- 0:46Speaker 3: TV one oh four five ESPN Baton Rouge. Here on
- 0:50Speaker 3: this Tuesday morning, Jake Flynn, Olandra Tate. The gang is
- 0:55Speaker 3: all back here together for game week as we continue
- 1:00Speaker 3: to get ready for LSU and Clemson coming up in
- 1:02Speaker 3: Clemson South Carolina Memorial Stadium this weekend.
- 1:07Speaker 5: How we living?
- 1:08Speaker 2: How are we feeling?
- 1:09Speaker 5: Doing great? One day closer, one day more excited.
- 1:14Speaker 6: Taylor did give me the unfortunate news that the forecast
- 1:17Speaker 6: for to Mars three degrees higher.
- 1:18Speaker 5: Than it was as of yesterday. I'm sorry there, so huh.
- 1:23Speaker 2: Here here, okay, right here, And if you're talking about
- 1:26Speaker 2: like the game day.
- 1:27Speaker 5: Yeah, yep.
- 1:28Speaker 6: When I woke up yesterday and stepped out to my car,
- 1:32Speaker 6: it was actually no humidity in the morning. Gave me
- 1:35Speaker 6: a false sense of security. Called that a scoon of
- 1:37Speaker 6: fall bo Yeah, and then it was hotter than hell yesterday,
- 1:42Speaker 6: so and it's going to be the end today. So
- 1:44Speaker 6: excited for the game though, one day closer, like I said, so,
- 1:49Speaker 6: just getting ready, man, getting ready. A lot of excitement
- 1:52Speaker 6: in the NFL, A lot of people getting fired, getting cut,
- 1:56Speaker 6: moving around.
- 1:57Speaker 5: A lot of excitement.
- 1:59Speaker 6: Exciting to wow, it's like the dramatic part of reality
- 2:04Speaker 6: TV shows. They're kind of exciting. I mean, you feel
- 2:07Speaker 6: bad for him. I've been there, been cut many times.
- 2:10Speaker 6: That's why I kind of gives me the permission to
- 2:12Speaker 6: talk about it.
- 2:12Speaker 3: I guess worst experience when you got cut, worst experience
- 2:19Speaker 3: when I am.
- 2:19Speaker 2: The one that you're like.
- 2:21Speaker 3: I didn't like that very much because Green Bay never
- 2:23Speaker 3: cut you right, no, either like a free agent. Let's see,
- 2:27Speaker 3: I got cut with a little bit.
- 2:30Speaker 2: Because Mama was Broncaz. I told the story last.
- 2:32Speaker 5: Week, my first cut one.
- 2:33Speaker 6: I mean it was awesome because I got a cutle
- 2:35Speaker 6: of Raiders. Yes, it was a little bit of a shot,
- 2:39Speaker 6: So it was a little bit like emotional, got like
- 2:41Speaker 6: a little bit like a little dust in my eye
- 2:43Speaker 6: just because like I'd never been cut before. Yeah, but
- 2:47Speaker 6: I was also excited at the opportunity to leave Oakland
- 2:51Speaker 6: because a lot of it's like it's it's the black hole,
- 2:54Speaker 6: like like a lot of times people don't people don't go,
- 2:58Speaker 6: people don't get out of there. Right, It's like where
- 3:00Speaker 6: a lot of careers go to die. Let's see, I
- 3:02Speaker 6: got cut from Buffalo, but I knew that was coming
- 3:06Speaker 6: because they told me once ej Manuel got healthy, I
- 3:09Speaker 6: was gonna, you know, be cheapped.
- 3:11Speaker 5: Yeah, and I was.
- 3:13Speaker 6: But the one that stings the most, and I've talked
- 3:15Speaker 6: about it, is the one where I got cut from
- 3:17Speaker 6: the Jets in twenty fifteen when they had pretty they
- 3:20Speaker 6: verbally guaranteed me a spot on the team for three weeks.
- 3:24Speaker 6: Just three weeks is what you need for a vested season. Yeah.
- 3:28Speaker 6: And and my wife was nine months pregnant with our
- 3:31Speaker 6: first child, and I left her to go be on
- 3:35Speaker 6: said team because of the guarantees.
- 3:38Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 3:38Speaker 6: And uh, they cut me after the night before I
- 3:42Speaker 6: threw for two tutters and two hundred in the first half.
- 3:45Speaker 5: Then they cut me like a bunch of losers.
- 3:49Speaker 6: And guess what, Yeah, the organization has been cursed ever
- 3:52Speaker 6: since I have.
- 3:53Speaker 5: You know, they have your reap.
- 3:55Speaker 2: What you sow and you ended up in Green.
- 3:58Speaker 5: Bay that year, no with the Saints.
- 4:00Speaker 3: Oh okay, yeah, and then you just faded off into
- 4:04Speaker 3: the sunset.
- 4:05Speaker 6: I got cut from New England as well. I was
- 4:06Speaker 6: pretty fired up about that.
- 4:07Speaker 3: One too, a Landra Tate. Have you ever been released
- 4:12Speaker 3: cut from a team?
- 4:14Speaker 7: Not that I can think.
- 4:15Speaker 2: I made the varsity team.
- 4:17Speaker 7: M hmm, Wait why you didn't like New New England
- 4:20Speaker 7: or what?
- 4:24Speaker 6: At that At that point in my career, I wasn't ready.
- 4:30Speaker 6: I don't know if I was real ready to be
- 4:31Speaker 6: coached that hard in New England. Yeah, I mean it
- 4:34Speaker 6: was year eight. I didn't love football at the time,
- 4:37Speaker 6: like I'd lost kind of like my love for it
- 4:39Speaker 6: by that point. It was one of those things like
- 4:42Speaker 6: I didn't know I was gonna play. I didn't think
- 4:43Speaker 6: I was gonna play, and I was. We were on
- 4:45Speaker 6: a trip, me and my wife were overseas. We were
- 4:47Speaker 6: in Italy, like drinking winey pasta, and I got a call,
- 4:50Speaker 6: like day six of our vacation from an agent like, hey,
- 4:54Speaker 6: Patriots want you to work out. Tom Brady just got
- 4:57Speaker 6: suspended for deflate Gate. He's gonna be out four so,
- 5:02Speaker 6: like they need a quarterback.
- 5:03Speaker 5: They got all.
- 5:03Speaker 6: They got to Garoppolo, who's a rookie, and I'm like,
- 5:06Speaker 6: all right, well, like I'm I'm kind of like two
- 5:10Speaker 6: or three bottles in right now and about six days
- 5:13Speaker 6: of pastave be in my gut and my gut like
- 5:17Speaker 6: I guess. But they got to like, I'm not done,
- 5:19Speaker 6: like I'm leaving in two days. I'll be back in
- 5:21Speaker 6: two days. Like all right, that'll wait, that's fine. But anyway,
- 5:24Speaker 6: like at that point, I didn't really know if I
- 5:26Speaker 6: was gonna play, and I was what's the what's uh
- 5:29Speaker 6: Belichick's philosophy was on their documentary they have I don't know,
- 5:33Speaker 6: some slogan that they had. I just wasn't ready for it.
- 5:36Speaker 6: Patriot way, the Patriot way. I wasn't ready for the Patriotway.
- 5:40Speaker 2: Understand.
- 5:41Speaker 5: I wasn't.
- 5:42Speaker 2: Oh, I wasn't real ready to be coached that hard.
- 5:45Speaker 3: Yeah, if we're gonna be real, somebody that somebody that
- 5:51Speaker 3: played for Sabing and Jimbo, I think you could have
- 5:54Speaker 3: handled it.
