- 0:09Speaker 1: here with the Saturday morning sports show. I've got Kevin
- 0:12Speaker 1: the Sports Eric Daily with me and we've got a
- 0:15Speaker 1: studio for the guest keV.
- 0:17Speaker 2: We have indeed and we're looking forward to this one.
- 0:20Speaker 2: Today we're joined by members of the Folks and Rugby Club.
- 0:24Speaker 1: Right.
- 0:24Speaker 2: We have got two ladies. We've got Chilley Osborne who's
- 0:28Speaker 2: the captain. We've got Izzy Cole who is the player
- 0:32Speaker 2: and also a referee and a bit of a star apparently.
- 0:35Speaker 2: And we've got the man with the toughest job of all.
- 0:38Speaker 2: We've got Liam Liam is a manager, coach, trainer, whipcracker.
- 0:46Speaker 2: So we're going to come to them individually and find
- 0:49Speaker 2: out what's going on, but we will have a three
- 0:51Speaker 2: way conversation, I'm sure. And we also have got a
- 0:55Speaker 2: couple of songs lined up and so we're going to
- 0:58Speaker 2: find out just what they sing down at the rugby club.
- 1:01Speaker 1: That's cool. Also today, as we said Don Ross's Breakfast
- 1:05Speaker 1: show this morning. Thank you to Ross by the way
- 1:07Speaker 1: for the breakfast show. Another good one. It's folks in
- 1:11Speaker 1: Victor have the start of the new and I was
- 1:13Speaker 1: just about to say yes, being league, but we're no
- 1:15Speaker 1: longer in that. We were the champions of that last year.
- 1:18Speaker 1: So now we are in the National League South and
- 1:21Speaker 1: at the campaign stances this afternoon with a game against
- 1:24Speaker 1: Walton and Hersham at three pm. Okay, we start off
- 1:28Speaker 1: with a song. I'm just going to put this one
- 1:30Speaker 1: on because I like it, why why not? And then
- 1:34Speaker 1: we'll speak to our guests. The first one coming up
- 1:36Speaker 1: this morning is by the Beat and this one's called
- 1:39Speaker 1: Can't Get Used to Losing You. There you go, a
- 2:12Speaker 1: song made famous by Andy Williams and covered by the
- 2:16Speaker 1: Feat in nineteen eighty and that was called Can't Get
- 2:18Speaker 1: Used to Losing You?
- 2:20Speaker 3: Right.
- 2:20Speaker 2: Okay, so we're going to introduce our guests today. So
- 2:23Speaker 2: I want to say hello to Shelley. Good morning, Shelley,
- 2:25Speaker 2: Good morning Kevin. That was your role at the club.
- 2:28Speaker 4: So I am ladies captain.
- 2:30Speaker 2: Ladies captain right, yes, nearly the boss, the boss of
- 2:34Speaker 2: the ladies. But then you've got a boss over you,
- 2:36Speaker 2: over you sitting on the other side of.
- 2:38Speaker 4: Yes, I think there's lots of bosses in our tea.
- 2:40Speaker 2: Right, and let's bring in is he good morning? Is
- 2:43Speaker 2: the morning right? How are you today?
- 2:47Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 2:47Speaker 2: Okay, yeah, I'm good, good, good? And what do you
- 2:50Speaker 2: what's your role at the club?
- 2:51Speaker 1: Then?
- 2:51Speaker 2: What do you do?
- 2:52Speaker 3: So?
- 2:53Speaker 5: I play and I referee.
- 2:54Speaker 2: Play and referee? Oh wow, that's interesting. So I mean
- 2:58Speaker 2: if you had a choice, and you had a choice
- 3:00Speaker 2: the chance of playing or refereeing on a Saturday afternoon, what.
- 3:03Speaker 5: Would you choose refereeing Sunday?
- 3:09Speaker 2: Yeah? Yeah, of course. Yeah, all right, we'll come back
- 3:12Speaker 2: to that, right, and welcome to Liam.
- 3:15Speaker 6: Good morning, Liam, good morning?
- 3:17Speaker 2: And and what is your role at the club?
- 3:20Speaker 3: Sorry, the head coach for the ladies section, and I
- 3:23Speaker 3: also an assistant coach for the men's section as.
- 3:25Speaker 2: Well, Right, so you're the coach and does the coach
- 3:29Speaker 2: pick the team.
- 3:30Speaker 3: I'd picked the team for the for the ladies because
- 3:33Speaker 3: I've obviously got quite a few now to pick from,
- 3:36Speaker 3: and obviously the men I assistant kind of coaching the
- 3:39Speaker 3: forwards and deciding help to decide the forwards.
- 3:42Speaker 2: Okay, so let's stick sort of primarily to the ladies.
- 3:47Speaker 2: Is it just you solely pick them or do you
- 3:49Speaker 2: ever a choice or do you discuss it with Cherley?
- 3:53Speaker 1: Oh?
- 3:53Speaker 3: No, I always discuss with my captain. I've got another
- 3:57Speaker 3: coach with me called Mark Spearpoint. We're always talking about
- 4:00Speaker 3: who's training well, who's always a training and how they're
- 4:04Speaker 3: playing and what sort of the style of rugby would
- 4:07Speaker 3: to play.
- 4:08Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean it must be a tough job for
- 4:10Speaker 2: a coach at any level to say to someone I'm sorry,
- 4:14Speaker 2: we're going to have to you know, stand down this week.
- 4:17Speaker 2: And does that happen?
- 4:20Speaker 3: I think it was, yeah, sometimes, but more than the
- 4:23Speaker 3: fact that I've got to put someone on the bench.
- 4:26Speaker 3: His particular oppontment played quite well last week. It's one
- 4:29Speaker 3: of it's very tough now, it's really tough. When I
- 4:33Speaker 3: first started, I barely had ten players and now I've
- 4:36Speaker 3: got over thirty odd.
- 4:38Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 4:39Speaker 3: So's it's massive in the last three years. And that's
- 4:42Speaker 3: mostly down to the girls more than me myself, to
- 4:44Speaker 3: be fair.
- 4:45Speaker 2: Okay, So so Shelley, so you've got thirty players. Is
- 4:51Speaker 2: it a bit ambitious to go to two teams, do
- 4:53Speaker 2: you think? Or is it like you know, some some
- 4:57Speaker 2: you're going to lose some because they're not getting a game.
- 5:00Speaker 7: Yeah, so we have really thought about that. But our
- 5:03Speaker 7: squad is made up of a number of people that
- 5:05Speaker 7: are workers within the police ambulance service. We've got a
- 5:10Speaker 7: lot of shift workers, which is amazing, but sometimes it
- 5:13Speaker 7: means it.
- 5:15Speaker 4: Will overlap with our games.
