- 0:00Speaker 1: We want to know what's the craziest real reason you
- 0:04Speaker 1: were late or didn't show up for work or an
- 0:06Speaker 1: event eight seven seven nine three seven one four seven.
- 0:11Speaker 2: Mike, good morning, Good morning.
- 0:15Speaker 1: So what is the real crazy reason you were later
- 0:18Speaker 1: didn't show for work?
- 0:20Speaker 2: Uh?
- 0:20Speaker 3: There was one time a couple.
- 0:23Speaker 4: Of years ago or not a few years ago.
- 0:26Speaker 3: I had, uh went from Greenway.
- 0:30Speaker 4: In the I seventeen on my way to work and
- 0:33Speaker 4: got to about Bethany Home Northern to get gas.
- 0:37Speaker 2: And as I was.
- 0:38Speaker 4: Getting gas, all I hear is now in the background,
- 0:42Speaker 4: and I'm like, what is going on? Apparently I took
- 0:45Speaker 4: a cat all the way down the seventeen, uh, and
- 0:48Speaker 4: they were as in my wheelwall.
- 0:51Speaker 3: And it lived it lift it okay?
- 0:55Speaker 4: Called I had to call my boss and be like, yo.
- 0:59Speaker 3: I needed I have a cat.
- 1:01Speaker 4: I needed to bring it back home. So got the
- 1:04Speaker 4: cat out, brought it back home, and yeah, it was
- 1:06Speaker 4: late to work. But quite a story.
- 1:08Speaker 1: Did you let the cat ride on the wheel well
- 1:11Speaker 1: on the way home too?
- 1:12Speaker 2: Or did you take it out?
- 1:14Speaker 5: No?
- 1:14Speaker 4: No, maybe we took it out. I had this random
- 1:17Speaker 4: guy at the gas station helped me take it out.
- 1:19Speaker 1: So there was really a cat. It was on Aprilfol's
- 1:22Speaker 1: Day listening to our radio frat. I'm like, whoa he
- 1:24Speaker 1: someone took that Aplefol's Day joke a whole new level.
- 1:26Speaker 2: That means if you ever hear a cat, it might
- 1:28Speaker 2: be in your wheel. Well, it might not be an
- 1:29Speaker 2: ample Fool's Day thing.
- 1:31Speaker 4: Wow, all right, the platform I was sitting on was
- 1:34Speaker 4: very tiny. I don't understand how it survives.
- 1:36Speaker 2: Well, thanks for sharing that with us.
- 1:38Speaker 4: Mike, Yeah, no problem.
- 1:40Speaker 2: Not a fun day too, Susie.
- 1:42Speaker 1: Give us the real crazy reason you were late for
- 1:45Speaker 1: work or miss work.
- 1:47Speaker 5: Well. I live in a rural part of Idaho. It's
- 1:53Speaker 5: called the Wood River Valley. It's where the ski resort
- 1:56Speaker 5: Sun Valley is located, and there are a lot of
- 2:02Speaker 5: sheep ranchers here and one day I was headed to
- 2:05Speaker 5: work and heading down there's only one road to get
- 2:09Speaker 5: up and down the valley. Were hundreds of sheep just
- 2:14Speaker 5: walking down the road because they take them to the
- 2:17Speaker 5: mountains in the summertime and then they bring him down
- 2:21Speaker 5: in the fall. And I was probably about a half
- 2:25Speaker 5: hour late, just waiting for the sheep to.
- 2:27Speaker 6: Get out of my way.
- 2:33Speaker 5: I didn't I wish. I mean, we still can because
- 2:35Speaker 5: they still do it, but now they kind of head
- 2:39Speaker 5: them down the bike path.
- 2:41Speaker 4: Wow.
- 2:43Speaker 5: It was crazy. And when I got to work, this
- 2:45Speaker 5: woman was on the phone and she's like, oh, traffic
- 2:48Speaker 5: was crazy. I'm like, oh, did you get stuck in
- 2:50Speaker 5: the sheep too, And she's like, thought I was insane.
- 2:53Speaker 5: She's like, no, like actual.
- 2:55Speaker 4: Cars, thanks, Susie.
- 3:02Speaker 2: Yep, let me too.
- 3:04Speaker 1: Like there's a a we posted on Facebook Domingus is
- 3:08Speaker 1: I live in a rural place, only one street in
- 3:10Speaker 1: and out.
- 3:11Speaker 2: It ran.