- 5:54Speaker 5: Oh, I definitely could have handled it. Like I did
- 5:56Speaker 5: you want to just like I didn't. I didn't.
- 6:00Speaker 6: I didn't want it. I didn't want it bad enough,
- 6:03Speaker 6: but I did. I pop my hamstring, like I'm leading
- 6:06Speaker 6: up to. Like two weeks before training camp started, I
- 6:09Speaker 6: was training at LSU, getting warmed up because they have
- 6:12Speaker 6: a conditioning test in New England. Oh yeah, we didn't.
- 6:14Speaker 6: I never had a conditioning test anywhere else.
- 6:16Speaker 2: It would like a run last year in Sand I.
- 6:18Speaker 5: Think it was fifties.
- 6:19Speaker 2: You had to run like twenty fifty, so we were
- 6:20Speaker 2: we were twenty fifties.
- 6:21Speaker 6: And I was training for that and I pop my hamstring,
- 6:24Speaker 6: which is kind of I think you're fast enough to
- 6:26Speaker 6: do that.
- 6:28Speaker 5: That's pretty tight. Okay, yeah, all right, a launder? How
- 6:32Speaker 5: was you? It was real hump.
- 6:34Speaker 7: My trip was good, quick but nice, little refresh before
- 6:39Speaker 7: all season. I flew. Yeah, it's just so much quicker
- 6:43Speaker 7: and uh yeah, it was good. But I'm very excited
- 6:45Speaker 7: for week one. I feel it. It's in the air,
- 6:49Speaker 7: so I'm excited.
- 6:50Speaker 2: Did y'all watch week zero at the bar?
- 6:53Speaker 7: We did watch some Week zero, It wasn't at the
- 6:55Speaker 7: bar because it was a lot.
- 6:56Speaker 3: Yeah, sorry, that's a step two. Not open yet, but
- 7:01Speaker 3: well you don't have to be open when you Yeah, but.
- 7:04Speaker 7: No, we did take it in but not at the bar.
- 7:07Speaker 7: But had a good weekend yeah.
- 7:08Speaker 3: It was great, awesome, And now we're here to December.
- 7:13Speaker 3: How are we doing the grass yesterday?
- 7:16Speaker 4: Uh?
- 7:16Speaker 5: No, tomorrow.
- 7:18Speaker 8: I got it all scheduled ready to go.
- 7:20Speaker 7: This weekend today working in the yard.
- 7:23Speaker 5: I thought you did this past.
- 7:24Speaker 8: Yeah, it wasn't. We had a company coming over on Sunday.
- 7:27Speaker 8: I had to like.
- 7:28Speaker 2: We had.
- 7:30Speaker 9: We did, and Victoria was like, well it was also
- 7:33Speaker 9: my side of the family. And Victoria's like, all right,
- 7:35Speaker 9: you volunteered the host who cleaned the outside.
- 7:38Speaker 8: I was like, yes, ma'am, let me get right too.
- 7:41Speaker 5: So went out there.
- 7:42Speaker 9: It was more like blowing off the driveway like crap
- 7:45Speaker 9: like that were cutting on Wednesday.
- 7:47Speaker 6: So is that you're when when y'all have to clean
- 7:50Speaker 6: up the house? Okay, that's fair, and I prefer it
- 7:54Speaker 6: that way. Inside stuff, I get distracted. There might be
- 7:58Speaker 6: something cool on the TV. And yeah, outside I can
- 8:01Speaker 6: really just lock in.
- 8:02Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 8:02Speaker 6: I got a pretty hard and fast rule that, like
- 8:04Speaker 6: I like to be outside and work and do yard
- 8:07Speaker 6: work and like do that stuff. I got a pretty
- 8:09Speaker 6: hard rule like I don't do it during the summer.
- 8:11Speaker 6: I ain't going outside not doing it. Sorry, it's outside,
- 8:15Speaker 6: it's gonna look like crud. Not gonna go pick up sticks,
- 8:23Speaker 6: not gonna pressure wash. I'll do that when when fall
- 8:26Speaker 6: hits though, it's gonna be looking beautiful out there.
- 8:32Speaker 3: One thing we forgot to cover yesterday and do apologize.
- 8:38Speaker 3: Nichols beat Carnate Word all right, twenty to six.
- 8:42Speaker 8: Cardf Word was like fourth in the country.
- 8:44Speaker 3: Yeah, and they were, Yeah, and they were a pretty
- 8:51Speaker 3: big dog if I'm not mistaken in this game as well.
- 8:53Speaker 3: So a big win for Nickels. Shout out to them.
- 8:56Speaker 3: O Southern didn't have the same fortune. They lost two
- 9:00Speaker 3: North Carolina Central thirty one to fourteen. Trey Holly did
- 9:04Speaker 3: have an eighty yard touchdown run, now, all right, that
- 9:07Speaker 3: was certainly a highlight in that game. So a couple
- 9:09Speaker 3: of local schools I did play in week zero that
- 9:13Speaker 3: I forgot to recap on yesterday, that's all.
- 9:16Speaker 5: Hey, that's right here, just.
- 9:20Speaker 2: I mean I was.
- 9:21Speaker 6: Are they hydrated a little bit?
- 9:27Speaker 3: Hydrated a little bit? They dabble, They dabble and hydrated.
- 9:31Speaker 6: We kind of need to get the boosters and stuff
- 9:32Speaker 6: up a little bit more over there, right all right.
- 9:35Speaker 2: Bo a bear, where are we at? Bruh, let's go
- 9:38Speaker 2: both man.
- 9:41Speaker 7: That's a big win though, so also, yeah, that's awesome.
- 9:43Speaker 7: Real quick, y'all were here last week when Bunny Cannon
- 9:47Speaker 7: and y'alle came in. Yeah, okay, so they are doing
- 9:50Speaker 7: a podcast called Blitzen Bling but hear me out, it's
- 9:54Speaker 7: actually not very blitzy minus the blinged out football. Is
- 9:59Speaker 7: that Bunny brought in? They're awesome. Yeah, she said she
- 10:02Speaker 7: was gonna bring us out a helmet, but the first
- 10:05Speaker 7: episode dropped yesterday and they're just gonna be interviewing a
- 10:08Speaker 7: bunch of people from behind the scenes of LSU football.
- 10:11Speaker 7: They've been around the program for forty years and it's
- 10:15Speaker 7: gonna be awesome. Like they they even the first episode
- 10:19Speaker 7: was really good and it was just the two of them,
- 10:20Speaker 7: and then there's gonna be another one that drops on Thursday.
- 10:23Speaker 7: But we already have them in the can, like Eddie
- 10:25Speaker 7: Kennison came in, Michael Bonnett, Sam Nator came into, so
- 10:30Speaker 7: it's gonna be great.
- 10:32Speaker 2: We got Vinner in Chad a Hoche Room nine o'clock
- 10:36Speaker 2: Curfew love Sam.
- 10:38Speaker 7: Nator, So yeah, it's gonna be awesome. If y'all want
- 10:40Speaker 7: to check it out for LSU football history of people,
- 10:46Speaker 7: what are you laughing at Are.
- 10:48Speaker 2: You laughing at the rebos retired?
- 10:50Speaker 6: Ye, that's all. Maybe when that happened, it wasn't that
- 10:58Speaker 6: long ago. To make sure, yeah, it wasn't that long ago.
- 11:00Speaker 6: Couldn't have been.
- 11:01Speaker 2: Shout out to Blake Miller said.
- 11:02Speaker 3: He showed his son some highlights of us in the
- 11:06Speaker 3: car line, and his seven year old said, Dad, I
- 11:09Speaker 3: don't want to play flag football anymore.
