- 0:02Speaker 1: This is an unspoiled network podcast. This is spoil Me,
- 0:10Speaker 1: covering one piece episodes eight seventeen and eight eighteen, Moist Cigarette,
- 0:22Speaker 1: the Night before Sonji's wedding, and the Undaunted soul Brook
- 0:29Speaker 1: versus Big Mom. In these episodes, we find out pudding
- 0:38Speaker 1: is evil and I couldn't be more delighted. This is
- 0:43Speaker 1: even better. Sorry, Sonji, I was rooting for you, guys,
- 0:48Speaker 1: but honestly, welcome to spoil Me. Welcome to the show everyone.
- 1:12Speaker 1: I am Natasha. Thank you very much to Florian for
- 1:17Speaker 1: commissioning today's episode. I had to stop at two, and
- 1:23Speaker 1: it was difficult. I actually like went to the spreadsheet
- 1:26Speaker 1: and was like, please let me be able to watch three.
- 1:29Speaker 1: Please let me. No, no, it was only two, because
- 1:32Speaker 1: you guys are cruel and mean. I you guys, I
- 1:35Speaker 1: swear the way that this goes is so funny, because
- 1:42Speaker 1: like I was refusing to believe it for a minute.
- 1:47Speaker 1: And I'll explain like what I was thinking as we
- 1:50Speaker 1: go through the episode. So the first first, I just
- 1:55Speaker 1: want to mention too, like moist Cigarette, what an odd
- 1:59Speaker 1: choice to this episode that it just feels like, you know,
- 2:06Speaker 1: it's just it feels very symbolic and metaphorical, and this
- 2:14Speaker 1: show isn't known for titling things in that way. It's
- 2:18Speaker 1: usually extremely literal the titles, and like you could say
- 2:23Speaker 1: this is very literal because the cigarette is moisten isn't
- 2:27Speaker 1: lighting as he's trying to light it, but like that's
- 2:29Speaker 1: not the point of the episode. On the other hand,
- 2:34Speaker 1: I do appreciate that it's like it's not titled pudding
- 2:39Speaker 1: is bad after all the night before Sanji's wedding, because
- 2:44Speaker 1: it has been known to sort of say things like that.
- 2:49Speaker 1: So we start off this episode with sanjy well no sorry,
- 2:54Speaker 1: we keep checking in with Lufy and Nami, and by
- 2:57Speaker 1: the second episode this winds up like paying off a
- 3:00Speaker 1: little bit more. But in this first of the two episodes,
- 3:04Speaker 1: it's really just to like watch Loufy struggling to yank
- 3:08Speaker 1: his own hands off and Nami crying and telling him
- 3:11Speaker 1: to stop it, and Lufy telling her that he is
- 3:15Speaker 1: going to do whatever he needs to do. And you know,
- 3:19Speaker 1: I should have realized that the urgency of Lufy attempting
- 3:23Speaker 1: to do this really ticked up after putting nelt and
- 3:26Speaker 1: spoke to him, but I didn't. I wasn't putting that
- 3:28Speaker 1: together at all. I'm really curious if you guys in
- 3:32Speaker 1: the audience here on my life, if you were still
- 3:37Speaker 1: suspicious of putting it this time, because you know that
- 3:40Speaker 1: I was suspicious of her up until, like honestly, I
- 3:46Speaker 1: was suspicious of her up until Soanjy talked to her
- 3:49Speaker 1: one on one. There was still a bit of me
- 3:51Speaker 1: that sort of wondered about like them coming to the
- 3:55Speaker 1: Seducing Woods and how that seemed like a setup, but
- 3:58Speaker 1: I was not sure, and like I got to appointment,
- 4:01Speaker 1: was finally like, Okay, I think I'm gonna let it go.
- 4:03Speaker 1: And I am just curious if there are other people
- 4:06Speaker 1: who were like still even at this point, going uh no,
- 4:10Speaker 1: I like this bitch. And I also am curious if
- 4:17Speaker 1: you guys put together that. When she stoops and speaks
- 4:22Speaker 1: in Lufy's ear, that's when he starts to kind of
- 4:24Speaker 1: like freak out a little bit more because I wasn't
- 4:26Speaker 1: clocking that at all. So we cut from Lufy panicking
- 4:32Speaker 1: to Sangi and he's looking down in concern at this
- 4:37Speaker 1: like plate that he has prepared. It's this beautiful bento
- 4:41Speaker 1: with like six different entrees like all tucked in there
- 4:46Speaker 1: and he's like, oh, I think I made too much.
- 4:49Speaker 1: I don't know what came over me, but you know, maybe,
- 4:53Speaker 1: and then he has a little like daydream about her
- 4:56Speaker 1: saying that there's too much food here and she wants
- 4:59Speaker 1: to share it with him, open up, you know, and
- 5:02Speaker 1: her feeding him, And I honestly should have realized here
- 5:13Speaker 1: when he's fantasizing about feeding her and her being cute
- 5:18Speaker 1: and sweet to him. A lot of the time this
- 5:22Speaker 1: show explicitly will choose to show us the day dream
- 5:26Speaker 1: of somebody because the show isn't going to do that,
- 5:29Speaker 1: and so it wants us to like feel the same
- 5:32Speaker 1: disappointment as the character who like really had their hopes up.
- 5:37Speaker 1: And there are definitely exceptions to that. When we were
- 5:43Speaker 1: with oh my god, guys, I've forgotten his name, what's
- 5:47Speaker 1: my favorite green haired boy who was such a fanboy,
- 5:52Speaker 1: he we had the daydreams of what he was hoping
- 5:55Speaker 1: for so that we could see when he gets exactly that,
- 5:59Speaker 1: like lufy hearing him on why it's touching him so
- 6:02Speaker 1: deeply because it's like his fondest fantasy that this would
- 6:06Speaker 1: even happen. Bartola Mayo, thank you. So with him, the
- 6:12Speaker 1: joke is different. The joke is he gets exactly what
- 6:15Speaker 1: he wants, which he never expected. And this I should
- 6:20Speaker 1: have seen that, like the fact that he's thinking this way,
- 6:24Speaker 1: it's a clue. But again I was not. I was
- 6:27Speaker 1: not thinking this way. So he has this little, you know,
- 6:31Speaker 1: moment where he hugs himself and there are all these
- 6:33Speaker 1: hearts pouring out and you just get to see him
- 6:37Speaker 1: for a second be happy, just you know, choosing to
- 6:43Speaker 1: engage with the one thing that he thinks is good
- 6:47Speaker 1: in his life. And then he walks down the hall.
- 6:53Speaker 1: He has to pass that eggplant man who actually, like
- 6:56Speaker 1: I didn't see this last time if he had it,
- 6:59Speaker 1: but he's physically holding an eggplant and handing it to
- 7:02Speaker 1: Sanjy trying to get him to take it. I don't
- 7:04Speaker 1: know how big eggplant got to you, dude, but you
- 7:08Speaker 1: are going to need to lower your profile if you
- 7:11Speaker 1: don't want your spot blown up, because this is not
- 7:15Speaker 1: the way to convert people to your ideology. I don't
- 7:20Speaker 1: know what's going on with you in eggplants. It's none
- 7:23Speaker 1: of my business, you know, consenting adult whatever. But I'm
- 7:27Speaker 1: just this is you are pushing too hard. It is
- 7:31Speaker 1: too much. You are going to need to back off
- 7:34Speaker 1: and reconsider your approach. That's all I'm saying. So then
- 7:40Speaker 1: he goes down the hall and he tries to get
- 7:42Speaker 1: into Pudding's room and her door is alive and very
- 7:48Speaker 1: much giving, like fat Lady at Hogwarts, where she's just
- 7:53Speaker 1: you know. He keeps insisting, like, can I come in?