- 5:17Speaker 7: So we have discussed that and we seem to be
- 5:20Speaker 7: recruiting more and more people that do shift work, which
- 5:23Speaker 7: is amazing, but you know, it can be difficult sometimes,
- 5:27Speaker 7: so with the yeah, the way the team is at
- 5:30Speaker 7: the moment, and also injuries. We've unfortunately, we picked up
- 5:33Speaker 7: a lot of injuries last season with some of our players,
- 5:36Speaker 7: especially the backs, and that's why I ended up getting
- 5:40Speaker 7: drawn into the backs by Liam. But yeah, we've we've
- 5:43Speaker 7: got some amazing players and that would be the goal,
- 5:46Speaker 7: that will be an ideal goal if we could get
- 5:47Speaker 7: to that stage because we have people at many different levels.
- 5:51Speaker 7: So we have people that are just coming in, brand
- 5:53Speaker 7: new players developing them. Then we've got the more of
- 5:55Speaker 7: you know, the players that have been there a long time.
- 5:59Speaker 7: And like mentioned Catherine, she's hopefully going to be coming
- 6:02Speaker 7: back next season, and yeah, we've got lots of players
- 6:05Speaker 7: that have been playing rugby for a long time.
- 6:08Speaker 2: Does Catherine play an active role or is she just
- 6:11Speaker 2: an ambassador these days?
- 6:12Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 6:12Speaker 7: So, and I'll also cavey out that you mentioned Catherine
- 6:15Speaker 7: was in her fifties.
- 6:16Speaker 4: She's in her forties.
- 6:20Speaker 2: For the Yeah, I'm going to edit this bit out
- 6:23Speaker 2: of the show.
- 6:25Speaker 7: So yeah, Catherine played a few games for US last season,
- 6:28Speaker 7: which was amazing. It was great for her to be
- 6:32Speaker 7: alongside her in the changing room and then go out
- 6:34Speaker 7: and then play with her on the pitch because some
- 6:36Speaker 7: of the girls that are in the team now, we
- 6:38Speaker 7: started off as as.
- 6:40Speaker 4: Young young girls.
- 6:41Speaker 7: You know. We were probably about thirteen, fourteen, fifteen, and
- 6:44Speaker 7: we used to go watch Catherine play when she I
- 6:48Speaker 7: remember a game we played, watched her play at Richmond
- 6:50Speaker 7: and it was England via the USA, so we all
- 6:52Speaker 7: went up as a squad. We've got a picture of her.
- 6:55Speaker 7: I think someone was in a wheelchair at the time,
- 6:57Speaker 7: said an injury, but yeah, we've still got that picture.
- 7:00Speaker 7: So it was amazing to go from watching Catherine play
- 7:03Speaker 7: for England and then her being by our side as yeah. Yeah,
- 7:07Speaker 7: so yeah, that was amazing.
- 7:08Speaker 1: Yeah. Good.
- 7:09Speaker 2: I will say that I have read a book actually,
- 7:12Speaker 2: and there are a few names in there that even
- 7:14Speaker 2: I recognized, some of the coaches that Liam probably know.
- 7:20Speaker 2: But let's come on to you then, is he how
- 7:23Speaker 2: is he?
- 7:24Speaker 1: So?
- 7:25Speaker 2: What made you get into refereeing, you obviously played first
- 7:29Speaker 2: of all, and then decided to referee.
- 7:31Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 7:32Speaker 5: So I started playing when I was about eleven, and
- 7:35Speaker 5: it was my mum had started. So her whole thought
- 7:39Speaker 5: was that instead of our coaches having to referee us,
- 7:42Speaker 5: they could coach and she'll do it. And then I
- 7:44Speaker 5: watched her do it and join the society and I
- 7:46Speaker 5: was like I like that, yeah, and went and gave
- 7:48Speaker 5: it a go, and then it kind of went from there.
- 7:50Speaker 2: And was it was it tough at first? Your very
- 7:53Speaker 2: first game. Can you remember the very first game you refereed?
- 7:56Speaker 5: It was tough. It was like learning it because you
- 7:58Speaker 5: look at it from a player's perspective and you're like,
- 7:59Speaker 5: I know the laws, I know what I'm doing, and
- 8:02Speaker 5: then it was kind of a bit like, oh, I'm
- 8:03Speaker 5: in charge of this now.
- 8:04Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 8:05Speaker 5: I think I started with younger age grades. I did
- 8:08Speaker 5: like under eights and worked my way up, which helped
- 8:10Speaker 5: instead of just going in the deep end.
- 8:12Speaker 2: If that makes sense, it does.
- 8:13Speaker 5: Yes, Yeah, it was a challenge, but the more I
- 8:15Speaker 5: did it, the more I learned and got into it.
- 8:17Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 8:18Speaker 2: And have you have you have you set yourself any
- 8:20Speaker 2: goals for referee, and I mean, do you find that
- 8:24Speaker 2: you would like to go higher up the letter?
- 8:27Speaker 5: Yeah? I think at the minute that is one of
- 8:29Speaker 5: my big things within our society is to work up
- 8:31Speaker 5: the higher levels to be doing referee and maybe something
- 8:35Speaker 5: like CHAMP. So I got up to refereeing NC one
- 8:37Speaker 5: for women's this season NC one.
- 8:39Speaker 2: So which is the league that love us? Yeah? Yeah,
- 8:42Speaker 2: you're Shelley. You're going into n C two. No, you're
- 8:45Speaker 2: in n C two now, aren't you. Yeah that's right? Yeah, yeah, okay,
- 8:49Speaker 2: So I think it's we've chatted a little bit enough,
- 8:51Speaker 2: so it's about time for a bit of music. So
- 8:54Speaker 2: we're going to talk about a certain song that I
- 8:58Speaker 2: think we bring Liam in here because little Birdie told
- 9:02Speaker 2: me that you got up and did a karaoke to
- 9:04Speaker 2: this one. Is that right?
- 9:06Speaker 3: Yeah? I got roped into that unfortunately. But what was
- 9:10Speaker 3: the co So it was our end of season presentation
- 9:13Speaker 3: where we hand out awards two players that think have
- 9:17Speaker 3: stood out for the whole season, and then we just
- 9:21Speaker 3: had a bit of fun bit of obviously a bit
- 9:23Speaker 3: of alcohol involved, and then yeah, I just I sat
- 9:30Speaker 3: there nice and nice and quiet, and then I got
- 9:32Speaker 3: roped into talking and singing this song, and they've somehow
- 9:36Speaker 3: sneaked onto a little bit of social media which you
- 9:40Speaker 3: can't get away.
- 9:41Speaker 2: With anything, right, So right, Liam, let's ad will press
- 9:48Speaker 2: the button. That's what I was going to say.
- 9:49Speaker 3: What we got then, welcome to things like beefa the
- 9:55Speaker 3: Thenger Boys, one of those things I got ripped, I said,
- 9:58Speaker 3: I got roped into it. I'll bet you was up
- 10:01Speaker 3: there like a shot for obviously while I was at
- 10:03Speaker 3: work with a police officer as well. So I drive
- 10:06Speaker 3: around and we're driving around, I put this song on
- 10:09Speaker 3: and I got they now passed on to the ladies
- 10:11Speaker 3: and now they're taking advantage.
- 10:13Speaker 1: Then here we go. This is the beg of Boys
- 10:17Speaker 1: and we're going to i'd.