- 3:12Speaker 1: It rained so bad the street flooded and we cannot
- 3:14Speaker 1: go through until the lowered. Then the street was flooded
- 3:17Speaker 1: with frogs, so we went over the road. We hit
- 3:20Speaker 1: frogs that kept hearing squishing of frogs.
- 3:25Speaker 2: Autumn. Hello, Hi, tell us a real crazy reason you
- 3:30Speaker 2: were late for work or you missed work?
- 3:33Speaker 3: Okay? So I used to commute from Red Rock to
- 3:36Speaker 3: Tucson for work and I was on I ten at
- 3:40Speaker 3: about six thirty in the morning driving in my non
- 3:44Speaker 3: aerodynamics vehicle. I was driving the Queube at the time,
- 3:48Speaker 3: and I got pulled over for speeding and the DPS
- 3:52Speaker 3: officer who pulled me over said that he clocks me
- 3:55Speaker 3: at going one hundred and ten miles an hour, and
- 3:58Speaker 3: he had to bring first to his radar three times
- 4:02Speaker 3: to even comprehend that that's how fast I was going.
- 4:05Speaker 2: Oh, no, you were.
- 4:09Speaker 6: Just trying to get there.
- 4:10Speaker 2: Wow. Okay, all right, thanks.
- 4:16Speaker 6: Autumn, You're welcome.
- 4:18Speaker 2: Have a great gay eight seven.
- 4:19Speaker 1: Seven nine seven four seven Here Nick on Facebook says,
- 4:23Speaker 1: my brother got arrested with my only set of car keys.
- 4:26Speaker 2: Oh that's terrible.
- 4:28Speaker 1: Yeah right, you can't. That's why you relate to work
- 4:30Speaker 1: when you're telling your boss my brother got arrested. Car
- 4:34Speaker 1: caught fire on the freeway, cut off my finger making
- 4:37Speaker 1: my morning bagel.
- 4:38Speaker 2: Oh my gosh.
- 4:41Speaker 1: Dog swallowed my key fob. Craziest reason you were later
- 4:45Speaker 1: didn't show up for a work or an event. The
- 4:47Speaker 1: guy next door was holding his family hostage and swat
- 4:50Speaker 1: was all over our block and we were on lockdown.
- 4:52Speaker 3: Oh my gosh, terrifing.
- 4:54Speaker 1: Eight seven seven nine three seven four seven. We want
- 4:57Speaker 1: to hear from.
- 4:58Speaker 5: You next te sasday, haven't you say?
- 5:10Speaker 2: Four seven Kiss FM John Jay and Rich Chris, Good morning.
- 5:13Speaker 6: Good morning, Hi Sanjay.
- 5:14Speaker 2: Nice.
- 5:15Speaker 1: So we were doing that thing right about the craziest
- 5:17Speaker 1: reason you were late to work?
- 5:19Speaker 6: Real reason, yes, real reason. Okay, are you ready to start?
- 5:24Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 5:26Speaker 6: Okay. So one morning, I was the last person to
- 5:30Speaker 6: leave the house, which is super unusual. But I was
- 5:32Speaker 6: walking downstairs and I noticed in our living room there
- 5:36Speaker 6: was what I thought was a very big lizard on
- 5:39Speaker 6: the wall. We have two cats and they love to
- 5:41Speaker 6: bring us presents, and the most popular present is a lizard.
- 5:45Speaker 6: So I thought, okay, I gotta get this lizard. But
- 5:47Speaker 6: I kept walking towards it, and I realized, oh my god,
- 5:50Speaker 6: it's not only going up the wall, but it's down
- 5:52Speaker 6: onto the carpet and it's like three feet long and
- 5:55Speaker 6: there's no feet and oh my god, it's a space.
- 5:58Speaker 3: No, no, no, no no.
- 6:00Speaker 6: I lose my mind because I am terrified of snakes. Luckily,
- 6:06Speaker 6: I had my phone in my hand, and I call
- 6:08Speaker 6: my husband, who's at work, and I'm like barely getting
- 6:11Speaker 6: out the words, there's a snake in our living room.
- 6:13Speaker 6: There's a snake in our living room. And he's like,
- 6:15Speaker 6: he doesn't believe me, but he eventually does. He races home.
