- 0:16Speaker 1: Welcome into jag xam on this Wednesday, Wednesday, December thirteenth,
- 0:20Speaker 1: I'm kay Nannie Stevens, Brian Sexton and John Osier are
- 0:23Speaker 1: with me today as we look ahead, the DAGs have
- 0:25Speaker 1: lost two in a row, but they're gonna try to
- 0:26Speaker 1: write the ship on Sunday Night football against the Ravens.
- 0:29Speaker 1: So big thing number one is the clock is ticking
- 0:33Speaker 1: because they do have time to turn things around, but
- 0:35Speaker 1: there are only four regular season games left if they
- 0:37Speaker 1: want to try and close things out in me as
- 0:39Speaker 1: myself and make a run in the playoffs. Don Peterson
- 0:42Speaker 1: seems to think there's plenty of time to get things
- 0:44Speaker 1: in order.
- 0:46Speaker 2: This time of year, though, is where teams begin to separate,
- 0:49Speaker 2: right and you start to get a better picture, or
- 0:52Speaker 2: a clear picture at least of the postseason. But you know,
- 0:55Speaker 2: for us, it's a matter of just continuing to just
- 0:58Speaker 2: focus on us, be us, be who we are. You know,
- 1:02Speaker 2: control the things that we can control, and you know
- 1:06Speaker 2: not you know, at least go out and not try
- 1:10Speaker 2: to lose another football game if possible.
- 1:13Speaker 1: It's just that simple, Ran, just not try to lose
- 1:15Speaker 1: another football game.
- 1:17Speaker 3: It's four weeks enough time for them to get everything
- 1:19Speaker 3: back in.
- 1:19Speaker 4: Order it is.
- 1:20Speaker 5: Last year they were four and eight KAI and instead
- 1:22Speaker 5: of four games remitting, you're obviously five. And there were
- 1:25Speaker 5: more difficult games in there, including a game against the
- 1:29Speaker 5: Cowboys and against the Titans at the end of the season.
- 1:32Speaker 5: So yes, there's plenty of time, and it could certainly
- 1:35Speaker 5: start on Sunday. You could jump start this thing with
- 1:38Speaker 5: a win over the Ravens. And I get you know,
- 1:40Speaker 5: the Ravens are ten and three and they're the number
- 1:41Speaker 5: one team in the AFC. But I don't think that
- 1:44Speaker 5: this league is so disparate that the Jaguars are so
- 1:47Speaker 5: far behind the Ravens that they can't come out and
- 1:49Speaker 5: play well and win on Sunday night. And I'll use John.
- 1:52Speaker 5: The Titans with a rookie quarterback going to Miami without
- 1:57Speaker 5: their best defensive player, and that rookie quarterback have two
- 2:01Speaker 5: touchdown drives in the final three and a half minutes
- 2:03Speaker 5: to win. So anything is possible. It could start on Sunday.
- 2:06Speaker 6: Yeah, And I don't think the difference between the Ravens
- 2:09Speaker 6: and the Jaguars is the difference between the Dolphins and
- 2:11Speaker 6: Titans this year. Look, the Jaguars are eight and five.
- 2:15Speaker 6: If they play the way they've played most of the season,
- 2:19Speaker 6: they have a very good chance to beat the Ravens.
- 2:21Speaker 6: They have played poorly the last two weeks in some
- 2:24Speaker 6: key areas, still only lost by seven points.
- 2:27Speaker 4: They're not bad. I think the bad news for.
- 2:29Speaker 6: Them this week is the Ravens are a team that
- 2:32Speaker 6: you can play well against and still not beat. It's
- 2:35Speaker 6: only a handful of those teams for the Jaguars. I
- 2:36Speaker 6: think the Ravens are one of them. But it's not
- 2:39Speaker 6: an unwinnable game. Even all that said, there's still time
- 2:43Speaker 6: because I think if you win any of the you
- 2:45Speaker 6: win three of the last four, and you beat Tennessee,
- 2:48Speaker 6: then you win the division. So there's time. But lose
- 2:51Speaker 6: this week in the margin fair maybe gone well.
- 2:53Speaker 5: Just to underline what John was saying, Kay, the Jaguars
- 2:56Speaker 5: have lost the last two games by combining seven points
- 2:58Speaker 5: one A field goal gives you a win at the
- 3:01Speaker 5: end of regulation against the Bengals. But more than that,
- 3:05Speaker 5: this is an offense. John. Without Christian Kirk, He's had
- 3:07Speaker 5: one play in the last two games, and they've scored
- 3:09Speaker 5: fifty eight points. That's as good as two game stretch
- 3:12Speaker 5: as they've had all season long. So it is it's turnovers,
- 3:15Speaker 5: it's a few key areas, the lack of a running game,
- 3:17Speaker 5: which I know we're going to talk about a few
- 3:19Speaker 5: key areas, and it's going to be on the practice
- 3:21Speaker 5: field this week that Doug Peterson and his offensive staff
- 3:23Speaker 5: are going to try to figure that one out.
