Latest / Stugotz and Company / Big Stu-ey: The Dianna Russini Conversation
Transcript
- 0:22Speaker 1: Is he. Are you ready to have the conversation? Wow,
- 0:27Speaker 1: I thought we just did MD versus Lebron. What do
- 0:29Speaker 1: you mean? No?
- 0:30Speaker 2: We uh, well we did and we'll do it again.
- 0:32Speaker 2: But that's not the conversation. I'm talking about a different conversation.
- 0:36Speaker 3: Okay, the conversation, the Dan Levatard Show conversation.
- 0:41Speaker 1: No, not that conversation.
- 0:43Speaker 2: I'll get to that conversation at some point. I know
- 0:45Speaker 2: the audience at update on that. We'll get to it
- 0:47Speaker 2: in a minute. I'm talking about the conversation.
- 0:50Speaker 1: Ah, I still don't know what you're talking about. That's
- 0:57Speaker 1: what I'm talking about, Yes, that conversation. Okay.
- 0:59Speaker 2: I understand why people want to hear from me on
- 1:02Speaker 2: this It is funny that they're holding me to some
- 1:04Speaker 2: sort of standards. To God, so if it was someone else,
- 1:07Speaker 2: you go right after them. What So I understand why
- 1:11Speaker 2: people want to hear from me on this front.
- 1:13Speaker 1: They are well aware.
- 1:14Speaker 2: People who have listened to me for a long time
- 1:17Speaker 2: are well aware of their relationship I have with Diana Rossini,
- 1:21Speaker 2: how many times she has been on this show, how
- 1:24Speaker 2: good she has been to this show, And they want
- 1:25Speaker 2: to hear and they know I talk to her and
- 1:27Speaker 2: so they want to hear from my perspective of what
- 1:30Speaker 2: is going on with Diana Racini. And I will tell
- 1:32Speaker 2: you this, even if Diana Rossini told me all the details,
- 1:37Speaker 2: I wouldn't share them with you, and I wouldn't share
- 1:39Speaker 2: them with his real good era.
- 1:41Speaker 3: So let me let me let me just ask you
- 1:42Speaker 3: a couple of questions, because I'm curious about a few things. One,
- 1:44Speaker 3: what it like for those who don't really know, how
- 1:47Speaker 3: long have you guys been friends? Like obviously you guys
- 1:49Speaker 3: talked to when you were on the Dan Levittard Show.
- 1:51Speaker 1: You guys did some I believe work at ESPN together.
- 1:54Speaker 1: I can't remember the timelines.
- 1:55Speaker 2: So I would tell you I can count on maybe
- 1:57Speaker 2: two or three hands the amount of actual friends I
- 2:00Speaker 2: have in this industry, because our industry is gross, two
- 2:03Speaker 2: or three hands, like fifteen people I'm doing The three
- 2:06Speaker 2: of them are right now currently doing the show with me.
- 2:09Speaker 2: Taylor only wants to talk about the playlist she made
- 2:13Speaker 2: on Spotify.
- 2:14Speaker 1: That is the only parts of this tailor wants to
- 2:16Speaker 1: be a part of.
- 2:17Speaker 2: When I asked him if we should talk about it,
- 2:19Speaker 2: it was like I was offering like a little vial
- 2:22Speaker 2: of some sort of plague.
- 2:24Speaker 1: He was just like, what are we gonna say? What
- 2:26Speaker 1: am I going to say? Then the silet came out.
- 2:28Speaker 2: Yeah, and now we want to talk about it, and
- 2:30Speaker 2: so we can't talk about until we have the conversation.
- 2:34Speaker 2: That's why I'm having the conversation, so then we can
- 2:37Speaker 2: make fun of all the other conversations around this. My
- 2:40Speaker 2: relationship with Diana, to answer your question, goes back to
- 2:43Speaker 2: our time at ESPN, goes back to our time doing
- 2:46Speaker 2: shows together in Bristol. She came on, she took calls
- 2:50Speaker 2: as her mom. It was laugh out loud, funny. She's
- 2:53Speaker 2: funny and from their friendship blossomed and developed and she's
- 2:57Speaker 2: a real friend. And so I'm I'm a journalist, I'm
- 3:01Speaker 2: a talk show host, and when my real friends fall
- 3:05Speaker 2: in some difficult times, I like to support my friends
- 3:08Speaker 2: and talk to them and be someone that listens, not talks, listens.
- 3:12Speaker 2: This is her story to share when she feels like
- 3:15Speaker 2: sharing it. It is not me and it is not
- 3:17Speaker 2: my obligation to talk to Diana Rassini privately on the
- 3:21Speaker 2: phone and then share it with a radio audience that
- 3:24Speaker 2: she doesn't want me to share it with because it's
- 3:26Speaker 2: not my story to tell, right, it is her story
- 3:29Speaker 2: to tell on her timeline.
- 3:30Speaker 3: But it is a tricky situation, right because, as I
- 3:34Speaker 3: don't know, if you call me former journalist, whatever, these
- 3:38Speaker 3: types of stories never were the ones that would interest
- 3:41Speaker 3: me to write about because I didn't think it was
- 3:43Speaker 3: my responsibility if it was.
- 3:45Speaker 1: A personal story.
- 3:46Speaker 3: Sure, if it was a professional story, meaning on the
- 3:48Speaker 3: Mike Rabel side of it, because again, even as a
- 3:51Speaker 3: journalist covering sports, do not covering other journalists, right.
- 3:56Speaker 2: Right, Well, that's part of the interesting thing with this
- 3:58Speaker 2: particular story though. It's the person who normally does the
- 4:02Speaker 2: reporting and now she's being reported on, correct, you know.
- 4:04Speaker 3: And so if I were doing this from a journalistic standpoint,
- 4:07Speaker 3: it would be, hey, how is this affecting the Patriots?