- 10:18Speaker 2: And we all want to sing along in the studio.
- 10:20Speaker 1: Heah, here we go, Hello barty people, this.
- 10:22Speaker 2: Is Captain Kim speaking. Welcome aboard Beuys.
- 10:25Speaker 5: After takeoff, we'll pump up the sound system because we're
- 10:28Speaker 5: going to pizza.
- 10:39Speaker 6: I don't want to be a.
- 10:40Speaker 2: Best travel We're going to it bitter.
- 10:51Speaker 1: There you go, finger Boys from nineteen ninety eight, all
- 10:54Speaker 1: that time ago.
- 10:55Speaker 2: Well, i'll tell you what. The studio was really rocking
- 10:57Speaker 2: it and there will be some social media going out
- 11:03Speaker 2: now we'll say. It's just just reminded me. I was
- 11:05Speaker 2: talking thinking about the old days of a Catherine's book.
- 11:08Speaker 2: But I don't know if this was before your time, Liam,
- 11:12Speaker 2: but there was a story where the men went on
- 11:15Speaker 2: tour in Holland, all right, and that unfortunately alcohol got
- 11:20Speaker 2: the better of them and they invited a ladies Dutch
- 11:25Speaker 2: team over to play Folkston and I said, yeah, great
- 11:30Speaker 2: as so the ladies came over. But what the club
- 11:34Speaker 2: didn't realize they were one of the top sides in Holland.
- 11:38Speaker 2: Can you remember this absolutely?
- 11:42Speaker 4: I played in that game.
- 11:43Speaker 2: Did you well? I came up and watched it. They
- 11:45Speaker 2: hammered you, didn't they?
- 11:46Speaker 7: Yeah, I will tell you a story about that, Kevin.
- 11:48Speaker 7: So we got told the night before the game too.
- 11:51Speaker 7: We had a dinner. We had a lovely three course
- 11:53Speaker 7: dinner at the club. We were drinking wine because we
- 11:56Speaker 7: were like, show them a good time, you know, take
- 11:58Speaker 7: them out.
- 11:59Speaker 4: So we took them to the priz, which was you
- 12:01Speaker 4: know for us. All the time.
- 12:03Speaker 7: We were probably eight out till two three in the
- 12:06Speaker 7: morning with and the girls listening. They're loveless this story.
- 12:13Speaker 7: And the next day we played them and they were
- 12:16Speaker 7: out warming up.
- 12:16Speaker 4: We were just turning up.
- 12:18Speaker 7: We barely had our kit together, and they were all
- 12:21Speaker 7: kitted out in the exact same you know kit, looking
- 12:24Speaker 7: really professional. So oh no, oh no, maybe we shouldn't
- 12:28Speaker 7: have Maybe we should drink soft drinks. And they were
- 12:31Speaker 7: all on soft drinks and we were like, maybe they
- 12:32Speaker 7: don't drink alcohol, And then I think, yeah, I think
- 12:35Speaker 7: it was about one hundred niols. You got ruined. We
- 12:39Speaker 7: were all hungover. We were so hungover, and we still
- 12:42Speaker 7: talk about that to this day. It was yeah, the
- 12:47Speaker 7: people listening are laughing at this.
- 12:48Speaker 4: Oh yeah, we had a great time.
- 12:50Speaker 7: But then we didn't realize they'd been hand selected to
- 12:53Speaker 7: I think they were being part of like the Olympics
- 12:57Speaker 7: or something like that.
- 12:58Speaker 4: They were on like.
- 12:59Speaker 7: Some kind of yeah development for that. So they were
- 13:01Speaker 7: all hand picked from all different sports. Some of them
- 13:04Speaker 7: have come from boxing and some of them had come
- 13:06Speaker 7: from hockey, and yeah, so yeah, took them down the prayers,
- 13:10Speaker 7: had a good time.
- 13:11Speaker 2: And then as I'm glad you you you reminded me
- 13:15Speaker 2: of that, because there's times I think, did I did
- 13:20Speaker 2: I actually remember that? Or did I dream it? Did
- 13:22Speaker 2: I go down and or did I dream that they? Yeah, nightmare,
- 13:29Speaker 2: I don't think. Yeah, I don't think I reported that game.
- 13:31Speaker 2: Actually I watched it. I thought, no, it's probably left
- 13:34Speaker 2: in the animals of history. Yeah, okay, So the turn
- 13:38Speaker 2: to you and nelliam Ne Liam You're you're there the coach,
- 13:41Speaker 2: I mean, what is he like coaching ladies? Did they
- 13:45Speaker 2: give you a tough time? Did they do as they're told?
- 13:47Speaker 2: And you know, do they go sulky or do they
- 13:49Speaker 2: really really go for it? I don't mention any names.
- 13:54Speaker 6: I think you've kind of covered it all there. They
- 13:56Speaker 6: do all of that.
- 14:00Speaker 3: No, they're a very good bunch, very easy to actually coach.
- 14:05Speaker 3: So they show kind of show respect to me and
- 14:07Speaker 3: I show respect back.
- 14:08Speaker 6: And it's lovely, lovely groups to coach. They say.
- 14:13Speaker 3: Sometimes you have to kind of crack the whip because
- 14:16Speaker 3: obviously they're all friends. They're all trying to have that
- 14:18Speaker 3: little joky laugh together. Sometimes you got to remember we
- 14:21Speaker 3: are to play rugby, so you got them sort that out.
- 14:25Speaker 3: But other than that, ninety of the time they are
- 14:28Speaker 3: top notch.
- 14:29Speaker 2: So if you've got thirty of them, and do you
- 14:31Speaker 2: split them up into groups of ten.
- 14:33Speaker 3: Or I mean I can always get thirty a training
- 14:36Speaker 3: all the time. But yeah, so well I try and
- 14:39Speaker 3: kick them all together as much as possible. And then
- 14:41Speaker 3: obviously you've got two sizes to rugby. You've got forward
- 14:45Speaker 3: they do all the dog work and all the big
- 14:47Speaker 3: tackling rucky, and you've got the backs to do the
- 14:49Speaker 3: fancy stuff.
- 14:50Speaker 6: Obviously you can tell them all forward.
- 14:52Speaker 3: It used to be a forward even, but yeah, the
- 14:54Speaker 3: backs kind of have different sort of specialties that they
- 14:58Speaker 3: need to kind of work on, so you'll split them.
- 15:00Speaker 2: Okay, So that's a good point actually, so you know
- 15:04Speaker 2: you can split them up and so to practice their
- 15:06Speaker 2: own special skills anyway, Yes.
- 15:08Speaker 1: Ye.
- 15:10Speaker 3: Say that so far is all kind of that strength, Yeah,
- 15:15Speaker 3: that strength.
- 15:16Speaker 2: And the backs of speed really aren't they?
- 15:18Speaker 3: Yeah, there's there's ninety percent of the time. But I
- 15:20Speaker 3: think you've got Izzy over there who's kind of that
- 15:22Speaker 3: highbrid so be careful of that one.
