- 0:05Speaker 1: Hey, this is Annie and Samantha home stuff. I never
- 0:07Speaker 1: told you production of ByHeart Radio.
- 0:18Speaker 2: Oh, and we're doing it and we're back. First of all,
- 0:23Speaker 2: this is a happy hour episode, So if you're doing
- 0:25Speaker 2: anything happy hour ish, please do so responsibly. Annie, are
- 0:29Speaker 2: you doing happy hour ish things? Would you do it?
- 0:32Speaker 3: Yes?
- 0:33Speaker 1: I have a rose today. I wanted to do anything
- 0:37Speaker 1: like fancy because we're coming back to a long running series.
- 0:45Speaker 1: It's too cold to do anything like I was going
- 0:48Speaker 1: to do, like a cold drink.
- 0:49Speaker 2: So actually and I am drinking a dr pepper cream
- 0:57Speaker 2: soda zero your favorite. Not a sponsor, not a sponsor.
- 1:02Speaker 2: That's the other part is we don't have any sponsors
- 1:03Speaker 2: at this point that we are going to mention. That
- 1:05Speaker 2: could change later, but right now these are not sponsors.
- 1:08Speaker 2: But yes, we are back for the long awaited I
- 1:12Speaker 2: don't care. I'm all might have forgotten now that way
- 1:14Speaker 2: you've been doing this, the watching yes of Sex and
- 1:19Speaker 2: the City. It's been a full year, and he counted it.
- 1:22Speaker 2: It's been a full year.
- 1:24Speaker 1: It's been a year. And it's wild to me because
- 1:26Speaker 1: I knew it had been a long time, but I
- 1:28Speaker 1: didn't think it had been that long me.
- 1:30Speaker 2: Either, Me either, and we had fabulous a friend of
- 1:33Speaker 2: the show come on and talk about her expertise. Hello,
- 1:38Speaker 2: like she knew all the things and was ready to
- 1:39Speaker 2: go with all the Sex of the City trivia Jasmine,
- 1:42Speaker 2: we didn't need to have her back on. But yes,
- 1:43Speaker 2: it's been a full year, and weirdly, y'all, I just
- 1:48Speaker 2: realized what episode we're on, because again it's been a
- 1:51Speaker 2: full year, and it's a little timely, kind of in
- 1:57Speaker 2: the worst way. This like is one of those moments
- 1:58Speaker 2: of like, yeah, this did not age well at all.
- 2:03Speaker 3: Oh yeah, well that's fun.
- 2:06Speaker 2: This is fun. So we're gonna go ahead and give
- 2:08Speaker 2: you a content warning of or probably mention it sexual
- 2:12Speaker 2: assault and exploitation, of course, is adult themed. We are
- 2:16Speaker 2: not edited. Christinas a magic maker with everything she adds
- 2:20Speaker 2: to this, so FYI this might not be an episode
- 2:23Speaker 2: you want to listen to with kids around. If you
- 2:26Speaker 2: know anything about Sex and the City, you kind of
- 2:28Speaker 2: already know this because this is not your syndicated edited version.
- 2:32Speaker 1: Just why yes, And also, it's been such a long
- 2:36Speaker 1: time since we've done this. Just a reminder, the premise
- 2:40Speaker 1: of this whole thing is Samantha has seen all of
- 2:43Speaker 1: these I have not. This is my first time. So
- 2:48Speaker 1: we watch it together and then we talk through it
- 2:52Speaker 1: and then have a discussion at the end.
- 2:53Speaker 2: Yes, yes, so with that, yes, we are doing a
- 2:57Speaker 2: watch of Sex and the City. Typically we love bringing
- 3:00Speaker 2: on guests and we will throughout to join us in
- 3:03Speaker 2: this conversation. What we do is a we get a
- 3:08Speaker 2: synopsis of what has been happening from Annie, We get
- 3:12Speaker 2: a prediction of what she thinks is going to happen,
- 3:15Speaker 2: and then we have a discussion and I give her
- 3:17Speaker 2: a grade that is based on nothing but my opinion.
