- 0:00Speaker 1: H M. Turn to Glory podcast, ours Arbadiki Austin Roads,
- 0:23Speaker 1: go to free tag.
- 0:25Speaker 2: What a game this weekend?
- 0:28Speaker 3: What the game so fun?
- 0:33Speaker 4: Well, I guess let's dive into it. The brass offense
- 0:35Speaker 4: looked great against by U, Like they shot they shot
- 0:38Speaker 4: the lights out.
- 0:39Speaker 2: M right, what a game? We shot it so well?
- 0:42Speaker 1: Return feat the number eighteen preseason rank or whatever they
- 0:47Speaker 1: are for whatever poll that is.
- 0:49Speaker 2: But what a game?
- 0:51Speaker 5: That's the game you guys want to talk about, right,
- 0:54Speaker 5: That's what I want to talk about.
- 0:56Speaker 2: It's all we're talking about.
- 0:59Speaker 1: Oh where do we start? Ra Asca loses to Minnesota.
- 1:08Speaker 1: I guess I want to ask the question I'm going
- 1:11Speaker 1: to be going back to is.
- 1:12Speaker 2: How and why? How and why did that happen?
- 1:19Speaker 1: It left I think a lot of people speechless, frustrated,
- 1:23Speaker 1: full of emotion, pissed off. Here's one thing that I
- 1:30Speaker 1: anything I like to do is give it twenty four hours,
- 1:35Speaker 1: kind of let everything soak in, don't let raw motion
- 1:39Speaker 1: get to you.
- 1:40Speaker 2: I did that.
- 1:42Speaker 1: I don't know how much things changed for me. I
- 1:47Speaker 1: wouldn't say I probably have not as pissed as some
- 1:50Speaker 1: people are. But the way that game unfolded, there's a
- 1:57Speaker 1: lot of reason to be, and I think the lack
- 2:03Speaker 1: of maybe pissed off that I am is maybe showing
- 2:08Speaker 1: that I don't quite care as much.
- 2:10Speaker 2: I don't know. I don't say I don't care, but
- 2:12Speaker 2: it's like a I'm not.
- 2:15Speaker 3: Are we surprised, No, I mean literally on our Thursday pot,
- 2:20Speaker 3: I said, this is like the I picked us to
- 2:22Speaker 3: win by three, but it was the perfect game to lose.
- 2:26Speaker 3: You know, we ranked twenty five hypes there, We're going
- 2:30Speaker 3: to Minnesota on a short week after flying to the
- 2:33Speaker 3: east coast of Maryland. How we lost is not how
- 2:40Speaker 3: I expected we would have lost.
- 2:41Speaker 2: That's the part I'm pissed off about.
- 2:44Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, that's the losing is not the part. It's
- 2:47Speaker 3: just that we looked like completely different than we've looked
- 2:51Speaker 3: the rest of the year. You know, if we lost
- 2:53Speaker 3: in a shootout or like you know, twenty seven twenty
- 2:55Speaker 3: four that I could have seen coming more so than
- 3:00Speaker 3: two field goals in the first half and a second
- 3:04Speaker 3: half that just absolutely ran away from us.
- 3:08Speaker 4: We I think, looking back on it, at beginning of
- 3:10Speaker 4: the year, this was the game we all had a
- 3:12Speaker 4: bad feeling about against Minnesota. Now I think we have
- 3:15Speaker 4: a worst feeling come out of it just because of
- 3:17Speaker 4: how it went.
- 3:18Speaker 5: Like we did not expect just an ass kicking.
- 3:22Speaker 4: I can't remember where where we had his rings, but
- 3:25Speaker 4: it was pretty high on a game Nebraska was probably
- 3:28Speaker 4: gonna lose.
- 3:31Speaker 2: I agreed. I think.
- 3:34Speaker 1: Going into the year, this was the whether you call
- 3:38Speaker 1: it a trap game or just a game that we didn't
- 3:39Speaker 1: think we'd get, we were gonna win. I think as
- 3:42Speaker 1: we got through the first half of the year, Minnesota
- 3:47Speaker 1: maybe wasn't quite as good and I don't know where
- 3:50Speaker 1: people thought we were at, probably higher than what we
- 3:53Speaker 1: should have been.
- 3:54Speaker 2: But Whya's saying, are we surprised? Like a lot of
- 3:56Speaker 2: the things that Minnesota beat us with.
- 4:00Speaker 1: Excience of a lot of those things throughout the first
- 4:04Speaker 1: half of the year, we just won those games. And
- 4:06Speaker 1: Minnesota is just a lot better at doing some of
- 4:09Speaker 1: those things and.
- 4:12Speaker 2: Just kicked our ass that way.
- 4:15Speaker 1: So I'm not I'm surprised, maybe a little bit, but
- 4:19Speaker 1: I think it's more so a little bit concerned with
- 4:22Speaker 1: how everybody on the team is going to handle this
- 4:28Speaker 1: moving forward and what it kind of implies. And so
- 4:31Speaker 1: I think today what I want to do is kind
- 4:34Speaker 1: of keep the conversation tailored around short term. When I
- 4:38Speaker 1: say short term, like the game itself and not try
- 4:42Speaker 1: to look at anything else outside of the game, and
- 4:45Speaker 1: then open it up to maybe what it means for
- 4:47Speaker 1: the season, and then open it up even big picture
- 4:51Speaker 1: for Nebraska football as a whole and a program. So
- 4:57Speaker 1: that's how I want to organize everything. And if we
- 5:02Speaker 1: go in circles, we go in circles. But the first
- 5:05Speaker 1: thing that I want to start off with is the
- 5:07Speaker 1: game itself. Is it one of the worst losses for
- 5:15Speaker 1: sure in the Matt Rule era, but that we've had
- 5:19Speaker 1: in the last ten years.
- 5:21Speaker 2: And why I say that we've gotten our asstake before.
- 5:24Speaker 1: No, well, we've gotten our asstake before, but not to
- 5:30Speaker 1: the caliber team that Minnesota was. Minnesota is not. They're
- 5:35Speaker 1: not Ohio State. They're not Indiana last year.
- 5:38Speaker 3: They're not.
- 5:40Speaker 1: When Michigan killed us. They're not those ten kind of
- 5:42Speaker 1: team did. They're Minnesota and they pretty much has dominated us,
- 5:48Speaker 1: for sure on the defensive side of the ball, but
- 5:51Speaker 1: for the whole game. And so that's why I mean,
- 5:56Speaker 1: I have it up there. I don't know if I'd
- 5:57Speaker 1: go worse, but I'd have it up there.
- 5:59Speaker 3: What of the games.
- 6:00Speaker 1: What other games can you think of that we've lost
- 6:03Speaker 1: to a team like that the way it happened, where
- 6:05Speaker 1: there just wasn't any signs of I'm gonna say Minnesota
- 6:10Speaker 1: when it was freezing cold probably five years ago.
- 6:12Speaker 2: That's another one.
- 6:15Speaker 5: Would you would you say Ucla last year?
- 6:20Speaker 1: We did some good things against Ucla last year, and
- 6:23Speaker 1: I say Minnesota is very similar to where maybe a
- 6:26Speaker 1: little better.
- 6:26Speaker 5: But yeah, but that that that game I kind of
- 6:31Speaker 5: had the same.
- 6:32Speaker 4: I mean, Nebraska didn't get their ass kicks as bad
- 6:34Speaker 4: in that game.
- 6:35Speaker 2: That's what I'm saying. We got our ass kicks. I'm
- 6:37Speaker 2: not saying the loss. I'm saying how we lost.
- 6:40Speaker 5: Yeah, well I can't. I can't eaven another game that bad.
- 6:47Speaker 1: That's what I'm saying, is like, it's a bad loss
- 6:49Speaker 1: in that in that in that sense, and it'd be
- 6:52Speaker 1: different if we would have lost twenty four to twenty
- 6:54Speaker 1: and kind of we're in the game, I mean, or
- 6:56Speaker 1: even even thirteen to ten. Yeah, because the first half
- 7:01Speaker 1: we were down seven six of the first half, We're like, okay, whatever,
- 7:04Speaker 1: and then the second half it was like oh shit.
- 7:10Speaker 3: I mean I think that was probably the most frustrating thing.
- 7:12Speaker 3: It felt like we went out in the second half
- 7:16Speaker 3: and they were like, Oh, here's what's working. We're just
- 7:18Speaker 3: gonna dial it up even more, and we were like,
- 7:20Speaker 3: here's what's not working. And I understand there there moments
- 7:24Speaker 3: where towards the end of the game is like, Okay,
- 7:26Speaker 3: it's out of reach, we have to try for bigger plays.
- 7:30Speaker 3: But we just kind of stuck with the same formula
- 7:33Speaker 3: for the first half. But it's like, oh, they've gotten
- 7:35Speaker 3: five saxes on the five sacks on this on the
- 7:37Speaker 3: first half. We really haven't tried to It didn't feel
- 7:40Speaker 3: like we tried to change or do anything different.
- 7:44Speaker 1: And I don't know that this is the concerning part
- 7:49Speaker 1: that it covered up. The wins in previous weeks covered
- 7:55Speaker 1: up a lot of the stuff, and we did work
- 8:00Speaker 1: on it was like Minnesota was like, oh, yeah, we're
- 8:02Speaker 1: just gonna feast and they did over and over and
- 8:04Speaker 1: we didn't have any counter to it. Like Michigan State
- 8:09Speaker 1: had one sack or whatever going into the game when
- 8:11Speaker 1: we played them and they had five against us.
- 8:14Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't I mean, yeah, I don't know if
- 8:17Speaker 3: the wins covered up because we all knew that our
- 8:19Speaker 3: offensive line giving up sacks as a problem, and our
- 8:22Speaker 3: run defense.
- 8:23Speaker 1: Was it covered up enough to where we didn't work
- 8:26Speaker 1: on it and didn't have a counter and didn't know
- 8:27Speaker 1: how to adjust to a team that set the house
- 8:33Speaker 1: every play, and we had no answer for it, no
- 8:35Speaker 1: no counter from a play calling standpoint, obviously from a
- 8:39Speaker 1: personnel standpoint, a couple of guys get hurt, we clearly
- 8:42Speaker 1: don't have even including those guys like we clearly don't
- 8:46Speaker 1: have the right talk about offensive line coaching, but the
- 8:51Speaker 1: right coaching and scheme up front to adjust to that stuff.