- 3:25Speaker 1: The offense has been scoring a lot more points that
- 3:27Speaker 1: has not really come from the running game though. That's
- 3:29Speaker 1: our second big thing about getting creative because obviously Travessey
- 3:34Speaker 1: Tanne was doing great in the beginning of the season.
- 3:35Speaker 1: He's slowed down tremendously. Part of that the line issues
- 3:38Speaker 1: as well, But Doug Peterson says they're gonna have to
- 3:40Speaker 1: get a little bit creative to try to get their
- 3:41Speaker 1: running game going.
- 3:44Speaker 5: Just again finding those schemes that have worked in our past.
- 3:52Speaker 2: And trying to tap back into that to see if
- 3:54Speaker 2: we can't jump start the one game.
- 4:00Speaker 3: It's that simple scheme. It up a little bit differently.
- 4:02Speaker 3: Why has the run game been so deficient lately?
- 4:05Speaker 6: It's not that simple, I don't think, and it's been
- 4:08Speaker 6: that deficient because I don't think this is a very
- 4:11Speaker 6: good run blocking line this year. I think the interior
- 4:14Speaker 6: has struggled, and I hate saying that every week. It
- 4:17Speaker 6: sounds like I'm bashing those guys. I think it's it's
- 4:20Speaker 6: a decent run, it's a decent pass blocking line. But
- 4:23Speaker 6: the season has shown us so far that this group
- 4:26Speaker 6: has a tough time getting interior push. Travis gets hitting
- 4:31Speaker 6: the backfield a lot. It's not all the offensive line,
- 4:33Speaker 6: because it's never all one thing in the NFL. So
- 4:38Speaker 6: you ask me, scheme it up, I'd like to see
- 4:43Speaker 6: it before. I think they're going to get it fixed.
- 4:45Speaker 6: I hope they do, but after twelve games, I don't
- 4:48Speaker 6: know that the running game is going to be a juggernaut.
- 4:50Speaker 6: I think against the Ravens, what you have to do.
- 4:53Speaker 6: You have to find some way to get enough yards
- 4:56Speaker 6: to make them respect it and then open up other things.
- 4:59Speaker 4: I think that's hurting them as much as the lack
- 5:00Speaker 4: of production.
- 5:01Speaker 5: Well, I'm gonna lean heavily into the offensive line because
- 5:04Speaker 5: he had fourteen carries etn did kai and of those fourteen,
- 5:10Speaker 5: seven went for two yards or less, and four of
- 5:13Speaker 5: those went for negative right, meaning he lost yards with
- 5:16Speaker 5: stuff in the backup. So half his carries earned two
- 5:18Speaker 5: yards or lesson if you combine them all together. They
- 5:21Speaker 5: lost seven yards, so they're getting no push. Brandon Sheriff
- 5:24Speaker 5: is a five time Pro Bowl guard, but he's at
- 5:26Speaker 5: his best on the move out pulling. That's that's his game.
- 5:29Speaker 5: Lou Fortner has just gotten no push in the middle
- 5:32Speaker 5: of the line. And they've had four different starting guards
- 5:34Speaker 5: four is it five, and forget they've had four different
- 5:37Speaker 5: starting guards over on the left side, so the lack
- 5:39Speaker 5: of cohesion there hasn't helped Fortner at all. The middle
- 5:42Speaker 5: of the line has been a mess in terms of
- 5:44Speaker 5: short yardage. The Jaguars are at fifty percent on third
- 5:47Speaker 5: down and two or fewer yards third and two. You
- 5:50Speaker 5: should be up near eighty eighty five percent. They're nowhere
- 5:53Speaker 5: close to that. So I think the problem is the
- 5:56Speaker 5: lack of power in the middle of their offensive line.
- 5:59Speaker 5: And of course they have had a lot of different
- 6:01Speaker 5: bodies they were left guard, which hasn't helped either.
- 6:04Speaker 1: A lot of blame to go around right now, at
- 6:05Speaker 1: least in our point of view, where they need to
- 6:07Speaker 1: work on certain things. The run game certainly one of those.
- 6:10Speaker 1: The secondary has been an issue recently as well. Big
- 6:12Speaker 1: plays big problem. Our final big thing because those three
- 6:16Speaker 1: big plays really were the difference in the game against
- 6:18Speaker 1: the Browns that the secondary gave up some of that
- 6:21Speaker 1: miscommunication some of that how they're steaming with the Blitz
- 6:24Speaker 1: and dwand Smooth talked a little bit yesterday about some
- 6:27Speaker 1: of the miscommunication issues on defense.