- 3:22Speaker 1: I should get a chart. I should just be like
- 3:23Speaker 1: today she gave me a C. Mitis today star anyway?
- 3:29Speaker 2: So with that, yes, we are doing our watch of
- 3:32Speaker 2: Sex and the City. We love this because we feel
- 3:35Speaker 2: like it reaches to different audiences. I will say once again,
- 3:37Speaker 2: this is one of those episodes that did not age well.
- 3:40Speaker 2: And I think I knew that beforehand, but I forgot
- 3:42Speaker 2: about it because we did not have Jasmine on this
- 3:44Speaker 2: episode for that reason. Oh okay, okay, So Annie, had
- 3:49Speaker 2: you had a minute to prepare, do you remember what
- 3:52Speaker 2: has been happening thus far? Because I need a reminder
- 3:55Speaker 2: as well. In Sex and the City.
- 3:57Speaker 1: All right, I'm going to be completely honest with you listeners.
- 4:00Speaker 1: I normally don't look anything up for these that's kind
- 4:03Speaker 1: of the charm.
- 4:04Speaker 3: I did have to go.
- 4:05Speaker 1: I had to go and look up what happened in
- 4:07Speaker 1: the last episode or just like a general I didn't
- 4:11Speaker 1: just a general summary. And so at this point, from
- 4:16Speaker 1: what I remember and this summary brought back to me,
- 4:20Speaker 1: is all right. So we with this season, We've been
- 4:25Speaker 1: dealing with Carrie, who is now with Aiden, but cheating
- 4:30Speaker 1: on him with Big, her ex, and they kind of
- 4:37Speaker 1: reached this point where Carrie told him like, hey, sorry,
- 4:41Speaker 1: I'm cheating on you when he dumped her broke up
- 4:44Speaker 1: with her. And while all this is happening, we've got Charlotte,
- 4:50Speaker 1: who has been as you know, she's the one that
- 4:53Speaker 1: really wants to like settle down, husband, kids, life, and
- 4:59Speaker 1: she's met Trey and they got married, but I guess
- 5:02Speaker 1: he's impotent. So Charlotte thinks something is wrong with her.
- 5:09Speaker 1: She's not sure where that is, but they got married.
- 5:13Speaker 1: Miranda is still kind of I feel like she's gone
- 5:18Speaker 1: past Steve at this point. And if you watch this show,
- 5:21Speaker 1: you know Steve is kind of a person who comes
- 5:25Speaker 1: back in and out of her life a lot, and
- 5:27Speaker 1: she she's trying to find she was trying to find
- 5:29Speaker 1: like a date to the wedding.
- 5:30Speaker 3: And that was the whole thing.
- 5:32Speaker 1: As I always say, Samantha's doing whatever Samantha things.
- 5:36Speaker 3: I feel like she was is Sarah dildo model.
- 5:42Speaker 2: Yes there is a model. Very good.
- 5:46Speaker 1: Yes, my brain holds on to something or something questionable
- 5:50Speaker 1: in some ways.
- 5:52Speaker 3: But yeah, so she's doing her Samantha things.
- 5:55Speaker 1: But anyway, after aiden uh broke up with Carrie, the
- 6:03Speaker 1: group goes to LA because Carrie has gotten an offer
- 6:07Speaker 1: to make a movie, a movie or a production of
- 6:11Speaker 1: some kind about her column. And that's where we get
- 6:15Speaker 1: a bunch of celebrity cameos, including Matthew McConaughey. But that
- 6:21Speaker 1: was where we left office. They are in LA and
- 6:24Speaker 1: they kind of feel out of place in LA. I
- 6:26Speaker 1: feel like that was the vibes they weren't sure. It
- 6:31Speaker 1: was just a different city. It's different than they're used to.
- 6:33Speaker 2: Yes, yes, yes, very good. Yes, you did a great job.
- 6:38Speaker 2: You did remind me of the dildo model, Like, oh yeah,
- 6:41Speaker 2: who also loves poetry.
