- 0:00Speaker 1: The Mark Simone Show on 710WOR.
- 0:07Speaker 2: Hey, it's hour number two.
- 0:09Speaker 1: That's right.
- 0:10Speaker 2: We start at nine o'clock now. Hour number two. A
- 0:14Speaker 2: lot to get to this hour. Now, latest on Iran,
- 0:17Speaker 2: it might be Scott Besson that ends up winning this
- 0:21Speaker 2: war for us. We've done tremendous economic damage to them already.
- 0:26Speaker 2: And obviously we've completely eliminated their military. They no longer
- 0:30Speaker 2: have an air force. They no longer have a Navy.
- 0:32Speaker 2: They don't have much of an army left. They got
- 0:35Speaker 2: a couple of missiles and a few drones. That's all
- 0:38Speaker 2: they got. No military of any kind to speak of.
- 0:41Speaker 2: And then the economy is completely shut down right now.
- 0:45Speaker 2: No oil. We have oil coming in and out of
- 0:48Speaker 2: the Straits. We use the Southern corridor along the coast
- 0:51Speaker 2: of Oman, but Iran unable to ship any oil. And
- 0:57Speaker 2: the crackdown now begins trying to just shut down their
- 1:00Speaker 2: entire economy. Besant will order all the banks to no
- 1:04Speaker 2: longer do anything with Iran. And he's going to the
- 1:07Speaker 2: G20 summit where he'll talk to world leaders about putting
- 1:12Speaker 2: sanctions on Iran, freezing them out of the banking system
- 1:15Speaker 2: and everything else. The currency will collapse. Inflation is already 90%
- 1:19Speaker 2: in Iran. Besant, pretty good at this stuff. Because these
- 1:23Speaker 2: jobs are going to Americans. Now, when it comes to jobs,
- 1:26Speaker 2: that's the other thing. You get rid of all these migrants, illegals,
- 1:32Speaker 2: not immigrants. We like immigrants, but migrants, illegals that are here.
- 1:35Speaker 2: You free up a lot of jobs. Because these jobs
- 1:38Speaker 2: are going to Americans.
- 1:40Speaker 3: Like, we have seen over 2 million jobs created for Americans,
- 1:43Speaker 3: and we've seen over a million illegals leave the workforce.
- 1:47Speaker 3: And guess what? The laws of supply and demand still work.
- 1:50Speaker 3: When you take the illegals out of the workforce, working-class
- 1:54Speaker 3: wages go up. When you send them back home, rents
- 1:57Speaker 3: go down.
- 1:58Speaker 2: Yeah, there was always this myth, well, they do the
- 2:00Speaker 2: jobs Americans won't do. That's not true. Americans did all
- 2:05Speaker 2: those jobs for millions of years. What they do is
- 2:09Speaker 2: they'll do the jobs for one-third the price and put
- 2:12Speaker 2: Americans out of work. So, yeah. The jobs are back.
- 2:16Speaker 2: The economy doing pretty good. It's not the greatest economy
- 2:20Speaker 2: in history, but the economy is doing very well right now.
- 2:23Speaker 2: Yet the media trying to convince everybody that we're in
- 2:27Speaker 2: economic collapse. The economy is on the brink. Everybody is suffering.
- 2:31Speaker 2: That's not true at all. Inflation is relatively low. Employment
- 2:37Speaker 2: is high. Income into the average family is up like $ 2, 000.
- 2:41Speaker 2: Wages are up. The economy is doing pretty well, but
- 2:49Speaker 2: you don't really have actual news media anymore. They just
- 2:51Speaker 2: try to slant and distort and convince you. They did
- 2:55Speaker 2: that with George H.W. Bush in his final year. He
- 3:00Speaker 2: was getting ready for the race against Bill Clinton, and
- 3:03Speaker 2: they just broadcast day and night that the economy was
- 3:07Speaker 2: in terrible trouble. The economy was awful. And if you
- 3:11Speaker 2: do this day and night, it was easier back in 1999, 2000,
- 3:16Speaker 2: because there was no real Internet yet then. So you
- 3:19Speaker 2: could convince everybody the economy was terrible and they better vote.
- 3:23Speaker 2: It wasn't true at all. If you watch the CBS
- 3:26Speaker 2: Evening News with Dan Rather back then, every night they
- 3:30Speaker 2: would open with the headlines and they'd say, and coming up,
- 3:33Speaker 2: our feature, economy in crisis. You'd see this every night.
- 3:38Speaker 2: And coming up, our special feature, Economy in Crisis. Every
- 3:42Speaker 2: night you'd see this leading up to the election. Then
- 3:44Speaker 2: one day Bill Clinton wins. You never heard that feature again.
- 3:48Speaker 2: That night the feature disappeared. It was just to affect
- 3:51Speaker 2: the election. As I mentioned last hour, President Trump calling
- 3:57Speaker 2: on the FCC to go after Kristen Welker for broadcasting
- 4:00Speaker 2: false information. A lot of lies happen on those Sunday shows.
- 4:05Speaker 2: A lot of fake stuff is said.
- 4:07Speaker 4: So.
- 4:08Speaker 2: And you got these guys like, take George Stephanopoulos. They
- 4:12Speaker 2: try to convince you they're news people. They're journalists. They're not.
- 4:17Speaker 2: They're political operatives. They're political advocates. They're pushing a political
- 4:22Speaker 2: point of view. They're propagandists. You know, this Don Lemon case.
