- 0:01We're live now.
- 0:01Hey, all right.
- 0:02We don't have an open,
- 0:04but StreamYard is having
- 0:06some difficulties today.
- 0:08So we're just going to go with it.
- 0:09No open today.
- 0:10We're cold open.
- 0:11How y'all are?
- 0:14It's Cajun Wednesday.
- 0:16I'm with the legend, Corey Leonard.
- 0:18What is going on, everybody?
- 0:20It's just another Wednesday, Scott.
- 0:22Just another Wednesday.
- 0:24Just another Wednesday.
- 0:25I'll say that.
- 0:26My, uh...
- 0:28My son's last ever band concerts tonight.
- 0:30And so my wife is all up in her feelings,
- 0:34has been for quite some time.
- 0:36He's in the, like whatever the highest,
- 0:39like they've got three
- 0:40different levels of band at the school.
- 0:42And he's a senior,
- 0:43he's been there forever.
- 0:44He's in the highest level.
- 0:45So he didn't actually even
- 0:46play until about probably six,
- 0:49thirty-seven o'clock.
- 0:50And she's planning on
- 0:50getting there at five so
- 0:52she can sit in the front.
- 0:54I don't get off work till five.
- 0:58See you there.
- 0:59Yeah.
- 1:00I told her, I said, all right, she said,
- 1:02getting Jameson and we're
- 1:03going to do this and then
- 1:04we're going to get, uh,
- 1:06get some food and I'm
- 1:07getting there for like five
- 1:08thirty at the latest.
- 1:09And I was like, okay,
- 1:11it's going to be all right, babe.
- 1:15So yeah, my Corey did all the band things.
- 1:19So he's got that.
- 1:20And then we got his
- 1:21girlfriend's graduation party Sunday.
- 1:24His graduation,
- 1:25they're both graduating next Friday.
- 1:28It's just all the things in
- 1:30the next two weeks.
- 1:33Sweet baby.
- 1:33Trying to keep her sane as
- 1:35much as possible.
- 1:38Yeah.
- 1:39My daughter did the marching
- 1:40band and they do this thing
- 1:41called Friday Night Live
- 1:43where they take all the
- 1:44songs they did on the field
- 1:46and they do it in the auditorium.
- 1:48Yeah.
- 1:49And they do it for like four shows.
- 1:52My wife had to go to all four.
- 1:55Senior year.
- 1:56Now, junior, sophomore,
- 1:57we went for one show.
- 1:59Senior year, we went all four.
- 2:02Yeah,
- 2:02when he was playing with two of the
- 2:06three bands,
- 2:07we would stay for whichever
- 2:08ones he was playing with,
- 2:08and then we'd deuce out as
- 2:10soon as it was done.
- 2:12And then this year, like what I'm saying,
- 2:17I mean, they're good.
- 2:17Don't get me wrong.
- 2:18They are awesome.
- 2:20But we have seen a whole lot
- 2:21of band performance.
- 2:24many as we can make because
- 2:26we have absolutely no idea
- 2:29what's going on jay birch
- 2:32um we gotta throw a dart oh
- 2:36yeah but because of ken
- 2:37walters because of ken
- 2:39walters questioning me we
- 2:42have dart cam there it is
- 2:45love it and we are going to
- 2:48throw the dart let's see where it lands
- 2:52Oh, bad.
- 2:54Bad.
- 2:54I don't even know if you can see that.
- 2:58I'm going to remove Corey for one second.
- 3:01I'll blow this up.
- 3:03I'll remove myself.
- 3:08I don't know if you can see it.
- 3:10It's bad.
- 3:11It's upper, upper right.
- 3:13I'll have to fix the camera
- 3:15so that we can blow that up
- 3:16a little bit more next time.
- 3:19You hit the board.
- 3:22I did hit the board, but weak throw, man,
- 3:24weak throw.
- 3:25Really disappointed.
- 3:27I was getting closer and
- 3:27closer to that bullseye,
- 3:29and now I put the cam up,
- 3:31and I totally – pressure got to me.
- 3:34Never fair.
- 3:35I was trying to make the games.
- 3:37Never fair.
- 3:38Yeah, absolutely.
- 3:39Pressure was on.
- 3:41Under the bright lights.
- 3:44Bam.
- 3:45Terrible.
- 3:45Can't handle it, man.
- 3:47KLA all day.
- 3:47Yeah.
- 3:49KLA-man.
- 3:50Yep.
- 3:52Open scores are invalid.
- 3:53I'm going to stop picking on that dude,
- 3:55man.
- 3:58All right, man.
- 3:59So that's out of the way.
- 4:01I've been talking a lot about this,
- 4:04how everybody's going after WFP,
- 4:06saying that they're not going to compete,
- 4:07but then they are competing
- 4:09against CrossFit.
- 4:11But nobody's going after Metfix,
- 4:13who says they're not
- 4:14competing against CrossFit.
- 4:16It's a natural fit for both of them.
- 4:18Yet, they're competing against CrossFit.
- 4:23And I'm cool with them competing.
- 4:25I just wish they'd say we're competing.
- 4:30So I think the difference is,
- 4:31is that at no point did
- 4:34they say that they weren't.
- 4:36That is a lot.
- 4:38Well, I understand that.
- 4:40But I know all they said was
- 4:41that we're going to be complimentary.
- 4:44They never expressly said, oh, no, no, no,
- 4:46no.
- 4:47We're not competing.
- 4:50I'm seeing Aaron Kaplan on
- 4:52the Chris Cooper podcast
- 4:58said they weren't competing.
- 5:05I missed that.
- 5:06Aaron says Greg spoke to it this morning.
- 5:08Yeah, I didn't get to hear all.
- 5:10I every Wednesday I have a ten a.m.
- 5:12meeting,
- 5:13which is when someone goes live
- 5:15with Greg.
- 5:15So I always miss it live.
- 5:18I have to go back and watch it after.