- 15:25Speaker 2: Okay, so is it We haven't spoken to you for
- 15:27Speaker 2: a little while, so is he What position do you play?
- 15:30Speaker 1: Then?
- 15:32Speaker 5: I think I moved into the flank and I did
- 15:34Speaker 5: a few at number eight last season.
- 15:37Speaker 2: Do you find that continually playing rugby helps you with
- 15:42Speaker 2: the referees understand that the mentality of players and you
- 15:45Speaker 2: can see what's what's how to handle a situation.
- 15:49Speaker 5: Definitely is a different perspective because I know there would
- 15:51Speaker 5: have been times where I used to get really angry
- 15:54Speaker 5: and I still not as angry, but I'll all have
- 15:56Speaker 5: words with the ref But you kind of think, oh,
- 15:59Speaker 5: I can't say that because they're human. I've had it
- 16:03Speaker 5: a few times where I've refereed. I've been why are
- 16:06Speaker 5: you saying that to me?
- 16:06Speaker 4: What have I done?
- 16:08Speaker 5: Just a bit like you learn what's appropriate and you
- 16:11Speaker 5: learn to remember what they can see.
- 16:14Speaker 2: So the big difference Adrian is referee and the game
- 16:19Speaker 2: is We've just seen in the Football World Cup, haven't
- 16:22Speaker 2: we and it was like referees were the players the behavior.
- 16:27Speaker 2: But there's so much more respect, isn't it in rugby?
- 16:30Speaker 1: Yeah? I mean you see it. I mean if the
- 16:32Speaker 1: referee says something, the player obviously listens to them, and
- 16:38Speaker 1: that they seem to show the referee a lot more
- 16:40Speaker 1: respecting rugby than what they do in football. I will
- 16:42Speaker 1: say that talking of rugby, I mean the number ten
- 16:47Speaker 1: is normally the kicker if I if I'm correct, and
- 16:51Speaker 1: some of the angles that they put that ball into
- 16:54Speaker 1: is unbelievable. Do you have a specialist kicker in your team?
- 16:58Speaker 7: Yes, so we have a specialist kicker, not number ten though.
- 17:01Speaker 7: Actually Laurel is another hybrid player. She's fantastic in the
- 17:05Speaker 7: forwards and she's also Liam moved around a lot in
- 17:09Speaker 7: the team and sometimes she played number nine last season
- 17:12Speaker 7: she was excellent at that. But she was the tops
- 17:15Speaker 7: point scorer for the league last season. We were really
- 17:18Speaker 7: fortunate to have Laurel and also Maddie who was also
- 17:21Speaker 7: the top try scorer. So Laurel's kicks were unbelievable. They
- 17:26Speaker 7: were won us some of the games as well.
- 17:28Speaker 1: Yeah, when I watched the rugby on TV, you know
- 17:33Speaker 1: the England team, you think that that's never going to go.
- 17:37Speaker 1: You're not going to score from there. So I mean
- 17:39Speaker 1: the amount of practice that must be going to those
- 17:42Speaker 1: kicks is phenomenal.
- 17:45Speaker 7: Yeah, and I think for the Red Roses certainly that
- 17:48Speaker 7: the number ten in the Red Roses, her kicking is
- 17:50Speaker 7: actually better than the men's on I suppose it's the
- 17:54Speaker 7: thing that you can be compared against because you know
- 17:57Speaker 7: they're doing the same they're kicking from the same spot essentially,
- 18:00Speaker 7: and she's more accurate than the men's.
- 18:02Speaker 4: Her kicking is like phenomenal. Yeah, it's amazing.
- 18:05Speaker 1: Many years ago, I used to play American football and
- 18:07Speaker 1: used to be the kicker for Folks and vikings, And
- 18:10Speaker 1: I know how difficult that could. I mean, but you'd
- 18:14Speaker 1: you get a little bit more time. I do appreciate that.
- 18:17Speaker 1: And but you know that you in American FOOTBA, You've
- 18:21Speaker 1: got like a couple of seconds and you have to
- 18:22Speaker 1: kick that ball through that through the goal, and it's
- 18:26Speaker 1: it's a very very difficult thing to do week in
- 18:29Speaker 1: week out, I suppose for in your position with your team.
- 18:34Speaker 7: Yeah, and I think as well, I'll go back to
- 18:36Speaker 7: the referee and the respect I think you know all
- 18:41Speaker 7: season and also every time you play a game, the
- 18:44Speaker 7: ref tells you that anyone that wants to speak goes
- 18:47Speaker 7: through the captain. So I always have to go to
- 18:50Speaker 7: the ref and talk to him about her about something
- 18:53Speaker 7: that's gone on.
- 18:54Speaker 4: In the game.
- 18:55Speaker 7: Maybe there's something that's not quite right in the Rocks
- 18:58Speaker 7: or maybe something not quite right in the grum, but
- 19:00Speaker 7: everything has to come through the captain, and we were
- 19:03Speaker 7: the only ones really.
- 19:04Speaker 4: That can talk to them or about leader.
- 19:06Speaker 7: So it kind of stops the noise from the team
- 19:09Speaker 7: and also that pressure as well, because if you've got
- 19:12Speaker 7: like in the football, you saw all the men approaching
- 19:15Speaker 7: the ref shouting at him, probably swearing at him and
- 19:18Speaker 7: doing all sorts, and there's that pressure, isn't there then
- 19:21Speaker 7: for him to make or that that decision in the game.
- 19:24Speaker 2: In the ladies' games that you play on a Sunday,
- 19:27Speaker 2: and do you find that you get a male referees
- 19:30Speaker 2: or female referees or it can vary.
- 19:32Speaker 7: We've had one female referee I think this season, I
- 19:35Speaker 7: think the majority are men's referee but I think now
- 19:39Speaker 7: it is changing, so I think women certainly this year
- 19:44Speaker 7: was the first time that there was a women's referee
- 19:47Speaker 7: within the six nations, yeah, so, which was amazing.
- 19:52Speaker 4: She's a great referee.
- 19:53Speaker 7: And I also know a referee that I went to
- 19:56Speaker 7: UNI with and we played together and she's now refereeing
- 19:59Speaker 7: in the p WR, which is the Women's Rugby Premiership.
- 20:03Speaker 7: So I think there are them role models now and
- 20:05Speaker 7: it is I think increasing. I think probably I don't know,
- 20:08Speaker 7: you'll have to ask is this if there's more women
- 20:10Speaker 7: getting involved with refereeing, but I think there is that
- 20:13Speaker 7: option there as well. If you love the game so
- 20:15Speaker 7: much but don't want to play anymore, there's still that
- 20:18Speaker 7: option there to go on and be a ref and
- 20:20Speaker 7: I think the r refee are really trying to push
- 20:22Speaker 7: that as well, to get more women into a referee
- 20:25Speaker 7: in games.
- 20:26Speaker 2: Okay, Liam, back to you. I mean at your level,
- 20:29Speaker 2: at the first team level, do you get female referees?