- 6:31Speaker 7: Like I just said, it's communication. I mean, we like
- 6:33Speaker 7: we just have to be on the same page. Like
- 6:35Speaker 7: we've had some some pretty good matchups coming up, and
- 6:38Speaker 7: we've been, you know, scheming up a lot of different
- 6:40Speaker 7: things and we just got to get back to you know,
- 6:42Speaker 7: what allows us to play fast is just communicating and
- 6:45Speaker 7: all being on the same ding.
- 6:49Speaker 1: Brian, we talked a couple of weeks about this, what's
- 6:50Speaker 1: the disconnect right now? They've been playing together for quite
- 6:53Speaker 1: some time.
- 6:53Speaker 5: Now you're you're thirty games into this defense. They brought
- 6:56Speaker 5: all the starters back and the staff is the same.
- 6:59Speaker 5: I mean, communication issues, especially at home right. I know
- 7:03Speaker 5: the noise was a factor, but you want the noise
- 7:05Speaker 5: if you're on defense, it's supposed to help you communication issues,
- 7:09Speaker 5: not just by the way on one side of the bowl. Kai,
- 7:12Speaker 5: because we heard about the communication issues from the quarterback
- 7:14Speaker 5: talking about the interceptions last week in Cleveland, I scratched
- 7:18Speaker 5: my head at this because I know Tyson Campbell has
- 7:21Speaker 5: been out, but monterk Brown has played pretty well. There
- 7:24Speaker 5: have been communication issues between the linebackers and the safeties
- 7:27Speaker 5: and that has caused some problems. We saw twice last week.
- 7:30Speaker 5: John i think, the head coach, said on Monday, there
- 7:33Speaker 5: were three plays for one hundred and twenty yards that
- 7:34Speaker 5: were broken. Plays that were communication issues. We've talked about
- 7:38Speaker 5: what we think this team can do and can they
- 7:40Speaker 5: play together and get hot not if they can't communicate.
- 7:44Speaker 6: Yeah, they've given up some big plays this year. I
- 7:46Speaker 6: think until the other day it was a relatively normal amount.
- 7:51Speaker 6: The problem the other day was a couple of things.
- 7:53Speaker 6: The big plays went for touchdowns. They had three plays
- 7:56Speaker 6: over thirty yards, three touchdown passes. There were thirty yards
- 8:00Speaker 6: to giving up. They had allowed five of those all seasons.
- 8:03Speaker 6: So it was as much miscommunication, it was just mistakes.
- 8:08Speaker 6: Guys bid on play ash and guys went into the
- 8:10Speaker 6: backfield when they're supposed to be.
- 8:12Speaker 4: Covering tight ends.
- 8:14Speaker 6: And there was a miss on the touchdown to on
- 8:18Speaker 6: the forty one yard to David Bell.
- 8:21Speaker 4: That hasn't happened like that.
- 8:24Speaker 6: It's sort of two weeks in a row where against
- 8:26Speaker 6: the against the Bengals they had stopped the run all
- 8:29Speaker 6: of a sudden, Against the Browns they had not allowed
- 8:33Speaker 6: touchdown big plays, all of a sudden they did.
- 8:37Speaker 4: They've got to stop that or it becomes who they are.
- 8:41Speaker 6: I don't know the answer to say, well, you made
- 8:44Speaker 6: a mistake on this play, gave a touchdown, don't make
- 8:47Speaker 6: the mistake again. I don't know how else to analyze
- 8:50Speaker 6: other than that, maybe I'm missing something.
- 8:54Speaker 3: Sorry, I don't have an answers either.
- 8:56Speaker 1: We're going to talk through some more of it coming
- 8:58Speaker 1: up next on jagxam as go over some of this
- 9:01Speaker 1: or that for us this week, and we also look
- 9:02Speaker 1: around the league see what's going on in the AFC South.
- 9:05Speaker 1: Here on jagsam presented by Jet Homebooks. For ten years,
- 9:16Speaker 1: Dreambinders Holmes has been proud to call themselves the official
- 9:19Speaker 1: homebuilder of the Jacksonville Jaguars. You can visit Dreambinders' homes
- 9:22Speaker 1: dot com for all of the available inventory. P Jaguars
- 9:27Speaker 1: Welcome back in to Jagszam this morning, as we're going
- 9:30Speaker 1: to talk a little bit about what's been going on
- 9:32Speaker 1: in the AFC South because as this gets closer to
- 9:35Speaker 1: the end of the season, we got to keep track
- 9:36Speaker 1: of those other teams. And if you didn't watch Monday
- 9:38Speaker 1: Night football, the Titans certainly put on a show as
- 9:41Speaker 1: Will Levis led come back against the Dolphins on the road,
- 9:46Speaker 1: and I didn't know they had to do home, especially
- 9:49Speaker 1: after the beginning of this game.
- 9:50Speaker 3: To be honest, it's the NFL.