- 6:44Speaker 1: I'm glad to hear that because I was like I
- 6:46Speaker 1: don't know if I'm making that up.
- 6:47Speaker 3: That wasn't in the SUMMARYE.
- 6:48Speaker 2: You got it, you got it, you understood the assignment.
- 6:52Speaker 2: I am proud of you, and we are going to
- 6:55Speaker 2: jump in. So with that, let us talk about the
- 6:59Speaker 2: time of this episode, which is again season three, episode fourteen,
- 7:04Speaker 2: Sex and Another City. Do you have a prediction for
- 7:08Speaker 2: this episode?
- 7:10Speaker 1: Okay, well, I think it's been so long since I've
- 7:15Speaker 1: done this. I think there's going to be a club,
- 7:18Speaker 1: a club. It's club or brunch if you don't remember, Yes, yeah,
- 7:24Speaker 1: I think it's going to be a club.
- 7:25Speaker 3: But they do have a good brunch scene in LA.
- 7:28Speaker 1: But anyway, okay, I think if I'm going with the
- 7:32Speaker 1: obvious vibe of the title, then it's once again this
- 7:38Speaker 1: idea that it feels very different in LA and not
- 7:41Speaker 1: understanding the rules and Sex and Another City, what was
- 7:48Speaker 1: it like?
- 7:49Speaker 3: I don't know. Look, I'm rusty. I have to get
- 7:55Speaker 3: back into this.
- 7:57Speaker 2: You know what. I appreciate it, and I think you
- 8:00Speaker 2: for that, you have.
- 8:01Speaker 1: Given me a lot of content warnings that I'm like, now.
- 8:08Speaker 2: Okay, okay, well we will jump in and see where
- 8:12Speaker 2: we're at. Are you all ready for this?
- 8:16Speaker 4: View?
- 8:17Speaker 3: Here? We go, let's do it.
- 8:35Speaker 5: L a land of perpetual sun and perpetual sunbathing, which
- 8:40Speaker 5: also makes it land of the perpetual bikini wax.
- 8:44Speaker 2: My god, have you ever had I?
- 8:50Speaker 3: Have you?
- 8:51Speaker 2: Yes? One time? I did. One time. It was itchy.
- 8:54Speaker 2: Never again, but no, not a Brazilian. I had the
- 8:58Speaker 2: trail because I was like, not anything.
- 9:02Speaker 1: There was like one person who did it in our
- 9:04Speaker 1: very small town. So if you did it, it was
- 9:05Speaker 1: kind of known that, like everybody would know that you
- 9:08Speaker 1: had done it.
- 9:09Speaker 2: You've done it.
- 9:09Speaker 3: Also, I was like, I'll just not do that way.
- 9:16Speaker 2: I'm so aware of down there now, you know.
- 9:22Speaker 5: I feel like I'm nothing but walking sex.
- 9:25Speaker 3: That's the thing about the Brazil and it makes you
- 9:27Speaker 3: do crazy things.
- 9:28Speaker 1: You have to be very careful who you invite to Brazil.
- 9:30Speaker 2: Well, I'm officially who you invite to Brazil. I don't
- 9:34Speaker 2: know the origins. It feels a little sexist, maybe racist,
- 9:37Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 9:39Speaker 1: I feel like I read up about it once and
- 9:42Speaker 1: I was like, hmmm, is it racist. I don't know
- 9:45Speaker 1: if it was that, but just the way it was framed,
- 9:47Speaker 1: I was.
- 9:48Speaker 2: Like, it does not sound like it sounds like the
- 9:50Speaker 2: woman of color type of like narrative. Yeah, any worse
- 10:01Speaker 2: take off that hat. I'm gonna shoot you right now.
- 10:05Speaker 3: Actually I really like it.
- 10:07Speaker 2: Here, hang on, what happened to the guy used to
- 10:10Speaker 2: share beers with to make fun of happy people?
- 10:12Speaker 4: I know, I know the.
- 10:13Speaker 3: Thing is, I think I'm one of those happy people.
