- 0:18Speaker 1: telephone number six O eight five three five forty three
- 0:21Speaker 1: forty three. That's five three five four three four three. Andrew,
- 0:25Speaker 1: how are you doing this morning?
- 0:27Speaker 2: Oh?
- 0:27Speaker 3: Good, I'm trying to figure out the philosophy or thinking
- 0:31Speaker 3: behind that intro.
- 0:32Speaker 1: Oh, I don't know. I bet I'm gonna guess, Katie.
- 0:35Speaker 1: Was that just a it was there? I think I
- 0:39Speaker 1: loved it.
- 0:39Speaker 3: It made me think of a warm.
- 0:41Speaker 1: It does a nice cape cod on the beach. We're
- 0:47Speaker 1: gonna talk about what.
- 0:48Speaker 3: But hey, I know I said I want to talk
- 0:49Speaker 3: about cape CODs, but I want to pivot.
- 0:51Speaker 1: Okay, well, guess what This segment is brought to you
- 0:54Speaker 1: by Andrew Larson. If Andrew wants to pivot, We're gonna pivot.
- 1:00Speaker 3: Look, cape CODs, if you have one, you know what
- 1:03Speaker 3: it is, you know what the issues are, and I
- 1:05Speaker 3: promise that we will talk about it next week. But
- 1:09Speaker 3: my sales manager hit me up before before before I
- 1:13Speaker 3: got on, and he was like, hey, I got a
- 1:15Speaker 3: story and I think that you need to talk about it,
- 1:18Speaker 3: and I'm going to entitle it.
- 1:20Speaker 2: The customer is not always right.
- 1:22Speaker 1: No, that's bold Andrew, oh, very hey.
- 1:29Speaker 3: Uh So he tells me the story, uh five six
- 1:34Speaker 3: years ago so that he was a sales rep at
- 1:36Speaker 3: the time.
- 1:36Speaker 2: His name is John Schmid. I think he's down the
- 1:37Speaker 2: show before.
- 1:38Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah, now he's a sales manager. But he tells
- 1:42Speaker 3: me a story about he went to the He went
- 1:43Speaker 3: to this gentleman's home and he had what you'd call
- 1:46Speaker 3: like a story and a half kind of It wasn't
- 1:50Speaker 3: a full two story house, but you walked in on
- 1:52Speaker 3: a certain level kind of like a you know, walk
- 1:54Speaker 3: come in and you either go up or down, and
- 1:56Speaker 3: then there's another.
- 1:57Speaker 2: Level you can go up to.
- 1:58Speaker 3: And he wants an estimate to seal the attic on
- 2:02Speaker 3: the lower portion of the house. He had talked to
- 2:05Speaker 3: someone who was an engineer and they said, now you
- 2:10Speaker 3: just need to take care of this part of the house. Well,
- 2:13Speaker 3: as you know, Sean, we train and then we train
- 2:16Speaker 3: and then we train on our training. And he knew
- 2:19Speaker 3: John knew that this was not going to solve any problems.
- 2:24Speaker 3: It's when it comes to insulation work. We have a
- 2:28Speaker 3: term in our in our office, it is either one
- 2:30Speaker 3: hundred percent right or it.
- 2:32Speaker 2: Is one hundred percent wrong. There is no in between.
- 2:37Speaker 2: You know.
- 2:37Speaker 3: We have homeowners come and say, I just want my
- 2:39Speaker 3: rim joy sprayed. I saw something on Google, and our
- 2:43Speaker 3: guys go, oh, Google. You know, it's kind of like
- 2:46Speaker 3: the doctor and WebMD, and they're like, if you talk
- 2:48Speaker 3: about WebMD one.
- 2:49Speaker 2: More time, I'm not going to see you anymore.
- 2:52Speaker 3: Okay, sorry, you're not dying. Okay, well it told me
- 2:55Speaker 3: I was anyway. So he says, he says, this is
- 3:00Speaker 3: what I want done. John does his full inspection, and
- 3:03Speaker 3: like we're supposed to do, he comes back with what
- 3:06Speaker 3: needs to be done, not what just what he wants done.
- 3:09Speaker 3: And what he needs done is to air seal all
- 3:12Speaker 3: the addicts and insulate all the addicts. And so he
- 3:18Speaker 3: gets done. He comes down and they sit down, they
- 3:20Speaker 3: go through the products we use.
- 3:22Speaker 2: They come to the price.
- 3:24Speaker 3: And the reason that John gave this to me was
- 3:26Speaker 3: he goes, it's the only time that I've ever showed
- 3:28Speaker 3: someone the price and they literally told me to get
- 3:32Speaker 3: out of their house.
- 3:32Speaker 1: Oh.