- 8:54Speaker 1: We didn't, and Minnesota just kept doing it and it
- 8:56Speaker 1: kept working and it resulted in nine sacks.
- 9:02Speaker 2: Yeah, Top, let's go here for you.
- 9:05Speaker 4: Here's the Yeah, I lost my voice. I'm not like
- 9:09Speaker 4: talking a whole lot today. But here's the thing about
- 9:13Speaker 4: Minnesota is PJ. Fleck, which is proven by this point,
- 9:17Speaker 4: he knows how to beat Nebraska. All he got in
- 9:20Speaker 4: every time he plays Nebraska, he tries out physical home.
- 9:23Speaker 4: There's one play in particular that I think proved that
- 9:26Speaker 4: he has no respect for I had no respect for
- 9:30Speaker 4: the brass offenses. Went's fourth and inches on the fifty
- 9:33Speaker 4: yard line. He punks the ball back to him like that.
- 9:37Speaker 4: That's just saying, hey, we don't think you're you're going
- 9:40Speaker 4: to move the ball on us. Our defenses has been
- 9:43Speaker 4: out physical you this whole game and want back to you.
- 9:48Speaker 3: We're not gonna give you any favorites. You guys gotta
- 9:52Speaker 3: win this one.
- 9:55Speaker 2: That's been the formula, and they did it again. Yeah, it.
- 10:01Speaker 1: Flex a good coach. Take all the antics away that
- 10:06Speaker 1: he does. You can laugh at him all you want.
- 10:10Speaker 1: He knows how to beat us, but in general he knows.
- 10:12Speaker 1: But here's what I Here's what I think really frustrates
- 10:14Speaker 1: people a lot is Minnesota and Iowa was I'm not
- 10:19Speaker 1: gonna say as exactly what Nebraska usul to do back
- 10:21Speaker 1: in the day, but they win games by playing physical,
- 10:24Speaker 1: let the other teams beat themselves. Mainly run heavy, focused,
- 10:29Speaker 1: and play good defense. Like that's their formula to win.
- 10:34Speaker 1: And I think if take everything out aside, if you
- 10:38Speaker 1: were a Nebraska fan, that's what a lot of people
- 10:39Speaker 1: are like, Yeah, you're we're itching and.
- 10:41Speaker 2: Want to be that. But then there's a stigmatism of well,
- 10:44Speaker 2: you're never gonna win.
- 10:47Speaker 1: College football playoff gamer, You're never gonna be elite with
- 10:50Speaker 1: that formula.
- 10:50Speaker 5: Well, guess what, you're never.
- 10:52Speaker 1: Gonna get there if you can't beat teams like that,
- 10:56Speaker 1: and we're just we're not.
- 10:57Speaker 2: We're not there. I think we were, we've been were
- 11:00Speaker 2: shadowed by the talent conversation, all these skilled players, and yeah,
- 11:04Speaker 2: that's great to have, that's awesome. But if you're not.
- 11:07Speaker 1: The most physical, punishing team in everything that you do
- 11:13Speaker 1: and have a little bit of brash, just mean, tough
- 11:18Speaker 1: guy mentality, you're not gonna win games like this. Now,
- 11:22Speaker 1: take all that back, We're probably gonna match up well
- 11:25Speaker 1: with a USC team because guess what, USC is kind
- 11:27Speaker 1: of like that. But when it comes down to some
- 11:30Speaker 1: of these teams in the Big Ten, like your, Minnesota's, Iowa's,
- 11:33Speaker 1: Penn State, when we play like we're not we're physically
- 11:37Speaker 1: not built to beat those teams. And we found that
- 11:40Speaker 1: out in a hard, hard way on Friday night.
- 11:43Speaker 5: That's that's the thing is.
- 11:44Speaker 4: Think about the two loss to Nebraska had this year.
- 11:48Speaker 4: In the wins, the wins they've had are teams that
- 11:50Speaker 4: are not do not play physical. The two losses that
- 11:53Speaker 4: they've had Mishkian and Minnesota, they want to play physical.
- 11:57Speaker 4: So like there's a blueprint howd beat Nebraska it and
- 12:02Speaker 4: and coming in the game. Minnesota didn't really run the
- 12:04Speaker 4: ball well this season so far.
- 12:07Speaker 5: You know they did this game. They rained all over them.
- 12:10Speaker 1: And we shouldn't be surprised by that because that's how
- 12:13Speaker 1: what they do and that's what we're bad at.
- 12:19Speaker 3: I'm just trying to wrap my head around because I mean,
- 12:24Speaker 3: in the moment, I was just like, whatever, it's fine.
- 12:32Speaker 3: I just don't know what we do going forward. That's
- 12:34Speaker 3: my That's the thing.
- 12:36Speaker 2: We're still in game season yet, but yes.
- 12:39Speaker 3: Well I don't honestly, we're in game. Yeah, we got
- 12:42Speaker 3: our asses kicked. That's what we keep talking in game.
- 12:45Speaker 3: But what I what else is there talking about?
- 12:47Speaker 2: I got a billion things to talk about it all.
- 12:49Speaker 3: Right, Well, then you get going because all they did
- 12:51Speaker 3: was they rushed us. We could we could not keep
- 12:54Speaker 3: them out of the backfield. Everyone's blaming Dylan Rayl for
- 12:56Speaker 3: on the ball too long. Well, half the time it
- 12:59Speaker 3: was the left tackle that was getting beaten, so you
- 13:01Speaker 3: didn't even know that someone was coming. Sure, as pocket
- 13:04Speaker 3: present need to step up sometimes, but you can't. To
- 13:08Speaker 3: just put it all on Dylan is insane. I don't
- 13:10Speaker 3: think here's.
- 13:12Speaker 1: People are, yeah, yeah, here's here's my other big thing
- 13:16Speaker 1: of the why and what the hell? Why did we
- 13:19Speaker 1: look so uninspired and like like, yeah, we had every
- 13:24Speaker 1: reason to go there as a five and one team
- 13:27Speaker 1: just got ranked and momentums going, Minnesota's had our number.
- 13:33Speaker 2: We knew that, we know that we looked.
- 13:36Speaker 1: We went there and looked like I like, we didn't
- 13:39Speaker 1: care a little bit, Like that's what that's what the
- 13:42Speaker 1: vibe was. And I know people that went to the
- 13:43Speaker 1: game they said the same thing. It just didn't look
- 13:45Speaker 1: like we were fired up to play that game. And
- 13:48Speaker 1: from the get go, Minnesota's crowd and we knew Minnesota's
- 13:50Speaker 1: crowd is what we we know all that. So that's
- 13:53Speaker 1: what I can't figure out is why was this team
- 13:55Speaker 1: so like dole for this moment and the televised it
- 14:01Speaker 1: makes zero sense and probably speaks a lot of volume
- 14:05Speaker 1: to a little bit of the conversations had in the lock. Again,
- 14:10Speaker 1: I'm not I'm not I'm not trying to say imply
- 14:13Speaker 1: that everything's a disaster right now, but how can we
- 14:18Speaker 1: not be fired up and juiced for this game?
- 14:20Speaker 4: So do you think do you think Fleck saw that
- 14:24Speaker 4: it was like okay, because this game kind of went
- 14:27Speaker 4: We're gonna eventually just.
- 14:28Speaker 5: Break these guys, like it's gonna be.
- 14:32Speaker 4: We're gonna keep running ball on them and keep giving
- 14:34Speaker 4: their offense short fields and eventually we're gonna break this team.
- 14:40Speaker 1: Yeah, that's their formula. That's that's how they win. Yeah,
- 14:43Speaker 1: And they probably said this is a team, a perfect
- 14:45Speaker 1: team to just pounce on and do that based on
- 14:48Speaker 1: the situation. That's probably that's probably what they said. And
- 14:51Speaker 1: and it obviously worked. My other thing with the game
- 14:59Speaker 1: and I I I put code reds down. I think
- 15:02Speaker 1: these are code reds now. I'm not putting them burn them,
- 15:05Speaker 1: but I think it's like, look out, Austin. You mentioned
- 15:09Speaker 1: the offensive line that's code red number one, two and
- 15:12Speaker 1: three and four, Like that's we did.
- 15:15Speaker 3: We did lose. I mean, Pritchett was out for the
- 15:22Speaker 3: the targeting call correct, and was Spindler hurt?
- 15:28Speaker 2: Spindler got hurt very early.
- 15:30Speaker 1: And I get it a little bit, there's injuries, but
- 15:33Speaker 1: as far as just Geem and Gunner Gatula, oh boy.
- 15:39Speaker 2: Just Corkoran has to has to come in.
- 15:41Speaker 1: And apparently he played a lot last week too, and
- 15:44Speaker 1: nobody noticed him.
- 15:45Speaker 2: It wasn't bad that not this week.
- 15:49Speaker 3: Corkoran was in the in the game last week in
- 15:51Speaker 3: the last two minutes.
- 15:52Speaker 1: Yeah, and oh again, Minnesota or Michigan State, Maryland. The
- 16:02Speaker 1: type of teams they are, they're not. I mean, we
- 16:06Speaker 1: match up. We're in that tier just so, if you'll
- 16:08Speaker 1: go back to it, we're in that tier, in the
- 16:10Speaker 1: middle tier where them, we're with them, and your Minnesota
- 16:12Speaker 1: and Iowa's are still a step ahead of us because
- 16:14Speaker 1: they have the physicality over us and the toughness and
- 16:18Speaker 1: the trenches. It starts with the offensive line, and it's
- 16:22Speaker 1: a little bit gets shadowed when you win a game.
- 16:26Speaker 1: We knew our offensive line is not great. We've been
- 16:28Speaker 1: seeing it. But when you get your ass kicked like this,
- 16:30Speaker 1: you go, oh boy, like it starts building a foundation
- 16:34Speaker 1: there and I.
