- 0:27PG filling in for the World Traveler himself, Mike Gill.
- 0:30He's on a boat cruise. He just sends us during
- 0:32the break that he's on a boat cruise, so hopefully
- 0:35he's having a good time on vacation. But now we
- 0:38are gonna go to Jeff P. Mosher. You know, we
- 0:42got to enter him into the principal's office, remember that one,
- 0:45So we got to enter him back in. It's Football
- 0:47at four brought to you by Ocean Casino Resort. Jeff
- 0:52good to talk to you today. The big news. The
- 0:55big news today is that Landon Dickerson's injury gets hurt
- 1:00during the open practice and it comes out today. Adam
- 1:05Schefter reports it is a meniscus injury. So with that
- 1:09being said, We don't know how much time it is
- 1:12going to take for him to come back. However, we'll
- 1:17see if he can get it going and get back
- 1:19on the field as soon as he can. Jeff, what
- 1:21do you make of the Landon Dickerson injury?
- 1:24Speaker 2: Not good?
- 1:25Speaker 3: Not good, especially when you hear a knee and meniscus.
- 1:28And I know all the Sixers fans have probably heard
- 1:31enough about that to want to hear that about Landon Dickerson.
- 1:34Speaker 2: Now, the meniscus is tricky, fellas.
- 1:39Speaker 3: I remember Todd Harriman's once had a trim done and
- 1:45he missed a game.
- 1:47Speaker 2: Then the Eagles had the bye week.
- 1:48Speaker 3: And then I think they played on like a Monday
- 1:50night the week after that or Sunday night, and he
- 1:52played in that game. So between like incision the game,
- 1:55you know, it was like three week recovery there for
- 1:58Todd with the bye week mixed in, and he was fine.
- 2:02And you know that's why Landon's probably getting this second
- 2:05opinion to figure out can this be done with a trim?
- 2:08Is it more than that as a partial tear? Is
- 2:11it a full tear? You know, I'm no doctor and
- 2:14I'm no expert, but I think you guys know, when
- 2:16someone seeks a second opinion, it's usually because they're not
- 2:19really happy about the first opinion. So it looks like,
- 2:23you know, if this could be the case where Landon
- 2:25Dickerson could be out for weeks and maybe months, depending
- 2:29on what kind of feedback he gets.
- 2:31Speaker 1: Yeah, and the reporting was kind of bland. All it
- 2:34was from Adam Schefter today was it's a moniscous injury
- 2:37to the right knee, So not a ton of information there. However,
- 2:41we know he will probably miss some time. And Jeff,
- 2:45what does that look like for the Eagles on the line?
- 2:47What kind of shuffling can they do? Who do you
- 2:50believe steps into Dickerson's role here? Moving forward? Do they
- 2:55end day, do they go into free agency? Do they
- 2:57use guys they already have on the roster? I mean,
- 2:59they look good to the first preseason game. There was
- 3:01a lot to like from some of those guys. Just
- 3:03talk to me about what you believe the Eagles could
- 3:06do here.
- 3:07Speaker 3: Yeah, so you know, I don't think they're going to
- 3:10go dip into the free agency just yet until they
- 3:13really understand the length and severity.
- 3:16Speaker 2: Of the injury.
- 3:17Speaker 3: So to sort of answer backwards, first, let's say they
- 3:20find out he's out for the year, it's a really
- 3:22long time. Yeah, you could see them maybe signing a
- 3:25guy like Brandon Sherr for Shaq Mason out there. I mean,
- 3:29because those are some guys who played some really good
- 3:31football in their careers. But you know, the Eagles do
- 3:34what they've always done, which is stockpile offensive lineman for
- 3:37scenario like these.
- 3:40Speaker 2: Tyler Steen has played really right guard.
- 3:42Speaker 3: It's not even been a compli an excellent block really
- 3:46with a linebacker flowing downhill on that thirty eight yard
- 3:49run by Will Shipley. But he's also played left guard,
- 3:52so theoretically you can move him to left guard and
- 3:55you could.
- 3:55Speaker 2: Play Matt Pryor at right guard.