- 20:34Speaker 6: Not for the men. I haven't seen a female referee
- 20:37Speaker 6: for the Massive Life. I have seen one, and she
- 20:41Speaker 6: was actually a very good referee.
- 20:42Speaker 3: I think I haven't seen her since she must have
- 20:45Speaker 3: been picked up and moved on quite quickly.
- 20:47Speaker 2: But also at your level running the line, do you
- 20:52Speaker 2: get officials or do you have to get a member
- 20:54Speaker 2: of each club?
- 20:55Speaker 3: No, it's no normally a member of each club. We
- 20:59Speaker 3: normally designate it to our director of rugby keyboard word.
- 21:04Speaker 3: He always ends up doing it because I'll see the
- 21:08Speaker 3: normally start with the substitute kind of do it. But
- 21:11Speaker 3: obviously injuries happen, substitutes happen for the women. We've normally
- 21:16Speaker 3: got one guy that plays that she plays with the men.
- 21:19Speaker 6: Mason. He likes to step up for us and do
- 21:22Speaker 6: it for the women.
- 21:22Speaker 2: Most people once they put a flag in their hand.
- 21:24Speaker 2: They go, oh my god, I don't know the rules
- 21:26Speaker 2: because it happened to me. My lad come up through
- 21:31Speaker 2: the Invictor system for football, and one day the manager
- 21:36Speaker 2: said to me, can you run the line?
- 21:37Speaker 1: keV.
- 21:38Speaker 2: I've been playing football all these years. I don't know
- 21:40Speaker 2: if I know the rules. So I actually took a
- 21:42Speaker 2: referees course and I didn't want a referee, but I thought,
- 21:46Speaker 2: if I'm going to run the line, I don't want
- 21:48Speaker 2: people saying linesmen you don't know. So yeah, so I
- 21:52Speaker 2: took a course and it did help. So enough talking
- 21:55Speaker 2: for a little while. So we got another song chosen
- 21:58Speaker 2: by the team. So who's going to tell us about
- 22:01Speaker 2: this one?
- 22:02Speaker 4: Is this the Basement Jacks?
- 22:03Speaker 3: It is? Yeah?
- 22:04Speaker 7: So this is a request by Meghan West. She's one
- 22:07Speaker 7: of her favorite songs and it's from the Bend. It
- 22:09Speaker 7: like Beckham, which is Yeah, Growing Up, a film that
- 22:13Speaker 7: we all love because it's about women getting involved with sports.
- 22:16Speaker 2: That was a great film.
- 22:17Speaker 6: I love it.
- 22:17Speaker 2: Yeah, I love absolutely.
- 22:19Speaker 1: Hear a Nightley one of her first roles.
- 22:20Speaker 2: I think, yeah, yeah she went on to great things,
- 22:22Speaker 2: did she did? Yeah?
- 22:23Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 22:24Speaker 2: Okay, So Agel, what we.
- 22:25Speaker 1: Got it's his basement Jackson, do your thing. You'll never
- 22:28Speaker 1: hear this again on a Saturday morning the radio show
- 22:31Speaker 1: because it's after nineteen eighty eight, So it's a two
- 22:34Speaker 1: thousand and five song for me. If you don't know
- 22:39Speaker 1: after nineteen eighty eight music stops for me. Anyway, this
- 22:43Speaker 1: is Basement Jack's and do your thing. There you go,
- 23:08Speaker 1: Basement Jacks from the film Bend It like Beckham there was?
- 23:14Speaker 2: That was a feel good film, wasn't it that one?
- 23:18Speaker 2: And I often wonder that bit of the end where
- 23:21Speaker 2: they're walking past at the airport was it then or
- 23:23Speaker 2: was it not? Or was it to lookalike? Right? So
- 23:28Speaker 2: we're going to come back to you. Is he now?
- 23:30Speaker 1: Is he?
- 23:31Speaker 2: A little Birdie told me that you were awarded the
- 23:34Speaker 2: Kent or a few Young Person of the Year, so
- 23:37Speaker 2: I know this is probably put you on the spot
- 23:39Speaker 2: there about of course for is he? So how did
- 23:42Speaker 2: that come about? First of all? Did you know anything
- 23:46Speaker 2: about it? Were you nominated by a fellow member or
- 23:49Speaker 2: someone just seeing you? And how did it all happen?
- 23:53Speaker 5: So it works off nominations and people from clubs well,
- 24:00Speaker 5: so there'll be different categories and they can put some
- 24:02Speaker 5: more forward. So I got told about a month before it.
- 24:06Speaker 5: I literally just got told, oh you're going to this.
- 24:08Speaker 5: I didn't get told it was for an award or
- 24:09Speaker 5: for anything, right, and I rocked up. And so people
- 24:14Speaker 5: put nominations in and a table of people sit down
- 24:17Speaker 5: and decide, oh, okay, they think this person could be shortlisted.
- 24:21Speaker 5: So there was two for each categories shortlisted. There was
- 24:24Speaker 5: me and another girl. Then they just chose. So I
- 24:27Speaker 5: think I had Ashford and folks and put one in.
- 24:30Speaker 2: Right, So where did you have to go for the award?
- 24:33Speaker 5: So it was up. They were in a different place
- 24:35Speaker 5: every year, so I know other years it's been Elsford.
- 24:37Speaker 5: We went up to lords With.
- 24:38Speaker 2: This year, oh to another rugby club, Rugby, Yeah, I've
- 24:41Speaker 2: been to I've been to lords With. I did the
- 24:44Speaker 2: driver awareness course. There was it nothing to do with rugby.
- 24:47Speaker 2: It was it was at the at the rugby club
- 24:51Speaker 2: too fast, yeah it was yeah, I got I've got
- 24:53Speaker 2: fleshed at the lights down down at just past Saying
- 24:56Speaker 2: Gate as you come out of Saying Gate. It was
- 24:58Speaker 2: only doing about thirty two, but.
- 25:01Speaker 1: Fault.
- 25:02Speaker 2: It quite interesting actually, and you know all about that.
- 25:05Speaker 6: I'm just keeping quiet.
- 25:07Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 25:08Speaker 2: So so you went up to the lord'sward just sitting
- 25:13Speaker 2: there and you still didn't have a clue. It wasn't
- 25:15Speaker 2: until they announced it. Is that how it worked?
- 25:18Speaker 4: No, So how did like a brief idea?
- 25:20Speaker 5: I was told I was shortlisted for an award, I
- 25:22Speaker 5: didn't know what category or anything. Kind of pieced it
- 25:25Speaker 5: together and lee and kind of whispered in my ear
- 25:26Speaker 5: across the table, Well, it's got to be the youth
- 25:28Speaker 5: one now then, doesn't it.
- 25:31Speaker 1: Right?
- 25:31Speaker 2: Okay, great, So it's not only a great coup for you,
- 25:34Speaker 2: but it's a great coup for the people behind you,
- 25:37Speaker 2: the coaches and the captains and the club of course,
- 25:39Speaker 2: and so yeah, that is that is fantastic. Let's go
- 25:43Speaker 2: back to refereeing. So how often do you have to
- 25:47Speaker 2: take an exam or whatever you call it to get
- 25:52Speaker 2: up to the next level? Can you got a couple
- 25:54Speaker 2: of seasons or one season?
