- 0:00Speaker 1: All right, Robin Ben Final four MVP. Asy Foot is here. Now.
- 0:04Speaker 1: I'm kind of go off what your buddy page said
- 0:05Speaker 1: last year. A lot of people show what you did publicly.
- 0:09Speaker 1: But it looks like you've been in the gym because
- 0:11Speaker 1: I've seen pictures you got guns, kid. You you look
- 0:13Speaker 1: like you you've been working out really hard.
- 0:16Speaker 2: I definitely have been. It was my first healthy, fully
- 0:19Speaker 2: healthy summer in a while. So being able to really
- 0:23Speaker 2: enjoy that, and you know, not just be in the
- 0:28Speaker 2: gym and in the you know, training room doing rehab stuff,
- 0:30Speaker 2: but being able to actually build on the stuff I've
- 0:32Speaker 2: been working on was it was an incredible feeling.
- 0:35Speaker 1: All right, you went to the US Open again?
- 0:36Speaker 2: Correct?
- 0:37Speaker 1: I did Hoco golf?
- 0:38Speaker 2: Yes?
- 0:39Speaker 1: Yeah, what's that relationship like with you too?
- 0:41Speaker 2: I'm a huge fan of her, definitely a fangirl. But
- 0:45Speaker 2: she is such an incredible person and athlete, and I
- 0:48Speaker 2: think she's such a great role model to young girls.
- 0:51Speaker 2: So if I can go watch her, if we drove down,
- 0:54Speaker 2: who was me and KK? We drove down after workout,
- 0:57Speaker 2: so we missed the beginning of it. I was like
- 0:59Speaker 2: a week to even watch just her hit the ball.
- 1:02Speaker 2: Once It'll be worth the drive. So it was incredible.
- 1:05Speaker 2: And then we got to watch the double's match after
- 1:09Speaker 2: we watched Venus play and that was unreal. So it
- 1:13Speaker 2: was a good It was a good US Open day.
- 1:15Speaker 1: Back to your workouts. Now, when you talk to football
- 1:18Speaker 1: players and they say, well, I put on X amount
- 1:20Speaker 1: of weight, and you asked, did it affect the way
- 1:23Speaker 1: you play? Did affect your speed? And they say no,
- 1:26Speaker 1: like it made you maybe a little bit quicker. What
- 1:29Speaker 1: were some of the payoffs that you saw after you
- 1:31Speaker 1: worked out on the basketball court for you and the
- 1:34Speaker 1: just the way you play, the way you move, that
- 1:36Speaker 1: sort of thing.
- 1:40Speaker 2: I definitely feel stronger. Yeah, I feel stronger, and I
- 1:45Speaker 2: think stronger and more confident. I think after last year,
- 1:49Speaker 2: you know you're coming back, you're rehaving to come back,
- 1:51Speaker 2: and then you come back, and there were points where
- 1:55Speaker 2: I just felt like I didn't fully have my legs
- 1:56Speaker 2: under me again, Like it was just a long, like
- 1:59Speaker 2: two year process of rehabbing and then straight to game.
- 2:02Speaker 2: So this is the most just I don't know, like
- 2:05Speaker 2: all around strength. I felt like it's like hard to
- 2:10Speaker 2: describe to someone who hasn't gone through it, but like
- 2:12Speaker 2: my jumps, like my jumps were good before I was cleared,
- 2:16Speaker 2: like everything passed, my legs were equal in strength. But
- 2:19Speaker 2: I feel like my right leg is starting to really
- 2:21Speaker 2: feel like normal again. So that's been and it was
- 2:25Speaker 2: something I didn't even realize during the season last year,
- 2:28Speaker 2: but I felt like this preseason, I've really started to realize, like, okay,
- 2:32Speaker 2: like this doesn't feel like, oh, I'm coming back from
- 2:35Speaker 2: an injury, Like I feel like I'm back. And that's
- 2:38Speaker 2: just it's a great feeling to have.
- 2:39Speaker 1: I asked you this after you beat USC and I
- 2:41Speaker 1: mean it was in the moment you hit that three
- 2:43Speaker 1: at the elevator screen to start the fourth because you
- 2:45Speaker 1: had struggled from the field that game. You had se
- 2:47Speaker 1: did a pretty good job defensively. Yeah, yeah, but things
- 2:51Speaker 1: changed after that and then the final four. You were
- 2:54Speaker 1: just like a bad out of you know what on
- 2:56Speaker 1: both ends of the four. And I mean that had
- 2:58Speaker 1: to feel really good what you did. And yeah, banked
- 3:00Speaker 1: went into against UCLA, but that's okay, they all count
- 3:03Speaker 1: the same.