- 9:53Speaker 4: It's end so strange.
- 9:55Speaker 6: That's why the people who are sort of panicked about
- 9:58Speaker 6: the Jags losing a couple in our and saying, oh,
- 10:00Speaker 6: they stink, they can't do anything. The Dolphins have looked
- 10:04Speaker 6: like world beaters, and they lost Tyreek Hill late in
- 10:07Speaker 6: the game. But you think about what their fans must
- 10:11Speaker 6: be saying. Think about what the Chiefs fans.
- 10:13Speaker 4: Must be thinking.
- 10:13Speaker 6: They used to win the Super Bowl every year and
- 10:15Speaker 6: now they've lost two in a row. These kind of
- 10:17Speaker 6: things happen late in the season. But it was an
- 10:21Speaker 6: impressive game for the Titans. Not that unexpected because a
- 10:26Speaker 6: vable coach teams, even when they're bad, are.
- 10:28Speaker 5: Gonna have these moments.
- 10:30Speaker 4: I'm a big believer in that guy.
- 10:32Speaker 5: Yeah, and they look they're playing with nothing to lose
- 10:36Speaker 5: right at four and eight. He's got those guys just
- 10:39Speaker 5: focused on playing physical football, and the Dolphins, for all
- 10:42Speaker 5: of their speed, are not a real physical football team,
- 10:44Speaker 5: but not all that strong on defense except the back end,
- 10:47Speaker 5: especially without Jalen Phillips right now. So he went in
- 10:50Speaker 5: there and beat him in a game they don't like
- 10:52Speaker 5: to play.
- 10:53Speaker 4: What also speaks to what this league is.
- 10:58Speaker 6: The league is set up to be late game thing, right,
- 11:03Speaker 6: I mean not late like this. The Titans came down,
- 11:07Speaker 6: the Dolphins had one drive where they couldn't convert, and
- 11:10Speaker 6: then the Titans do it again. It's unusual, obviously, but
- 11:16Speaker 6: in a past oriented league, this is.
- 11:18Speaker 5: What the league was not unusual this year. How about
- 11:21Speaker 5: the Bears coming back and beating the Lions. I mean,
- 11:23Speaker 5: the Bears had no chance according to anybody, and yet
- 11:26Speaker 5: here are the Lions, who were hoping to get to
- 11:29Speaker 5: ten and three and stay at the top of the
- 11:31Speaker 5: the NFC. They fell off to nothing worse than a.
- 11:35Speaker 1: Team with nothing to lose, as we see time and
- 11:37Speaker 1: time again throughout this. And then we'll headed to Houston,
- 11:41Speaker 1: who we thought was kind of, you know, the team
- 11:43Speaker 1: that we needed to be most concerned with, but they've
- 11:46Speaker 1: been dealing with a lot of injuries recently as well.
- 11:48Speaker 1: Of course, we know Tank Dell's out for the rest
- 11:49Speaker 1: of the season with his leg injury, and now c J.
- 11:52Speaker 1: Stroud's and concussion protocol, and Ego Collins had an injury
- 11:55Speaker 1: in the game as well, So this could really hamper
- 11:58Speaker 1: their you know, run at things towards us.
- 12:01Speaker 3: At the end of the years.
- 12:01Speaker 5: Well, I would expect that it will. You know, they
- 12:03Speaker 5: were a team that was playing with house money all
- 12:06Speaker 5: season long. The quarterback was given them a lot, and
- 12:10Speaker 5: they appear now with some injuries that they hadn't really
- 12:12Speaker 5: sustained to be on the cusp. I mean, they've got
- 12:16Speaker 5: to go now and play. They're at Tennessee.
- 12:19Speaker 3: This week, they are at Tennessee.
- 12:22Speaker 5: And then they've got Tennessee twice, Tennessee twice the last time,
- 12:25Speaker 5: and the Colts. They've got three conference games, they only
- 12:27Speaker 5: have one the three division games, and they only have
- 12:30Speaker 5: one division win. I believe that was over the Jaguars.
- 12:33Speaker 6: If the Jaguars have earned the spot where they are,
- 12:36Speaker 6: and when I say that, I mean they are what
- 12:39Speaker 6: four and one in the division right now?
- 12:41Speaker 5: Correct?
- 12:41Speaker 6: They swept the Colts that we're going to talk about
- 12:43Speaker 6: next and they split with the Texans, they're a game up,
- 12:47Speaker 6: but they're really a game and a half ash up,
- 12:49Speaker 6: even two games up. To me, it feels like both
- 12:54Speaker 6: the Texans and the Colts, one of them's gonna lose
- 12:57Speaker 6: once because they play each other. It feels like both
- 13:00Speaker 6: teams are playing the kind of football right now where
- 13:03Speaker 6: the best they go is three and one. That means
- 13:07Speaker 6: the Jaguars, if they split down the stretch and beat Tennessee,
- 13:10Speaker 6: win the division.