- 25:56Speaker 5: So you kind of do your initial one? So we
- 25:59Speaker 5: have initial course is within the r refew which just
- 26:02Speaker 5: changed now so it's gone to ready to RAF so
- 26:05Speaker 5: people before might know it as your introduction to referee
- 26:08Speaker 5: and which will give you the basis to go into
- 26:10Speaker 5: the society or you're ready not you're ready to that's
- 26:13Speaker 5: a new one, your ka so it's your big referee
- 26:17Speaker 5: in one, but it's changed now they're combined. So you
- 26:21Speaker 5: do that and then you can join the society like
- 26:24Speaker 5: I did. It's not exactly a test every time, but
- 26:26Speaker 5: you'll go and referee games.
- 26:27Speaker 2: You're assigned, so you're assisted. I suppose that's the word.
- 26:30Speaker 5: Yeah, they'll assess you and see on a panel at
- 26:33Speaker 5: the end of the season if they think you're ready
- 26:34Speaker 5: to go off.
- 26:36Speaker 2: Right, Okay, So Shirley coming over to you. So the
- 26:40Speaker 2: club had a good year last year and you came
- 26:43Speaker 2: second in the table, but you did manage to get promotion.
- 26:46Speaker 2: But it was a bit touch and go, wasn't it
- 26:47Speaker 2: right up to the Royal last game.
- 26:49Speaker 7: Yeah. So we started the season brilliantly. We started with
- 26:53Speaker 7: a forty.
- 26:53Speaker 4: Five nerl win over Becker Amiens and.
- 26:57Speaker 7: I remember that game quite vividly. I think it was
- 26:59Speaker 7: October our season started. It was quite late just because
- 27:02Speaker 7: of the Women's World Cup. It delayed things and it
- 27:06Speaker 7: was absolutely hammering it down. It's such an awful day
- 27:09Speaker 7: to play and we were really up for it. And
- 27:13Speaker 7: the ref even turned around to me and said what
- 27:14Speaker 7: do you think about the rain and I was.
- 27:16Speaker 4: I was thinking, you know, this is rugby weather. This
- 27:18Speaker 4: is great weather to play rugby.
- 27:20Speaker 7: I think he wanted to call it, but yeah, that
- 27:23Speaker 7: was a great start and then we went on from there.
- 27:25Speaker 4: We won their first two games.
- 27:27Speaker 7: We played our third game and unfortunately lost away at Thanet,
- 27:31Speaker 7: which I think was a bit of a shock because
- 27:33Speaker 7: last season many of our games we were winning by
- 27:36Speaker 7: quite a lot. And yeah, it was it was a
- 27:39Speaker 7: great season. We came up last season, so we had
- 27:43Speaker 7: we were promoted from MT three with seven Oaks and
- 27:48Speaker 7: US and seven Oaks went into the next league in
- 27:51Speaker 7: MT two, and I think the highlights of the season
- 27:56Speaker 7: we played, especially at Folkston home ground.
- 27:59Speaker 3: We have.
- 28:01Speaker 4: It's like a fortress to us. We're still yet to
- 28:03Speaker 4: lose there.
- 28:04Speaker 7: We always are really strong at home and I think
- 28:07Speaker 7: teams kind of fear comeing to us because they know
- 28:10Speaker 7: we always win and score quite highly there.
- 28:12Speaker 2: So when you play, do you play the men play
- 28:15Speaker 2: on the first team pitch, that's what I call it.
- 28:17Speaker 2: Do you follow that or do you play on the
- 28:19Speaker 2: second pitch?
- 28:19Speaker 4: No, No, we on the first pitch because we are
- 28:21Speaker 4: the first team and we are the later so it's
- 28:25Speaker 4: actually a really good day.
- 28:26Speaker 7: And when we do play on home especially, it's lovely weather.
- 28:32Speaker 7: On that balcony at the top. We've got a group
- 28:35Speaker 7: of some of our husbands and boyfriends that come along
- 28:37Speaker 7: and they like to have a few drinks on the
- 28:39Speaker 7: sideline as well, and they thoroughly enjoy home and away
- 28:42Speaker 7: games as well.
- 28:44Speaker 4: But yeah, it's a great day.
- 28:46Speaker 7: And we also have a roast after which is quite nice,
- 28:49Speaker 7: and teams quite like that because it's better than most
- 28:51Speaker 7: food they get for other games.
- 28:53Speaker 4: They We're very fortunate the club put that on.
- 28:55Speaker 1: Nobody told me that I might have.
- 28:58Speaker 4: To come down.
- 29:00Speaker 2: You doing us up there? But of course is it
- 29:01Speaker 2: the president's dinner.
- 29:03Speaker 4: Yeah, so that's on a Saturday lunches.
- 29:06Speaker 2: So talking about the pitches, I mean, now, is there
- 29:10Speaker 2: a blade of grass on the on the pitches up there?
- 29:12Speaker 2: Is it brown or what's it like up there? It
- 29:14Speaker 2: must be like concrete.
- 29:15Speaker 4: It is looking very dry.
- 29:17Speaker 7: But then April, I think our last game of the
- 29:19Speaker 7: season was twenty eighth or ninth of April. Liam, Yeah,
- 29:22Speaker 7: around then on the ground is like concrete then, so
- 29:25Speaker 7: I can't imagine what it's like. And our first game
- 29:28Speaker 7: is the twentieth of September, but that's a way and
- 29:31Speaker 7: then our first home games the twenty seventh, So I'm
- 29:34Speaker 7: hoping we're going to have a lot of rain. Rain, Yeah,
- 29:36Speaker 7: it would be quite so that's when your season starts
- 29:38Speaker 7: in twentieth September.
- 29:41Speaker 2: I mean the rain it's been great, isn't it. And
- 29:43Speaker 2: we love a summer and the rest of it, and
- 29:45Speaker 2: I just hope that the sun stays out till the
- 29:47Speaker 2: end of the school holidays really and then it pours
- 29:49Speaker 2: down because we do need it, There's no two ways
- 29:52Speaker 2: about it. You know, all the plants are dying and
- 29:55Speaker 2: there's not a blade of green grass in the county.
- 29:58Speaker 2: But I think it's time for a bit of music.
- 30:00Speaker 1: Okay, Well, I've got this next one on here. In
- 30:04Speaker 1: a few weeks time, I am going to actually see
- 30:06Speaker 1: this band I am. And it's a it's not a
- 30:10Speaker 1: Friday night, it's a Wednesday night.
- 30:11Speaker 2: Wednesday night.
- 30:12Speaker 1: It's a Wednesday night and it's at Tunbridge World's Forum.
- 30:16Speaker 1: This young lady was the front of a band from Scotland.
- 30:21Speaker 1: She also appeared in the comedy series Red Dwarf. Her
- 30:26Speaker 1: name was Chrissy Kachansky and that if anybody remembers Wed Dwarf.