- 16:37Speaker 2: Victim of it too. We all are.
- 16:39Speaker 1: We've been very excited and juiced up about all of
- 16:42Speaker 1: these transfers and the skill players we're getting. And until
- 16:47Speaker 1: we start paying offensive linemen money and a lot of
- 16:50Speaker 1: which which we did pay purchase, I guess which would
- 16:53Speaker 1: I guess I don't know.
- 16:54Speaker 3: Spindlert, But until like get an offensive line and it's
- 17:00Speaker 3: worth a shit it's to start and then build around.
- 17:03Speaker 5: It like that.
- 17:04Speaker 1: That that to me is it's so important. And obviously
- 17:09Speaker 1: this game that demonstrates that. The second thing with this
- 17:14Speaker 1: game that if another code read that we know and
- 17:17Speaker 1: we've kind of brushed off a little bit because we won,
- 17:20Speaker 1: Dylan still has zero legs and it's it. Yeah, he
- 17:24Speaker 1: can't he can't move. He maybe is a little more elusive, right.
- 17:27Speaker 1: He had a couple of times which was great that
- 17:29Speaker 1: he was able to escape and improvise, and he had
- 17:33Speaker 1: a couple of neat cool passes that were very i'm
- 17:37Speaker 1: gonna call him athletic but talented to get off like
- 17:40Speaker 1: that's great, But.
- 17:41Speaker 2: He still doesn't have legs. He's still not mobile.
- 17:44Speaker 1: It still results in a lot of sacks. And I'm
- 17:46Speaker 1: with you, Austin, it's a combination of everything. It's not
- 17:52Speaker 1: all on Dylan, but at from a from a scheming perspective,
- 17:56Speaker 1: from a from a hey, this is what we have
- 17:59Speaker 1: right now.
- 18:00Speaker 2: Ro line is not very good.
- 18:03Speaker 1: There's obviously coaching you can do, but there's also a
- 18:05Speaker 1: point of they're just not very good. So therefore you
- 18:09Speaker 1: got to have a guy in the backfield that can
- 18:12Speaker 1: do a little on Dylan's legs.
- 18:13Speaker 2: I'm sorry.
- 18:15Speaker 1: If I was coaching Dylan and you might get him
- 18:18Speaker 1: to trained for I don't know, Dylan. You gotta lose
- 18:20Speaker 1: twenty pounds and you gotta find a way to run.
- 18:23Speaker 1: You have to.
- 18:23Speaker 2: There's no excuse you can't. You cannot be.
- 18:26Speaker 1: The way you are as a pocket first quarterback with
- 18:28Speaker 1: our offensive line. It's not gonna merge. Well, and that
- 18:31Speaker 1: was my big I don't call him epiphany or thought
- 18:35Speaker 1: that I had. You can get away with being a
- 18:37Speaker 1: passing quarterback if you have an average to above average
- 18:41Speaker 1: offensive line. That's why Alabama, Georgia, LSU those teams have
- 18:48Speaker 1: kind of some pass first quarterbacks because.
- 18:52Speaker 2: You can play to that strength. But if you have an.
- 18:54Speaker 1: Average to a below average offensive line or a shitty
- 18:57Speaker 1: offensive line, you can't have a passing quarterback not match.
- 19:00Speaker 1: It doesn't work. It does not work. You have to
- 19:02Speaker 1: have a guy that can move back there. And so, yes,
- 19:04Speaker 1: I'm saying it right now. T J.
- 19:06Speaker 2: Latif needs to play something.
- 19:07Speaker 1: I don't know what in what capacity, but he needs
- 19:10Speaker 1: to be in there at times to add that threat
- 19:14Speaker 1: to an opposing teams defense. I'm not saying it's because
- 19:17Speaker 1: Dylan's bad. It's because Dylan can't move and teams are
- 19:22Speaker 1: not preparing. They don't have to prepare for a quarterback
- 19:26Speaker 1: run game at all because they know he can't do it.
- 19:29Speaker 2: He can't.
- 19:30Speaker 1: So that's my Dylan legs code red because it's not
- 19:35Speaker 1: good with the mesh with the offensive line. Get a
- 19:38Speaker 1: good offensive line. Dylan's a perfect quarterback. I love it,
- 19:43Speaker 1: but with the offensive line mesh, it's not good.
- 19:50Speaker 3: I disagree. I think it's a bad take. Why I
- 19:54Speaker 3: think you could fix that with more short passes. I
- 19:58Speaker 3: mean the fact that Jacry Varney only have one reception
- 20:01Speaker 3: and he's like kind of your slot guy. You have
- 20:03Speaker 3: to get that. You just have to put him in
- 20:05Speaker 3: position to get the ball out. Quicker, I don't know
- 20:07Speaker 3: if he needs.
- 20:08Speaker 2: Why don't we do it?
- 20:10Speaker 3: I don't know why we don't do it. I straight
- 20:12Speaker 3: up don't know. Why don't we run the ball? More
- 20:17Speaker 3: about that?
- 20:18Speaker 2: Why I think we run the ball more?
- 20:20Speaker 1: Because you have an added element of a quarterback run
- 20:22Speaker 1: game and we don't just can't do it, And maybe
- 20:25Speaker 1: they're worried about getting hurt.
- 20:27Speaker 4: I'm I'm totally with you, Hunter. I this is the
- 20:31Speaker 4: first game I've actually thought about, like you seriously thought about,
- 20:35Speaker 4: like it might be time depending on what the offensive
- 20:40Speaker 4: mind keeps looking like time to like put in Latif.
- 20:43Speaker 2: Is not I'm not saying Latif play every freaking down.
- 20:46Speaker 2: I'm not saying that.
- 20:47Speaker 1: I'm saying, have packages kind of like the Heinrich Harbert stuff,
- 20:50Speaker 1: where we have a threat of a of a quarterback
- 20:53Speaker 1: run game, where teams have to prepare for it, and
- 20:56Speaker 1: and it's it's an added element to your offense that
- 20:59Speaker 1: teams now have to go, Okay, we we can't just
- 21:02Speaker 1: pin our ears back and go.
- 21:05Speaker 2: Because of our.
- 21:07Speaker 3: Though they still could, our offensive line isn't good enough
- 21:10Speaker 3: for them to.
- 21:10Speaker 1: Like, no, no, When you have a quarterback run game,
- 21:13Speaker 1: it puts a pause on what teams can do defensively.
- 21:19Speaker 2: It does.
- 21:20Speaker 1: I watch all of these other Division one teams that
- 21:23Speaker 1: have I'm not even gonna call the mobile quarterbacks, guys
- 21:26Speaker 1: that can I was watching Missouri against Auburn. Okay, when
- 21:30Speaker 1: you have Bo Pribble, who's not a running quarterback, he's he's.
- 21:34Speaker 2: Like a I don't know how a.
- 21:37Speaker 1: Comparison like guy guys that can move a little bit.
- 21:39Speaker 1: But Washington kind of yeah, like guys like a little
- 21:44Speaker 1: bit mobile. Like teams cannot do what they do to
- 21:47Speaker 1: Nebraska right now. They do it because Dylan cannot run.
- 21:50Speaker 1: There's we will we have. We ran one QB draw
- 21:53Speaker 1: the whole time. Why why like and maybe we forced
- 21:56Speaker 1: Dylan to run. I don't know, But he's not a
- 21:59Speaker 1: threat of teams offensively. Now can scheme around that. That's
- 22:03Speaker 1: my point. And if you have a threat of a
- 22:07Speaker 1: guy that can run it, then you can. And I agree, Austin,
- 22:10Speaker 1: you can throw start throwing more short passes. I got
- 22:12Speaker 1: f I freaking hope that we start adding some of that.
- 22:15Speaker 1: But it's not we didn't have that counter this game.
- 22:17Speaker 2: We didn't.
- 22:18Speaker 1: We did We weren't able to do anything across the middle.
- 22:20Speaker 1: We didn't throw any We didn't have that. How we
- 22:23Speaker 1: haven't had that. It's not like this is new and
- 22:25Speaker 1: we're just figuring out that our offensive line sucks like
- 22:27Speaker 1: we've had that.
- 22:28Speaker 2: So what are we doing? I don't know, Dana, like
- 22:30Speaker 2: I have no idea.
- 22:32Speaker 5: But we're both not saying that sucks.
- 22:34Speaker 2: Like No, I'm not I'm not saying that at all.
- 22:36Speaker 2: I'm saying he's a good quarterback.
- 22:38Speaker 1: I'm saying it's it's a messure with our offensive line
- 22:40Speaker 1: that's shitty.
- 22:41Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, I disagree. I don't think putting in the
- 22:46Speaker 3: I don't think taking out your better player to put
- 22:48Speaker 3: in a less better player is the approach.
- 22:50Speaker 2: I'm not saying.
- 22:53Speaker 1: He's not better than Dylan and he's a Lespit, but
- 22:55Speaker 1: I'm saying he adds a running element that he is
- 22:59Speaker 1: better than Dylan and I and maybe not maybe he
- 23:03Speaker 1: maybe he can't handle and I don't know, maybe he can't,
- 23:06Speaker 1: but I'm saying it's a threat. Again what we did
- 23:08Speaker 1: with Heinrich Harberg last year a little bit that when
- 23:11Speaker 1: he comes in the game, teams go, oh, he can move,
- 23:16Speaker 1: and now we can't do X, Y and Z. And
- 23:20Speaker 1: I'm not saying it's because the latief's good. I'm just
- 23:22Speaker 1: saying in general, that's a that is a general idea
- 23:27Speaker 1: or take that I have about football in general, nothing
- 23:29Speaker 1: to do with Dylan, nothing with anything that if you
- 23:31Speaker 1: don't have an offensive line, you can't have a pass
- 23:35Speaker 1: firs quarterback. It fails miserably. Look at some of the
- 23:38Speaker 1: NFL teams that try to do that. If your offensive
- 23:40Speaker 1: line sucks and you don't have a guy that can
- 23:41Speaker 1: move back there. That's why Adrienne was able to shadow
- 23:44Speaker 1: some of the stuff because Adrian could catch it and
- 23:46Speaker 1: then go and move right. Yeah, if Adriane was with
- 23:49Speaker 1: this team, we wouldn't have as many sacks. That's a fact.