- 11:11Speaker 2: That's right, baby, that's right, yeah, dad? Why is it
- 11:14Speaker 2: so blurry?
- 11:14Speaker 5: Whoa?
- 11:16Speaker 3: We're just talking about the content, like what happened in it,
- 11:19Speaker 3: not the quality of its. Shout out now, I keep
- 11:24Speaker 3: playing flag it's great. Yeah, but when you lower your
- 11:28Speaker 3: head and you can truck somebody.
- 11:29Speaker 5: It's better.
- 11:31Speaker 6: When you get to wear red jersey practice.
- 11:36Speaker 3: All right, we will take our first break up the show,
- 11:39Speaker 3: and when we come back there was some as Flynn
- 11:43Speaker 3: put it, he was excited about it.
- 11:44Speaker 2: Some cuts in the NFL.
- 11:45Speaker 3: Will tell you what that means for the New Orleans
- 11:47Speaker 3: Saints when we come back here on OTV.
- 11:50Speaker 4: Off the bench right.

- 13:19Speaker 8: In a few weeks, I will get time realize.
- 13:23Speaker 4: It's right before mine and I can take it. It
- 13:28Speaker 4: fits well to.
- 13:32Speaker 3: Do, all right, Welcome back to gh O TV one,
- 13:36Speaker 3: O four five, ESPN, Baton Rouge, shout out to Andrew
- 13:40Speaker 3: and something about you four chat. I don't think I've
- 13:41Speaker 3: ever come on this show and they are talking about sports.
- 13:45Speaker 2: Chances are you probably never will, but I will say.
- 13:49Speaker 3: Segment the first segment for rous for us, it was
- 13:52Speaker 3: real sportsy.
- 13:53Speaker 7: For the first second, I say, we literally talked about
- 13:55Speaker 7: Nichols and Southern.
- 13:56Speaker 3: And we talked about Flynn getting released and me getting released. Yeah,
- 14:00Speaker 3: sports related, it.
- 14:01Speaker 8: Was more different sports topics.
- 14:02Speaker 3: Yes, it was from NFL teams zero like.
- 14:07Speaker 6: I got released from the Patriots, who famously play a sport.
- 14:11Speaker 9: I think FUS NFL teams were brought up in one
- 14:14Speaker 9: Sea college team.
- 14:16Speaker 5: Some might tell us to show out a little bit.
- 14:18Speaker 3: He talked about Tom Brady and deflating his balls and
- 14:21Speaker 3: getting suspended.
- 14:24Speaker 5: Mm hmm.
- 14:25Speaker 6: By the way, I think everybody, let's a little layer
- 14:29Speaker 6: out right.
- 14:33Speaker 9: If they don't win that game forty five to seven,
- 14:36Speaker 9: nobody cares that's right.
- 14:38Speaker 2: In this show is less sports than when T Bob
- 14:40Speaker 2: was here. To be honest, I.
- 14:42Speaker 7: Just don't think that's true.
- 14:47Speaker 5: Jim the sports sports.
- 14:53Speaker 3: All right, all right, here we go, fine, here, we're
- 14:57Speaker 3: about to talk Saints, rob about to start.
- 14:59Speaker 5: We are right.
- 15:00Speaker 2: Really only one move that moved the needle.
- 15:03Speaker 3: I think only one that was going to be something
- 15:06Speaker 3: that we discuss here. But as Tata has pointed out,
- 15:10Speaker 3: Louisiansports dot Net did a great job of kind of
- 15:13Speaker 3: keeping you up to date with all the latest and
- 15:15Speaker 3: the greatest with the New Orleans Saints, Tata, including the
- 15:18Speaker 3: roster decisions made by the Saints.
- 15:20Speaker 9: Yeah, so they released cam Acres and that's, of course
- 15:23Speaker 9: the one you're saying, you know, that'll move the need alwa,
- 15:26Speaker 9: He's a veteran. He's been in a lot of big
- 15:28Speaker 9: time games. The one I'm looking at though, is actually
- 15:30Speaker 9: punter James burn Up. Now, normally that wouldn't sound like
- 15:33Speaker 9: a big deal. The Saints have now decided on their
- 15:36Speaker 9: starting punter because he was in a punter battle, So
- 15:38Speaker 9: ky Kroger apparently has won that job since they have
- 15:41Speaker 9: waved James Burnup. Then there's a couple receivers, Mouchie Dixon
- 15:45Speaker 9: got waved, Roderick Daniels, handful of d linemen got waived.
- 15:51Speaker 9: Outside of that, I mean, you know it's a couple
- 15:54Speaker 9: UDFA tight ends and stuff like that. But James burn
- 15:56Speaker 9: Up and Cam Acres those are big for me because
- 15:59Speaker 9: you needed to cut down on that running back room.
- 16:02Speaker 9: You had a lot of talent, a lot of bodies,
- 16:04Speaker 9: and now your special teams has figured out a little
- 16:06Speaker 9: bit as well.
- 16:07Speaker 3: I think the camp Makers news is big because early
- 16:11Speaker 3: in the preseason, like it was Kendre Miller, then it
- 16:14Speaker 3: was Cam Akers, and then you started to see a
- 16:17Speaker 3: shift and then Clyde Edwards Lair had a good game
- 16:20Speaker 3: in the second preseason game and then he moved ahead
- 16:22Speaker 3: of camp Makers on the depth chart there.
- 16:25Speaker 2: So I do think that is Look, it's good news
- 16:27Speaker 2: for Clyde.
- 16:28Speaker 3: I think now nothing's guaranteed, but with it being ak,
- 16:31Speaker 3: Kendre Miller, Clyde, and then you start, okay, is Devin
- 16:36Speaker 3: Neil going.
- 16:37Speaker 2: To make this team?
- 16:38Speaker 3: It was a sixth round pick. Certainly nothing's guaranteed with
- 16:41Speaker 3: a sixth round pick. Jones is going to be the
- 16:44Speaker 3: Jones guy, Like he's going to make the team as
- 16:46Speaker 3: a special teamer, right ta Tammy. We all assumed like
- 16:48Speaker 3: that's gonna be his role.
- 16:49Speaker 9: I would imagine him or Marcus Jarns, like Yarns has
- 16:52Speaker 9: a shot at special teams as well.
- 16:53Speaker 3: Well, I say Jones because when you look at Okay,
- 16:56Speaker 3: so Ak's not playing special teams. I hadn't seen Kendre
- 16:59Speaker 3: Miller play special teams, and Clyde doesn't play special teams.
- 17:02Speaker 3: The running back position and Flynn you know this, like
- 17:05Speaker 3: it's gonna be one where typically your second and third
- 17:08Speaker 3: running back or like core special teams guys.
- 17:10Speaker 6: And so if you hear that, guys, yeah, it's where
- 17:12Speaker 6: that ken Dre doesn't play. Yeah, it doesn't play anything
- 17:16Speaker 6: at all. I mean you obviously you don't want him
- 17:19Speaker 6: doing anything. But yeah, I don't know if I was
- 17:23Speaker 6: ever on a team that didn't have the second and
- 17:25Speaker 6: third running back like yeah four yeah.
- 17:28Speaker 3: Yeah uh Now you know you could have a returner
- 17:32Speaker 3: like when we were with Sprolls, like he was a
- 17:34Speaker 3: second running back, but he was the main return punt
- 17:36Speaker 3: returner returner. So yeah, but like me and Mike Tolbert,
- 17:40Speaker 3: like we were a core.
- 17:41Speaker 6: Four outside of a quarterback, there's not many twos and
- 17:44Speaker 6: threes that aren't making the team at least a little
- 17:48Speaker 6: bit because of special teams as well.