- 4:25Speaker 2: Don Lemon, they're going to go after Don Lemon for,
- 4:29Speaker 2: you know, going into that church, menacing people, terrorizing people
- 4:34Speaker 2: in the church, coming after them. And here's the Attorney
- 4:37Speaker 2: General Todd Blanch. Now, listen to Stephanopoulos. It doesn't say,
- 4:41Speaker 2: could you explain the case to us? He's advocating. He's
- 4:44Speaker 2: arguing the case against prosecuting Don Lemon. So when do
- 4:48Speaker 2: you believe that Mr.
- 4:50Speaker 5: Lemon crossed the line from reporting on what was going
- 4:52Speaker 5: on to criminal activity? Conveniently missing from what you just showed, George,
- 4:57Speaker 5: is the appellate court and a judge on the appellate
- 4:59Speaker 5: court who said just a few days later there was
- 5:01Speaker 5: clearly probable cause and it wasn't even a close question.
- 5:05Speaker 5: And by the way, a grand jury, which is what
- 5:07Speaker 5: our system has set up to determine whether probable cause exists,
- 5:10Speaker 5: concluded that there was probable cause.
- 5:13Speaker 2: Yeah, so Stephanopoulos trying to con the audience. He tried
- 5:15Speaker 2: to make it sound like there was no reason to
- 5:17Speaker 2: go after this guy. It was just some crazy thing
- 5:19Speaker 2: you came up with. He's convincing the audience. Why would
- 5:25Speaker 2: you go after, forgot to mention, a federal judge ruled
- 5:29Speaker 2: on it, a grand jury ruled on it. It's not
- 5:31Speaker 2: Todd Blanche. A court, a judge, a jury, grand jury.
- 5:36Speaker 2: ruled there was reason to go after Lemon. It looked
- 5:38Speaker 2: like he committed a crime.
- 5:40Speaker 5: But nobody in this country should feel comfortable storming into
- 5:43Speaker 5: a church while it's ongoing and disrupting that church service
- 5:47Speaker 5: and thinking that we're just going to stand by and
- 5:50Speaker 5: let that happen because there is a statute that does
- 5:53Speaker 5: not allow that to happen. It doesn't matter if you
- 5:55Speaker 5: happen to be a former CNN journalist. It doesn't matter
- 5:59Speaker 5: if you're a rioter. It doesn't matter if you think
- 6:01Speaker 5: you're peacefully protesting. You are not allowed.
- 6:03Speaker 2: To do that. Yeah, let's be honest. Don Lemon wasn't
- 6:06Speaker 2: there in Minnesota to report on anything. He was there
- 6:09Speaker 2: to advocate. He was there just to push his crazy
- 6:14Speaker 2: politics on people. Hey, in Michigan, you got this Abdul
- 6:18Speaker 2: El-Sayed running. So we know he's an anti-Semite. We know
- 6:23Speaker 2: he's anti-Israel. But he's been taking racist swipes at Usha Vance,
- 6:30Speaker 2: the second lady, wife of Vice President Vance. He's been
- 6:34Speaker 2: going after her. She's Indian American. And he's really been
- 6:38Speaker 2: hitting her hard, making fun of her. And he said,
- 6:44Speaker 2: so I guess Vance's father is no longer with us,
- 6:48Speaker 2: he said. But do we think J.D. would take Usha
- 6:52Speaker 2: with him back in time to meet Papa? I guess
- 6:55Speaker 2: that's what Vance in his book said he called his father.
- 6:58Speaker 2: So he's implying that... The father would be repulsed that
- 7:01Speaker 2: he married an Indian-American. It's all kinds of racist nonsense
- 7:05Speaker 2: from El-Sayed. But the good news is it's backfiring badly
- 7:09Speaker 2: in Michigan, where there are 130,000 Indian-Americans, and they're crucial
- 7:16Speaker 2: voters there in some districts. So they're up in arms
- 7:20Speaker 2: about Vance. And a lot of women are turning on him.
- 7:22Speaker 2: They don't like the fact that he went after the
- 7:23Speaker 2: wife and attacked her for her nationality. Not a good
- 7:29Speaker 2: look for Vance, so he's getting a lot of pushback there. Now,
- 7:32Speaker 2: this is a big state, and it's very important to
- 7:34Speaker 2: female vote there. Michigan, it's a swing state. Third biggest
- 7:40Speaker 2: when it comes to female voting, female voter participation. Sixty-nine
- 7:44Speaker 2: percent of women turn out in Michigan, so he's got
- 7:48Speaker 2: a big problem there. He's also got a very, very
- 7:53Speaker 2: tiny slight lead over Mike Rogers, but that should evaporate
- 7:58Speaker 2: pretty soon. But again, he's gone after Usha a few times. Now,
- 8:03Speaker 2: they're sending Vance to Michigan to campaign against J.D. Vance.
- 8:09Speaker 2: He's from Ohio. Ohio, Michigan, they border each other. It's
- 8:13Speaker 2: all the same place, although there's that Michigan-Ohio state rivalry,
- 8:17Speaker 2: but still, Ohio, Michigan, they're pretty much the same. So Ohio, J.D.
- 8:23Speaker 2: Vance is from there. He speaks the language. And he'll
- 8:27Speaker 2: be campaigning against El Sayed. And he probably will do
- 8:29Speaker 2: him a lot of damage when they're, you know, he's
- 8:32Speaker 2: also got the problems with all his Hassan Piker stuff,
- 8:35Speaker 2: who is an ugly, dirty, dirty anti-Semite. In fact, you
- 8:40Speaker 2: got Jamie Raskin was there trying to campaign for El Sayed.