- 23:53Speaker 1: There's still be some, right, There's still be like quite
- 23:55Speaker 1: a few. But part of the reason why we have
- 23:57Speaker 1: a lot of sacks is that Dylan's still slow and
- 24:00Speaker 1: can't call it that pocket present some people are using
- 24:04Speaker 1: that term. I mean that maybe is probably part of it,
- 24:07Speaker 1: but it's it's being elusive, and Dylan's better at it
- 24:09Speaker 1: than he was last year. He definitely is. He's definitely
- 24:12Speaker 1: better escaping. He did it several times this game because
- 24:16Speaker 1: he had to as well. We could have had fourteen
- 24:18Speaker 1: sacks and said that didn't see a record it could have.
- 24:22Speaker 1: So I'm not saying he's bad at it. I'm just
- 24:23Speaker 1: saying our offensive line is that poor that I would
- 24:29Speaker 1: take a look at finding some way. Either get Dylan
- 24:32Speaker 1: to lose twenty pounds, which you can't do in season,
- 24:35Speaker 1: and make him a little more of a runner, or
- 24:37Speaker 1: make your offensive line and pay it fourteen million dollars
- 24:41Speaker 1: for an offensive line and go poach everybody, you can
- 24:44Speaker 1: like one or the other. I think that mess. I
- 24:47Speaker 1: think that Mesh is not good. I think I just
- 24:49Speaker 1: I think it's hard for Dylan. And you know what,
- 24:51Speaker 1: Dylan probably sees it too, Like Dylan's frustrated as hell
- 24:54Speaker 1: because he has guys in his face constantly every game.
- 24:58Speaker 1: Like that's frustrating quarterback. So it's got to go one
- 25:01Speaker 1: way or the other. We can't just continue on with
- 25:04Speaker 1: a two out of ten offensive line and a nine
- 25:06Speaker 1: or eight or nine out of ten quarterback. It does
- 25:08Speaker 1: not mesh. It doesn't merge for an offense. And we
- 25:10Speaker 1: found that out big time against Minnesota.
- 25:17Speaker 3: I I guess my counter would be we've scored over
- 25:21Speaker 3: thirty points or twenty seven or more points the last
- 25:25Speaker 3: four games.
- 25:25Speaker 5: Yep.
- 25:26Speaker 1: Against again, I'm talking about against teams that are physical
- 25:28Speaker 1: as hell up front and beating teams like Minnesota and Michigan, Iowa,
- 25:33Speaker 1: Penn State, which maybe that's okay. Maybe maybe we are
- 25:36Speaker 1: okay with going eight and four and making a little
- 25:38Speaker 1: step away.
- 25:39Speaker 2: Maybe maybe that's still part of the process.
- 25:41Speaker 1: And you just you say, you know what, we here's
- 25:44Speaker 1: here's where why we lost those four games, and now
- 25:46Speaker 1: we're winning these others, which is a step forward. And
- 25:49Speaker 1: now next year, here's where we got to add to
- 25:53Speaker 1: our team to make.
- 25:54Speaker 2: Us beat minnesot Maybe that's where things are at. I
- 25:57Speaker 2: don't know.
- 26:00Speaker 1: Red flag two or code red for endgame that I
- 26:02Speaker 1: saw tackling like.
- 26:05Speaker 2: It was horrific.
- 26:06Speaker 3: It was terrible.
- 26:07Speaker 2: Yeah, don't understand that either.
- 26:10Speaker 1: And maybe this blends with my next Code red comes
- 26:13Speaker 1: down to just physicality and toughness, Like I don't know,
- 26:17Speaker 1: we don't know what we're doing in practice, and this
- 26:19Speaker 1: is what Minnesota and these teams do that they.
- 26:23Speaker 2: Really put the color on the writing on the wall.
- 26:28Speaker 1: If you don't have it, and I it, it makes
- 26:31Speaker 1: you question what the hell are we doing in practice
- 26:35Speaker 1: from a tackling, physicality toughness standpoint.
- 26:38Speaker 2: I don't know if you've listened to any Minnesota stuff
- 26:41Speaker 2: they said.
- 26:41Speaker 1: They do some like I don't even know, basically like
- 26:44Speaker 1: a gauntlet physicality type of drill every day at practice
- 26:49Speaker 1: for like five to ten minutes.
- 26:50Speaker 2: It's one of their sessions they do every day.
- 26:52Speaker 1: They must have did it for like twenty five to
- 26:54Speaker 1: thirty minutes leading up to this game to basically overemphasize
- 26:58Speaker 1: we're gonna physically be.
- 26:59Speaker 2: The snot out. Yeah, I don't know what we're doing
- 27:02Speaker 2: and probably we're not going to know.
- 27:04Speaker 1: That was a code red of like, oh crap, after
- 27:06Speaker 1: a game like this, we don't do those things, and
- 27:10Speaker 1: when that's what you want to believe in as a program,
- 27:13Speaker 1: that was like, oh shit, the way that again, with
- 27:17Speaker 1: the way that game ended up, if it would have
- 27:18Speaker 1: been twenty four to twenty and we kind of held
- 27:20Speaker 1: our own and loft because it different story, but the
- 27:23Speaker 1: way that we just physically got dominated it was bad,
- 27:30Speaker 1: very bad, very bad.
- 27:33Speaker 3: Third down defense is terrible.
- 27:35Speaker 2: Third down defense yet again, red zone offense again.
- 27:40Speaker 3: I mean, these are all things that we've been bad.
- 27:41Speaker 3: We just won and we all knew that these were
- 27:44Speaker 3: issues and it just didn't work out this week.
- 27:47Speaker 2: And unfortunately, the big plays weren't there this week, no
- 27:51Speaker 2: big plays. And I feel like our wins. I said,
- 27:57Speaker 2: you know, winning close is the best way to win, because.
- 27:59Speaker 1: You were able to work on things that maybe weren't
- 28:02Speaker 1: as good.
- 28:02Speaker 2: You could that you can still see them. But he
- 28:04Speaker 2: came out with the win. I don't think we.
- 28:06Speaker 1: Took those things seriously enough to correct them, and Minnesota
- 28:10Speaker 1: just said, oh, here's what they suck at here's where
- 28:12Speaker 1: their opinions ad on it, and let's just let's let's
- 28:16Speaker 1: let's beat them. Let's beat them by overpowering their weaknesses.
- 28:20Speaker 1: And that's exactly what they did.
- 28:23Speaker 2: In every every part of the game.
- 28:25Speaker 1: Really, I mean the one one positive you got a
- 28:28Speaker 1: positive archie, I mean.
- 28:33Speaker 2: And that and that.
- 28:34Speaker 1: That is also why this game I think this is
- 28:37Speaker 1: the off so much. We didn't turn the ball over.
- 28:41Speaker 1: Our special teams was pretty solid. It was literally we
- 28:45Speaker 1: just got our ask it. Yeah, it wasn't like we
- 28:48Speaker 1: really beat ourselves from a penal penalties. I mean, had
- 28:52Speaker 1: a couple of bad penalties, but like we just got
- 28:56Speaker 1: dominated that That is why it's.
- 29:00Speaker 2: Coche read alarming.
- 29:03Speaker 5: Here's another part that's got to piss you off.
- 29:04Speaker 4: Is when they did pass the ball, it was the
- 29:07Speaker 4: same passes every time underneath throughout every time. They they
- 29:12Speaker 4: never tried to throw the ball deep once like that
- 29:14Speaker 4: I can't remember at all. It was the same un
- 29:15Speaker 4: dumb underneath what mesh out whatever to the wide receiver,
- 29:21Speaker 4: like and they knew that coming in. That's what he
- 29:24Speaker 4: That's what that quarterback does. Like he doesn't throw the
- 29:26Speaker 4: ball deep. That's that's all they do. So it's like,
- 29:29Speaker 4: what what game plan did Nebraska have come into this game?
- 29:35Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 29:36Speaker 1: And seriously stuff that you see Minnesota iowauld do all
- 29:43Speaker 1: the time.
- 29:45Speaker 5: Yeah, it's like did you even watch tape?
- 29:47Speaker 4: Like you knew what they were gonna try to do,
- 29:49Speaker 4: and they did it, like and they ran.
- 29:51Speaker 1: The ball like Minnesota could like that's maybe not what
- 29:55Speaker 1: they've been doing this year so far, but they probably said,
- 29:58Speaker 1: you know what, Nebraska is the team that's weak.
- 30:01Speaker 2: This is this is how this is how we beat them.
- 30:03Speaker 2: This is what we do. This is our roots.
- 30:08Speaker 3: That run defense has been bad all year.
- 30:10Speaker 2: Yeah, and so are we surprised?
- 30:12Speaker 3: No?
- 30:13Speaker 1: And yeah, like from a defensive adjustment standpoint, I didn't
- 30:17Speaker 1: that wasn't good either, Like we know Austome to your
- 30:21Speaker 1: point about getting the ball off quick, even talk about
- 30:24Speaker 1: getting the ball at quick, like Minnesota sat there and
- 30:26Speaker 1: went dunk dunk, dunk, Like I get.
- 30:29Speaker 3: All down the field and are we cond tackled? So
- 30:31Speaker 3: every every dunk pass became like a seven yard eight
- 30:34Speaker 3: ten yard game.
- 30:35Speaker 1: I mean when when I was watching the game with
- 30:38Speaker 1: my mom, when my mom and she goes, why don't
- 30:42Speaker 1: why can't we do that?
- 30:43Speaker 2: Why are they so wide open. Why why don't we
- 30:45Speaker 2: do that?
- 30:46Speaker 1: When when someone like that can watch the game and
- 30:48Speaker 1: go and understand that, and then on the flip side
- 30:51Speaker 1: say why don't we do that on offense, It's like,
- 30:53Speaker 1: oh God, is it really that simple?
- 30:56Speaker 2: I guess I don't know. I don't know what we
- 30:57Speaker 2: have in the playbook either side.