- 5:20I had it on but I was I
- 5:21wasn't really paying a
- 5:22whole lot of attention this
- 5:23morning um I was in and out
- 5:26of that work stuff going on
- 5:27so I didn't uh but jeff I I
- 5:31truly I truly don't care
- 5:34about the competition I
- 5:35actually think competition
- 5:36is good oh I'd agree totally
- 5:39I and I want to point
- 5:40something out because I've
- 5:41I've pulled up the broken
- 5:42science website and the
- 5:44metfix stuff and and you
- 5:47know they do a daily
- 5:49workout of the day just
- 5:51like crossfit right but
- 5:53it's more than that and
- 5:54it's and it's actually
- 5:55better and I want to
- 5:57illustrate that where
- 6:00competition can be a good
- 6:02thing so this is their
- 6:05workout of the day section
- 6:08They actually call it the daily fix.
- 6:11All right.
- 6:12Every day it comes with a
- 6:14recipe under belly.
- 6:16And here is a recipe and you
- 6:18can go down and there's the preparation,
- 6:20the ingredients,
- 6:21everything to make this
- 6:23recipe for the day.
- 6:27That's awesome, right?
- 6:29Yeah.
- 6:30Then you click on body and
- 6:32there is your twelve minute AMRAP.
- 6:36Complete as many rounds as possible,
- 6:37five strict muscle-ups,
- 6:39twenty walking lunges.
- 6:40Then practice slips for
- 6:42twenty-five minutes.
- 6:48Planks and stretching.
- 6:51Slips is scales, L-sits, inversions,
- 6:55handstands.
- 6:56Planks and stretching.
- 6:59And then you go to brain,
- 7:00and this is reading for you to do
- 7:05about health and science.
- 7:12How freaking cool is that?
- 7:15Oh, that is outstanding.
- 7:17I would say yeah,
- 7:19I mean that you're offering
- 7:20at that point.
- 7:24alternative stuff,
- 7:25then CrossFit is daily because I mean,
- 7:27I still get emails daily
- 7:28can CrossFit with all kinds
- 7:29of stuff about that.
- 7:30But
- 7:32Okay.
- 7:32I ain't mad at that at all.
- 7:33Like good stuff.
- 7:34All of this is offered on
- 7:35the CrossFit website.
- 7:37So feed your body neatly as this.
- 7:41Yeah.
- 7:42Feed your, feed your body, move your body,
- 7:44feed your brain.
- 7:46Right.
- 7:48And, and you can go back,
- 7:50like I'll hit belly here,
- 7:52go back to yesterday.
- 7:53There's yesterday's recipe.
- 7:58Yes, indeed.
- 8:00And there's yesterday's workout of the day,
- 8:01which was rest and the
- 8:03yesterday's reading.
- 8:05And you can keep going back
- 8:06just like the old workout
- 8:08of the day on CrossFit.
- 8:10There's cancer watchers, diabetes watchers,
- 8:12stroke watchers, body seven rounds a time,
- 8:15seven or ten push jerks, ten pull-ups,
- 8:18belly, Cajun chicken skewers,
- 8:21just right up your alley.
- 8:23The only problem I have with
- 8:24this is Cajun is Wednesday, not Monday.
- 8:27Yeah.
- 8:30We do Cajun Wednesdays, not Monday.
- 8:32Here we do, for sure.
- 8:33Yeah.
- 8:33Yeah.
- 8:34Yeah, I'm with you on that one.
- 8:41So Greg said just before his
- 8:43NDA was up that if anyone
- 8:44wanted to create something
- 8:45with him to take on the games he would,
- 8:47this could possibly be the
- 8:49beginnings of that.
- 8:55I think this is competing
- 8:57against CrossFit.
- 8:59I don't think he has any, and they said it,
- 9:01Jay Burch,
- 9:02he has no desire to compete
- 9:04against the games.
- 9:04The games were never Greg's bag of tricks.
- 9:09That was Dave's creation
- 9:10that he let Dave go and
- 9:12used it as evidence and
- 9:13proof of his concept.
- 9:17Then when it got so big,
- 9:18that was never Greg's thing.
- 9:21Well, no,
- 9:22it's that whole look around at
- 9:24what it has become as
- 9:25opposed to what it started
- 9:26as when it was literally a
- 9:27backyard barbecue.
- 9:28People were drinking beers
- 9:29in between events and stuff like that.
- 9:31And then it just snowballed
- 9:33into this thing, which, hey, I'm a fan of,
- 9:37but I'm also a fan of the
- 9:40beginning part of that,
- 9:41what leads to that.
- 9:43Like when I started at Virtus,
- 9:45it's because I wanted to
- 9:46see what was happening and
- 9:47wanted to get into shape.
- 9:49And then once I found out
- 9:49you could compete,
- 9:51Well, cool,
- 9:52because now I can do all this
- 9:53other stuff.
- 9:53But when I first I was still
- 9:55playing soccer two nights a
- 9:56week and I was a heck of a
- 9:58lot better than when I
- 9:59first started because I
- 10:01could go faster and I was
- 10:02stronger than everybody
- 10:03that was out there.
- 10:04You know,
- 10:06anything that we did outside of the gym,
- 10:09like and still am,
- 10:11I'm up for whatever because I can.
- 10:15Like you want to say it's a
- 10:16five K this week.
- 10:18You want to come running with me?
- 10:19Sure.
- 10:19Why not?
- 10:22just wanted to show that as
- 10:24I've been saying
- 10:25competition breeds growth
- 10:28we have before wfp ever
- 10:30existed before metfix went
- 10:33public um we have been
- 10:36dogging crossfit because
- 10:38they're dropping the ball
- 10:40in different aspects right
- 10:43there was no competition
- 10:44for them there was nothing
- 10:45pushing them to be better yeah
- 10:49Yesterday we illustrated
- 10:50their two new partnerships,
- 10:53partnering with Mayhem to
- 10:54do the Everyday Heroes
- 10:56occupational games as one thing,
- 10:59partnering with Ruck Race
- 11:00USA to do their final event
- 11:02at the CrossFit Games.