- 7:55Speaker 1: And she doesn't say Pudding isn't here, which is what
- 7:59Speaker 1: I kind of I thought she was gonna say, but
- 8:01Speaker 1: instead she wants her and she says, pray vuh see, okay,
- 8:07Speaker 1: leave her alone, and she is like At one point,
- 8:13Speaker 1: he just sort of is like, well, let me leave
- 8:15Speaker 1: this stuff and I can give it to her, and
- 8:18Speaker 1: she just won't even like engage with that at all.
- 8:22Speaker 1: So he walks away and I again, let me take
- 8:26Speaker 1: a sip of my drink here. I should have realized
- 8:38Speaker 1: at the way that she is watching him that something
- 8:41Speaker 1: is up, so he's trying to think of another way
- 8:48Speaker 1: to get to her. And this is one of those
- 8:52Speaker 1: things where I understand that it's supposed to be cute
- 8:57Speaker 1: that he wants to see her so bad, but she
- 9:01Speaker 1: explicitly apparently is asking for privacy, and you're just not
- 9:04Speaker 1: respecting that which is kind of fucked up. And the
- 9:08Speaker 1: way that he tells himself that it's fine is like, oh, well,
- 9:11Speaker 1: she's gonna think I'm peeping, but we're getting married tomorrow anyway,
- 9:16Speaker 1: so I'll get to see as much as I want
- 9:18Speaker 1: all the time, so a little look won't harm anything.
- 9:21Speaker 1: And I'm just like, oh, that is so not the
- 9:23Speaker 1: fucking oh my god, dude. However, he goes like out
- 9:30Speaker 1: the door around her balcony and he looks in through
- 9:35Speaker 1: her window and she is standing with an eye open
- 9:43Speaker 1: in the center of her forehead, gloating to his sister,
- 9:51Speaker 1: who is bound and bleeding. So this is putting is
- 9:55Speaker 1: the person who found her in the hallway, And we
- 9:59Speaker 1: still I don't know if it was Putting that hurt her.
- 10:01Speaker 1: It doesn't appear that, based on Pudding's reaction when she
- 10:07Speaker 1: found her, I do not think that she's the one
- 10:09Speaker 1: who actually hurt his sister. Still kind of unclear to
- 10:14Speaker 1: me why she's been injured, so you know, I'm sure
- 10:17Speaker 1: we'll find this out later. And Pudding is saying, as
- 10:26Speaker 1: if I would marry that low class pirate, you must
- 10:30Speaker 1: be out of your frigging mind. No way in hell
- 10:35Speaker 1: she gets to go a little harder with her language here.
- 10:38Speaker 1: It's it's the no frigging way, which is definitely like,
- 10:42Speaker 1: you know, it's allowed, but it's not something that comes
- 10:45Speaker 1: up very much. And then later on she's talking about
- 10:48Speaker 1: like him lamenting that he's gonna have to leave the
- 10:51Speaker 1: straw hats, and she says, as if I give a shit,
- 10:54Speaker 1: And every time they say shit on this show, I'm
- 10:57Speaker 1: always shocked, even though I know what's happened before. So
- 11:04Speaker 1: he's watching her, and I'll tell you what, kids, I
- 11:10Speaker 1: was so sure that this wasn't really putting. For like
- 11:19Speaker 1: I'm gonna say about ten seconds, fifteen seconds, which is
- 11:25Speaker 1: like a fairly long time if you actually counted out.
- 11:29Speaker 1: As you're watching this moment, I really thought, is his
- 11:34Speaker 1: sister somehow projecting some kind of illusion? Can she like
- 11:39Speaker 1: make a double of pudding that's really convincing, but like
- 11:43Speaker 1: not quite on? And you know the third, I think
- 11:48Speaker 1: there was never anything about her design that hinted that
- 11:52Speaker 1: she was hiding something under her hair, Like Pedro, his
- 11:56Speaker 1: hair covers one eye all the time, and it's at first,
- 11:59Speaker 1: I just fully it as like a style choice, which
- 12:01Speaker 1: would have been fine, but then you know, we get
- 12:04Speaker 1: the reveal that he's actually missing his eye and with putting.
- 12:09Speaker 1: I don't know if it's just that her bangs have
- 12:11Speaker 1: always fallen so fully over her forehead that there was
- 12:15Speaker 1: no way to see, but I don't. I think she's
- 12:18Speaker 1: got like kind of that side sweat bang. So I really,
- 12:22Speaker 1: I really thought that somebody was attempting to fuck with
- 12:28Speaker 1: Sanchi for some reason, or attempting to get under his
- 12:33Speaker 1: skin and try and ruin the wedding and cause him
- 12:39Speaker 1: to walk back his decision to go along with everything
- 12:44Speaker 1: quietly and his sister sitting there, even though I had
- 12:50Speaker 1: seen that she was injured last episode, the way that
- 12:54Speaker 1: she seated, you can't really see that she's being held,
- 13:00Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. It's like it takes a
- 13:02Speaker 1: little while for the positioning of the camera, so to speak,
- 13:07Speaker 1: to turn in such a way that you actually see
- 13:10Speaker 1: she's bound. She's still bleeding. You know, there's been like
- 13:14Speaker 1: no care administered or anything. So I'm sorry. Bernadette's talking
- 13:21Speaker 1: about her first crush from Dragonball, who has three eyes
- 13:27Speaker 1: Chin Shinhan? Is that how I say? Look, I'm not
- 13:32Speaker 1: mad at a three eye thing. Honestly, it's not so bad.
- 13:36Speaker 1: But it was the thing that made me feel like,
- 13:39Speaker 1: this can't be putting. How would she have hidden that
- 13:42Speaker 1: it didn't feel like she was. And then as she
- 13:46Speaker 1: keeps talking, and she says, I think explicitly nobody in
- 13:53Speaker 1: my family knows my true nature something like that, and
- 13:59Speaker 1: it's honestly, let's see. Oh yeah, she says to his sister,
- 14:03Speaker 1: you honestly cannot be that naive, which I do enjoy
- 14:08Speaker 1: that line coming from her when that has been the
- 14:12Speaker 1: way she's portrayed, you know, and she's just playing a
- 14:18Speaker 1: role that she has such disdain for, and she has
- 14:22Speaker 1: done it quite convincingly. I am not going to lie,
- 14:25Speaker 1: I mean, you know. And she says, I'm one of
- 14:29Speaker 1: Mama's favorites, especially because of my acting. In fact, she
- 14:33Speaker 1: cares for me so much it's almost overbearing. Fool some
- 14:38Speaker 1: stupid man from time to time, and the old bag
- 14:41Speaker 1: is happy. And it was almost too easy tricking the
- 14:44Speaker 1: straw hats. Only my closest family knows what my true
- 14:48Speaker 1: nature really is. That's what it is, Okay. So at
- 14:53Speaker 1: this point, obviously I'm finally like, oh my god, this
- 14:57Speaker 1: is pudding. But I really he was hanging on there
- 15:00Speaker 1: for a second, guys, because there are so many abilities
- 15:04Speaker 1: in this world that can create an illusion or a
- 15:09Speaker 1: double of somebody, or force a person to kind of
- 15:13Speaker 1: act in a weird way that isn't true to their character,
- 15:16Speaker 1: you know. So I was just like hanging on for
- 15:20Speaker 1: a minute and finding out that this is it's not
- 15:25Speaker 1: only that she's faking, but that she is repeatedly faking.