- 10:16Speaker 1: Now.
- 10:18Speaker 2: Wow, I mean, good for you.
- 10:20Speaker 4: I know it sounds crazy, but I think I was
- 10:22Speaker 4: just supremely unhappy in New York. I mean I came
- 10:25Speaker 4: out here and I let a lot of that old
- 10:26Speaker 4: toxic anger go. I take things slowly, get outside. Ela
- 10:32Speaker 4: agrees with me.
- 10:33Speaker 5: Miranda realized she was the one standing out in that room.
- 10:36Speaker 5: She was the only angry New Yorker for Miles.
- 10:39Speaker 2: Hey, this is that narrative, the New York versus LA.
- 10:43Speaker 1: Yeah, I wonder how people from LA felt about this.
- 10:48Speaker 2: Oh, they had attitude.
- 10:50Speaker 3: It's fair.
- 10:51Speaker 2: I mean it's like whole like winter versus summer, all
- 10:54Speaker 2: the time, daylight versus like the attitude.
- 10:58Speaker 1: Yeah, but you know, you got one place as the
- 11:02Speaker 1: public transportation.
- 11:05Speaker 3: Its pros and cons.
- 11:07Speaker 2: Pros and cons all the things.
- 11:16Speaker 3: But you tell her that when she's ready to deal,
- 11:18Speaker 3: she can go ahead and call me yourself.
- 11:19Speaker 1: Okay, I'm gonta function.
- 11:20Speaker 2: Here, Vince ing Vaughan. I'm trying to remember. Was she
- 11:29Speaker 2: and Vince Vaughn in a movie together?
- 11:31Speaker 3: I think they were, but okay, I'm not sure I remember.
- 11:35Speaker 2: Yeah, I know how and Matthew McConaughey were m M.
- 11:39Speaker 2: Failure to Launch, Failure to Launch.
- 11:41Speaker 5: Yes, Yes, Samantha had worshiped you Hessner ever since she
- 11:51Speaker 5: was old enough to steal her father's playboy to her.
- 11:54Speaker 5: This wasn't a celebrity sun, this was wat This.
- 11:58Speaker 3: Is the one you've told me about? Is that you Henery? Hi,
- 12:07Speaker 3: I'm Samantha Jones. I just wanted to tell you I'm
- 12:11Speaker 3: a huge fan. I fobably in that case joined us
- 12:13Speaker 3: for a drink.
- 12:14Speaker 4: Drink pay be great?
- 12:16Speaker 5: Well, thank you.
- 12:19Speaker 2: Have you been paying attention to any of the stuff
- 12:22Speaker 2: lately about Hefner? No, so new allegations from his last
- 12:27Speaker 2: wife have come up in which she talks about he
- 12:30Speaker 2: collected photo albums of women that would come through and
- 12:35Speaker 2: then distributed them and like she was horrified and was
- 12:38Speaker 2: trying to like tell everybody about them and let them
- 12:41Speaker 2: know that they've been I think released in some spects
- 12:43Speaker 2: and like how disgusting it is, and like people were
- 12:46Speaker 2: angry and I'm like, oh, and she was just talking
- 12:48Speaker 2: about how awful he was, essentially, but it was his
- 12:51Speaker 2: wife at the time, and she said she didn't know
- 12:53Speaker 2: this was happening or something along those lines. Y'all.
- 12:59Speaker 1: Yeah, wow, yeah, you're right timing mm hmmm. He really
- 13:06Speaker 1: did get a free path for a long time.
- 13:08Speaker 2: He got the best pr like whoever was behind him. Well,
- 13:14Speaker 2: also a generation of like no social media, so he
- 13:17Speaker 2: got lucky.
- 13:18Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 13:25Speaker 5: And there in the South Americans living room, my Brazilian
- 13:29Speaker 5: made me kiss him.
- 13:33Speaker 3: Wait till you see the hot tub.