- 3:04Speaker 2: It did go up, and it really it just goes
- 3:08Speaker 2: to show the incredible teammates that I had, because they
- 3:11Speaker 2: were the ones that throughout the whole game, I was
- 3:13Speaker 2: in my head like oh, like I haven't made a shot.
- 3:16Speaker 2: I'm just not going to shoot the ball. And just
- 3:19Speaker 2: you could tell. You could the way I played, you
- 3:20Speaker 2: could tell. And so I had my teammates the whole game,
- 3:22Speaker 2: We're like, come on, like you got it. You need
- 3:24Speaker 2: to shoot that, Like you're open, Like we believe in you.
- 3:26Speaker 2: You're gonna make it. So it's just it's so important
- 3:29Speaker 2: to have teammates that believe in you and that are
- 3:31Speaker 2: able to you know, give you, whether it's words of
- 3:34Speaker 2: encouragement or like that like it's time, like snap out
- 3:37Speaker 2: of it. Yeah, it's so important to have that when
- 3:40Speaker 2: you know you're you can't find it within yourself, your
- 3:42Speaker 2: teammates given to you. So I just I'm so lucky
- 3:44Speaker 2: and to be to be on a team with teammates
- 3:47Speaker 2: that you know, like that's a sign of love and
- 3:49Speaker 2: a sign of respect.
- 3:50Speaker 1: By the way Alex Caravan lives, the way you shoot
- 3:51Speaker 1: the basketball. Last thing I want to ask you after
- 3:55Speaker 1: losing to Tennessee, I did a coaches show with Gino
- 3:57Speaker 1: and it was that was a tough week. You go out,
- 4:00Speaker 1: you beat Providence, you go out and you have a
- 4:01Speaker 1: great game against Saint John's and then you guys go
- 4:03Speaker 1: out smoke South Carolina. What changed in that week to
- 4:07Speaker 1: really kick it and start going and then pageys afterwards
- 4:10Speaker 1: we play like this, we're winning the whole thing.
- 4:13Speaker 2: Yeah, I think Tennessee was. It was very eye opening
- 4:18Speaker 2: for us. It kind of they just showed all of
- 4:21Speaker 2: our flaws, everything we need to work on, and at
- 4:24Speaker 2: the end of the day they wanted it more. And
- 4:27Speaker 2: I think we went we went back and my coach said,
- 4:30Speaker 2: we did some soul searching and we needed to figure out,
- 4:32Speaker 2: you know, what is the identity of this team, Like
- 4:34Speaker 2: what do we need to work on? What are all
- 4:36Speaker 2: the things that we need to fix from that game
- 4:38Speaker 2: to not let happen again? Because that was unacceptable. We
- 4:42Speaker 2: couldn't let that happen again. And so we really all
- 4:44Speaker 2: of us as a team. And that's one of those
- 4:47Speaker 2: things like people, not one person, not just starting five,
- 4:50Speaker 2: can go back and you know, figure things out. It's
- 4:52Speaker 2: a team effort. And that's exactly what we did. And
- 4:56Speaker 2: I don't know, I think we were just we really
- 4:58Speaker 2: connected after that. We were like, okay, got on the
- 5:00Speaker 2: same page and got to work.
- 5:03Speaker 1: Yeah, well there's an all that and she kind of
- 5:04Speaker 1: makes good teams look really bad. Finally, Thursday, you're getting
- 5:08Speaker 1: a bling. You're getting a ring. Have you seen any
- 5:10Speaker 1: renderings of what this thing looks like? Or is this
- 5:13Speaker 1: gonna be a total surprise to you?
- 5:15Speaker 2: So the seniors actually helped design it, but this was
- 5:19Speaker 2: months ago, so I kind of forget what we macked,
- 5:22Speaker 2: so it's kind of like a nice surprise. I have
- 5:25Speaker 2: an idea of a couple of things we did, but I,
- 5:27Speaker 2: for the most part, don't really remember. So I am.
- 5:30Speaker 2: I'm so excited. It's gonna be an incredible evening. I'm excited.
- 5:34Speaker 2: First of well, I'm excited to see what everyone wears.
- 5:36Speaker 2: We're dressing up. But I'm so excited. I don't know
- 5:40Speaker 2: what other word to use. It's going to be incredible
- 5:43Speaker 2: and hopefully I don't cry well as.
- 5:45Speaker 1: The radio voice of this team, and I think I
- 5:47Speaker 1: speak for Debbie two. Thanks for getting us a ring.
- 5:49Speaker 1: Appreciate it, of course,