- 31:00Speaker 3: What don't we have in the playbook. It's the biggest
- 31:02Speaker 3: book of the phase of the Earth. It's so complex
- 31:05Speaker 3: and large.
- 31:06Speaker 4: Every every time they would even try to run the
- 31:09Speaker 4: ball to Nebraska would be there for like a one
- 31:12Speaker 4: two yard game and it always turned into like a
- 31:14Speaker 4: five six yard run because they were.
- 31:16Speaker 3: Making contact behind the line or at the line all night.
- 31:20Speaker 5: Yeah, just fall forward for five yard fives. Every time
- 31:24Speaker 5: it was it.
- 31:24Speaker 2: Was like screenplay right there. Nope, six yards every Yeah,
- 31:30Speaker 2: that's all I did.
- 31:31Speaker 5: They They just digging dunk all the way down the field.
- 31:34Speaker 3: It was like, yeah, once once Minneapolis. Once Minnesota had
- 31:40Speaker 3: that that one long drive and started second half, Oh yeah,
- 31:47Speaker 3: you just knew, You're like, okay, you know, I think
- 31:51Speaker 3: we were only down one still at that point.
- 31:55Speaker 1: Yeah, I think that was one to go to yep,
- 31:58Speaker 1: so that dry I have two is what put everybody
- 32:02Speaker 1: into just this is why taking everything outside of Nebraska, Minnesota,
- 32:10Speaker 1: who the teams were, this is why this hurts.
- 32:14Speaker 2: That is exactly like the.
- 32:15Speaker 1: Definition of that just as a as a fan of
- 32:18Speaker 1: football and watching a team just humiliate a team on
- 32:22Speaker 1: a ninety eight seventeen play, just convert third down like
- 32:27Speaker 1: you watch that and you which want to smile as
- 32:28Speaker 1: a fan, like god, that was perfect. Run seven eight
- 32:31Speaker 1: minutes off the clock when you're up in town, like
- 32:33Speaker 1: you just go, dah, that's just it's a masterclass of coaching,
- 32:37Speaker 1: of executing. Take take Nebraska out of it, like you,
- 32:41Speaker 1: that's exactly.
- 32:42Speaker 2: What you want to do. We we don't. We don't.
- 32:45Speaker 1: We don't have that in our team like to do
- 32:47Speaker 1: something like that. We fit from a physicality standpoint, I
- 32:49Speaker 1: don't think we can do that. And that's that's where
- 32:51Speaker 1: it also pisses me off. You it happens to you
- 32:54Speaker 1: and you go, oh my god, that just that just sucks.
- 32:57Speaker 2: Well and we can't do that.
- 32:59Speaker 1: And that's that's what hurts a lot is when that
- 33:02Speaker 1: happens and it was like again credit to PJ. Flake, Minnesota,
- 33:05Speaker 1: all of and they are that's that they know how
- 33:10Speaker 1: to win games like this. Now, are they Ohio State? No,
- 33:14Speaker 1: they got beat whatever thirty four to zero against them
- 33:19Speaker 1: last week, but it just was I don't know, it
- 33:25Speaker 1: was it was. It was pretty to watch from a
- 33:26Speaker 1: football standpoint. It hurts a ton as ahscar fan.
- 33:31Speaker 3: Mm hmm.
- 33:35Speaker 1: That's about all my game stuff. I mean, we've kind
- 33:37Speaker 1: of jumped into it a little bit. But for the
- 33:39Speaker 1: rest of the season, like, where do we go from here?
- 33:41Speaker 3: Like?
- 33:41Speaker 2: What where that was?
- 33:45Speaker 1: Like I said, I I don't know how the team's
- 33:47Speaker 1: taking it, but I think that's one of the more
- 33:49Speaker 1: humiliating losses that we've had, especially with rule here. How
- 33:54Speaker 1: we respond, what the message is like in the locker
- 33:57Speaker 1: room to move forward. We play Northwestern this week on
- 34:02Speaker 1: Saturday eleven am.
- 34:03Speaker 5: Kick or play physical.
- 34:05Speaker 1: Northwestern's coming off a nineteen zero win against Purdue. They're
- 34:10Speaker 1: trying to play more physical. I think they're five and
- 34:12Speaker 1: two now, which is weird. They're kind of were supposed
- 34:14Speaker 1: to be kind of the bottom of the Big Ten,
- 34:15Speaker 1: which they're still down there, but they're also winning some games.
- 34:19Speaker 2: Our record yep, it's like, where do we go from here?
- 34:23Speaker 1: Like, how do we win this week? What's the game plan.
- 34:26Speaker 1: What's the focus with what we have?
- 34:32Speaker 3: I don't know, I honestly don't know. I mean outside
- 34:35Speaker 3: of what our normal game plan is. But that obviously
- 34:38Speaker 3: didn't work against Minnesota.
- 34:39Speaker 1: I mean, what would you guys do this week? How
- 34:41Speaker 1: would you approach the mindset of the players?
- 34:47Speaker 3: That's tough not being in the locker room and not
- 34:49Speaker 3: knowing where they're actor, because they could be fired up
- 34:51Speaker 3: and be like, man, you're right, we really goof that
- 34:56Speaker 3: one up like that one was. We came out flat.
- 34:59Speaker 3: We deserve to get our kick. That's not happening again.
- 35:02Speaker 3: I think that's probably the message you putched, like, hey,
- 35:05Speaker 3: you know we got we got our asses handed to us.
- 35:08Speaker 3: We're not that's not happening again. You know we're gonna
- 35:11Speaker 3: deliver the next punch and just so happens that Northwestern's
- 35:14Speaker 3: gonna be the one who catches it. And that's what
- 35:17Speaker 3: you push. I don't know what they have to push
- 35:19Speaker 3: in there, but.
- 35:23Speaker 4: You you've got to have the most physical week of
- 35:25Speaker 4: practice ever, like like why you you gotta be kissed
- 35:29Speaker 4: off all week about why even come out flat in
- 35:32Speaker 4: this game? And this will show a lot come out
- 35:35Speaker 4: of lots like that. If they come out fly against Northwestern,
- 35:38Speaker 4: then this team's like, basically, that's they're showing what they are.
- 35:42Speaker 5: They fooled onto your basically, like, you gotta.
- 35:44Speaker 4: Come out fired up in this game and it'll show early.
- 35:48Speaker 5: But what I would do is you you just gotta
- 35:51Speaker 5: be physical. And the offensive line, I don't know what
- 35:54Speaker 5: the hell you do.
- 35:55Speaker 3: They're like, oh, we'll be back, which will hold.
- 36:00Speaker 1: Yeah, I that I chew their ass this week, and
- 36:07Speaker 1: we're gonna see how physically and mentally mentally tough, right,
- 36:10Speaker 1: more than physically even you know, you're you talk a
- 36:13Speaker 1: lot about the physical part of practice. Mentally you you
- 36:17Speaker 1: just you that's where you gotta chew everybody's ass for
- 36:20Speaker 1: the way that game happened.
- 36:22Speaker 2: And this week is.
- 36:23Speaker 1: Going to be just a bitch week, and you're gonna
- 36:26Speaker 1: see who the mentally tough people are.
- 36:28Speaker 2: Now, that's what I would do. I'm hoping this staff
- 36:30Speaker 2: does it.
- 36:31Speaker 1: If we don't, You're right, Northwestern is gonna come out
- 36:35Speaker 1: and if we are mentally soft, and that's where I'm
- 36:38Speaker 1: not putting a code red flag on it right now,
- 36:40Speaker 1: but I'm getting I'm getting there yellow. If we're mentally
- 36:44Speaker 1: soft and not not emotionally there if our heads are
- 36:49Speaker 1: not in the right place. And it starts with Dylan Royola.
- 36:52Speaker 1: From a toughness standpoint, I don't know that Dylan's very tough.
- 36:55Speaker 1: I just think he's a little bit city boy likes
- 37:01Speaker 1: this is this is me, I I need I need
- 37:04Speaker 1: this this and like, I think he's a little bit
- 37:06Speaker 1: of a like. I want to see how mentally tough
- 37:08Speaker 1: Dylan is this week. Let's see how he responds to
- 37:12Speaker 1: getting physically beat up. Are we gonna make excuses? Are
- 37:15Speaker 1: we gonna come out and and blame others as a
- 37:19Speaker 1: coaching staff? You know, this is another thing, and it's
- 37:22Speaker 1: a small thing. I don't think I said it last time,
- 37:24Speaker 1: but it kind of drive you nuts a little bit.
- 37:27Speaker 1: And I think I laughed about it last week. But
- 37:29Speaker 1: Dylan has a freaking hand war Morah, Like what uh,
- 37:32Speaker 1: it's little things like that, Like what, what's the reason
- 37:35Speaker 1: behind it? I don't know, And maybe there is, but
- 37:37Speaker 1: it's like it's small things. I just think it's mindsets
- 37:40Speaker 1: a little bit.
- 37:42Speaker 2: I don't know. So we're gonna see.
- 37:43Speaker 1: It starts with Dylan, but it goes to the rest
- 37:45Speaker 1: of the team that this is going to be a
- 37:47Speaker 1: tough week, and if you come and fired up and
- 37:51Speaker 1: react because we're pissed, we got our asses kicked, which
- 37:53Speaker 1: I hope they are. I God, I hope they are.
- 37:56Speaker 1: Then I think we'll be okay against Northwestern. I think
- 37:59Speaker 1: we'll be okay hey, in the next few games here
- 38:02Speaker 1: and put the piece of spot heading into the end
- 38:05Speaker 1: of the season. But if we don't, and we're not
- 38:08Speaker 1: very mentally tough and our culture is not strong, it's
- 38:14Speaker 1: good at what's gonna show.
- 38:18Speaker 2: On Saturday.
- 38:19Speaker 4: I felt like even in the postgame prest conferences, like
- 38:22Speaker 4: they didn't seem the players not it didn't seem that.
- 38:25Speaker 5: Fissed off like as as I thought they should have been.