- 11:05That's going to be something to see.
- 11:08Those are good strategic
- 11:10partnerships that CrossFit
- 11:11never would have done in the past.
- 11:14They would have let Google
- 11:15get in the way and they would have said,
- 11:17hey, we can do it better.
- 11:18We'll do our own version.
- 11:21Definitely not since
- 11:23sometime around twenty, twenty, twenty,
- 11:25twenty one.
- 11:27I would even argue before
- 11:28that it wasn't all peaches
- 11:31and cream before the sale.
- 11:32No, you're right.
- 11:39I complacency, I think is a,
- 11:41is the word I would, I would use, right?
- 11:43Like you said,
- 11:44when you're on top and
- 11:45there's nothing else around,
- 11:46there's nothing else that's better.
- 11:49Everybody's talking about it.
- 11:50You got three hundred and four, you know,
- 11:51almost four thousand people
- 11:52signing up for the open every year.
- 11:54Then it's easy to just kind of let it,
- 11:58just let it be, let it go.
- 12:00See what happens.
- 12:01Instead of growing up,
- 12:02the media team happened on Greg's watch.
- 12:06And if you didn't like what
- 12:07it was focusing on,
- 12:09he could have redirected
- 12:10them into more the affiliate story.
- 12:14I definitely think he
- 12:15overcorrected on that part,
- 12:17like getting rid of the entire ones.
- 12:19And then let's bring out the
- 12:20couch and the water jugs.
- 12:22Like that was a, I get the idea behind it,
- 12:27but man, like it's a, we went from on the,
- 12:32in the lane to off the road
- 12:34to overcorrect it.
- 12:35And now we're facing the other direction.
- 12:36Yeah.
- 12:41This whole MedFit fixed WFP
- 12:44competition thing came to
- 12:45my mind because I, over the weekend,
- 12:49I know other people were
- 12:50diving into this.
- 12:50Now,
- 12:51I didn't know that at the time that it
- 12:53came into my head.
- 12:54All I heard was the Sivan clip about, hey,
- 12:58CrossFit sent out these
- 12:59letters about competition.
- 13:02You work for us.
- 13:04They're a competitor.
- 13:06You have a no compete.
- 13:09Right.
- 13:10And then all that kind of
- 13:11stirred all this in my brain.
- 13:12And since then,
- 13:13Jenny from dense updates
- 13:14has put some stuff out.
- 13:16So Vaughn's gone deeper into this.
- 13:18Um, and I'm,
- 13:21I'm anxious to hear what Greg
- 13:22had to say this morning.
- 13:23I'll probably listen to that
- 13:24this afternoon.
- 13:25I want to catch that part of it.
- 13:26And, um, right before we went on, uh,
- 13:32someone was talking about
- 13:33or had with parts of the froning podcast,
- 13:36uh,
- 13:37Where, like Will Morad and them,
- 13:39Will Morad and,
- 13:41is it Saxon that's working with him?
- 13:43Yeah, I watched that this morning.
- 13:44Yeah,
- 13:45I didn't get a chance to get into that,
- 13:46but I really wanted to see
- 13:47what all that was going on
- 13:49because they decided they
- 13:51went over there to go visit
- 13:51and hang out and talk to him about it,
- 13:53but wouldn't do it on camera.
- 13:55And I thought that was kind
- 13:56of interesting.
- 13:56And I actually have some notes from that.
- 14:01So that's a perfect segue.
- 14:02Okay.
- 14:03This is what I do.
- 14:07And so that is what Rich said.
- 14:10They invited them out.
- 14:11They had a good talk.
- 14:13They wanted to do a podcast
- 14:14so that people would know
- 14:15what the WFP is all about.
- 14:17And there seemed to be a
- 14:18fear that they would be bullied on air,
- 14:21so they decided not to do that.
- 14:26And I am quoting Rich.
- 14:28Yeah, no, I understand.
- 14:30I just think that's kind of silly.
- 14:32if you were the leader of an
- 14:33organization and you were
- 14:35afraid to be bullied on air
- 14:37you need to get a new
- 14:38leader correct um and then
- 14:46I I just I that is a very a
- 14:50highly watched podcast that
- 14:52by going on there the
- 14:53publicity you could have gotten
- 14:56And convinced Rich on air
- 14:59that what you're doing is good.
- 15:01And it does seem like Rich
- 15:02believes for what they're
- 15:04doing for the athletes and
- 15:05the sports side is a good thing.
- 15:08Now,
- 15:09Rich is not a believer on what they're
- 15:11doing on the affiliate side.
- 15:13Well, and why would you be when they said,
- 15:15give us money and then tell
- 15:16us what you want and we'll
- 15:17see if we can do it.
- 15:20And there was a little bit
- 15:20of back and forth that like
- 15:22CrossFit would not
- 15:23communicate with the WFP.
- 15:24Yeah.
- 15:27but I'm not sure there were
- 15:28attempts made to
- 15:29communicate from the WFP first.
- 15:31And that never got cleared
- 15:33up in this back and forth.
- 15:36Right.
- 15:38Because then they kind of like,
- 15:39they were talking about it,
- 15:41and then they dove into
- 15:42what they think a solution
- 15:43may be for the CrossFit game season.
- 15:47And so you lost kind of like
- 15:50what this meeting with WFP was all about.
- 15:53But I think when you say to them,
- 15:55I'm afraid to come on air,
- 15:57they're not willing to then
- 15:58now promote what you're
- 15:59doing or try to explain
- 16:00what you explained to them
- 16:02when you don't have the
- 16:05cojones to go on yourself
- 16:07and talk about it.
- 16:07Yeah.
- 16:08If you're not going to come
- 16:09on and talk about it,
- 16:10I am certainly not going to
- 16:11tell people what you said
- 16:12about it because then it's
- 16:13coming from my mouth and not yours.