- 3:57Speaker 3: Matt Pryor has played right tackle, he's played right guard,
- 4:00and that's year for the Bears. And I actually think
- 4:03he's played better this time around with the Eagles than
- 4:06he did when he was first with the Eagles. Interestingly enough,
- 4:10I thought, I think he's at a decent camp. So
- 4:12could he hold down right guard while Tyler Steen moves
- 4:15to left guard.
- 4:15Speaker 2: Yeah, that's that's possibility.
- 4:17Speaker 3: Or you just keep Tyler Steen at right guard and
- 4:19then maybe try to play prior at left guard. They
- 4:22drafted Trevor Keagan last year. He is really a natural
- 4:25left guard. But I just you know, they're having worked
- 4:28on the third team. He's been trying to play center
- 4:30as they look for another guy who snapped the ball.
- 4:32Speaker 2: I don't think it's gone all that well for him.
- 4:34Speaker 3: Drew Kendall was a kid that they drafted who's most
- 4:36He's the center.
- 4:37Speaker 2: He was a center of Boston College. Right.
- 4:40Speaker 3: You know, obviously everybody's focusing in on the trade that
- 4:44brought Kenyan Green in. But you know, my eyes are
- 4:48telling me right now that Kenyan Green is.
- 4:49Speaker 2: Not the answer.
- 4:50Speaker 3: And unless he has some kind of Patrick Robinson twenty
- 4:53seventeen turnaround in camp, I don't think that he is
- 4:57even going to make the fifty three man roster. But
- 5:00there are several weeks left for them to figure this out.
- 5:03Those are all basically the options that are there, and
- 5:06I you know.
- 5:07Speaker 2: There's two ways to look at these things.
- 5:09Speaker 3: You could say in twenty seventeen, they won the Super
- 5:11Bowl with Steph Wiznowski stepping in the left guard and
- 5:14Vy Tie stepping in a left tackle. I mean they
- 5:17were down two guys stepped in and they won the
- 5:18Super Bowl with a backup quarterback. You know, I'm old
- 5:22enough to remember days like twenty ten where they lost
- 5:25Jamal Jackson at the center, they lost Max jean Zilli's
- 5:28and who's already a backup he lost and they were
- 5:31down really badly there and got killed by the Cowboys.
- 5:34I think it was at the end of the year
- 5:35and in the playoffs. So they have a good infrastructure.
- 5:39But to me, Nick and guys, it's likely lacing one
- 5:42guard right and then to lose maybe another guard. That
- 5:46just shows you can't you go into the season with
- 5:48almost no margin of injury or for the rest of
- 5:50your offensive line.
- 5:52Speaker 4: Yeah, and being at the game on Thursday night, Jeff
- 5:55my site was seeing Kenyon Green just on the sidelines,
- 5:59hand on his hips, holding his helmet for half the game.
- 6:03Speaker 1: So not a lot of faith there in Green.
- 6:05Speaker 4: But going back to Thursday's game, two guys, I wanted
- 6:08to talk to you about the receiver side, Johnny Wilson
- 6:11and Darius Cooper.
- 6:14Speaker 1: Cooper on the bubble of.
- 6:16Speaker 4: Making this fifty three man roster, and really you can
- 6:19mention jahat dots and he had a pretty good first
- 6:22couple series with McKee in there, but Cooper and Wilson
- 6:26talk to me about those two guys.
- 6:28Speaker 3: Yeah, so two totally different guys. I mean, Johnny Wilson
- 6:32is six foot six. And what I really like is
- 6:34two things. First of all, response to adversity. I don't
- 6:37think he had a great first three or four practices
- 6:39in camp, specifically with using his body, especially in the
- 6:43red zone right and in the end zone as a
- 6:45shield or to go over taller defenders and bring the
- 6:48ball in. But ever since then, I thought he's had
- 6:50a nice, nice response, practiced well, started catching the ball better,
- 6:55and you saw in the preseason game certainly a lot
- 6:58of really not only nice cat just the usage. That's
- 7:01number two thing that stands out to me. They're playing
- 7:03a lot in the slot. They're playing them in reduced splits,
- 7:07which means you're not lined out all the way by
- 7:09the numbers. That allows you to sometimes have two way goes.