- 17:50Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean, I.
- 17:51Speaker 6: Guess, I guess running back, you're you're kind of a
- 17:53Speaker 6: little bit of a specialist, but you're there's there's some
- 17:55Speaker 6: position that you can help with, which so it's a
- 17:57Speaker 6: little surprising that you got you're talking about it up
- 18:00Speaker 6: three right there.
- 18:01Speaker 5: I don't really have a big role, that's so.
- 18:04Speaker 6: Yeah, because I mean, right now, there are a lot
- 18:09Speaker 6: of cuts being made today and a lot of decisions
- 18:12Speaker 6: being made, and you know who's going to have the
- 18:14Speaker 6: final say on a lot of these decisions is a
- 18:16Speaker 6: special teams coordinator.
- 18:17Speaker 5: Yep.
- 18:18Speaker 6: He's like, nope, that's the guy I need right there.
- 18:20Speaker 6: Wide receiver coach says, hey, special teams coordinator, who do
- 18:24Speaker 6: you want?
- 18:25Speaker 3: I got two guys right here. Pick your guys what
- 18:27Speaker 3: you want? Which one can help you on Sundays on teams?
- 18:30Speaker 6: Yep, because I got I got, I got, I got
- 18:32Speaker 6: two bubble guys right here. And same with the linebacker,
- 18:35Speaker 6: same with the safety, same with the corners, every position
- 18:37Speaker 6: group right now, there is a decision of fifty to
- 18:41Speaker 6: fifty coin flip decision being made on guys, and the
- 18:44Speaker 6: special teams coordinator is the deciding factor on a lot
- 18:46Speaker 6: of these things.
- 18:47Speaker 5: Yep.
- 18:48Speaker 2: How many receivers do we think the Saints keep?
- 18:50Speaker 8: I think they keep five. For six, I'll say six.
- 18:56Speaker 2: Okay, you think six?
- 18:58Speaker 5: Six?
- 18:59Speaker 2: Who's it going to be?
- 19:00Speaker 8: Kevin Austin Junior's probably out?
- 19:02Speaker 3: I would imagine is Cedric Wilson the other one gives
- 19:06Speaker 3: you returnability?
- 19:07Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 19:07Speaker 8: Wilson or Pettison? Yeah, Pettison.
- 19:09Speaker 3: I don't look, I don't think you want Rashid Shaheed
- 19:11Speaker 3: back there as your returner, Like he's been injured too much.
- 19:14Speaker 3: He's dynamic at it, he's great at it, but I
- 19:17Speaker 3: don't think you want him back there.
- 19:18Speaker 2: So is Pettis going to be your returner?
- 19:20Speaker 3: Because I think we all agreed that Mason Tipton is
- 19:22Speaker 3: going to make this team, right.
- 19:23Speaker 8: Yeah, you just traded for vele He's on the team,
- 19:28Speaker 8: didn't getting cut? Yeah? And then your top three Olave
- 19:30Speaker 8: Cooks and Shaheed.
- 19:31Speaker 5: Brand Brandon didn't play that great in the preseason. But
- 19:33Speaker 5: I mean who else?
- 19:34Speaker 8: I mean, you paid another option?
- 19:37Speaker 3: Right, you don't go trade for a receiver and give
- 19:39Speaker 3: a fourth round pick though, if like you felt great
- 19:41Speaker 3: about where Brandon Cooks is.
- 19:43Speaker 6: Yeah, he got he had a tiny route thrown in
- 19:45Speaker 6: this past week. It was a really bad route and
- 19:46Speaker 6: it was incomplete. Yeah, it was like a you know,
- 19:48Speaker 6: throw before he breaks type of route, didn't protect the ball.
- 19:51Speaker 6: Then it wasn't great, But I didn't see all his reps.
- 19:54Speaker 6: I just remember that stuck out because the ball went
- 19:55Speaker 6: to him and it was it was just a very
- 19:57Speaker 6: It was a poorly run route but not a lot
- 20:01Speaker 6: of depth.
- 20:01Speaker 5: So of course you're keeping them.
- 20:06Speaker 2: Well sign yeah, yeah, you sign him to a deal.
- 20:08Speaker 3: But again, can we get back to the same conversation too,
- 20:11Speaker 3: Like you got to have some guys that can do
- 20:13Speaker 3: multiple things, and so if we're trying to figure out
- 20:15Speaker 3: who's going to be that last receiver on the roster,
- 20:18Speaker 3: like Cedric Wilson and Kevin Austin Junior don't have the
- 20:21Speaker 3: return ability that Dante Pettis has, and Dante Pettis can
- 20:25Speaker 3: even be a gunner on special teams. So like to
- 20:29Speaker 3: our point, that's what these conversations are, Like, Hey, we're
- 20:32Speaker 3: gonna keep four running backs, all right, We've got five
- 20:35Speaker 3: that we feel good about. Hey, Rich Bassachia special teams coordinator,
- 20:40Speaker 3: which one do you want? And he gets to the
- 20:41Speaker 3: final say, and so like when you look at the
- 20:44Speaker 3: Samet's receiver room, like that's gonna be a conversation, the
- 20:46Speaker 3: running back room, that's gonna be a conversation. The tight
- 20:49Speaker 3: end room right now because you've got you know, Falster
- 20:53Speaker 3: Morrow is going to be out for a couple more
- 20:55Speaker 3: weeks you would assume, and then the Taysom Hills situation,
- 20:58Speaker 3: you don't really know which way that's going to go.
- 21:00Speaker 3: Like the tight end room, like which one of those
- 21:02Speaker 3: players do you keep? Because actually when you go back
- 21:05Speaker 3: and you watch the tape and you grade the game,
- 21:07Speaker 3: this tight end group doesn't have a lot of names,
- 21:10Speaker 3: but they've actually played pretty well, especially the last preseason game.
- 21:15Speaker 5: Yeah, they have.
- 21:16Speaker 6: Like I've I've been out pretty Johnson's probably been the
- 21:19Speaker 6: worst of the group, right, I've been impressed with a
- 21:21Speaker 6: tight end group. You know, they had the big catch
- 21:24Speaker 6: when when Schuck was starting in the game two.
- 21:27Speaker 4: I.
- 21:29Speaker 6: There was we didn't talk about the tight ends a lot,
- 21:31Speaker 6: which is a good thing at that position. Like you
- 21:34Speaker 6: especially in a game that you're on a three games
- 21:37Speaker 6: where you're not scored a touchdown in the first half.
- 21:39Speaker 6: So they didn't flash like in the end zone or anything.
- 21:42Speaker 6: Of course as tight ends, but like we didn't talk
- 21:43Speaker 6: about them a lot, so they didn't have many miss blocks,
- 21:45Speaker 6: missed assignments, they didn't anything do anything that looked inherently bad.
- 21:49Speaker 6: I thought that the tight end group actually played pretty good.
- 21:53Speaker 6: But like you said, there's a lot of decisions coming
- 21:55Speaker 6: down today, and there's going to be a final roster
- 21:58Speaker 6: that is that is announce but then there's going to
- 22:01Speaker 6: be the real final roster a couple of days after that,
- 22:04Speaker 6: after decisions starts to be made, when other teams start
- 22:07Speaker 6: making their cuts. This is when the scouts all of
- 22:10Speaker 6: their preparation and binders that they have. I mean every
- 22:15Speaker 6: scouting department and every team has a binder on every
- 22:18Speaker 6: single player college and pros.
- 22:20Speaker 5: And this is when network starts to come and play.