- 13:39Speaker 2: The hot Time's weird that your first date would be
- 13:43Speaker 2: looking at property. Yeah, as a person who doesn't date
- 13:47Speaker 2: much like coffee would be a good way to go.
- 13:51Speaker 6: I feel like, yeah, I agree that going from coffee
- 13:56Speaker 6: to hey, let's look at this million dollar property.
- 14:08Speaker 2: Maybe it's time I stop being so angry.
- 14:10Speaker 7: Yeah, but what would you do with all your free time?
- 14:12Speaker 1: I'll tell you what you could do?
- 14:14Speaker 2: Legitimate show Jesus, No, you did for good. She said that.
- 14:21Speaker 2: That makes me sad.
- 14:22Speaker 1: No, you didn't, she said it very seriously to you.
- 14:28Speaker 5: You never know.
- 14:28Speaker 2: It wasn't a real friendly unless you looked inside of
- 14:30Speaker 2: the lining.
- 14:31Speaker 5: Yeah, I don't have that luxury. All my insides are
- 14:33Speaker 5: on the outside.
- 14:33Speaker 2: Now, I don't like fake. Who cares.
- 14:36Speaker 1: All that matters is what it looks like. It's pretty good.
- 14:38Speaker 3: It's pretty good. We could go.
- 14:39Speaker 1: So they're saying LA is fake. Everybody in LA is fake.
- 14:42Speaker 1: That's what they're saying. We drove for two hours in
- 14:53Speaker 1: the valley.
- 14:57Speaker 2: Going back to the hotel.
- 15:00Speaker 5: I just looked so sad.
- 15:03Speaker 2: Have you ever done an adventure like that? Or you
- 15:04Speaker 2: thought something was somewhere and then you try to travel
- 15:07Speaker 2: to that and you're like, oh, oh, we're not we
- 15:09Speaker 2: are not in the right place.
- 15:11Speaker 1: Oh yes, oh yes, And it's a very bad feeling
- 15:17Speaker 1: because you're looking around and it feels like everybody else knows.
- 15:20Speaker 3: You're not right.
- 15:25Speaker 5: I'm Later that night, I was a guest at Keith's
- 15:31Speaker 5: amazing house. He made sizzling scallops, and after dinner things
- 15:35Speaker 5: got even hotter.
- 15:36Speaker 3: I like hot tubs.
- 15:38Speaker 5: New York should have more hot tubs, like on roofs
- 15:40Speaker 5: and stuff like you're like that.
- 15:47Speaker 3: Man, they move quickly. That's the Every time I watch
- 15:49Speaker 3: the show, I'm like, Wow.
- 15:50Speaker 2: You gotta get it. Hint within the thirty minutes.
- 15:54Speaker 3: That's true. I'm sorry.
- 15:58Speaker 2: We all know that's not good for you, right, we've
- 16:00Speaker 2: all learned that the hot tub sex.
- 16:09Speaker 5: Waking up in Keith's sun filled bedroom, I was starting
- 16:12Speaker 5: to feel like three point four million myself.
- 16:14Speaker 3: I really like what you have going on down there.
- 16:17Speaker 3: That would be a whole lot of nothing.
- 16:19Speaker 2: Yeah, oh fun thing.
- 16:21Speaker 3: No worries me when you see this, think to eleven.
- 16:25Speaker 1: Nice life.
- 16:30Speaker 2: The do you think you're doing?
- 16:33Speaker 7: I told you no, you're a house sitters.
- 16:41Speaker 3: Wow, what a twist.
- 16:45Speaker 5: Apparently the life I was coveting wasn't Keith's. It was
- 16:49Speaker 5: Carrie Fisher's.
- 16:49Speaker 7: You are so fired, Wait till I tell Penny?
- 16:52Speaker 2: Does this mean that I'm gonna have to return your car?
- 16:54Speaker 7: And Penny Marshals, I'm just I'm gonna you might need
- 16:59Speaker 7: the thank you? Are you going to bring prostitutes to
- 17:04Speaker 7: Ben's new three million.
- 17:05Speaker 5: Dollar hole and Ben afflex? You know I'm not a prostitute.
