  Speaker 2: and so hopefully Friday night gives the opportunity for as

  Speaker 2: the committee of the club's been working tirelessly behind the scenes,

  Speaker 2: we've actually recruited really well local base and you know,
• 1:59
  Speaker 2: we've got some quality of players across, which you know,

  Speaker 2: we really need that experience. But to have Gary to

  Speaker 2: top it off, you know, it just helps drive that

  Speaker 2: message that we're we're trying to really improve our community

  Speaker 1: Yeah, I think it's great to hear and you know,

  Speaker 1: anything that can sort of you know, that can help

  Speaker 1: the sport as well and draw more people to taking

  Speaker 1: part in AFL and being part of a club is

  Speaker 1: obviously a wonderful thing. You've also got Eddie Betts. So

  Speaker 1: is he playing the whole season or how long is

  Speaker 2: Yeah, we're working with Eddie on his availability as well,

  Speaker 2: and fantastics a resign him and we were really excited,

  Speaker 2: Like he came up last year and was massive for us,

  Speaker 2: and you know, his injection you know, really bolted the
• 2:44
  Speaker 2: group and I think it really got the community, the

  Speaker 2: AFL community excited up here as well. So you know,

  Speaker 2: really happy to have him back and his input into

  Speaker 2: the coaching side of things as well as the playing

  Speaker 2: side of things. And he's just really trying to engage
• 2:58
  Speaker 2: with the communities and get out to digitus communities up

  Speaker 2: here as well.

  Speaker 1: Yeah, that's a wonderful thing, you know when they are

  Speaker 1: able to get out and be part of the community

  Speaker 1: too and and engage with some of the youngsters that

  Speaker 1: are keen to play.

  Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, it's exciting for them. I mean, you know,

  Speaker 2: we get limited AFL games up here and you know,
• 3:17
  Speaker 2: we obviously have some some draftees that go through and
• 3:20
  Speaker 2: come back back home, but to be able to give
• 3:25
  Speaker 2: exposure to more people in the territory with these types
• 3:28
  Speaker 2: of players is just fantastic.

  Speaker 1: Now, what's been the reaction from you know, from the
• 3:34
  Speaker 1: boys and girls in the club that they are going
• 3:36
  Speaker 1: to obviously have Gary Ablett junior there playing a game.

  Speaker 2: Yeah, no, everyone's very excited. There's a few people that
• 3:44
  Speaker 2: just a little bit disbelief, I think, but you know,
• 3:48
  Speaker 2: it sort of all comes comes with the attraction of him,
• 3:50
  Speaker 2: so it would just be added value. As I said,
• 3:54
  Speaker 2: the fact that we potentially will have Eddie and Gary
• 3:57
  Speaker 2: running around and obviously made so who really helped get

  Speaker 2: this this done? You know he's past past junior, past
• 4:06
  Speaker 2: the Magpie and and a premiership player at the AFL level.

  Speaker 2: So we're stoked to have all of them on board.

  Speaker 1: So talk us through how exactly did you make this happen?

  Speaker 1: Were you all having a couple of beers and thought,

  Speaker 1: do you know what we should see whether we can

  Speaker 1: get applet to come and play a game.

  Speaker 2: Oh look, it wasn't wasn't probably engaged by us initially.

  Speaker 2: It was definitely something that was I think on the

  Speaker 2: conversation with Stokes and Gary down down to Victoria and
• 4:32
  Speaker 2: I think it just sort of grew from there, maybe
• 4:34
  Speaker 2: a conversation and then you know they sort of approached
• 4:38
  Speaker 2: us with the idea and yeah, we've eventually got got
• 4:43
  Speaker 2: it done.

  Speaker 1: Good on you. It sounds like it's going to be

  Speaker 1: you know, it's going to be awesome and a wonderful

  Speaker 1: thing obviously for the footy club. And mate, how things

  Speaker 1: progressing or how are your prep? How's your prep going

  Speaker 1: as you know, as we edge closer to the season

  Speaker 2: Yeah, pre seas have been really good. As I said,

  Speaker 2: we sort of recruited pretty well in the off season,

  Speaker 2: so we've had pretty good numbers at training which is

  Speaker 2: really exciting. And I think, yeah, we're just sort of

  Speaker 2: getting things in place nicely and we're hopefully prepping up
• 5:14
  Speaker 2: for a really strong Round one one performance.