- 22:22Speaker 6: When you get guys wide receivers, running backs, defensive tackles,
- 22:26Speaker 6: especially how about offensive linemen. They are going to be
- 22:29Speaker 6: watching the waiver wire hard this week for offensive lineman
- 22:33Speaker 6: and every position as well, just to see is there
- 22:36Speaker 6: upgrades that we can make. Okay, we got this guy,
- 22:38Speaker 6: we got this number four outside linebacker, good player, but
- 22:42Speaker 6: is there an upgrade that we can make based on
- 22:45Speaker 6: our scouting of all the other players in the NFL.
- 22:49Speaker 5: So there's gonna be a.
- 22:50Speaker 3: Final a candidate to pick up like four or five
- 22:54Speaker 3: a lot players from that situation.
- 22:57Speaker 6: They have to be active, yeah, I mean, especially with
- 23:00Speaker 6: all the injuries they sustain at the offensive line, they
- 23:02Speaker 6: have to go out and get some offensive linemen. I mean,
- 23:05Speaker 6: notably Lyle Collins.
- 23:06Speaker 5: Is just released. Yeah, so I mean, I know there's
- 23:09Speaker 5: a little experience there. I think he played with Kellen Moore.
- 23:12Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 23:12Speaker 3: I mean, yeah, yeah, he played with kell Moore in Dallas,
- 23:15Speaker 3: so you know Kellen's watched these ruiz for three games. Now. Yeah,
- 23:21Speaker 3: there's it can't be worse, no, I mean, I mean
- 23:23Speaker 3: that's not that is not trying to be funny. That
- 23:26Speaker 3: is just much in the tape put on the tape situation.
- 23:30Speaker 6: I mean, it's an NFL football player who's performed very poorly.
- 23:36Speaker 6: You have other NFL football players that are getting released
- 23:38Speaker 6: as well, So at that point, it is a I'm
- 23:41Speaker 6: going to compare that tape that they had with the
- 23:44Speaker 6: team that they just got released from to your tape
- 23:46Speaker 6: on my team and see what can happen and see
- 23:51Speaker 6: which one we're gonna wave these out. And look, and
- 23:53Speaker 6: you've been victim of this too. You make the final
- 23:56Speaker 6: roster and then two or three days later you don't
- 23:59Speaker 6: make the fun on a roster. You see it every year,
- 24:01Speaker 6: there's guys, there's three, four or five guys that feel
- 24:03Speaker 6: really comfortable and they're excited. They go pop the champagne
- 24:06Speaker 6: when they've made that final cut, and a couple couple
- 24:09Speaker 6: of days later, there's some roster moves because of numbers.
- 24:12Speaker 6: Somebody gets injured, suspended, suspended.
- 24:19Speaker 3: You're right, and I think the Saints will have the
- 24:20Speaker 3: whatever the highest number is. I bet the Saints are
- 24:23Speaker 3: a top that list.
- 24:24Speaker 5: They have to be.
- 24:25Speaker 2: Yeah, I agree with you. They need a lot and
- 24:27Speaker 2: some key positions, even if it's just for depth.
- 24:30Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 24:30Speaker 6: So today is going to be a big, big day
- 24:32Speaker 6: to watch the waiver wire, watch the news coming out
- 24:35Speaker 6: of different teams and kind of the live tracker throughout
- 24:40Speaker 6: the league on what what people are going to become available,
- 24:43Speaker 6: because there's gonna be some surprise cuts everywhere. Oh yeah,
- 24:45Speaker 6: there's gonna be guys like, oh he's available, all right,
- 24:48Speaker 6: Well let's go, let's go throw a hat in the
- 24:49Speaker 6: ring for that guy. So it'll be interesting to see.
- 24:52Speaker 6: This is this is where football is super interesting when
- 24:56Speaker 6: it starts getting to cuts and resigns and free agency
- 25:00Speaker 6: and negotiating.
- 25:03Speaker 2: Trades, a lot of trades.
- 25:05Speaker 3: All right, we will take a break and we'll get
- 25:10Speaker 3: to the LSU Tigers as they travel to Clemson, South
- 25:14Speaker 3: Carolina to take on the other Tigers. When we come back, Daniel,
- 25:18Speaker 3: great post here. You think Ruiz forgot you were supposed
- 25:20Speaker 3: to get in their way?
- 25:23Speaker 5: Hmmm?
- 25:24Speaker 6: I think, uh, you see, see, like there's these other
- 25:30Speaker 6: guys across the ball. They got a different color helmet.
- 25:34Speaker 6: Now they're going to try to tackle your quarterback or
- 25:36Speaker 6: you're running back. You got to stop them. He forgot.
- 25:38Speaker 6: That's like the basics. I think that's day one of
- 25:41Speaker 6: training camp. I don't know why it has a country.
- 25:45Speaker 6: They played a Michigan.
- 25:46Speaker 3: Probably not Well that was a coach speaking to Oh, okay,
- 25:49Speaker 3: all right, yeah, so you want me to kick slide
- 25:53Speaker 3: and use the technique I've learned my whole life instead
- 25:55Speaker 3: of just shuffling up here and looking the wrong way. O.
- 26:00Speaker 5: Wait, what if it doesn't make any ain't doing that?
- 26:03Speaker 5: Can you do?
- 26:04Speaker 7: It?
- 26:04Speaker 5: Won't do it.
- 26:04Speaker 6: Wait, you know you want me to block the two
- 26:07Speaker 6: undred and twenty pound guy instead of this three d
- 26:09Speaker 6: and twenty pound guy in front of me.
- 26:11Speaker 5: I'll do it. Yep.
- 26:12Speaker 2: I'll take these and I'll do it every time.
- 26:14Speaker 5: All right, we'll take you almost block them.
- 26:16Speaker 3: Lsu Clemson talk when we come back here one of
- 26:19Speaker 3: four five ESPN ben.

- 28:36Speaker 3: to five four.
- 28:37Speaker 2: G D Wood.
- 28:40Speaker 3: All Right, The LSU Tigers, as we all know, heading
- 28:43Speaker 3: to Clemson South Carolina this weekend to take on the
- 28:47Speaker 3: other Tigers, and Brian Kelly said he expects everyone available
- 28:52Speaker 3: for the matchup, the primetime on the marquee matchup on
- 28:57Speaker 3: the road, and so that is a very good thing.
- 29:00Speaker 3: Matthew held up, who is all stitched back and ready
- 29:05Speaker 3: to go. But I mean, very few times do you
- 29:08Speaker 3: have a team that comes out of training camp fully healthy.
- 29:12Speaker 3: So this is a big deal. Like, and you've got
- 29:16Speaker 3: a lot of positions that have death, but you have
- 29:19Speaker 3: some that don't have depth. And so the fact that
- 29:21Speaker 3: you are right now fully healthy, ready to like running
- 29:24Speaker 3: back comes to mind, Like because right now JT. Lindsay
- 29:29Speaker 3: not with the team because you've you know, you've only
- 29:33Speaker 3: got what three scholarship running backs and you got Juwan
- 29:36Speaker 3: Johnson who can kind of play it a little bit.
- 29:39Speaker 3: It's kind of a wild card is going to play
- 29:41Speaker 3: some wildcat quarterback and kind of line up all over
- 29:44Speaker 3: the place. But I'm just sitting here thinking, like, what
- 29:46Speaker 3: if one of those backs would have got hurt you,
- 29:48Speaker 3: you would be incredibly thin at that position. I mean
- 29:51Speaker 3: you are not deep. You've got Caden Durham, You've got
- 29:54Speaker 3: Caleb Jackson, and you've got Barry as a true freshman.