- 13:12Speaker 4: So there's some wiggle room for the Jags.
- 13:14Speaker 6: And when I say it that way, I say it
- 13:17Speaker 6: in a way that they earned that. Yeah, yeah, for
- 13:19Speaker 6: sure wiggle room, so then you take advantage of it.
- 13:22Speaker 6: But barring a collapse, if the Jaguars play okay, they're
- 13:28Speaker 6: still in control of this thing.
- 13:29Speaker 1: Makes you appreciate them having those games a little bit
- 13:31Speaker 1: earlier in this season, because when you got two or
- 13:33Speaker 1: three of them at the end of the year, there's
- 13:35Speaker 1: so much riding on those games.
- 13:37Speaker 3: The Colts are still in the mix here.
- 13:38Speaker 1: They lost last week to the Bengals, which certainly helped
- 13:40Speaker 1: out the Jaguars in terms of, you know, seating there
- 13:43Speaker 1: when they're all kind of still pretty close together. A
- 13:45Speaker 1: couple of games apart in the division standings, But Colts
- 13:49Speaker 1: have a tough schedule. They've got another divisional game coming up,
- 13:52Speaker 1: and then whether they'll be able to continue to contend
- 13:55Speaker 1: because they've struggled without Jonathan Taylor in there at running.
- 13:57Speaker 5: Back, and there's some thought that he might be back
- 14:00Speaker 5: this week. People are going to test them on the
- 14:01Speaker 5: practice field, so that would certainly give them a lift.
- 14:04Speaker 5: Let's be honest, though, I mean, Jonathan Taylor isn't the
- 14:07Speaker 5: story in Indian my mind. Mine says that defense, which
- 14:11Speaker 5: has created some points in some positive field situations for
- 14:15Speaker 5: Gardner and for that offense, if their defense comes up
- 14:20Speaker 5: opportunistically like they have at various points, you know, against
- 14:23Speaker 5: the Titans, against the Panthers, against the Patriots, then that
- 14:27Speaker 5: gives them a shot. They're hanging in there at the
- 14:28Speaker 5: very what are they seventh right now? Yeah, they're in it.
- 14:31Speaker 4: Yeah, right now. It's really a league. I wrote this
- 14:36Speaker 4: for quick thoughts tomorrow. The AFC right.
- 14:39Speaker 6: Now is the Ravens, and then there's a little bit
- 14:42Speaker 6: of a mix of Jags angles, I mean Jags, Dolphins,
- 14:49Speaker 6: maybe Chiefs. But there's seven or eight teams they could
- 14:52Speaker 6: all still be in this it's sort of the Ravens
- 14:55Speaker 6: and everybody else. Frankly, I mean the Chiefs and Dolphins
- 14:58Speaker 6: because they were hot early in the j are sort
- 15:00Speaker 6: of a but Bengals, Browns. Everybody's sort of saying the
- 15:05Speaker 6: Browns with such a bad loss. You know, the Browns
- 15:07Speaker 6: record is same as a jack yea. So it's a
- 15:11Speaker 6: very even AFC. It's as much parody after the Ravens
- 15:14Speaker 6: as I can remember.
- 15:15Speaker 5: You know, the Kansas City when you look at them
- 15:16Speaker 5: and people are what's the matter with them?
- 15:18Speaker 3: Right?
- 15:18Speaker 5: They're a mind a seven. I mean they have always
- 15:20Speaker 5: been a positive turnover ratio team with Andy Reid and
- 15:24Speaker 5: Patrick Mahomes, and because those receivers aren't the big play
- 15:28Speaker 5: guys that he's used to. The only guy down the
- 15:30Speaker 5: field that they've been able to consistently rely on is Kelsey,
- 15:33Speaker 5: and teams have been able to take him away. But
- 15:35Speaker 5: being minus seven is it is what Kansas City just
- 15:38Speaker 5: isn't the same Kansas City. They're obviously having to retool
- 15:41Speaker 5: and figure things out as they have traded away Tyreek
- 15:43Speaker 5: Hill and let some guys go in free agency.
- 15:45Speaker 3: Can't score it will as much as they use well.
- 15:48Speaker 6: It also shows you that as much as we all talk,
- 15:51Speaker 6: and I'm guilty of it, the whole quarterback who can
- 15:55Speaker 6: lift everything by himself is is a little bit of
- 15:59Speaker 6: a myth. Were one of the best quarterbacks of all time, Peyton.
- 16:01Speaker 6: He couldn't lift everything by himself. You needed players around him,
- 16:04Speaker 6: and even Brady had other things. I know the receivers
- 16:07Speaker 6: weren't always frontline guys, but there were other things for
- 16:10Speaker 6: those teams. As good as they are, none of them
- 16:15Speaker 6: could do it absolutely alone.