- 16:15Right.
- 16:16And it'd be so easy for them to say, well,
- 16:17that's not exactly what we meant.
- 16:19Well,
- 16:19we don't know what you meant because
- 16:20you didn't actually come on
- 16:22and go live with us or, you know,
- 16:23be recorded, whatever,
- 16:25where it could be put out
- 16:26there and you could say it
- 16:27in your own words.
- 16:28So I'm not going to tell people.
- 16:30I'm going to tell people we
- 16:31had a conversation and I
- 16:32understand it a little bit better,
- 16:33but I'm not getting into
- 16:34specifics because it's not what you,
- 16:38you're not having a chance.
- 16:39It'd be like, if you were,
- 16:40it's guilty until proven
- 16:42innocent type situation
- 16:44where you just say whatever.
- 16:48No, dude, why not go on with them?
- 16:51That blows my mind completely.
- 16:55I also think that it was
- 16:58said by Vandersloot that
- 17:01they're afraid to make mistakes.
- 17:05Bro.
- 17:05You can't be afraid to make mistakes.
- 17:09No.
- 17:09Now we're at a point where
- 17:10your first event is a week
- 17:11and a half away,
- 17:13and we don't know anything about it.
- 17:17And it's like they're
- 17:19banking on the names
- 17:21drawing in the people alone
- 17:22without understanding the
- 17:24concept of what it is.
- 17:26I would love to know what
- 17:27their ticket sales look
- 17:28like because when they first announced it,
- 17:30it was going to be a thing.
- 17:31Having five thousand spectators,
- 17:34which is insane, by the way,
- 17:38especially with you got this going on.
- 17:40You got.
- 17:43Yes, yes.
- 17:44Pull up Lito's comment, please.
- 17:50It feels like they're just
- 17:51trying to be liked by everybody.
- 17:52Yeah.
- 17:53I think that's exactly what
- 17:54Scott VanderSloot said that
- 17:57they're trying to,
- 17:58they're trying not to piss
- 17:59anybody off and you cannot
- 18:03it to be a leader of, of an organization.
- 18:07You cannot have those fears.
- 18:09No,
- 18:10you can't walk on eggshells around
- 18:12every single person and
- 18:13expect to succeed.
- 18:14That's not going to work.
- 18:16Because no matter what you say,
- 18:18you are going to piss somebody off.
- 18:20Yeah.
- 18:22At some point,
- 18:24and you have to be okay with that.
- 18:25You have to be able to say, oh,
- 18:27you don't like that?
- 18:27Okay, that's cool.
- 18:30And keep moving forward.
- 18:31Because if you keep doing that and just,
- 18:33well, I'm not sure.
- 18:36You're setting yourself up for failure.
- 18:40Well,
- 18:40and that debate can be good if you
- 18:45explain why you're doing
- 18:48what you're doing to the
- 18:50negative reaction.
- 18:52Yeah.
- 18:53Why it's going this way.
- 18:54Why you made that choice.
- 18:57And be firm.
- 18:59Be resolute.
- 18:59Hey, yeah,
- 19:00I understand that that's what happened.
- 19:01This is why.
- 19:04And it's okay to let people go, well,
- 19:06I'm like that.
- 19:07Okay, well, you don't have to.
- 19:10Aaron says, as an athlete,
- 19:12he should know you cannot
- 19:13compete and be afraid of making mistakes.
- 19:16And then he says,
- 19:17Rich on the Born Primitive podcast said,
- 19:19if fifty percent love you
- 19:20and fifty percent hate you,
- 19:21you're probably doing something right.
- 19:24Yeah, you're attracting the right people.
- 19:26And the fifty percent that
- 19:27don't like you don't matter.
- 19:31Concepts are great.
- 19:33Ideas are awesome.
- 19:34But you have to implement
- 19:35them and you have to
- 19:40I was hopeful that they
- 19:41could push the boundaries
- 19:43of what the sport looked
- 19:44like so that overall, in the end,
- 19:47we could learn something
- 19:48from it and either CrossFit
- 19:51learn from what they see
- 19:53and make changes or
- 19:55CrossFit doesn't and they
- 19:57die off and you have this other option.
- 20:01But I have no confidence now
- 20:03after hearing that.
- 20:03No.
- 20:04How are you going to...
- 20:09CrossFit is notorious for saying,
- 20:11as far as the methodology is concerned,
- 20:14like if we see something that works,
- 20:16we'll start doing it.
- 20:18So same thing for the games
- 20:20and whatever else.
- 20:21We evolved from having a
- 20:21softball throw to the stuff
- 20:23that we do now at the game.
- 20:25So why wouldn't you see if
- 20:26somebody is doing, like you said, oh,
- 20:28this is working.
- 20:30Cool.
- 20:31Let's do that.
- 20:33Seems like they're there.
- 20:38Seems like there are a shell.
- 20:39Dang it.
- 20:40Take a deep breath, Kyle.
- 20:46Why don't you take this while I go?
- 20:47Seems like they are a shell
- 20:49of an organization.
- 20:50Looks good on the outside,
- 20:51but not much on the inside.
- 20:55Oh, it's just me.
- 20:57How's it going?
- 20:59Yes, they are.
- 21:00We got you, David.
- 21:01Um, I would,
- 21:02one hundred percent agree with that,
- 21:03David.
- 21:03Um,
- 21:03it reminds me a little bit of when
- 21:06Noble first started and
- 21:07nobody knew what it actually was.
- 21:09Like we have an idea, we have concepts,
- 21:11we have thoughts that we're
- 21:12going to just put out there
- 21:14for everybody.
- 21:14And then we'll kind of see
- 21:15what happens after that.
- 21:18That seems like an insane concept to me.
- 21:21It's worked for Noble,
- 21:22at least for a while.
- 21:23I don't know anybody that
- 21:24actually wears their shoes anymore.
- 21:27Uh,
- 21:28or any of their apparel for that matter.