- 3:34Speaker 3: So he shows him the price and says, and because
- 3:37Speaker 3: John told him, he goes, I know you just wanted
- 3:39Speaker 3: to do the one addic, but I'm telling you it's
- 3:42Speaker 3: not going to fix your problem. You need to do
- 3:45Speaker 3: all of it or do none of it. And he
- 3:48Speaker 3: flipped the price and the guy said, you can get
- 3:51Speaker 3: out of my house. I think you're just trying to
- 3:53Speaker 3: take advantage of me.
- 3:54Speaker 2: So John exploits.
- 3:55Speaker 3: John would never do if anybody listening's ever dealt with Judge.
- 4:00Speaker 2: Literally not in his DNA.
- 4:02Speaker 3: But what we know is if we air sealed because
- 4:04Speaker 3: of stack effect, heat rises and it goes to the
- 4:07Speaker 3: highest point, you cannot air seal one attic and not
- 4:11Speaker 3: another because what happens is when you air seal one,
- 4:15Speaker 3: it will just make the other one worse because it's
- 4:18Speaker 3: going to find a way out now. Instead of the
- 4:21Speaker 3: air and heat distributing evenly through both atticts, now it's
- 4:26Speaker 3: all going to be forced through one, essentially making that
- 4:30Speaker 3: portion of the home way worse.
- 4:33Speaker 2: Almost feel drafty. I've felt it before. It's where's this
- 4:38Speaker 2: draft coming from. It's actually not a draft.
- 4:39Speaker 3: It's actually stack effect, and it's exacerbated because we miss
- 4:43Speaker 3: something or we didn't do a part of the edit anyway.
- 4:47Speaker 2: So he leaves and lo and.
- 4:49Speaker 3: Behold, he gets a callback about months ago and the
- 4:55Speaker 3: guy says, hey, do you remember me? And John's like, well,
- 4:59Speaker 3: for surely I do. You're the only person who's ever
- 5:01Speaker 3: kicked me out of the house. And he says, you
- 5:04Speaker 3: know what, I had another guy come in. I told
- 5:07Speaker 3: him I wanted this one part of my attic insulated,
- 5:11Speaker 3: and they said, no problem, said that'll be two thousand dollars,
- 5:15Speaker 3: and they did the work and he goes, you know what, John,
- 5:17Speaker 3: it's done nothing. In fact, he said it made the
- 5:20Speaker 3: other part of my house worse. And John's I told
- 5:24Speaker 3: you so, guy, But in his head he's like, I
- 5:28Speaker 3: told you so so this person. That's why I said,
- 5:30Speaker 3: customer is not always right, and we stick to our guns.
- 5:33Speaker 2: We're not going to We're not going.
- 5:36Speaker 3: To compromise what we know is right just to make
- 5:39Speaker 3: a sale. He could have easily sold that gentleman what
- 5:44Speaker 3: he wanted, but what he wanted was wrong.
- 5:48Speaker 2: Wasn't going to fix anything.
- 5:49Speaker 3: And I've always told my guys, if you go in
- 5:51Speaker 3: and just sell insulation, because that's what they want you
- 5:54Speaker 3: won't work here anymore because the only thing that it
- 5:57Speaker 3: did was make you some money to rip the homeowner off,
- 6:01Speaker 3: and essentially he got ripped off and maybe nodding on purpose.
- 6:05Speaker 3: A lot of companies that do insulation don't really understand
- 6:07Speaker 3: home science and out work insulation is insulation, which we
- 6:11Speaker 3: know is not the case. So anyway, we ended up
- 6:14Speaker 3: going back and redoing all of the work he had
- 6:17Speaker 3: done and insulating the other part of his attic. Now
- 6:20Speaker 3: he is super happy, he's a referral. And I just
- 6:23Speaker 3: thought that was a cool story. He was in the
- 6:26Speaker 3: wrong and he didn't want to listen, so he paid
- 6:29Speaker 3: for it, literally and figuratively. He paid for it because
- 6:32Speaker 3: he had to pay twice. And that's what we don't
- 6:35Speaker 3: want people to do, Sean, And.
- 6:36Speaker 1: That is you know you talk about and John Schmid,
- 6:38Speaker 1: he's been on the show before. Great guy. And I
- 6:41Speaker 1: know all the everybody I've ever worked with at Larsenalme
- 6:44Speaker 1: Service is just amazing people. And one of the things
- 6:46Speaker 1: I know that's important to you, and it shows in
- 6:49Speaker 1: the name you put your name on the name of
- 6:51Speaker 1: the business. Reputation is important we think about home ownership.
- 6:56Speaker 1: I know you guys are just a few years out
- 6:58Speaker 1: from twenty years I do leave of Larsen Home Services,
- 7:01Speaker 1: which is I think that's just amazing to think about,
- 7:04Speaker 1: but really wanting to not just have somebody, you know,
- 7:09Speaker 1: be a customer once you want that repeat business, somebody
- 7:12Speaker 1: has their roof done. I still to this day rave
- 7:15Speaker 1: about the work that you guys did on our home.