- 8:45Speaker 2: Debbie Dingle, who's an old, old Michigan Democrat. They tried
- 8:49Speaker 2: to ask her about Hassan Piker, screaming at the reporter,
- 8:52Speaker 2: don't ask me about Hassan Piker. That's not what this
- 8:55Speaker 2: is about. Yes, it is. It's exactly what this is about.
- 8:59Speaker 2: It's what it's about. This guy's perceived as a racist,
- 9:02Speaker 2: an anti-Semite, hanging around with anti-Semites. It's exactly what it's about.
- 9:07Speaker 2: So the midterms, I know, and this is the other thing,
- 9:09Speaker 2: the media will convince you that Democrats are way out
- 9:12Speaker 2: in the lead for the midterms. It's not true at all.
- 9:16Speaker 2: The way they do that, it's just like Stephanopoulos. They
- 9:18Speaker 2: leave out half the story. They'll give you some facts,
- 9:21Speaker 2: but leave out the other facts of the story. So
- 9:25Speaker 2: you'll see this all over the place. They do it
- 9:26Speaker 2: all the time on MSNBC. They'll put up Trump's poll numbers.
- 9:29Speaker 2: Look how low his approval ratings are. Look at that.
- 9:33Speaker 2: That is, look how low his approval ratings are. They
- 9:36Speaker 2: never mention the Democrats. The Democrats are much lower approval
- 9:42Speaker 2: ratings than Trump. Trump's approval ratings are a little low.
- 9:46Speaker 2: Democrats are the lowest approval ratings ever in history. They're
- 9:51Speaker 2: setting records in polls. for lowest approval rates. The only
- 9:56Speaker 2: guy that does it is, believe it or not, is
- 9:58Speaker 2: this guy on CNN, Harry Enten, their pollster. Trump even
- 10:01Speaker 2: praising him over the weekend on Truth Social, saying good
- 10:06Speaker 2: for him. You know, he actually, actually gives him a
- 10:09Speaker 2: drop of credibility. He's the only guy that actually reports
- 10:13Speaker 2: all the poll numbers. They con you on everywhere else.
- 10:17Speaker 2: that Trump's low, never mentioning that Democrats are 100 times lower.
- 10:21Speaker 2: So right now, it looks pretty good for Republicans in
- 10:23Speaker 2: the midterms. Also remember, a guy like Trump, very, very
- 10:27Speaker 2: concerned about his legacy. He knows it's his final two years.
- 10:33Speaker 2: He knows when he leaves, they're going to try to
- 10:35Speaker 2: tear him apart. Legacy is important. So this is a
- 10:38Speaker 2: big thing for him, winning these midterms, because historically, you
- 10:41Speaker 2: always lose the midterms when you're president. You get elected,
- 10:45Speaker 2: and then two years later, You lose the midterms. That's
- 10:48Speaker 2: always the way. It happens to every Democrat, every Republican. Rare,
- 10:52Speaker 2: rare exception. So this is part of his legacy, to
- 10:57Speaker 2: defy the odds and win the midterms. So you're going
- 10:59Speaker 2: to see him. It hasn't really started yet. It's October. September, October,
- 11:04Speaker 2: you're going to see him really pour it on, really
- 11:06Speaker 2: hit the gas, trying to win those midterms. And he
- 11:09Speaker 2: probably will pull it off. Now, you know, in Canada,
- 11:13Speaker 2: where they're all upset about Lake America... In fact, we
- 11:17Speaker 2: find out now that, well, Google has already changed it
- 11:21Speaker 2: to Lake America on Google Maps. But we find out
- 11:24Speaker 2: now that the White House has also asked Apple to
- 11:29Speaker 2: change it to Lake of America on Apple Maps. Now,
- 11:33Speaker 2: you say, well, that's crazy. They shouldn't cave in. Well,
- 11:36Speaker 2: you know, Google may be right. Secretary of the Interior
- 11:40Speaker 2: Doug Burgum explaining that when it comes to these names,
- 11:44Speaker 2: they're determined by the Department of Interior. which runs the
- 11:48Speaker 2: Board of Geographic Names. It's part of the U.S. Geological Survey,
- 11:53Speaker 2: and it's the official naming body of the United States government.
- 11:57Speaker 2: So if they declare it's the Gulf of America or
- 12:01Speaker 2: Lake America, well, then that's it. It is officially. Now
- 12:05Speaker 2: you get a Democrat in, he'll change it back, but
- 12:07Speaker 2: apparently they've asked Apple, who's a little late on this, Now,
- 12:11Speaker 2: when it comes to Canada, I know you feel bad.
- 12:13Speaker 2: Why aren't you picking on Canada? Where they're our most
- 12:15Speaker 2: beloved ally? Eh, you know what? Oh, they're okay. But
- 12:22Speaker 2: they're pretty bad in Canada, too. You know, the big network.
- 12:25Speaker 2: They got one big network, the CBC, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation.
- 12:30Speaker 2: The CBC. That's what everybody watches. That's their nightly news.
- 12:34Speaker 2: That's their Sunday shows. That's their network for news, the CBC. Well,
- 12:39Speaker 2: this came out. late last week, that there was a
- 12:43Speaker 2: memo sent to everybody at the CBC. The CBC News
- 12:48Speaker 2: Senior Director of Journalistic Standards and Public Trust sent out
- 12:55Speaker 2: a memo to everybody there. September 11th coming up, there'll
- 12:59Speaker 2: be a lot of reporting on September 11th. They were
- 13:02Speaker 2: all told in this memo, here's the exact quote, Do
- 13:06Speaker 2: not refer to the September 11th attacks as terrorist attacks.