- 4:10Speaker 3: Is Mike Rabel's job in jeopardy? Has there been anything
- 4:13Speaker 3: that has happened that has affected these clubs as a
- 4:16Speaker 3: result of this, you know, supposed relationship in the past.
- 4:19Speaker 3: None of those things are the salacious things that people
- 4:22Speaker 3: want to know, right, And those are the things that
- 4:24Speaker 3: people frankly don't deserve to know.
- 4:27Speaker 2: Right, yes, yes, And it's the other interesting kind of
- 4:32Speaker 2: element of this is you're right.
- 4:34Speaker 1: People want those details. They're not really interested in, you know.
- 4:38Speaker 2: The I guess the complexities of the relationship and whether
- 4:43Speaker 2: or not she's been compromised. She's been compromised. She knows
- 4:45Speaker 2: the optics are bad on this. Trust me, Okay, I
- 4:48Speaker 2: know the optics are bad on this. I was surprised
- 4:50Speaker 2: when I saw the pictures. And this is coming from
- 4:53Speaker 2: a person who knows she's had a close relationship. I
- 4:56Speaker 2: didn't know it was this kind of close. But has
- 4:58Speaker 2: a close relationship with Mike Rabel and has been friendly
- 5:01Speaker 2: with him for years, and that might be all that
- 5:04Speaker 2: it is. I have no idea. Again, she hasn't told me.
- 5:06Speaker 2: Go ahead, Mikey.
- 5:08Speaker 4: What's so interesting about this story to me is the
- 5:11Speaker 4: speculation is bigger and better than the actual facts. It's
- 5:16Speaker 4: more fun to speculate about the next thing as opposed
- 5:20Speaker 4: to actually seeing what it is.
- 5:23Speaker 5: What the fact is.
- 5:24Speaker 3: Yeah, there's a lot of speculation. People are putting together
- 5:27Speaker 3: timelines and figuring things out and thinking this, and it's
- 5:30Speaker 3: just like, okay, great, let's just say all that is true,
- 5:34Speaker 3: and what like, are you satisfied because you know these things?
- 5:38Speaker 3: Do you want to watch a movie that is made
- 5:40Speaker 3: out of this story, like what those details to me
- 5:43Speaker 3: are harmful and if they get out, they hurt people.
- 5:46Speaker 3: And it's just like that has nothing to do with
- 5:48Speaker 3: what you do. You can go ahead and like do
- 5:50Speaker 3: all the internet research you want to do. But I
- 5:54Speaker 3: don't think it's fair to ask Stu Gotts, Hey, you
- 5:57Speaker 3: know her, tell me what you know.
- 5:58Speaker 1: I mean, that's kind of bullshit.
- 6:00Speaker 2: Now, I will say this that in terms of that lifestyle,
- 6:04Speaker 2: being a beat reporter doing what she does or did
- 6:07Speaker 2: for a living, what Adam Schefter does. I've had Adam
- 6:10Speaker 2: Schefter's parents on to talk about what a bad Sonny
- 6:12Speaker 2: is because that job is so time consuming, it will
- 6:16Speaker 2: consume your entire life. You'll end up leaving dinners, important
- 6:19Speaker 2: family dinners because you have to chase a story. And
- 6:22Speaker 2: so Diana and I have had private conversations and public
- 6:25Speaker 2: conversations about how I hate that lifestyle. It's a dangerous lifestyle.
- 6:30Speaker 2: And also I have seen well past her journalistic you
- 6:34Speaker 2: know her journalistic stuff, and I saw a person, and
- 6:37Speaker 2: I got to know a person that has a lot
- 6:40Speaker 2: more to offer than Hey, so and so is going
- 6:42Speaker 2: to be the next defensive coordinator of the Baltimore Ravens.
- 6:45Speaker 2: I saw personality. She's been great to me. I will
- 6:48Speaker 2: say that on the front end, she has been great
- 6:50Speaker 2: to me. She has been there for me at times
- 6:52Speaker 2: when I have needed her to be there for me.
- 6:54Speaker 2: She is warm, she's compassionate. I love her, and I
- 6:57Speaker 2: don't care what happens moving forward. Continue to be her friend.
- 7:01Speaker 2: I'll continue to support her. I'll continue to love Diana Rocini.
- 7:05Speaker 2: The fact that I'm because of my friendship with her,
- 7:08Speaker 2: I am held to some sort of expectation to share
- 7:10Speaker 2: every single salacious detail that I discussed privately with Diana
- 7:14Speaker 2: Racini with the audiences laugh out loud, funny.
- 7:17Speaker 1: But I was saying, is is he?
- 7:19Speaker 2: I have had conversations with Schefter, with Diana, with other
- 7:24Speaker 2: with shams about how time consuming these particular jobs can be.
- 7:29Speaker 2: And for Diana, what I told her was, I think
- 7:32Speaker 2: you're a better talk show host. I think it would
- 7:34Speaker 2: be an easier lifestyle. I said this before any of
- 7:36Speaker 2: this happened, because I truly believe that that lifestyle is
- 7:41Speaker 2: the worst it is.
- 7:43Speaker 3: I don't want to leave that there. As if you
- 7:45Speaker 3: are making excuses for her, I'm not. I understand what
- 7:48Speaker 3: you're saying and it's just a side note to I.
- 7:51Speaker 1: Just got the audience. No, I want the audience to know.
- 7:54Speaker 2: Is he that we have had these conversations as friends
- 7:57Speaker 2: for a while now, both on air and off air,
- 7:59Speaker 2: just about the lifestyle, but the job, not about any of.
- 8:01Speaker 1: This, just that you know, as it relates to this.
- 8:04Speaker 2: I told her, well, you're gonna laugh, because when I
- 8:06Speaker 2: called her the first time after it came out, I
- 8:08Speaker 2: was surprised. I was shocked, like everyone else, the optics
- 8:12Speaker 2: are terrible.