- 16:16Speaker 4: I think they maybe asking Patrick to do a little
- 16:18Speaker 4: too much this year.
- 16:19Speaker 3: They are We'll see, all right, stay with us.
- 16:21Speaker 1: We're gonna do a little this or that coming up
- 16:23Speaker 1: after the break here in Jagsam, Price dot com is
- 16:30Speaker 1: the easiest way to save money with comparison shopping, cash
- 16:33Speaker 1: back coupons, all that in one.
- 16:35Speaker 3: It's free.
- 16:36Speaker 1: Try price dot com today, this school that, this school that,
- 16:43Speaker 1: welcome back to jag Zam. We're gonna do a little
- 16:44Speaker 1: price dot com this or that. We're gonna talk about
- 16:47Speaker 1: some of what we've talked throughout the week, but look
- 16:50Speaker 1: at some film and kind of try to go with
- 16:52Speaker 1: what we think is going on, or try to choose
- 16:54Speaker 1: or what we think maybe they might change going forward.
- 16:56Speaker 1: So one of the things we talked about was the
- 16:58Speaker 1: susceptibility to that big play, specifically against the Browns, where
- 17:01Speaker 1: they gave up three of those big plays and some
- 17:04Speaker 1: of them coming on the blitz right, So they are
- 17:06Speaker 1: trying to help out their pass rush by sending extra people,
- 17:09Speaker 1: but that ends up burning them.
- 17:10Speaker 3: So it's a little bit of a double edged sword.
- 17:12Speaker 1: Do you try to help out the pass rush and
- 17:14Speaker 1: send extra people or do you try to keep them
- 17:16Speaker 1: back and try to prevent some of those big plays
- 17:18Speaker 1: from burning you. I mean, I guess it's you want
- 17:20Speaker 1: to do both ideally or pick your spots.
- 17:23Speaker 3: But is the blitz coming back to bite them? Sometimes?
- 17:25Speaker 5: Brands, Well, it does and they haven't been able to
- 17:28Speaker 5: get home John with four very often lately and that's
- 17:31Speaker 5: caused problems for them as well. Blitzing a guy like
- 17:35Speaker 5: Lamar Jackson is always dangerous because if everybody isn't in
- 17:40Speaker 5: their lane, he's thirty yards down the field before you
- 17:43Speaker 5: even know what comes at you.
- 17:44Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't think the first two.
- 17:46Speaker 6: Weren't as much pass blitz as they were biting on
- 17:50Speaker 6: play action. So look, you've got a blitz at times
- 17:56Speaker 6: or else you're two predictable in this scheme. You have
- 17:59Speaker 6: to bring guys or else it doesn't work. You know,
- 18:05Speaker 6: you've got to hope it works when when you send it.
- 18:08Speaker 6: H that's always the problem that you know. One thing
- 18:12Speaker 6: it's always true is when you don't blitz. Fancy, why
- 18:15Speaker 6: didn't you blitz?
- 18:16Speaker 4: It worked?
- 18:17Speaker 6: The blitz Well, if it worked all the time, you know,
- 18:19Speaker 6: the teams would always do blitzlit So so you've got
- 18:22Speaker 6: to pick your spots with it. They've got good blitzers
- 18:26Speaker 6: on this team.
- 18:28Speaker 5: Rachel Jenkins is very good at it, but he hasn't
- 18:30Speaker 5: gotten home in recent weeks.
- 18:31Speaker 4: Right, I don't think you stop it.
- 18:33Speaker 3: We did see Antonio Johnson get a strip seck.
- 18:35Speaker 5: Another young guy who can really get after it. Andre
- 18:37Speaker 5: Cisco is a good blitzer from that safety spot. So
- 18:41Speaker 5: it isn't so much blitzer not blitch. It's when to
- 18:43Speaker 5: blitz right in what situations and calling the right blitz
- 18:47Speaker 5: at the right moment. That's on they had well the.
- 18:49Speaker 3: Defensive coordinator, yes, Mike call Goal makes those choices. On
- 18:53Speaker 3: the other side of the ball.
- 18:54Speaker 1: We saw a lot of miscommunication that game against Cleveland,
- 18:57Speaker 1: probably more than we've seen on the offense in quite
- 18:59Speaker 1: some time, and it was demonstratively like you could see it,
- 19:03Speaker 1: like the just them both kind of the you know,
- 19:05Speaker 1: their hands, they're all talking a lot. It's noticeable that
- 19:08Speaker 1: they aren't understanding. They're not on the same page. They
- 19:11Speaker 1: aren't understanding what routes they're supposed to be running, or
- 19:14Speaker 1: Trevor thinks they're running a different route maybe whatever it is,
- 19:17Speaker 1: but they need someone to step up while Christian Kirk
- 19:19Speaker 1: is out for the foreseeable future, and I think at
- 19:22Speaker 1: this point we know Evan Ingram will step up, but
- 19:24Speaker 1: now it's going to be down between Zay Jones and
- 19:26Speaker 1: Calvin Ridley.