- 13:12Speaker 2: That's right. That's how bad the CBC is. They will
- 13:16Speaker 2: not call September 11th a terrorist attack. The memo from
- 13:20Speaker 2: their Director of Journalistic Standards and Public Trust, the memo
- 13:24Speaker 2: said they are to be described as hijackings that led
- 13:29Speaker 2: to passenger jet crashes. Okay, there was a hijacking, but
- 13:34Speaker 2: it was not a When you say a jet crash,
- 13:38Speaker 2: it sounds like it was an accident, an accidentally crash.
- 13:42Speaker 2: These were not accidents. These were deliberate terrorist attacks. So
- 13:45Speaker 2: that is about the lowest in fake news that any
- 13:49Speaker 2: network could ever sink, not calling them terrorist attacks. But
- 13:53Speaker 2: that's the CBC. So don't feel a lot of sympathy
- 13:57Speaker 2: for Canada. Hey, Caroline Levitt stepped down as White House
- 14:03Speaker 2: press secretary yesterday. You know, she's only 29. Yeah, she
- 14:07Speaker 2: was the youngest White House press secretary ever. She's only 29.
- 14:10Speaker 2: She's from New Hampshire originally. Now, she's got a standing
- 14:13Speaker 2: offer to be on Fox News. She's got all kinds
- 14:17Speaker 2: of TV offers, radio offers. But she said, not going
- 14:21Speaker 2: to do that. She said she really did leave. This
- 14:23Speaker 2: is the first person in history, by the way. You know,
- 14:25Speaker 2: they always say, I'm leaving to spend more time with
- 14:27Speaker 2: my family. This is the first person in history who's
- 14:31Speaker 2: actually telling the truth. She's got a two-year-old and she
- 14:34Speaker 2: just had a baby who's four months now. And she
- 14:37Speaker 2: really wants to spend time with her kids. She's married
- 14:40Speaker 2: to a wealthy guy. She's married to, he's older. He's like,
- 14:45Speaker 2: I think 25 years older, but good guy. And she
- 14:48Speaker 2: wants to be with her children. She wants to raise
- 14:50Speaker 2: her children. She's been invited by The View to be
- 14:55Speaker 2: a guest. The View never allows any Republicans to We're conservatives.
- 14:59Speaker 2: No Trump people ever allowed on The View. This is
- 15:01Speaker 2: a rare exception. Now, this could be because the administration
- 15:06Speaker 2: has been coming after fake news and talking about the
- 15:10Speaker 2: FCC going after them. So maybe The View has been
- 15:12Speaker 2: ordered to try to put a little balance, just a
- 15:15Speaker 2: drop of balance in there. So maybe that's why they've
- 15:18Speaker 2: invited her on there. I doubt if she'll do it.
- 15:21Speaker 2: I mean, why do it? If you're going to go
- 15:23Speaker 2: do a TV show. At least go on a classy
- 15:26Speaker 2: highbrow show, not the low IQ show with those old crows,
- 15:30Speaker 2: those clucking hens sitting there. Hey, we'll take some calls next.
- 15:33Speaker 2: 800-321-0710 is the number. We'll take some calls next. If
- 15:40Speaker 2: you haven't called before, we love new callers.
- 15:42Speaker 1: 800-321-0710.
- 15:42Speaker 4: No.
- 15:43Speaker 2: The Mark Simone Show. Nine till noon weekdays. More Mark.
- 15:52Speaker 4: 710WOR.
- 15:55Speaker 1: Hey.
- 15:56Speaker 2: Hey, nobody's calling. I've never had that happen before. I
- 16:00Speaker 2: gave out the number. Phones light up.
- 16:02Speaker 1: Look at that.
- 16:03Speaker 2: Nobody's calling. What's going on here? 800-321-0710 is the number.
- 16:08Speaker 2: We get calls from all over the country normally. 800-321-0710.
- 16:12Speaker 2: So if you're one of those people, I could never
- 16:16Speaker 2: get through. Well, there's nobody calling right now.
- 16:18Speaker 4: 800-321-0710.
- 16:18Speaker 2: Give us a call. Hey, happy birthday to Warren Buffett.
- 16:19Speaker 2: He's 96 today. 96 years old today. Warren Buffett still
- 16:23Speaker 2: goes to work every day. uh, he, uh, the only
- 16:42Speaker 2: problem he, uh, you know, he was just a simple guy.
- 16:45Speaker 2: He has a 12 year old car. He drives himself
- 16:47Speaker 2: to work every day. He goes to a McDonald's. He, uh,
- 16:52Speaker 2: he has a two, two orders. One is the, uh, uh,
- 16:55Speaker 2: the egg McMuffin. And then the other, I forgot the
- 16:58Speaker 2: other one flips a coin.
- 17:01Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 17:01Speaker 2: Diet Coke all day and night. Now the only problem
- 17:04Speaker 2: is At 96, his eyes aren't so good. He can't
- 17:08Speaker 2: drive anymore. Last time I talked to him, he said
- 17:10Speaker 2: that's the one thing that's killing him. He's got to
- 17:13Speaker 2: have a driver now. He's a simple guy. He doesn't
- 17:15Speaker 2: like a driver. But McDonald's every day. He said he
- 17:17Speaker 2: has the diet of a 12-year-old. McDonald's, Diet Coke, candy
- 17:24Speaker 2: all day. Look at this. Now we've got 12,000 calls.