- 6:18Speaker 6: He tells me much later that he ran two bed
- 6:21Speaker 6: lights to get home. He gets home, he walks into
- 6:24Speaker 6: the house carrying a towel and I'm like, and he
- 6:27Speaker 6: comes and I haven't moved. I'm standing in the exact
- 6:30Speaker 6: same spot as when I saw the snake, because I
- 6:32Speaker 6: think if I leave my spot and the snake moves
- 6:34Speaker 6: and we don't see it, then I'm moving out of
- 6:36Speaker 6: this house. Yeah, oh fine, never coming back. So I
- 6:40Speaker 6: had been standing on the staircase the whole time, like
- 6:43Speaker 6: just shaking. So my husband comes in with a towel
- 6:46Speaker 6: and like, a towel, what's the cow going to do?
- 6:48Speaker 6: And he goes back out. We talked about it for
- 6:50Speaker 6: a second. He goes back outside me brings the fox.
- 6:53Speaker 6: He's like, okay, I'm gonna put it under. I'm going
- 6:54Speaker 6: to get it and I'm going to put it under
- 6:55Speaker 6: a box and then you know, we'll figure it out
- 6:57Speaker 6: from there. And he sends me upstairs, and I'm like, okay,
- 7:01Speaker 6: thank god, I don't have to be around for this.
- 7:03Speaker 6: So I go back upstairs, and after a little bit,
- 7:05Speaker 6: I hear this super loud commotion and my husband's name
- 7:09Speaker 6: is Monty. He calls me back downstairs. I'm like, no,
- 7:12Speaker 6: I don't want to go back down there. I go
- 7:13Speaker 6: back downstairs and I see the box upside down in
- 7:16Speaker 6: the middle of the living room. I don't see the snake.
- 7:17Speaker 6: I'm like, okay, we got the snake. But he's yelling
- 7:20Speaker 6: at me from another room, and I go in that
- 7:23Speaker 6: room and the cat brought in this giant bird and
- 7:26Speaker 6: he's like, yes, I needed the towel, and he's got
- 7:29Speaker 6: the bird in the towel and he has me open
- 7:32Speaker 6: the sliding glass of the word and he releases the
- 7:35Speaker 6: bird and we both come in the house and we're
- 7:37Speaker 6: walking by the living room where this boxes, and I
- 7:40Speaker 6: continue to go upstairs, souse, I don't want to be
- 7:41Speaker 6: anywhere around the snake, and I hear him say he
- 7:45Speaker 6: lifts up the box and he's like, oh, f where
- 7:48Speaker 6: did it go?
- 7:53Speaker 5: No, no, no.
- 7:54Speaker 6: I immediately I'm like that's it. I'm getting help, and
- 7:58Speaker 6: I go running out the front door and I go
- 8:01Speaker 6: down the block about three houses because we have a
- 8:03Speaker 6: neighbor who is a police officer but also super in
- 8:06Speaker 6: the camping and hunting. So I go running to his
- 8:09Speaker 6: house and I'm ringing the doorbell and nobody answers. I'm like, okay,
- 8:13Speaker 6: what do I do? So I'm going back towards our
- 8:15Speaker 6: house and I notice a house that's directly across the street.
- 8:18Speaker 6: Something catches my eye and I look at it and
- 8:21Speaker 6: my brain is like scrambled this morning already with the
- 8:24Speaker 6: snake and the bird, and I don't believe what I'm seeing.
- 8:27Speaker 6: The garbage can of this house is completely on fire
- 8:31Speaker 6: and it's up against their garage door, and there's a
- 8:34Speaker 6: big tree that's right next to it. And I'm like,
- 8:38Speaker 6: oh my gosh, this neighbor's house is going to burn down,
- 8:42Speaker 6: and this tree is going to catch on fire, and
- 8:44Speaker 6: then another's neighbor house is going to burn down, and
- 8:46Speaker 6: what kind of crazy morning is this? And I don't.
- 8:50Speaker 6: I go running back in the house and I yelled
- 8:53Speaker 6: call nine one one, and he turns to me and
- 8:55Speaker 6: he said for a snake. I'm like yes, but I said,
- 9:00Speaker 6: know our neighbor's house is on fire. And he comes
- 9:03Speaker 6: outside and mewlis. He's like, oh my god. So I
- 9:05Speaker 6: dial nine one one, but I am a complete blubbering mess.
- 9:09Speaker 6: I mean, they're like, Okay, where.
- 9:11Speaker 5: Do you live?
- 9:11Speaker 6: And I'm like, here, I live here.
- 9:13Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 9:17Speaker 6: Finally get out the address, which took me a while,
- 9:20Speaker 6: and I could tell They're like, Okay, this lady is
- 9:23Speaker 6: insane and as I'm on the phone with nine one one,
- 9:27Speaker 6: a police car rolls up and I could tell that
- 9:30Speaker 6: they are rolling up to see check out my story.