- 7:13It allows you to do a lot of crossing routes,
- 7:15rub routes, you know, creating space in traffic, and I
- 7:17think Kevin Botula has done a nice job with that
- 7:20so far. And you saw a big connection between McKee
- 7:24and Johnny Wilson. Was sort of that slot fade where
- 7:26he did capitalize on his height over the smaller defenders.
- 7:31I think it's really tough when you have a six
- 7:32to six receiver to figure out where this guy fits best.
- 7:35You want to put him out the X because he's
- 7:36like a big, tall, physical receiver. Okay, but those guys
- 7:39don't tend to be very fluid, and they tend to
- 7:42have stiffer hips and it's hard for them to reverse direction.
- 7:45DK Metcalf is sort of like a dinosa or unicorn,
- 7:48but even he struggles sometimes to throttle down. So a
- 7:51six to six guy is going to have real issues there.
- 7:54And at the same time, it's tough to put him
- 7:55in the slot because they don't have that fluidity that
- 7:58you see those smaller slot receivers tend to have.
- 8:01Speaker 2: But they're figuring it out.
- 8:02Speaker 3: They're finding ways to get him open and we'll see
- 8:05if that can continue throughout the preseason in the regular season. Now,
- 8:08the other kid's a totally different story, rookie free agent
- 8:12out of you know what. You guys all know Taulton
- 8:14State Greek college game. We watch him every Saturday. He
- 8:18probably plays what in front of fifteen hundred people in college.
- 8:21I don't I don't want to speak out of place,
- 8:23but I think it's really amazing for him to come
- 8:25into this environment. And what I like about him compared
- 8:28to other guys in the past that I would call
- 8:29those training camp darlings who do it in camp but
- 8:32then you disappear, is that he's not doing any one
- 8:36thing amazingly like plucking the ball out of mid air
- 8:39or doing anything flucish, sort of like Hank Basket.
- 8:41Speaker 2: Circle two thousand and six.
- 8:43Speaker 3: He's getting a lot of targets, he's getting open, he's
- 8:46catching the ball, he's doing with the second team, and
- 8:48recently he's gotten some first team run and special teams,
- 8:52which shows you that the coaches believe in him, or
- 8:54they at least want to see what he can do
- 8:57when he really plays with, you know, the top guys
- 8:59on so our top guys starter.
- 9:02Speaker 2: So I'm interested to see how his preseason progresses.
- 9:06Speaker 4: Can the Eagles keep both those guys and how much
- 9:08does Jalen Hurts kind of have influence on a spot
- 9:12like that, you know, when it gets down to it, keeping.
- 9:15Speaker 2: Cooper or Wilson none, no offensive Jill Hurts.
- 9:20Speaker 3: I know fans like to think that, you know, like
- 9:22fans like to think that of how he signs a
- 9:24defensive player that Vic Fangio must have signed off Onitor
- 9:27said it was a good signing until he came out
- 9:29and said, sometimes how he signs guys that I don't
- 9:32even watch DAPO like Adri Jackson. Right, it'll be Howie
- 9:35Roseman's decision. Can they keep six receivers?
- 9:38Speaker 2: Yeah, sure you.
- 9:39Speaker 3: Can keep eleven receivers, but then you have to go,
- 9:42you know, only keep one tight end or through running back.
- 9:44Speaker 2: You know, it's all the numbers game.
- 9:46Speaker 3: I think the difficulty to your point, Pete, is that
- 9:49the top three guys are locked in with aj Brown,
- 9:51DeVante Smith and Johan Dotson. And you've got to like
- 9:55what you've seen so far from Johnny Wilson and and
- 9:57I am Smith with the punt hur five right there.
- 10:01So what value are you getting from Darius Cooper as
- 10:04your sixth receiver? You gotta be a special teamer mostly,
- 10:07you know you. Honestly, I feel bad for these guys
- 10:10because usually their production on offense and or defense doesn't
- 10:14really matter. It's can they play in master on special teams.
- 10:18Patrick Johnson two years ago had a great camp he
- 10:22led the team in sacks and hurries tackles for a loss.