- 29:57Speaker 3: Right now, it's true running backs on this team. And
- 29:59Speaker 3: so like if you would have gone into camp and
- 30:01Speaker 3: all of a sudden, you know, Caleb Jackson pulls a hamstring,
- 30:04Speaker 3: you would have had two scholarship running backs. And so
- 30:07Speaker 3: this is good news for LSU that they are going
- 30:09Speaker 3: to go on this road trip fully healthy.
- 30:13Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean anytime you can. I mean week one
- 30:16Speaker 6: is the healthiest your team's going to be all season.
- 30:20Speaker 5: Uh.
- 30:20Speaker 6: And it's not like back back in the olden days
- 30:23Speaker 6: where you after the season, you'd get a month off
- 30:26Speaker 6: before a bowl game like then that's and at that
- 30:28Speaker 6: point you'd help you were healthy again. Yeah, so to
- 30:33Speaker 6: start off with no serious injuries in training camp is
- 30:37Speaker 6: a big deal.
- 30:37Speaker 5: Now.
- 30:38Speaker 6: Fran Kelly ran a training camp that was very conducive
- 30:42Speaker 6: to keeping bodies fresh and keeping bodies healthy, and it
- 30:45Speaker 6: has proven to work. Now we now we just got
- 30:48Speaker 6: to make sure that are the are they as calloused,
- 30:51Speaker 6: are they as in shape as they need to be,
- 30:52Speaker 6: and things like that, because we know that they ran
- 30:54Speaker 6: more of an NFL type training camp, which is great
- 30:56Speaker 6: because again, like we're going in a week one completely healthy. Right,
- 31:00Speaker 6: there's this fine balance that coach has to juggle of, like, hey,
- 31:03Speaker 6: I want to keep my guys healthy.
- 31:04Speaker 5: Uh, we don't need to be bear Brian out here.
- 31:06Speaker 5: It's not the junction boys.
- 31:07Speaker 2: Yeah, but I wanted to go through a little suck.
- 31:09Speaker 6: But yeah, you got to go through some suck. You
- 31:11Speaker 6: got to go through that, that mental exhaustion, that mental toughness,
- 31:14Speaker 6: that mental grind. That's where you kind of like gel
- 31:16Speaker 6: as a team and become a team and whole. So
- 31:19Speaker 6: you know, we we hope because we didn't see every practice.
- 31:22Speaker 6: I know the media got to go to a lot
- 31:23Speaker 6: of things, but you didn't get to see everything. I know,
- 31:25Speaker 6: the prices we went to, we were like, wo that
- 31:27Speaker 6: was it? Like sober, they're calling it up. They're one, two,
- 31:32Speaker 6: three tigers. So you just hope that that they struck
- 31:36Speaker 6: that balance right of keeping everybody healthy. But you know what,
- 31:39Speaker 6: we're also in incredible shape. We're calloused, we're ready to hit,
- 31:43Speaker 6: and we're ready to roll. So but like health, you know,
- 31:46Speaker 6: you can't make the club in the tub, certainly as
- 31:49Speaker 6: a as a player. And can't win a lot of games,
- 31:52Speaker 6: especially big games on the road, with a lot of injuries. Yeah,
- 31:55Speaker 6: so we don't have that problem. So let's just say
- 31:58Speaker 6: we're ready to pun somebody in.
- 32:01Speaker 3: So one of the things that certainly grabbed headlines from
- 32:05Speaker 3: Brian Kelly yesterday was talking about that they anticipate playing
- 32:09Speaker 3: more than just five offensive linemen. He said, you'll see
- 32:12Speaker 3: at least six or seven, could be as many as
- 32:15Speaker 3: eight offensive linemen playing for US. Now Clemson is in
- 32:19Speaker 3: kind of the same situation. You're not going to just
- 32:21Speaker 3: see five offensive linemen for Clemson. They're going to rotate
- 32:24Speaker 3: multiple It could be six or seven for them as well.
- 32:27Speaker 2: So it's a little bit out of the norm.
- 32:29Speaker 3: Like every other position you rotate, like offensive line typically
- 32:33Speaker 3: like obviously quarterback you don't really want to rotate, But
- 32:35Speaker 3: every other position group you'll see typically your five guys
- 32:38Speaker 3: are your five guys.
- 32:39Speaker 2: But LSU is going to roll multiple players through.
- 32:42Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean, there's probably not a lot of games
- 32:45Speaker 6: where only five offensive linemen play. I don't know if
- 32:49Speaker 6: I could ever recall the game in college or NFL
- 32:53Speaker 6: where it's just file like something happens, a chin strap breaks,
- 32:58Speaker 6: a guy has to get his ankle retaped, or you
- 33:00Speaker 6: got to get this knee brace a judge, like something
- 33:02Speaker 6: happens where guys where they're out. And there's of course
- 33:06Speaker 6: there's a lot of a lot of injuries, a lot
- 33:08Speaker 6: of knicks and bruises and things like that that for
- 33:11Speaker 6: offensive linemen during a game, they got to go things happen.
- 33:14Speaker 6: Now to go in with the plan of playing eight
- 33:17Speaker 6: is different because you know now that there is Yeah,
- 33:20Speaker 6: you got your start in five, but you also got
- 33:22Speaker 6: guys that that are positions maybe not be up, may
- 33:27Speaker 6: not be up in the air, but you still want
- 33:29Speaker 6: to rotate guys in. I don't see this being a
- 33:31Speaker 6: situation of like we just want to keep fresh bodies.
- 33:33Speaker 6: That's not like a defensive line, because you want that
- 33:36Speaker 6: continuity from an offensive line. It's a lot different than
- 33:38Speaker 6: the defensive line. So I don't really know what the
- 33:42Speaker 6: strategy is here by saying they're going to play eight,
- 33:47Speaker 6: I don't know how you do that rotation because, like
- 33:52Speaker 6: you said, it's not it's not a wide receiver room.
- 33:54Speaker 6: We're not keeping likes fresh, we're not keeping bodies fresh.
- 33:57Speaker 3: And it is you're going against two All American defensive
- 34:01Speaker 3: linemen as well, it's going to be the matchup that
- 34:06Speaker 3: decides the game.
- 34:07Speaker 6: Yeah, it seems to me by saying that going into
- 34:10Speaker 6: a game that the offensive line isn't completely solidified at
- 34:14Speaker 6: who that final five is going to be for the
- 34:16Speaker 6: entirety of the season if they had their if they
- 34:19Speaker 6: had their pick now, I might be completely wrong on that.
- 34:21Speaker 6: They might just be looking at the stats and be like, hey,
- 34:24Speaker 6: on an average, for the last three years, we play
- 34:27Speaker 6: about seven or eight lineman a game. Just by that
- 34:30Speaker 6: many people get in the game at some point because
- 34:32Speaker 6: of those things I just discussed, Because of a guy
- 34:35Speaker 6: I hadn't sit out a drive, just randomly, that's the
- 34:38Speaker 6: average amount of offensive line in that play.
- 34:41Speaker 5: I don't know, but they're all healthy. I know that.
- 34:45Speaker 2: Look, I'll be honest with you.
- 34:47Speaker 3: I would love to go into the game and Brian
- 34:50Speaker 3: Kelly say, hey, here's our five guys. He's gonna be
- 34:52Speaker 3: the five that we go with, and if we've got
- 34:55Speaker 3: a swing player that we want to get in there
- 34:58Speaker 3: as a six offensive lineman, can even be okay with that.
- 35:01Speaker 2: But look, six, seven, eight offensive linemen.