- 21:30they got all the way up to
- 21:31sponsoring the games at one
- 21:32point and then kind of died
- 21:34off so my apologies the
- 21:40dart cam started echoing
- 21:42everything so I had to shut
- 21:43it off not a problem um you
- 21:46have to believe in what
- 21:46you're doing if you're
- 21:47scared to actually say what
- 21:48you were doing maybe you
- 21:50should be doing something
- 21:51else a hundred percent that
- 21:54is a confidence thing right
- 21:55there right and
- 21:59I think that's what Rich was
- 22:00trying to get at.
- 22:02If you want to compete against CrossFit,
- 22:04just say it.
- 22:07Yeah.
- 22:07Just say it.
- 22:09Do it.
- 22:09You'll get more respect just saying, yeah,
- 22:12I'm competing with CrossFit.
- 22:14We think we can do it better.
- 22:16This is our plan.
- 22:18The dude,
- 22:18I don't know what his actual title is,
- 22:22with High Rocks, he was like,
- 22:24we're trying to find a
- 22:24fitness athlete on Earth.
- 22:27He said that live on camera
- 22:29for everybody to hear.
- 22:31Is it true?
- 22:32Maybe in his mind it is,
- 22:34but he was bold enough to
- 22:35actually go ahead and say
- 22:36it and try to be a direct
- 22:39competitor as far as that
- 22:41title is concerned.
- 22:43Us as CrossFit athletes don't believe it,
- 22:45but kudos for him for
- 22:47actually saying it
- 22:48somewhere where people could hear.
- 22:51Alito,
- 22:51definitely not scared of making
- 22:53mistakes when that you
- 22:55program running in the semis.
- 22:59We got video of Brandon
- 23:01running behind the email
- 23:03company team with a camera.
- 23:07It's hilarious.
- 23:09You see them four run across
- 23:11and then there's Brandon
- 23:12running behind them with the camera.
- 23:13It's going to make sure that
- 23:15somebody asks for the video.
- 23:16We got a good video.
- 23:18That was a topic on Rich's
- 23:20podcast as well.
- 23:21They did ask for the maps and the video.
- 23:26But they're like, what does that prove?
- 23:28You have a video of a guy
- 23:29with a wheel going out to
- 23:31eight or four hundred
- 23:32meters and then turning
- 23:33around and four hundred meters back.
- 23:36And you have a GPS map.
- 23:37Yeah.
- 23:37What?
- 23:40But it doesn't prove that
- 23:41they actually they still doesn't ask.
- 23:44Yeah.
- 23:45And I think that's why, like,
- 23:47for the EMOM team anyway, that's why,
- 23:49like, Brandon went out.
- 23:50Tell you, camera on a stick.
- 23:52When he took off for the run,
- 23:53he was running right there with him.
- 23:57So at least... Mayhem filmed
- 23:59their whole run, too, just in case.
- 24:01Oh, I'm sure they did.
- 24:02I'm sure they did.
- 24:03I think anybody who could probably did,
- 24:06and I think that's probably a smart idea.
- 24:08And if you look at the top-twenty,
- 24:10they're all, like, teams that...
- 24:13been around there's nothing
- 24:15um out of whack in who
- 24:18qualified for the games no
- 24:20that wasn't like bob's
- 24:21crossfit team out of you
- 24:22know yeah with four
- 24:26athletes you've never heard
- 24:27of before correct four
- 24:28athletes you've heard of
- 24:29never heard of before from
- 24:30uh out from uh uh an
- 24:31affiliate you don't
- 24:33nobody's ever heard of like
- 24:34there's none of that uh in
- 24:35in the top twenty so
- 24:38Kudos,
- 24:39kudos to boss for putting credit or
- 24:41putting faith in,
- 24:42in people to do the right thing.
- 24:43And extra kudos for
- 24:45everybody who actually did
- 24:46the right thing.
- 24:47Good.
- 24:48Good on that.
- 24:49Vander Sloot said he actually,
- 24:51he sorted it by the run
- 24:52event to see if he saw any
- 24:54names that were out of, yeah.
- 24:58And even just in the run event alone.
- 25:01Right.
- 25:02No, that makes sense.
- 25:03Why wouldn't you do it that way?
- 25:04Like that's, yeah, that was a smart thing.
- 25:05If I was trying to find out
- 25:07who was cheating,
- 25:08that's what I would have done too.
- 25:10That's the easiest thing to do.
- 25:12It's like going back and look from,
- 25:14in our age group,
- 25:15from the guys who did
- 25:18amazing in the open and did
- 25:20not sign up for semifinals.
- 25:21Like, oh, and have no videos.
- 25:24Oh, okay.
- 25:25Yeah.
- 25:25I got you.
- 25:26Not a big deal.
- 25:28So I wanted to finish up
- 25:29with you and get your ideas on this.
- 25:30We talked about the
- 25:31competition with Metfix and
- 25:34CrossFit and WFP and CrossFit.
- 25:38Then I watched Sousa's show yesterday.
- 25:40The TMZ show.
- 25:43So he's talking about how
- 25:46kind of the guy that
- 25:47everybody thought was going
- 25:48to buy CrossFit did put a
- 25:49bid in on CrossFit.
- 25:52And then they've held out.
- 25:56They brought in this
- 25:58another third party to help
- 26:00with the sale um and
- 26:03they're holding the bid
- 26:04open trying to get a bigger
- 26:06bid and that is evidence
- 26:09that they are trying to
- 26:10make as much money as they
- 26:11can on this sale right
- 26:15There is a chance that someone comes in,
- 26:17buys it for a higher price
- 26:20than the person we thought
- 26:21of who won't have the
- 26:23idealistic view of what
- 26:25CrossFit is or can be.
- 26:26Right.
- 26:27And we don't have control.
- 26:29We as people in the
- 26:31community have no control
- 26:32over who's going to buy this thing.
- 26:36If...
