- 0:01Exodus chapter 3 let us pray our Father who is in heaven.
- 0:07We thank you God for another day to come and worship you in
- 0:11spirit and truth. We thank you God, for giving us
- 0:13life and life abundant. We thank you Lord for family.
- 0:17We thank you, Lord for food and we thank you for clean drinking
- 0:21water. We thank you for the bread of
- 0:23life. We thank you for the living
- 0:25water. We thank you for manna and
- 0:27quail. We thank you, God, that you have
- 0:29given us a reason to live. Help us not to slip back down
- 0:34into despair. Help us not to slip back down
- 0:38into carnal, earthy ways of thinking.
- 0:41God, I pray that we'll come up to where you are.
- 0:44Father, let us see the sea of glass mingled with fire, Your
- 0:50hair like wool, your eyes like fire, the voice of the many
- 0:53multitudes, the peals of Thunder.
- 0:56God, we want to see you, Lord High, and lift it up with the
- 1:00rainbow, Father. All around you, Lord, with the
- 1:03four living creatures, Lord, crying out holy, holy, holy,
- 1:08covering their eyes with their wings.
- 1:10Because you are so holy, Father, we stand in your holy presence.
- 1:16We are awfully inspired by you, God.
- 1:21We only want more of you. We want to see you rightly.
- 1:24Lord, we thank you for such a time as this.
- 1:27We thank you, God, that you've beckoned.
- 1:30Dusting called us into the fold. Beckoned.
- 1:33Dusting called us into being yours, Lord, we believe in the
- 1:38adoption. We cry out.
- 1:40ABBA, Father. Maranatha.
- 1:42Lord. Come.
- 1:43Lord. We see the leaves on the fig
- 1:45tree. We fill our lamps today.
- 1:47We trim our Wicks today. We keep our love hot today,
- 1:51Father, Help us not to grow cold.
- 1:54Lord, help us not to lose faith. Help us to stand upon the water
- 1:58and not sink. God, we love you, Father, we
- 2:01love everything about you. Teach us your eternal paths in
- 2:04your ways. And it's in King Jesus's holy
- 2:07and precious and powerful name that I pray.
- 2:10Amen. Well, let's start in verse one.
- 2:17Now Moses kept the flock of Jethro, his father-in-law, the
- 2:21priest of Midian, and he led the flock to the backside of the
- 2:24desert and came to the mountain of God, even to Horem.
- 2:28So you need to know this is Mount Sinai and he's going to
- 2:31lead Moses back here to give him the 10 commandments.
- 2:35And here we're going to get to see the burning Bush.
- 2:38The great I am that I am statement that is made that
- 2:42Jesus says many times over in the New Testament.
- 2:46This is a point in the scriptures, friends.
- 2:50You need to know that God reveals himself here to Moses,
- 2:55and Moses was brought up in the palace and here Moses was a
- 2:59shepherd and he went out for 40 years tending his father in
- 3:03law's flocks, didn't even have a flock of his own.
- 3:06And here God is going to reveal himself to him in a mighty way.
- 3:11And he had to do some education, some training out there.
- 3:14He had to get him to a place where he could see this vision
- 3:18and then not only see it, but react to it.
- 3:20Let's see how it goes. Verse 2.
- 3:23Angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of
- 3:27the midst of a Bush, and he looked, and behold, the Bush
- 3:34burned with fire, but the Bush was not consumed.
- 3:38So here you can see that this Bush was on fire, but it did not
- 3:42wither, it did not fail, it did not dissolve, it did not
- 3:46dissintegrate. It was a perpetual fire.
- 3:49And this speaks of God's holy manifestation.
- 3:53It is an all consuming fire, and God dwells in unapproachable
- 3:58light. And we could see that this is
- 4:01Jesus Christ Incarnate. He is pre Incarnate in this
- 4:05moment, and he's revealing himself in a mighty way.
- 4:09Let's see how it goes. 3 And Moses said, I will now turn
- 4:12aside and see this great sight, why the Bush is not burnt.
- 4:16So perhaps he had seen these little sparks off in the
- 4:19distance before, but they would burn up and go out.
- 4:22But here you can see that this was a perpetual fire.
- 4:26This is a fire that never goes out.