- 35:04Speaker 3: It tells me that right now you don't maybe know
- 35:07Speaker 3: who the best five are Now that could be because
- 35:09Speaker 3: there's great competition. That can be because you're looking for
- 35:11Speaker 3: somebody to step up and look, it is going to
- 35:14Speaker 3: be the story of the game. How does whoever's in
- 35:18Speaker 3: there at offensive line for LSU handle the Clemson defensive front.
- 35:22Speaker 3: Now you can flip that as well, like, don't don't
- 35:25Speaker 3: think Clemson doesn't have issues on the offensive line either. Right,
- 35:29Speaker 3: the offensive lines in this game both are a lot
- 35:32Speaker 3: of new and Clemson they've got some guys that have played,
- 35:35Speaker 3: but some are dealing with injury, some just haven't been
- 35:37Speaker 3: consistent in their career. And now you've got to revamped
- 35:40Speaker 3: LSU defensive line. Whoever wins that battle, I truly believe
- 35:44Speaker 3: is gonna win the game. Battle in the trenches, huh
- 35:49Speaker 3: I really, I mean as much talent as we have
- 35:51Speaker 3: at receiver I'm talking about in this game. I'm not
- 35:53Speaker 3: just talk about LS I'm talking about in this game.
- 35:55Speaker 3: You've got two of the best receiver rooms in the country.
- 35:58Speaker 3: You have, in my opinion, the two best quarterbacks in
- 36:01Speaker 3: the country in this game. But it's still all going
- 36:03Speaker 3: to come back to who wins the line of scrimmage,
- 36:06Speaker 3: who can protect their quarterback, Who can create those running lanes.
- 36:10Speaker 3: Clemson's moving a receiver to the running back, Like they're
- 36:12Speaker 3: starting running back is going to be a former receiver.
- 36:15Speaker 3: This is going to be his first ever game to
- 36:17Speaker 3: start a running back, and so like who wins that battle,
- 36:20Speaker 3: it's going to be the person and the team that's victorious.
- 36:24Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean I can see that. I just don't
- 36:26Speaker 6: see a either one of these teams. I know there's new,
- 36:30Speaker 6: there's new at the offensive line positions with both teams,
- 36:34Speaker 6: but it's college football.
- 36:35Speaker 5: There's always new.
- 36:36Speaker 6: Like, we have talented guys, we have guys that are
- 36:38Speaker 6: very capable, and I'm sure Clemson does too as well.
- 36:41Speaker 6: On the on their first eight in offensive line, I
- 36:44Speaker 6: don't see a situation where one defensive line dominated an
- 36:48Speaker 6: offensive line. I just don't see that situation. Now, which
- 36:51Speaker 6: offensive line can avoid the catastrophic play? Yeah, I missed assignment, blindside,
- 36:59Speaker 6: sat fumble, scoop and score situation. Which offensive line is
- 37:03Speaker 6: gonna make a play enough to like where we avoid
- 37:06Speaker 6: that catastrophic play, and which quarterback's gonna avoid that catastrophic play.
- 37:09Speaker 6: Then on the flip side, which defense is gonna make
- 37:12Speaker 6: that play? So I just don't see a situation where
- 37:15Speaker 6: it's gonna be clear and obvious that an offensive line
- 37:18Speaker 6: is dominating the game or being dominated in the game.
- 37:21Speaker 6: I think it's gonna look good. I think I think
- 37:23Speaker 6: each team's gonna make their plays. I think this is
- 37:25Speaker 6: a very intriguing, amazing matchup for Week one because I
- 37:30Speaker 6: think it's two very similar teams. I just think LSU's
- 37:33Speaker 6: got a little few more pieces.
- 37:35Speaker 3: How much do you think Clemson is going to have
- 37:37Speaker 3: design quarterback runs for k Clubnen because it has been
- 37:40Speaker 3: something that he has done in his career ten ten
- 37:44Speaker 3: Because now some of it might be like a.
- 37:48Speaker 6: Pre snap reed or post snap read, like a pool
- 37:51Speaker 6: situation or an RPO that turns into a scramble something
- 37:55Speaker 6: like that. But they're gonna run quarterback counter, They're gonna
- 37:58Speaker 6: run quarterback power, they're gonna run draw.
- 38:00Speaker 3: They're gonna do I say, at least double digit called
- 38:02Speaker 3: quarterback runs the option. I was watching tape last night
- 38:05Speaker 3: and I was watching the pit game. He's pitt had
- 38:08Speaker 3: pretty good defense, I got an All American linebacker he's
- 38:11Speaker 3: back this year as well.
- 38:12Speaker 2: And Kay Klubnick hit a big draw, like fifty yards toughter.
- 38:16Speaker 6: Yeah, I think I got well on the quarterback report
- 38:19Speaker 6: I did of him. I think he if you don't
- 38:21Speaker 6: count the sacks, he had nearly seven hundred yards rushing
- 38:23Speaker 6: last year. Yeah, so he ran a lot. Now, a
- 38:26Speaker 6: lot of it was against Appalastian State. Yeah, they had
- 38:29Speaker 6: about seven seventy five touchdowns against him. I think, so
- 38:33Speaker 6: he's a little stat padding.
- 38:34Speaker 5: Well.
- 38:34Speaker 3: Look, I mean LSU did struggle last year against running quarterbacks.
- 38:39Speaker 3: They struggle when you had designed quarterback run. And so
- 38:42Speaker 3: it's you know, going to have to be the point
- 38:44Speaker 3: of emphasis I think in this game plan. And look,
- 38:46Speaker 3: you've got a couple of guys, certainly at the linebacker
- 38:48Speaker 3: position that you feel good about in their individual one
- 38:50Speaker 3: on one matchup with really any quarterback in the country.
- 38:54Speaker 2: But like, how are you going to adjust? What are
- 38:55Speaker 2: you going to expect?
- 38:57Speaker 3: I'm not saying that Kay Clebnick is Jaylen Millroe as
- 38:59Speaker 3: far as athletic ability, but Flynn just said it. You
- 39:01Speaker 3: take away the sack yards he ran for like seven
- 39:03Speaker 3: hundred yards a year ago. He's got dual threat ability.
- 39:08Speaker 6: A true true dual threat ability, good straight line speak,
- 39:11Speaker 6: can move around in the pocket, extremely accurate passer, but
- 39:18Speaker 6: makes mistakes reading coverages every now and then, so you
- 39:21Speaker 6: have to take advantage of those opportunities. You cannot drop interceptions.
- 39:24Speaker 6: You have to take Yeah, I think you'll you will
- 39:26Speaker 6: have the opportunity to take a ball the other way,
- 39:31Speaker 6: maybe not for a touchdown, but you'll have an opportunity
- 39:33Speaker 6: to have an interception or two this game.
- 39:35Speaker 5: You have to make those opportunities.
- 39:36Speaker 6: There was an old like we had this old adage
- 39:38Speaker 6: in Green Bay when we were playing like every time
- 39:40Speaker 6: our defense dropped an interception, they scored a touchdown. The
- 39:44Speaker 6: other team scored a touchdown. Like, you have to take
- 39:46Speaker 6: advantage of the opportunities.
- 39:48Speaker 5: And we've said it.
- 39:49Speaker 6: Just to stop cade club Nick, he's gonna get his
- 39:52Speaker 6: right he's gonna make his yards, he's gonna he's gonna
- 39:55Speaker 6: make a good throw, he's gonna complete some third downs,
- 39:57Speaker 6: he's gonna score a touchdown or two, whatever it is.
- 40:00Speaker 6: He's going to make some runs. But to stop him,
- 40:02Speaker 6: consistently stop him throughout the entirety of the game, we
- 40:07Speaker 6: have to have great safety play. I know we're gonna
- 40:08Speaker 6: have good linebacker play.