- 17:26Speaker 2: Now we don't have enough time for all these calls.
- 17:28Speaker 2: Let's go to Gene in Bacon, New York. Gene, how
- 17:31Speaker 2: are you doing?
- 17:33Speaker 1: I'm doing great.
- 17:35Speaker 6: You know, I wish that you and I could sit
- 17:37Speaker 6: down for about an hour and just talk.
- 17:40Speaker 2: Oh, God.
- 17:40Speaker 7: Yeah, that sounds great.
- 17:42Speaker 6: Huh?
- 17:44Speaker 1: But anyway.
- 17:44Speaker 6: What would we talk about? Well, about my father, who
- 17:50Speaker 6: was a Democrat.
- 17:52Speaker 1: Fascinating.
- 17:52Speaker 6: Who came along in the... came along in the depression.
- 17:56Speaker 6: He used to write legislation for Carter.
- 17:58Speaker 2: Let me just explain something off the air. I never
- 18:01Speaker 2: talk about politics ever with anybody ever. No politics, no politics.
- 18:06Speaker 2: So what else would we know?
- 18:07Speaker 6: Well, I do want to say something that I wish
- 18:11Speaker 6: that you and Donald Trump might talk about. Um, the,
- 18:15Speaker 6: the destruction of the North rim lodge out in Arizona
- 18:20Speaker 6: burned down about a year and a half ago. And,
- 18:23Speaker 6: Has he mentioned anything about the rebuilding of that building,
- 18:28Speaker 6: of the lodge?
- 18:29Speaker 2: And what burned down? What kind of lodge? I don't
- 18:31Speaker 2: even know about this.
- 18:32Speaker 6: Well, the tourist lodge on the north rim of the
- 18:35Speaker 6: Grand Canyon. I was there years ago as a youngster,
- 18:39Speaker 6: and he would be able to rebuild that thing and
- 18:43Speaker 6: bring some creativity to it. It was a rustic building.
- 18:46Speaker 2: Yeah, but you got to remember, if he rebuilds it,
- 18:49Speaker 2: it's going to have gold all over it. It's going to,
- 18:50Speaker 2: you know. He might not be the guy for that lodge.
- 18:55Speaker 2: But it's a good point. Yeah, he should get on that.
- 18:57Speaker 2: But maybe let somebody else do the decorating on that one.
- 19:01Speaker 2: Let's go to Vic in Pennsylvania. Vic, how are you doing?
- 19:06Speaker 6: I'm doing fine, Mark.
- 19:08Speaker 7: Mark, I just wanted to bring out, when you were
- 19:09Speaker 7: on the prior radio station, you were on all the time.
- 19:12Speaker 7: I think you set the Guinness Book of World Records
- 19:16Speaker 7: for being on so much. And I would listen to
- 19:19Speaker 7: you constantly. So three hours, I want you to do
- 19:23Speaker 7: another three hours.
- 19:25Speaker 2: Well, some days I fill in for Hannity, so that's
- 19:26Speaker 2: three plus three. That'll be six. All right, thanks. Yeah,
- 19:31Speaker 2: all of us here, Sean Hannity, Rush, we were all
- 19:34Speaker 2: at the other station. What does Sean call it? Our ex-wife.
- 19:38Speaker 2: That's the other station. It was our ex-wife. Let's go
- 19:41Speaker 2: to Scrapper. Is that your name? Scrapper in Connecticut?
- 19:47Speaker 1: I'm here, yeah. You're excellent show you're excellent they don't
- 19:51Speaker 1: seem to want to talk about the budget and cutting
- 19:55Speaker 1: the budget that's the big problem they avoid discussing that
- 20:00Speaker 1: who does The city of New York, especially.
- 20:06Speaker 5: Oh, yeah.
- 20:07Speaker 2: Well, of course, they're going to avoid that. I'm not
- 20:09Speaker 2: going to mention that. That's what they do for a living.
- 20:11Speaker 2: Spend our money. You know, that's the he's right. He's
- 20:15Speaker 2: absolutely right. That is the single biggest problem. You can
- 20:17Speaker 2: solve everything in one second. Just stop overspending. The government overspends.
- 20:24Speaker 2: You know, we pay like a thousand percent more than
- 20:26Speaker 2: everything costs for whatever it is. Roads, potholes, subways. 1,000%
- 20:31Speaker 2: more than you're supposed to spend than it actually costs.
- 20:34Speaker 2: The $ 108 billion city budget could actually easily be $ 40 billion.
- 20:40Speaker 2: And if you spent the money legitimately, you'd have better service.
- 20:44Speaker 2: Everybody's taxes could be cut like 65%. Just stop wasting
- 20:48Speaker 2: money with all the fraud, waste, bloat, all of that stuff.
- 20:52Speaker 2: Let's go to John in Long Island. John, how are
- 20:54Speaker 2: you doing?
- 20:55Speaker 6: Hey, good morning, Mark.
- 20:57Speaker 2: Yes, John.
- 20:58Speaker 6: Okay, just following up on something you brought up last week, Mark,
- 21:02Speaker 6: regarding the Kennedy Center and Trump. I'm an architect and
- 21:06Speaker 6: also a construction manager. And I think the best thing
- 21:11Speaker 6: is to tear it down because when you start to
- 21:13Speaker 6: remediate something like that, I worked on projects where you
- 21:17Speaker 6: spend half a million dollars just on a specious abatement.