- 15:32Speaker 1: So evidently this is something that they do all the time,
- 15:37Speaker 1: and it's like a red wedding situation where I get
- 15:41Speaker 1: you in here, we get married, and the instant it's done,
- 15:48Speaker 1: we kill your whole family so that we can do
- 15:50Speaker 1: whatever we want with what's left. Which it's kind of
- 15:56Speaker 1: crazy if this has been done before, that word hasn't
- 16:00Speaker 1: got out that Big Mom does things like this, because
- 16:04Speaker 1: I'm assuming that the people she does it with are
- 16:07Speaker 1: the ones who have some serious power and standing because
- 16:13Speaker 1: they've got something she wants. Otherwise she wouldn't bother. And
- 16:19Speaker 1: one could say, well, she kills everybody who's not on
- 16:23Speaker 1: her side, But like anybody who knows that this wedding
- 16:28Speaker 1: is going to take place that isn't in her vicinity,
- 16:31Speaker 1: if that family suddenly vanishes, I would expect someone to
- 16:35Speaker 1: notice that this is like a weird you know that
- 16:39Speaker 1: everybody's gone, So I don't know how this has been
- 16:46Speaker 1: pulled off if it's just accepted that, like if she
- 16:50Speaker 1: kills all of the people on their side, nobody else
- 16:53Speaker 1: knew about the marriage or everybody who did is there,
- 16:58Speaker 1: I don't know. I don't know, but either way it
- 17:01Speaker 1: doesn't really matter. This is like a full on scam
- 17:05Speaker 1: that they are pulling together. And it's very funny to
- 17:08Speaker 1: see the difference between Pudding and Lola. And Lola straight up,
- 17:12Speaker 1: I'm not marrying anybody that I don't get to choose,
- 17:15Speaker 1: and Putting is like, oh, I'll marry everybody. I'll marry anybody,
- 17:18Speaker 1: go ahead. I just want to fuck with them for
- 17:20Speaker 1: a bit. I just really like the power trip of
- 17:22Speaker 1: knowing that they're like in love with me before I
- 17:24Speaker 1: rip their heart out, which I'm very here for. For
- 17:28Speaker 1: the record, this is super fun. I was loving Putting
- 17:33Speaker 1: as even a slightly more boring character, just because it
- 17:40Speaker 1: felt like she was still acting on her own. You know,
- 17:45Speaker 1: she was still even inasmuch as she's being told who
- 17:47Speaker 1: to marry and whatnot. There was a sense of agency
- 17:50Speaker 1: with her going to the straw hats multiple times and
- 17:52Speaker 1: deciding to do her thing, and so I was still
- 17:55Speaker 1: happy with her, but this is just so much more fun.
- 17:59Speaker 1: I mean, come on, and I know, I know that,
- 18:04Speaker 1: like it sucks for soany Granted, he's sitting out there,
- 18:09Speaker 1: literally in the rain, after having had these like beautiful
- 18:13Speaker 1: day dreams of what it was going to be like
- 18:16Speaker 1: basically crying. He doesn't cry. I mean, how could you
- 18:19Speaker 1: tell tears in the rain? Am I right? Sorry? Guys,
- 18:25Speaker 1: I have to drink my caffeine because if I don't,
- 18:28Speaker 1: I will get a headache, and I have it sitting
- 18:30Speaker 1: here and it's getting cold. So I do hate watching
- 18:38Speaker 1: Sonji go through this realization, especially knowing that the whole
- 18:45Speaker 1: way that he was able to come to terms with
- 18:48Speaker 1: the direction his life has gone was by telling himself,
- 18:52Speaker 1: at least I will have a wife who loves me
- 18:55Speaker 1: and I can make the best of it. And now
- 18:58Speaker 1: it's not even that she's a monster who doesn't love
- 19:01Speaker 1: me and thinks I'm an idiot. It's that she plans
- 19:04Speaker 1: to murder him and everybody. And as this is happening, well,
- 19:12Speaker 1: I'm thinking, okay, so what's going on with the third
- 19:15Speaker 1: eye though, you know, like I'm watching putting and I'm
- 19:17Speaker 1: trying to figure out what her ability is, and I
- 19:22Speaker 1: still don't really know like the third eye specifically how
- 19:28Speaker 1: it plays into things. And I'm guessing that it's something
- 19:30Speaker 1: to do with like the seeing of people's memories somehow,
- 19:35Speaker 1: but you don't find that out for a little bit,
- 19:38Speaker 1: and so I was left very much in suspense now
- 19:41Speaker 1: realizing that like something's going on with her, that we
- 19:44Speaker 1: have a different thing. I was expecting when she says
- 19:52Speaker 1: the like the moment that we're married, I'm going to
- 19:55Speaker 1: fill him full of holes. I thought that it was
- 19:58Speaker 1: going to be that she could shoot lasers out of
- 20:00Speaker 1: her eyes or something, you know, that it would be
- 20:02Speaker 1: like very But she pulls out a gun and she
- 20:07Speaker 1: describes the gun by name and shows these like jacketed rounds,
- 20:12Speaker 1: and evidently the whole Germa six family is they have
- 20:21Speaker 1: that like really tough skin that's been genetically enhanced, and
- 20:29Speaker 1: so a normal bullet wouldn't go through them. Is that true, guys?
- 20:36Speaker 1: A bullet wouldn't go through them? Because like I maybe
- 20:43Speaker 1: maybe there's like an explanation for this, or maybe it's
- 20:46Speaker 1: just you know, perhaps Oda hadn't thought this far ahead
- 20:52Speaker 1: yet or I don't know, but like, there is a
- 20:57Speaker 1: point before we've really met his family, in the very
- 21:01Speaker 1: very beginning of our introduction to this area, when we
- 21:05Speaker 1: have the germistis boys on different islands and a guy
- 21:10Speaker 1: is about to get shot by some like townsperson and
- 21:15Speaker 1: then says wall and one of the other soldier steps
- 21:20Speaker 1: in front of him and takes the bullet for him.
- 21:24Speaker 1: But why bother, if you are bulletproof, and if you're bulletproof,
- 21:30Speaker 1: and you're genetically making all these different soldiers, why would
- 21:32Speaker 1: you make all of them bulletproof? Unless that guy was
- 21:36Speaker 1: just happens to be just like a regular dude. Because
- 21:38Speaker 1: I know that they've got a mix of like plain
- 21:41Speaker 1: old humans I guess probably in there with the genetically
- 21:45Speaker 1: engineered dudes. I just don't under like I know that
- 21:49Speaker 1: storytelling whise the point is for us to see how
- 21:52Speaker 1: dedicated their soldiers are that they would do that for
- 21:54Speaker 1: them with no question, no seeming hesitation, nothing. But now
- 22:00Speaker 1: that I know that they're all bulletproof, I'm just sort
- 22:02Speaker 1: of like, well, why would you even I would think
- 22:05Speaker 1: that you would want to sort of show off the
- 22:06Speaker 1: fact here that the bullets bounce off them, So I
- 22:12Speaker 1: don't know, but uh, it's evidently, like Pudding says, that
- 22:20Speaker 1: you would need like a special weapon to actually get
- 22:23Speaker 1: through their skin, which again, like that townsperson wouldn't have had.
- 22:27Speaker 1: So it's just sort of why. But the thing that
- 22:34Speaker 1: I was a little confused by at this point is
- 22:40Speaker 1: why is she telling his sister all of this, like
- 22:45Speaker 1: you didn't have to, You brought her to your room
- 22:49Speaker 1: and sat her down and then just spilled the beans.