- 19:27Speaker 3: So when we look at these two guys, both of
- 19:29Speaker 3: them seem to.
- 19:29Speaker 1: Be a little bit off in that game against Cleveland, John,
- 19:32Speaker 1: do you think one or the other will be able
- 19:33Speaker 1: to kind of get back to where they need to be.
- 19:35Speaker 6: So I'm kind of hope they both will because I
- 19:38Speaker 6: think this offense, more than anything has shown ideally it's
- 19:42Speaker 6: got the four. The Big four doesn't have that, So
- 19:45Speaker 6: you know, it worries me to think that both of
- 19:48Speaker 6: these guys might not step up because in this passing offense,
- 19:52Speaker 6: I think you need those.
- 19:53Speaker 4: Three I would lean towards Zay if he was one
- 19:58Speaker 4: hundred percent healthy. I don't know that he is.
- 20:01Speaker 6: It's hard to know that because you know you can't
- 20:04Speaker 6: get inside somebody else's body. But it doesn't feel like
- 20:08Speaker 6: he's going at his highest level physically. If he's one
- 20:12Speaker 6: hundred percent physically, I think he steps up because I
- 20:14Speaker 6: think there is innate trust with he and Trevor.
- 20:17Speaker 5: Wednesday's right, and they do think it's to a degree.
- 20:19Speaker 5: You also have to get it going with Calvin Ridley.
- 20:23Speaker 5: You can't ignore him because if you do, he does.
- 20:29Speaker 5: With him, it's been the story of get him in
- 20:31Speaker 5: ball durly and things start to flow. He's not a
- 20:36Speaker 5: guy that you want to completely ignore because of a
- 20:38Speaker 5: couple of mistakes last week. Although how about Parker Washington.
- 20:42Speaker 5: I mean he's a guy that I think all of
- 20:44Speaker 5: us expect to make a play now based on what
- 20:47Speaker 5: we've seen the last two weeks.
- 20:48Speaker 6: Yeah, it's hard to put the go to make the
- 20:52Speaker 6: offense saying role on Parker because you don't know if
- 20:56Speaker 6: that trust is going to be there.
- 20:57Speaker 4: But I think he's going to be a factor.
- 20:59Speaker 6: I think one thing it sometimes gets lost and since
- 21:03Speaker 6: this after the New Orleans game, and then after this
- 21:05Speaker 6: game when you know he was Superman to be playing,
- 21:09Speaker 6: meaning Trevor, and for what ninety six hours leading to
- 21:15Speaker 6: the game, all anybody's talking about is can he play?
- 21:17Speaker 4: Can he play? Can he play?
- 21:19Speaker 6: And as soon as the game starts, you forget the
- 21:20Speaker 6: kids hurt, and you forget that he didn't practice, And
- 21:23Speaker 6: I get all these emails on Monday. Oh, Trevor Lawrence stinks,
- 21:27Speaker 6: he's this, He's not this? Well, did you forget that
- 21:30Speaker 6: he didn't practice last year? So's he's probably gonna have
- 21:33Speaker 6: some in accuracy and guess what, there's probably gonna be
- 21:35Speaker 6: some communication issues when a kid doesn't practice. So there
- 21:39Speaker 6: is that convenient amnesia. Oh I told you he wasn't
- 21:42Speaker 6: any good. Well, he's been good leading to that game.
- 21:47Speaker 6: He had been playing very well, even against Cincinnati until
- 21:50Speaker 6: he got hurt, and then all of a sudden it
- 21:52Speaker 6: wasn't the same.
- 21:53Speaker 4: Well, it's the ankle, Brian.
- 21:56Speaker 5: I just want to circle back to Parker Washington. I
- 21:59Speaker 5: didn't mean to implay. And the question didn't ask will
- 22:02Speaker 5: he become the go to guy? It said who will
- 22:04Speaker 5: step up? And he has stepped up the last two
- 22:07Speaker 5: weeks and made plays touchdowns, third down conversions. Now he
- 22:10Speaker 5: also had the fumble, But I'm I just I get
- 22:13Speaker 5: the sense talking to the kid that he could step
- 22:16Speaker 5: up and make a couple of plays here that would
- 22:19Speaker 5: free up Ridley or Jones from the double team, right,
- 22:23Speaker 5: because that's what we saw on that key fourth down play.
- 22:25Speaker 5: The safety and the linebacker both were right there on
- 22:28Speaker 5: Zay Jones. I mean, both of them right at the time.