- 4:28It is God Almighty. 4 And when the the Lord saw that, he turned
- 4:32aside to see God called to him in the midst of the Bush and
- 4:36said, Moses, Moses. And he said, here am I.
- 4:42So that is our only appropriate response.
- 4:44And you see how God repeats things.
- 4:46And when he says something one time, you better pay attention.
- 4:50But if he says it twice, it should make you stand at
- 4:54attention. And here it's the same as when
- 4:56he says Peter, Peter, this is the same.
- 4:59Whenever he is calling his disciples, he lets them know by
- 5:05repetition. Because he knows that we are
- 5:08like little sheep that have gone astray, that he must get our
- 5:10attention by repeating himself multiple times.
- 5:13That's why you have 4 gospels, friends.
- 5:16That's why you have many of the same stories repeated throughout
- 5:19scripture. Because God knows that we
- 5:22desperately need this repetition.
- 5:24So here he gets Moses's attention not just once, but
- 5:28twice. He mentions his name and he says
- 5:31here AM I5 and he said draw not near here.
- 5:35Put off your shoes from your feet, for the place where you
- 5:38stand is holy ground. Friends, everywhere that we go
- 5:42should kind of glory raining down is holy ground.
- 5:46Friends. Take off your shoes in the
- 5:48presence of God. The earth is the Lord's and
- 5:51everything in it. Friends, have reverence for a
- 5:54holy God. 6 Moreover, he said, I am the God of your father, the
- 5:58God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, the God of Jacob.
- 6:02And Moses hid his face because he was afraid to look upon God.
- 6:07Surely this was Jesus Christ preincarnate.
- 6:10And you can see here that Moses had the reverence for a holy
- 6:14God. He did not try to just stare at
- 6:17the sun. Friends, have you ever tried to
- 6:19stare at the sun? It never works out well, it will
- 6:22burn your retina. And here his only appropriate
- 6:25response was to fall like a dead man, to hide himself from a holy
- 6:30God. 7 And the Lord said, I have surely seen the affliction of my
- 6:37people, which are in Egypt, and have heard their cry by reason
- 6:41of their taskmasters, for I know their sorrows.
- 6:44So God remembered the covenant that he made with Abraham, and
- 6:47he was visiting Moses, who grew up in the palace, who had the
- 6:51insight, who knew the insurance and outs of Pharaoh's court and
- 6:55had to deal with a Pharaoh. And so here God's going to use
- 6:59this man in a mighty way who was from the tribe of Levi, and he's
- 7:03going to call him and tell him to go in and to be the one that
- 7:09helps set his people free. Nate and I have come down to
- 7:16deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, to bring them up
- 7:19out of the land into a good land and a large unto a land flowing
- 7:24with milk and honey, into the place of the Canaanites, the
- 7:27Hittites and the Amorites, the Perizzites and the Hivites and
- 7:31the Jebusites. So here God had already told
- 7:34Noah way back whenever Ham had sinned against him by uncovering
- 7:39the nakedness, he had cursed Canaan, his son.
- 7:42And here you can see it all coming full circle, and we could
- 7:46see that God had allowed the sin of the Canaanites to come to a
- 7:51rightness and now it was time to deal with them.
- 7:55And everything that God does is always twofold.
- 7:58You can look at it from one side and you can look at it from
- 8:01another. And it all spells righteous
- 8:04holiness, friends. It all spells justice, friends.
- 8:08That is what we need. We do not need a fair God.
- 8:11We need a just God. And you will find that in Yahweh
- 8:14ever blasting. 9 And therefore, behold, the cry of the children
- 8:19of Israel has come to me. And I have also seen the
- 8:22oppression where the Egyptians oppressed them.
- 8:26So nothing is missed upon a holy God.
- 8:28He sees it all, friends. He's writing it in his book.
- 8:32And at the great White Throne they will have to give an
- 8:35account for everything that they've done.
- 8:37And they will try to give all of their humanitarian efforts of
- 8:40all the good things that they've done.
- 8:42And it'll not amount to anything.
- 8:43We must be covered in the blood of Jesus Christ to be passed
- 8:47over. 10 Come now, therefore, and I will send you to Pharaoh,
- 8:51that you may bring forth by people the children of Israel
- 8:55out of Egypt. So here he is, the deliverer.