- 9:33Speaker 6: And the next thing I know, the police officer. I
- 9:35Speaker 6: can see him on his radio, and then I hear
- 9:38Speaker 6: fire sirens and everything, and they show up. And it
- 9:42Speaker 6: turns out our neighbor deals with sodium sodium metal. I
- 9:51Speaker 6: got my husband here, he's helping sodium metal. He acts really,
- 9:56Speaker 6: it acts really badly to water. It explodes And the
- 10:01Speaker 6: fire department knew this because when they moved in, they
- 10:03Speaker 6: had to tell the fire department this. So they completely
- 10:06Speaker 6: shut down the block because if the explodes, it could
- 10:09Speaker 6: blow up that house and the house right next door
- 10:11Speaker 6: to it.
- 10:12Speaker 2: Oh, if they were just these.
- 10:15Speaker 6: You can't hit it with a hose. Okay, the water
- 10:19Speaker 6: will cause the sodium metal to explode, which I guess
- 10:23Speaker 6: is the cool thing about sodium metal.
- 10:25Speaker 4: Who knew and that's why.
- 10:27Speaker 2: And that's why you were late to work? Well no,
- 10:31Speaker 2: so no, I couldn't sew my shoes. Guys.
- 10:37Speaker 6: So the block is completely shut down by the fire department.
- 10:40Speaker 6: Now not all the neighbors are coming out, and including
- 10:43Speaker 6: our police officer. Neighbor who had been in the shower
- 10:46Speaker 6: when I stopped by, and Monte goes up to him
- 10:48Speaker 6: and is like, hey, man, can I borrow you for
- 10:50Speaker 6: a second. We got a snake in our house. And
- 10:51Speaker 6: he's like, oh, sure, what kind of snake is? It
- 10:54Speaker 6: is a rattlesnake And Monty's like, I don't think so,
- 10:57Speaker 6: and he's like sure, okay, just second. So this is
- 10:59Speaker 6: where I the story gets funny is our neighbor grabs
- 11:03Speaker 6: goes into his garage, grabs one glove, comes walking into
- 11:07Speaker 6: our house with one glove and opens the box and
- 11:10Speaker 6: I guess the snake had curled up. It's like this
- 11:12Speaker 6: three foot long snake that it curled up under the
- 11:14Speaker 6: flat and it's like jumping at him. And our neighbor goes, wow,
- 11:18Speaker 6: this snake is. Matt reaches into the box and grabs
- 11:21Speaker 6: the snake with his unngloved hand.
- 11:25Speaker 2: What was the I don't know.
- 11:34Speaker 6: I think it was a rattlesnake. I don't know, but
- 11:39Speaker 6: the fire ended up being put out. Our neighbor rescued
- 11:43Speaker 6: us from the snake that he well, no, we rescued
- 11:47Speaker 6: ourselves from the bird because we let it free with
- 11:49Speaker 6: a towel that my husband initially walked into the house
- 11:52Speaker 6: with and then so then the next thing you know,
- 11:56Speaker 6: we have all these neighbors standing outside watching the fire
- 11:58Speaker 6: department with this fire. We've got an other neighbor walking
- 12:01Speaker 6: around with his snake in his hand that he had
- 12:04Speaker 6: killed because I was like, no, if you don't kill
- 12:07Speaker 6: the snake, I'm moving. And it was just the craziest day.
- 12:10Speaker 6: And I ended up making it to work before lunch.
- 12:12Speaker 2: But you were late to work. I'd love to hear thatways.
- 12:15Speaker 6: Very late to work. I was about three and a
- 12:17Speaker 6: half hours later to work.
- 12:18Speaker 2: Do you still work there?
- 12:21Speaker 6: I don't. At the time, I worked at a hospital
- 12:24Speaker 6: and now I switched. I work in the school system.
- 12:26Speaker 1: Okay, that's got to be Lore at the hospital. What
- 12:32Speaker 1: she sounds like following you around, Krista and Monte, thank
- 12:36Speaker 1: you guys for calling the show.
- 12:37Speaker 2: Thank you for listening. What a great story.
- 12:39Speaker 6: Oh hey, we love you. Thank you. You make my
- 12:42Speaker 6: morning every morning. You make it so easy to get
- 12:44Speaker 6: up and then you make me laugh and just brighten
- 12:47Speaker 6: my day. So thank you guys so much for everything.
- 12:49Speaker 2: I have a great day.