- 8:13Speaker 1: She knows that, by the way, I would hope, so
- 8:15Speaker 1: I think she did. I think we all kind of
- 8:17Speaker 1: recognize that. But I think you guys will laugh at this.
- 8:19Speaker 2: And Mikey knows my relationship with her better than anyone here.
- 8:23Speaker 1: I called her.
- 8:23Speaker 2: She answered the phone and I said, I'm jealous, And
- 8:27Speaker 2: she said, what of the attention?
- 8:30Speaker 1: And I said, well, now, I'm jealous of two things.
- 8:35Speaker 1: I didn't think about the attention.
- 8:36Speaker 2: I told her I was jealous that she got to
- 8:38Speaker 2: spend that much quality time with Rabel.
- 8:41Speaker 6: Stu. My favorite thing right now with your involvement in this, yes,
- 8:45Speaker 6: is people messaging and saying, Stu, you said you would
- 8:48Speaker 6: hire Diane Russini. Why isn't she on the show. She
- 8:51Speaker 6: seems a little busy right now with things in her
- 8:55Speaker 6: own personal life to where she doesn't want to just
- 8:57Speaker 6: jump on a zoom on a Monday talking about what
- 9:00Speaker 6: athletes would connote a department store.
- 9:03Speaker 1: No, so all of this is funny.
- 9:05Speaker 2: There's a lot of let me restate Brandon Marshall's that's
- 9:09Speaker 2: so good. Not all of it is funny, okay, And
- 9:11Speaker 2: I do have the top five funniest things that have
- 9:13Speaker 2: happened from my perspective throughout this entire ordeal. But it's
- 9:18Speaker 2: it's not funny. But what is funny is people are
- 9:20Speaker 2: holding me to a standard that quite simply, they've never
- 9:22Speaker 2: helped beats it. Yeah, I am the core jester of
- 9:27Speaker 2: sports radio for the last twenty years, and suddenly you
- 9:30Speaker 2: have some sort of journalistic expectation for me. Journalism died
- 9:34Speaker 2: the day Michael Wolbam was covering the Cubs wearing a
- 9:36Speaker 2: Cubs jersey.
- 9:37Speaker 1: I'm sorry.
- 9:38Speaker 4: So I had somebody actually text me and go, well,
- 9:41Speaker 4: how come you guys haven't talked about it?
- 9:43Speaker 5: How come you haven't do that? You guys are journalists?
- 9:45Speaker 5: And I said, WHOA, Yeah, you can call us a
- 9:47Speaker 5: lot of things.
- 9:48Speaker 1: Don't call me that.
- 9:48Speaker 2: Don't you ever call us journalists other than listen, Yes,
- 9:53Speaker 2: no is he is. He is a journalist. It's why
- 9:55Speaker 2: he's here. He needs to balance us out and needs
- 9:58Speaker 2: to make sure I'm treating the with the right tone
- 10:02Speaker 2: that I need to be treating this with because I
- 10:03Speaker 2: am not apologizing. I am not a mouthpiece for Diana Versiti.
- 10:07Speaker 2: I am not apologizing on Diana Versini's behalf. I am
- 10:10Speaker 2: simply saying it's her story to tell, it is not
- 10:13Speaker 2: my story, and I am simply going to support my friend.
- 10:16Speaker 2: I did say if the athletic fired her, I would
- 10:18Speaker 2: hire her. They didn't fire her. She stepped down from
- 10:21Speaker 2: the athletic, and the offer holds forever. If Diana Verssini
- 10:26Speaker 2: decides one day, three months from now, a year from now,
- 10:29Speaker 2: two years from now, that she wants to get back
- 10:32Speaker 2: into this game, she has a place right here.
- 10:35Speaker 3: Well, let me all just say this, just to balance
- 10:36Speaker 3: everything out, because I don't want people saying, oh wow,
- 10:39Speaker 3: they're just glossing over everything and not really paying attention
- 10:42Speaker 3: to the stuff that we want to you know, discuss,
- 10:45Speaker 3: And I will say that, you know, as a minority
- 10:47Speaker 3: in this business. Some would say a double minority, but
- 10:50Speaker 3: I think Hispanic is pretty well representative minorities up. As
- 10:54Speaker 3: a minority in this business, you do sort of have
- 10:57Speaker 3: a standard, and you know, as a woman in this business,
- 10:59Speaker 3: it's it's like it's an unfair higher standard and you
- 11:04Speaker 3: are representing and it's very fatiguing and it's very annoying.
- 11:07Speaker 3: But you're representing your group of people all the time.
- 11:11Speaker 3: And so for this to be the bad look that
- 11:14Speaker 3: you know, Diana and everybody recognizes, I think is.
- 11:17Speaker 1: Is a knock. It's a step back.
- 11:19Speaker 3: I could understand a lot of women reporters, a lot
- 11:21Speaker 3: of women journalists being upset about this, and so so
- 11:25Speaker 3: that needs to be acknowledged. And again that's something as
- 11:28Speaker 3: you're saying, she probably recognizes and just on a personal level,
- 11:32Speaker 3: right again, without knowing any details, I am somebody whose
- 11:35Speaker 3: first marriage was ended on you know, infidelity, like he
- 11:38Speaker 3: was not just faithful to me and it ended my
- 11:40Speaker 3: marriage and it shook my world. And a lot of
- 11:43Speaker 3: things can happen in somebody's life. When these things are happening,
- 11:46Speaker 3: that can a lot of people can go in a
- 11:48Speaker 3: bunch of different directions, and it's very you know, potentially harmful.
- 11:51Speaker 3: So those are the things that obviously, you know, people
- 11:54Speaker 3: with their heart in it, I really want to know
- 11:56Speaker 3: what's happening.
- 11:56Speaker 1: Are concerned about that too? Are they concerned about the
- 11:58Speaker 1: people involved?