- 38:28Speaker 1: Like so, I don't know, like I I hope this
- 38:33Speaker 1: is this is This is the fine line. As a coach,
- 38:36Speaker 1: do you do you try to say, oh, brush that
- 38:37Speaker 1: one off, Okay, it happened, let's move on, let's move
- 38:42Speaker 1: on that next game, like let's let's not read too
- 38:45Speaker 1: much into it.
- 38:47Speaker 2: I hope that's not the message.
- 38:50Speaker 1: Oh, if that's the message, we're in the trouble as
- 38:54Speaker 1: a program under rule. I don't believe that's what's happening yet.
- 38:59Speaker 1: But we're gonna I guess we said it before this
- 39:02Speaker 1: Minnesota game and all this Penn State rule noise, these
- 39:06Speaker 1: last six games are gonna be it's gonna be a
- 39:10Speaker 1: it's gonna be a roller coaster of everything.
- 39:13Speaker 3: That Penn State noise can that's going away real quick.
- 39:17Speaker 1: Yeah, and that that's kind of moving in here to
- 39:20Speaker 1: the long term like future. Yeah, that that noise is
- 39:24Speaker 1: going to go away for multiple reasons. Now do I
- 39:27Speaker 1: think Rules out of that job completely? The noise away,
- 39:32Speaker 1: The talk's gonna go away. Hell, he already signed a
- 39:36Speaker 1: freaking contract already, like he could have. We don't know
- 39:40Speaker 1: how it'd be funny if he we end up going
- 39:42Speaker 1: like six and six or seven and five and that
- 39:44Speaker 1: State I was already signed a contract and they announced it.
- 39:46Speaker 2: That would be funny. But yes, that that you're right,
- 39:51Speaker 2: that that's gone on people.
- 39:56Speaker 1: That guy think you asked me. I think it was
- 39:59Speaker 1: you to me if I'd be happy or sad or
- 40:01Speaker 1: like of Rule leaving to Penn State. I've been this
- 40:07Speaker 1: way the whole time. I'm indifferent on it, and I
- 40:10Speaker 1: still am, Like I've never thought.
- 40:12Speaker 2: Rules an elite lya coach.
- 40:13Speaker 1: He's probably an above average program build or he's shown
- 40:17Speaker 1: that be able to do that. I don't know that
- 40:19Speaker 1: he's an elite ly coach. I think he's good for
- 40:21Speaker 1: we're out of the program right now, like yeah, but
- 40:24Speaker 1: if things this season fall off, then I disagree because
- 40:26Speaker 1: now he's not building a program anymore and that's supposed
- 40:28Speaker 1: to be a strength.
- 40:29Speaker 2: So like, I'm I'm in different. I what I hope
- 40:32Speaker 2: it does this season.
- 40:33Speaker 1: I hope we can build off of a loss like
- 40:35Speaker 1: this and learn from it and get tougher and physically
- 40:39Speaker 1: tougher and start to say, Okay, we need a freaking
- 40:41Speaker 1: offensive line and look at that from a step back.
- 40:44Speaker 2: I hope that's where we're going. But yeah, I'm if.
- 40:48Speaker 1: He wants to go, great, go. Some people are now like,
- 40:52Speaker 1: get to get him the hell out of here, go
- 40:53Speaker 1: to Penn State. Like I'm not there.
- 40:56Speaker 3: I'm also not.
- 40:58Speaker 2: I'm also not like we need to keep it if
- 41:00Speaker 2: he goes depends.
- 41:03Speaker 3: Last week we talked about the Penn State like, well,
- 41:05Speaker 3: who's Penn State hiring. That's why Matt rule is so
- 41:07Speaker 3: high on the list, because there aren't a lot of
- 41:09Speaker 3: good coaches out there you'll feel great about hiring. So
- 41:12Speaker 3: Matt Rowley is all said, and we're in the same position. Yeah,
- 41:16Speaker 3: well who we hired, you know, So I don't really
- 41:19Speaker 3: want him to leave just one because I yes, that
- 41:22Speaker 3: was a bad loss, but we're still five and two.
- 41:24Speaker 3: There's still you know, five games left of the year.
- 41:26Speaker 3: The year could still end, you know, nine wins, and
- 41:29Speaker 3: you'd feel pretty freaking good about a night when season And.
- 41:32Speaker 1: If we did that, all of these code red things
- 41:35Speaker 1: that I talked about for the game, if we end
- 41:38Speaker 1: up going nine and three, that means Rule did a
- 41:40Speaker 1: great job of addressing those and building on the toughness piece,
- 41:47Speaker 1: the physicality piece, and and like that. If we went
- 41:50Speaker 1: nine and three, that's what that would mean, right for
- 41:52Speaker 1: the most part, and you would feel good that Nope,
- 41:55Speaker 1: Rule has a locker room.
- 41:58Speaker 2: He believes in the right stuff.
- 42:00Speaker 1: We got exposed against Minnesota, but he believes and knows
- 42:03Speaker 1: he corrected it.
- 42:04Speaker 2: Like that's what that would do.
- 42:05Speaker 1: My fear, and I think a lot of people's fear
- 42:07Speaker 1: and frustration is that we're not that in that the
- 42:11Speaker 1: season is not going to end at nine wins. Maybe
- 42:14Speaker 1: we get to eight, but we end at six and
- 42:16Speaker 1: six or seven and five, then we're having a completely
- 42:18Speaker 1: different conversation on just big picture, long term what's right
- 42:25Speaker 1: with the rule. That's why this last five games are going.
- 42:28Speaker 2: To be incredible, huge intriguing standpoint like who what kind
- 42:32Speaker 2: of program are we?
- 42:33Speaker 3: We all thought, Ques should say, we all thought, we
- 42:35Speaker 3: all had our expect I believe we all put our
- 42:37Speaker 3: percentages at eight and four.
- 42:38Speaker 1: I remember that, correct, Yep, yep, right there, Yep, we're
- 42:44Speaker 1: still on pace for eight and four.
- 42:46Speaker 3: I do think that the teams at the end the
- 42:50Speaker 3: schedule end up shaping out a little harder than we thought,
- 42:52Speaker 3: and I think we were not as good as we thought.
- 42:53Speaker 3: But because I mean U c l A. They're looking
- 42:57Speaker 3: a little scary now, Northwestern, we just talked looking a
- 43:00Speaker 3: little scary. So some of those games that we had
- 43:02Speaker 3: has give me games in our are eating four prediction
- 43:05Speaker 3: definitely not there, You're right. I mean, if we don't
- 43:09Speaker 3: respond next week, if we just come out and just
- 43:11Speaker 3: lay another egg, you know, is it is it a
- 43:14Speaker 3: Penn State issue where all of a sudden it's like
- 43:16Speaker 3: you lost the locker room. Your message, this is supposed
- 43:19Speaker 3: to be the ear your message is getting the land,
- 43:22Speaker 3: and all of your players have been drinking your your
- 43:24Speaker 3: rule aid for the last three years, it's like, oh
- 43:27Speaker 3: this doesn't work that you start to get concerned, this is.
- 43:33Speaker 4: This is around where we had a Jesus you.
- 43:42Speaker 5: So, yeah, I need to put the stakes down.
- 43:45Speaker 2: Yeah awesome. I think you're exactly right on that point.
- 43:49Speaker 1: You're people that I talked to my in my close
- 43:52Speaker 1: friend circle in the Husker Lab the old Bass podcast
- 43:56Speaker 1: that we did outside of one person, like they're ready
- 43:59Speaker 1: to give up and quit on the season and quit
- 44:02Speaker 1: on Husker football and be done because of the way
- 44:04Speaker 1: that game happened. I'm not there yet, because I still
- 44:07Speaker 1: think there's a chance that we can respond and prove
- 44:10Speaker 1: that what we just saw is not actually the product
- 44:15Speaker 1: of the culture and the team repeatedly.
- 44:18Speaker 2: It happened one time and workspos Okay.
- 44:22Speaker 3: I think their brains.
- 44:24Speaker 1: Their brains are now like, oh shit, this is gonna
- 44:27Speaker 1: happen the rest of the year too. And I'm a
- 44:28Speaker 1: little bit like that too, like I'm hesitant to think, Okay,
- 44:31Speaker 1: if this actually is what happened, Shit, we're not beating
- 44:34Speaker 1: we're not winning in these games. We maybe will beat
- 44:38Speaker 1: Northwestern and UCLA, but like we're gonna end Their their
- 44:41Speaker 1: thought is we are gonna go seven and five. Now
- 44:43Speaker 1: we are gonna go six and six because we're not tough.
- 44:46Speaker 1: We suck on the offensive line. Now, good coaches in
- 44:50Speaker 1: the program. If we find a way to hide those
- 44:52Speaker 1: things and strategize around it, we can still build on it.
- 44:57Speaker 1: But I don't people like that that are giving up
- 44:59Speaker 1: just think we can't. It's it's done, and I'm leaning
- 45:03Speaker 1: that way. I'm not there, but but but I think
- 45:07Speaker 1: it could happen. I really do. Based on what we
- 45:10Speaker 1: just saw. It's going We're gonna see how we respond
- 45:13Speaker 1: and what this locker room believes internally about this this
- 45:19Speaker 1: team and and Rules as a head coach, and and
- 45:22Speaker 1: Dana as a o C and John Butler as a DC, Like,
- 45:25Speaker 1: we're gonna see what this team is built of after
- 45:28Speaker 1: this loss, like it it's it's gonna be fascinating to
- 45:31Speaker 1: find out.
- 45:32Speaker 3: I do think people are undervaluating losing Ronco and Pritchet
- 45:36Speaker 3: within the first.
- 45:37Speaker 1: Like maybe Rockoll Pretchett. Yeah he's our best option, don't
- 45:43Speaker 1: get me wrong.
- 45:43Speaker 3: Yeah, he's our best option. In addition to losing another.
- 45:48Speaker 1: And some of that happens. I we haven't talked about this.
- 45:50Speaker 1: This is also another glaring thing that maybe it'll become
- 45:55Speaker 1: a topic of conversation. I don't know, but it's it's true.
- 45:58Speaker 1: It's the elephant in the room. Is Ryola Donovan a
- 46:02Speaker 1: good offensive line coach?