- 17:09Speaker 5: I'm Carrie Bradshaw, right, carriage a column. I'm carried your Carrie.
- 17:18Speaker 5: I right, you're right, I am Apparently one nine from
- 17:28Speaker 5: half and the pool party was over.
- 17:31Speaker 3: I'm not leaving without my friends.
- 17:33Speaker 1: I'm so sorry.
- 17:36Speaker 5: The fake Fendy ended up costing one hundred and fifty
- 17:39Speaker 5: for the bag, two thousand and stolen credit card charges,
- 17:43Speaker 5: and unspecified costs to Samantha's ego and across the compound,
- 17:49Speaker 5: Miranda and I took a wrong turn on the way
- 17:52Speaker 5: to the buffet.
- 17:53Speaker 2: To be fair, they probably were saved for being kicked
- 17:56Speaker 2: out because we know it gets real bad, real bad.
- 18:00Speaker 2: As we've talked about in past episodes.
- 18:04Speaker 5: It's time to go home.
- 18:06Speaker 7: Oh, there you are.
- 18:08Speaker 2: We have to leave.
- 18:09Speaker 7: We are right now.
- 18:12Speaker 3: It's nice to have a group of friends. It's just like,
- 18:14Speaker 3: all right, we gotta go. Let's do it.
- 18:35Speaker 2: Well, there you go.
- 18:39Speaker 6: Anny, come on, I feel like I did a pretty
- 18:46Speaker 6: good job.
- 18:48Speaker 2: I'll give you a C.
- 18:49Speaker 1: I'm gonna give you a C C plus all.
- 18:52Speaker 2: Right, bye, I'll give you the C plus on this one.
- 18:55Speaker 2: But yeah, so I was right. This was the episode
- 18:58Speaker 2: with Hugh Hefner in his glory of being idolized by everyone,
- 19:02Speaker 2: including women, with the brand really blowing up. You saw
- 19:07Speaker 2: it everywhere. People were wearing the T shirts, wearing that
- 19:09Speaker 2: kind of necklace with the bunny again, like you were saying,
- 19:13Speaker 2: like we were saying, previously he got an easy out
- 19:17Speaker 2: before his death, like he saw, well, you know what,
- 19:22Speaker 2: today he still may be celebrated because look at where
- 19:24Speaker 2: we're at with a lot of sex criminals, alleged sex
- 19:28Speaker 2: criminals that are in charge of things, and it's really
- 19:32Speaker 2: appalling and disheartening to see. But like, yes, this was
- 19:38Speaker 2: one of those episodes they celebrated him being on this show.
- 19:41Speaker 2: And I'm sure I'm sure looking back on it, like
- 19:44Speaker 2: some of the producers, even you know, Sarahjisca Parker and
- 19:49Speaker 2: especially like Cynthia Nixon would have come back and be like, no,
- 19:54Speaker 2: we absolutely would not have done this scene where it
- 19:58Speaker 2: went today. But yeah, like this did not age well
- 20:03Speaker 2: in so many ways. But yeah, there was a lot
- 20:06Speaker 2: of la hate in this specific episode.
- 20:09Speaker 4: Two.
- 20:10Speaker 2: What did you think of this episode?
- 20:13Speaker 3: Uh, well, it was a wild ride.
- 20:16Speaker 1: I'll say that I was not anticipating Carrie Fisher to
- 20:21Speaker 1: show up.
- 20:22Speaker 2: That was Yes, I remember when Vince Vaughn talked up.
- 20:24Speaker 2: I was like, oh, this is this is that episode.
- 20:26Speaker 2: I was really happy about it. You got a good
- 20:28Speaker 2: dose of niceness and then playing herself being her like
- 20:32Speaker 2: I love it versus all of that.
- 20:34Speaker 1: Yes, very her sarcastic, what are you doing self? And
- 20:39Speaker 1: I have to say, own my own biases.
- 20:43Speaker 3: I guess. Yeah.