- 11:59Speaker 3: That's the first thing that I think of is individually
- 12:02Speaker 3: the people involved, and not necessarily the people whose names
- 12:04Speaker 3: we see in headlines. All right, Yeah, so all that stuff,
- 12:07Speaker 3: nobody is saying it doesn't matter. Nobody is saying we
- 12:10Speaker 3: just need to get past it, and nobody is saying
- 12:12Speaker 3: we just need to talk about football or journalism or
- 12:14Speaker 3: anything else. I understand, still understands all of that is
- 12:17Speaker 3: a factor in all of this. Yes, but it's not
- 12:20Speaker 3: our personal problem. It's not our personal details to dissect.
- 12:24Speaker 3: And if you want to have an opinion on what
- 12:26Speaker 3: a person or how you would feel about a person
- 12:28Speaker 3: who did this, that's fine. Yeah, but you don't have
- 12:31Speaker 3: to demand that everybody has the conversation and gives you
- 12:33Speaker 3: all the details so you can paint the picture exactly
- 12:35Speaker 3: how you want to paint it.
- 12:36Speaker 1: That's not for us to.
- 12:37Speaker 2: I'm just trying to be there for my friend, a
- 12:39Speaker 2: friend who has been there for me during some dark
- 12:42Speaker 2: times and has been present, not just you know, physically there,
- 12:45Speaker 2: but actually listening and giving me great advice. And she'll
- 12:49Speaker 2: continue to be someone that I lean on, and hopefully
- 12:51Speaker 2: I'll be someone that she continues.
- 12:53Speaker 1: To lean on.
- 12:53Speaker 2: And again, if Diana decides that she does want to
- 12:57Speaker 2: continue a career, perhaps we have landed exactactly where I
- 13:01Speaker 2: thought she should have landed many many years ago before
- 13:03Speaker 2: this happened.
- 13:04Speaker 1: As a talk show host.
- 13:06Speaker 3: I will forever remember this controversy as being the reason
- 13:09Speaker 3: I found out that I can't smile because I saw
- 13:12Speaker 3: a picture with me, you and Diana Rusini and my
- 13:14Speaker 3: smile is upside down. Yes, but it also will very
- 13:17Speaker 3: much remember it for the playlist that was circulated. Well,
- 13:21Speaker 3: that's all Teller wants to that see him made and
- 13:23Speaker 3: you shared with a user named Mike et cetera, et cetera.
- 13:26Speaker 3: But the playlist itself, Taylor, what do we think about it? Stu?
- 13:30Speaker 6: Yeah, I cannot get over how bad this playlist.
- 13:34Speaker 2: I mean, shoot her attext and tell her she'll laugh.
- 13:37Speaker 2: She needs to laugh. I made her laugh like twice.
- 13:39Speaker 2: She got a good night's sleep once. I am telling
- 13:41Speaker 2: you when I talked to Diana on the phone, it's
- 13:42Speaker 2: not the same Diana.
- 13:43Speaker 1: Okay, if that makes.
- 13:45Speaker 2: People feel better feel worse, I don't really give a shit.
- 13:47Speaker 2: I'm just telling you that zest that you know, that
- 13:50Speaker 2: kind of bouncing her step, that pep in her step.
- 13:53Speaker 2: When I talked to her, I don't hear it nearly
- 13:55Speaker 2: as much as I used to. Obviously that should go
- 13:58Speaker 2: without saying to To suggest that Diana isn't feeling this
- 14:02Speaker 2: and her family isn't impacted by this is laugh out
- 14:04Speaker 2: loud funny.
- 14:05Speaker 1: They're impacted. Congratulations you want go ahead? Taylor?
- 14:08Speaker 6: Sorry, dare I say it's the worst playlist?
- 14:13Speaker 7: Wow?
- 14:15Speaker 1: What is he?
- 14:16Speaker 6: If I ask you what is the key to a
- 14:18Speaker 6: great playlist?
- 14:19Speaker 1: What would you say? Wow?
- 14:21Speaker 3: A key to a great playst Probably man, I haven't
- 14:23Speaker 3: made a playlist.
- 14:25Speaker 5: This is like like this question as he's ever been asked.
- 14:27Speaker 1: This theme isn't a theme in the big right? Maybe positivity? Right? Bing? No,
- 14:33Speaker 1: No theme is the key to a great playlist? Right?
- 14:36Speaker 6: The key is if I hit shuffle on this playlist.
- 14:39Speaker 6: Nobody is gonna question the next song that comes on
- 14:42Speaker 6: or be confused how this song follows this one? Kat
- 14:46Speaker 6: POPA Roach and Beyonce should never be on the same playlist.
- 14:50Speaker 3: Like, if you're trying to be inspired, and this is
- 14:53Speaker 3: the theory, and you're trying to be inspired while you're
- 14:55Speaker 3: at a.
- 14:55Speaker 1: You know, let's say four game losing streak.
- 14:58Speaker 3: Uh, what do you want to listen to that's gonna
- 15:00Speaker 3: really want to pick you up and get you go?
- 15:02Speaker 3: And I think it's gotta be consistent. It's got to
- 15:04Speaker 3: be a style of sog.
- 15:05Speaker 1: Right.
- 15:06Speaker 6: So there's fifteen songs on this playlist. I'm looking at
- 15:09Speaker 6: it right now. It ranges from Beyonce, Lotto, Tiesto, Pink,
- 15:15Speaker 6: Poppa Roach, Red Hot Chili.
- 15:16Speaker 1: Peppers, Pink.
- 15:17Speaker 3: Why are we raising our glass? It's a tough time.
- 15:19Speaker 3: Why are were raising our glass?
- 15:21Speaker 6: But this playlist, there's fifteen songs on this playlist. This
- 15:26Speaker 6: playlist looks like, Yes, fifteen different people from fifteen different backgrounds.