- 26:38If someone comes in and buys
- 26:39CrossFit who is another
- 26:41private equity company or
- 26:43something like that,
- 26:45do you think there will be
- 26:47a mass exodus to these alternatives?
- 26:51Now that they're sitting
- 26:52there and that they will be
- 26:53established when the sale is done?
- 26:59Now, if the right person buys it,
- 27:00all this is moot.
- 27:01But if the wrong person buys
- 27:03it... I wouldn't be shocked.
- 27:08How about that?
- 27:10I wouldn't be shocked.
- 27:12I mean, we've had staff meetings where
- 27:16our head coach slash owner
- 27:18as like when they jacked up
- 27:20everybody's affiliate fees
- 27:22like is it worth us still
- 27:23being an affiliate and for
- 27:25the time being it is
- 27:27absolutely um just for the
- 27:29brand name as far as like
- 27:30as far as that goes
- 27:31everybody you know whether
- 27:32you do it or not most
- 27:34people know what crossfit
- 27:35or have heard of it I mean
- 27:36I say know what it is but
- 27:37definitely have heard of it
- 27:38recognize the name
- 27:41whatever the case may be.
- 27:42But as soon as that starts
- 27:43losing enough brand value
- 27:44where people will start going, Oh,
- 27:46those people, then yeah.
- 27:49Why wouldn't you start
- 27:49looking at doing something
- 27:50else or unbranding
- 27:53completely and just being, Hey,
- 27:54we are a fitness gym.
- 27:57We will make you better.
- 27:58Not necessarily having a
- 28:00affiliation one way or another.
- 28:03Well,
- 28:04I look at this Metfix website and I'm
- 28:07like,
- 28:10I know Greg's going to fight lawsuits.
- 28:15His work,
- 28:15his daily fix is pretty freaking awesome.
- 28:21That's the first time I saw that.
- 28:22I need to go look at it.
- 28:22That's fantastic.
- 28:24This is more than the
- 28:25CrossFit daily workout gets me.
- 28:27Right.
- 28:28This gives me a workout, a recipe,
- 28:30and a reading assignment for the day.
- 28:35If I'm a gym owner and it's
- 28:37five hundred bucks to do
- 28:38Metfix as an affiliate, sign me up.
- 28:42Yeah.
- 28:43Hey,
- 28:43we're still going to be doing
- 28:45constantly varied
- 28:48functional movements
- 28:48executed at high intensity,
- 28:50except now we're going to
- 28:52have a little bit more
- 28:52access to stuff that maybe
- 28:54is going to be more
- 28:56meaningful in the long run.
- 28:58Like you said,
- 28:59Greg's already proved that
- 29:00he will take on whoever
- 29:02if they're putting out false
- 29:03information that is hurting
- 29:05or helping to kill people.
- 29:10Yeah.
- 29:10And Jenny even pointed out
- 29:11like this non-compete thing
- 29:14is done with Greg now.
- 29:15Cause like you go to their
- 29:16daily workout and if you go back through,
- 29:18there are named workouts,
- 29:21CrossFit workouts in, in their daily fix.
- 29:24Um,
- 29:28David Johnson says,
- 29:28I think the wrong person
- 29:29would have to buy it and
- 29:30then continue doing a bad job.
- 29:32If they show that they are
- 29:33capable immediately, then probably not.
- 29:36The affiliation doesn't happen overnight.
- 29:39I learned that
- 29:39de-affiliation is very hard.
- 29:41Most people just let their
- 29:43affiliation expire.
- 29:48So depending on when you signed up,
- 29:52you may have a month,
- 29:53you may have eleven months
- 29:55to make that decision.
- 30:00I think what David's saying
- 30:02is makes a lot of sense.
- 30:03Like,
- 30:03like it doesn't happen overnight and
- 30:05you're going to have to
- 30:06prove to me that you're the wrong person.
- 30:08You also have to prove that
- 30:09you're the right person.
- 30:10Like you can, it's easy to come in.
- 30:11It's like after an election,
- 30:12it's easy to come in and say,
- 30:14promise all these great things.
- 30:16But like,
- 30:17if you don't show me stuff in the
- 30:18first hundred days, six months,
- 30:21whatever the case may be, then,
- 30:23then we're going to start
- 30:24having a problem.
- 30:24Yeah.
- 30:27Yeah.
- 30:29But I think it is really
- 30:31interesting that you could actually say,
- 30:34hey, we're going to be a Metfix gym.
- 30:38If you want to compete,
- 30:39you go to WFP or you stay in CrossFit.
- 30:43And we don't care about the
- 30:44competition side.
- 30:47I mean, for somebody like me, who is very,
- 30:54very interested in making
- 30:55the CrossFit Games...
- 30:58And Jamie will say the same thing, like,
- 31:00because she already goes to the gym,
- 31:02that's not affiliated, right?
- 31:03It is.
- 31:04She's got to jump through
- 31:05all kinds of hoops to be
- 31:06able to try to get to the
- 31:07stage where she can prove
- 31:08herself as being one of the
- 31:09fittest people on earth.
- 31:11So if we did the affiliate,
- 31:14it's going to be a problem for me,
- 31:16not for everybody else there.
- 31:18You know,
- 31:19for the couple of us that are
- 31:20actually actively trying to
- 31:23get to the CrossFit Games.
- 31:25Then it becomes a problem.
- 31:27Everybody else there, I say everybody else,
- 31:29nine percent of people there,
- 31:30they just want to get fit.
- 31:32They want to come in, get their sweat on.
- 31:34They don't give a shit
- 31:34what's written on the
- 31:35outside at this point.
- 31:37Now, potentially getting in new people.
- 31:41If we can't,
- 31:42if we're not CrossFit Virtus
- 31:44anymore and we are MedFix
- 31:46Virtus or whatever,
- 31:48whatever the case may be,
- 31:49and nobody knows what that is right now.
- 31:52then that could be a future
- 31:54issue as far as that kind
- 31:56of stuff is concerned.
- 32:00That's where my head goes.
- 32:02I am the vast minority.