- 22:31Speaker 5: So I think you need a guy like Washington in
- 22:33Speaker 5: the middle of the field or Luke Ferrell, right. I mean,
- 22:36Speaker 5: there's nothing that says that he can't come back out
- 22:38Speaker 5: and make a couple of plays for you as well.
- 22:40Speaker 1: And they can benefit from some of that too, because
- 22:42Speaker 1: if Ridley or someone else draws the coverage Parker Washington,
- 22:44Speaker 1: hopefully you'll.
- 22:45Speaker 3: Have a little bit of availability there.
- 22:46Speaker 1: And I will say he doesn't know the entire playbook, obviously,
- 22:49Speaker 1: he's a rookie, hasn't gotten there yet. But what he
- 22:50Speaker 1: does know he's good at. Yeah, you don't make some
- 22:52Speaker 1: impressive physical plays as well. Come down with football.
- 22:55Speaker 5: Sometimes you just need to play here or there from
- 22:57Speaker 5: some of these guys. They don't have to become a star.
- 22:59Speaker 4: And Parker's given. Yeah, just play here.
- 23:01Speaker 5: You can get somewhere with just one or two.
- 23:03Speaker 1: The flashes are there. It's great to see from Parker.
- 23:05Speaker 1: All right, say with us, we'll preview what we got

- 23:19Speaker 1: Zipchair is furniture made for fans and also the Sunday's
- 23:23Speaker 1: game is brought to you by publics where shopping is
- 23:25Speaker 1: a pleasure. Sunday Night football brought to you by public
- 23:28Speaker 1: six week against the Ravens should be a good one.
- 23:30Speaker 1: We know they're going to have another light show to
- 23:32Speaker 1: start up the game like they did last week, which
- 23:34Speaker 1: was pretty cool. It's just nice to have a primetime
- 23:36Speaker 1: game because it feels a little bit more important. Obviously,
- 23:38Speaker 1: this game is going to be important no matter what
- 23:40Speaker 1: time they played it at because of where these two
- 23:42Speaker 1: teams are at right now. But it's gonna have a
- 23:44Speaker 1: little extra juice being on a Sunday night.
- 23:45Speaker 5: Yeah, and this and this team could use a little
- 23:47Speaker 5: bit of extra juice coming off back to back losses.
- 23:49Speaker 5: You know, if you offer John to the coach, do
- 23:51Speaker 5: you think your team will play desperate this week like
- 23:53Speaker 5: the Niners did, like the Browns did. But he doesn't
- 23:56Speaker 5: like that line of questioning. He doesn't like that idea.
- 23:59Speaker 5: But there is something to the idea that you have
- 24:02Speaker 5: a team that says, our backs against the wall, let's
- 24:04Speaker 5: go right. There's something to that idea of rallying around
- 24:08Speaker 5: or circling the wagons, whatever metaphor you want to use,
- 24:11Speaker 5: but that this team uses the bright lights and the
- 24:14Speaker 5: last two losses and says our backs are to the wall,
- 24:17Speaker 5: let's go play.
- 24:18Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 24:18Speaker 6: And I probably fell victim to it a little bit
- 24:20Speaker 6: after the two losses of Oh, this is the Ravens.
- 24:22Speaker 6: There's no way they win this. They haven't been outclassed
- 24:28Speaker 6: the last couple of weeks. They've played poorly in some spots.
- 24:32Speaker 6: The Ravens I expect to be favorite, should be favorite,
- 24:36Speaker 6: the best team in the AFC. But this is a
- 24:38Speaker 6: game where I don't know why the Jaguars wouldn't be
- 24:42Speaker 6: confident going in. They beat him last year. They know
- 24:45Speaker 6: they can match up against the mobile quarterback. They're good
- 24:47Speaker 6: at stopping the run. If they play well, they can
- 24:50Speaker 6: win this game.
- 24:50Speaker 4: They have to play well.
- 24:51Speaker 5: You don't know, they've had some trouble in front of
- 24:52Speaker 5: their offensive line and been rotating offensive tackles in I'd
- 24:56Speaker 5: like to say, Josh Allen Trayvon Walker. I mean to me,
- 25:00Speaker 5: that's as key as there is in this game, is
- 25:01Speaker 5: those two guys keeping Lamar Jackson in the pocket and
- 25:04Speaker 5: getting some push up the middle.
- 25:06Speaker 3: See if they're able to do it, Josh.
- 25:08Speaker 1: Of course, approaching Klay's Campbell's single season sack record as well,
- 25:11Speaker 1: that's certainly in the mix for possibly happening. He's went
- 25:13Speaker 1: away from tying one and a half away from going ahead,
- 25:16Speaker 1: So see if that happens on Sunday night as well.
- 25:18Speaker 3: All right on.
- 25:18Speaker 1: Jags aam tomorrow, We're gonna go over all things Ravens
- 25:21Speaker 1: as we get prepped for Sunday night football.
- 25:23Speaker 3: See you tomorrow,