- 15:32Speaker 6: Name a song, a song, it's her playlist, guy, name
- 15:36Speaker 6: a song, any song.
- 15:37Speaker 5: It's gonna go on this playlist.
- 15:40Speaker 1: Mikey, this is all he's wanted to do.
- 15:42Speaker 7: This is the only thing he wants to touch around
- 15:45Speaker 7: this particular topic.
- 15:46Speaker 1: It's not a dangerous topic. I'm not scared to talk
- 15:49Speaker 1: about it. She's my fucking friend. I love it. To death.
- 15:51Speaker 2: She has talked to me and leaned on me, and
- 15:53Speaker 2: she lost her job. She lost her job. Mike Vrabel
- 15:57Speaker 2: still coaching the New England Patriots.
- 15:59Speaker 4: Anyway, Taylor is dare I say, Taylor, you are one
- 16:04Speaker 4: of the better producers in the game right now, I
- 16:08Speaker 4: mean you okay, but you have been running from this topic.
- 16:12Speaker 4: You have been hiding in the corner about this topic
- 16:15Speaker 4: every time we brought it up until that playlist. Well,
- 16:19Speaker 4: you have been so upset that we have been waiting
- 16:22Speaker 4: to do this because you haven't been able to crush
- 16:25Speaker 4: Diana Rassini.
- 16:26Speaker 5: Not for all the other things, but.
- 16:28Speaker 2: Because this was because what gates are open now so
- 16:32Speaker 2: he could do it.
- 16:33Speaker 3: Never has anyone wanted to turn the page and then
- 16:36Speaker 3: decided to listen to Welcome to the Jungle by Guns N' Roses, Like.
- 16:39Speaker 1: No, you mean turned the page seven.
- 16:45Speaker 6: If I send somebody this playlist, I would expect them,
- 16:48Speaker 6: if they were a head coach, to never win a game.
- 16:52Speaker 6: The fact that he made a Super Bowl after this
- 16:54Speaker 6: playlist is shocking.
- 17:06Speaker 2: I have the top five funny things that have happened
- 17:10Speaker 2: for me from my perspective since the story started until today.
- 17:14Speaker 1: If you guys want to go there.
- 17:15Speaker 2: Mikey A has a concern. He's concerned that we talk
- 17:18Speaker 2: about it and then more news comes out after the fact,
- 17:21Speaker 2: and I'm not certain it won't.
- 17:22Speaker 1: I have no idea. It's dangerous.
- 17:24Speaker 2: Those are not the types of discussions I am having
- 17:26Speaker 2: when I speak to my friend Diana reci because.
- 17:30Speaker 1: She would, she would let you know, Hey, back on
- 17:32Speaker 1: a little bit. Listen.
- 17:33Speaker 2: I don't care what short of murdering someone, I don't
- 17:36Speaker 2: care what comes out after this. Okay, she still has
- 17:39Speaker 2: my support, she is still a friend of mine.
- 17:41Speaker 1: She did the opposite of that. She saved someone's life.
- 17:44Speaker 1: We'll get to that. It's saved in the middle of
- 17:46Speaker 1: all of this.
- 17:48Speaker 5: Don't ruin. The top five is don't you dare?
- 17:51Speaker 2: So?
- 17:52Speaker 1: Here we go? Do we have uh? Do we have
- 17:54Speaker 1: sound for this?
- 17:54Speaker 5: Or we do?
- 17:55Speaker 1: Are we?
- 17:56Speaker 2: This is a stupid top five list, but it's top
- 17:59Speaker 2: five things that have made me laugh. Diana saga, I
- 18:03Speaker 2: gotta find it.
- 18:05Speaker 1: I have some l ees. Are you ready? O? L
- 18:08Speaker 1: I Number one the pictures of me being used on
- 18:11Speaker 1: page six. They're terrible, so mad today it's a New
- 18:17Speaker 1: York paper. It's your dream?
- 18:20Speaker 5: Can I add an O?
- 18:21Speaker 1: L I to this go ahead.
- 18:22Speaker 4: Sometimes you think sometimes you think like people are reconize.
- 18:25Speaker 4: Hey I saw your show that was good, and you think, oh, man,
- 18:28Speaker 4: I must be somebody. And then they put a picture
- 18:31Speaker 4: on page six where they identified Mike Golick Junior as me.
- 18:37Speaker 5: It was such a comeback to earth. That hurts my feelings.
- 18:45Speaker 1: But you're right, well that says he's not married yet. Yes,
- 18:47Speaker 1: well he's engaged. Congratulations to our friend Mike Golick Junior.
- 18:50Speaker 2: An odd place to congratulate Mike Golick Junior on getting married.
- 18:56Speaker 1: I thought they gotten the dog.
- 18:58Speaker 3: It was just the two of them. Man, they're like
- 18:59Speaker 3: are and was like very casually up. I was like, oh, engagement,
- 19:02Speaker 3: got it.
- 19:03Speaker 1: I called Gojo yesterday to well, listen with my friends.
- 19:05Speaker 6: You're always on the phone.
- 19:06Speaker 2: When they make big mistakes. I get on the phone
- 19:09Speaker 2: with my friends. A text, won't do. I have been
- 19:11Speaker 2: talking to Gojo about the downside of marriage for years.
- 19:14Speaker 1: I mean, so he called them up and said, you
- 19:17Speaker 1: blew it. Congratulations. He didn't listen to a word. Oh congratulations, Gojo.
- 19:27Speaker 1: I hearted it. That's funny. Page seven, Oh a, I
- 19:32Speaker 1: the playlist. I bet you should never thought that was
- 19:38Speaker 1: coming back again.
- 19:39Speaker 2: Number five, No, Number five, Jay Glazer throwing his I
- 19:45Speaker 2: wasn't finished yet, throwing his annual pool party just days
- 19:48Speaker 2: before with all the NFL coaches and not a peep.