- 8:58God's going to use Moses as an instrument in his hand to get
- 9:02the people out from the bondage and the oppression of the
- 9:06Egyptians who were not willing to let them go so easily.
- 9:09And if you remember old Joseph, he had saved that land.
- 9:13But now all of Joseph's favor has gone by the wayside and a
- 9:18new Pharaoh has taken who has no at 0 respect at all for the
- 9:24Israelites. He just sees them as his free
- 9:28labor in the land and he is oppressing them.
- 9:31And God sees it. And God will not tolerate things
- 9:35forever, friends. There is a finite time on all
- 9:38the things that are here that are temporal friends, and God
- 9:42will deal with it in His perfect timing. 12 And he said,
- 9:47certainly. 11 And Moses said unto God, Who am I that I should
- 9:55go to Pharaoh, and that I should bring forth the children of
- 9:58Israel out of Egypt? So here Moses is trying to make
- 10:02excuses, and he's saying, God, I am not eloquent enough, God, how
- 10:07could I be the one to do it? But God all the way back,
- 10:11whenever his parents put him in the ark and floated him down the
- 10:16river and Pharaoh's daughter found him in the reeds, God had
- 10:20a plan for this young man. And now 80 years later, God's
- 10:24going to start that. 12 And he said, certainly I will be with
- 10:30you, and this shall be a token to you that I have sent you.
- 10:34When you have brought forth the people of Egypt out, you will
- 10:38serve God upon this mountain. So God is saying you will serve
- 10:42me in this very place. Once all of you cross over the
- 10:46Red Sea, you're going to be able to be here on Mount Sinai, and
- 10:51I'm going to reveal to you that all of the things that I said
- 10:55were true, and you'll know it at that time. 13 And Moses said
- 11:00unto God, Behold, when I come unto the children of Israel and
- 11:04say unto them, The God of your Father's has sent me to you, and
- 11:09they shall say to me, What is his name?
- 11:11What shall I say to them? So here you remember that this
- 11:17is the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the God that revealed
- 11:21himself unto Abraham. And you can see that it has been
- 11:26400 plus years and now the Israelites have gone by the
- 11:32wayside. The Israelites have forgotten
- 11:35about Yahweh everlasting. They're down in Egypt and they
- 11:39have all of their false gods surrounding them.
- 11:43And God's going to make good on the covenant that He made with
- 11:46Abraham, and He is going to bring the people out and He's
- 11:51going to remind them of who they are. 14 And God said to Moses, I
- 11:58am that I am. And he said, Thus shall you say
- 12:01unto the children of Israel, I am has sent me to you.
- 12:05So he is pre-existing, the only uncreated.
- 12:09And that is what is referenced here.
- 12:11There is only one true living God, and it is the God of
- 12:14Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the God of the Jews, the God of
- 12:18Israel, friends. And we are just the wild
- 12:21branches grafted into the natural.
- 12:24And never forget that, friends. But the ethnic Jews, just
- 12:28because they're attached to Father Abraham, it does not mean
- 12:31that they automatically get to go to heaven.
- 12:34They must come through Jesus Christ in the same way that we
- 12:37do, friends. And that is what we are so prone
- 12:41to miss, friends. We air on one side or we air on
- 12:45the other. And we need to find ourselves
- 12:48right in the middle between the mayonnaise and the mustard,
- 12:50friends. Keeping it between the two lines
- 12:53in this perfect balancing act, friends.
- 12:55And that is how we're going to make it there.
- 12:58And we cannot be legalistic and we cannot be super dogmatic.
- 13:03We cannot be those that are very libertarian.
- 13:07We cannot be those that abuse grace, friends.
- 13:11We need to be the ones who are rooted and grounded in God's
- 13:15Scripture from Genesis to Revelation, nothing added and
- 13:18nothing subtracted. And you will see the full
- 13:21counsel of God's Word and it will actually guard your heart
- 13:25from all all the things that are coming against you, all the
- 13:28counterfeit teachings, all of the false prophets and false
- 13:32teachers that are on the rise, the apostasy that you see all
- 13:36around you. And it's by actually studying
- 13:38the real thing, friends, that will, you will keep yourself in
- 13:41perfect unity and in unison with a holy God. 15 And God said,
- 13:48moreover unto Moses, that you shall say unto the children of
- 13:52Israel, the Lord God of your father's, the God of Abraham,
- 13:56the God of Isaac, the God of Jacob has sent me to you.