- 32:04It does not really matter to
- 32:06everybody else because it's just me.
- 32:10Aaron Fraser,
- 32:10I thought all affiliates paid
- 32:12a monthly fee now.
- 32:13And actually,
- 32:14David answers that you can do either.
- 32:16You have the choice to
- 32:17either make the one lump sum payment,
- 32:19but then they added the
- 32:20monthly payment as an
- 32:23option when they increased fees.
- 32:29Jay Burch says you just call
- 32:30yourself Virtus Fit.
- 32:32Then you can be a Hyrox gym, a Metfix gym.
- 32:35You've never met my owner.
- 32:36We're not going to be a Hyrox anything.
- 32:42We're not going to be I can
- 32:43promise you that much.
- 32:47Yeah.
- 32:49Polaris has changed her name
- 32:50so many times that one back
- 32:52wall with the logo has been
- 32:54painted about seven times
- 32:56since I've been a member there.
- 32:59We got one sign outside.
- 33:03One,
- 33:03we just replaced it last year sometime
- 33:07because the other one was
- 33:08getting so beat up,
- 33:08it was starting to be hard to read.
- 33:10But other than that,
- 33:12If you miss the sign and nobody's outside,
- 33:14the bay doors ain't open,
- 33:15you can drive right past it
- 33:16and never know where you're at.
- 33:19It's one big long building.
- 33:21Our half is a gym, other half is a church.
- 33:25You get your Jesus and your
- 33:26fitness all in all on the
- 33:27same day if you really need to.
- 33:28There you go.
- 33:31Most times in the middle of a MetCon,
- 33:32I'm talking to him,
- 33:33so might as well have a church.
- 33:35Lord, yeah.
- 33:36Lord, yeah.
- 33:37Yeah,
- 33:37I saw Brandon had a program for us
- 33:38yesterday.
- 33:39I was definitely...
- 33:41on speaking terms with Jesus
- 33:42at one point towards the end there.
- 33:46Yeah, it was funny.
- 33:47CrossFit players has always been CFP.
- 33:50They just changed what the
- 33:51initials meant at times.
- 33:54And then it went to IBEX,
- 33:56which was the Aramo
- 33:59O'Connell programming.
- 34:00Right.
- 34:02And then when they sold the, they,
- 34:05when they sold, uh,
- 34:06the new owners immediately
- 34:07took it back to CrossFit players.
- 34:10And changed the logo design.
- 34:14But it's still CFP.
- 34:15Everything has been CFP like
- 34:17the whole time.
- 34:19Except for the IBEX year.
- 34:22Except for the one short
- 34:24time we were IBEX for whatever reason.
- 34:26I mean, that's smart.
- 34:29If you don't have to change
- 34:31your name or you don't have
- 34:32to change the initials and
- 34:33just like for printing
- 34:35t-shirts and selling
- 34:37merchandise and whatnot,
- 34:38CFP all day long.
- 34:42Aaron asked, why did Christie sell?
- 34:45To be honest with you,
- 34:46I do not know factually why,
- 34:48but I can make a really
- 34:50good assumption that they
- 34:52did not want to be tied to
- 34:53the gym anymore.
- 34:55They wanted to be able to travel,
- 34:56and I think they're trying
- 34:57to start a family.
- 34:58Good for them.
- 35:00And so because of that,
- 35:03they just didn't want to.
- 35:05And their family has owned the gym.
- 35:07Christie only owned it for
- 35:08the last five years.
- 35:12Maybe her parents actually
- 35:15owned the gym like all the
- 35:17years previous.
- 35:19And her mother was a
- 35:20CrossFit Games athlete.
- 35:23Maybe even before Christy was.
- 35:29Or around the same time.
- 35:31But yeah, Donna,
- 35:32Donna Aramo was a Masters
- 35:34athlete at the Games.
- 35:37How old is she?
- 35:38Donna.
- 35:41I kind of think,
- 35:44was she at a MFC the year I went?
- 35:47She's still competing?
- 35:49She has not competed in a few years.
- 35:50She, that's not her favorite thing to do.
- 35:53In fact, if you work out with her,
- 35:55she always like downplays
- 35:56how good she is.
- 35:57And then she kicks your ass.
- 35:59Every, yeah.
- 36:00Every high level athlete I know does that.
- 36:02Yeah.
- 36:03Well, I mean, I hate snatches.
- 36:05I'm not very good at them.
- 36:07And then she's done.
- 36:08She's done.
- 36:08She's done.
- 36:09She's done.
- 36:09She's done.
- 36:13then oh oh that was bad
- 36:15really was it because I'm
- 36:16still going really I don't
- 36:18know if you had noticed
- 36:19that or not the stuff that
- 36:20killed me is we we had this
- 36:23it was they did a challenge
- 36:25where it was a five k a day
- 36:28and so christy would run to
- 36:29the gym she would do the
- 36:32workout and then run home
- 36:34and it it had to be a five
- 36:35k each way and she would
- 36:39come in after running a five k
- 36:42barely warm up, do the workout,
- 36:45be done in a quarter of the
- 36:46time that you're taking,
- 36:48and then put in her earbuds
- 36:50and then run home.
- 36:50Those people annoy me.
- 36:57Good naturedly.
- 36:59Her husband was a seven-time
- 37:01regional athlete.
- 37:05She crushes him,
- 37:06but there's so many levels, right?
- 37:09Because he's killing
- 37:10everybody else in the gym.
- 37:11Yeah.
- 37:11Yeah.
- 37:14But, yeah.
- 37:16There's one hundred percent
- 37:17levels to this.
- 37:18It is bananas crazy.
- 37:21It's funny.
- 37:21When I first joined my original gym,
- 37:24Shred CrossFit,
- 37:25still in existence here in Columbus,
- 37:29we all thought we had a
- 37:30shot at the games.
- 37:31Oh, yeah.
- 37:32And I went to CrossFit
- 37:33Polaris and I realized I
- 37:35have no shot in hell of
- 37:37ever making anything.