- 46:07Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 46:07Speaker 1: We've had our moments with them where we said that,
- 46:10Speaker 1: but it's not We're not going to talk about firing
- 46:12Speaker 1: in because if you put that in that bucket, you're
- 46:13Speaker 1: talking about Dylan and and.
- 46:16Speaker 2: Now you're saying we don't want Dylan Royola.
- 46:18Speaker 1: So you it's it's an elephant in the room where
- 46:21Speaker 1: it's probably not gonna get talked about, and if it
- 46:22Speaker 1: does get brought up with the media, it's gonna get
- 46:24Speaker 1: shut down right away because you don't want to touch
- 46:26Speaker 1: the Dylan bucket as a coaching staff. And this goes
- 46:29Speaker 1: all the way back to Okay, big picture this season,
- 46:32Speaker 1: but big picture culture, right and where we move forward from.
- 46:35Speaker 2: Here after the season. How do you handle that? How
- 46:40Speaker 2: do you address that? That's that's what rules paid the
- 46:42Speaker 2: big bucks for. Okay, and you're.
- 46:43Speaker 1: Gonna make a stance and you're gonna decide on what
- 46:46Speaker 1: you want to do and how you want to move forward.
- 46:48Speaker 2: And I don't again, I don't know.
- 46:51Speaker 1: Exactly how great a good of a coach Royola is
- 46:54Speaker 1: as an O line coach.
- 46:55Speaker 2: But you're going to ride the ship one way or
- 46:57Speaker 2: the other.
- 46:57Speaker 1: And it's actually funny, it's ironic that the part that
- 47:00Speaker 1: Dylan's gonna be is probably the most frustrated with is
- 47:03Speaker 1: our offensive line and that's his uncle's position.
- 47:06Speaker 2: And how do you handle that?
- 47:07Speaker 1: Like That's that's what's also fascinating with it as as
- 47:11Speaker 1: a program.
- 47:13Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 47:14Speaker 1: I don't know obviously to my point earlier that we
- 47:19Speaker 1: didn't all kind of agree on, but it it's that's
- 47:23Speaker 1: a subject that you have to consider if you're Dylan,
- 47:26Speaker 1: like even staying here, like what do you how do
- 47:29Speaker 1: you do?
- 47:30Speaker 5: What do you do?
- 47:36Speaker 3: I am not out on this yet.
- 47:39Speaker 2: They said, no, I'm not giving up and we will,
- 47:42Speaker 2: we will.
- 47:45Speaker 1: I love you, Jackson, Jackson, I love you, but you
- 47:48Speaker 1: you will not quit following Huster football.
- 47:50Speaker 2: You won't be able to do it.
- 47:51Speaker 1: So say what you want, say what you want about
- 47:54Speaker 1: I'm done. And he called them the Lincoln Salt Dogs.
- 47:56Speaker 1: They're just a team up there.
- 47:58Speaker 2: You won't be able to do it. Good luck. I
- 47:59Speaker 2: wish you the best.
- 48:00Speaker 1: I tried doing it when Case State was good. It
- 48:02Speaker 1: doesn't work, but good luck.
- 48:07Speaker 3: I said. We were down. We were down by one
- 48:09Speaker 3: point end of the first half. Even when we're still
- 48:10Speaker 3: getting around as kicked. We had a really bad half.
- 48:13Speaker 3: It was really bad. You know that'll happen. I still
- 48:18Speaker 3: think I am still optimistic that we can have a
- 48:21Speaker 3: decent year. I I we have to go one win
- 48:25Speaker 3: over the last five wins to go win eight wins,
- 48:27Speaker 3: and that's what we expected.
- 48:28Speaker 5: Us to do.
- 48:28Speaker 2: Can't have a decent year. I'm not optimistic about it.
- 48:31Speaker 2: I'll say that.
- 48:32Speaker 3: Yeah, well, you're rarely optimist.
- 48:35Speaker 2: I've been good this year.
- 48:36Speaker 5: You were, you were the beginning of the year.
- 48:38Speaker 3: Is it because Dane Key is non existent? That's your issue?
- 48:42Speaker 2: Maybe? Might that might be part of it.
- 48:44Speaker 1: Yeah, all these things that I was kind of talking
- 48:47Speaker 1: about of being overshadowed, it overshadowed me too. Like I
- 48:51Speaker 1: got a little bit away from the offensive line toughness
- 48:53Speaker 1: piece too. I thought I thought the shiny new I
- 48:56Speaker 1: think the shiny new fake boobs and and makeup kind of.
- 48:59Speaker 2: Got me a little.
- 49:00Speaker 1: But I was doing a little I was staring a
- 49:01Speaker 1: little too much. Yeah, Like now I'm like, like, I.
- 49:08Speaker 4: I think I was there it's it's this week right
- 49:11Speaker 4: aside if it's still gonna good season, and I if
- 49:13Speaker 4: they started last of guns on just to completely out
- 49:15Speaker 4: fiscals Nebraska, I'm I'm out like it's it's gonna be
- 49:17Speaker 4: a ship show.
- 49:18Speaker 3: A season now. I will say Vegas is not giving
- 49:21Speaker 3: up on Nebraska.
- 49:23Speaker 4: Let's spread on it already eight and a half. Yeah, good,
- 49:28Speaker 4: good God. So right around where you don't want Nebraska,
- 49:31Speaker 4: that's been about the last two or three games.
- 49:34Speaker 3: You're not wrong. Oh I'm not taking Nebraska at those
- 49:37Speaker 3: but I'm just I'm pointing out as far as a
- 49:41Speaker 3: you know, a nationwide perspective, they're not that the books
- 49:47Speaker 3: did not perceive that as a crippling season ending loss.
- 49:51Speaker 3: It's always is more than a touchdown favorite.
- 49:54Speaker 1: Yeah, we'll see these last guys, these last it's gonna
- 49:56Speaker 1: it's gonna be it's just gonna be fun to walk.
- 49:59Speaker 1: I say, fund to watch entertaining to watch is to
- 50:01Speaker 1: see where things take us. It's year three, we said
- 50:05Speaker 1: a lot of coaches, Year three is a defining, proven
- 50:09Speaker 1: year for any coach to see where they're heading with
- 50:12Speaker 1: with a program. And that's where we're at, and that's
- 50:17Speaker 1: where things are. And yeah, this loss was really really bad.
- 50:22Speaker 1: Like I said the beginning, one of in my mind,
- 50:24Speaker 1: one of the worst losses we've had in a long time.
- 50:27Speaker 1: Doesn't mean that the whole season and the whole thing
- 50:30Speaker 1: is done. It's puts a lot of doubt in your mind,
- 50:34Speaker 1: and it puts it it makes it go. I don't know,
- 50:38Speaker 1: but there's still games left and we're going to see
- 50:41Speaker 1: what this how this team responds to it. It's kind
- 50:43Speaker 1: of I mean, Michigan, we got set back, but it's
- 50:45Speaker 1: kind of our real first like kicking the nuts, where
- 50:48Speaker 1: we go, oh boy.
- 50:50Speaker 5: Well, here's here's one good thing. Are good or bad?
- 50:53Speaker 5: I don't know where you put it.
- 50:55Speaker 4: Nebraska already knows what position group they have to work
- 50:57Speaker 4: on the most during the offseason. It's it's offensive line.
- 51:01Speaker 4: Like this whole off season already.
- 51:04Speaker 5: Going into it. I don't know what kind of checks
- 51:06Speaker 5: you need, right whatever, Dac.
- 51:08Speaker 2: I hope, I hope you're right. I hope that's the focus.
- 51:11Speaker 1: But I'm scared that that's that's that's the worry, right,
- 51:15Speaker 1: that's the that's the negative, pessimistic part of me. But
- 51:19Speaker 1: a lot of people is that we're not going to
- 51:21Speaker 1: focus on that because we don't believe in that, and
- 51:23Speaker 1: if we did believe in that, we wouldn't have.
- 51:25Speaker 2: Got to where we're at.
- 51:26Speaker 1: Like, yeah, but the focus wasn't on this. It's been
- 51:30Speaker 1: on it's been on the skill players. It's been on
- 51:31Speaker 1: all because we didn't think we had receivers and like,
- 51:35Speaker 1: it wasn't on the offensive line. The defensive line we
- 51:38Speaker 1: knew could have been a concern after losing Nash and Tie,
- 51:41Speaker 1: like that was definitely out there. But if the focus,
- 51:44Speaker 1: that's the worry is that it's not going to be
- 51:47Speaker 1: you're right, it should be.
- 51:50Speaker 2: Well, we'll see. Like again, that's a big.
- 51:53Speaker 3: Part of the issue. Before we go to basketball basket.
- 51:57Speaker 2: Oh we do, we do, gotta go to basketball.
- 52:00Speaker 3: Good offensive lineman don'thit the portal. Thats just it's hard,
- 52:04Speaker 3: it's yeah. But but but to Rule's.
- 52:07Speaker 1: Point about being the cutting edge leader of everything in
- 52:11Speaker 1: college football that we were back in the day and
- 52:13Speaker 1: need to be, Like, let's be the cutting edge and
- 52:16Speaker 1: an offensive lineman in the portal. Let's let's make headline
- 52:19Speaker 1: news because we're going out and paying offensive lineman a
- 52:23Speaker 1: ship ton of money the ones that are out there.
- 52:25Speaker 1: Let let's be the headline of that, like, let's be
- 52:28Speaker 1: cutting edge that that to me is what we should
- 52:30Speaker 1: do and show that's what we believe in. That's the
- 52:32Speaker 1: core that we need to start with and then build
- 52:35Speaker 1: it out from there. And hopefully Dylan's pushing for that too. God,
- 52:38Speaker 1: you hope so like you hope that he's He's the
- 52:41Speaker 1: one in the locker room saying, you know what, offensive lineman,
- 52:44Speaker 1: I love you guys, and he got to be touching
- 52:46Speaker 1: with thinking you don't wan to piss that him up
- 52:47Speaker 1: for the rest of the year or you'll have like
- 52:49Speaker 1: a lock you'll have like the longest yard, like let him,
- 52:53Speaker 1: let him go and tackle you right, Like.
