:23SPEAKER_02: But then also you don't know what people go through on a daily basis when they come in.
- 50:27SPEAKER_02: They don't know what we're going through that day, you know?
- 50:29SPEAKER_02: We have we have a life.
- 50:31SPEAKER_02: We're we're human, we have a job, we have families, you know.
- 50:35SPEAKER_02: We we don't just come there just to do their hair and be on a time all the time, you know.
- 50:41SPEAKER_02: We deal with a lot of things.
- 50:42SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 50:43SPEAKER_02: On top of that, right now we're dealing with a lot of grief.
- 50:46SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 50:47SPEAKER_02: Yet we still can come and give you a satisfied hairstyle or help you in your situation.
- 50:54SPEAKER_02: And I just listen, this is a camera time right now.
- 50:58SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 50:58SPEAKER_02: I would like to tell, you know, people, our clients, just give us a little grace as hairstylists.
- 51:07SPEAKER_02: Be a little empathetic, you know, because we deal with things also.
- 51:12SPEAKER_02: Like it's not just you coming into the salon sitting into uh in our chair and dealing with things.
- 51:19SPEAKER_02: We have things that we deal with on the outside, you know?
- 51:23SPEAKER_08: So you're still showing up.
- 51:25SPEAKER_02: Yeah, so have a little, you know, grace for us.
- 51:28SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 51:28SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 51:29SPEAKER_04: You know, to like 50 messages.
- 51:33SPEAKER_04: Like we're our our hands are constantly in someone's head, but then we have other like 50 people texting us at the same time.
- 51:39SPEAKER_04: When you're you have to like give us some time to and when you're an entrepreneur, they don't understand.
- 51:44SPEAKER_02: When you're an entrepreneur, you're everything.
- 51:46SPEAKER_02: Yes, you're the secretary, you're the treasurer.
- 51:49SPEAKER_02: Yeah, uh, you know, we're we're all of it.
- 51:51SPEAKER_02: You're the therapist.
- 51:52SPEAKER_02: Yes, it's so bad.
- 51:54SPEAKER_02: You gotta take it up.
- 51:55SPEAKER_02: Like, come on, keep going.
- 51:57SPEAKER_02: Yeah, don't give up.
- 51:59SPEAKER_02: And they don't understand that.
- 52:00SPEAKER_02: We have to invest in our own.
- 52:01SPEAKER_02: Yes, it looks like we're making a lot of money.
- 52:03SPEAKER_02: We are, but we still gotta put it right back in into our business.
- 52:07SPEAKER_02: That's what I heard.
- 52:08SPEAKER_07: You gotta give it, yes, you have to give to go.
- 52:10SPEAKER_02: Yeah, so we have a lot, and that's why everyone's not made to be an entrepreneur.
- 52:14SPEAKER_02: Yeah, they don't have that market.
- 52:16SPEAKER_02: I heard that before, and that's okay because the world runs around every people, entrepreneurs, you know, people nine to five.
- 52:23SPEAKER_02: Like we wouldn't be working together if everybody was entrepreneur, no.
- 52:28SPEAKER_07: Exactly.
- 52:29SPEAKER_07: That's why we ain't your working ass and we need them people at McDonald's.
- 52:35SPEAKER_07: Yeah, yes, yes.
- 52:36SPEAKER_07: Nobody that wanna fight us, though.
- 52:38SPEAKER_07: Just give us the burger.
- 52:41SPEAKER_07: Because nowadays people be fighting as much.
- 52:43SPEAKER_02: Exactly.
- 52:44SPEAKER_02: Yeah, right.
- 52:45SPEAKER_07: And I was gonna say, how important is it for you guys to support each other when tragedy hit?
- 52:52SPEAKER_07: Like for anybody that's dealing with tragedy, how important is it for your family to support you?
- 52:57SPEAKER_02: Oh, that is so important.
- 53:01SPEAKER_02: Like you can fall easily when you don't have that privilege of positive people, not toxic.
- 53:11SPEAKER_02: You can't have toxic people around you.
- 53:14SPEAKER_02: You have to separate yourself from that.
- 53:16SPEAKER_07: And it's toxic family members too, huh?
- 53:18SPEAKER_02: Yes, yes.
- 53:19SPEAKER_02: Um, unfortunately, I'm glad that I don't have to deal with the toxic family members.
- 53:24SPEAKER_09: That's great.
- 53:25SPEAKER_02: Um that I have a positive family.
- 53:29SPEAKER_02: Um, they are loving.
- 53:31SPEAKER_02: They will do anything for me, they'll go to the ends of the earth for me, you know.
- 53:36SPEAKER_02: Um, whatever I need.
- 53:38SPEAKER_02: Like, I'm so grateful for my sisters.
- 53:41SPEAKER_02: I would not with God and my sisters, I would not, I don't think I would be here, honestly.
- 53:47SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 53:48SPEAKER_02: I might be in that mental facility you was talking about earlier.
- 53:51unknown: Yeah.
- 53:52SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 53:53SPEAKER_04: That day.
- 53:54SPEAKER_04: And we wouldn't like we couldn't live without her either, because she's our encouragement.
- 53:58SPEAKER_04: Like sometimes when I get down or like about the business or whatever.
- 54:03SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah.