- 20:44Speaker 1: But when I was reading the description of what happened
- 20:48Speaker 1: in this one and then it said a housekeeper, I
- 20:53Speaker 1: thought of a woman. I didn't know it was going
- 20:55Speaker 1: to be Vince Vaughn. So they got me on that one.
- 20:58Speaker 4: Ooh.
- 21:00Speaker 2: But also I do love like he's like, oh no,
- 21:02Speaker 2: this is all mine again once again that theory of
- 21:05Speaker 2: like everything's.
- 21:05Speaker 3: Fake there, everything's fake.
- 21:08Speaker 2: It's kind of fake.
- 21:09Speaker 3: So oh yeah, yeah, but I mean.
- 21:15Speaker 1: It is interesting kind of the dark differences they painted
- 21:20Speaker 1: of like New York and LA and that message of yes,
- 21:24Speaker 1: things are fake here, and you know, we have to
- 21:27Speaker 1: go back and face our.
- 21:29Speaker 3: Our realities, and our realities are in New York.
- 21:33Speaker 1: So Charlotte, Who's was kind of experimenting and flirting, realizing that,
- 21:40Speaker 1: oh wait, I do have a marriage. There are benefits
- 21:43Speaker 1: to marriage.
- 21:45Speaker 2: Being single is not great.
- 21:47Speaker 1: Being single is not you know, I immediately wanted it
- 21:50Speaker 1: after I got married, but now I realized there were
- 21:53Speaker 1: things that are not great about it.
- 21:55Speaker 2: Maybe I don't hate this so much?
- 21:57Speaker 1: Yes, And then Carrie just realizing, you know, oh, I'm
- 22:03Speaker 1: not on the guest list.
- 22:04Speaker 3: I'm on the list.
- 22:05Speaker 1: It just operates differently here. I'm kind of nobody here.
- 22:08Speaker 1: I love that she said to Carrie Fisher, Oh, I'm
- 22:11Speaker 1: Carrie Brasshaw.
- 22:15Speaker 3: She would know that is.
- 22:18Speaker 1: And then I'm Miranda realizing her friend who she thought
- 22:24Speaker 1: had found in her peace, had not in fact a
- 22:29Speaker 1: set of problems, had a very different set of problems.
- 22:34Speaker 1: That is incredibly sad to me to eat a piece
- 22:37Speaker 1: of steak and spit it out because you just want
- 22:39Speaker 1: to taste it and then not eat it. That also
- 22:42Speaker 1: says a lot about their attitude towards La and what's
- 22:44Speaker 1: going on there. But yes, and then Samantha trying to
- 22:52Speaker 1: fit in with these Huefner ladies and then kind of
- 22:55Speaker 1: embarrassing herself and being like, Nope, okay, we have to go,
- 22:59Speaker 1: we have to leave.
- 22:59Speaker 3: Now.
- 23:02Speaker 2: There's so many layers. You're like, what is happen? What
- 23:06Speaker 2: is happening? What is happening? Because you're like just watching
- 23:10Speaker 2: and going, oh, this is embarrassing.
- 23:14Speaker 1: I don't like I forgot how much they cover in
- 23:19Speaker 1: these episodes that are only thirty ish minutes. Yeah, because
- 23:23Speaker 1: I feel like a lot was covered. I'm surprised. I
- 23:28Speaker 1: guess I'm not really surprised. I'm sure they probably talked
- 23:31Speaker 1: about it more in the last episode, but I'm surprised
- 23:33Speaker 1: there wasn't more mention of kind of what they were
- 23:37Speaker 1: running from. Yeah, but I'm interested to see what happens
- 23:41Speaker 1: when they go back to New York now that they've
- 23:43Speaker 1: had this little excursion, but they still have their problems
- 23:46Speaker 1: waiting for them.
- 23:47Speaker 2: Yes, all the Yeah, all of it's still waiting and
- 23:50Speaker 2: to see how it resolves or does prediction you have production.
- 23:59Speaker 1: Wait, so we're on a episode fourteen and there's like twenty.