- 21:21Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 21:21Speaker 6: Okay, and then like at the end of the day,
- 21:23Speaker 6: you wind up spending more on a retro building than
- 21:26Speaker 6: to tear it and rebuild it.
- 21:29Speaker 2: Well, it's kind of historic. It's got kind of a
- 21:31Speaker 2: landmark sort of a thing to it. You can't really
- 21:33Speaker 2: tear it.
- 21:35Speaker 6: Take part of it. Take part of it and just, hey,
- 21:37Speaker 6: here's a dedication to John F. Kennedy. And then restore
- 21:41Speaker 6: the rest of the thing.
- 21:42Speaker 2: Well, apparently the problem, because I've talked to the people there,
- 21:46Speaker 2: just to get to the bottom of it, it was
- 21:48Speaker 2: built section by section. They kept adding on to it.
- 21:51Speaker 2: And when they'd add on, they didn't quite connect everything right.
- 21:54Speaker 2: And there was a pipe system that was connected to
- 21:56Speaker 2: another pipe system. And the real problem, the reason it's
- 21:59Speaker 2: collapsing with what they called water intrusion. You know what
- 22:04Speaker 2: can happen when you got leaks and water everywhere and
- 22:06Speaker 2: it just weakens everything. So there's parts of the building
- 22:09Speaker 2: close to collapse. That's why when they say they got
- 22:13Speaker 2: to shut it down, that's why it's two years. I mean,
- 22:15Speaker 2: they have to rebuild almost the entire building. Happened to
- 22:18Speaker 2: the White House at one time in the late 1940s.
- 22:22Speaker 2: I remember Harry Truman had a daughter who played the piano.
- 22:25Speaker 2: So they put a big piano there. up in the residence.
- 22:28Speaker 2: And as she's playing, it started to fall through the floor.
- 22:31Speaker 2: The whole floor of the White House residence started crumbling.
- 22:34Speaker 2: And they found out the same thing, that the whole
- 22:37Speaker 2: White House had to be gutted, literally, the entire White House.
- 22:41Speaker 2: Truman had to move out for two years while they
- 22:43Speaker 2: rebuilt the entire interior. One more call real fast. Let's
- 22:47Speaker 2: go to Eric in the Bronx. Eric, how are you doing?
- 22:50Speaker 1: Hey, Mark, how you doing?
- 22:51Speaker 8: Long time listening to you, especially when you were playing music.
- 22:55Speaker 8: But when I was listening last week with all these
- 23:00Speaker 8: socialists winning these tickets in New York, why can't we
- 23:05Speaker 8: do what they did in Buffalo when the mayor was
- 23:08Speaker 8: running and the socialists beat him and they did the
- 23:10Speaker 8: write-in ballots? And in the end, he ended up winning.
- 23:14Speaker 8: Why can't we do that here?
- 23:16Speaker 6: Oh, right.
- 23:16Speaker 2: We're going to do it. You didn't say what it is.
- 23:18Speaker 2: What do we do?
- 23:19Speaker 8: Write-in ballots. These socialists run, so why can't we do
- 23:22Speaker 8: the write-in ballots?
- 23:23Speaker 2: Well, you can do a write-in ballot. You can do it.
- 23:25Speaker 2: It's just.
- 23:25Speaker 8: Yeah, but I mean, why aren't we doing a big,
- 23:27Speaker 8: massive campaign?
- 23:29Speaker 2: Well, one of the reasons, we don't have a Republican
- 23:31Speaker 2: Party in New York. I mean, there's a little one,
- 23:33Speaker 2: but it doesn't have any manpower. It doesn't have any
- 23:35Speaker 2: ground game. It doesn't have much staff. It's really, that's
- 23:38Speaker 2: the problem. The Republicans don't have a machine here in
- 23:41Speaker 2: New York. It's just... A bunch of clubs, the Republican
- 23:44Speaker 2: Club of this, the Republican Club of that. And it's
- 23:45Speaker 2: just old ladies who throw cocktail parties, take pictures with celebrities,
- 23:50Speaker 2: post it on their Instagram. They don't actually do anything
- 23:52Speaker 2: to help any campaigns. Hey, when we come back, the
- 23:54Speaker 2: greatest columnist in America, Michael Goodwin. We'll talk to him
- 23:59Speaker 2: next on 710WOR. Live from the WOR LifeVac studios. Well,
- 24:08Speaker 2: here's the best columnist in America, Michael Goodwin. You can
- 24:11Speaker 2: read his column every Sunday and every Wednesday in the
- 24:16Speaker 2: New York Post. And all of his columns are up
- 24:18Speaker 2: on the New York Post website if you want to
- 24:20Speaker 2: read them. And he's with us now. Michael Goodwin, how
- 24:22Speaker 2: are you doing?
- 24:24Speaker 4: Good morning, Mark.
- 24:25Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 24:26Speaker 2: Hey, I love this column about Hakeem Jeffries meets with
- 24:30Speaker 2: Jared Kushner. And apparently they have a long relationship. He
- 24:33Speaker 2: was their first term. So why would the Democrats melt
- 24:38Speaker 2: down over this meeting?
- 24:41Speaker 4: Well, there's no logical answer, Mark. It's really, I think,
- 24:45Speaker 4: just a sign of the radicalization of the Democratic Party.