- 10:24He made the team, but he never played because he
- 10:27made the team because he's a very good special teamer.
- 10:29Speaker 2: And then that's probably the case with Cooper.
- 10:31Speaker 3: If he's ever gonna be something we'll find out most
- 10:33likely two or three years down the road.
- 10:36Speaker 1: Jeff, I want to stick with wide receiver. One guy
- 10:39that that's definitely gonna have a role on this team
- 10:41and has had a really good summer is Johan Dottson.
- 10:44Made a nice catch at the open practice the other
- 10:46night from Jalen hurts and I want to know is
- 10:49he gonna have an extended role? He didn't get a
- 10:51full camp with the Eagles last year. This year he does.
- 10:54Do you think he's gonna have more of a role
- 10:56in this offense heading into the season.
- 11:00Speaker 3: I appreciate that question, Nick, because I just rattled off
- 11:02like a ten minute answer on wide receivers and you
- 11:04still want to talk.
- 11:06Speaker 2: I guess I did not bore you, guys. I was
- 11:08and worried about that.
- 11:08Speaker 1: At least he's.
- 11:11Speaker 2: Yes, that's true.
- 11:11Speaker 3: It is a great question because of who he is
- 11:15in his skill set makes it a little bit difficult
- 11:18he is not a natural slot wide receiver.
- 11:22Speaker 2: He has played there at Penn State, he played there
- 11:25a little bit.
- 11:25Speaker 3: But when you're talking about having a j Brown DeVante Smith,
- 11:28you know, AJ's your ex Davante is your move Z.
- 11:32You would love for a natural sort of Jason Levant,
- 11:35like slot wide receiver or Nelson Aguil or slot wide
- 11:38receiver who's just comfortable there. So because he's not, what
- 11:42they do is they they run their their alignments differently.
- 11:46Speaker 2: You'll I talked about those reduced splits.
- 11:48Speaker 3: They play the receivers tighter to the line of scrimmage
- 11:52and then run a variety of routes off of that.
- 11:55So that is where they'll probably continue to work Johan
- 11:58Dotson in where you'll see him trips right with Davante
- 12:01and maybe Johnny Wilson or a flex tight end, and
- 12:04then you'll see like this traffic jam of routes which
- 12:07is designed to get guys open, because Johan really doesn't
- 12:11win enough in enough positions on the field by himself
- 12:16to say you are my starting x y Z.
- 12:18Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying.
- 12:20Speaker 3: So that's how they have to do it creatively with him,
- 12:22and they've managed to do it in the past. I
- 12:25think to your question, though, once everybody's healthy and they
- 12:28play a game, and you got targets to aj you
- 12:30got targets Devanta, you got targets in Dallas.
- 12:33Speaker 2: I just don't know how.
- 12:33Speaker 3: And you're gonna throw the ball a little bit more,
- 12:35probably to Saquan or Shipley.
- 12:37Speaker 2: I don't really know on a per game basis, how
- 12:40much more we're talking.
- 12:41Speaker 4: About for Johan defensively, Jeff Ringo, Bennett and adri Jackson.
- 12:49Where do things stand with those three guys they did
- 12:52not have a good showing against Cincinnati and Jamar Chase
- 12:55and Joe Burrow And how important are these joint practices
- 12:58coming up this week with Cleveland for that number, for
- 13:01that CB two.
- 13:02Speaker 2: Job, isn't it? Do you guys ever? Gonna laugh?
- 13:04Speaker 3: Just listening to Vic Fangio and he's talking about Dori
- 13:09Jackson and he said, you know, he's a guy who
- 13:11can really grow and learn from this.
- 13:13Speaker 2: And I'm like, this guy has played eight years.
- 13:17Speaker 3: Nine ye're as a first round pick and his coordinator
- 13:20is telling him he can learn and grow from this.
- 13:23Speaker 2: And by the way, that way he even said it
- 13:24earlier in camp. Oh, he's continuing to grow and learn that.
- 13:28Speaker 4: Is this like a Bryce Huff situation all over again,
- 13:31or I don't think it's that bad.
- 13:33Speaker 2: It's not that bad.