- 24:02Speaker 3: In this season.
- 24:04Speaker 2: That's a great question.
- 24:06Speaker 3: I think that I think there's probably twenty ish.
- 24:09Speaker 2: Yeah, so we gotta think that maybe until eighteen that
- 24:12Speaker 2: could be.
- 24:14Speaker 3: So we're heading towards the season.
- 24:16Speaker 2: For now end.
- 24:18Speaker 3: Okay, I don't know.
- 24:21Speaker 1: I feel like whatever's going on with Big, it's strange
- 24:24Speaker 1: to me because I do know ultimately what happened. Yeah,
- 24:28Speaker 1: so I'm like, when when does it come to fruition?
- 24:32Speaker 1: When does it start? But there's got to be something
- 24:35Speaker 1: with Big and Carrie for sure. I don't know when
- 24:38Speaker 1: Steve's coming back into the picture. How long does Charlotte
- 24:42Speaker 1: stay married.
- 24:43Speaker 3: To tre not long. I don't think very long at all.
- 24:50Speaker 3: We'll see, yeah, because she's got that other guy.
- 24:55Speaker 1: Yeah, there's six seasons, so I guess there's time to
- 24:58Speaker 1: introduce the other guy. I'm trying to calculate.
- 25:02Speaker 3: I don't.
- 25:03Speaker 2: I love it.
- 25:04Speaker 3: I love it.
- 25:04Speaker 2: I love that you're trying to like be very meticulous
- 25:07Speaker 2: in your productions of a show that we have not
- 25:10Speaker 2: picked up until today after a year long stake. It
- 25:14Speaker 2: just is. But yes, I'm excited to talk more about this.
- 25:17Speaker 2: I will say once again, some of these episodes have
- 25:19Speaker 2: not aged well, and we're gonna have to like address
- 25:22Speaker 2: some of those conversations as it comes. We want to
- 25:25Speaker 2: keep addressing these conversations. I think it's important to undo
- 25:28Speaker 2: some of the things that we once thought was okay,
- 25:30Speaker 2: because I really, in my before everything went down, because
- 25:35Speaker 2: everything we saw about like hustler Hugh Hefter was seen
- 25:39Speaker 2: as a good guy in this business, and then you realize, ooh,
- 25:43Speaker 2: and this is kind of where we talk about sex
- 25:45Speaker 2: work in general, like where it becomes that gray area,
- 25:50Speaker 2: not because of anything that necessarily that the women are doing,
- 25:53Speaker 2: but what is sometimes perpetuated and what is upholding and
- 25:56Speaker 2: who's allowed to profit and are in power, Like it
- 26:00Speaker 2: did have a hold on us and it really kind
- 26:03Speaker 2: of shaped the way we thought of things and did
- 26:06Speaker 2: influence sexuality for women and being able to embrace that
- 26:10Speaker 2: sexuality in friendship too, Yes, and in the friendships.
- 26:16Speaker 3: Yes.
- 26:17Speaker 1: And also just to say, like, I think this is
- 26:20Speaker 1: a more complicated conversation, but it is interesting to me
- 26:25Speaker 1: how even now that they were so open in the
- 26:28Speaker 1: beginning talking about getting a Brazilian like that wasn't something
- 26:32Speaker 1: you would see on TV. And you can argue like
- 26:36Speaker 1: the pluses and minuses of that, but just the fact
- 26:39Speaker 1: that they were talking about it, because that is a
- 26:41Speaker 1: thing that people do and it's just not discussed and
- 26:45Speaker 1: for them to just say like, hey, so, I think
- 26:47Speaker 1: that's one of the reasons this show had such an
- 26:50Speaker 1: impact on so many people is that it had those
- 26:52Speaker 1: conversations and it didn't feel like a big deal. It
- 26:54Speaker 1: was kind of just like, yep, that's something that we
- 26:59Speaker 1: did today.
- 27:00Speaker 3: That's so.
- 27:01Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm excited we're back and we're restarting this and
- 27:07Speaker 1: we'll see where it goes.