- 40:09Speaker 5: I know.
- 40:10Speaker 6: I think our interior defensive lineman, I know they're well coached.
- 40:14Speaker 6: I know They're going to be disciplined. It's our safety play.
- 40:16Speaker 6: And I know we got our new guys and we
- 40:18Speaker 6: a lot of positivity coming out of training camp with
- 40:20Speaker 6: that play. But they have to play discipline. They got
- 40:23Speaker 6: to play downhill and they got to take advantage because
- 40:25Speaker 6: kay Kublic struggles reading safeties in coverage. So if they
- 40:30Speaker 6: can take advantage, yeah, get them, get them fooled a
- 40:32Speaker 6: little bit. Intercept the saame route, intercept, the dig over
- 40:36Speaker 6: the middle, whatever. He struggles reading the leverage, the depth
- 40:39Speaker 6: of safeties and what their what their body language is showing,
- 40:42Speaker 6: and ultra important in coming downhill and stopping him from
- 40:46Speaker 6: scrambling and from these called quarterback runs. So safety play
- 40:50Speaker 6: is what I'm watching the Saturday.
- 40:52Speaker 2: I know we got to take a break but also.
- 40:55Speaker 3: Aggressive safety play because I remember one thing on your
- 40:57Speaker 3: breakdown you talked about safeties being in a position to
- 41:00Speaker 3: make the play.
- 41:01Speaker 2: They just wouldn't go make it.
- 41:03Speaker 3: They would sit there and allow the receiver to catch
- 41:05Speaker 3: it then try to tackle him instead of being aggressive
- 41:07Speaker 3: and trying to go.
- 41:07Speaker 5: Make a play. So you got let it be aggressive
- 41:10Speaker 5: and you win.
- 41:11Speaker 2: Got you win and got some veteran safeties out of
- 41:13Speaker 2: the portal to go make play.
- 41:14Speaker 6: I'll tell you there's three four or five touchdowns that
- 41:16Speaker 6: k had last year throwing the ball that should have
- 41:19Speaker 6: been interceptions by safeties. They just didn't make the play.
- 41:22Speaker 6: So it goes down a sixty yard seventy yard touchdown
- 41:24Speaker 6: by Kate Club. Yes, great quarterback. Awesome, he's got flaws.
- 41:28Speaker 6: So we have to take advantage. And the person to
- 41:30Speaker 6: take advantage would be those two safeties. Well let's go.
- 41:35Speaker 5: What about the star, Oh yeah, for sure the star.
- 41:37Speaker 5: Let's get two or three.
- 41:38Speaker 6: Let's just get three stars. Yeah, no linebackers, right, three stars.
- 41:42Speaker 6: I like two stars myself, but a big two star guy.
- 41:45Speaker 3: All right, we'll take a break more OTB when we

- 43:09Speaker 1: This is off the Bench with Hester and Flynn. Baton
- 43:13Speaker 1: Rouge's go to for all things Louisiana Sports.
- 43:18Speaker 4: Shah Geez.
- 43:25Speaker 3: Welcome back in OTV one O four five ESPN Baton
- 43:28Speaker 3: Rouge Elandre Tata. We kind of took over that last segment,
- 43:32Speaker 3: so I want to make sure I throw it back
- 43:33Speaker 3: your way. I think in the Trenches is going to
- 43:36Speaker 3: be the storyline of the game. I know Matt has
- 43:38Speaker 3: kind of harped on the safety play for LSU, kind of.
- 43:41Speaker 2: Being one of his main themes of the game. What
- 43:44Speaker 2: about for y'all, Where are y'all going to be eye
- 43:47Speaker 2: hustling in the matchup?
- 43:51Speaker 9: Kind of kind of related to the trenches. I'm going
- 43:53Speaker 9: the running game in general like this. This is something
- 43:56Speaker 9: that I think has been pretty overlooked by a lot
- 43:59Speaker 9: of Adam Randall's going to be the starting running back
- 44:03Speaker 9: for Clemson. He has four career college carries because he's
- 44:06Speaker 9: been a wide receiver for his first three years. They
- 44:09Speaker 9: are decimated with injury. They got him two freshmen behind him.
- 44:12Speaker 9: That's what they got right now. Like Caid club Nick's
- 44:15Speaker 9: ability in the running game, that's the big thing for
- 44:17Speaker 9: me because LSU sucked and stopping running quarterbacks last year.
- 44:21Speaker 9: Brian kellyed his press conference yesterday said Caid Clubnick is
- 44:24Speaker 9: our central focus in the Clemson running game because they
- 44:27Speaker 9: don't have any running backs. So like that, that's what
- 44:29Speaker 9: I'm watching. I think LSU could have the advantage with
- 44:31Speaker 9: Caden Durham, but also how are they stopping club Nick?
- 44:36Speaker 7: So I was gonna go there too, so I'll go different.
- 44:38Speaker 7: And last season, I feel like one of our biggest
- 44:42Speaker 7: issues was the big plays and we could never find
- 44:45Speaker 7: like that big play, the explosive play. And you know,
- 44:49Speaker 7: Chris Hilton coming back, that's going to be a big, going,
- 44:53Speaker 7: a big addition to the team because he was out
- 44:55Speaker 7: basically all last season and Joe Sloan always talks about
- 44:59Speaker 7: how he's a very a player. So I think that
- 45:02Speaker 7: can we because I feel like that was our biggest
- 45:05Speaker 7: issue and why we couldn't get over the hump in
- 45:07Speaker 7: some of these games is we were missing a lot
- 45:09Speaker 7: of those big explosive plays. So hopefully with Chris Hilton,
- 45:12Speaker 7: Cayden Durham and even Harlan Barry, I'm excited to see him.
- 45:16Speaker 7: So that's what I'm going to be looking out for too.
- 45:21Speaker 2: That's the big playability for LSU.
- 45:23Speaker 3: It's a good one because last year the fact that
- 45:27Speaker 3: Garrett Nessmyer threw for over four thousand yards and they
- 45:29Speaker 3: were missing that all year long, and then when they
- 45:32Speaker 3: got it and it started to hit, it completely changed
- 45:34Speaker 3: the dynamic and it went up even another level. Well,
- 45:37Speaker 3: now you have not only do you have Chris Hilton healthy,
- 45:40Speaker 3: but you have other players that have that ability as well. Like,
- 45:43Speaker 3: that's what I like about this receiver room is it's
- 45:46Speaker 3: got depth, but everybody's different as well, Like you can
- 45:50Speaker 3: have a receiver room it's got a lot of really
- 45:52Speaker 3: good players. We talked about the Saints, they had three
- 45:54Speaker 3: of the same guy. It felt like, well, this one
- 45:56Speaker 3: has certainly different bodies with different kind of skill sets.
- 45:59Speaker 6: And it plays comes to everything comes out. That's why
- 46:02Speaker 6: it's such a great team sport. It comes down to
- 46:03Speaker 6: what Taylor said too, like you have to be able
- 46:05Speaker 6: to run the ball to create explosive opportunities. Like I
- 46:08Speaker 6: would look at if you broke down stats, most explosive
- 46:11Speaker 6: pass plays come off play action, come off safety is
- 46:14Speaker 6: coming up and getting those one on one matchups of corners.
- 46:17Speaker 6: If you're straight dropping back with three four wide every time,
- 46:19Speaker 6: there's not like opportunities for huge explosive plays. They happen,
- 46:23Speaker 6: but more so in the play action.
- 46:24Speaker 3: Game our two OTB coming your way off the bench,