- 7:17Speaker 1: And anytime we have something that you guys do, guess
- 7:19Speaker 1: who we're gonna call. We're gonna call Andrew, We're gonna
- 7:21Speaker 1: call ur Seno Services. I know that's an important thing
- 7:23Speaker 1: to you. And it goes as you mentioned. There's reasons
- 7:27Speaker 1: for that. Is you don't simply want to put a
- 7:29Speaker 1: band aid on something. And again this is a case
- 7:31Speaker 1: where that band aid isn't is not only is it
- 7:33Speaker 1: not going to cover the wound, it's just going to
- 7:36Speaker 1: make matters worse. Not only you guys not want to
- 7:37Speaker 1: do that, you want to make sure it's done right
- 7:39Speaker 1: and that the customer is educated about why you're doing
- 7:43Speaker 1: things a certain way and why it needs to be
- 7:44Speaker 1: done this way. Voila. They don't. They don't take that advice.
- 7:48Speaker 1: They learn the hard way, and you could avoid that.
- 7:50Speaker 1: That's one of the great things about working with Andrew
- 7:52Speaker 1: and the team. It's not high pressure. If you say,
- 7:54Speaker 1: you know what, I don't want to do this, or
- 7:57Speaker 1: I don't understand, or I think I can find somebody
- 8:00Speaker 1: to do it cheaper, or I don't think it needs
- 8:01Speaker 1: to be done, you'll have that education as a homeowner,
- 8:04Speaker 1: you can make that decision. But that's a nice thing.
- 8:06Speaker 1: There's no pressure. It's free to have that consultation. All
- 8:09Speaker 1: I got to just pick up phone Gemma call six
- 8:10Speaker 1: so eight five three five forty three forty three. That's
- 8:13Speaker 1: five three five four three four three. The website Larsenhomesservices

- 8:19Speaker 1: Services dot com. Real quick to Andrew, we do mention.
- 8:22Speaker 1: Of course, you guys have a YouTube channel that you're
- 8:25Speaker 1: always putting really great new videos up on about You
- 8:28Speaker 1: also are on social media as well, and you're doing
- 8:31Speaker 1: podcasts on other things. There's really a lot of avenues
- 8:33Speaker 1: for folks that want to learn more about Larsenalme Services,
- 8:35Speaker 1: aren't there?
- 8:36Speaker 2: There are?
- 8:37Speaker 3: And I really encourage people to watch the podcast. You
- 8:41Speaker 3: can skip the first couple of minutes. It's basically me
- 8:43Speaker 3: and Josh talking about sports. Yeah, and then we then
- 8:48Speaker 3: we truly get into the nuts and bolts of But
- 8:52Speaker 3: what I love is that we get a lot of
- 8:54Speaker 3: questions and comments.
- 8:55Speaker 2: Yeah, and it kind of leads us in.
- 8:57Speaker 3: And we've had people comment multiple times on different podcasts
- 9:01Speaker 3: like just wanting to gain knowledge and information in it,
- 9:04Speaker 3: and it's fun to see it kind of I don't
- 9:07Speaker 3: know what energizes us. We love doing it, but we
- 9:12Speaker 3: love the homeowner interaction. If you want to ask us
- 9:15Speaker 3: about siding or windows, or foundations or anything at all,
- 9:21Speaker 3: please do and we will do a podcast on it
- 9:23Speaker 3: because we can talk about gutters. I can talk about
- 9:26Speaker 3: gutters and roofing instulation all day, but you know, to
- 9:30Speaker 3: some people that's not that interesting. But between me and Josh,
- 9:34Speaker 3: we've got fifty years of experience in the industry. And
- 9:38Speaker 3: if we don't know the answer, we know somebody who does,
- 9:40Speaker 3: and we will do a podcast on it because you know,
- 9:44Speaker 3: helping people and answer. I mean, we've been answering questions
- 9:47Speaker 3: from the podcasts from people in Alabama, Texas, California, you
- 9:51Speaker 3: name it. It's really weird that people over the country
- 9:55Speaker 3: watch it. But I don't know, somebody must find it interesting.
- 10:00Speaker 3: I guess, Sean, it's fun stuff.
- 10:01Speaker 1: And as you mentioned, folks all over listening, I know
- 10:05Speaker 1: with the iHeartRadio app and other things. Folks listening to
- 10:07Speaker 1: the program this morning, I know you got obviously we

- 10:22Speaker 1: to Larsen Home Services, if folks can hear the voice,
- 10:25Speaker 1: if they're if they're anywhere in the Midwest, in Wisconsin,