- 13:34Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 13:35Speaker 3: I think that Dory Jackson can can play and give
- 13:37you a baseline level of.
- 13:40Speaker 2: Competition out there.
- 13:41Speaker 3: But to fix point, it's not like anybody's just jumping
- 13:45out there and stealing this job.
- 13:47Speaker 2: It's a hard defense to learn. They do in their
- 13:51Zonne principles.
- 13:52Speaker 3: It's called match carriage delivery, where you're playing his own
- 13:55but you may have man coverage in your area of
- 13:57the zone until you carry and delivered that receiver or
- 14:02tight end right to a different zone and then somebody
- 14:04else picks him up. That stuff is hard to learn overnight.
- 14:07So I think that's the challenge that a Dory and
- 14:10now Jacorey and Bennett face. It should favor Khilley Ringo
- 14:14year two. I think he's got to calm down and
- 14:16just play a little football, you know, and make the
- 14:18tackle when it's there. I thought that that was the
- 14:20worst play over the back shoulder. The back shoulder, you
- 14:23know how many good cornerbacks to give up a back
- 14:25shoulder to Jamar Chase. I mean, he didn't track the
- 14:27ball well but to me, it was the rushed bad
- 14:30tackle that led to the touchdown. That was that Killey Ringo, Right, Yeah,
- 14:34that was the that was issue. But there's there's a
- 14:37lot of time here. I know, it seems like there's
- 14:39not There's still several weeks.
- 14:41Speaker 1: Jeff, I want to stay on the defensive side of things,
- 14:44in the interior defensive line, whether it's Ty Robinson, Byron Young,
- 14:49Gabe Hall, they get rid of Thomas Booker. I thought
- 14:51Vic's answer was interesting on Saturday, he said, are they where?
- 14:56Are they where they need to be? No, but they're
- 14:58coming along and hopefully that we'll can. Who do you
- 15:00think is coming along at this point? And who do
- 15:02you think will rise after Thomas Booker being traded for Bennett?
- 15:06Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean that just shows your VIC standard, right,
- 15:08I mean I have yet to hear Vic say, man,
- 15:10this guy's arrived, this guy is really playing out an
- 15:14elite left. Maybe he said that about Jail and Carter,
- 15:16but probably in the middle of last year.
- 15:18Speaker 2: I think he said that when.
- 15:19Speaker 3: Everyone was asking about playing all these snaps, right, So
- 15:22you have to kind of read between that.
- 15:25Speaker 2: But I do think to his point, and you sometimes
- 15:28we always say on inside the Birds.
- 15:30Speaker 3: The answers to the tester right there, if you guys remember,
- 15:33if you guys were awake and actually watching it, and
- 15:35I applaud you. If you were in the fourth quarter
- 15:38of the preseason game on Thursday night, on the last
- 15:41third down for the Bengals, Ty Robinson and Gabe Hole
- 15:45were executing an inside stunt right, a TT stunt, I believe,
- 15:49which I mean, how often do you see guys who
- 15:51are playing in the first quarter also playing in the
- 15:53fourth quarter. But Vic is very adamant about getting time,
- 15:56getting reps. He's always making fun of people, I think
- 15:59on his own maybe who think practice is not as
- 16:02important or want to truncate practice. So I do really
- 16:05think that when he talks about that, he means Ty
- 16:07Robinson is a rookie and he's probably swimming a little
- 16:10bit and needs snaps.
- 16:11Speaker 2: Game all need snaps. I mean, clearly the guys who didn't.
- 16:14Speaker 3: Play are guys he's comfortable with, right, So I do
- 16:17think Robinson will work his way into the rotation at
- 16:21some point.
- 16:21Speaker 2: And I like what I've seen from gay Ball.
- 16:24Speaker 1: At the open practice. I know Drew Mcoms can team work.
- 16:27Sidney Brown was a little banged up in that preseason game.
- 16:30Where does it stand in the secondary at safety? I
- 16:34know a lot of fans and listeners have concerns about
- 16:37the safety position. Where are we at with Macooba's development.
- 16:41I know he was hurt a little bit, he was
- 16:43banged up. Where are we at there with safety?