- 24:52Speaker 4: Of course, the progressive members are driving that, but the
- 24:56Speaker 4: other members are quaking in fear of it. And so
- 25:00Speaker 4: when Jeffries dares to meet with a the devil, the
- 25:05Speaker 4: representative of the devil, you have to erupt. You have
- 25:10Speaker 4: to accuse Jeffries of making a mistake because otherwise you're
- 25:15Speaker 4: seen as being soft on Trump and you're being mainstream
- 25:20Speaker 4: and you're being establishment. You're being a corporate Democrat and
- 25:24Speaker 4: you're taking money from AIPAC. All these things just fall
- 25:29Speaker 4: off the lips of the radicals and puts Jeffries on
- 25:34Speaker 4: defense for simply holding a member, holding a meeting with
- 25:40Speaker 4: President Trump's son-in-law and advisor.
- 25:43Speaker 6: I mean, it's looting tunes.
- 25:45Speaker 2: Yeah, don't these guys, these Schumers and Jeffries and these types,
- 25:50Speaker 2: trying to appease them and bow down to them, don't
- 25:53Speaker 2: they realize these socialists, they're going to throw them overboard
- 25:56Speaker 2: at some point?
- 25:58Speaker 4: Oh, sure. Look, I mean, that's the... I write about
- 26:03Speaker 4: the Justice Democrats email, which talks about Jeffries and Schumer
- 26:09Speaker 4: just being the old mainstream corporate Democrats. And they want
- 26:14Speaker 4: to throw them over. Look, they don't have the numbers yet.
- 26:18Speaker 4: But what they do have in our system is if
- 26:22Speaker 4: you can stymie the majority, even if Democrats take the House,
- 26:27Speaker 4: will the majority... stick together or will it be a
- 26:32Speaker 4: civil war in the Democrats? I mean, I think that's
- 26:36Speaker 4: what we're witnessing right now.
- 26:39Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 26:40Speaker 2: Hey, you quote, um, uh, this podcast, Jared Kushner has
- 26:44Speaker 2: no actual government job. That's not true. He's the chief negotiator.
- 26:48Speaker 2: That's a pretty big job.
- 26:50Speaker 4: Yeah. I guess he, he's not on the, the white house, uh,
- 26:56Speaker 4: roster of paid employees or cons from firms. I mean,
- 27:01Speaker 4: the president has lots of leeway. So, and obviously Jared
- 27:06Speaker 4: Kushner has his ear and it came out later and
- 27:10Speaker 4: didn't get much attention. But the meeting was because Kushner
- 27:16Speaker 4: and Jeffries had worked together on prison reforms in Trump's
- 27:22Speaker 4: first term, which is a big issue. For both, but
- 27:26Speaker 4: the Democrats quickly forgot that because Kushner is a Trump person,
- 27:31Speaker 4: therefore you cannot talk to him. I mean, even the
- 27:34Speaker 4: crazy James Carvel broke new ground in that front.
- 27:39Speaker 2: But, I don't know, these socialists, they just want, what
- 27:45Speaker 2: do they just want? Revolution, blood? What are they really
- 27:47Speaker 2: after if they don't want to talk? Yeah, yeah.
- 27:50Speaker 4: Go on power. It starts with power, right?
- 27:53Speaker 1: And I think.
- 27:54Speaker 4: That's what the Democratic Party has failed to reckon with.
- 27:58Speaker 4: They tried to meet them partway on some things. I mean,
- 28:03Speaker 4: take Kathy Hochul, for example, in New York, how the
- 28:06Speaker 4: governor has gone along with Mayor Montani, one of the socialists,
- 28:11Speaker 4: probably the highest ranking socialist. And what has Hochul done
- 28:18Speaker 4: with that? She's ended up just doing dumb things. that
- 28:22Speaker 4: could backfire on her and her election. So if you
- 28:27Speaker 4: try to try to modify or work with the socialists,
- 28:32Speaker 4: they're going to just call out to you and you're
- 28:34Speaker 4: never going to be able to satisfy them. They don't
- 28:37Speaker 4: want to fix the system. They want to destroy the
- 28:41Speaker 4: system and that mainstream Democrats, what's left of them have
- 28:46Speaker 4: to come to grips with that reality.
- 28:49Speaker 2: Hey, when they talk about seizing the means of production,
- 28:52Speaker 2: As soon as they get a hold of the means
- 28:54Speaker 2: of production, all they do is collapse. I mean, these
- 28:57Speaker 2: grocery stores, Mamdani's grocery store, we'll never see these. Everything
- 29:01Speaker 2: he proposes never actually happens. How would they control production?
- 29:06Speaker 4: Well, that's the thing, because they don't want to build anything.
- 29:10Speaker 4: They just want to destroy. And that's why wherever socialism
- 29:17Speaker 4: has full power, people have starved, right? The decline of
- 29:23Speaker 4: living standards is remarkable. I mean, it's why so much
- 29:28Speaker 4: of the world is behind for a century of capitalism,
- 29:37Speaker 4: free markets, free ideas, free expression. Those are the things
- 29:42Speaker 4: that feed more people, that protect more people, get people
- 29:46Speaker 4: more opportunity. The land of opportunity, right? That's what America is.
- 29:52Speaker 4: And where are they coming from? They're coming from socialist
- 29:55Speaker 4: countries who do not have opportunity.
- 30:00Speaker 2: Hey, November, Election Day, don't you think the Democrats are
- 30:04Speaker 2: going to get a rude awakening that they went way
- 30:06Speaker 2: too far?
- 30:08Speaker 8: I don't know, Mark.