- 19:54Speaker 1: I celebrated it. I mean, I mean Glazer.
- 19:59Speaker 2: Did that days before a pool party, an annual pool
- 20:03Speaker 2: party with twenty eight of the thirty two ATFL head
- 20:06Speaker 2: coaches that he reports on.
- 20:07Speaker 3: We should go back and just sort of change the
- 20:11Speaker 3: photos whatever Jay Glazer with any head coach and just
- 20:14Speaker 3: like put soft edges to it and maybe put some
- 20:16Speaker 3: music to it and see if people will speculate what's
- 20:18Speaker 3: happening between Jay and another coach.
- 20:20Speaker 1: Number four.
- 20:22Speaker 2: In the middle of all this, Diana pulled a man
- 20:24Speaker 2: as if he told us already, and a dog from
- 20:27Speaker 2: an overturned vehicle that was leaking gasoline?
- 20:30Speaker 1: What not? A people.
- 20:33Speaker 5: Nobody cared.
- 20:36Speaker 1: In today's climate.
- 20:37Speaker 3: If you would have told me that was staged, I
- 20:39Speaker 3: would say, you know what, I'm gonna give that some thought.
- 20:41Speaker 1: It's possible because she's.
- 20:43Speaker 3: Somebody staged that to sort of turn the attention away
- 20:46Speaker 3: from the other controversy. I'd be like, you know what,
- 20:48Speaker 3: it's less more than zero percent chance that happened.
- 20:53Speaker 4: Do you think she pulled that man out of the
- 20:55Speaker 4: car and instead of saying thank you, we said, is
- 20:57Speaker 4: it true?
- 20:57Speaker 1: Man? Well, no, I made the joke.
- 21:01Speaker 2: Someone had to lift her just so she can get
- 21:03Speaker 2: into that car to pull out the man and the dog,
- 21:05Speaker 2: and the guy was hesitant to touch her because there's
- 21:07Speaker 2: so much smoke around it. I didn't want to save lives.
- 21:10Speaker 2: I'm not reporting that. I'm just telling you that's it's
- 21:14Speaker 2: a funny take that I came up with. I haven't
- 21:17Speaker 2: spoken to her about that. Number three lebits hard spending
- 21:22Speaker 2: weeks talking about how we doesn't know how to talk.
- 21:25Speaker 1: About this.
- 21:28Speaker 6: A tradition unlike any other Oh my god, don't talk
- 21:30Speaker 6: about it.
- 21:36Speaker 2: It worked out fine just for us clicks download downloads, clicks.
- 21:40Speaker 2: I mean, we're all compromised, the entire fucking industry.
- 21:42Speaker 1: I don't want to hear from anyone on it.
- 21:44Speaker 6: To be fair, we didn't talk about it because every
- 21:46Speaker 6: time we were about to talk about it, it felt
- 21:47Speaker 6: like something new was coming up. So we finally got
- 21:50Speaker 6: to a point this week where there hasn't been any
- 21:54Speaker 6: like new updates.
- 21:55Speaker 1: We didn't want to get.
- 21:58Speaker 2: Taylor really wanted to talk about the in order to
- 22:01Speaker 2: talk about the playlist, we had to do this.
- 22:02Speaker 1: Okay. Number Two.
- 22:07Speaker 2: Credible media outlets going back to my show and picking
- 22:12Speaker 2: off clips of me and Diana Hercidi having conversations about
- 22:15Speaker 2: her and her marriage.
- 22:16Speaker 1: Are you fucking kidding me?
- 22:20Speaker 2: Do some research and you'll wonder why people think journalism
- 22:23Speaker 2: is dad.
- 22:25Speaker 6: My My favorite part from that clip that went viral
- 22:28Speaker 6: from the radio row in the Super Bowl is it
- 22:34Speaker 6: was the only day I wore a good outfit.
- 22:38Speaker 7: Our clips are everywhere.
- 22:40Speaker 5: I mean, I'm sitting next to her the whole time.
- 22:43Speaker 5: I'm not in the clip. I'm like, no, I'm telling you,
- 22:45Speaker 5: that's my sleeve right there.
- 22:46Speaker 1: She liked to have Fenn Taylor too. I think no.
- 22:50Speaker 1: I think I read something. It was like, how did
- 22:52Speaker 1: stuck outs not know.
- 22:55Speaker 3: What the amount of clip The times she's been clipped
- 22:58Speaker 3: since this has happened, and people are trying to insinuate
- 23:01Speaker 3: things and everything that she has said in the.
- 23:02Speaker 1: Past, it is laughable. But for her it's got to
- 23:05Speaker 1: be maddening.
- 23:06Speaker 2: It has to be well, especially when they're clipping her
- 23:08Speaker 2: from my show. Number One, Craig Carton.
- 23:16Speaker 3: I'm going to say this not to be insulting whatsoever? Right,
- 23:19Speaker 3: one hundred percent honesty. I have no idea what you're
- 23:22Speaker 3: talking about.
- 23:23Speaker 1: Freg Carton has been gasbaging. And let me tell you.
- 23:28Speaker 2: In the long list of sports media members that I
- 23:30Speaker 2: want to hear from on Diana Rossini and what this
- 23:33Speaker 2: has done to women and females in journalism and how
- 23:36Speaker 2: it set it back so many decades and years.
- 23:39Speaker 1: The person I want to hear from last is Craig
- 23:41Speaker 1: cark Is that what he did? Yes.
- 23:43Speaker 2: The person I want to hear from last is a
- 23:44Speaker 2: guy who, essentially, while he was working at WFAN, was
- 23:48Speaker 2: convicted of a Ponzi scheme. While working at WFAN, is
- 23:52Speaker 2: a felon, went to prison and lived such a charmed
- 23:55Speaker 2: life that when he got out of prison, he got
- 23:57Speaker 2: his job back and lived such a charm life that
- 24:00Speaker 2: when he left that job and failed on National TV,
- 24:03Speaker 2: he got the job back again. I don't want to
- 24:05Speaker 2: hear from Craig Carton on anyone in sports media.
