- 0:12Hello friends, it's Sean here. It's Thursday.
- 0:16It's the 22nd of February and I hope you are going so well.
- 0:22Me. Oh, thanks for asking.
- 0:24Well, as you sit and while walk, bride, lie however you are and
- 0:30listen to this. I am on retreat in the final
- 0:34days before my ordination. Yeah, that's right.
- 0:38You know, you couple of days I get a day and then become the
- 0:42Reverend Sean. And that is still a terrifying
- 0:45and very unfamiliar concept to me.
- 0:48But this is what happens when we live lives of service.
- 0:52We say God have your way with us and he does so boy, this is
- 0:57where I find myself. So I would appreciate your
- 1:00prayers that that God would continue to shape me and mould
- 1:05me for this service so that this doesn't seem so foreign and
- 1:10uncomfortable, but that I can claim God's call and step
- 1:15forward in faith. That's me.
- 1:19How are you going? I hope you're doing well.
- 1:22I hope you're doing well. And although it feels like we've
- 1:24just boarded the the boat with tickets and headed off to
- 1:28Colossae to share this message from Paul.
- 1:31But friends, it's time to leave. Colossa, today is the last of
- 1:35the four chapters of Colossians. We're going to finish it off
- 1:39today as Paul gives his standard encouragements and greetings to
- 1:45the people of this community. Yeah.
- 1:48To remind us that this ministry is not objective.
- 1:51This ministry is subjective. It is about relationships.
- 1:54It is about love, like we heard in yesterday's reading, and
- 1:58about connecting into God's community.
- 2:01What a great encouragement this is today for us.
- 2:03So let's read it together, shall we?
- 2:05Let's read together Colossians, Chapter 4.
- 2:19Masters be just and fair to your slaves.
- 2:23Remember that you also have a Master in Heaven.
- 2:28Devote yourselves to prayer with an alert mind and a thankful
- 2:32heart. Pray for us too, that God will
- 2:35give us many opportunities to speak about his mysterious plan
- 2:39concerning Christ. That is why I am here in chains.
- 2:45Pray that I will proclaim this message as clearly as I should.
- 2:50Live wisely among those who are not believers and make the most
- 2:54of every opportunity. Let your conversation be
- 2:57gracious and attractive so that you will have the right response
- 3:02for everyone. Tickets will give you a full
- 3:06report about how I'm getting along.
- 3:08He is a beloved brother and faithful helper who serves with
- 3:13me in the Lord's work. I've sent him to you for this
- 3:16very purpose, to let you know how we are doing and to
- 3:21encourage you. I'm also sending an SMS, a
- 3:25faithful and beloved brother, one of your own people.
- 3:28He and Tikus will tell you everything that's happening
- 3:31here. Aristocracy who is in prison
- 3:34with me, sends you his greetings, and so does Mark,
- 3:38Barnabas's cousin. As you were instructed before,
- 3:42make Mark welcome if it comes your way.
- 3:45Jesus the 1:00 we call justice also sends his greetings.
- 3:50These are the only Jewish believers among my coworkers.
- 3:54They are working with me here for the Kingdom of God, and what
- 3:58a comfort they have been. Epaphras, a member of your own
- 4:03fellowship and a servant of Christ, Jesus sends you his
- 4:06greetings. He always prays earnestly for
- 4:10you, asking God to make you strong and perfect, fully
- 4:15confident that you're following the whole will of God.
- 4:19I can assure you that he prays hard for you, and also for the
- 4:23believers and Leo, Decia and Hieropolis.
- 4:27Luke, the beloved Dr, sends his greetings, and so does Demus.
- 4:33Please give my greetings to our brothers and sisters at
- 4:36Laodicea. Enter Nympha and the church that
- 4:40meets in her house. After you have read this letter,
- 4:44pass it on to the church at Laodicea so they can read it
- 4:47too. And you should read the letter I
- 4:50wrote to them and say to Archippus, Be sure to carry out
- 4:54the ministry the Lord gave you. Here is my greeting in my own
- 5:00handwriting poll. Remember my chains.
- 5:06May God's grace be with you and Lord, as Paul writes so
- 5:20earnestly about his community. Lord, we pray for our community
- 5:27that all those with their ears bent to you and their hearts and
- 5:31a posture of prayer, that they would be made strong and
- 5:36perfect, fully confident that they're following your whole
- 5:41will for them in Jesus. Lord, I just pray that you bless
- 5:49all of those praying together, that you hold us close to you,
- 5:54that you grow your spirit in us, that you shape us to be more
- 5:59like you. But most importantly, that our
- 6:03hearts all rest in Jesus and everything that He has done for
- 6:08us and that in Him we are complete and forgiven and Hull
- 6:15and there is nothing else that we need but to rest in
- 6:19everything that Jesus has done for us.
- 6:23Holy Spirit, help that truth so deeply into the foundation of
- 6:29our psyche so that we would never doubt it.
- 6:34I just lift up all of us and place them in your loving care,
- 6:39and it's in your name we pray Jesus.
- 6:42Amen.