- 30:09Speaker 4: I'm not confident. I'm just reading the real clear politics,
- 30:14Speaker 4: and it's looking increasingly like the Democrats have the edge
- 30:20Speaker 4: going into the midterms in both the Senate and House races.
- 30:26Speaker 4: If that were to be the case... then I think
- 30:29Speaker 4: if they were to take both houses, that would make
- 30:32Speaker 4: for a very difficult two years for President Trump. And
- 30:37Speaker 4: there's no question that impeachment would be high on the list,
- 30:43Speaker 4: investigations over and over. So I think there's a lot
- 30:48Speaker 4: at stake in this midterm elections, as you recall, Art.
- 30:54Speaker 4: Back in 2018, which was the midterm of President Trump's
- 30:58Speaker 4: first term, the Democrats, the far-left Democrats, took over the
- 31:03Speaker 4: state Senate in New York, among other institutions, and wrecked
- 31:09Speaker 4: the New York. That's when all the taxes started going up.
- 31:13Speaker 4: The attack on energy drove up fuel prices, the green this,
- 31:18Speaker 4: the green that. So there's a lot of downstream results.
- 31:22Speaker 4: If Democrats make Congress. Wow.
- 31:26Speaker 2: Well, everybody go read Michael Goodwin's column. It's up on
- 31:29Speaker 2: the New York Post website. You can read him every
- 31:31Speaker 2: Sunday and every Wednesday in the New York Post. Great stuff.
- 31:35Speaker 2: Michael Goodwin, thanks for being with us.
- 31:38Speaker 4: Oh, it's a pleasure, Mark.
- 31:39Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 31:40Speaker 2: Take care. Hey, we've got a lot coming up in
- 31:43Speaker 2: the next hour, so stay with us. You know, I'm
- 31:46Speaker 2: here now three hours every day, 9 to noon, 9 a.m.
- 31:49Speaker 2: to noon every day. Then Buck and Clay, every day
- 31:52Speaker 2: at noon, you get two hosts for the price of one,
- 31:54Speaker 2: and you get a lot more info that way. Three o'clock,
- 31:57Speaker 2: you got the most listened to radio show in America,
- 32:01Speaker 2: Sean Hannity. You got Jesse Kelly, six o'clock every night.
- 32:04Speaker 2: Jimmy Fallon, what a great show. You'll love this show.
- 32:08Speaker 4: Smart.
- 32:08Speaker 2: 20 every night, 9 to midnight on 710WOR. Mark's a mom.
- 32:14Speaker 1: Mr.
- 32:15Speaker 2: New York. Now three hours every weekday from 9 till
- 32:19Speaker 2: noon on 710WOR. Well, it's hard to believe we're heading
- 32:26Speaker 2: into Labor Day weekend. That's right. You'll see the city
- 32:30Speaker 2: get emptier and emptier and emptier. People are taking a
- 32:32Speaker 2: lot of time off for this week. It's a big,
- 32:35Speaker 2: big vacation week. Labor Day weekend coming up. It's already,
- 32:38Speaker 2: any time weekends, there's football all over TV. I know,
- 32:44Speaker 2: you go in the store, there's Halloween candy, there's pumpkin spice. Yeah,
- 32:48Speaker 2: you're right. They did start it earlier than usual. Everybody
- 32:51Speaker 2: launched a pumpkin spice earlier than usual. Dunkin' Donuts, Starbucks,
- 32:56Speaker 2: all started earlier. And, I don't know why, but this
- 32:59Speaker 2: pumpkin spice stuff, not selling as well as usual. Maybe
- 33:03Speaker 2: because they went too early. Or, Maybe. It's possible. People
- 33:09Speaker 2: realize it was cute in the beginning, pumpkin spice, but
- 33:12Speaker 2: do you really want your coffee to taste like pumpkin?
- 33:15Speaker 1: Not really.
- 33:16Speaker 2: Pumpkin pie, that's it. Delicious. Pumpkin pie. That's about the
- 33:20Speaker 2: only use for pumpkin food-wise. You don't really want pumpkin milkshake.
- 33:26Speaker 2: You don't want pumpkin coffee. You don't want any of that.
- 33:29Speaker 2: So it's Labor Day weekend coming up. You're going to
- 33:31Speaker 2: see rain for the next few days, but then By Thursday,
- 33:34Speaker 2: that clears up. It should be a nice, dry, sunny weekend.
- 33:38Speaker 2: So it's hard to believe. But it was quite a summer.
- 33:43Speaker 2: Heat waves. Canadian wildfire. Hey, every time you think, why
- 33:47Speaker 2: is Trump being so mean to Canada? Just remember all
- 33:51Speaker 2: that smoke that was here for a couple of weeks.
- 33:54Speaker 2: You remember those days you couldn't go outside and you
- 33:56Speaker 2: couldn't breathe because of that Canadian wildfire smoke?
- 33:58Speaker 4: Good.
- 33:59Speaker 2: This is revenge. Let them put some tariffs on them
- 34:02Speaker 2: for all that smoke. Let them call it Lake of
- 34:04Speaker 2: America where all that smoke. Anyway, we'll get to hour
- 34:07Speaker 2: number three coming up. That's right, three, because we start
- 34:10Speaker 2: at nine o'clock now. It's nine to noon every day,
- 34:13Speaker 2: every weekday, nine to noon. And if you listen to
- 34:15Speaker 2: the podcast, you get an extra hour now. Back after
- 34:18Speaker 2: the news on 710WOR.