- 24:08Speaker 1: Just sit there.
- 24:09Speaker 2: Fire a Mets manager, fire a Yankees manager, get rid
- 24:13Speaker 2: of the Giants coach, don't talk about anyone else in
- 24:15Speaker 2: sports media. Just be happy you're still a member of
- 24:19Speaker 2: the sports media.
- 24:20Speaker 1: Don't.
- 24:20Speaker 3: I'm with you here, don't talk about how Diana might
- 24:23Speaker 3: have set women journalists back when and this is really
- 24:27Speaker 3: hard to do do, yes, he said, male journalists back.
- 24:31Speaker 1: That is very hard to do.
- 24:33Speaker 2: Okay, how about Rabel setting back the stereotype of meat
- 24:36Speaker 2: had NFL coaches who are sleeping around with everyone Mo,
- 24:39Speaker 2: they're married.
- 24:40Speaker 1: Bro, that's a whole nother story.
- 24:42Speaker 3: I mean in terms of like in the public eye,
- 24:46Speaker 3: how you know they're going to deal with this situation.
- 24:49Speaker 3: I just don't know how he's going to constantly be
- 24:51Speaker 3: in front of a microphone and still have to face people,
- 24:54Speaker 3: because you know, I mean, New England might be almost
- 24:56Speaker 3: as bad as as New York these days when it
- 24:58Speaker 3: comes to covering football. They're going to get their questions
- 25:00Speaker 3: in and I don't know how much longer he's going
- 25:02Speaker 3: to be able to handle it.
- 25:03Speaker 6: The problem is, I don't think people really care about
- 25:07Speaker 6: what Vrabel did from from that perspective in terms of
- 25:09Speaker 6: his own fan base. Like he was at a season
- 25:12Speaker 6: ticket holder season ticket holder event and they gave him
- 25:16Speaker 6: a standing ovation and they were talking to Drake May.
- 25:18Speaker 1: About setting men back. Jesus, there was a quote.
- 25:21Speaker 6: From Drake May it's there was a quote from Drake
- 25:24Speaker 6: May where Drake May was like, I don't want to
- 25:26Speaker 6: quote it exactly, but the gist of it was like,
- 25:28Speaker 6: this is our coach. We understand he's going through a
- 25:30Speaker 6: tough time right now, but we have his back. We
- 25:33Speaker 6: we've got his support. Where it's like you didn't you
- 25:35Speaker 6: didn't have a family member.
- 25:36Speaker 1: Die, which one.
- 25:39Speaker 3: And Drake is is a guy who's been married young, right,
- 25:41Speaker 3: Like he clearly values the institution of marriage as do I,
- 25:47Speaker 3: and so that's what people just like, oh no, but
- 25:49Speaker 3: my coach is more important than the institution of marriage.
- 25:51Speaker 3: It's just like, now if I was his wife, I'd
- 25:53Speaker 3: be like, you know, I don't know if you really
- 25:54Speaker 3: should show public support right now.
- 25:56Speaker 5: Guys, we were in the Super Bowl last year.
- 26:00Speaker 1: Who Caresoiredo gets fired?
- 26:04Speaker 2: There is that element though, that the reporter is being
- 26:08Speaker 2: reported on, right, and so she's getting way more of
- 26:10Speaker 2: the strapnel than like vrabel is he's getting that a boy,
- 26:13Speaker 2: she's getting fired.
- 26:15Speaker 1: Well, I mean that's just the sexism of the world. Yeah,
- 26:17Speaker 1: that's where it is.
- 26:18Speaker 2: But Craig Carton from that radio station, a station by
- 26:21Speaker 2: the way, which has had I think one full time
- 26:24Speaker 2: female host in its entire history, and she was fired
- 26:26Speaker 2: after a bad rating book. I believe it was Maggie
- 26:29Speaker 2: Great Craig, how many women have you employed on your.
- 26:32Speaker 1: Radio shows over the years, just out of curiosity, I
- 26:35Speaker 1: would say more. I'm just not very well I'll tell
- 26:37Speaker 1: you the answer. The answer is not. I think I'm
- 26:40Speaker 1: not very well informed. On a New York radio market, I.
- 26:42Speaker 6: Think they've had one female guest the past month, and
- 26:45Speaker 6: it was Huktua.
- 26:49Speaker 1: To talk about Diana probably all of a.
- 26:53Speaker 7: Sudden, cares objectifies woman. Basically, his entire career makes fun
- 27:00Speaker 7: Susan Waldman, and all of a sudden, Diana Riscidi has
- 27:03Speaker 7: set women's journalism back decades.
- 27:06Speaker 1: This shouldn't be about Cardon, It shouldn't be about Jay Glazer.
- 27:09Speaker 1: Inciate your chestings and that's a great job. Listen.
- 27:11Speaker 2: I don't criticize Glazer for having the pool party. I'm
- 27:14Speaker 2: just making the point that when you question credibility, all
- 27:18Speaker 2: our credibility has been compromised. Is he doesn't want you?
- 27:21Speaker 2: Do you agree with that? In sports media, just about
- 27:24Speaker 2: everyone's credibility has been compromised, right at different levels. But yeah,
- 27:28Speaker 2: I mean Steven I Smith, I love you. You had
- 27:30Speaker 2: to adapt to a changing sports media landscape where it
- 27:34Speaker 2: became less about the reporting and more about entertaining. Right, So,
- 27:37Speaker 2: when you wear a Cowboys hat on the first take
- 27:39Speaker 2: with a cigar and strolling to Dallas compromised. Okay, I
- 27:43Speaker 2: mean when Michael Wilbon is wearing a Cubs jersey while
- 27:45Speaker 2: covering the Cubs for ESPN, compromise. What Jay Glazer is
- 27:50Speaker 2: throwing a pool party for twenty eight of the thirty
- 27:53Speaker 2: two coaches that he reports on, compromised.