- 14:00This is my name forever, and this is my memorial unto all
- 14:07generations. We call upon that name today and
- 14:10we are saved. Yeshua, Jesus Christ, the
- 14:15Anointed, the Messiah, that is who we call upon, this Jewish
- 14:20St. Preacher who died and rose again
- 14:24and ascended to the right hand of the Father.
- 14:27That is the name that we call upon, and his name means
- 14:31salvation, friends. 16 Go and gather the elders of Israel
- 14:37together, and say to them, The Lord God of your father's, the
- 14:41God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Jacob appeared to me, saying, I
- 14:46have surely visited you and seen that which is done to you in
- 14:50Egypt. So here God is telling Moses
- 14:54what to go to the Israelites and say, 17 And I have said, I will
- 15:01bring you up out of the affliction of Egypt, into the
- 15:04land of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Amorites, the
- 15:08Perizzites, and the Hivites, the Jebizites, unto a land flowing
- 15:12with milk and honey. So he's telling them that he's
- 15:15going to lead them into the promised land. 18 And they shall
- 15:19listen to your voice, and you shall come, you and the elders
- 15:24of Israel, unto the king of Egypt, and you shall say to him,
- 15:28The Lord God of the Hebrews has met with us, and now let us go.
- 15:33We beg you 3 days journey into the wilderness, that we may
- 15:39sacrifice to the Lord our God. So here Moses is instructed to
- 15:44go into Pharaoh's court and ask for Pharaoh to let them go and
- 15:49sacrifice in the wilderness. 19 And I am sure that the king of
- 15:57Egypt will not let you go. No, not by a mighty hand.
- 16:05So God already knows what the outcomes going to be.
- 16:09And so many times this is where we fail, friends.
- 16:13We think that there's this big chess match that's happening,
- 16:17that God's trying to figure out his next move.
- 16:20But God is the alpha and the Omega.
- 16:22He's the beginning and the end. He already knows everything
- 16:25that's going to happen, and that is how he can write it all down.
- 16:29It's not that he wrote it down and now he has to try to figure
- 16:32out a way to make Scripture line up with what's happening.
- 16:35It doesn't work that way. God's already at the end, He
- 16:38already knows how the story ends, and he gave us this book
- 16:42that is inspired by the Holy Spirit and able to actually
- 16:46predict itself with pinpoint accuracy.
- 16:49Because to God, he's already at the end, He already knows how it
- 16:53goes. 20 And I will stretch out my hand and strike Egypt with
- 16:59all my wonders, which I will do in the midst of it.
- 17:02And after that, he will let you go.
- 17:05So God here is telling Moses, hey, listen, you're going to
- 17:09have to go through a lot. You're going to have to see that
- 17:13my mighty hand is the only thing that can deliver you from this
- 17:16powerful king. He knows that Pharaoh's not
- 17:20going to just immediately let them go.
- 17:22It's going to have to come at a high price, friends. 21 And I
- 17:27will give this people favor in the sight of the Egyptians.
- 17:31And it shall come to pass that when you go, you shall not go
- 17:35empty. Well end on. 22 But every woman
- 17:39shall borrow of her neighbor and of her that journeys in her
- 17:43house jewels of silver and jewels of gold and clothing, and
- 17:48you shall put them upon your sons and upon your daughters,
- 17:51and you shall spoil the Egyptians.
- 17:54So not only are they going to get to go into the prom promised
- 17:57Land, but they're going to go with all the riches of Egypt.
- 18:00Friends, look at how God takes care of His people and you can
- 18:04see that the riches of the unrighteous will be spent upon
- 18:09the righteous. What an amazing thought.
- 18:12Friends, I hope you've been blessed by this amazing chapter
- 18:16in God's Word. I know I sure have.
- 18:18I'm praying for every single one of you.
- 18:20I'll see you back here tomorrow. God bless you.