- 52:56Speaker 2: It's yeah, I like, you hope that's what it goes.
- 52:59Speaker 1: So okay, basketball, I haven't done our preview pod yet, no,
- 53:06Speaker 1: but boy is it gonna be.
- 53:09Speaker 3: You know, are those final four tickets being bought yet?
- 53:11Speaker 1: Boys?
- 53:12Speaker 3: Or we do? We do?
- 53:14Speaker 2: We gotta have we might have a separate preview pod.
- 53:18Speaker 2: Oh yeah, yeah. Because I was always going to overshadow
- 53:21Speaker 2: with all of this stuff.
- 53:26Speaker 4: We we decided to go last second in this game
- 53:28Speaker 4: because because the night before we were thinking, oh crap,
- 53:31Speaker 4: we we forgot by you guys, never want recrutination. Everything
- 53:34Speaker 4: we did not expect going in that game. That's what
- 53:36Speaker 4: it'd be like.
- 53:37Speaker 1: No, I wanted to watch this guy because I did
- 53:39Speaker 1: him like this. I want to watch a future NBA
- 53:41Speaker 1: player because Debon. So, I mean, he's looked like a
- 53:44Speaker 1: future he will. He looked freaking good.
- 53:47Speaker 2: He will be if I if things go, he will
- 53:51Speaker 2: be at for one year and gone.
- 53:54Speaker 3: Yeah, he's probably gonna be number one overall pick maybe
- 53:56Speaker 3: not probably, but top five.
- 53:58Speaker 5: Yeah, he's he's.
- 53:59Speaker 1: The nine six ten with a seven foot wingspan. He's
- 54:02Speaker 1: built like a Yannis like.
- 54:05Speaker 3: He moves really well.
- 54:08Speaker 1: You know what, this guy can't shoot the ball. He
- 54:10Speaker 1: just drives it and then all of a sudden, bang bang.
- 54:12Speaker 1: I'm like, oh shit, he can shoot them too.
- 54:17Speaker 3: So yeah, it's just an exhibition game. So but that means,
- 54:22Speaker 3: you know, there's you're still tweaking lineups and you're testing rotations.
- 54:26Speaker 3: So it's fair to say that this isn't the best
- 54:28Speaker 3: of by U. But also in theory, isn't the best
- 54:31Speaker 3: of Nebraska that they're seeing.
- 54:35Speaker 2: We're still zero and zero.
- 54:37Speaker 3: We're still zero and zero. But we if you did
- 54:39Speaker 3: for those listening did not know, we won by one
- 54:41Speaker 3: point over the number or the number eight YEP team
- 54:45Speaker 3: in the country. I think this is just good for
- 54:49Speaker 3: just the mentality of the team because it's like, we
- 54:52Speaker 3: can be top ten. We know we can be top ten.
- 54:55Speaker 1: It's huge, and a top ten but with a six
- 54:59Speaker 1: seed in the tur tournament last year too, yes, without any.
- 55:04Speaker 3: Like and.
- 55:07Speaker 5: They played most their starters most of the game.
- 55:11Speaker 3: It yeah, it's let me, I'm gonna pull up our
- 55:15Speaker 3: sched Okay, yeah, we haven't done our pot.
- 55:17Speaker 2: Yeah whatever, but we look at it. It's it's a.
- 55:21Speaker 1: Reason that it's it's a confidence building thing for the program, and.
- 55:27Speaker 2: Yeah, it makes you excited for the season for sure.
- 55:29Speaker 1: I thought we'd be by twenty, like I just regardless
- 55:32Speaker 1: of being an exhibition game and who you played.
- 55:34Speaker 2: I thought both teams up until the last like.
- 55:36Speaker 1: Two minutes of the game, uh, we played pretty much
- 55:41Speaker 1: your your best players throughout and then BYU decided.
- 55:45Speaker 2: To sub.
- 55:47Speaker 5: Shout fifty nation right now that.
- 55:52Speaker 2: Fifty one McGregor for b YU.
- 55:56Speaker 1: Just to put it in perspective, if Bray couldn't tell
- 55:58Speaker 1: if you watch or anything, it was is like a
- 56:01Speaker 1: six to one white guy that was like warming up
- 56:03Speaker 1: in the tunnel for like four minutes with like six
- 56:06Speaker 1: minutes to go, and we're like, what is going on
- 56:08Speaker 1: with this dude? He hasn't played, Like what who is
- 56:13Speaker 1: this person? He gets subbed in. We're like, he's gonna
- 56:16Speaker 1: hit a game winner winning shot on us, and they
- 56:18Speaker 1: did kind of creep back.
- 56:19Speaker 2: We missed the front of the one and one.
- 56:21Speaker 1: They hit a shot, they got a chance to go
- 56:24Speaker 1: to win it at the end of the game, down
- 56:26Speaker 1: one with ten seconds left, and he ended up getting
- 56:28Speaker 1: the loose ball after the miss with a.
- 56:30Speaker 2: Pretty good look to win. Yeah, long by like three feet,
- 56:34Speaker 2: but it was funny.
- 56:37Speaker 1: Yeah, their best player didn't play the last two minutes,
- 56:39Speaker 1: but they were down also five or six when they.
- 56:40Speaker 2: Took all of them ounts. So, uh, it's just we shot.
- 56:44Speaker 2: We shot it well, like this was that was supposed
- 56:46Speaker 2: to be here. That as a time shot it over
- 56:48Speaker 2: fifty conversations, sixteen or thirty four, I think is what
- 56:53Speaker 2: we finished.
- 56:54Speaker 3: We assisted twenty four on our thirty two shots, thirty
- 56:57Speaker 3: made shots. I don't remember the exact numbers. So I
- 57:00Speaker 3: mean the ball was moving well. JaMarcus Lawrence like, well, yeah,
- 57:05Speaker 3: it looked good. As a distributor and our shooters actually
- 57:09Speaker 3: and Ranked Mass, I mean I haven't. We haven't. Ye
- 57:14Speaker 3: see that you feel like if you had him last year,
- 57:17Speaker 3: it's like you feel it's oh man, we knew he
- 57:21Speaker 3: was good and we talked about it a lot last
- 57:23Speaker 3: year how he was the missing piece. But he comes
- 57:26Speaker 3: out and he goes seven for seven for three. It's like, oh.
- 57:28Speaker 4: Boy, that's not I might be going with a too
- 57:33Speaker 4: crazy Rank Mass. I think he's going to be one
- 57:35Speaker 4: of the best players in the Big ten this season. Like,
- 57:38Speaker 4: I think he's that good right now now. I did
- 57:40Speaker 4: not know he's in the seventh season, so he should
- 57:42Speaker 4: be that good, I.
- 57:42Speaker 3: Say, Ranked Mass as I say so, yeah I did.
- 57:46Speaker 3: I did not know.
- 57:47Speaker 5: I did not know he's our age.
- 57:48Speaker 4: But he should be this good by now, Like he's
- 57:52Speaker 4: basically should be his third year in the NBA.
- 57:53Speaker 5: But the way he's getting.
- 57:58Speaker 4: Be able to stretch the floor so much more than
- 58:01Speaker 4: last year, Well, the middle of the lane was just
- 58:03Speaker 4: clocked so much. He's gonna be able to stretch that
- 58:05Speaker 4: out and move so people will have driving lanes more
- 58:07Speaker 4: this year.
- 58:10Speaker 1: Yeah, I think Byu is surprised by that. But think
- 58:14Speaker 1: about what Rank probably has done this is injury, Like.
- 58:17Speaker 2: All I can do is shot if I just have a.
- 58:19Speaker 1: Bunch, And every every time he let it go, it
- 58:22Speaker 1: was like case again, like nope, that's it.
- 58:24Speaker 3: Yeah, and he didn't I mean, he did not shoot
- 58:28Speaker 3: that well two years ago. It was like a you know,
- 58:32Speaker 3: thirty three shooter.
- 58:35Speaker 2: I don't know that the lover go seven for eight
- 58:36Speaker 2: again in the game this year.
- 58:38Speaker 5: But he just needs people to respect him shooting three.
- 58:41Speaker 3: Yeah, we don't need him to go seven freight. If
- 58:44Speaker 3: he goes free, that's freaking great.
- 58:46Speaker 2: Yeah, really good win. That was It was fun.
- 58:50Speaker 1: It was It was a fun exhibition game. I think
- 58:52Speaker 1: we have one more exhibition game and then season starts.
- 58:55Speaker 1: We'll do a preview pot here over the next week
- 58:57Speaker 1: or so to get all of our thought.
- 59:00Speaker 2: It helps to see the players a little bit onces.
- 59:02Speaker 1: To which is another reason why I wanted to go,
- 59:04Speaker 1: just to see who some of the new faces are.
- 59:07Speaker 5: And they're gonna play a lot of players.
- 59:09Speaker 1: We're gonna play a lot I do. I do Spaine
- 59:11Speaker 1: Hoiberg has done that and it's good but bad.
- 59:15Speaker 2: They have a lot of players play. It means you know,
- 59:17Speaker 2: you have some depth.
- 59:18Speaker 1: At the same time that means you probably don't have
- 59:19Speaker 1: any like stud studs. That's good and bad there, so yeah, oh.
- 59:25Speaker 3: Gosh, and we we start the yeah, we're going to
- 59:27Speaker 3: talk preview pod. But our first nine games are all
- 59:31Speaker 3: home games and the hardest game is number twenty three,
- 59:34Speaker 3: creating Other than that, we played Oklahoma and New Mexico
- 59:37Speaker 3: and then a bunch of oh yeah, technically in yeah,
- 59:43Speaker 3: oh yeah, in case.
- 59:44Speaker 1: Yeah, you're right, Oklahoma is up in sat Suit Falls,
- 59:46Speaker 1: so they're not road games, but they're neutral.
- 59:48Speaker 3: Yes, yeah, you feel good rolling in into the season
- 59:54Speaker 3: with that.
- 59:57Speaker 2: All right, we'll be back there morning.
- 1:00:01Speaker 3: You'll be gread TVR.
- 1:00:03Speaker 5: It'll be great.
- 1:01:03Speaker 3: Beca