- 30:30Speaker 1: She was also in a film called Gregory's Girl Classic film.
- 30:35Speaker 1: And this is Claire Grogan and Altered Images. And this
- 30:38Speaker 1: one's called Don't Talk to Me About Love Kalaire Grogan
- 31:08Speaker 1: and Altered Images. Can't wait to go to the Tunbridge
- 31:10Speaker 1: Wells Forum and meet her again. I had a photo
- 31:12Speaker 1: taken a few years ago when she appeared at the
- 31:15Speaker 1: Leeds Cliff All and I've blown that up and I'm
- 31:17Speaker 1: going to get that sign. Oh, very nice to put
- 31:19Speaker 1: it in a frame, grout. He loves his live music.
- 31:23Speaker 1: It's Madness tomorrow as well.
- 31:24Speaker 2: Oh yeah Canterbury, Yeah yeah, my friend Adam Dowling that
- 31:27Speaker 2: I used to work with Radio Kin and here in
- 31:30Speaker 2: fact he was on the studio on the stage. Sorry,
- 31:33Speaker 2: there's Jay Less and a few other people up there
- 31:36Speaker 2: to Canterbury. Right, So just quick shout out for folksing
- 31:41Speaker 2: Victor gorn Adrian Well.
- 31:43Speaker 1: As I say today we are at home to Walton
- 31:47Speaker 1: and Hersham in the National League South, our very very
- 31:49Speaker 1: first attempt at this higher level. He promises to be
- 31:53Speaker 1: a hard season. I think new signings have come in
- 32:00Speaker 1: Joe pig At our star player wearing the number thirty
- 32:03Speaker 1: nine shirt this season, a lot big things are expected
- 32:06Speaker 1: of him. Get yourself down to the Alkalin Stadium at
- 32:09Speaker 1: three pm kick off this afternoon. You can paign on
- 32:12Speaker 1: the gates, or you can go online and book it
- 32:15Speaker 1: on the Folks in Victor website, or if you can't
- 32:18Speaker 1: get to the ground this afternoon, you can always tune
- 32:21Speaker 1: into Seasiders Radio with me and Charlie and we'll give
- 32:25Speaker 1: you the full commentary from three pm. Looking forward to it,
- 32:29Speaker 1: it's going to be a really good game today. Watman
- 32:33Speaker 1: and Hersham came up with us or came up as
- 32:36Speaker 1: champions of the Southern League Premier Division I believe it was,
- 32:41Speaker 1: and we was obviously in the Esman Premier League. So
- 32:44Speaker 1: it's both our debuts in the National League South, so clash. Yeah,
- 32:50Speaker 1: it's going to be an interesting game and sort of
- 32:52Speaker 1: like a market to see where we're going to be
- 32:54Speaker 1: for the rest of the season. Unfortunately, next must have
- 32:57Speaker 1: to say something about Absolutely United currently bended from the
- 33:00Speaker 1: National League South and it doesn't both too well. I
- 33:03Speaker 1: think they could be chunt out of.
- 33:06Speaker 2: The league by the administration.
- 33:08Speaker 1: Yeah, financial troubles HMC have stuck a winding up order
- 33:13Speaker 1: on them. So it's not looking good for Absolute United,
- 33:16Speaker 1: but onwards and upwards for folksing in Victor. There'll be
- 33:19Speaker 1: no game for Folks in the Victor next Saturday because
- 33:21Speaker 1: we were supposed to play AB's Fleet and of course
- 33:23Speaker 1: they've been suspended. So yeah, it's not looking good for them.
- 33:27Speaker 2: Okay, no it's not so. But anyway, Brighton turn into
- 33:30Speaker 2: some cricket. Now. Every week I pick on six local
- 33:34Speaker 2: cricket teams and give out the first team results. And
- 33:37Speaker 2: if you remember last week, Adrian, we had five wins
- 33:40Speaker 2: out six. Yeah, well this week was amazing. I was
- 33:43Speaker 2: going through going through the teams, folks In one, Hawkins one,
- 33:48Speaker 2: hythe one hythe Green one, Saltwood one, so that's five
- 33:52Speaker 2: out of the sixth. I got to Sipton Park and
- 33:55Speaker 2: I thought, oh, please be a full house and when
- 33:57Speaker 2: I found the result, it said match abandoned. Abandoned. Yeah,
- 34:01Speaker 2: so I thought abandoned what is that? And so I
- 34:05Speaker 2: couldn't find anymore for a couple of days and I
- 34:09Speaker 2: went on to I found a player. His dad goes
- 34:11Speaker 2: to watches, so I asked his dad. I said, well,
- 34:14Speaker 2: because I was thinking it can't be the weather. I
- 34:18Speaker 2: thought it must be a serious injury or something like that. Anyway,
- 34:21Speaker 2: apparently it was the weather. A huge thunderstorm came over
- 34:27Speaker 2: and absolutely blitzed the pitch for about half an hour
- 34:31Speaker 2: at some Simpton Park. It was just outside limite. Yeah, yeah,
- 34:34Speaker 2: I mean, if you remember when we came in last Saturday,
- 34:37Speaker 2: there was there was yeah, and now I think there
- 34:39Speaker 2: were sporadic outbursts of rain over the county because the
- 34:43Speaker 2: report which was then made public was that, yeah, there
- 34:47Speaker 2: was a massive, massive downpour. It sort of flooded the
- 34:50Speaker 2: pitch nearly and when they came out, they couldn't play
- 34:53Speaker 2: and it was getting dark anyway, so they abandoned the game.
- 34:56Speaker 2: So I never got my six out of six again. Okay, right, okay,
- 35:00Speaker 2: so we've done a little bit of waffling, so we're
- 35:03Speaker 2: going to come to you first, Shelley, and this is
- 35:06Speaker 2: time to wrap it up. Anything you want to say
- 35:10Speaker 2: about the women's section, Thank you, hellos, hello to the
- 35:14Speaker 2: budgie at home, anything, Hey, thank.
- 35:17Speaker 4: You, it's been great being on.
- 35:19Speaker 7: I think, yeah, if you'll have us back again, I'm
- 35:21Speaker 7: sure we'll yeah, definitely come back.
- 35:23Speaker 4: But yeah, just thank you.
- 35:24Speaker 7: Really, the saying is it takes a village, and certainly
- 35:27Speaker 7: with women's sport and our team, and I know a
- 35:30Speaker 7: lot of teams across Kent, it always takes more than
- 35:35Speaker 7: just the captain and the coach and Ash our manager
- 35:38Speaker 7: as well. So there's lots of women in our team
- 35:40Speaker 7: that are really putting so much into this. Maddie runs
- 35:43Speaker 7: our social media and does you know and Maddie and
- 35:46Speaker 7: Miranda they do a lot behind the scenes in terms
- 35:49Speaker 7: of like sponsorship and trying to generate players through social
- 35:53Speaker 7: media to come to So I'll shout out our media,
- 35:56Speaker 7: our Instagram which is Folks and Ladies, so go give
- 35:58Speaker 7: us a follow and all. So if anyone's intrigued by
- 36:02Speaker 7: women's rugby, if you're watching it, there's been a big
- 36:05Speaker 7: increase in the number of people that are watching it
- 36:07Speaker 7: and fans now and you want a team, you might
- 36:10Speaker 7: have just moved to the area, you might have been
- 36:11Speaker 7: here for a long time, please come along. We train
- 36:14Speaker 7: on Tuesdays at seven pm, train for two hours and
- 36:17Speaker 7: it's just a great it's just so nice to be
- 36:21Speaker 7: a part of such a family. So we train at
- 36:25Speaker 7: Folks and Rugby Club which is Newington Burlington.