- 16:45Speaker 2: Yeah, it's a big week.
- 16:46Speaker 3: It's a big week for both of them with the bank,
- 16:48with the Browns coming into town, these two practices, and
- 16:51not just these guys but a lot of them. But
- 16:53they're going to treat these two practices like the game.
- 16:56They're gonna script everything, which is the beauty of the
- 16:59joint practices. They're gonna go through every down and distance scenario.
- 17:02They want to see red zone, goal line, first down,
- 17:06backed up, and they're gonna go at it with the
- 17:08Browns because that's what you do. Enjoy practices. So it's
- 17:11a really big week Nick for Sydney Brown and for mccouba.
- 17:16I give mccouba some credit. He returned to practice. They
- 17:20didn't play him in the preseason game. I think they
- 17:22wanted to make sure he's one hundred percent.
- 17:23Speaker 2: For this week. But he did come to practice.
- 17:25Speaker 3: What was that Tuesday, right, and he participated in the
- 17:28drills and thought he did a good job. You know,
- 17:30I give up a touchdown of Goddard who jumped up
- 17:32in the air and plucked it out of the air.
- 17:33Wasn't like it was bad coverage, broke up another pass.
- 17:38He did look to me like he was still like
- 17:39one hundred percent. So I give him a lot of
- 17:41credit for getting out there. And I think this week
- 17:44Nick will be big because if I were to shoot
- 17:46up everybody on the coaching staff with truth serum and
- 17:49check them with that, I think they would tell you
- 17:51they would say they want mccuba to win the job.
- 17:53He's more versatile. He's the type of guy that can
- 17:56flourish in Vic Fangio's system. But it's not like they
- 18:00Brown has played poorly. You heard Vic say, you're still
- 18:03trying to recognize things a little quicker. And this week
- 18:06will be a perfect opportunity to do that against the
- 18:08defense that's gonna I mean, I'm sorry, against an offense
- 18:10that's gonna show him stuff that he'd not been seeing
- 18:13for the last two weeks.
- 18:14Speaker 1: Yeah, And I also want to talk about Cooper Degene
- 18:17just real quick, because there's if people texting in regarding Degene,
- 18:21could he move to the outside if they don't like
- 18:23what they see from Bennett and Ringo and a Dori
- 18:25Jackson really don't grab that second cornerback spot. Is there
- 18:29any chance at all that Degene could move to the outside.
- 18:32I know they want to use him in nickel, They
- 18:34want to use him in safety, linebacker, whatever it may be.
- 18:36They want to utilize all of his skill sets all
- 18:39over the place on defense. Is there any chance he
- 18:42could ever play outside corner? They could use him there
- 18:45at some point.
- 18:46Speaker 3: You know, it's funny when they drafted him last last April, right,
- 18:49two aprils ago, they drafted him with the idea that.
- 18:53Speaker 2: He'd eventually be an outside corner. Right, that's that's a fact.
- 18:57That is something that I know for a fact.
- 18:59Speaker 3: But just because that's what they intended then doesn't mean
- 19:02the defensive coordinator has to agree or do it.
- 19:05Speaker 2: And no one's gonna say, Vic, you you don't, don't
- 19:07don't do that? Right? So Vic did this spring.
- 19:11Speaker 3: Vic practiced him at least in one of the OTAs
- 19:14we watched at outside corner, practice him at safety, and
- 19:18Vic for right now has decided that if he is
- 19:21going to play a position along with Nickel. Let's let's
- 19:23be let's get the facts out first. He's gonna be
- 19:26the nickel corner and they're gonna play Nickel eighty percent
- 19:28of the time. So the conversation we're really having is
- 19:30about these other snaps where the five man fronts on
- 19:34the field right run down and they're only playing four.
- 19:37Speaker 2: Defensive backs two safeties.