- 22:54Speaker 1: Why would you do it? And eventually we get the answer,
- 23:02Speaker 1: ooh sorry, Seraphim says one of the augments, Judge gave
- 23:07Speaker 1: his kids with bulletproof skin. I'm guessing it's just not
- 23:09Speaker 1: worth the effort to do that kind of augmentation on
- 23:11Speaker 1: the grunts. They can just mass produce. Renaette says, grunts
- 23:15Speaker 1: you mean storm troopers and Seraphim as to why to
- 23:17Speaker 1: sacrifice a grunt because they're assholes who don't value No, no, no,
- 23:21Speaker 1: I'm saying, why not just let the why guard yourself
- 23:25Speaker 1: at all from something that won't hurt you. If you're
- 23:28Speaker 1: bulletproof and the guy tries to shoot you, just takes
- 23:32Speaker 1: a bullet because it's not gonna hurt, Like, it's not
- 23:34Speaker 1: gonna do anything, you know, And I think that the
- 23:40Speaker 1: answer is likely, well, he didn't want a hole in
- 23:43Speaker 1: his suit or something, and yes, that was worth a
- 23:46Speaker 1: guy's life, you know, maybe, But anyway, So it turns
- 23:55Speaker 1: out that what Pudding can do is reach into your
- 24:03Speaker 1: mind and pull out memories like they're a film strip.
- 24:11Speaker 1: And not only can she like remove them, she can
- 24:15Speaker 1: cut together edited versions to make anything seem real in
- 24:23Speaker 1: your memory, which is easily the most terrifying of all
- 24:29Speaker 1: of the abilities we have ever seen with any of
- 24:36Speaker 1: the devil Fruits. In my opinion, it's even more frightening
- 24:42Speaker 1: to me than Big Mom's power. Her power is incredibly ope,
- 24:51Speaker 1: don't get me wrong, So I understand my feelings on
- 24:56Speaker 1: this ability are not going to be shared by a
- 24:58Speaker 1: lot of people. Necessary. There are certainly things you could
- 25:03Speaker 1: argue that are more powerful, but I think it's way
- 25:10Speaker 1: more frightening to have an ability that can change who
- 25:15Speaker 1: somebody is from the inside by manipulating their mind and
- 25:19Speaker 1: them not even knowing that you've done that. And that's
- 25:22Speaker 1: what Our memories of our previous experiences are all lessons
- 25:29Speaker 1: that inform our future behavior. And the way that we
- 25:33Speaker 1: adapt and react, And so if somebody else has control
- 25:37Speaker 1: over any of those, then they have control ultimately over
- 25:42Speaker 1: us and what we do, and can manipulate things in
- 25:47Speaker 1: our past to push us in a different direction. And
- 25:54Speaker 1: to me, being able to yank somebody's life force out
- 25:59Speaker 1: while in intimidating and frightening isn't as unnerving as memory manipulation,
- 26:10Speaker 1: because when that's done to you, you know it's happening,
- 26:15Speaker 1: You're aware what's going on. It's not a sly, sneaky power.
- 26:22Speaker 1: It is a very overt obvious power, and it's awful, sure,
- 26:28Speaker 1: but this is something that you wouldn't know was done
- 26:33Speaker 1: to you. That's the point. And what's so difficult about
- 26:39Speaker 1: this is if you find out there is somebody on
- 26:43Speaker 1: your team or in your vicinity who can do this,
- 26:48Speaker 1: if you have ever been in a position where you
- 26:50Speaker 1: were alone with them, you can start to doubt your
- 26:54Speaker 1: own memories and begin to wonder if you even did
- 26:58Speaker 1: that happen or not, was this real or not? And
- 27:03Speaker 1: it's not necessarily that they even changed anything. It's inserting
- 27:08Speaker 1: this kernel of self doubt that will poison everything you
- 27:13Speaker 1: do and everything you believe and all of your trust
- 27:18Speaker 1: in people, it will all be tainted by this, like
- 27:23Speaker 1: wondering which is going to just eat away at you.
- 27:29Speaker 1: You know, this is just the scariest thing by far
- 27:35Speaker 1: that we have seen on this show, no contest, even
- 27:39Speaker 1: like I feel like Morio was one that really made
- 27:42Speaker 1: an impression on me, being able to basically yank people's
- 27:45Speaker 1: like souls out with their shadow once again fucked up totally,
- 27:52Speaker 1: and he can like make the shadows do stuff. And yes,
- 27:56Speaker 1: but this is getting at who you are as a
- 27:59Speaker 1: person and fundamentally changing your identity and maybe getting you
- 28:05Speaker 1: to do things you don't want to do or wouldn't
- 28:07Speaker 1: want to do. That if you recover your real memories,
- 28:11Speaker 1: you'll have to live with forever. And I just can't
- 28:16Speaker 1: imagine anything like the fact that she can snip parts
- 28:21Speaker 1: out and edit in. She says something about like, oh,
- 28:24Speaker 1: I have this memory from one of the chess pieces
- 28:28Speaker 1: from being shot. I think it's like one of those soldiers,
- 28:31Speaker 1: and she just inserts that instead. So she's got like
- 28:36Speaker 1: a friggin catalog of other options that she can cut
- 28:41Speaker 1: into a blank space instead so that it doesn't remain blank,
- 28:48Speaker 1: and maybe it doesn't make a lot of sense if
- 28:50Speaker 1: you really stop and think about it. But a lot
- 28:54Speaker 1: of us don't. We don't often like sit and go
- 28:57Speaker 1: through in our memory every event from moment to moment.
- 29:01Speaker 1: We remember flashes, we remember surges of emotion and response
- 29:05Speaker 1: to things. We remember a particularly cutting thing somebody said,
- 29:09Speaker 1: or something really embarrassing that we did. We remember bits
- 29:13Speaker 1: and pieces, and so it would be very easy to
- 29:16Speaker 1: overlook something that's patched that doesn't quite fit unless you
- 29:21Speaker 1: are asked to get into detail about it, and then
- 29:24Speaker 1: maybe you might notice. And honestly, I just I don't
- 29:32Speaker 1: know what you can do to undo this. That's the
- 29:38Speaker 1: big question for me, is like how do you fight
- 29:40Speaker 1: a power like this? I will say that there seems
- 29:43Speaker 1: to be one weakness to it right off the bat,
- 29:47Speaker 1: and that is it takes her a minute to find
- 29:50Speaker 1: the memory that she wants. She's got her fingers up
- 29:54Speaker 1: in this girl's brain for like a little while, and
- 29:58Speaker 1: it takes a second, and she actually has to tell
- 30:01Speaker 1: her like, relax, this won't take long. But it's not
- 30:04Speaker 1: like she can just reach in there and pluck it
- 30:06Speaker 1: out in a milliseconds. She's got to like kind of
- 30:09Speaker 1: shuffle around like she's rooting through a desk in the dark.
- 30:12Speaker 1: You know, that helps to know that it takes a
- 30:16Speaker 1: minute that maybe you can get away. But I don't
- 30:19Speaker 1: know if she's already got her fingers in you, if
- 30:21Speaker 1: it's possible to move or not. His sister isn't a
- 30:25Speaker 1: good example to go buy for that, because she's you know,
- 30:28Speaker 1: fixated in place because they have her prisoner. So I
- 30:32Speaker 1: don't know if if you were actually free to move about,
- 30:36Speaker 1: would you be able to like just duck away from
- 30:39Speaker 1: her hand, or if the moment she actually makes contact
- 30:43Speaker 1: you kind of freeze up. This is reminding me very
- 30:47Speaker 1: much of like a villain in the Dresden Files. I
- 30:51Speaker 1: think he's in the second No, he's in the third book.