- 36:30Speaker 4: Fields, I don't actually know the actual dress. I just
- 36:32Speaker 4: turn off.
- 36:34Speaker 7: I've been going there for so long. Yeah, just google
- 36:37Speaker 7: it folks and Rugby club. But yeah, it's really and
- 36:40Speaker 7: actually it's one of the best clubs in the Kent.
- 36:42Speaker 7: What we go to will We're not biased, but is
- 36:45Speaker 7: the well kept and nice showers and clean and they're
- 36:51Speaker 7: very good. So yeah, please come along.
- 36:52Speaker 2: Okay, so is he over to you now there's anything
- 36:55Speaker 2: you want to say, any thank yous, hello to your
- 36:57Speaker 2: mum or anything your brothers and sisters come right in.
- 37:00Speaker 5: Yes, No, I think Shelley's covered it all. Thank you
- 37:02Speaker 5: to everyone that makes it run because without the coaches,
- 37:05Speaker 5: without Shelley going and doing it and Maddie on the
- 37:08Speaker 5: social media, we've gained so many players this season and
- 37:11Speaker 5: managed to bring so many people back, especially after the
- 37:14Speaker 5: girls section, so definitely a lot.
- 37:17Speaker 7: I'll also add Megan West has been quite key and
- 37:20Speaker 7: bring in so many players back, whether it be and
- 37:24Speaker 7: she's been like pivotal and kind of like driving this
- 37:28Speaker 7: team forward and getting so many players.
- 37:30Speaker 4: Whether that be through her work or through.
- 37:33Speaker 7: Us coming back and trying to get her old teammates back,
- 37:36Speaker 7: which she has finally done.
- 37:37Speaker 2: Okay, so we're going to have to find a word
- 37:39Speaker 2: from the boss, sir, Liam, if you've got any thank
- 37:41Speaker 2: you to say.
- 37:42Speaker 3: I mean both the most have been covered. Shelley stole
- 37:45Speaker 3: that from from me. And Ashley my wife who's been
- 37:48Speaker 3: doing all the admin side for me because my admin
- 37:52Speaker 3: is awful, so she does all the speaking to the
- 37:55Speaker 3: r A few any questions that we have go straight
- 37:57Speaker 3: to them through her. Sorry, and obviously my other coach,
- 38:01Speaker 3: Markos massively helps me stands by my side, does all that.
- 38:06Speaker 3: But what I'd like to say is that folks in
- 38:10Speaker 3: the rugby club here, especially for the ladies and the men,
- 38:13Speaker 3: it's it's more of a family. I know rugby can
- 38:15Speaker 3: be quite scary and being hit as hard as well
- 38:18Speaker 3: people that want to hit you, tackling people as are
- 38:22Speaker 3: that you can. It's obviously very scary, but it's more
- 38:24Speaker 3: than just rugby. It's definitely a family and friends.
- 38:28Speaker 2: The community, isn't it. I know more one hundred neal
- 38:31Speaker 2: defeats then cheerlie.
- 38:33Speaker 4: No, we do that to other teams.
- 38:35Speaker 2: Yeah, that's right, it's great.
- 38:36Speaker 6: Yeah, I wouldn't allow it, Kevin would not allow.
- 38:38Speaker 2: It's thing you're all for coming in. It's been a
- 38:41Speaker 2: great morning. And you know, I just I hope the
- 38:44Speaker 2: word gets out and what a lovely club it is
- 38:47Speaker 2: and your membership goes up and and that you have
- 38:50Speaker 2: a great season Chili.
- 38:51Speaker 6: Thank you, thank you very much.
- 38:53Speaker 1: You're modern welcome. And as I said, have a good
- 38:56Speaker 1: lookout at the Instagram. Got a bit but a Facebook
- 38:58Speaker 1: page as well.
- 38:59Speaker 7: We don't have the Facebook. We use Instagram a lot.
- 39:01Speaker 7: We do have the website. But if you do, yeah,
- 39:04Speaker 7: go on folks on ladies Instagram and follow us the men.
- 39:09Speaker 1: Okay, well make sure you do check that one out.
- 39:13Speaker 1: And yeah, hopefully you'll get a few more people even
- 39:16Speaker 1: if they want to come over and watch as well.
- 39:18Speaker 1: And I'm sure you're all you'll want to get as
- 39:22Speaker 1: many people over there as you possibly can.
- 39:24Speaker 3: So as men say, someone that does quite a lot
- 39:27Speaker 3: for the name behind the scenes, he doesn't like to
- 39:31Speaker 3: kind of stand out with that. I will try and
- 39:35Speaker 3: get him onto the show for you does a lot
- 39:37Speaker 3: for that club.
- 39:38Speaker 2: We've been being leave for a long long time and
- 39:40Speaker 2: every time he says, yes, it's on my hit list.
- 39:42Speaker 2: But I know he's busy, and you know, Saturdays is
- 39:46Speaker 2: a tough call. If they's training on or even a
- 39:48Speaker 2: match day. But yeah, I'll determined to get him in
- 39:51Speaker 2: and some youngsters in. So running out of time now, agents.
- 39:54Speaker 1: Yeah, okay, we'll go out with with a bit of
- 39:58Speaker 1: a bang. Thank you very much to our guest this
- 40:01Speaker 1: after this morning, this afternoon, as I say, thank you
- 40:04Speaker 1: very much for coming. keV will be back here with me.
- 40:08Speaker 2: I've got a bit of a break now. Actually won't
- 40:10Speaker 2: be back on Thursday. I wish I was back on Thursday,
- 40:13Speaker 2: but I'll be down in hostings with the grand children
- 40:15Speaker 2: and they're only sort of seven nine and all. Well yeah, yeah,
- 40:21Speaker 2: I'm not sure about next Saturday. I'll let you know,
- 40:23Speaker 2: but you'll be back, won't ye.
- 40:24Speaker 1: I'll be back, yes, No game on next Saturday. I
- 40:26Speaker 1: don't know what to do with myself anyway. Thank you
- 40:28Speaker 1: very much for listening this morning. As I say, I'll
- 40:31Speaker 1: be back again next Saturday. Thank you to our guests
- 40:33Speaker 1: this morning, and I leave you out to this one
- 40:36Speaker 1: from Duran Duran and have you to a kill. See
- 40:39Speaker 1: you next week, Busy Babe By