- 19:39Speaker 3: Yeah, it looks right now like they want to see
- 19:41Cooper de Gene in that spot. And to your question,
- 19:44that might have something to do with the uncertainty going
- 19:47round right now at the other safety spot, and that
- 19:49Macouba himself is a little undersized and already uh Sydney
- 19:54Brown has struggle with injury, so maybe this helps take
- 19:57the workload off him by not having him out there
- 20:00in the base defense. That doesn't mean the door is
- 20:02closed on Cooper de jan playing outside corner anytime down
- 20:06the road, but based on what we see in practice,
- 20:08I don't. I don't think we've seen him play outside
- 20:10corner in base at all. So now I'll go back
- 20:14to last year. I'm sorry, I'm being very long winded.
- 20:17Speaker 1: It's okay, that's why we're here. It's football at four.
- 20:19Jeff We're having a lot of fun. You're in the
- 20:21principal's office once again.
- 20:22Speaker 3: Might get to be might get to be football at
- 20:24five in a minute, It's okay, I could.
- 20:27Speaker 1: Talk football day. It's we're getting so close. It's preseason.
- 20:30Speaker 2: A little rusty, It's okay, good, we're all in preseason four.
- 20:33Speaker 3: If you go back to last year, Quinya Mitchell was
- 20:37the nickelback for like the first week or two of
- 20:39camp until Cooper de Jan came back and he felt
- 20:42comfortable moving Quinn on the outside.
- 20:45Speaker 2: Corner and then it just took off from there. But
- 20:47I mean all.
- 20:48Speaker 3: Throughout the OTAs and for the first I want to say,
- 20:50two weeks of camp, Quinya Mitchell was the slot cornerback.
- 20:54Speaker 2: Nobody remembers that now, I don't.
- 20:56Speaker 1: I did not remember that at all.
- 20:57Speaker 3: Right, Right, so we've obsessed over the last two weeks
- 21:00about Cooper de Gen playing safety, right, who knows? Something
- 21:03could something change with this outside corner situation that makes
- 21:07Victory think it sure? But for now the facts are
- 21:11he's base safety in nickel corner or nickel mack.
- 21:14Speaker 4: Last one for me, mosh Jahad Campbell. He only played
- 21:17fifteen snaps on Thursday night. Maybe they're just trying to
- 21:22not give him too much on his plate. At one time,
- 21:26where did things stand with Campbell? Do you think he'll
- 21:28be starting come week one?
- 21:31Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 21:31Speaker 3: You know, you know how they tell rookies, if you're
- 21:32gonna make a mistake, make it at one hundred miles
- 21:34per hour or just go play one hundred miles per hour.
- 21:37Speaker 2: Well, you saw in that.
- 21:38Speaker 3: I mean he's trying to get downhill on a run
- 21:39and he gets his hands on a guy's face against
- 21:42flat Yeah. But then if you guys remember there was
- 21:46that pass over the middle. Andre Sam hits the receiver
- 21:49and the ball goes up in the air, and this
- 21:52is like fifteen yards downfield, right, and who's come up
- 21:55with interception?
- 21:56Speaker 2: Yeah, Hod Campbell. And I'm like, wow, he came from
- 21:59pretty far away to get there.
- 22:00Speaker 3: That shows he has athleticism and it shows you why,
- 22:03you know, they want to give him every.
- 22:05Speaker 2: Opportunity to get on the field.
- 22:07Speaker 3: But Vic's not gonna play him if he doesn't think
- 22:11he's mentally ready, if he knows how to use his
- 22:14body the right way, if he doesn't over pursue. You know,
- 22:17Sidney Brown last year, A hair on fire, plays great
- 22:19hits anything that's in front of him. But he was
- 22:22not assignment sound. So Vic's gonna play the assignment sound guy.
- 22:26But if John Campbell continues to progress and shows that
- 22:29he'll be and this is a big week for him too,
- 22:30I think then he will. He'll get that job, but
- 22:33he's got to show it.
- 22:35Speaker 1: Jeff, thanks so much for joining us today for Football
- 22:38at four. I know you're excited. The summer's almost over,
- 22:41we're getting closer to football season. It's gonna be a
- 22:44lot of fun. We're still a preseason for him here,
- 22:46and Mike, you know he's he's a world traveler now,
- 22:48so we'll let him be for a couple of Oh yeah,
- 22:51for sure. So well, thank you so much for joining
- 22:54us at Jeff P. Mosher on the Twitter x platform.
- 22:58Thanks again.