- 30:56Speaker 1: He's in the third book, and he is a basically
- 31:04Speaker 1: like mind Raper. And there is a point where Harry
- 31:08Speaker 1: comes in and spots his friend, and there is a
- 31:11Speaker 1: double of himself standing behind her, because that's how this
- 31:14Speaker 1: being tricked its way in, And he has both his
- 31:19Speaker 1: like fingers on either side of her head like sunk
- 31:23Speaker 1: into her skull, and she is just staring, open mouthed
- 31:27Speaker 1: in this like scream, but it's very clear she can't
- 31:30Speaker 1: move and she as he is going through her memories,
- 31:34Speaker 1: she is experiencing them in real time and in this
- 31:40Speaker 1: exaggerated way where he's really like forcing even more fear
- 31:46Speaker 1: into it and everything. And that is something where if
- 31:49Speaker 1: he gets anywhere near you, it's over. Like you you
- 31:52Speaker 1: can't move. You can't because you are so immobilized by
- 31:57Speaker 1: the fear and shock and disorientate. So I hope that
- 32:04Speaker 1: you can just like duck and dive and get away
- 32:07Speaker 1: from her, but I don't know if that's possible. And
- 32:10Speaker 1: then when it comes to restoring the memories, this is
- 32:14Speaker 1: the thing that I'm really curious about, because like her
- 32:17Speaker 1: having this one other memory that she's able to use
- 32:20Speaker 1: instead that she's got locked and loaded and ready to go,
- 32:24Speaker 1: means that she's hanging onto memories. It's not like she
- 32:27Speaker 1: just like takes them out and drops them into a
- 32:32Speaker 1: friggin' shredder or something so that they are unusable or
- 32:38Speaker 1: that you can't like find them again. She keeps them
- 32:43Speaker 1: filed somehow. But how would somebody who doesn't have her
- 32:51Speaker 1: ability be able to restore that to the person it
- 32:56Speaker 1: was stolen from? Can you just like drop it on
- 32:59Speaker 1: their head and melts into their head? Like morning dew
- 33:03Speaker 1: on a flower, you know, like how exactly if that's it,
- 33:08Speaker 1: I'm not mad at it, that would be fine. It's
- 33:11Speaker 1: just sort of the most basic way I can imagine
- 33:15Speaker 1: that working. And if that is what happens, I know
- 33:22Speaker 1: that I'm getting into like maybe getting too literal with this.
- 33:25Speaker 1: But then what happens to that fake memory that got implanted?
- 33:29Speaker 1: If you put a real one back in, there's a
- 33:33Speaker 1: fake thing that's been displiced. So does the fake one
- 33:36Speaker 1: come back out again? Or is it just gone forever?
- 33:41Speaker 1: Like if she uses your memory to cut together for
- 33:45Speaker 1: somebody else's, you know, fake memory, and that is just
- 33:53Speaker 1: is replaced with the real one again, are you just
- 33:57Speaker 1: sit out of luck? Is your own real memory gone?
- 34:01Speaker 1: I am just I have so many questions about how
- 34:06Speaker 1: all this would work, and I am also curious what
- 34:10Speaker 1: else she can do. I don't know that she can
- 34:15Speaker 1: do anything else. But so often with devil fruit powers,
- 34:19Speaker 1: there is like one main main power, and then there
- 34:25Speaker 1: are like sometimes one or two sort of almost I
- 34:30Speaker 1: want to call them, like side effects results of that
- 34:33Speaker 1: power that allow them to do another thing. I'm gonna say,
- 34:39Speaker 1: I hope not. I hope that this is it because
- 34:43Speaker 1: this is already terrifying, genuinely, like really scary. I can't
- 34:49Speaker 1: imagine her having like another ability at her disposal. She's
- 34:55Speaker 1: already got the fact that she can fucking act her
- 34:58Speaker 1: ass off, which kudos, because she really had me fooled. Finally,
- 35:02Speaker 1: she really like everything that I was suspecting her. All
- 35:07Speaker 1: of the reasons I felt suspicious were circumstantial. None of
- 35:11Speaker 1: it was due to her behavior, you know, none of
- 35:13Speaker 1: it was like she had a tell or give away
- 35:16Speaker 1: of any kind. It was purely she's related to Big
- 35:20Speaker 1: Mom and therefore is probably bad, and because Sangi is
- 35:26Speaker 1: related to his garbage family but is a good dude.
- 35:29Speaker 1: I was exceedingly willing to give her the benefit of
- 35:32Speaker 1: the doubt because you know, broad brushes and all that.
- 35:37Speaker 1: Here we are, okay, So she does this to cover
- 35:49Speaker 1: up this memory. It's kind of funny because you know,
- 35:55Speaker 1: before I was saying, why would she tell her all this?
- 35:58Speaker 1: And then we find out that she can change your
- 36:00Speaker 1: memory so that she doesn't even remember all of it,
- 36:02Speaker 1: and like that explains why she's not worried, But it
- 36:08Speaker 1: doesn't really explain why she is telling his sister at all.
- 36:14Speaker 1: All I can think is that it's just pure I
- 36:19Speaker 1: want to gloat to somebody and I want to feel superior,
- 36:25Speaker 1: because this is what she also did with Lufy. She
- 36:28Speaker 1: didn't have to tell Lufy that, like, I've got Sanjy
- 36:32Speaker 1: right where I want him, and he fell for my
- 36:33Speaker 1: whole stick. What an idiot. She could have just shut
- 36:37Speaker 1: the fuck up until the wedding night and her wedding day,
- 36:41Speaker 1: I should say, but she can't resist, she can't seem
- 36:48Speaker 1: like it just really feels like she is so pleased
- 36:54Speaker 1: with herself, and that's all it's about is purely ego,
- 37:00Speaker 1: and that is extremely weak sauce in terms of behavior,
- 37:07Speaker 1: not in terms of writing. I want to be clear
- 37:09Speaker 1: because there are a lot of people who are motivated
- 37:11Speaker 1: by pure ego, and I won't lie sometimes that is me.
- 37:15Speaker 1: I also am this way, but like she is, so
- 37:20Speaker 1: I have to imagine that maybe this is part of
- 37:23Speaker 1: it for her, is that knowing she can change people's memories.
- 37:26Speaker 1: It's like she kind of gets off on the fact
- 37:28Speaker 1: that she can tell them the whole plan and then
- 37:32Speaker 1: remove it, and so as their family gets like annihilated,
- 37:37Speaker 1: she can be like, and I told you that this
- 37:39Speaker 1: was gonna happen, but you don't even remember, you fucking simp.
- 37:42Speaker 1: You know. Sorry, I'm just looking at the uh. Bernadette says,
- 37:48Speaker 1: I'd love me some good villain monologue. Pumpkin's power is great.
- 37:52Speaker 1: Wait a minute, Pumpkin, Wait a minute, Wait a minute, Pumpkin.
- 38:00Speaker 1: She called pumpkin and like the dub or the if,
- 38:06Speaker 1: she's named pumpkin, guys, and I didn't know that that
- 38:09Speaker 1: was like an alternate name. Oh, it's a typo okay
- 38:15Speaker 1: because it says pumpkin twice. There are two different comments
- 38:17Speaker 1: where it said that. So I didn't realize that was
- 38:19Speaker 1: a typo okay. If her name was Pumpkin, I was
- 38:22Speaker 1: going to be very delighted because I really love that.
- 38:24Speaker 1: But fair okay. Saraphim says it's scary. It's just at
- 38:30Speaker 1: least limited in what she can do. By needing access
- 38:32Speaker 1: to them in time to do the editing. It doesn't
- 38:34Speaker 1: stop her from getting her face punched, and if she
- 38:36Speaker 1: isn't very careful about it. Bernadette says, it's not a
- 38:39Speaker 1: battlefield power, but pulling the strings in the background power,
- 38:42Speaker 1: and those are always scariest. Exactly she had you fooled.
- 38:47Speaker 1: It was great, Saraphim says, would you wouldn't you want
- 38:51Speaker 1: to give a good gloat after having to keep up
- 38:53Speaker 1: the act of being naive, a naive little waif all
- 38:56Speaker 1: the time. Saraphim, I have said so many times that
- 39:02Speaker 1: I would never be able to go undercover as somebody
- 39:05Speaker 1: who was like weaker or stupider than I am, because
- 39:09Speaker 1: my ego wouldn't let me. I would be giving it
- 39:11Speaker 1: up like that. I would be absolutely blowing my cover.