- 27:56Speaker 3: The craziest thing is like where everybody's just a't so salacious.
- 28:00Speaker 3: It's such a controversy. It's just because it's in the
- 28:02Speaker 3: industry or the business that you are currently interested in, right,
- 28:05Speaker 3: because these things happen in other industries all the time.
- 28:09Speaker 3: Important people, whether they are on the same side, whether
- 28:12Speaker 3: they're on different sides, have personal relationships and stuff happens.
- 28:16Speaker 3: They make TV shows about that stuff. It's interesting when
- 28:19Speaker 3: you get in the dirt. But this just happens to
- 28:21Speaker 3: be one of many, and it's just like, hey, I
- 28:24Speaker 3: want to know so many details.
- 28:25Speaker 1: I think we kind of know.
- 28:26Speaker 3: What it looks like, yes, right, Like We've seen this
- 28:29Speaker 3: happen with other people on television, whether it be real
- 28:31Speaker 3: or fake, reality TV show or fictional TV.
- 28:34Speaker 1: What this looks like. We don't need to.
- 28:35Speaker 3: Sort of sit there and just basket it and be like,
- 28:38Speaker 3: I want to see more, I want to know the details.
- 28:40Speaker 1: I want to see tears. We don't have to see that, right,
- 28:42Speaker 1: She's feeling it, just so you know, I mean, that's
- 28:44Speaker 1: all I'm going to tell you.
- 28:45Speaker 2: The person I used to talk to is not the
- 28:47Speaker 2: person I'm talking to now, and hopefully she'll get back
- 28:49Speaker 2: to being the person I used to talk to. But
- 28:51Speaker 2: she's feeling it, and she deserves it, and she knows
- 28:53Speaker 2: that the optics on this are bad. She realizes why
- 28:56Speaker 2: people are so interested in this particular story. It is
- 29:00Speaker 2: confusing and confounding to me and really frustrating as the
- 29:03Speaker 2: father of two daughters to hear all of the coverage
- 29:07Speaker 2: be about Diana Rossini and none of it be about
- 29:09Speaker 2: what Mike Rabel did wrong. And I am not defending her.
- 29:13Speaker 2: There is no defense for what it is. At the
- 29:16Speaker 2: very least, if this all it is, it's just pictures.
- 29:19Speaker 2: The optics of those pictures for a journalist, for a reporter.
- 29:23Speaker 2: For someone who reports on the NFL, they are bad
- 29:25Speaker 2: optics and you have to be better and you have
- 29:27Speaker 2: to be careful. But I'm not going to dig into
- 29:29Speaker 2: her personal life. Those are her decisions. It's her private
- 29:32Speaker 2: life she can tell and listen. We all make mistakes,
- 29:35Speaker 2: we all have her shit, okay, every single.
- 29:38Speaker 1: One of us.
- 29:39Speaker 2: But I will tell you I will continue to be
- 29:41Speaker 2: there for Diana as a friend, as someone who's going
- 29:44Speaker 2: to listen to her, and I will be there for
- 29:46Speaker 2: her if and when she decides she wants to come
- 29:49Speaker 2: back to work, because I will not leave her alone
- 29:51Speaker 2: during the most difficult time in her life.
- 29:52Speaker 1: She didn't do that to me. I won't do it
- 29:54Speaker 1: to her. I wouldn't do it to any friend.
- 29:56Speaker 3: Well, I'm going to dig into the personal life of
- 29:58Speaker 3: Mike Rabel for a second. To go ahead, because you
- 30:00Speaker 3: mentioned pictures. Yeah, did you see the picture of him
- 30:03Speaker 3: shopping at an airport Yes? No, no, no, no, I don't
- 30:08Speaker 3: care who you are in my life. Never buy me
- 30:10Speaker 3: something from an airport shop.
- 30:12Speaker 1: Never. Never.
- 30:13Speaker 3: I would rather just have a hug, so that never
- 30:16Speaker 3: buy me anything. That's a standing rule.
- 30:17Speaker 1: That was on his way to rehab for for day
- 30:20Speaker 1: three of the draft. Believe it doesn't matter who the gifts.
- 30:23Speaker 2: So though he was going to give for his wife,
- 30:24Speaker 2: and I would say, right, his wife, and his poor wife.
- 30:26Speaker 2: By the way, of course, I mean she's going through
- 30:28Speaker 2: it as well. But I would divorce Mic just based
- 30:30Speaker 2: on that picture, not the other ones.
- 30:31Speaker 3: That picture, I don't care if it's my anniversary, I
- 30:33Speaker 3: don't care if it's a positive thing. Do not go
- 30:36Speaker 3: into an airport gift shopping.
- 30:38Speaker 1: Buy me something you're.
- 30:39Speaker 2: So sorry that you stopped on your way to gate
- 30:41Speaker 2: thirty two to get me a gift.
- 30:44Speaker 5: At the Hudson News.
- 30:46Speaker 1: I love the Hudson News.
- 30:48Speaker 3: Unless the gift is du Got's booked dot.
- 30:52Speaker 2: So Diana again just to recap disappointed. She gets it,
- 30:56Speaker 2: I get it. There's nothing else I can. She doesn't
- 30:58Speaker 2: want to hear from me, she doesn't want to hear
- 31:00Speaker 2: from you, she doesn't want to hear from Christ.
- 31:02Speaker 1: She knows I love you, I'm here for you, this
- 31:07Speaker 1: show is here for you.
- 31:09Speaker 2: And if she decides to come back and work again,
- 31:11Speaker 2: she'll have a spot, like I said earlier, right next
- 31:13Speaker 2: to me in Israel.