- 37:39Dude,
- 37:39my first ever Masters competition
- 37:43when I did the Masters
- 37:45division at Raging Games
- 37:46and Lafayette is going to
- 37:49be my second ever actual
- 37:50individual competition, right?
- 37:52And I remember going through
- 37:53these warm-ups and thinking,
- 37:55I'm pretty well.
- 37:57I'm one of the
- 37:59one of the better movers, even though I,
- 38:01you know, just started, like I was,
- 38:03I was at the, you know, I get that,
- 38:05that beginner's bias or whatever.
- 38:07Like you started just making
- 38:08these huge jumps because
- 38:10you didn't do anything before.
- 38:11So it didn't click the fact that, well,
- 38:12yeah,
- 38:13you went from doing nothing to doing
- 38:14something.
- 38:14So of course it's going to
- 38:15be a lot of job.
- 38:17I got to,
- 38:19I got to raising games and like
- 38:21one of the,
- 38:22one of the workouts that was a
- 38:23two-parter and the second part was a max,
- 38:25a max weight thruster.
- 38:27And I had like,
- 38:29I thought I was doing
- 38:30pretty good with my little,
- 38:31two hundred and thirty five
- 38:32pound thruster.
- 38:33And I could hear the
- 38:34announcer two lanes over,
- 38:36and this is our first attempt left,
- 38:38right?
- 38:38Get done.
- 38:39I got two minutes to rest
- 38:40and then four minutes or
- 38:42whatever it was to find a one rep max.
- 38:44And I was going to open at
- 38:45two fifteen and like,
- 38:47see if I could get that two
- 38:48thirty five again.
- 38:49And somebody two lanes over
- 38:51hit two sixty five to open.
- 38:53And I was like, oh,
- 38:55okay maybe I'm not actually
- 38:58nearly as strong as I think
- 39:00I am and just watching
- 39:02people just pass me by like
- 39:04on the metcon part of it
- 39:05it's humbling it's humbling
- 39:07uh we I went to a comp
- 39:09locally here it's um fall
- 39:13jam they have it every year
- 39:15um on the east side of town
- 39:18and the second year I went
- 39:20the first year I went I won
- 39:21a couple events right
- 39:24in the Masters Division.
- 39:26Second year I go,
- 39:29Andy Katzenmoyer shows up.
- 39:31And he is a former Ohio
- 39:33State and New England Patriot linebacker.
- 39:37The one workout was a snatch complex.
- 39:40So it was a snatch, hang snatch,
- 39:43overhead squat.
- 39:46They're like two minutes into the workout,
- 39:48and the announcer,
- 39:49you hear the announcer go,
- 39:50Katsa Moyer is out of weight.
- 39:58Somebody bring that man some
- 39:59fives or some tens or something.
- 40:01He's got everything loaded up on the bar.
- 40:02I was like, what?
- 40:03Yeah, I'm sorry.
- 40:07What did you just say?
- 40:08Because it sounded like you
- 40:09said he's out of weight,
- 40:10and there's no way that's possible.
- 40:15Oh yeah.
- 40:16That's good stuff, dude.
- 40:17I love stuff like that.
- 40:18We had a, uh,
- 40:19a dude who was borderline
- 40:22probably regionals, uh,
- 40:24athlete in most of the stuff.
- 40:26Like he couldn't run for
- 40:27anything or whatnot, but we.
- 40:29Calm down here called water girl.
- 40:31And, uh, they were going to be doing.
- 40:35Oh, a bear, one rep max,
- 40:36but a bear complex.
- 40:37So like, you know, all of the things.
- 40:40And Kevin's standing up
- 40:41there and he's probably six, two,
- 40:44one taller guy, bright red hair.
- 40:46And asking about, you know,
- 40:49guys going through the athlete briefing,
- 40:51talking about how much
- 40:51weight everybody's going to have.
- 40:53And he said,
- 40:54does anybody need any more weight?
- 40:56We had a bunch of us from
- 40:57our gym that was there.
- 40:58And we all turned around and
- 40:59looked at Kevin.
- 41:00And old boy said, what about you,
- 41:02Red Rocket?
- 41:02You need more than this, three sixty five?
- 41:04He's like.
- 41:06Maybe I watched him do the
- 41:09equivalent of a back thruster.
- 41:13At three hundred and thirty five pounds,
- 41:16just.
- 41:20What a girl, Jeff.
- 41:25W-O-D-I.
- 41:25Wadigraw.
- 41:27Wadigraw.
- 41:28So, like, think Mardi Gras, but Wadigraw.
- 41:33Don't have it anymore.
- 41:33The last time they had it,
- 41:34it was a complete shit show,
- 41:35and they did it in the rain.
- 41:37Not a good idea.
- 41:39So, just to finish up the Katzmoor thing,
- 41:42the shittiest movement I've
- 41:44ever seen in my life.
- 41:46Everything was power.
- 41:48He had no mobility.
- 41:50and the overhead squat was good.
- 41:52The question every time.
- 41:55And,
- 41:56and then he would slowly go down and
- 41:58wait for the judge to say
- 41:59he hit depth and then he would come up.
- 42:03But it was, it was the trying to get that,
- 42:08that mobility.
- 42:12We're talking like four hundred.
- 42:16Jesus Christ.
- 42:18It was just stupid.
- 42:22He used all the weight.
- 42:22That's all I know.
- 42:24Whatever they had on there,
- 42:25we got it all on the bar.
- 42:28That is it, Jay Birch.
- 42:29Watergraw.
- 42:30That is it.
- 42:31That is it.
- 42:34Well, cool.
- 42:36Well, that was a lot.
- 42:38And my lunch hour is just about over.
- 42:42So time for you knuckleheads
- 42:43to get back to work.
- 42:46We'll see everybody next time.
- 42:48Own!
- 42:49Lunch with the Clydesdale.
- 42:51Thanks, Corey.