- 39:16Speaker 1: The instant that somebody like tried to talk down to
- 39:19Speaker 1: me or assumed I didn't know things or whatever, it
- 39:23Speaker 1: would be over because I would be so irritated that
- 39:27Speaker 1: I wouldn't be able to resist just snapping at them.
- 39:31Speaker 1: So like when you said, when you want a good gloat,
- 39:34Speaker 1: it wouldn't even be a gloat because I know I
- 39:37Speaker 1: would ruin the plan. I wouldn't even be able to
- 39:40Speaker 1: get to the end. It only really counts as gloating
- 39:43Speaker 1: if you've like either almost succeeded and it's just on
- 39:47Speaker 1: its way, or you have already succeeded and I wouldn't
- 39:50Speaker 1: even get that far. I'll be very very real with you, guys.
- 39:53Speaker 1: I couldn't take it, And this is not to say
- 39:56Speaker 1: that I can't stand feeling stupid without being a bit
- 40:00Speaker 1: about it. Like I feel stupid all the time, depending
- 40:03Speaker 1: on the topic. But it's when I if I were
- 40:06Speaker 1: asked to pretend to be less than and people believed
- 40:09Speaker 1: it and treated me in a certain way, it would
- 40:11Speaker 1: just make me blood boil. I wouldn't be able to
- 40:14Speaker 1: do it. So yeah, like I can see how this
- 40:19Speaker 1: would be the one way that she's able to let
- 40:21Speaker 1: off steam, because it's like even having I'm sorry, Bernadette
- 40:28Speaker 1: says typo about Pumpkin. It's late and I have gored
- 40:31Speaker 1: on the brain, which feels very dirty, Bernadette. That feels
- 40:35Speaker 1: like a euphemism for sure, But I'm just gonna let
- 40:38Speaker 1: it go. But it's not even like putting could weight
- 40:44Speaker 1: and gloat after they begin to attack, because I'm assuming
- 40:50Speaker 1: the plan is to kill everybody so quick that you
- 40:53Speaker 1: almost don't realize it's happening until it's over. You know,
- 40:57Speaker 1: there's no time for a good glow in the midst
- 41:00Speaker 1: of that. You kind of have to do it the
- 41:02Speaker 1: night before. That makes sense, and all things considered, guys,
- 41:13Speaker 1: this these two episodes, I fully understand why I'm only
- 41:17Speaker 1: watching two episodes, like, I'm only talking about putting so far,
- 41:20Speaker 1: and I'm already of forty five minutes. So this is
- 41:22Speaker 1: not a criticism of the breakdown, But honestly, a big
- 41:28Speaker 1: chunk of these two episodes is just putting making fun
- 41:33Speaker 1: of Soangy imitating him, and then her little weird sycophantic
- 41:39Speaker 1: homies laughing at her imitation and telling her how like oh,
- 41:45Speaker 1: that's uncanny, you sound just like him, or yeah, he's
- 41:47Speaker 1: a real idiot, isn't he. It's so much of these
- 41:52Speaker 1: two episodes is just that. And she even like take
- 41:58Speaker 1: like makes her face blow up to sort of look
- 42:01Speaker 1: like Soangie's when he took that like bandage off, And
- 42:05Speaker 1: that's the part, Like it's one thing to know that
- 42:08Speaker 1: somebody doesn't care about you, that they are involved in
- 42:13Speaker 1: something and they're going to betray you. It's another thing
- 42:16Speaker 1: for them to like mock you in this very specific
- 42:19Speaker 1: personal way, especially when you were being real vulnerable with
- 42:23Speaker 1: them in a way that you aren't usually. And so
- 42:28Speaker 1: it's I'm already like, ah, poor Soangie, this sucks. And
- 42:34Speaker 1: then when she starts to really get into it with
- 42:36Speaker 1: like kicking him while he's down and mocking him confiding
- 42:40Speaker 1: in her and everything. I was just like, that's rough, buddy,
- 42:48Speaker 1: I just hate that. Like, there was a a Colombo
- 42:53Speaker 1: episode that I watched not long ago, and this woman
- 42:58Speaker 1: comes back to her and she's like a sex therapist.
- 43:02Speaker 1: So her office has a bed and fireplace and everything
- 43:06Speaker 1: in it because the point is that she sometimes will
- 43:09Speaker 1: leave couples in there and they will like report back
- 43:13Speaker 1: to her immediately after an encounter. I don't know if
- 43:16Speaker 1: this is a real thing that any sex therapist does,
- 43:18Speaker 1: but this is for the episode. And she comes back
- 43:21Speaker 1: early and she had been sleeping with one of her
- 43:23Speaker 1: colleagues and catches him in there with his secretary, and
- 43:29Speaker 1: you really get the impression watching it. Sure, she's upset
- 43:33Speaker 1: that he's cheating on her, but she probably would have
- 43:39Speaker 1: just walked away and then wound up dumping him and
- 43:41Speaker 1: all that if it were only that. But she's standing
- 43:45Speaker 1: outside the door and she sees through the crack that
- 43:48Speaker 1: they're in there and stops. Sure, and they're talking, they're
- 43:50Speaker 1: not sleep having sex anymore, and his mistress is saying,
- 43:56Speaker 1: if I were a dessert, what kind of dessert would
- 43:58Speaker 1: I be? And he says, like, you know, double chocolate
- 44:02Speaker 1: cherry cake or something like that. And then she says,
- 44:05Speaker 1: and what kind of dessert would Dolores be about her?
- 44:09Speaker 1: And he says rice pudding, old rice pudding, And it
- 44:16Speaker 1: really hit for me as I was watching. I could
- 44:20Speaker 1: have let it go. You're just cheating, that's fucked up.
- 44:23Speaker 1: That sucks. But to like actually be talking shit about
- 44:29Speaker 1: me to somebody like that, and for you to be
- 44:32Speaker 1: laughing over it together, I would lose my fucking mind.
- 44:37Speaker 1: I would. You know, she stages this murder and I
- 44:41Speaker 1: was really not even that mad at her. I was like,
- 44:43Speaker 1: that's fine, you know, do your best. I know you're
- 44:45Speaker 1: gonna get caught, but like, at least he'll still be dead.
- 44:47Speaker 1: Fuck that guy. So I'm sorry, Bernadette. I meant it literally,
- 44:55Speaker 1: I have a pumpkin in the fridge. I need to
- 44:57Speaker 1: figure out what to cook with. Oh that's so funny.
- 45:02Speaker 1: So anyway, this is like a hugely long session between
- 45:08Speaker 1: her and there's this guy that I think is like
- 45:11Speaker 1: there's the homies in this are actually named, which it's
- 45:17Speaker 1: not like that never happens, but we've not really seen
- 45:19Speaker 1: it a lot. And we've got Nitro and Rabian and
- 45:25Speaker 1: Nitro is sort of like just like a pile of
- 45:28Speaker 1: slime with like a fedora on. It's a weird. I
- 45:34Speaker 1: don't know what it was that he is like originally
- 45:37Speaker 1: supposed to have been, or what it is that he's
- 45:39Speaker 1: meant to be now. And he like smokes a cigar
- 45:43Speaker 1: as well, And then when Rabian drops down, I think
- 45:48Speaker 1: this is her her carpet that she was riding the
- 45:53Speaker 1: first time we said, which I had totally forgotten we
- 45:55Speaker 1: had like a fucking flying carpet in this show. But
- 46:01Speaker 1: but yeah, so I don't know what this slime dude is.
- 46:04Speaker 1: But anyway, the episode ends with a cutback to Loofy
- 46:11Speaker 1: desperately trying to get out of his restraints, and then
- 46:15Speaker 1: we jump to the undaunted soul Brook versus Big Mom,
- 46:20Speaker 1: and the opening of the episode is putting fucking with
- 46:29Speaker 1: his sister's memories, and then we go to Brooke, who
- 46:33Speaker 1: is facing off against Big Mom and Prometheus. And what's
- 46:38Speaker 1: the other thundercloud is? That? Is he thor or Zeus?
- 46:42Speaker 1: It's some god name. I Bernadette says fadoras are always
- 46:51Speaker 1: ever worn by slimes. And I am not kidding Bernadette
- 46:54Speaker 1: when I almost said that, like I really did. Saraphim says,
- 46:59Speaker 1: name is just a jelly. So just a sentient pile
- 47:03Speaker 1: of jelly, because that's how big Mom rolls. Prometheus is
- 47:07Speaker 1: the sun, Zeus is the cloud. Okay, a sentient pile
- 47:12Speaker 1: of jelly. I guess why not? So this with Brooke,
- 47:20Speaker 1: it's so First of all, she says, this skeleton has guts,
- 47:24Speaker 1: and I thought for sure Brooke doesn't even like react.
- 47:28Speaker 1: I thought he would do something. He just like doesn't
- 47:32Speaker 1: make a joke. He doesn't say anything. He doesn't even
- 47:34Speaker 1: like smirk nothing, you know, and he you know, she
- 47:41Speaker 1: wants to keep him for herself because he's this unusual,
- 47:44Speaker 1: weird creature that she's never seen before. And so it's
- 47:48Speaker 1: a weird situation that he's in where he has to
- 47:53Speaker 1: fight her and know that like she's not going to
- 47:55Speaker 1: be trying to kill him, she's going to be trying
- 47:58Speaker 1: to just take him out, keep him alive so that
- 48:01Speaker 1: she can hold onto him as a kind of curio.
- 48:05Speaker 1: And Brooke is searching for an opening with his sword
- 48:11Speaker 1: out and he backs up and is like watching her
- 48:15Speaker 1: and her eyes turn red. And I wasn't sure if
- 48:18Speaker 1: this was supposed to be that she's activating an ability
- 48:20Speaker 1: or if this is just how he's seeing her. I
- 48:23Speaker 1: think it's just that is how he's seeing her. And
- 48:28Speaker 1: he does this thing where he like manages to run
- 48:31Speaker 1: so fast that he builds up centrifugal force and is
- 48:35Speaker 1: like circling them perpendicular on the wall, and then he
- 48:41Speaker 1: comes at them and has launched himself. I guess it's
- 48:46Speaker 1: supposed to be that, like, by going in a circle,
- 48:48Speaker 1: he's built up momentum so that when he finally launches
- 48:52Speaker 1: himself at them, he will have more like intensity in
- 48:57Speaker 1: the attack. Right, it does nothing. He is midair and
- 49:05Speaker 1: gets electrocuted and just drops to the floor like a
- 49:10Speaker 1: piece of dead grass. And both of these two, Zeus
- 49:17Speaker 1: and Prometheus are basically like, you're not getting anywhere near
- 49:23Speaker 1: or it's not even gonna be a fight between like
- 49:25Speaker 1: you and mom. It's us and mom. She'll use us
- 49:30Speaker 1: and doesn't even have to get involved. And we get
- 49:36Speaker 1: a bunch of like Brooke getting chased by fire and
- 49:39Speaker 1: attempting some different you know, And then eventually he launches
- 49:43Speaker 1: into another one of his guitar attacks, and I just
- 49:48Speaker 1: want to say, again, how dope this looks. I actually
- 49:51Speaker 1: like took a picture of this and sent it to
- 49:54Speaker 1: Marshall and was just like, look at how cool his
- 49:56Speaker 1: attack is, Babe. This is so awesome. And I'm like
- 49:59Speaker 1: very into it. And you see the like strands of
- 50:02Speaker 1: smoke from the spell I'm calling it a spell sort
- 50:06Speaker 1: of just circling around them, and there's a feel of like,
- 50:09Speaker 1: oh no, you know, he is going for it. And
- 50:14Speaker 1: then he looks up and the sort of smoke just
- 50:20Speaker 1: dissipates gone, and the three of them are laughing down
- 50:27Speaker 1: at him, and he says, no, good huh, And Zeus
- 50:33Speaker 1: says that ain't gonna work, and Prometheus says, your song
- 50:40Speaker 1: was a flop, which is so like Zeu's just saying
- 50:45Speaker 1: that ain't gonna work. Fine, that's just like a battle thing,
- 50:49Speaker 1: but saying your song is a flop ouch, that's a
- 50:52Speaker 1: necessary okay. Prometheus yikes with a burn on two levels.
- 50:59Speaker 1: And poor Brook it's like he's not even trying to
- 51:04Speaker 1: get ready to defend himself again. He's so baffled that
- 51:07Speaker 1: this didn't do anything, and he just is shouldn't this
- 51:11Speaker 1: have like affected you guys, And they're essentially yeah, no,
- 51:19Speaker 1: that is not a strong enough attack at all. And
- 51:22Speaker 1: this is when we get another like you know, zap
- 51:27Speaker 1: attack on him. He is, it's strong enough that he collapses,
- 51:33Speaker 1: and they worry for a moment that maybe they went
- 51:36Speaker 1: too hard because the whole thing is supposed to be
- 51:38Speaker 1: don't kill him, Mama wants him. And once he's down
- 51:43Speaker 1: and they realize, like they keep saying, I'll be the
- 51:46Speaker 1: one who delivers the final blow, and I'm like, you
- 51:49Speaker 1: just were hoping that he wasn't actually dead. Why are you?
- 51:53Speaker 1: You know? But they argue for a minute over who's
- 51:58Speaker 1: going to get to do it, which gives Brooke just
- 52:01Speaker 1: enough time to uh, he's like ready to defend himself.
- 52:07Speaker 1: He gets his what do you call it? Sword cane
- 52:11Speaker 1: I guess, and he's ready to lift it, and then
- 52:14Speaker 1: all of a sudden, this huge fucking sword comes down.
- 52:21Speaker 1: And it was unclear to me exactly what was going
- 52:24Speaker 1: on here because she says, that's enough bickering out of you, tube,
- 52:29Speaker 1: break it up. And as she says that, she pulls
- 52:31Speaker 1: Zeus and Prometheus away from each other, and then all
- 52:35Speaker 1: of a sudden, I think this is her hat? Does
- 52:39Speaker 1: the blade come out of her hat? Guys? It looks
- 52:42Speaker 1: like her hat, but it falls on him and it's
- 52:47Speaker 1: like you see pieces of something shatter, and I thought
- 52:50Speaker 1: it was his blade, but now that I'm watching, he's
- 52:53Speaker 1: got his blade. Oh, I think it was his sunglasses. Yeah, okay,
- 52:57Speaker 1: it is her hat and she calls it uh Napoleon,
- 53:03Speaker 1: Zeus and Prometheus are yelling at her hat and saying
- 53:07Speaker 1: that's cheating. You can't cut in like that. So apparently
- 53:11Speaker 1: the hat is also sentient, but we don't actually see
- 53:17Speaker 1: I was gonna say, we don't see a face on it,
- 53:20Speaker 1: but it's got like a jolly Roger on it with
- 53:22Speaker 1: a uh you know, so I guess that's its face,
- 53:26Speaker 1: but it's just not what I'm used to seeing because
- 53:28Speaker 1: they are more three dimensional usually. And this is when
- 53:33Speaker 1: Big Mom is just like, dude, I get it. You
- 53:37Speaker 1: tried your best, and you know, good for you, but
- 53:40Speaker 1: it's really just time to wrap it up and give up.
- 53:45Speaker 1: And we have just a moment of her and Brooke
- 53:50Speaker 1: kind of going back and forth where he's explaining I
- 53:54Speaker 1: know who Sonjy is, and I know that he would
- 53:57Speaker 1: sacrifice himself rather than have his friends be in danger,
- 54:01Speaker 1: and that when he makes his mind up to do that,
- 54:03Speaker 1: there's no stopping him. But I am going to do
- 54:07Speaker 1: what I can do while I am here, and the
- 54:10Speaker 1: pony glyph is my goal, and at least he could
- 54:13Speaker 1: know that maybe his presence here allowed us to accomplish
- 54:17Speaker 1: something essential. I was sort of puzzled as to why
- 54:21Speaker 1: Brooke is like telling her exactly what it is he's after.
- 54:26Speaker 1: I assume she's like figured it out, but I just
- 54:30Speaker 1: felt like, just don't tell her stuff, Like you know
- 54:33Speaker 1: what I'm saying, I don't know. And he says like
- 54:38Speaker 1: worst comes to worst and I can't even remember what
- 54:40Speaker 1: he says, but he's like citing a couple of worst
- 54:44Speaker 1: case scenarios and both of them are really not all
- 54:48Speaker 1: that bad. And I found it very funny that the
- 54:50Speaker 1: next line is literally a big mom saying, I think
- 54:54Speaker 1: your idea of worst case scenario is rather tame. Sanji's
- 54:58Speaker 1: staying behind me, that's the worst outcome. Try again, has
- 55:03Speaker 1: it ever occurred to you that maybe everybody might die?
- 55:10Speaker 1: And the camera like zeros in on her eyeball as
- 55:14Speaker 1: it gets the like red threads through it, indicating that
- 55:17Speaker 1: she's really starting to lose it, and Brooke just says,
- 55:22Speaker 1: only a fool would include his own death as part
- 55:27Speaker 1: of a plan young lady. Okay, first of all, that
- 55:32Speaker 1: response doesn't have anything to do with what she said,
- 55:35Speaker 1: so that's weird. And second of all, calling her young
- 55:39Speaker 1: lady is a weird Like I think it's just meant
- 55:43Speaker 1: to sort of insult her because she's not young. But
- 55:47Speaker 1: it's not like she's a character who has ever shown
- 55:49Speaker 1: herself to be like vain or anything like that. And
- 55:54Speaker 1: I've never heard him call somebody young lady to insult
- 55:57Speaker 1: them in a petty way like this. So that whole
- 56:00Speaker 1: sentence and the way it's delivered is just weird because
- 56:05Speaker 1: it feels like he's having an entirely different conversation than
- 56:08Speaker 1: she is. She's telling him, you're thinking, the worst thing
- 56:12Speaker 1: that can happen is your friend being here, and I'm
- 56:13Speaker 1: telling you everybody might get murdered, and he's just like,
- 56:18Speaker 1: who includes their own death and a plan? And I'm like,
- 56:21Speaker 1: what are you fucking talking about? Brooke. The whole like,
- 56:24Speaker 1: there's just a sense to me of disconnect there, and
- 56:28Speaker 1: I'm assuming that that has to be some kind of
- 56:31Speaker 1: translation issue. But yeah, so that's where it cuts away,
- 56:35Speaker 1: and we then go to Carrot and Chopper, and it
- 56:41Speaker 1: turns out you can ask the mirrors where they lead.
- 56:49Speaker 1: So at first we just have Carot like straight up
- 56:52Speaker 1: torturing Bruet. The torture is granted, rather tame in that
- 56:58Speaker 1: it is uh tickle torture, But anybody out there who
- 57:05Speaker 1: hates being tickled, you fucking know how hideous that can be.
- 57:09Speaker 1: If you don't want to be tickled, or if it's
- 57:12Speaker 1: like really gets to you in a certain way, it
- 57:14Speaker 1: fucking sucks. So as much as it's not, you know,
- 57:18Speaker 1: particularly brutal, I was also still kind of like, oh god,
- 57:22Speaker 1: that's that's awful. But yeah, they can like call out
- 57:25Speaker 1: and be like, hey, mirrors, we're going to get to
- 57:27Speaker 1: this one place, and they will tell you where they lead,
- 57:30Speaker 1: and you can ask them to find somebody, but you
- 57:33Speaker 1: just have to know, like you have to be able
- 57:35Speaker 1: to tell them what the person you're looking for looks like.
- 57:39Speaker 1: And so Carot says, I'm actually a pretty good artist,
- 57:43Speaker 1: so leave it to me. But we don't actually get
- 57:45Speaker 1: to see in these episodes her like do a drawing
- 57:48Speaker 1: or anything like that. It's just purely her saying that,
- 57:51Speaker 1: and then we cut away again. And then the second
- 57:55Speaker 1: of these two episodes ends with we go back to
- 57:58Speaker 1: Loofy and it's not me, just like screaming at him
- 58:02Speaker 1: to try to stop trying to like hurt himself, and
- 58:06Speaker 1: the like cream Monster dude is starting to get worried
- 58:12Speaker 1: because like Lufi is taking things pretty far and he's
- 58:15Speaker 1: not sure, like should I call somebody in to deal
- 58:19Speaker 1: with this? What should I do? And just as he
- 58:22Speaker 1: is wondering that, Jim Bay comes in and beats the
- 58:26Speaker 1: shit out of this guy out of nowhere. I don't
- 58:30Speaker 1: know how this all ties together. Eventually we will find out.
- 58:35Speaker 1: I was certain that he was okay, but the fact
- 58:38Speaker 1: that he's like freely able to walk around and do
- 58:41Speaker 1: what he wants that I didn't expect. And he also
- 58:44Speaker 1: doesn't really seem to be injured in any way, and
- 58:47Speaker 1: it may be that he is and we just don't
- 58:49Speaker 1: see it yet. But yeah, So it ends with him
- 58:55Speaker 1: ostensibly here to free Loofy and Nomy, but he hasn't
- 59:00Speaker 1: done that by the end of the episode, and I'm
- 59:02Speaker 1: not sure if that's really the plan, if he's just
- 59:05Speaker 1: going to free them right here, or if there has
- 59:07Speaker 1: to be something else that they do to get them
- 59:09Speaker 1: out because they're in there because of somebody's devil fruit power,
- 59:12Speaker 1: you know, so I'm not really sure how that works.
- 59:15Speaker 1: I'm not sure how Juinbig got in here. If maybe
- 59:19Speaker 1: he was able to rescue them because he had been
- 59:22Speaker 1: put into this book and then escaped himself, I don't know,
- 59:27Speaker 1: but it ends on him handling that shit. And I'm
- 59:34Speaker 1: glad because like both Loofy and cream Monster, both yell
- 59:38Speaker 1: at and no me to stop being a baby because
- 59:40Speaker 1: she keeps crying. And normally I'd be like, ouch, guys,
- 59:43Speaker 1: but honestly, I was getting kind of sick of her
- 59:44Speaker 1: crying out too. So it's fine. Hopefully we don't have
- 59:47Speaker 1: any more of that. Saraphim says, Brook is over eighty
- 59:54Speaker 1: years old. Big Mom is a young lady compared to him.
- 59:57Speaker 1: I guess he's just never said anything like that to
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: anybody before, though, so it just fell out of character.
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: I don't recall that his age doesn't really come up
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: that much. It's always just about how he's a skeleton
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: and doesn't have various body parts. But uh, yeah, it
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: just felt weird. It felt weird, especially in conjunction with
- 1:00:16Speaker 1: the first part though, which especially made no sense to
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: me anyway. All right, I have to wrap this up,
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: but Thank you guys so much for coming and hanging
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: out with me. Appreciate you very much. Thank you again
- 1:00:29Speaker 1: to Florian for commissioning this episode, and until next time
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: to Loo motherfuckers. That was an unspoiled network podcast.
